Meet the Guest: Glubbers

00:00:22
Speaker
Hello everybody and welcome back to another brand new episode of Tony's Game Lounge. I'm your host as always, Tony14, and joining me this week, a returning guest, Legend of Zelda speedrunner, and a couple other things. I think I've seen you speedrun some other things. now yeah i have run a couple of other things in the past i only really do things that aren't zelda these days when i'm doing like uh some kind of a special where you know you run back through your old games i actually started out running non-zelda games and i've since fully transitioned to it yes but yeah i've run metroid and mario and stuff like that
00:01:02
Speaker
yeah It's Glubbers! He's back! We brought him back. we brought after After our intense conversation of...

Couch Restoration Comedy

00:01:10
Speaker
What was it? Leather Conditioner? Yep. but Oh, I still have that couch. I actually could talk more about restoring that couch if you want, because we did restore that couch earlier. Let's go last year.
00:01:22
Speaker
you know what? That's great. Glad to hear that update. That is what we have been waiting. That's the update we have been waiting on for like what? Three, two, three years now since you were last on.
00:01:33
Speaker
Yep. And you better believe it. That couch is doing its best. The best it's done in years. The best it's done since the leather conditioner. That's great.
00:01:44
Speaker
Well, welcome back, Glovers.

Why Glubbers Hates Roguelikes

00:01:47
Speaker
Since ah you're a returning guest, ah you get to take part in Hot Takes, which means you get to give us your hottest video game take that you have.
00:01:58
Speaker
Ooh, okay. I definitely have some that come to mind that are pretty specific, but I'm going to hit a broad thing here. Okay. So, I have never, will never, and frankly don't understand how people find roguelikes fun.
00:02:17
Speaker
Really? Any roguelike. Any of them. Whoa. They are... Which is really weird coming from someone that's a speedrunner, right? Because the idea is the replayability.
00:02:28
Speaker
Yeah. But when you're playing a roguelike, the thing that gets to me is how you have... a lot of procedural generation to generate a different gameplay experience each time.
00:02:43
Speaker
I like that in theory, right? But what I don't like in practice is how that ends up being things that can... it In my mind and in my experience with the ones that I've played, you know, Risk of Rain, ah Binding of Isaac, lot of like the classic ones. off I find that things change from being fun, challenging to being unexpected and kind of BS.
00:03:12
Speaker
Right. Okay. Okay. So more of dealing with the, the, the bad RNG at times. Yeah, when you, to me, if you introduce the, I can excuse it for the sake of randomizers because they're not the vanilla game, but if you're making a game and the idea in involves allowing for there to be an introduction of what I call unfun gameplay, which is something like waiting or dealing with something where maybe you have idea.
00:03:44
Speaker
a bad weapon for an enemy that has a lot of health, so you're just dealing with a damage spot. Okay. Stuff like that, not for me. Ruins the experience every time. Okay. What about roguelike hybrids? Like, games that take, like, some roguelike elements but aren't a full-on roguelike.

The Hades Exception

00:04:00
Speaker
Ooh, okay. So... I would even call this a roguelike, not even a hybrid roguelike, but the one that I can excuse is Hades. Okay. ah And what I would call that a hybrid for is because I'll say that I do like the, like it more, right? It's not necessarily something that sells me on it, but what I like about Hades is that the actual flow of the combat style is so fun itself that it removes any damage Way in which I could be annoyed by the game. Like if I am from playing Hades and i deal with some BS enemy that's going to just push me down and
00:04:43
Speaker
make like it's just like an automatic reset i look at that and i go oh how do i deal with this i have a lot of utility in but available to me how do i make this a fun experience and that goes back to being a fun experience because it's suddenly a problem solving thing rather than a i have a pistol how do i deal with this giant enemy yeah so yeah you prefer like the rogue light over the full-on rogue like exactly yeah yeah okay you know what that's that's that's a that's pretty fair that's a it's a hot take for sure because i was like whoa but no that's actually a pretty pretty but justifying it with that that's pretty fair that's uh that that is what i think that is like one of the hotter takes that we have had on this thank thank you for coming forward with that yeah i mean i'm pretty vocal about it
00:05:32
Speaker
People always say it's weird. They're like, you speed run games. I'm like, that is way different. Yeah, it's way different because it's just it's speed running a game is like beating your head to a concrete wall.
00:05:44
Speaker
Exactly. Yeah. I'm putting myself in front of the concrete wall. I'm not being presented with one. Right. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Oh, exactly. Yeah. um Yeah. No, it's wild. Cause it's like, I, it's like, if I look at like what games I like, just I just finished like, I guess a rogue light with that blueprints.
00:06:03
Speaker
um I did everything that I wanted to do with that game. I'm, I am not brave enough for those challenge runs or I'm patient enough with it. I'm like, I have other games I need to play now. ah Thank you for the entertainment of generating a house over and over again.
00:06:19
Speaker
i need to go ah play Expedition 33.
00:06:23
Speaker
Oh, but I've heard a lot about that. it So it's quick. Gosh, it's so good. Like this. right Realistically, I think it might take game of the year.
00:06:35
Speaker
But again, we still have so much of the year to get through. So don't want to jump on that horse too early. Exactly. There's a lot of good stuff coming out. There's doom later this month and I'm a big doom head.
00:06:48
Speaker
Yeah, we do have

Borderlands 4 Direct Highlights

00:06:49
Speaker
that coming out. Well, before we get into all of that other stuff, we have the headline of the week, which is the Borderlands 4 Direct that happened where Randy Pitchford came out and said, hey, guys, we're so confident that GTA 6 is not coming out this year that we're moving our game up like a week of release.
00:07:07
Speaker
So it now has a new release date of September 12th. And um we got to see quite a bit of gameplay, about 20 minutes of it. um We were introduced to two of the four new Vault Hunters, Vex, who is the brand new Siren, who uses a bunch of phase energy, and one of her skill tree abilities is to conjure her energy panther trouble.
00:07:30
Speaker
It is a cat minion, and yes, you can pet the cat. um We also got Rafa, who was shown off, who whose abilities ah rely on digistructing weapons. um So digital weapons and generating them and then using them.
00:07:43
Speaker
that is that's That was the skill tree that they showed off. um There's probably a lot more, and we still don't know who the other two Vault Hunters are, ah but it's Look at it all right.
00:07:54
Speaker
The new world we're going to is called Kairos. The villain is known as the Timekeeper, who was ruling over Kairos until the moon that Lilith sent away at the end of Borderlands 3 ended up in their orbit, shattering um their world, sending it into chaos, and the Timekeeper's not too pleased all about this.
00:08:13
Speaker
We know that returning characters, we obviously have Claptrap. We also got Moxie, who's also returning. And we also know that Zane and Amara, two the Vault Hunters from 3, are also returning. And it looks like one of the main plot points will be searching for Lilith on the new planet.
00:08:31
Speaker
We also kind of got to meet two of the new characters, ah Rush, who is an NPC, and Echo 4, who kind of acts as our map guide of like, oh, hey, here's how you can get to point A to point B. Just follow the trail that they leave ah type thing.
00:08:47
Speaker
um They also talked about their brand new lobby system and they will be doing cross play at launch, which I believe they also did with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, um which is just for a game like Borderlands. Yeah, you kind of should have cross play at launch.
00:09:01
Speaker
It'd be dumb if you didn't. ah ah Included in this now is each player can set their own difficulty level. Loot is instanced and you can fast travel straight to your friends.
00:09:13
Speaker
um They showed off the brand new movement abilities, including gliding, dashing, double jumps, to climbing, and point grapple. the The world will have dynamic weather and world boss-like events scattered throughout.
00:09:25
Speaker
ah A bunch of silos and other world events to find through the map. um You can earn a vault key fragments, to which you can find, combine, and then take on high-level vaults, which will be, I guess, like the raid mechanic set in the game.
00:09:40
Speaker
Your new vehicle is called the Digi-Runner. the web and yeah also so um For the first time in a long while, we have brand new weapon manufacturers. We have Order, which focus on charge blasts, Ripper, which are fully auto guns, and Daedalus, who use multiple multiple ammo munition types with their guns.
00:09:59
Speaker
They also said that, hey, you can find guns that have different parts from different manufacturers. so You can have a Jacob's gun with fucking Torg, And it's like, oh, yes, your headshots are becoming even more explosive than they already are.
00:10:16
Speaker
um They are replacing the artifact system with a brand new enhancement system, which is basically to allow more min-maxing around the various manufacturers in the game.
00:10:26
Speaker
They are adjusting the drop rates specifically for legendary guns because in Borderlands 3, they were very, very frequent and didn't feel as special or powerful. So they have adjusted it to make the legendary guns even better.
00:10:39
Speaker
um They've also replaced how rocket launchers will work. Rockets no longer take up an individual slot. Instead, they have ordnance, which is how you equip your grenades and your rockets.
00:10:51
Speaker
And these will be set to cool down timers now and no longer ah ammunition. Yeah, as per always, you have your skill tree for your action skills, three paths per Vault Hunter.
00:11:02
Speaker
um And there's going to be a new thing called Rev Kits so they can heal you and give you other buffs um that you can apply whenever you need to. And there is going to be a mission and boss replay through Moxie's Arena, which is a thing you can unlock ah either sometime mid-game or end-game.
00:11:21
Speaker
So that way you can grind and grind your bosses to get the specific gun that you want from them. That's essentially everything that they showed um from this. And you know what? It looks all right.
00:11:33
Speaker
um Still would like to see a little bit more, specifically like the other Vault Hunters, to see what full array of things they will be offering to us. ah But I'm relatively pleased with what I saw.
00:11:48
Speaker
um What about you, Glubber? Is there any thoughts on Borderlands 4? You know, I'm not a huge Borderlands guy, but at least like looking through what we just went over, I like the how there's clearly a big focus on...
00:12:03
Speaker
I guess accessibility is the wrong word, but I'm trying to come up with a better word where you have things like mission and boss reclaim. You know, you're allowed to go back and do those things. You can have kind of a boss rush. I always like that kind of thing.
00:12:14
Speaker
Fast traveling to your friends. I'm going to assume that there's something like if they're in combat, you can't do it. But why haven't games been doing this for longer? Right. over It ah you're supposed to have this kind of like the kind of game Borderlands is you have access to a larger map and it's meant to be played with a smaller group of friends. So like games like Borderlands, Deep Rock Galactic, stuff like that.
00:12:40
Speaker
Yeah. The idea isn't anything like... Beyond having fun with your friends, doing something like fast traveling with your friends, instancing the loot so that you're not getting into arguments over stuff, ah having your own difficulty level so that you can play with the friends that maybe want to take it more chill or have a like more of a challenge.
00:13:04
Speaker
Why has this not been standard in other games for longer? I don't know, but I really like it. Yeah, actually, it's that's a very good point that you do bring up. is like this This stuff that they're doing for their local and online multiplayer should have been should be a precedent for this kind of these kind of games. And you know what?
00:13:22
Speaker
I will say this. Kudos to you, Borderlands, because that's ah it's it's it's this could this could have won you guys a game award for that accessibility that accessibility award. Absolutely. That definitely could ah do that because that is very innovative.
00:13:37
Speaker
Now granted, I don't think any game will be as innovative as Forza Horizon 5 when it comes to accessibility and everything they fucking did. But it's good steps and i look I'm looking forward to seeing more, Randy, because you guys have a lot to redeem from ah the Borderlands movie.
00:13:57
Speaker
This is... Yeah. Yeah. yeah ah Well with that it's time for us to now dive into everything else that happened this week and take a look at the week in review.
00:14:12
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review.

Surprise Release: Oblivion Remastered

00:14:21
Speaker
And kicking it off, some of the games that came out this past two weeks, you had Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3,
00:14:28
Speaker
which is just a fantastic title for a game that you got to talk. You got to just you know remind remind people that that came out this year. Claire Obscure Expedition 33.
00:14:39
Speaker
Again, what go check out the game. whether you love or Whether you love RPGs or you know or on the fence about them, go play it. This game is fantastic.
00:14:50
Speaker
it This game is so, so fantastic. And if you didn't know, it stars Charlie Cox. It stars the d Daredevil as the main protagonist, Gustav. So go go so check that out. And of course, everybody's favorite ah voice actor, new voice actor who's essentially becoming ah more and more unhinged with everything he does, Ben Star.
00:15:14
Speaker
ah He also is also in the game. So yeah go check out the game. um You also had the hundred line last defense Academy release the elder scrolls for oblivion remastered, which came out of, we talked about it of like, Oh, Hey, there's rumors that it might happen. And then it happened like the day after we released the last episode of the podcast, ah fatal fury, city of the wolves and tempest rising all released as well. And I gotta to say that oblivion remaster.
00:15:43
Speaker
oh wow. What a, what a surprise drop that was. Yeah, you know, I i had seen, you know, the little inklings of rumors of, hey, they're probably going to talk about an Oblivion remake tomorrow, or I guess remasters, what it ended up being.
00:16:00
Speaker
And i was like, okay, I'm excited for, you know, 2026 Oblivion. I could get behind that. And then I saw someone saying, no, I think it comes out tomorrow. And I was like, okay, random social media person. Then the next day, it's just literally out. I was like, how?
00:16:19
Speaker
How was that person right? How was the one person who's like, no, but it comes out tomorrow. Yeah, so it all started out with some images getting leaked over that weekend. And then on, but people were like, yo, this game might release on Monday.
00:16:35
Speaker
And then come Monday, Bethesda dropped a tweet saying, oh, hey, um we're doing a showcase for Oblivion Remastered tomorrow.
00:16:45
Speaker
And we're like, huh? And then they did the showcase and then the game was out. And everyone was like, well, okay then. And yeah, the that's what Bethesda did. And I gotta say, wow.
00:17:01
Speaker
hu Bold move. Bethesda, god damn. It's a bold move, but you know, you'd said earlier how Borderlands is moving up their release date. They kind of have this anticipation of there not being GTA 6.
00:17:14
Speaker
who I could kind of see the opposite case being true for Oblivion here. They anticipate a late release of GTA 6. Drop your game now. Get the press now.
00:17:25
Speaker
Have your time in the spotlight. There's nothing happening right now. Yep.

GTA 6 Delay Impact

00:17:29
Speaker
And GTA 6, speaking of, 6 has been delayed with a new official release date of May 26, 2026. So those bold moves did pay off.
00:17:42
Speaker
And it also means that this year, game developers can rest easy knowing that they won't have to compete with it. And now that we actually have and actual date, they can plan accordingly next year as well to not have to compete with the same week.
00:17:59
Speaker
of a major release. So thanks, Rockstar, I guess, because you you finally gave us an actual release date because you just gave us like a release window last time, just saying 2025 and we all like assumed fall and now it's like, oh no, no, it's it's spring or I guess early summer of 2026.
00:18:16
Speaker
twenty twice six So thanks, Rockstar. Thank you. Thank you. yeah I would hope they give a formal release date, which they did, of course. Yeah. For a game and as big, big. Yeah. as big of preparation that they've likely done as a company funding wise. So much hype behind it.
00:18:36
Speaker
It's GTA is the non gamers game, right? You need to to have this massive release for it. It's like releasing a new movie. It is, and it's going to shape the way the video game landscape for sure because its price point is going... People are saying Mario Kart World's price point is going to determine stuff. No, GTA 6's price point is really going to determine the future of game pricing.
00:19:00
Speaker
We also, back in the gaming news stuff, Ghost of Yotei got a brand new trailer and revealed the game will be dropping October 2nd. Very excited for that. I enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima and i'm looking forward to Yotei.
00:19:13
Speaker
Yeah, and those games seem interesting. They tickle my fancy, but not enough to buy a PlayStation 5. you get Fair. that is that That's fair. ah In Michael Bay news, because he's back in the news, he's directing a brand new movie for the video game Outrun.
00:19:31
Speaker
And it's going to star Sydney Sweeney. All right. So, what well well, Michael Bay is back with a new Michael babe, I guess, if you want to call Sydney Sweeney that.
00:19:47
Speaker
Because it was Megan Fox before, and now it's Sydney Sweeney. Look, Michael Bay makes things explode. So that's what has no explosions, though.
00:19:58
Speaker
i want to see them make some explosion in Outrun. ah He's going to He likes explosions. It's going to happen.
00:20:10
Speaker
Okay, yeah, I i guess i guess so. ah Speaking of video game movies, Split Fiction is getting a movie as well. Also starring Sydney, sweetie.
00:20:21
Speaker
um This is being directed by John M. Chu, the director of Wicked. That could actually be pretty good. Yeah, that one that one seems a bit more promising. ah But again, we'll we'll have to wait and see when, because this this stuff takes time.
00:20:36
Speaker
Star Wars Outlaws revealed its second story DLC, A Pirate's Fortune, releasing on May 15th. Game developer and modder Silent Patches stumbled across and fixed a bug that has been lying dormant in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for two decades.
00:20:53
Speaker
So this bug was triggered by a new build of Windows 11 in which the skimmer plane completely disappears from the game. ah He put some objects there just to like test around it And then he decided, hey, let's put CJ there and see what happens.
00:21:07
Speaker
And it sends 1.087 quadrillion light years up into the sky i I had heard about that on social media and it just makes me laugh. I don't know what else to say.
00:21:21
Speaker
It just makes me laugh. How does this even happen? How is it triggered a new build of Windows 11? Is this why Windows 11 sucks? I don't know. No, Windows 11 is great for this. i want us so I too want to send my video game characters 1.087 quadrillion light years into the sky and wait that long for them to come down.
00:21:44
Speaker
but I don't have that kind of time. I'm going to pass on that computer, make sure it stays on for the rest of it, and my children, and their children's children, and their children's children's children.
00:21:56
Speaker
chi so ah My gen generations past will wait until CJ falls, and it's going to break headlines in the news what he does. Earth is like long gone. We've moved on to the stars. Earth itself is just a not a planet anymore. A thing of the past legend. Nobody even knows if that's actually where we came from.
00:22:16
Speaker
But there's still CJ in the sky on his way. He's only like halfway there. Exactly. eggs Exactly.
00:22:27
Speaker
Ubisoft is finally adding an offline mode for the crew, too. And testing for this new mode is currently underway. ah In Bethesda, more Bethesda news, Bethesda gave Oblivion remastered game keys to the entire Sky Blivion development team and made it clear that they have no intention of shutting down their modding project, which is very kind of Bethesda and honestly, just another W that Bethesda could give themselves.
00:22:56
Speaker
I like when companies does do this sort of thing, right? Like... I'm very much so a Nintendo guy. Nintendo hates modders with a burning passion. Literally takes them to court.
00:23:09
Speaker
I'm now aware of Bethesda doing this sort of thing. The popular one being the Sonic Team doing it too. Don't shut down your mod the people modding your games.
00:23:21
Speaker
Sonic Team gives them jobs. Give them like... ah spotlight give the Give yourself good press because guess what? The people doing it are the ones that are in love with it the most, right? Yeah, they are.
00:23:32
Speaker
So you're just going to give yourself good PR, have your loyal fan base be happier with you instead of angrier with you. And it's just a good thing all around. I mean, you don't have to necessarily give them keys. That's amazing that the Thess did that, but...
00:23:49
Speaker
do some positive thing and you're just going to send your company soaring. This is good for Bethesda and for oblivion. It just is. Yeah.
00:23:59
Speaker
And sky oblivion. While the project does not have a release date yet, they're still hard at work at putting, but essentially the mod is making oblivion within Skyrim.
00:24:10
Speaker
um So if you're looking forward to that, then look forward to that because that's still on its way. Valnet, the owners of GameRant, The Gamer, and more ah gaming journalists publications, and announced that they have acquired Polygon from Vox Media.
00:24:26
Speaker
Polygon will be joining Valnet's gaming portfolio known as the Valnet Gaming Group, which collectively reaches over 1.2 billion users annually. The virtual game card update for the Nintendo Switch systems has finally dropped, as well as GameShare and a bunch of other things to prep for the launch of the Switch

Nintendo Switch Card Update

00:24:45
Speaker
2.
00:24:45
Speaker
two what do What do you think of the the virtual game card system? Okay. I have kept my so I haven't been in much other than the dark on it.
00:24:56
Speaker
All I've heard is that it's got issues and that people don't like. I don't know exactly what those issues are.
00:25:07
Speaker
I haven't looked into it too much. My general response to it was I'm not updating my Switch systems. Neither of them. They're staying where they are because I don't want to deal with whatever thing is annoying people.
00:25:20
Speaker
Now, that said, I imagine it's not as bad as people are just leading on. You know, people can be very... Negative out negative out there with it. Right. But I don't like the idea behind it. I don't want to deal with that because the way that this game card system works in my mind, at least this is my theoretical as the ah as the speed runner here. Right.
00:25:47
Speaker
If I have the the Nintendo speed runner. Yeah. Yeah. If I want to play Echoes of Wisdom, I specifically have Echoes of Wisdom on version 1.0.0 on one Switch and 1.0.1 on another Switch because it's optimal in two different cases.
00:26:02
Speaker
If I have these game cards, I don't want it to say, hey, your other system has this version. We need you to update before you can play.
00:26:12
Speaker
And I haven't heard of anybody having any experience with that, but I've heard that as ah possibility, nothing but rumors, and I don't want to be the one to test it.
00:26:24
Speaker
Fair enough. So, I hate it. It's the plague.
00:26:29
Speaker
I think it'll be great for the Switch, too. I think it'll be great. Yeah, no. I think, obviously, like if you have a family Switch thing, and it's like you want to control what your kids are playing from what you've bought, I think it's a nice way to... like I think that's it's a good way to control that, really.
00:26:50
Speaker
And obviously, Game Share is nice. I think that's like one of the pros from the update. But it's still very mixed, and... It's kind of just the future that Nintendo has for the Switch 2 once that ah fully releases.
00:27:05
Speaker
And I'm excited for that. ah Far Cry 4 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X got a surprise 60 frame per second patch out of the blue. It just happened, and now the game runs at 60, which is great.
00:27:19
Speaker
Cool to see. I was looking at my Far Cry 4, how many hours I put into that game back when I played it long, long ago on my PS4. I had 112 hours in Far Cry 4.
00:27:31
Speaker
And I'm like, there's how how do I have that many hours? Like, I i did not did not feel like that. But yeah, I had 112 hours in that game. Crazy to look back on that.
00:27:43
Speaker
ah The Wholesome Games Direct is returning on June 7th, and I believe they're going to showcase like over 60 titles. So look forward to that coming out in June.

In Twitch scandal news, Dr. Lupo was caught cheating in the PogChamp 6 online chess tournament, and he was kicked out. The reason, turns out, he had the mainstream of PogChamp 6 up on a second monitor and could see...
00:28:12
Speaker
a bunch of different players moves ah ahead of time. i was just going say, you always love a good cheating scandal. Yeah. with the Not too, too often, but come on. It's not that hard.
00:28:25
Speaker
it's It's really not. It's really not. and And Dr. Lupo tried to play it off of like, oh, he's stepping away ah ah like on Twitter and stuff. And then Twitch PogChamps called him out.
00:28:36
Speaker
Of course. It's like, yeah, that's uh-huh. ah French President Emmanuel Macron shouted out Expedition 33 for selling over a million copies and calling the game a shining example of French audacity and creativity.
00:28:49
Speaker
Sanfal then replied with a baguette emoji. Oui, oui. yeah Yay, France. Yay. Silksong now has an official release date for a museum exhibit.
00:29:03
Speaker
Yes, Silksong will be playable within this Australian museum exhibit from September 18th, which means maybe the game releases earlier or the same day.
00:29:15
Speaker
Who knows? Because we don't. What museum? I don't remember the exact museum's name, ah but it's going to be on on an exhibit.
00:29:28
Speaker
All right. And you can play like a full build of the game. It's not just like, oh, is it like a demo? No, it's the full of the full game. ah All right. Well, yeah, if it's going to be the full game, the game's got to release somewhere around there.
00:29:41
Speaker
You would think, but this could just be their way of trolling us too. Like ah this point, they're just like, no let's just fuck with them even more. Yeah. It's just like, go go fly to Australia to play our game.
00:29:53
Speaker
It's just like, well, I guess, I guess. ah Eric Barone, concerned ape, the developer Stardew Valley, has stated that he is finally happy and content with where Stardew Valley currently is and is now fully focused on working and developing Haunted Chocolatier, his next game.
00:30:16
Speaker
Let's go! Super, super exciting to finally see that. I can't wait to make chocolate in know Haunted Chocolate Factory. Yeah, I like ghosts and I like chocolate. So, you know, I'm for that match made. Exactly.
00:30:34
Speaker
Hello Kitty Island Adventure has got its first major content update, adding a brand new icy area and a bunch more Sanrio villagers and visitors to ah interact with.
00:30:47
Speaker
Thea Thieves is making changes to its punishment system, changing from the three-strike system to a now point system where, depending on what you do, you'll get X amount of points, be banned for X amount of days if that point requirement goes higher or lower, and the more points you get, the longer your bans will become until it's just a permaband.
00:31:06
Speaker
And they're also going to start re listing the reasons why you got the ban as well. ah In layoff news, 100 employees have been laid off at Respawn, which is part of a whole 200 to 300 person layoff at EA.
00:31:21
Speaker
ah Two projects have been canceled by Respawn, one of which was an extraction shooter set in the Titanfall universe. Which has a lot of fans upset because Titanfall, very beloved.
00:31:32
Speaker
And there go there's no longer another Titanfall game being worked on. Very, very sad. Titanfall fans keep getting shafted. They do. No Titanfall 3, we get Apex instead. Now we're maybe getting at least something in the universe and nope.
00:31:50
Speaker
Project cancelled. Just more Apex. Let's go Apex. I mean, it's good game, but... Yeah, it's alright. ah Sonic Rumble has been delayed on Steam once again, and no new date has been set.

Sonic Rumble Delay Frustration

00:32:07
Speaker
ah and this this one's this one's kind of upsetting because I'm like because it's all is just Fall Guys with a Sonic skin like how long long do you need to like before you put it in the freaking open testing open beta like let us play the goddamn game Sega please like it shouldn't be that hard we just want to be a funny Sonic bean is that hard ah evidently very difficult ah yeah Apparently. Elena's new trailer for Street Fighter 6 dropped and she will be playable on June 5th, which is when the year one and two version of the game does release as well.
00:32:46
Speaker
Seth Rogen was added to Call of Duty, ah specifically Black Ops 6 and Warzone. And the Xbox Series S and Series X have both increased their prices by $80 and $100. So those are now a bit more expensive.
00:33:01
Speaker
wo who Unfortunate for Xbox. In some ongoing game news, Final Fantasy XIV, patch 7.21 released with the and adding the brand new Lunar Sanctuary and Gathering Area and brand new Relic Tools to work on.
00:33:19
Speaker
So get crafting, everybody. It's just like the Ishgardian Restoration all over again, except we're doing it on the moon where capitalism won't reach us.
00:33:31
Speaker
In Fortnite and Epic Games news, Epic Games has been fighting a crypto and metaverse company called Utherverse over patent infringement since 2021. Utherverse filed a lawsuit at June 2021 saying that Epic Games infringed on several patents. Oh, wait, sorry. This was last week's story. I completely forgot to remove that.
00:33:51
Speaker
I was like, this is sounding familiar. That was last week's story. Ignore that, folks. ah What actually happened, though, Apple can no longer charge... No, Epic Games can no longer charge.
00:34:04
Speaker
No, yeah, no, it is Apple. Jesus Christ, I am all over the place. Apple can no longer charge a fee for purchases made outside of an iOS app, which means that the Epic Games versus Apple court thing is finally coming to a close after Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled this on April 30th.
00:34:22
Speaker
Fortnite will be returning to the iOS app store later this week in North America. And they have they said if Apple removes the third-party payment fee worldwide, Epic Games will put Fortnite back on the iOS app store globally and drop current and future litigation on the topic.
00:34:41
Speaker
So this story that we've been reporting on for, I guess, five years now... Because that's how long it's kind of been. This was like one of the first stories we ever handled on the podcast.

Epic vs. Apple Verdict

00:34:51
Speaker
It's finally coming to a close and Apple lost.
00:34:56
Speaker
Yeah, and we'll see what kind of implications that has because there's a number of different apps that have purchases outside of the you know iOS store. Twitch is a good example of that where Apple charges a fee. I mean, that's why you go around on Twitch and you don't say or you say don't buy your subs on mobile.
00:35:14
Speaker
Just don't. Yeah, you out they're they're much more expensive. And that's the reason why. Mm-hmm. ah In TCG news, starting off with Pokemon Destined Rivals drops May 30th, and in TCG Pocket news, the brand new Celestial Guardians dropped, adding brand new Sun and Moon Pokemon to the game, and also changing up the meta with Rare Candies, allowing your first form Pokemon to evolve straight to their final form if they're a three-stage Pokemon.
00:35:42
Speaker
So Charmander could go right to Charizard, which is actually a little broken with the the shining face Charizard. So look out competitive pocket players.
00:35:55
Speaker
Yu-Gi-Oh! News Alliance Insight releases is out now. Battles of Legend Monster Mayhem comes out June 13th and Duelists Advance July 4th. In Magic the Gathering, the Final Fantasy collaboration drops on June 13th.
00:36:09
Speaker
Edge of Eternity is on August 1st. Spider-Man on September 26th and Avatar The Last Airbender November 21st. And fun fact about Avatar The Last Airbender, I got to meet Dante Bosco.
00:36:22
Speaker
Nice. And it was pretty cool. Anna Disney, Loracana, Rain Jafar releases June 6th and Fabled set for quarter three later this year.
00:36:34
Speaker
And that is everything in the week interview. Any final words on anything in there, Glovers? Ma'am, what's happening with Magically Gathering?
00:36:46
Speaker
ah A lot. i I stopped playing Magic the Gathering around when COVID happened, right? And, you know, I come back and I look at it every now and then. Like right now, you're telling me there's a Spider-Man set coming out. I'm like, what?
00:37:00
Speaker
There's a SpongeBob set out right now. I know there's a SpongeBob set. Hatsune Miku has some cards. That one, for some reason, makes more sense in my mind.
00:37:12
Speaker
It's Miku. Who doesn't like Miku? ah Fair. You know what? You're you're not wrong there. You're not wrong. A lot of people like really love Miku. All right. Well, with that, it's time for us to now look ahead and talk about everything that's coming out within these next two weeks.

Upcoming Game Releases

00:37:28
Speaker
Here's what should be on your radar from May 5th to 16th. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar.
00:37:40
Speaker
And starting off, on the 5th drop dutchy comes to the pc on tuesday the 6th high on life makes its way to the switch metal eden goes to the playstation 5 series x and pc and unblocked comes to the pc no releases on the 7th but on the 8th creature keeper comes to the pc revenge of the savage planet makes its way to everything but the switch sonic rumble was supposed to come out but it's not anymore Spirit of the North 2 releases on the PlayStation 5 Series X and PC.
00:38:11
Speaker

00:38:28
Speaker
Void Sails and Omega Crafter both come to the PC. American Arcadia comes to the consoles. Doom the Dark Ages makes its way to the PlayStation 5, Series X, and PC. Nubs Arena comes to the PC.
00:38:41
Speaker
and Tennis Manager 25 makes its way to the PC as well. And on the 16th, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 comes to the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
00:38:53
Speaker
Some of your bigger releases that you got here. You got Revenge the Savage Planet, which is sequel to... Oh, God. ah It's something of the Savage Planet. It's part of that series where you go there because capitalism's greedy.
00:39:08
Speaker
And it's a comedic take on a survival wilderness game. ah So look forward to that. And also, The Midnight Walk... um brand new horror game that uses clay nation for everything so we really look forward to that one if you're into horror it's from the people who brought us lost in random ah and it's it just looks it looks pretty impressive but obviously the big big release nubs arena like yes we're finally getting the nubs in an arena and and we just I've been doing the dark ages
00:39:46
Speaker
Doom is going to be amazing. this The third one, we're getting a sp a shield. we We're going to ride dragons and how like there is so, so much. It's like a prequel to for like the modern Doom trilogy, which is crazy, even crazier.
00:40:03
Speaker
I love what they've done with this modern rendition of the Doom franchise where it's It's just, yeah, I've heard complaints about the story being silly or like Doom doesn't need a story.
00:40:18
Speaker
But if you're giving it a story, you can give the franchise longevity that it didn't have before. And I don't care about the story. You're just telling me I'm going to kill demons with a battle axe and I'm going to have a hell of a time.
00:40:32
Speaker
ah Hell of a time! Ah! Yeah, no thats that's all Doom is. It's go fast, shoot demons in the face, punch them a lot, battle axe dragons.
00:40:46
Speaker
Exactly. Rip into hair. What more could you want? Nothing. yeah This this is this is is is everything I want in a first-person shooter.
00:40:58
Speaker
everything that isn't covered by Nubs Arena, right? yeah Yes, of course, obviously, yes. um Yeah, but that that's basically ah the games that are coming up within the next two weeks.
00:41:10
Speaker
It's a good selection, um but the big one, again, Doom the Dark Ages, look forward to that one, folks. With that, it's time for us to now get into our main focus of this week's episode.
00:41:23
Speaker
Here is what we're talking about this week in the Game Lounge. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us.
00:41:34
Speaker
Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. And kicking it off, we're talking about the Nintendo Switch 2 once again because pre-orders finally went live in North America.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order Chaos

00:41:45
Speaker
And boy, was it crazy for a good couple of websites that were not ready for this. Even though they were given, i would say, like ample time to prepare.
00:42:00
Speaker
Most of them didn't. Yep. So I'll ask a certain new glubbers. How was the pre or did first off? Did you preorder the switch to?
00:42:11
Speaker
I did. i was in the thick of it. I could recount everything like a war story. oh perfect. but Let us hear this war story. Okay, so it was the night of the pre-orders.
00:42:23
Speaker
And as the cluck as as luckck of the rooster went off. To signify midnight Eastern in North America, specifically Eastern time, so it was 9pm for me.
00:42:40
Speaker
The the websites also was sitting in a call with a ton of my friends and we were all trying to get our pre-orders. It was hectic. I don't know if you've ever had like trying to get concert tickets for a big show or anything like that. But every website crashed. We all were in call like 30 minutes before it went live.
00:43:00
Speaker
And everyone's like, OK, make sure you have the target app. Make sure you have the Best Buy app. Make sure you have all of like the apps download Make sure you have your cards in your account. You're signed into your account. You are then like on the page. Let's go. Let's not go to the page of the console itself.
00:43:17
Speaker
Go to the search page of the console and load that so that you can load into the page as much as you want. And we were taking this whole big path.
00:43:29
Speaker
Fun times. We were in call for like four hours. Yeah. My God. Every website crashed. Or I shouldn't say every website. most of did though Most of them did,
00:43:43
Speaker
Most them did. i have I was actually one of two in the call that didn't get a preorder that night. Oh. It was just a living hell. Everyone was like popping off. They're like, oh oh, I have a processing thing.
00:43:58
Speaker
Oh, I got a text from my bank account saying, do you want to authorize? And the thing is, I got a text saying, do I want to authorize it? And it still didn't go through. It was that hectic.
00:44:11
Speaker
It was living hell going through the entire time. Nothing would load. You were just staring at loading screens of webpages for either the bundle or the the regular, anything like that.
00:44:25
Speaker
And oh my god, it was... nothing like ah you couldn't get anything i was seeing like people say every so often i got this i got this i got this i was really annoyed when a friend of mine who wasn't in the call came in like five minutes later was like you guys get one yet i did i'm like what it was so crazy then i went to sleep as you do it's night time And when I woke up, I was like, you know, GameStop will have their and orders go live at 8 a.m. Pacific, 11 a.m.
00:45:04
Speaker
Eastern. Exact same thing happened. Exact same thing happened. i I said at work, like I just said, I'm going to take a quick 15-minute break. And I'm like 35 minutes in, still on my break. Like, nothing has happened yet.
00:45:21
Speaker
I can't do anything. So then... I said, hey, I said in my ah work slack, I said, hey, I have to stop by somewhere at 11 this morning. I'll be in a little bit later than normal, right?
00:45:34
Speaker
Uh-huh. And so I went to GameStop and I saw how long the line was and I said, you know what?
00:45:45
Speaker
I'll stand in this line. An hour and 45 minutes later, an hour and forty five minutes later They had plenty of stock.
00:45:57
Speaker
We just had to wait for everybody to get through the, for some reason, one employee going through these pre-orders. Ooh. But I did get the console.
00:46:08
Speaker
I have a pre-order. And, you know, I'm even happier with it because i get to go and pick it up day of at the store instead of wait for it to be shipped to me. I'm way happier with that.
00:46:20
Speaker
Yeah, no, honestly, I i would be too. um that That definitely is a war story. That's much more exciting than mine. um I woke up... Pre-orders went live the previous set. I'm like, I'm not even going to try to bother with Best Buy or Walmart Canada or any of that.
00:46:38
Speaker
I'm like, I'll... because I looked at what time GameStop was opening there. So I'm like, oh, okay, good. 10 a.m. Mountain Time is when they're opening theirs. I'm like, okay, cool. I go to sleep. I wake up at like 9.45-ish, log on to the computer, get into the GameStop website, sign in.
00:46:56
Speaker
And right after I signed in, they put me in the queue. I'm like, oh, cool. I guess I'll just wait. And so I'm just doing my dailies in Final Fantasy XIV. And I look to the side. I'm like, oh, the website's up.
00:47:11
Speaker
go try to order the bundle. The bundle out of stock, sadly. Like, damn, it's only been 20 minutes. It was like 20 after 10 that I got in, and its and the pre-orders were essentially for that were out. I'm like, okay, well, can I get a regular one?
00:47:26
Speaker
Yep. And so I got my, so I pre-ordered the standard Switch 2. And yeah that that was it was that was it. Boom, boom, 20 minutes, roughly. I'm like, oh, cool. That was, that was, ah that wasn't That wasn't too bad.
00:47:43
Speaker
i will say i liked how they had dealt with it in person, right? So there was technically two employees. There was the one running the register and then they had someone going through the line with like stock of what they were being allocated and going down the line and like having you fill out a piece of paper that's like, what can you want of this? And you would mark it down on his little sheet to like count down his inventory.
00:48:07
Speaker
And I really appreciated that because I waited an hour 45 minutes to get mine, but when he got to me in the line, it was only like 20 minutes waiting.
00:48:18
Speaker
I got the bundle and I got a pro controller, and I knew that I had it. I just had to wait. And that is such a nice easy like ease of mind thing, especially compared to, if you remember, not really the PS5 launch.
00:48:35
Speaker
I feel like that was kind of a soft launch, but like the PS4 launch was...
00:48:41
Speaker
I don't know, barbarism? I guess. Yeah, like, when the PS5 and Series X launched as well, it was amidst the pandemic, and there was not a lot of stock.
00:48:53
Speaker
Exactly. Compared to the Switch 2, which seems to have a lot more of a stock comparatively, ah is it's like night and day, and specifically, like, I mean, we got reports that Japan alone, there were 2.2 million requests ah for pre-order for the Switch 2.
00:49:13
Speaker
but That's just requests. like That's not even like fulfilled pre-orders um because they do a lottery system in Japan to get the pre-orders. and There's still like um a batch of pre-orders still coming with the My Nintendo site pre-orders opening on May 8th.
00:49:31
Speaker
Yeah, so that's actually going to be an interesting thing. I have a couple of friends who still don't have pre-orders. And if you actually go back to that, where you would sign up for that pre-order registry where they'll email you, they've added a disclaimer to note that it's not necessarily guaranteed before the console launch anymore.
00:49:52
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, that's like that's the case that's the case with my pre-order too. is like it's like it's the It's a request for the pre-order, not the full pre-order.
00:50:03
Speaker
So like i there's a chance I may not get it, but like according to what I've seen um with GameStop Canada specifically, they still have consoles in stock like for pre-order. So I think looking at that, i like when I pre-ordered it and a couple of days later, it's like, oh yeah, they still have stock. I'm like, oh, I should be fine then.
00:50:23
Speaker
Because obviously if they still have stock a couple of days after the fact, then I'm pretty confident that it shouldn't be an issue, at least. At least you would you mentally you would think that too. like That would be like the same thing to think, right? right like I'm not crazy, right?
00:50:40
Speaker
No. Yeah. But ah no the number of pre-orders is absolutely crazy, especially after you know people were saying, oh, This is going to be like the Wii

Public Perception of Switch 2

00:50:50
Speaker
U. People are going to pre-order this. It's not going to be that crazy because of the prices and everything.
00:50:57
Speaker
And then it's like sold out everywhere.
00:51:01
Speaker
like Everyone likes Mario Kart. Everyone likes Mario... Nintendo fans fold easy. like It's it's it's yeah it's ah it's ah it's a pattern.
00:51:14
Speaker
Nintendo fans are the easiest to fold because no one doesn't quite like Nintendo. Their exclusives are some of the best exclusives out there.
00:51:25
Speaker
Because you're not unless you pirate the games, you're not going to play them anywhere else. o I will be totally honest and say the only reason I went for a free order, I guess they should say there are two reasons that I went for free order.
00:51:40
Speaker
The primary reason is because I'm expecting a similar thing to happen with what happened with the Switch, where if there's some kind of hardware fault to mod it as early as possible, because I anticipate I'll be speedrunning something on the Switch too, right?
00:51:56
Speaker
That I would like that capability The Switch 1 earlier models are the ones that you can actually break. Otherwise, you need to hardware mod it yourself, put in a soft mod chip, and that's how you do it. And I would not like to do that. I don't want to actually like solder something to my console.
00:52:19
Speaker
I don't yeah like that. And also, that's going to take a lot more time to develop. So having that vulnerability possibility... I absolutely wanted a day one Switch 2.
00:52:30
Speaker
Absolutely. I just don't want to go through what it was like to get a PS5 and wait like months on end when there are... Now, granted, thankfully, the PS5 when it launched didn't have like a whole lot of exclusives that I wanted to play.
00:52:44
Speaker
The Switch 2 does. And I just want to play those exclusives, man. i yeah I just want to play Forza Mario, man. Yeah. i'm I'm ready for Forza Mario. I'm ready for and Prime 4, which, yeah, you could play it on the Switch 1.
00:52:59
Speaker
Yes, and like that's a nice thing. I'm still, and going to say it again, I'm still surprised that Prime 4 is not a launch title. I thought it was going a launch title for the Switch 2. And it's not. it's It is surprising. It's very surprising.
00:53:13
Speaker
It is. um How does public discourse look now compared to when we first saw the Switch 2?
00:53:25
Speaker
I feel like we've had a lot of calming down of, you know, what you were saying about people saying it's going to be a Wii U, it's going to be a Wii U. I feel like we had a lot of calming down in that regard where the people who are negative on it are, you know, shutting up and the people who are positive on it are just kind of happy that they're getting their consoles and...
00:53:44
Speaker
That's frankly how it always should be. You know, like you see people say similar things about PlayStation 5 doesn't have games. So like so few exclusives, basically everything comes to PC anyways.
00:53:55
Speaker
But let people play on PlayStation if they want to. Don't just just let people be who they want to be. And, you know, Nintendo gets a lot of hate for especially its fans for just enjoying the games that they enjoy.
00:54:10
Speaker
And I'm happy to see the status quo kind of go back to where it was instead of a weird amount of vitriol towards just people that want a console.
00:54:23
Speaker
No, definitely. how Okay, by the end of 2025, how many Switch 2s do you think will be sold? oh So we've sold 2.2 million in Japan already. Oh yeah, true. like That's essentially like 2.2 million right there because we know that that's like what the demand is. that Realistically, that's how many they're going get.
00:54:42
Speaker
Yeah. So globally, I would say end of the year is hard to say because we can't anticipate what a restock for the holidays will look like, right? That's a lot harder.
00:54:56
Speaker
But i I'll say it's easily going to clear 5 mil. I would say it probably clears 5 mil even on launch. I don't know that we'll quite get to 10 mil this year, though. Okay.
00:55:09
Speaker
Do you think the Switch 2 will surpass the Switch 1 and potentially surpass the DS and the PlayStation 2? In terms of initial burst of ah sales, yes.
00:55:26
Speaker
in terms of long-term sales, the PS2 seems to sell more and more consoles, even like as other consoles approach it, which is really weird. have you heard about that all?
00:55:38
Speaker
No, I've not. I'm like, I'm looking at right now. So the PS2 has sold over 160 million units. The DS comes in second with 154, uh, billion. And then the switch at third place is 150 billion. Yeah.
00:55:53
Speaker
so the ah The figures for the PlayStation 2, as the Switch started to approach it, there were memes going around on social media because the actual number on so on like Wikipedia and stuff and quoted would increase for the PlayStation 2 in 2024, right? Huh. It's like...
00:56:18
Speaker
right it's ah like You just want to hold on to that title. You can have the title. I don't think anybody really cares, but what are you doing? So will it surpass the PlayStation 2?
00:56:31
Speaker
No, nothing will. Someone out there is still selling millions of PlayStation 2. Apparently, either that or they're just fabricating the truth. and No, never.
00:56:43
Speaker
Just like how anime fans continue to say that Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is the best rated anime ever. Even though every time something comes close or does surpass it, they review bomb whatever it was.
00:56:57
Speaker
Yeah, definitely can't hide the truth of the matter by just lying on the Internet. like let like Benjamin Franklin once said, nobody goes on the Internet just to tell lies.
00:57:12
Speaker
ah you're right. So that's a very, you know what? You got listen to Ben Franklin at the of the day. Exactly. That man knows his Internet culture. He does. i heard that on the Internet. Yeah.
00:57:28
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. um For those who are still on the fence about a Switch 2, what other games could they announce as exclusives to get more people excited for it?
00:57:41
Speaker
Mario. Where's my 3D Mario? yeah yeah Yeah, that's that's a given. It's a new 3D Mario. and about Doug Bowser actually in a recent interview said when asked about it, he just said, wait and see.
00:57:53
Speaker
I'm not surprised there hasn't been an announcement for a 3D Mario. what If I had to wager a guess what they're doing is they're going to have Donkey Kong Bonanza come out, and Donkey Kong Bonanza is probably that Donkey Kong game the Odyssey team was working on that was talked about years ago.
00:58:11
Speaker
Yeah. So I imagine they're going to see how Donkey Kong does, giving it as much support as they can. They don't want anyone to be like, I can just wait until Mario comes out after Donkey Kong's had its initial hype.
00:58:25
Speaker
Give it a little bit of time, a little bit of time for the dust to settle. Then they're going to announce the Mario game for their holiday title. Because that's effectively a second like surge of console sales.
00:58:39
Speaker
They can absolutely do that. Yeah, no, that makes sense. As a business strategy, G2, that's just very smart. And i'm I'm surprised I didn't even think of that, of them doing it like that. Even though it's like yeah, that's the most logical thing they could do is get Mario out for the holiday season and make the ah a new bundle with that 3D Mario game.
00:59:02
Speaker
and And I think that that's exactly what they're going to do. Other things that they could do to get people more on board... You know, we've only had Splatoon 3 for a little bit, but give us Splatoon 4. you know how many people like Splatoon, at least internationally? It's not as big in, like, North America, but Splatoon's massive.
00:59:23
Speaker
Give them their online game. I mean, they're getting Mario Kart, but give the other online community and that Nintendo has their game. You'll have longevity for your console right there. Yeah. No, definitely.
00:59:35
Speaker
um Do you have a theory about Smash Bros? Do you think they're going to give a ah an updated Switch 2 version of Ultimate, or are they going to make ah new Smash Bros?
00:59:46
Speaker
Okay, so Sakurai is working on Kirby Air Riders. Yes. i I imagine there is a Smash project. I don't think they're going to just update Ultimate. I imagine there is a Smash project.
01:00:01
Speaker
I don't think we'll see it for a few years.
01:00:06
Speaker
Ultimate has been out for seven years. Will be this year, I should say. Oh, jeez. Wow. Yeah. Oh, my God. Wow. Seven years. Wow.
01:00:18
Speaker
At this point, I could very easily see them going for... It's a generational game in their mind, because they put so much stock in how the Smash game comes out.
01:00:33
Speaker
I could see them taking three more years with it and releasing it around the 10 year of Ultimate. Actually, you know, oh, that makes sense. Yeah.
01:00:43
Speaker
Yeah, because then you could make it similar to Ultimate, where you could bring back all the characters, because at this point, it's like, I feel like you've got to, right? Like, and not cutting people cutting with how big you made Smash, it's like, it would feel almost disrespectful to the game franchise to cut everybody anymore.
01:01:04
Speaker
Exactly. So yeah, but that's what they can do. Cater to your casual audience. Cater to the people that will just... Not and not even like casual audience, I should say your broad audience.
01:01:16
Speaker
The people that are going to play Smash. The people that to play Mario Kart, which we're getting. and like Metroid Prime is great, Donkey Kong is great, but when was the last time we had a Metroid Prime game? was on the Wii. When this last time we had a Donkey Kong game that wasn't a 2D side-scroller? It was on the Nintendo 64.
01:01:34
Speaker
Actually, no, it wasn't. There's Donkey Konga, but it's Donkey Konga. Yeah, but dony do but Donkey Konga is still a 2D platformer. Oh, yeah.
01:01:45
Speaker
No, you're you're right. It just uses bongos, and it fucking hurts, because I own it and have played it. is zeroed up or sorry It's Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. That's the one that does that. Konga is just the rhythm game.
01:01:58
Speaker
Yeah, i was going to say, thought Konga was the rhythm game. Yeah, Konga's the rhythm game. Both hurt, but for different reasons. Konga, at least it's like, oh yeah, you're beating to the rhythm. It's fine. Fucking Jungle Beat. No, that one hurts.
01:02:11
Speaker
That one hurts a lot. le yeah tro i I can only imagine how... so one of that We'll talk more about... the SGDQ games list, I'm sure.
01:02:23
Speaker
But ah one of the things that I had submitted on that vein is Ocarina of Time using the bongos. Oh my god. Ocarina of Time 80% using the bongos. And ah it didn't get in. Spoiler alert.
01:02:36
Speaker
Damn.
01:02:38
Speaker
You're not wrong. is I wouldn't say it hurts, but it's definitely weird. Very, very weird doing that. The controller is just odd. Someone who never used it before doing that project.
01:02:50
Speaker
What? Yeah, it definitely very odd. Oh, God. It's been a while. I got to pull my bongos again to just and maybe contemplate using them again.
01:03:04
Speaker
Time for a Jungle Deep playthrough. Do you think the $80 price tag of Mario Kart World is the biggest setback for the system?

Mario Kart World Pricing Debate

01:03:12
Speaker
I think that there is an issue with having that be the price point, right?
01:03:17
Speaker
ah I think that it's not anything against what Nintendo's doing. If we were to get into like the whole debate on it, games have stayed the same price for a long time. They haven't been inflated until now, and that's where this issue comes in, is that they're now seeing the effect that basically every other market has seen, right?
01:03:37
Speaker
Yeah. But the problem is that it's polarizing because of that. Mm-hmm. I think that it is going to be a setback. I think that because it's just become this weird topic and point of contention for everything, I think it will be a genuine setback for the system.
01:04:01
Speaker
Like, I just think it will be. It could hurt sales quite a bit. Yeah. That said, I got my bundle. I got it for 50 bucks.
01:04:12
Speaker
And I'm well off that I can afford Mario Kart at 100 Canadian. move Yeah, it's fine. Like, a being Canadian and playing video games, we're kind of just used to the more expensive stuff anyways, because, you know, all of our games have been like 20 bucks higher than the U.S. for a while.
01:04:34
Speaker
What's another 10 bucks extra gonna really do? I'm dying on the inside, if you can't tell. can see.
01:04:46
Speaker
ah No, it's honestly it is what it is. you Like it was going to happen eventually and it wasn't going to happen it with Mario Kart. It was going to happen with GTA.
01:04:56
Speaker
Like there's no way that GTA is going to be $70 USD game. ah If we quote the price point they said years ago now, it's going to be $100.
01:05:08
Speaker
yeah s And that might even still change. We're going to have a repeat of this with GTA because it's going to reach a broader audience. Yep. Oh, yeah, definitely. And it's goingnna be even it's gonna be what's going to make it even better is that, at least with Mario Kart, there's only going to be one version of the game.
01:05:27
Speaker
With Grand Theft Auto 6, there's going to be a regular version, ah deluxe version, and a golden deluxe version. Yep. And they're all going to be more and more pricey, and that is when Twitter is going to be a shitstorm.
01:05:45
Speaker
Yeah. But then again, when you think about it, the Twitter people who are talking about it are the vocal minority, like in everything, like the majority of people kind of just don't care.
01:05:57
Speaker
And while the vocal minority think that they're in a majority, they're really not in the broader scale of things. They just really do not have a sense of their size. I think the world revolves around the internet when, while it kind of does, the internet's just there as a tool.
01:06:14
Speaker
It's not the whole thing. Go touch grass. That's my PSA for the day. Go touch some grass, folks. Yep. It's good for your hands.
01:06:25
Speaker
It is. it is. it it really it really is. you know what? After today, I'm going to go touch some grass myself. Hey, that's a good thing. And then I'm going smoke some.
01:06:39
Speaker
Yeah, fair enough. You know, I was just thinking about like, does the, you know, like eucalyptus, well, I guess eucalyptus is like a tree, but like there's, you know, different grass soaps. Does that count if I use that?
01:06:54
Speaker
Oh, that's, that's, a you see, that's the real question right now. Does grass soap count as touching grass? I mean, I guess on a technicality, Exactly.
01:07:07
Speaker
So that's how you become one with nature. Everybody go buy all natural grass soap. Exactly. Is there anything else you want to add on the switch to before we get it to our second topic?
01:07:19
Speaker
Oh, I don't have many thoughts on it, but we didn't talk at all about the mouse click thing. Oh my God. Okay. Actually. Yeah. like The, the mouse controls, those are, mean, I've been looking at that, like looking back at that. That's still, it's, it's funny.
01:07:37
Speaker
It's still kind of weird though. Right. it's going to be weird. It's going to be weird. The thing that I, so I'm a bit of a shooter purist in that sense where I almost play all of my shooters on PC, on keyboard mouse, because ok it's more natural to me. Okay.
01:07:54
Speaker
I'm curious how Prime 4 is going to feel as a result of that. Oh, yeah. Is it going to feel more natural? I might genuinely enjoy the game lot more because of that. It's also going to be... I'm surprised Nintendo didn't advertise Nintendo-branded mouse pads for the Switch 2 mouse controller. And they they make them, too. Well, at least the Pokemon company does. like They give out mouse pads. like They sell mouse pads for ah the trading card game.
01:08:26
Speaker
right They have the yeah yeah the mats, yeah the big math and they are the exact same material. So, there you go. Yeah. well Hey, Nintendo, if you're a so Doug Bowser, if you're somehow listening to this, ah please pass on to the the big corpo heads of Nintendo Japan to, ah I don't know, make an official switch to mouse pad with the booba, with the wrist rest, with the booba rest.
01:08:52
Speaker
Yeah. Give Mario some tits. No, give me a butt pad. Give me a butt pad. I want use Waluigi's ass. Oh, yeah.
01:09:03
Speaker
Make Waluigi. Give me an extra large one for Wario that I can rest of both my wrists on. There you go. What are you even doing?
01:09:15
Speaker
I don't even know. You know what? Nintendo, this is an untapped market. Come on. I think it's tapped into if you go on Etsy, but you know you're not wrong. It's not officially tapped into. It's not officially tapped, but people are tapping.
01:09:30
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. but This is your public service reminder that most FPS shooters are in a three-dimensional space. So you have to look up once in a while because that camper that you were complaining about has been standing on the same light standard the whole time because you refuse to look up.
01:09:50
Speaker
You're letting your whole team down. It's time for us to move on to our second topic of the

Games Done Quick 2025 Preview

01:09:56
Speaker
day. And that topic is amazing games done quick 2025. They have come out with their game list and it's got some, it's got some pretty good things. But first, before we get into the game list itself, I just want to talk about GDQ for a second. And Glovers, what are your current thoughts on the past couple of GDQ events?
01:10:16
Speaker
Ooh, okay. So I've actually... like I started going to the events with SGDQ 2024, and generally... that like You're probably talking about how the games list has been and the event overall, but I've just come to enjoy attending them, not so much for...
01:10:33
Speaker
Watching the runs because I'll be real, the amount of time that I spend in the like in the stream room is very, very little. But having the kind of event that I can meet up and hang out with friends that I mostly see online, love it. Absolutely love it. It's effectively, because I can afford it, vacations that I'll take when I can, right? As they come up.
01:10:57
Speaker
Because I just... Love the experience of going out with friends. Go figure. I'm a human. I'm a social animal. I like hanging out with my friends. And that is basically my thoughts on the past couple of GDQs.
01:11:10
Speaker
They've been great because I've not been watching the stream. I've been hanging out with friends in a random city. ah you know what that's pretty fair um that that's that that's pretty fair it's definitely a different take than i was expecting but like it yeah i mean if i had to talk more about it in a vain sense i really liked agdq 2025 because i ran at it so oh wait real actually wait oh fuck i yeah i ran echoes of wisdom i was the second to last run of the event oh shit oh fuck i got i miss i gotta to go watch that then i completely missed that
01:11:44
Speaker
Yeah, it was a the final bonus game of the event. i was right after ZFG did Ocarina of Time. It was an amazing time. i but like Genuine, life-changing experience. i I talk with like Cloud, who ran Tears of the Kingdom at it, or just...
01:12:00
Speaker
anybody who's run at any event and i'm like you know we can joke around and say haha yeah it was it was a great little time and you know we got to just go and shitpost on mike for a little while but you can also look at it from another lens of like yeah now i legitimately can say i have done a performance in front of 80 000 people yeah oh my god wow that's a that's a way of putting it holy fuck Genuine life-changing experience. Loved it.
01:12:30
Speaker
And ah I'm hooked. I'm submitting to smaller events, different events. Like there's going to be in a month from now, there's going to be some submissions for PAX West. GDQ has an event at PAX West, a much smaller one.
01:12:43
Speaker
ah I live in Seattle. PAX West is it in Seattle. Oh, perfect. It drives. It's like a 20-minute drive. i just go. Oh, perfect. Even better. Yeah.
01:12:55
Speaker
Nice. um What kind of trends do you see the events going? Okay, so there's a couple of directions that you can take this. You can take it in terms of attendance or in terms of donations or in terms of quality of run, right? Yeah.
01:13:12
Speaker
I would say attendance and like money made, money like raised or raised for charity. That's the word. Thank you. ah For charity.
01:13:24
Speaker
They are had a peak before COVID, especially in terms of attendance. That shot way down when they went back to being in person. If you look at their online events, those...
01:13:35
Speaker
were some of the worst events in a long time, but we're getting momentum back. More and more people are registering for the events again. More and more people are showing up to the events, donating. there There's been higher peaks and...
01:13:50
Speaker
We're not back to where we were before yet, but we're getting there. And that is great, right? The momentum is coming back. In terms of run quality, I have thoughts about the games list, and I'm a Zelda nerd, and Zelda got shafted.
01:14:07
Speaker
So, yeah, I think we'll get to that next then and talk about um this upcoming SDQ game list highlights, lowlights. Let's start with you, Glovers. What are your highlights and lowlights of the game list?
01:14:22
Speaker
Oh, so Mr. Shasta got Phantom Hourglass. And if we want to talk about the what little Zelda there is. yeah Mr. Shasta had been submitting Phantom Hourglass for literal years.
01:14:32
Speaker
He's the record holder for the game. The game has never been shown off at GDQ. And it's a really it's one of the speed runs that you don't look at and say this is hype and exciting.
01:14:45
Speaker
It's one that you look at and say this is fun to watch. Technical. There's you know, there are glitches like there's wrong warping. Yeah. And it's low key. It's chill.
01:14:58
Speaker
Okay. Just vibe to it. And I love that. I'm so happy that he got that in. ah Other than Shasta getting that in, there's i have a couple of buddies that I hang out with at GDQ. Johanian got mario car or Super Mario Kart in, the last one.
01:15:16
Speaker
And that's going to be an amazing run to watch because Mario Kart runs are interesting in what they end up doing. I don't know if you watch Abney or anything, but seeing the skits that they do are always way out there.
01:15:30
Speaker
I love it. uh and then em and dawn emerald and dawn sr their archipelago getting it is so hype yeah they got in they got to do an an essay to archipelago emerald hunt uh super shout outs both of them my goats both of them former guests on the podcast as well um and super happy to see them getting in um that's probably like the i the one run that i know i'm gonna tune in for For sure.
01:15:58
Speaker
that it's I'm so happy for them. They've both been submitting different things for a very, very long time. And going back a little bit to the ah GDQ trends, they have this trend of people that get in once tend to get in again because you have verifiability behind your performance quality that they can directly reference.
01:16:19
Speaker
yeah And it's it's not to say there's anything malicious by it behind it, but... but them getting that in means that they can theoretically get in what they're more hyped to get in. i don'm I'm sure they're happy to get SA2 in, but I know that Dawn, for example, what had been submitting, a think it was Generations for a long time, or maybe it was Origins, and he ah he likes, he wants that in.
01:16:42
Speaker
um So... No, it's great for them. They moved from, because I know, oh God, last year... It was at one of the 2024 events that they got.
01:16:56
Speaker
They were on Alpha Dolphin's couch. Both them and Don were. And now they've gone from the couch to the stage. Yep. And couldn't be happier for um Yeah, absolutely hyped for the boys. oh What other ones you excited for or not excited for?
01:17:13
Speaker
Okay, ah let's see. One that surprised me. So TGH is a very well acclaimed runner. ah He's also a Zelda runner, but he does other stuff other than Zelda.
01:17:24
Speaker
He'll be running Link's Awakening DX, which is I'm not going to say my favorite run. It's one that i'm not hyped for. It's also just surprising.
01:17:37
Speaker
He's been grinding Minish Cap hard. He's gotten Minish Cap into multiple events, like PAX East has that same speedrun staves that GDQ does, and he's doing Minish Cap there.
01:17:48
Speaker
It's really surprising that they took Link's Awakening to me. oh Because Minish Cap is such a good run. Love watching Minish Cap run. It is so technical. It has a lot of RNG manipulations. it has a lot of, you know, clipping through geometry. And it's so fun to watch. And TGH does it at such a high level.
01:18:08
Speaker
Then you look at Link's Awakening DX and... In my mind, it's boring. oh It's very simple. So... I don't know. I think they lost out on what would have been a better run with a similar estimate. of it There's only about a 20-minute difference.
01:18:25
Speaker
ah yeah. that's not That's not too bad for estimate difference.
01:18:31
Speaker
Okay, okay. What about you? What do you have? ah So from going over the game list, Bellatro, there's a Bellatro, the seven deck, getting a random seed and skips being run um by Cloys or Clois. I don't know which how you how you to pronounce it, so I apologize if I do butcher your names.
01:18:53
Speaker
um That one seems interesting to me because I'm like, oh, okay. I'd like to see like how, like when it comes to roguelikes like Bellatrol and whatnot, iss like I want to know how they use the RNG to their advantage slash disadvantage in a run like that. So always interesting to see those.

Speedrunning Highlights: Neon White and More

01:19:09
Speaker
um There is a Heaven Rush race in Neon White ah being done by like five runners. i I'm just big fan of Neon White. Loved the game.
01:19:20
Speaker
It was like my runner-up for Game of the Year. ah The year it came out, it only it was Tunic is the one game that beat it out. ah But ah excited to see that. And probably the weirdest one that I'm surprised to see in there that I definitely want to see how the speedrun looks is Roller Coaster Tycoon.
01:19:40
Speaker
Yeah. Loopy Landscapes FF% You know. And ah yeah, I'm excited. I'm interested to see how that one goes because I have no, I had no clue that you could speed run roller coaster tycoons.
01:19:55
Speaker
I mean, i feel like it's possible to speedrun any game if you give yourself the right set of conditions, but it does make me go, how do you do that? How do you speedrun Roller Coaster Tycoon?
01:20:07
Speaker
So that was that was very interesting. I'm really hoping that that's at a time where I'm sitting up in someone's room, drunk off my ass, and just watching thing happen, because I would i feel like that's that kind of run.

Sonic Heroes Bid War

01:20:22
Speaker
You know what? Fair. um In terms of Sonic, ah aside from Em and Dawn, the legend herself, KD4, is going to be speedrunning Sonic Heroes um with a poll. It's either going to be Team Chaotix or Team Sonic, depending on what ah has more votes ah through your donations.
01:20:42
Speaker
um and That'll determine that run. And yeah, that's that's about it for me. but i love That took interest. I love a good bid war, but if I'm going to be completely honest, I don't know enough about heroes to know if this would even functionally work, but Team Sonic's just going to floor Team Chaotix. I know Chaotix is the more interesting run.
01:21:01
Speaker
Chaotix, of all four teams, Chaotix is the most different speed run compared to the other three. Mm-hmm. People won't know that. When you're going for something like GDQ, you're going to cater to the casual viewer in terms of things like your Bitwar, right?
01:21:17
Speaker
You can show off your cool speed tech and you can show off like the technicality, and that's amazing. But what you really have to do is cater to people who are watching it for the first time. They don't know anything about what you're doing, and they can ooh and ah at stuff, and I'm sure Chaotix is great for that.
01:21:34
Speaker
But when you put it up to a bidwark and say Team Sonic or Team Chaotix, everyone's going for Sonic every single time. The average Sonic the Hedgehog fan probably doesn't know what a Chaotix is.
01:21:48
Speaker
Yeah. ah If it was Sonic and Dark, I could see Dark winning.

Favorite GDQ Moments

01:21:54
Speaker
Yes, no um especially with ah with house with Shadow and everything that happened with ah last year with ah Shadow Gens and the Sonic 3 movie.
01:22:03
Speaker
Exactly. It would be a much closer bid war than what will most likely happen with Chaotix in Sonic. Exactly. Or Amy and Chaotix. That would be a really good one, too, because then it's kind of hitting that second tier of what are either of these.
01:22:20
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. No, definitely. um Last thing I want to ask you, ah because it's not really this isn't really a super heavy topic. What what are some favorite moments from GDQs that stand out to you the most?
01:22:35
Speaker
Am I allowed to cheat and say my run? um Aside from your run. Okay, so... ah There's a lot of different parts of GDQ that have stood out to me. So, for example, there was a Twilight Princess HD run that Fino did and years ago now, ah close to a decade. The game almost came out a decade ago now.
01:22:56
Speaker
It was either 2017 or 2018, and that was the run that actually got me interested in doing runs myself. Not of, well, yes, of Twilight Princess, but I spent a long time kind of not doing a game that long because I was like, I can't really justify the time. i eventually took the dive and did it. And that's when I started running Zelda games. I've been doing it ever since.
01:23:16
Speaker
But that was a crux moment for me to just get into it myself. So absolutely, there's that kind of a point for that run specifically.
01:23:27
Speaker
Okay, nice. any Any others? oh Let's see.

SGDQ 2024 Announcement

01:23:33
Speaker
I thought it was funny when the Mario 64 TAS at this last AGDQ had a corruption error and they had to restart the TAS.
01:23:43
Speaker
I was drunk when it happened, but I was laughing at it. ha ha! Oh my God. Damn. The robot blew up. Sad. Yep. Yep. Oh, sevens.
01:23:54
Speaker
Oh, sevens in the chat for those seven pass the robot. um All right. Well, is there anything else about SGDQ that you would like to add? Glovers? Nope. It's going to be fun. I'm going to go and I'm going to barely be in the stream room. Just like I did the last couple times.
01:24:09
Speaker
Oh, I guess last question I should ask. What is SGDQ this year? When are the dates? Okay, so the first day of the event is Sunday, July 6th. So it's a couple days. It's ah Independence Day weekend for Americans.
01:24:23
Speaker
And the end of it is the following Saturday, which is the twelfth So it's the July 6th through July 12th. It's going to be a week long, fun, fun time.
01:24:35
Speaker
And for anybody who's going to be there, most people are going to be there from Saturday to Sunday. So yeah good nine day long vacation with the gamers, you know? Go gamers.
01:24:46
Speaker
All right. Go gamers. Let's go. All right.

Obscure Zelda Items Tournament

01:24:51
Speaker
Well, with that, it's time for us to start wrapping things up and head on into the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And to kick it off, we've got our brand new segment this season, Game Clash.
01:25:08
Speaker
This is a small little eight-entry tournament, randomly seeded, of specific games or game topics. And Glovers, for you, I decided a good theme to pick would be Legend of Zelda items, but the more obscure Zelda items.
01:25:26
Speaker
Alright. So, to start the match one, we've got the shovel against the Goron bracelets. the core If we're just saying, what would I prefer? It's the Goron bracelets. I like the strength upgrade more than the shovel. I'm sorry. Ha ha ha ha ha.
01:25:45
Speaker
Fair enough. Fair enough. All right. Match two. We've got the bomb chew versus the bug net. Absolutely. The bomb chew. That's not even a contest. Like the bomb chew is blue bomb cat with a cat face that glides on the ground.
01:26:01
Speaker
And if you go in the speed runs, it's really useful. Really, really useful. i've gotten yeah But you can parry demise with it in Skyward Sword.
01:26:14
Speaker
That's true. That is true. Can you do that with a bomb shoe? I don't think so. pair of demise? There's no bomb shoes in Skyward Sword, so I don't think so. They're hard. Match three, we got the Pegasus Boots versus the Dominion Rod.
01:26:30
Speaker
Who doesn't like running? The answer is a lot of people, but Pegasus Boots. but there that That's yeah what valid. i For the fourth match, the Gus Nellos versus the Tingle Tuner.
01:26:44
Speaker
Okay, so hear me out for a second. The Gust Bellows is the worst item that Zelda has ever had because I'm sorry, but dusting is not a great mechanic.
01:26:55
Speaker
It's slow, its impact is low, and it's not an interesting impact. The answer is the Tingle Tuner. And the Tingle Tuner, let's go!
01:27:06
Speaker
The Game Boy that looks like Tingle! I have active anger with tingle tuners because I use them in runs and I have mine die mid run multiple times, but still wins over the Gus Bill. I was just being stupid. Okay. Going into the semifinals, we got the Goron bracelets versus the bomb chew.
01:27:27
Speaker
It's absolutely still the bomb chew. Goron bracelets. Cool. Like you you get to have a little strength up, bre but come on. Cat face bomb sliding.
01:27:39
Speaker
Okay. ah And the Pegasus Boots versus the Tingle Tuner.
01:27:45
Speaker
oh I'm going to go with Pegasus Boots. It's a hard one. The Tingle Tuner is so cool, though. Okay. I'm going to go with Pegasus Boots. Okay. That brings us to our final grand final.
01:27:59
Speaker
The Bomb Chew versus the Pegasus Boots. All right. Now, all of the horse girls out there are to disagree with me on this because Pegasus is a horse.
01:28:09
Speaker
But Bomchu Catface. Come on. It's a fun explosive. It's used for Hessing. It's a very unique item. Like, before the idea of the Bomchu, that's so out there. How do you even come up with that?
01:28:24
Speaker
Right? I mean, they came up with it. Oh, wait. It was because of the Choo Choo's. Exactly. ega The Sega property. Yes, it came from that.
01:28:35
Speaker
But the idea of it is just so unique. How can you not love it? And yeah, Sega comes up with unique, fun stuff. Of course they took it.
01:28:49
Speaker
There. Well, congratulations goes to the Bomb Chew for winning the obscure Zelda item tournament.

Game Franchises That Deserve a Revival

01:31:08
Speaker
Tony's game poll. This is our seasonal poll that changes every season. And this season's question, what franchise deserves a brand new game in 2025 slash 2026 that not been announced yet? Okay,
01:31:21
Speaker
that has not been announced yet
01:31:25
Speaker
okay so We gave the the easy layup right earlier when we said Mario. Uh-huh. That's the easy layup. Of course, there's going to be a Mario game.
01:31:37
Speaker
I'm going to give a little deeper of a reach and say, I want a new Nier game. Ooh, okay. Nier Automata was great.
01:31:48
Speaker
Nier Replicant was a remake, but it was great. It's been a few years. I don't necessarily need the game this year or even next year. Just give me something.
01:31:58
Speaker
That franchise is one of my favorites. I would like to eat more, right? That game, or that game, the franchise is amazing. Well, if you want to eat more, you could play the hit MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, play all the ways to the end of Shadowbringers, and do the Alliance Raid that's tied with Nier Automata.
01:32:19
Speaker
This is true, or I could play Astroblade when that comes to PC later this year. Oh yeah, that is true, and that's getting near DLC too, I forgot about that. And it drops in June. I believe they finally had a formal release date for it. Is ah in coinciding with their one year anniversary in June, if I recall correctly. oh Okay, then.
01:32:42
Speaker
Well, that's something to look forward to as well.

And it's great. And your game of the week is Doom the Dark Ages. And lastly, Glubbers, if there is a game old or new that you would recommend to the listeners of the podcast right now, what game would that be? Ooh, okay. I have two easy ones.
01:34:24
Speaker
Everyone keeps talking about Claire Obscure to me, and I think that that is a great game that was described to me as if you've ever thought about playing a JRPG but really don't like anime, play Claire Obscure.
01:34:36
Speaker
yeah Honestly, yeah. Actually, yeah, that is a great way to put it. And the second one is Blueprints. People just keep bringing it up. I don't know anything about it, dude.
01:34:49
Speaker
OK, so I'll give you a brief synopsis right here. Blueprints is a game where you play as a and preteen teenager you play as a kid his name is Simon and he is about to inherit his great uncle's mansion banner and basically what he has to do is he has to find the hidden room in this 45 room mansion
01:35:20
Speaker
really And to do that, um it takes a roguelike element of you get this 9x5 grid that you fill up with rooms that have doorways, and your goal is to essentially attach all these doorways and paths and rooms to get to the end.
01:35:39
Speaker
In doing so, you'll uncover secrets without the throughout the mansion that are full of puzzles, From basic puzzles of like solving witch box is telling the truth to find some resources, to doing math on a darts board, to uncovering a whole conspiracy um about overthrowing the former king. Huh.
01:36:06
Speaker
It's very fucking cool, and I put in 30-something... I put in, like, 40-something hours into that game, and but there are so there's only, like, five things I need to do, which are all, like, do the game on dare mode, curse mode.
01:36:23
Speaker
There's a speedrun achievement for the game. ah To beat the game... so Collect your inheritance within the first day and under an hour. And people have gotten that down to a minute and a half.
01:36:37
Speaker
Dang. all right
01:36:40
Speaker
All right. With glitches. Without glitches, like 20 minutes, obviously. ah that They found a thing where you can phase through the world by repeatedly pressing the blueprint menu and leaving it and essentially you can you glide out of bounds ah go under the map warp back up to a room that you drafted ah but like stay on the edge of it and then from there you go directly to a final point to hit to unlock the hidden room and then you gotta glide your way back
01:37:17
Speaker
Essentially is crazy. Interesting. That actually sounds like something I would check out that I like games that have those short, but really broken runs. Cause it's just like this two minute bite sized. Ha ha. Funny. Right.
01:37:30
Speaker
Yeah. But i no, the game itself is absolutely incredible. And ah if you have PlayStation plus it is free on PlayStation plus through extra and premium tiers.
01:37:42
Speaker
um Otherwise, it's like a $30 game um and very much worth it. It's a really, really cool puzzle puzzle game. It really encourages you to like get a journal and take notes of everything. like that's how cool like That's how cool this game is.
01:37:58
Speaker
um But that that's me gushing about that. Anyways, Glovers, thank you for coming back on the podcast. Yeah, thank you for having me. This is a fun time.
