Introduction to Tony's Game Lounge

00:00:03
Speaker
Welcome to Tony's Game Lounge, a bi-weekly podcast that covers everything in the world of video games, TCG, tabletop, and more. Here's your host, Tony14. Hello, everybody, and welcome to a brand new season of the Tony's Game Lounge podcast, Season 10.
00:00:21
Speaker
had I am your host, as always, Tony14. And joining us this week is a returning guest with a new name, because they had a different name, a slightly different name. We still know them as Carrots. It's Mama Carrots. Hello. Hi. Season 10, you get me first. Heck yeah. Let's go. Yeah.
00:00:43
Speaker
I'm the important guest. I get to be episode one of season 10. Sorry, everybody else. How are you, Carrots? I'm doing pretty good. Excellent.
00:00:55
Speaker
Are you excited for what we have to talk about today? i am. i i have been I've been scrolling over the script for like almost three four times. It's not a script. It's an outline. You're right. It's the outline.
00:01:11
Speaker
i'm not on the podcast lingo.

Pokemon Presents Announcements

00:01:14
Speaker
Well, ah because you're a returning guest, we actually just get to dive right in to the headline of the week to kick things off today. um And just for some clarification to the folks at home, we because we take off January and February, we will not be covering the state of play that happened in early February because it's old now.
00:01:35
Speaker
ah Yeah, but hey, guys, there was a Pokemon Presents Pokemon's 30th anniversary Pokemon Presents.
00:01:47
Speaker
It happened and they announced a bunch of stuff starting with a Pokemon Red and Blue game and music collection, the Game Boy Jukebox. You can pre-order slash order it now, but when I went on the site, it looks like they're already out of stock.
00:02:03
Speaker
oh That makes sense. Isn't surprising. ah What this is, is it's a little mini, like an original Game Boy, a bit smaller, and you put in different ah cartridges that are designed after Pokemon Red and Blue.
00:02:15
Speaker
um And when you put them in, the scene on the Game Boy changes, and it plays the song of that location. So you can, it's 45 tracks, all from the original Pokemon Red and Blue.
00:02:29
Speaker
And I think Yellow, too, because I don't think they changed the music much for that. So ah yeah you get that. ah Price-wise, if they go back in stock, they're around $94 Canadian on the official site.
00:02:43
Speaker
They'll probably be more expensive if you buy them secondhand from somebody else. Pokemon Worlds 2026 and Pokemon XP, which is going to be a big like celebration of Pokemon, big expo of Pokemon. ah Those will be held simultaneously in San Francisco when Pokemon Worlds takes place.
00:03:00
Speaker
ah The Pokemon TCG will be releasing 30th anniversary products simultaneously worldwide. So whatever we get, the rest of the world gets, and it's going to happen all at the same time with whatever they do release from the TCG.
00:03:15
Speaker
Pokemon Go, which is celebrating 10 years, will be seeing a lot a bunch of returning Pokemon um that have been in the game. I guess i I don't know if it's just like increasing spawn rates for like rare Pokemon or whatnot. it's I don't play Go anymore.
00:03:30
Speaker
Pokemon Masters EX is getting three special trainers for their anniversary. A 1996 version of Red and Pikachu, Florian and Ogre Pond, and Juliana and Tarapagos.
00:03:45
Speaker
And if you're wondering who those two people are, those are the ba defaulted names for the Scarlet and Violet Trainer that you play as is Florian and Juliana. Uh, in Cafe Remix, part new partner Pokemon special outfits will be coming, and they're to be coming in, like, waves.
00:04:01
Speaker
Uh, new Mew missions will be beginning in Pokemon Sleep, so you can sleep like Mew. Uh, Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno are coming to Pokemon Unite.
00:04:13
Speaker
Pokemon Pocket has new gift missions to get 10 free pack pulls. Uh, Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness is coming to Nintendo Switch Online GameCube in March, but there was no sign of Pokemon Coliseum.
00:04:28
Speaker
um Very interesting. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are out now, and they will be getting Pokemon Home support down the line, just not right away. Pokemon Champions, the new essentially main format for Pokemon video game competitions, comes out April 2026.
00:04:48
Speaker
Mega Garchomp Z, the Mega Stone to get that Mega Garchomp Z, is now available in Legends ZA through Mystery Gift. Pocopia showed off the brand new DJ Rotom and Chef Dente, which is a Greedent.
00:05:00
Speaker
as well as a couple of new features. And then the big reveal at the very end of the show, which we all knew was coming because of the leaks so long ago.
00:05:12
Speaker
Pokemon wins and Pokemon waves have been officially revealed and we are entering the 10th generation of Pokemon next year exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.
00:05:26
Speaker
oh So there you go, folks. that that There is your reason to get a Switch 2 if you don't have one yet. You have a year to save up money.
00:05:37
Speaker
If you've been holding out for like something big to come out and you're a Pokemon fan, there there it is. That's the only reason to get the Switch 2 is for Pokemon games. This is going to be a Switch 2 seller because Pokemon sells and what they showed, it looks pretty good.
00:05:54
Speaker
It looks pretty good for what we've seen. Obviously, we'll need to see a lot more before we can make really final judgments before the game comes out. But everything graphic-wise looks good. Environments look fine so far. There's going to be a lot of water. So the guy who made that IGN review of too much water is in shambles right now.
00:06:15
Speaker
ah We did also get five new Pokemon revealed. Well, two of them are a form, I guess. We have two new Pikachus. We have Windy Chew and Wavy Chew.
00:06:27
Speaker
They're just Pikachus that have ah outfits on. um These are possibly the Professor's Pokemon or like a like your guide Pokemon. I don't really know. We just saw them briefly, but that is what their official names are as according to the Pokemon website. And we did get to see a first look at the new starter Pokemon,
00:06:47
Speaker
For grass, we have Brout, a grass bird. And it's got leaves for eyebrows. Brout. For water, we have Gekwa, a water gecko.
00:07:00
Speaker
And what I will probably argue is probably the best starter of Generation 10. We have Pombon, a fire-type Pomeranian. Oh, you have sold me, sir. It is the cutest motherfucker I have seen.
00:07:18
Speaker
Like, oh my God, please do not make this bipedal. Now, okay, compare that to like Foakoa from like the last generation. Foikoko? Yeah.
00:07:30
Speaker
yeah The absolute no thought head empty. Just not even elevator music behind those eyes. It is just empty air. Are we talking like that level of cute? ah we're we're talking We're talking like a Pomeranian puppy.
00:07:46
Speaker
Oh, Like, if you like a ball of floof, you're looking at a little ball of floof right now. ah Like, willit you I encourage you to Google it, Carrots.
00:07:57
Speaker
I'm encouraging you to Google Pom Bon. P-O-M-B-O-N. It is one cute motherfucker. Oh, oh my goodness. Oh, I just want to shake him violently. Holy cow. You have no right being that adorable, sir.
00:08:19
Speaker
It's so effing cute. why why are they all why is that Why is with these generations of Pokemon, they're always making one starter just she dumb looking?
00:08:33
Speaker
as is i don't I don't know. Like, my God, he would probably sit on the road on like, a busy highway and just be like, I'm here. and you're like, for the of God, move. And he's like. It's like a cartoon where all the cars are fearing out of the way and it causes this massive crash around bonbon. And the bonbon's fine. And he's just sitting there happy as ever. Yeah, exactly. Not phased at all. And then just goes on his merry way.
00:09:01
Speaker
He got dropped on his head as a child, and then you're like, oh, oh, no. Are you okay, buddy? The big thing, um also, your main trainers, depending on which version you have, will determine their starting hat. Pokemon Wins, they have, like, these cowboy hats. In Pokemon Waves, they have regular, like, ball caps.
00:09:21
Speaker
um So that that's a little that's what the first difference that we have before we get to see version-exclusive Pokemon. It's a bunch of islands, um sort of like Alola.
00:09:35
Speaker
I believe, if I'm correct, region the region is based on... ah Indonesia. It's loosely based on Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
00:09:46
Speaker
That is what winds and waves is roughly based on. um Now, this, of course, is from the leaks, the mega leaks that happened last year um that we kind of know this stuff already. We do not know what the region is called yet.
00:10:01
Speaker
and We do not know the box legendaries yet. I'm sure we'll get more details as the year goes on leading up to next year's release, which we don't know the specific release date for as well. um Realistically, we will either see it as a either an early like a March like a March release Or a, it's either going to be a March, July, or November release, if I was to guess. but Or October, October, October.
00:10:34
Speaker
It's going to one of those three for the release, if I was to guess, knowing Pokemon patterns. Um, so we still have a lot of time before we'll actually see like stuff, which is good.
00:10:46
Speaker
I think Pokemon has done a good thing with learning to like actually space out the games to take time on their games to make sure that they're fully developed after the issues that happened with Scarlet and Violet.
00:11:01
Speaker
Uh, now granted those issues, if you played on switch too, are like basically gone. Uh, but it's like, you know, it's like, it shouldn't, you shouldn't have had to take you a whole other console to like fix that.
00:11:12
Speaker
Yeah. So at least here's the thing we with how the powerful is switch to as compared to the switch, I'm not concerned with the game having issues. It's going to come down to the game itself.
00:11:23
Speaker
Uh, and like, how good is it? Uh, what they do for combat if they stick with the legends? Cause I'm fine. If they stick with kind of like the legends, the a style or like a form of that,
00:11:36
Speaker
Or if they go back to classic turn-based, but like they have ah they have choices. if they give you it If they give you a choice or whatever, um it would be cool to see. ah Yeah, I'm excited.
00:11:48
Speaker
ah Strictly because ah of Pombon. She's so cute. Oh my goodness. And that was the 30th anniversary. Overall, it was very much ah what a lot of people expected. Obviously, the big surprise, like the big things that people did not predict were the red and blue ah music collection.
00:12:09
Speaker
And I mean, people, for people, and I think that's the only thing that people like weren't predicting would be there. Everything else predictable. Yeah, I think the only like Pokemon music I don't like is Lavender Town.
00:12:24
Speaker
does it get Are you affected by the headaches because Yeah, it it it rubs that part of my brain where it just gives me a massive migraine and I feel like throwing up. So anytime I get to any sort of lavender town, i I usually mute my TV. Like, I gotta to get out of here.
00:12:41
Speaker
ah That is fair. um Still, ah the only thing i will add is because we don't, Pokemon Coliseum wasn't announced for GameCube NSO. I do wonder if we will so even see that later this year. Hopefully we do.
00:12:57
Speaker
ah But I'm surprised that Coliseum wasn't announced first for that over X. ah Because Coliseum comes first in the timeline for those two games. But we'll have to wait and see.
00:13:09
Speaker
ah With that, it's now time to cover everything else that happened in these past two weeks leading up to this season 10 premiere. Let's dive into the week in review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review.
00:13:28
Speaker
And starting off, some of the major releases we had. Obviously, Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Resident Evil Requiem is now out. Tales of Berseria Remastered. Towerborn and Aerial Knight's Dropshot. This is, I think, Aerial Knight's third game that he has released.
00:13:46
Speaker
I have only played Aerial Knight's Never Yield, and it's it's a weird auto-scroller type game. That's all I'll have to say

Gaming Industry Updates

00:13:55
Speaker
about that. ah In the world of video game news, starting off, there was also so celebrating its 10-year anniversary, Stardew Valley. 10 years ago, it came out, which is crazy to think that that game is 10 years old now.
00:14:11
Speaker
um So Concerned Dave released a brand new retrospective video. It's about 20 minutes long. ah He goes over like what the early builds of the game looked like when it was called Sprout Valley.
00:14:22
Speaker
um And how the game developed over time. And then it ended with showing off the two brand new marriage candidates coming in the 1.7 update.
00:14:34
Speaker
Clint and Sandy. I can understand like marrying Sandy, but like Clint... So Clint has the internet ah not happy because don't know what happened, but Clint somehow became this face that that the Stardew community painted on him of like incel behavior and just whatnot and it's like when i played the game for the first time i didn't get that i'm like i still don't know why he's not that bad yes like some of his habits are not healthy like i i could say that obviously uh but he's not that bad guys like jet like chill the fuck out this is a video game
00:15:25
Speaker
like Listen, we all have our husbands and waifus in video games. And I feel like if you've done Emily's route, there's like a fashion show you do for her and you help with her and stuff. And then Clint gets like...
00:15:40
Speaker
like really really upset during it and it's like dude it will it's more of mommy it's more of it's more of him being just very self-conscious he felt a bit uncomfortable and he came if you really pay attention to that he comes back at the end to like apologize yeah and that's why he sees you and Emily's like oh I didn't know something was going on sorry yeah and he kind of like ease he gets a bit depressed after that which honestly you know like It's like, okay, you know what? i kind of like Granted, I've never gone for Emily. she's I don't care for Emily.
00:16:16
Speaker
So maybe that's another reason why I just don't care is because i don't care for Emily that much. ah You're going to have some i'm I'm a simple man. I like the Abigail in Vanilla, and I like Sophia in expand Extended.
00:16:34
Speaker
it's I'm a very simple man. i like um ah like the author. Oh, Elliot. And I really like, oh my goodness. What is his name?
00:16:49
Speaker
um It's not Sam. Sam's the blonde. It's the other. Sebastian. Yeah. The one that plays D&D. oh yeah he yeah. He does play D&D.
00:16:59
Speaker
ah yeah not about I about that. I ive perfected the game. I should know all this stuff. I have perfected the game. I perfected the game on extended. I have done so much of that game.
00:17:12
Speaker
God. ah But yeah, no. um So those are coming in 1.7 plus a bunch of new things. We do not know when the 1.7 update will come out yet. And also just remember folks, whenever a new Stardew update comes out, it just delays the ah the release date for Haunted Chocolatier even more.
00:17:29
Speaker
ah ah just I just want to know more about that game. I know. i know. Concern Ape, stop. We have enough. People have mods. We want to be Willy Wonka.
00:17:41
Speaker
Yeah, come on we could just like The modding community for Starter Valley is so huge. Yes. like let Let them keep going. like Work on your next game. You can always come back. Yeah, let the modding community handle updates. Yeah, duh.
00:17:55
Speaker
Just let them do it. Like, just leave it to the people of starting out. Just hire some It's fine. In Xbox news, Phil Spencer, the Microsoft gaming CEO, has retired.
00:18:09
Speaker
And Xbox president Sarah Bond has re resigned. Now, whether or not ah that retirement was fully Phil's choice, we don't actually know. It sounds like it wasn't. Um, as for who's replacing, uh, the head of ah Microsoft, uh, Xbox now, it's Microsoft core AI president Asha Sharma, who is stepping into Phil Spencer's role. And people are still very unsure of the direction that this is going to take Xbox, especially because of her former role with AI.
00:18:41
Speaker
In Final Fantasy news, the Final Fantasy IX picture book focused on Vivi is finally receiving an English version. Vivi and Grandpa's Memories for the Sky will be released on May 19th, priced at $17.99 USD and is already available for pre-order.
00:18:58
Speaker
It's not too bad. It's not too bad at all. No. Now it is like, I get it. It's a picture book for kids. I think i is what the product is. So if you want to get your kids in Final Fantasy so that when they grow up, they can get into Final Fantasy 14. Get them while they're young.
00:19:18
Speaker
And oh while they're young, ah also back to Stardew Valley real quick. A Stardew Valley player has done nothing but sleep for three weeks straight to reach year 1000. And it nearly broke their switch.
00:19:31
Speaker
How? ah So they kept their game on nonstop. They set up a rubber band and like one of those like automatic button pushers to push the button to make sure you like you progress the day and like prevent aggression of screens.
00:19:46
Speaker
And they kind of set that up. According to the guy, the the Joy-Con that was hit the most by that is basically dead. The Switch crashed nine times during all of that as well.
00:20:02
Speaker
And yeah, it nearly fried the Switch for doing that. I don't... I'm kind of impressed. But also... so
00:20:15
Speaker
what What happens in the year 1000? Nothing, apparently. It's the same as same as everything else. just Life goes... We're all immortal.
00:20:26
Speaker
Yeah, apparently. ah ah We're all immortal. Give that person a medal because that's impressive. A new line of Mario themed toys called My Mario has been revealed. a new app called the My Mario app. Mario blocks that are also Amiibo. Fisher Price toys, baby clothes, a baby book.
00:20:50
Speaker
ah And they're all Mario themed. That's cute. It's very cute. So now you can get your kids into Mario as well with them playing with Mario and Luigi and Peach and making the Fisher-Price toys kiss when they smashed them together. Yeah, you gotta make them kiss. Now you guys can have your Mario and Bowser Yowie fanfics come to life from the kids, you sickos. Ha ha Ha
00:21:21
Speaker
uh valve's handheld gaming pc is out of stock due to ram shortages uh the steam deck uh current ah now i grant i don't know if it's still out of stock but it was out of stock because of ram shortages um so if you can't get a hold of a steam deck that's why i have tried the steam deck uh a couple times playing stardew valley on it i don't like it I don't like the feeling of it. I don't like like the heaviness. It's really bulky. Compared to a Switch as well, where the Switch lightweight and whatnot. because like
00:21:53
Speaker
Now granted, the Steam Deck, they they advertise as like, yeah, it's just a portable PC. It can run anything. Well, not anything. There's certain games that Switch is over there. But like the games that I want to do I would much rather do on the computer at home.
00:22:10
Speaker
Yeah. No, I'm very much the same way. A Steam Deck to me is kind of like when it came, I feel like the Steam Deck has definitely like lost its stride from when it came out originally.
00:22:22
Speaker
Isn't it still like $300 to $400? Yeah, like they haven't even like adjust the price for it either. So just saying. It's not worth it. Just saying. Get a Switch. In Rainbow Switch, Rainbow Switch, in Rainbow Six Siege news, as part of its Year 11 roadmap, which is crazy that the game is going on for 11 years, ah Rainbow Six Siege is getting a Metal Gear Solid themed update.
00:22:49
Speaker
The upcoming Season 1 Operation Silent Hunt will add Solid Snake to the multiplayer shooter as a permanent operator, and voice actor David Hayter is reprising his role for the occasion.
00:23:02
Speaker
In Resident Evil Requiem news, a pull-up bar bundle sold out in Japan in less than five hours. The terrifying Nightmare Set bundle, it was priced at ah roughly 19,800 yen or 128 US dollars, included a PS5 or Nintendo Switch 2 version of a RE Requiem, and an at-home pull-up bar that comes with an original box that was themed after Resident Evil Requiem, And it was limited to 50 sets.
00:23:34
Speaker
That's why it sold out so quick. Kind of want one. I don't have a PS5 and I'm not getting a Nintendo Switch 2, but like i'll pull a pull up bar.
00:23:44
Speaker
That's kind of cool. ah It's kind of cool. It's what definitely one of the weirder ah bundles that I've seen for a video game. Yeah, because you usually don't see exercise and gaming combined unless it's a Nintendo trying to make people fit through the Wii or the Switch. Yeah, because you got Ring on the Switch and there's so many like exercise games on the Wii.
00:24:12
Speaker
Now, my thought, if it'd be kind of neat for the Switch 2 where um you could put the pull-up bar into play, where if you're, like, maybe you maybe have a silly little, like, minigame where you just pull yourself up and do, like, sets, and it just, like, gives you extra things in the game or something.
00:24:34
Speaker
I don't know about, I don't know if people would do that, honestly, because, again, that's only 50 people in the world could do that. Listen, so we can all share. It's fine. just so Just put it in one of those like one of those like planet fitness gyms. i like Go there. just ah out like You're working out like a man. Come on. Let me look at the line to see if I can play Resident Evil Requiem while I work out today. Oh, that's a three-hour line. I've only got 30 minutes, man. ah Ark Raiders, the Shrouded update released adding hurricanes into the game.
00:25:11
Speaker
Stop Killing Games, that initiative that took off because of pirate software, speaking against them and whatnot. They're launching NGOs in the European Union and the US. Now, an NGO is a non-governmental organization.
00:25:25
Speaker
um It's basically another step for them to basically try to keep the the big video game... ah developers, publishers in checks so that way they'd stop killing their games like they did with Ubisoft did with The Crew or PlaySony did with ah not Marathon um ah Concord Jesus in Chaos Incarnate news League of Legends might be adding public voice chat
00:25:58
Speaker
This is suggested by files found on the public build environment, the PBE, by at skin spotlights on X. The files in question include reports for voice comms abuse, as well as entries for a comms panel that include voice options for part of your team.
00:26:16
Speaker
If this is real and they're doing this, that game is going to become unplayable because of the amount of slurs you're going hear.
00:26:26
Speaker
I don't know. I feel like it's going to compete with all like the Call of Duty lobbies where everyone's just trying to do each other's moms. what League of Legends is 20 times worse. oof Don't play League of Legends, guys. Get out of there. i'll play legal yes Guys, stop playing League of Legends. Play Final Fantasy 14. I know that League of Legends is a multi-million dollar eSport and if you are a great player, you could win some serious cash, but don't play it It's not healthy.
00:26:52
Speaker
Get some help. Five new baby mobs have been revealed for Minecraft, including the Panda, Sniflet, Strider, Zoglin, and Hoglin. Okay, look at Q. These wrap up the brand new baby forms in the recent Minecraft update as well.
00:27:09
Speaker
Rockstar launched an official mod shop for Grand Theft Auto Online about a month ago. ah In doing so, though, Take-Two has now begun forcing GTA V multiplayer platform Alt-V to multiplayer to shut down which it will be doing this summer so because they're like hey let's make official mods and shit and give people an actual platform for that the unofficial ones have to get cease and desisted oh yeah our IP actually adventure studio anchor points declared it's parting ways with net ease and going independent which is another studio that net he's net ease has now lost
00:27:52
Speaker
Hideki Sato, the father of the Sega Dreamcast, Saturn, Genesis, and the former Sega president, has died at age 77. Wow. Young. The Wolverine game now has a release date of September 15th this year. ah And now we go into Twitch news.

Platform Changes and Issues

00:28:11
Speaker
Twitch has done a bunch of stuff.
00:28:14
Speaker
ah First, showing multi-stream chat is no longer an offense. However, you still need to moderate it so that chat doesn't break TOS.
00:28:25
Speaker
Because obviously if chat breaks TOS, you're still going to get banned. ah New types of bans now, however. ah There's now two types of bans. Instead of just having the one ban for everything where you just get permabanned and you can't do shit on the site.
00:28:40
Speaker
They've now divided it into streaming bans and chatting. Sorry, streaming suspensions and chatting suspensions. Streaming suspensions means you cannot stream, but you can still go into other people's chats and stuff and on the platform.
00:28:54
Speaker
And chatting suspensions means you can't chat in other people's streams, but you can still stream on the platform. Now, obviously, for higher severity violations, Twitch confirmed it will be applying both of those simultaneously. The more serious breaches will continue to result in indefinite suspensions, removing all access to the platform.
00:29:14
Speaker
They've now just streamlined it a lot better. um From what I've gathered from the things, obviously the big thing, ah not requiring, ah sorry, not being restricted or like hit with with something bad. If you multi-stream and show the multi-stream chat is a big win. Because granted, a lot of people have been doing it already and it took Gigguk getting banned by this that Twitch said, okay, let's, let's fix this.
00:29:43
Speaker
ah So that's a good thing. ah Now we go into Discord news because they have delayed their age verification system after parting ways with the third party vendor Persona. Not the video game.
00:29:57
Speaker
It's like a third party like ID scanning. Like, it's not a good, it's not a great site because that they're the reason like a lot of people's ah information was leaked like years ago when Discord got hacked because of Persona, not because of Discord.
00:30:15
Speaker
So Discord parted ways with them. Now, remember, the reason that Discord is even doing this age verification thing is because of world governments, not because they want to.
00:30:25
Speaker
They have to just comply with this because, you know, parents can't parent, so they go complain to the government to parent for them. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. So, the age verification system has now been delayed to the second half of 2026.
00:30:42
Speaker
90% of the people on the platform will be unaffected. ah You now have the option to add other verification options other than the face scanning or ID scanning.
00:30:53
Speaker
ah For example, credit card verification. you can just do that. If you are hit with this, you can refuse it. You will only lose access to age-restricted content on Discord.
00:31:07
Speaker
They now also said that if you do the face scan, it's going to be through your phone, it'll be local, and then it's just kept on your device. That is it. If you do the ID one, ah it's like the second it ends, they delete it, and it's gone from their system entirely.
00:31:27
Speaker
ah Whether or not they are still tracking your... ah And then the reason only 90% of people are... ah Only 10% of people are being affected is because... of discord is looking at like accounts it's like oh do you have a credit card registered with like discord nitro they look at they're looking at like it's things that like do not go into your private messages but it's like your activity on the platform and it's like from that they can determine like adult patterns or like kid patterns and
00:32:00
Speaker
From the sound of it and whatnot. Now, whether they're tracking our our data is up for you to decide because let's be real, everything tracks your data and you're lying to yourself if you think anything is private anymore.
00:32:12
Speaker
ah But ah this is a good step. They just need to follow up their words with the appropriate actions. And I think that Discord will have been in the clear, in my opinion.
00:32:25
Speaker
What are your thoughts on this whole Discord situation, Garrett? Truth be told, I don't see a lot of like kids being on Discord. mean, I think the big reason for that to not get kids on Discord. I don't create a lot of adult-oriented Discords. Who would have thought? Yeah. I mean, this is something we'll end up talking about later. It's one of those that...
00:32:50
Speaker
regardless of what you do, kids are always going to find a way to get into adult spaces. Like if you go on any like adult website and it's like, are you 18 and older? Of course you're going to click yes. Like, are you nuts? Yeah. No, I'm going to click no. And then it's like, oh, baby, get out of here. Like, I can't wait for Pornhub to require face verification. Oh God, please. No. I just want to go visit the ASMRs. We want to know what you look like when you come to the site.
00:33:21
Speaker
But like, even with that, you could just you could just go to YouTube and look up whatever you want. they they' It's not restricted over there. Like, there's nothing stopping kids from getting into adult things.
00:33:35
Speaker
So putting up those roadblocks, sure. There's nothing stopping a kid going into the YouTube search bar and typing boobies. Yeah, you do that on a calculator, people go... oh I think i I feel like, sure, age restriction thing, this is good-ish. But at the same time, people have already found the loophole for this. You can just bring up any picture of like any person out there and be like, this is my face. And I will scan it and be like, good job. And let you in. Just because the UK and Australian governments require this shit now and the u EU and US are...
00:34:20
Speaker
gonna be doing this soon you still got a parent folks you still gotta you like just because like all this age restriction stuff is happening you still gotta to be a parent and look at what they're doing because they're gonna bypass this shit yeah like my 12 year old smart as hell like he's teaching me about pokemon stuff with a new generation in sword and shield and i'm like uh-huh uh-huh i have no idea what you're talking about But he's finding a way to write ah to hack into my mom's ah Roku account and watch stuff he's not supposed to. Like... ah
00:34:56
Speaker
There we go, folks. yeah so So go petition your governments and tell them that the age verification thing ain't going to work. yeah it will It'll log all go away, honestly.
00:35:08
Speaker
like but Because let's be real. At the end of the day, it's gonna be pointless because they're just going to be...
00:35:15
Speaker
we' We've trained them to be iPad kids, and if there's one thing iPad kids know, it's how to use an iPad. Yeah, iPad kids, telephone kids. like Kids are smart. yeah you can be on them They are smarter than we take them for.
00:35:31
Speaker
We're getting older. we're We're not getting smarter. They are. I will say, if you are going get like your kid a ah Discord account, don't do it. Wait until they're like 16, 17, 18 when you can give them a computer.
00:35:49
Speaker
and then actually sit down with like the iPad, the phone, the computer and be like, hey, we're going to do internet safety. you know that's That's the biggest thing.
00:35:59
Speaker
I didn't get my first cell phone until i was 16. I didn't get my first cell phone until I was in high school. And there was a track phone and I had minutes on it. I had an HTC One. You run out. This is emergency only. Yeah, same. That was mine as well for calls. i had ah They gave me unlimited text, but was limited on calls.
00:36:20
Speaker
um um I had an HTC One. And I'm going to tell you, that phone was built like a brick. I dropped that so many times. Not a single dent.
00:36:31
Speaker
That's impressive. Yeah. Thing was built like a brick with storage of a fucking... not It wasn't good. It was like no storage on it at all. Back to the news. Blizzard Entertainment is working on a spinoff for Overwatch for mobile devices called Overwatch Rush, a top-down 5v5 hero shooter.
00:36:54
Speaker
ah King of Meat, a game developed by Glowmade and published by Amazon, will be shutting down in April and all players who purchased the game will receive refunds. Bungie has announced that anybody found a cheating in Marathon will be permanently banned forever.
00:37:10
Speaker
No second chances. So don't cheat. They're sick of it. Come on, guys. fan gamer Fan Gamer released brand new merchandise for Tunic.
00:37:22
Speaker
ah You can now get yourself a set of Tunic playing cards, which is really cute. The devs behind GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, and TimeSplitters, Steve Ellis and David Doak, have worked on a brand new video game. It's demo, currently a part of NextFest, and it's not an action FPS.
00:37:42
Speaker
It's a roguelike Scrabble game called Beyond Words. I want to say i think I saw that. I played this demo, actually. It's kind of addicting.
00:37:53
Speaker
Not gonna lie. I maybe wishlisted it after I played it. It's like yeah it seems it's it's pretty fun. Warner Brothers Games have said that they'll be returning to some of their biggest franchises 2027 and 2028.
00:38:10
Speaker
ah In more Overwatch news, a bug in Overwatch crashed the entire game for using text chat. Specifically, if you spammed multiple less than signs, it would crash the game for everybody in the match.
00:38:29
Speaker
Overwatch had to disable chat functionality for the entire game to fix it, which is now fixed. And people said it was the most peaceful time in Overwatch. You know, that that's kind of funny because if you're like trash in that game and you just want it to be over, you just do that. I can't win, no one wins.
00:38:48
Speaker
and the process, in ah in the time between ah Season 9 and Season 10 of the podcast, Overwatch 2 is now just Overwatch again. They changed the name back to just Overwatch and they dropped the two.
00:39:02
Speaker
ah What about Overwatch 1? You can't play that anymore. they They just ah they they removed it from all stores. it's it's also They also killed the servers. It's just unplayable.
00:39:17
Speaker
Oh, well. Yeah. ah New York State Attorney General Letitia James announced on and Blue Sky that the state of New York is opening a lawsuit against Valve for violating the state's gambling laws through its games.
00:39:32
Speaker
In the brief post, James says Valve has made billions of dollars by letting children and adults illegally gamble for the chance to win valuable virtual prizes. These features are addictive and harmful. Primarily, ah this is primarily in accordance to the Team Fortress 2 loot boxes and the gun skins in Counter-Strike.
00:39:56
Speaker
Ah, that makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. ah Lastly, in regular gaming news, kurt Kristen Bell was cast as Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
00:40:08
Speaker
The movie that's coming up. So we now have an Amy Rose voice. ah Now the question is, will Metal Sonic get a voice as well? And who will it be? I've seen the first one and I've seen the third I've seen two or three.
00:40:30
Speaker
I was disappointed in what they did with ah with Shadow, though. What they did on Keanu Reeves? mean? Well, no, Keanu Reeves is fine. Listen, don't don't harp on Keanu Reeves. Keanu Reeves is great. But like.
00:40:42
Speaker
I don't know. i I feel like. I feel like they could have made like.
00:40:51
Speaker
they They could have done something a little bit different with Shadow, where it's like, oh, I'm broody because my best friend got shot and died and now I'm just yeah mad at everybody. well Well, yeah, they they do that, though.
00:41:05
Speaker
And they just have the the other Jim Carrey manipulate him a bit more. you yeah The grandpa Jim Carrey with the yeah now Jim Carrey. It's like, let's go. like I love that they did that, where it's like both Robotniks are played by Jim Carrey. It was great. I loved that. Oh, the dancing scene.
00:41:25

00:43:02
Speaker
don't understand. Yeah, that it's just here you never know what they'll do, but they they do it. ah And now before we get to more stuff, we have a special report on High Guard from our boy, Sir Wiggles the Great.
00:43:19
Speaker
Does High Guard deserve the

High Guard Game Review

00:43:21
Speaker
hate? I'm SirWigglesTheGreat, coming to you with my review of the recently released PvP Hero Shooter. To establish what kind of game High Guard is, you can get it right from the Steam Store page.
00:43:33
Speaker
High Guard is a PvP raid shooter where players will ride, fight, and raid as Wardens, arcane gunslingers set to fight for control of a mythical continent.
00:43:44
Speaker
The game features three game modes. Raid Rush, which is a 5v5 short-formed mode, of attack and defense, where teams switch between attacking a base and defending a base until a winner is determined.
00:43:58
Speaker
5v5 Raid, which is a base attack defense mode where teams fight on a large map Teams need to fight for a shield breaker. This will spawn at various parts of the map, and the team that can bring it and set it up at the opposing team's base will be able to attack said base.
00:44:15
Speaker
And ranked 3v3, which features a more tactical gameplay, but has the same setup as 5v5 raid. Every game mode, players choose their warden, each with unique abilities to give their team an added edge.
00:44:30
Speaker
Now on to my take of the game. I've only been able to play two of the game modes as ranked is locked until you win 10 games in the other modes. This brings me to my first point of criticism.
00:44:41
Speaker
Why are we locking ranked play? I would be more understanding if it was a play 5 games so people can learn the game before jumping into competitive play. but ranked modes have a ranking system to sort out scale-based play, so locking it seems unnecessary.
00:44:57
Speaker
The game modes are also quite long, so trying to win games takes a fair amount of time, especially for those who play more casually. That being said, my overall experience of the game was good.
00:45:08
Speaker
I found that wardens were well-balanced, I had no issues with any of the maps, the resource collection for the store buys didn't really add any hindrance to game flow, The gunplay was adequate and felt similar to other games I have played.
00:45:22
Speaker
The mount system was fun and engaging, though I felt at times it was a little unwieldy. Now that could be more of a skill issue as the fact I'm a new player rather than a critique of the game. I found that the art style of High Guard to be more simple, which is fine for a game like this.
00:45:37
Speaker
My expectations were not wowed by the design, but it never took me out of the game. My critiques of the game has to start with the defense of bases, specifically reinforcing base walls.
00:45:50
Speaker
I think it's a good idea that needs some adjusting. As it stands right now, it seems to have such little effect that players avoid it altogether. Making it more effective will make it a more viable mechanic, or it should just be removed outright.
00:46:04
Speaker
The 3v3 format is an odd choice for me. Now I haven't played this format as it is ranked play only right now, but I have watched several matches through other streamers and content creators. I'm not fully opposed to the idea, but I do feel the game does fit a more 5v5 format and developers should lean more into that structure.
00:46:25
Speaker
The world building for the game does seem to be lacking or not presented effectively. There does not seem to be any reason for why things are why they are or what is going on in the world that has been built for us.
00:46:39
Speaker
The party system needs to be cleaned up a bit. and Basically, if the play button gets bugged, which happened a couple times with my party, you have to reform the whole party. There was no leadership transfer option. You also cannot spectate party members games if you're just joining them while they're in match.
00:46:57
Speaker
This is a great feature that most games should have. My biggest concern for the game that I have held since before release was I didn't think that there was much of a market for a new hero shooter.
00:47:08
Speaker
And based on current player counts, I still think I was right on that mark. That being said, after reading several articles, reviews, and watching commentary on the game, I fundamentally believe that 1. People did not give the game enough of a chance.
00:47:25
Speaker
Several reviewers were focused on irrelevant aspects of a hero shooter. Like, I don't care about water effects when I walk through a puddle. This isn't Red Dead Redemption where I'm exploring an open world environment.
00:47:38
Speaker
This is a fast-paced competitive shooter, and if you're looking at a puddle, you're doing something wrong. I have seen more than one reviewer look at this. And two, I genuinely think that a lot of people wanted this game to fail.
00:47:51
Speaker
The negativity surrounding the game was very much unwarranted, with a lot of opinions running without truly testing the game. My last criticism goes to the marketing of the game.
00:48:02
Speaker
wildlight really failed in showcasing their game to the world the biggest example of this was the terrible trailer released at the game awards it's hard to get excited about a game if you only vaguely and sparsely present it to your audience just to comment on the layoffs wildlight did in response to highguard's performance i think they did the right move for the business It really sucks that developers had to lose their jobs, but this may give Wildlight a chance to refocus efforts without having to close the studio.
00:48:34
Speaker
Ultimately, High Guard is free-to-play game that provides a fun team-based hero shooter experience that friends can enjoy together. So my TLDR is this game is an 8 out of 10, and i will certainly keep playing it, and I hope you give it a try as well.
00:48:51
Speaker
Thanks for listening to my review of High Guard. I'm SirWigglesTheGreat, signing off.
00:48:57

In Digimon TCG, the Digimon Generation Booster releases March twenty seven And in tabletop news, Legends of Adventurous have a brand new Kickstarter for a D&D 5e book collection called Neon Odyssey.
00:50:10
Speaker

00:50:23
Speaker
a classic 5th edition. So ah everything just gets like an space opera reskin. Uh, so really cool. If you want go check that out, you can check out the Kickstarter that they have, for all of that.
00:50:35
Speaker
Uh, any final thoughts on any other stories there, carrots? Um, I'm quite interested in that 80 space opera thing. I, I've only ever did in fifth edition once and it was not a good experience, but like I mostly do three Oh and three five anyways, but a space opera.
00:50:56
Speaker
I might have back in into fifth edition figure that all out. I just know that when this comes out, we're going to see a lot probably a lot of ah funny TikToks from them about this.
00:51:08
Speaker
Chuckles the Clown. Chuckles the Clown, why are you doing it a space opera? Expert clown joke here. With that, it's now time to dive into everything that's coming out in within the next two weeks.
00:51:22
Speaker

Upcoming Game Releases

00:53:45
Speaker
Those are all your releases. Some of the major ones going over, obviously, WoW, Midnight, The second expansion in like this big set of three expansions that they've been that they teased ah years ago.
00:54:02
Speaker
that's That's coming out. I still don't like WoW. I still don't like Blizzard, by the way, folks. Hot take. I still don't like Blizzard. I haven't touched WoW since I was a freshman in high school. And the only reason why I played it is because the guy that I liked played it And he taught me nothing.
00:54:24
Speaker
Wow. I'm like, this was a waste of $20. hate this game. Scott Pilgrim e EX. I'm excited for that. I'm but just a big Scott Pilgrim fan. I still need to play the original Scott Pilgrim game.
00:54:36
Speaker
And then I need to play this as well. Side-scroller beat-em-ups. They're very fun. Marathon, the big new shooter from Bungie, extraction shooter from Bungie.
00:54:46
Speaker
That finally releases. ah If you played it over the weekend, the Stress Test Beta. Or the stress test weekend, I guess. ah Hope it was good.
00:54:57
Speaker
Hope you enjoyed it. I'm hearing decent things coming out about it, but I'll wait for official releases. I'm not gonna play it because I'm not a big ah extraction shooter fan. I think the genre is very a And I think that developers are going too hard on this category too fast.
00:55:17
Speaker
And it's going to be the new Battle Royale. And I don't like it. Pocopia, that's the one. I've already pre-ordered Pocopia to play that. I'm excited to see what that brings for a Pokemon perspective.
00:55:32
Speaker
Slate Asmire 2, I know a lot of people are excited for that, and now with it going into early access, they're going to spend their year playing that and nothing else. Mm-hmm. Horror-wise, Fail Frame 2, I know that the that's set to be decent.
00:55:50
Speaker
I wonder how that's going to play on the Switch, though. I mean, it's it's just a regular controller. Yeah.
00:56:01
Speaker
I'm sure that they probably have some like gyroscopic controls if you play it handheld mode, but they're probably toggleable. think so toggleable i was I was terrible at the middle Yeah. and then so degree And then Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection, the third ah rpg turn but turn-based RPG Monster Hunter game spinoff where basically you get to tame monsters and it's like Pokemon but Monster Hunter. Mm-hmm.
00:56:37
Speaker
uh and those are the games it is a decent week a decent week back for uh games uh once we get further into march and april we'll see a lot more releases as we usually do ah so look forward to all of that with that it's now time for us to dive into our main focus that we're talking about this week uh here's what we're talking about this week in the game lounge Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers, and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge.
00:57:14
Speaker
And our first topic of the day. It is, we're talking about video games that are primarily marketed towards adults, but they got all this merchandise that targets the kiddos.
00:57:27
Speaker
Yep. So... Karis, I'll just start with the first question for you here. Should games that are targeted to older audiences have merchandise that kids can have? That's such a hard question because depending on the merchandise, I'm going to say No.
00:57:52
Speaker
Because as an example, you have Poppy Playtime, Bendy and the Ink Machine that has made plushies. What adult is going to want a plushie? Let's be honest. I mean, okay.
00:58:03
Speaker
Here's what I'll say about that. Plushies for adults have... they've I've kind of seen like this resurgence in that. Yeah. like like It's more common now for like when they do games are doing this merch like that with plushies.
00:58:17
Speaker
It's very much like... like cause I'm looking at my shelf. I have three plushies. I have an Umbreon, I have an Espeon, and I have Mono-fucking-Kuma. Yeah.
00:58:31
Speaker
It's... Because... Plushies... For adults, yeah, we we are going to want them. I got a bunch here, too. I mean, my kid plays with them. It's not the the world. But I feel like if you're going to make plushies based on horror games, I don't think you should take that route.
00:58:49
Speaker
Because if a kid goes and picks up like Huggy Wuggy from the store, and a parent's like, oh, she's got long arms, blah, blah, blah, and not look into what the game actually is, like...
00:59:03
Speaker
I feel like if you are going to get something for your child, like, look at where it's coming from. it' It's more of, hey, parents, do your job. Yeah. Like, you don't need to sit there and helicopter your kids. I don't. My 12-year-old thinks he's 20 at this point.
00:59:20
Speaker
But if you are going to get them something... Look where it's coming from first. I'm not going to openly go out and buy all the Five Nights at Freddy's books for my little one. Because I've seen the Five Nights at Freddy's games. Granted, it's spooky jump scare stuff.
00:59:36
Speaker
But there's all the lore behind it of kids going into animatronics and murders and stuff like that. And it's like, i he might be ready. You know, he might not.
00:59:47
Speaker
i mean, here's what I'll say about the Five Nights at Freddy's books. are I would definitely say teen horror. Yeah, they're more teen horror. It's definitely very teen horror.
00:59:58
Speaker
um Like, I would never trust a kid with Eddie. Like, also, the Five Nights of Freddy's books are like actual novels. Like, don't think... Unless...
01:00:09
Speaker
are you okay Unless the kid is like extremely advanced in their reading comprehension. Yeah, I wouldn't I wouldn't like openly go, hey, kiddo, read this book about this. ah This girl who had her parents horribly murdered by animatronic bear.
01:00:30
Speaker
ah And she had to bury herself alive in a park and she loses an arm. And we're to go into graphic details about how much gallons of blood she loses. um Actually, they made a graphic novel of the book. So they did. It's crazy.
01:00:50
Speaker
They did? That's crazy. Yeah, they they did a graphic novel of the the Silver Eyes. Because I had the books. I got rid of them. Yeah, same. I i did too. I wasn't even into... I don't even know why I got the books.
01:01:06
Speaker
like like Thinking back on it, of like why the fuck did I even get the books? i Yeah, because it looked cool. Granted, I spent $50 buying so many five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Keychains.
01:01:21
Speaker
And when I got them, I had ah hung them on my wall. Well, when my son was around five or six, he kept taking them off and playing with them because they they look like, you know, little animals, little weird looking foxes and bunnies and stuff like that. And then when you sit there and you're thinking like, oh, that's really cute. But then you're like, don't think a six year old is ready to this.
01:01:49
Speaker
like that

Parental Guidance in Gaming

01:01:50
Speaker
actual game we're not going to show him yeah it becomes the conversation of well do i tell my kid about this or do i let them just play with this it's like because if you let them play with it like ignorant and like be like ignorance is bliss they don't have to know they'll eventually be like what's this from or they'll probably look it up of like fox keychain eye patch hook and find it on their own and be scarred for life Yeah, it's one of those...
01:02:21
Speaker
when they're When they're going to sit there and ask you these questions of like, well, what does this mean? you You got to honestly, aunt you got to answer them truthfully. You to answer them truthfully unless they ask you where babies come from. In which case, until they're actually older enough. You got to get to the birds and the bees talk. It's going to reach there. Because I play reverse 1999 in front of my kiddo all the time. doesn't understand what's going on. It's just big numbers go bird. Cards go whoosh. His favorite character is Bunny Bunny.
01:02:50
Speaker
Obvious reasons. She's got food, alcohol, and big hungers. Okay.
01:02:58
Speaker
but She's in bunny suit. I'm like, of course. Of course that one, kiddo.
01:03:04
Speaker
But yeah, I feel like if... ah Look at Amiibos. Like, Amiibos seem more of a kid-related thing, but more adults are buying them.
01:03:15
Speaker
Yeah, but that's all... Yeah, I think you can say with a lot of collectibles, though. Like, a lot of the time, like, there's i feel like there's now become, like, a very distinct difference between what classifies as a toy and what classifies as a collectible toy. Yeah. Yeah.
01:03:35
Speaker
Like action figures back in the day, it didn't matter what they were. They were all just toys. Nowadays, if you see people like action figures barely come out of their boxes now. Yeah. I still have Barbies in their boxes that I kept for long enough times. To me, they're collectibles. To a child, it's a toy. I want to take it out.
01:03:55
Speaker
Yeah. I will say like with older stuff, though, like Barbie, like ah like I would say, yeah, those older Barbies. And again, I get it. It's also because we get older. It's like we learn financial fiscal ability. We learn the actual value of things.
01:04:09
Speaker
An old boxed Barbie is at the, for the right person. I could get that. That's ah a house. Not really. Not really. i have an entire tote. I've looked through the prices. Not at most. I could get like $50 for one of them. And I'm like, Ooh, yeah.
01:04:29
Speaker
Damn. Still, though, that's 50 bucks. 50 bucks. Yeah, that is true.
01:04:36
Speaker
What franchise do you think started all of this like debate? o Oh, gosh, i I feel like it all started with the Pokemon series.
01:04:52
Speaker
Because if you have Pokemon that came out for the Game Boy Then after a while, they had the card game. After a while, they had the anime.
01:05:04
Speaker
After a while, they branched off to even more games, even bigger card games. And then Digimon hopped on board on that. So they got card games and then they got games and then they got all their merchandise. You got Yu-Gi-Oh that hopped on the card game train. Like, I feel like once you get into cards...
01:05:24
Speaker
you're going to end up expanding into plushies and clothes and stickers and all this other stuff. So where's the Barbie card game? I don't know. I hope they have one. And there's the problem, folks. I bring it and Karen says, oh, I hope there's one. Ghosts don't play card games. we play dollhouse, okay?
01:05:49
Speaker
So you're saying that only... Don't the card games. So you're saying only boy or... Like, things that are more, like, targeted towards boys and men yeah are what get the card games.
01:06:01
Speaker
Yeah. Well, guys, so is that why My Little Pony hasn't gotten one yet? It's because the creators are refusing to realize that the Bronies exist. My Little Pony has a card game. It does. We're just waiting for Bronies. The reason why is because of the Bronies. Yeah, the Bronies. If they never existed, My Little Pony would not have gotten that card game. Uh-huh.
01:06:31
Speaker
Hold on, I gotta look up to see if there's an actual... Oh my gosh. Well, the only Barbie card game is Barbie Uno. So there's something doesn't count. Barbie Uno doesn't count. That's like that's like saying like Mario Monopoly counts as like something different. It's it's just it's a themed Monopoly. It's a themed Uno. It's board games trying to suck. It's Mattel and Hasbro trying to suck your money for their... Barbie can only have Uno.
01:07:02
Speaker
Yeah. Aw, Barbie. There is Uno and Monopoly for everything now. Yes, it's wild. Like, that's... Like, I'm not saying it's a bad... i mean, it's not like a bad thing. It's a bad thing. There's some bad ones out there. It's a pointless thing.
01:07:21
Speaker
Because they... It's like... It doesn't change. Like, here's the thing. Unless it like changes rules and it's like a whole different version, then sure. But actually there is, and it's really funny.
01:07:37
Speaker
I'm not going to say it because it docks where I'm originally from, but there's a monopoly based around my hometown. Oh, yeah. No, trust oh trust me. there are i Believe it or not, I have seen monopolies. There's a monopoly for my town, believe it or not. There are multiple monopolies that are based on cities. they don't They're not as common anymore. I haven't yeah seen ah one in a while, but if I'm correct, I'm Googling...
01:08:05
Speaker
um Where do I live? Monopoly. isn't it here Yeah, here it is. There it is. Am I right? Am I right? Hold on. Hold on. Yeah. Oh, my God. It is still real. Oh, my God. Yeah. Like, like basically, you put the city name. Like, just I'm just there's like, I'm pretty sure.
01:08:22
Speaker
Hold on. Let me look up. Because there's got to be like... There's a Texasopoly. Shut up. There's a Sweetwateropoly. Dallasopoly.
01:08:36
Speaker
Aggieopoly. hate it. I hate it. Stop monopoly. Murphyopoly. Like they these these these are... There's one for like almost... Like if you have a major city, there's most likely you have a monopoly.
01:08:52
Speaker
board game yeah you yeah like there's a board game another monopoly like there's a board game of monopoly based on your city I don't know how they can I should look into this I'm like how they came into production because this that would be a whole a fun topic to really dive into a like how the fuck did these get into existence like you're there in a boardroom meeting and everyone's like oh we got to come up with a new monopoly and you're like Texas and everyone's like oh genius He's a genius, but we can only sell it in Texas. Get damn man a raise and get him out of my fucking office. Yeah. I can't wait to play Utahopoly where there's a special space on the board ah for marrying your third wife.
01:09:39
Speaker
That'd be great, actually.
01:09:42
Speaker
There's got to be... plug plumbing um What is it? plum me ah How do you... What is that? It's not polyamory. It's polygamy. Oh, paul yeah. Polygamy. Thank you. I got to make a monopoly for that.
01:09:56
Speaker
many wives can you get by the end of the game? More monopoly! No! Uh-uh.
01:10:04
Speaker
It works so well. It rolls off the top. Hold on. i got I'm Googling this because I have a feeling... I have a feeling. Mormon Monopoly.
01:10:16
Speaker
ah
01:10:20
Speaker
That's okay. Although there is a and Monopoly Utah. ah There is no Mormonopoly. Oh, thank God. No one takes that idea. That's Tony. it tony's ever in However, on Etsy, there is a book of Mormonopoly.
01:10:36
Speaker
fan for A fan board game. Etsy has like everything. There is that, but there is no official Mormon Monopoly game. would be funny Thank God.
01:10:49
Speaker
I guess it just has to play Utah Monopoly. Same thing. same close It's close enough. You get what you can get. ok laz ah Before I get canceled by all the Mormons. What?
01:11:03
Speaker
What? what franchises shouldn't be making merch in the first place? Like, are there franchises that you feel like shouldn't be making merch? Uh, and like these plushies or stuff like that, that like, and I'm not talking like the big ones, like obviously the big ones have already done it. They're going to continue doing it because they found profit in that. I'm talking more of like the should five nights at phrase even have released merchandise.
01:11:29
Speaker
In my opinion, no. like looking at like like a lot of indie games like i get it people want to support them in other ways and shapes and forms but i feel like sometimes there's a bit too much and like as cool as some of this stuff is i feel like it just for the sake of like how they do it it's just too much sometimes i I was in a scenario where I went to a anime convention and I was dressed up as a humanized version of Foxy from Five Nights at Freddy's and I was carrying around a little plushy and stuff and I saw this other girl that was also dressed up in as Chica. Granted it was a bikini but she was painted all over. That poor girl was cold.
01:12:14
Speaker
Um, but I saw a probably three year old dressed up as Mangold. And I just like stood there like the whole like record scratch in your brain. And you're like, oh, this needs to stop. that Yeah, that's a bit too far. Like,
01:12:34
Speaker
that that that's that's far like for mangle like if i was to see a kid in a five nights at freddy's costume per se yeah i would expect to see freddy bonnie chica foxy maybe like one of the other newer ones but like i'm thinking like you know those little like oh god Like those little like fluffy out like they're almost like a like a onesie almost for like kids like the kicker whos or something. Yeah, yeah they have and they have like the hood and like it has like their eyes and like a little top hat. If it's like Freddy, I would expect to see like a kid wearing that. And I'm like, OK, you know what?
01:13:12
Speaker
Yeah, that's that's that's fine. Like it's no harm. It's still cute. It's like, yeah, you're going have to explain it to him when he's much older and not show him that stuff. Because I feel like if you're showing three-year-old that, that you're scarring him for life. But like, that's okay with me, I guess, than fucking Mangle, of all things. Yeah, and I've seen a lot of people, especially, know it's not video game related, but you have young kids dressing up as characters from Hasbun Hotel. And it's like... If I'm walking around as Angel Bus or Foxy or even Huggy Wuggy, I do not want any child around my son's age to come near me.
01:14:02
Speaker
Like I'm looking at their direction. Yeah. No has been a hotel. That is definitely like where like, okay. Five nights at Freddy's and poppy playtime. They're rated T for team. I know that finance of phrases. There are T rated game.
01:14:16
Speaker
It's like, okay. Poppy was a little, i thought poppy. don't sure rating. Let me double check on the poppy playtime, but five nights at Freddy's, the franchise is rated T. Yeah. ah Poppy Playtime ESRB It's the T for Teen as well I'm surprised as It carries a 13 plus age rating I'm surprised Because When you The first chapter The first chapter um the first chapter yeah makes sense because all you're doing is running away From a thing
01:14:55
Speaker
Yeah, there's so there's a little bit of like blood, little violence, you know, huggy-wuggy falls on the head. Nothing crazy. Everything past I feel... It bit more and more. Yeah.
01:15:07
Speaker
I feel like it's one of those... as a parent, you really you really have to pick and choose your battles with your kids. If they see a little huggy-wuggy thing and you're like...
01:15:20
Speaker
listen, I don't care, just we'll buy it if you're stopped screaming. But on the other end, it's like, if your gut feeling is telling you something's not right, like, look up what it is before you get it to them.
01:15:37
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, no, absolutely. It's what it's at the end. The big thing at the of the day is like, it comes down to the parents needing to parent. Cause I'm not going to sit there and have my kid watch me play Danganronpa. Oh, hell no. No, I'll wait for them. I would wait for my kid to be a teenager with that. yeah And I would, i would hope that at that time they would also have a good understanding of death um um before I would get, before I would ever show them Danganronpa. Yeah. Yeah.
01:16:08
Speaker
God, because that's just a whole mess. And I would wait until they're 18 to show them Ultra Despair Girls. Oh, God. Ultimate Despair Girls is so bad.
01:16:19
Speaker
I have flushed that out of my mind. and That game does not exist to me. You see, that game will always be stuck in my memory because we called... i think i don't know if I brought it up to you. I've i've brought this up to you before.
01:16:33
Speaker
Back when I played the game on stream. Yeah, I streamed it. Yes, folks. I streamed it too. It was horrible experience. Jotaro, the kid with all the bandages, called him Bondage Boy.
01:16:46
Speaker
no Now, granted, that wasn't my choice. That was, I think, TC. Yeah. yeah All right. We blame TC. TC, we're coming from you. ah But it's like it's like also some of the fucking themes in that game compared to the rest of the franchise.
01:17:04
Speaker
I know. There was like girl is that being tickled and you're like, this this this is weird. And yeah i was actually in somewhat somewhat of a close ah situation with stepdad, myself, and my son while we were in the car.
01:17:25
Speaker
And Flavorful had boughten me and my son. i call him Fox. Yeah. a game. And I'm like, okay, buddy, we're gonna guess what Flavorful got us? We're gonna play it when we get home, blah, blah, blah. And he's like, oh, is it Blood Money? And I'm like, okay, i I've never heard of that game.
01:17:43
Speaker
So I looked it up. Blood Money has like this pastel type of colors. You got this dude, you're doing the whole like tickle me Elmo type of scenario. You gotta tickle him with a feather. and then you switch over to a needle and then scissors and a knife and matches. And I'm like, this is not oh yes i know exactly what that game i know exactly what that game is i've seen that on and it was like buddy that is not appropriate for you where did you watch that and he's like well some let's player is playing it and i'm like okay we have something different and a conversation we're gonna have when we get home
01:18:23
Speaker
Yeah, and then that's and that's another thing and that brings up is like, again, i don't want to dive into me because that's a whole other can of worms. Yeah. The content they consume online, what what like the whole like creation of YouTube kids to kind of separate that, how creators take...
01:18:43
Speaker
how I think that there's a lot of creators that shouldn't, that are like focused towards kids. And I don't like it because there's just something feels off. I'm going to say this. There's are like one of the, like my least favorite creators on the platform right now. I do not like Nick a 30 because there is something off. I feel like there's something off about that guy.
01:19:01
Speaker
Yeah. Because he like he like granted like he's very like oh yeah he comes off as family friendly because he doesn't swear he doesn't do like a lot of stuff he's like a big thing that like a lot of kids watch.
01:19:13
Speaker
I don't know there's something off about him. I don't know. It really still boils down to parents need to look at what their kids are looking at. Yeah. Because if they come up and do the whole six, seven meme, you're like, okay, where did that come from? And they're like, well, everyone else is doing it. Okay.
01:19:31
Speaker
Where did you learn it from? Don't tell me it's from like little Timmy at school, blah, blah. I want to know where you learn it from. yeah It's from other little kids. Like.
01:19:42
Speaker
They're doing it on the, they're six, seven, on the playground. oh't know Oh, no. mean, look, here's the thing. I'd rather a kid six, seven on the playground than six, nine. Yeah. Yeah. Please don't do that. The only thing my kid does is anytime we're playing animal crossing and I got to go to a different Island and you go through like the Dodo airport and the Dodo flaps his wings. He'll get up and go, I flaps his hands. And I'm like, okay. He's like, I didn't, why did I do that? I'm like, I don't know. I didn't tell you to do it. You just did it Don't look at me.
01:20:14
Speaker
i i don't. Oh, God. I don't want to sound rude when I ask this, Carrot. Yeah, yeah. As you as a guy who has grown up autistic as ah as and has done that stuff out of nowhere at times.
01:20:29
Speaker
I do not mean to, like, push boundaries. Yes, he is autistic. Okay, okay, okay. Oh my god. Oh my god. So, and this is this is one, like, important thing that I've noticed is when he spends time with me, when he spends time with Grandma and Grandpa, and when he spends time with his actual dad, there's a huge difference in his personality.
01:20:51
Speaker
Because at Grandma and Grandpa's house, he gets to play video games all the time. He is glued to his Switch. And he gets really, really, really mad when he's losing a game of Fortnite or oh my losing out a game or anything else. know exactly how to- To point he's throwing his Switch.
01:21:09
Speaker
I, I, that sounds a lot like me at that age. Believe it or not, Karis, that sounds nearly identical. Like I wouldn't throw the the stuff. Like I knew that, but that sounds pretty damn close to me I've done the same thing when I was a kid. Cause I just, I didn't understand what was going on in the game and it wasn't explaining it to me. But when he's here at my house, it's like, okay, the games that we play,
01:21:33
Speaker
He has his own section on my Steam account with games that I approve, where it's like, here's the controller. i can go cook dinner, do laundry, you're good to go. i can set up his Switch. He plays all Luigi's Mansion. Granted, he's running around with other people as Luigi. It's like, listen, I can... and Instead, you know, I can just close my eyes for ten minutes, wake up, he's still in the same position, he's not gonna move.
01:21:59
Speaker
Like... But you still got to watch what they're doing. Yeah. No, yeah absolutely. Because I don't... Anytime we're on my computer, like, we're watching cooking shows. We're watching, like, Banana Ball. We're watching...
01:22:18
Speaker
I try and pick YouTubers that are somewhat appropriate. He's 12. He's going to learn a swear to like that will happen. know how I'm repeating slurs, but it's like, listen, we're trying to be nice to people.
01:22:36
Speaker
Just be grateful that we're in 2026 and not like ah early two thousand where it's like, oh, I'm going to say gay for everything. Oh, yeah. Well, we still do. But like, so do believe we still do. The context has changed. Yeah. Or if something is gay. No, it actually is gay. Yeah. Listen.
01:22:58
Speaker
Like, we're not using it, like, as, like, a slur like we used to. You can't use it as slur. There is a difference. And it's it's the hard thing, too, especially when you have, like, a little boy that you're raising compared to a little girl that you're raising,
01:23:13
Speaker
Um, boys, the the saying boys will be boys. They go off and do whatever, especially when they're 12 and they're getting to, like, puberty and stuff and they just want to get mad at you for something that happened when you're, like, trying to explain it to them.
01:23:31
Speaker
It's... It's hard. They usually say that like raising a girl is easier when it's about the same. yeah Kids are kids. Kids are kids.
01:23:42
Speaker
I prefer kids to have all the games that are rated e for everyone for them to go wild with. And then when when they ask to move to like a teen rated game...
01:23:57
Speaker
you know, I'll do it. I don't bring anything up to my son unless he asked. If he wants to do Five Nights at Freddy's, okay, we're gonna give it a go. Like, if you're not into it, you're not into it. If you are, we'll wait a little bit longer till we get into Any games past that?
01:24:17
Speaker
yeah No, absolutely. ah What are your thoughts on a lot of online games that targeted for kids, like Roblox or Minecraft, but they have like a large influx of adults as well. like Obviously, Minecraft's kind of a bad example because Minecraft is like you have more private worlds. like it is like It can be done single player. Roblox is very much a game that is like entirely online. And with the state of it right now, kind of a What are your thoughts on that?
01:24:50
Speaker
That's kind of a mixed bag for me because there are games that are definitely for kids that adults get into. um Like, I don't see too many kids playing Minecraft nowadays.
01:25:07
Speaker
Well, I mean, i think i think with Minecraft. Yeah. and it it's like the I know the meme is like, it's a two-week Minecraft phase. It's just like a genuinely real. Yeah. It's like everybody has that two-week phase every, like once every year, and then it's gone.
01:25:23
Speaker
Because I feel like you go in and you just creative mode, and then you're like, I'm burned out, and goodbye. Yeah, that's basically how it goes. it's so It's so hard. Because there are...
01:25:36
Speaker
really good games that just is not meant to get kids attention. And there's games that are just boom, boom, boom, boom boom in your face, like Animal Crossing.
01:25:52
Speaker
That feels like it would be good for kids to get in there to run around, build an island, blah, blah, blah. But it's not holding a little kid's attention span. Yeah, no, absolutely not. you have it's based on days. It's based on real time. You have to literally wait. Kids don't have patience.
01:26:12
Speaker
You can't teach a kid patience. It doesn't work. Believe me, I have tried. So having more games at a more fast pace, like Fortnite, where it's boom, boom boomo boom, boom, colors, flashes everywhere, that's going to get them reeling in.
01:26:30
Speaker
But then you run into the wall where you have adults that have been playing it for weeks and weeks and weeks and they've mastered the game and they're just like plowing through everybody and your kid's getting agitated.
01:26:45
Speaker
Well, try and explain to him, well, that guy's better because he spends his time doing it and you don't have the coordination because you're 12. You can't compete with him.
01:26:57
Speaker
i feel like there should be... There should be some sort of, like, there there needs to be a separation. There's no way of doing it, but there needs to be a separation with, if you are playing Fortnite, it pairs you up with people around your age.
01:27:18
Speaker
But then it's like, how are you going to do that, you know? Yeah, exactly. and This brings up the whole age verification thing that's going Because you can't tell adults to stay out of kids' spaces because video games are for everybody. Yeah, video games are for everybody. I mean, I feel like there's one big thing of like, you can tell an adult to stay of a kids' space and that's with Roblox. Yeah, please stay out of Roblox. I don't get, it's my one thing, I don't get how an adult...
01:27:51
Speaker
can go on and play Roblox. Like, I don't care, like, what game it is. i don't care, like, within Roblox. I don't care. That game has been targeted to kids for years and years and years. I don't know how you, as an adult, can think it's okay to play Roblox.
01:28:09
Speaker
Like, i I don't, I don't get it. I think it's weird. i see, like, I see, like, these big YouTubers go on and play, like, some of those minigames in Roblox. I'm like... that's kind of weird man not gonna lie yeah that's that is kids property like it's like it's like respected youtubers do like jaded animations and shit like that and i'm like that's weird man i'm not gonna lie because i see a lot of adults that do like dress to impress all the time and it's like that's a little kid dress up game yeah
01:28:44
Speaker
Like, I feel if it if it is like Roblox or if it is like Fortnite or Minecraft or anything like that, that that's a kid space.
01:28:57
Speaker
Like that should be a dedicated kid space. No adult needs to play Fortnite. I'm going to be honest. You guys. Okay. Well, here's the thing. I've done, I've been anti Fortnite for years. I just think Fortnite, I think Fortnite should have died years ago. Fortnite is, off ah but it's like from the battle Royale war, Fortnite is the one that survived and i'm just going to continue on until Epic does something extremely stupid.
01:29:23
Speaker
That will get the game canceled. But like they they play it safe now because they're partnered with fucking Disney and shit like that, too. They have to play it super safe. Now, the they have all that big funding and shit. Like it's like four days going here to stay. I've accepted that. I just don't like it or don't play it. Yeah. The one thing i really hate about Fortnite is all the emotes.
01:29:48
Speaker
Obviously, there's microtransactions. Sure. Yeah, that's also really bad. But there's a lot of emotes, especially when you are an adult and you're playing Fortnite and you're doing emotes and it looks like you're grinding up against somebody. keeps up with pop culture. And it's yeah like there's a lot of things like i pop culture that are like very much adult oriented over.
01:30:10
Speaker
That doesn't need to be a thing in a kids game. You don't need Kim Kardashian in a kids game popping the champagne on her butt. Like that's the no matter what you do is you're going to have games that have adult themes in them.
01:30:26
Speaker
But if the Stormtrooper does it, it's funny. Yeah, I know. You got Kratos doing this dance and you're like, ha ha. And then you look at your kid and he's doing a Fortnite dance and you're like, I have failed you.
01:30:38
Speaker
i have failed you so much. The second your kid hits a Fortnite dance, that's when the disappointment hits. Yeah, it's like, listen, just go outside, go play in the snow. I will just come back when it's dark, okay? It's just like you look at the kid. I'm going to you at that window and play outside.
01:30:54
Speaker
You're going to your dad's. ah That's the worst one. You're going to your dad's. Damn. because i i always I always feel bad because especially when it comes to when it comes to video games and it comes to picking stuff for 12 year old to play.
01:31:14
Speaker
Like... obviously nothing's gonna stop him from looking at adult things like he's got roku he's got a tv he can he could probably hack the white house i ain't gonna stop him like i mean at this point yeah at this point he could at this point they could and you know what uh at this point it's better them than us yeah because ah all they'll get is a slap on the wrist hopefully But it is one of those, like, you as a parent, you have to learn to monitor your kids, teach them about internet safety, like, get them with other people their age, get them... If if you feel like something personally isn't age-appropriate, like, don't get it. If you as a parent want to get their kids into horror things...
01:32:07
Speaker
Like, go ahead, it's your money, it's your child, it's whatever. But you can't harp on other parents out there that don't want their kids into Blood, Guts, and Gore with Poppy Playtime Benny and the Ink Machine.
01:32:21
Speaker
Like, if they're mature enough and they can handle that subject matter and you can sit down and have a talk with them, like, I feel like it's okay.
01:32:33
Speaker
Yeah, is at the end of the day at the end of the day, like we said, be a parent, do your research. Yeah, please do your research before you do anything. ah as a Yeah, and then yeah just just keep your kids safe online.
01:32:49
Speaker
That's all it comes down to. I remember when, i don't know if it's still a thing, but when Gaia Online was a huge thing. And ah it's just a goofy little dress-up thing.
01:33:02
Speaker
yeah you You buy stuff with money, you do all this stuff, blah, blah, blah. And i remember my mom was trying to be a stranger on there, teach me about stranger danger. and was like, oh, i I know what you were to school. you look cute, blah, blah, blah. It's like, that's that's the wrong way of teaching your kid about internet safety? Like, at least she's got...
01:33:28
Speaker
It's like, this is weird. It's weird. Like, look, hey, what you're trying to do, respect, you're doing it wrong. Yeah, you're doing you it run the wrong, Mom. It's one of those, like... Like, ah appreciate the heart you have for trying to teach your kids this.
01:33:47
Speaker
But that... don't Don't do it like that. It's one of those... no No kid needs to have a Steam account. look at Look at all the things on Steam. No kid needs to have a Steam account. No kid needs to have a Twitch account. At least wait until... You can't you can't wait until like the perfect age to get your kids into things.
01:34:11
Speaker
There's no no way of doing it. Because they're going to... They're going to do something. They're gonna figure it out. They're going to make a secret Instagram account behind your back and post guns. I know. Not the guns.
01:34:27
Speaker
But it it really is. Just watch. just Watch your kids. Get them off. They don't need the Internet. They really don't. They really don't. Just keep them on the iPad and give them, I don't know, fucking Candy Crush for the rest of their life.
01:34:42
Speaker
No, my singing monsters. It's free. Oh, shit. i Shows what I know. that The moment they get Final Fantasy of fourteen on an iPad is moment it's over for my son.
01:34:56
Speaker
Oh, Well, ah anything else you want to add on the topic, Carrots? ah Can we just get rid of Roblox? Can we just like make it? Hey, states that are suing Roblox, can you guys win and shut down that that game, please? Yeah, just just shut down the whole thing. no one no one needs to be on there. no one. Yeah, no. No one. needs Like legit Roblox. can we Can we bring back Club Penguin?
01:35:23
Speaker
it's all yeah As much as I would like to, Disney is the one who shut that down. And there's no way we're getting that one back. yeah just just teach teach your kid internet safety keep them off the internet don't helicopter them but like don't don't give in into all of their demands like their kid they'll they'll learn yeah to be better at video games yeah it's true i used to be bad now i'm still bad yeah also like when in doubt you can always play games with your kids
01:35:58
Speaker
Like I do it all the time. Heck, there's a couple times where I'll stream with Fox sitting next to me and it's like, okay, when, when the camera's pointed down, we say our streamer names. When the camera's pointed up, we say our actual names.
01:36:12
Speaker
Like, we know not to not to spill the beans on who we are, where we are, stuff like that, because he's next to me. And I know that he's basic he basically copies me.
01:36:24
Speaker
If I get a snack, he gets a snack. If I'm on my phone, he's on his tablet. Like, kids are going to watch what you do. so Yeah, we see we see that in commercials. There's a French fry commercial where a kid imitates his dad eating French fries. Yeah.
01:36:42
Speaker
So all you gotta to do is like sit down, be like, hey, we're doing this. This is why. Explain. If they bring up a topic, you answer, you know, that sort of thing. Like really, really fill their brains with like knowledge of things they shouldn't do, things they like should say, things they shouldn't get into,
01:37:07
Speaker
you know And it's it's hard because everybody's everybody's parenting is different. That's the pain in the butt part. That it is. As a guy who is not a parent, I'll just agree with carrots because she is a parent.
01:37:23
Speaker
I try. as I said, he's 12 going on 20, okay? It's not one a hole. Mom's hand when we're going shopping. That is it. A goodbye kiss? Uh-uh.

Uma Musume Game Discussion

01:37:36
Speaker
Moms have cooties, okay? Okay. Oh, cooties are still a thing? Yeah, moms have cooties. You can't get my mom cooties, man. can Can't get the mom cooties.
01:37:47
Speaker
All right. I think with that, Carits, I think ah we'll put away the child talk and move on to our second topic, horse girls. Hell yeah, horse girls. The fucking, the fucking trend. What a change. What drastic change in topics. All right. Away from kids and now horse kids. and We're talking Uma Musume finally on this podcast. Finally. Global version came out last year.
01:38:16
Speaker
ah So the whole world could experience it, not just Japan and China. i Mostly Japan. Question mark. Yeah, I don't actually know where the app was before. I know Japan because obviously it originates in Japan. What got you into checking out Ubumusume?
01:38:34
Speaker
Oh, the anime first. OK, because of we Special a Week. i love a Special Week. She is adorable. And um i only i had only seen like a few episodes and then it just kind of drifted out of my mind because who gets an anime? Like, come on. we We're in adults. We got places to be. um And when I saw that they had the Unamusume Horsey game for free, i was like, oh check it out.
01:39:06
Speaker
The... The problem I had was with it is it threw too many things at you right off the bat. But then you watch other streamers playing it and you're like, oh, well, I'm going to hop back into it because they're doing it.
01:39:23
Speaker
But all the bright lights and shiny colors and flashing things, you're like, I can't pull myself away, you know, and then you're spending money and it's a terrible thing. with got Yeah, but that's that's yeah that's got that's the gotcha part. Ah, we got your wallet.
01:39:40
Speaker
got your wallet and I'm going to tell you about the horsey girls with the trading cards. Yeah.
01:39:47
Speaker
yeah So so that's that's how you got into it. ah Yeah, I got into it because of ah good old TC and Zach. ah It's always TC!
01:40:00
Speaker
ah Specifically more Zach, our our trash man, actual trash PhD. ah we They talked about it. They streamed it in Discord a couple times. I watched. I'm like, oh, this isn't what I thought this game was. You just build stats. pick You pick a horse, girl.
01:40:16
Speaker
You build their stats, and then you watch them race. Mm-hmm. and That's it. Now, I was there for like, I really like the ending of the race where they do the idol pop song thing. yes Every, if you win a race, you get a song.
01:40:33
Speaker
Depending on which horse you get, they have, they each perform certain songs. But everybody, if you finish the Grand Prix and you succeed, you get to Uma Pyo. Yeah. Is what the song is called. It's called Uma Pyo Legend, I think is like what the proper song title is.
01:40:48
Speaker
And it's the song where if you like, if you remember, there was a TikTok trend ah about with Uemusabe. It was like the first one, not the current one with the Taitaku Helios and the way sound effect.
01:41:03
Speaker
It was like the first one that was like an actual song. I don't remember. that yeah It's a bit old. It's all. Yeah. So as old. Our memories are bad.
01:41:14
Speaker
Yeah. ah That's what Uma Pyo is. Anyways. That's it is. I found myself enjoying the game ah for a month and then like all gacha games I stopped afterwards.
01:41:31
Speaker
Because, you know, that's what I usually do with gacha games is to give it a month. they' it's It's cool for what it is. it plays out better for a mobile than it does. I will say probably one of the better gotcha games because like you really don't have to spend a lot in this one. like You don't have anything this one. Like, that like fucking...
01:41:52
Speaker
The Hoyle ones get you with fucking spending. ah Like, I don't trust, like, a lot of other gacha games. Like, even the Persona one, you gotta spend. Now, listen, my main addiction is reverse 1999, but, like, I only do that because of Medicine Pocket, but that's another story.
01:42:10
Speaker
I blame Flavorful for getting me hooked on that. And fair and i am i am so I am so mad because when I started Musume, it's like, oh, this is really cool. You know, i got a couple of like oh ah Rainbow Ultimate Girls, bla blah, blah, blah. And while I was playing Crash Manicoot, like Flavorful was playing Uma Musume and got like five Rainbow Girls right off the bat. And I'm like, I'm deleting this. but I am done. Little rest of the R.E.G.
01:42:40
Speaker
<unk> like you i i win I had good luck. I had decent luck. i TC's still mad that I pulled Tayso Jordan. I pulled Jordan and TC was mad that I got her.
01:42:56
Speaker
Oh no, put B.B. And then like immediately I pulled the Narita Brian, like when the new banner started as well. And I'm like, oh, cool. Got that one right right away.
01:43:08
Speaker
Nice. The best one is golden chip. i'm going to be honest. Old chip is great. ah And again, so all the horses are based on real life Japanese race horses that are either alive or dead. ah Spanning across like 40 years of like Japanese racehorsing.
01:43:24
Speaker
It's crazy. Horse racing. not racehorsing, horse racing. ah So each one, their designs and their outfits are based around like their real life horse. The color of their hair usually represent usually yeah represents, represents the color of the horse's hair. There are some exceptions like twin fucking turbo and her bright blue hair. Obviously that horse was not blue.
01:43:53
Speaker
And I think, isn't it with a thing, depending on where they have like a charm on the side of their Yeah, where they have a charm on their ears. ah If it's on... Oh, God. If it's on the... If it's on one side, it's a girl. If it's on the other, it's a boy.
01:44:10
Speaker
yeah like That's what the the gender of the real horse was. Yeah. ah Actually, hold on. Let me look at Haru Ura-Ra, because that'll tell us everything we need to know. ah think Haru is a girl.
01:44:23
Speaker
Yeah, ah so it is Haru's left ear. Yeah. So if it's a left ear, it is a girl horse. If it was on the right ear, it was a boy horse.
01:44:34
Speaker
There you go. yeah I love, honestly, like, although their school uniforms are the same, there's nothing that's standout-ish. Yeah, it's a race uniform. really love their idol pop uniforms. Yeah.
01:44:51
Speaker
Like, i'm I am only there for... I am that idol pop girly. I am only there for those outfits. Horse racing? Okay, so rapid-fire question time, Carrots, for you for Uma Musume. Are you ready?
01:45:03
Speaker
Favorite horse? Daiwan Scarlet. Favorite song? oh Ooh...
01:45:14
Speaker
That's kind of hard. I'm going to be honest. i I don't pay attention to any of the songs. Wow. Wow. She says she's an idol pop girly and doesn't pay attention to the idol pop girly Ever since Flave put me on the track to Reverse 1999, any other gacha games? Out the window. Umumusume? Out. ah Magic Madokawa? Completely out.
01:45:39
Speaker
Wow. Wow. Unbelievable. I'm so, I know. I'm so bad. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. I can't believe this. You could have just said, you could have just said, I would have moved on. could have not grilled you like this. It's funny because I have the Umumusa maze as the stream element.
01:46:00
Speaker
It's all your thing. It's your stream chat. They appear as little Umumusa girls. And this, and you, a fake fake fan fake fan i you know what my favorite song is uh carrots huh uh it it was uh uh winning the soul ah the one that's used uh by the anime it's the one used to kick off season two uh when they when trainer and uh rudolph realized that uh taio's injured uh when she's performing because she can't do her taio step
01:46:35
Speaker
i know the I know the intro to the anime is really cute, but again. yeah god I'm such a fake fan. I'm sorry. Fake fan. Can't believe this. like scarlet i really i really like scarlet's like pigtail ba design and her idol outfit's like really really cute um and i know flavorful's like favorite is vodka and they're like oh they're rivals in real life yeah they're rivals but also like roommates and i find it really funny that out of all the horsies he picked it's vodka because alcohol
01:47:08
Speaker
Oh, yeah, right. I forgot that. That is why he picked that one, too. I forgot about that. It's the only one. It's like, oh which one you pick? Alcohol? It's like, oh, no, that makes sense. I pick the i picked the poppiest of pop stars. don't know any songs.
01:47:23
Speaker
My favorites were Narita Bryan and Cold City. Yeah.
01:47:33
Speaker
Those were my two that are my favorites. ah how much real horse lore have you learned from Uma Musume? Because that's the real question. That's the real question. Because, my God, when I started this, i because of Zack and TC, I learned so much about the real-life horses and how Gold Ship cost a $12 million yet incident, how Haru never won a race in her entire career, yet was still so beloved up in...
01:48:05
Speaker
even Like post-mortem. How fucking special week is racist. Wait, special week is racist? You don't know that special week is right. Yeah. So special week does not like chestnut colored horses.
01:48:24
Speaker
Special week, you're a horse. You can't be racist. They were, though. it's The real special week, he did not like. He would get visibly upset around chestnut-colored horses i would like just like stay away from them. like They wanted nothing to do with them.
01:48:43
Speaker
I don't know why that's so funny. I think I'm a horse that's racist. Yeah. Special week is racist in both senses as they're a racehorse racist and they're a racist racist.
01:48:58
Speaker
Oh my God. That is the best thing ever. I know i felt um I felt really bad for Haru. The fact that she never won a race and she passed away. But but like the sweet thing is so many fans loved her so much. They kept sending her food.
01:49:18
Speaker
Like, I think she tons and tons and tons of grass that rest people could could send her because they just absolutely loved her.
01:49:29
Speaker
And when she passed away, obviously the the food went to the other horses. I think that's that's really sweet. You know, you could buy special things for the horses that you like. And every horse has a marketable plushie.
01:49:42
Speaker
Every goddamn horse has a marketable plushie. That is cute. That is cute. Yeah, like, you if you go to, like, whatever, like, the ranches or, like, the stables are, like, there's usually a gift shop around some of them.
01:49:56
Speaker
And it's, like, you can find the horse, like, each horse has a unique one. I think it's, like, their tag tells you which one that they are. Or it's, like, you can just tell just from the design of the horse plushy which one It's, like, it's crazy. like Like, that horse racing is, like, like this, it's much bigger. Like, don't say it's, like, it's much bigger than it is in the States, but it's, like,
01:50:17
Speaker
It kind of is. But then again, like I never really paid attention to the horse racing scene until Uma Musume as well. Yeah, because I know horse racing here in the States, you got i I feel like people, especially in the States, when it comes to horse racing, you're not there to watch the horses. You're there to show off your wealth and have really big hats.
01:50:38
Speaker
Yeah, and gamble and gamble. Well, come on. You do that with both. You do that with Uma Musume. Come on.
01:50:47
Speaker
Yeah, i i I know there was ah I think it was rice shower. I felt bad ah because I think one of the races they injured their leg and they had to be put down on the field. Yes. I just like, oh, he was only six in horse years. i don't know what that is in human years, but he was still young that's that's got ah That's the thing with racehorses. Racehorses have to be young like because that's their prime.
01:51:15
Speaker
Yeah. like That's why racehorses only race for like a couple years. like I think it's like five at Don't quote me. it's like they race young.
01:51:25
Speaker
um but it's like they race young I feel really bad for... Like racehorse... Yeah, so they generally start their careers at two years old with many peaking at ages four or five. Legally, they can race until they're age 14.
01:51:39
Speaker
Yeah. I feel bad, though. I think it would really suck to to be a racing horse. ah Especially if you're, like, an Umumusume-style racing horse.
01:51:53
Speaker
Like... That's gonna suck. I mean, i I wouldn't mind sitting down and actually like watching like a real live race. I think that'd be kind of cool.
01:52:06
Speaker
but mean There's a lot of like like a lot on YouTube that you can watch. ah But I feel like it's got the same thing with NASCAR. They're just going in a circle. I mean, yeah, except it' except with unlike NASCAR, though, it's only one circle they make. it not Yeah, not multiple circles, but it's like, okay, you're running from point A to point B. I think that's why. At least with horses, you just hear the announcer going nuts, yelling every single name.
01:52:33
Speaker
Yeah, like, oh, there's Skibbity Riz going down the first bend in first place. Skibbity Riz, by the fo way, folks, is a real American horse. That is wild. I am not kidding. It is a real horse name that somebody named.
01:52:45
Speaker
I think the main reason why I walked away from Mumu Musume is, like, you're just watching the girls run around the track. You're not doing anything.
01:52:58
Speaker
Yeah. are you well I mean, that is cut it's the core gameplay loop. Like I said, yeah you do things, you train horses by tapping which one that you want to race. Yeah. It'll help you get a number.
01:53:08
Speaker
And so the number gets bigger and speed goes ka-chow. I think I i wish i wish they could have done like something different, like get you a little bit more involved instead of like opening up cards, opening up To see which horse girl you get and then just sitting back and like not doing anything.
01:53:34
Speaker
Yeah, it is very, a very brain dead. Gotcha. like It definitely works better. It's like a mobile because then you can line up the the horse race, put your phone down, go make something to eat and then come back. Bada bing, bada boom. They're dancing now. You're not going to miss anything. And it's a wash, rinse, repeat of the same stuff you're doing over. Picking girl, training her. Maybe she fails at training. Maybe she succeeds. Maybe she wins a race. And then you do a couple of races, retire her, and then you have to pick a new one. And it's like, okay, I got my fun out of it for a couple of days.
01:54:10
Speaker
That's not in my mind. I'm moving on to something else. It really did not grab my attention at all. Yeah. Absolutely. Is there anything else you want to add on Imba Musume before we jump into the bonus level for today?
01:54:22
Speaker
um

Final Thoughts and Humor

01:54:26
Speaker
I'm just going to say it that like my girl Scarlet, like she she beats Haru. I'm just saying in gold and gold chip, like that's that's my girl right there. that's that That is my horse daughter, and I love her to bits. She's going to be number one.
01:54:39
Speaker
All right. With that, then, it's time for us to start closing things out and head on into the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
01:54:53
Speaker
All right, and in the bonus level, our first segment of the day is the Game Clash. It's back. Eight games, or eight things that are game-related, going head-to-head in a little bracket-style tournament. And figured, because I haven't brought it up, ah Steam Next Fest, by the time you're listening to this podcast, ah ends on the 3rd.
01:55:16
Speaker
So I've grabbed eight Steam Next Fest games that I've gotten some traction. And carrots, ah you're going to decide the winners of each one. Are you ready? will do my best. I haven't played some of these.
01:55:31
Speaker
All right. First off, we got Burgling Gnomes, a game you play with your friends. You're a bunch of gnomes and you burgle from a human. ah Versus Flock Around. This is that bird watching game that you can play with your friends.
01:55:45
Speaker
Ooh. Ooh. Ooh, those are good ones because it's either you be chaotic or you just be relaxing.
01:55:55
Speaker
I'm going to go with... I'm going to go with Flock Around because I feel like there's not enough cozy friend slap games out there. Okay. Match two, we got sledding game...
01:56:08
Speaker
ah which if you listen to this podcast, you should be a bit familiar with. It's a a favorite. ah Versus people of note. This is an RPG. Themes are a lot around music and you build your party with different people who come from different music genres.
01:56:24
Speaker
And yeah it has a timed based combat like Claire Obscure Expedition 33. I'm going to go with people of note because oh i feel like the sledding game in the beginning was a lot of fun. I really like the roulette wheel. I really like just going to town on it. But since they brought the demo back and they have the prize wheel, there's not much flavor to it now because you have to start everything over from square one. You lose your progress completely. i mean, like, granted, yeah, losing all of the progress that we had with the demo, yeah.
01:56:58
Speaker
Yeah, that did happen. I will say that. um I also think that like it's the same areas that we've got to go to with this with the demo still.
01:57:09
Speaker
i Yeah, there wasn't anything new to it. yeah I think if they because I think the demo goes to the signing game demo, a lot of these demos, what's next? I says over will be going away.
01:57:21
Speaker
um Once the demo goes, I think Slaying Game is one of them. i think that if he does put out the demo again later on, hopefully there will be some new stuff in it to check out area wise.
01:57:35
Speaker
ah Match three, Vampire Crawlers, the new spinoff from Vampire Survivors made by the same folks. That's a deck building game ah versus Frog Squad from the creators of fall Guys.
01:57:48
Speaker
ah They've got a co-op frog action game. Weirdly enough, i work I look so forward to Frog Squad. Because that just looks like so much fun. Just chaotically taking people down.
01:58:05
Speaker
It absolutely does. ah Match for Recoin. The coin pusher roguelike versus Dench Attack.
01:58:17
Speaker
The high paced, high speed, what if a train could do a kickflip game? I'm going to go with Recoin. I...
01:58:29
Speaker
I really, it's it's something about Big Number Gober that you can just put coins in a machine. And my son flippin' loves that game. Because you you put that little kid down, he's occupied for hours. And it's like, if I can do chores and he's good and I don't have to worry about him, like...
01:58:53
Speaker
That's good and some days. You just want to take a nap. It's like 45 minutes. Wake me up when your game's over whatever or something's on fire. Yeah.
01:59:04
Speaker
Okay. Study finals flock ah around versus people of note. ah Definitely. Yeah.
01:59:17
Speaker
Oh, fuck. That's so hard. ah I'll go with people and note. Honestly, it sounds a lot cooler than walk around. And Frog Squad versus Recoin. Yeah, I'm going to stick with Recoin.
01:59:30
Speaker
Ooh, okay. Grand finals. but People of note versus Recoin. Absolutely, Recoin. Recoin takes it, folks. Wishlist it now. This is not sponsored. Please please finish that. Please. it's it's It's so entertaining and my kids fucking learning, okay?
01:59:49
Speaker
All righty. Moving on to this week of gaming history. Here's what happened in the past from March 2nd to 15th, starting with major events. March 2nd, 2010, Wade McGilberry of Alabama pitches a perfect game in MLB winning $1 million dollars in a contest sponsored by 2K Sports.
02:00:09
Speaker
Hmm. March 7th, 2006, at 1.31 a.m. Pacific Time, the one millionth unique user of the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection joins the network.
02:00:22
Speaker
And at March 10th, 2010, Sony unveils the Move motion-controlled video game controller for the p PlayStation 3. The system is used with an iGaming webcam.
02:00:33
Speaker
Oh, God, the iGaming webcam. That was a nightmare. ah For video game birthdays, March 2nd, Ninja Gaiden, the modern Ninja Gaiden, turns 22.

02:01:11
Speaker
And on the 15th, Okamiden for the DS turns 15. There is no way Gauntlet Dark Legacy is 24. It it is Oh my God.
02:01:25
Speaker
oh my God. I've never felt so old. You're welcome. I've played i played the one for the 64. Me and my brothers have played the one for the PlayStation 2. We know all the cheat names to put in I've played that on stream. oh my God. Moving on to Tony's game poll.
02:01:48
Speaker
ah we got a pretty simple poll this season. What sport should Mario play next? Now, ah I do have a list of gay of the sports that Mario has played to help those who do not know what everything Mario has played.
02:02:03
Speaker
ah Mario has currently played tennis, baseball, soccer, basketball, golf, volleyball, dodgeball, ice hockey, horse racing, dancing, s and the Olympics in general.
02:02:17
Speaker
Now, if a sport falls under the Olympics, I'm like, I'm like, we're not counting like track and field events or like stuff like that. Like obviously like, cause like basketball falls under, like, let's say that Mario didn't play basketball, but since basketball has been in the Olympics before basketball would still count because it's like its own thing other than the Olympics.
02:02:40
Speaker
What sports are there Yeah.
02:02:45
Speaker
More than you would think. ah Yeah. cause cause if you did if you did like a NASCAR style racing, that's just Mario Kart. Yes. Obviously, we're not counting like Mario like like racing because that is just Mario Kart.
02:03:00
Speaker
Gosh. um
02:03:06
Speaker
is Has he done like a... i don't know if he's done like a skateboarding one. Oh, I don't. I think he's been like a guest character in stuff, but like guest characters, we're not counting. So I will take skateboarding. Skateboarding or a climbing.
02:03:25
Speaker
Like rock climbing. Yeah, like rock climbing. I mean, I'll take skateboarding over rock climbing. Yeah, that one sounds cooler. It sounds cooler. Yeah. Mario about to hit an ollie. Mario about to hit the air Jesus on you. If you set it up like you would, like, different game segments, like they have an MXC where it's ah you got skate down...
02:03:49
Speaker
um You gotta sneak down the street. You know that Sonic game? um Running around at the speed of sound. Oh, like certainly how the start of Sonic Adventure 2. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're going down San Francisco on a skateboard and you're just flipping and stuff.
02:04:08
Speaker

02:05:33
Speaker
Ooh. And your game of the week is Scott Pilgrim X. And our guest game recommendation, Karis, if there is a game old or new that you would recommend to the audience right now, what game would that be?
02:05:46
Speaker
Uh... I would say reverse 1999. Um, granted, it is a gotcha game. Granted, flavorful is probably talked a lot more about it. Um, my goodness.
02:06:00
Speaker
It's it's strangely addicting to where once you get high enough level, you can just set and forget a type of deal.
02:06:12
Speaker
um It's got really cool characters. It's got a whole plethora of like everything between male characters, female characters, all the mixes in between.
02:06:23
Speaker
You got beautiful art styles. You got really cool outfits. you You really don't have to spend a single dime on it unless you really, really want an outfit. But that goes for like any gacha game out there.
02:06:36
Speaker
yeah um I will say, and i do want to blame flavorful for this, it is spreading like a plague. Because once you get one person in they get the next people, and they get the next people, and they get the next people, and it just goes on and on and on once Once you pick it up, it's like, okay, I don't want to put this down. Okay, so don't touch it, is what you're me. No, do it, it's free!
02:07:02
Speaker
No, no, I... You can't trust me around that shit. listen like, I didn't think I was going to be deeply into it. And I don't really pay attention to the lore because I don't really care. I have the mindset of a child, let's be honest. But there's a character in there named Medicine Pocket who was originally a dog. And for my and Flavorful's like one year anniversary, he got me a Medicine Pocket jacket that I just absolutely love to death. And it's like, you know what?
02:07:34
Speaker
I'm going to spend more time on this game just so I can sweet talk them into getting me more merch.
02:07:42
Speaker
My gosh. Because that's what you do. Like, listen, you can listen, you got to you get in a game as a couple and you sweet talk the other person into buying you hundreds and hundreds of dollars of merch.
02:07:56
