Podcast Introduction & Topics Overview
00:00:13
Speaker
What's up, everybody? Welcome to the Log on Games podcast for Friday, June the 23rd.
Impact of Nintendo Direct Announcement
00:00:22
Speaker
On this episode, we're going to go over the announcements from the Nintendo Direct, give our thoughts on all of that stuff. And that's probably about it. You know, there's been some games that have recently come out and made Dabble and two here and there, but
00:00:41
Speaker
We got a surprise Nintendo direct, so we're going to talk about that.
Guest Introduction @Xuser8X
00:00:44
Speaker
Uh, with me, you can find him at X user, eight X everywhere, just everywhere. We have too many places. You hear that? That's funny. Usually that happened because usually Emily's not home, but if Emily's home and there's a noise, they're freaking. That's so funny.
Diablo Gameplay & Season Controversy
00:01:11
Speaker
Okay, so what's going on? Uh, not much actually, um, playing a game that, um, just came out. Are we playing on talking about Diablo at all? Did you talk about that last time? Well, we can talk about Diablo. Okay. We haven't played a lot of Diablo. A lot of Diablo. Where did you finish the story yet? Uh, about
00:01:37
Speaker
45 minutes ago, beat the dungeon to go to the next world tier. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Nice. Nice. How are you feeling about it? Good. So far so good. I'm actually to that point where like,
00:01:54
Speaker
The world tier change is necessary because I'm starting to get like, I'm almost becoming underpowered for my level because the level of everything else is going up. But the stuff that I can, that like the equipment that I can get on the world to two is not great. Yeah. So I need to bump it up.
00:02:11
Speaker
There has been some controversy on if you've seen this in the Diablo world, which has been the case for, they've said for like, since they started doing seasons in Diablo three, which I don't think we ever did were playing when they were doing seasons, but I don't remember.
00:02:30
Speaker
But when the like when season one starts with the battle pass and all the stuff that they're doing for season one, the only way to play that is to create a whole new character and play from scratch. Really? And then when season two comes out, that character goes.
00:02:47
Speaker
They call it the eternal realm in the seasonal realm. So your seasonal character will move to the eternal realm where you can keep playing it on that. And then when season two starts, everybody starts back over again. So, okay. It's a thing that apparently the album has been doing since forever, but I don't hate that. I don't want to start a new character. I don't hate that. Just don't think I'll be a part of it.
00:03:12
Speaker
Well, I will because I've already paid for part of season one. I may have, I may have as well, but it's very
Diablo 4 Seasonal Model Analysis
00:03:22
Speaker
interesting. I think it's a lot. I think it's just because Diablo four is blown up and it's way bigger than Diablo three ever was at this moment in time.
00:03:31
Speaker
And you have a lot of players coming in from like all these other ongoing games that do seasonal models like, like destiny and final fantasy 14 or whatever. And you're like, you mean this character that I've been trying to get to level 100 to max out. Like I can't even use in the season. And they're like, yeah. So I think it's rubbing some people the wrong way. Maybe they'll change it in the future, but I think it's okay. Cool.
X Defiant Beta Impressions
00:03:57
Speaker
I do think for that to be more viable.
00:04:01
Speaker
They need to have more characters, more classes. Yeah. If you had like 10 classes to choose from, I don't think you'd be so bothered to start a new class or a new character or whatever. Could you? Okay. We'll try something different this season.
00:04:14
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know how it works in the seasonal stuff because I've never done it before, but I know like in the like you can start a new character and skip the story and like have all of your skill points stuff available. Okay. And start from there. I don't know if you can do that in the seasonal stuff, but we'll find out. Okay. Interesting. Cool. Oh yeah. So that's what I've been up to. I've been playing a lot of that. And I know you've been playing a lot of that too. Have been, uh, as of yesterday, the ex defiant beta happened and
00:04:43
Speaker
Me, Andrew Colby, Tanner all got on last night. It was like just, the beta was just not working for like ever. And then we tried it at like 10 o'clock or something about this time, about nine or 10. And we all grouped up and started playing. And so. Yeah, so I was playing some Diablo. I saw you on late playing.
00:05:03
Speaker
It's fun. Obviously it's a beta, so there's a lot of stuff that people feel like need to be fixed or whatever already, but it is very much like it feels like Call of Duty with just a smidge of Overwatch, just a smidge. Like your characters have, you have abilities and the factions are from like all the different Ubisoft games or whatever, so you have like
00:05:30
Speaker
The Splinter Cell people can like go invisible or like get intel on your map and stuff like that. And their like special move like their ult or whatever is like they put the night vision goggles on and they can see all the enemies and they have a one shot kill pistol kind of thing.
00:05:48
Speaker
And so they do that. I know there's a watch dogs faction, a far cry faction, the splinter cell one, a division one, and a ghost recon one, I think. So they all kind of do that kind of stuff, but we've been, we've been having fun. What about rabbits?
Final Fantasy 16 Reviews Brief
00:06:05
Speaker
And it's, uh, well, I, in the practice area, there's a bunch of rabbits, a bunch of them. I want a rabbit's faction.
00:06:14
Speaker
Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me. Supposedly there's a faction coming out that they haven't announced yet when the game actually drops. It's weird now because I think everything is unlocked, like all the weapons, all the attachments and everything is unlocked. So like you get experience, it doesn't go towards anything, but it's a free to play game and it's fun so far. It didn't look interesting to me. We're going to probably hop on again after this podcast.
00:06:45
Speaker
It's just one of those games where it's like, I'm glad it feels good. I'm also playing on 120 frames, so it feels buttery smooth. But what's it going to be like when you're actually like, you know, what's the game going to look like when it's out three or four months after it's out? Like, you know, what's it going to be like then? Sure. Their seasonal stuff, their ongoing game type stuff like
00:07:10
Speaker
Halo obviously didn't have that stuff ready, which is why nobody plays it now. So is this game going to have that stuff ready? We'll see. It's from people that used to make Call of Duty. They made this specifically to compete with Call of Duty. So interesting if it works out. And then the only other thing game wise is the reviews for Final Fantasy 16 coming out being super great.
00:07:37
Speaker
Hmm. I don't see what it is. What it is on Metacritic. It was 88, I think is what it was. Yeah. Sitting at 88 right now. Um, 98 positive eight mixed zero negative. Um, I don't know what other scores go, but I've been watching some people talk about it and they're like, yeah, it's, it's like an anime mixed with Game of Thrones. And I'm like, I'm down. If that was turned based on being.
00:08:07
Speaker
That's what they say. That's what they say. I saw a tweet and I was like, for the, for everybody that's, and you may already be playing this or already beat it. I don't know. Like for everybody that wishes Final Fantasy was still turn based, play Octopath Traveler too. I haven't, I haven't yet. I'm still, actually I just played Octopath Traveler one the other night and laying in bed before going to bed. So big game. Still got to beat it.
00:08:30
Speaker
I'm actually more excited about, I still haven't played, um, triangle strategy because of all the final fantasies, final fantasy 10 is my favorite, but there are rumors that they're remaking it 10. Yeah. Yeah. It makes sense. It makes sense. But also after that, I think I kind of actually like final fantasy tactics. The next best. I love that game. Wow. I would.
00:08:56

So surprising that we didn't do a reaction because they were like, we're doing it. And then they did it. Uh, how do you think
Nintendo Direct Highlights
00:09:45
Speaker
it was? I don't know. When they announced it, I was kind of, Oh yeah. I kind of assumed one was coming.
00:09:49
Speaker
Yeah, I like I went in the podcast a lot for like all these episodes in June of being like with Nintendo does it right. We'll probably do a reaction to it, but we did. But yeah, yeah. Yeah. It was weird that we didn't know about it till like now. Yeah, maybe so. But but it happened and we're going to kind of go through some things. I'm going to start from the bottom because that's what I want to do.
00:10:18
Speaker
I'm just going to kind of go through. This is not in any particular order. Some of the more bottom things that I'm I have things I'm starting at the bottom. This is from IGN dot com. Actually, no, I lied. I'm starting from the top. I just went to the bottom. OK. So the biggest, biggest news, biggest announcement
00:10:42
Speaker
Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a brand new a brand new 2D Mario game was announced and will be released on the switch on October the 20th, 2023. The trailer featured an extended look at gameplay and even showed up a new elephant power up for Mars.
00:11:01
Speaker
One of the big news surprises for this 2D Mario game is the wonder flowers, as they make wild and unexpected things happen in the world, like causing pipes to come to life. Furthermore, it will let players choose whether to play as Mario, Luigi Toad, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Yoshi.
00:11:19
Speaker
The way the trailer looked is that there definitely is co-op. So similar to the Super Mario Brothers, the Wii U one that also came over to the switch. It looks like you can play the whole thing co-op, which is a fun time. Big fan of that. Yeah, we're due for a two. We've been due for a 2D Mario for quite some time now. And now we have one. So there you go. Are you excited? Sure.
00:11:49
Speaker
I'd rather play a 3D Mario personally, but Nintendo needs to always make these.
Nintendo's Strategy & Future Predictions
00:11:59
Speaker
So big, yeah, it looks good. The graphically looks real smooth, real good. I like it. Yep, same. Another Mario announcement that happened, Super Mario RPG Remake announced for November the 17th, 2023.
00:12:17
Speaker
Uh, this adventure, which stars Mario Bowser, Princess Peach, Mallow, Gino, and more. These are heroes attempting to take down the smithy gang while collecting seven stars to repair the star road. Yeah. I love it. I'm excited about this one. I had played it in a very, very long time. Yeah. I figured this would be your jam. Yep. Yeah. I've always liked, uh,
00:12:44
Speaker
You know, the Paper Mario, the Mario and Luigi superstar sag, like all the RPG ones, I enjoy it. It's good stuff. And this is obviously a great, great game. 64, right? Pretty sure it's 64. I have no idea. It's been a long time. I think it was before that. Really? Before that. Maybe you're right. I don't know. I'm not, I can't remember, but no, that's great. I would assume that this leads to another,
00:13:12
Speaker
uh, Mario RPG two or whatever they won't call it that. But, uh, I would assume that leads to a Mario RPG of a new fashion in the next few years. This all seems like, like these are the biggest hitters for their June summer Nintendo direct, which is usually like their biggest one in the year.
00:13:40
Speaker
Yes. So this kind of screams to me like, listen. This is what you're going to get, because we're kind of nearing the end of the switch, like it seems to me like they're saving. Mm hmm. Like, where's Metroid Prime for? You know, like all these games that we want to know about, like, where's the next 3D Mario? Where's the next Mario Kart, which they did the Mario Kart a DLC thing in here. But like, you know, the big ones that we we want, like we got a warrior where announcement coming up, Detective Pikachu is the next one.
00:14:08
Speaker
Seems like this is the end of the Switch games we're going to be getting, which are good. I mean, a lot of people want these. Yeah, definitely. Well, let you know what you're doing this year. The 2D Mario is October 20. The Mario RPG remake is November 17. So a month later and they're giving you their their holidays, their end of the year stuff.
Additional Game Announcements
00:14:31
Speaker
Yeah, like I said, Detective Pikachu 2 coming to Nintendo Switch in October as well. Mm hmm. I think the first one came out on the 3DS like I never played it around when the switch came out. So I'd already like sold my 3DSs to pay for the switch. Mm hmm. And so I never played it. And I watched the movie, though. Yep. Movies good. Good movie. Good.
00:14:58
Speaker
Uh, but yeah, it's been weird that we haven't seen detective Pikachu two since like at all the whole switch lifecycle. Yeah. I think it sold fairly well on the DS. Like the movie probably did so well. Then that's when they decided we should probably make another game. What's here. Uh, we got metal gear solid collection volume one confirmed from the Nintendo switch. Interesting. I like it. Also October. Yep. Big October.
00:15:29
Speaker
One of those games that I mean, I feel like when you think of the switch, similar to kind of how people think I like the steam deck now, I guess, but it's just like, it's a games machine, you know, give us all the remakes, just give us all the classics, bundle them all together stuff. So you can just play it, whatever. Yeah.
00:15:51
Speaker
Uh, we got a legend of Zelda tears of the kingdom amiibos. Yippee-ki-yay. I'm sure people will be lining the streets to get these. Some people do. These amiibo people be crazy. They'd be doing it. We got another WarioWare game, which was surprising to me, but WarioWare Move It will bring the micro game party to the Switch this November.
00:16:14
Speaker
Uh, coming November the 6th, 2023, and it's all movement based, Matthew, you're going to be standing. I don't know if you didn't see the direct, but they had, they had the two guys that normally do there and talk about names and they were doing this number. I'm sure they were. I don't think I will be. It'll be a, it seems like this could be very much a lot of chaos considering you're going to have to be moving around so much. Mm-hmm.
00:16:41
Speaker
Mm hmm. Fair enough. Yeah. I guess the last warrior where sold really, really well. So like we need to do another one. Yeah. Yeah. And, and warrior where games are such that they can churn those things out and they have done so in the past. Yeah. Um, so yeah, I guess that's what's, that's what we're doing.
00:17:03
Speaker
Um, and then we got new Pikmin four details and gameplay. That was the one thing that we did know going into this direct. Um, I think it looks good. You can go out at night now. I'm not a Pikmin person at all. So I have nothing to contribute to this.
00:17:22
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, I, I'm not a huge Pikmin person, but, um, I don't mind it. And I think this one looks good. What they showed. I'm in. Um, they also announced HD versions of Pikmin one and Pikmin two that are on this e-shop right now. Yeah. Good games. So if you're interested, go for it. September 22nd is OS physical version. Got it. Got it. Got it.
00:17:48
Speaker
There's also gonna be a demo if you're interested in Pikmin 2. There's going to be a demo for the game that will arrive on June the 28th next week. So if you want to check it out, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, hidden treasure of area zero expansions get a new look. So they got part one and a part two expansion happening. I think it's the same as they did for the last Pokemon games. I think this is the first Pokemon game that I haven't bought.
00:18:16
Speaker
I mean, I bought it, played it, got bugged out, couldn't continue with the game, and I haven't played it since. So there's that.
00:18:26
Speaker
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe adds a new course alongside PD Piranha, Wiggler and Kamek. Kamek? I don't know. It's wave five of the courses. Yeah, wave five. We got Mario Kart Tour levels. We got Mario Kart Double Dash levels. We got our courses. We got it all coming in. Mario Kart 7. How many how many waves did they say there were? Six, eight, nine, eight.
00:18:57
Speaker
It's a lot of waves. I think it was eight. I think it was four. I think it was four a year for two years. Interesting. I think that's right. It's a lot of courses, man. It is. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon remaster announced alongside with a Princess Peach game.
00:19:19
Speaker
The remaster of the 3DS Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and a brand new game starring Princess Peach will be arriving in 2024. We didn't learn much about the Princess Peach game, which appears to be a 2.5D side scroller. You can read our 2013 Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon review to learn more about the game.
00:19:39
Speaker
There you go. I was Luigi's mansion. I think is a cool idea. I just personally never super got into it, but I know a lot of people adore those games. So cool.
Upcoming Game Releases Discussion
00:19:48
Speaker
We got the Mario movie that came out this year, a bunch of Mario games. And now we got, they had to show Luigi cause you know, his main character in the Mario movie. Pete's getting her new game, main character in the Mario movie. So it's going to be Mario year. Right. Vampire survivors will find its way to the switch in August with co-op. Yeah.
00:20:08
Speaker
I'm super excited. I would say outside of Diablo, Vampire Survivors, the game I have played the most this week.
00:20:18
Speaker
So on, uh, on the computer, it's on, it's, it's one of the few games that is really good. That's on, uh, steam for PC and Mac. And so you kind of played them on both and stuff, played on your phone. It's just a game that's way better than it should be. But I can't imagine playing it with co-op. It is utter chaos with one player. I'm excited to play this with co-op that same. That sounds like a blast club chaos. And it says that, uh,
00:20:48
Speaker
I think it said that the update, hold on, let me double check. I think the update for the co-op, yeah, the local co-op will also be added to existing versions of vampire survivors. It'll be a free update on August 17th on PC, Steam Deck, Xbox, and mobile. It's on game pass actually. Yeah. It's really, have you played it all, Andrew? I've watched people play it. Oh man, it's fun. Such a simple game. The only controls in the game are just move.
00:21:19
Speaker
Yep. Love it. Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince announced for the Nintendo Switch. A new game that is set to be released December the 1st that is essentially Dragon Quest meets Pokemon. This new adventure will see Cursed Prince name Sorrow and his friends Rose traveling through a demon realm of Nadiria. Narnia.
00:21:45
Speaker
Narnia and these monsters that they can train will be key to their successful journey. Cool. I like Dragon
Initial Impressions on New Games
00:21:54
Speaker
Uh, Sonic superstars got a new gameplay trailer. We obviously get this announcement during summer game fest, I think. Yep. Yeah. So cool. Yeah. Looks good. I'm pumped. I just wanted to let you know, it's, it's coming in the switch. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I think it honestly probably is best on the switch. If you want me to, like, that's probably where I'm going to go for it for it to make sense handheld.
00:22:17
Speaker
Well, what if I told you the games that everyone was asking for to be put on the switch? Batman Arkham trilogy is coming to the Nintendo switch. I don't think people are asking for it, but the games are so good that they will sell. Sure. This was the weirdest one when I saw it. I was like, this is what we need. Is this what kind of feels like a single person being like, man, I really wished Batman Arkham games were on the kind of feels like this should have been the announcement two years ago.
00:22:45
Speaker
at least, or more. Yeah. Weird. But it's there with all the DLC. And they're great games. Star Ocean, the second story, R, announced for 2023. Yeah, I'm in on this.
00:22:59
Speaker
remake will be arriving November the third, 2023 on switch PS five PS four and PC via steam. But some of the old star ocean games are really good. And I believe this is turn base, right? It is. Yeah. Yeah. I will probably, I'm interested. I'll probably play it. I like it. Looks good. Um, another game that we already knew about, but it's coming to the switch persona five tactic. I got a new gameplay trailer. Uh-huh.
00:23:28
Speaker
So that seems like a Switch game as well. Myth Force brings a Saturday morning cartoon roguelike to Switch 2023. Cool. The trailer for this actually looked cool. So I'm interested to see what it's like when it comes out.
00:23:50
Speaker
Mario plus rabbit sparks of hope. The last spark hunter is set on a musical planet, Matthew. How is DLC? Have you any desire to play? Yes.
00:24:03
Speaker
but not a great desire. Like I had the first one, first Mario rabbits. And it's really fun. It's really good. I enjoy the tactical game style. I just, uh, it's a little, it's a little too easy. That's, I wish it was a little more difficult. That was my issue. So I do have interest, but it's more like a, when it goes on, on mega sale interests.
00:24:25
Speaker
Yeah. So splatoon three's next splat fest, which will take place from July 14 16 will challenge players to choose whether vanilla strawberry or mint chocolate or mint chip is the best flavor ice cream.
Splatoon 3 Splatfest & Game News Discussion
00:24:40
Speaker
Neither one of those are the best flavor. But out of those three, what is the best flavor ice cream?
00:24:46
Speaker
Listen, I love all ice cream. Okay. I'm not an ice creamist. Um, but I would pick strawberry mint, mint chip mint target tip is like one of my top two favorites. So
00:25:05
Speaker
It's a good one. And let me tell you, when you go very rarely do I eat like vanilla ice cream, but when you like go to a party or a birthday thing or something, and there's vanilla ice cream there and you're like, I'll take some vanilla ice cream. It's solid, solid ice cream. Solid. It is. And it's also like, it's good by itself, but it really pairs great with like pie or brownies or any for sure. It's good stuff.
00:25:35
Speaker
Um, I know you can't wait for this next major. Just Dance 2024 will be released on October the 24th. We'll feature 40 songs for you and your loved ones to dance the night away to see jokes on them. I don't have any loved ones. I don't have any friends. Um, Palia is a cozy free to play adventure sim that lets you create the life of your dreams.
00:26:04
Speaker
I'm interested. I don't know that that's going to be good, but I switched this holiday. I find it weird. And maybe you can comment if you're watching on YouTube and know, but I find it weird that it's a free to play game. That's only coming to the switch. And it is interesting, exclusive free to play game, which is weird. So I'm curious if it's coming anywhere else. They just didn't announce it here. Or maybe it's just switch first.
00:26:31
Speaker
I'm interested, I'm interested about it. It's like harvest moon mixed with some other stuff. Like it looks like maybe some, I mean, there's some buildy, like satisfactory kind of vibes to it at points. There's like shooting bow and arrows at people like Fortnite. I don't know. I'm interested.
00:26:52
Speaker
Good suck, but I'm gonna try it. Penny's big breakaway is a new bright and colorful 3d platformer. There you go. It's the team behind Sonic Mania. It is stars Penny and yo-yo and looks to be a wonderful time. If not for it being the Sonic Mania people, I would never think twice about this, but they did such a great job with that game. I feel like whatever this is, it's going to be good.
00:27:19
Speaker
Fae Farm, which we saw also on Summer Game Fest. Fae Farm is a farm sim RPG that is set in a magical world. In addition to growing your farm, you'll also go out and adventure alone or with friends. Fae Farm will be released on September 8th and looks to encourage players to customize their character home, farm, and more to their heart's content. Get those farm sim games and they have a quota every minute to be direct. You got it. Do you need that quota or are you going to talk to the man?
00:27:49
Speaker
Silent Hope sees seven wordless warriors working together to find a reclusive king. Okay. It's an action RPG. Can't dungeon crawly. Gameplay loop will see players go into dungeons, find treasures, and return to the base to grow even stronger before doing it again. Comes out October the 3rd, 2023.
00:28:15
Speaker
Then again, that we talked, I talked with Andrew last week on the podcast. Okay. Which wasn't announced in anything. Cause we were going over our predictions, which, uh, mean you lost just so very bad. I think I ended up with one point. You ended up with zero and Andrew ended up with, no, I had something. I definitely had something. You had things right. But in the category where you could lose points, you lost points. Okay. Fair. That's fair. That's fair.
00:28:42
Speaker
So in Final Score, Andrea had like six, I had one, you had zero. But this was one of the games where it was like, whether or not a battle royale was announced or not.
00:28:53
Speaker
Yes. And this was announced, but it wasn't announced in the showcase until right now. Oh, well, it is a battle royale. If you want me to go back and give you the point, you know, we could have died. But move aside, Fortnite, there's a new battle royale in town, and it's called Head Bangers Rhythm Royale. And this new game, players will fight to be the last bird standing against 29 other players in over 20 musical minigames.
00:29:19
Speaker
Headbangers Rhythm Royale will be released October the 31st, 2023. Move aside, Fortnite. That's so funny.
00:29:30
Speaker
This is what this is a game that I would love to like when it comes out to be like, you know, this game is awesome. Everyone needs. I know. Yeah, for sure. I just found the move aside Fortnite thing funny Fortnite killer. We've been waiting on it. Here it is. Gloom Haven Haven brings the beloved board game of the year. Oh, I don't know. It's going to switch later this year. Board game read the same name to switch. So you obviously know about this.

Oh yeah, I actually, I have a physical copy of it and played it a bunch. And then also I have the same version of it where we play it. Uh, I got a group of friends that we play every, about every other night. It's really cool. I've played. So the physical version of the game, this is like, just to tell people the scope of this game, the physical version of the game.
00:30:18
Speaker
Um, so the idea is you have your mercenaries and you do a mission for whatever. There's a storyline. There's also side missions, right? And as you do certain missions or as you make certain decisions in the game, new missions will unlock or open up. And there may be some things that are closed off. You'll never be able to do those things because you chose a different way or whatever. But.
00:30:43
Speaker
every so often during the game your character who's just a mercenary completes his life personal goal and then when that happens you have to retire that one and you have to make a new character you have to pick one of the classes that are available you start out with six classes available we have and the physical copy of the game probably played 30 or 40 hours
00:31:01
Speaker
probably about 40 hours of that game. And we've unlocked three other classes, boxes that were just new classes we didn't have yet. I still have like, I don't know, seven or eight boxes of classes that I've never opened yet. And I'm not, it says don't open until you unlock it. So it's just a massive game. Huge. Are you gonna play this on the Switch? No. There you go. I have 17 characters and over a thousand abilities to use. Well, that's true.
00:31:31
Speaker
in the other game as well. It's really, it works well as a point and click on the computer. I would imagine, I could be wrong, I would imagine for this to work well on the switch that they would have to do the whole, like you move the mouse with your analog stick. Or if it's touch controls, probably. Maybe that too, yeah. I think it's cool that it's coming here because it is,
00:31:59
Speaker
I mean, I don't know what it is right now on, on BGG, which is board game geek. Uh, it's like Metacritic for board games basically, but it's like, at one point it was the number one game of all time. I think it's still in the top like seven or something. So move over Fortnite. It's phenomenal. And it just had a sequel come out. But Frosthaven, which I hope they come to, um, Oh, we
00:32:25
Speaker
We got a game that looked like Overcooked, but with mechanics, which is exciting. Hopefully maybe manic mechanics is a four player co-op game all about repairing vehicles as fast as possible. Looks exactly like Overcooked. Yeah, I like it. I love the name. Yep.
00:32:47
Speaker
So it comes out July 13th, 2023. That'll be a game that I'm paying attention to. Okay. It can be something that comes to the PlayStation game pass or Xbox game pass at some point. That would be fun to dive into. And then the last one of the day, Hot Wheels unleashed to turbo charge will race onto the switch this October with over 130 vehicles.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 & Wrap-Up
00:33:15
Speaker
Sure. I played this last one hearing that it was good. And I played it for 30 minutes and was like, I don't like this. Um, I'm gonna kind of surprise. I didn't like it, but I did. And that was the Nintendo direct for June, 2023. The surprise one just came out like everyone at tomorrow morning. And then they did it. Um, I thought it was solid.
00:33:42
Speaker
Um, doesn't have the switch anymore, but even if I did have a switch, I'd be like, right. Like the 2d Mario game. Great. Super Mario RPG. Great.
00:33:53
Speaker
Yep. I don't, and there's some DLCs. Yeah. For me personally, it didn't have that home run hitter in there, but it had, it was a lot of solid stuff. Like there were a lot of things that were solid. And for me, there wasn't a whole lot of like, Oh, Nope. Never interested. Oh, Nope. Never. There's a couple of those, but, um, as a lot of things, I was intrigued by, I would have been shocked if we would have seen something giant.
00:34:16
Speaker
And even if they do another direct like in the fall or the winter of this year that unless they're announcing the next console thing I would be shocked if it's very similar because like we'll see the princess peach game and the Luigi's Mansion thing but
00:34:34
Speaker
It's just kind of that, it's just kind of that time where it's like, all right, Zelda is out. Everyone's playing it and everyone's going to play it until the next switch comes out. Yeah. Or whatever their next thing. And then probably still played on that. Exactly. Um, but yeah, good for switch people. Got some stuff to play still. It's not dead just yet. Not yet. Not yet.
00:35:00
Speaker
So that's everything from that. Um, is there anything, any other games, whatever coming out or that you've been playing anyone talk about before we end this podcast? Um,
00:35:13
Speaker
Nothing I could think of. I just been playing, I got a Marvel midnight sons finally, um, on PC. So I've been playing that a little bit. I, uh, uh, was out of town last week. And so I set my PC up here with Marvel midnight sons and actually streamed it to my laptop and just, uh, played it that way remotely while I was going pretty cool. I like it. Um,
00:35:38
Speaker
There's a lot of obviously right now the FTC meeting thing is happening between Xbox and Bethesda and there's a lot of stuff coming out of that that happened today as we're recording. Mm hmm. Man, some old people are just dumb. So I want to say like any time you see something like this where it's like a tech company has to go to like Congress or somebody like that where they are going to ask a bunch of questions, you're just like,
00:36:07
Speaker
Maybe I'll just shouldn't, some of y'all just should've stayed home. Acknowledge that you just don't know and you just stay home.
00:36:16
Speaker
Somebody asked today if they wanted to play a game on Game Pass, did they have to have like a Windows PC code or something like that? It made absolutely no sense, whatever they were trying to ask. It was something. But anyways, yeah, that's going on now. We'll see how that kind of goes and what comes out of it. As for the summer, up until opening night live and even then, I think that's pretty much the bulk of
00:36:46
Speaker
all the crazy video game stuff. So we'll probably do an episode. Unless PlayStation does another one in the next couple of months. There are heavy rumors. And I think I also said this last week or maybe the week before. Heavy rumors that there's going to be another PlayStation showcase around September time, like they did before. But I don't know if those rumors are valid or those rumors are just rumors because the last one was disappointing. So PlayStation people have to be like, oh, well, there's definitely another one coming.
00:37:15
Speaker
Sure, I will say it has been PlayStation's MO from the right before the announcements of the new consoles.
00:37:28
Speaker
to now so far, it has been kind of their MO to let X-Box show their hand and then do their stuff. And so if that's how they're going to do it, then that's just how they're going to do it. And maybe that's the case. Maybe not. I hope we get another one in September. I agree. I do too, but I don't really have a feel on whether we will or not. I just, I hope we do. Yeah.
00:37:52
Speaker
