Speaker: what's up everybody we are waiting on Matthew to get in here he's always late every second of the day um but we are going to be playing some guess the game today um maybe we talked a little bit of news beforehand um for you so you audio listeners have something but uh that's what we're gonna do today over all the clip no gaming's really about Brian
Speaker: what's up everybody welcome to the log on games podcast for those of you unaware as we wait um we started doing we started going live on our youtube and our twitch
Speaker: Um, I don't know a month ago, 5 weeks ago, something like that. Um, so we are consistently going live, uh, between around ish 5, 5, 30. Every Thursday, and we will continue to do that for the foreseeable future.
Speaker: Um, so definitely hop in. If you are listening to this on Spotify or Apple podcast or whatever like that, we are going to be playing guest to game today, which is essentially us getting screenshots, uh, of games. And we have to guess what they are based on the screenshots. Now, if you are an audio listener, that's obviously going to be very difficult for you to understand what the heck is going on. So.

Um, because we had some Neil Druckmann talk today about the next naughty dog game. Now, if I could get to the news, hold on a minute. He's there. He's here.
Speaker: So, Matthew, I am for audio listeners because they're going to not like this episode today, but why? Because we're going to play a game at you playing a game. But today. Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog said, and I quote, quote, I find as soon as I find the quote.
Speaker: I'm eager to see how, talking about his new game, I'm eager to see how this new game resonates, especially following the success of The Last of Us as it could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming. Yes. I don't know what that means, but it sounds like a lie.
Speaker: It sounds like when, um, when, uh, what's the game? The Kojima get a death stranding one came out and everybody's like, what is this game going to be? And he was like, Oh, it's social. And it's all these weird things. Everybody turns out you're just delivering boxes. You know, you're an Amazon delivery guy. Exactly. And the apocalypse.
Speaker: So, I mean, I'm not saying it's not gonna, every time they come out with a game, it pushes everything forward. I think it'll do the same thing, but those wording make it seems like it's going to be some futuristic thing that's never been done before in the history of life.
Speaker: No, I think it's probably going to even further if I had to guess and I'm I'm good with this. I think it's probably going to even further blur the lines of single player story game and watching a movie. It's going to like even even more lean that way would be my guess. And also, I think he said something about like that same quote, something about like blur the lines or whatever he said.
Speaker: Redefined blah, blah, blah, blah. And he said for like, for all ages, which is interesting too, because like you would never recommend a, you know, an eight year old to play the last of us too. Right. That's just not, you would do that for multiple reasons. And so I'm curious what that means. I also talked in that interview saying how AI will change.
Speaker: storytelling and gaming and all this other stuff. I don't think he but I don't think he was referring to as some crazy people out there that hate everything that says A .I. There's been A .I. in video games since the dawn of time. Yes. I think that's what I'm talking about, like the machine learning, the when you see an enemy, they're smart now and not just like a drone that you like. All right. I've seen the same enemy 300 times this game. I know where they're going to throw the grenade like an uncharted perfect grenade throw.
Speaker: Bloop, bloop. Yep. Yep. A hundred percent. And there's some things that make a lot of sense. Like take power world, for example, right? Now they've already said that they didn't use AI like people claim that they did, but if they did, who cares? If I said, yeah, you know, Hey, AI create me 150 Pokemon like creatures.
Speaker: Who's to say you can't do that and then use them or what I would do and what I have used AI for in the past is I'm trying to figure out something, you know,
Speaker: But Ivy and I church, we're trying to figure out, uh, like words or something. It was like, give me. A list of words that means this or whatever. Like my point being, and then you just kind of curate it. My point being, you say, maybe you need 10 different monsters. Hey, AI, give me, give me a hundred different monster options. And then you just pick the 10 you like, or maybe one of those 10 inspires you to, Oh, that's actually a cool idea. I should do this with it instead. Whatever. Use it, man. Go for it. Who cares?
Speaker: Everybody hates new technology when they don't understand it. Well, I do agree with you. AI is not new technology.
Speaker: Well, I mean, new to the normal person, old Sally, that's going to Starbucks and then going to work in LA fitness. You know what I mean? Never heard AI before in her life. And now she just gets on Twitter and it's like, Oh, it's taking over our jobs. Right. Um, but like you said, AI is not anything new. It's the same thing that it has, has been. It's like machine learning and different stuff. It's just, it's gotten to the point where they can call it AI and it's really.
Speaker: Yeah, they did it on the last was part two. Would like them like having names for everybody and like going over and like saying the person's name as they die and then like telling the dogs by name to like go this way and all this kind of stuff. And it was cool. So I think I think that's more of what he's talking about. But all right.

Speaker: Say, I mean, it looks so much safer. OK, yeah, I was thinking Firewatch maybe, but I don't I don't have any conviction in that. We're going to say, oh, does that look like Firewatch to you? Firewatch is mostly during the day, and it's been a long time since I played it. Try it. Firewatch zero hour. Nope. Oh, this is.
Speaker: Okay. Metacritic score of 85. Yeah. Is this outer? X1. Outer. Something. Worlds. Outer Worlds? Outer. Maybe. I don't know. I didn't play it very much. There's one called Outer Worlds. There's one called something else. That was a similar thing. I don't know. This I don't find is super. Outwear. Outwear. I don't find this is super. Um. The outer worlds.
Speaker: I don't know. That looks like Zelda. We're off to a great start. Is that the new Zelda? I haven't played. No, it's not. It's on a bunch of different platforms. I haven't played the new one. This is definitely not so. No, but I know the new Zelda. You can make things. Puzzle. I some people are yelling at us, I'm sure, but I don't know. It looks like is that like odd worldy? No, no.
Speaker: I can. There is a game. It's a game I didn't play. And I can't. I can't think of the name of it. I can tell you that this feels like a game that I have not played. I mean, I know it's not No Man's Sky, but I'm going to just put it down there. No, I don't. I don't know what it would be. At least in 2019. You're in this thing flying around, doing stuff.
Speaker: Yeah, this is a game that I'm going to I'm going to shoot myself in the head whenever they say it, but I'm just going to skip to the end. It's our warm up outer wilds. Why did I just guess outer wilds? I thought outer wilds was like, what's that game? That is like an Xbox game that never comes out and we never know what the game is. So that's what I had no idea. That's that's not one that I knew anything about or had heard over anything. No, it didn't count.
Speaker: That's true. This is the actual real first one. It's the real first one. It's a lot of desert. A lot of desert. I can be a racing game. Red Dead. Red Dead. I don't think it's true. Red Dead Redemption 2. Only when I played.
Speaker: Metacritic score 89%. It's a good game. I don't even know. I can still think it's rented. I don't know. Oh, gosh, I didn't play ghost. I don't remember there being a desert in goes. Maybe I'm wrong. His four man is looks good. Is this the this looks good? Could it be?

Speaker: I don't know. Let's try it. A thief's end. Action RPG. It is Horizon. I see it in the background. I haven't played. I think unless they're saying that this is. The whole Horizon series to me. We did it. The whole Horizon series to me is a series that looks like something I would be into, but for whatever reason, I have no interest.
Speaker: I've tried to play it a couple of times. I mean, it sounds like gangbusters every time they come out. It does. I feel like I should at some point play it, but it's something and, you know, PS plus. So, yeah. Hey, we did one. We got one. This is a new game. It's got to be. I'm not going to have a guess. This is going to be an old Blue Castle game.
Speaker: I don't know what it would be. I mean, not just from this. Pick a Castlevania. Yeah, so I was thinking. Dawn of Sorrow. Good game. Although this is old old. Metacritic did not exist yet, but probably 100 percent. Yeah, this is this is going to be before us, bro.

Speaker: Hmm. I can zoom in like this. That is not helpful for this one. This is not going to be right, but I'm going to put it. I'm just going to. Speaker: I play control. I'm pretty sure 95. Is this a last of us deal? I don't know what that first one would be from. Maybe again, there's only so many games have 95. So, you know, it's a good game. Yeah, I don't think it would be. PC PS3 Xbox 360. So we're thinking we're in the third party world.

Speaker: Art of it looks familiar, but in some cases, like I thought like maybe. I don't know what makes sense for PS3 360. Some sort of post -apocalyptic something. Could be like a Call of Duty game where they use these worlds, isn't it? Or are they just, you're not running around playing? Could be, I just don't know what Call of Duty game we get at 95. That's true. That's true.
Speaker: Oh, my goodness. Is this like a Gears game? No Gears would be on PS3. I would guess like Black Ops or something. That's that's the right era, right? You're a modern warfare. Yeah. Worth a shot. What the heck are we looking at now? It's a puzzle game. Is this Portal?
Speaker: No portals much more inside of it now in a building kind of thing. This would be tube Tube game. It's very like mist looking but it's not missed Thing is I didn't really get into playing a lot of puzzle games until after my 360 ps3 days. I

Speaker: To be fair, I played the crap out of Portal 1, never touched Portal 2, which I heard was great. So I should play it. I honestly... You could see the little bot down there on the box now. If you would have asked me, yeah, if you would have asked me when Portal 2 came out, I would have said like 2017. Like I wouldn't have come close to 2011. So hey, great job, guys. Great job, Portal. Speaker: The first experience that Andrew and I had with portal was the portal song on rock band. It's true. Oh, this feels like. Solsy. Yeah, the clauses. Good old shadow of the sea. Pro gamers, pro gamers, pro gamers. Have you played that?

The reason I thought hot shots and then I didn't even think Mario golf is one because the girl at the beginning looked like a hot shots character and not like you're not in Mario. So I thought you and then this that second picture did not make me think Mario golf. But there we go. We were at least they had the golf part, right? Got a golf part. Speaker: I would guess like the Spyro, Jak and Daxter, like something of that ilk, but I don't really I don't feel confident in that at all. I think it's just J .A .K. I think it's J .A .K. I haven't played, but I mean. What are we doing with our lives if we're not just the masters of this game? Yeah. Fun fact. When Emily first moved out, we were dating. She moved into a household with a bunch of other girls.
Speaker: And I worked at Best Buy at the time and so I got a crazy discount. So I bought a PlayStation for Christmas one year. As one does when you're, we've probably been dating for like three years or something. Like here, play video games. You can do it.
Speaker: So what does she do without telling me or acknowledging anything? One day she goes to GameStop and she gets bloodborne and then she comes back. And so I come over and she's like, I got bloodborne. I was like, that's the worst possible game you could pick to try and get into video games. I was like, what? And then she played the opening for about an hour and never got past the first room. And I mean, that's literally like saying, I think I'm going to try to get better and take up basketball. Okay, cool. Well, one on one, Michael Jordan, and then we'll see what you think about it.
Speaker: I'm going straight to the NBA for him not even playing. Okay, cool. Ooh, this looks familiar. This might could be a racing game as well. Could be a racing game. I was looking at that tower on the right. Is this one of the ghost recon's that we played? It feels newer. There's some ghost recon's that we played that were newer though, that big open world ones, you know what I mean?
Speaker: I didn't play them, but they did. I'm putting in the newer ones. I mean, I'm talking about like. Well, I'm going to go three constants. If you put you type 15 years ago, it goes records. Great points, one of the newer ones.
Speaker: I think mine is the one is the one that you and I and Colby played. That's what this looks like. You and Colby played one, but I did not play. Let's try frontline. Sounds good. It's not. It's got to be a racing game. Ninety two. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's got Horizon probably. Now there's a couple of them. It's the newest one, right? No, no, no, no, don't guess that's a bad guess.

I was like five is fours of five is not the newest fours horizon. I'm going to be honest. I thought there was like three of those games. I didn't know there was five. All these games I'm getting, I haven't played. I thought I played Horizon five for like 30 minutes. It's about enough. Oh, that's an interesting movie.
Speaker: Makes me think of world of goo, but I don't think that's it. I could put it. I mean, you could. This is probably like one of those, like limbo kind of things that I didn't play, but I know it looks kind of like this ish. Oh, it's not looking. What? An eight is very different score. Yeah.
Speaker: I would have guessed limbo if the second picture was anything different. Well, guess Rick. This is going to feel like this is straight like forever after. Nope. Some kind of platformer that I don't know what it is from X bucks 360. Okay. Not what I think of for platformers.
Speaker: Definitely was not playing platformers on the 360. Is there like a, I don't even know. Um, I am not. Oh, that's yeah. It's a good enough guess. Sure. Bomberman. Bomberman or blast. Bomberman 360. That'd be great.
Speaker: Um Okay, so you're the little things and you're getting It kind of it kind of looks like one of those like I know it says 360 but like one of those PC games is like hardest game ever saying and you really just trying to like yeah No, it kind of gives me like the last oh, is this um, I think I might know I think I might know that super meat boy

Speaker: Is this a MMO? It's an action RPG. Oh, yeah. Hmm. Could this be like? I'm trying to look at the UI. No, that's that UI is not Skyrim, is it? I don't know. And Skyrim came out for a heck of a lot of systems. This is just 360 and PC.
Speaker: You know, I mean, it could be the original Skyrim. I don't know how many or maybe it's just like Elder Scrolls. Yeah, you could try that. Yeah. Try one of the what's the one before. Knights of the Nine. Shivering Eye. Oh, this are Oblivion. Oblivion. Bang. Oh, nice. I haven't played Oblivion. Bang. I thought Skyrim at first or earlier, like a couple of slides ago, I was like, there's no way it's on a billion systems.
Speaker: Yeah, I wonder if it counts like Skyrim remake or if it's called like Skyrim. Who knows? I don't know if Oblivion's on other stuff, so I'm not sure. Fire. Fire. What is that? What does the sign say? Hmm. Hmm. Oh.
Speaker: What game has fire? Where is this? So I'm just putting this out there. I never played it, obviously. This is like Deathloop to you or like something graphically like that. Maybe. I don't if this is Deathloop, I don't recall this part. I'd be I played that game all the way through. Love that game is phenomenal. I can see it being part of that. What's the other game that's like that?
Speaker: The same people make it. Redfall? No. I don't know about that. That's the graphic style that I'm feeling. Right. But the who makes the other game that the the people that made death would make, they make this to dishonored. Just doesn't make me think dishonored, though. I don't know. You could try. Speaker: We got a little orc man with some horns and a gun of some kind. And lots of blood on the ground behind the orc man. Lots of blood! I think these games make orcs more violent, you know. What the heck, bro -ham? Land of the orcs.
Speaker: Yeah, that's a good guess why not pick one of those Vermintide Vermin is an orc is there like land of the orcs Total war hammer three sounds good
Speaker: Oh, it's, um, is this a, um, in the profit, something to the people and the profit shell, something, the people to the new world. I think this feel that to me makes me think of bio shock, but the other two pictures. I see it doesn't maybe, maybe it is PCS three and 360.
Speaker: Uh, infinite, maybe. Infinite get a 94. I don't know. It's probably close. The profit part, but, uh, that, those are good, two good pictures. Cause those two pictures do not give away. Hey, this looks like infinite. Phenomenal game though. Can't wait for Nate. It had orcs in it. Who knew? Sure. What?
