Breaking News & Uncertainties

00:00:02
Speaker
What's up, everybody? Welcome to the Logon Games Podcast. We just had some freaking news drop as we were recording this. We got some, oh, we got Raffle back in here, too. We got some Grand Theft Auto release date. We got some Summer Game Fest announcements of things that we're going to see. NCAA football is coming back. Games canceled. I don't know. I don't know what all we're going to talk about because some news dropped. But either way, we're going to do our little jig. Jig it up. No gaming's really about Brian.

Audio Mix-Up & Guest Banter

00:00:48
Speaker
What's up, everybody? Welcome to the Long Hand Games podcast. If only you guys could see what we do. I mean, they're seeing like the remnants of it on my side. Oh, my gosh. Hold on. Rebecca Black, welcome. I had my I looked at my phone and the audio switched over to my head to sick of it. Oh, so we can say things about them then.
00:01:15
Speaker
No, I can hear you. Oh, I was going to say you're a very nice person. Thanks. Thanks. Scott Pilgrim here with me today. Look, don't remind us of the free tattoo that you didn't tell us. I know why I still can't believe you would do that to us. I haven't forgotten, bro.
00:01:33
Speaker
I actually was talking to me about that like a month ago. I didn't realize I was going to be walking into a toxic. Yeah, you can't, man. I hate tattoos. Come on. With us today on the show, you can find him over at the 7-Eleven work in the streets. Typical. I'm just kidding. We have brown boy with us on podcast at Brown Berserker. Andrew.

Favorite Gas Station Snacks

00:02:07
Speaker
What's your go-to item at 7-Eleven, Andrew? Wow, I don't know. Well, let's just say gas station. Like, if you're on a road trip, you walk into a gas station. Oh, yes. What's your go-to item? We're talking about food again. Well, yeah, I usually go to drinks first, and then if it's food, I'm hoping I can get a hot dog, to be honest.
00:02:30
Speaker
You know the revolving heat thing? Oh, of course. Whatever's in there. I'm scouting. I'm scouting in there. I used to do that. I used to get the big taquitos that were in there. Yep. I've definitely done that. You can find him over on... I don't know.
00:02:57
Speaker
Robert Jefferson Boulevard. I don't know. I'm off. I'm off today. Who is Rob Jefferson? He's he's a guy. You know, he just gave away the guy. He's just a guy you can find. How about this? You can find him farming checkpoint one warlords ruin at my waffles. We got Carlos with us today.
00:03:29
Speaker
That's what I did all last night. That's why I said that. What? Just the first encounter. Yes, because. Indetic kindness, bro. You just. Man, that crab don't. He knows. Yeah, it does. You have to do. You have to do 10 runs to get one to drop. That's not true. That's your bad luck, bro. I've gotten like five mistakes of them. Yeah, I probably did 10 or 11 runs last night. He says that he's got like five.
00:03:55
Speaker
I got volt shot. I'm happy. I got volt shot. So I got a better one. Yeah, you know, like I'm happy with it. A better one. Final shapes coming up, man. We got to get ready. They're nerfing all of our guns now. Oh, yeah, I saw that. Yeah.
00:04:10
Speaker
Carlos, what's your go to item? It's funny, dude, because I have on the weekends. It's delicious little poison darts. Yeah, like during it. So I don't drink a lot of energy drinks during the week and I kind of limit my caffeine if I'm like at the office. But on the weekends.
00:04:31
Speaker
You know, I stayed up late on Friday. It's Saturday. Wife and I want to go somewhere. I got to stop at a gas station. I got at least get an energy drink. And then I'm at QT. You know, I'm going around a little tequito area because they got all these different types. They have this one thing. It's one of the most interesting things. It's like a buffalo chicken thing, but it's like in a shape of like a hot dog almost. Sorry. Sorry. It's in the shape of a glizzy.
00:04:58
Speaker
And, but it's chicken and it's kind of got like a Buffalo, it kind of looks like it's coated in Cheeto dust, but it's actually like a Buffalo, like a fried Buffalo chicken type thing. It's got a little bit of cheese inside of it, but dude, I think I've had this. It's, it's so delicious and I can eat like a million of them. They're really good. If you go to QT, look for an orange fried hot dog. It's actually chicken and it's got Buffalo stuff on it and it's really good.

Podcast Insights & Summer Game Fest

00:05:27
Speaker
Also with us on the podcast, you can find him at the magical brick wall with a thing. Matthew, stick your hand in whatever's behind you. It's real. That's how that's how he goes. The hog helps open that wall. It's that wall back there. It's that wall back there. You can find him at X user. We have Matthew with us on podcast.
00:05:53
Speaker
See, I actually had a better chance of saying that I'm coming to you from 7-Eleven because I spend about 20 bucks at 7-Eleven every week. That's no joke. Well, in that case, what is your go-to gas station? Well, I eat, I grab lunch from there, mostly. So there's a 7-Eleven, like when you walk out of the front door of our church, the first thing you see is a 7-Eleven right there across the street.
00:06:14
Speaker
It's like right there and it's super convenient. So when we're working at the church or doing whatever, it's like a quick. I usually go grab like a burger or two or like a chicken sandwich, chicken sandwich, like their chicken sandwiches and burgers for three dollars a piece are way better than they should be for three bucks at a 7-Eleven. They're not like phenomenal burgers, but they're like not bad, pretty good. They should make one of them seven dollars, one of them eleven dollars. They better be really good if it's going to be that expensive.
00:06:43
Speaker
I go there often enough that I use the rewards app every time I go. No one for seven, two for eleven. There you go. And that's a really that's seen. I'm going for the eleven every time. That's a good deal. Alex trademarked that recently. They've had like deals where you can get like like a hot dog and a drink for like three dollars. So good. OK. And that's like you can't beat it.
00:07:10
Speaker
Costco can though, apparently, but you have to have a membership. You do have to have a membership. Sure. But the neighborhood that our trip, no, you don't. Oh, wow. But the neighborhood that we're in is like a very, um, there's like no chains of anything in our neighborhood. It's like a very kind of like activist neighborhood and they want to keep all the chains out and it's all like local chains, which means everything's 20 bucks to eat. If you want to eat anywhere, seven 11 is like the easy. Let's break the chains. I remember a huge step foot there.
00:07:39
Speaker
I remember growing up in South Georgia and there was a really nice neighborhood. It was an area, it was a nicer area and they put a McDonald's there and the neighborhood protested it for the longest time. I'm like, are you kidding me? Like if I lived in that neighborhood, I get to ride my bike and go just grab McDonald's like, come on, like this is a win.
00:08:03
Speaker
there were no kids in that neighborhood protesting it i'll say that so i i don't want to be that guy guys but i have oh here he goes here he goes i used to go for the glizzy i used to go for the pizza i used to go for the taquitos but now
00:08:21
Speaker
Typically, when I'm on the road, I'm just like, I don't want to get I've had too many bad glizzy in my day. So now I'm just like, I'm a fruit cup guy. I'm a bananas guy. I'm a respectable guy. You went the healthier route. That's, you know, I mean, the bold checks mixed bag, though, is a man. It's a long way. You get a little brand. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
00:08:50
Speaker
I saw the other day in there that I immediately went, you know what, 7-Eleven, I love you and you've done a lot of good things. What are we doing here? And I don't know if this is a 7-Eleven thing or if this is an everywhere thing. They had Oreos that were apparently the flavor of Sour Patch Kids. That doesn't even sound like a good idea. What kind of combination is that? I don't understand.
00:09:13
Speaker
I don't get it. I don't get it. Well, try it. Try it. Get it and save it to the podcast next week and try it live on. Oh, life. That's pretty good. That's what I told Nicole. I was like, this does not sound like it would be good, but I feel like I should buy it because I'm curious enough. Yeah, I think we should all go to 7-Eleven next Wednesday. Find them and buy them and then try them on the show.
00:09:40
Speaker
And then just that's the whole show. Does it matter if we do our show on Thursdays?
00:09:45
Speaker
Hey, yo, why Wednesday? First of all, we're going to be available next Wednesday. You got to go out. You know, yo, I got room. You might forget about it. Another chair, bro. You might forget. I see Wednesday. He said Wednesday. We're not going to be available Wednesday. We'll do it from Radio City Musical. Who cares? There's a mobile app. There's a mobile app. Jeez.
00:10:14
Speaker
Um, we want to welcome everybody to the Log on Games podcast. This is a weekly show where your host discuss a variety of gaming news topics from new games, big announcements, events, and more new episodes upload every Thursday. Now I need to change that. Let me just do this live on the show because why not? We're professional.
00:10:34
Speaker
Um, we are now Thursdays. What about like Spotify and Apple music? And so I typically, and I say typically cause this is, I don't know, like the third or fourth week we've done this. Um, it usually takes maybe 30, 45 minutes, something like that for the audio to like be fully functional and downloadable on here.
00:10:56
Speaker
So I usually just, we in the stream, I go get food, I come back, I download the audio and just upload it. So it's usually up like an hour after the stream. So if you don't want to miss it, you can watch this every Thursday around 5.30 usually on our YouTube channel, youtube.com slash at logon games or over at twitch.tv slash at or slash logon games.
00:11:23
Speaker
So either our YouTuber, Twitch, we go live. If you are listening on podcast platforms, it'll be live, usually around seven o'clock ish on Thursdays. So if you want to listen to us on Fridays, this could be me just realizing this and being dumb, but log on again. Sorry, I'm adjusting my camera because it's pointing at my ceiling a lot that the acronym for log on games, it's L.O.G. And I just like.
00:11:51
Speaker
My mind was just blown just now. We used to call our listeners the logs. Yeah, they're still logs. They're the logs. You can also random, I'm sorry, but it made me think of it with the log thing. Have you seen the, it's old now, the bad lip reading, the lip reading song with the Star Wars, like Yoda dancing around singing different stuff? Maybe.
00:12:17
Speaker
Uh, it's quite hilarious, but there's one line in there that I've never forgotten and he just starts talking. He says he it's like he saw this, he saw this log or saw this tree that fell over and he picks it up and he saw a little stick underneath it. And I thought that log had a child.
00:12:33
Speaker
That's so stupid. Every time we talk about the logs, that's what I think of. It's so dumb. One day we'll make merch that just says, I'm a log and it has our logo on it. And then they'll be like, what's going on here?
00:12:50
Speaker
You can also follow us at Logon Games on all the social platforms if you want to know exactly when we're going live. Sometimes the posts, most of the time I do, did I forget today? Yes I did, but that's okay. So we got some topics

Game Revelations & Speculations

00:13:03
Speaker
of the shows, but then before we went live we got some somewhat breaking news.
00:13:09
Speaker
I'm reading from our, from Twitter, summer game fest, Twitter, they tweeted out all the 2024 partners, they said round one, but it seems like all the big ones, people that are going to be here, let me hear, let me just know y'all can find it script.
00:13:34
Speaker
But then they also did some announcements, the biggest one being they announced Grand Theft Auto 6's release window has been narrowed to fall of 2025. What was it? It just said 2025. They didn't have a month, but because also there was like a didn't wasn't it like a delay or something that was people were saying was there's an internally rumored, a rumored delay, which and there could have been a delay within 2025. We just wouldn't know because we just know it was right.
00:14:04
Speaker
So what this actually means is that it'll be out spring of 2026, possibly summer. Yeah. I was like, does this mean anything to anybody? Like, really? Smart. To me, it's just I mean, I've said it a million times on this podcast. If they some if there's a game announced and it's longer than six months out, I just assume it's going to be too late because 90 percent of the time is delayed. The exception being like Alan Wake to last year. That's about it.
00:14:29
Speaker
Yeah. And certain companies, there's certain companies when they say a date, you're pretty sure they're going to at least get close to it, but not very many. Yeah. So, I mean, I don't know. To me, this is like definitely 2026. They also announced that they say 2K plans to reveal the next iteration and one of 2K's biggest and most beloved franchises at Summer Game Fest on Friday, June the 7th.
00:15:00
Speaker
Do we have any ideas what this might be? My assumption is Bioshock. That's kind of been rumored for a bit. It's been a long time since we had a Bioshock game. Was Infinite the last one? There's been some buzz on that. I'm not sure. And by the way, just with it going around like there's actually being some cool video game TV shows that are out. Bioshock is one that if it was done well would be. I would love to see a Bioshock show.
00:15:28
Speaker
if it was done well, yeah. Yeah, if it was done well. I'm with you on that one. That's my games. I'm looking on their website. That's my games. Borderlands, it could be another Borderlands. But I don't feel like they would say 2K. I feel like they would say Gearbox probably. 2K just loves it. Well, Borderlands, though, feels like the way that it was worded makes it sound like this is a game that
00:15:54
Speaker
It's been highly anticipated. Like people have wanted to hear it, haven't heard from a while kind of thing. Oh, yeah. That's it. I mean, could it really be just a load of BS and it just be the next NBA 2K game? Maybe such a slap in the face. Um, yeah, because what borderlands borderlands has a show coming, right? Isn't there like, are the stills to movie?
00:16:18
Speaker
Movie. Yeah. We have Mafia. Maybe it's a mafia game. XCOM. Civilization, but I think they just can't. I guess they said most most beloved franchise. RE9. Hear me out. NFL 2K. Nope.
00:16:46
Speaker
Yeah, I think of the new market I'm seeing on their list. I feel like it has to be like it has to be Bioshock in some form. That was my gut. That was my gut feeling at first, for sure. I mean, they could bring back, like I said, one of the sports ones. They can always, you know, go back to MLB or an NFL game or something like that. But my my hunch was just the Bioshock deal. Who did the NBA and NFL streets games?
00:17:13
Speaker
EA EA. Yeah, because EA Street, it was like they've had they've had a shoot of them and a fell street game remembered for a while. But they also announced, like I said, they announced their 2024 partners, just a bunch of logos of everybody that will be involved or they'll show off something on the summer game fest. Any of these stick out to you guys, there's one that sticks out to me for
00:17:39
Speaker
I don't know why, but they have Blumhouse Games, which Blumhouse is a TV studio that does horror movies. I was going to say, it's how they do horror. Yeah. So. You say your friend. It's a horror frame frame. I'm intrigued on that one. I'm exactly what that might be. Yeah, it could be a VR title or something like that. Could be based on a movie. It feels like it could go the route of. Oh, my gosh, what are those games? The. Paint here in that game.
00:18:09
Speaker
Oh, yeah, until dawn stuff until like that style. We do have meta in there, so maybe it's like that. We have we do have PlayStation. We do have Xbox.
00:18:27
Speaker
We have Niantic in there. Really? What's in there? I mean, what's the last game that they did, Monster Hunter? Oh, yeah, the Monster Hunter game. Yeah. And then Pokemon. It was previous. Maybe maybe they'll like bring Ingress back or something. That was I could get time. Apparently. Oh, yeah. The phone. No, Mike is having a time right now. Let me just tell you.

Destiny Raid & EA Sports Announcements

00:18:59
Speaker
Um, embark, what is it? Is this nine language? Embark games, what? Is that who I think it is? Oh, no, that's the people that did the finals. When you were talking about Niantic, did they do the there was a Harry Potter like Pokemon? Yeah, that was a while ago. OK, OK. That was quite some time ago. Same formula, kind of just different skin. Niantic is really good about doing their AR based geo based games.
00:19:28
Speaker
Yeah. Epic Games will be in there. SNK, Sega, Riot Games. Ubisoft, which speaking of Ubisoft, canceled the division Heartland. Yeah, I saw that. So who cares, really? Because as someone who's a big fan of the division, when we when we watched that stream, man, did it just not look good to me. I forgot about it.
00:19:58
Speaker
And also like, it's interesting for them to be there given all of the dumb decisions that they're making lately. Yeah. WB Games is going to be there, which I don't think we've talked about on the podcast. They announced a... Was it like Batman? Yeah, they announced a new Batman game. The VR one. In the Arkham universe, but it's a VR game.
00:20:25
Speaker
So I guess we'll get to see gameplay or exactly what that game is. They did make a Batman VR, a very, very short Batman VR game when the PS VR OG came out, and it was one of the better games. So I know this is on meta. I don't know. I don't think it's been announced for PS VR 2 because who cares at this point? But it's definitely coming to Metaclos 3. It might be an exclusive. Not sure.
00:20:53
Speaker
But we'll see, we will, it is May the 16th, Summer Game Fest is June the 7th, which is a Friday, which today the raid comes out in Destiny, which for those listening is a big deal for three of us. So Matthew might just be doing it by himself. There's no reaction. You know, is my mic working now? Can you hear me? Nope. I think it's, is it USB? Can you try reconnecting the cable? I mean, I'll try.
00:21:25
Speaker
Poor guy sounds so defeated. He's so defeated. Mike has defeated him today. No fun for you. But we'll figure that out. Maybe, you know, I mean, Summer Game Fest stream is usually pretty beefy too. It's usually like two, two and a half hours long. What day is that again? Friday, June the 7th. Now, here's my thing. I want to get on like a tiny, tiny thing here because I don't want to talk about Destiny too long.
00:21:55
Speaker
But I, as someone who's going to be leaving for a couple months the following week, am happy that the raid is three days after the campaign drops, when the expansion drops. But, I mean, we've gone through many an expansion before.
00:22:14
Speaker
What are the odds that everything even works day one? You know, like I'm expecting not only day one, they want to just day one of the expansion, like the first 24 hours. It's going to be garbage. If we can't even if we're getting booted out of the campaign, are they going to move the rate date? Because you are. That's a good point. Two days in before we can even like do anything.
00:22:34
Speaker
Yeah, like you won't be getting into destiny until at minimum 7 11 p.m. You're being generous. No, but what if what if it is like for a couple of days? It's rough. Do they push the raid then at that point?
00:22:53
Speaker
I hope so, and then I can do the raid. Hey, I'm really, please break, please break on lunch. Andrew's like, no. Oh yeah. Cause you're going on, are you going on tour like the weekend? Like the raid is the seventh. I'll probably leave on the ninth or the 10th. So.
00:23:10
Speaker
I'll at least be able to be a part of it, hopefully. But if they if they push it, you know, who knows? They already got a warlock. It's good, bro. That's what's going to be weird about about trying to like coordinate the day one raid team is because like that might not even be guaranteed. That's true. Yeah. Yeah. It's like it's the expansion going to work day one. And then also is the raid going to work day one? So many questions.
00:23:36
Speaker
Um, all right. Let's get into some of Carlos's and Andrew's favorite topic of sports. Yeah. You've seen the thumbnail and it's been a long, long time, but we have I'm going to read this from GameSpot.com. Do it. At long last, the world is getting another college football game. EA Sports College Football 25, which is a new name as well, releases on July the 19th.
00:24:05
Speaker
featuring three cover athletes, Donovan Edwards, Quinn Ewers, and Travis Hunter. More details about the game are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. The fans excited to dive back into... Is he a Hunter main? ...can pre-order EA Sports College Football 25 now. Three versions are up for grabs, the most expensive version. Bundling the upcoming game with Madden NFL 25, of course they do. Making it a great choice for rabid football fans.
00:24:37
Speaker
That's correct answer EA sports 25 will be available for ps5 and Xbox series X and s So no old No, no ps4. No PC. None of that only the true
00:24:57
Speaker
Oh, this is a PS5 game. The numbers came out that at Q1 of 2024, the PS5 outsold Xbox five to one. So let's be easily easily. There's pre-order bonuses better now. Yep, it is normal. Cool.
00:25:14
Speaker
How long has it been once the last? Actually, I was just going to say I was just going to talk about it because I think they did not do a very good job with the whole cover athlete thing. First off, I actually do. I know the reason they did it previously was because of, you know, they couldn't advertise whatever that no NIL exists and everything. So they always the person on the cover was someone who had just graduated and gone pro and.
00:25:39
Speaker
It was them and their college uni still, right? But I actually do kind of think that that makes a little bit more sense. Like, I don't know, like it would make a lot of sense if Caleb Williams was the number one as the number one overall. Well, they have there is. OK, never mind. It's still the same three players. I thought I may have done something for like the we've talked about it, I think, on the podcast. I know other people have for like the deluxe edition, like making a graphic that's like
00:26:07
Speaker
All the players that probably would have or some of the greats since the last NCAA football game came out, but 100% they didn't listen to our ideas. So I would have bought it. They also, they also pick one of their three players as Donovan Edwards, which yes, his team did just win the championship, but not because of him. And he also had less than five. He's a running back who had less than 500 yards rushing in the whole season last year, but it's about the upcoming season. Sounds like a bench warmer.
00:26:38
Speaker
They're they're trying to do the reverse of the Madden curse and they're trying to whoever they put on is it's like the best season ever. So they have seven. They could have just put Saban on it and it would have made sense. He just retired and everything. That's what it is like Madden. They'll do like the cover athlete and then their deluxe edition. They'll put like Barry Sanders or somebody crazy. Yeah.
00:27:02
Speaker
See, Andrew, you don't even know. What do you mean? In their ultimate team where you get the cards and the packs and you put your team together and they'll do Hall of Fame players and they'll do old players. Some years they've done players from different sports and put them in. Oh, for real? Yeah, they put NBA players in there.
00:27:27
Speaker
freaking safeties or whatever. You know what they need to do is they need to they need to go back to the old NBA jam route and codes would have like celebrity stars like why not you know remember NBA jam you want to be Bill Clinton put the code in and put the buttons right and you could be Bill Clinton out there playing basketball. You uh you could have been Snoop Dogg was in there one time as a QB we have a uh uh twitch as a barber I love
00:27:57
Speaker
I love this. It is the perfect evolution of beardgrass. So it's like, it's like white bread to me, to wheat bread.
00:28:14
Speaker
Yeah, I was very shocked jumping on and seeing. I was like, something's different. I was running slow and I needed to get a little faster. I just want to be a little more aerodynamic. My wife went out of town last weekend and so I basically shaved it all off because I was tired of it itching.
00:28:35
Speaker
She hates when I shave so I have to like my wife she beats me guys so Yeah, we heard it firsthand Y'all heard two people in here heard my wife singing the national anthem last stand-up comedy beating
00:28:54
Speaker
That's great It was quite something. All right, so we have the normal $70 version. We have the $100 version which comes with three days early access 4,600 college football points Highsman hopeful ultimate team. So they're gonna have ultimate team. Yeah, what is essentially yes? All ultimate team back cover athlete ultimate team back
00:29:23
Speaker
Bring glory home ultimate team uniform. So ultimate team. I'm glad you said home there. I know. I was like, oh, yeah. Well, bring glory ultimate team. The next edition. Yeah.
00:29:41
Speaker
right right so yeah ultimate team confirmed and the 4600 points makes a lot of sense that's what they do with uh i was gonna say fifa but whatever ea fc now their jumbo thing is the same thing it's 4600 uh points the currency fc points i think so they call
00:30:00
Speaker
I don't know whatever it's called. So is that like something where like if there's a season you can earn enough to pay for it already or do you like actually have to pay money? No it is. Man this isn't ESL bro. If you've played Madden or FC it's the exact same thing so it is it is currency that you can buy packs with that will have players in them that you
00:30:25
Speaker
build your team with the play and their ultimate team mode, right?

I assume it's going to be the same as Madden where it's like their college football points is like, that's the micro transaction stuff. And then they have like coins or whatever. That's like the normal thing. Like you do a, you do like a challenge or a mission or you play a game, you'll get a certain amount of coins for it. And you can buy packs and players with coins, but usually they give you like, like if you played a whole game, you'll have enough coins to buy a,
00:30:54
Speaker
Glizzy, 7-11. That's got it. I know, right? I mean, quite literally. So the game that I've played the most over this last week is EAFC, right? And that's because they put it up on PlayStation Plus game of the month or whatever. So I was like, score. I love it. Let's play a game of the month.
00:31:12
Speaker
um and so and about so i uh i've downloaded and play now's a good time of the year to play because ultimate team is like to the point where you're over halfway through their yearly cycle so there's just like a billion good cards you can find they start giving things away cheaper and and
00:31:29
Speaker
whatever anyways But there are so many good packs up on the store marketplace Like there is a there's a pack that's been up this week that you can pay. I think it's for I think it's 4,500 Of their FC. What does that equate to what is 40? $4,600 in or 4,600 points and so I
00:31:51
Speaker
You get a discount the more you buy. So it's like you buy, you know, once you hit, I think it's 1600 points, something like that. Then you start getting like, uh, 10, 10% extra points because you spent that much money. Right. Kind of thing. I think 4,600 is 50 bucks. I'm pretty sure. That's always how they get you to because you'll buy stuff and then are purposely not be enough to get something. Yes. You're actually a hundred percent. Yeah. Right. And you can buy a hundred points for a dollar.
00:32:22
Speaker
That's what it is. Nine, nine cents for 100 points. But then once there's probably nothing for 100 points, is there? It's like, oh, you're short 100 points. Well, here's nothing that you would want. Nothing that's worth it. You can buy bronze packs and stuff, but no, those are not cards. But but the reason I was saying is like they have this this pack. So it's 4,500 points or 750,000 coins. The coins are what you earn by playing the game, right?
00:32:47
Speaker
realizing that if I go on there and I slap somebody up and I beat them eight to two, I'm going to get about 800 coins. It's like that is so many coins that you would have to have to buy that back. It's ridiculous. Legally, they're like, we'll make it so you can earn it, but you're going to have to grind your life away to get it.
00:33:10
Speaker
And and I don't know if you had this on your list of talk were you going to talk about the eafc stuff today and or not the Stuff going on. Well, there is we'll see what happens because ea so the soccer world is like something like 70 of ea's revenue comes from the fifa or whatever from that ultimate team mode on eafc, which is Ridiculous considering they made I think I think their 2020
00:33:38
Speaker
March is the end of their fiscal year and they made like 5.5 billion was what their revenue was this past year 70% of that was through their soccer game or close to 70 So, I mean we don't have to get into all of it You can go down the rabbit hole look and there's so so many of I'm still gonna call them FIFA creators I know the game's not called FIFA anymore, but everybody still calls it FIFA so there's so many of these FIFA creators on YouTube there that
00:34:05
Speaker
EA has just done such a crappy job with their game where the gameplay is like, OK, but never gets fixed and never gets better. The menus are terrible this year. Yeah, that's how it is on Madden. The menus are always like holy moly. They're so bad. It's not like the UI looks bad or whatever. It's just like they're so slow. And if you're doing menu stuff like organizing your team, buying packs, whatever, those kind of things for more than like five minutes.
00:34:30
Speaker
At some point, you're probably going to get kicked out and have to dashboard and restart the game. It's so bad. What? That's weird. It's awful. And so honestly, all these creators have come together now, like literally the top creators. I think Nick Run the Foot Market is the name of a guy on YouTube, whatever, who's a pretty big YouTube FIFA creator. And us. And us.
00:34:53
Speaker
He does FIFA stuff and and he's kind of spearheading this thing and talking to a bunch of the top creators and put out a tweet and kind of got a lot of them on board. But they're basically like, look, we play this game for our livelihood. That's how I that's how they make a living. I'm going to keep playing the game. But not only am I going to stop spending FIFA points, I'm going to encourage all of my, you know, Twitch watchers, all my people watching YouTube. Hey, play the game. Have fun. Do not spend money on points. Don't do it. Yeah.
00:35:19
Speaker
And so there's like a boycott of sorts set it out because until until they get hurt in the wallet a little bit, it's not going to I forget what the number was, but it was something like. I don't remember something like two hundred and seventy dollars per game.
00:35:40
Speaker
that has been sold. So say they sold 3 million copies. They're making like $270 per month per person. So the game now, every person who has the games, not spending 270 bucks every month on stuff, but people are spending thousands. Yeah. And it's like, it's just, it's a free game.
00:35:59
Speaker
One, it's why it should be a free game. Two, these creators are coming out and straight up saying, let's be honest, this is gambling. It just is. It's just straight up gambling. And the amount of these creators are like, look, I make my livelihood off this. When I was 16 years old, I was stealing my mom's credit card information and put it in so I could buy stuff like this. And he's like, I know that's what kids are out there doing. I know it's happening, 100%. And not everyone, obviously, but that's happening. And so they're just like,
00:36:27
Speaker
If you're going to do that, you have to make it a free game and just be a little bit more transparent with things where you're just kind of like, hey, this is basically gambling, just so you know.
00:36:39
Speaker
Which is why I hope that the gameplay of this game is good. Correct. Because 100% that's the most important thing. And how much different will it be for Madden? Back in the day when we were getting them both, usually college football was slightly more arcadey, which made it slightly more fun. It was. It was a little bit more faster paced, a little bit more unrealistic without completely breaking, you know?
00:37:05
Speaker
Which is slightly more interesting. It was realistic enough, right? And then you would play Madden and it was like way more realistic and slower paced and all this other stuff and that's why it sucks.
00:37:18
Speaker
Yeah, we've talked about, honestly, it really just kind of felt like not that Madden at that time was a bad game, but it was like Madden was like, we want to make the most realistic football experience that you can also have some fun while playing. Whereas NCAA was like, we want to create the most fun experience and then make it as realistic as we can without breaking down, without taking from that fun.
00:37:39
Speaker
So, like, yeah, I hope they're working on it for a while. It was supposed to be out last year, got delayed a whole year. So hopefully the menus work correctly, you know. Oh, my gosh. It depends on how much they're ripping away from it because man's the same way where it's like you hit something in the menu and then 15 seconds later, it might load if you're lucky. Yes. Really? The other the only other bundle is both both of the games with everything I mentioned before for one hundred and fifty dollars, which I find to be bogus.
00:38:09
Speaker
You can buy both games for 140. So you're gonna... 10 more dollars, but you're gonna give everybody 4,600 points. Yeah. That's bullcrap.
00:38:20
Speaker
I don't know. I just, I will say ultimate team, like ultimate team for this could, it is not a terrible idea. Unless they do what they've done with FIFA and kind of what they've started doing with Madden, which is funneling everybody to that. It's like, we care about this way more than we care about anything else. Cause this is where you're going to spend points on, right? This is where you're going to buy those points and make money. So like if they, if they don't capitalize on this online dynasty stuff that they really should, then it's a huge miss.
00:38:50
Speaker
I agree. We'll see. I don't think it'll be. Like I said, the game comes out July 19th. There's rumored, heavily rumored to be a PlayStation showcase this month, the end of this month sometime. So EA is not doing, if I remember correctly, they're not doing another thing like a showcase. They didn't do one last year. I think they maybe stopped two years ago, which means
00:39:18
Speaker
It'll either show up in one of the three big boys. And I would, I mean, I don't know, maybe I don't know who would who would divvy it up to get that. Or maybe they'll just drop a video or do their own thing or something. But we'll know soon. I'm going to pass it off to Andrew and Carlos now because they love sports so much. Is there anything you guys want to discuss? Because that's all I got for today.
00:39:45
Speaker
Sports. OK, so one of my favorite games from Nintendo is called Super Dodgeball. Let's get good. Let's get a 2024 remake. Maybe there is a pretty decent dodgeball game is out now. There is. Yeah, like it's a it's a. Mm hmm.
00:40:06
Speaker
No, but it's like in that same style of game, though. It's not like a realistic new game. It's like a. That's that like. One. Yeah. Oh, there is. There is also that EA dodge. I know a game you're talking about. It's it's pretty fun. Now I'm just thinking about like other niche sports games out there or sports out that are out there that don't have a game or maybe. I was thinking what about.
00:40:36
Speaker
What about, uh, what is that? Uh, like, like a tour de France, like a bicycle racing thing. Like, does that exist? I don't know. It used to really have a game called tour de France as a video game. Excuse me. Have never made a game. Do you guys know what cricket is?
00:40:53
Speaker
Yeah, I do. The game has to exist like outside the U.S., right? If there's video that exists here. Yeah, look, just go on the go on the PlayStation Store when you have a time when you have a time and just search all these sports. There are games for them. What about highlight? There's rugby. There's.
00:41:11
Speaker
Tennis, there's yeah, I think there's a cricket game on tour de France 2021 Wow. Yeah By the way dodgeball video game. I was thinking about it's called dodgeball academia Also, there's two tour de France 2021 on steam has a 9 out of 10 rating dang see There's not a Russian roulette game
00:41:41
Speaker
I don't know what the problem is. Is that a sport though? I don't know if it's considered a sport. It's a blood sport. It's a betting game. Russian Roulette. Now the song is stuck in my head. There's a game called Russian Roulette One Live on Steam.
00:42:04
Speaker
And it's two people. It's literally two people sitting at a table doing Russian relay. But pickleball is really popular out of nowhere in the past year. Hopping. I don't understand, by the way. I don't either.
00:42:17
Speaker
I mean, it is cool. It is huge. So it's like in between. It's like a miniature version of tennis, but not like ping pong table tennis like like there is. So it's for old people. That's what it looks like. It's supposed to be. But there's it's it's all over the place now. Like I had someone asked me at work the other day, like
00:42:39
Speaker
Like, have you ever played pickleball? I'm like, no. Yeah, there's like leagues and stuff that they advertise all over the city. Actually, I went to go watch an Ultimate Frisbee game for the first time a couple of weeks ago. And the guy in front of me. Yeah. Yeah. It was it was actually pretty cool to watch. We watched it was Atlanta. Atlanta played Atlanta has their team. Atlanta Hustle, which I thought was pretty interesting. We try hard. The they made New York.
00:43:10
Speaker
We went to go see MKBHD. That's the reason why I went, but yeah, his team lost.
00:43:14
Speaker
Yeah, that dude just said half the alphabet. I did. Yeah. So pickleball, the reason I don't get it, I was going to say, the reason I don't get pickleball is because tennis, pretty fun. If you ever played tennis, it's not bad. Yeah. Yeah. Ping pong table tennis. Love that. I can play that all day long. Never desired something in between. Like we got it surrounded. Like that's really kind of like why just play one or the other. I don't know.
00:43:40
Speaker
On October the 23rd of last year, Pickleball Smash came out for all consoles. Oh man. Oh man, Pickleball Smash missed it. Pickleball Smash. The truth is, it sounds so silly though. Mario Pickleball, is that coming? Yeah, but I'm surprised that's not a thing.
00:43:58
Speaker
Now, truth be told, I've never got into sports games unless it was like arcadey. So like all the Mario stuff, NBA, jam, blitz, blitz. Yeah. Yeah. Like that's the only sports games ever got into, to be honest, play the mutant mutant football. Oh, was that SNS and Sega?
00:44:17
Speaker
Yeah, I had a genesis. Yeah, that's fun. There is a UFA 24 video game. It's been announced and coming soon, which is Pro Ultimate Frisbee. Really? You can sign up now to receive exclusive early access to the game on Steam before the general public. What about Roller Derby?
00:44:34
Speaker
Oh, yeah, there's a couple of those. There's a shoot. There's a third person shooter roller derby game. What? Yeah, it's really new, right? Champions. Yeah, it's got like a cool art style. It's like an indie game. Yeah. Oh, it's like last year or two years ago. That's interesting.
00:44:53
Speaker
It's like it's supposed to be like a mix of like a Tony Hawk and it's roller roller champions. We tried it or so. I tried it with like one night or something. He said roller champions. Is that right? There's a game called roller champions that just came out. That was. Oh, goes to Shoshima is out today. Oh, I know. Guys, not a sports game. I can't I can't afford another game. Oh, it's roller champions is free. OK, that's not what I'm talking about. Let's see. No, that's not the one I'm talking about either. Yeah.
00:45:23
Speaker
Yes, Ghost is out and I cannot buy it. Roller Dome. That's what it's called. Roller Dome. Yep. That's the one. I actually didn't like that art style. Oh, really? Oh, yeah. I remember this. Yep. Apparently, it's really awesome. Oh, is this not on Steam? Roller Dome. It'd be steaming. It is. It's 67% off right now on Steam, so you can get it for $1.89. It is.
00:45:49
Speaker
He's not lying. Why is it not showing up on here? Is it two words, roller? One word, roller dome. I'm spelling roller right right now. R.O.H. L.L.U.R.E. Roller. Not sure. Don't do that. There it is. Rollerdrome, guys. Rollerdrome. Rollerdrome. Idiots. So dumb. I never said it. I didn't even say it wrong once. Y'all did. Yeah, my bad.
00:46:21
Speaker
It's interesting because this is not like roller derby per se, but it's not really it is. I actually think I vaguely remember this trailer. It looks cool, though.
00:46:32
Speaker
Is it? I love how over the top it is. Yeah. And that, uh, sell sheeted art style. Well, you don't realize that the company reached out to me to talk about it on the podcast as it's on sale. So we'd all buy it. Or they can give us free copies there, right? Hey, there we go. Yeah. We need you to talk about it. Call it roller dome though. I'm sitting here searching. They ripped the contract as soon as I said it wrong. They just ripped the contract.
00:47:04
Speaker
Yeah, dang, it's got good ratings. Yep. Yeah. Any anything else? If you've been playing, I know I've just been playing. Destiny, you know, we want to know from time to time. He's to baby. We played all day yesterday. I don't know how to play Hades to. I don't know how to say the game that I've been playing.
00:47:28
Speaker
Well, but no Bellattro Bellattro. Yeah, I've been on the game over the last month. Yeah. Yeah, Ivy got me on to it. And so I've played. It's really fun. Really. It's a like a poker road road light. Yeah, that's what I've heard. Yeah. Nice. Nothing but good things about that. It's really fun. Definitely like a sit down and just play it for 30 minutes or play it for three hours.
00:47:55
Speaker
You know, just kind of how is a Hades to treat you? Fantastic. So I'm only like, uh, maybe like five, six hours in. Apparently this is early access from what I've heard. There's more content in the early access than the original game.
00:48:16
Speaker
which is insane. So I'm curious, so are you going to beat it and then beat it again when it's fully released? So apparently the ending of the game right now is a placeholder and not the true ending of the game. That's what I've heard. Interesting.
00:48:31
Speaker
Yep. Apparently there's placeholders for characters. Like there, there is actual missing content, but apparently there is so much in here that it's way more than the original, which is insane. So what's up? Cool. If you liked the first one, you're, you're going to love this one.
00:48:51
Speaker
All right. Well, you'll play some Street Fighter duel on your phone, man. Telling you I've been playing. I got Donatello and Raphael in there. Other two turtles. I'm excited. This one. The way to duel. I will say. I don't know who would find this. Nailed it. But so when I I do this every time I travel for a long period of time or go on tour or anything like that.
00:49:19
Speaker
is usually Walmart and Amazon have the best return policies for iPads, but you get an iPad and you can return it within 30 days. I think if it's refurbished on Amazon, you have like 60 days or something like that.
00:49:32
Speaker
And that way I can download, I can download all movies and TV shows and stuff like that. And so if there's any iPad games that are good, let me know that I can play offline. So you're going to, you're going to buy an iPad, take it on tour, play, and then return it. Correct. I couldn't do it. I mean, I've done it six or seven times.
00:49:59
Speaker
And it works perfect every day. And as long as you don't drop it and break it. Yeah, I just get a I just get a beefy case. So like no one's ever going to drop this thing. And if it does, it doesn't matter. Like the ones you would give a child. This is super. So do you return the case as well? No, I keep the case dinosaurs on the back of it. Keep the case for next time. OK. Which just happens to be coming up. So. But so funny.
00:50:27
Speaker
There usually is some good iPad games. So all these games that like are console type games or console PC games that come to iPad Typically work a lot better on iPad. Yep, and then also stand get your controller But I bet I bet that Valetro game is on iOS Maybe it's not not sure I bet I know slay the spiders though
00:50:55
Speaker
Oh, yeah, I've got that on my phone. I bought that game like, I don't know, three, four times. Any other final thoughts before we end this out? Video games. Video games! Here's my one final thought. We'd have to get into the whole thing. But all the sports games and talking about the money, whatever. And I understand they make a lot of money off their ultimate team type things. But if they're not improving the games at all or in menus and all those kind of things,
00:51:24
Speaker
I've said we've talked about before I think you make the game one you make the game free and then two you come out with your game every other year and you just update rosters like just do it Matthew you weren't here last week but any any brief thoughts on all the Xbox escapade that happened
00:51:43
Speaker
And now now I'm surprised we didn't talk about this, but PlayStation apparently is going to be looking to possibly do the same thing and move exclusive to other consoles. I think yes. So like like a hell divers would work and stuff like that. But a big single player games that people buy it for. I don't know. They're not going to route Microsoft it.
00:52:05
Speaker
I think they'll be content with just like PlayStation and PC, to be honest. I think just those two, they're golden. If Xbox was, you know, 50-50 marketplace with them, then you can look into it because you make money off of the people playing the other console. But if you got 80% of the marketplace, what's the point? Yeah, that's fair. It's probably more work. I was about to say it's not worth the work and the money to do all that.
00:52:29
Speaker
They're looking, they're like, Hey, look at us. We're doing fine. You know, like Microsoft. Yeah, we get, we get it. They're struggling. The last thing for the Xbox stuff was, I don't know if it was yesterday or two days ago, a Microsoft person said, there's no red line when it comes to what games we would move to other platforms, which essentially tells me the same thing that we talked about last week. Everything's coming. They're desperate. They are so desperate. It tells me that.
00:52:58
Speaker
There's not going to be very many Xboxes in the future. Yep. I really don't see that hard. They're turning into Sega.
00:53:06
Speaker
Yeah, I think their strategy is going to be they're probably probably passing game or Xbox and then they're going to try and get it out a year before. Bro, what's it like? What if in 10 years it's only just Nintendo and Sony? No, or the only physical consoles. Microsoft. Microsoft goes away. They become third party developers and then Sega resurfaces with. Oh, God, please, bro. Let me tell you, let's go.
00:53:33
Speaker
The next company to make a console, you watch it. Epic will make a console. Epic will be the next. Epic game. They are massive and rolling in the dough because of Fortnite and other things. And then they just, everybody uses Unreal and just gives them a check. So they're making plenty of money. That's fair.
00:53:56
Speaker
It's interesting because obviously Microsoft is in charge now, not the Xbox people, and they just want money. So I know it's not much, but any third-party game that's sold on consoles, they get a 30% cut of that or whatever. So to just not do Xbox anymore,
00:54:18
Speaker
would mean losing a lot of money. But at the same time, it's like, that's the right game. All your games, if you're bringing if you're going to take all your games everywhere, then there's no reason to buy. So they're going to they're in a pickle. But it's not good for anybody. It's not good if you want an Xbox. It's not good if you want Sony to keep being amazing, because Sony currently is what they are, because
00:54:41
Speaker
They want to be, you know, we want to be a little bit better than whatever the Xbox is, a little bit cheaper or at least same price as when they have nothing

Future of Gaming Consoles & Farewell

00:54:49
Speaker
to compete with. Are we getting a, you know, $700 PlayStation come out? What's going on? I mean, I don't remember who I was talking this with, but like PS3 came out for $600 in 2007 or whatever that was. It's essentially $1,000 today. So it's like PS6 being $1,000 is a real thing that could happen.
00:55:11
Speaker
Oh, that's the world we live in, sign. I mean, the PS VR two is still five hundred and fifty dollars and no one's even buying it. I'm wondering if it doesn't have a connect because like five is like a OK, PS five. You know, I wonder at some point if Sony is going to change their naming scheme or if they're just going to keep it down in the future, the PS nine to PS twelve. It's like,
00:55:37
Speaker
Is there going to be a numerical thing where they stop and they start changing it into something else, like a new, like breathing fresh air into like the name of it? Not like the route Microsoft's going because Microsoft can't stick with a console name generated for. They just confuse everybody. They confuse everybody. But like if. Series X. I don't know. Is that the same thing?
00:55:57
Speaker
Yeah. One S like there's so many. But if they if they Sony comes out with like a new line of consoles, then they can start over again and iterate that to two, three, four. But, you know, they'll be smart about it. Yeah. Time will tell this up when we get here. All right. We want to thank everybody for listening again. You can watch us live on YouTube and Twitch.
