Leap Year and Tyrese Haliburton

00:00:13
Speaker
what's up everybody welcome to the logon games podcast for friday march the first we are recording this in february the 29th leap year leap year matthew we're recording on the day that usually doesn't exist
00:00:31
Speaker
It doesn't um fun fact of the day uh Star all-star point guard tyrese halliburton for the indiana pacer's was born on february the 29th. So technically he's five years old today. So There you go. Here's a here's a um, there's a conversation I heard the other day And I kind of agree with it I don't think leap year should be called leap year I think all the other years should be called leap year and leap year should be the one that's not called leap year because
00:01:01
Speaker
All the other years, you're leaping over the 29th, just skipping it. Just like we're skipping it. Or we're leaping to the 29th. Sure. I don't know about that. Listen, if we don't do this, winter will be one day shorter or one day longer or whatever. So it's very important. Something cool needs to happen. Write a song called February 29th and it can be cool. I'm sure it's been done. Probably.

Nintendo & Pokemon Updates

00:01:29
Speaker
Um, we're going to talk about Nintendo.
00:01:33
Speaker
in Pokemon today because we got some news on Switch 2. We got some, a lot of Pokemon news and some very interesting Pokemon news. I should say so myself. So we're just going to Nintendo it up today. With me today, you can find him back at the brick wall at X. Use the right X. We have Matthew with us on the podcast today.
00:02:01
Speaker
fun Hey, you know the thumbs up thing. I just did it popped up on the screen or whatever. Yeah, I for the Class that I'm in for school. I had to I had to preach a sermon in front of a handful of people the other day And so I did that literally at the house I had people come over and we did like a board game and whatever it's like Give me like 15 minutes and then we'll go
00:02:22
Speaker
And I recorded it using my laptop and at some point it did this with the thing during my sermon, it pops up on the side. I was like, oops. Perfect. It was funny. You got to watch if you're listening, if you got to, you got to check out the YouTubes.
00:02:38
Speaker
for a second. So like you, you did the thumbs up right when Emily texted me. So it did the B and I was like, did they change it or it does sounds now? And then I was like, that's funny. Cause then chaos wouldn't sue at that point. Oh, absolutely it would. Uh, what you've been playing?

Pacific Drive Discussion

00:03:00
Speaker
Well, a very one of my most highly anticipated games of the year came out about a week ago, Pacific Drive. So I've been playing some of that. If you remember, we actually talked about that on the podcast last year. Got to play early at PAX.
00:03:18
Speaker
She's coming up soon, by the way. And, uh, yeah, it, it's really fun. I like it a lot. It's not easy. Um, it's definitely, uh, like, um, well, I mean, it's, it's the most single player, a single player game can be like, there's no, like, I don't even really think it would be all that fun to watch other people play. I guess you could, but whatever. It's definitely kind of a solo experience.
00:03:45
Speaker
Um, survival slash like you're building up your thing. Oh, it's fun. It's just a cool, it's a cool deal. You're kind of like building up your little station wagon. Yeah. What, uh, what day are you going to packs? Uh, I've not yet gotten a ticket. If they still have a Friday ticket, that's the day that I will go. Cause Ivy, I know it was going on Friday and kind of funny. I think it's doing a thing on, on Friday as well. Actually, they're doing a, when their game show things live.
00:04:15
Speaker
Kind of funny game showdown, live video game trivia show. Yeah. Um, there's also a grand tourism of the sport. Something happening on Friday. Do they still have tickets available? What's the question? I don't know. I'm just looking at the schedule to see if there's anything crazy. No, I don't think so.
00:04:44
Speaker
There's point salad, whatever that means. Saturday is sold out Friday. Giant bomb. It's going to be in there. Remembering Pokemon live, the nearly lost Pokemon musical. Got to go to that. I do not have to go to that. NBA Jam at 9 PM. What does that mean?
00:05:02
Speaker
They're going to be jamming. I mean, it's a console tournament. Okay. See, that's the, is this like NBA jam in real life? Are we talking like it's not? Okay. So it's not only a console term. It's the Sega Genesis NBA jam console tournament. That is the correct one to play from 9 PM to 11 PM. So brush up on your skills. I will. I have it on my little, uh, my little emulator machine. So you can dominate. You can be Bill, Bill Clinton and YAM on some people.
00:05:32
Speaker
Uh, yup. You'd be Bill Clinton. And I was also P-Funk. That was a big, big fan of P-Funk. I actually played as your favorite team in that game before they were your favorite team. My go-to team to play with was the Supersonics. Here's the, here's the problem that I think we're going to run into with that is there's going to be a, there's going to be an expansion team probably within the next three years.
00:05:58
Speaker
It's going back and it's going to be in Seattle. Seattle and Vegas and Montreal, I think are like the three that are like really want it. So if Seattle gets a team, you would assume they would just be the super sonics again. So if that's the case, what happens to the history books, I would assume just we keep super sonics and then the OKC is just like its own thing now.
00:06:17
Speaker
No, you still get to be the history. You just get, you're kind of connected at that point. It's a like, we don't want to be connected. Well, like I'm up here in Boston and as an Atlanta Braves fan, we're in Atlanta Braves world series champion hoodie currently. Uh, we kind of like each other because we were the Boston Braves once upon a time we were here. There's actually a place downtown where you can still see like, uh, where the old stadium used to be where the Braves played and stuff. So.
00:06:42
Speaker
Well, it's not so much for the OKC fans, but people in Seattle hate OKC for the most part, because we took their team from them. Which is stupid, because it's the NBA's fault. It has nothing to do with it. It's Seattle's fault. OKC. What happened was they... Sports is sports on the Live on Games podcast. They voted to not build a new arena. Right. And so they had this old piece of junk. And so the owners were like, we'd be better off moving.
00:07:12
Speaker
or so they moved to OKC. And that's why this year, where it was last December, there was the vote to build a newer arena in OKC. And everybody's like, listen, we got this team because Seattle didn't do this, so you better vote. And the vote went through, so we're getting a new arena. And then they signed whatever deal for the team to stay through like 2040 or something like that because of that deal. So we're staying, baby. Anyways, this is a lot.
00:07:37
Speaker

Criticism of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

00:08:48
Speaker
Let's get to the nitty gritty. Pokemon day was a couple days ago. It was a couple days ago. I mean two because that's what a couple means. February the 27th. They did their big long stream. Now it has been
00:09:10
Speaker
2022, the end of 2022 when the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out in its glory of getting good reviews and being like, this game's really good. And then getting bad reviews have been like, this game's really good, but I can't play it because it's gone running at four frames a second. Have you tried it at any park?
00:09:29
Speaker
I played it for about the first five hours back when I still had a switch in November of 2022. Nice. And then I got caught on a mountaintop somewhere and I got stuck and so I turned it off and turned it back on and I was still on that mountaintop and it was impossible to get down. And so I either had to completely restart my game
00:09:57
Speaker
Or just say I'm not playing this three frames a second Pokemon game. I'll wait till there's a switch too. And that's why I decided. Sold my switch because Pokemon made me so angry. I sold my switch. But very excited to play it. I'm going to get a stable 30 frames one day maybe.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket

00:10:16
Speaker
But we have a bunch of Pokemon news and some of the stuff is very, very interesting. So I'm not going to really go over everything there was.
00:10:25
Speaker
some Scarlet and Violet terror raid stuff. There's Pokemon Go stuff, some Pokemon Unite stuff, some Pokemon Sleep stuff. There's two big ones I want to touch on. Okay. One is the Pokemon trading card mobile game.
00:10:42
Speaker
Yes. I'm reading this from IGN.com. If you're looking for another way to play Pokemon on your phone and you're a fan of the official Pokemon trading card game, I have good news. During today's presentation, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket was announced. This game will allow you to collect virtual Pokemon cards in addition to battling with your friends, Pokemon Card Game Pocket. Just call it Pokemon Pocket. That's why we call it Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket.
00:11:11
Speaker
is a collaboration between the Pokemon company, the Pokemon trading card game creator creatures, Inc. and Masters X creator DNA. The game is designed for those familiar with the Pokemon TCG. In addition to those who love pocket monsters, but never played Pokemon trading card game pocket is out sometime this year on iOS and Android now.
00:11:35
Speaker
It's been kind of the hotness. Now, I'm gonna take you back. Take me back. Take you back to 2019, 2020. That's not that long ago. When NFT started becoming big time big boy bucks makers. For a very brief amount of time. Very brief amount of time. I as well made
00:12:03
Speaker
A cool foul, thanks to lamello ball on NBA, whatever the thing was. It's still a rookie lamello ball when things were popping off and I immediately sold that bad boy. And I was like, all right, I did it. I participated one of the few, uh, NFT things. It's still actually going decently strong.
00:12:22
Speaker
I think that's partly, I mean, this is a sports podcast now, but I think that's partly because every NBA game, there's like a NBA, I forget what the name of it is. There's like a section you can go there and like get free cards and you can like scan the thing. And it's like a whole little, little deal. But anyways, uh, then NFTs died off and you know, some of you may like NFTs. A lot of people like them. A lot of people hate them. A lot of people don't know what they are. A lot of people don't care. Um,
00:12:48
Speaker
When I saw this, or I'm sorry, back then we would talk amongst ourselves that Pokemon would break the world if they came out with some sort of, you don't have to call it an FT, but just some sort of digital Pokemon where you can
00:13:05
Speaker
buy packs, trade, sell, battle, the whole nine. Now is this what Pokemon Pocket is gonna be? I'm not sure they haven't given us all the details. What they showed in the trailer was that you will open packs, you get two free packs a day, which means you can buy packs. So already they're making some dough, even if it's not completely whatever.
00:13:35
Speaker
Um, for those unfamiliar with NFT world, it's basically, it's essentially you have something digital, but you actually own it. Like you can't, uh, pirate it. You can't, uh, if you go on and you're like make fake copies or whatever, that's illegal. You can get in big time trouble for that. So for example, it's also going to be really difficult to do with stuff as protected as this app will be. Um,
00:14:03
Speaker
This picture we're seeing, he packs an EV or whatever. So essentially that is your EV, you can trade it, you can sell it, you can never. I don't know if that's what, if they're going to go that far with this. If they are, I don't think they're going to say it anyway. Go how far? Like to make, like these are NFTs, there's blockchain technology in the background so that you actually own this card. There's going to be a marketplace where you can sell this card. I don't know if they're going to go that far, but you can trade.
00:14:26
Speaker
So you can buy packs, have the cards and trade with friends and stuff like that. So there is that aspect to it.
00:14:33
Speaker
But I was talking to one Tanner Britt about this when it came out, because we were kind of freaking a little bit. You can, like, you play the Pokemon trading card game in this. You make decks, you can trade cards, stuff like that. I feel like you kind of, even if it's not at launch, at some point have to put up a marketplace, because if you are, especially if this game or this Pokemon pocket grows,
00:15:01
Speaker
Cause if you're playing online with people and like you're building decks and stuff like that, and you need a certain card that's super hard to pack, like there needs to be a way to get said card. It's essentially going, I would assume.
00:15:16
Speaker
It's Nintendo. So they generally don't like to throw dollar amounts just directly on things. They kind of hide it a little bit, which is fine. Totally. Okay. With, I assume it's going to be like Madden ultimate team or FIFA ultimate team, where you can, you'll have a marketplace where you can put your card up for 1500 polka dollars or whatever the thing is. And you can buy the polka dollars with real money if you want, or you can, you know, trade your way up paperclip to a house, you know? Yeah.
00:15:46
Speaker
I feel like it's going to be much more on that world, but if there's a way to exchange said poker dollars for real life monies, that's, I mean, if I'm being self-recess for one, because I want to open up a card, get something super rare and sell it to some, some idiot over in Australia that wants his card so bad, he's willing to give me $10,000 for it. You know, that's what I want to do.
00:16:11
Speaker
Well, that can happen in other ways. Right. And so essentially that. If you can friend people and trade, then it's it's open market season.
00:16:25
Speaker
Yeah, that's what I was going to say because basically you're going to have deals. I am going to send you, I'll trade you this Charizard for your, I don't know, Squirtle and 200 bucks or whatever. And people are going to Venmo you 200 bucks and then whatever if you do it that way. So I think the best way to do it, like you said,
00:16:46
Speaker
I think that's, that way is probably what's going to happen because I don't think they're going to want to put within their app a way to cash out money. Yeah, I agree. I think you're right. I think it'll be more like ultimate team kind of stuff where you get your polka dollars and, and there are all kinds of websites. So you can be a really good, well, there's tons of websites you can go to right now today and buy coins for ultimate teams. And that's not supposed to be a thing that you can do, but it is because people will find a way.
00:17:16
Speaker
And I think you're probably going to see similar type things to this. It's very interesting. Either way, I just, as soon as I saw this commercials, like if this is like an ultimate team thing or if this is like a full NFT thing, like I'm just going to be really hard for me to just not start buying some packs, but it also could suck and also could just not do it right. And it could just be like a thing that we do for like a week. And we're like, ah, no, I'll pass. I think it's a thing that'll, it'll, I mean,
00:17:46
Speaker
I don't think, I think it's probably going to be somewhere in between. Like I would still rather go buy the real life cards for sure. I think the only, like the big plus see, I was never super huge into playing Pokemon.
00:17:59
Speaker
I like the collecting more than the playing, although the the Game Boy game is phenomenal. Trading card game. But part of that is when you get a really like you if you pack a Charizard, you are not going to play a game with it. You want it to be interesting condition. Now, who cares? You can't mess up your cars when you're playing with them. I'd be hilarious if you could. Your card got like a match. It is like messed up now. It is very interesting.
00:18:29
Speaker
But time will tell. It's supposed to come out this year sometime. It's just said 2024, which is a big old window. Big window. It'll be interesting. And it's also like in the commercial.
00:18:44
Speaker
Like they don't show you playing the actual card game until like the second half of the commercial. The whole first half I think is, hey collectors. Like that's what it sound. That's what it felt like. Like you can rip packs, buy a packs. You got these binders because we got the different rarities and different art that do cool things. Yeah. See this guy's getting real excited opening this pack in bed and gets a whatever he got. Oh yeah. And then you can play the card game if you want to.
00:19:12
Speaker
Which I think is, I don't think they should have put play the card game in there. I think that's the dumbest part of it, in my opinion. But I think they had to, in order to justify what's going to happen in the marketplace of whatever this game is. Maybe. And let's just like merge it with the TCG, like, because they're, they're, they're already really good.
00:19:32
Speaker
I saw the people that play the online trading card game, like a little, a little pissed off at like, like, or like you better be able to transfer your stuff over, which maybe you will be, but I would say no, but because he did not set, he, he specifically said that you'll be able to play a shorter, faster, quicker version. And so like, I don't think it's the full fledged deal. I think you're probably playing, uh, like a five minute game instead. Yeah. So I don't know. Maybe it's like,
00:20:01
Speaker
I don't know exactly how they're going to do it, but he said in the video that it was a shorter, faster version. And also like, I think just like if you just go to the store and buy a pack of Pokemon cards, it's usually like four or $5 or something like that. Yeah, usually five bucks. So I'm wondering like, uh, like what the prices on these packs are going to be. Are we going to have, are we going to have more than one? We have $1 packs. You can have $2 packs. Yeah.
00:20:30
Speaker
rare $5 packs, we're guaranteed a certain rarity of something. I'm sure they'll do, I'm sure they'll do like ultimate teams do as well. You just got real blurry for no reason. Um, I'm sure they'll do like the ultimate teams do where, uh, it'll be like, you know, it's $2 for a regular pack with a rare in it.
00:20:52
Speaker
or guaranteed rare. And then it's $4 with a pack with twice as many cards with three guaranteed rare. You know what I'm saying? It's just kind of like that kind of deal. And also, if there's two free packs a day that you get to open, I just almost guarantee you that there's some sort of membership for 10 or 12 or 15 bucks a month where you get four free packs a day instead of two or whatever. And that's common for sure. I just
00:21:18
Speaker
More than likely, it'll be, you know, whatever, but it is this potentially might set the world on fire. They do it right. We'll see. It's possible. It's possible. It's intriguing.

New Pokemon Legends Teased

00:21:29
Speaker
We'll see what happens. Yeah.
00:21:31
Speaker
Um, also on the news front for the games side of things. Um, like I said, X and Y or net X and Y scarlet and violet. We got in fall of 2022. I haven't gotten some, uh, DLC for that, but, uh, we also got Pokemon some legends, Arceus or Arceus, whatever you want to say it in January of 2022. So it's been since the end of 2022. So we've gotten any Pokemon game.
00:21:59
Speaker
Usually they take the year off and then there's another game like every other year or whatever. So this would have been the year for a new game. We've talked about it on the podcast. It'd probably be a remake of something. There's been rumors all over the place, whatever. But what we got is Pokemon Legends Z minus A. Great name.
00:22:25
Speaker
And I'm again reading this from IGN. The last major announcement of today's Pokemon presents was a teaser trailer for a new Pokemon Legends game. While no gameplay was shown, we do know that Pokemon Legends Z-Miza will be set entirely in the city of Luminous City, the name of the city that sounds familiar to Pokemon fans as it's a major city in the Kalos region, which is Pokemon X and Y region. Um,
00:22:54
Speaker
A lot of speculation about this game could just be a Pokemon Legends game. Um, similar to what the first one was, but you're building the city. It seems like it may be more in modern times, whatever could be more open world. It could be multiplayer of some sort. Nobody really knows, but, uh,
00:23:17
Speaker
It happened. Do you have your thoughts? I think it looks good. Well, we talked about a little bit when, when Arceus came out that like it, that clearly looked like a trial run for them. Let's see if people are into this. Let's see if this works as well as we want it to whatever. And there were some good and there was some bad. I think that was a solidly average game, but I think that there are some things that they could take from that and implement, especially now that you see power world doing what power was doing.
00:23:47
Speaker
Um, I don't know. I thought it looked, I thought it looked interesting. Um, I'm, I was way more interested in it than I was in Arceus when it came out, when I first saw that trailer for sure. Um, the interesting part was at the end of said trailer, um, when it had the little,
00:24:08
Speaker
thing that, uh, Pokemon Z mine say or whatever. And then it said, and then even in the pictures that they posted afterwards, coming to Nintendo switch systems, plural. That's what it said. Yes. Correct. Uh, meaning I would assume switch to, which brings us to our other story of the day, also coming from IGN.

Nintendo Switch 2 Rumors

00:24:33
Speaker
Japanese publication Nikai reported the March 2025 release window with much of the same information that leaked so far as it's about the Nintendo Switch 2 reportedly being delayed until March. The Nintendo's next console is a Switch successor with a similar hybrid functionality but a bigger screen.
00:24:57
Speaker
The report does however suggest one of the reasons Nintendo has set a March 2025 release window is to ensure it can manufacture enough launch stock to satisfy demand and therefore combat scalpers.
00:25:10
Speaker
When the switch launched March 7th, 2017, it was almost impossible to get hold of, sparking a vibrant scalping market. It stands to reason Nintendo would want to avoid repeating the situation. The report, March 2025 is the earliest possible date for Nintendo's next generation console will launch, suggesting it may not make Nintendo's next financial year. Given the pressure Nintendo has done to go to release successor in the near seven-year-old switch,
00:25:38
Speaker
the post March 25th or 2025 launch would come as a huge surprise. Now this is also a heavy rumor around this is that the next Mario 3D game needs more time. And so that's another reason why they're delaying it. But it could also be Pokemon related to this where this could have been supposed to come out this year with the Switch 2, but if the Switch 2 couldn't be delayed till 2005, let's just delay this till 2025.
00:26:09
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. Um, that's a window that makes a lot of sense though. Honestly, like what, regardless if they're, if it's delaying it to that or not, or if that was the original intended window, I think that's a good window for it. Yeah. I really wanted it to come out this year because there's a lot of games to play, but, uh,
00:26:30
Speaker
All right. Now this is from Nintendo. So there's still time, but it seems, especially with the, when this Pokemon thing happened, it said 2025 is this game for me. That was like, all right. Well, you probably would have come out with this. You're probably going to want to come out with this around switch two times, if not on switch two day. Now, obviously it said switch system. So this is going to come to the older switch systems, but.
00:26:56
Speaker
A reason we probably didn't see a gameplay is because when they show gameplay, they're going to show it like it's running on the switch to correct, which actually kind of hate, kind of hate. This is coming out for both. Yeah, we switched to only, but there's too big of a, too big of a player base. I get it. Yeah. Especially for Pokemon's game. It's going to sell hotcakes.
00:27:20
Speaker
It will, it will indeed, you know, I hope, go ahead. Say my hope and dream is that it's Tim Tim, like where it is Pokemon game, similar to the last or the first Pokemon legends game, but you can just kind of do things with your friends. Cause when you think about Pokemon's legends, Arceus, there's really nothing
00:27:48
Speaker
about that game that's like, Oh, you cannot make this multiplayer. You can't make this two player co-op or three player co-op or have 10 people in your, in your server while you play. Because it was literally just like, you're going out and doing the story missions, whatever your story missions were kind of secondary to almost what the gameplay loop was, which was just kind of go out and collect things and do.
00:28:14
Speaker
a certain checklist kind of side missions and stuff like that. We're just kind of going out and exploring a lot too, similarly. Right. While you're just kind of going on exploring and seeing what you can find and do things. There's really nothing that was like, yeah, this needs to be single player only forever. So I agree. I would love for him, Tim, Tim ish. Yeah, I would too. Um, I've, we've said that for a while, but I don't know. I just never know what to think when it comes to Pokemon. You just never know.
00:28:44
Speaker
Yeah. I am not putting my eggs in that basket. I'm assuming it's just going to be normal, but. You're not putting all your Pokeballs in that basket. I'm not putting all my Pokeballs in that basket, unfortunately. I started a new Pokemon game last night. Which was? Called Pokemon Sleep. And it didn't do that great. How does that go? I only slept five and a half hours and it said I'm supposed to sleep eight and a half as an adult. Yeah.
00:29:12

I only got 70 points for sleeping last night. Out of 100 points?
00:29:18
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know. Well, let's see. I just was like, why not? Let's just throw this thing on the bed and see what happens. So I don't know. It's maybe something that lasts for two more nights for me and maybe something I get to just do just cause. Just cause. Uh, guys sleep. You know, there was some, there was some Pokemon sleep news in here somewhere, but there was, I don't remember what it was either. Maybe it was just like, oh, something, something coming to it. No, they talked about it. I just can't remember what they said. No.
00:29:50
Speaker
I don't know. I forgot about it. Also didn't know it was out. Like I remember them talking about it, but didn't know it was out. And so there is a, uh, a okay seats under podcast. I listened to one of the person uses Pokemon game or Pokemon sleep basically since it's come out, he always talks about getting his, his, his points for Pokemon sleep. That's awesome.
00:30:15
Speaker
Um, all right.

Pacific Drive Recommendation

00:30:17
Speaker
Well, that's that's the Nintendo news thus far knows the shorter episodes or anything you want to touch on before
00:30:26
Speaker
Anything we've been, anything you've been playing that you want to talk about? No, I just, I want to encourage people to go check out Pacific drive. It's 30 bucks. 30 bucks is not crazy. It's not too bad. And it, I just haven't seen any hype for it. Like the scores are the, it's getting like, I don't know, sevens and eights everywhere. It's a good game. It's enjoyable, but I just haven't heard it. I just, there's just been no hype around it for some reason and it's really good.
00:30:52
Speaker
I remember there being a lot more hype when it was first like announced. Yeah, absolutely. But I have seen some some people playing it. I've seen some videos on YouTube. Good. Good do that. So play that and then play Power World. Power World. People still playing it. People still playing Helldivers. I've been playing the I've been playing the regular rounds. Final Fantasy 16.
00:31:19
Speaker
Um, Emily woke up at like 3 AM a couple of nights ago. She came downstairs into my lower basement hole to tell me that she couldn't sleep. And I was sitting here and she walks in and I was playing Final Fantasy 16. And when she walked in, there's the two main characters were sleeping in a barn and hay and things were almost getting testy, almost getting a little, a little smooch action, but it didn't happen.
00:31:48
Speaker
And she was very intrigued at that point. So I think she's in. I think she wants to watch the rest of it now. Playing that, we played a little bit of Rocket League like we do. This is kind of surprising, but I feel like three or four out of the last five or six Rocket League seasons, I've completed all the challenges and gotten the drops or whatever, as one would say. You got the blueprints that you don't want to pay for?
00:32:17
Speaker
Actual items this time. If you do like the 22 challenges, you get the red thing, the red drop, the purple drop, and then a regular drop or whatever. So I got that. I don't remember if I got anything good in it, but I got them at least.
00:32:37
Speaker
Um And then been playing some overwatch as well Yeah, I really want to get back into overwatch. I haven't played in a little bit. It's wild right now like It's wild. I don't know if it's for the better or for worse, but it's why is there a lot of people playing? I have no idea But we're matchmaking quickly quick. It depends on what you want to play. So right now tanks are
00:33:04
Speaker
Not the most fun to play because they did that giant update that like they changed almost every character. They changed projectile size. They changed health pools. They changed a lot. Oh, it definitely feels a lot more Overwatch one now. Like your team needs to be you need to be a team for like, like, yeah, you need to be teaming it up. Mainly because tanks are so much more easy to kill now than they ever have been.
00:33:33
Speaker
Yeah. So if your supports aren't with your tank and like, like how overwatch has been, it's like your tank, you can pretty much, you know, you were the last person to die in almost every fight. Now you're the first person to die, it seems like. And so it's just a support versus damage battle. If you're a damaged character, you're having a great old time right now, which is why if you go to the matchmaking now is like back to four or five minutes, if you want to play damage. And then if you want to play tank or sport, you can just do whatever.
00:34:00
Speaker
But it's because of the way they do matchmaking now, there's a lot larger rank pool in each match. It's similar to what Quick Play was or has been. So you'll play a match that's ranged.
00:34:16
Speaker
you'll have like a gold one support, but you'll have like a diamond two tank or whatever. And it's like, there's so much craziness. You'll look at the scoreboard a lot. And it's like, oh, look, this one support character has 10,000 more healing than everybody else. Or this one damage character has like 13,000 damage in second place. Is it like 6,000? And their team wins. Maybe. So they may have like the two worst healers possible. So it's like, you play some really, really frustrating games now.
00:34:44
Speaker
Sure, but then you play so you always did Well, yeah, but now it's just like I'm dying by this one damage guy This obviously like a diamond five or diamond two or whatever and the rest of the people are gold But whatever we have a diamond tank They have a diamond damage, but we have silver support and they have gold support but are what it like it all bounces out Yeah, yeah
00:35:06
Speaker
But you'll have like, you just keep dying by the same person over and over and there's nothing to do about it. And everybody's in the chat. Like, all we have to do is kill this one Genji. That's all they got. Kill him. And then we just team wipe everybody else. So it is kind of like the wild West right now, but, uh, yeah, I need to jump in. It's not fun. Damaging support still fun right now for me, but, um, I want to jump back in,

Dead Island 2 Playthrough

00:35:31
Speaker
jump back in. And then we.
00:35:32
Speaker
We started last weekend playing dead island because it came or dead island two because it came to a game pass. We've probably played like two or three hours of it and it is exactly surprise. And this is kind of surprising, but it is like, it just feels like dead island, which is good. That's a good thing. After, you know, like over a decade since the last dead island game came out and being made by completely different people, you would think.
00:35:58
Speaker
Something would be weird or different, but so far it's, it's pretty much just like, yeah, we're just playing. It's just like a fresher, newer version. That's cool. I have it. Obviously on PC, uh, came with my GPU. We talked about it, but there is no cross play. So I can't jump in with you, which is really annoying.
00:36:17
Speaker
Concurred, concurred, concurred. And then I've also been playing some, uh, weird sports, some things, you know, you know, about my football manager exploits, uh, you and I have a mutual friend, uh, known to us as the beard, the beard, the beard who recently bought that game and has never played it before. And there's a, there's very few games.
00:36:46
Speaker
I actually overwatch is probably one of them that I would say have, uh, as steep of a learning curve as football manager does for a new player. Um, but it's a big steep learning curve. And so I've been trying to talk to him about some of that. And then honestly, uh, my like recent.
00:37:06
Speaker
Like just game that I'm playing while watching TV or something like that. I've been playing the F1 manager game because the F1 season starts in two days or two days when you're listening to this tomorrow. So nice. Yeah. So it's, it's here. It's here, boys. Watch some drive to survive on Netflix. And then you'll want to watch F1. I promise. Well, we are, you know, but if you're listening to this, we are in March.
00:37:35
Speaker
which means we are March madness three months away when March madness. Yes. It means we're three months away from June, which we, if it's anything like last year, I think playstations, uh, showcase was in May and the rest of them were in June. So we're getting closer to that, which means we're also getting closer to NCAA football coming out. We are indeed.

EA College Football Details

00:37:57
Speaker
So, which is not called NCAA football. I found out this week, EA sports.
00:38:03
Speaker
It's EA college football, EA college football so that they don't have the NCAA. I don't know. It's not part of the title for some reason. Maybe they didn't have to deal with it. They did announce some interesting stuff with that. Let me see if I could find that out. Um, uh, they announced
00:38:28
Speaker
Oh man. I think it's right here. It's right here. This is on sportspromedia.com slash news slash E8s. Okay, whatever. This is just from, I don't know, six days ago.
00:38:44
Speaker
The, it talks a little bit about the different, like how players can be in the game or not, whatever. A-sports is inviting NCAA football players to opt into the revival. It's called football game offering any eligible athletes, $600 for their name, image, and likeness. Athletes who sign up. Uh, and then I'll actually, it didn't say it on here, but they actually also get the game on, on their console of choice.
00:39:07
Speaker
Um, athletes who sign up will remain in the game for the entirety of their careers, although they will be able to opt out from future additions if they want all 134 FBS teams. So like division one teams basically, um, will be playable in the game thanks to a separate licensing agreement.
00:39:27
Speaker
and up to 85 players. So that means it's not, I don't know. That's a weird thing with NCAA. I thought that was strange. I feel like they had to probably deal with each individual school and it wasn't just like going to the NCAA and being like, Hey, can we use all your schools? And I don't know. Maybe they did it by conference or something. I don't know. But regardless, this is the interesting thing that I thought. Um, obviously if you want to opt in, you can be in the game for $600 and you get the council understanding. If you don't opt in though,
00:39:55
Speaker
It says, although the game will have a create a player option, EA has confirmed it will prevent users from adding players who have opted out of the initiative. That is what I found interesting because that's what you used to do on all the old NCAA games is it would come out and you would have random roster, not random rosters, but they would have like the stats of all the players, but they wouldn't look like it. They'd have random names, random numbers, whatever. And then you give it about a week or two and people had gone in there and.
00:40:22
Speaker
changed each player to look similar to what they look like. They're getting their number, their size, weight, whatever, all that kind of jazz. And then you just download the rosters and you'd have the real teams. And I just assumed in this or any player that opts out.
00:40:36
Speaker
You just just download the roster and put them in there, right? And the fact they confirmed you can create players, but it will prevent users from adding players who opted out initiative. Like, what does that mean? Does that mean like, as a Clemson fan, if our quarterback, Cade club, Mick is not going to be in the end, which he already said he is going to be. So whatever, but say he opted out.
00:40:59
Speaker
And I go to create a player and I just go to create Kade club. And it goes, Ooh, you can't use that name. What do you, what does it say? Like if I do Klayd Kubnick, is it going to be like, okay, you're good. I don't know. That's what I think. You're like, they're not going to, you're not. They're going to be like, all right, this six foot three white quarterback named Kade club, Nick, whatever his weight is or whatever, opted out. So you can't make a six foot three white.
00:41:27
Speaker
whatever his weight is, but you can make a six foot two, whatever. That's what I'm saying. You can just, you can maneuver it. And I bet they'll name barely. I bet it's just the name. I bet the name's the part of the six with, but I don't know. I just thought that was interesting. There's gotta be

Final Remarks on Gaming

00:41:42
Speaker
a way around that. You know, people are going to find a way around. Yeah. It's, I think it'll be, you can create somebody close enough for, if it's somebody like of significance, then you can just kind of create somebody will create them close enough. We can download, you can download that roster or whatever. Yeah. It's interesting.
00:41:58
Speaker
Um, any other final thoughts before we end this out? Man, video games are cool. We should play them. Bam. All right. We want to thank everybody for listening.
