This podcast is about leadership, business, and faith colliding in the most beautiful way And my hope is that each time you tune in, you leave with something practical to apply, something encouraging for your soul, and something that makes you feel less alone in this journey.

Overcoming Early Business Challenges

00:00:39
Speaker
Now I want to start off by a little confession. When I first started building my business, I did it all the hard way. I was glued to, well, when I first started my computer and my phone, you know, we talked, we didn't text back then when I started.
00:00:56
Speaker
So ah texting was new. um kind of saying my age here. But, you know, i was, and then what as it's progressed over time, you know, as social media has progressed, I, you know, literally I'm on my phone all the time.
00:01:13
Speaker
You know, I was answering every message in real time. I was posting, you know, content on midnight. I was, And I, you know, doing all this manually, chasing down leads ah manually. mean, while I'm also trying to raise my kids, I had three small kids at the time.
00:01:31
Speaker
And, um you know, military spouse for the military, you know, juggling, moving and all the things that come along with military lifestyle. And just a house that never seemed to stay clean as hard as I tried.
00:01:45
Speaker
You know, literally clean, work hard. And then as soon as the kids are up, it's like a tornado. Literally within like two seconds. it's And it's still like that, honestly, today. i have, um if you've been following me you know I have five children. And um we kind of had like our first set of kids, like our three older kids while we were younger. And then God surprised us with bonus baby number four and bonus baby five.
00:02:13
Speaker
um Huge blessing, but there's a 10-year age gap between our youngest of our oldest and our oldest of our youngest two.
00:02:24
Speaker
so That has been challenging in its own right, especially being older and having older children and then having younger children. It's been beautiful blessing and it's something that, you know, I've been trying to navigate too. But back when I first started, you know, I felt like I was kind of running on a hamster wheel, if you will, and There were nights I went to bed thinking, if this is what it takes to build a business, to build success, maybe it's just not worth it.
00:02:53
Speaker
I mean, obviously, that thought process was climp a um quickly fleeting because it's definitely worth it. But here's what changed everything for

Automating for Efficiency

00:03:04
Speaker
me. I stopped trying to do all the things myself, and I started putting simple systems in place from outsourcing things.
00:03:12
Speaker
I'm also... the overcoming, um what is the control freak, I guess you could say. you know And I wanted to do everything myself because I figured you know I could not seem to relinquish control of certain things.
00:03:30
Speaker
And it wasn't until I started learning that if I'm able to relinquish certain tasks, I could focus on the things that either are income producing, which those are the key, focusing on those income producing activities,
00:03:43
Speaker
and putting in systems in place that worked in the background so I didn't have to always do the heavy lifting in the business. you know And these systems gave me my time back, time back with my family that I wanted, um time to organize my kitchen if I wanted, you know and still grow my business.
00:04:05
Speaker
So today I wanna break down three simple automations that completely changed the game for me and systems that you can put in place as a busy mom you could create to create sustainable sales without the burnout, okay?
00:04:20
Speaker
Now, I didn't understand this process at first when I first started n um sales and working for myself and building a business is that I did not realize I should be capturing the leads that are coming in. You'd think that would been common sense, but I was just like, oh, I got a sale.
00:04:38
Speaker
um You know, and those are things you learn. you know, along the way, along the way, as i like to say, fail forward. So over the time I learned that ah I, you need a lead capture that works while you sleep.
00:04:54
Speaker
So having a lead capture, and that is just something that simply captures the people that either browse your website, um join your newsletter, have a newsletter option, opt-in, have the capability to capture their contact information so you can follow up with them in one way or another.
00:05:14
Speaker
It's just instead of chasing people, it's creating one simple way for people to find you um And that's maybe, you know, a free download, a simple quiz, or even a podcast podcast episode like this that invites them to take the next step with you.
00:05:31
Speaker
So for me, it was creating freebie that aligned with my audience's biggest needs. And instead of manually following up, I connected it to my email list. So every single person who grabbed it got an instant follow-up. you know There's no more copy and pasting in the DMs at midnight. There's no running to email them last minute. You have everything automatically set up. So a lead capture system is something you definitely need.

Building Client Trust through Automation

00:06:00
Speaker
Now, the second thing that you would need um but to kind of have these sustainable sales is to automated an automated nurture that builds trust.
00:06:15
Speaker
So this is your nurture system. So listen, people don't buy because you posted once or because you messaged them randomly. They buy because they trust you.
00:06:26
Speaker
And you need some type of automated email sequence. And that is just one of the easiest ways to build that trust while you're still living your life.
00:06:37
Speaker
It can be as simple as you know a three to five email like system that tells your story, shares value, and invites them to work with you or buy your products.
00:06:48
Speaker
um And the beauty is you write it once in the system, set it up once, and then it will continually work for you over and over again. Now you might want to tweak it based on you know, anything that's going on occasionally, you know, update it. But if you have this generic, you know, welcome email sequence to your newsletter or ah whatever type of system for your business, have that like set up once and you will never have to do it again. And it is nurturing those leads that are coming in to your business that want to get to know you. And this is a way to for them to get to know you.
00:07:26
Speaker
And um the third thing I recommend is a simple sales flow that feels good. And so here's what I mean by that. People need to know how to take the next step with you, whether it's a coaching program, a course, a product, um or a podcast launch package.
00:07:45
Speaker
You need one clear pathway. So I like to keep it simple and i link to apply or a button to book a call. No fancy You don't need a fancy funnel. You can do this with simple email CRM type systems.
00:08:01
Speaker
um But there's a couple out there like Flowdesk. um You can even do it Stand Store if you have that cap you have that option. um It's really inexpensive.
00:08:13
Speaker
And you don't really need this big elaborate system. You don't need that. That can be the later process if you're just starting out. Start small and then grow as your audience it grows, your contacts list grows, et cetera.
00:08:29
Speaker
So you don't have to spend a lot of money starting this, okay? You don't need a fancy funnel. You don't need 47 steps. You just need a clean, clear, easy path to work with you, Okay.

Balancing Business and Personal Life

00:08:41
Speaker
So here's what I need you to hear. You don't need to be available twenty four seven to build your business to success. You don't need to choose between raising your kids or raising a business.
00:08:53
Speaker
With simple systems in place, you can create the sustainable sales without sacrificing your sanity. And if you're not good with tech, outsource, outsource, outsource. You can find, and this is the one thing I had to let go.
00:09:07
Speaker
it's okay to let go for those that are OCD um control freaks like myself, it is okay to relinquish certain tasks to others to help you get your business going. Because if you're constantly stuck in that cycle of i need to do this, I need to get this, let's just outsource it for $20, $30 Fiverr or Upwork and Have someone else complete that task for you where you can focus on the meat of your business, the the the thing that's going to bring the money in, right?
00:09:44
Speaker
And if you allow yourself to to outsource those tasks so you can get those done, your business is going to scale faster and you're gonna be able to earn money faster by that way.
00:09:58
Speaker
um You know, even when I was in network marketing, I outsourced, when I started bringing in income, I started outsourcing the tasks that I made. I'm very creative. I love creativity. I love creating pretty graphics, but that's a time suck.
00:10:13
Speaker
I was not spending my time wisely with that. So I outsourced it. I hired somebody to do my newsletters for me. I gave them the meat. They put everything and made it pretty. Um, I outsourced to my VA so that they, um, when my newsletters are ready to publish, she, she did all of that for me.
00:10:33
Speaker
Um, you know, I outsourced my ads. I outsourced when I could. Um, you know, in the beginning I started, i grew slowly. So I did things myself. And then when I got to a point, I started outsourcing small things here and there. And then, um, as I grew and things got more where I couldn't handle it all, I outsourced them.
00:10:55
Speaker
So it is okay to, um yeah Outsource this information, outsource your task. It's okay. it it I'm giving you permission relinquish control of certain things so that you can do the tasks that only you can do to bring in the income.
00:11:17
Speaker
Now, and that's the heart of this. Your business should serve your life, not the other way around. So those automations, and when those automations start working for you, when you set up these systems, either yourself or you're outsourcing to a VA, you get to show up in the places that matter most.
00:11:36
Speaker
And whether that's the soccer game, the date night with you and your spouse and your phone's not blowing up, because let me tell you how many times, especially in month when I was in network marketing,
00:11:48
Speaker
And even when I was working on government contracts, so when we have contracts up and bidding, and even I slept on my phone beside my bed. And and the same with network marketing, I didn't go to sleep a month end. like I was on my phone constantly.
00:12:05
Speaker
Now, there's certain tasks you're going to have to you know do those things. But if I had a way, you know at in the beginning, i would have gladly put these up in the beginning of my business. But take it from me.
00:12:18
Speaker
I'm sharing things that I've learned along the way. So you don't have to either make the mistakes that I did and not not really necessarily mistakes or learning.
00:12:29
Speaker
um They were lessons, lessons. That's what I was looking for Lessons that I've learned along the way. and so you don't have to learn those hard lessons because I've already learned them for you and I'm sharing how to fast track your business. So,
00:12:43
Speaker
so and and that And you know, this is your business should serve your life, not the other way around.
