Introduction and Guest Welcome

00:00:37
Speaker
Welcome everyone to another episode of Open Mic with the MVP Marco. I am, of course, your host, the MVP Marco. We're going to get right to the next guest. This person has been on the show before. It's been a while. You know, I don't get to really talk too much about how a lot of
00:00:47
Speaker
Who the hell told you tonight was open mic night?
00:00:58
Speaker
the people that I follow, the people that I've cultivated relationships with, really, really motivate and really inspire, kind of like the things I do on this show.

Inspiration and Collaboration

00:01:10
Speaker
I draw a lot of inspiration from everybody that I interact with.
00:01:14
Speaker
Um, you know, obviously with, you know, Justin from the wrestling classic, uh, chick Foley, uh, Sheena, um, gold bars and hooks are John Lee. I've been, you know, collaborating with him a lot. Um, and obviously, you know, doing the show with turnbuckle tavern, um, and what my co-host J bone, uh, the raw down, you know, we, you, like I said, I kind of pull from all these different aspects and, um,
00:01:37
Speaker
You know, this person I have on Nexus is definitely one of those people that I draw inspiration from. I don't do what they do. I'm not talented enough to do what they do, but when I'm looking at their interactions on their social media page, on Instagram, for instance, and I see the comments, I see the ideas flow, and I see the admiration for
00:02:01
Speaker
this person, you know, kind of flow through and it, you know, it inspires me to like, continue doing this, you know, I kind of took a little bit of a hiatus for, you know, a few months, trying to, you know, just, you know, ran into Rotten Drow, you know, just kind of little on the wayside, you know, around really feeling what was going on with it. And, you know, I got a spark of interest after I, you know, I seen a lot of, you know, like I said, people that I

Speaker
follow. So,
00:02:24
Speaker
And this is one of those people I'm going to bring her on right now. It is none other than Over the Moonsault. Casey, how are you? I'm good. It's great to be back. I know, like you were saying, it's been it's been a little while. It doesn't feel like it. But yeah, I just kind of just flies by. But I'm so glad to be back. So thank you so much for inviting me.
00:02:44
Speaker
Yeah, no problem. You're out. Besides, you know, my last episode, I had the fig guys on those are, you know, Tom and Mike, they just separated. They, you know, they started their own, you know, you know, venture and stuff like that. So I want to have them on and I'm kind of, I want to bring back people that I, you know, had on before when I first saw the show. And you're definitely one of those beginning people that I reached out to and you, you know, you obliged and you,
00:03:08
Speaker
Hopped on the show and you've been on it. This is a third time actually. Yeah the show By yourself and then we had that Halloween episode, which one of my favorite episodes ever It was great yet, uh, you had seen a fangirling out over you, which is pretty uh, which is pretty funny You don't get to see that much. I see her do that that much So that was uh, that was very entertaining for me anyway, but um, how's everything been going? Like I said, it's been a while since we Talk to each other. So what's been going on in your world?
00:03:37
Speaker
I mean, it's just been, I can't believe we're already into August. It's just wild to me for 2024. Life has just been crazy in regards to personal life. And I feel like that's kind of reflected in my content too. I feel like I haven't made a lot of cosplays this year just because work itself has kind of overtaken
00:04:00
Speaker
Exactly. My little free time that I have. So I'm hoping I can get back into putting out more content. But yeah, like you were saying, it's hard. Sometimes you do have to take a little break because balancing like content creating and then also just enjoying wrestling, enjoying all of the wrestling that's out there. Sometimes you just want to enjoy it and not be focusing on another project on top of your personal and your work. And yeah.
00:04:28
Speaker
But I've been good, I've been good, loving life and just trying to roll with the punches as it goes. Yeah, same here with that, you know, like I said, with work, definitely, you know, some things, obviously with the shoot, shoot life, as we call it. There's a lot of things, you know, that that we have to deal with. And, you know, it kind of takes away from, you know, from what we do here, you know, as far as, like you said, content creation.
00:04:52
Speaker
whether it be like you said cosplaying, podcasting, collecting, whatever it is that you do out there. There are periods where you have to like kind of, you know, whether you want to or not, step back a little bit and, you know, kind of focus on real life. And then, you know, when the time is right, you hop back into it. And, you know, like I said, just draw inspiration. Like I said, I've just been, you know, just cruising through Instagram mainly and seeing like, you know, like I said, your page.

Women's Wrestling Focus

00:05:21
Speaker
the macho verse way. I frequently hit with him a lot. We're always chatting about something and sending each other stuff. So like, yeah, you know, just seeing his, his page and the stuff that you're doing that kind of like, it brought me back into like, all right, now I gotta get back into it. I granted I do a show every week. Uh, that's what, you know, yeah.
00:05:40
Speaker
But just this, like, I wanted to focus on this a little bit more and it felt like, you know, I was talking so much wrestling and I was just like, yeah, I don't want to do this. And then I kind of like stop for a little bit. But, you know, that stuff happens. It's like, like we always say it's, you know, the chick fully show and pretty much any show I ever were all regular people. We have regular lives, families and stuff like that. And, you know, we don't have the luxury of, you know, constantly putting this stuff out. So when we can be going to make the best of it. That's how I that's how I always look at it.
00:06:08
Speaker
Exactly. At the end of the day, we're just wrestling fans in a big community. We're not in that squared circle. We're just there to enjoy and appreciate. So we appreciate it all in our different ways.
00:06:18
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, definitely. Um, speaking of that, uh, you know, every time I, you know, I have a, uh, I have a lady like you on here on the show. I always ball up the question. How are you, how are you liking, you know, today's women's scene? Um, not just WWE, but all around. I know since we've last talked, it's been like a huge boom with women's wrestling. So, uh, I want to, you know, what, what are your thoughts on, you know, how it looks right now, where it's going, what you like, what do you dislike?
00:06:48
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. I feel like on all fronts, women's wrestling is really getting that appreciation. We're getting those storylines. And so it's been really great to watch. I am completely invested in the Tony Storm and Mariah May storyline. I feel like that's probably one of the best
00:07:07
Speaker
women's storylines right now and how it was built and it was just this slow burn that you knew was coming. And even when it came, you didn't expect it. So it's just so great to see that character development in both of them and then just how it's built up to this match. And so I'm really excited. So I feel like that's probably my favorite storyline right now in women's wrestling. And obviously there's other storylines that are out there, but it's just been great to see the strength
00:07:35
Speaker
in the women's wrestling and the showcasing of it. So it's been it's been awesome. Very, very happy, very different tune than what I was singing a couple of months ago. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Especially with the, you know, you know, it seems like the hottest angles right now are centered around, you know, women, like you say, with Toni Storm and Mariah May, you have Liv
00:07:56
Speaker
live in Rio are pretty much taken over. They kind of like, they kind of edging out the, you know, not that the bloodline storyline isn't good, but that whole, that whole judgment day scene that's happening is, I think it's kind of creeping up and becoming one of those like long-term, because there's so many different ways I can go with it. And at the forefront, it's live in Rio right now. They're the two ladies. They are selling it. Yeah. Yeah.
00:08:18
Speaker
They're killing it right now. And it's like I said, obviously I can see the excitement on your face. And as I'm talking about, I'm getting excited because, you know, coming off of SummerSlam and then going into Monday Night Raw and how they just effortlessly like continued the story. Yeah. Like it kind of like it was a continuation. It was pretty awesome.

Wrestling and Cosplay Intersection

00:08:36
Speaker
So that's great. But I think I think we do for I mean, you're probably getting ready to do it. I think I think we do for a timeless Tony Storm that her new version now, are you looking are you getting ready to
00:08:48
Speaker
Are you getting some ideas? Are you going with the high eyebrows? I don't know. The high eyebrows are kind of throwing me right now. I love how her character has developed. At first I was kind of like, when she was just that crazy manic woman, but how she's been able to just continually grow into her character.
00:09:08
Speaker
to where it's just so seamless. She's just so good with what she says and the promo she cuts and the personality and the drama behind everything she says and does is just amazing. But yeah, the high eyebrows, I'm like, okay. I was like, maybe she's diving into or shifting into a different era of
00:09:29
Speaker
makeup and within that timeframe for actresses, which I think is great. Like that's really awesome. It's kind of historical historically, keeping up with that. But I don't know if I'll do the high eyebrows. I already have high enough eyebrows.
00:09:45
Speaker
i did i do you know just like piggyback off of that you know the i forget the names of the movies i posted about it like you know maybe a month ago or so but you know they they're really pulling out of um there's technically two movies from like the you know the the 50s around that that around that era like the golden age of hollywood where uh there's their storyline pretty much mirrors exactly what this movie did where there was like a a big name atrix actress she had an understudy and
00:10:15
Speaker
you know as it's going along the understudy is you know being this you know sweet innocent person but at the same you know you come to find out she's really you know just trying to overthrow this big actress and become like the you know you know the sweetheart of it all so they pulled it off like perfectly it was beautiful yeah i'm looking forward to uh what happens at uh at the next pay-per-view and stuff like that so
00:10:37
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, it's you know, the ladies are the ladies are killing it right now. So I mean, you can't you can't do anything about it. I want to I want to kind of get into, you know, as far as you kind of brought it up, you know, not really get into, you know, not really being able to do a lot of cosplay and stuff like that. But I'm sure you've been like, you know, kind of watching, watching it, as I said, you know, I mentioned Macho verse.
00:11:05
Speaker
stuff like that. He has a lot of great interactions and stuff like that. What are you seeing with Causeway? Has it, since we've last spoken, has it like
00:11:16
Speaker
gotten bigger, has it been stagnant? How have you seen, how are you visioning it right now as you're watching? Well, yeah. Cosplay in general has really had an increase in participation, which is awesome. It used to just be little fanboys and girls at local cons, and now because of platforms like TikTok and Instagram,
00:11:42
Speaker
and reels and all that stuff people are able to create this content in cosplay and that's really allowing a wider audience base to kind of become familiar with the term because you know for a while that term was really an internal term kind of like how wrestling has some internal terms cosplay was really
00:11:59
Speaker
within that community of people who attended those like cons. So it really has increased visibility or visibility and allowed for more people to participate. It is hard if you're going into cosplay like as a content creator, I feel like because then you can't really focus much on the craft as as much as you would be putting out that content. So you do see a lot more like
00:12:25
Speaker
store-bought costumes or costumes that you know you get at like there's like easy cosplay.com and all these places where you can just buy the cosplay the wigs or whatever and put it on and then you can film your tiktoks and everything so there's a lot of faster paced cosplayers out there who are able to put out content a lot faster and those are the ones that are going to get a little bit more visibility but in terms of the wrestling cosplay community it's still rather small but it's been great to see
00:12:54
Speaker
how some of those people within the wrestling cosplay community have received the recognition that they deserve that Tim Han Rivera was the subway mania I mean having a whole article from on the New York Post like I see that incredible and then you know of course you mentioned Macho verse my friend Ashley and cosplay she's been working on her Cody Rhodes cosplay and just like
00:13:18
Speaker
just incredible work and craftsmanship and then of course Chris Wayne and Dark Locu like there's all these other cosplayers wrestling cosplayers that are really getting themselves out there they're getting that recognition they're getting those views and creating within the wrestling cosplay community so it's just great to see more you don't feel so alone
00:13:38
Speaker
or feel like you're the one person doing wrestling cosplays and nobody else. I mean, there's so many wonderful cosplayers who are putting it out there. And that's what I love it. Wrestling cosplay has always intertwined. I just feel like it's getting a bigger platform and getting more visibility, which is great.
00:13:56
Speaker
Yeah.

Local Wrestling Community Support

00:13:57
Speaker
I mean, you know, in a nutshell, wrestling is cosplay for the most part. I mean, obviously there's people that, you know, live the gimmick, you know, in their real lives, but at the same time it's.
00:14:13
Speaker
it's a cosplay. And I think that's why it marries so perfectly with wrestling because you're just living out, you're living through that character. And you actually did mention Chris Wayne. I had him on not a while back, but actually a few months back. And he spoke about that as well. He does his own
00:14:35
Speaker
because you kind of brought this up. There's a lot of people out there doing like faster cosplays. And he's one of those individuals that do his own. He creates this. He orders some stuff he said, but for the most part, it's him creating these costumes and stuff like that. I know, obviously, you're one of them. I know Marcho Versa, I think he said his wife.
00:14:55
Speaker
Yeah, that's pretty much all his his cosplay. So I think it's I've seen a lot more people, a lot more wrestling cosplay, but the ones I see and I'll actually have like, I think I'll have a few of them on in the future. But they have a lot of other things that they do, like they'll be the like artists as well. So they'll be doing like you, you do art as well as cosplay. So and then there's other people that do it, you know, like
00:15:25
Speaker
just like other different activities and things like that. Their sole focus isn't on cosplay, but that is part of that aspect. And I think, from what I see, I think that's what that's kind of getting to is you're going to have to have some type of other thing that you do. Like it can't just be constant cosplay. You're going to have to come up with some type of angle.
00:15:43
Speaker
And that's what I see. I mean, for me anyway, that's, you know, even doing this show, I'm like, man, I love doing interviews, but at the same time, I got to do something where I'm by myself and kind of like, you know, do commentary at some point. I get a, you know, just me, no one on the other side and just be talking about like, you know, I don't get to talk about AEW that much. I'd like to, you know, do that. So I might, you know, do like a quick drop of, you know, AEW topics or, you know,
00:16:09
Speaker
stuff in the new like wrestling news like talk about that type of stuff so i might you know there's there's other you know avenues that there's room to dabble exactly yeah and like i said i mean from the most part when i gather when i speak to everybody and i've had these interviews it's all a community obviously you have your you know
00:16:25
Speaker
your bad side of the community and the people that like to do negative things or say negative things. But then you have the majority is everyone. There's there's room for everybody to grow. There's room for everybody to move around. And like you said, especially with the cosplay community, you know, seems like there's plenty of room to grow. I wish I could do it personally. I wish I could have my own.
00:16:45
Speaker
Who says you can't? Who says you can't? I mean, I can't. I mean, I have some ideas. It would just be one, kind of like how Macho versus Focus is on Macho Man. I'd probably just do one. I'm thinking, I was telling actually Chris Wayne about this. I think I said it on the show. I was thinking of doing like Bad News Brown. I was thinking of going that route.
00:17:06
Speaker
But I'm not I'm not, you know, fit to walk around shirtless or anything like that. So definitely won't be doing that. Give it any time. If you are, you know, like I can't walk around shirtless either. I mean, oh, you know, Chris, Chris Wayne does. I mean, he walks around his room and reigns. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, we kind of joked about that. I was like, you have the hair. I was like, you have gorgeous hair. Yeah. You have a great body. You can pretty much shot. You can do all the HPK looks and just be fine. Oh, yeah. Yes. It's players that are very blessed.
00:17:36
Speaker
Like it's not fair, dude. How do you have all this stuff? Uh, he got it. We were joking. We were joking about that, but, uh, yeah, it's, I mean, it's, it's one of those things where, you know, I feel like everyone should at least try it and see how, see how it works out. Whether you're not, whether you're successful in it or not, doesn't, you know, it doesn't really matter to me. I mean, it's as long as you went out and did it.
00:17:57
Speaker
It's all for fun. Exactly. And at the end of the day, you're showing appreciation to the wrestler that you're cosplaying. You know, it's a wrestler that you like. It's a wrestler that you appreciate. And you're just cosplaying. It's the same as creating a poster for a show. You know what I mean? But you're just you are the poster. Yeah, no, exactly. Actually, no, that you actually just a question just popped into my head. So who would you like if you were to like stick to one
00:18:24
Speaker
character or one person to cosplay and that would just be your Give it going forward. Who would that be? Because I have an idea of who it would be but I want to hear your answer on I know you're gonna say Oh, there's so many different ones. I mean, yeah in particular that I think Myself and a majority people would probably have you do forever, but I'll let you answer that
00:18:47
Speaker
I think it's so difficult to stay and that's why I totally admire Macho verse for what he does because when you cosplay one person, like you're opening yourself up to more criticism because people will say like, oh, you're not doing this, right? You don't sound like this. You don't look like this or they wear it. So it's so much harder to just cosplay one person because that's when people start critiquing a lot more or analyzing a lot more, which I'm like, you're not doing it. So why are you?
00:19:15
Speaker
Yeah. But for me, oh, that's so difficult because I would love, love, love, love to cosplay. Like if I could cosplay Macho Man and do it at the caliber of having all the costs, I would do that because he has just such a huge wardrobe and everything he wore was just like just this huge colorful bombastic display. And I would love to cosplay Macho Man like and that'd be the only thing. But
00:19:46
Speaker
Ooh, I would say Kevin Nash. I love, like he has some really great looks too, Diesel. And then when he was, you know, in the NWO and like his, the red, the lone wolf like stuff, like all of his, it's so, and it's also very comfortable. Cause you know, you're just sporting some leather pants and a single

Current Wrestling Storylines Discussion

00:20:07
Speaker
underneath. I mean, why not? I love, I love Kevin Nash. So I think maybe if I could cosplay one person and do it well, maybe Kevin Nash.
00:20:15
Speaker
I think, you know, I think the majority of the people would, you know, I mean, from, you know, from the looks of it, I think the majority of people would pick you to do Rhea Ripley constantly. That's what I mean, from the comments and everything. Yeah, it's just I don't know what it's. Yeah, I mean, it's it's you're pretty much the only I mean, I think I've seen other. There's some great ones out there. Yeah, there's other good ones out there. But I mean, you do you can do all the looks. It looks like it's I mean, yeah, I think.
00:20:42
Speaker
She's difficult because of the tattoos. I think that's tattoos. And and she's constantly changing up her look, which is that is very true harder. Like I've I've actually cosplayed Rhea one, two, three, I would say like four times already, which is crazy. And each time I've had to kind of modify because I think I've only done a full out Rhea when I did the the full like get up with the tattoos and everything.
00:21:09
Speaker
After that, I was like, the tattoos were so difficult. I she kept getting more and I was like, I.
00:21:15
Speaker
I can't. It was so difficult. So as much as I'd love to cosplay Rhea all the time, she's constantly changing, which I love her for that. Like, I love that she's always evolving her gear and her look and her persona to fit with what she's going through in the storylines and just as a person. It's been really great to see her evolve just in a short amount of time. But yeah, I would love to cosplay her, but she's just so difficult.
00:21:43
Speaker
It's harder than cosplaying Macho Man. I could probably cosplay Macho Man faster than I could cosplay another real... I mean, that's true. Yeah, that is very true. And I know that I have met a couple that you've... I mean, since we've even spoke or seen, I know you've done Brutus the Barber Beefcake. Yeah. That was a really awesome one. How long did that one... Obviously, I mean, I'm assuming you did it from the ground up. So it was that process.
00:22:11
Speaker
surprisingly not as difficult. I did buy a couple of pieces and modify them like the pants. I bought a pair of leggings and then I cut them and sewed them together with all the little openings and then the shirt was a pre-bought shirt but I cut it up and then added all the fringing to it. So it really didn't take long. It actually took me two months just because I would work one weekend and then I would stop working on it.
00:22:34
Speaker
So that was that was always really hard. But I knew I wanted to put it up when that Dark Side episode came out. Like when I knew they were going to do a Dark Side episode, I was like, OK, I have a deadline, so I'll work through it. So I kind of went backwards from there. I was like, OK, I'll start now so that way I can take the pictures this weekend and then it'll be ready to do so that sometimes when I have something particular that I'm wanting to do, I'll work backwards and say, OK, this is how much time I have to work on it.
00:23:03
Speaker
Yeah. But obviously time gets away from you quickly. Yes, exactly. That's why I've only done like, I think it was about, I think I've only done about four or five this year, which I mean, I if you think about it, that's still quite a lot of cosplays. But I think that first year I started doing cosplays back in the pandemic time, I think I did like 13 or 14. I had the time.
00:23:26
Speaker
Yep. Yeah, no, I mean, yeah, we all had. We all had time. So exactly. So it's hard not to compare like from years previous, like, oh, like I did this many cosplays and now I'm like, oh, I did this many cosplays. But I think my level of craftsmanship has changed over the years, too. I would try to do a lot simpler cosplays just to get them out like I was mentioning earlier. But now I'm focusing more on quality over quantity.
00:23:55
Speaker
Yes. Like, for example, I'm almost done. I'm like 95% done with my Brody King. And I've been working on that one since like last fall. I'm just waiting on like two pieces to kind of finish up. And then I've already been in the talks with a photographer so we can take the pictures. So yeah, exactly. So I'm ready for it. But I've been
00:24:17
Speaker
very, very

Creative Questions and Wrap-Up

00:24:18
Speaker
particular with this one because I want to do it justice. And so I usually do that. I'll pick one cosplay that I'm like, this is a dream one that I want to do and I want to do it right. Yeah. So that one's definitely one I'm excited about.
00:24:31
Speaker
That, I mean, you talk about Rhea's tattoos. Oh, gosh. Brody King. Yeah. He has a lot more than, well, he might not. I don't even know. Probably an equal amount. But he does have a lot of tattoos. He's also shirtless. So I had to figure out a way to get around that, which I did. And I'm actually really proud of the way it looks. And figuring that, like, I love to problem solve. So I'm like, OK, he has a lot of tattoos.
00:25:01
Speaker
can't have a lot of tattoos so I got to figure out a way to make it look like I do so it's a lot of fun problem solving and trying to figure out okay how will this look and how will this photograph uh so yeah I figured it out I'll have tattoos wait that's it that's that's gonna be awesome I can't wait to see that
00:25:19
Speaker
Have you, I mean, I've seen, you know, you've done some appearances and things like that. So I kind of want to talk about that. But have you done like, have you done any like, you know, appearances at cosplay events or anything that we haven't seen that you haven't posted about yet?
00:25:35
Speaker
not yet you know honestly um there i did one con like last summer uh yeah and i was invited and it was great i was really grateful for the opportunity but i just didn't i didn't fit you know what i mean like i i just feel like people didn't understand who i was or why i was there because it was a it was a completely different theme
00:25:59
Speaker
And I was like, I'm a wrestling cosplayer. So I didn't quite fit that theme. So I'm waiting for an opportunity. I really want to try to get out of Texas and try to go just to attend one of those bigger con events that I know that like Chris Wayne goes to quite a few of them. He's like, you need to come up to New York Comic Con and and all that stuff. I was like, I feel like I need to go to cons that other wrestling cosplayers are going to. Yes. Yeah.
00:26:26
Speaker
So there's strength in numbers and I'll feel a little more included in that. So I haven't done those yet, but I think that that's the next step for me is to start connecting and networking with people within the wrestling community. But I know I can't do it quite yet here locally. I'm trying, but.
00:26:45
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, definitely. Like, you actually just brought up a good point. Like, I feel like nowadays, and I kind of talked about this before I brought you on was, I feel like you have to, you know, collaboration is kind of like, key nowadays. So like, be able to, you know, obviously, you can do a lot of things on your own, but at the same time, you need
00:27:03
Speaker
You need, you know, need kind of like a team, uh, to, you know, to kind of like boost you up a little bit. Um, then, you know, I think that's, it's not a, it's not a bad way of going about like how you do your business. Um, I mean, for me anyway, like I said, a lot of this stuff I, you know, post nowadays I'm collaborating with, like I said, gold bars and hooks or, you know, the wrestling classic or, um, you know, we're, we're sharing each other's posts and things like that. And that, and that only brings more eyes on, um, you know,
00:27:33
Speaker
your yourself as well as, you know, their their pages and stuff like that, too. So I think that I mean, I think I think you would definitely go about the right way, you know, trying to, you know, connect with as many people as you can. I mean, I feel like, you know, if I wanted to get into that, I could with the amount of like I said, no, and march over.
00:27:50
Speaker
Chris Wayne. Yeah. Well, I mean, they get they'll get the foot the door right there. So and they kind of encourage it to like, you know, when I was like, hey, I'm thinking of doing like, like, yeah, man, go ahead. Go for it. That'd be great if you could do something like that. You know, if they're always going someplace, are you going to be there? And I'm like, I have no.
00:28:06
Speaker
business being any of those uh any of those rooms you guys like what would i mean i would go to one just uh you know experience it but i mean i'd just be out of place because i wouldn't be you know wearing anything but uh yeah i think it's i think it's one of those things like going forward is you know you definitely need that kind of like you know boost from the people around you and the people that are within your community and i think that'll definitely go a long way yeah
00:28:33
Speaker
And I see it. I do want to point out you did a Wendy Richter. And that was that was an awesome. That was an awesome display, too. I mean, I wasn't expecting that. I think I think the only person I seen do a Wendy Richter was.
00:28:49
Speaker
Was it Sheena? Chick-fil-A that she did it for Halloween when she was Wendy Rector? I think she's the only person besides you that actually seen pull off a Wendy Rector. Is that something that you created from the ground up yourself or did you buy pieces for it?
00:29:05
Speaker
I bought pieces. I'm definitely if I can save myself some time on on pieces that I can modify, I will do it. So I found like the perfect bodysuit on Amazon. And I'm like, I can do this. And so I painted it, but I did like hand sew and hand make the the elbow and knee pads. I teased up the hair. I made the jewelry like
00:29:27
Speaker
So yeah, it was a lot of fun putting that together. I've been wanting to do a Wendy Richter cause and that particular one like WrestleMania, the first WrestleMania like that was the look I wanted to replicate. And so it was great to finally find the pieces I needed to be able to hand paint all the little designs. It was great. I was very happy with it.
00:29:50
Speaker
No, that's awesome. I think, uh, uh, which leads me into my next, you know, thing I did see you did, um, uh, Sherry, Sherry, um, that, but that also coincides with you are actually at a, uh, is that a local, uh, wrestling, um,
00:30:09
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. So I met some new friends locally within the community. They had started a local podcast, Lucha Por Lucha, and it's Mel and Alvaro Rios. Alvaro is actually the Spanish commentator for AW. And so, yeah, so he's from here. He's from the valley. And he he decided to start this podcast to kind of give a platform for the local wrestlers to have them come on.
00:30:36
Speaker
and interview and all that stuff. So they actually had me on and that was really great. So I got to connect with them and then their dream was to eventually create like a show. They just wanted to put on a show and bring in some talent from like AEW and all that stuff to work with the local wrestlers. And so they created Fortuna Wrestling and that they put on the first show and it just was so successful. They put on another show. And then after that show, they were like, Hey, do you want like,
00:31:04
Speaker
to play a part in it. And I was like, I guess. So I was just so grateful to both of them for for even thinking of having me be a part of it. And at first, it was just going to be like, oh, like maybe you could talk to some of the like wrestlers that we're bringing in. So I got to talk to Emmy Sakura. I got to talk to Chase Owens, which I was like,
00:31:26
Speaker
I am not an interviewer, but I tried my best. I was so nervous. But then right before the show, it was literally the day before the show, they were like, hey, would you want to come into the ring and present the crown? We're going to have this battle royale.
00:31:42
Speaker
crown winner and I was like, um, okay. So I had to like practice getting in the ring with my costume on and stuff. And, oh, that was so nervous. I can't, I was like, thank you for the opportunity. I'm never going to do it again. Like it was so nerve wracking, but I was so grateful for the opportunity. I never in my life thought I would step into a wrestling ring. And so to be able to do that in cosplay, to be a part of it, to, to be,
00:32:10
Speaker
just a showcase in that, in that match and in that part of the show, I was, I'm forever grateful to both of them. They're just such great people. Um, and what they're doing for our local wrestling community is just fantastic. So yeah, but will I do it again? I don't know. Well, that's, I was going to be in my next question. Like how it, how did that, like, how'd that process look? Like, were you, like you said, were you there from the, you were there before the show started all the way up till the finish?
00:32:38
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah, because they they put on two shows previously, like they're they're an inaugural show and then they did like a two to show a couple of months prior. And then this one, they had contacted me before they were going to start putting the show together and they asked if I wanted to participate. I was like, yeah, sure, whatever. But then as we were getting closer to the week of the show, they're like, hey, like, would you want to do this? And I'm like,
00:33:00
Speaker
okay, like, yeah, I'll do the interview part. And then the day before they had me come over to Sinnoh Ray, it's this historic building. And they're like, Hey, like, would you want to like do this and present this and say this? And I'm like, Oh, you're throwing a lot of things at me. I just thought I was coming in cosplay and
00:33:18
Speaker
So they were very gracious and trusting that I would do okay. I lost a shoe, Marco. I was getting in the ring, my shoe fell, I was able to slip it back on, but I was like, oh, that's it. That tells me I was not supposed to be in the ring. They make it look so easy to slip in and out of the ropes, and it is not. When you're in heels in a dress that you're like,
00:33:43
Speaker
Oh my god. That was the most nerve-wracking part, the actual putting on the crown and everything was fine. But yeah, I was just very grateful for that. And we're already kind of talking about the next show. And I'm just happy to just support them. I just want to support local wrestling. I think I started all the way back
00:34:04
Speaker
like watching WWE documentaries and dark side of the ring. And then I started watching AW and I started working and now I'm getting into the local wrestling scene. So I kind of worked my way backwards. And it's been great to just get to know these local wrestlers, see what they're going through and seeing the process like. Yeah.
00:34:22
Speaker
I just already had an appreciation for wrestling, but now getting into the local wrestling scene, it's you just gain even more appreciation for the people that put their lives like in that ring all the time for the sake of entertainment. Yeah, definitely. Yeah. So it's been great.
00:34:39
Speaker
Yeah, we actually, you know, there's a there's a we have a local wrestling company called chaotic wrestling. And it's, you know, it's it's probably it's probably the one of the biggest one around here in in mass in New England, I should say it's like pretty much all of New England. And a lot of people like if you go to there, you know,
00:35:00
Speaker
their website you see their alumni page like like pretty much who's who of everybody has been through that rank like I think like um Sasha Banks Mercedes Monet um Cody Rhodes at one point was there Kofi Kingston um I want to say Ricochet I have to go through it again um Sebastian Ciampa
00:35:20
Speaker
Um, I mean, a lot of those names are off, you know, Kofi's from, from my home state, Mercedes is from my home state as well. So like, but they all came up through those ranks. So usually every, this actually a couple of weeks ago, um, they do, I mean, they do shows every, pretty much every other week. Um, but it's, it's all local towns. Uh, but they do one at, uh, at this brewery called, uh, um, night shift brewery and it's in Everett, Massachusetts. And it's called owl mania. It's cause the logo of the.
00:35:50
Speaker
that Jeff Bruy is an owl. So it's their fourth iteration of it. So it was owl media four. And me and my buddies attended it. And that was like the first time I actually said, you know what, I'm gonna like...
00:36:02
Speaker
try to talk to somebody to see how I can help them interview some people, that type of stuff. So I ended up talking to the social media person, the one that runs their social media accounts. I ended up talking to the photographer. The guy was pretty much running around the rig the whole show, taking pictures and things like that. I ended up meeting the guy that owned
00:36:24
Speaker
owned it at the whole company, they own Chaotic Wrestling. That's awesome. You get a better appreciation for, like you said, local wrestling. Especially when you get to see it up close, because most of those shows you can get front row seats, which we always do. We always get front row. The interaction is great. It's great family fun. There's kids there too as well. So it's not like all adults. It was at a brewery, so anyone that was there in attendance,
00:36:52
Speaker
was like, you're there for the show or you were there to drink and be like, oh, what the hell is going on? Yeah. Oh, wow. Like the crowd, like by the by the end of the night, it was like literally, I think everyone at that place was like watching. That's going on. So I think, yeah, like you said.
00:37:08
Speaker
Another huge, you know, love for, you know, local wrestling. I think that's one of those things that I've always wanted to get into. I've had to heal Liz on the show before. Oh, yeah. She's very involved with with her in SoCal, Southern California. She's very involved in that scene and stuff like that, too. So I also have there's also at the Turmbuckle Tavern, Acefield retro is his name. He he does
00:37:35
Speaker
he does announcing for uh for a lot of local different local uh wrestling things something that I couldn't do that I would not separate the ring and announce all night long that would be you know that would be the death of me right there it's nerve-wracking yeah that's why it's like you you appreciate like it's like it takes a lot of people to to have a show and to put on a good show yep
00:37:58
Speaker
um so when you're there and you're like oh my gosh like yeah there's somebody ringing the bell there's refs there's you know the talent there's the announcers like there's all these components that you need in order to keep your audience engaged for that however two hour three hour show that you're there for and so
00:38:15
Speaker
to be able to even get a glimpse of the behind the scenes work that goes into it is just incredible. And that's why it's so cool to see it at a local level. And you see the big one and you don't realize how much is going behind those huge productions. And then so when you get to see it at that local level, you really, really appreciate everybody who's in that building.
00:38:40
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You definitely have to, you know, you see the, you get to see like the, you know, the sound people working on the sound and stuff like that, you know, they still have a production. So they have to hit the music. They have to make sure, you know, the speakers are working right. The ring, the rings, you know, obviously, you know,
00:38:56
Speaker
working well so yeah another thing yeah yeah it's a lot you know obviously it's a lot more intimate so there's a lot you know you're you're really close if you haven't been to like you know obviously you've been to those shows and you can sit very close to it so like there's there's room for error someone can give her that type of stuff so you have to watch out for that i think i went the last one we went to last year um they did a spot it was like a there was like a hardcore match or something they just spot like right in our area so like
00:39:21
Speaker
Right when they're like fighting outside the ranking. We've seen him go like this to us and we're like, yep, yep, let's go. Everybody gets out of the way. Let's go. I'd say do this. Yeah. I ran into that a few times. Actually, I've told the story like a million times, but not sure I told you so. Actually, 2014, was it a 13? It was WrestleMania weekend. I think, yeah, I think it was at WrestleMania with the Rock and
00:39:45
Speaker
scene of their second time having a match. We went to the show called P.W.S. Pro Wrestling Syndicate, and it was a retirement match of a new Jack. Oh, wow. If you know who. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I saw the dark side. So so earlier you did they did like meet and greets and stuff like that guy dress like like really nice, like, you know,
00:40:10
Speaker
Top hat nice suit and everything like would even tell it was new jack at all. Um, I think To this day he wanted me to do a spot In uh in that match because when I was doing the degree with him, uh, I took a picture with him everything like that He's like, you know when he's talking he's like he's like hey, man He's like he's like you look you look fit and you like do you wrestle or anything like that? I'm like, no, not really. He's like, oh, all right He's like kind of like trying to size me up. I'm like, oh no if he asked me to be
00:40:40
Speaker
I'm scared to say no to him. That's the other part of it. Yeah, that's true. If he does ask me do I say no dang if you do dang if you don't yeah But they ended up I'm not sure if he remembered me I'm kind of rewriting my own history, but he did I do have the video so that you know he says he has his hardcore match and He's fighting neck row butcher if you ever seen him before you can look him on look him up on YouTube They're obviously bleeding profusely all over the place. He
00:41:08
Speaker
uh we were sitting front row they're like fighting everything you know using staplers staple guns all that all that stuff light tubes smashing each other over the head all that fun stuff they're fighting outside and literally he grabs an echo pitcher and throws him like over like almost lands on me so like the whole front row literally just gets up and when you watch the video it's just like everyone in synchrocity just gets up and just runs to the back oh yeah
00:41:35
Speaker
Oh, the thing is they're just bloods, they're just bloods flying everywhere. All over the chairs, the folded chairs are all over the place. One of my friends, one of my friend's girlfriends was there at the time. She's, you know, she's a photographer. So she's trying to like snap all these pictures of like, everyone's up and running. And she's still standing there, like in front of her, like yank her out of the way. But yeah, yeah.
00:41:58
Speaker
Yeah, I don't want to get involved in those those types of local wrestling shows. That'll be to get that. But is there something that would you ever consider? I mean, you said you want to get back in the ring, but if they ask you, like, hey, would you like to be a special valet or anything like that? Would you consider doing it or are you just like, yeah, my in-ring career is done?
00:42:17
Speaker
I've learned my lesson, non-speaking roles and heels that are permanently attached to my feet are important if I want to get in the ring again. So yeah, I mean, a managerial position would be kind of cool. I really did enjoy doing the interviews. I was very nervous about it.
00:42:36
Speaker
Yeah. But, you know, both Chase and Emmy were just such wonderful people and very open to my question. I kept them very short and sweet. And I was like, yes. So I would definitely love to do that more. I think that that was a lot of fun. And I think that I could excel in that if I if I really had more time to really to really kind of research and do stuff with that. But yeah, I mean,
00:43:07
Speaker
and cute outfits. Why not?
00:43:09
Speaker
Yeah, no, actually, I mean, it just being like a kind of like a sideline reporter or something. Yeah, I think that'd be pretty cool. I mean, I wouldn't mind doing things like that as well. Even macho verse, he reached out to me because, you know, like a few months ago, he did a a Q and a with a rikishi. Oh, you know, you reach out to me and he was like, hey, you have any like pointers? I'm like, I mean, I'm like, I'm the flatter that you reach out to me and ask me, you know, because he that was one of the things he loved.
00:43:39
Speaker
like being on on the show like he was like uh he he was like that thing you know not to toot my own heart but he was like he's like this is one of the greatest experiences i've ever had like one of the best interviews he's like i loved it blah blah so like you we've got from there on we've just been like you know conversing he asked me like yo what do you have any points i'm like
00:43:56
Speaker
just be yourself, man. I was, I just, you know, obviously you're gonna have questions to ask him, but you know, just, you know, just act natural. Don't go. I'm obviously going to mark out a little bit because it's the Kishi, but I'd probably do the same thing, but at the same time you get to like, just let it.
00:44:13
Speaker
Just let it flow, dude. Just, you know, get your questions out. But at the same time, you know, try to keep the conversation going. Don't don't don't try to be too nervous. That's what. Yeah. That's what I try to tell them. But I did see I did see your interviews and that you are. You could see you're a little bit nervous, especially especially with Chase. Yeah. So I did see that. Are you a fan of Chase? Are you like? Well, no, I just knew the like I knew he was a new Japan wrestler and I had done some research and I was like, oh, man, this guy is
00:44:44
Speaker
He's really accomplished. And I'm like, here I am, like, little old cosplayer me. And I'm like, oh, God. And so as he's walking up the stairs, because I interviewed up on the balcony area, I was like, oh, God. I was like, I don't like all my questions just went like just disappeared. And I was like, I don't know what I'm going to say. I'm going to sound like such an idiot.
00:45:04
Speaker
But like, again, he was just so, so sweet and so polite. And at the end of the interview, like at the end of the show, like he was like, Oh, like, you know, I thanked him again. I was like, it was just such an honor to meet you. And he was like, Oh, like, well, who did the research for the questions? And I was like, I did.
00:45:20
Speaker
And he was like, he was like, you did your homework. And I was like, that was the biggest compliment to me. I was like, OK, if I didn't sound like an idiot or didn't sound like I didn't know what I was talking about, that was just a huge compliment. So, yeah, I was I was just nervous because I didn't I could tell the caliber of wrestler he was. And it was like, yes, I just don't want to ask anything that would offend him or ask anything that would be like, this is a stupid question. Why are you asking me? So it was more in me in my head than anything.
00:45:48
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. The good thing is, you know, you get a lot of those, you get to see a lot of those interviews nowadays where it's just, you know, being interviewed by people outside of their organization. So you get to see them as they're just regular, you know, human beings and they, you know,
00:46:04
Speaker
they have, you know, fears and hopes and dreams and all that type of stuff. So when you see that human side of it, I think it's I think it makes it easier for some, you know, for some people when they do go into an interview, it's like, okay, I recognize that he's like this, so I can or she's like this, I can go in there and, you know,
00:46:21
Speaker
try my best at making it a fun interview, but at the same time, I think the nerves are going to kick in. For sure. I guess I'll probably do the exact same thing. It is weird because when I do see some people up close, like when I took my son to
00:46:38
Speaker
They the holiday show the WWE holiday show last last year at the end of last year and they're like, yeah We got like the VIP section. So we're like right at the entrance like watching everybody come down stuff like that and it like I didn't like really
00:46:54
Speaker
dawn on me that I'm like seeing these people like this close like they walk right by me like you know Rhea Ripley watch her entrance in person like that that close um uh Seth Rollins walking up we had a sign it was my Sunday it was his first ever you know WWE house show so my wife uh made us made up a sign that said yo this is my first WWE house show
00:47:17
Speaker
And it had like check boxes, like go to the VIP thing, you know, go to the first show. And then the last one was have this signed by, you know, whoever. So like anyone that walked by, like, you know, like Seth Rollins came by, he signed the sign for it. Well, Cody Rhodes, obviously, he like walked around like after his match. He literally just did the whole round. Like he didn't cut away from anybody. I think everybody in the front rows where he signed everyone and took pictures, which is really awesome. Yeah.
00:47:47
Speaker
Ricochet did the same thing. He signed my son's book then Becky Lynch at the end of her match. She comes over She signs in she's like Merry Christmas little buddy time. I said I was like, holy crap. She Becky Lynch just said Merry Christmas to you. He's just like He's like whatever I don't know that that that he doesn't like her. It's just like oh he wasn't like really he didn't really yeah, he's not processing your yeah, but yeah, so like but even me I was just like I
00:48:14
Speaker
I wasn't really starstruck by it, but it was just like, holy shit, they're right in front of me. This is weird. It wasn't like, oh my God, what am I going to do? You get act natural. But yeah, those instances, like I said, it was like a one-on-one thing. I'd probably do the same thing you did. I'd probably be stammering and stuttering.
00:48:35
Speaker
not knowing what the hell to say. Yeah, exactly. I want to actually like circle back on something because you you brought up like, you know, you know, doing stuff in heels and stuff like that. And just a random thought. Does that ever pop into your mind when you watch like a Bianca Belair or Charlotte run down to the ring in heels, get into the ring and actually fight? I don't move and pull off stuff in heels like they don't kick them off for the most part. They just do it.
00:49:04
Speaker
Yeah. Sometimes he'll be barefoot, but most of them, yeah, they're like full on stomping down. And I'm like, I don't know. I don't know. They must trust those heels for their life. I bought mine on clearance. I was like, these are not going to hold me up if I try running in them.
00:49:22
Speaker
They're like running around the ring. They're like freaking, like you said, they stomp it down the, and like for the most part, I think like, I think the only person I ever seen like Charlotte, she'll do it, but like Bianca Belair keeps her heels on when she's like fighting in the ring. She skips herself down the entrance way in heels and I'm like, girl.
00:49:40
Speaker
How was she not going to like, I'd be like afraid to roll my ankle or something like that. If I was to lose a toe too. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. I did. I actually did see a video during the summer slam weekend when I think like Rhea Ripley was walking out. She had these like high platform. Yeah. And she's having his Damien helping. Yeah. She's like, she's like trying to like, I'm like, is that I mean, I mean, she probably won't be running down the rank of those. Oh, absolutely not.
00:50:09
Speaker
But uh and try not to anyway, we don't need any uh need any more injuries. We don't need all the uh on the uh injury list. Yeah, definitely not um Other than that, I would you know, so as far as you know, what are your
00:50:25
Speaker
What do you, you know, you're coming kind of like solely getting back into, you know, you know, create, like you said, more, you know, uh, quality over quantity when it comes to the causeway, which I, I definitely agree with. That's why, you know, I kind of took a hiatus and said, Hey, I don't want to do this as a weekly show. I want to like, you know, reach out to people.
00:50:44
Speaker
And, you know, whether I get them or not, that's fine. And then, you know, maybe in between, like I said, do my own, do like a solo show or something like that. But what do you, what's your mindset at now as far as, you know, content creation and, you know, and cosplaying? Are you full speed ahead? Are you still slowly getting back into it?
00:51:06
Speaker
I'm slowly getting back into it. Like I said, I've been trying to focus on the quality of what I'm producing and making sure it's something that I'm happy with because I'm a perfectionist and I don't like to just throw things out there, just kind of piece it together last minute. So if it only takes, you know,
00:51:27
Speaker
a couple of cosplays a year, then that's what I'm going to have. But I I've been enjoying my wrestling journey up to this point, you know, like being able to go to more shows, being able to participate more locally and and supporting in that sense. So I'm just finding other ways to enjoy wrestling, but I'm not going to stop doing cosplay. Like, of course not. Like, it's something that I enjoy doing and I want to continue doing.
00:51:53
Speaker
So there's plans. And so now it's more of a focus of, OK, if I'm going to create this cosplay, am I going to wear it to something? Or maybe I can start planning to go to an event where I can actually showcase all those cosplays that are currently in my closet. Because I don't know why a lot of us cosplayers feel like we can only wear it one time for a picture and then never wear it again. So I want to get out of that too and just be able to take these cosplays and actually wear them to events and wear them to things.
00:52:21
Speaker
Um, where I know I'm going to be happy wearing them and people will appreciate them. So it's looking for more opportunities like that. Like, yeah, exactly. Um, and I think, uh, you know, definitely would like to see more Seth, uh, from you. I mean, like you said, I know the next thing that you said that, you know, birdie kink is definitely going to be something, uh, pretty insane. And yeah, I think like if you're focusing on those, like,
00:52:47
Speaker
those, those, uh, more, like you said, more quality driven, um, causeways, I think it's, you know, for me, it's worth the wait anyway, as far as a, you know, being a fan of yours and watching, you know, seeing the stuff that you do, I definitely, you know, I'm not opposed to you, you know, taking the time to really focus on, on one thing and then, you know, you're doing it and execute it the best way you can. Um, that's how I look at it anyway. Um,
00:53:14
Speaker
The other thing I want to ask is, because you kind of brought this up, focusing on wrestling and stuff like that, is there anything that you're really interested in now? I know we talked about the ladies and how they're doing, but what are the aspects? I know a lot has changed since we've spoken as far as
00:53:34
Speaker
who owns WWE, who's running it now. Same thing with AEW. There's a lot of things happening over there as far as, I'm not sure about leadership, but you see the Shane McMahon thing happening and all that stuff. What's keeping you interested right now besides what the ladies are doing? What's piquing your interest in wrestling? I mean, there's a lot more of it. Yeah, no, for sure.
00:54:01
Speaker
Um, I think for sure. Um, I'm actually, I'm very surprised because I am not the, oh, don't hate me. I'm not the biggest CM punk fan. Like there's not a lot of people that are either likely you either like them or you don't.
00:54:16
Speaker
Exactly. He's very polarizing, but I'm actually very invested in their storyline right now currently. Drew McIntyre, I absolutely love that man. He could be the biggest A-hole in the world and he's still so lovable. He's just such a great heel. He's such a great baby face. He's such a great champion when he is. He is so good.
00:54:41
Speaker
He is what's keeping me really invested in that storyline. You know, CM Punk, I could move. But I do see how his personality and his polarizing personality divides people. So it's like you're either rooting for him in this storyline or you're rooting against him. But either way, you're invested to see what's going to happen next. Yeah. So that's definitely a storyline I'm like super invested in. Roman coming back again.
00:55:08
Speaker
don't hate me. I'm not a big Roman fan either, but him coming back was just like, Oh, okay, cool. Like we're going to finally see where this bloodline thing is going to go. Like this, you know, I'm ready to see those chapters kind of wrap up. So
00:55:25
Speaker
Yes. Yeah. You know, I'm not going to press you on the CM Punk thing because CM Punk is one of those guys where you had to be around at the beginning, like when he first, you know, when he was an ROH and then, you know, he made his way into WWE. I think you had to be there at the beginning of that whole thing to understand
00:55:45
Speaker
what he is because if you were to you know if you're just coming into wrestling and you know after 2014 he's pretty much gone after wrestling forever uh up until now anyway or actually a few years ago but like always you would have heard of like how horrible he is you know he's a curmudgeon he hates everybody he hates blah blah blah like just shits on things and um
00:56:09
Speaker
I think he has like a, if you are a fan of him, you understand like there is like, you understand he's just a, it's, it's, he is polarizing at the same time. It's he's very.
00:56:20
Speaker
set in his ways and he's very straightforward it seems like and a lot of people don't like you know people that know what they want um they don't fall into you know they don't believe whatever you say or they're not gonna you know just follow anybody to do it they want to be the leader i think he's that he's that type of person and that rubs
00:56:40
Speaker
People the wrong way too and he's a I mean at the same time he's a charmer to some too. He's like, yeah You can see you can see the charm that he puts like same thing with Drew McIntyre Obviously people love Drew McIntyre, but he also has that charm as well Like you said he could be the biggest a-hole on the planet. But at the same time he has a charm to him Yeah, but you still like him It's very strange hard not to
00:57:04
Speaker
Yeah, I will press you on the Roman Reigns thing. I do got to ask, why don't you like, not that you have to, I don't care whether you do or not, but like, what is it that you're not a big fan of? Do you not see the, like the aura, like the, as people, like everyone says, oh, the kids say nowadays, you don't see his aura. You don't see the, you know, are you more, what did you, let me ask you this. When did you come into seeing Roman Reigns? Like, what did you expect?
00:57:31
Speaker
Yeah, I think that's what what has me not really like, like kind of over it. Because if you think about it, when I started watching wrestling, it was right at the pandemic and who was being forced down the whole time. Yeah, it was Roman Reigns, him and and then Sasha Banks and Bailey. Like, yes, they care. I mean, kudos to them. They carried they carried
00:57:56
Speaker
you know, wrestling through that really weird Thunderdome time, empty arena time. I, I give them that, but I was so overhearing his, his theme and storylines. And I'm very much like, it's not that I want the pace to always be super fast, but the pacing of how he wrestles is a little too slow for me.
00:58:16
Speaker
I get it. He's the power move guy. He does one big move, takes some time, had dramatic looks. His wrestling style is not my favorite. And so I'm like, come on. Sorry. Do you like Randy Orton?
00:58:34
Speaker
Oh, I do love Randy Orton. And I feel like his, I mean, I'm only familiar with, you know, 2020 and up, you know, like I didn't really see young Randy Orton, but like, I feel like his pacing's a lot faster. Okay. Like his moves are real quick when he does do them. Yes. All right. Okay. I can see that. All right. Yeah. Because some people say the same thing about Randy Orton, like, Oh my God, hurry up.
00:58:57
Speaker
It's like for me, I don't with any types of any deal that that style of wrestling, that slow pace. I like it because I mean, I grew up like watching like it's a it's a you know, they're telling a story as they say, you know, you're watching like, you know, like you said, the facial expressions, you know, the things in between the between the moves that they're doing. If you can pull it off, that's the thing. Like not every wrestler is able to do the slow paced, you know, you know,
00:59:24
Speaker
power move, facial expression, talking crap in between stuff. Not everyone can do that. So that's about, I don't want every single wrestler to do it, but the ones that can do it, I do, I do like like, um, edge, uh, Adam, you can do a fast-paced style if you wanted to, and you can do a slow style. If you, if you need like, when it was going,
00:59:45
Speaker
him and Randy Orton I think was for that WrestleMania that was like the pandemic WrestleMania. Oh yeah when they're fighting everywhere yeah like the lowest match of all time yeah it was slow I was like oh my god like you're right to the bathroom came back got some food came back I was like oh man that was
01:00:04
Speaker
So, and I mean, there is the extreme on the other side too. Like I'm, I'm definitely not a like super duper fast pace. Like, um, I love Will Ospreay. I think he's so, so talented and all his matches are like incredible, but sometimes it's like move, move, move, move, move. Breathing room in between. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, there's that extreme. There's two extremes.
01:00:28
Speaker
Yeah, it's like I do like I'm the same. I do love, uh, do love Will Osprey. I love Kenny Omega. I think Kenny Omega does a great like his job, his pacing. Yeah. Like he, he perfected that like fast move and then, you know, kind of selling it. So the, you know, the effects of actually either him pulling off the move and then obviously the person has to, you know, receive the move there. They're selling it as well. And they're, they're doing that thing, but
01:00:53
Speaker
He does, he does, he does like burst moves. Like he'll do like, you know, some fast paced stuff and then it'll slow down. It's all like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And then, and then that's it. It's all like, you know, kicking out of things and all that stuff. I think, I think like I said, Kenny Omega kind of, I think perfected that fast paced style, but is able to let you breathe a little bit. And that's, and that's one of the, I mean, if that's one of the knocks I have on today's wrestling is
01:01:18
Speaker
I mean, a lot of a lot of older wrestlers will say it. They get shit on for it. But you need breathing room between moves. And it's it just makes sense. Like us, the fans want to take it what we just saw. Yeah. You don't want to like you want to process.
01:01:33
Speaker
Yeah, we want to process and see like, oh, man, OK, that was, you know, but not to a point where, like you said, we could get up, go to the bathroom. Yeah. Do some chores, come back and then the mattress. You're like, oh, they're still on top of the building. OK, I'm good. They're still breathing. Yeah, breathing heavy and we're fine. But yeah, I was like, no hate to Roman Reigns. It's just like coming into that pandemic era where it was just every single week, it was Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns. I was like, OK.
01:02:03
Speaker
let's yeah then four years later he's uh still the center you must be like oh my god what the hell exactly move on already jeez let him sleep let the man rest he needs a little rest he looks tired oh man um you know actually the last time you were on here i did the you know i do like a final question you know and i asked you like you know what match would you show like a non-wrestling fan
01:02:30
Speaker
but I changed it up a little bit on the last episodes. I'm going to kind of continue with this one. It's more like, you know, I mean, if you ever read like cause what's politics or any of those, you know, it was like, it was like couples questions, but you asked like, are you compatible? Yeah. I thought I had a few that I really liked. My favorite one is this one. So, you know, I'm going to ask you right now. So you wake up one morning, right? And you are a character in a movie. Okay.
01:02:59
Speaker
What character would that be and how would you go about that day? So I don't have to, you don't have to pick any movie. It could be your favorite movie, but what character would you want to wake up one day and be and live out that movie?
01:03:13
Speaker
It's a movie. Very, very interesting. Right. I know. Well, and that's because like me, I'll say TV as well. That'd be movies or movie. We'll go TV movie. OK, because I was going to say I'm I'm I'm actually surprisingly not. Well, actually, it is not surprising because I just mentioned how like I can't sit still for like slow, slow pace matches. Movies, I have a hard time sitting through. I really do. Like I'm like, let's go.
01:03:39
Speaker
So waking up in a movie would probably be a nightmare for me. I'm like, can this be a short series? Let's get this over with. Oh, I guess I would be. Oh, that's really hard because I'm like trying to think of a show. Oh, I'm really into the show The Bear. So I mean, I feel like if I could be like if I could be
01:04:07
Speaker
Oh, what's his name? What's his name? And to see it now, I kept my blinking on his name, the main character. Oh, yeah. Now I think it is named two. Oh, it's something cute and.
01:04:18
Speaker
I mean, he was Kerry Von Erich. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Jeremy Allen White. Yes. That's his real name. So Jeremy Allen White's character would be great. Like just I'm I feel like we're the same person in that we're perfectionists and we want to get things done a certain way. And it's a little chaotic. We're still like messed up from from all this previous trauma, family trauma and everything, but still trying to perfect something and being very passionate about it because they love it.
01:04:45
Speaker
I think that that would probably be the character that I'd want to wake up and be. Like I would love to be a chef. Like imagine being able to cook things that actually taste good would be fantastic.
01:04:57
Speaker
Oh man, definitely. When I had Chris Wayne on, we actually, a part of our conversation, we talked about who can make the best grilled cheese sandwich. And we actually had, we didn't give all the secrets, but that was a fun conversation. I think he said he does like different types of cheeses and stuff like that. So he actually like, he doesn't just slap on like a piece of cheese and grills it.
01:05:26
Speaker
goes all in. He's on Gourmet. Karmey. Karmey is the name of the character. Karmey. Yeah, that's his name. Yes. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's a good choice. My other one is, if you were a superhero, what would your power be and what would your name be?
01:05:50
Speaker
A lot of people pick the pick the power and not the name. Yeah, name to like what would your name be if you were a superhero and your power or a supervillain doesn't have to be more healed and I would be a face.
01:06:06
Speaker
Well, I would love to be super strong. I think that super strength is just like the coolest, just to be able to lift things and lift them easily, I think would be great, especially because your girl's got a bad back already, so you have a strong back.
01:06:25
Speaker
I got that scully. I got that wavy spine. So to have super strength would be great. And actually, if my superhero name, I think I would I've I've actually thought of like what my wrestling name would be if I ever was a wrestler, which I'm clearly not going to be. Yeah. I think I would use my middle name, which it's Elena, but I think I would shorten it to Lena. So maybe Lena would be my superhero name. OK. That'd be kind of cool.
01:06:52
Speaker
And if anybody needs me to lift their car or a couch, whatever you need, I could open up a moving business on the side. So, you know, I can, I can kind of relate to you. I, you know, I have a, I have a spinal stenosis. So I have like a constant, you know, protruding. I have like a, like a slip or bulging disc. Always. It's not, I mean, I could like,
01:07:18
Speaker
It gets to the point where I love to play basketball, I love to play sports and stuff like that. I can play for five minutes and then my back's like killing me, which sucks dealing with that. Obviously, you have to deal with sciatic
01:07:34
Speaker
Um, issue and it's all my, like on my right side. So like, you know, not this in the foot, their pain going down the leg, that type of stuff. So yeah, I would definitely want to super power. If I was severe to like be able to just be strong and physically capable of doing it.
01:07:51
Speaker
Like it doesn't even have to be strength it could just be like an able body yeah, just an able body I don't even care about just being able to like do things for get out of bed without anything popping or exactly Right there
01:08:05
Speaker
Oh, well, cause you, since you brought it up, this will be my, I'm going to add a third question. You said you'd, you know, wrestler. Um, you know, you always thought about your wrestling name. What, what style of wrestler would you be? Cause obviously there's tons of different styles. Um,
01:08:24
Speaker
And who would you, what company would you sign to your first ever, you know, foray into the wrestling business here? You're a wrestler, you're going in. What company are you going to? What's your style of wrestling? Shoot. And your wrestling name, if you want to know. Yeah. Well, definitely I'd probably carry it over. And like I said, I would probably go by my middle name and go by, by Lena.
01:08:47
Speaker
And then wrestling style, I mean, I would love to learn Lucha Libre. I have so much respect for that high flying aerodynamic. I love that fast pace. I love Lucha Libre. So I think that would be really cool to be able to learn that style, especially given my area too. I'm from the Valley, close to Mexico.
01:09:11
Speaker
to be able to carry on that culture, which is already kind of instilled in where I am, location wise would be great. And then if I were to sign, whoever wants to sign me, man, I'll go where the paycheck goes. I could see myself probably doing well in NXT. I need a learning company, somebody who would take care of me. So that way I could grow while I'm there.
01:09:38
Speaker
Uh, but yeah, I was like, any, any local indie scene, I'll sign with Fortuno wrestling, wrestling down here. I'll see if Mel and Alvaro will sign me. Do you have a, do you have a finishing move in mind already or? Um, moonsault. That makes sense. Okay. The moonsault. Got to keep it. Got to answer that myself if I thought about it. Um, do you have a name for it?
01:10:07
Speaker
Ooh. Well, I know because EOSky is already taking mine. Yes. I've had mine since 2021, so I'm going to tell Corey Graves, hey, I need some compensation.
01:10:22
Speaker
that would be hard like i yeah i guess i would have to i'm that's what i'm gonna have to think about because yeah yeah i can't use the one that i would probably call it which is my name over there but definitely not um i'll fight for the copyright oh i mean you could you could do that um you don't want any uh givok infringement yeah going there um what would you what would the yeah what would your look be i mean obviously you're you know you're very creative when it comes to that stuff like what would you
01:10:52
Speaker
How would you go about, you know, creating your attire? Like, how would, would you go Lucha for Lucha with a mask and everything? I mean, a mask would be cool. I mean, I've always thought the mask concept is pretty, pretty cool. Like I loved sexy star and Lucha underground. Like she was my favorite. I loved her like design with the little star on the top. But then I also like how Thunder Rosa does her half and half. So like maybe some,
01:11:19
Speaker
makeup would be really cool to kind of tie in the look. And even Stephanie Vaquer, I love just the little like slashes she has. I think that that's really cool. And then she just, you know, dons the little headpiece to kind of tie in her whole look. So I'd probably go that route where it's something I can remove easily. And then in terms of gear, like I think I would actually stay pretty true to like what my little logo is when I when I first had it made, when I decided I was going to go with Over the Moonsault.
01:11:48
Speaker
Yeah, I had in mind, like, OK, if I was a wrestler, what would what would I look like? And I think I would kind of go in that route of like that golden rod yellow kind of sequency, because yellow has always been just a color that I draw to.

Wrestling Gear Design and Inspiration

01:12:04
Speaker
It's bright, it's fun, but it's unexpected because, you know, if I'm not always a good guy, that
01:12:11
Speaker
You know, you kind of you kind of correlate yellow with with being a happy kind of color, maybe more of a face color and maybe taking it a different route, making it more dark. Yeah. So that's probably and some fringe. There's got to be some fringe in there for a macho, a macho tribute. So maybe there somewhere I don't know where.
01:12:31
Speaker
Yeah, definitely. That's awesome. It'd be like, you know, Bianca Belair, because she does all her own gear and stuff like that. I love her gear. I mean, I was thinking that you, there was a, I mean, if you were in a video games, I know 2K24 was doing like a, they were doing a contest for people to create gear.
01:12:51
Speaker
Oh, and then, like, if it got picked, that person was going to wear, you know, whatever. I think it was Bianca. If you if you create the gear for her, you know, if they picked your gear, she would actually wear your gear to, you know, I'm not sure what event it would have been. That's cool. That's pretty cool. So I mean, yeah, if we look up at stuff like that, because I mean, I know you said before we spoke on that first interview, you said you might not want to get into doing wrestling gear for other people, because obviously that's very
01:13:20
Speaker
You know, that's time consuming and it's, you know, a lot, definitely a lot of work to do. So, uh, you know, just even speaking to some artists that do like, you know, things for wrestlers and stuff like that. It's very, very involved. You have to, you know, a lot of communication happening and, you know, going back and forth and stuff. So yeah, definitely. Uh, I mean, I liked, that'd be awesome. Like one day just seeing like, you know, someone come out in a gear made by, you know, made by you.
01:13:46
Speaker
Yeah, how sick would that be? I mean, yeah, even design like, yeah, designing. Yeah, there's some Instagram pages I follow with that. That's strictly what they do is they just make concept art and then they have other gear makers make the art. I mean, make the actual gear, but they they design the concept art. There's one I follow. I feel bad that I can't remember the name, but I know that they've designed several for Naomi. Like they've just done the designs and then somebody else makes the gear.
01:14:12
Speaker
I'm like, that's, that's incredible to be that creative, to come up with a concept and then just be made. Like you don't even have to physically make it. Somebody else is making it, but you're coming up with those ideas. Yeah. I only do one. It's a, I think it's main event gear. Oh, I like, I follow main event gear. They do a lot of stuff for New Day and everything.
01:14:32
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, they obviously they're really cool. But yeah, that's, that's, that's also something to look into is, you know, actually creating gear and having other people do it. That's actually, you know, that's actually a good point. And like I said, you know, uh, extra cooler. Um, he, uh, you know, he's done some stuff for, you know, FTR as well. Like he's designed.
01:14:51
Speaker
or did the artwork for their gear and their shirts and stuff like that. And, you know, they wear it on TV and all that. So it's cool seeing that type of stuff. Definitely. Definitely. We'd like to see, like, you know, if you're not not trying to make you do it, but, you know, someone reaches out and says, Hey, can you help me? I mean, what's a quick sketch? Here's what it should look like. And then, like you said, have someone else do the work and
01:15:14
Speaker
There'll be an original idea by you, which would be pretty awesome. Yeah. Who knows?

Balancing Life and Creative Pursuits

01:15:19
Speaker
I'll put it on my bucket list for sure.
01:15:23
Speaker
But yeah, man, this is awesome. This is great talking to you. And definitely, like I said, looking forward to everything that you do. Like I said, I'm always a fan. I'm always watching. Like I said, life gets in the way. Like I said, on my side, same thing. Life, work, family, all that stuff. And like we said, you have to take a step back, try to assess, and then slowly get back into this.
01:15:51
Speaker
That's what I'm doing, and that's what I see that you're doing. Like I said, I'm definitely looking forward to some new things for being able to see what you got cooking up there. Hopefully you get the inspiration that you need going forward. For sure. Well, more time than inspiration. The inspiration is always there. That is true. That is very true. If somebody can give me like several hours in the day, I would definitely. Maybe I just need to cut off on sleep and
01:16:18
Speaker
Yeah, that's I mean, I trust me, I considered like maybe I should like maybe the nights like this night, like when I'm doing this, I got this. Maybe it should do like, you know, hop on and do something. But then when I'm done talking, I'm like, I don't want to talk anymore. Your social battery just goes. Yeah, I'm just like, yeah. I'm like, I don't want to talk to nothing. This is awful. But yeah, I think
01:16:41
Speaker
I think, uh, like I said, you'll be, you know, I look forward to seeing you hopefully have more shows and stuff like that. Um, in more interviews, that's all, that's all definitely be

Promoting and Collaborating within the Community

01:16:51
Speaker
looking out for. And, you know, hopefully to, uh, you know, keep in touch and you'll keep things rolling.
01:16:57
Speaker
For sure. No, I'm just grateful for the opportunity to chit chat. And like I said, I might not be as frequent with my content, but I'm still there. I'm still lurking. And like you said, I'm still drawing inspiration from everyone else. Yeah, definitely. That's why I've really been using my platform more to just showcase more people.
01:17:16
Speaker
within the community, like, you know, wrestling shirt makers and content creators and podcasters. Yeah, exactly. Artists like I I'm it's not about me. Like my platform has become way more than just me. I want to be able to connect us all as a community. So I was like, if I'm not posting content, I'm going to post someone else's content because they're effing amazing. And I want other people to see what they're creating for this community.
01:17:43
Speaker
Yeah, it's a great way to go about it. Definitely. Like I said, it's kind of like a, uh, like a theme throughout this, you know, this interview is, you know, collaboration, being able to make connections. It's one thing to, you know, make connections behind the scenes, but at the same time, it's, it's one thing to, you know, show that, you know, relationship, show that connection with each other and stuff like that. I think, uh, you know, more collaborations, more crossbranding and stuff like that. I think it helps, it helps everyone out at the same time too. Cause, uh, you know,
01:18:13
Speaker
Definitely want to keep the community strong. Uh, keep the positivity going and keep the negativity out as much as we can. Cause you know, this wrestling world could be Uber negative at that time. So definitely want to keep those, uh, those fun relationships and those fun times going. But, uh, I think we'll end it here. And, uh, like I said, again, thank you for joining me. I mean, give your plugs, all that stuff. Where, where, where can everyone find you?
01:18:38
Speaker
Yeah, you can follow me on Instagram at over the moon salt or you can see my random tweets at OT moon salt on X. Um, that's mainly where I've been posted. But yeah, keep, keep on Instagram. Got a lot of good stuff coming. All right. Awesome. And we'll, uh, that's it. And, uh, you know, we'll talk to you everyone soon. Later.
01:19:25
Speaker
done.
