FaceTime Surprises and Tech Confusion

00:00:13
Speaker
what's up everybody welcome to the logon games podcast we are predicting oh my gosh okay before we start this oh my gosh so so we figured this out i was facetiming with someone uh-oh and i and i did this
00:00:32
Speaker
Okay. It's not doing anything now, but I did that when I was FaceTiming and it did like lasers and stuff. What? Like that. And I was like, what is happening? I didn't press anything. I swear. And so I Googled it and found a bunch of other stuff. And then last week me and Matthew did the podcast and it started doing it on here. So yeah.
00:00:57
Speaker
I don't know. Get back up, get back up. Yeah. Oh, maybe it doesn't work. Maybe all racism. Well, that's it. Yeah, I don't I don't know if Zancaster like he uses Apple FaceTime like stuff, maybe. Dude, what? I don't know. I'm so excited to see how this how this actually looks when I'm editing it, because right now you're all just like crazy blurry. But

Game Awards Predictions: Quirky and Fun

00:01:27
Speaker
Um, this is our game awards predictions episode. So that means we are predicting six awards, seven awards.
00:01:42
Speaker
Let me look here again. One, two, three, four, five. We were predicting six awards and also giving three unique predictions. Anything from what color Jeff Keighley's shoes will be to what games will be announced to why the PS6 will be announced finally, you know? So we're going to get into that. With me on the podcast today, you can find him at X User Aid X.
00:02:18
Speaker
Yo, that's not fair man, that's not fair It works right now last week and it worked for me last time. Well, I don't know each person each person gets to just it swaps each week. I Didn't know any of this existed until last week maybe it's
00:02:38
Speaker
Andrew, are you on a Mac device or Apple device? No, just Windows PC with SLR. Yeah. See, I'm on Apple device. Maybe I thought it was that, but now it's not working at all. You got to do it better. I think. Oh, OK, so we think it's an Apple thing. Sorry. Maybe maybe you just haven't done it good enough. I don't know.
00:03:08
Speaker
Yeah, he definitely he definitely over exaggerated. That's funny. Matthew, you're in Greenville for what, one more day? Yep. Come back tomorrow. Mm hmm. My wife's calling me right now. Hold on a second. Get her to do it. Get her to do it. Hello. This is high quality. You are live on the Logon Games podcast. How are you? I'm fine. How are you? Great.
00:03:38
Speaker
Um, I was just trying to see what, when we're going up to Greenville for Christmas, because my mom, I told my mom, I want a tea party. And so she's trying to plan that around when we're going. Gotcha. Um, but what do you think will be game of the year? Tea parties and Christmas don't really go together. They do for me. Okay. Well, I'll figure that out here in a second. What do you think it's going to be game of the year?
00:04:10
Speaker
Oh, it's me, my lord. Wait. That's Final Fantasy 16 reference. So. All right. Thank you. Love you. I'll talk to you. I was like a Game of Thrones game didn't come out this year, but I thought he was doing a Harry Potter voice.
00:04:29
Speaker
it pretty much so i started final fantasy 16 last night because i beat allen wick too and there's this guy named wade and he's like one of the um he's like a lowly soldier person kind of yeah um and his name is wade and we were making fun of him the whole time because it's
00:04:49
Speaker
Like the, one of the first missions, he's him and this guy, Sir Wade and Sir Tyler are with you as you go and kill these goblins. It's basically like the first time you fight anything. So it's like a tutorial

Gaming News Highlights and Humor

00:04:59
Speaker
part. Oh yeah, I played there. They're NPCs. So like, they pretty much just like sit there and do nothing. And then sometimes they'll go up and slash and then they'll get hit or whatever. And then they'll stand there and do nothing. So I'm just yelling at Wade this whole time. Cause he's doing absolutely nothing. And then there's a cut scene, which crap's hitting the fan. So Wade busts in the room and goes, this is me, my Lord.
00:05:19
Speaker
Wait, it was funny My question for you is how much how much did you pay for that game? It was the Black Friday sale. Okay. I knew you're waiting was you know, it's $40 is what I paid for it. Okay. Okay, which is fine I'm just I wanted to be cheaper dead island 2 is still more expensive than that for some reason I
00:05:45
Speaker
OK. Also, it's on the podcast today. You can find it at Brown Berserker. We have Andrew with us on the podcast. Oh, my. Wow. Dude, that is a thick boy sound wave. That was so loud. Oh, my God. Maybe back up a little bit and do it. Oh, my God. I mean, it's on the recording. It doesn't sound loud. And that's all that matters. That's true. I meant the hand motions.
00:06:17
Speaker
This is the whole podcast. It must be an Apple thing. I feel like it's an Apple thing. Audio listeners, if there's ever been a time for you to go to YouTube, this is the one. This is it. Andrew, what's cracking?
00:06:34
Speaker
I mean, it was in the Discord yesterday. I apparently blew minds because I actually bought video games. That was pretty crazy. You haven't started Remnet 2, I assume yet. No, I haven't. I finally got the Spider-Man games. I mean, they were 20 bucks. I was like, how could I not?
00:06:55
Speaker
Yeah, on PC. Yes, on PC. And you have not played any of them yet? I mean, I just bought them like two days ago, which is not an excuse, because everyone would just buy a game and play it the same day, but I don't. So it happens. That's always I was like, what did I play before? I don't like to. What came out? I bought Cyberpunk on sale like a year ago and I still haven't played it. Now they got the new Mega Edition that's actually good.
00:07:25
Speaker
I don't know if that update, I think some of that update was for the regular edition though. Like most of it was. I think so, yeah. It's just not the DLC. Yeah, yeah.
00:07:34
Speaker
Um, okay. Let's just get into the second. Oh, we want to welcome everybody to the log on games podcast. Did you know Rebecca Black? Yeah. Andrew's already. Andrew's already hung up on the rock because Rebecca Black hasn't come on first. That's true. That's true.

Game Awards Predictions episode.

Predicting Game Awards Winners

00:10:16
Speaker
We are going to start off predicting the six awards and then we'll move on to our individual predictions. There are many more than six awards, but we're only doing this. There are many more than six awards. I just picked, I honestly picked six random ones. Randomly important ones. Because I would be here all day if we go through all of them.
00:10:43
Speaker
So we'll get some awards in there and then we'll get our predictions in there and we'll have a dandy old time. Now we are predicting what we think will actually win, not our personal favorites or opinions or anything like that. We are when whoever's, you know, we see the nominees for a game of the year, whatever. It may not be your game of the year, but what do you predict the person to say one, each correct answer is worth a thousand dollars.
00:11:12
Speaker
Correct. And then the winner wins $1 million. So the stakes are high this year, but you have to pay yourself. So, Oh, gotcha. So it usually comes out. We'll pay you a penny a week until we hit 1 million.
00:11:31
Speaker
Okay. Is that taxed? No, it's not. Okay. Okay. Um, okay. Let's start at the bottom of my list here for most. Actually, I should probably bring this up. Bring it up. I got it too. Tell me what we're doing. Most anticipated. Give us the noms.
00:11:56
Speaker
The Noms, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Hades II, Like a Dragon, Infinite Wealth, Star Wars Outlaws, Tekken 8. The way I have it for me is me, Matthew, Andrew. So I'm just going to go ahead and say that it's Final Fantasy. You think so?
00:12:18
Speaker
I think my personal one would be Hades. It's the one I'm most excited for on that list. But I think Final Fantasy fans are a little crazy. You know what I mean? That's true. A little wonky. Matthew, what about you? To me, it's between Final Fantasy and Star Wars. I think that's the two that are probably going to have the most votes.
00:12:39
Speaker
And and they're two rabid fan bases in different ways. Rabbit. So rabbit fan bases. Yes, there's more rabbits than one. Yeah, I think I'm with you. I think I would say Final Fantasy probably wins it, even though Star Wars would be mine. Andrew, so because of what you both said, I'm going to change my answer just to be different. Mm hmm.
00:13:05
Speaker
I'm going to say Hades. You can probably you can probably predict what my original answer was, but I'm like, you know what? No, let's let's spice it up. Let's spice it up. You're playing the price of the right game on us. Let's spice it up. Yeah. Been that one dollar. So you can get the win. Yeah. Hades won game of the year, did it not? Or was it just nominated? I think we've said talked about it was nominated and won a lot of awards the year it was nominated. I want to say that was Zelda year. I could be wrong. I think it was that far ago.
00:13:36
Speaker
I can tell you how long ago has it been? Because we had Elden Ring, you had Zelda, you had Last of Us. And I think it had to have been one of those three years. Right? I think it was 99. I can't remember. That's it. Spider-Man 2099. All righty. Next award. Best adaptation. Oh, where's that one at? Right here.
00:14:06
Speaker
I tried to paint the ones that at least we've are familiar and or have played with. So, yeah, best adaptation. Yes. This adaptation is Castlevania Nocturne, Gran Turismo, The Last of Us, Super Mario Brothers movie, Twisted Metal. I know which one of these it is not.
00:14:29
Speaker
That's true. It is not Twisted Metal. It's The Last of Us, and I don't think it's going to be anywhere close. I think there's two fighting for this one. Yeah, I also think it's The Last of Us for sure, but I do think in most years, Super Mario Bros. movie would win. Yeah. The Last of Us for me.
00:14:55
Speaker
The difference there really is, are you over or under 18? That's kind of really the difference. The people that are voting are over 18. That's true. So I'm just saying, like, if this was a, I mean, I don't know if people, if there's a lot of people voting with kids, they might end up getting some Mario, more Mario love than you think.
00:15:17
Speaker
Yeah. Or I mean, even if the last of us was just kind of average, you know, he probably would. Yeah. Mario probably wouldn't want some good stuff there. I've heard good things about both Gran Turismo and Castlevania. So. Oh, yeah.
00:15:32
Speaker
Also, the last of the season two, I think, starts filming this summer. I don't remember exactly what they said. I'm very interested to see where they go with that. 100%. They have said it's definitely going to be more than one season. So I don't know exactly what the cutoff point is going to be.
00:15:52
Speaker
You know, in the game, obviously we got a lot of flashbacks. So we're going to get flashbacks or then maybe they're just going to start with the flashbacks. You know, we're just going to show us all that first. Have they said that they're starting with season like with the second game?
00:16:06
Speaker
Yeah. So because there's so much space in between the two games, I would assume they would use that. They said the same thing about the first game of the first season, which was like we're basically sticking to the game exactly unless there's changes that make sense. A good reason to change it. Yeah. Yeah.
00:16:27
Speaker
But they did also say with the last of us, uh, part two, uh, remaster thing that has like the lost levels and stuff that they are putting some of the stuff, the lost level stuff in the show. So that makes sense. Um, in the first season of the show, they put in the, uh, I don't remember what it was called left behind. There you go. They put that in there. So that's kind of what the lost levels is.
00:16:53
Speaker
All righty, next up, best multiplayer game. I'm looking for, I would assume this is, yeah, I'd be dying light, wouldn't you think? That was sarcasm. Don't listen to me. I have some very funny, it is Baldur's Gate 3, Diablo 4, Party Animal, Street Fighter 6, or Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
00:17:23
Speaker
Most of my I would I'm just going to say this from here on out. Most of my predictions are boring because they're all going to be Baldur's Gate. I have a unique prediction about that. That is not the same thing that you're saying. I was there when we get there. Would love for party party animals is such a good and fun game, but not enough people played it. And there's too many good games that came out this year, but. Mm hmm.
00:17:51
Speaker
I mean Baldur's Gate is a D&D game which you play with other people most of the time not everybody does that obviously but I think that is I Mean I predict it's possible That ball no another if Baldur's Gate is in the category that the other team other games just don't win That's all that's possible. But imagine you're
00:18:15
Speaker
To me it comes down. It's to me. It's gonna be Diablo Street Fighter or Super Mario Brothers I don't think I don't think Baldur's Gate. I don't think most people experience Baldur's Gate multiplayer But I I will say Just putting my mind into voters in the voters mind Especially when we get towards the top with Baldur's Gate is gonna win some things
00:18:35
Speaker
So things like best multiplayer games, they may, you know, go a different direction. Yeah. I actually think Diablo, I'm going to stick with Diablo for this one. I think Diablo out of the games on here is the one that is best experience multiplayer. Sounds like someone that's never played party animals before.
00:18:53
Speaker
Well, you are correct. I just don't, I unfortunately just don't think party animals has a shot in the, like, I just don't, I just don't think it does. I mean, it's even could be the most fun out of all of these games. It's just.
00:19:06
Speaker
I agree. I mean, Diablo 4, I think it's definitely more fun with other people than it is by yourself. Whereas Father's Gate, you can play by yourself, even if it is more fun or less fun than with other people. Yeah, honestly, like I said, I think it's Diablo Street Fighter or Mario. I think one of those are going to be the one that wins it. Andrew, what you thinking?
00:19:28
Speaker
I have never played this, but I'm going party animals. I would be. I'd be happy if party animals wanted. I just don't think it will. That's all. I think it'd be cool. That'd be a cool thing that would happen though. Yeah, I think Andrew, I think you're allergic to points so far. But listen, I tend to win these though. I wanted to say I wanted to say Diablo.
00:19:55
Speaker
but I just thought I would just get risky. You know what I'm saying? Just get risky for the bisque. No, like party animals is listed right here. I've only changed one answer so far. Everything else I've said is exactly what I have written down here. Party animals, another one of those games that I talk about when I say
00:20:12
Speaker
If your game's fun, people will play it. It doesn't really matter what it looks like, the refinement of this, that, or the other. Those things are important for certain games, but you make a fun game, people play it. That's it. The end. If you're an animal out there and you like to party. That's right. Party animals. Just don't call PETA. Next category, best RPG.
00:20:36
Speaker
Best erpaga role playing game. All right. I got Baldur's Gate three. Final Fantasy. Liza P. Sea of Stars. Star field. Feel like Liza P. should have not been in this category, but I agree. So it could win. You know what I mean? It's Baldur's Gate. Matthew. Yeah, I think this is the one Baldur's Gate wins. It's I mean, it is the most
00:21:07
Speaker
like true to what RPG is always been that you can put in a video game. Really? So I think that's it. I'm going to spice it up here and my answer is going to be a Baldur's Guide. Baldur's Guide 2. Yes. I will say this. I think in a year without a game that's like
00:21:33
Speaker
the most RPG game ever. I think Sea of Stars wins this one and walks away with a little indie game winning some big trophies. I mean, I could be wrong. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again. But this year specifically, I think I just feel sorry for the indie games in any category that's not indie. I mean, true. And even in the indie category, this game is not an indie game. I mean, there's normally one or two indie games in the game of the year nominations.
00:22:02
Speaker
Recently, there has been. That's not that's a more recent development, though. I mean, for us, like three or four years, it's been at least one. And just no shot this year. Just no shot. Too many good. Well, I mean, technically, Baldur's Gate is an indie game. So I guess if you want to get technical with it, Baldur's Gate, I don't want to get technical with it. Next category, best narrative, best narrative, best story.

Narrative Showdown: Alan Wake 2 vs. Baldur's Gate

00:22:31
Speaker
Yeah. Whatever you want to call it.
00:22:34
Speaker
Alan Hawke II, Baldur's Gate III, Cyberpunk 2777, Fan of Liberty, Final Fantasy XVI, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. That good old XVI. Some great ones, some great ones. I just started Final Fantasy XVI, so I don't, I mean, so far in the first hour, the story's great. I don't know, for sure. This one, I'm picking Alan Wake II.
00:23:03
Speaker
A little bit of that is recency because it came out recently. Yeah. I still wouldn't be shocked. I mean, Baldur's Gate has a bajillion endings and ways the story can go. So you're talking about best narrative. It's just like a million of them. Spider-Man 2 was great. Great story, but it's nothing that I mean, that's a Spider-Man fan.
00:23:28
Speaker
Someone that enjoys the story of all things. Spider-Man, nothing I hadn't seen before. You know what I mean? Yeah. Spider-Man, Venom, Craven, you kind of know what you're getting. Even if there's things that are different here and there, some surprises here and there. Spoiler alert, Spider-Man wins. Okay, I think we all know that. Yeah, but which one? See. Alan Wake 2, I've just beat it. Great game.
00:23:58
Speaker
There It's it's one of these games. So where it's like, okay Like I beat the games like I need to watch a video that is explaining a little bit of what happened but at the same time like There's just there's some craziness that ensues and I think basically just because it's one of the games that came out the most recently were the most recent and
00:24:22
Speaker
I think this might be the category that it wins out of all the categories that it's nominated for. So we'll see. Matthew. Yeah, I, this is a category I literally would not be shocked if any of these games want it for from narrative perspective. I'm going to go similar to your reasoning. Recent little recency bias makes sense on the narrative thing.
00:24:46
Speaker
I'm going to go Spiderman. I think it's a better man. Love it. People love it. And you get, you get two Spiderman's get to two times the story. Some, some might say get a story for one and a story for another. Yeah. But I honestly, I don't have a good feel for this one. It could be any of them. It's true. Uh, Andrew, what are you thinking? Baldur's freaking gate. Baldur's freaking gate.
00:25:17
Speaker
Um, what if the people that vote didn't get a good, uh, story in their thing because they were evil, you know? They made all the wrong decisions and they got a crappy story. Well, I think that's like, I think that's why it wins best narrative because you're like creating your own story. So yeah, I mean, it could 100% good. I'm kind of going in thinking like, but if Baldur's Gate doesn't win, it's going to be a shock.
00:25:47
Speaker
Um, but at the same time in voters mind, I feel like there's gotta be some categories where they're like, all right, let's give it, let's vote for another game simply because we can't have Baldur's Gate win everything. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. Any one of these games, um, I'm fine with winning. Let me tell you though, there's really not anything with a story. There's no category for best gaming moment. I guess maybe there should be.
00:26:13
Speaker
There's a mission like two and maybe just maybe the best mission I've ever played in a long time. Okay. Quite something. Yeah. I wonder if that's a good future category. Best gaming moment. There's certain moments in games that super stick out in my head. Like to me, like best gaming moment that I can think of, um,
00:26:38
Speaker
Bioshock one where they're like would you kindly when he switches that thing that whole like story twist? I was Joel dies. Joel Joel died. That was an insane moment. Spoiler alert. I was like that's heavy. That's heavy. I still like literally this week watched people
00:26:59
Speaker
that played and reacted to that moment live. It's like, I did that exact same thing after I beat Alan Wake 2, I went to the reactions of this specific mission or chapter, I guess is what it's called. Just to watch people be like, okay, you need to text me that after because I don't care if it's spoiled. I need to see this. I want to know.
00:27:20
Speaker
it doesn't necessarily spoil anything to be honest with you and i need to see this it's kind of like a reef like the the point of the chapter is kind of to refresh you on the story of like
00:27:32
Speaker
From the first game till now, they just do it in a way that's absolutely just strange. It's like when you listen to a music album, for the most part, you get the same song because the artist knows their audience. But then every once in a while, you hit a song, you're like, oh, wow, that's completely different. It's like right in the middle of an album because you need a break from all the breakdowns, you know what I mean?
00:27:54

Game of the Year Debate: Baldur's Gate vs. Zelda

00:28:21
Speaker
Baldur's Gate 3 Spider-Man 2 Resident Evil 4 remake Super Mario Brothers Wonder Alan Wake 2 and Zelda tears of the kingdom. Zelda tears of the kingdom. Wow. There you go. That's pretty good. I didn't have a switch for the most part of this year. So
00:28:45
Speaker
I think it's Baldur's Gate. That's the conversation. How about Zelda?
00:28:55
Speaker
So I think, I mean, if another game is going to win, it would be Zelda. Yeah. I listened to another podcast this week, um, that was talking about it. And that, that person, uh, one of the people on there also predicted, uh, Zelda and their comment before predicting was immediately if ballers gate and Zelda switched release dates, it wouldn't be close. It would be Zelda and a runaway. I mean, that's a fair, that's a fair statement. Yeah. I just think it's the better game. I haven't listened to.
00:29:24
Speaker
any podcast yet over this is because life's been a craziness 5,000. I just think when I when I go back in and think about one of the best years possibly ever in as far as video games coming out, every game kind of had like their moment and think of like just social media or whatever.
00:29:44
Speaker
I just feel like Baldur's Gate had the biggest moment because like when Zelda came out, it was craziness. Just everybody showing off things they're building and all sorts of weird stuff. Diablo 4 had its moment in the sun. Alan Wake 2 just got done with this moment, but I just remember Baldur's Gate was just absolutely everywhere for a long time.
00:30:05
Speaker
I remember Zelda being more everywhere than Baldur's Gate was. I think the difference was that Zelda was expected, whereas Baldur Gate was out of nowhere. I was literally going to chime in and say that it's Elden Ring all over again.
00:30:20
Speaker
Yeah. Elden Ring was like the niche, the niche crowd was excited for it. But then it took off on a whole much big popular plane. And you had everyday gamers like, holy crap, I want to play Elden Ring. And in Baldur's, same thing, a niche crowd. But then all of a sudden, people are sharing clips of what's happening in the game. And then everyone wants to play it now. So same thing. For me, it was like a bunch of Twitch streamers that are like,
00:30:45
Speaker
I'm just going to try Baldur's Gate 3 because I heard it's like really, really good. And then we'll go from there. And then it's just like they're just streaming it for weeks, weeks, weeks after that. Yeah. Like if Zelda had come out and gotten say an 88 on Metacritic total score, that would have been disappointing.
00:31:02
Speaker
Right. Whereas like Baldur's gate, like an 88 people would have still been like, Oh, wow, really good. That's man. The game's pretty good. So it's just a, it's expectation different before the game came out. Yep. I don't, I don't think Jeff normally, I don't think he's ever done it, but I wish he would show us how close of a race it was. Like afterwards, give us percentages or votes or whatever. What if it's a tie?
00:31:25
Speaker
They have to fight right? I will say this I would be Quite shocked if it's not one of those two games even though what if it was Resident Evil 4 remade even though the other even though the other nominees are I think all deserving They just are like Resident Evil 4 if that if Resident Evil 4 is a game that came out for the first time In its state this year. It would be game of the year nominee worthy. It's just that it's been
00:31:51
Speaker
This is like the 93rd. Yeah, that's the problem. Putting remakes in is like Godi. It's yeah. Mm hmm. It's just such a good game. So I mean, I'm I mean, I'm honestly just shocked that it was nominated over. Starfield Hogwarts Diablo Hogwarts deserved it 100 percent. And maybe something like Sea of Stars Final Final Fantasy 16. Yeah.
00:32:16
Speaker
I mean, these are all the games that it beat out for Game of the Year. Yeah, I'm surprised as well that it beat some of those out, but I do think it's more deserving than those. So even a happy surprise. I know the people that have played the the new DLC for Cyberpunk like are like this is Game of the Year like this is really freaking good. Why it's on an ongoing game category, I don't understand that.
00:32:41
Speaker
But I don't think, yeah, I don't think you, when a DLC comes out, I just don't think you're allowed to be up for game of the year. That's just not, that's the game's been out. That's a DLC. It's not the same thing.
00:32:52
Speaker
I don't know what the rules are, to be honest with you. I know your game has to be out by a date, if it's a new game. But is the rule just like, what's the game of the year? What's the best game of 2023? If Fortnite, no build mode, set the world on fire more than it did whatever year that came out last year.
00:33:13
Speaker
Yeah, like that should be a game of the year because I don't know. I don't know what the rules are. It's got to be released in. Since the last game awards, I would assume. Probably whatever. Andrew, what is your picks? Baldur's Gate again. Baldur's Gate again.
00:33:35
Speaker
Alrighty, so we have, for game of the year, I pick Baldur's Gate, Matthew picks Zelda, Andrew picks Baldur's Gate. Best narrative, I pick Alan Mc2, Matthew picks Spider-Man 2, Andrew picks Baldur's

Recap and Surprising Predictions

00:33:47
Speaker
Gate. Best RPG, all of us pick Baldur's Gate. Best multiplayer, I pick Baldur's Gate, Matthew picks Diablo 4, Andrew picks Party Animals. Best adaptation, we all pick The Last of Us HBO show. Most anticipated, me and Matthew pick Final Fantasy 7, Andrew picks Hades 2.
00:34:06
Speaker
All righty. Three unique predictions. I will start doing Matthew and then we'll go to Andrew because that is how I written down fair enough. I like we said, we said the stern recording of before, but I also have six. So I'm trying to narrow it down here, but yeah, I had six that I went off before this.
00:34:30
Speaker
The thing that I most am sure us about, because we did get a tweet from Xbox being like, hey, we're going to be announcing things at the Game Awards. So come watch. I think we get a Hellblade 2 trailer and a release date.
00:34:47
Speaker
Okay, we got it. Was it last year that we got the help lead to like big trailer or something? I could see that. I think it's definitely a 2024 game. We might, we might just get the 2024 card at the end of it, but I'm, I think we'll get an actual like month, day, year release date for Hellblade two. And if I have to, this doesn't count as my prediction. I'm just going to, for a bonus point,
00:35:19
Speaker
Cause that's what I, I give up bonus points now. I'm just getting, especially when you want them, I'm going to say it is a July game. I will give you a bonus point if you get July. That's a, that's a pretty specific prediction. Thank you. Well, I had other ones, but I'm going to stick since you went to the Xbox thing, I'm going to stick with the Xbox thing.
00:35:40
Speaker
Mmm, I'm gonna say they announced that Baldur's Gate is supposed to come out on Xbox before the end of the year, right? I say they say Baldur's Gate game pass My next box and game pass Yeah, and that would be people would go ham for that So is your prediction that it's coming to game pass or is your prediction is coming to game pass before?
00:36:02
Speaker
Like they said that it's good. Well, yeah, they yeah, they've said that they announced that it's coming to Game Pass, right? So I don't generally they don't announce this game is going to be on Game Pass in three months. They usually are like it's they pretty much announced it when it happens or close to it. So I would say when it drops on Xbox, then it's going to be on Game Pass, which is supposed to drop on Xbox before the end of the year is what they've said. So we'll see.
00:36:28
Speaker
Andrew, what is your first prediction? Okay, so this is something I want, but I also think we've been waiting long enough. Monster Hunter World 2 announced. That's a good place for it, too. Similar to how the Silent Hill stuff used to be.
00:36:44
Speaker
If we keep predicting it every show eventually, it has to happen. It seems like every show this year, we've been like, oh yeah, Monster Hunter 2. And then Capcom was like, we're at Tokyo Game Show, we're doing a whole thing. We're like, oh yeah, freaking Monster Hunter World. Here we go.
00:37:01
Speaker
And then I think even recently they said that there's like a tentpole title, like unannounced game that's coming out before spring of next year or something like that. I don't know. They're riding this like dragon dog with two waves. So I think, um, I think it's our fault. I think we should just all say we don't want monster on our two world at this event. And then maybe they'll finally drop it. That's what happened. I didn't predict Silent Hill for whatever when an exit came out. I gave up on it. Um,
00:37:34
Speaker
As we hear my father talk as loudly as possible, is that ground? I'm on mute. My bad. I can hear it. Yeah. Yeah. Um. Where do I want to go here? Do I want to go for a guaranteed point question or do I want to have fun? Am I playing to win both at the same time? Do both at the same time? I can do both at the same time.
00:38:03
Speaker
Okay, I'll do both at the same time. We are going to get the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, which may or may not be before. And then they show it again in the game where that's not necessarily the biggest part of the prediction. Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer with a summer 2024 release. It's a summer. Okay. I think everybody kind of expects it to be in the fall of next year, which is probably when it will be.
00:38:28
Speaker
but my prediction is that it says summer of 24 and everybody goes, just like that. They'll turn into a bird. Exclusively on Apple Arcade. Yes. You have to have an Apple Arcade subscription. It's on Stadia, the resurrected version. They're like, listen, it was already in development for Stadia, so we figured we'd just keep going. All right, Matthew, your second prediction.
00:38:58
Speaker
Uh, I will predict. Um, I have four more. I don't know which ones to choose. I'm going to do this one because I don't think either one of you are going to do this. I predict since we're doing predictions of the game of the year awards, I predict the Zelda wins more awards than any other game. Okay. I think most people think Walter's gate is going to win more awards than anything else. I think Zelda wins the most awards. I mean, it wouldn't shock me, but it would shock me. Yeah.
00:39:30
Speaker
I think it's similar to when the last was part two came out. It's just going to be Baldur's Gate. It's many minds will just name it the Baldur's Gate Awards. Yeah. I'm sure. I don't think it's I don't think that's going to be true. So we'll see. So ha. Andrew. All right. So this is safe and boring.
00:39:51
Speaker
Nice. A celebrity will announce something new there. Do you want to get spicy for a bonus point and say what celebrity it will be? Who? No, but it will be Microsoft related. I don't know which celebrity, but it'll be Microsoft related. So we'll, I'll go that specific. Okay. I'll go that specific question.
00:40:17
Speaker
Would either Joel or Ellie count as the celebrity since they are kind of, I mean, yeah, I think they are celebrities. Okay. Fair enough. Yeah. It has to be something new. Yeah. Okay. Got it. Fair enough. Fair enough. Yeah. Cause I could see, I could see one of one or both of them announcing something because the last of us on game pass, the last pass, the multiplayer is exclusive to game pass.
00:40:48
Speaker
the the muppets version of it's a card-based shooter joe just throwing cards at people card-based shooter by card-based i mean they just flick cards okay i'm gonna have fun with this one i'm gonna say there will be zero brand new nintendo announcements
00:41:14
Speaker
Like we'll get some sort of, we'll see the peach trailer again. We may get another color of the smaller switch, whatever they're called, switch light or whatever. Maybe, I don't know, but I don't think there will be something that we didn't know from Nintendo that we will know. I think they're pretty, it's going to be a no show completely. Maybe so. Yeah, maybe. I can see it. That being said, when the switch two is announced here, I'm wrong.
00:41:45
Speaker
That way when Jack Black announces to switch to and Andrew gets his point and I miss out on that. That's the celebrity that shows. What are the odds that Jack Black sings the peaches song? He could be the celebrity that shows for Bowser. Yeah. If Nintendo does something, I can see Jack Black being the person doing it.
00:42:12
Speaker
That would be I hope he does that song. That would be I hope that's how they open the whole show. It'd be phenomenal. Matthew, your final prediction. Oh, I have three. I don't know which one to go with. I have to make sure that I want to say afterwards. Yeah, I'm going to do this one just because I think it'd be fun. I think Xbox announces a game
00:42:39
Speaker
that comes from the Blizzard Activision deal.

Speculating on Game Announcements

00:42:45
Speaker
Like this is not like, for example, they could say like Tony Hawk three and four are coming out that we're making it. Like there's not gonna be a trailer or anything like that, but they're gonna announce we are resurrecting this thing or we're putting out these games from this IP we just acquired that has not been being made or nobody knows about it or whatever.
00:43:05
Speaker
Yeah. So something from that, not talking like a new call of duty because everybody knows that's coming. I'm talking like something that's not, you know, not currently being made or no, nobody knows this has been going on. Something they green lit last week and they have a logo for, you know, basically, well, honestly, probably the way this has gone, something they green lit a year ago. It's just, they haven't been able to say anything or merger hadn't gone through or whatever. That's probably more, more likely. If you really want to cause
00:43:35
Speaker
the entire internet to explode. You announce a Crash Bandicoot game. I mean, something like that would be crazy, and it would just be like they did with PlayStation fans.
00:43:47
Speaker
PlayStation fans start burning like when a basketball player leaves and they burn jerseys. Everybody's just burning their old Crash Bandicoot. They're burning their own PlayStation 2. Right. But I'm thinking like something like what they did with Fable and it was just like, oh, by the way, we are making this game. It's going to be forever. But we're making something like it'd be that kind of deal like we're making Crash or we're making Tony Hawk or whatever. There's a lot of options they have. For sure. That would be so cool. Andrew.
00:44:17
Speaker
Final prediction. Anthem resurrection. I'm just joking. That's not it. I almost started typing. No, that's not it. It's Blue Point Games next game.
00:44:29
Speaker
Because it's been a while since we've heard from them. It has been. Their last game was Demon Souls, right? I believe so, yeah. I believe so. It came out on launch day, PlayStation. So they're working on something juicy. They're working on something juicy. It's been three years since that game's been released. They're making a Souls-like Spyro game.
00:44:53
Speaker
The real question is, are they are they remaking a game again or are they doing something? Are they doing a new IP? Yeah. I want to predict original, but I also want to hear that they did Bloodborne remake. So that's true. All right. I have some extras. So the one that I did not pick that I think is a for sure point is that we get a Death Stranding 2 trailer with a two thousand twenty four date.
00:45:23
Speaker
It was a little too much of a softball. I didn't really want to I think yeah, that's right. It's it's boring. But yeah, I think it's going to come out in 24. So I think we get that. Sure. Another one, a new PlayStation first party live service, like a new one of the whatever one of their new live service games that we don't know about. We get a trailer for it. I think I thought about it. I thought about it. And then another one that I'm
00:45:51
Speaker
I'm pretty sure it's going to happen because Remnant 2 was announced at the Game Awards last year. And we got the full gameplay blowout with release date at Summer Game Fest this year. So they're best friends with Jeff Keeley apparently. So I think we're going to Remnant 2 DLC.
00:46:13
Speaker
trailer for sure. Okay, but hopefully it's bigger than that. And it's like, here's to the remnant to DLC. Also, you know, this DLC is coming March 9th with cross play. Yeah, big, I mean, that would make sense because they just put it on game passes yesterday.
00:46:33
Speaker
Um, something like that yesterday. So throw it on game pass. Here's the game. Everybody play it for free. Also buy our $20 DLC that's coming out. Like, like it makes a lot of sense. I get that.
00:46:44
Speaker
So there's a $10 one out now and then yeah, here's the big, but I think this one will be probably like twice the size. Like it'll probably be a brand new area. Like the DLC that just came out is still in, is in one of the areas that already exists. So this won't be like brand new area, brand new enemies, cross play for console and PC or whatever.
00:47:04
Speaker
There's a new archetype in this current DLC. Yes. I'm just saying anymore. More weapons and all that kind of. Yeah. Yep. A hundred percent. That's good. Is that all yours? Those were all mine. I almost I put on Arc Raiders and then deleted it because they have that same team is doing whatever. Extraction battle royale shooter thing that just had a beta for getting the name of it.
00:47:30
Speaker
So I think and then they switched Arc Raiders to be in like a destiny type game to be in another extraction shooter thing So I'm less excited for it now But and I also think it's on the back burner a little bit. So yeah, yeah, I don't think we'll see that
00:47:46
Speaker
I had... Yeah, go ahead. Give me yours. Give me yours. Well, I had... When I crossed off, actually, I had a Pacific Drive trailer, which I'm personally excited about because I got to play at PAX, and it was really cool. I want that game. But they dropped a release date and a trailer about 30, 40 minutes before we started recording the podcast. I don't know what that one does. Oh, dang. I know, right? I think it said February 22nd or something like that.
00:48:12
Speaker
And then I just had two game trailers or teasers or something that we haven't seen yet, or haven't seen a while. I think a Wolverine something's got to come at some point. And so, maybe a Wolverine showing here, maybe don't know. And then also another one that I'm really excited about is the TMNT last Ronin. Like, what do we see? Like, it's like beginning of the year or something. And we haven't really heard of word sense. So.
00:48:37
Speaker
I don't know how far, that could be three years away for all we know, but just see, I don't know, it would be cool to see something. So those are the ones I had kind of written down. Andrew, do you have any X trees?
00:48:48
Speaker
I didn't, but I'm really hoping Hugh Jackman comes out and announces that he's voicing Wolverine for the Insomniac game. That'd be crazy. Remember this moment. You don't have to, you don't have to work out. You don't have to have muscles. You don't have to look strong. You just sit at home and go to microphone. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Wolverine.
00:49:15
Speaker
If it's not Hugh Jackman, I vote Arnold. That's my vote. That's pretty good. He was on the Pat McAfee or whatever.

Anticipation for the Game Awards

00:49:25
Speaker
Yeah. He's been on a couple of different things. He was in the Monday night football thing or whatever. So he's sitting at home. I don't know exactly how to feel about this game awards because
00:49:41
Speaker
I don't want, I feel kind of neutral. Like in years past, I think I've been more excited. Maybe it's just because there's been so many freaking games that have come out this year that it's just like, holy moly. I don't know what to tell. Jeff Keely has been very quiet. Very quiet. So I don't know if that means like, because obviously he doesn't want stuff to leak out a lot of stuff. Sometimes something does leak out. It's usually Naughty Dog related.
00:50:09
Speaker
And so I don't know if his being quiet is like, listen, we have some big time things here. So I'm not saying no one say anything for the next week because we have some crazy announcements. Because usually I feel like sometimes he tweets out like all like some years he's tweeted out like can't believe it's not butter.
00:50:30
Speaker
Yeah, I can't believe it's not butter. If you guys saw what I just saw or whatever, or like a lot of those ended up being Elden Ring announcements. Like when he announced the release date, he was like, you guys aren't going to want to miss this show kind of thing. We got the Elden Ring showing and all that kind of stuff. So he's been very quiet. So I don't know if this is good or a bad thing. And I also just hope that it is not a three hour long show.
00:50:56
Speaker
Yeah, I understand. If it is a three hour long show, I better be a lot of cool new announcements. Like, like I'll watch it for four hours if you just keep giving me new stuff. That's fine. But, you know, not just to listen to people sing songs or whatever. Um, but yeah, I'm with like Jeff Keeley. He's like, I feel like everything he does, Naughty Dog's there in some capacity and you just, I don't really know where Naughty Dog stands right now. I'm,
00:51:23
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know who will. I think maybe Neil Druckmann will be there to accept the word for the best for the show. It could be the two actors or one of them could be could be. Or it could just be Neil and the other director as well. Mm hmm. Or maybe they just it could be one of these that happens in between. You know, then they're like, we're going to give out six words right now.
00:51:52
Speaker
And then everybody claps and that's just one of them. And no one says anything. It's not like on stage one. Um, it'll be, it'll, it'll be interesting. Again, the game awards is next Thursday. I don't know exactly what time let's find out. Yeah. I wish now that we're thinking about it, I wish I would have predicted. I feel pretty confident. I bet Jack Black's there. Okay.
00:52:17
Speaker
I can, first off, he is the kind of person that would do that. Has he done that before? Has he been at Game Awards or something like that before? He's been at the Spike Game Awards. Remember he had that whole, he was like the host or something that one year. Yeah, something like that. But obviously like him as Bowser, there was, you want to talk about Baldur's Gate and Zelda having their like day in the sun on social media. He had quite a day in the sun on social media when that song came out with Pete. So I could see it. I could see it.
00:52:48
Speaker
I'm on the Game Awards website trying to figure out what time it starts and it doesn't tell me. Well, it starts whenever you want it to start. Yeah, we'll figure it out. It says like an egg and add it to the calendar. It says vote now. 730 Eastern. So I assume. I don't know this for sure. I assume the show starts at eight o'clock and then they they always did the pre show thing with Sydney from I don't know if she still works at it or not.
00:53:17
Speaker
Official livestream for the Game Awards 23 begins with a 30 minute pre-show at 7 30 p.m. Eastern followed by the main show at 8 p.m. Eastern. Probably 8 to 10. It says 7 30 to 11 right now. 8 to 12 baby. So hopefully it's like 8 to 10 30. 8 to 1 a.m. Don't make us go all the way. Was it last year or the year before where the final announcement was the Fast and Furious game?
00:53:45
Speaker
We waited the whole time. Yeah, I remember that. I can't remember that one though. You know what I almost predicted? I thought about right now that someone would go on stage that's not supposed to be on stage again. Oh no. Because that's happened like twice recently, right? That's two things. It happened to the Game Awards. We did our live reactions last year and then somebody came up during the Summer Game Fest one, two. Okay. The game, not Summer Game Fest, the games come, I think.
00:54:10
Speaker
Yeah. Gamescom. Yeah. I almost predicted that just because she's random people that go to these stuff and just like, I'm going to go on stage and I don't know. Say save the turtles or something. Who knows? Yeah. We just get someone dressed up as Harry Potter that goes on stage and it's just like, Harry Potter should have been nominated for shipping. And then cast a spell and then poof, they're gone. Everybody's like, whoa, that was a real. That's good pub right there.
00:54:35
Speaker
That's a real wizard. That's a real wizard. That was a real wizard. That's what everybody's reaction would be. That's a real wizard. That was a real wizard. That's crazy. Jeff gets, man, Jeff knows everybody. All right. Any final thoughts for me in the cell? I'm excited for the show, but I hope
00:54:58
Speaker
What happens each year is it's like super hype in the beginning and then it just goes downhill. I need them to maintain awesomeness all the way through. Spread some stuff out. Yeah. Like if it's going to be that way, make the beginning and the end really good. Like if you're going to have a dull part, make it in the middle.
00:55:16
Speaker
We usually lose interest halfway through. Yeah, halfway through we're like, all right, we're doing it. You know, we were doing this the whole time. Yeah.
00:55:31
Speaker
All righty. Well, we want to thank everybody for listening. Again, if you're watching on YouTube, hit that subscribe button. If you are listening to us, give us a million stars, wherever it is that you are listening to it. It helps us out greatly. We will not have a podcast next week because we will be uploading our live reactions to the Game Awards via YouTube basically as soon as it's over and I can get it edited and uploaded.
00:56:01
Speaker
So you can watch our reactions then, but that's going to do it for us. We will see you all again at the game awards.
