frog i As my fiance thought I said earlier, frog. And she was like, what the hell type of music is frog? And I was that's what you're called frog. Might be something in France. I don't know. But i with a hint of lime.
00:11:56
Speaker
The hint of lime is the key. i but That's my favorite part is that hint of lime. But I just call it fun. I just call whatever you guys are doing a good fucking time at the end of the day.
00:12:07
Speaker
wonderful Thank you. thank you guys and You guys have been lighting up my my Instagram algorithm since I started following you. And every time it just makes me want to Dance around, puts a smile on my face. So shout out to you guys for making some kick-ass music.
00:12:25
Speaker
Thank you much. Yeah, thank you, man. We really appreciate it We were shocked to find out you're from Ohio and that the Instagram algorithm is working. so Welcome to the internet, everybody around the world.
00:12:39
Speaker
It gets us out of our small little towns and and the entire world can can see what we're doing. It's awesome. Reels are necessary evil, you know, but we're doing it, you know? Yes.
00:12:51
Speaker
Social media in general is a necessary evil at the end of the day. For anybody who's going to try to do anything in the entertainment field, you have to. Unfortunately, you have to do it.
00:13:03
Speaker
You have to do and Yeah. Yeah. guys said your founding fathers. How long have you guys been together as a band? How long have you guys, when did you guys start? Well, Noah started the band like, what, 2012?
00:13:16
Speaker
or something like that. Well, it's been through many variations. like um i I'm from El Paso, Texas originally, so i would jam early, early versions of the songs with some homies oh out there.
00:13:29
Speaker
And then I moved to San Antonio in 2013. Had a vision in my mind, didn't know who to bring in at the time. um We didn't really start the band until like 2016, 2017.
00:13:43
Speaker
ah Back then it was a whole different group of members. We had a whole different sound. We had a rapper. um And it it was cool. It was a cool experiment. Um, but you know, it it wasn't, it wasn't where it was at. And so it wasn't until, um, you know, I talked to Gavin, we went to UIW in San Antonio together and we studied music industry and music therapy.
00:14:05
Speaker
And it wasn't until, you know, I approached him probably 2019, 2020 ish. Um, I think 2020. Yeah. You know, I'm like, Hey man, you know, I have these songs in my head, you know, you want to jam them with me. And,
00:14:19
Speaker
And lo and behold, Gavin had a creative brain too, and he wanted to get his songs out. And so there was a mutual agreement, like we're going to learn each other's songs, we're going to play each other's songs and make it the best that we can. And we've slowly been adding members throughout the years, and now we're up to seven members yeah in the band. Yeah, I was on the YouTube channel, and I was like, this is some old music and...
00:14:48
Speaker
I don't see anybody. I don't know if this is the right band or not. Yeah, no, we re we rebranded. It's a whole new band, whole new sound. Even the recording um ah ah that we just listened to um are two original members that aren't in the band currently, but um they helped us like get that song on the platform. Yeah, and everyone kind of contributed, you know.
00:15:11
Speaker
to the sound that is current, um Any Color right now. So if you've kind of seen us like at the like at that point like releasing Indigo for the first time up until now, like you'd agree that we're completely different band now. Yeah, completely different, but for the better. you know we got Jaden Pozada on drums, Ashton Roberts on sax, Ivana Gomez on violin,
00:15:34
Speaker
Gabe Gomez on bass. ah Carly Green on ah vocals, backup vocals. Nice. And then myself, Noah Slavin, vocals, guitar. and then And I'm Gavin Massey, guitar and vocals.
00:15:47
Speaker
So seven pieces, and we might add keys down the lines. It's a great, yeah. ever-evolving, ever-growing band. You guys are going to have to you know just have a ah bus just for your band members. yeah That's the dream. and this governor i mean At the end of the day, you look at you look at bands like Railroad. I think there's members and the graunk railroad you know they've got
00:16:18
Speaker
full-blown horn section and guitar players and keyboards and everything else. So who's to say you guys can't just continue adding? The goal is, like, I really envision a whole orchestra behind us.
00:16:31
Speaker
but And, like, maybe that's in the future, but i hear some of these songs. An army of didgeridoos. Just a orchestration. Army of didgeridoos. I mean, I'm for the didgeridoos. I mean, sign up.
00:16:46
Speaker
But for now, you know, we'll keep it a small seven piece, you know. No, you guys, you know, you guys are, like I said, you guys are definitely making fun music. Did you, did you have a specific style in mind when you started to get together or was it just like, we just want to make good music and have fun for me? Just do whatever we want.
00:17:07
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. For me, I've, I've been listening to them since I was in college too. Like I went to go see that first iteration of any color. And then when I was asked to be a part of it, I kind of shared what I was writing.
00:17:20
Speaker
um I guess it was just like whatever we bring to the table, it works. and um And that's kind of the goal. You know, any color you like is a representation of any sound that comes to us, really.
00:17:33
Speaker
And so a lot of these songs, you know, are like seven minute, 10 minute kind of. They have movements to it. There's different parts. um But, you know, a lot of it just kind of came to me um in my bedroom just writing over the years. And I really heard this kind of grand vision.
00:17:51
Speaker
And it took a lot of experimenting and different tempo changes and different cut out some parts, add some parts, you know, editing until we finally got the final forms that we have now.
00:18:02
Speaker
um But, and then adding sax and violin just added a whole new dimension to it. And so, yeah, like you know, that's why I'm saying the description is indie soul.
00:18:14
Speaker
So that's kind of like Gavin's side. he He loves the music. He loves, you know, just, good classic pop rock song or just you know that that kind of form that you're used to and then i like the weird kind of proggy stuff you know i love like animals as leaders and chan and rush and then 70s stuff and then pink floyd of course pink floyd that's where the name comes from um from dark side of the moon any color you like um But were we're trying not to be you know a Pink Floyd replica. We want to do our own thing. in that We still love to cover Pink Floyd, yeah but like i we are a Pink Floyd cover band, ultimately. That would yeah be pretty dope to hear you guys do a Pink Floyd song. We've done it many times.
00:19:01
Speaker
Come across that or hear. kind across center if you have a yeah you play that Have a cigar, breathe, time. We've done Echoes, which is a very rare one that people do. Yeah. And it goes, fits our vein, you know, 20 minute song, no problem. yeah yeah what Like,
00:19:20
Speaker
you know, I wanted to keep the vision of Pink Floyd, like the epic orchestration kind of vibe, you know? um and And that's that is how I think we represent to that.
00:19:32
Speaker
But it's totally unique. It's totally our own sound. We'll give you, like I said, like a seven minute crazy prog stuff. And then we'll go to Indigo, you know, it's just like short catchy, fun, you know, danceable.
00:19:45
Speaker
And we want to be able to experiment with literally anything. Like we're even talking about it in the future, incorporating some electronic stuff and, and just having fun with it. You know, music should be not limited to a genre is how we feel, you know, as far as your imagination can take you, man.
00:20:05
Speaker
If you guys can, if you guys can think of it, You should probably figure out a way to make it happen. We try. and Ultimately, you like, the the testament of the name, any color you like, like,
00:20:19
Speaker
we love music. We want to be true and honest about the music that we're putting out. And it's for anyone that's there because like we've been in situations where we've had people come up to be ah us and be like, we've never heard anything like that before. it was amazing.
00:20:36
Speaker
And we, and like, they tell us like what, what kind of music they like. And it's very specific, but like we are, a music for any for anyone that wants to like enjoy something.
00:20:48
Speaker
Yeah. like i really feel we can... you know, fit any kind of vibe. Like, you know, we've we've played in small little tight crammed stages and then we've played on a huge stage like an arena, you know, and we can adapt. Yeah, we've done acoustic sets.
00:21:07
Speaker
We can adapt. We love adapting. We love changing the sound and, you know, changing up the set list depending upon where we are and who's there and like what they're listening to, what the vibe is, you know.
00:21:20
Speaker
I remember doing a gig um with just our drummer and a keyboard player. And it was just myself. Nobody else could be there. And somehow we still made it work. Yeah. You know, like,
00:21:33
Speaker
like adaptation is like one of our strengths. Yeah, exactly. You know, as long as someone's down to, you know, rock out, we'll make it happen.
00:21:43
Speaker
As as we got, I mean, you've got 27 members to choose. moment you can You can get at least one or two of you together. More a collective. Yeah, collective, you know. Yeah. It's funny. People have no idea when they, when they hear us for the first time, they have no idea what they're getting themselves into. You know, we like that. We want people to go on a journey with us, you know, and, and kind of like, this them you know, yeah that's kind of, that's kind of, you know, I think, I think the first thing I came across was the, was the Indigo. You're, you're real for Indigo. You guys were standing there.
00:22:21
Speaker
got the, you got the, the the bridge painted with the yeah stuff like that i'm like okay a little punk rock i can get down with this and then i start listening i'm like wait wait a minute hold on a second did you Okay, hold on. i okay i'm like i didn't know where to go. I thought for a second I was like, yeah it was like ah like kind of like a schizophrenic ride for a I can get down with this. This is this is cool.
00:22:54
Speaker
you know I'm a self-described music slut. yeah if I find myself gravitated more towards like like if I'm in the car or whatever.
00:23:06
Speaker
it's usually like country rock or something like that, but I literally listened everything. Long call rides, man, my ADD brain kicks in and um and my playlist is everywhere. i mean, it could go from Iron Maiden to New Kids on the Block to Tupac, you know, just so I'm everywhere. honest it's the same Yeah, you hit shuffle, you get like jazz for me, you get electronic music, you get metal, you get you know, psychedelic you get, you know, hop, you know, everything. I love everything, you know, and there's nothing nothing I won't venture into, you know, that it's just for me, it's like, there's gotta be passion behind it. There's gotta be soul in the music. And, and if, if the artist is really pouring themselves out, I'm, I dig it. You know, that's, that's what I want to hear is just,
00:23:59
Speaker
That they care, you know? Yeah, I don't want to. I typically don't listen a lot of artists where you can tell that they could. They essentially phone it in. You know, they've got 15 writers and everything is produced, overproduced. And, you know, like, it's just like, okay, you're just writing a top 40 song. Okay, I'm out.
00:24:18
Speaker
You know? I'm good. I want i want to listen to music where people are actually... writing to write, you know, they want to write something good. They want to write something that people can feel, relate to have a good time listening to. like that's that's That's what I want to listen to. i think it's I think it's why I have such a love for the local music scene.
00:24:37
Speaker
No matter where the local may be, you know, um yeah obviously you guys are not local to me, and local sub yeah but People have something to say, and most of the time...
00:24:53
Speaker
they don't know exactly how to say it. And yeah that was me with Indigo. It was just a lot of things I had to say and wanted to say, not that it was like anything important or like nonsense or sensical. It was just that like, this is my, this is what I was thinking at the time.
00:25:10
Speaker
Please hear me out. And because going into it, we don't really think about it being relatable until it becomes relatable for someone, which we appreciate so much. You know i mean?
00:25:21
Speaker
Yeah, to hear people, you know, like, this line really resonated with me or whatever, you know, it's cool that you never know, you know, what that will be as an artist. You just got to strive be honest, you know.
00:25:35
Speaker
and and I think with that intention of just, you know, trying to pour your soul, someone's going to relate to it because it comes from a real place, you know. um And we're trying, you know, all of our songs cover, you know, everything from from heartbreak to the end of the world, ah know just love lost and love found, um you know, and then we just kind of do fun, crazy stuff to party stuff too. So it's like, you know, we we try to expand it to every emotion to really kind of reach out, you know, to places that people aren't really too familiar with sometimes, but that can hit a moment that, that does resonate with you, you know? yeah.
00:26:20
Speaker
ah Yeah, that's you know that's kind of the the goal is to just to be the mission. Yeah, just to be to hit hit important subjects, but in any type of vein, in any type of lane. you know The human experience is infinite. you know It's like,
00:26:38
Speaker
So to try to cover just a fraction of that in a three to five minute to 10 minute song, you know? Yeah. Like you said, screw it. Just go full on Pink Floyd, 20 minute song. Yeah, we love that. I mean, you you do you do a couple, ah you know, you do a couple five minute breakdowns in a song, allow people to go take a piss, go get a beer. Yeah, yeah. We have reflections where everyone gets a solo and jazz influence, you know. Yeah.
00:27:10
Speaker
Yeah, you know, we try to make everyone shine and give everyone their moment, you know. And you can really confuse the hell out of people. I mean, somebody goes to the bathroom and you guys are doing something a little heavier, a little more. Yeah.
00:27:23
Speaker
And you come back and you've got a brass section doing it a jazz number. It's like, did miss something? What's going on here? If you're pointing out, you're missing out, bro. Yeah. And if you go in expecting to hear something, you're going to get disappointed because...
00:27:39
Speaker
You can't predict us. You can't expect anything. We're going to throw something completely new and crazy at every time. Yeah, right. No, exactly. Always expect it. No expectations needed. Just know you're going to go hear some music at the end of the day.
00:27:57
Speaker
We kind of live by that around here on the network. just The bar is set very low at the end of the day. and now were know you know, if you're going to come check us out, you know, we will fucking rock out.
00:28:11
Speaker
Guaranteed. i' go to ohio yeah Yeah. Yeah. I got, I got to agree with blaze here in the, in the, in the comments. He said it would be a dope light show at the sphere in Vegas. Oh, man. That's the goal.
00:28:24
Speaker
Yeah, we got it lot of coming up at the end of the year. i just feel like I just feel like Blaze probably wants to take some mushrooms and chipmunks. again, could definitely be done. I'm not discriminating.
00:28:38
Speaker
But, no yeah, we would love that. You know, that's the goal is... You know, on the Pink Floyd grand scale, you know, ah eventually we would love a crazy light show, crazy visuals and just make it theatrical, you know, like from start to finish that you feel like you're in a movie.
00:28:54
Speaker
But we've changed like so much over the past few years and like we're still kind of getting settled as to like what's what's for sure, who's here, who's staying until we can like move forward into that, the the cinematic,
00:29:10
Speaker
Yeah, like it' it's hard, like we have so many songs, you know, so the la ah it's like, it's like, we're every practice. It's like, we only get a couple hours with they the band, you know? So it's like, we only get to cover this much out of what we have.
00:29:24
Speaker
sure it would be But yeah, you know, figuring out the set list, but it's also cool. It's like, like I said, you know, dependent upon the venue, we can adapt to, you know, the kind of stuff.
00:29:37
Speaker
but We don't want to overwhelm anyone with sound, at the same time, we want to keep you interested. yeah yeah you don't want to walk into like a hole-in-the-wall bar in Podunk, middle of Texas. and um We've done before. Completely go the wrong direction. in a What the hell?
00:29:56
Speaker
what the hell yeah we We're not mixing country or something. We're fucking up. We did a show in Brownsville for this festival. And right next door, like so we would be playing a song.
00:30:10
Speaker
And then when we're done, like it kind of dies down. And next door is this club. So when the song's done and it's kind of like silent in the room, all you hear next door is... Yeah. Which is why want to write an an electronic song. So it's like, oh, okay, I hear you. Just jam out. A little something for everybody. Everybody's going to be happy. Yeah, exactly. That's the goal.
00:30:38
Speaker
Yeah, they go to ah any color you like. yeah I'll tell you what, man. i was going ask you guys where the name came from, but it kind of just in
00:30:48
Speaker
weve been um creeping around and and looking for your guys' music, I figured it had a pink floor a very heavy Pink Floyd influence because that's all that came up when I put in. i i'm so had to put in the band name and Indigo, but even still, it was like Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd. Oh, there they are. Got them. And then they're like, oh, this song? And it's Pink Floyd.
00:31:13
Speaker
And we're like, no, no, no, no. We've got to fight that algorithm. but and The way to do that is just we got we're releasing more content. So right now, you know, we've had these two songs for a couple of years.
00:31:26
Speaker
And that's why it's been kind of hard to find us. But we've been hitting the studio really hard since ah September. And we got at least six or seven new tracks coming out. Including re-recordings of like old stuff. Like... like there may be a new version of Indigo. Yeah, with violin and sax. Violin and sax. And kind of different more thrashier.
00:31:47
Speaker
um oh and not in 432 hertz. Yeah, to play in different tunings um and different frequencies. ah Right now, it's like, I think we settled on 440 hertz just because it's hard it's it's hard to tune sax a little bit down, you know, and violin.
00:32:08
Speaker
ah But yeah, we've experimented with everything and we played it in you know different tunings. Right now we're in D standard tuning. So it's low. It's not too low, but it's pretty low. It's a little, you know, it's like, it's good. It has that warm bassy kind of feeling.
00:32:25
Speaker
And I feel like it fits our vocal range too, you know? um So we like experimenting, you know, and just different tunes and different sounds and I've seen a couple of the videos with the sax and the violin or fiddle, depending upon where you're from. hey yeah yeah what like a me it is it is they They are a dope addition, man. that That's a cool sound.
00:32:47
Speaker
But I got to say, your saxophone player, i'm I'm a product of the eighty s He's got to grow his hair out long, take his shirt off a little bit. We need sexy saxophone guy from the Lost Boys to be in the background. Yeah, right. Definitely. Definitely.
00:33:06
Speaker
We need the sweat. He's a you know? Ashton will be our PR guy. When we're talking to labels, we're going to send Ashton because Yeah, exactly. Roll him up, you know, tight jeans, take his shirt off, there you go. We saw this in the contract and we're out.
00:33:28
Speaker
Yeah, no, Ashton will shut him down. He's left. Yeah.
00:33:33
Speaker
and confrontation yeah know ashenmo set him down he's left yeah ah No, it is. you know For for a musical over, there's a lot going on, but it's ah it's a cool sound, man. It really is. you know And I like how you guys do the reels and kind of give everybody love.
00:33:54
Speaker
yeah And each you kind of definitely you know definitely keep doing that, allowing people to kind of have their spotlight, their moment, and show off there their skills. That's really cool.
00:34:05
Speaker
No, yeah. Thank you so much. That's kind of the the goal, right? And we do that in our music. Like, we'll give everyone a solo. And then I thought, you know, since we're recording right now, was like, yeah, you know. Like the other day, I just filmed Gavin recording.
00:34:19
Speaker
We're about to release a song called Orange, and it's going to be our next single. And so Gavin just ripped this nasty solo and like, you know, just giving him his moment or our bassist Gabe, you know, he was doing some super groovy, funky bass lines, you know, so just give him his moment and then.
00:34:36
Speaker
Ivana too on violin I'll give her her moment you know and I shared a little clip where it's just her solo and then same with sax where there's a funny clip on there where Ashton's being sassy and he's like give me my fucking space man like show our personalities and let everyone kind of experience our world you know yeah our songs are so long that we're only posting 30 seconds. So one song can give us like 30 pieces of content. i So it's cool. We're trying to do that. Show them, uh, show everyone our world. And then we're also, you know, we love to be dumb and and funny. Yeah. please and good to get The stoner playlist. Yeah. yeah yeah exactly so Thank you so much.
00:35:25
Speaker
And yeah, we we like to make stupid reels all the time. That's actually when we first started making reels. They were just super dumb, funny. Like ah we made a a Hell's Kitchen one.
00:35:36
Speaker
So it was so funny. Gavin does a perfect Gordon Ramsay. Oh, well, no, you can't. you can't We're not just going glance by that. I'll let you go. asked if that was an AI thought. No, that was me. Perfect Gordon Ramsay.
00:35:52
Speaker
So it was all of us like on the chopping block. you know and And so I'm like playing guitar and like fucking it up And then Gavin's like... like get the fuck out of here you know like i don't know but each person will like have their moment and gavin just fucking kicks them out of the kitchen but then like game he's like doing a funky badass bass line and gavin's like that's delicious love it i love it he's the only one that like got a groove here like it's fresh it's fresh but yeah check it out it's in our earlier reels but we love doing that
00:36:26
Speaker
My favorite reel is the seal one. Oh my God. Sometimes we'll do some shit that's just out there. Which ironically, the Mountain Dew seal episode came out a year prior of that reel.
00:36:40
Speaker
So we did, you know that song by seal. Kiss from a Rose. Kiss from a Rose. Oh yeah. I'm big seal fan. So we did a stupid reel where I'm like watching TV. He's watching a seal documentary about seal. Yeah, like the whole planet or whatever. Yeah.
00:36:55
Speaker
And then Gavin comes and he's like, hey man, what are you doing? and I'm like, I'm watching watching Seals. And he's like, oh yeah, I love that song. love Kiss from Rose. He's like, no man, I'm talking better about the seals, like the animal.
00:37:07
Speaker
And then we just like zoom into the seal and the song starts playing. Let's go off on some fucked up shit. And it's it's funny, you like. you know We'll do off-the-wall type stuff because that's where our heart's at. But then you know we're trying to showcase our music, too. We want to show how serious you are as musicians. Yeah. like The comedy feels are more about, like hey, this is a show coming up. yeah like Or just to show you know just have fun with it. yeah Yeah. i mean you know You can be serious, but you can still have fun.
00:37:39
Speaker
you know i mean you don't want to You don't want to lose that side of you where you know, you're all business all the time. Sounds like Ashton has that covered for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ashton's in both of those videos. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you watch it, we'll send you all the link. It's so funny.
00:38:00
Speaker
But yeah, you know, it's like, that's just who we are. Like, you come talk to us, we'll joke around with you. And then we love to share, our you know, music. and just like We want to be approachable.
00:38:10
Speaker
Yeah. Because we don't want to, like, We don't want to Neil Pertit and like hide ourselves after a show. Yeah, you know. R.I.P. Nice little name drop there. You know, like, all the, you know, some my favorite bands, like,
00:38:29
Speaker
when they've stayed after shows and like talk to the audience and sign stuff, like that's a moment that made me love them even more. yeah and I always wanted to do that as well. You know, it's like, I want to connect with the fans. I want them to know that we're super grateful that you spent the time to listen to us. You didn't have to. and Or buy merch or just hang out, you know, but you did. And like, yeah and we want to share that, you know, gratitude, but just, you know,
00:38:56
Speaker
We'll have a beer just, you know, sign something for you. Take a photo. Like, know. Kareem barbecue. Yeah. Well, sometimes our favorite thing is to get Kareem barbecue shows. So come on down. and You know, shots for everyone. know We want to be welcoming. It's the Texas spirit. You know, it's like.
00:39:16
Speaker
especially San Antonio too. It's like, you know, it's, I'm from El Paso initially. And when I moved down here, I just noticed the love, you know, it's like Paso is kind of a different vibe. I love El Paso too, but like San Antonio is very welcoming and,
00:39:31
Speaker
You know, even the music scene, everyone's super supportive and like, you know, everyone's sharing each other's stuff, you know? And so it's cool, man. It's a tight community. Yeah. We all know each other's business kind of. Yeah. It's cool to be growing simultaneously with, you know, people we look up to as well, you know?
00:39:49
Speaker
so um so it's just cool, man. you We want to extend that, you know, family vibe to anyone and everyone who's, who's given us their time of day, you know? No, absolutely. And that's one of the things I want to get out to San Antonio is that I want to get out there. I want feel that. I want to see and feel the music scene. Yeah, yeah.
00:40:11
Speaker
You know, so much about it. and And then, of course, there's food. treat You had a breakfast taco like with a massive hangover. yeah That's our cure, you know? Fabra-coa with green salsa.
00:40:26
Speaker
Yep. Eggs, bacon, cheese. Breakfast tacos, dude. All day. Green salsa. We got a little diner out here in Columbus over on campus.
00:40:39
Speaker
ah around campus And OSU. ah Right on. yeah and they've got They're open 24-7. And they're one of the only businesses, even during COVID, that stayed open 24-7. But they've got this hangover remedy, and it's just this platter of just everything greasy and filling, eggs, bacon, sausage, you know, taters, the whole nine yards, man. It was all those spots if we would go up to campus and party and whatnot.
00:41:10
Speaker
Before we left campus, we were going to this diner, and it's been around since like the 60s, and it's still there. Oh, man. We hit up the spot. It's Antonio. Sober up Yeah, sober up, and just i love love me a good hangover meal Ain't nothing best. Absolutely.
00:41:26
Speaker
When we go on tour and hit up Ohio, bro, be there. bro <unk> You guys go on tour and you're in Ohio, hit me up. Hit me up. We'll hang out. but yeah And that's really cool. you know that's one thing i That's the other thing I like about the the local musicians is a lot of them still do that, hang out after shows, spend time with their fans. I've been very fortunate even before I started doing this show when we just started broadcasting.
00:41:55
Speaker
um There's a band out of Texas, Blacktop Mojo, who have been Day one for us. We've been playing their music. They've been super cool. They've been on on the show giving us a couple shout outs from time to time. They actually came to Columbus.
00:42:09
Speaker
And I was like, I got to go see them. I've been a fan of these guys forever. But they were just playing at this little tiny bar, man. I was literally like two feet from the stage.
00:42:20
Speaker
They had an opening act that was local to Columbus, Rumspringer. And those guys were cool. They got done. Went over, was talking to them, shooting the shit with them a little bit.
00:42:31
Speaker
They wound up doing a town or doing a show in my my my hometown, which is is like this little podunk, middle of nowhere fucking town. And they're like, you ever heard of this place? I was like, yeah, I was born there. was like, They're oh, yeah, okay, well, how far away are I yes said, I'll be there about a half hour. So I went and seen the guys live and seen them live again. And then we hung out for like three hours afterwards, just just shooting the shit, hanging out, having a good time, had a few drinks, a couple other bands, a couple other artists that have been on here.
00:43:00
Speaker
I've had the opportunity of doing the same with them. I think that's great when they hang out, when you guys will hang out after a show. and socialize and interact with the fans or the people that come out to see you, it really, people look at you in a different light.
00:43:15
Speaker
You know, they're like, oh, these guys are cool. You know, they're just like me. yeah at the end of the day You know, it's like, and it's It's that love. It's that connection. and Like I said, when i when I experienced that with my favorite bands, it changed my life forever. They're still my favorite bands to this day because they gave me that opportunity.
00:43:35
Speaker
It's like something you'll never forget. you know and We want to extend that. you know it's like yeah We're just super grateful for anyone who gives a fuck about us. here like Yeah, let's hang. Let's grab a drink. you know like Yeah.
00:43:51
Speaker
do it later we did a show in austin and um two of um two these people who knew the other band that was playing with us uh came backstage and like they looked a little teary-eyed after our last song yeah i was like oh no what did we do but like like like they were just telling us just how much they loved it and how much it like it just it hit them and what all the while not intending for that reaction when we wrote the song, like it it made me feel so much better about it and like knowing i' like, okay, this was the right song to do. Yeah.
00:44:30
Speaker
And that's what I'm saying. Like, that's why we write such a diverse palette of music. Cause it's like, you never know which song is going hit someone, you know, as you know, especially hard and, and make them feel like,
00:44:45
Speaker
ah they're heard, you know, make them feel that, you know, they can relate to us. And they're not alone. And they're not Because feel same things. Yeah. You know? i Yeah, I think that's the biggest thing is that they, you know, oh, man, here's actually there's somebody else that's going through exactly what I'm going through.
00:45:02
Speaker
Like you said with Indigo, you know, you were just kind of, you were just throwing shit out there. I was having a lot of thoughts all at once when I wrote that song. Yeah, you were kind of word vomiting and just throwing shit out there and there's a lot of there's a lot of lines in there that I could see where they could they could hit people and and and whatnot and and and there's even from a couple that yeah as someone is also has ADD like has too much to say all at once and then sort to get right so this was a perfect opportunity to be like okay this is what I have to say yeah
00:45:37
Speaker
Just start behind me, I need five minutes, maybe 15 guys. Here comes. It's probably not to make a lot of sense, but but it works.
00:45:50
Speaker
Yeah, I've been looking like at a lot of like music marketing kind of advice stuff, right? And one of the big questions that came up is like what is your why? like What is your purpose?
00:46:02
Speaker
like Are you just trying to blow up and forget about everyone? Or are you trying to like make an impact, you know? So I really thought about that. And, you know, ah simple kind of why for us is like to relate to music.
00:46:15
Speaker
and I mean, to relate to people through the power of music, you know, to give someone a moment, something to hold onto, something that, you know, they can cherish. And long after the show, that moment stayed in their mind and it helped them through something or you know, maybe they needed to release some steam and that song got them through it, you know? yeah So just, you know, trying to help people in that way.
00:46:39
Speaker
And maybe it's just an escape. Maybe it's just a moment to forget about your problems and just to come rock out with us, you know, we could provide that for you. That's, you know, job accomplished, mission accomplished, you know? Yeah. That's like, you know, what Chaka? We see you down there in the Sanders box. What's up with your brother?
00:46:58
Speaker
No, i mean, you know, there's a lot of people, myself, including that, that music is our escape. It's our, it's our safe place, you know, quote unquote, our safe place. ah You know, I've said it a million times, whether it be on this show or various other shows that I'm a part of or whatever here on the network, that I'm a big one, if I'm having a bad day, man.
00:47:19
Speaker
I'll go put my windows down. And Jason Aldean, like for me, Jason Aldean is like my spirit animal. Because I swear, dude, I swear to God, it's like this man is living inside my head when he's writing songs because I've lived every damn thing, almost every song.
00:47:32
Speaker
So I'm crank up the stereo in my car. I'm on a back country road. You know, I'm zoned out listening to music 100 miles an hour, twisty, windy, curvy roads. And it's just my escape so that I can just shut my brain off and just just escape for a little bit. there's There's artists that have been on this show that are now permanently on my workout playlist because when I go to the gym and I'm working out, I'm in a mindset. So it's, this is my escape. I can escape reality and I have all these new artists and there's just, I mean, they're preaching the word to me as I'm trying to do what I need to do in the gym, but also process some of the shit that's happening in my day-to-day life at the same time.
00:48:13
Speaker
So, you know, musicians like yourselves, you know, you just hopefully have that moment for somebody, where they relate to, whether it's a line, whether it's a song, it's a show that you guys do, you know they might be new to you guys. And all of a sudden you come out there and you, you do your 45 minute a half hour show or whatever hour show.
00:48:33
Speaker
And it just resonates something differently with them. And it's like, Oh man, guys are kind of feeling what i'm feeling at the end of the day that's the goal you know and we love to do that and that's what keeps people coming back to our shows you know the the band members feel it too like um when we were in the studio doing indigo again um or just rewriting indigo for like the new parts saxophone violin um Ivana and Ashton came up with like these really beautiful parts for the song, like these little like melodies to it.
00:49:07
Speaker
And like there was yet another thing that I forgot to mention in the song. like like ah like It's not just the words that I'm trying to put up that people want to understand. It's also through the music.
00:49:18
Speaker
And when they made that melody line, there was like, oh, there's something I forgot to mention my song in my own song. And because it spoke to, because my song spoke to them in a way where they had something to say too.
00:49:31
Speaker
And that's how it all evolves too. It's like when we have these new members, we each have something to say and we want to say it in that song. Yeah. And give everyone their moment to say Highlight you know it's like i've seen bands that have you know violin or sax but they're very background but this is the opposite with us it's like they're front center you know they'll wail a line or ivana will do something really beautiful on violin that just pulls you in you know it's like it's a moment that makes you slow down and then ashton um the sax player he went to north texas and studied music there so he's got that jazz background he can shred
00:50:09
Speaker
but and Just to hear him and like his thoughts through sax, it's beautiful. It makes you think. it's It gives you a moment to stop. and it's like And he knows how to write a damn good solo, too. you know so like Everyone is super talented in the band. Everyone in their own respect is a brilliant musician.
00:50:28
Speaker
And so like it's it's humbling and a beautiful thing to all come together and write stuff. We all have our time shine in our moments. ah But yeah, man. That's cool, too, for you guys to hear, you know especially with so many different personalities.
00:50:49
Speaker
Because I'm sure not all of you are the same person, obviously. That would be incredibly fucking and boring. Yeah. yeah that way That would be incredibly fucking boring to go into the studio if you guys were all the exact same.
00:51:02
Speaker
But with so many different personalities, and you guys said there's seven of you currently, um When you guys come together and and you're writing new music, is it usually just the two of you or do you guys come together collectively as a unit and write together or do you bring something to the table and then they're just like, hey, what about this here and that there?
00:51:22
Speaker
It'll start with like a few of us. um like With Indigo, it was Noah and our old bass player in the room, me telling, hey, this is my song, what do y'all think?
00:51:33
Speaker
And then... um Ivana, our violin player, and Noah brought a song together and they're like, hey guys, what do you think about this? So like it usually starts with either some of us or most of us in the room.
00:51:46
Speaker
And then when we have like some form of an idea, we were like, we come to each other be like, hey, what do you think about this? Yeah, like they'll bring the skeleton. Someone will bring the skeleton and then we all kind of fill it out.
00:51:57
Speaker
But, you know, as as we're recording and as we continue to grow, like I want us to have that Beatles element where each person has their song, you know? Gavin has his song. I have my song.
00:52:09
Speaker
Ivana has her song. um Carly, she's our singer, has our song. um Even Gabe. So Gabe's an incredible bassist, but he's an amazing guitar player too.
00:52:20
Speaker
wonderful songwriter too. And so he has a song too. Completely different vibe, completely different feel, but we're totally going to do it because we want everyone to shine. And then Jaden, our drummer, is a fucking beast, a monster. And he comes from real people.
00:52:36
Speaker
metal kind of proggy just background and so math rock math rock but background and so like it's really cool to hear jayden's input on stuff and like we have a song called ghost that we in the middle of the song there's solo sections but jayden really helped flesh that out and and and make it into just an evolving movement instead of just random solos. So like, we each have our solos, but it's all leading to the pinnacle final moment, you know, and yeah that with his beast playing, you know, so it's like, it's really, it's really cool. Like we all bring something beautiful to the table and we all make the song better than it ever could have been alone, you know, writing it ourselves, you know?
00:53:22
Speaker
and there's no shortage of ideas and and let's try this, let's pick out this, you know let's change this part, you know let's add this harmony. you know And it it's always evolving. you know Even the songs that we've had, even Indigo, like we've had Indigo probably the longest,
00:53:38
Speaker
And it's changed and evolved to this day. Like you should hear it now. Crazy. Yeah. So like that recording was, yeah, five years ago, maybe four years ago, but now it's like crazy. has all these pauses and breakdowns and kind of facts and violin and just different, you know, elements where, ah it shows the growth. It shows you that each person's personality. Yeah. You know, with, with all the new stuff you guys are working on, you've got, um,
00:54:09
Speaker
They've got a remastered remake version of Indigo, which now you've got me excited to hear. because i love that it's really That's a great fucking song, by the way. i love it.
00:54:21
Speaker
um um I'm digging what I'm hearing of Orange so far. kind of You know, but you guys got anything else that's coming out? and I mean, if people follow you guys at...
00:54:35
Speaker
That's an ACYL official on Instagram. You'll see everything. ACYL music. Music official, my bad. My name ACYL official. but Do not go to YouTube. Do not go to YouTube and type in ACYL because that is a death metal band. Yeah, yeah. I didn't even i didn't even know that. So it's like i searched ACYL and yeah, they're like a...
00:55:00
Speaker
tribal or like metal bands they're a little intimidating a little scary not gonna laugh yeah they're kind of cool they sound kind of cool no um acyl music is our handle on instagram and all platforms um you or you could just type in any color you like san antonio but it's not calore because uh Any color you like, the British spelling, C-O-L-O-U-R, is actually a Pink Floyd cover band. We're not a Pink Floyd cover band, even though we occasionally... You're really not helping yourselves here. Yeah, yeah. It's important. It's important.
00:55:38
Speaker
A-C-Y-L music. That's us. And we're to put this algorithm because I'm posting every day, I promise you. But yeah, so our next single, hopefully should be done within the next month and in March, is Orange. and And after that, we're going to release more of our progier stuff.
00:56:01
Speaker
The next song will be Ghost, which is like a 10-minute song, but it's super cool. It has all these movements, has the solo section that I'm talking about. um We have another song. It's about when the sun explodes in four billion years.
00:56:14
Speaker
And it's kind of the it's kind of our end of the world song, but it's- Nice. positive message to love one another, but it's so crazy. It's like, you know, it's all over the place. We're all going to die. Yeah. Let me tell you. You know, but yeah, that song has the chaos. There's all this crazy stuff in it.
00:56:37
Speaker
That song is called sun stare. Um, we're working on ah couple more. ah we got ghost. Uh, yeah, I said ghost, uh, indigo, um,
00:56:49
Speaker
some some Some ones that we might re-record as well. ah Godspeed, which is the other song that we have. That is a very... Pink Floyd-y song.
00:57:00
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I dig it. Yeah, i dig it. i be I be on Resident You. It's another kind of six, seven minute progier song. um So we got we got a lot of stuff coming out this year.
00:57:14
Speaker
we plan to, you know, as soon as we drop something, we're going to just market it heavy and then move on to the next song, market it heavy, you know, so. yeah You know, initially we wanted to write an album and just drop the album, but that's in 2025, you can't do that. You know, you literally have.
00:57:29
Speaker
and A lot of artists are just, and that's one of the questions I always ask, you know, Again, not to date myself, but as my kids say, I was born in the late 1900s.
00:57:41
Speaker
But, you know, we always had to look forward to the next album. Yeah. You know, when's the next Guns N' Roses coming out? When's the next Tim McGraw coming out? When's, know, Garth Brooks or Tupac?
00:57:54
Speaker
You know, you didn't get this. You would get a release of a single, but it was usually right around the time the album came out or you got me the like a single or, you know, the As we got older, we had the CD, but you know, a lot of the new artists and and especially guys like you, the up and coming musicians and stuff, you guys are just banging out single after single after single after single. then it's like, all right, we've got about 45 songs.
00:58:19
Speaker
Let's put them into seven albums. and Yeah, exactly you and that's kind of the goal because it's like we do want to drop an album. But the the reason to drop single after single is like everyone's attention span is so minuscule these days. Thank you, TikTok.
00:58:35
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. And it's only getting worse and worse, you know. So it's like if you drop an album and you expect people to listen to it start to finish without really promo, it's not going to happen.
00:58:46
Speaker
you got to highlight each song and give you know give the special moments for each song and let people relate to that and then when we drop an album we're probably going to add like maybe three bonus tracks that haven't been played that way there's a uniqueness to the album there's something the fan could look forward to but you know doing single after single is kind of what most bands are doing that that's what you have to do to survive but um You know, we're stoked for it because it just means we have content for days. You know, it's like we never run out of content because we can always eat. Like I said, each song is like 10 minutes or whatever. So do 30 seconds here, 30 seconds here, 30 seconds here.
00:59:28
Speaker
And like, it's, it' there's something new. Another song, sorry, that we're recording as well that I forgot to mention is called Starshine. And that one is another like seven minute, 10 minute song.
00:59:41
Speaker
um It's our kind of, we like to just- It's our unofficial Dune soundtrack. Yeah. It's about being heartbroken in the desert. So we always reference- dude.
00:59:54
Speaker
Stuck in the desert and heartbroken? Jesus. Let's go back to talking about the sun exploding. All the trade is a sad boy. Yeah, exactly. That'd be a quick and through the desert, the slow, painful death. Come on The singles kind of work out anyway. yeah If you notice, there's songs with color names.
01:00:21
Speaker
a So far, orange and indigo, and we also have a violet. And we've done a yellow a few times, but like eventually like all the colors will be on there, and then you get to put them in the order.
01:00:32
Speaker
Yeah, that's cool. Of the Roy G. Viv spectrum. and i was happy Are they going to tell a story when you put them in order? or is it just It won't be anything like super linear. I think it's just it's gonna be it's going to be connected through some musical motifs, maybe a few lyrics.
01:00:50
Speaker
But I think the one concept is just like... how we're all feeling. Yeah. And like these colors like reflected in a way. But the songs that aren't colors too, like we do want to tell a story. Like we're very space themed. We love space.
01:01:07
Speaker
We love like just, you know, sci-fi kind of universes. Yeah. You know, so it's like, we want to tell the journey from, you know leaving earth, leaving earth to like, just going into infinite worlds unknown, you know, easy major Tom.
01:01:24
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. i want to law yeah getting lot And like how each song, like The initial thought when we were first writing it wasn't to connect it. But now as time has passed and we've written these things, we see how they connect. And like we want we want that story to unfold. Godspeed would be like, this is the beginning of the journey. You're getting into a You're about to travel. You're coming with...
01:01:53
Speaker
you're coming to terms with the decision that you made. and then that goes into like, oh, the universe is so beautiful and so wonderful. and then even like starshine is like you land on the desert planet, you know, or whatever. Yeah, you know, and so like, we want to tie each song into a ah ah concept eventually. And it's funny how like, we didn't plan for that, but it's kind of all coming together now, you know.
01:02:19
Speaker
And then the the color spectrum is different though. Like, it'll be cool to come back to it because we do, you know, not everything is color names, but when we group everything into like the Roy G. Bib or, or even the other colors too, we're going to have like turquoise, turquoise and maroon and, you know, all these kinds of, you know, and that's going to be a different concept as well. So it's, it's coming together. It's coming together. Oh yeah.
01:02:49
Speaker
Untrackable. Love you brother. Hope you're doing good out there. Love you too. Thank you. That's That's our extended family right there. Little brother from another mother. Oh, rock on. That's our boy.
01:02:59
Speaker
That's our boy on Trackable. Yeah, man. You guys you guys are just, I'm digging it, man. Like a little spacey vibe. Just kind of, hey, we're we're we're on this. We're on this ride. Let's let's see where it takes us. at the yeah exactly In the end, we want it to be a journey.
01:03:17
Speaker
You know, you come see us. We want to you know take you through all every emotion and every feeling and take you through different worlds and landscapes and atmospheres. and and and you know You're right there with us. We want to introduce you to our worlds, our universe. I feel like when you guys... you know i'll set little your equations I feel like when you guys...
01:03:38
Speaker
sell out arenas. And when you guys are doing an arena show, you're going to walk in and there's going to be a guy at the front entrance. Kind like when you go to the movies to see a 3D movie and there's a guy that hands you the 3D glasses.
01:03:49
Speaker
There's going to be a guy who's to hand you a pamphlet He's going to hand you a pamphlet and a bag full of drugs, and that pamphlet is going to be okay. This song, you take this drug. This song, you take this one. I also want Gorilla's holograms to be there, too. Like, we're going on this hallucinogenic space journey with you guys, and I ain't never done drugs, but I'm kind of like, I kind of want to get tickets to this. I kind of want to take this ride. it' right No, we definitely want to take you for a ride. How you approach that ride is up to you. We're going to take you there no matter what. yeah i can see you guys at like one of the you know the the multiple raves. We have Lost Lands, which is a big one just right down the road from me.
01:04:39
Speaker
like i you Lost Lands, Burning Man, something like that, and see you guys definitely headlining and performing there. Y'all are fucked up anyways. just stay It's day two and a half. Maybe it's day 27. Nobody really knows at this point.
01:04:53
Speaker
But get ready. Buckle up, because here we go. yeah let us look Our next show, um have a Screaming Javelina, right? Yeah, we're we're about to play a music festival called Screaming Javelina, and it's an it's out of Kingsville.
01:05:07
Speaker
um And yeah, we played there last year and it was a bunch of the the college students who are throwing it but it's it's gotten bigger and bigger and bigger. And so this year where we got asked back again and they they said they're going to put us at a dope slot and it's, it's just fun. It's a crazy kind of festival vibe. So, um you know, and we've done other festivals in the past. I've even worked a lot in San Antonio to put on festivals myself, summer vibes, winter vibes, summer vibes. And so I've done crazy shows where I've booked 60 bands over three days and,
01:05:43
Speaker
I worked with her San Antonio Current, and we put on 100 bands. I definitely have to stay in touch with you because yeah my ultimate goal my ultimate goal in about three to maybe five years, I want to do a Thursday to Sunday music festival here. We'll get you.
01:06:05
Speaker
um only But i'm only doing it but I'm only doing it with acts that have been on my show. That'd be so cool, man. Yeah. And I've covered rappers, country artists, rockers, you know you guys. you know i don't i don't i don't you know i don't discriminate. If I like the music,
01:06:25
Speaker
if i like the music i'm i'm hit i'm hitting people up like ah yeah you know so i want to I want it to spotlight all my former guests, a little Glicks House of music Music Festival, but like a four-day event, which is bringing and everybody in.
01:06:41
Speaker
If you've already done that stuff, I right have another guy on on that's that's that I've interviewed again. yeah We might be able to do something here. and I've got a couple ideas for a couple venues here in my area, here in Ohio. It would be really cool.
01:06:56
Speaker
help and like We've done it. I've been doing festivals too for the past like eight years almost. so I love music festivals. We like to put on the scene as well. you know yeah so I'm all about it, man. like like Glick's House of Music Music Festival would be awesome. yeah Brought to you by the Nonsense School Network and Miller Lite. We've got get Miller Lite on board. No.
01:07:23
Speaker
no um yeah So i've got I have a general idea, like but I would love to hear it your guys' words. What do you guys like collectively as a whole? What is your stage presence like?
01:07:36
Speaker
I mean, I can only imagine... what it's like.
01:07:45
Speaker
find a stage big enough to hold seven people. We have room to walk around and run around like, we'll rock out. You'll see us head banging. You'll see us just jamming and Gavin soloing, he'll be up in your face.
01:07:59
Speaker
Melt my face, Gavin. Melt my face off. Yeah, he will. He fucking will. I just bought a wireless. I'm going to be running in the crowd. yeah oh yeah And our our singer Carly, she does that already. so like She's super interactive with the crowd. Yeah, like in the middle of the song, she'll just run up to the audience and like dance with them or like get them hype and start to clap or whatever. like We like to be interactive like that. you know and And then we'll have our moments where we'll chill out, do some kind of sad stuff, some real stuff. Really definitely. What the song, what part of the song it's calling for. Yeah. You know, we like to, it's an emotional rollercoaster, you know, like the ups and downs and, and let you feel with us. And it's not always hype and it's not always down. It's, it's a, it's a mix. You know, it's like,
01:08:50
Speaker
It's like being bipolar. Yeah, yeah. you i mean that's you know No one's happy every day and no one's sad. It's like we want to be realistic, but also in the end leave you with a rocking song that you're just going to be some form of closure. Yeah. You know, we're almost going to leave on a good note, you know, we'll take you through it though. We'll take you through Don't, yeah don't leave me in the desert heartbroken. Sandworms are going to get you.
01:09:16
Speaker
pull you out and make you rock. Also, if you follow fanw worms go get now you we'll pull you out and make you rock also if you follow you right back. Yeah. Yeah. That's another belief in our statement. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. We'll say that firsthand experience, you know, you guys, I, I try to, I try to be very good about following Cause I run all of our social media here on the network and I try to be good about following people, but I'm also a little weary. I'm a little hesitant because you gotta be mindful of the bots and the, the,
01:09:56
Speaker
we'll boost your viewers by 10,000 views if you blah, blah, blah. But i tried to I tried to follow everybody real back that follows us. and And you guys were you guys were quick to hit the follow button. but You guys were quick to hit the respond button on the um the messages. was like well We used to follow everyone right away, but I'm also kind of like, okay, I'm only going to really follow people who are like super digging us, you know? And yeah we also we had a we actually had a local problem with like, with the harassment thing and just someone just following the band and,
01:10:35
Speaker
making them uncomfortable and filming without their consent. like You guys had a stalker. made the It was another band. We all came together, all the local bands, to spread awareness. you know so We're always on the lookout for you know some fucked up shit. you know but now It's a safe it's a safe space with us.
01:10:58
Speaker
the san antonio community is really like Close. That's cool because like are there yeah you you you hear the horror stories from back in the day. this is This is one of the topics that we've talked a lot about on this here show, um the different communities.
01:11:14
Speaker
And I love the fact that the music community, whether it be you guys in San Antonio or the Nashville music scene, which we all know the Nashville music scene is huge. Of course. you know, wherever various artists are from, the communities aren't like they used to be because back in the day, man, you hoard the stories that they'll step on their grandma to get ahead, let alone some other, some other schlub that's trying to do the same thing they're doing, you know? And I love the fact that the the music community has come together and you guys, you guys are an actual community nowadays.
01:11:46
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, you got your bad apples out there, but you're going to have that everywhere. Yeah. But I love the fact that you guys are an actual community and you you guys work together and and and and take care of each other. That's awesome. and you know It's all about keeping ourselves safe and the people that we care about. because like people in our band, they're intertwined in the lives of other people in other bands.
01:12:08
Speaker
And like, it's just like, it's like, we can't turn back from that now. Yeah. So it's it's important to look out for each other, you know, and we want to continue to foster that in community, that safe space. And, you know, we want people to have a good time at shows and not have to worry, you know, it's like, that's, that's your right as a human, have a good time without having to worry, you know, so.
01:12:31
Speaker
So if you're in a local if you're listening in you and you're in a local band, like invite everyone like and make everyone feel comfortable, but also just watch your back a little bit because you don't know who you're interacting with these days. Yeah.
01:12:45
Speaker
But we're quick you know we're quick to catch on who's who shouldn't be there. Right. um and I turn into a gangster real quick. was away like the The podcasting streaming community, you know we we want to look out for each other, but we also know there's a lot of shitbags out there at TMD today, let's be honest. and and and I'm quick.
01:13:07
Speaker
and I'll be real quick to turn into Marlon Brando and the godfather I'm going to go ahead and excommunicato this motherfucker. I'm going distance. I'm going to let other people know, like, hey, let's keep your distance. This is what happened.
01:13:24
Speaker
This is the situation, you know, type deal. Because, yeah, I mean, unfortunately, ah there's a lot of good ones out there. There's a lot of good musicians out there, but you still have your your shit bags that want to just fuck everything up for everybody else. You know what mean?
01:13:39
Speaker
Yeah. And at at the end of the day, that's all it takes really is one or two shitty musicians that put a bad taste in a venue's mouth. And then all of a sudden they're like, yeah, no, we don't, we're not, we're not doing local bands anymore. We're going to, we're going to reach out to the,
01:13:52
Speaker
you know, the nineties rockers who are still floating our out of the nineties country guys who are still doing something or whatever. Some, some hip hop artists that had a one hit wonder 1998, the hell with the local scene. We're done with those guys. We've got a couple bad experiences.
01:14:13
Speaker
um we're work're We're cool. like we We definitely help each other. and like Word spread so quick of that, dude. and and It was cool to see that we all had each other's backs. That's fucking awesome. We don't want them at any one show. exactly Yeah, exactly. yeah you don't You don't want them hanging around. i mean you know Whether they're they're going to influence you know local businesses on how they feel about the music scene, or, you know, you definitely don't want to make in your fans feel some sort of way. if They don't feel comfortable. They don't feel safe.
01:14:50
Speaker
You know, they're they're not going to come out and see you guys. Yeah. And that kind of kills the whole purpose of what you're doing. the end of the day, you're just, you're just making reels, you know. Trying to rock. Just trying to rock.
01:15:05
Speaker
Yeah. I don't want to make 30-second reels the rest of my damn life. You know what I look like? Logan Paul? Yeah.
01:15:13
Speaker
Suck at Logan Paul. Yeah, I know you and your idiot brother are little shade.
01:15:26
Speaker
yeah the The guys who made it big from Ohio for no reason. but um i've got I've got kind of an idea, but I always like to ask, ah what do you guys nerd out about? What is your what is your thing that you, but outside of music,
01:15:42
Speaker
What is your one thing that you just like, man, I'm ah um i like um'm ah i'm a huge, I'm a sports guy. I'm a wrestling guy, obviously. I've got, these are custom-made nonsensical belts back here behind me.
01:15:55
Speaker
This one's actually going to get an upgrade. This one's going to be my Texas Music Championship here very soon. But, you know, like, i' and I'm a gamer. So, like, what do you, outside of music, what do you do? Totally.
01:16:06
Speaker
Smash, Skyrim, Halo, Elden Ring. Elden Ring. Like, we love to game. i bought My whole life, like, i should I should have been practicing, but, you know, I was fucking gaming.
01:16:18
Speaker
Like, i was gaming hard. It wasn't until, like, 10 years ago that I started taking it more seriously, you know? ah But yeah, gaming is our bread and butter. Like, you we would spend just all night, you know many times playing Skyrim and just doing quests and doing crazy shit.
01:16:38
Speaker
You know, me and all the musicians as Antonio, like, love Smash Bros. So we're always, like, fighting. That's a beautiful community building thing, you know, slows and Smash Bros., you know?
01:16:52
Speaker
We've even brought Smash to, like, brought smash to like like festivals and stuff. yeah got a big Yeah. We'll have it going on in the background and there'll be a band and then there'll be people just gaming.
01:17:04
Speaker
We love you know and then We love movies too. like Gavin's a huge fan. love movies so freaking much. okay but What kind of movies are you into? What's your what's your genre?
01:17:15
Speaker
What's your forte? My all-time favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption. nice I really like some of the Stephen King adaptations to film.
01:17:27
Speaker
um I'm also, like I don't know how everyone will feel about this, but I'm a huge DC guy. Let's go. Let's get it. So I really like the Zack Snyder movies.
01:17:37
Speaker
I think they're fun. I like the direction that James Gunn's taking with the new stuff. Yeah. I'm kind of an optimist when it comes to that. I'm with you. out it like um online and I'm like i guess i'm just i just want to see a movie i with you, man. I liked what Zack Snyder did. with He did what he could with what he had to work with. I thought he did great.
01:18:00
Speaker
I love the cast of Justice League. I'm a big DC. I'm a comic book nerd. I'm a big DC guy. um I think Zack Snyder did a great thing. i am anxiously awaiting to see if James Gunn puts his touch onto the DCU. It looks a lot lighter.
01:18:22
Speaker
it looks a lot and like He has like a really cool, like unique story because like the whole universe thing is just getting old. yeah Everybody's doing it, man. um I also, me and Carly, we're in a weekly D&D group, and we play D&D with some of our friends.
01:18:40
Speaker
um That's another thing I'm not surprised at all. We're nerds. We're nerds. We're also food snobs. like We love, we're huge foodies. like We love foodies.
01:18:52
Speaker
go out, try new places all the time. Like I probably spend 90% of my paycheck on food. Noah opened my eyes Korean barbecue. yeah We go to a few spots that nobody else goes to.
01:19:05
Speaker
Yeah. So we always do that. Sushi. We love sushi, ramen, and you know, all that. It just, just We love good food. Late night street tacos. Yeah, street tacos. Late night street vendors, when you're especially if you're feeling, you've had a good we'll just say if you've had a good night.
01:19:24
Speaker
Yeah. And you come out of an establishment at 1 or 2 in the morning, and there's the street vendor there, and they've got tacos or hot dogs or brats or whatever they've got Those those so are angels sent down from heaven above.
01:19:39
Speaker
Exactly. yeah Nothing better than coming out of the gig all fucked up and then just a steaming plate of tacos or dogs or you know, right in front of your face. is That's the best.
01:19:53
Speaker
That's my bliss. That's my heaven right there. yeah Yeah. So we're always trying new places. ah And then, you know, just hanging out too. Like we'll, we'll just, we like hiking. um We've done that a couple times. Like I love to just go out in nature. there's a lot of really cool hiking trails over in San Antonio. Yeah. Like all over the place.
01:20:15
Speaker
Super fun. I want to, you know, take us on a tour where we go through like big bend and all the nature spots through Texas and stargazing there's a really cool place called the mcdonald observatory uh that i want to take us through and you know i'm a i'm a big fan of nature and big fan of just you know taking it all in and just loving everything around us so um but yeah you know that's stuff stuff stuff that just inspires you you know um we we like
01:20:46
Speaker
we like We gravitate to those kind of things. you know exactly Do you guys so
01:20:58
Speaker
do you do you guys partake in... I don't know why I'm beating around the bush. It's legal most everywhere. Do you guys smoke weed? do you guys Or do you guys do anything else?
01:21:11
Speaker
love Texas. cannot inhale. You guys are killing me all night with the stoner laugh. And I say that because Blaze, who was in the chat earlier, he's one of the guys here on the network. He's our resident stoner.
01:21:28
Speaker
okay and And there'll be times where it'll be the most Simplest thing. And he drops that little stoner laugh. And I lose my shit. like i Sometimes I have to turn my camera off.
01:21:42
Speaker
I've had a stoner laugh my whole life. So it's like... so you're not That's just who I am. I've just accepted that. And whether or not I am under or not under the... Partaking in enhancement and drugs. It's up to you to decide. It's up to God. I like to go hiking stargaze and just look at the universe. i think we can all figure it out.
01:22:06
Speaker
I don't know what you're talking about, bro. That's just what I like to do. Implications. You are welcome to plead the fifth. I'm not a cop. I'm not a cop. I just i guess like when when we're performing, we we don't really do that until like after or like when we're back to practice. Like I think when we go into like the mode of it all. like we want We want to be as focused as possible.
01:22:38
Speaker
um I will have a beer before I go on stage, but that's about I'm always curious about that. And that's something that i do ask a lot of artists. you know are you Are you, and we're speaking alcohol only, if you're a drinker, you know do you like to perform if you've got a, and I'm not saying going up there being fucking blitzed out of your mind but just a little like a little buzz you know yeah um on the nerves if there are any or anything like that to this day i've been i've been performing for like maybe 13 years of my life and i've always had the pre-show jitters like always and i think it's not it's not that like i'm like doubting my ability or anyone's ability i just i always get it because something can go wrong i don't want to miss a note blah blah blah
01:23:25
Speaker
But like I think just having like just like one beer before I go on, it's just it's like, okay, I can like be a little loose right now and like just wait until we get started. Because once we get started, it all goes away.
01:23:37
Speaker
yeah it's just let's go It's just like it it builds up, it builds up. And like right as we play, it's gone. And i was like yeah you now I'm in my zone. um like i i it's just everyone in the band is just so supportive already and we look at each other yeah we give each other looks of like you're good and i'm like yeah i'm good now because like we're all just looking after each other even on the stage even during that's awesome like for me i used to i used to smoke and drink like heavy before i would play gigs and there was a time where it worked but it was always like hit or miss right like
01:24:13
Speaker
You'd never know. It it was 50-50 straight up. You could be completely on it or you could just fuck it all up, you know. And so as I've gotten older as a musician, like for me personally, like i I play my show sober because it's like I know myself like even if I have like one beer, like.
01:24:32
Speaker
I forget. or i just i do something dumb that I shouldn't have done. And that's just me. That's just how my brain works. And and so, like, after after the show, yeah, let's drink. You know, let's have a good time.
01:24:44
Speaker
But, like, during the show, I want to give, for me personally, I just want to be fully present, have my mind clear. And we play a lot of notes, you know? So it's like... at Don't say.
01:24:58
Speaker
Yeah, it's like, seven you know, and it's like, You know, if you're kind of daydreaming on stage, you're going to lose track, you know? yeah I try to be as sharp as I can for the gig. After the gig, let's have a good time.
01:25:11
Speaker
That's my, that's just me. Everyone's different. Everyone does their own thing, you know? um But that's just how I work, you know? I totally understand that. used to be like that. When we first started doing and our main show, we were doing it three nights a week.
01:25:30
Speaker
And I drank every show. But then I started going back and and i started listening. And like you said, tired man good a good chunk of the time, and it was like, i was spot on, like, boom, boom, boom. Let's do this show. let's that But there were those moments where it was like, yeah, sound like that. Yeah, exactly. yeah I want to reduce those moments as much as possible.
01:25:57
Speaker
you know I want to ah want to be... fully present and I want to give my full ability, you know, and not to say that there's anything, you know, some people can perform fucking amazing, perfectly, flawlessly drunk or stoned, you know, and more power to them.
01:26:14
Speaker
that You know, as I get older, I can't do that and We're not all the same. Yeah. You know? Yeah. and i Yeah. No, everybody. And that's, and that's what it was. You know, was like, all right, I'm going to, um but I'm going to reserve my drinking for the Saturday night show because that's what it's for. Saturday night, we cut loose. We have a good time. and very rare like This is the rare occasion tonight.
01:26:35
Speaker
But I'm unfortunately ah not by my choice. Spending a lot of time at home these days as I look for a new job. So it's like, feel that. I feel that.
01:26:49
Speaker
um a couple drinks. yeah Yeah, but I'm not going to get hammered or anything like that. um But we like to party. We do party. Reasonably and responsibly. Always, always. Always party responsibly, kids. say I say that because as I was...
01:27:13
Speaker
right i say that because as i was Well, I would like to pretend like I was busy today, but I forgot to get on YouTube and change this to not kid-friendly, which I'll do that later. up, kids? we're in co you What up, little kids? You like to do drugs? You like to drink? You want to be a rock star? Yeah! That's 225, hold on, man.
01:27:41
Speaker
yeah towards twenty five
01:27:46
Speaker
Did you just say I just turned 25? Wait, what? He said class of 2025. Oh, yeah. I thought you said I just turned 25. I was like, oh, God, I hate my life right now. No, we're getting up there. I mean, I'm 29. I'm turning 29.
01:28:06
Speaker
Yeah. So we're still kind of youngish, but I don't know if I'm the older. I don't know if anyone's older than me. Yeah. Jaden's definitely the youngest player in our group. drummer is 20 and is the best musician out of all of us. You can't even perform in a bar with him right now. know. we were somehow Yeah, like, you know. You got you gotta to jump out in the parking lot, Jaden. Sorry. As soon as he loads up, he has to load out and get the hell out of it.
01:28:37
Speaker
Kind of sad. The band I was talking about earlier, they had a drummer, and I think he was 18 or 19. and And that's how it was. He'd come in, set up, and then he had he had to leave. you know And then when they did that show at that little... Fortunately, it was like a restaurant slash bar.
01:28:58
Speaker
So he was able to he was able to he was allowed to be inside. But they made it clear that he was not old enough to have a drink. like yeah He's underage.
01:29:09
Speaker
Oh, the other guys were a great, but yeah, they made it very clear he's under 21. Jaden's turning 21 this year, so we're going to fucking celebrate. Ah, nah, there you go. We're going to have his blowout party for his birthday.
01:29:25
Speaker
um And it sucks because he's in another band called Sloth, and they're fucking awesome too. You should definitely have them. Sloth? yeah Yeah. They're super cool, super thrash. They're our homies for sure. Shout out.
01:29:38
Speaker
um But ah Jaden's always telling me that, like, you know, they want to play these venues and they they can't even fucking get in, you know, and it's like it sucks. ah They're just little guys. I know. So we're introducing Jaden to all over 21 venues, you know, like, and eventually they'll play, you know, as well.
01:29:59
Speaker
ah But yeah. Eventually they'll turn 21. Yeah, eventually they'll turn 21. I think my my ownest my oldest bonus son is 26. Oh, yeah. Oh, wow. My fiancé's oldest is 26, and then her our other son will be next month.
01:30:18
Speaker
my my oldest is nineteen I've got 19, 15, 11, and they've all got birthdays coming up here in the next few months. So it's like February, March, April, May, July times two because my fiance's birthday's in July as well. and My youngest son's in July. So it's just like, boom, take that wallet. Oh, yeah.
01:30:43
Speaker
Enjoy. You're baking up. Nerf season. Can we go back to just paying bills and not paying for birthdays? Because that would be great. So yeah so you guys, is is everybody in the band, ah you guys all pretty much from the same area? Yeah.
01:31:10
Speaker
ah Yeah, we're all from San Antonio. We just all live in different like suburbs and areas San Antonio. Yeah, Noah's in Leon Valley, and that's where we go to practice.
01:31:22
Speaker
i'm in Me and Ivana are like in northeast side. Jaden is over in um like- Leon Valley too. By Leon Valley a little bit. we're kind of We're kind of all over place in San Antonio, but like everywhere is just so accessible that we don't really have a problem with meeting and stuff. We do like weekly um band practices.
01:31:40
Speaker
Whoever comes can come. We mostly have like a full room. But um sometimes not not everyone can make it We have to like take into account of life. and um we'll do As we've learned tonight, you other five, you're on our list. Everyone had the link, all right? I did job. I said, hey, seven, seven, seven, seven
01:32:08
Speaker
If this was like a studio, I think people would come. Yeah, all right? You get everybody in the same room. Yeah. the um yeah that's So it sounds like, Noah, you're in like the rich, white, bougie neighborhood, you know, in the valley. yeah And then poor Gavin's in the ghetto. He's over in the northeast. I'm on the outskirts of the rich, right white, bougie area. But like... um I don't know. the Where I live actually has cheap houses.
01:32:40
Speaker
ah So I rented a house with my roommate. And I used to be in a shitty apartment in the nice part of San Antonio in the north side. But it was just not worth it. It would take so much for it, for a small apartment.
01:32:53
Speaker
And it was just, you know, I was tired. It was like seven years in this piece of shit apartment. And I need a house, you know. i want to jam. want practice, you know. so Yeah.
01:33:04
Speaker
moved to Leon Valley, got a really good deal, like that almost like $100 more than what I was paying for. I got a full house in Leon Valley. Oh, nice. Yeah, you can't believe that. It's totally worth it. And it's changed our our practice game. It changed the band just to be able to meet in the house and like not have to worry about you know anyone and we can just rock out and our neighbors are cool.
01:33:29
Speaker
you know So it's like And we used to have to um like scrounge up like whatever cash we had just to get like a practice spot. Yeah. and like that And like that put pressure on us because we we only booked like an hour and 30 minutes. Go get jobs, you lazy ass musician.
01:33:48
Speaker
Oh, we do. Everyone does have a job. That's part of the reason why they're not here. Yeah. and this yeah yeah Yeah, hippies get a job. What's matterly the you? I can't wait to quit to just do music full time. I got a job every time I heard, hey hippie, get a job.
01:34:08
Speaker
yeah i feel you so much on that note, man. Honestly, I cannot wait until we've reached the pinnacle where I can just do this. I'll do...
01:34:19
Speaker
i'll do i'll i'll do i'll do the shows that I normally do. And then I'll do an extra show seven days. I'll do a morning show seven days a week. If it means my bills are paid,
01:34:31
Speaker
and And I can maybe upgrade my living. said no and We got a nice little place, little condo. and the only downside is this wall right here is literally my neighbor's living. so fortunately Fortunately, they're young.
01:34:44
Speaker
and And I think they're pretty cool. I haven't met them yet. They just moved in. So this is their living room. and i'm like And I'm in my bedroom. So it's like, man, I hope I'm not like that.
01:34:56
Speaker
pissed off at me. I like, yeah, like I said, I can't wait until the day I can do this full time and get paid for it, man. And not have to worry about having a job. Like I said, I'll do my normal shows and then I'll do a show Monday through Saturday in the morning, I'll do a morning show. I'll put together ah a group of people where we can do a show every morning if we're getting paid and we're and we're taking care of stuff, man. I i would love to do this. So I feel you guys on that. Hell yeah, man. We really want tour.
01:35:27
Speaker
Keep your vision high. Yeah, we're planning a tour. But, like, yeah, you know, that's always been the end goal is, like, to make it out, to do music full time, you know? like And, you know, i'm I'm trying to set myself up. So that way, hopefully...
01:35:41
Speaker
One day we'll be there. already manifesting you guys in the arenas. I'm already manifesting you. I'm manifesting you in a full podcast studio. need an executive producer.
01:35:53
Speaker
yeah executive yeah i need an executive producer and a social media guy. All I got to do is turn my camera on and be like, what's up? I'm here. We're going to get there together.
01:36:08
Speaker
Absolutely. but i think you guys you guys are You guys are fucking awesome, man. and i think what i guys have something You guys have something different and you have something special with the way that you guys do your music. that You don't pigeonhole yourself into this is who we are, or this indie pop, rocky band or anything. like we were You guys are like scientists in the music world.
01:36:32
Speaker
yeah yeah At the end of the day, you go into the lab and you you take some concoctions and you mix them together and it's like, this fucking works.
01:36:42
Speaker
Let's fucking do it. Let's go. You know what I mean? so That's really cool. That's the beautiful part about music is it's limitless. You should be able to experiment and make a crazy concoction. My favorite thing in fourth grade was to make science experiments at home. Put all these chemicals in a bag and see what fucking happens. I love to experiment and explore and things that people aren't doing because i love to experiment and explore you know and it's like and do things that
01:37:13
Speaker
people aren't doing because you know that's where I've always been gravitated to you is to try something different, you know, try something new. and And this is the perfect place to do that because, you know, we'll we'll come back home and we'll do centered stuff and stuff that you people are used to. But then we'll do shit fucking out there, you know, and like and that's what's fun. It's like it keeps us on our toes and we never know what we're going to come up with next. And I love living like that. I love it.
01:37:42
Speaker
you know I'm not tied down. my audience Our audience doesn't expect a certain sound from us all the time. They already know that we're fucking any color you like. where yeah feel a little red today. Yeah, exactly. i want to blow up knowing that the audience knowing that they don't know what to expect.
01:38:04
Speaker
That's the crazy thing. A lot of people will associate colors with mood. you associate a lot of people will associate colors with mood And you got, yeah and and and we and obviously, I mean, there's a reason why we've been talking about Indigo so much, but Indigo kind of has that vibe ah like, I'm feeling a little red today. Like I'm angry. I'm frustrated, you know, and but but then you bring it, you know, Indigo being another, you know, on a different part of the spectrum, it kind of brings you down because it's you're hearing somebody and Gavin just releasing that shit. You're like, man, I came in here angry.
01:38:39
Speaker
I'm still a little bit angry, but I'm also a little bit, I'm a little mellowed out. i'm a or you know Or a lot mellowed out because you know he's he's just saying all the things I want to say. Indigo is like the the reflection period because it's that color right before the last one.
01:38:55
Speaker
And so like it's like a reflection of what we've been talking about and thinking. And when Violet comes into play is like this is the end of the journey. And so we wanted to reflect that through the music.
01:39:07
Speaker
It's like... Like, not, like, when you hear, when you, when you, when you hear orange, for instance, you're going to in thinking, like, orange, what does this mean? And, like, not everyone has the same, I, the same, like, connection, like, color meanings. Like, indigo is, yeah, it's the second, the last color, it's near the end of the journey, but, like,
01:39:30
Speaker
like The reason why I wrote Indigo in the way that it was is because of the word go in it. I wanted to write something that says go, go, go, go. go yeah Then um orange was the lyric, I'll be all right as sure as a bright sunrise.
01:39:46
Speaker
And um there's the orange flare to that. Like when the sun's rising, what's that color or setting? And then um there's yellow. It's about a certain heartbreak.
01:39:58
Speaker
Green is about like, just, I don't know what green will be about. And then blue is like, just being like, just be okay with everything. Like, I don't really associate say blue as a sad color. It's like, cause I love water.
01:40:11
Speaker
It's a healing color to me. yeah So there's blue being the healing factor. Indigo, here's the reflection. Violet, here's the end of the journey. No, I agree with you on on the color blue. Cause water's my happy I love water too.
01:40:26
Speaker
i used I used to live on the coast. i used to live down in South Carolina in Charleston. and even now you know Even now, most of my journeys when I'm having a bad day, I end up at whether it be a river, a lake, or whatever. but i used to i and I used to find myself, whether I was down at the Battery, the Port, downtown Charleston, or one of the beaches, in the middle of the night, just just kind of just letting everything, you know, all the bad, the shit, that just the negative, just go and find in that peace because the water's always been my happy place. So I, you know, i never thought of it that way with the color blue, but that's hell of My most peaceful.
01:41:04
Speaker
Yeah. Sorry, sorry. I'm so sorry. No, no, no. god I was just going to say that's a hell a way to think of it from now on. and And then our red will be our metal angry song, you know, so that's going to be the more thrashier. Which will be cool. it It'll start off as this big, huge sound, crash and metal. And then it's like the last note will ring out and then suddenly just orange, just like this soul out of nowhere.
01:41:30
Speaker
and like And that's the journey of it all. Start off as just like like push you off of the clip a little bit. But we gave you a parachute without you knowing. yeah got and you a soft line Yeah, yeah. But then we're going to shoot you out in You're bringing it right back to the desert. You're broken hearted. The sun's going explode. We're all going to die.
01:41:56
Speaker
it's a magical It's a magical journey that you guys are going to be here anymore. This place sucks. We're truly men of the Renaissance. Renaissance men.
01:42:15
Speaker
yeah i So these these other songs you know with the colors and and and this and this journey, I'm ready to take this fucking journey. I really i really truly am. like I'm ready to go on this journey. Have you guys already started writing these songs or do you just have ideas of how you want them to play out and how you want them to go.
01:42:36
Speaker
oh we' Yeah, yeah we've we've worked on a lot. like We have a good skeleton of a lot and of a lot of these songs already, but they're still neat you know they still need the meat and potatoes on them. you know Like Yellow, for instance, we've done it a few times.
01:42:51
Speaker
um i It's just we haven't done it while because it's it's like it it needs something else. like well We'll give it a try at a show or two, but then we'll come to the conclusion that it's it's not ready yet.
01:43:01
Speaker
yeah and We're always constantly cooking, always constantly working on stuff. And right now it's like, we're kind of going through this first phase of Any Colors, like these songs that I've written that I started the band with like over 10 years ago.
01:43:16
Speaker
And they're not all color based, but they're kind of spacey, you know, and kind of like just out there songs. And so we're getting these done first, then we're going to lean more into the color spectrum, you know.
01:43:29
Speaker
um And then, you know, we we'll have the the oddballs, stuff that's kind of not, Either or. We have one called Take a Trip that's very much like that. um Yeah, and it's like, that's our funk song. like It's our kind of disco song.
01:43:44
Speaker
And it's our dancey kind of vibey song. And that's a brand new one too. And it's just about you know having ah your boyfriend, your girlfriend, you know taking him on a trip. Just to get out. Just to get away. Wherever or you're in.
01:43:59
Speaker
Yeah. yeah So it's like... a Yeah, like we you know we want to have something for everyone in every show. And not just be cliche with it.
01:44:11
Speaker
but also, you know, it's just share the human experience with everyone. yeah And there's even like ah still a bunch of old ones that Noah wrote before the current lineup was even together. There's one called Chiminera.
01:44:25
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, like ah another kind of disco funk and then, know. It's very lo-fi. Yeah, lo-fi, you know, and ah I just have a bunch of different stuff that I've collected In my bedroom over here. it's just Take a trip was out of nowhere. we yeah like He was like, hey, let me show you this real quick. And we're listening and I immediately started writing lyrics.
01:44:48
Speaker
hello um and then And then he was like, we got to do it. yeah And that was one of the few where it was new, we tried it and like everyone just loved loved it instantly. yeah So there's a lot of stuff cooking. like On my phone, i've I've literally had iPhones since I was probably...
01:45:05
Speaker
I don't know, like 12 or whatever. So I've had voice memos just stacked and stacked and stacked. And every time I get a new iPhone, all those voice memos transfer over. So literally on my current phone right now, I have like 60 gigs, I shit you not.
01:45:21
Speaker
You know, voice memos of ideas and stuff. And it's cool because if i'm if I'm ever feeling uninspired, I just, what did I write last year? What did I write in 2012? What did I write in 2015? I'll take it i'll take a piece of that and kind of bring it a new life.
01:45:37
Speaker
And so a lot of these songs kind of came from that too. It's just like, oh, this little riff I did when I was you know bored of shit and it's super cool. And then I bring it to Gavin and then Gavin adds a whole new element, a whole new layer to it.
01:45:49
Speaker
yeah And then then we bring it to the rest of the band and they add their own color to it. And it's just, it's cool. Like it gives, it gives these ideas new life. And so we're always trying new stuff. Like I said, there's not enough hours for practice to to go through everything. but It keeps us going. You know, we're we're always ready to try something different. yeah guys Sorry. ahead.
01:46:13
Speaker
Go ahead. Go ahead. My bad. No, no, no. Keep going. I don't know what he was saying. Noah really helped me out with um recording. I can still hear you guys. I just got to deal with my So ahead.
01:46:28
Speaker
Noah really helped me with like using voice recording things. And just just today on the way over here, like I just got some ideas for lyrics. And I would just like, I won't sing them. I just have these sentences and like phrases in my head. And especially like with a day like today, I just like got them out. And if they didn't have to line up. They didn't have to be really connected with anything. it was just about what, like,
01:46:54
Speaker
these words and these sentences sound really important right now. Let me get them down so I can remember. Because usually I'll think of a song um the car ride home, not think about recording voice recording it.
01:47:05
Speaker
And then the moment yeah the moment where I think about i want to voice record it, it's gone. It's That's how it is. I'm always recording any little idea. ah Even if I only have a word or a phrase that I like, I'll sing that over and over and over just to like get it. Or I'll just hum. I'll be like,
01:47:22
Speaker
This is what I think the ly the melody should sound like. Like, da, da, da, da
01:47:31
Speaker
then can take a trip yeah you know it's like just anytime inspiration strikes you got to capture it and then worry about you know forming it later on but it's yeah important to capture the wild feel the wild energy you know and worry about later you know i'm an old I'm an old man. I have have a notebook.
01:47:58
Speaker
That's Stone Age technology, bro. I dig it. I dig it. And I tell you what, I'm not worried about my search history. I'm not worried about anything else.
01:48:11
Speaker
When I die, i have somebody designated to burn all my notebooks, not because there's anything bad in there, but because I look like a lunatic. yeah it's It really is like the ramblings of a madman. I just shorthand, prehand stuff like like
01:48:32
Speaker
like I have stuff that I can't remember, and then I have to go back. like I have a timestamp, and it says I can't think that dumb. like What the fuck is that? so See, I used to do that too. I used to write things down.
01:48:46
Speaker
What do I mean? You don't get have except you read it 10 years later, like, what the fuck was I talking about? yeah you know like you That's why a voice memo helps because you can just talk freely and about the idea, give the whole atmosphere, the whole vibe of it. yeah And then you come back to it. you're like oh wi which is whyre but like I know everything in my notebooks, my various notebooks that are scattered around where nobody can turn except for the person whose job is to burn them when I die. They know the exact location.
01:49:18
Speaker
i It's all podcast related. So I know that it's in some form or some way like I wrote down time stamp for the reels for you guys with the Gordon Ramsay and the Seal thing.
01:49:30
Speaker
Three days from now I'll be like, the fuck is reels? 38 minutes. Yeah. manifest and'll And I'll have to sit here and think for a minute and I'll go, oh yeah, I want to find these reels.
01:49:40
Speaker
I want to clip this segment. I want to put it up as a reel of my own so that other people can hear it or, you know, whatever. so it's just like, yeah i look at I look a lot crazy when you read my notebooks. Yeah.
01:49:53
Speaker
Which is so important that we've been using the voice memos for our practices. We voice record every practice. yeah Because some practice will be not as tight as others, which is like for us to be like, hey, like this part, make sure we you do this or that.
01:50:11
Speaker
but then like sometimes we'll jam so right then sometimes there's just that practice where it's like it's tighter than the live performance and then and then like there's something that someone did and we're like hey where was that and then please do that again and that's how like a lot of the recorded stuff right now is in it because we captured it we did it we did it at a show or a practice where someone did like this line And then we're like, we loved it so much. Please do it in the recording.
01:50:39
Speaker
Yeah. Cause we have it. We have a reference to it. Yeah. So I'm telling you. How long do your, um, like your, your, your practice sessions and stuff like that.
01:50:51
Speaker
How long do you guys usually, usually go for? We don't really look at the time. Sometimes. you usually you just go out Like I wish it could be longer. At minimum two hours. Yeah. Like ah Like I said, there's so much that we would love to work on, but everyone has to work the next day or has something going on. So it's like we always try to meet each other at least for a little bit, you know. And the most important thing is like if we're doing new songs, we'll cover those. Or if we have a show the next day or whatever, just run the set, you know.
01:51:24
Speaker
But ah that the other what we've been doing a lot is sectionals. So it's like me and Gavin will just work on guitar parts or like me and Carly will work on harmonies or like me and Ivana will work on, you know, string parts or whatever. Ashton and Ivana work on parts together. You know, Jayden will do a sick fucking drum fill and like we'll work on that, you know? So it's about just meeting constantly, but with whoever is available and then,
01:51:51
Speaker
hopefully before a show we can do a full band. Yeah. You know, yeah but that's kind of the, fear how dare them real have a life outside of the music world.
01:52:03
Speaker
Shame on that. That's my goal is to get so rich that I just pay everyone's salary and like you work for us. for us weird color core Yeah. any a color appropriated yeah just Sounds like a um in Where do I sign up?
01:52:21
Speaker
you have yeah but I'm to start my own call over here as well. It's not called so good because my guys on the other shows that co-host with me, they like to kick me and kick me and kick me and they try to keep me down.
01:52:37
Speaker
mean, feel you though, like, and i mean i feel you though like in previous iterations of the band, I've worked with people who did the same thing to me. They didn't like my songs or they tried to keep me down in some way.
01:52:50
Speaker
And, you know, the thing is i was persistent. I did not fucking give up. And, you know, band members came and left and yeah kept going. And then I eventually, we we got these guys together and, and I'm so happy I didn't give up and you can't listen to those negative influences because they're all around us every fucking day.
01:53:10
Speaker
you know my friends, my family, you know like who who so you think are supposed to be your biggest supporters aren't. I'll see you in the morning. love iing like so i actually I'm actually a co-host on a show with him.
01:53:29
Speaker
see you know It's about finding the people that do support you, that do support the vision, that are excited to do something with you. And everyone who isn't in that circle, fucking kick them out. you know you know Yeah, man, get the hell out of here. you know I joke. I joke. The guys that I have, the the guys here on the network, and i we've got an amazing circle of guys. like It sounds like you guys got an amazing band.
01:53:56
Speaker
you know i Shout out to the guys because, yeah yeah, we might have our issues and and stuff like that, but, man, anytime I need one of them, they're right there.
01:54:08
Speaker
but excuse me. And we did, and I did. i went through, man, we went through some former co-hosts. We went through some former shows that were that we were trying to expand and create a network with, and it was just like,
01:54:22
Speaker
The vision wasn't there, man. So I totally understand and I feel you, man. And it's just like, this is my dream, y'all. Like, I don't know about you guys, but this is my dream and this is, I need you guys on board with me.
01:54:34
Speaker
So I'm glad you didn't give up, man. I truly am because I'm a new fan to, you know, any color you like. And I'm looking forward to watching you guys grow and and and so much more music coming out.
01:54:48
Speaker
I really am at the end of the day. So yeah, man, that speaks volumes that you're like, Exactly. i leure just you know And it's like persistence and consistency, dude. It's like, that's it. If you have the dream, it's your dream for a reason. And it's no one else's dream.
01:55:07
Speaker
And so if you share it and you don't get support, guess what? Keep sharing because you got to attract your tribe. You got to attract people like you, man. you know you You were attracted to us just because i we didn't give up. I kept posting reels. I'm like, I can reach someone outside of San Antonio and low and behold, here you are. All the way out in North Florida, as we like to call it.
01:55:30
Speaker
We call them South Ohio. you know Keep doing these podcasts until you reach the fan base that is attracted to what you do. attract your tribe. and That's what I've always been. It's like,
01:55:43
Speaker
Someone messaged me the other day. They're like, man, I don't know how you guys vibe. I wish I had my own vibe. And I was like, create one, create your own vibe and attract, you know, be a vibe, be a vibe yourself, man. You know, you, we all have that magic in us.
01:55:58
Speaker
You know, we have that creative spark and, ah you know, it's up to you to feed that because if you can't believe in yourself, no one else is going to believe in you. You have to set your mind, be delusional about it. I'm fucking delusional. You know,
01:56:15
Speaker
yeah i am so i mean I call myself the goddamn champ. And I say one day, one this is like the guys bust my balls because i have this problem with Joe Rogan. And i don't know why. Fuck me, Joe Rogan, if you're listening.
01:56:34
Speaker
I love him as a UFC commentator. His comedy sucks. His podcasts are actually pretty good. I just don't like the guy. For some reason, I don't want to fight him because he'd kill me.
01:56:45
Speaker
Let's be honest. I'm not that delusional. but i you like I'm like, one day one day, when people mention Joe Rogan, they're going to mention me and this network right beside his name. They're like, you're out of your fucking mind.
01:57:00
Speaker
They're like, you're crazy, dude. I'm like, it's going to happen. I want a Grammy. um yeah One day, Roger Waters is going to hit us up and he's going to be like, you know what, any color you like,
01:57:12
Speaker
I fuck with y'all. I fuck with the vision. Come on tour with us. Come on tour with us. David Gilmore going like, I see what you kids are doing. Yeah, I see you guys are doing. yeah No, man, you've got to be slightly delusional. you got to be slightly egotistical.
01:57:30
Speaker
But like you said, man, you've got to have those people behind you that believe that what believe in what you're doing. at the end Exactly. Attract your trust. And I feel the best way to do that is consistency.
01:57:42
Speaker
persistence, you know, and persistence is like, you just keep doing it Don't show up for yourself every day. And that's what I've been really trying to do with the band is like, show up.
01:57:54
Speaker
And, you know, i I value them so much. It's like, I couldn't do this shit alone and I don't want to do this shit alone. It's not a solo project. It's a collaborative effort of everyone's input, you know, and it wouldn't be anything without them.
01:58:08
Speaker
You know? Yeah. And so, you know. The guys yell at me a lot. The guys yell at me a lot because I put the weight of everything on my shoulders. I'm like, it started with me.
01:58:21
Speaker
it It dies with me. So, and they're like, no, we got you. We got you. We got you, man. Stop it. You know, like, we're we're here. I understand what you're saying, man. Like, you know, you you just kind of carry that weight and carry that burden.
01:58:34
Speaker
But at the same time, it's like, if if If we die, it's because of me. But if we're successful, it's because of all of us. team right And it's like in the end, there's always that one guy that starts it and like holds everything, you know, but that there has to be that guy, you know, it's your vision in the end, you know, and like you have to make the the rest of your group or whatever, believe in that vision. And the only way you can do that is if you're consistent and you actually put in the fucking work, you know, it's like, if you're half-assing shit, which I kind of did when I first started, I was half-assing and, you know, the band just fell apart, you know, and it wasn't until I set my fucking eyes on the prize and was full in,
01:59:24
Speaker
that they started coming to me and that, you know, people, we they started to believe the vision and they add their own ah contributions to it and it makes it even better. you know, it's like, but you have, you know, whoever starts it, it's like, you gotta get on your back, man. You gotta fucking walk up that hill because when you're at the peak, bro, with the band behind you, with your group behind you, looking over the horizon, look how far you've came.
01:59:50
Speaker
It'll be fucking worth it. You guys are sold out. 50,000 people in the arena. Fucking call us The Sphere in Las Vegas, bro.
02:00:02
Speaker
Fuck yeah, we deserve this shit. you know We worked our fucking ass for this. you know it's like Eyes on the prize. Never fucking give up. Every day, you know show up for yourself. you know so More importantly, with all that, like we want to be honest with our music.
02:00:18
Speaker
We don't want to We don't want to bullshit anyone. we don't want to We don't want to make anyone feel like you're hearing like a half-assed written song. Even though sometimes I fear that I did that.
02:00:29
Speaker
But like if we're honest, if we're true to what we're writing, i think people will gravitate to that a lot more. It's not some piece of popular content. It's not...
02:00:42
Speaker
some crowd pleaser, it's this is what we wrote and we're gonna perform it for you. And if you don't like it, that's okay. yeah And if you want to if you love it, we appreciate you so much.
02:00:55
Speaker
And just know that if you didn't like it, we probably have another song that you're going to sing. Yeah, right. That's something for everyone, you know? But we're honest, honest musicians. And if we weren't, don't think we would be talking to today. don't think we would be.
02:01:10
Speaker
Fuck that ego shit, man. Your ego's not your amigo. Yeah. You know, it's like. I got to remember that. Yeah. but It's called in a notebook so I can later go, what the fuck is this? Yeah.
02:01:23
Speaker
like it's the fine line. Like, yes, ah you know, I have my visions high, but I'm also, you got to be a down to earth person. You got to be humble and you got to know when you're wrong and you got to accept defeat. Like if Gavin calls me out, Noah, you should have done this here. And then I'll be like, no, you're wrong. Like,
02:01:41
Speaker
But then I'll listen to it. I'll be like, all right, you're right. Be that person where you can be teachable. you know Be that person where you can accept criticism. And not all criticism is there to attack you.
02:01:56
Speaker
It's there to make you better. i mean, it depending on who it's coming from. But if it's coming from my bandmates, I know they're trying to make it better, not fucking tear me down. I got it.
02:02:09
Speaker
I struggle with that a little bit because sometimes I want to like criticize some of the guys on the network. God damn it. I almost sound like an asshole because I just spit. I've already beat the poor guy down over like two other things.
02:02:25
Speaker
And here I come again. But I also try to, you know, this the the little achievements, man. I try to, i tried to you know, we get 40,000 views on YouTube or 50,000. I'm like, guys, check this out. This is awesome.
02:02:39
Speaker
Or, you know, our numbers continue to grow every month on Facebook or something. I'm like, hey, guys, check this out. This is awesome. So it's like, still have that feeling like, man, I'm really kind of being an asshole because I'm criticizing them, but I'm not doing it to out of spite. I'm doing it because I know they can be better. But I also, what they don't see is the behind the scenes, me over here rewatching or listening to stuff to clip stuff and going,
02:03:05
Speaker
wow, I fucking suck. People who respect you as much as you respect them, I don't think there will ah there will ever be like a moment where you say something and you feel like you're an an asshole.
02:03:17
Speaker
it's ah It's always a constant like conversation and it's always a constant... like But it does happen. yeah And it can happen without you knowing. I've heard stuff to Gavin that hurt his feelings and it wasn't until we talked about it and like me realizing my mistake that like we got through it. You gotta be an adult about it too. it's And it wasn't it wasn't a purposeful comment to bring Gavin down. It was just you know something I said i don't even fucking remember but like stuff like that like
02:03:52
Speaker
Sometimes you can come off as an asshole, but it takes people to ground you. and be like, hey man, like we that you you know you said this, but you know I don't agree with it.
02:04:03
Speaker
And then it takes someone to receive that and be like, know what, you're right. Let me adjust my actions and fix that. you know So it's like, it's always the constant game of you know making sure we're on the same page, but it takes the willingness of both parties to willing to be willing to work with each other. yeah like you I've been wrong. I've ive i like suggested something or said something that was may have been like untoward for someone, but like was it intentional on my end? No, but was it was it something that I could have said differently? Or it was it something I could have ah could have analyzed a little better before saying something absolutely I have?
02:04:50
Speaker
And Violet's a little bit about that too. there's violence a little bit about that too like um Well, no, it's ah bro Broke Her Heart on St. Mary's Street. It's ah it's a country song of ours. yeah Oh, you guys got a little country. For everyone.
02:05:06
Speaker
Yeah, nice. I Broke Her Heart on St. Mary's Street. But usually when it comes down to a heartbreak song in country, it's about, oh, she was awful and I'm matching her. No, it's actually about my actions and how I was wrong.
02:05:22
Speaker
Yeah. And because typically so people write songs about that, but I want to be honest. I want to let people know that I fucked up too. Yeah. Because, ah because i mean, we're all fuck ups here and there somehow. Yeah. If we're honest about it and we're, and we do everything that we can to change it. Like people to be more forgiving about that. And communicate, you know, communicate. Like sometimes we'll say something and then we just get really put off by it. And if we don't talk to each other,
02:05:52
Speaker
It's only we're only going get hurt and more and more. hey It's not until we talk about it and then we work to towards fixing it. You know, it's like communication is fucking key.
02:06:04
Speaker
And if you really feel like, hey, my homies need to be putting in this work, you know, show them by your action. Show them like, hey, this is what I do every day, you know. I would like, you know, if you're in this with me, like, I would like the same kind of support, you know? And, like, and if they're not willing to put that in, bro, then shit, you know? yeah Find someone else, man, who is. ca acado Yeah, well, that's the thing, I think that's the thing a lot of people don't realize. And like you said, like you said, Gavin, you know, ah lot, there are a lot of country songs out there, whether it be male or female, or any genre of song, breakup songs, you know, they, they,
02:06:43
Speaker
want to bash the other person. What a lot of people forget in relationships, whether it's a ah relationship, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, you know whatever that relationship status is, family, friends, significant other, it's a two-way street.
02:06:58
Speaker
It is a two-way street. It's not a one-way street. you know so to to be able to have that mean i mean It happened with ah my co-creator, the guy who co-created this whole thing with me from Jump Street when we were just doing the original show.
02:07:12
Speaker
oh I asked him a simple question. I might have worded it a little bit wrong, and he got and he was like, fuck this, I'm not even doing the show tonight. I'm like, kind of need you here tonight, bro. It doesn't work with one person.
02:07:26
Speaker
and I messaged I was like, get your dumb ass back up in here. I'm not trying to be a dick. i I'm asking a question. I don't know why you're being sensitive. Maybe you're on your period. It was a shot. It was a jab, but it made him laugh. and He came back up, and I was like,
02:07:43
Speaker
we taught and that we started the show and it was like, boom, show must go on. Let's rock this out. It is what it is. We're not even going to fucking dwell on it. A little miscommunication.
02:07:53
Speaker
Like me and Gavin have talked through anything we've been through and we're stronger and closer than ever because of it, you know? And it's like, in all of my relationships, it's like, it has to be that way. There has to be a two way street of communication and knowing that we're both on each other's side. We're not trying to tear each other down. It's important, man. you need You need that. If you can't be humble enough to know that you're wrong, you know, you're not going to get anywhere in life.
02:08:23
Speaker
You know, like you have to you have to know that, know when you're wrong. and know when to communicate, and know how to patch things up you know and' so it's tough It's tough for me because I'm never wrong.
02:08:36
Speaker
It's going to get you, bro. I'm telling you, bro. Always right. You're the first person in life in general, man. I'm like, yeah, yeah I fucked up.
02:08:54
Speaker
I'm the asshole here. It takes a big man to fucking admit defeat, you know, but that's ah that's a strength, not a weakness. Yeah, exactly. And I think that's the cool thing about you guys is and to go back to something you guys said earlier.
02:09:08
Speaker
Oh, excuse me. Oh, that was weak. Wow. the There's a lot of buildup for nothing. Um, I think that's the thing. Cause you know, I've had a few people ask me, they're like, who's coming on the show tonight?
02:09:21
Speaker
You know, and I tell them, Oh, who are they? And I tell them who you guys are. Kind give a little brief description. And I'm like, oh, never heard of them. like, well, we'll 90% of the artists that have been on here. nobody's I was like, and but but I'm like, but I'm, I'm, I'm really excited because sometimes it's hard to get a vibe off a person through text, yeah but watching your guys' videos and chatting, I don't know who I was chatting with. Obviously there's 47 of you in the band.
02:09:46
Speaker
So, ah yeah but for okay and from chatting with you through the DMS and stuff, these guys are fucking cool. These guys are going to be cool as shit.
02:09:58
Speaker
And it, We were backstage and you guys came right in. i was like, oh, yeah. This is exactly what I thought they were going to be. This is going to be, yeah, like this is going to be, and that speaks volumes for, you know, being real.
02:10:12
Speaker
And I appreciate that about, I love that about you guys. Whether you guys, whether anybody listens your music or whether, when people listen to the music, not whether they do, because they're going to, because I told them to. got down the girl And I'm going to, and I'm going to shove it down their throats. Yeah.
02:10:30
Speaker
ah We're going to shove it down their throats seven nights a week on the nonsense. You're going to be a fan of whether you like it or not. Whether you like it or not. But, um you know, the one thing people can take away from, and and even been watching this, is that you guys are real. you like You guys are exactly who you advertise yourselves to be, you know, at the end of the day. And and and and I love that because that's what I told the guys.
02:10:55
Speaker
here i'm like look we're we're not characters we're not we're not going to come up every once in a while well we we act out of pocket it is what it is we have a good time but we're not coming up here and putting pit vipers on and spanking our hair up and acting like we're some frat gym bro ah you know through an entire show it just might be just for a minute for a gimmick just to Just because that's the conversation we're having. Yeah, you do. I don't know if I want to spike this all the way. I'm with you guys, man. I'm with you guys. I just keep mine under wraps. Wait till you see us with our shirts off, bro.

02:27:35
Speaker
But I really do. I really truly do. If it sounds good and I can vibe to it and I, you know, and I dig it, I'm down for it. I don't give a damn who's singing it or what they're saying or hell, there's, there's some, uh, what is that? The, uh,
02:27:51
Speaker
there's, I can't remember the name of the van, but they're like a Norwegian Viking hardcore rock band. They're actually, slightly terrifying, but... Like a Monomar or something?
