Recap of Episode 2 Events

00:00:30
The Amazing Rewatch
ah Episode 2 is kind of like a refresher on who's even on this season, but... Yeah, and where we were. When we started the episode, I was like, where are we? Are we in France? We were somewhere are in England, right? Because they did Stonehenge.
00:00:42
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah, but it's interesting because we leave Europe. Yeah, like that was the only one. And they've done that sometimes, like where they go to Europe and then go somewhere in Africa and go back to Europe. Yeah, so so we'll see where we go. But yeah, um and we had the team, the first team to check in last episode won the first express pass of the Amazing Race series. They introduced...
00:01:08
The Amazing Rewatch
Yes. And that is Jill and Thomas. Yeah. And they are a dating couple or they married? They're dating, right? Okay.

00:01:22
The Amazing Rewatch
Once there, make your way to the Kwame Nukrumah Memorial Park to find your next clue. Then Nat and Kat, they are the surgeons that are friends. They- the anesthesiologists. Anesthesiologists that depart at noon. twelve become Connor and Jonathan, they're the friends who are the acapella singers at 1220.
00:01:44
The Amazing Rewatch

The Amazing Rewatch
and last episode, we did not like him. He wasn't very nice to her. At 1250. and then a big gap. Andy and Jenna, the long-lost mother-daughter team. And Nick and Vicky at 145 for...
00:02:22
The Amazing Rewatch
for They're the married. or do they I think they're also dating. Yeah. Do we have any married couples on this trip? I don't think so. Who was eliminated last episode? um It was Ron and Tony, the friends.
00:02:39
The Amazing Rewatch
The Broadway.
00:02:41
The Amazing Rewatch
They were in the boat. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. little turtle shell boat and they struggled. and So, yeah. I don't think we have any married couples. Huh. That's weird. but They have one of those.
00:02:53
The Amazing Rewatch
They're all on the same flight. Yes. So there's an equalizer here. And they have $137 for this leg. And they land in Ghana and they are running really fast through the airport to get to their taxis.

Arrival in Ghana: Culture Shock

00:03:06
The Amazing Rewatch
And um they're riding their techies taxis to get to this memorial to find the first clue. and people are just commenting on the state of the place they're in it's just such a new experience definitely culture shock type and people when they're stopped at an intersection people are reaching into the windows to try and ask for money and things like that and most people say no andy gives somebody it looks like there's a few coin really yeah not even a lot of money but just very different experience than what they're used to different place than england yeah
00:03:46
The Amazing Rewatch
um i so today, Cece, my daughter Cece, was, she was just like so emotional for some reason after you left today. And she was having some hot chocolate and it was not warm enough. And she's like, my hot chocolate is cold.
00:04:05
The Amazing Rewatch
I was like, okay, I have to finish this and then I can put it in the microwave. But it doesn't taste the same after it's been in the microwave. I'm like, okay. Okay. just give me a minute and she's like this is the third time you've ruined my life today gosh but and i was like what else did i do she's like you wouldn't let me wear the red dress to church today because it was it had a stain on it and like it needed to be washed and anyway i was just picking on her today and i was ruining in her life apparently yeah and i debated on whether i should use this example or not and i was like cc
00:04:40
The Amazing Rewatch
You know this episode of Amazing Race that I just watched?

Personal Story: Comparing Lifestyles

00:04:42
The Amazing Rewatch
These kids are in Ghana and they don't have any money and they barely have homes and they don't have any like hardly any clothes and food. And I think that you not having very warm hot chocolate and you think it's ruining your life is a little bit dramatic. Yeah.
00:04:58
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. It really does put things in perspective. What did she think after you said that? I don't know if she even said anything. She just kind of like looked at me and I was like, if you bring...
00:05:10
The Amazing Rewatch
your hot chocolate to me, I will stir it and I will put it in the microwave. And she like got off her chair and got down on the floor and like crawled. Oh, actually, no, I didn't say bring your hot chocolate. I was like, do you just need like a snuggle? Like, do you just want to come sit with me in this chair and we'll snuggle for a minute? She's like, yeah. And she like got on her stomach and like pulled herself by her arms.
00:05:30
The Amazing Rewatch
Like, wow. And she's not usually like that. She's like, not a super dramatic kid most of the time so I don't know where this was coming from but yeah it really is back to these people in Ghana just it is definitely yeah different different and eye-opening and I you wish that you could help them and help everybody and there's so many places in the world like this that they just it's It's hard. it the That would be like hard moments on the race. Oh, yeah.
00:06:03
The Amazing Rewatch
Going from like these cute quaint villages in England that, you know, like they have what they need and then to something like that is. m Yeah. And that's like one of the things that we like about race the races that they um show you just like all different cultures. Mm-hmm.
00:06:22
The Amazing Rewatch
Honestly, like it you could do a whole season in a single country, you know, or like a single area. There's so much to do and see. It's so fun to do the whole world thing.

Ghana's History and Significance

00:06:32
The Amazing Rewatch
And when they have done seasons with that are more localized and people don't like them as much. But, you know, you could do Ghana for a whole season and yeah really experience it and it would still be it wouldll be so entertaining and fascinating. Yeah.
00:06:48
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. I'll just tell you about Ghana at this point since we're talking about lot. Have like that type of thing where like people like reaching into their taxis to like ask for money so far on the race? don't think so. I mean, we've seen them like knocking on the window and stuff, but it must have been hot and like no air circulation or something because a lot of people had their windows down. Yeah. With people reaching in and trying like grab That would be kind of scary. Like just, yeah, you know, people coming into your space and.
00:07:17
The Amazing Rewatch
But roll up your window. ah Yeah. But maybe it's too hot. Maybe. Or i don't know. Yeah. Tell us about Ghana. Well, this is our first time to Ghana.
00:07:28
The Amazing Rewatch
This is our only our second country of the season. and We've been to 16 countries in Africa so far.
00:07:40
The Amazing Rewatch
This is our 16th African country. um So Ghana is officially the Republic of Ghana. It is in West Africa. It's situated in the Gulf of Guinea.
00:07:52
The Amazing Rewatch
Sorry. um It's on the Atlantic Ocean and it shares borders with Cote d'Ivoire and Birkin of Faso and Togo.
00:08:03
The Amazing Rewatch
um covers about 92,000 square miles. um It has diverse ecologies from coastal savannas to tropical rainforests. There's over 35 million inhabitants.
00:08:16
The Amazing Rewatch
It's the 13th most populous country in Africa and the second most populous country in West Africa. and The largest, the capital and largest. It's big. Huh? The second most populous and it's not very big, I don't think. In West Africa. Right, but but still.
00:08:39
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah.
00:08:41
The Amazing Rewatch
So Ghana was the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence from colonial rule. Ghana was um colonized by the British until it gained its independence on March 6, 1957, led by Ghana's first president, president Kwame Nkrumah, which is this oh where we're at this memorial that we're going to.
00:09:06
The Amazing Rewatch
Ghana's independence was a major milestone in the history of Africa, inspiring other African countries to fight for their independence from colonial powers. This event marked the birth of a new era in Africa characterized by a spirit of freedom, hope, and in dignity.

Economy and Democracy in Ghana

00:09:20
The Amazing Rewatch
The name Ghana means warrior king, and um it was adopted when the country gained independence in 1957.
00:09:30
The Amazing Rewatch
um
00:09:32
The Amazing Rewatch
It's known for its rich cultural traditions, including music, dance, and art.
00:09:47
The Amazing Rewatch
um
00:09:49
The Amazing Rewatch
So in this country, like we said, there's rainforests, grasslands, coastal wetlands, It has a lot of different variety of flora and fauna. And has wildlife, including elephants, antelopes, baboons, monkeys, crocodiles, and many bird species.
00:10:08
The Amazing Rewatch
There are several national parks and reserves. And 16% country's land are wildlife like wildlife reserves Ghana is the world's second largest cacao producer.
00:10:24
The Amazing Rewatch
The world's? Mm-hmm. Wow. And it is the main agricultural export. About 25% of the country's total export earnings.
00:10:35
The Amazing Rewatch
It's known for its high quality and distinct flavor.
00:10:39
The Amazing Rewatch
Um, the country has a growing oil industry and is also a major exporter of gold and other minerals. It is a stable democracy. Ghana is a stable democracy with a multi-party political system.
00:10:52
The Amazing Rewatch
And has a diverse population with more than a hundred ethnic groups and several religions, including Christianity and Islam.
00:11:00
The Amazing Rewatch
So obviously there were, um, um
00:11:05
The Amazing Rewatch
people here for many, many, long time, long, many, many centuries, thousands and thousands of years. But, um, beginning beginning in the 15th century, the Portuguese empire settled there or colonized there followed by other European powers and then, um, ran by the British and,
00:11:26
The Amazing Rewatch
mostly through the 19th century. And like we said, gated pen to 1957. And the city of Accra specifically is um,
00:11:40
The Amazing Rewatch
has a population of about 5.46 million. um
00:11:45
The Amazing Rewatch
Is the language English? Is that the official language? Or French? or The official language of Ghana is English, yeah.
00:11:56
The Amazing Rewatch
That's at least something. Like, for these racers, in something that's like a culture shock, but at least they speak English. Yeah. And so ah Christianity is like 72% of the population.
00:12:09
The Amazing Rewatch
yeah I think there's ah an LDS temple there and there's a lot of missionaries that go yeah to Ghana.
00:12:16
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. so um I remember Ghana specifically. I remember I had I took some classes at the University of Utah.
00:12:25
The Amazing Rewatch
I was going to go into public health like get a degree in public health taking some public health classes and I had a professor who worked for ah local government and like um federal government a couple different levels of government here in the united states and he would ah he would go to ghana a lot so during the ebola outbreak i don't think ebola was actually in ghana but like close to there let me see
00:13:28
The Amazing Rewatch
Tested and inspected and like all this stuff. They were very, very careful about it. So extreme about it. But because he does public health and he is he ah what he would do at like the different government levels was um ah like diseases.
00:13:47
The Amazing Rewatch
ha Like he would study diseases. So he gathered a lot of blood samples from Ghana to study like Ebola and stuff like that. And brought them back to the United States. And he said that, like, going to Ghana with nothing, he was, like, searched and all this stuff. And he left Ghana with blood to come to the United States. And, like, there wasn't a single person that asked him anything ever. and he like Really? even like cared that he brought blood fraud from West Africa back to his steps.
00:14:22
The Amazing Rewatch
I just remember that story. You can't take fruit, though. No. But blood, yeah. Sure. um Yeah, lots of interesting history and lots of stuff to do and see in ah in Ghana. um It seems like it's kind of like becoming a lot more it's pretty stable compared to a lot of African countries. um Definitely still a different culture and lifestyle than we're used to here, but it looks fascinating and yeah.
00:14:59
The Amazing Rewatch
It'd be interesting to visit there. Yes. A lot of so people where they are in in the city on this lake I wonder what it looks like like out in the countryside. It's probably beautiful with ah all the animals and stuff. I didn't know that the elephants were that far west in Africa. I thought they were mostly in like East Africa.
00:15:22
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. So, yeah, that'd be interesting.

Market Challenge: Selling Sunglasses

00:15:25
The Amazing Rewatch
So, they start arriving to this um monument and the clue, ah Nick and Vicky are actually the first ones to arrive, which after last episode is surprising. Yeah.
00:15:40
The Amazing Rewatch
But the clue says, make your way to the McCullough Market to find your next clue. And all the teams get there. Andy and Jenna, the mother-daughter team, are the last ones to arrive to this clue.
00:15:52
The Amazing Rewatch
The team start getting to the market and the clue there is the roadblock. And it says, who thinks they can handle some shady dealings? um So the team member doing the roadblock has to sell as many sunglasses as it takes to earn 15 cities.
00:16:08
The Amazing Rewatch
C-E-D-I-S, which is the... good gun Wow. Gananian? No. Ganian. Gan... Ghanaian? Ghanaian. I don't know. That's so hard to say. g gainy Ghanaian.
00:16:22
The Amazing Rewatch
I think it's just Ghanaian. Okay. The Ghanaian currency. Wow, that was rough. um Which is the equivalent of about 10 US dollars. And they can't sell any pair for less than three cities.
00:16:34
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. It's spelled C-E-D-I. Yeah. Did you say that already? Yeah. Oh. So Nick is going to do this roadblock and they all kind of start arriving at the same time except for a couple of teams. So we have Nick, Brooke, Jill, Chad, Michael, Kat, Rachel, Connor, Jenna.
00:16:54
The Amazing Rewatch
Wait, so they can't sell a pair of sunglasses for less than $3. Yeah, so they can't sell 15 sunglasses for one each. They have to sell them for at least three.
00:17:05
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah, do you know how much three cities CDs is in United States dollars? What did it say on here? it said They said about 15 would be about 10 US dollars. 15 CDs would be 10 US dollars.
00:17:19
The Amazing Rewatch
So it's like one CD, CD. seti cd would be like 75 cents. Yeah, it's less now. isn it So if they were selling up at one pair of sunglasses for three CDs, that's 26 cents for a pair of
00:17:39
The Amazing Rewatch
someone Yeah. anytime Anytime there's a task that you have to sell stuff, i do and it's a roadblock, so they have to. It's not a detour that you have another option, but yeah.
00:17:50
The Amazing Rewatch
Just like asking people for money and In a country where where they don't have a lot of money. Yeah. Yeah. I know. i hate it when they make these tasks in those countries. Yeah.
00:18:00
The Amazing Rewatch
I mean, it is a market. they don't. but Now I'm thinking about it. Like I look back and they don't do that anywhere else. Like they'll do detours where it's like you have to.
00:18:12
The Amazing Rewatch
Sometimes they'll do detours where you have to like sell, so try to sell something. But they never do those like in Paris or. yeah Like. Europe. Yeah. They never do try to sell something. It's always like. it's like in southeat Asia. Southeast Asia. Africa. Yeah. froms Or Africa and stuff. It's like.
00:18:30
The Amazing Rewatch
now that i think about that i don't like that yeah but it makes sense because it's so hectic and oh you don't even speak the language and you know a lot going on because you could yeah i get it but yeah i liked um so michael is the dad of the dad and son team and he was doing the roadblock and he's like looked at somebody he's like please help me i know kevin his son was nervous for him to do yeah it's it was kind of a theme of this episode and last episode where like Michael, the dad who like he's, i mean, i wouldn't say he's old. He's probably in his 50s.
00:19:10
The Amazing Rewatch
And he just like feels like he's dragging Kevin down because Kevin is like a young athletic guy. And she, you know. Yeah. um So he's always just like, oh, I hope I'm not slowing you down. I'm sorry if I'm slowing you down. um He's always pleasantly surprising. Yeah. Or like doing well so far.
00:19:31
The Amazing Rewatch
But yeah, he did a pretty good job. um So who did we say did it? Did you already say? Yeah. I said all the ones except for, so Gary and Mallory are on their way, but their taxi dies and they have to go get another taxi.
00:19:47
The Amazing Rewatch
So that slows them down a little bit. And i just want to say that Mallory, I have a roommate um or had a roommate at SUU that looks and acts like Mallory. Yeah.
00:19:58
The Amazing Rewatch
And she was so fun and just like, super i don't know why i hate the word bubbly i think it's just like overused but it is appropriate for her personality type and she looks a lot like her too really yeah yeah and mallory is very very kind um brooke does a great job selling she's a tv salesman so yeah she well She offers to give people kisses on the cheek if they'll buy from her. Oh, People like that.
00:20:31
The Amazing Rewatch
um But some other people really struggle selling. Kat can't sell anything. Yeah, and she didn't seem like she was trying that hard. i know. And Nick doesn't really sell very well either.
00:20:45
The Amazing Rewatch
um When Gary and Mallory arrive, Mallory does it, like you said, and she... people really like her and her personality. Brooke obviously finishes first and their clue says, and that clue says, make your way to the, wait, what I didn't get this clue actually. Make your way to the June 4th area to the motor spare parts store.
00:21:05
The Amazing Rewatch
And Connor, he gets somebody to pay 10 10 for one pair of sunglasses and six for another. So he does yeah two transactions. yeah And him and Michael finish and,
00:21:18
The Amazing Rewatch
um Chad finishes closely after. He was like he to he was to his last sale and the girl gave him two instead of three CDs. And he kept asking her to give him another one and another. And it seemed like it took him a long time to give convince her give him another. In reality, like because it was like cut up. Yeah. The editing. It probably was like a one minute.
00:21:40
The Amazing Rewatch
interaction but it seemed like you talked to her for like 10 minutes like yeah try to get that extra dollar yeah um and he finishes so brooke and claire arrive to this auto parts store first and the clue there is a detour and the choices are tune in or check out So for tune in, they have to go to an electrical supply store and pick up a TV antenna system.

Detour: TV Antenna vs. Themed Coffins

00:22:05
The Amazing Rewatch
They have to find a marked house and install the antenna to the specifications of the owner.
00:22:11
The Amazing Rewatch
When they get a proper signal, they will get the clue from the owner of the house. And then check out is make their way to a woodworking shop where um very interesting things coffins are created at this place and they represent the lifestyle of their eventual occupants. thought that was a funny way to say that. so they choose the occupants yeah They choose a coffin and transport it through the back streets of town to a showroom. so There's like there's like a piano and some fish and a lobster and like just like random things. I think that i we would choose that one.
00:22:51
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah, because... yes Working with like an electrical system and I know I don't that doesn't sound easy and it's like okay we have to just like pick this up and take it somewhere else and it does seem to be the easier of the two but not very many people choose checkout. So Brooke and Claire do choose tune in and they find a house. They don't seem to be very far away these houses that are wanting the antennas um so they start installing it and Michael and Kevin arrive and they like can't find the clue box. They like walk right by it. And then Chad and Stephanie arrive and they choose tune in and they tell Kevin and Michael where the clue box is. They're like, where's the clue? and they're like, oh, it's across the street over there.
00:23:50
The Amazing Rewatch
roadblock.
00:23:54
The Amazing Rewatch
Jenna finishes up the roadblock. Mallory does as well. She sold one pair of sunglasses. Yeah. For $15. Which, yeah, she was so surprised. It was cute.
00:24:05
The Amazing Rewatch
Kat still struggling. Jill finishes. She really struggled. She kind of just like, she would like walk by other people who were selling. And ask the people who already bought from them, be like, do you want to buy another one? Yeah. they're like These are like, you have to kind of go find your own area. Yeah.
00:24:23
The Amazing Rewatch
And she, there was one pair of sunglasses that she sold and she's like, oh, this one has a scratch on it. Let's find you another one. And there's like a little interview. And she was like, I just felt really bad selling them a pair of sunglasses that were damaged. And Thomas was like, why would you care about their feelings? Yeah.
00:24:40
The Amazing Rewatch
was like, what? You're not going to be caring about them people's feelings on this race, right? right it wass like um but you We just want to win. Yeah. So yeah, I didn't like that. Kat is ends up being the last one to finish the roadblock. Yeah.
00:24:57
The Amazing Rewatch
It's like everyone only wants to buy them for $1 or one CD. And she's like, no, I can't. I'm sorry. No, no, sorry. I can't. It takes a long time to tell them. ah no sorry and like hanging around for a second yeah no sorry bye gotta go try the next one by the time she finishes the roadblock brooke and claire finish the detour and it says make your way to the canishi market navigate through the people and the vendors to find this bridge for the pit stop of this leg of the race so last team to check in may be eliminated
00:25:31
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. This is one of the largest markets in West Africa. So we know what's going to be chaos. It looks pretty chaotic. um Yeah. This was another thing like the ah tuning the antenna to get a quote unquote clear signal. And like, even still, it was like such terrible quality compared to what we're used to. And I'm like, and they're just like, so like, that's what they have. And they're so grateful for it. Yeah.
00:25:59
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. I know. I actually was having a conversation with my friend about this recently. And me as like in, I'm like and the advocate, you know, I'm, that's kind of my personality is when you take those personality tests or whatever. Are you the, I don't even know what the other ones are, but I'm the advocate or whatever.
00:26:22
The Amazing Rewatch
And I think to myself, like, oh, I just wish that they could you have better lives. I want to do so much for them. But them in their lives, like, who am I to say that they are unhappy? Yeah.
00:26:35
The Amazing Rewatch
Like, I know that there's, you know, the quality of life and stuff like that and access to healthcare and our education and things like that. But, and, you know, the there's a whole...
00:26:47
The Amazing Rewatch
So much that goes into it. But, you know, I also, you could you can also think of it too, you know, they could actually be way happier than me. Yeah. And I just feel so much pity for them. And I don't want to feel pity for people. Right. That's not what I want is pity.
00:27:04
The Amazing Rewatch
I just want the best for everyone. Yes. just wish everybody could be, have a happy life and everybody could just have everything they ever wanted. but yeah I don't have everything ever wanted. They got a wish list.
00:27:17
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. but Taylor Swift reference. um Well, somebody is like Nick is selling a pair of sunglasses and this lady tries them on And she like starts doing a dance and just like just like walking away. And he's like, ah you got to pay for those. She's like, no, they're for free. yeah I think she felt like paying for dancing and stuff. He would give them to her for free. He kind of stands there. I know. He's like, oh, I think I just got jacked for a pair of sunglasses. And then she eventually pays him. Yeah. but
00:27:46
The Amazing Rewatch
yeah But Kat was the last one to finish the roadblock. So the other teams are like, there's kind of the two. Two groups. Groups of teams. Yeah.
00:27:57
The Amazing Rewatch
The first group are all starting to finish up their detours. yeah So Katie and Rachel who did check out, they did the coffins. But they were like fourth or fifth to arrive there, but they finished second. Yeah. was say they made up quite a bit of time doing that task.
00:28:14
The Amazing Rewatch
um So yeah.

Winners of the Leg

00:28:16
The Amazing Rewatch
Brooke and Claire finished and they got team number one and they won a 10 day trip to Hawaii. Yeah. which is crazy. Katie and Rachel were number two so um Also, teams who were finishing the roadblock later and left at around the same time all kind of got lost together. it seems like the taxis were following each other. so And there was like a big traffic jam for like a bunch of the teams too.
00:28:44
The Amazing Rewatch
So like Gary and Mallory, um who else? Gary and Mallory. Nat and Kat. And Andy and Jenna. Andy and Jenna, they had their taxis like following each other. They're going really far and they went the wrong place. And so they had to all turn around and come back. So they're like the end end now. So um Jonathan and Connor, they chose tune in at first and then they switched detours.
00:29:14
The Amazing Rewatch
Which we were surprised, but i they did the second one really quickly, so it didn't really matter that much. But it ends up being, so team number three were Michael and Kevin, so they did pretty well on this leg. Chad and Stephanie are team number four.

The Amazing Rewatch
We really didn't hear a lot from them this leg, which was nice. It was very little screen time for them, but they because they got a lot last time. Yeah. they Got so lost at the end. And he was not nicer. Yeah. um And team number five were Jill and Thomas. he They seemed pretty disappointed. They went from first to five. But, you know, they had that equalizer and Jill took a long time to sell stuff. They did talk about, kind of, briefly talk about using the express pass on this task.
00:30:03
The Amazing Rewatch
That would have been... dumb yeah to like to use it so early yeah would not be ideal but and uh fifth place is still not terrible yeah and so this is where the traffic jam is like there's like those few things that are they're finishing their detour getting from the detour to the pit stop there's a big traffic jam yeah and some of the taxis just like
00:30:32
The Amazing Rewatch
well, Nat and Kat specifically go through two rows of cars and they just like, it just like drives in between. And then they just make another lane of the road. Yeah. Jonathan and Connor's um starts doing that too. Cause I think Nat and Kat passed a couple of teams that were just sitting in traffic and they're the, those teams in the taxis were like, Oh, we got to like, can you do that too?
00:30:58
The Amazing Rewatch
And my gosh, like, They were just like cringing and like closing their eyes. And one of them, Jonathan or Connor, they're like, these taxi drivers are nuts. We're not complaining as long as we're not dying. Yeah. but And it be so Nat or Kat was like, i I'm having a religious experience. yeah Like they're all really scared and it looked really scary, especially are just like the way they edited it. They did a good job kind of like getting us in into the moment. It was freaky.
00:31:28
The Amazing Rewatch
But those two teams got dropped off kind of like right at the same time. Yeah. Yeah. But it ended up Jonathan Connor got there first and they're team number six. So Nat and Kat doing the...
00:31:41
The Amazing Rewatch
They did the the checkout. Yeah, I think so. And then their taxi driver making up that time really helped them. So Jonathan and Connor checked in as team number six, Nat and Kat number seven, and Nick and Vicky number eight.
00:31:57
The Amazing Rewatch
So the last couple teams are between Gary Mallory and Andy and Jenna. Gary and Mallory are team number nine. So that means Andy and Jenna are team number 10. And they were eliminated. Yeah.
00:32:08
The Amazing Rewatch
Mallory was hilarious on the mat. Like, she was like so anxious. anxious And she's like, Do you have good news or is it bad news? Just tell me. Either way, just tell me because I'm going to have a heart attack on this mat. Has that ever happened before? All this was coming out all in one breath. Bill's like, I'll tell you if you stop talking.
00:32:27
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah, so they were team number nine. Yeah. And so Andy and Jenna, they are sad, but it seemed like they're, like, grateful for this experience, too. Because if you remember, this is only the third time that they've ever met in person.
00:32:40
The Amazing Rewatch
And I just kept thinking, like, i I don't think they were going to make it to the end. No. They were not, like, aggressive enough, especially the mom. She's just, like, very just, like, soft-spoken Yeah.
00:32:53
The Amazing Rewatch
Yeah. just doesn't seem to have like much pep in her step yeah and so i'm like well now they can just like go to sequesterville and have three weeks to just like be with each other and get to know each other and yeah like a positive spin on their elimination true um well andy and jenna are the first team to be eliminated in ghana and their race average was 9.5.

Elimination: Andy and Jenna

00:33:20
The Amazing Rewatch
So they took ninth in the first leg and 10th in the second leg.
00:33:23
The Amazing Rewatch
um
00:33:25
The Amazing Rewatch
There's, that was like their only like trivia post race. Andy became a realtor. So Andy is the mom. um She also taught Pilates. Pilates.
00:33:38
The Amazing Rewatch
Until her studio closed. Because of COVID-19. Jenna got married in May of 2017. And had a daughter. In March of 2019.
00:33:51
The Amazing Rewatch
Jenna does have an Instagram. But it's private. And it doesn't seem like there's any social media. ah For Andy. So I don't know. However. I did look up.
00:34:02
The Amazing Rewatch
Some. news articles of like this team, ah you know, like local newspapers and stuff when they were on the race. Andy and like her husband after she placed Jenna for adoption, they had 10 kids.
00:34:21
The Amazing Rewatch
I don't know how i would feel as Jenna to be like, wow, you didn't keep me, but then you went on to have 10 kids. Like that would, I don't know. I am not her and I... Wait, so it was with the same person? I don't know.
00:34:38
The Amazing Rewatch
I don't know if Andy was married when she had Jenna. Because, and then, like, when they were explaining it at the beginning of the first episode, she was, like, she wasn't, like, a teen. No, she was, like, 21 or 22. Yeah. interesting. Yeah.
00:34:51
The Amazing Rewatch
that's interesting But then, so she's 43 at the time of this race and had 10 kids. So I don't like, I don't think it was that much later that she started having kids that she kept.
00:35:07
The Amazing Rewatch
So yeah, I don't know. i I would kind of feel weird about that if I was, yeah but ah again, i that i am not her yeah and i am not in this situation. So I don't know how I would feel, but just. from an outside perspective that's kind of what it seems like interesting so anyway um yeah they seemed nice and i hope that they were able to like continue their relationship and get to know each other better and but i don't have any way of because they're not on facebook yeah
00:35:40
The Amazing Rewatch
Well, this was a pretty good

Episode Reflection and Team Analysis

00:35:42
The Amazing Rewatch
episode. Nothing, like, super exciting happened, and there's still too many people to, like, get really, like, deep into any specific team yet.
00:35:52
The Amazing Rewatch
Mm-hmm. It's a good second episode. It was interesting going to Ghana. I think we could stay in Ghana again because we didn't do too much here, but...
00:36:05
The Amazing Rewatch
Also, we don't usually, we don't stay places a lot. I just want to see more of places, I guess. I say that most times. I think we stay here. I think we stay here. We usually don't. um Would you like me to tell you? I won't tell you where we go.
00:36:19
