So i think they probably went back to like a hotel or something because at like four-ish in the morning, the teams drop off their cars and get to the airport. Yeah. I was like, did it really take them six hours to drive to the airport? There's no way. So that yeah, they must have. Yeah.

and And yeah, definitely not. But so I think they probably had like more rest or something like that. Yeah. Well, Kenton Vixen started out real strong. Yeah. So they couldn't even find their car when they left the mat.

And Japan's not that big. It's island. they're in, like, a busy area. not kind Not a crazy area. Yeah. But, you know, obviously different language and they're just using maps and compasses and things like that. But um the teams get arrived. They arrive to the airport and drop off their cars and start checking in for their flight and stuff. And Kent and Vixen, they don't know where they are.

Kent is driving and Vixen is navigating. And she's really frustrated and she says she doesn't know where they're going or what to do. And um eventually, as teams are like boarding the full plane, she's like, we've been going the wrong way this entire time. Yeah.

She said she has no idea how they did that. And she said they probably went three hours out of the yeah the wrong direction. I can't imagine driving three hours and not knowing where I was. Yeah, and not stopping to make sure you're going the right way. Because they weren't that far out of this. Like when they were going from Tokyo to where are they at? Yeah.

They were in Kamakura. Kamakura. I don't know what word I just said, but um that doesn't seem like it's that far out of Tokyo. Like it probably should have taken them maybe an hour to get to the airport at all. Yeah.

don't even know where they went. Yeah. Where were they? I don't know. it Yeah. Crazy. They are very lost and it's just wild. It's hard to say like what we would do in situations and we wouldn't be like perfect or anything like that. But I don't I would not drive for three hours not knowing where I was going or what I was doing. no and it wouldn't be hard to ask somebody even if they don't speak english nori what is it narita airport yeah airport yeah and so she's so upset and the first that flight leaves and without them without them and it's interesting because when phil is talking at the beginning or they read the clue at the beginning it says Teams must take the provided mandatory flight from Tokyo to Kuming.

Did they say the word mandatory for a reason? Yeah. Yeah. Because sometimes they say like, we have provided tickets on this flight, but they are able to book a different flight if they want to. But this one was like this, you have to be on this one. Yeah.

But it also made it sound like there were not going to be other flight options either. So when they did get to the airport and there's another flight leaving at 3.30, I was like, oh, that's not terrible. i thought it was going to be like days before they were able to get on another flight.

And they all start looking for other flights. They, like, go to different desks or... Ron and Christina have a leg up because they speak Chinese and they said that they've actually been to this place. Yeah.

um And then we have Kara carra and Jamie who Jamie was like, when we were in China, it was like the worst day of my life. So it'll be interesting.

And then Keisha and jen that was where they had their bathroom break and the the incident with Luke. Yeah.

And they said they were in China for like four legs. Three or four, yeah. Which, yeah, that's a lot. So people have some bad vibes left over from their time in China from the first time. Yes. But not Ron Christina, who ask a person to help them and they find out that the train is going to be the fastest and there's one that's like leaving pretty quickly. Mm-hmm. At 8.50.

Or then there's another one at 10.16. Yeah. So Ron and Christina make it on that 8.51. And all the other teams, by the time they've figured out about the trains, they run down there to, like, the train station. And they miss that first one by, like, 10 minutes.

But they all get on that 10.16 train. And it doesn't really matter because Ron and k Christina, their train arrives in Lijiang at 5.38

So when those counters start opening, they go and book a flight from Kunming to... young So then they're the only one that took a flight. I wonder how much faster it was. Yeah.

But yeah, she Vixen leaves her passport on the ticket counter. Yeah. So they're away from the counter looking and Vixen's like, do you have your passport? And she's like, I can't find it. I can't find it and they go back to the ticket counter sitting right there. And he's like, Vixen, I am going to shoot you. has been so patient. Really? He has.

so patient really he has and They said when they were doing the all the driving and navigating, it was a flashback to when they were eliminated in Italy in their first season because they got really, really lost. Lost with navigating in Italy.

lucky. And it's another thing, like we said, this is like the quintessential Amazing Race episode because it's like you don't ever stop. Yeah. Because you never know what's going to happen.

And you... Yeah, don't give up. Don't ever give up. And teams, they arrive at the Jade Dragon Mountain. which is really high elevation at the point where they're at now is like 10,000 feet. And they see yaks in the distance and they're like, I think we're going to be riding yaks. Yes. and they do.

That clue says yak, yak. yak Properly saddle one yak and ride across a precarious section of the river to receive your next clue.

And it's not a roadblock, but only one teammate does it. And of course the cowboys get theirs saddled pretty quickly. And Court rides it around. So it's kind of this water area kind of is like these pools going down this big wide river.

And the yaks kind of climb climb up. And down all these different levels of water. They get all the way across. Get a clue and come back. and that clue says ride the gondola up of the mountain and find spruce meadow.

Those yaks were really cute. They are really cute. They're just so fuzzy. Yeah. Yeah. It probably is cold in this area, like being that high elevation, but it is like low, lower latitude, latitude right?

So what I wonder what the weather is like there. Lower latitude? Altitude? No, latitude. Like it's not that far from the equator. Oh. But it is high altitude.

It's right there in Mount Everest. That's, like, the exact same latitude as, like, Yeah. The Himalayas. Which, yeah, is not a high latitude, but it is high al high altitude.

um So the team's all, they don't really struggle with that at all. They all do it. They get on the gondolas right up to the top. And when they get up to the top of the gondolas, that elevation is over 14,000 feet. Yeah.

And they're really really high feeling it. And I wondered, i was like, I wonder if like even people like we grew up in the mountains and like our hometown sits at like over 6,000 feet.

Not quite. It's only like it's less than six. Because like well, like the divide is 63, whatever. so it's like right about 6,000 feet. And I mean, that's like not even close to 14,000.

But I wonder. like three times the. Yeah. I wonder how much it would affect people. Like if somebody from Florida came to 14,000 feet and then somebody from Utah. They'd probably get altitude sickness if they.

From Florida? From Florida. Well, because Margie said that they're from Colorado. And so she lives in the mountains and she said that she was feeling it. The highest peak in Utah is Kings Peak, which is 13,500 feet. So this is higher than the highest elevation in u Utah. And it's still not the highest elevation in China. Did you know Mount Everest is technically in China?

it's It splits Nepal and China. um No, I don't think I knew that. The international boundary runs directly across the summit. The North Slope is in China and the South Slope is in Nepal.

Yeah. yeah it I don't really even like hiking that much at all, so ah climbing a mountain like this would not be my first choice of exercise or um I would rather think of something else to prove that I am cool than climbing mountain oh yeah yeah I wouldn't want to climb a mountain and I wouldn't want to dive in the sea I'd rather climb a mountain than go deep in the water yeah for i think that's the last thing I would do is go deep in the water yeah

Chinese Zodiac Challenge at High Elevation

the teams get to the top of the mountain here and they get off the gondola and the clue is a roadblock and it says, who thinks they're living charmed wait who you think they're living a charmed life so so Oh, sorry. According according to legend, Buddha challenged the 12 animals on the Zodiac chart to a race, and their position on the chart reflects the order in which they got to the finish line.

The teams must search among thousands of hanging charms for the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac and put them in the correct order. on Like, hang them on this little... basket basically like a weaved hanging basket so these little charms have like a hook and it looks like they're made out of wood and they have just like either Chinese characters or pictures of the zodiac and there are like thousands of them and they're all over So it's kind of like a boardwalk type of thing. Trails on these wooden boardwalks throughout the area and the others, look like you said, tens of thousands of them hanging around.

Yes, but also not get frustrated. yeah Kent and Vixen, they finish the yak task and get on the gondola to go back up. So as teams are going down, they see them coming up and they're like oh my gosh, like really surprised to see them. yeah Zev finally finds that last charm and he goes and he hangs them all up in just one big clump on the thing.

So they it looks like they have taken down everybody else's examples so because they were all blank and his was so he put them up on his thing and it was just one big clump and the guy says no and um kent mixing get up to the top and vixen does the roadblock which at this point of the day they should have had kent do it yeah she's really i would not if i was kent i'd be like you are clearly not with it so gonna do this one

And so she gets started. So it's just Zev and Vixen doing the roadblock last and they're really happy to see that they're still in it. Um, um As the teams are getting on the marked bus to go back down the mountain, ron and Christine get on just kind of like a little cart. Like tram. Yeah, a tram. But it also had a flag on it. It had like a race flag, it looked like.

Or like, we have to take a bus. we have to take a bus. And Ron's like, I don't think it has to be a bus. And he's like yelling. And he's like, we'd have to go all the way back up the mountain. And it would take 45 minutes. But they see the other buses driving the same direction as them. And so Christina is like trying to tell the tram driver to so to stop.

And she like jumps off the tram while it's still moving. and falls down. But Flight Time and Big Easy they see them and they tell the bus driver to stop. would Yeah, really nice. Yeah.

And so, yeah, they're like running after the bus kind of, yeah, Flight Time and Big Easy tell the bus to stop, which there was, I think there was something like on their last season that was kind of a situation like that, but they did it.

I can't even remember what it was, but they like didn't tell the bus to stop or whatever. They were like very much like, They were definitely more like we're not going to help anybody last time. Yeah. And like um remember Micah at the top of the slide and they were like yeah goading her and like encouraging her not to go down the slide. and Yeah. Which some people didn't like but us we were like. They were going to be last place. Yeah.
