Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the Amazing Rewatch. We are Jessica and Sadie, and we are talking about Season 18, Episode 8. We had our teams in India last episode. We talked about them being in Varanasi.

They decide to kind of risk it, but also play it safe. Well, I mean, it really wasn't playing it safe. because Well, so their reasoning was we have seen flights in this country get delayed by 30, 35 minutes, like every time Yep.

we've flown But so this one, they wanted to do it because it only had one layover. And they were like, you know, thinking, well, if the other flight has two layovers. It's a higher chance higher chance of being delayed. But they were the only ones. I would never yes take a later flight.

If you're the only ones. And be the only one. Yeah. But if they were the only ones to make it and there was a delay and then they would be um only ones in the front. but I don't know. it was only a half hour, i don't know if I would risk that.

It's not that far. Like they're both like north of Salt Lake, but it was snowing so hard. And i was like trying to read printed out directions on a paper. And the snow, it was also snowing like sideways. And so all of the street signs were covered, like all of the exits on the freeway or covered.

I had no idea where I was. Had no phone. probably shouldn't have been driving. I know. I probably shouldn't have i actually was like right behind snowplow though. So that helped because I kind of just like followed the snowplow slowly. And so the road was cleared as I was following it. So I felt safe enough driving, but I ended up at the airport.

Oh, wow. And I was like, I don't think this is where I'm supposed to be. No. I found it somehow. But anyway, that's my my memory of MapQuest. Like trying to like read a paper, find a sign in the snow. Yeah. Signs were covered.

Well, Zev and Justin get to the Schloss first and they like have to go inside the little courtyard and walk up these steps and there's a girl dressed in like Renaissance clothing and she hands them a big thick book and there's like a thing stamped in the front page.

The Cowboys are last to get there, but don't seem to be too far behind everyone. Zeb and Justin get to the library first, and Keisha and Jen are right behind them. And the clue there at the library, they have to like hand the library in the big book that they took with them. That clue is a detour, and the choices are long, hard walk, or quick and easy meal.

I don't know why they changed them, but they did. Interesting. Yeah. So long, hard walk. ah They have to go to the museum that was the former home and office of Sigmund Freud, then transport an analyst's couch one mile to the University of Vienna, where Freud once studied and later lectured.

And then quick, easy meal is go to the Weiner Reisenrad, which is a giant Ferris wheel made famous in Orson Welles' film The Third Man.

They'll pick up two local meals and enter one of the dining cars. Accompanied by traditional V&E's music, they must eat all of the food during one 12-minute rotation of the Ferris wheel. Yeah, so I would think we would choose the walk because the mile is not that far, and whenever there's an eating challenge, it's hard. Yes. It looks good, but – food doesn't look bad. It's like a little salad and some chocolate cake and some – is that wiener schnitzel? Mm-hmm. Which is what? Schnitzel. Wiener – it's not wiener schnitzel. It's just schnitzel.

Wienerschnitzel is a specific, legally protected, and traditional Austrian dish made exclusively from pounded, breaded, and fried veal. A schnitzel is a broader generic term for any thin, breaded, and fried cutlet.

Both teams start eating and immediately figure out that it's pretty hard. But they try and they do a lot. They, like, eat a lot. They, like, get up to the top and Jen's like, what happens if we don't finish?

She's like, we're not talking about not finishing. But, yeah, they neither team finishes. So when they finish when they get down from the Ferris wheel, they have to go to the other detour. They're not going to try again. That would be, like, impossible the second time. That torture.

Because Mallory, I think, wanted to go to the other one. But Gary was like, I'll eat my food and half of yours. Yeah. She's like, well, i don't want you to be mad at me all day. And then they finish or they don't finish. They're going to the other detour. She's like, I can throw up and try again, dad. And he's like, no, let's just go. Yeah. And he wasn't like mad at her. No. And he even said like, that was my fault. I should have listened to you. Yeah.

But then Flytime and Big easy go over and they get their couch first. And they have a little dolly that they can push, which does kind of seem to help, but also it doesn't. Because there's like salt on the sidewalks to melt the snow. And it makes it so that the dolly does not roll very well. yeah And as I expected...

Kent is doing as well as I thought he would. And like the whole time he was like, stop, stop. I'm going to drop it. Stop. Stop, stop, stop. And she's like, all have to say is stop. Yeah. Detour. And as they're. leaving the library to go to the tour, they see Zev and Justin carrying a couch and they're like, that's the first team we've seen all day. Like it put a pip in our step and we know the Cowboys can get through.

Yes. And they also opened the detour clue before Gary and Mallory switched detours. Yeah. So they are a little bit ahead and we knew that they would probably do well at this one. So there's a point in the couch detour where they have to walk up a pretty steep hill. Yeah. And Big Easy just picks up the couch and carries it all by himself. Yeah. He just like slings it over his shoulder. Yeah.

And we know that they struggle with this. And he decides to just get off this exit that says Salzburg and she told she didn't tell him to. And so they're fighting about that. And. Yeah.

um Yes, we've been to Austria before three times. This is our fourth time to Austria. And i was going to talk about Vienna because we were there most most of the time, I guess. kind of We did a detour in Vienna and a roadblock in Salzburg, but whatever. um So Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria.

I would love to go on the Danube Because I was going to say that there's like – because Salzburg is not on the Danube River, but they have like one of the excursions on one of the days is a day trip to Salzburg because okay it is popular. And I will go to Salzburg someday, so – Yeah. And I think a train ride is faster than car ride. It's 186 miles west of Vienna. Um... It sits in a scenic valley with dramatic mountains rising around it, which is part of why it's considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

So Vienna, no, Salzburg, I guess now we're in, is known for, or Austria, is known for its chimney sweep culture. And chimney sweeps are a symbol of good luck. So the team member will dress in a chimney sweep uniform and climb to the roof where they'll use a specialized weighted tool to clean out a chimney. Once finished, they go to the little clean-out door, open it, and get the clue.
