A crazy roadblock involving tea really changes the game for a couple of teams!

What teams don't know is that the papaya and mango tea they'll be drinking will appear in a challenge later in this later of the race. Once they finish their tasting, they'll receive a brick of tea and their clue.
Tea Task in China

Flight time in Big Easy at 3.59, Ron and Christina at 4.09, and Zev and Justin at 4.10. Yep. we've got a couple hours between team one and the last team to arrive, but um some of the teams arrive at the tea place before the last set of teams, but all of them comment. They're like, we're staying in China. More China? More China? We're not leaving China because they have had two legs there so far. Mm-hmm. So I think they were all expecting to leave.

But what happens is they go to this um tea thing. Gary and Mallory are the first ones there. and they drink the tea and they get their clue. And it says fly to Kolkata, India.

And then make your way to the town hall to get the next clue. So they are leaving. Just not right at the first. Yep. A little surprise. Yeah.

Yeah, and they all end up being on the same flight. There's no airport drama. We don't even see we don't even see them at the airport. So they're all the um on the same flight. They fly to India.

One thing to point out, though, is that Ron and Christina ask... In Chinese. In Chinese, what is in the tea? And the guy says papaya and mango. And, like, when Mallory's drinking it, she says peach? Peach? Yeah.

And they hop in the cabs and they're like racing through town. The cabs are running red lights and driving on train tracks or some sort of tracks. And like there's quite a few almost accidents. Mm-hmm.

And then they get to the town hall and it doesn't open until 10. Yeah. it was really funny though, because they were like, like a few teams got there and they, they're like, okay, well we're going to just like camp out here and sleep.

And then a second set of teams kind of all seemed to arrive at the same time. And it was like, it was Gary, Mallory, Margie, Luke, Ron and Christina and the Cowboys that kind of all got out. And all of the teams that were already there, especially flight time and big easy. They were like, run, go find the clue, run, and run. And the,

all those you gotta keep your name on the board yeah and so they're like scrambling around they're like where is it where is it where it was not there they were pranking and Mallory Mallory was really funny she's like hey you guys I'm really good sport about it yeah the just like the silliness of flight time and big easy we like them yes one of our first times in this season like they just haven't had a lot of personality yet none of the teams really have we just really haven't had time because there's still been like a lot of teams but now that we're whittling down yeah we're able to see a little bit more but

Yeah, well then, morning comes and the gates open and they all run in and the clue is a roadblock. It says, who's ready to drink in the scenery? They have to take part in an ancient Indian tea tasting tradition that can take years to master.

ah the team member will gather one papaya and one mango and bring them to or bring them with that brick of tea that they got in China to the tea auctioneer. ah Once the auctioneer infuses the flavors, it didn't even show that part, did it? No. I don't know. They basically just have to hand it to them. and then And then they must find the same tea that they tasted in China amongst hundreds of cups of tea filled with different like tea flavors. Once they find it, they will receive a bottle of iced tea from the auctioneer with a clue printed under the cap.
Detour Choices: Art vs. Literature

So there's this these long table through the whole room. There's probably a thousand or more cups of tea yeah on that table. And they're all varying shades of like orange, yellow, red, brown kind of.

And they have to remember what the tea tasted like in China. And it's probably been – It's been like a day and a half by this point. Yeah.

And so Keisha, Luke, Jet, Kent, Mallory, Flight Time, Zev, and Ron are the ones that are doing the roadblock. And Mr. Ron, he's like, I'm just going to smell him.

Yeah. And he like leans down. And I don't know if it was actually the first one he smelled, but he was like, that smells like mango. And he picks it up and he takes it up and it's right. Yeah. Yeah. Very quickly. So I think it's like another one of these like the earlier you find it, the better chance you have. Yeah, for sure. it whittles the what littles the chances down. Yeah, your ratio of correct answers gets lower and lower as each person finds Mm-hmm.

And... he It probably was helpful that he knew what was in the tea, except for now they all knew because they both had to pick up – they all had to pick up a papaya and a mango. Yeah. So – – but, I mean, I don't think I could smell a thing – like a cup of tea and be like, oh, yeah, that has mango in Yeah.

That would be really hard. Because I'm sure all of them were a little bit like fruity or Yeah, they probably all smelled similar. So they're all trying to kind of like remember the color of the tea. um Just like, yeah. but And it seemed like they had to drink the whole cup before they could go give the cup to the auctioneer to look at it. And then the the auctioneer would look at the bottom of the cup and there was like symbols printed on them. And then he would approve it or not. Yeah.

So when he gets it right, they give him the bottle of iced tea. And you have to figure out that you need to open the lid. And inside the lid, it says the clue, which says, go to the Jorashenko area and find the Tuari tea stall to find your next clue.

So they run outside and go get in a cab. And Kord does the same thing, too, like once he starts smelling it Oh, yeah, Jet. Once he starts smelling it, he gets it correct.

And then Keisha gets a third. And when she gets a bottle of tea, she can't figure out that you need to look inside the cap. Yeah, they think they have to go to some sort of Snapple factory. Yeah. Well, they're like outside looking for a cab. And while they're doing that, they're also asking people, where is Snapple made? Where they make Snapple? And there's a guy on the street that kind of knows. Yeah, he said like the place they were supposed to go. He said Jaroshenko or whatever, which, yeah, that's crazy.

And so they told their cab driver that, but still didn't open the cab. Yeah. And so there's still a few teams in there doing the roadblock. Yeah.

and To a point where they're not even really swallowing the whole cup of tea. They're basically just like pouring it in their mouth Pouring it down the front of their shirts. Yeah. To like come out of their mouth. Like they're not swallowing. It's just like drenching them. Mallory looks like she's going to puke. Yeah. Luke does too theyre They just like...

That is a lot of tea. ah Yeah, he looks miserable. Yeah. and um Kent passes and he grabbed, they gave him the Snapple bottle and he's like, and please give me the clue. And the guy's like, you have it right there. And he's like, what?

And then then when they're walking out, he says to Vixen, give bag right now. He says it like that. and it's kind of just like very random. and Yeah. I'm like, where did that come from? Yeah. It was really weird.

But yeah. Yeah. um So Mallory finally gets it correct. um So Luke and Zev and flight time are the last ones doing it. it. And Zev's getting really frustrated. And we know how he is with tasks. If he gets frustrated, then it's like downhill from there. Yeah. To a point where he like even smashed a cup. Why is he wearing pajamas? Yeah.

Oh, they said, like, he's wearing, like, silver pajamas. Yeah. And at the beginning when they were leaving, it was like, I don't know. I can't remember what the reason was. Yeah. I can't remember either. there But yeah, Justin was like, oh, this is a perfect task for him and his pajamas. Yeah.

But then he, like, throws a glass down and smashes it. And Justin's like, okay, that's not a good sign. Yeah. This is not going well. And Flytime and Luke are getting pretty discouraged as well.

Yeah. um Ron Christina had a bad cab driver, it seems like. um so Because they left pretty well before the rest of the teams. But Kent and Vixen are the first ones to arrive to this tea stall and get this clue.

And this clue is a detour and the choices are Hindu art and Bengali literature. So for Hindu art, they have to go to a statuary shop and paint, dress, and adorn a statue of a Hindu god called Ganesha.

And then Bengali literature, they have to go to a bookstore well the way wow where where they will be given a stack of eight or eight stacks of children's books. And then they have to get themselves and the books into the back of a rickshaw school bus and direct their driver through the congested streets of Kolkata to the nearby school.

I think we would pick art. Yeah. If we were choosing anything where you have to like navigate in India is always a risk. Yeah. it Nobody seems to get very lost, the teams that pick this, but you just never know.

And those little buses are so tiny. Yeah. the Like the people are. Flight Time and Big Easy did not pick this one. It would have been interesting to see them trying to get inside little bus. Yeah. I think of that. Because they're made for kids. Mm-hmm. So they're just little.

and yeah. Anyway. So Ken and Vixen choose Hindu art. Gary and Mallory are not far behind them. They choose Bengali literature. then Keisha and Jen are just like still – they get dropped off in this area, but they still haven't opened their bottle yet. Mm-hmm. And they're like asking people like, where's Snapple? Where's Snapple?

And they're like oh this is so great. I'm going to drink this. I'm going to drink this iced tea if we have to keep running around. Yeah. And then somebody tries to like take it out of Jen's hand and open the cap. And Jen's like, why would they do that? Why would they open it? And Keisha was like, maybe it is on the lid. And they open it and they're like, oh, my gosh.

So they start going to the right direction. um And they choose Hindu art. Ron and Christina also choose Hindu art. The Cowboys choose Bengali literature and Zev and Justin choose literature.

And then we cut back to Flight Time and Luke. Yeah. Who are still at the T. And Flight Time, like, he always has a ah pretty good attitude. Yeah.

But you can tell he's starting to get frustrated. and Big Easy is still also just like, you got this. You got this. He's like also staying positive. They talk about their last time. Yeah. In the Czech Republic when they took the penalty because they couldn't get the task. And they said that we made a promise to ourselves that we weren't going to do that this time. Yeah. Yeah.
Struggles & Victories at the Challenges

And Luke is the last one left. And he like breaks down. He starts crying. And he says like, he's like, mama. Yeah. And he says, it's too hard. And she says, you have to finish. Like, please keep going. yeah And he's really, really upset. um Gary and Mallory end up finishing the detour first. And the clue says, make your way across town to the area called Maidan or something like that.

I didn't write that Searching the area near the Fountain of Joy and the Victoria Memorial Hall, teams will find this pit stop for this leg of the race. The last team to check in may be eliminated. Mm-hmm. um And other teams are doing their are detours. Like Kenton Vixen are enjoying their detour a lot because they have to draw their... Yeah. they' Like to paint it pink. Yeah. Paint it pink. They're like, it's perfect for us. It's like it's getting ready in the morning.

And... um these tasks, these detours are not too difficult compared to other detours we've seen. yeah Like both of them are not crazy. It doesn't seem like the getting to the school with the published from the publisher to the school is not that far yeah or difficult and the it's not too intricate of of design a painting and designing this thing so it's like mostly pink the head stays white the there's like a little bit of blue and then just like besides like putting the makeup on and the the outfit yeah it's not it's not too crazy and so when flytime and big easy get to the clue they choose hindu art yeah which surprised me actually yeah

But they also probably were like, we're not that good at navigating. I feel like sometimes they do get lost in like navigation tasks. So. So back to Luke again. yeah He's now like laying on the ground. like Margie is like, I don't know if he's going to finish this.

And he is really upset. She says, please finish. I know you'll how you'll feel if you don't finish. Like, you have to finish. And he gets back up and the people, there's a bunch of men in this room that are, like, refilling the cups or. Yeah, just, like, the the facilitators of the task.

And, in like traditional clothing and stuff like that. And they're, when he gets back up, they're cheering him on. Yeah. He kind of cheats towards at the end, but I don't think it even really matters to anybody. So he yeah has like a a silver platter and he just piles cups on it. Yeah, he just puts like 10 cups on there and goes up to the front. Yeah, and just does them one the time. Just like it and holds it up, drinks it, holds it up, drinks it, holds it up. And he finally gets it.

And all the guys are like so ah proud of him. Yeah, they're like cheering and they're like lifting him Lift him up on their shoulders. Well, not all on their shoulders, but like lift him up in hugs and- I was like, I liked that part a lot. i know. They were really proud of him for finishing and Margie was so proud of him. um Yeah, that was really, really mentally difficult.

And as... Because it does look like they're almost done. Yeah. And as they're finishing up, Flight Time accidentally kicks a bucket of brown paint and it splatters all over the statue that they just finished up. Yeah.

And they have to get ah the other colors of paint to color over it and fix it. And Big Easy's like, Are you kidding me Come on But they end up finishing it up and they are heading out and Fly Time like stops to give both Margie and Luke a hug and because he yeah yeah yeah suffered through that with them. And and he was like, good job. like Really proud of him. Good job for finishing. And Margie was like, that is so nice of them. Yeah.

So... Then teams are racing from their cabs to... they're basically in a standstill in traffic. Yeah, for long time.

And they all find kind of get out at the same time and they're running to the end. They're not like running so fast thinking that they're going to one of them is going to be last place. I think they kind of understand that they're towards the front. Yeah. But team number two are Jet Cord. Number three are Ron and Christina. And number four are Zev and Justin. Yeah. And they're all on the mat at the same time. And then Kent and Vixen come while these guys are still on the mat. And Phil's like, who wants to tell them what number they are? And Jet's like, team four.

And I was like, wait a second. And then Phil's like, no, team five. Yeah. Yeah, and then um they kind of show like fight time and big easy having a hard time finding a cab and then when Margie and Luke finish, they find a cab right away and their driver says they know exactly where it is. it looks like they got in the cab like right at the same time. Yeah, but...
