Speaker
Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Tony's Game Lounge.

Casual Weather Talk

00:00:51
Speaker
I'm your host, as always, Tony Fourteen. And joining me this week is season regular and now the official Game Lounge Esports Insider. Servails look great. Hey, guys. ah Hello. Welcome back, man. Thank you. Always good to be back. It is, it is. How are you doing? How is your day so far? It's a nice little Friday we're recording this on.

Hot Takes on Video Games

00:01:16
Speaker
Yes, this Friday it's actually been really nice because you can go outside and not die from the stupid heatwave that we've been having.
00:01:23
Speaker
Yeah. ah Actually touch grass today. You touch grass. Are you, would is it smoky though? Is there a, uh, it's not super bad in my area right now. Um, it's comes and goes though. So yeah, definitely. Well, we do get to start with one thing brand new here, Wiggles, because, uh, you're a returning guest and we do have a thing for returning guests now. It's a hot takes or you get to give us your hottest video game take. Ooh, that's a can of worms that could bleed anywhere. It can. I think I'm going to go with what we were talking about the other day with Ninja Frog as my hot take that Overwatch 2 is terrible.
00:02:07
Speaker
And I haven't played it since it was Overwatch. And I hate all of the changes. I hate it. I hate it. I don't know if you heard. This is actually a great way to lead into this. ah They are doing testing for bringing back a 6v6 mode. Please, please. That's when the game was good. It was different than all the other crap that's out there. oh Yeah, they're doing tests for that. um don't know I don't know if it's like beta testing or where it's at right now, but they're doing tests for that and it may come back.

Evo Announcements and Fighting Games

00:02:44
Speaker
Who knows? I will consider reinstalling it if they bring it back. If they don't, I will leave it uninstalled.
00:02:51
Speaker
to know good to know well it was a busy ah week this past week because it was Evo and that's our headline of the week well the headlines week not Evo specifically but the announcements that were made at Evo ah because there were a lot if you're a fighting game fan you'll be eating good for a little while ah Starting off with one of the biggest announcements that they made, ah Guilty Gear Strive, um they showed off ah the next batch of characters for Season 4, including Queen Dizzy, who will be releasing in October, ah a character called Venom in 2025, a new character called ah Unika, or unka and their first, Guilty Gear's very first collaboration character.
00:03:40
Speaker
Guest Fighter, that's the term I'm looking for, the Guest Fighter. From Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Lucy is getting added to Guilty Gear Strive. I'm actually surprised they went with Lucy instead of like, Maine or somebody. I still haven't watched Edgerunners. Yeah. So for those who have watched if you're under mate, like Lucy wasn't really like a combat person in the show, but Maine was big guy. Fighting guy would make a very good fighting character, I think. But it's still good to see the collaboration. Yeah. Cyberpugs cool and fighting games can be cool when I don't suck at them.
00:04:21
Speaker
Yeah, but absolutely. But yeah, crazy funny crazy to see that, but very cool. Very cool in indeed. ah Next, Multiverse showed off two new characters. One of them is out now. That's Samurai Jack. ah You can play as him right now in Multiverse. And Beetlejuice is coming later on to the game. Next, with King of Fighters 15, they're getting Vice and Mature, to new character two characters getting added to that roster. Fatal Fury City of the Wolves will be adding Kevin Rean to the roster. ah they Remember, that game has a early 2025 release window.
00:05:01
Speaker
Next, just some announcements. There's going to be a new Art of Fighting game in the works, and Samurai Showdown is getting an ARPG spinoff game. SNK is looking to staff up for these two developments. Then a big one, SNK versus Capcom SVC Chaos. was dropped on Steam. It's out now. It's ah out on Steam, Switch and PlayStation 4. And they announced it and they're like, yeah, it's ah out now. but This is a remake of the SNK versus Capcom game. So very cool to see.
00:05:40
Speaker
Under Night In-Birth 2, Sisseles is adding Uzuki to the game. I believe they're out now. And they also showed off the other characters, Ogre and Izumi coming out in 2025. Then a new fighting game was announced entirely. ah Hunter x Hunter none impact. A new 3v3 fighting game is coming out later this year based off of the Hunter x Hunter franchise. ah Street Fighter 6 showed off ah bit a little bit with Terry, basically confirming that Terry is our next character that we're getting um in the Street Fighter 6 order, um meaning Elena or Mai will be after Terry, as we got Bison earlier this year.
00:06:24
Speaker
Uh, Granblue Fantasy versus Rising is adding a Versusia, August 20th and Vicala sometime in October. And lastly, the biggest, I would say one of the bigger announcements, uh, comes in the form of Tekken news. Heihachi Mishima is not dead. He is alive. Harada alive to all of us. And he is coming out fall 2024 in Tekken 8. they can't they've They have tried to kill Heihachi so many times and hes he just never dies. you know how they take how they you Do you know how they killed him in Tekken 7, Wiggles? No, i i don't I'm not related to the Tekken stuff. but i Neither am I. I've just seen stuff. Do you know much of a Tekken lore?
00:07:14
Speaker
No, not at all. Okay. This is definitely a question for Zach. brief Brief summary of what I know. There is a devil gene in the Mishima family, which is the main cast of your main characters of Jin, who's the current protagonist, Kazuya, who was the main protagonist, but slowly turned into the villain. It is now the main villain and Heihachi, who was the villain and then a good guy and then the villain and it's The complex, the family basically does not like each other. and they all They all try to kill each other, basically. Well, at the end of Tekken 7, Kazuya Akachi fought once again, and Akachi lost, and Kazuya threw him into a volcano. Huh. What a way to die. Well, he's not dead, though. He's alive! He's out of there! He came out of the fucking volcano! Perfectly fine!
00:08:10
Speaker
so can Take more than a volcano to kill. Yes. Hey hachi. Yes i Apparently will um I believe there was also a moral combat announcement of a character, but I don't remember who it was um I'm actually gonna look it up because ah That's the one game I could please forgot about a new character Yeah, I can't even remember. Yeah. no don cameie but that's who's That's who's getting at it. That's the next ah character who is getting added. That's OK. Show it off. It's cool. um Coming up this summer. That is what it is. And that those are basically the big announcements. I don't know if there were any other announcements at Evo, but those were the big ones that ah all the other media outlets covered. So that's what I was able to grab.
00:09:02
Speaker
yeah Um, but yeah, it was a good from what I, from what everything I've heard from our actual guy who watched Evo this year, Zach, uh, we had Evo moment 38. Um, and a bunch of other things. and I'm pretty sure that Wiggles will be giving us a bit of a Evo recap as well with his esports reports later on. Uh, spoiler alert, I will not be. Oh, well, okay then. So watch Evo highlights. Uh, it was a good show. It was a good, it was a good gear this year from everything I heard.
00:09:34
Speaker
Yes, same

Recent Game Releases and Issues

00:09:35
Speaker
from what I heard. I wasn't able to watch it, unfortunately, so I can't really give a good recap on it anyway. um ah But I think the big one at their website. Yeah, go check out the website. Sonic Fox won Mortal Kombat and is now like I think he has like all like nine championship titles. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Nine nine championship titles. so And that's not quite the most yet. It's not the most yet, but it's ah it's a good contender for. Oh, yeah. He's on the like the fast track. Yeah. ah Yeah. ah Well, of that it's diverse to dive into everything else that happened in these past two weeks by diving into the week in review.
00:10:18
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review. Kicking it off with some of the games that came out these past two weeks, you had aerial nights we never yield, nobody wants to die, the Nintendo World Championship NES Edition, Kenizu Gami Path of the Goddess, Dungeons of Hinterberg, and Earth Defense Force 6, which has been bombarded on Steam with mostly negative reviews because you have to link to an Epic Games account. Yeah. And people are not happy about that.
00:10:58
Speaker
I think people are just sick of linking games to other accounts when they buy it on one platform. Yeah, no, and that's very understandable. Which is sad, because Earth

Game Announcements and Mods

00:11:07
Speaker
Defense Force games were a lot of fun.
00:11:11
Speaker
ah i i You guys, I think it was TC who bought EDF5 for me. yeah i I tried it, not my style of game, not my not my Forte. Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone. ah In the world of video game news, kicking off, Nintendo, oh boy, Nintendo teased off a really creepy trailer but i for a new project that was called Mystery Project Emio, and it was creepy. People were like, what the fuck, Nintendo? Did you guys get hacked? What the fuck is this? And people were concerned and scared. However, it was later revealed that it was actually a Hong Kong-plorand new entry in the 35-year-old franchise, the Famicom Detective Club. So Emio, the smiling man Famicom Detective Club, releases August 29th, which is really, really cool to see.
00:12:05
Speaker
Also in Nintendo the star fee trilogy has been added to the Nintendo switch online service um being the first time that those games are in North America, I think Which is very cool because I think they I know they've ever in Japan I don't know if they were in Europe. I want to say they might have been but I don't remember um But the star fee games you can now play on NSO ah In the weirdest collaboration ever that I have seen And I've seen a lot Dave the diver Fun indie game where you dive go catch fish turn those fish into sushi Well, they've the diver was added to Nikkei goddess of victory
00:12:52
Speaker
Yeah, okay. Yeah, and I'm reading the note here. I'm just staring at it right now. For those who don't know what Nikkei Goddess of Victory is, good. Stay that way. This is, if you've seen those ads, you might have seen an ad for it, actually. It's the game where you you see those those girls anime gorals with guns. shoot guns with jiggle physics. Well, day of the diver, they gender swapped them and put them in the K. They added a minigame that basically replicates the day of the diver game. But Dave is just an anime waifu now. It's weird. I this is it's weird. It's this is a strange way to get into a new market. Yeah.
00:13:47
Speaker
yeah Yeah, that that happened. um I guess if you play Nikkei, the only people who I know that play Nikkei are the horny Vtubers.
00:14:02
Speaker
That's it. I've never met an actual person aside from them who play Nikkei.
00:14:10
Speaker
Anyways, 1047 games announced that Splitgate 2 will be released the next year ah designed from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. Did you ever play Splitgate? I did not. I was supposed to. And then I think we just all kind of forgot about it. That's fair. That's fair. My brother played a bit of Splitgate. He said it was pretty fun. ah In emulator views the dolphin emulator added a brand new long requested feature integration with retro achievements Which is a community driven project that adds Xbox or Steve style achievements to thousands of older games and the dolphin emulator Got its integration with it. So it's added. I don't exactly know the exact number of games ah in that the Wii GameCube catalog that have integration with that but
00:15:06
Speaker
Now some of them do, which is super cool. And it's really cool to see. ah In mod news, Fallout London, the massive, massive mod for Fallout 4, is now out. And finally, I have been waiting so long for this mod. So you can download it now. um There's video instructions on how to download this massive mod and put it into your Fallout 4 game. And ah yeah, really cool. Glad to see it finally out, especially after the when the next gen version of Fallout 4 came out, it delayed that even more ah because it basically broke everything.
00:15:49
Speaker
Damn you, Bethesda.
00:15:54
Speaker
ah In, I guess, bounty news? Distortion2, who is an Elden Ring speedrunner and the former world record holder, has announced a new project on his YouTube channel. Defeat all the Remembrance Bosses in Shadow of the Ertree, including Bail, with limited Scatatry levels and DLC weapons, all while beating only level 1, And there's a bounty of $10,000. Do whoever can do it first. So, uh, good luck and get a good therapist to those competing.

Industry News and Strikes

00:16:35
Speaker
Yeah. Uh, in Blizzard news, uh, the world of Warcraft team has unionized. Congratulations.
00:16:47
Speaker
That's about the only good news from Blizzard in a while. Yeah, yeah, legit. Yeah. Wow. A rare W for Blizzard. Good job. Power Watch Simulator added two brand new maps for their new um dirt files, whatever they're called to camera, what they're called off the top of my head. um They added an aquarium map and a submarine map to the game. So now you can clean both of those. ah Seven days to die 1.0 is now officially out on Steam PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X Which is very exciting because I I think we' we're gonna bring back December ah Now that it's at 1.0. I think yeah, you can finally play it officially instead of yeah, I
00:17:35
Speaker
Whatever it was before that. ah Alphas. I think i think it was they were alphas is what they they were called. they So ah very cool. Love to see that. I love Seven Days to Die. Seven Days to Die is great. I've played a lot of this. And lastly, in regular news, this is breaking news, in a sense. SAG-AFTRA announced that video game performers will go on strike July 26 at 1201 a.m., which is they are recording it. They are on strike right now. More than 2,500 video game performers, which includes voice actors, motion caption performers, and others, they are heading to the picket line after nearly two years of negotiations with major video game companies.
00:18:20
Speaker
The biggest sticking point in these negotiations is the unrestricted use of artificial intelligence, ah according to the news release. So very big. We saw this happen with the writers and the actors. And now the video game voice actors in that industry now go on strike. And ah it's going to be interesting to see where this goes, how it will affect production of video games and what will get affected by this.
00:18:53
Speaker
because I don't really know how many games are going to be affected by this. Probably a lot, I would assume. It might just slow everything right down in terms of game development. Which, honestly, is what I'm going to say. As a guy who's very behind on, like, a lot of other games, good. He lets me catch up. I can finally play other games and then...

Game Updates and Cultural Critiques

00:19:20
Speaker
Oh, God. Well, here's my other hot take is that maybe they'll actually focus on some quality because they won't have anybody to voice act their games. That too. That too. I agree with that too. Maybe just maybe. This will be another good game. This will inadvertently fix the problems that we've been having in the gaming industry for like the last five years. Yeah, it might just do that. That would be great.
00:19:50
Speaker
But we'll have to wait and see. And but it also depends how long they'll go on strike. Who knows? they They'll come to the table right away. um who Who knows? Don't really know how long it'll last for. um We will be keeping you updated on this podcast though as the strike continues. In live service game news, starting off with Final Fantasy XIV, the Gongcha collaboration is live. You purchase three drinks in one order to receive a King-Porksy mount code all across North America until August 28th.
00:20:26
Speaker
So, ah if you like Boba and other drinks like that, go to a Gongcha! If you play Final Fantasy XIV and order three of them, you can have them all yourself or you can give them to your friends. ah You can also get little keychains too, which are very cool. um In Battle Royale live service replay game news Overwatch 2's new hero Juno is releasing officially on August 20th They had a playtest weekend not that long ago ah For Juno and August 20th is now the official release date
00:21:01
Speaker
In Hoya news, Genshin Impact's Natland trailer has released and has fans divided. This new trailer shows 11 brand new characters coming with this massive update, including the Pyro, or what few people believe the Pyro Archon is, Maviyuka. The trailer and Mavioka have inspired criticism from players who say the characters aren't based on but don't probably represent Latin American cultures as the new area is based around the ancestral home of the Aztecs, roughly. So now fans on TikTok and other social medias are calling out the development team for his decision to portray characters as light or with light skin.
00:21:46
Speaker
Now, Hoyo has yet to confirm whether Mavayuka is the Pyro icon or not, which may or may not help their case at this point. ah yeah That's why I'm reading the Hoyo news and Mellow is not as Mellow is on a Hoyo strike as well. So, there's your Hoyo news.

Esports Events and Keynote Speakers

00:22:04
Speaker
ah And now, we get into our esports news. Take it away, Wiggles.
00:22:15
Speaker
Yeah, let's jump into some esports news. Some big things are coming in Lisbon, Portugal this fall. Starting September 23rd through 25th, ESI Lisbon will be taking place at the MO MEO Arena. ah yeah ESI Lisbon is an exhibition of several events such as the ESI Film Festival that takes place on the Super Stage, the Esports Insider Hall of Fame awards ceremony, which is designed to honor those who have contributed to the development of the esports industry. The play by Reels Esports Legal Forum, which is in a like ah just a focus group that goes through legal questions affecting the industry, and Checkpoint, a dedicated content track focus on the creator economy and video games. Esports Lisbon will be hosted beside another big event happening at the same time, is sbc is the SBC Summit. 600 exhibitors will be showcasing the newest industry goods in the same arena, the MEO Arena.
00:23:13
Speaker
and over 450 speakers will be sharing their knowledge in various formats through September 24th and 26th. Notably, the two keynote speakers are Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, and Tony Hawk. That's such a drastic scale. Tony Hawk, legendary skateboarder and entrepreneur. ah Sam Cooke, the managing director and co-founder of Esports Insider in a statement said, we're really happy to host this alongside our biggest event in history in Lisbon.
00:23:48
Speaker
which, itself, alongside the SBC Summit, a 25,000 delegate show focused on iGaming, payments, sports and tech, and featuring the keynote speaker, Tony Hawk. This means yeah ESI Lisbon and esports leaders' attendees will have full access to this these events, meaning pretty amazing business development opportunities. If you want to find out more details on these events and what's being showcased and the announcements that are coming soon, you can find them on their website at esportersinsider.com and sbcevents.com.
00:24:22
Speaker
ah But, looking forward into August as for esports tournaments and events, we have Counter-Strike 2 Blast Premiere Fall Groups, which began on, well, today as of recording this, and it will be happening through August 4th. So as you're listening, you can go check that out. The Apex Legends Global Series 2024 Split 2 playoffs will be happening this August, but there was no date attached to it, unfortunately. ah The Arena of Valor RVO Pro League 2024 is happening this month in Thailand. The honor of King's Mid-Season Invitational 2024 is happening from August 1st through 4th in Saudi Arabia. The Valorant Champions 2024 is happening from August 1st through 25th in South Korea.
00:25:11
Speaker
freefid Free Fire World Series Southeast Asia Fall 2024 is taking place at the beginning of August and it's running right through October. IEM Cologne's Counter-Strike series takes place August 7th through 25th, and the last Premier Fall Showdown for Counter-Strike 2 is taking place from August 21st through 25th. And lastly, we got the Rensport ESL R1 2024 Spring Esports World Cup on August 22nd through 25th in Saudi Arabia.
00:25:43
Speaker
And that is all I have for the esports news this episode, so I guess we go back to us. yeah Yeah. Wow. That's a lot. that's I like the fact, I just love the fact it was like, yeah, if you go to this event here, ah you can hear the guy who created the World Wide Web and Tony Hawk speak at the of the same stage. That's yeah that's hilarious. Yeah. lot I started researching like on a different event that was like smaller on that. And then as soon as I saw Tony Hawk, I'm like, I got lead to lead into this because this is.
00:26:16
Speaker
Awesome. Awesome. But also there should be a lot of developments within the esports industry as a whole coming out of this event, considering it's one of the biggest like business to business events.

Trading Card Game Releases

00:26:30
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. Like in the year. So. Yeah. No, absolutely. I think I think just saying Tony Hawk is a great way to get people like, wait, what? Tony Hawk. I love that guy. He skateboards.
00:26:44
Speaker
What are they adding? What are they going to add to the hawk to skateboard? Well, are they going to add what? Sorry, when are they going to add Tony Hawk to skateboard to skateboard?
00:26:56
Speaker
I have no idea that should happen. Does she do that? That's the collab I wish that they would give us. That's the collab I'm i'm hoping for now. um Moving on to our the TCG world and news with Pokรฉmon Shrouded Fable releases August 2nd and Stellar Crown releases September 13th. ah With Yu-Gi-Oh!, the Light Instruction Booster Packs release August 8th, and the 25th Anniversary Tin Dueling Mirrors, September 20th. Imagine the Gathering, Bloomborough, August 2nd release date, um Duskborn, House of Horror releases September 27th, and Imagine the Gathering Foundations on November 15th. Also,
00:27:35
Speaker
Wizards of the Coast recently announced that its next Secret Lair launch for Magic the Gathering will feature cards inspired by Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Pre-orders start July 29th and they go until August 18th. I didn't have that on my 2024 bingo card. Uh, it's, uh, 10 cards, two drops of them, or two sets of five. Pretty great, though. That is pretty funny. I love that. I, I, that's, that's a pretty awesome one, uh, for the secret lair. Disney Larkana. Shimmering Skies, release August 23rd. That's it for TCG. Moving on to Tabletop. Starting off, Hasbro is making a Monopoly board game based off its mobile game based off the board game. What?
00:28:23
Speaker
So Monopoly Go, ah the mobile game, is getting a board game. The board game gives each player their own small Monopoly board. it's You can play it with two to four players total. um Basically your rush to build the first landmark is an iteration on a daily event in Monopoly Go um called Landmark Rush. And they turned it into a board game. So now it's the board game based off the mobile game based off the board game.
00:28:49
Speaker
i it's that I wasn't expecting that on my bingo card. that's what i that's I'm sure that's... ah I know likegopoly it's and know it's a bit of a different game, but just the whole...
00:29:05
Speaker
Hurts my brain, just hurts my brain.

D&D Rulebook Updates and Burnout

00:29:07
Speaker
And lastly, we talked we've talked about it a little bit before we're talking again, um the 2024 D and&D rule book. um Well, it had some stuff come out about it, you know, because it's coming out September 17th. Austin and Goliath are now getting added as core race choices. Half orcs have been replaced by orcs. And there's also a lot more quality of life changes to the other races. As well, I will definitely be picking up or trying to pick up the new core rulebook once it releases. um But we'll be talking more about this when we get to our topic of the week. ah Anything else you want to add ah before we head to the next segment, Wiggles? News related stuff? I don't think so.
00:29:56
Speaker
No, I think think we're good. Alrighty, well in that case, it's time for us to move on what to the games you should play that you might want to play that are going to be on your radar from July 29th to August 9th. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar. Kicking it off, no games on the 29th or 30th release, but on the 31st, Minds Beneath Us releases on PC and sort of Convaleria releases on PC and mobile devices. On the 1st, Operation Tango releases for the Switch. Star Wars Bounty Hunter releases on everything.
00:30:33
Speaker
Thank goodness You're Here releases on the PlayStation systems, the Switch, and PC. Tomba Special Edition releases on the PS5, Switch, and PC. Kitsune Tales releases on everything, and Mars 2120 also releases on everything. On Friday, the on the 2nd, The Mortuary Assistant releases on PlayStation and Xbox systems. On Monday the 5th, Fields of Mystery yeah releases on PC. On the 6th, Peppergrinder makes his way to the PlayStation and Xbox systems. Volgar the Viking 2 releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. And Signe all kinds of blazing releases on the PS5, Series X, and PC.

Speaker
On the seventh, Creatures of Ava releases on the Series X and PC. And on the eighth, Cat Quest III releases on everything. Deathbound releases on the PlayStation 5, Series X and PC. Steam World Heist II releases on everything. That time, I got reincarnated as a slime. Isekai Chronicles releases on everything. And on the ninth, The Crush House releases on PC. And those are all the games coming out within the next two weeks. That should be on your radar. Any thoughts on any of those wiggles? Not really. I actually haven't... The only one I've really known about was Star Wars Bounty Hunter.
00:31:50
Speaker
Okay, okay. For me, Mortuary Assistant, very popular horror game that's been on Steam, making its way to the consoles, very cool to see. Also, Pepper Grinder, making its way to console as well, very cool. Very cool game to check out. You should also go check out ah the speedrun of the game that was at the most recent SGDQ by Shovelclaws. Cool speed run to go check out. I'm very excited for Cat Quest 3, believe it or not. As a guy who recently platinumed Cat Quest 1 and 2, Cat Quest 3 is going to be a perfect time. I don't have my womp womp button ready.
00:32:40
Speaker
ah But yeah, those are all the games Coming out. Hopefully a cat quest 3 just gets added to PlayStation Plus ah So I could play it for free because that's what I did with the other two. So hoping big for that um Well now it's time for us to dive into our main focus this week. We're only talking a lot of D and&D and tabletop stuff Here's what we're talking about this week at the game lounge
00:33:03
Speaker
Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. And we're talking D&D. It's been a good while since we actually talked about any real tabletop news on the podcast, because there really hasn't been a lot ever until the new rule book, Monster Manual and DM Guide were announced. They're like, hey, here's the release dates for the new core stuff. And they're like, whoa, let's go. It's always been like just tons of rumor and conjecture about it till really recently.
00:33:41
Speaker
So what are your thoughts on the new rule book? I'm very mixed and really like even when we were like trying to choose what we wanted to talk about for the podcast and whatnot and just going through the last couple of days, you know, like, OK, now some of this is cool, some of this is great, but I don't. I don't know. I, I, I mixed, but I more think of it as like what happened with D and D three when they added like 3.5. That's kind of how I'm feeling this whole, whole addition. Okay. So like that was before, yeah I'm going to say that this is before that was way before my time. So I actually don't know what that was like. Yeah. I don't think it was like, obviously like,
00:34:26
Speaker
it being many, many a year ago. Yeah. It wasn't, I think, as like... I don't i don't even know if controversial is the right word, but it seems like it is. with the with the changes, but some of, like, I'm okay with, like, a lot of the subclasses look really cool, the the new subclasses that they're introducing, making ASMR and Goliath's as core ah player character races are pretty great. I dislike the removal of the half-orc. Half-orcs are great. Love half-orcs. They should just make half-orcs a subgenre of the orc then.
00:35:06
Speaker
Yeah, if if the if they're not doing that, it's kind of kind of disappointing because the half arc has been like a like a core race in D&D forever. But yeah, you could be full arc. Yeah. Which I mean, it's OK. They should have. does Becoming a full arc means more racism or less racism. I mean, I guess it all depends on your D.M. In honesty.
00:35:34
Speaker
Fair enough. but Fair enough. Because i've I've only, as a player, which I haven't been a player in a long time, I've only dealt with orcs as evil characters. You and me the long time DMs. Yeah, forever DMs. Forever DMs. Yep. I'm fine with that though. It means I can have silly voices and kill people at my discretion.
00:36:06
Speaker
I mean, it is one of the joys, one of the but benefits of being a DM. Yeah. ah You can you can tell where our mental state is when it comes with all the with all of that God How has D&D been for you wiggles? It's how's it been going? Has it been joyful? have you Is are you burnt out of it? where Where are you with it right now? Cuz I'm just because I'm finally like at the rec I mean the like light stage recovery of my burnout with D and&D
00:36:45
Speaker
I think I'm the same way. Those who are in my campaign, who haven't actually heard me talk about it ah for the last one, I ended up really hating the last campaign that I ran. And I'm not sure how some of the other players felt about it, but it definitely it definitely wasn't smooth. So I got burnt out very, very fast. I also was doing two sessions on a Sunday so on a Sunday. So basically from when I got up in the morning to when I went to bed at like midnight, I was it was all D and&D all day. ge So that I'm like, I could do that. It's only like two, two small groups. I could do it now. It's it's a lot of work. It's so much work. That's a lot of like with my old before I tapped out of my
00:37:36
Speaker
third third campaign essentially. i but it it For me, it was just I was not having fun anymore. Also, my big thing was combat, and it's D and&D combat just really fucking burned me out majorly.
00:37:55
Speaker
Yeah, I can see that. It was every other part I enjoyed, but combat, I did not. And I was. Yeah, I could see that for like, I think what what the rule I usually have with DD combat, especially when I was running with with the the bigger group, is that I basically put a time limit on. Your your turn, and if you didn't make a move, something bad would happen. Ooh, that sounds I'll run that by my players. Yeah. it just it It makes, it makes combat a little bit more devastating. You only have so much time to make a decision. and the ah Like you still want to be generous with the time that you give them. Yeah. Well, how much time did you give your players? Uh, I'm trying to remember. I think I only gave them because we were running with like,
00:38:47
Speaker
are people who I think we were running with like seven people, six or seven of people. So I only gave them like 30 to 45 seconds or something to make their moves. So it also encourages people to think about your turn as other people are taking their turns and as I'm doing like the big, if it was like a big encounter as I'm doing my term as the DM because it just takes time moving units and stuff around. yeah So it's just like, don't, don't just like not think about your turn and when it's your turn. No, I should have done that with my second campaign because that we had like, I think by the end of it, we had like, yeah, we had like seven as well by the end of it. And then we started campaign three with 10 people. ah yeah Yeah. Thankfully, if kind of for my safety, for my sanity, um that shrunk down to like six pretty quickly.

D&D Campaign Planning

00:39:44
Speaker
But so still, it was like a lot of things.
00:39:49
Speaker
a lot of things happened like with the start of like in the preparation and like like it was like schedules weren't lining up for like a lot of people so there was a lot of no shows on top of that and it was just starting to get I don't know it wasn't I even though like I had help like building the campaign it was like I was just losing investment in my own writing with that which is which which is odd odd for me because i think Yeah, I was experiencing the exact same thing with the last campaign just because it was overwhelming. Yeah. Yeah. But my next campaign I'm going to be doing, I'm picking a small group of people and it's going to be a small group and then it might bring in like people that want to do like one shots that can't always make it all the time, but I'll bring them as like a guest player character or something. Yeah. ah Yeah. We're both in the middle of working on brand new ones.
00:40:41
Speaker
Yeah, let's start with you. Where what about said you done? ah what What what how much on a progress scale bar? How much would you say you have done of this new campaign like prep work done? Well, if we're gonna relate this back to video games I am when daisies Ed was announced there are seven days to die. Sorry was announced three wow So my next campaign will be ready in 10 years. Nice. Hell yeah, man. Let's go. The long burn. Let's go. Yeah. No, I'm just coming out of burnout, so I'm just starting to write. And then I'm also deciding on a new, ah whether I want to actually go back into D and&D 5E or if I want to switch game mechanics, because ah
00:41:33
Speaker
I guess I got another hot take. I'm not super supportive of Wizards of the coast right now. Yeah, they think that they've been a lot. I know a lot of people are with like those decisions that they've been making with certain things. Well, between the decisions and then they're just being a shitty company. Yeah. Yeah. yeah That too. But I've been looking at like Pathfinder 2, but I'm undecided. So like I can't work on specific encounters until I'm decided on mechanics and rules. But ah in terms of world building, I'm slowly, slowly starting to do that.
00:42:05
Speaker
Are you good? Are you going to look at that new, uh, the critical role? Uh, God, what was their tabletop calls? I can't remember what it's called. It's been a lot. It's been so long since it was announced. but said I can't even remember because I've heard this. So I can't remember it. Uh, did it have something to do with like, Tails of Exandria or something like that? No, that's that's a different one. But the the critical role tabletop that they showed off that Mercer showed off in the video how combat and all that stuff work. Can you see that? I know I posted in the game. I was just scored. I don't remember how long ago. like I think I saw it. I'll scroll back up and find it not to. ah There it is. Daggerheart Daggerheart. OK.
00:42:54
Speaker
Yeah, I wanted to look into it. I haven't yet. It looks interesting. i
00:43:01
Speaker
yeah So if you if you need a change, maybe that maybe that might be the change for you. Who knows? Who who knows? I, for one, because where I am with campaign four is what I'm, because it's my fourth campaign that I'm working on. I thankfully don't have to do a lot of writing for it ah because I'm kind of taking a lot of inspiration from a very famous MMORPG.
00:43:28
Speaker
Ooh, ooh, ooh. It's Final Fantasy 15, right? um Close. Close. Close. Don't spoil anything if you if you're trying to say that. My group knows um that it is taking a lot of inspiration from Final Fantasy XIV. ah They know that already. um I just need to make maps. And dungeons, which is basically how it's basically going to be me in one screen, Final Fantasy 14, or I go into each dungeon and then I recreate each dungeon in. My math maker.
00:44:18
Speaker
Okay. And, uh, yeah, that's basically what I'm going to be doing. Um, and then making the world map again, just, you know, inspired by Eorzea, not quite Eorzea, but, uh, thankfully there was an online community that made every class in 14. in D and&D and I used that and basically all right basically that's like it's like an FF14 D and&D guidebook essentially and I'm using that we're using that as like the main uh for characters and classes and everything that's where I get it from. I wonder if that's uh one of my players uh a recurring game launch remember TC actually uh pulled out uh Sage for the last one I allowed him to
00:45:06
Speaker
That might have been because I showed TC that. Yeah, so you might have pulled it out of there. Yeah, this character was broke as fuck, though. So you might have to watch out for that. I mean, I deal with money very. I'm doing a with what with what I discuss with the group, we're doing a we're not going to do like. OK, I guess a good question for you. How do you do experience? Do you do it based on the encounter or do you do it based on the the milestone? Milestones, um yeah the which I might be changing up the way I do it a little bit, but it'll still be based on like milestones or like milestones of like where they're at and what encounters I'm putting them up against, or if they've done something that's worth leveling, so um which is the kind of the new way I went around it. so What was the the example I thought of? It's like ah if you were, I'm just gonna say a fighter or whatever, but you make a pact with a
00:46:07
Speaker
fiendish character or something, then you'll eventually get a level into Warlock. ah Not by your own choice, but it's because you made a pact. Oh, interesting. Yeah. So stuff so stuff like that. Okay, cool. Yeah, with with me, I have divided it up. ah so Essentially with what I've done is I've divided up the story that they're going to be following. it's got I think it's follows. 87 milestones, essentially, uh, by the end of what I currently have. So I'm alternating a level up every two milestones or something like that. So it's going to go like level up, treasure reward per milestone. And then so every, so often that way it's I'd be able to keep them at
00:47:03
Speaker
I'm not able to make them super overpowered super fast like I have with my previous campaigns. Yeah. I mean, I've had had players that they they just like to they focus on the level up. Yeah. lot And I'm like, I like the slow burns because but what even as a DM once you get and it's kind of like the way Baldur's Gate 3 design their game too is like once you get to like a high enough level, it's really hard to make. Good encounters. Because they'll just like wipe everything. Yeah, no. That's the second, which can be fun in one context, because it shows like this is where we are level one and this is where you're now at a level 15. Yeah. So like a threat before it's a good progression thing, but like just making like high level encounters can be quite difficult, especially if you're running a like a larger party. Yeah, no, definitely. Oh, yeah. So.
00:48:00
Speaker
How big is your next campaign going to be? Uh, if we're talking players, um, I think my core, the core group is only going to be four, four players with a guest appearing every once in a while. yeah i think that's In terms of the world, I think we're actually going to make a fairly large world. The last couple of worlds like that I've made, ah my wider concepts have been big, but they've really only stayed in like small areas.
00:48:29
Speaker
I think this next one is going to be, I want to do things at a much grander scale and have a much larger story. It's going to play out. ice Nice. Nice. Yeah. I have to make a map. yeah yeah Ah, that's ba the bane of all our.
00:48:49
Speaker
Yeah. I would say scheduling is probably the pain of our existence. Yeah, no, that's the fuck. Yeah, no, that's that's du true. So true. so Anyone who has ever been a GM or DM out there knows scheduling is a... Bitch. Yeah. Yeah, I got that's going to be the fun thing to figure out what our new schedule dates are going to be as well. Because with my old groups, we made it simple because it's what we we started in college. um It was like, oh, yeah, every Tuesday is when we'll do it. And then Covid happened. OK, we'll add a Sunday in there as well. So Tuesdays and Sundays. And we did that for however

Managing D&D Burnout

00:49:29
Speaker
many years until until burnout basically took over me. And I'm like, I need to stop.
00:49:36
Speaker
But it was every Tuesday and Sunday for God knows how long. A couple of years. I see. And you're doing a lot more than me. I only ever did it once a week, other than this last one where I did the two campaigns in a day. Yeah. The two groups in a day. Yeah, and now with this new campaign that I have built, I think it's lengthwise, because I think we're we're only going to have like four or five players um in it. We have four confirmed and we're one that's still, it comes down to his scheduling.
00:50:08
Speaker
ah But lengthwise, I have Campaign four fully built, campaign five fully built, campaign six fully built, campaign seven fully built, and campaign eight fully built. Dang. Because it's basically, I'm dividing the campaign, I'm taking a page out of MMOs and making each campaign essentially like an expansion. So same characters, new-ish area on the world map that they go to. And that makes the whole campaign. Okay. So that's the formula that I am taking. A lot of, a lot of ah lot of playing FF14.
00:50:58
Speaker
And the MMO, it's like I want to see how much of an MMO I can implement into D and&D essentially. And so far it's working out pretty good. It's just that like the big thing and I have my boy Preston helping me with that what eventually when we get to that point is encounter building because that's you don't want things too overpowered, but you also don't want things too underpowered. And you want like a fair fight with the group, essentially. Yeah, I'm not the best with encounter building. Sometimes it's still something that something I'm growing on. Yeah, so that's definitely. um So how long have you procrastinated this? Because I can tell you this ah by now with how long with when I started the prep work and whatnot, I should have my maps done by now.
00:51:49
Speaker
but I don't. ah The only thing I've done is with my campaign, i make like the I edit music and make like anime opening and endings for my D and&D campaign. oh And I've made all of those and that's about it so far. Oh yeah, I've put it off for like three months now.
00:52:15
Speaker
um I'm a little behind. Yeah, I know. I'm a lot behind because I said like the group my group is like, yeah, we should be able to start in August. August is next week. Yeah. I haven't done anything. I told my group that I'm like, okay, I'm going to like transition here and where we're going to do like once a month. Uh, just when I'm off work, whenever, yeah but that hasn't happened yet at all. I haven't even done a one shot yet wolf plan or anything. So that part of, part of it is like still recovering from the burnout. So yeah I'm getting over it. The more, the more I start like tinkering and writing characters every once in a while,
00:52:57
Speaker
ah Is bringing me out of it and when I say tinkering writer characters, I mean like within the last couple of days I've really only started on stuff. So yeah Yeah, no dealing other with burnouts like but with me with my burnout experience. I had to God what's it? I it was basically I left D and&D and I didn't do anything D and&D talk to you. It was just like I'm stepping away from all of it and I stepped it was like I What was that? That was like last October, September, October when it happened. So it's been almost a year. Yeah. Yeah. it did Honestly, sometimes you just need that break. Yeah. No, I, I needed that. That it was nice to just kind of have that break. It was good. You didn't have to deal with dice, dice and dragons and sending people to horny jail.
00:53:53
Speaker
I have never had to send a person to horny jail. I've had to send a lot of people to horny jail. Mostly Preston. Yeah, that makes sense.
00:54:07
Speaker
ah Yeah, though but exciting it's exciting to get back into it though. Like I'm excited to get started again, especially with like, especially now that I have my new desk and I have so much more space for things. it It's like, kinda nice too, because it's like, oh, I can have my dice over here now, I can have my book here, and I don't have to fucking... worry about moving things around and have- worrying about space, my keyboard is on its- like, it's so... nice to- like, space was a big thing as well, like, fuck my old desk, no space.
00:54:44
Speaker
Like maybe I should just get a new desk then. Like my desk is not like big and I have a table beside me, but it looks like a hurricane blew through here with all the paperwork that I have all over. the Yeah. Yeah. I know the L desk as much of a pain as it was to build this thing. It's so worth it. Oh my God. L desks are great. They are like legit. I never like regular desk. I can't go back there. I ain't going back. Once you go L, you never go back. Yeah. take you This is like the one time where you got to take the L.
00:55:19
Speaker
Yeah, I like it. Well, I have a love hate relationship with my others because it's like a glass desk, so it gets very easily. Yeah, no, I find is it's wood, but it's got like a carbon fiber like. What's like fancy ass rich McGee over here. Yeah, it it was on sale. Actually, no, I don't think I don't. I honestly don't remember if it was on sale or not, but it came with its own lighting strips. So now I got it. It's fun. Yes.
00:55:50
Speaker
And it has a shelf times three, really. On the one side. Yeah, it is. It's so nice. Like my setup. now It's so much like the only downside to my setup is like whenever I stream, I have to prop my chair up all the way. Otherwise, ah because I know because like otherwise if my camera was just like where it is now and not on its stands and I have to put it on. um You see my eyes looking up in the cameras because the monitors are just higher And so I'm like, oh I have to legit prop my chair up every time I stream um Otherwise it looks weird. It's like what are you looking up at?
00:56:38
Speaker
But yeah other than that other than that it's a great desk Yeah, I have to do that just so I have a new section for D and D stuff. Yeah. Not work crap. Yeah. No, definitely. Uh, how much home brews do you use in your campaigns? Uh, monsters. I home, I homebrew and build a lot of my own like big beds and stuff. I pull very little out of like monster manuals except for like generic mobs. Yeah. No, same.
00:57:11
Speaker
um And then sometimes, like even with the generic mobs, I will change them if I feel that they're too weak. And TC's least favorite encounter was one of those situations, and I found it hilarious. What was it? ah So I put them up against, so they were in the Feywild in The Last Campaign. And this this is one of the highlight moments for me from The Last Campaign that I thought was really fun, is I put them up against Nilbox, which is just goblin spelt backwards. Okay. Uh, they have some interesting abilities, uh, that do a lot of psychic damage. And, uh, I think, uh, they were only supposed to get like a one-time use of it, but I let them, I let these creatures just like constantly use it. And I basically just like mocked them and did psychic damage the whole time. And it was like TC's direct counter for his character.
00:58:04
Speaker
so That's funny. So he yeah he had a rough rough go of it for a while and they hated that encounter, but they were just getting yelled at by like, if anybody played like Fable and had to hunt those stupid gnomes. Oh, make fun of you. It was basically that. i I did. I remember that at table three. Yeah. Yeah. It was basically that except a lot more sinister. That's hilarious. God. i want I wish that they put Fable 3 and Fable 2 for that matter on Steam. um They really should. They really should. because They have Fable Anniversary on there, but they don't have Fable 2. I like Fable 2 at least. like I know that that's the one people like more. I i like Fable 3 because it was my first Fable game, but like I know that a lot of people don't. ah Fable 3 I think was also my first game. I've played only a little bit of Fable 2. Fable 3 was still stopped here.
00:59:01
Speaker
It is good. mike you got You got Michael Fassbender. You got ah John Cleese.
00:59:11
Speaker
Love those two. You yeah got dog. You got dog. You got dog. It's not a good game unless you have dog. Yeah, it's great. It is. It it really is. ah Is there anything else you want to add on ah the D and&D front?
00:59:31
Speaker
I don't know. I could talk about D and D all day. ah the thing But if I keep talking too long, then I'll start spoiling what I want to do in my next world. And I know what do you want to do with your desk? ski what How much you wish to inflict on your players? Oh, then the next campaign. Well, i this isn't so much to spoil, but the next campaign I'm going to be a lot tougher of a DM. It'll be a lot more of a. It's good good gonna be a lot harder. There is a going to be a significant more chance of non-survival. Oh, fun. Usually pretty generous, because I don't i don't like just like see characters die unless they're put in a situation where it's like, oh yeah, they can't get out of this. Yeah. But the next campaign, like random shit might happen and you will die just out of the blue.
01:00:27
Speaker
Fair enough. Based based based based on your rules. And I know some people really hate that from DMs because they want to see the characters live. But that's the way I'm going to run this campaign, whether they like it or not. And if they don't like it, I mean, they don't have to participate. And that's fine. Yeah. um the kind of Everybody has their own unique thing. yeah With me and death and D and&D, I kind of the guy was like, if you want to die, let me know. Because like i'll I'll do my best to like throw like, you know, challenging encounters and you could fall. um And again, Preston shout out to him because he is he was my idea my DM and he's helped me with a lot of things. But we have a new house role, basically.
01:01:12
Speaker
called the he He has a house rule called the death and defeat system, where basically in the event of a TPK or a failed 1v1 in certain scenarios, they can be given the option of death or defeat, where if they choose death, then they died. But if they take defeat, they black out and wake up somewhere else. Okay. That's an interesting mechanic. And then it's like, there's like regular defeat where they black out with like, and then all of their stuff is gone essentially. Uh, or there's a fortunate defeat and they keep certain things, but they'll there's, there's like a debuff attached to it or whatever. Okay. Now that's interesting. I like that. Yeah.
01:01:55
Speaker
It's a cool house roll. There's a couple house rolls. We're implementing a fixed health system where like all monsters and players will have max health rolls. A new exhaustion system as well, where instead of six points of exhaustion, there's now a maximum of 20. And with each one gauge, you suffer a minus one roll to like all your saving throws, still skill checks and attack rolls. And you have to do a like a long rest to get rid of it. Yeah. ah Yeah, it's. ah We're doing that, and then ah but but I basically like getting my players input of like, what would you guys like to see with like rule set and shit? So they get better for everybody, which I think is like a key thing of like of D&D is like every you want everyone to have fun at the end of the day. Yeah, that is true.
01:02:52
Speaker
like It kind of gets a. into the topic of, uh, it's like picking and choosing players, which I now have to do because I have kind of a larger group and I'll only want to select like four people for this one. Yeah. My own mental health. Yeah, I know. Uh, thankfully with, with my large group, it kind of worked out of like half of the group kind of just phased out and just were like, either their schedules got too busy. I mean, one of them is like fucking learning, like neuroscience, like, like high level science and shit. It like can actually like change the world and shit with like what they're learning is like, Oh shit, you know what? Good for you. Go do that. Um, so it seems important.
01:03:38
Speaker
Yeah, ah it does. and so But like, so like, thankfully, that was kind of the case with my group. So it's like, oh, yeah, it left like a core five left. And it's like, cool, I'll take this core five. And which might be a core four, because one of them still don't know the schedule with. um And if possible, maybe I'll bring in one new person, but that'll be it. And that is a core six, which I'm fine with. yes Yeah. See, I got the issue as like, I have like an already large group and I know there's a bunch of, there's been a few other people that have expressed interest in wanting to join. So I got to balance that out and it's stressful. Yeah. Yeah. No, definitely. Well, I think with that, I think that's a good place to ah leave the topic for the day.
01:04:33
Speaker
Yeah, we'll come back to it when the book releases at some point. Yeah, yeah, book releases.

Historical Gaming Events

01:04:40
Speaker
September 17th is when the play ah rule, ah the the player's handbook releases, the DM guide releases after that, and then the monster manual releases last. Yeah, and that's the monster manual is not expected to like February 2025. Yeah, it's like the DM book is sometime later in the fall and then the monster manual next year.
01:05:04
Speaker
ah So look forward to all of those things. um We are now gonna go head into the bonus level Crazy lists great deals and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level Starting off this week in gaming history, July 29th on August 11th, here's some key events that happened in the past. On the 29th in 1985, Judge Sweet orders Universal Studios to pay Nintendo of America $1.8 million in failed copyright infringement in a lawsuit over Donkey Kong.
01:05:40

On August 1st, 1994, a federal district jury in New York awards $208 million dollars in damages to Alpex computers, finding Nintendo guilty of infringement of an early video game patent held by Alpex. And on August 8th, 2002, Microsoft announced it was working on a sequel to the Halo video game for the Xbox. That was when they announced Halo 2. What a day. Dual Needlers were great and you can't take that ever away from me. Some game birthdays that are happening as well. On the 29th, Soul Calibur IV turns 16. On the 30th, Pokรฉmon Crystal turns 23. On the 31st, Sonic Jam turns 27. On the 1st, Mario Paint turns

So that means two years from now, that joint will be 40 years old in Japan. Damn. Damn. Indeed. Uh, on the eighth dead rising turns, uh, for 28, 28. No.
01:07:25
Speaker
Yeah. Wait. Yeah. No, no, no, that's not right. Hold on. I can math. Yeah. Yes. 18. On the 10th Scott pilgrim versus the world the game turns 14 and on the 11th corona trigger turns 29

D&D Monster Rankings

01:07:49
Speaker
Next year. Hey, that means there's a possibility that next year chrono trigger sees the ports on everything There's a good chance it sees that before. Oh, that'd be great. I remember playing chrono trigger. It was great.
01:08:02
Speaker
We now move on to top five. This is a fun one for you, Wiggles. Top five D&D monsters to stick on the players to make them suffer. Okay. Finally emoji.
01:08:17
Speaker
Ah, top five. Well, nail bogs are pretty great. And I love them, especially when you tweak their ah their effects and their abilities. ah So I like that one. i did There was a homebrew one that I gave in, I think it was campaign one. It's called The Beg Man. hey What does he do? so if there is a that there There was some lore to it, but I kind of kind of just retcon that lore to the person that of the person that wrote it. So if someone has a beg of holding,
01:08:56
Speaker
I forget what the lore was because I retconned it, but, uh, the bag man will randomly appear out of the bag of holding and attack the user. Oh, so if they are just carrying a bag of holding, it lives inside of it. Oh my God. That's hilarious. Yeah. So like every, like every session I would roll a percentile die to see if the bag man comes out and I rolled it so they could hear it, but I don't know if they ever caught onto it. that's Until until I told them after the after the encounter so I roll the percentile died to see if the bag man would ever come out of a ah Bag that came out of the bag of holding that one of the characters was playing ah using That's fun So that that was a fun encounter um That they weren't super happy because I made the bag man run away as it should have and they were unhappy that they couldn't kill it
01:09:51
Speaker
I'm just picturing like a naked man with a bag over his head. and a Oh, no, it's like this like shadowy, dark, eldritch creature looking motherfucker. Oh, geez. So like ah the way I made a cabinet is like they were like sleeping at night. And like a hand like came out of the bag and tried to like drag oh a person into the bag. That's creepier than what I thought. I like my description better. It's funnier. Especially just a homeless man living in a bag. Exactly. Exactly. That's what I picture. That would be a fun encounter too. You too could have a homeless man in a bag if you just buy this bag of holding and wait.
01:10:35
Speaker
Um, there's a few creatures out there that I've heard of, uh, people using, but I've never used them myself. And like, you know, you get good ideas and stuff like off of Instagram or TikTok or Reddit or whatever.

Gaming Preferences and Recommendations

01:10:44
Speaker
Uh, there was one person I heard that they had a mimic who was in the form of a healing potion. ah That's evil. That is evil. Fucking hilarious. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. I'm so injured. Let me just drink this potion. Oh, no. Now there's why is the potion eating my face? Why is there emotion eating my face? Oh,
01:11:13
Speaker
oh I'm trying to think what other. Just to make them suffer. Uh, honestly, anything like that encounters like a mind flayer. Mind flayers are pretty deadly just in general. Yeah. And they're hard to fight, especially like if you do it kind of like the Forgotten Realms way. So just as a standard monster, mindflakes are pretty bad. Then there was one. Oh, we won from, and I remember this from an old campaign that we did in 3.5. It's called the Caves of Chaos. So if anybody's who ever suffered from the Caves of Chaos, you might remember that one of the caves, you end up fighting a Medusa.
01:12:01
Speaker
Anybody that doesn't have the blind fighting feet is gonna die. Huh, okay. Yeah, Medusas, terrible. ah Really, really, yeah you really can talk about any any monster they have to fight blind. um That's like more than just like a goblin or a kobold or something. Yeah. That having to fight blind without like any specialized feat for that is just fucking sucks. I can imagine. Yeah. And I will absolutely put my players through that. Make them suffer. They don't deserve happiness. No.
01:12:42

All right, we now move on to head to head. Two games enter, one game leaves. I just picked some games that you've been playing recently. Battlebit Remastered versus Hell Let Loose. Why would you put those two together? They're both amazing. They're both amazing. Only one can win, Wiggles. Which one wins? OK, I think Hell Let Loose wins because I play that a lot more than I play Battlebit right now. All righty. ah But Battlebit is everything that Battlefield should have been. I've heard. Just saying. um Even though it looks like a blocky pixel Roblox world, ah it's everything Battlefield should have been and is somehow mechanically just way better.
01:13:22
Speaker
Interesting. Okay. Uh, we now move on to Tony's game poll, a poll that changes every season and our poll this season. If Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add a Disney Pixar world, what would, what world would you add that hasn't been introduced before? Has to add. So what were, I don't know a ton about Kingdom Hearts other than like the core Disney worlds that are in it. Yeah. Uh, so this has really been any other, you know, Pirates of the Caribbean would be fun. We had that in Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3. Oh crap, okay. That hasn't... pig Disney Pixar 4 that hasn't been edited. Well, I guess Star Wars is Disney now. Yeah. I've been in Kingdom Hearts now. I feel like... I'll allow it. I feel like it would be... a
01:14:12
Speaker
I'm only saying this because I like Star Wars, but I don't like Disney Star Wars, but Disney would somehow do it just to make a buck. And you know what? It'll probably be fun in a Kingdom Hearts game. Yeah. I'd like to see what kind of keyblade they make out of the lightsaber. It'd be cool to see. Yeah. that That's like the one cool, the one quote the one good good thing that would come out of it at least is like the Star Wars keyblade. Yeah. Really, really any of the cut like cosmetic like things or whatever would would be fun. Donald disney yeahtotle Duck wears a Darth Vader helmet. Darth Donald. Darth Donald. Use the force. Where's the force, Sora? That hurt. out Yeah. how How did that hurt more than my doofus for its impression? Geez. You got to go really deep in the back of the throat for that.

Uh, and lastly, our guest game recommendation. If there's one game, older new wiggles that you would recommend to the audience right now, what game would that be? Ooh, I don't know. Um, that's kind of a big question for me. I play a lot of games of a lot of different genres. So, uh, you know what? If I had me and TC have been recently getting back into command and conquer games, so I would, It's something that I like first grew up, and I think if you've listened to the first podcast that it was over on, it's like my favorite game series. Yeah, we talked about a lot of that command and conquer. Yeah. Yeah. So we've recently gotten back into it. I would highly recommend it if you can get them to work properly with EA being the way they are.
