00:00:29
Speaker
and joining me this week a returning guest i guess we have not seen or heard from since 2022 i looked back prior to the start of this uh holy moly it's been a while dave they've ah They've developed, they've grown, and they are are ah ah one of the best local DJs in their city. I voted up i don't know if, it is it a vote that got you that or is it just like? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it was, um it someone nominated me randomly. I don't know who, I probably will never know. And then it goes to a vote and and then that's pretty much where I linked in and said, hey, everybody vote for me. And now I am medicine hat.
00:01:11
Speaker
Best local DJ. It's DJ Orange man. That's right. Welcome back, dude. Welcome back. Oh, it's good to be back. but to how you back Yeah, absolutely. um I enjoy yeah i'll doing the podcast with you. Hey, glad to hear

Hot Takes on Video Games

00:01:30
Speaker
it. Well, since you're returning, we have to do some hot takes, which is our brand new intro segment for our returning guests where you get to give us your hottest video game take.
00:01:43
Speaker
So I'm just going to say my hot takes are not really hot takes at all because I think a lot of people agree with me on this one. But when a franchise like a gaming franchise ah does yearly yearly releases, you don't need to buy each one. It can skip a year. It's just going to do the same shit every time.
00:02:05
Speaker
yeah Oh, my God. Yeah, that's I mean, most primarily with sports games. Yeah. Yeah, like there are some game franchise. I remember back when Assassin's Creed used to release yearly. Oh, like but my my yearly purchase is usually the NHL series. And this year, like, OK, so the past five years, they haven't done anything with the be a pro mode.
00:02:35
Speaker
And that's the one thing I always play is the be a pro. Yeah. There's no point. There's absolutely no point. Yeah. They can like do micro adjustments to like a gameplay or, or like that kind of are the graphics or whatever. But when you don't adjust something, that should be a core element to your game.
00:02:56
Speaker
It's not worth getting. yeah I think next year, because NHL 25 is already out, correct? Yes. yeah I think next year we're going to see one of those special game additions for NHL 26, sort of like they did with the the Kobe Bryant covers.
00:03:17
Speaker
Yeah, they did for NBA. I think we're going to see that next year for NHL 26 with Johnny Goudreau. Yeah, I genuinely would not be surprised if they did that. I'm surprised they didn't do it like a memorial thing. Special cover for twenty five. Yeah, like I know it was like late in the game.
00:03:37
Speaker
to release something special. But like at least they put the the graphic in the game itself. When you like you boot it up, they had the but memorial graphic for Johnny Goudreau and his mother. That's nice. That's good for them. But I think next year, I think Goudreau, I think he'll have a ah special cover. they Yeah, 100 percent cover artist or kind cover athlete for next year. Oh, absolutely. So I mean, that does mean And I know this is going to sound awful in a sense. It does mean that there won't be an NHL curse next season. but Oh, no. True. Because because like that because technically it's ah the play, he doesn't play any. mean Anyway, anyway. Yeah. But to be fair, I don't think NHL like the NHL EA series really has much of a curse. um They haven't had one in years, I think.
00:04:34
Speaker
I guess not. It's like it's mostly Madden. When you think of like there's a cover curse, it's always Madden. Yeah. And it's usually like the worst case scenario to like, like the athlete would like break a leg or something like that. yeah Well, no, because it happened again this year because I believe it's ah San Francisco's quarterback on the cover this year. And he's or is it's a San Fran player.
00:05:00
Speaker
yeah Think I don't know if it I don't think it's the core. It's a standard player. They're out for injury or they were out for injury and I'm like damn the cur strikes again So it's like you you can't escape it with these sports games and their covers which I mean, I don't even know where it went that ah Superstition started. Yeah, I don't know It would be a cool thing to cover. You know what? I'm gonna start a true crime um video game podcast and we're gonna dive into the topic of ah Cover curses and yeah, that'd be cool. Actually, but that would be actually you know what that'll be a really cool special episode to do I'm gonna put I'm gonna pin it put it on my my
00:05:41
Speaker
my uh my blackboard yeah my my my and the cork board that's what they're called cork board pin it right there right in the center of it because there's nothing else on there because i made it up pin it right there and we're gonna come back to it one day I can get like some of us sports guys on there. Like, yeah, exactly. I can get buddy. johnter in and yeah Oh, yeah. Fucking Nick Nielsen would be a great one. Oh, so I think I shot him up before we shot Nick Nielsen again um because he's now commentating for the WHL, which is like a step away from the.
00:06:15
Speaker
Yeah. He's like, he's like, he's close to commentating for the NHL at this point. Like, God damn. Yeah. Like, uh, the second he does, you know, I got to get him back on. ah Yeah. If you listen to this, uh, Hey, you want to come back on the podcast when you're super famous, please. Yeah, absolutely. I got to talk to him next time he's in town too. Yeah.
00:06:38
Speaker
ah Well, ah before we ramble on a more about these ah superstitions, I think we should get into our headline of the week, where another gaming, or a gaming legend, um when I say legend, I mean like old legends of time, ah has finally come true, where Aerith in Final Fantasy VII has been saved.
00:07:04
Speaker
That's right, yeah I

Speedruns and Game Breaking

00:07:05
Speaker
am not joking. A brand new massive speedrun skip was found for Final Fantasy VII. is called disc one skip it allows players to quote unquote save arith basically she sticks around watches her own cyclimactic infamous murder at the hands of sevaroth and then just hangs out after that and you still get to use her through the rest of the game i believe
00:07:38
Speaker
um The full like tech and how all the stuff that was done ah was done well better than I could have i could explain by 4.8 Productions on YouTube. ah So go check out that video to go see how this is done and everything involved with this. But um yeah, Aerith doesn't have to die anymore, guys.
00:08:02
Speaker
Now, granted, you're skipping everything ah past Midgar from everything between Midgar and the Temple of the Ancients. Like, basically, once you're out of Midgar, you go directly to the Temple. And it breaks the game, but obviously. And that's that's that's how you do it. That's how you save Aerith.
00:08:23
Speaker
ah that's Did you ever play the original Final Fantasy VII? No, I didn't. I had friends that did, but I i never got into those kind of games, unfortunately. That's fair. Sad childhood.
00:08:37
Speaker
yeah
00:08:42
Speaker
That's just different tastes. Everybody has a different tastes. but um it It begs to wonder like what other gaming legends could be found true if we do if ah There is that because people were like, oh you could save everything if you do these sets of steps Which absolutely were never gonna work in the first place, but now it's been found by just simply breaking the game So I wonder what else we could find by just simply breaking the game What what a what game would we break next to like find something like this for these old gaming legends?
00:09:16
Speaker
There's so many so many different like game breaking histories out there. I'm trying to even think of one. You know what? Because i even though I know there's like.
00:09:29
Speaker
It would be trying to in Mario Galaxy in the one level that you see those like shadowy figures, even though I know like like that go using the out of screen bound. Or out of bounds cameras and like screen breaking things to just view levels independently it shows that there's like they're not actually figures are just like shadowy things.
00:09:48
Speaker
Yeah, still figuring out a way to get up there as Mario or Luigi, whichever one you want to play as in Mario Galaxy would still be a cool thing to do because that would be a cool thing to see just to see if it's even possible to push the limits of human input mashing and human limits without needing robots.
00:10:13
Speaker
If you're not actively trying to break your games, are you actually playing them? You know what? That's true. that that you Never have I heard a truer statement that defines my boy Mack Ryan Mack. Shout outs to Ryan and his consistency to break video games. With that, we're going to dive into everything else that happened in these past two weeks and head on in to
00:10:37
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review.

Game Updates and Releases

00:10:47
Speaker
Starting off, some of the games that came out these past two weeks, Rivals of Aether 2 dropped to a renowned success, being one of the highest concurrent player rating games on Steam, ah Romancing Saga 2 Revenge of the Seven released, Sonic X Shadow Generations dropped, which was a fantastic entry into the Sonic franchise, a solid remaster of generations, and also the Shadow Story, absolutely. It's great, but nominal even.
00:11:18
Speaker
um Life is Strange Double Exposure released, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 returning to its roots, and Dragon Age The Valeguard released, actually securing a W! People were very unsure about this game, and the game is launched, and it's pretty solid. People do have their... some gripes, but it's not absolute doggy doo-doo, which is really what BioWare needed at this time. So good job, BioWare, for not releasing an absolute dogshit broken game.
00:11:47
Speaker
Give it up for BioWare. In the world of video game news, starting off with Bellatro, they've dropped a second Friends of Jimbo Pack, which are more collaborations for free. ah Included this time around, Cyberpunk 2077, The Binding of Isaac, Slay the Spire, and its first ever video game collaboration, Stardew Valley.
00:12:15
Speaker
so So now you can use, um i it's I think it's like a Pierre Joker in Bellatro to use. So cool, that's really cool. Ubisoft has shifted the developers who worked on the Prince of Persia, the Lost Crown around, meaning that there will not be a sequel to ah the Prince of Persia game, but allegedly some of the projects that these devs have been shifted to are a brand new Rayman game.
00:12:42
Speaker
The next Ghost Recon and the game that everybody's been waiting for ever since they announced it, however many years ago now, Beyond Good and Evil 2. Still waiting, give me a stop, still waiting.
00:12:56
Speaker
Valve made a humongous patch to Team Fortress 2 by patching scouts pants the Scout's pants colors because there was a glitch. there was like a I don't know if it was a glitch or just a thing wrong with the game where the pants wouldn't properly be switch color with depending on what team you were going to.
00:13:15
Speaker
ah They fixed it. And then the next patch they released undid that fix. So ah back to the joy board on that one, Valve. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 was banned in Kuwait because of the portrayal of Saddam Hussein in the Gulf War in the video game.
00:13:34
Speaker
So, uh, but, uh, what they did do is anybody who did buy the game and Kuwait was refunded. So they did that at least. So good on them for actually doing that. So that at least and they did. Don't piss off the wrong people. its True.
00:13:49
Speaker
ah In World of Warcraft news, and it's expensive World of Warcraft news, there's a brand new mount available in World of Warcraft, the item shop there. It's the Traitor's Gilded Brudasaur. It's a giant brontosaurus-like creature that comes with some handy features and is decorated in a golden armor themed around the game's 20th anniversary. It costs $90!
00:14:18
Speaker
Too much. For a bounce! It's available until January 6th, and this despite it costing essentially a AAA title,
00:14:30
Speaker
It is selling. So many people have bought this mount. And it's like, look, I understand that when you have like limited edition mounts like this that celebrate the game's anniversary, it's a very hot commodity within. Wow. But $90, man.
00:14:50
Speaker
That's ridiculous. That's why I don't play WoW, but I dropped hundreds and hundreds of dollars on Final Fantasy 14 now. So who am I to speak about that? i Because that's actually very hypocritical because if Final Fantasy released a $90 round, I would probably buy it. the
00:15:09
Speaker
to my dismay, but I would buy it. ah Nintendo's online beta test that 10,000 people signed up for, that they announced is like, hey, if you want to sign up, just give us this stuff and we'll get you this in this beta test of this unannounced game or project. And immediately when it dropped, it went live, it was it was leaked. um It's apparently from what I remember of this, because Nintendo has been issuing DMCAs, uh, regarding game footage, or I think even people talking about it in like great details. So I'll keep it brief. It's like a Minecraft thing. It's a survival.
00:15:52
Speaker
cube it's It's a survival multiplayer thing. Survival and MMO in like a pixel-like world. That's all I really know. And that's just what I've seen from all the other reports. So we'll go with that. And I don't know if it's for an unique game or if it's for just a project to test like and MMO server stuff or what they're really doing with it. It's bo ah more or less just like a weird beta test for something.
00:16:21
Speaker
don't really know what. like the and We don't know what the end goal of this is. So we'll have to wait and see what this leads to.

Gaming Industry and Politics

00:16:30
Speaker
21 workers at 2K Games, Petaluma, California. Motion cap, the Petaluma.
00:16:38
Speaker
21 workers at 2K Games Petaluma, California, Motion Capture Studio, filed for a union election on and ah earlier this week. um The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and now announced in a news release the group is looking forward to the National Labor Relations Board to schedule an election after 2K Management failed to a respond to a request for voluntary recognition.
00:17:02
Speaker
So let's hope they get that because there's too many layoffs in the gaming industry. These are a good way to save that. And on top of that, that's a pretty big studio, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, two cases. Like, well, just just in general, like the motion capture studio just that covers, I'm pretty sure that covers NBA, that covers quite a few of their properties. So.
00:17:30
Speaker
that's that's That could be scary. you know you know You know what? I think what would be fun to work as a motion capture for for a game specifically would be a WWE wwe game. because you're doing all the fucking stunts that the WWE people do. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That would be that would be fun to do. Obviously, it's like you're also it would be a bit tough because you have to be like a stunt person to even attempt half of that shit. Oh, yeah. And that's why they hire like indie wrestlers to come in and do that for. Oh, that's even better. Oh, that's cool. Yeah, that's cool. That's cool. In politics news, because obviously
00:18:08
Speaker
With the election, when you're listening to this, the U.S. election is the day this releases is tomorrow. um Go vote, by the way, America. but Go go vote. Just go vote. I don't care who you vote for. Go vote. That's all I'll say. I'll bitch about who who wins.
00:18:26
Speaker
um and what they decide to do in your guys's country if regardless i i i just go vote uh anyway with the election being this close uh bernie sanders was on twitch with pokemane valkyrie and psychudo as his vtuber model um Just a stream, but this also led to Bernie Sanders learning about Vtubers and I don't even I didn't watch the clip of that because I I i Feels like teaching a dog new tricks. and It's like it's it's just Why What like why
00:19:08
Speaker
Also on um streaming on Twitch, Tim Walls played Crazy Taxi on Twitch too, um which is very fitting because for those who don't know, there is a mod that will add Tim Walls or make Tim Walls the driver of Crazy Taxi.
00:19:24
Speaker
um Because back when he was I believe first announced for his vice presidency nomination He talked about how he would used to play on the Dreamcast ah and Crazy Taxi was one of the games um and He really likes Crazy Taxi Who doesn't know? I mean true Crazy Taxi is a lot of fun and you're listening to the like that I got like just memories of that soundtrack too man. I like bad religion and the offspring top. Yeah, that's why. Yeah, the offspring. I'm like, oh, God, what's the internally right there? but I'm like, I'm panicking like, oh, God, I can't remember what the band is called. I got you. I got that's that. That's why we have. That's why we have DJ Orange Band here to help us with that, folks. Oh, yeah.
00:20:16
Speaker
Uh, yeah, but uh, yeah fucking love crazy taxi and uh, I think he had I'm pretty sure he had fun I don't remember he was streaming with aoc c I think As well. It wasn't just him. It was with aoc because i'm not too sure but she has she she has the twitch experience because she's played among us with Okay other politics I think the weirdest thing of like I'm gonna say this of all the politicians who have done like proper live streams the weirdest one I have ever I ever saw was back when it was the Among Us hype was AOC playing Among Us with Jagmeet Singh and I'm just like I'm sorry what?
00:20:59
Speaker
ah ah what um world we were living in a what um What a world. what what you think they You think we'll ever see a politician play Dark Souls at this point? Eventually. Eventually.
00:21:15
Speaker
yeah what what you What if whoever wins the election before they're allowed to make any decisions in office, they have to beat Elden Ring? That'll be their inauguration party.
00:21:31
Speaker
You're not allowed to actually enter the White House until Elden Ring is beaten. Good luck. And yeah, I feel like that's how elections should actually be ah be done is you have to yeah is it's like it's not actually an election anymore. It's whoever can beat Elden Ring the fastest.
00:21:51
Speaker
I concur. I agree. Make it happen. Excellent. Let's make it happen. All world leaders, please submit to my will. And that is my will. Uh, moving on. Monster Hunter wilds open beta is going on right now with the data that you play in beta in the beta as well. It will be fully transferable into the full game, but you can now play the open beta. Uh, let us know how it is.
00:22:17
Speaker
um Game designer Masahiro Sakurai. He has finished his two and a half year YouTube journey. He uploaded his 260th video to his channel, Masahiro Sakurai on Creative Games. He used the send off to also confirm that he is working has been working on a brand new unannounced game since 2022. I wonder what this video game could be.
00:22:48
Speaker
Could it be Smash Bros. for the Switch 2? Possibly. Or if it's not that, if it's not that, it's something else entirely good for Sakurai. But people are suspecting that he has been working on the brand new Smash Bros. game for the past two years now. So we'll have to wait and see. ah Because obviously we won't know until the Switch 2 is announced.

Announcements and Releases

00:23:15
Speaker
Vampire Survivors released the Ode to Castlevania DLC, adding 20 plus characters to the roguelike, 40 brand new weapons, 30 new music tracks, and the largest map Vampire Survivors has ever seen. If you like Castlevania and you like Vampire Survivors, and you should probably go check out that DLC.
00:23:35
Speaker
Fields of Mystery will be getting its first major update on November 18th, adding romance to the game finally, raising the heart cap from four to six and adding events for Fields of Mystery as dainable, non-playable characters. ah In remake news, Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered came out ah kind of to everybody's surprise, um reviving these old, I believe it was on to 360, I don't know if it was exclusive to 360, but reviving this old Xbox game.
00:24:04
Speaker
ah In Minecraft news in the latest Bedrock Edition change log, Mojang said its ability to support VR slash MR devices has come to an end and it will be dropped after a final update in March 2025, meaning we will not be able to play Minecraft in VR for much longer. Which honestly, Minecraft VR sounds like the most headache inducing thing I could imagine.
00:24:32
Speaker
The ah sound sounds like it. I think it would actually like imagine if a creeper snuck up on you in VR. No, just no. No, I got enough troubles with my dog. So like you must imagine like ah you must probably get hell of a vertigo vertigo if you like jump off like a cliff and it's like going wrong. Like that's like serious. Like i probably I would probably get vertigo from that shit. Oh, my God. No doubt.
00:25:01
Speaker
um In award show news, Ben Starr, the voice of Clive Rossfield in Final Fantasy 16 and Prometheus in Hades 2, will be hosting the 42nd Golden Joysticks November 21st. Which is good for him. Love Ben Starr, but what an icon.
00:25:18
Speaker
ah element ring shout out the iron tree stream air a ri I think that's how you pronounce it, or it's Aynron. Good for them. I would never even attempt that. I wanted to refund my copy of Elden Ring, but I played three hours of it, so I couldn't.
00:25:50
Speaker
Big sad. the Cult of the Lamb has announced its next project. And this is one of the coolest things I have seen. I mean, a lot of the things Cult of the Lamb does is absolutely iconic because they gave us an update strictly for sex. They gave us the sex update and like, it's just like, woo, what else are they going to do? Well, they are releasing a metal EP releasing soon, ah called Cult of the Land, Hymns of the Unholy. The vulgar digital Bassist Monster-inlaced records have come together to produce an EP that will consist of six tracks featuring appearances from While She Sleeps, Trivium, and Malevolence alongside a few other metal stars. The album itself has been written, arranged, and produced by Sam George of Pickup Goliath.
00:26:47
Speaker
And I mean, if you're a metal if you're a fan of metal music, I think this is going to be a really cool album. That's definitely something I'm going to look into. Yeah, absolutely. Bethesda and Amazon announced that they are plowing ahead with follow up season two and shooting for the show. It starts later this month, which is good. Follow up received fantastic reviews. Unlike Amazon's most recent, um, show video game show, uh, Yakuza like a dragon.
00:27:20
Speaker
ah i I have so many bad reviews of it. I'm like, oh no, how could they ruin my boy? Turns out they went with an entirely exclusive story and it doesn't really work with Yakuza because it's such a sad story that you you can't really stray from it, in my opinion.
00:27:42
Speaker
I'll be watching it soon because i I want to, you know, watch it for myself before I make up my own judgment. But looking at other reviews, I'm like, oh, no. Oh, hi. In revival game news. And also ah we use because, oh, boy, this shakes up the Wii U a lot.
00:28:06
Speaker
Xenoblade Chronicles X Deluxe Edition was announced for the Nintendo Switch, bringing the formerly exclusive Wii U game to the Switch hardware with additional story content. The game comes out next year on March 20th, leaving only a handful of Nintendo exclusives on the Wii U.
00:28:31
Speaker
Those games that we know of that are basically exclusive are Star Fox Zero, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD, and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.
00:28:43
Speaker
Everything else, Mario sports games don't count because we got essentially a Mario sport game for each of the core sports on the Switch, so the Wii U sports selection do not count. um And everything else I've seen in the list got ported eventually, so this is roughly like all that's left.
00:29:03
Speaker
are those four games before the Wii U is entirely irrelevant aside from being like a really good way to play DS games um because of its DS emulator that it had. But again, the Wii U doesn't have online support unless you jailbreak it, so...
00:29:24
Speaker
Yeah, RIP. RIP Wii U. Still with Nintendo, Nintendo launched the brand new Nintendo Music app for Nintendo Switch Online members. and This app behaves a lot like Spotify and is exclusively Nintendo Music. It's going to be updated I think like every every week they'll be adding like a new game to the music collection. um They just added Super Mario Bros. Wonder along with like the entire base roster of music that it has and there's a lot there um with more to come. So it's basically and it features a
00:30:00
Speaker
it It features a feature called the extend feature. ah It was a bad choice of words. I'm like fuck it. We're gonna stick with it ah This the extended feature allows you to extend the music that you're listening to by 15 minutes to possibly an hour So if you have those animal crossing, if you want those animal crossing and chill vibes, you absolutely can give it to yourself for like, get, make that vibe for you. Um, for like an entire day, if you wanted, where you're just listening to the same track over and over on a 60 minute loop over and over and over again, which I mean, Hey, some people are like that. Uh, I'm not here to judge.
00:30:45
Speaker
it out loud. I'm not here to judge out loud. I'll judge you with silence though. Oh, problem I have of that is it just, it's yet another app that we gotta Worry about if you know what I mean. Oh, yeah, absolutely because I did see a tweet and a blue sky or A bleat is what they're calling him. I don't I don't know. We'll figure out how to um But the people saying oh boy, I think I think the end of the tender music on YouTube is coming is getting closer
00:31:18
Speaker
See, I'm the kind of guy that likes his music in two places. Obviously, all my DJ music in one place and then everything on Spotify. Yeah, it's how I like it. Yeah, it's if you have Spotify or you have Apple Music. That's how it goes now. And it's like you barely like it. It's going to be And you just seem to see what this will do for Nintendo Music on YouTube still. ah But we'll see where it go. I think if it ever went free, absolutely it all their stuff on YouTube gets fucked. Yeah. Like, unless it's like officially released to buy Nintendo themselves, it absolutely gets fucked.
00:32:03
Speaker
But we'll just have to wait and see if they're in PlayStation Plus news the free games for November were revealed as Ghostwire Tokyo Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 and a brand new game Death Note Killer Within based off of the popular anime series Death Note This is a new social deduction game where one player is Kira One player is your detective and the rest are either investigators or supporters of Kira And it's it's it's like Among Us, but Death Note. So that's that's what... that's what's its It's a brand new game. They're putting it free on that. So maybe I'll go check it out and play Death Note Demogus.
00:32:53

Which is a big deal because one of the achievements is to be, ah oh god, Legend of the Prairie King um without dying once. Which is very hard to do.
00:34:22
Speaker
ah But good for him, and it shows us that we shouldn't give up hope on getting those really hard achievements, no matter how hard or stupid they may be.
00:34:33
Speaker
gamemo but this like have a dev of that game can do like take him him a while to do it himself Does he? How hard it is? I mean, he was also developing, developing the game. He is the only developer for that game. Well, yeah, exactly. I'm sure he doesn't have much time to, to play it otherwise. Otherwise he might've had it done much sooner, but he's like, I gotta to get updates.
00:35:00
Speaker

00:39:21
Speaker
Uh, you're probably one of the lucky few as Bernice, one of the latest, one of the newest characters added to zenless zone zero infected the internet with her catchy tune and dance moves about snacks and mock tales of all things. Uh,
00:39:41
Speaker
I don't know. ah Have you seen that on your tech talk feed at all? I don't think I have. I probably will now save yourself. Save yourself. Just save yourself. OK, I'll try. The tech talks a bit of a.
00:39:58
Speaker

In Pokemon TCG news, Searching Sparks releases November 8th and Pokemon TCG Pocket is out now. You can start collecting digital Pokemon cards now through your phone, battling with a new condensed format where you don't lose if you draw all your cards. I learned that ah by accidentally decking out, but it's like, oh, you just don't draw a card. You can still play. And then I won the match.
00:40:42
Speaker
ah because I didn't know if there was no deck out which is really nice ah the game is I wouldn't really call it a game it's more of like ah the so a service service is cool if you like Pokemon cards and you like for two free pulls a day this is for you And also, there's now a Pokรฉmon automated retail vending machine, and fans have been seeing them pop up in stores near them in various parts throughout North America. Specifically, machines are rolling out in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Utah, and Washington. So if you see a Pokรฉmon vending machine,
00:41:27
Speaker
Uh, buy something cool. Yeah, I could see. OK, just because it's funny. I just imagine strolling down Las Vegas. One of the hotels in the casino. He just found one of those Pokemon machines. The pokeball boy, the Pokemon card vending machine right next to the cigarettes. Wow. Hey, because let's be real, that's how they would do it. and

Speaker
Oh, I was, I guess. Hey, I think. Oh, and I can't think of anything. All right. Well, I think that's the perfect time for us to now dive into what man I got something. OK, sorry. yeah Going back to the Call of Duty Black Ops six. Yeah. And wait.
00:43:09
Speaker
Now, obviously, that's going to be like within the campaign like missions. Yes. Who plays that still? The campaign. Yeah. I mean, like here's what I will say. Here's what I will say, because the the Call of Duty multiplayer experience has never appealed to me because I was always I was always the Halo kid. Like, OK, I when I was playing shooters, I much preferred Halo's PvP over Call of Duty. they Yeah.
00:43:39
Speaker
I was much better at it as well, which is why. ah And I thought that i mean in me personally, I think one of the best stories in Call of Duty ever is the original Black Ops campaign. OK, because I myself, I skipped the campaign. I go straight to the online multiplayer.
00:44:01
Speaker
Uh, hardcore free for all. So I don't have to talk to anyone. You don't have to talk to anyone until the lobby gets there and people start slurring. Yeah. So, but I, if there's still a market out there for the, uh, offline campaign, then I guess, Hey, make sense. Yeah. I think of like all the call of duty games that come out. I think black ops is the only one that should really continue a campaign and realistically there.
00:44:32
Speaker
Yeah. Well, with that now, it's now time for us to take a look ahead and see all the games that are coming out within the next two weeks. Here's what should be on your radar from November 4th to 15th. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar. Compared to a couple other weeks, there's not too much. It's actually a slower week now that we're out of the massive fall season.
00:45:01
Speaker
ah With the games coming out, starting off on the 4th, Crossed Wires and Nazar come out for the PC. On the 5th, Metal Slug Tactics finally releases, so we don't have to see it at those game shows anymore for everything! 00:46:54
Speaker
about the next two weeks. ah As for the big games coming out, starting with a game that we've seen essentially every gaming showcase, whether as a trailer or they talk about it briefly, Metal Slug Tactics. It's finally coming out so we can stop looking at this game. like i Like, I'm sorry. Like, I'm sure that there are people out there who are excited for this. I'm not. I'm not one of them. I'm sorry. I don't want to see this game anymore.
00:47:27
Speaker
That's how I feel. Maybe years ago. Maybe. Yeah, baby. ah Play a coaster, too. If you like playing a coaster, file it's sequel coming to next gen consoles. Nice. Yeah, that's up my alley. I shut off my brain and just design things.
00:47:46
Speaker
Yes, absolutely. Design a theme park, which is honestly it's fun. I like I mean, it's like it's it's why I love the ah original roller coaster tycoon games. Yeah, exactly. ah And that soundtrack, that soundtrack is so amazing. I like the OG roller coaster tycoon. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's it's so soothing.
00:48:09
Speaker
I don't know. the like What I mostly hear is just the the the the carousel music over and over and over again. I can't really say it's ah soothing to me when it's just the the daoo da and and da da ah da a The big games, though, on the seventh Mario and Luigi brother ship newest entry in the Mario and Luigi franchise. So that's really exciting and people are very much excited for this game. ah I would get it if I have played more of the Mario and Luigi games, but I really never did. So I will be skipping it for now.
00:48:55
Speaker
Uh, for Rhythm Gamers, Tiger Note oxygen Rhythm Festival. This game actually isn't new. Uh, this is actually, uh, it's just finally coming to everything else. Cause this for a long time has been a Switch exclusive. Um, and now it's finally coming out on everything else. Uh, the eighth, Slitterhead. This is from the ah original director of Silent Hill, I believe. Uh, this is their brand new game or his brand new game, Slitterhead.
00:49:26
Speaker
Um, so be sure to check that one out. Uh, obviously farming simulator, 25 woo about damn time. Let's go. We're growing corn. Yeah. Corn.
00:49:43
Speaker
So we got that. Someone named my household. I was actually excited about that. so Oh, hell yeah. Let's go. It also Tejas Forever. This is sort of like a sequel to Tetris Effect from what I'm remembering.
00:50:00
Speaker
Let me double check because I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is like a very similar to Tetris. Oh, no, no, this is sorry. Tetris forever. This is the the collection of Tetris games. Oh, OK. This is the collection of all those old Tetris games that was shown to that one because i'm I'm the Tetris guy. I love Tetris.
00:50:25
Speaker
Yes, it's it's a a bunch of old Tetris ports all in one game. And it has multiplayer. Ooh, even better. Excellent.
00:50:35
Speaker
And of course, ah for RPG fans, Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D remake. Game looks visually stunning with the HD 2D style, and it's such a classic RPG in Dragon Quest 3 that it's i'm I'm excited, I would play it if, i you know, I had more time. But fuck, Dragon Quest games are so long.
00:51:02
Speaker
They are some of the longest RPGs out there. And of course, if you actually give a shit, LEGO Horizon Adventures. Honestly, this does it doesn't look good. its why are they why they Why are they recapping essentially the first LEGO Horizon game in LEGO? like I don't know who this is for. I really don't. like It's games like this that make you want to start a petition and let certain game franchises die. Because the more of this I see and the more shift that I've seen Horizon do, I just, you know what? I'm going to say it right now. Brand new hot take. The Horizon franchise needs to stop.
00:51:49
Speaker
It needs to stop. End it. It's not good. her Horizon was never good. That's my hot take. You know what? That's my hot take. Horizon was never good. We've all been blinded by the media, by the game developers, by the gamers. We've been blinded about robotic dinosaurs. Robotic dinosaurs are cool, but Horizon's not. There.
00:52:18
Speaker
Fuck, I'm sorry. That was a fuck put that on on paper. Bottom line. Seal it. Let's do it. Well, ah with that, those are all the games coming out then within the next two weeks. And with that, it's time for us to dive into our main focus. Here's what we're talking about this week in the game. Wow.
00:52:41
Speaker
Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge.
00:52:54
Speaker
It's starting off ah because when I messaged Mr. DJ Orange Man here and said, yo, what do you want to talk about? He's like, I really don't know. It's been hard for me to like play video games recently. I'm like, oh, perfect. That's a great way for us to always talk about a classic topic that we've talked about many times here, but always varies from person to person. And also just with like the years that go by with this is the gate, your life and video game balance.
00:53:25
Speaker
So what, what, how how is your game life balance looking right now? Uh, terrible. ah Straight off the bat, like, um, most of the time when I can actually sit down and do like play games, like video games is,
00:53:42
Speaker
like at the dead of midnight and maybe for an hour. And at that point I'm all already tired from like my day. And so I maybe get like, like I said, like an hour in and and I'm like, I'm done. I'm tired. I'm too tired for this. So it's hard.
00:54:03
Speaker
Damn. Yeah, no, I, I, I would say I feel that sometimes, but like, I'm very much a, I'm very much just like, well, if I'm not doing something I'm supposed to be doing, I'm playing video games. Yeah. So yeah but it's a very, I have a very different game life balance where I'm like, do I want to go do life stuff or game stuff?
00:54:26
Speaker
And nine out of 10 times I picked the game stuff because I introverted as fuck. and like My biggest problem is like, even when I could easily resort to playing games, I'm just like staring at the internet and like doing nothing.
00:54:41
Speaker
Like, yeah, I found myself doing that a couple times, too, which is weird. I'm just I guess do scrolling is the term for it now. Yeah. Mindlessly scrolling, going down whatever video rabbit hole I'm going down. Usually something to be related now, which is weird because it's like a video gets recommended. It's like, oh, what did this Vtuber say? Oh, look at that Vtuber's assets.
00:55:10
Speaker
And let's keep going down there. I think part of the problem is it's it's between all the adulting stuff and it's just um The, I got not to use mental, uh, uh, I don't know how to put it, but like mental illness into it, but having like ADHD doesn't help matters where like I just latch on to one thing and that's obviously doom scrolling or, you know, when I could apply my, myself to maybe picking up video game and actually doing something once in a while.
00:55:49
Speaker
Yeah. If that makes sense. Yeah, no, absolutely. Mental, the state of your mental health is absolutely another huge factor that could go into like how your time is spent in a day of like, lifing or non-lifing honestly.
00:56:06
Speaker
Which, ah yeah, that's, ah I feel you there. That one, that one I can say I do feel you you're there because it's just, Cause it's just like, man, I don't feel that good. Let's try to play video games. Oh, what's this? It's shiny. And it's just like, yeah where did the time go? Oh, it's now five o'clock. Shit. Yeah. So how much time do you try to give yourself for stuff? Like what, what like,
00:56:36
Speaker
And like, I guess a percentage base, would you say you try to give yourself for all of the activities that you do? like your So like my day nowadays um kind of looks like. So with school, i'm I'm back in school, um I got like during my weekdays, I go to school um from like nine o'clock to four twenty.
00:57:03
Speaker
Nice. Yeah. Right. oh For 20. Uh, but on like Tuesdays and Thursdays, I got like one class and that's wide open, but then I got to worry about like the tiger games, which I, I work. Um, and that's not really much like time to worry about there. Yeah. But also I got,
00:57:31
Speaker
that inability to do things in between because I have to, you know, it's like, oh, well, I have like ah so it's like, oh, I don't not doing it. It's like, oh, I'm home. but I got to go do this thing in like three hours from now. I'm not going to do anything. Yeah. And that's exactly the problem I face. But also worry about homework and all that stuff. You know, it's hard to balance out that.
00:57:58
Speaker
um that that want to play games once in a while uh because it's always like the stress of oh i got stuff going on why i can't like not that day it's a waste of time but it feels like you're wasting your time but at the same time you're wasting your time not doing anything so it's like a vicious circle you know what i mean it's a circle of wasting time that is not though and we're not wasting time productively
00:58:28
Speaker
Yeah, that's ah that's the perfect way to put it. you know man Who would have thought that like we'd have to be productive. We get to a point in our lives where it's like, man, I want to waste time, but I'm not being productive at wasting my own time. Yeah. i yeah game The way I look at it is playing games, video games is a form of stress release. It should be, but yeah you don't know Yeah, I absolutely understand what you mean. And also the price of games kind of plays a factor in that deal with yeah in Canada, a new shiny triple A title game is.
00:59:12
Speaker
80, 90 bucks. Yeah. i get in they got All your special editions, which ah if you don't buy the special edition, you miss out on like a whole lot of stuff like your season passes and so on and so forth. You know, I remember a time when games were like around that like 55 bucks area. And you got everything.
00:59:37
Speaker
yeah you had to You had to grind to unlock everything, but at least you got everything. Yeah, and then Fortnite came along and ruined everything. yeah I blame the downfall of video games on Fortnite.
00:59:49
Speaker
fair But yeah the bad habits that video games have nowadays is all Fortnite's fault. oh yeah yeah That is a fact. yeah Either Fortnite or EA.
01:00:01
Speaker
I mean, EA, we also EA was doing this shit like back when everything was still like pre Fortnite still like yeah because they did. They became the butt end of jokes for like a long time way before Fortnite. True. But like between trying to pay for like life stuff. Hey, there's not a means to buy games like we used to anymore.
01:00:29
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. You're kind of stuck with like one per like for those who like are tight with their money, it's like maybe one purchase in a blue moon. Yeah. ah Which can be rough, especially if the game that comes out is also a piece of doggy doo doo. Yeah. I think the price will ever go down for these someday. I hope so. But I think I think the toothpaste is out of the the ah tube, unfortunately. You know what I mean? The toothpaste is out of the tube. I repeat, the toothpaste is out of the tube. but Where's it going? Down the sink! That's exactly right. It's a waste of toothpaste!
01:01:11
Speaker
But yeah, no, eats that's one of those things where ah growing costs, you're just going to keep going up. Yeah, especially especially with ah with us being like with us being again, Canadian, the price difference between this and the U.S., even though it like con converts to the same price, it's still like a 20 dollar gap. I mean, i I mean, the best example I can now use now is the PlayStation 5 Pro is a thousand dollars Canadian.
01:01:41
Speaker
That's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I remember a time, I know I'm sounding old here, but when we were- We're all old here, man. We're all old here. We were buying game systems, like consoles for like maybe $300. Yeah.
01:02:00
Speaker
big the good days, the good old days. I mean, you can still feel those good days, but you're buying the Nintendo console. So unless you're down to only play first party Nintendo games and nothing else. So that way it doesn't feel like it's absolute garbage. That's what you're fine. But like, you want to play anything else that isn't that though ah it better be like a nice light indie indie game.
01:02:29
Speaker
Because if it's not, it ain't gonna run well on the Switch. Yeah. Which is weird that it's like Nintendo has put such work into like developing the next-gen console that came out before everything else. And it's just like, oh yeah, the PlayStation and Xbox just like opted even more. And Nintendo is kind of just playing catch up now until their new console releases. Yeah. When it comes to that stuff, which is weird to think despite them releasing their next-gen console first.
01:03:01
Speaker
It's crazy. yeah um Back to the price of games, how much roughly do you think you spend a year on video games? ah Not a lot anymore. um Like I said, I cut ah like one of my yearly purchases that was the NHL EA series this year. ah like I was going to buy Call of Duty, but the new Black Ops. But yeah, even that I'm like, I can't wait. I can't. I cannot financially recover from it. Oh, God. Yeah. i mean
01:03:43
Speaker
I feel I feel you there I think that like the amount of like triple-a games I've spent money on maybe a handful and I've bought I've bought like of the games I've purchased are a lot more indie based where they're much cheaper it's like cool I could buy a bunch of these and get just as much enjoyment out of them as if I was playing a triple-a game Which is why I think the indie game scene has thrived so much because it's like, oh, we don't have to make our games super expensive and, uh, we'll get way more sales, which yeah, that's how, that's, that's the model. That's how you do it this year. I think I've only bought two games. Really? Wow. I have one, uh,
01:04:27
Speaker
Data E, what is it? 2K, 24, 25. I can't remember what year they're on now, but that one, and I got that one on sale, and I bought the new Monster Jam game, and that's it. Wow. Well, we'll get into more more of that with our second topic when we get there eventually, but holy fuck. Yeah.
01:04:53
Speaker
I can say this, mine is but my list much higher than two. yeah ah How much how much you think the average gamer should spend on video games in a year?
01:05:06
Speaker
What do you think like um a good at? What do you think? How much how much should we spend in a year? Not as much as we should. And we are. it out What would you say the happy, the happy number is like for how many how much we should spend on video games? Oh, God. um
01:05:27
Speaker
that's ah and That's a tough one because if like for myself, I've already hit my cap with just two games. but um see If it was over times, um, like where we're not spending as much on one game, I could say like 200 a year. But yeah, I was going to say, but I was going to say between two to 300 a year would probably like the, but the most like ideal if triple A titles were to go miraculously somehow back down to like $60. Yeah.
01:06:10
Speaker
And it makes it so much easier. Yeah, because then you're playing like four or five big releases or a couple of big releases and like a lot more indies. And yeah, you're it's like I would say that's a pretty good money well spent on it. Oh, exactly. Yeah.
01:06:30
Speaker
I think that's a good average for the average game. Obviously, there are going to be people who spend way more, like me, who probably has spent a lot of money on video games. I can say just on retro games alone, I have spent $1,000 alone this year on my GameCube collection.
01:06:48
Speaker
yeah And granted, I am now at like a little more than half of the GameCube collection owned. So like it's paid off. and Yeah. And that's a totally different market. Yeah. right right pro gaming It's like.
01:07:05
Speaker
Oh, yeah let's say you bust out that old console that still works. You don't have to send it in for repairs. Or if you do, you go to your local game shop and like, oh yeah, we can easily fix this or refurbish it for you. Or you can just get a new one. Because old consoles are cheap. That's like, I find it funny, there's like the old consoles, unless it's like a limited edition one, are cheap, are like pretty cheap. And they they still cost about like what they cost years ago. Maybe like a slight increase, but it's not by much.
01:07:33
Speaker
Yeah, but then all the games that you want to play for it. Yeah, that's the funny balance. How that worked out is like the consoles are cheap, but the games, especially some of those like hard to find games. Oh, man. But even if you want to play like a po any Pokemon game, any Pokemon game from the past, that isn't a spinoff. It's over 100 bucks. Oh, yeah.
01:08:00
Speaker
But I think that's where, you know, considering if you're not but like the difference between like collecting those those retro games to buying current games is like the total difference here because you're going to expect those prices anyways, right? You would think. Yeah. Come here, think at least. Yeah.
01:08:26
Speaker
Like you got you go into like, and this is like for any kind of collection. Like I'm big into vinyl collecting right now. Oh yeah. And then when when you're looking at like, make condition, original press kind of thing, you're going to expect a major price to it. So um like with with retro games, where you find a hard to find game, you're going to expect a price to it. So.
01:08:52
Speaker
Yeah, it's I mean, oh, God, actually, it reminds me of like, what is my most expensive game that I own? Do you know because you talked about vinyl, do you know what your most like valuable vinyl record is? Like your most expensive slash like rarest one that you have? Yes. I mean, it's on a forty five seven inch. Have you know anything about like the format of vinyl? OK.
01:09:21
Speaker
um I got my mint condition. I can't remember what song it is, but original press and $150.
01:09:34
Speaker
Wow. What a. yeah That is, ah that's, ah that's pretty good. That's, ah that's, that's honestly $150. That's not bad for like being the most expensive. they they are ah or The fun part about that is I got it completely free because it was in my mom's collection.
01:09:53
Speaker
Oh, let's go. The best kind of addition. Yeah. um So for me, my most expensive game in my collection is Pokemon XD, Gale of Darkness, ah which it roughly goes for.
01:10:16
Speaker
Uh, where, what is the baby? She'd be new one 90. Okay. That is my most expensive and it's not my rarest. My rarest is Digimon rumble arena too. Oh my God. which Also, which complete. I don't think I have it complete.
01:10:35
Speaker
uh or is it complete it roughly goes for like 160 which i bought that i got i got i was lucky to get that one for like only 110 so i i paid under for what i got so i'll take it with yeah fair when i got that one that is now my rarest game which I'm surprised, because my old rarest game was, I think it was F-Zero. The F-Zero GameCube game. And it was that for a while. And then I found that one last month. I found Rumble Arena 2. And I'm like, oh, damn. I'm like, I got to get it. Because like, I'm on a Digimon fix. It was kind of like perfect timing because I was on a Digimon fix and everything. It's like, oh, yeah, this is ah this is a sign.
01:11:19
Speaker
yeah but But ah yeah. ah anything else you want to add to gay life balance ah before we switch to our second topic. All I'm gonna say is um just try to find time for yourself in that kind of means because if you stress yourself out with just the adulting thing all the time, yeah you're you're gonna burn out, you're gonna you know lose your head and it's important to get time to do whatever you love to do to de-stress, if you know what I mean.
01:11:56
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Play more games, people. That's what we're saying. That's right. um Quit your job and play video. That's so right.
01:12:07
Speaker
yeah Actually, you know what? Yeah, I'm going to be assertive. You know why? Because I'm I'm a brave boy. I'm I'm not scared. go Quit your job. Quit your job. Play video games.
01:12:20
Speaker
There it is. um Play video games on the internet, quit your job. ah That should be Ariana Grande's new song. I don't know. um moving a moving let's ah Let's jump into our second topic of the day.
01:12:36
Speaker
This is your public service reminder that most FPS shooters are in a three-dimensional space. So you have to look up once in a while, because that camper that you were complaining about has been standing on the same light standard the whole time, because you refuse to look up. You're letting your whole team down.
01:12:54
Speaker
the Which is a look back at the games that we played in 2020 for not a full look back. At least for me, it's not a full look back because compared to Brandon here who has played two. So OK, so you purchased two games. Yeah, I purchased two games. I play a lot more than that. OK, how many games you think you've how many games you think you've played this year? So far, like I said, I played the day to day game.
01:13:26
Speaker
Yeah. i The new monster jam game. I'll fire up ah the the previous um Call of Duty. Gotcha. Yeah, remember what yeah was I What was the previous one? Cold War? Black Ops Cold War? I think so. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll fire that one up every so often. Do hardcore death match.
01:13:50
Speaker
ah fire pro Fire Pro Wrestling, I'll fire up quite ah quite often. World. Fire Pro Wrestling World, I think it's called. okay i'll And just do their their their promoter mode or whatever it's called. I just grind at that, because I love i love that kind of stuff, like just booking matches and whatnot. Other than that, I think that might be it. There's probably some other stuff that I'll play once in a while, but
01:14:22
Speaker
That's, that's pretty much the core rate. You're looking at like 10 day, like between five to 10 games roughly this year. Yeah. Yeah. So that's, uh, well, uh, I think by never, um, easily blows your number out of the water. I would tell that I am, uh, currently at this point in time, I have sitting at 108 video games.
01:14:48
Speaker
Oh my goodness. but Yeah. Yeah. Um, so, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, oh boy. Whoa. Uh, what's, what's, well, you clearly have the smaller numbers. Let's talk about what you played. Um, a lot of, a lot of sports, a lot of wrestling and call of duty. the Yeah. And, uh, monster gypsum, monster trucks too.
01:15:12
Speaker
yeah Yeah. I want to talk to you more about that one because like I think I've I've seen stuff for is this like the this is the new Monster Jam game. Yeah. Yeah. Monster Jam showdown. yeah It came out this year, right? It did come out this year. It came out like last month, I think.
01:15:30
Speaker
What walk me through this game? What's the what's the what? Because I've never really played any like monster truck specific games. So walk me through it. What's the game like? How does it play? Where are the main modes? Is there a story mode with this? It's not really a story mode. It's more of like a career mode. um It's like half simulation, half arcade. So, OK, the trucks feel a little floaty in itself. You're bouncing all over the place.
01:15:57
Speaker
um Yeah, it's your basically your typical racer kind of game, like for with monster trucks. um The career mode is a bit of a grind. I think it takes about seven hours to get through. What's that? Seven hours, seven hours. Seven hours is nothing. think Yeah, yeah. That's like a day. That's a day for me. Seven hours. That's a day of drawing. That's nothing.
01:16:25
Speaker
They it consist of like different types out of style races and freestyle modes. Basically, you got your your standard race mode where it's like a bunch of trucks in like this one area racing. And then you got your head to heads. Like I said, freestyle, where you're basically just doing tricks until like within a certain time limit. And whoever gets the most points win.
01:16:54
Speaker
um And like there's really no end game to it. Yeah. Racing games don't really have much of like an end game unless there's like a career mode slash grand pre-mode where you get everything there. Good job. Most you you're doing is just unlocking like different paint jobs and whatnot for it. But it's just ah another one of those like unplug your brain and just have a nice like, oh, I can play this for like a couple hours and just kill time. There's yeah absolutely no real objective with this. Just hard monster truck go burr. Yeah, exactly. Nice. Nice. ah Do you have like a is there like a create your own monster truck with this then with their load or it should have been, though, like this opportunity? yeah Yeah, like I think being it's some
01:17:52
Speaker
Uh, T T H Q, uh, Nordics, uh, first, no, no, it's not them. Who is it? I can't remember the developer for it, but it's their first year. It's probably published at that probably. Yeah. But, uh, it's their first year doing this, this, uh, game, this, uh, franchise. So there might be a second one in the four B foreseeable future. Hopefully they'll add that in there.
01:18:20
Speaker
ah published, developed by milestone milestone. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. So and milestone did all like the Hot Wheels game. So, oh, oh, like the Hot Wheels unleashed games. Yeah. Oh, oh, shit. Oh, I did not know that. Yeah, that's OK. That i means so. OK, so it probably races like that.
01:18:46
Speaker
but ah So. Interesting. Okay. I also looked at it came out in August. I i i'm like well, that's much like sooner like later than I thought like well, i I realize it was like that close even though that's like three months ah ah three months ago now because this November that we're in. Yeah Wow, okay. And then you the other one that you've been playing a lot of was is WWE Which which which w WWE specifically was it wasn't again. I whatever one came out this year. Gotcha. And how is, how's this one? ah How would you rate it? So it would display it this way. It's definitely better than a 22.
01:19:35
Speaker
yeah i think I think every WWE game is better than 22. Let's be real here. I think all of them surpass should surpass that by droves. If they don't, then there's something wrong. Yeah, absolutely. yeah and um No, it's probably their most solid game in i a long, long time.
01:20:01
Speaker
so oh
01:20:05
Speaker
Yeah. And it's, it's a data game. You can create your own wrestler. Yeah. You can fight other wrestlers. It's, you got a roster update every so often with that. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Here's, I guess here's my real question. Here's a real question. It's looking Paul in the game. Yes, he is. Oh man. I know. he's I'll put it this way though.
01:20:33
Speaker
ah Logan Paul human being terrible, but him as a professional wrestler. I can't argue, you know, he's, he put in the work and he actually puts on good matches. So it's kind of like taking the good with the bad kind of thing. Have you know what I mean? I mean, I guess, I guess.
01:20:56
Speaker
Oh, i I guess. I mean, yeah, sure. you I may not like the guy, but like I. yeah i In the ring, it's entirely different than out of the ring, which is a big thing. And that's that's that's just a wrestling business as a whole. Wrestling is just an anime proof to prove me wrong.
01:21:18
Speaker
it's yeah 100 percent it's been proven that for so many times says there's no argument there i'm pretty sure we i'm pretty sure i might have said if not the exact same thing a similar thing back in one of the first episodes you were on when we talked exactly and i gave examples of how I remember that. Yeah. um So if you want to go throwback, if you want to go listen to some older episodes where we actually talk more in depth about w WWE and the video games and just like wrestling in general, go check out some of those older episodes with DJ Orange, man, because that that was like, ah it was like always a topic was like, what's new in the world of wrestling? That's right. Uh, and, uh, yeah, that's, uh, yeah. Um, were there any games that came out this year that you wish you played? I wish I was playing that new call of duty black ops. Yeah. but Um, and I don't know. Um, okay. I see games very differently, I guess, from other people. I kind of jumped to what I know. Um,
01:22:32
Speaker
There's sometimes where a game just jump out to me and and I'm like, oh, I want to try that, but never youre really get around to it. If that makes sense. Yeah, no, absolutely. I said to me with like the whole Yakuza series. It's so good. Like gameplay is so simple. The story so depth, so emotional, all in Japanese. Sure. But like credible and you're yeah yeah they and they go. And the good thing about it is the entire collection goes on sale pretty frequently now.
01:23:08
Speaker
Yes. yeah you just saying not a way on the sale And it's got a lot of ties to wrestling, too. Oh, yeah, it does. That you even were you even talked ah about this, too. I mean, Yakuza did a collaboration with one of the wrestling leagues, New Japan Pro Wrestling. Yeah, they did. And some of Jones can be in the new one there.
01:23:29
Speaker
Oh, yeah, he is. Yeah, Samoa Joe was in the trailer for fucking pirate yakuza in Hawaii. I forgot about that. And he was like, I didn't see. Here's the thing. I'm going to tell you my story about that trailer. I didn't know that was Samoa Joe at all. And it wasn't until I was watching Ray Narvaez Jr. and his ah a clip came du came up where he was reacting to the trailer. He's like, was that Samoa Joe? Rewinds it. Yup. OK.
01:24:00
Speaker
And I'm like, Oh, I know the name because of wrestling. I didn't know. That's I just knew the name because of like the wrestling. I didn't know anything else about it anything else about him. I'm just like, Oh yeah, that's a wrestling name.
01:24:15
Speaker
So yeah, it tells you the reach of like certain wrestler, wrestler days. It's just like, oh yeah, you probably recognize that day because of wrestling. Yes.
01:24:26
Speaker
a Wrestling reaches everything. Yeah. Oddly enough, it it kind of just does, which is wild. Yeah. of you Do have too much mobile gaming? Uh, every so often. Um, not as much as I probably should.
01:24:46
Speaker
I mean, there isn't much for ah much on mobile nowadays. Those are like Pokemon Go, which is like I still it's still still like one of the top mobile games of all time. Yeah. um the odd puzzle game that everybody finds their niche for. And oh, God. And now, like, there's two new, two newer, well, one's brand new, one's new-ish mobile games that people are playing. But one's going to come to Steam soon, which is Sonic Rumble. OK. And the brand new Pokemon TCG Pocket, which we brought up earlier. Yeah.
01:25:25
Speaker
I think this is silly, but the one game I've been grinding for years on mobile, PBA bowling. The PBA bowl, PBA bowl, what? Huh? Yeah. So I don't know why, but it's like the one goal to go to for mobile game that I play is like, it's just, it's bowling. Mobile bowling. Yeah.
01:25:56
Speaker
Not what I would have thought. Yeah, it's weird. But then again, I bowl Monday nights in a league. So, oh, hell yeah, dude. I used to I used to bowl in the league and then I quit because college happened. Yeah, fair. So I don't bowl in the league anymore. I'm rusty. I'm rusty. But i i understand ah I used to average like a high 170 low 180, I think.
01:26:22
Speaker
OK, five, five ten or ten, five, five, five. OK, I switch. Oh, like once in a while, I'll do like five years of five. And then I'll go 10 pen and do like a few years there. and i I was exclusively five. OK.

Bowling, Lists, and Events

01:26:43
Speaker
I'm much better on the 10 pin side. I think a lot of people are like five. It requires a lot more.
01:26:51
Speaker
Finagling. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like Angles playing. Yeah. If you know your math, you're going to be a fantastic bowler. Yeah. Oh, like, yo, actually, yo, bathers. If you ever wanted to impress the girl, you just got to go bowling. I think a bowling five pin bowling and you're going to score a fucking perfect game.
01:27:21
Speaker
It's all the angles, the Kurt angle, if you will, the Kurt angles. Yeah. Uh, nice. Um, well, uh, I would share everything that I've played this year, but I don't think we want to go. all night We'd be here all night, folks. Um, I've talked about so many of the games I've played throughout this season of the podcast and there will be a whole, my, my top 10 list will be at the end of the season, right after the game awards.
01:27:49
Speaker
Uh, the week after the game awards, the season finale of season eight, uh, we'll go over what my top 10 games of 2024 were. Uh, because, oh boy, I mean, despite it, I'd be having 108 games, only like 40 of them came out this year.
01:28:07
Speaker
So obviously it's, I don't have like a hundred games to pick from now I'm picking from 40, even though I've played like a hundred something and I might go for one 20. Some, some people say I should go for one 50, but y'all I don't know if I'm crazy enough yet. I don't think I'm, I don't think I'm crazy enough to do it. Realistically, I think one 20 is the reasonable goal.
01:28:34
Speaker
What do you think? Should I go for 150? If you can, that would be a hell of achievement, I tell you. It would be. I would have double, I would have added, a set I would have fucking added 50% from what I hit last year to my goal because I did a hundred last year. I cut it close, but I did it. And now it's like, man, I still have two months left. What am I going to do?
01:28:57
Speaker
but Yeah. Uh, well, is there anything else you want to add about, uh, any of the games you played this year? Uh, no, I think that's, that's good. All righty. Well, in that case, I'll find one more to play. I don't know. Hey, maybe, maybe even number 11 right there. Yeah. Make that my, uh, my goal right there. Oh, there you go. That's a good, that's a good goal. One more game before the end of the year.
01:29:24
Speaker
With that, it's time for us to now jump in and wrap things up by heading into the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
01:29:37

01:31:09
Speaker
Damn, you're old. Yeah, I am. 25 years old, the first Pokemon movie. How does that make you feel? It makes me feel old. I'm older than the first Pokemon movie now. That's wild. I yeah literally had a moment today in my art history class where my ah my teacher referenced Zach Morris from, I can't remember what show, he he did that the whoa,
01:31:39
Speaker
and nobody got the reference but me. I laughed in the back corner and nobody else laughed. How you know you're old when the other old person in the room makes an old reference and only the old guys understand. the Yeah. Dodge. Uh, November 14th, 2002, Microsoft officially launched Xbox live in the U S and released the Xbox live starter kit. Uh, it was priced at $50, including a one year subscription to Xbox live.
01:32:08

And on the 15th, 2001 at 1201 a.m. in New York Times Square, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates signed and sold the first Xbox to an Edward Gluxman.
01:32:25
Speaker
A lot of Xbox stuff happened in November. Microsoft was busy in November birth throughout the years. I wonder where that Xbox is now. I that's a good question. I wonder where that is, too. You think it's the sitting in his room still, or did he sell it online and say the collector's case somewhere? Well, yeah. like Or did they donate it to a museum like in the Smithsonian or something like that? right Possibly. It wouldn't shock me. Maybe interesting to look that up. It would be.
01:33:01
Speaker
ah Go moving on to game birthdays. Here's what games are turning just as old as us i November 4th crash bandicoot warped the third crash game turns 26, huh? Also on the fourth Sonic free riders and dance sensual turn 14 November 5th crash bandicoot 2 turns 27 November 6 hey you Pikachu turns 24 also on the 6th Halo 4 turns 12 November 7 2006 Tony's Hawk Tony Hawks project 8 that turns Oh God for 18 November 8th guitar hero turns 16
01:33:56
Speaker
No, that's wrong, not 16. Add 3, 19. Guitar Hero turns 19 years old on the 8th. On the 9th, Call of Duty Black Ops. ah Speaking of Black Ops, that turns 14.
01:34:13
Speaker
ah November 10th, Mario Party 5 turns 21. On the 11th, Sonic Mega Collection turns 22. And the Elder Scrolls Skyrim officially turns 13 years old. The game was released 13 years ago and then re-released however many times.

01:35:38
Speaker
um On the 16th, Animal Crossing City Folk turns 16. Sonic Colors turns 14. On the 17th, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga and Mario Kart Double Dash both turn 21. And on the 17th as well, Sonic the Hedgehog, aka Sonic 06,

Speaker

Live Service Games Debate

01:36:18
Speaker
Moving on to top five. ah Top five live service games that should just shut down and retire. What games need to die?
01:36:31
Speaker
Any any any input you have on what these five games should be? Oh, God. um I don't know. um I got one through five Fortnite, Lego Fortnite, that Fortnite racing game. The Fortnite Guitar Hero could stay because it's the best. It's the closest thing that we've gotten. And it also cryonics is like part of that project that we could stay. But the other three can go there. And um I don't know, Overwatch 2.
01:37:04
Speaker
but Yeah, I see. I can't think. Other than Fortnite, obviously. I'm just odd man ranting at this point. Get your Fortnite off my line. See, how about those people? I think every game has its place. Sometimes. Except Fortnite. Except my place.
01:37:30
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, every game does have its place. But I think that I think that Fortnite should just retire. Go out, go out like. But they've adopted the ball so much that it's to become like Roblox now at this point, and I just I don't like it. I know I'm old. I don't like it.
01:37:49
Speaker
I just don't. I feel like moving on to head to head two games enter one game leaves. I put it up against our resident DJ DJ hero versus guitar hero. What wins in your opinion? OK, so there's there's very.
01:38:07
Speaker
Pointed reason why I'm going to pick this because you can't have one without the other, but you guitar hero stays because without guitar hero, you would never had DJ hero. True.
01:38:20
Speaker
That's true. Very valid point. Did you ever, did you play? I probably asked you this in an earlier episode. I just don't remember. Have you played the DJ hero? Yes. Yeah. I, uh, I played both of them. Actually DJ hero and DJ hero too. And I got delia. I must have forgot that it got a sequel by God. I bought like the special edition. I had like the road case and everything.
01:38:47
Speaker
damn yeah i got it that's that's pretty sick it tells you how much like i fucking remember i do not remember dj hero getting a sequel yeah they they released it like within the same year as the first one oh wow yeah they it was so successful like that first one was so successful they're like we gotta get a sequel out like now so they they went hard on it Nice. Okay. Okay. Moving on to Tony's game poll. This is our seasonal poll that we are, we will be revealing the final results of it in the season finale. ah So Brandon, if Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add a Disney Pixar world that they have not added before, what world would you like to see added?

Kingdom Hearts and Gaming Deals

01:39:41
Speaker
OK, so you you will have to bring me up to speed. What? What have they had in it so far? A lot like too much. I could list, but you can name something. I can tell you if it's been in or not. OK, obviously, Toy Story is like the flagship for Pixar. So that's probably in there. It is. Toy Story was out of the hearts of three. Very recent. and was It was one of the more recent worlds.
01:40:13
Speaker
I'm just going to do a quick search, go a quick google search of just Disney and Pixar movies. Yeah. yeah I mean, hey, it's a valid thing to do because there's so many to pick from. um And it's like I look back and I said, like, man, there's a lot of like.
01:40:32
Speaker
I don't know if there's more Pixar or Disney. When I reveal the statistics of this poll at the end of the season, I will let everybody know what all the final stats are. There are some good ones in here. Yeah, I think it's one of their newer ones. Elemental would be cool. Elemental. OK, that's that's a solid choice. And I think that's a
01:41:03
Speaker

Speaker
I'm going to go with the one that I bought recently. That's Monster Jam ah Showdown. i If you love monster trucks, racing, and just like having a fun time with motor sports, that'd probably be a game for you. Like I said, it's a simulation slash arcade. So you get a mix of like realism with a little more like fantasy elements, if you will. So that's ah that's my recommendation right there.
