Welcome to Tony's Game Lounge, a biweekly podcast that covers everything in the world of video games, TCG, tabletop and more. Here's your host, Tony Fourteen. Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Tony's Game Lounge. I am your host, as always, Tony Fourteen. And joining me this week, he's a season regular, a YouTube content creator and a podcast host as well. It's, of course, my boy, no score, Nick Green. Tony, thank you so much for having me back. I'm so privileged to have the opportunity to return to the show. And just just happy to hear from my good buddy again. It's been a while. i yeah It has been. It has been life. Life's been busy for the both of us.
00:00:58
Speaker
yeah Yeah, to say the least. To say the least.

Tony's Online Persona and Gaming Discussions

00:01:02
Speaker
What's what's the 14 about? Are there 13 other one versions of you that I don't know about? What's going on? Yeah, so I figured it's like I kind of need a better name for my online persona. Like instead of going by like just Tony Game Lounge or Mr. Game Lounge, it's like it's i I think it was this season that we changed I changed it to Tony 14. And it's just like, yeah, it's it's the cooler Tony. Yeah, yeah. It took 14 tries, but you know what? Perfection is a process. It is. It's different for everybody. Exactly. It took 14 tries. It took 14 tries in 2,000 hours in an MMORPG by the same name.
00:01:43
Speaker
And we did, unfortunately, have to send the other 13 Tonys out to pasture. But they're in a better place. so Yeah, that they are. They are in ah the Kingdom Hearts games that are now on Steam. Whoo! Which also, funny thing about that, the game all three Kingdom Hearts collection games are on sale right now on Steam to kick off their release. You know how what they're discounted at? What are they at? 31% discount. thirty one yeah it will As outsider, I feel like that is just such a random obscure number. It's actually not. It's Kingdom Hearts. It's probably like actually has meaning. Now, when you think of Kingdom Hearts, what number comes to your head? Well, the first one that came to mind was three, but that's because it took forever to get Kingdom Hearts three was ah like,
00:02:39
Speaker
Produced so valid valid answer, but the real answer is 13 because there's 13 darkness the 13 members of Organization 13 It's a whole thing. What's 31 backwards? thirteen
00:03:00
Speaker
On June 13th Oh
00:03:05
Speaker
So yeah, it's it's funny what Steam has done with that. There's also Square is doing a giveaway sweepstakes where you could get a Steam Deck with all the Kingdom Hearts themes on it. I think someone said it might be signed by Nomura as well, um but there's sweepstakes going on where you could win a Steam Deck and other Kingdom Hearts merchandise. Nice. It's ah it's very cool. um And before we get even more sidetracked, Nick, you're back on. We have a new intro segment for people who have returned. It's hot takes where you get to give us your hottest video game take. Look, I. I am not a like.
00:03:51
Speaker
Passionate. weird's It's weird to say it out loud, but like I am not a passionate person when it comes to these types of takes. I'm not like the very sensational a hot take type of person. So as soon as i so I saw this segment on the run of show, I was like dreading it all day trying to figure out what the hell I was even going to come up with. um And I had to dig into the deepest bowels of Reddit comments to ah get some sort of like idea or grain of um inspiration. And let me tell you, Reddit comments, there is there's some whack stuff out there. But I think my hottest take would have to just be,
00:04:38
Speaker
a Legend of Zelda is kind of overrated. Wow. wow I still have like i have barely scratched that series. I got the ah Wind Waker collector's edition with my GameCube when I was a kid. and So I think I played, I don't know what it was if it was like a 30 minute demo or something that came with that desk. It was like the first two Zeldas or no, it was ah Legend of Zelda, Zelda two, Ocarina and Majora's. Yeah, I know exactly which I know exact. That's so I have that. I have that exact game in my game. Oh, perfect. Yeah. So you know what I'm talking about? I know exactly what you're talking about. And then like four of the classic games by that time.
00:05:27
Speaker
um And I really enjoyed playing through ah those like as a kid. ah But I mean, as a kid, like you really only ever make a certain amount of progress unless you're like a God tier level gamer by that point. Yeah. um So I always like kind of play the same sort of areas and everything. um And then never really got into the series outside of that until I think Breath of the Wild came around. And ever since getting it, I think I got it probably like two years after its release. Cause I was just, I don't think I had a Switch until then anyway. um But I still don't have more than 10 hours in that game just cause like nothing grabbed me that much. Like the open world exploration aspect
00:06:13
Speaker
was kind of interesting at first, but like the weapon breaking system and the like food system didn't really hook me immediately. And then the story, like as you know, isn't exactly the most revolutionary or anything, or is isn't exactly the sticking point for getting that game anyway. um So yeah, I just have not gone back to the game. I actually tried getting back into it ah last summer and I did pretty well. ah I think I got to like one of the second Guardian bosses or whatever they're called. ok
00:06:44
Speaker
Um, but I'm stuck on that boss currently as we speak. So, uh, I just haven't like, I've really, like every time I try and get into it, I like stick around for a few hours and then I'm just like, eh, there's, it's not what I was, I'm like expecting it to be going in every time. So. But I don't hate the series at all, but I definitely think it's probably overrated a lot of the time. Like people were like all the talk when Tears of the Kingdom came out last year is like game of the year, game of the like decade, century, millennium or whatever. ah It's like one of the best video games of all time. And it's just like and obviously like I don't I haven't played it at all. So like I can't really attest to it at all. But
00:07:29
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. zelda Zelda series, while I do admire it a lot, I just think it it gets ah blown out of proportion a lot of the time. Okay. Hey, that's pretty fair. That's pretty fair. You know what? It's a fair, hot take there, Nick. and And it won't, like, it won't deter my interest because, like, I still want to, like, try and keep going through Breath of the Wild because there is a lot of stuff there I like. um And I even want to try out Two's of the Kingdom to see what's different about it. But the sky and also the underground. Yeah, the verticality is the verticality. Yeah, the verticality. That's based. That's basically it. No more and a humber by different arm.
00:08:09
Speaker
And a hover bike that takes you everywhere. Because that's the only way to travel effectively. But yeah, that's ah I think that's going to be my hottest take that I can come up with ah with the amount of time that I that I had. OK, OK. I mean, you already know what my hot take is. Please refresh me because uh, I okay. I'm like, I don't know if you remember Uh the season one finale where it was the nicks and our nintendo insider. Uh aden And oh, yeah coal was there too. Oh, it was a party. It was a party. That was it was absolutely was um
00:08:53
Speaker
And I'll i'll always remember two things for that episode. Aiden said he would fight the entire Fire Emblem cast behind a 7-Eleven. And all of you guys all of you guys ah this viscerally reacted to my comment of Super Mario 64 is a bad game. Oh, OK.

Ubisoft Forward Presentation Insights

00:09:16
Speaker
Yeah, I remember that now. You know what, though? Now i I do agree with it in some capacity, like just on the basis of the camera alone, like that has aged to that game very poorly. Yeah. So now I get it. I get it.
00:09:34
Speaker
ah Well, we have a we have a loaded episode today Nick yeah it shows on shows on shows it video It's what we would say if it was still around E3 season God rest your soul rest its soul. ah It's summer game fest season and we the Aside from the PlayStation show which already happened. Yeah, which boy that was ah Show talk about ah ah a sputter of a like start to the summer gaming announcement season Yeah, a poor start, but thankfully every other show was pretty good Yeah, I would say um in our headline of the week We're covering the first one which is actually the most recent of the three the big three that we'll be covering the Ubisoft forward event
00:10:27
Speaker
um And they they announced a lot of things they had a small pre-show like 30 minute pre-show It was just like a few small updates on things Rocksmith plus if you didn't for people who'd like me who didn't know now has piano Lessons that they offer on top of guitar and bass Oh, cool. ah As for some other games, this Bed We Made was shown off. It's a mystery three game where you play as a hotel maid. It's out now, actually. Oh, cool. Just Dance VR is coming October 15th on the MediQuest. Wow. Honestly, you know what? I'm surprised it actually took this long for as long as VR has been around. That is true. it's i' It is a bit surprising that it's only just now happening because it does make sense for it to go that way. Totally. Yeah, totally.
00:11:13
Speaker
We also got, and this is the hypest news ever, a brand new Monopoly game, baby! Monopoly 2! It's just called Monopoly. It's coming out sometime in September. ah Let's go! Game of the year, baby. Game of the year, Monopoly. Fan favorite. I'm going to say this. If video game Dunkey doesn't make a video on Monopoly, I think that the... in I don't know what what's going to happen. Completely missed opportunity. Completely missed opportunity if he doesn't make that knowing Dunkey. Yeah. um King of the Hat was shown off, which is a new platform brawler. It's out now on Steam, and it's only $4.99 for the rest of June.
00:11:58
Speaker
ah Biomorph was shown off. It's a side-scroller game where you kind of get to become what you kill oh interesting Battle core arena. This is some sphere on sphere violence This is an early access and you can play it for free and also for honor I didn't know this game was still getting support um The Muramasa blade, which is the new season kicks off today that we're recording. it It's on right now This that game has been out for like almost a decade or more. It's not it's I believe it said this is year eight season 13. Oh, okay. So just on year eight or year nine. It's yeah, it's like it's Crazy that this is crazy. Wait, it's nutty. Um, but good idea Ubisoft for kind of keeping the game alive And I don't know what the community is still like. I know that friend of the podcast Our boy Preston
00:12:52
Speaker
He used to play. He was very big into this game like back in the early, early days. I don't know if he still hung on to it, but I know that he used to play at it quite a bit. and Clearly the there's some semblance of a fan base that's dedicated because otherwise they probably wouldn't bother, right? Yeah, definitely. And then we get on to the main show and they started off with the big thing that a lot of people are super super excited for Star Wars Outlaws the first open world Star Wars game and we got a lot of gameplay showing it was actually a really a gameplay showcase that they showed off
00:13:28
Speaker
um They taught us about the expert system, which is how you learn your skills by going to find these experts all throughout the galaxy. They showed us a little bit of space battles, ah showed us how your relations can differ with factions depending on what you do, and a whole bunch of other things. And of course, that game releases on August 30th. And I believe they also had more Outlaws gameplay after a show. I didn't really watch it because I'm probably not going to play Star Wars Outlaws just because I'm not that big into Star Wars anymore. Yeah, that's that's fair. It's been ah quite a big onslaught of Star Wars stuff in general, not just games, but like I still haven't even finished ah Jedi Survivor from last year, so I definitely wanted to do that before I like decide to get into Outlaws. I did have a little bit of interest when they first announced this.
00:14:22
Speaker
um the like first cinematic trailer they they showed got me and interested. But then I think they had prior to this showcase, they had ah another trailer and it kind of got me a little I don't know if they had any gameplay in it at all. I don't remember. But it it kind of made me a little uneasy about it. And I think that's when they were there was a little bit of like rumors and like differing like facts talking about like a a jab of the hut mission that would be a battle pass or whatever. Yeah, it's a Java Hut mission that's blocked behind a...
00:14:58
Speaker
like the and deluxe edition, the deluxe edition. Yeah. but Luckily, luckily that was like quelled and like ah this disbanded. I don't know how you want to say it, but like that's not true, basically, is like the Jabba the Hutt stuff will be like playable for everybody. It's not not price, okay which is good. Is it just is it are they doing the thing that Harry Potter, the Harry Potter game is doing where it's like, oh, hey, remember that exclusive mission that we had on PlayStation five with our summer update is going to be available everywhere. No, i I think it is just going to be like a day one. um I think it was like more cosmetic stuff. Maybe that came with like a pre-order deluxe edition that was like Jabba themed or something. Okay. um But yeah, ah so since ever since that like trailer and like controversy came out.
00:15:48
Speaker
Um, I was a little bit more hesitant, but with this gameplay trailer, I actually got a little bit more invested. Um, but like, even like with that said, and that more positive reaction, I'm kind of still with you, Tony, like I'm currently watching the acolyte and like, it's just very. nothing. It's like a lot whole lot of nothing. And I'm like so unsure of how I feel about it at best. And then at worst, it's really not feeling good. So there's just a lot of Star Wars stuff. but There is one thing I will give Star Wars. It's games tend to do so much better than
00:16:23
Speaker
Other media. Yeah. Yeah. Their game consists or their game quality has been very consistent, I would say. And I do definitely want to finish Jedi Survivor. But yeah, it's just like being an adult, having life responsibilities and everything, and then like also keeping this hobby of gaming up and like just the sheer amount of interest I have in so many other types of games. It really like ah knocks down these Star Wars games, a few pegs on the ladder. Yeah, so definitely. Hopefully it's good, though. We then got some more news for X Defiant, which is Ubisoft's free to play shooter with no skill based matchmaking, ah which is a big. yeah That's a big thing of why this game kind of picked up while it has been picking up traction because it's either you're good or you're bad. There is no it's like you could either do really well or you could get smoked.
00:17:19
Speaker
yeah um They're adding a new faction called the GSK three new weapons a new map per month Starting the new season I believe is when they said all this I capture the flag mode and a whole bunch more rewards and season one officially kicks off on July 2nd So for people who are playing x defiance youre yeah you'll be eating good for a while then we got an Update to skull and bones and Tony's excited about this one. I i called it what i when when it with it when it kept getting delayed, I'm like, this game's not gonna be good. I was right. ah But apparently there's enough of a player base that theyre you're they announced season two, Chorus of Havoc. That's insane to me honestly. And they showed off season three stuff.
00:18:13
Speaker
Wow, and they now the cool I will say this the cool thing is they showed off like the new world boss Coming in season two and three season two yet to fight the megalodon Which I always think is always kind of cool with pirate games to fight. Yeah, yeah uncle laan but season three, you know what the world boss is gonna be a dragon oh Of course a dragon is pirate themed ah creature. Yeah a dragon I mean, you know what, though, Tony, like there are there are many like shore things. And one of those shore things when it comes to fantasy, like um otherworldly kind of settings, even if it is pirates, like dragons can just like throw dragons in it and it'll like up the coolness factor a little bit, at least.
00:19:03
Speaker
I guess. Dragons are inherently cool. And I know people will probably play yeah but like stick around to season three, if only for the curiosity factor of pirates versus dragons. I mean, here's you'll here's what's here's what could happen, though, to kill that curiosity really. Sea of Thieves does it first. Could you imagine? Sea of Thieves released the surprise update. There's a dragon in the sky. That would be so great. And boom, there you go. There goes the Scullabone. There goes the curiosity for Scullabone. Let the game die. Dude, you know what? Microsoft owns Sea of Thieves. Microsoft owns Elder Scrolls. Do a Skyrim crossover. Actually, you know what? That would be lit. Microsoft, do it, please. Yeah, there you go. You get to face Alduin. Oh, that'd be sick. That would be sick. We then got a whole bunch of news for the Prince of Persia series.
00:19:58
Speaker
as it is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Holy cow. First, ah there's some free content coming to The Lost Crown, and also Story DLC, Mask of Darkness, is coming to the game in September. ah The Rogue Prince of Persia, which is currently in early access, is getting the Temple of Fire update and news people have been waiting for for a good couple of years now. Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time remake, has a release window of 2026.
00:20:31
Speaker
it's So far away still far away. Yes, but it does mean next year we might start to see things Yes, I'm sure some people are it will take over nothing of just words of its is it being worked on or not? Yeah, yeah Uh avatar frontiers of pandora is getting story pack one the skybreaker, uh coming out july 16th Story pack one. What does that mean? It's a bunch of story story dlc's i believe there's a season pass It's a season pass that you can get for all of it or you can buy each individually And so the first story pack, uh, the skybreaker is coming out july 16th And I mean people people liked that game. It's basically from what my gist of it is far cry but
00:21:16
Speaker
But on Pandora. Avatar, yeah. Yeah, fair. The crew motor fest is getting season four in July and they also kind of teased its year two roadmap, including adding the island of Maui because I believe the game takes place in Honolulu. So they're adding the second island. Then for people who are fans of the Anno series, Anno 117 Pax Romano was announced and coming out in 2025.
00:21:48
Speaker
And then they ended the show with Assassin's Creed Shadows showing like us some gameplay of both Yasuke and Naale. Yasuke, it's basically this game is like, what if Ghost of Tsushima was two characters instead of one? Mm-hmm. where Yasuke plays the more honorable samurai role, and now he plays the ninja stealth role, just like old Assassin's Creed games. um they She also has a grappling hook. um During certain missions, you select who you want to play as to determine your approach to it, um and it comes out November 15th.
00:22:29
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be very interesting to see how this one measures up to Ghost of Tsushima because a lot of people kind of are not really compared, but like just took Ghost as like a very like Assassin's Creed light. So it'll be interesting to see how they implement the like proper mechanics from an actual Assassin's Creed game into this setting. Yeah, it's going to be how does it it's good and it's going to compare which of this how is it's going to be a head to head between those two these two massive games. Totally. Who did it better? Mm hmm. Which is exciting to see. Honestly, Shadows looks good enough for me to like I would consider playing it and getting back into Assassin's Creed. Like it's the first game in a while that I'm like, I kind of want to play Assassin's Creed again. is boy been It's been a bit since I felt that way about the series. Mm hmm.
00:23:22
Speaker
um But that was Ubisoft's foreword. A lot of things were showing off. how would I would rate the show a solid B minus to a B. Okay. That's where I would put the show. Having not actually watched it and only having checked out the Star Wars Outlaws ah like gameplay trailer ah breakdown, um like i mean that that kind of tells you all you need to know about how I felt about this show. like i had very I'm not super devoted to like Ubisoft games in general anyway.
00:24:00
Speaker
So i it it didn't, there wasn't much on the docket for me to like kind of check it out out of pure curiosity. um So yeah, it's probably gonna be my least favorite of all the showcases this, ah these last couple of weeks. All right. ah Well, with that, it's time for us to, before we cover more of this stuff, we have a few news articles to go over and a few other things to deal with. um Let's dive into the week in review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review.
00:24:38
Speaker
um And as per usual, some of the games that came out within the past two weeks that were massive, Destiny 2, the final shape, the fine the quote unquote final expansion for the game ah released. um i will In a couple weeks or so, we'll probably get word from our Destiny Insider Jackson on how it rates and how everything wrapped up and how the game is currently in its state of affairs soon. ah Killer clothes from outer space the game came out Shin Megami 10 say five a vengeance was released task master VR was released based on the television show not the comic the Marvel character and Monster Hunter stories one and two Monster Hunter stories one being released on PlayStation and switch and to being on just PlayStation and PC Releasing because it was already on switch
00:25:34
Speaker
As for video game news that isn't a direct, ah Nintendo announced that it'll be bringing its Animal Crossing New Horizons Aquarium Tour nationwide. um They announced this on Monday. ah Seven cities are where they're touring, and the tour is going to go all the way till February 2025. With some of the cities essentially like overlapping of when they'll get it, you can check out the website to see what the cities are and how long they'll be running for. In some wild track mania news track mania players have been trying to complete a challenge map That's been dubbed ludicrously hard that there's a thirty thousand dollar cash prize for reaching the top of this map And it's been about a month and no one's done it yet. Oh my god ah So good luck to whoever eventually wins that thirty thousand dollars.
00:26:28
Speaker
Yeah, hopefully you retain some semblance of sanity after that. yeah Metal Slug Tactics had a new trailer drop with a release date set for Fall 2024. Amazon, and this is wild to me, they're working on a Yakuza series. Okay. It'll be arriving in October on Prime. You know what, though? like As far as video game adaptations go, ah they're one for one. so Oh, yeah. they They nailed Fallout. They nailed Fallout. As far as I'm concerned, I think as long as they put faith in their creative team and just let them like do what they need to do or want to do, then we should be sitting pretty.
00:27:15
Speaker
True. Team Fortress 2 has dropped to mostly negative for Steam reviews. oh The player base is taking action as Valve is not taking action on the game's bot problem. um They've even gotten in a petition signed that they're sending to Valve and a lot of other things to have Valve fix their game. ah Yeah. It yeah, but that's not even the wildest story we have here in the wildest story of the week IKEA is hiring workers for its online Roblox store for 13 pounds and 15 I don't know what the cent at 13 15 pounds Per hour you can even serve at virtual meatballs No
00:28:05
Speaker
It's only in the UK and Ireland. I can't say they would hire 10 people to run virtual Roblox store as part of an initiative to showcase potential career opportunities to young people and you must be 18 or older to apply for this gig. okay virtual meatballs yeah yeah you have me at virtual meatballs um all right whatever thank you go off i guess yep uh persona free reload episode igus DLC was given its release date of september 10th
00:28:41
Speaker
And the Switch, like the other consoles, has finally removed Twitter slash X sharing from the console. ah yeah that which ah has now Twitter has now been removed from all three consoles now that you can no longer share stuff to the system. And now, before we get into more news, we've got two more directs for you. And no, it's not the two directs you're thinking of. It's the Wholesome Games Direct and the Devolver Digital Direct. These are great. These are great and we're starting with the wholesome games direct ah Which whole boy there was a lot that was shown I will say that you can visit wholesome games comm for a full list of every game That's a part of this year's show to see more details because I'm gonna be rapid-firing this one off
00:29:30

ah Tracks of thought, it's a card battle game to help where you help resolve problems. um It's out now. I need to check get that game. that That one seemed intriguing enough that I wanted to try that one. Wag's Heads, it's a record store simulator game. Screenbound was shown off briefly. That's that 3D platformer game that you also look down at your Game Boy as a 2D platformer, and you use both in tandem to progress through the world. Really cool. Really cool. And that's... that's There's a lot more that was also shown at the montage at the end of the game. But again, for the full list, visit wholesomegames dot.com for all the games that were showcased.
00:33:46
Speaker
Yeah, I just to revisit a couple like my ah highlights of the show. Yes. Definitely ah Lost and Found Co and Tiny Lands 2 were some highlights for me. I played the first Tiny Lands on my ah No Score Plays ah channel. So I'm definitely excited to play that one. Little Lands loved the art style. Spilled looks really ah very wholesome um and screenbound. Like you said, really cool concept reminds me a lot of um
00:34:18
Speaker
Frick, what was the perspective one last year? Oh, oh, um oh, viewfinder viewfinder. Thank you. yeah Yeah. Yeah. I was very reminiscent of that in a way. Yeah. I love you find it was a plot of that one. That was a great one. So good. Yeah. No, great show all around. and Yeah. very So many, so many variety or like a such a big variety of games, which is great. ah For me, Myth Match seemed interesting. ah Tiny Bookshop looked cool. I just love Squeakross because it's just Picross, but you're using cheese instead. I find that absolutely ah hilarious. ah Fruit Bus seemed interesting. And then Tracks of Thought as well. Really, really, really want to check that one out.
00:35:04
Speaker
And now we move on to the Devolver Digital Direct. Dude, this show was so unhinged. so like five this are This is the only one I actually did not have time to watch. Dude, you have to go watch it. like i like it There aren't many like um game showcases that like are really worth revisiting unless you had like already watched them when they were live and like for nostalgia purposes. but like this specific Devolver direct, you have to go because they do like a like through line narrative for in between each game announcement. It's so great. I think Devolver does that with all of like Devolver's directs are always so unhinged. I really are so great. They i say brought back Volvi for this one. So God. Yeah.
00:35:52
Speaker
ah I implore everybody to go watch the Devolver in Digital Direct from this year because it is amazing. As for what was announced, there wasn't a lot that was actually shown off. It was like a handful of games that were shown off from the site that I gathered that recapped it for me. Started off Talos Principle 2, Road to Elysium. It's getting a three-part expansion containing Orpheus Ascending, Isle of the Blessed, and Into the Abyss. It comes out June 14th.
00:36:23
Speaker
Uh, the crush house was shown off. This is a, what was described as a lifestyle slash third person shooter. Uh, where you play as a way when they get third person, I don't know where that yeah i don't know where they got that one from. it You play as a reality TV show producer and you're producing a reality TV show. There's a demo out now and it comes out August 9th. I might go check out the demo for this to see. It does look interesting. It's a unique concept. Think like ah Big Brother, the show ah simulator, basically. But there's yeah also some like dark twists and turns here and there. um Yeah, it does look very interesting.
00:37:06
Speaker
Then there's anger foot it comes out July 11th. So good 10 jutsu. This is from the designer of dead cells That was showcased possessors, which is an action side scroller coming out 2025 and then the what people or a new update for cult of the lamb which everyone loves a lot everyone loves cult of the lamb The unholy alliance update this is giving people a brand new playable character the goats and also Co-op and it's awesome August 12th It absolutely is um a bunch of like a bunch of other like ah Quality of life stuff and stuff. Yeah, yeah ah Two-player cult of the lamb. I know for a damn fact that my boy some mellow fellow will be playing that on launch perfect so
00:38:02
Speaker
Yeah, pretty light on the game announcements, but, like, Angerfoot looks hilarious, and it looks like it could be really fun ah mechanics using, like, different shoes ah to give you different abilities, like, ah different, like, really over-the-top style, like, Air Jordans think. um But it's like a first-person shooter. and the shoes give you different abilities like double jump and speed and whatnot. Tenjutsu, I mean, I love Dead Cells and it looks right up my alley for that one as well. And the trailer they cut together, the like anime 80s cyberpunk and inspired trailer they did was really good too. Alone, worth watching alone for that. um And Possessors looked great as well. More indie games. Yeah. I mean, that is basically Devolver's thing. They are they are just... um
00:38:52
Speaker
They're like Annapurna, where they're the publisher of a lot of great indies. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Which is great. It is. So that was those two shows. We're now going to get into some more news, starting with our live service game news. Final Fantasy XIV stuff just kicked things off. Dawn Trail, we are, as of recording this, 19 days away to early access. Actually, no, to the official launch of ah Dawn Trail, even less time, we're only like 13, 28, 15 days away from early access on day of recording this. We're even closer to that ah if you're listening to this on the Monday or beyond.
00:39:40
Speaker
We're very close. ah The Mughal Tombstones event is on until the 24th and the Dragon Quest X event is on until the 20th and also the Yokai Watch event is still on as well. All of those will be available basically until ah Yokai and the Tombstones go right until the game goes down for maintenance to get ready for Dawn Trail. The media tour details have been released. You can go watch any of your favorite Final Fantasy content creators that are big, that were at the media event to see how all the new jobs are getting affected, how Viper and Pictomancer are going to play, and what questions they got to ask Yoshi P. I will share this from Mr. Happy. Blitzball is not getting added into the game and probably never will be.
00:40:28
Speaker
Sorry folks also We now go to the future Here's future Tony with the live letter from the producer that happened on the 14th Take it away future me. Hey guys, it's future Tony here with the update for the dawn trail live letter from the producer and I'm going to go right into it. We got the brand new launch trailer for Dawn Trail and it looks really, really fucking sick. I'm not going to spoil anything in it aside from Aaron Bell is going to be the stories narrator this time around, which I think is really, really hype. Go watch the trailer yourself or don't if you don't want to see any potential spoilers, but it looks really cool and it's going to be a sick story.
00:41:12
Speaker
We got a whole bunch of new screenshots of the areas, cities, dungeons, and a whole bunch of other things. We got some details on all the key characters, from our returning scions to all the new characters, including the Dawn Servant, Galul Jaja, the guy in charge, Bakul Jaja, which who's the other guy who has two heads, Kawana, he's the cat boy that we think that Urianger and Dankrit are going to be working with. and a whole bunch of others. They confirmed the new roll quests and disciple of land and hand quests, which are going to be through the Wachu Mechie Mechie deliveries. I think that's how you pronounce it. It has a queue. It has ah two queues in there. So I'm assuming it's Mechie or it might be Mechie. Who knows? um But yeah, that's going to be exciting. We got the new treasure dungeon revealed, which looks pretty neat. ah They're confirming new crafting and gather actions, which
00:42:10
Speaker
Go figure. Also, orange crafting scripts, which that's going to be the new crafter script that you'll be able to collect, as well as the new elegant tome stones of aesthetics and heliometry. Bicolor gemstones are getting a cap increase up to 1,500. You're going to have an option to hide to players around NPC quests, so that way you can access them easy without clicking on 100 other characters ah before getting to the quest. It's going to be turned off by default, but I think this is a really, really nice feature that will save a lot of headaches for people who aren't on controller where you can just easily access the quest regardless of how many people are around you. um Also, headgear and face accessories will now be co-wearable. So if you're wearing a piece of headgear, you can wear a face accessory as well instead of just one or the other with the headgear. That's super awesome. I'm definitely going to try to take advantage of that.
00:43:06
Speaker
They also said with the two die system, which is coming in essentially waves, basically each major patch or each update patch. More and more articles will have the ability to be died with two dies. And they said by seven point four ish is when a majority, if not all should be done. And lastly, they did show off a whole bunch of minions and the extreme trial mounts for the Dawn Trail trials, which are going to be wings. So just like straight up wings is what we're gonna be getting as the mounts for those So that's pretty cool. It's uh Gonna be interesting to see them in action, but pretty cool. And yeah, that's everything that we got from the live letter from the producer ah Let's get back to the the past
00:43:58
Speaker
Wow, that's incredible. I can't believe that Yoshi P just announced all of that stuff. or It's amazing. It's the best announcement of this whole whole show. I my i i am hard ah but i have stone. I have become rock.
00:44:19
Speaker
i so not where i' going with that i i I was like I I could make so many jokes. I don't know where Also, I forgot to mention this at the top of the episode But I'm gonna mention it now 42 minutes in if you're listening to this and you uh Listen to me on national radio on The Roy Green Show ah this past two weekends ago. Hi, welcome to the podcast. Hope you're having a great day. 42 minutes in. 42 minutes in, i giving you this. If you're wondering why we're rated explicit, it's because we sometimes swear.
00:44:54
Speaker
That's that's really it. Or make explicit jokes or like Tony just did. Yep, that's why. um hope you Hope you're enjoying everything about this. I completely forgot to mention that off the top. I'm not going to go back and add it in post. That's my own fault for forgetting that. Hey, better late than never. Exactly, exactly. Moving on to Battle Royale and live service free to play game news. Overwatch is bringing back the Pink Mercy 2018 skin as part of the Mercy for Cause charity campaign with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It's going to be available later this month and will be joined by a new variant of that skin called Rose Gold Mercy. It's going to be released on the 25th of June and be available till the July 8th.
00:45:40
Speaker
And all the money from that will go towards breast cancer research. And in Fortnite stuff, Metallica is coming to Fortnite Festival adding six new songs and a new PvP mode to the game where you can go up against people in an online multiplayer called Battle Stage. That's all I got for that. um Also, Destiny 2 had a showcase in Destiny news. They had a small showcase as well, ah where they announced Codename Frontiers, which is going to be the next major update, we believe, with no further details on what it's going to give us. And also Destiny 2 Echoes, which is going to be some smaller stories happening.
00:46:19
Speaker
Soon, with the Revenant, which is dealing with the fallen in Scorn, Storyline, and Heresy, where we get to return to the Dreadnought from Destiny 1. The big ship that Oryx was in. It's cool. um In DCG news, with Pokรฉmon Shrouded Fable releases August 2nd, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Battles of Legend to Terminal Revenge releases June 21st, The Infinite Forbidden releases on July 19th, and the 25th Anniversary 10 Dueling Mirrors on September 20th. In Magic of the Gathering, Modern Horizons 3 is out now, Universes Beyond Assassin's Creed releases July 5th, and Bloomborough on August 2nd. And in Lorekana, Shimmering Skies, the name just announced, um will be releasing on August 23rd, retail-wide, August 9th for local card shops.
00:47:14
Speaker
And that's everything that happened ah in the Week in Review. That's not a massive game show. Any thoughts on any of those other pieces there, Nick? ah Nothing, unfortunately, Tony. I'm not much of a live service gamer, nor am I into esports or card games. But it sounds like there's ah a decent amount going on there. it's ah It's a world I'm very unfamiliar with. But um it sounds like there was a good variety, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokรฉmon, Magic. lots of Lots of stuff being announced. I'm happy for you. You want to know the funny thing about Lorkana? They held recently their first like proper tournaments for the game. Okay. And the winner of the the first tournament, he took home... The grand prize was a binder of every legal card for the game.
00:48:08
Speaker
Oh, that's cool. So he's got like an entire collection, basically. And one of them is like a one of 500 Golden Mickey or 200. That's pretty cool. It's number 100 specifically. Plus the cash prize, which was like a good amount cash prize. Oh, cool. It's like so it's not just a card binder. Yeah. It's like, God damn, Disney. It's like this is what you get when Disney is the fucking card game provider. Oh, I guess so. and They've got money to spend. They certainly do. They do. All with that, it's time for us to now look ahead and see what games are coming out within the next two weeks. Here's what should be on your radar from June 17th to 28th. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar.
00:49:00
Speaker

00:50:37
Speaker
Whoo lots of games lots of games uh Starting with the big one drug dealer simulator, too yeah Everyone is going to be the servers are going to break for that. That sensational game. Yeah. Yeah. um But no, clearly, I'm talking about the big game five minutes a phrase help wanted to actually umm so I didn't know that there was help wanted to ah coming out. So it really came out to like early or ah late last year, I think. OK, for like, I think maybe the quest or something. So now it's coming to that's covered the PSVR.
00:51:16
Speaker
yeah Makes sense. it follows the like It's all very ah centered on the um security breach aesthetic and everything. It takes place in like the pizza plex. Well, not takes place in the pizza plex, but like there's certain missions and stuff inside ah the pizza plex. so Okay. No, the real big game that people are excited for. I wasn't actually sure if you were actually completely serious about the FNAF one. No, no. So I just let you roll with it. So, Elden Ring, Shadow of the Air Tree.
00:51:51
Speaker
Everyone's excited for this. Everyone that has played Elden Ring and was good at Elden Ring is excited for this. Which is about 40% of the players because according to Steam, only 40% of the people have the required achievement to even access the DLC. That's pretty ballsy of FromSoft, but you know what? It's kind of on brand. So yeah, so yeah if you want if you're if you like the game, but you're not good at it, wait till you get good to get the DLC. Yeah. yeah
00:52:25
Speaker
um But following that, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, I'm genuinely excited for that one. I love Monkey Ball and it's a Switch exclusive. um I don't know if it's going to be Switch exclusive forever or if it's just going to be for a while. Come down to other platforms eventually. Yeah, so I'm going to sit on it and wait to see if it'll come to PlayStation and other things eventually. ah But super excited that that's coming out. Luigi's Mansion 2 HD finally completing the trilogy on Switch. um Because I think you can get the first one. I think so. Can you access it through the like Switch Online service? It's not on Switch Online. I think they just... I can't remember if they just re-released it for the Switch or not. I genuinely can't remember. ah At the very least, we're getting the second one. Yes, the second one that was 3DS exclusive. ha And Spy on Operation Memories, believe it or not, I'm going to probably play that.
00:53:22
Speaker
for those This is the Spy Family video game where I believe it's just a bunch of mini games where you're filling up a scrapbook as Anya for a school project. and i like I like Spy Family, so I'm probably gonna check the game out, see how good it is. At most, it's gonna be a really easy Platinum trophy. There you go. It's always good to bump up your Platinum's exactly i I think if I'm smart about it, I could reach my 100th platinum this year If I'm smart about it Perfect, but with that it's time for us to dive in
00:54:05
Speaker
here we Talk about the two big, big showcases that happened on the weekend. Yes, sir. Here's what we're talking about this week in the Game Lounge. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge.
00:54:30
Speaker
And to kick it off, Summer Game Fest 2024. It happened Friday, the 7th of June. And boy, what a show. Yeah, yeah lots ah lots of announcements. um I think there was a pretty actually sizable amount of things that ah caught my interest anyway. But I mean, there was just a ton of stuff. ah The like big three kind of things that Jeff Keeley kind of teased for the like the run of show in terms of like, we got Batman stuff, we got Harry Potter stuff.
00:55:11
Speaker
um it like maybe a little lackluster. yeah They weren't like huge things, especially like the Batman game. But um yeah, in terms of like big, big games, I don't know that there were a ton from one I remember. ah But there definitely was a it was I feel like it was a quality or a quantity over quality for the most part. Yeah. um But like there was still a good good ah sense of quality there for what was there. Yes. ah They started off the game with something out of left field Lego Horizon Adventures. Yeah. For the PlayStation PC and Switch.
00:55:58
Speaker
That's pretty huge. It's just huge. And on sweat and for those wondering, what is this? Like when I say horizon, I mean Horizon Zero Dawn Forbidden West, that horizon in Lego with a hot dog man. Dog man. I, uh, I'm, but yeah, you said came out of left field, Tony, like I was so surprised by this and it was a welcome one to be sure to quote Senator Palpatine. Um, Mike, I hope we, I hope this is the start of something big where we just get a ton of Lego games based on, cause we've already done so many Lego games based on like movies and yeah, maybe not TV shows based on video games.
00:56:41
Speaker
Okay. Yeah, exactly. like Give me Lego God of War Adventures. Give me Lego Ghost of Tsushima Adventures. give me lego give me go have have Give Microsoft a little taste of Lego. Give me Lego Halo too. Oh, dude, absolutely. Even though like that might be hard to do with how like I don't know if Mega Block still has like the licensing or whatever. Oh, right. But I completely forgot about that. Yeah. But I don't know if that would only be limited to like toys merchandising and they could still pull off a Lego, which would honestly be even more hilarious if there was a Lego Halo video game, but no Lego Halo like actual sets.
00:57:21
Speaker
that's that would be that Yeah, but i would be no, I'm absolutely and like like even with Nintendo like Lego Mario Lego Zelda, you know, we just got a Lego Zelda set announced. So yeah, I hope this is the some start of something huge. Yeah, absolutely. Comes out holiday this year. As well awesome, um then we got no more room in hell 2 this is an 8 player co-op perma death zombie game coming out Halloween this year Based off of the popular based off. It was a mod. No more room in hell 1 was a mod for something else um really Remember what and now it's being full game with its sequel looks cool I think that this would be a great game with the boys
00:58:03
Speaker
Totally. Yeah, it feels very much in line kind of with like ah like I mean survival crafting games obviously, but then like um Just the the zombies crowd the cod zombies crowd would probably get a kick out of it. especially Yeah, especially with the permadeath stuff It's like you could do just see how far your runs get I I kind of got like what if zomboid was a bit more 3d was like 3d and whatnot and Yeah, yeah. Then, the Harry Potter news, Harry Potter Quidditch Champions finally has a release date of September 3rd. Yeah, this is cool. I mean i kind of like downplayed the the Harry Potter announcement, but like I'm honestly surprised it took this long for us to get a Quidditch game made. and well Yeah.
00:58:49
Speaker
I can't believe it. which' We're in the year of our Lord 2024 and we've only just got a Quidditch game announced. So that's crazy. But it does sound interesting. Looks promising. And it's on the it's also ah at like a time where I believe I can't remember where I read it. So take this with a grain of sand. But it said that Warner Brothers is doing their best to essentially buy out the Harry Potter series from JK Rowling. Well, so they can separate her entirely from it. Oh man, that'll be huge if that like actually is true or holds any like merit because man, that would be huge. I i i feel like that's probably not going to happen because I thought that was her freaking a baby. Imagine it happens this month. It's like they just hand JK the cash and just go happy pride.
00:59:41
Speaker
Well, I feel like that would be that would I mean, yeah, imagine it happening this month. Totally. yeah That would be poetry in motion for sure. Also, on top of that, happy pride, everybody. Another thing I forgot to put at the top of this week and last week's episode or last episode as well. Happy pride, everyone. Happy Pride, Trans Lives Matter, yeah fuck JK Rowling. yeah um But yeah, happy for everyone that's excited about this Quidditch Champions game. And also, ah also fuck Nick Merckx apparently. Nick Merckx, who the hell is that? i He is a content creator, streamer, and boy, did he have some does he have some anti-trans comments that
01:00:29
Speaker
made the Twitter rounds from a recent stream. Nick Mark, make sure to blacklist that username and everything from social media. Yeah. All right. That was oof. Anyway, then we got Cuff Bust. This is from the guy who gave us Choo Choo Charles. This is a 20-person player co-op prison break game set for next year. Oh, this was with the like alien creatures, right? like whole Yeah, the colorful koalas is what I want to call them. Okay, yeah. I completely forgot the title of that. Absolute fun. I am so... This this is next year's streamer game. Like you're going to see everybody stream this because yeah it looks that great. It feels it feels very much like, ah for me anyway, like it just screamed Halo custom games, the game.
01:01:24
Speaker
You know, but like chaos dialed up to 11. So, yeah. No, it was fun. It does. We already covered this, but they did have a small Star Wars outlaws teaser for the Ubisoft forward here. It came right after that. So we already talked about that. So no need to talk about that. We dug out a trailer for Deva or Niva. It's from the creator. It's from the creator of Gris or Grease. ah And that comes out later this year. i I am very excited for this. I mean, it literally just looks like Greed, but with combat. And so, I mean, that's just right up my alley. Greed was an amazing game. I played that on my No Scar Plays channel as well. So I'm very excited for Niva. Then we got the game. The game that ah takes forever to play. If you have eight, two or more players. Civilization seven.
01:02:23
Speaker
ah was there now long time come It's getting a gameplay showcase in August, comes out next year. And we also had Sid Meier on the screen to talk about civilization a little bit, um which is really cool. ah Then we got a release date trailer for Blacksmith Wukong coming out August 20th this year. And people are hyping this up, but I don't really know how much gameplay we've seen of this. Yeah, I don't really recall either. I know I think we had an extended gameplay preview at one point. um But beyond that, I don't know how much more info we've got regarding the actual gameplay. But stylistically, I'm very interested. It does look pretty cool. ah We then got a trailer for Once Human, which comes out July 9th. Space Marine 2, I believe they announced this release date at this show at first September 9th.
01:03:20
Speaker
Then we got a pretty good trailer for metaphor re-fantasia Which was the archetype which is flash class reveal trailer ah So showing off all the classes archetypes that you can become in the game For combat and it gave the game comes out October 11th. I'm excited for this. I am probably gonna play it ah because it's very persona vibes, I mean, it's by Atlas by this by the ah the the team that gave us persona and So I'm excited for this. I'm so excited for this. And then we got some Batman news. Yeah. Yeah. A new Arkham game. Arkham Shadow for the beta quest. Which I think that will be cool for VR to be Batman. Sure. But. But. It's VR. It's not readily accessible for everyone.
01:04:17
Speaker
Yeah. And people have wanted to do Arkham game for a while now. And yeah you gave them this. Yeah. With a fall 2024 release date. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, well. Oh, well. Maybe next time, champ. Yeah. Batman not doing so hot this year. No, but then we got something hyped for me. I got excited about this Street Fighter six character pass to where they showed off the next four characters coming to the game with two of them being two massive fighting game characters from S and K. We have Terry Bogart and my sheer and I coming to Street Fighter six.
01:05:17
Speaker
they we They just to put this into perspective, it hasn't been we haven't seen SMK characters since industry fighters since Street Fighter versus SMK. So that's huge that these two are coming into Street Fighter VI. We also have Elena and the first character who will be released as part of character pass two, the return of the villain M. Bison. Now with Hare.
01:05:46
Speaker
like longer hair. I guess he had hair before, but his hat always covered it. But yeah, and Bison makes his return to Street Fighter ah after he died in the fifth game.
01:06:01
Speaker
So yeah, I'm excited for that. it i might ill with With Terry and my being announced, I'm probably going to go reinstall the game and get the character pass to make more Street Fighter 6 YouTube content. ah New videos of that coming soon, hopefully, if I get around to editing it. ah We then got a trailer for Tears of Metal, which is a roguelike co-op hack and slash game. um Another trailer for Dragon Ball, Sparking Zero, which comes out October 11th. And during, um because IGN Live was going on and a bunch of other things, they actually showed off a gameplay demo for Dragon Ball ah this week. um And the character select goes directly into the fight. There's like no transition um from selecting your character to starting the fight. It's all loaded just like that, and it's pretty cool. That was pretty cool to see.
01:06:54
Speaker
Then we got this free-to-play first-person shooter game with an alpha coming in July called Delta Force Hawk Ops And the thing about this Is they got the license To do a story mode a campaign mode based off of the very popular Ridley Scott movie Black Hawk down. Oh Yeah, that's what this was. Yeah, I So cool. Interesting. yeah Such a weird like niche. Yeah. But okay. We then got a new trailer for Fatal Fury City of the Wolves and a release date for early 2025.
01:07:37
Speaker
So people are excited for that and glad to see new stuff coming out about that ah Battle crush was shown off which is getting early access on June 27th Mecha break, which is another mecha fighting game is getting a closed beta August 24th Then we got Blumhouse. Blumhouse Games. Yeah, announcing that they're working on a whole bunch of horror games with a bunch of indie devs. The games that were shown off are Crisple, Theater of the Idols, Grave Seasons, Sleep Awake, Fear the Spotlight, The Simulation, and a game that's simply known as Project C. Also, they confirmed that they're working on the FNAF movie sequel.
01:08:23
Speaker
Yeah, this looked very promising. Like normally, I mean, Blumhouse has kind of hit or miss with its movies, especially lately. A lot more on the miss side for me. But I mean, I'm totally endorsing their endorsement of indie developers. um And I'm super happy that they're getting into the indie horror ah like spotlight. so Yeah, yeah, it's really cool. um Then we got a trailer for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Rita's Rewind, a beat-em-up.
01:08:55
Speaker
retro beat-em-up game hell yes dude i was so like i was like shaking in my seat when i got when i saw this trailer man i was so excited like ever since shredder's revenge came out the tmnt beat-em-up game came out i'm like dude i literally just want this but power rangers because it's perfect i I want there to be like a great Power Rangers game so badly because I just love that IP so dearly. And it looks like this could definitely fulfill that promise. I just want Power Rangers RPM too.
01:09:37
Speaker
Power Rangers RPM is the best Power Rangers series. Nothing else compares to it. Damn. Okay. That's some, that's some hot takes for, for the start of the show. I mean, okay it's, it's the, series it's the one series that's killed the most amount of people. Just saying, just saying like in universe or like a universe in universe. It fucking, it's when you're getting the red Rangers backstory, it shows his brother getting shot out of the sky.
01:10:08
Speaker
You see his blade go down you don't see it crash, but you see it go down and it's implement and you hear the crash What an interesting reason that that is why you love it. The Black Ranger Dylan, he and his sister were kidnapped by the main villain, experimented on, and only he escaped with a loss of his memories. His sister became one of the antagonists of the season. holy The Gold and Silver Ranger were experimented on as children. The Blue Ranger is Scottish. The Green Ranger escapes the Mafia. The Green Ranger escapes the Mafia. And the Yellow Ranger, she also had lost. I can't remember what her stick was, but she went on to play um the Lee Roll and Eye Zombie.
01:10:56
Speaker
Oh, OK. If you remember that show. Yeah, yeah, I remember. Man, I think I got to watch RPM now that you're selling me on it. It is the best one. It is the best one. Hands down. Well, I have yet to agree on that stance. I don't know. Dino Thunder is up there. OK, Dino Thunder is up there. Dino Thunder is also peak. Power Rangers. Dino Thunder's peak, yeah. Dino Thunder is genuinely peak. Like, small tangent, the whole Trent story and the White Ranger story that they have with that is like some of the best writing they've ever done. Hell yeah, dude. And I mean, they're Forever Red. Was it Forever Red? Forever Red was Wild Force. Oh, that was Wild Force. Wild Force is still also pretty good.
01:11:41
Speaker
Wild Force is one of the few that I have not watched yet. Oh, man, dude. I think it's like I'll watch RPM. You watch Wild Force. Okay, bet. I think I need to watch it because I think that's the only I can't remember if the Wild Force was the start of the Disney era era or the end of the Saban era. Okay. Yeah. But it's like, it's right there. But dude, like this game, if this game does well and the devs like stick around to, or like stick around for this game specifically, these, these devs have done so many other like collections and legacy collections and everything's and remakes.
01:12:17
Speaker
um That I really have faith in them with this one But like if this takes off we could be in for a Rangers Renaissance of sorts and what's like different series ah Like teams coming into the game and everything. It would be so cool. Nice. I'd be down for that ah All right with that. We've got our next trailer for deer and boy. wait This looks great too, super wholesome. It's also coming at a great time because my TikTok feed is full of deer.
01:12:51
Speaker
but do Do you care to explain? Yeah, so if you didn't know, there's an anime called My Dear Friend Nokotan. That's... Emphasis on deer? Emphasis on deer, because it smells like a deer. And you just look that up, and if you look up... Oh, God, is it the song? Yeah, here it is. If you look up its opening, there's a one-hour...
01:13:23
Speaker
There's a one hour version that's going around on TikTok, where it's just the, I'm assuming it's the intro part, on loop, and that is all my TikTok feed is right now, is people. What the hell? Okay. It's crazy, it's funny, and I'm like, ah, yeah, dear. Just go check that out and the song will be stuck in your head forever. Great. Then, Kingdom Hearts fans gasped for a brief second when Jeff said the word kingdom. ah When he announced Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 coming out later this year.
01:14:03
Speaker
We were so close. Yeah, so it's so close. Even though like a Twitter live, he said that there wasn't going to be any Kingdom Hearts stuff at the show. So like, I don't know why someone would say who was about to announce Kingdom Hearts news. So. But then we got a new trailer with a bit of gameplay reveal for Slitherhead, the game with the created with the creator of Silent Hill who's working on this. That looked pretty gnarly. Looks creepy. It looks yeah creepy as fuck. And I'm probably not going to play it because I'm just creeped out. But that's how that's how creepy it is. We're all yeah creepy fans out there. Well, you might want to rephrase that, but yeah fans of creepy games. There we go. Yeah, we got there. I was going to say we're on your creeps out there. But no, that means something else entirely. It comes out November 8th.
01:15:02
Speaker
then Okay, here we go. Out of last field baby, the best game that we showed at the entire event. Killer Bean. Game of the year winner already. Never before has a game one game of the year in its announcement trailer, but this year it happened. Ladies and gentlemen, based on the hit movie Killer Bean, the video game Killer Bean.
01:15:31
Speaker
I, my jaw was on the floor. I was speechless during this entire dude. I have never like, I've seen like gifts and images of killer beam before. So I like knew about him through the site guys, but like I had never heard of him prior and I was just like flabbergasted the entire trailer. It was amazing. I can't remember who I watched. that Somebody did like an analysis video of Killer Bean, and that's how I knew about it. And then, of course, the the gifts like the dies of cringe and yeah all the other things. And the when I saw this, I'm like, oh, this is game of the year already. Yeah, it comes. It's coming out in early access this summer. You know, I'm going to stream this. Oh, absolutely. Yeah, you have to.
01:16:22
Speaker
I am so ready for this. I'm sold, man. That's a preorder right there. My body is Reggie. Yeah. We then got a trailer for Karen, which is from The Game Bakers. ah And then a trailer for a game called a wander stop Which is by the creator of the Stanley parable and it's coming out later this year and this looks super cool ah You're basically an adventurer that's working at a tea shop and you want to go out there But it's like you get these like really dark thoughts that are like trying to consume you and shit and it looks really fucking cool Mm-hmm. Yeah, I agree
01:17:03
Speaker
We then got a trailer for Unknown Nine Awakening coming out this fall. Inotria, the last song. And the first descendant, a brand new looter shooter coming out July 2nd. And then out came Intersloth, the creators of Among Us. announcing a really cool fund called Outer Sloth, um which is set to help fund indie developers. And then they showed us all the games that are currently being funded by the project. Mars First Logistics, Battlesuit Aces, Boss Field Archives, One BTN Bosses, Rogue Eclipse, and Project Dosa.
01:17:44
Speaker
Yeah, dude, i I loved this segment. um I love that they're just reinvesting into more indie developers um just as like a horizontal kind of investment rather than like trying to become a publisher or anything. ah You could feel the love and care. um And like the games themselves looked promising as well. I had already wishlisted ah Mars First Logistics before um this like showcase and everything. That one looked really fun. um But like all of them looked great. like One Button Bosses, Rogue Eclipse, Project Dosa, they all look very promising. So I love this. It's great. Yeah. ah But of course, Innersoft wasn't quite done yet as they gave us the first official trailer for the Among Us TV show.
01:18:32
Speaker
and the rest of the cast. And now we have the full cast list. Dan Stevens is blue. Patton Oswalt is white. Deborah Wilson is yellow. Wayne Knight is lime. Wayne Knight might not be a familiar name because that's the guy who was in Space Jam. Okay. Uh, Liv Houston is black. Kimiko Glenn is cyan. Phil Lamar is brown. Ashley Johnson is purple. Elijah Wood is green. Randall Park is red. And Yvette Nicole Brown is orange.
01:19:12
Speaker
Yeah, this should be ah this should be an interesting show for sure. This is going to be interesting, that's for sure. um We then got a gameplay trailer of Shadow ah for Sonic X Shadow Generations. And then also and like an eight minute gameplay trailer was dropped of just Shadow gameplay um afterwards. It looks pretty good from what I've seen. It comes out October 25th. I'm excited to play that. Yeah, new Sonic stuff. Yeah, do so it's remit the re generations on modern hardware plus Shadow stuff. Were we Eden? We Eden. Yeah. Then we got some Dune Awakening news. ah The MMO. It's got some stuff going on. ah i'm not i i I don't understand Dune.
01:20:05
Speaker
i I just don't it's not my wheelhouse at all. That's okay. That's okay, Tony. We we love you and accept you anyway. Thanks, man ah Then we got trailer for battle aces a new RTS and they kind of went in depth of that a bit I mean if you're into RTS games looks cool um Then we got some news from the finals a new map out for season 2 three and a whole bunch of other things are going to the time warped to to Japan and ah the office middle manager can fight the samurai. Perfect.
01:20:48
Speaker
And then what was super cool to get announced Alan wake to first is getting a physical release and collector's edition this fall and They announced the DLC night Springs three a three episode expansion Available now you can play it now. It's only like 20 bucks. It's uh Looks great You play as a waitress with a shotgun, a TV producer or something, and then the main protagonist of Control also has a DLC episode of this as well.
01:21:25
Speaker
Yeah, it looked pretty ah pretty interesting. I unfortunately missed the vote on Alan Wake 2. I was hoping to play it last ah last fall when it came out, but it just never got around to it. So I was hoping to play it too, but I did not get around to it. I'm going to play American Nightmare next when I do get around to that, and then I'm going to get Alan Wake 2 and play through that. Is that a part of the remaster at all? American. very original Yeah. New American nightmare is its own thing still. OK, it's on it's on it's on Epic. I don't know if it's on Steam, but I have it on Epic because it was discounted on Epic. OK, so I'm going to play it through that because I played through the original and now I got to play through that one.
01:22:08
Speaker
ah Then in a huge announcement which ah to what I understand about this New World Aeternum this is essentially they are killing the MMO part of New World and just making it an RPG with this release as ah coming testing As it's coming to console and also that that from that's what I'm getting from Because a lot of people were like not happy with this and the news that came out afterwards about this. So yeah, a New World. Coming to consoles October 15th with Aeternum. And also changing its thing up a bit. Okay. Coolio. Now we got a small Honkai Star Rail trailer because they had its...
01:22:59
Speaker
Update video come out. I believe it was earlier that day announcing all the new stuff coming um But they are now this got to showcase something new um I believe because it's been a while since I played it and we don't have a hoyo report this week I believe from what was announced slash what was recently added is the star Blazer. Star trailer. the Your main character has unlocked their third version of themself, where you can switch their elemental damage and like how they play.

Game Trailers and Announcements

01:23:33
Speaker
There's their normal type, which is very DPS centric. Their fire type, which is more of a tank stance type thing. And now they've added their imaginary version, which I actually don't know how it plays at all.
01:23:47
Speaker
I don't know if it's like a healer or if it's a caster or how it plays. But they also announced that March 7th, my favorite waifu from the game is also getting a new outfit and will affect her. I don't i don't know if it's going to affect her like as a character with like a new element or whatnot, but she's getting a new outfit and it looks super cute and I'm like, yay waifu. Then we got a trailer for Dark and Darker, a free to play medieval dungeon crawler, which is PVPV. So everyone's out to kill you. Great. We then got a new trailer for Konitsugami Path of the Gods coming out July 19th. A new trailer for Hyper Lightbreaker, an adventure co-op game. And then Party Animals Baby, we're getting some updates. New superpowers are getting added to the game and also a couple of new modes. Always fun to see that. I love Party Animals. Yeah, that's awesome. It's a great game. It is.
01:24:44
Speaker
ah And then Skate got a really weird trailer where they showed off this thing about this business called M Corp and It's basically it's that one comedian Oh, right. Yeah. Tim something. from I think you should leave. Yeah. ah He's standing out front saying how great the company is when you see all the files being shredded in the back, people packing up things, people getting fired on the spot and all of that stuff. um And then it goes back to Robinson. Thank you.
01:25:20
Speaker
ah And then it goes back to Jeff. It's like, hey guys, let's ah give you guys some skate news. And then it goes back to that. And it's like, oh, this was a tease for a new map coming to skate. And the console play test is coming this fall. So yeah, that's ah that it was so it was a unique, probably one of the more unique trailers we saw the entire show.
01:25:43
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. Then we got pal world news, the Sakura Jima updates, which is adding a whole new island and pals and raids and all of that stuff coming out June 27. And I could care less about this. How world is just a glorified survival crafting game with with monster catching elements. It's just Ark, but the dinosaurs are cute cuter and will possibly rip off Pokemon, allegedly. They're looking into that lawsuit still we still. They haven't been sued for it yet, so gotta still say allegedly.
01:26:27
Speaker
listen ah And then an announcement, Valoridge is coming to console.
01:26:35
Speaker
yeah Okay, cool. That's that's cool. The limited data starts June 14th, but I'm just gonna say Are they gonna have their own dedicated lobbies? Cuz if not a PC player, baby Crossplay Valorant and there goes the console player base. They're all gone. Yeah, cuz Playing a controller to master keyboard with a game like this is You need precision
01:27:04
Speaker
um Then there was a brief shout out for Yong Ye because he was in the crowd and he's also in Inside Out 2 as a video game character, so they showed off a scene from Inside Out 2. That was oh okay, I guess. yeah And then Supercell had a very long trailer for their new game, Squad Busters. That featured a bunch of celebrity cameos like Ken Jeong and Will Ardette and I think ah Chris Hemsworth too um Boy that was weird it was weird um then Muzzer Hunter Wilds we got a new gameplay trailer for that game looks good still and Then the show ended
01:27:51
Speaker
with Phantom Blade Zero with a gameplay trailer for you. And it looks all right. But that's really all it looks for. And that was it. That was that was it. It kind of just ended with a e and not a woo. Yeah, not a one more thing type. and Yeah. And just said in a Twitter live that there wouldn't be a one more thing. And that's with shows like the It's always like with the Game Awards, it makes sense to not have that because the last thing of the night is the game of the year. It makes more sense with the Game Awards to to be done like that with stuff like Summer Game Fest and Gamescom Opening Night Live. You need that one more thing.
01:28:41
Speaker
Yeah, I'm wondering if it was just a matter of he just wasn't, they weren't able to secure any like big, big announcements and they were all just kind of keeping like the the publishers and devs were keeping all the big things for themselves. So who knows? But yeah, it was an alright show. It was. They can't all be killers, but there was still some good stuff in here. There was some good stuff. It was a lot. It it was a very quantity versus quality type thing with like a lot of stuff being meh. But like there was a lot of stuff that like for everyone that it's like there was probably like one or two, even three games that you're probably looking forward to that they showed off. Yeah. Yeah.
01:29:20
Speaker
um Overall, I gave the show a c ah C C C C plus. Yeah, yeah, it was. I mean, overall, honestly, I would maybe put it, although we did get Power Rangers and Killer Bean this show. So I mean, it probably does take second place. You know what? I do. I do got to give it a B for Killer Bean. Yeah, Killer Bean really yeah just upgrades that whole show overall. It does. It absolutely does. Honestly, that should have been the one more thing. but Honestly, I think if they did that as the one more thing, people would have lost their minds and would have been talked about as like Summer Game Fest just, to you see, voice critical. Yeah, and Summer Game Fest just announced Killer Bean the game.
01:30:07
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. I am rock hard right now, as you can clearly see by my white t-shirt and long hair. So

Xbox Showcase Highlights

01:30:17
Speaker
yeah, it probably still does take second place, but yeah, quantity over quality. And yeah. But now we get on to what is arguably The best show that happened this weekend, and not only but just the best show this weekend, the best show that this company has had in the past five years. Yeah, probably. The Xbox Showcase. Holy mother of God, Xbox did it.
01:30:55
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, really, when you buy up like a good third of the competition and like dogpile everything into one show, that really does make a difference, I think. Yes. um But. I mean, even still, having said that, like it was still like hit after hit, even though it is just like, yeah, they just do have a ton of studios now. Yeah. um Those studios were still delivering. so They are. um so Starting off, it was the reveal trailer for Black Ops 6.
01:31:31
Speaker
The campaign and then they announced some smaller things before they got into the bigger showcase for it at the end of the show It's gonna be coming out on all consoles ah And versions they'll all release Simultaneously which we have not seen for a Call of Duty in a while It'll be on games past on day one as well. It is releasing October 25th. Then we got the first hype trailer of the show, Doom The Dark Ages, coming out next year. And this looks sick. This looks so good. The chainsaw shield, the giant mech, the freaking dragon with laser wings. Yeah, it's like the the cloak, the fur cloak.
01:32:17
Speaker
Like, come on, medieval hell, medieval Doom Slayer. Hell, it's it's this is going to be great. And it's going to be it gives you enough time to play both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. Oh, yes, I still haven't played them. Oh, dude. Oh, yeah you got to fix that. You got to fix that so bad. I know. um I I adore both of those games. I really, really want it was a bit of a bittersweet reminder, unfortunately, because like with all of the drama and controversy that happened between it and it's software. ah Like, I really hope they can mend that kind of
01:32:57
Speaker
like break ah between that relationship because like Mick Gordon is like the soul of those games effectively like those soundtracks are just unparalleled and I really hope at the very least even if he doesn't I mean obviously I don't think he probably will be back for the Dark Ages but like if they can mend that relationship and then hopefully maybe pave a future forward together like I really want to see him like be able to like fully embrace the Doom games still um and not have it soured. So fingers crossed. But I mean, I'm still very excited for the Dark Ages. So yeah, what a great, great first big game to start start the showcase. Yeah. Then we got a new trailer for State of Decay 3, but we didn't get any other details about the game, just the trailer. ah Then the most.
01:33:53
Speaker
controversial trailer of the entire show where if you look at on YouTube and you have the dislike ah Extension on YouTube added back in if you have the chrome extension or opera GX extension Dragon age the veil guard Very it I'm just gonna double check where it's at right now for dislikes and Um, because it, uh... Uh, that's the official gameplay. I want the reveal trailer, which has... Uh, so, on its site, or on its own YouTube channel, it, uh, has 232,000 dislikes. Whoa. Um, I believe on the first channel that it was released on, it has over 800,000 dislikes. Why?
01:34:51
Speaker
So from what I understand, when you take comparing this trailer to the other Dragon Age trailers, it's very it's a very different vibe and they just people just didn't like it. again trust Now, as a guy who's looking on from the outside of Dragon Age because I never played a Dragon Age game, I can't really give a very, like, whether or not that's a fair assumption because I so i i just don't know. I just do not really know. I don't we really know what gameplay is. They did show off some gameplay after the fact.
01:35:29
Speaker
And the people from the people who have been watching that said it just looks ah a bit uninspired and bland compared to like Inquisition and origins. I'm like, OK, fair. Again, I'm kind of just taking your guys's word for it because never played the game myself. But yeah, that's ah where that stands right now. Interesting. OK, yeah, I didn't even realize. Yeah, I'm very much on the outside as well. And like i was actually I thought this was like maybe would be like a more triumphant like win for BioWare like after all of the losses they've had as a plate. I thought, like oh, this does actually look maybe like promising. I mean, look it's kind of a like CG trailer. so
01:36:18
Speaker
It's more of, and again, it's you I feel like it is a bit of like you're comparing apples to oranges with like trailers, but like with the other trailers, it's like you see the group, like it's more gritty, seeing them fight dragons, slaying dragons and whatnot and all that stuff. And it's like, okay, fair. And it's like the vibe is very different. Mm-hmm cuz it feels very much more Guardians of the galaxy s with this trailer, right? Okay. Yeah, I will say that Cuz it really did feel the very Guardians like Okay But again
01:36:56
Speaker
Not really my place to say what that's just what I thought of the trailer. I don't know what the gate how the game will be on release or whatnot. So ah hopefully the game is good for the Dragon Age fans because I know y'all have been waiting for a long time for a new one. So hopefully the game is good on release and keep being vocal about it because again, being vocal can help change things because it changed the Sonic movie. It's changed other things. So be vocal about it, but also be respectful about be your your being vocal. Yeah. Yeah. Don't just throw toxic comments out yeah into the ether. That's not productive or helpful or nice. Yep.
01:37:41
Speaker
ah Then we got a DLC announcement set for star field the shattered space DLC Right. Yeah, looks very horror-esque a little bit seems cool and they also put out some new content. That's out now for the game ah Cool. I didn't play star field glad glad it's getting um like attention. Yeah, like updates and stuff. Yeah ah And then Fallout stuff happened. Fallout 76, specifically, the Skyline Valley expansion, um which is adding Vault 63 to the game and a map expansion, the first map expansion to the game, actually. And they're also making ghouls a playable race, which I think is really cool.
01:38:25
Speaker
That is cool. And it makes total sense after all of the hype with the show. Yeah. Yeah. Very excited to see that. Then was probably the coolest trailer and had me go when I saw the trailer. Is that Clive Ross field expedition 30 free coming out next year? This is in a month. This is an RPG. ah Turn-based RPG with a button command inputs like Paper Mario um Mario and Luigi at type things but like like ah a proper like darker setting for it and the main one of the main characters is voiced by mr. Clive Ross field from Final Fantasy 16 himself Ben star Yeah, I'm probably gonna play this game when it comes out next year.
01:39:14
Speaker
And I saw a lot of hype for us surrounding it, which was was great to see. Then we got a new trailer for South of Midnight. A little bit of gameplay was revealed, too. It's coming out next year. And I'm just going to say, that's one big crocodile. Or Gator. I think it's a Gator. I'm very hyped for this game. Yeah. ah the the The animation they showed in the trailer felt a little weird. like You see, I think it felt weird because it's fair I got a lot of like Spider-Verse animators. I was just going to say, like it it didn't even feel like intentional. like It felt like stuttery in a like a wrong way.
01:39:53
Speaker
Oh, OK. But maybe I don't know what it was. Maybe it was just like the showcase or something. I still very am very into like the art style and the aesthetic and everything. The southern setting. I love the like full embrace of that whole aesthetic. um And it looked very promising. And I mean, the gameplay, we didn't see a ton of it. Yeah, it was very low. I was mostly mostly like traversal and movement. Yeah. But the world looks really fascinating. The characters look really fun and intriguing. So, yeah, I'm definitely into it. So big fat gators there in the south. I just like that. ah We then got a new trailer for World of Warcraft, the war within. And.
01:40:40
Speaker
Immediate ick for me because it's a blizzard not because it's world of war even though Even though world of war craft has also not been doing good ah War the war within I'm gonna say it nicely. This is really their last chance with modern Wow to really fucking redeem it Comes out August 26 then Hype stuff we got a new trailer for Bella. You're solid Delta. Oh, yeah steak snake eater. Oh Full gameplay trailer. Yeah, essentially. It's ah looking like a faithful fucking remake. Mm-hmm. Which is great.
01:41:20
Speaker
Yeah, man, it it does look very, very interesting. It was very weird, though, because like the trailer itself, like they just played the trailer, which was good. Yeah. Like no announcement window, no details or anything. Yeah, still nothing else. No other details, but it's like literally just dropped the trailer and that's it. There's some more food for you. I think how it's gonna go. I think we're gonna see a Metal Gear Solid Collection 2 release and then we're gonna see Delta release. I generally think so because you have four, you could put five in there if you want to. um And you could also put in Rising Revengeance. Right. And maybe some of the like ah PSP games or something. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. I think you could do that.
01:42:05
Speaker
um We thank God trailer for season 13 of Sea of Thieves comes out July 25th I really didn't pay attention to like everything that they an announced with that one cuz it's like it doesn't have a dragon I can tell you that no't dragon though. Yeah Then we got trailer for Flint's lock the siege of dawn which comes out July 18th Then a trailer for Asia mythology retold, which is a remake to Asia mythology coming out September 4th and then Another hype trailer came out. The remake gameplay trailer for Perfect Dark, a game that we haven't seen in two years, I think. That was when they showed off the first trailer for it at the Game Awards two years ago.
01:42:52
Speaker
Well, nows and trailer I feel like is pretty deliberate. But this one, we got we got a lot of stuff showcased with this one. i know Yeah, dude, it was like full gameplay. Full gameplay and everything. It's like, okay, okay, go off, perfect arc, go off, go off. We see you. um But it was just that no other details of a release date or anything. Then we got Diablo 4 DLC vessel of hatred coming out October 8th Number two, I I mean look I really love the CG trailers they Yes, they are good at that They are good at that and it was fucking creepy as fuck. Yeah Yeah Then we got each other for fable
01:43:44
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Yeah, we did. We did. And we got to meet ah the retired hero, Eugene, I think is what his name was. Yeah, that sounds right. It was it was a cool little trailer i Showing off. It was kind of like the first trailer we got where we had the guy from ah The IT t crowd Yeah as the Giants. Yeah um But it seems a lot more in it seemed interesting. I'm excited to play fable again with this one. So Yeah, but there was no real definitive gameplay footage. It was like oh, here's like a little bit in
01:44:24
Speaker
Engine footage of like what is probably gameplay but not from the gameplay perspective Right. But we still got some stuff. um Then we got a trailer for a game called Fragpunk, which is a 5v5 shooter, but you each you get like random cards to power up your stuff ah to make it a bit more unique. Then we got shaer for winterboro a a 2025 release date where you play as a mouse and it's a crafting survival game. And at the end of the trailer, when you get across the bridge to see your auntie, she gets taken by an owl.
01:44:58
Speaker
Yeah, I laughed out loud at that part. Yeah, it was pretty funny. funny But I'm very hyped for that game. It looks so wholesome. um And then what seemed to crawl out of ah the your parents box of 80s slash 90s memorabilia. Mixtape ah got a trailer and basically think of a teen movie in the 80s and 90s. That's this. Yeah. I am very here for this game. I am so excited for it. The art style looks great. I mean, the soundtrack is awesome. Yes. um I'm very intrigued to see how the gameplay shapes up for it. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see the least with how they do that, but is it looks good. It looks good.
01:45:47
Speaker
Yeah, looks great. And then Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, got a brand new trailer showing all of the more occupations you could take in this game and do. You could be an aerial advertiser, a VIP charter pilot, commercial flight pilot, agriculture far agriculture flying, search and rescue, cargo ops, firefighting, and many more that you could do in Flight Simulator 2024 coming out November 19th. But it you know what it doesn't have? Please don't do it. I know exactly where you're going with it. It doesn't have... Please, God, Tony, don't do it. It doesn't have any cars. It does not have any cars. You are correct. That's why I put it in a game called Microsoft Flight Simulator. Unless you wanted a flying car, like the Harry Potter flying car.
01:46:44
Speaker
i wouldn' Hey, a flying car. You know what? Microsoft flights them at a flying car. Just do it. Sure. Yeah. Start adding more like movie planes, too. Yeah, that'd be cool. I don't know how many movie planes there are, but I mean, you could do Top Gun, although I feel like they might have done a Top Gun. I mean, they got the military jets in there, so like I think you get that kind of already. Yeah, it's true. But yeah, add a flying car in there so I could fly it straight into the Pentagon.
01:47:13
Speaker
Let's get on with the show! Elder Scrolls Online! They announced the Gold Road expansion June 18th is when that releases. It's celebrating 10 years of the game. ah keep it Keep on going on Elder Scrolls Online, do your thing. um We then got a really cool trailer for Life is Strange Double Exposure! A new Life is Strange game, but but the first so direct sequel to a a Life is Strange game. Oh, interesting. Because we get to play as Max again from the very first Life is Strange. Oh, cool. So we return to that and it's basically, hey, you can see two worlds in access, two worlds, or one of them, your friend is dead, and the other one, your friend's alive. Solve the murder! And yeah, looks great. And then, what looked really great, a brand new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
01:48:08
Speaker
where we got to see the German guy do the little cartoon dance as he was mocking American cartoons. Yeah. Yeah, that's what you're like, I can't replace you. It's so it was it was a great show. Go watch. trail you have It was good. I yeah when they finally showed off that first gameplay trailer, I think it was was it last year or just earlier this year? Maybe I think it was earlier this year that that' we got the details for it. Right. Yeah. um I was a little hesitant. um I was very excited initially for like machine games to tackle an indie game. ah not Not that kind of indie game, but an Indiana Jones game.
01:48:49
Speaker
um but the gameplay didn't really sell me at first. And I was really also just really put off by them embracing Harrison Ford's likeness. Like I was really kind of hoping for them to do kind of a hard reset or like recast and just go with someone else entirely and just make their own. original indie, you know? um But this trailer actually, I kind of settled into it more. I mean, kind of getting more used to the fact that this is what it is now. um I was able to enjoy it and embrace it more. And I mean, it feels like an indie movie, like it just through and through. um As far as like more details on gameplay and stuff goes, well, it'll be remain it'll remain to be seen. Yeah. As far as the mood and everything, I definitely think they're nailing it.
01:49:39
Speaker
Definitely We then got a trailer for mecha break coming out next year and Wu Chang fallen feathers also coming out next year and then we got a little bit of an updated trailer for about the game being worked on by Oblivion I think Or of subsidsidian obsidian obsidian Obsidian, yeah. Obsidian who worked on New Vegas. Yeah. And looking good so far from the new stuff they showed in that. So that's exciting. That comes out this later this year. We then got a trailer for a game called Adamfall, which is a gay, very Wolfenstein meets BioShock vibes.
01:50:27
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, agreed. I'm very interested to see more details on this. We also got another trailer for Assassin's Creed Shadows, which again, Ubisoft covered more in detail. And then we got a new trailer for Stalker 2, Heart of Chernobyl, which comes up September 5th. Then they announced that there's a brand new Digital Series X console coming. So only Digital, no disk drive on it, but it's a Series X. Which I think is a good choice to make. ah More storage compared to the series s um It makes the series s a bit irrelevant though, unless you like Well, aren't gonna play on one point standpoint. It's still a good accessible console like entry-level wise
01:51:14
Speaker
um But yeah, it is ah the physical media ah nerd in me ah like dies a little bit ah because like they really are embracing the like digital age of gaming, unfortunately. so like And then also, like from a Blu-ray collector standpoint, like the Series X digital version, like i mean it's only for games now. You can't even like have it as a dual-purpose DVD Blu-ray player, which sucks. Oh, yeah. but Well, they'll have its market somewhere. I'm sure it'll butll they'll test the waters and we'll see how it does. Yeah, indeed. And then to end the show, they gave us one more. Yeah. And boy, was it a big one. The return of Gears of War. E Day, a prequel to the whole series.
01:52:16
Speaker
A young Marcus and a young Dom. And it looks, I mean, it's just the trailer that they gave us. They didn't give us a release date or anything like that. But yeah people got excited for this. This is, yeah man I think it's going to be great. i'm happy for I'm happy for Gears fans because they it looks like they're doing a bit of a return to form with this one, ah going a lot more gritty, ah down to earth. um It sounds like they're going to be making the ah like base enemies of the first game a lot more formidable and like terrifying, which is really cool, a cool kind of spin on it. So yeah.
01:52:58
Speaker
Yeah, very exciting. And that was the Xbox Direct, but immediately after it, it was the Black Ops 6 Direct to give us more details on Black Ops 6. And here's the important stuff that you should know. um The campaign is taking place in the early 90s. ah where the the the main protags get excommunicated from the FBI or CIA. I can't remember which one. I believe it's the CIA. um And so they go rogue to fight a shadow organization within the United States of America. um And also,
01:53:34
Speaker
fun thing about the Fun fact about this game, this is like the first second like the the first one that like a lot of Black Ops fans are like around, who are like maybe slightly older than us, Nick, have actually lived through. Yeah, exactly. like yeah don't know the I'd be very fascinated to see what the like demographic like pie chart is of like not only Call of Duty games, but I guess Black Ops games specifically for like how many are like of the older crowd yeah that did live through it. That'd be very interesting to see.
01:54:08
Speaker
We got a new protagonist called Troy Marshall. He'll be working alongside everybody's favorite James Woods. James Woods. Is it James? No, it's not James. Was it Woods? Agent Woods. He's back. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. ah And so you'll be working together alongside the and ah the other characters that you'll meet through the game. um They're introducing a brand new omni movement system, which lets you sprint in any and all direction. Mm hmm. It also gives way to new combos to slides and dives. um They've got an intelligent movement toggle to auto mantle, auto jump and auto duck under objects.
01:54:51
Speaker
new hit boxes to trigger death animations. That was really cool that they got they they showed us that. I'm like, oh, wow, that's really fucking sick. Customizable HUDs. And the the big thing that a lot of people are excited for, they're returning to the old prestige system. of good old black, early black ops days, where it's 10 prestigious that you can hit, and then the prestige master system, which expands that like thousand fold.
01:55:23
Speaker
So it's insane. It's insane. ah They announced that they're making 16 new maps for multiplayer and then zombies. They're continuing the Dark Aether storyline and there will be two maps available at launch with the worldwide multiplayer reveal happening August 28th. And that's that was basically the entire Xbox show in Call of Duty Black Ops Direct. A very solid show, the best show of the weekend, and it's an easy A. Yeah, for sure. It was it was very good.
01:55:57
Speaker
um I think front loaded for me personally, ah just in terms of what I was interested in. But I mean, a few things towards the end still kept my interest. And I mean, like, the Gears of War announcement is ah enough motivation, I think, for me to finally actually check that series out because that's one I haven't have played before. So um lots of stuff in there for sure ah that made it a very well-rounded show and definitely took the crown, I think, this year. Now, of course, we do still have one massive direct that has not happened yet. The Nintendo Direct. We actually don't know an exact date. However, rumors are saying June 18th. Okay. ah So next week we could be covering the Nintendo Direct alongside with the launch of Dawn Trail. But who knows?
01:56:54
Speaker
Only time will tell. Only time will tell. So be sure to tune in next week for for that.

Gaming History and Anniversaries

01:56:59
Speaker
Well, with that, though, it's time for us to start closing things out and go right on into the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And to kick it off, we got this week in gaming history. Here's what happened in the past from June 17th to 30th. Starting with some major events, on June 21st, 2004, Nintendo begins releasing the Game Boy Advance cartridges with up to 90 minutes of animated television shows. The first cartridges are for 30-minute Pokemon shows. Oh, that's fun.
01:57:36
Speaker
good old watching a Pokemon episode on your Game Boy over and over again until you memorize every word and screen and cell that you start saying it like a cult to your parents and they're like, okay, we need a new one. And your screen starts getting burned in from the cartridge repeating again and again. Exactly, exactly. On the 22nd, 2001, Nintendo released the Game Boy Advance in the United Kingdom. On June 27, 2011, the U.S. Supreme Court rules 7-2 that California's law restricting sale or rental of violent video games is unconstitutional. And on June 28, 1972, Atari Inc. is formed by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney.
01:58:28
Speaker
And in game birthdays, June 17th, Sonic Adventure DX turns 21. On June 19th, Sonic Adventure 2 turns 23. Also on June 19th, the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D turns 13. June 21st, Destroy All Humans turns 19. June 22nd, Transformers War for Cybertron turns 14. June 23rd is the big birthday for Sonic the Hedgehog as he will be turning 33. Wow. june Also on the 23rd, Super Mario 64's Japan release will be turning 28.
01:59:19
Speaker
June 26 Pokemon battle revolution turns 17 Which is crazy to think that I played a lot of that one. Yeah, that's insane June 29th banjo kazooie turns 26 years old Oh ah Also, this one's a great one. Spider-Man 2 on June 29th, the piece of time Spider-Man 2. That turns 20 years old. That's crazy. That makes you think like Insomniac could have really taken advantage of that anniversary and like pushed Spider-Man 2 a little bit further ah to take advantage of it.
02:00:11
Speaker
Because there, Spider-Man 2 came out last year. Yeah. June 30th, Outrun turns 37.
02:00:23
Speaker
Wow. And on June 30th as well, Perfect Dark turns 24. sort Very good timing. Also, we interrupt this bonus level to bring you breaking news. Terraria's creator is pleased to announce a brand new refund policy. Beat him in PvP solo and you'll get your money back for any reason. No questions asked. Oh my God. That's fantastic. ah He has announced this on Twitter.
02:00:55
Speaker
um Yeah. Okay. That's fantastic. Yeah, good to know. um We now go to top five and your top five reveals from all of the showcases combined. All of them combined. All your headlineed what are your top five reveals from this Summer Game Fest weekend. Oh, no. Okay, that changes things because i I thought it might have just been from the one showcase. No, I'm talking about from all all all of them.
02:01:28
Speaker
a summer game festival because it's the whole weekend really that yeah yeah uh oh man so uh it might not change that much actually don't let it look at it i really think i might only have to add uh Doom the Dark Ages in there. Like I think so. I'm going to I'm going to honorable mention. I'm just going to cheat a little bit. Go for it. Absolutely. The Blumhouse games announcement. I really liked the fact that they're they're diversifying into the game space. And I think they're perfect as as hit or miss as their movies are, I think.
02:02:09
Speaker
It's a great thing to be able to invest into the indie game community. um So that's my honor honorable mention. But number five will be Killer Bean, the game of the year winner for 2024. That just took me by surprise and the world by surprise, really. Yeah. ah Number four would probably be the Outer Sloth announcement as well. but Very similar feelings ah to how I feel about the Blumhouse Games stuff. I just love the fact that they're invest reinvesting into more indie games and the fact that all of the indie games they announced also look really good. Even though a couple of them were only like screenshots for now, I still really liked the vibe and the art style and everything. So really love that. I'm really happy for Outer Sloth and all of the developers that they have funded.
02:02:56
Speaker
um Number three will be Niva, the Grease Studio a game. I loved the art style of that game, loved the kind of message and story behind it and everything. And they're adding combat, so that looks really fun. ah Number two will go to Doom the Dark Ages because I am a big, big fan of Doom and I am so hyped for that one. And then Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers red just Rewind is going to take my number one spot. I am so, so happy and so hyped for this one. This could be like the first like truly great Power Rangers game we've gotten. um And yeah, I'm just very excited for it. So, yeah. Nice. And now also I'm thinking about Head to Head.
02:03:44
Speaker
We've put we put all of them against each other. The Sony State of Play versus the Xbox Showcase versus Summer Game Fest versus the Ubisoft Forward Event. The big ones. Because it would be it would be unfair if we put the Devolver Digital one in there because it would win yeah by a landslide. Yeah. So, OK, is it all four against each other? Yeah. Or who wins? Like a bracket. No, no, no, it's all four. It's a Battle Royale. Okay, I mean, it's got to be Xbox, right? Like, these Sony is state of play, really. who well Although, you know, Astrobot did a lot of heavy lifting. Honestly, like, that would actually be in my top five, probably, as well. Like, I'm very excited for Astrobot. i yeah That looks great.
02:04:32
Speaker
it looks great But yeah, I don't know. Maybe just because, like, I'm very mid on ah Star Wars Outlaws currently. So Ubisoft still might take the bottom spot and then Sony State of Play, then probably Summer Game Fest. But yeah, Xbox definitely wins. Okay. All righty. And now we get to move on to Tony's game poll. So Nick, this is a poll that we have going for every season going forward. Um, and this year season's poll, if you could, if Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add any Disney Pixar world, what world would you like to see added? Oh man. Disney Pixar world. Disney and or Pixar. Yeah. Uh, Hmm.
02:05:21
Speaker
You know what? Since it's technically Disney, I'm going to say High School Musical. OK. The Disney Channel original film High School Musical. High School Musical. That would be an interesting one, you see. Sora has to help ah Troy Bolton ah make it to the the end of year ah play show. You got to also help him win a basketball game. Yeah. yeah the heartless are interfering yeah and it all takes place all takes place in a high school it'll be very like persona uh esk except it's like joy you know that there has to be there has to be a beautiful yeah how are the doofy gonna look in that world that's what i want to know
02:06:12
Speaker
I think, uh, like... Like, are they just like an actual dumpster dump? Sharpay will take Donald and dress him up in all pink. Or Donald could be Sharpay's brother. And then little Goofy could just be, could replace, uh, Corbin Blue. Maybe. And be on the basketball team. Of course, Troy. You gotta pick a basketball. You gotta to get your head in the game. oh i guess
02:06:41
Speaker
Oh, it's perfect. Oh, my God. Oh, that would be hilarious. Oh, my God. Disney doesn't take advantage of their smaller IPs enough, I don't think, although we did get high school musical, the musical, the TV show. So, I mean, yeah. True. All right. We now go to our upcoming deals of the week of the week, the week, the week. ah We got some deals. we We got some steals of a deal for you. Let me just get this open because I forgot to add the other. So starting off, Epic's free games are currently available until June 20th. Are idle champions of the forgotten realms, the dungeons and dragons.
02:07:28
Speaker
a Pack for it or whatever and read out to those are both available until the June 20th and available after that from June 20th to June 27th Rumble Club, which ah which includes a free game of the week bonus and freshly frosted which is a game about donuts. Oh Hell yeah, I'll check that out. Love me a donut. I Have a lot of donuts in my fridge um but believe it this My parents got back from Vegas and they brought like four boxes of donuts home from Pink Box Donuts and we still have donuts in the fridge. It's a lot of donuts.
02:08:10
Speaker
um Other sales going on the capcom mid-year deals on steam are going on until the 21st The civilization franchise deals are on on steam until the 21st There's a cat quest franchise sale on steam until june 26 Which you should get i've flattened the first cat quest in the playing of the second one right now And the third one comes out very soon. So you should play cat quest um GameCon Canada, by the way, this is a a convention that's happening like June 14th to 16th, but there's gonna be some sales and stuff on Steam ah or an event page for it on Steam with all the games that are showcasing at the event ah there too. So check that out. That actually just happened, um but the event page might still be up.
02:08:59
Speaker
PlayStation's got some hot deals until June 19th, and the Summer Game Fest deals on PlayStation until June 29th, and a Minecraft sale on PlayStation until June 22nd. And I say 9th, I meant 19th. And also, Tell Me Why is free for the rest of June um for Pride Month on Steam and Xbox. Oh, nice. The achievement of the week is in Shin Megami Tensei V, Vengeance, Almighty Fixer, which is to complete 90 subquests. And the game of the week is Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble. Nice. And lastly, super monkey our like our guest game recommendation, Nick, if there's a game old or new that you would recommend to the audience, what game would it be?
02:09:48
Speaker
Oh, ah you know what? I actually got back into Astroneer pretty recently. um I sunk a about 100 hours into it when I first just like um downloaded it off Game Pass and played it religiously about a year or so ago. nice But I had been watching some YouTube videos on a game called Planet Crafter ah from a channel I watch pretty regularly, which is like, it's pretty like basic ah like survival crafting game, except you're basically terraforming an entire planet.
02:10:24
Speaker
Oh, which is cool in and of itself. But that just watching those videos made me ah like want to get back into Astroneer. And they actually ended up updating it ah in the time I between I had last played and they added a whole like tram system and everything. So you can like build a whole train station system for like automation and offloading resources and stuff for your different bases and everything. um And there's a bunch of new like resources and stuff to go discover. And it's just really fun. So yeah, and actually it leads into something even bigger. Like for the whole like solar system, there's like an actual kind of storyline now that they're like feeding through ah to you, which I have yet to fully complete. So yeah, there's still updates happening to that game, which is awesome. I love that game so much. So if you're into like the resource gathering like automation setup type,
02:11:19
Speaker
Games, Astroneer is definitely one to check out. And it's got a great like solar system space explore. It's not really space exploration, but it's got a great lake solar system ah mechanic set up to it. So yeah, definitely recommend Astroneer. It's still on Game Pass, and I think it's 40 bucks regular price on Steam and like all the other marketplaces. so Nice. Well, all right, then. Well, with that, Nick, it's over. We've recapped it. we We've got we gone the weekend. We made it. We made it. We made it to the end of the show. We did it two hours later. That was a he a hefty one. It's a hefty one. But we got brought it's E3 season. ah It's still not the heaviest that we did. I remember there was that one week, I think in season
02:12:08
Speaker
Three or four where the week it was like all of e3. I had to cover in an episode oh God, it was like all of the showcases and I'm like oh So yeah, but we did it. ah Thank you Nick for joining me as always Where can we find you on the internet? Thank you so much for having me, Tony. like This was a great kind of jump back into the ah the content creation kind of space. I've been kind of dormant on my ah normal channels as of late, just because of life stuff and everything. But you can find me on YouTube and your favorite podcast listening services for the No Score Review Show, where we have in-depth critique and nuanced discussion of some of the latest movies, television, and video games.
02:12:57
Speaker
ah The last thing I actually uploaded was for a spoiler review of Dune Part 2 way back in March. um I have a spoiler free review and a spoiler full review, if you will, um on YouTube and your favorite podcast listening services. um I'm also all over the socials on ah Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. at no score reviews, I believe, and also on letterboxed if you ah are a film buff and want to follow me on there at no score or at no score reviews. um And yeah, I'm hoping to get back into the ah the swing of things with the summer movie season at a high. ah Deadpool three is coming in a month or so.
02:13:43
Speaker
So i I'm going to try and make a review for that. um And yeah, just get back into the swing of things with no score plays as well. I do a Let's Play channel where it's primarily indie games, ah mostly centered on like puzzle or like point and click adventure games. So yeah, you can go check that out. I've got like a good backlog of videos for you to check out in the interim until I start uploading new stuff. I think I have like about 550 videos or so ah there. So. You can go check out ah Tiny Lands, the first game if you want, before Tiny Lands 2 comes out next year, and then stay tuned when I do play that. But yeah, no score, no score reviews on all the places.
02:14:23
Speaker
and soon to be a PlayStation, the PlayStation Final Fantasy 14 video dub. Yeah, exactly. And I want to have you back on the review show, Tony. I know like you're not as much of a film boss and everything. I was on the first episode where we talked about Stray. You were my very first guest and you have that return. I have that return because I do not watch movies. As like a backstage thing for like I was offered to be on the Mario movie episode and I that's true It was I was seeing the film the next day
02:15:00
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, it was a scheduling conflict. It was just a scheduling conflict. i If I had seen it before, I probably would have been on that one. But you know what? As another bit of a tease and back back ah behind the scenes type thing, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is coming up this year. And I'm looking to do a potential re-review of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2. So if you have any interest in any of those. If I watch the films this year, I will let you know because I haven't seen the first two yet.
02:15:32
Speaker
Okay, well we could sort that out then but there's ah at least a little bit of a tease ah For towards the end of the year. So these there's a tease folks. Maria's gonna die ah It's gonna happen and I'm giving you guys a warning the theaters gonna erupt into cheers. It's normal. Just let it happen There you go But of course we'll get you back on eventually so hey excited for when that does happen ah You can of course find me at Tony's game lounge on X um Twitch YouTube

Speaker
um Also new YouTube content soon. We got like some Street Fighter vids in the works. We also have a video of our boy TC Guessing the NHL team logos because that was a thing we recorded very impromptu, but it's funny as fuck and Gonna hit I'm gonna try to get it out before Florida takes the Stanley Cup from Edmonton because that's probably what is going to happen been Let me just look at the game. Well, there's got to be at least one more game. I mean, yes. Stanley Cup. Oh, my God. They won again. There's up three nothing. Oh, boy. So at least one more. At least one more.
