Challenges of Pregnancy on Naval Base

I was stationed on a naval base in a land far away, unnamed. And I was already having a gorgeous and fulfilling few years in the Navy. i had had a couple tours under my belt.

feeling amazing, building a strong and trustworthy reputation. But what happened was I got pregnant while I was stationed on the ship by my husband, by my husband.

But yeah, I was stationed on the ship. And this is generally looked down upon, right? Because women who get pregnant while stationed on the ship, they're generally looked as they're not committed.

you know They're not loyal to the mission. They just want to get out of um deployment. And that was not the case. I just... She was a miracle. it Really didn't know that she was coming.

So yeah, I got stationed. i I got pregnant while I was stationed on this ship and I was afraid. I had big dreams for my career and i was afraid that I had ruined it.

And a mentor of mine that I spoke with about this and I spoke with in the energy of fear, going to lie,

And the way that she responded to me, it just made me feel like, yeah, it's over. It's done. But I was still hanging in there.

to mention, it's just in me to give my all, right? It's just in me to serve at the highest standard that I can. It's just in me to be the best damn chaplain that I could be anywhere I go.

That's just in me. So here I am. I'm at this naval base and... we get a new commander. One I thought that I could trust, that would have my back, that would support what I was there to do.

um As a chaplain, you know this is something you're always looking for because not all of your higher-ups support what you're there to do. So I felt like I had all the indications that he was going to be supportive, that this was going to be a really good match, and some really phenomenal things was going to happen on this base.

But it wasn't.

And when I approached him about a situation that was handed down to me, things didn't go down the way I thought they would. So I approached him about a situation that, you know, i felt, okay, we get to nip this in the bud right now.

I gave my recommendations as an officer, as someone who has been in this space and dealt with this kind of thing before. and suggested that we take action X, let's just say, right?

And what he asked me to do was to take action Y. And the truth is, it was something that just shouldn't have been done. So I protested, but I was told, just do it.

I spoke with some other leaders in the command and I was told, just do it. Shut up and color. Fall in line. I consulted a mentor, a higher up um who was in my line. I'll just say it that way.

And I was told, just do it. He's your commander. And so because I've been in the game for a little bit, I asked for it in writing, right? This is the proper thing to do.

And what I got was a vague, ambiguous email at best. Right. And I should have pushed for something a little more concrete, but I didn't. I took the email and you know what I did, y'all?

I did it. I took action. Why? You know, and for the sake of this story, let's just call it frying the cheese. Okay. You know what I did? i fried the cheese.

Why? Why did I do that? Because. He held the power of my evaluation and I was afraid of losing my big dream in the Navy.

And that is the truth. I believed in the illusion that he could destroy and put the nail in the coffin of my career. I believed that. And obviously, right? That belief is what created the actions that I took.

In essence, I gave him the authority over the substance that was my dream. And so let me say this. No one has spiritual and energetic authority over the substance of a dream or mission or a calling that is in your soul.

No one. No one has that authority. That authority, that power belongs to you and you alone. Never give it away. Never. Never.

So what happened? What do y'all think happened?

He told me to do it. And then he reported me. So yeah, I feel your mouth dropping open. Yeah, I know. Mine did too.

You should seen my face when the report came in and when I was being questioned. You could have felt the energy of fear literally leave my body and permeate the room. It probably would have suffocated anybody in the room.

I was terrified. And the mentor higher up that told me to comply and sent me that vague email supported him and left me out to dry.

That is what happened.

Standing my ground and saying no in the first place when I knew that the instruction supported me. It was my belief that he held my future in his hands.

What held me in dread, hurt, and pain, which of course I then transferred to my unborn baby, right? Who was feeling all the things that I feel.

What caused me to feel the depression, the shame, the guilt, And to bring these energies into my home, into my marriage, into my family.

It was my belief that my career is now over because this individual held it in his hands. I literally handed him over the power and the authority over the dream that was given to me.

Luckily, the IG, the Inspector General knew what was up. Luckily, I had that scanty email. Luckily,

when no one else did, the universe, source divine, had my back.

and that substance within me to woman up and have my own back. right I had to then gather the email, gather my documentation, gather the instructions, you know document the conversations that I was having.

um And it's interesting because the other individuals that I was having conversations with, they also cowered because they also were under the illusion that he this person had the authority over their careers in his hands.

So this is what I want you to know. What happened? He fired me from my position. um He had the authority to do that. but he did not have the authority of my dream in his hands.

So though he fired me from my position, I was restored and rather quickly. I mean, universe just like, rearrange things. a new instruction came down, you know, people were moved in position. It was like, yeah, fairly quickly, I was restored back to my authority, my position.

Then I was early moved to another command. And in that command, my reputation only grew stronger.

And then I was selected to my dream position, one that I had written on my evaluation for a long time. That was my dream. It was a super coveted position um and one that would have guaranteed my dream going forward. It would have guaranteed a promotion that I was looking for.
