00:00:18
Speaker
Here's your host, Tony14. Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another brand new episode of Tony's Game Lounge. I'm your host, as always, Tony14. And joining me this week, we have a brand new guest, first time on the podcast.
00:00:32
Speaker
a deep dungeon challenge speed runner in Final Fantasy 14 and just a Final Fantasy streamer and other in variety streamer overall as they played a bunch of other games on their channel. Angelus demoness. Hello. Hello. Hello. Welcome to the podcast. Thank you for coming on today. How are you doing today?
00:00:52
Speaker
doing good thanks for having me hey pleasure to have you here and you're brand new here so we get to we get to we get to start with a loading screen which is how we start every new guest off here in the game lounge where you get to give us your favorite video game favorite video game character and favorite video game soundtrack
00:01:10
Speaker
All right. Favorite video game is tough for me. I mean, honestly, the Final Fantasy franchise has always been kind of the mainstay for me. I mean, I've dabbled in many, many games, but I would say pretty much like Final Fantasy in general. It's hard to pick one. It's almost like it depends on my mood sometimes, right?
00:01:29
Speaker
I almost would like to say the remake and the rebirth of Final Fantasy VII right now would sit there, but I can't necessarily say it is until it's complete. It's not a complete version yet, but I'd probably put those right there because I've had a blast with those games. Favorite character? I've always liked Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII.
00:01:53
Speaker
She was cool. I really liked her. I really liked that game to begin with. The original the original 13 or this or the sequels. How do you feel about the OG 13? OK, how do you feel about the sequels? Just a quick question there.
00:02:09
Speaker
I thought they were great, except the third one, only because I didn't give it a chance. I went into the third one when it released and I kept thinking, oh, it's not like the first two, it's not like the first two, like the whole thing's different, the whole gameplay is different, and it's like I didn't give it a chance, and I wanted to in the future, but I haven't been able to

Angelus' Gaming Hot Takes

00:02:28
Speaker
do it.
00:02:28
Speaker
But that is one thing that's kind of on my backlog list to get back to that game and then just take it with a fresh take and just play it as it is. Because I know people have liked that game. I've heard people mention like, okay, that game's pretty good. Yeah, I only got through like three hours of that third one. But I did do the first and the second and I thought the second was even better than the first one and I liked the first one.
00:02:50
Speaker
Okay, okay. Do you think the 13 saga will ever get ported to modern consoles as they're the only mainline Final Fantasy games that aren't on console?
00:03:01
Speaker
That's interesting. I mean, they got the PC, right? Yeah, they're on Steam. I looked at it back in the Steam sale was going on and I'm like, oh, 13 is on here. Wait, that means 13 is you can play every Final Fantasy game, modernly, like on modern hardware, except you can't play 13 on like PlayStation or Xbox still, but you can play every other single Final Fantasy game. That's interesting. That's the one that's left out, huh? Yeah.
00:03:27
Speaker
I mean, obviously 16 is also the other exception because it's still a PlayStation 5 exclusive, but it's still on console in a sense. Right. Yeah. And that's getting close to getting released on PC. Yes, it absolutely is. Favorite video game soundtrack.
00:03:40
Speaker
Octopath Traveler. One and two in combination. Honestly, I always say this until when I stream and everything, it's like the Final Fantasy franchise OST, especially actually 13 and seven, which is by the same composer. They will always be my benchmark for any other game that comes out. Is it as good as Final Fantasy?
00:04:03
Speaker
with the one exception of Octopath, which I feel like is just a step above Final Fantasy, in my opinion. The music is just way too good for like every single track. And also in combination with how that game plays, like with the environment and everything and the characters and everything, it's just the music is just so good in that

April Fool's Day in Gaming

00:04:20
Speaker
game. So good. All righty. All right. Well, with that, we can now move on to the second part of our introductions, and that's hot takes.
00:04:28
Speaker
So what is your biggest video game hot take?
00:04:37
Speaker
I think the one recently where we were just talking about 13, I remember making the tweet about this and I was like, uh, cause I know like a lot of people in the past had always been complaining about 13. Oh, you know, the game is linear. Like even on steam, it's hilarious. On, on the steam page, it's like, and one of the tags is said is that it's linear. Like that's actually the tag for the thing. And I made a tweet like when 16 was coming out, like, you know, if you guys really are 11, 16, you should really give 13 a try. Cause I mean, if you're complaining about 13 being linear, uh,
00:05:07
Speaker
I should probably go back to it if you're playing 16 and liking it because like 16 was pretty, pretty straightforward. Yeah. With its gameplay. I mean, you can argue open world like a little bit, but not really. I mean, I felt like I was on the rails with that game from beginning to end. I mean, you could say the same thing about seven remake as well. Seven remake was basically a straight line. Yeah. So so yeah, that that was like that's probably my my most recent one that I would say sits there. So OK, that's not bad. That's not a bad hot take.
00:05:36
Speaker
Mine is my people say mine's pretty bad. I think Mario 64 is an awful game Casually, I think is an awful game casually I say that because when you look at a speedrunner playing Mario 64, it's like a whole nother game
00:05:54
Speaker
But when you play the game casually, it's not good. It's just it's just not good. And again, it is a product of his time. Yes, I understand the significance of the game, of how it transitioned to Mario and how it became how platformers came to be in 3D. And it was basically a basis for all future platformers. But I still think it's a bad game there. I never played the game, actually. Really? Yep. Wow. Mm hmm.
00:06:22
Speaker
Wow. Yeah, 60 fun facts. I mean, six I had a 64, but I was pretty really limited in the amount of games I played on 64. Mario, it's interesting. A lot of the mainstream Nintendo games like Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, it's like I didn't do a lot of them, not simply because I just didn't like them. It's just I didn't didn't have too much of a desire to get into them. Like even Pokemon, I fell off right from the very beginning.
00:06:51
Speaker
And yeah, it just wasn't one of those games that I kept up with, like Final Fantasy is. And a couple other ones are, but just not those. So yeah, that kind of just skipped over me on there. Interesting. All right then. Well, with that, I think it's time for us to dive into our headline of the week. And we've got a good one because earlier this week of recording,
00:07:11
Speaker
It was April Fool's Day and like every good April Fool's every year a lot of fun little things happened within all spheres of the internet on the social media side, on the gaming side. I mean the internet was mostly focused on Smosh's Shane and Courtney because
00:07:31
Speaker
They posted April fools that they got married and everyone's like, nah, this can't be real. But it turns out they did. They got married like a month ago and everyone was. This was like the hot thing on the Internet. They got married a month ago, but they posted on April fools make it all a big thing. And it was quite funny. Happy for those two. But in the gaming world, so much other stuff happened.
00:07:52
Speaker
Here's what some of the best ones that I was able to find and saw and read about Starting off the New York Times their connections game that you've probably seen if you watch Ludwig or other streamers doing daily like wordle like puzzles Well, they did an emoji only connections were basically the goal of the game is to just match the words up that all have a similar theme to them and
00:08:16
Speaker
And so they did emojis only, which was quite funny. Among us, of course, who have had a tradition of an April Fool's gag every year since the game has been popular, added a long neck mode, where if you're not just a normal short imposter, you all have long necks and you kill people with said long necks.
00:08:38
Speaker
like you just headbutt them or something yeah basically like the kill animations were you cut them in half with your long neck expanding through them basically it was funny and it was available all during the week long from April 1st to the 5th
00:08:54
Speaker
Possibly the seventh. I don't know how long it fully went on, but it was for the week They did that house flipper 2 out of the new permanent mode called the floor is lava mode Which in a house flipping game about decorating houses and whatnot? Doing parkour and it was not what I had on my bucket list for 2024
00:09:15
Speaker
I might go redownload the game to try it out because I own it. I love the House Flipper series, and I might give that a try. Palworld released a small little video on their social medias called Palworld More Than Just Pals, which is a dating sim type game where you date the pals, which I know some of you are probably into.
00:09:40
Speaker
because God help us all. Speaking of dating sims, just a fan account of Final Fantasy XIV then released a little trailer for a game called, a fake game called Eternal Bonds where you could date the male scions of the seventh dawn.
00:09:56
Speaker
Uh, it was really well put together really funny. Uh, you had like you had graha, you had amaric, you had a steady and thankred, uh, Ariane Jay.

Latest Gaming News and Updates

00:10:07
Speaker
I think I got all of them that were in there. I'm probably missing one off the top of my head, but you had all of them and it's like, ah, yes, everybody's husbandos is here.
00:10:19
Speaker
Nintendo released a trailer for their Virtual Boy Pro, a new connection for the Switch. Obviously, it got fake, but some of the games that they showed in this that they could have had, like, the first two of, like, Link's Cloroc hunting and, like, a Mario AR game in real life. Nintendo could be cooking if they actually made those a reality. Just saying.
00:10:43
Speaker
Pokemon released a thing for Pokemon sleep championships where it was just a video of them like it's the biggest tournament ever and It's yeah Pokemon sleep. So who could sleep best and longest? Who find out because I think they're still sleeping
00:11:01
Speaker
FromSoft did a really funny simple tweet that was just a video of Elden Ring expansion, but it was just the words and they were slowly expanding. And that's all it was. It was funny. Cyberpunk 2077, they did a really funny one. It's actually just a fun fact. They released a floppy disk edition of Cyberpunk, which is a set of 97,619 floppy disks.
00:11:30
Speaker
which is how big the game is in floppy disk size, which is just a fun fact to know, like, one of the biggest... That's how big one of the biggest games out there is in floppy disk sizes, which is crazy to think it has that many floppy disks. It's a lot. Razer released a Cthulhu gaming chair with eight AI tentacles to help you clean yourself, feed you, and everything. All you have to do is sit in the chair and game.
00:11:59
Speaker
Yacht Club Games released their skincare products, but all it is is just a tub of dirt. Power Wash Simulator pulled the Uno Reverse card, where you make everything dirty. Minecraft released the Poison Potato Dimension. Dead by Daylight released My Little Oni mode, which is where the Oni Killer is big and can step on the other players.
00:12:24
Speaker
That one went on for the week as well, I believe. Overwatch 2, they released Google Ei's for every character. Naraka Blade Point is one of the funniest April Fool's things that's now real and in the game as a permanent edition, released Hands as a weapon. A game about swords, released a hand as a weapon, and it is absolutely hilarious. If you haven't seen this trailer, go watch it, it's funny.
00:12:49
Speaker
Also, Discord released a loot box system that you could basically just open loot boxes, you collect all nine items, you get the clown ring icon on your Discord account that you can use for a limited time for April Fool's Day. And lastly, the big one. Last year, of course, we had the murder of Sonic the Hedgehog as a free game that came out on April Fool's Day.
00:13:14
Speaker
And it was a really good game. Well, a game called Content Warning went free for the entire day on Steam. Six million people download this game and it is basically lethal company across a YouTube simulator where your goal is you and your friends go into these dark,
00:13:33
Speaker
creepy areas with monsters that will kill you and hunt you down. And your goal is to get the best YouTube, just basically a YouTube video out of this and make it back alive. And it's absolutely hilarious. All the clips I've seen coming out of this, it looks funny. And it was free for the whole day. It's no longer free, but it's only like eight bucks Canadian. So do your conversions. It's like a $5 game.
00:14:02
Speaker
Definitely worth Definitely worth it and it does have mods to support bigger lobbies and all that as well just like lethal companies so if you want to play with more than just four friends you absolutely can and That was just some of the big highlights from this April Fool's Day Did you see anything during April Fool's Day Angeles that we didn't cover here?
00:14:25
Speaker
No, that's the most I saw, especially on Twitter. I know Facebook had a couple of things that were like, they were just like, oh, this thing is talking about this thing with a quote or something. And then they just had a picture of the person or the game or whatever. I didn't really enjoy them as much as all the ones that you had listed.
00:14:47
Speaker
which are more like video form or something. But yeah, you pretty much covered everything. And I was kind of saying like the Discord one that happened on the first, that like just legitimately broke my Discord for the day. Yeah. Also, the announcement video for it too is now like the most viewed video on the Internet. I heard about that, yeah. Which is crazy that that's what beat a Mr. Beast video.
00:15:13
Speaker
Like, because the old, the old, like most of you video, I can't remember what it was. And then Mr. Beast took that spot. And I think it was like a couple of Mr. Beast bits. But then this absolutely crushed it. And it's wild that this of all things is what did it. I guess we like loot boxes more than we let on. The debate, the debate's finally over. People like loot boxes. Yeah, for sure.
00:15:42
Speaker
Well, that was our as our headline of the week. We have a lot of other things to cover that aren't just jokes, but actually did happen. Let's take a look at those in the week. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop. Looking over recent releases and reports from the game lounge crew. It's the week in review.
00:16:01
Speaker
And to start it off, as we always do, some of the games that came out in these past two weeks, you had Planet Zoo Console Edition finally coming to the PlayStation 5 and Series X, the essentially Zoo Tycoon, but a few extra things to make it, you know, modern and good and up to date is now available on those consoles. Open Roads released, Pepper Grinder released, Turbo Golf Racing, South Park Snow Day, which came out to a very
00:16:31
Speaker
Meh, to bad reviews. Not the greatest South Park game, especially compared to the stick of truth in The Fractured But Whole. And Freedom Planet 2 came out on the consoles as well. In the world of video game news, Embracer has sold Gearbox to take two for $460 million. And they've confirmed Borderlands 4 is in development.
00:17:00
Speaker
So we've got the Borderlands movie coming out this year, I believe, if I remember the trailer correctly. And the Borderlands 4 will probably be out in a year or two.
00:17:09
Speaker
So exciting for Borderlands fans to see if it's because at least the good thing about Borderlands is it's a fun looter shooter Despite how bad the story might be cough cough Borderlands 3 It's still a fun looter shooter and it is it's got the part like a great formula to follow that it follows. I Will give Borderlands that in some retro
00:17:37
Speaker
YouTube series news red versus blue has confirmed its releasing its final season red versus blue restoration on May 7th
00:17:46
Speaker
Bernie Burns and Nat Holum, who both left Rooster Teeth and were founding members of this, have returned to it as writer and director, respectfully, despite Rooster Teeth shutting down because of WarnerMedia. What does this mean? It means that Rooster Teeth still has about a month or two left in them before they're fully shut down.
00:18:09
Speaker
As for where Red vs Blue is gonna go after this is released who knows but it is final This is the last Red vs Blue season. So the show that spanned over 20 years With over 20 seasons is finally coming to a close with restoration
00:18:28
Speaker
In PlayStation news, the PlayStation Plus games for April are Immortals of Avium, which was a game that came out last year, if I'm correct, or it was earlier this year. I can't fully remember, because it's been a crazy year as it always has been for games, and also I've been playing RPGs non-stop, so it's like I have no sense of time anymore.
00:18:52
Speaker
Minecraft legends and skull the hero Slayer are also free on PlayStation Plus for your monthly games I'm actually probably gonna pick up a morals of avium because I've wanted to play that game when it looked cool enough to play but the price point was not That didn't really fit the price point. Okay. Yes. It came out in August 2023. I just double-checked that so
00:19:17
Speaker
a very recent first-person shooter that uses magic instead of guns. Give it a check if you have a PlayStation Plus, the one that gets you the free game. In Sega news, the workers at Sega of America voted on March 26 to ratify their first collectively-bargained contract with the U.S. arm of the video game company, granting new protections and raises for about 150 full-time and temporary employees, which we love to see.
00:19:45
Speaker
It's better than all the layoffs that have been happening. Marvel Rivals was announced as a new 6v6 hero shooter. The Alpha will be launching in May and this is of course to compete with Overwatch. So if you're into those types of games and you like Marvel, this might be for you. Check out the Alpha when it comes out in May.
00:20:05
Speaker
Persona 3 reload. Oh, Persona 3 reload. They're in the news because they gave us a small, just a small, small taste of the OST on Spotify, specifically, by releasing five tracks early. The intro of Full Moon Full Life, it's going down now in three other tracks.
00:20:27
Speaker
I don't remember which ones, I think one of them was the U of Todai Dorm theme. They're out now, you can listen to them, but if you want, if this taster, if this tease is enough for you, you'll have to wait for April 24th for the full soundtrack to be on Spotify. Just a month left. I guess the weirdest story this week,
00:20:49
Speaker
The Tekken director is talking to Waffle House for a potential stage collaboration because Twitter X, whatever you want to call it, is nuts because they're like, oh, hey, there was this meeting of people fighting at the Waffle House. So people just tweeted to the Tekken director, yo, why is this stage getting added to the game? And he had to ask, what do you mean?
00:21:11
Speaker
I do not understand what you guys mean and everyone they explained he's like oh okay yeah i'm actually gonna reach out to waffle house to see if i can make this happen which i guess kudos to him for doing trying i don't think it'll actually happen but it'd be cool
00:21:28
Speaker
And also, Twitter's freaking out because the Tekken director, Masahiro Sakurai and Yoshi P, were all spotted at a restaurant together. And people were like, oh, is Clive coming to Tekken? I'm like, no, it's not going to be Clive. It's going to be Thankred. They're going to add Thankred to Tekken, clearly. And they're going to give Clive to the new Smash Brothers.
00:22:06
Speaker
It's some sad news actor and Oscar winner Lewis Cassette jr. Who voiced the vortigaunts in half-life 2 has passed away at the age of 87 very sad news coming out of that a In but more about fancy 16 news a demo for Final Fantasy 16 is reportedly coming to PC soon as for when soon I don't know ask Yoshida
00:22:22
Speaker
So that way they can announce Final Fantasy 16 on the Switch.
00:22:31
Speaker
as producer YoshiP says work on the port is going smoother than we thought it would so possibly before the end of the year Final Fantasy 16 could be on PC and then my friends can finally play the game because I'm the only one in my friend group who has played 16 that plays 14 as well
00:22:49
Speaker
In modding news, a modder named Weasley has taken the time and energy to recreate 1994's Desert Bus, which is widely regarded as one of the worst and most tedious games ever made, entirely within the confines of Sonic Frontiers. So if you want to run and boost as Sonic in Sonic Frontiers in a straight line for three hours, which is roughly what it said it'll take, now's your chance.
00:23:16
Speaker
Oh, I should totally give this to Emerald. In fruit on your phone news, Suica Game, the very popular match fruit to get a watermelon and drop them on the Switch. Well, that's finally available for iOS players outside of Japan now for only $2.99 US on the App Store. It's official title, so you grab the right game. It's Suica Game Dash Aladdin X from XGIMI Limited.
00:23:46
Speaker
And lastly, in video game news, Lethal Company version 50 released in beta, adding three new moons, Adam, Ants, Artifice, and Embryon, new enemies, the Butler, and the Giant Robot, and also some speed things that affect uphill and downhill speed, and no one seems to like those a lot. The Butler targets one single person
00:24:09
Speaker
and ignores other players. And the giant robot activates at 5pm if it spawns on the map randomly and will shoot missiles at you. So if that's what you wanted in your lethal company is a giant robot firing missiles at you, then you finally can have that.
00:24:26
Speaker
In our live service game news update, starting with Final Fantasy XIV, Dawn Trail pre-orders are live! You can get yourself the bonus Garnet minion and EXP earring for pre-ordering the game, and the collector's edition of the game contains a Zidane minion, the Ark mount, and a special brush glam for Pictomancer.
00:24:47
Speaker
The official launch of Dontrail is July 2nd with early access on June 28th. And also, the Final Fantasy XVI collaboration event has begun, adding the Torgo Mount and Minion, the Clive Attire, the Clive Triple Triad card, and
00:25:04
Speaker
Orchestrian rolls if you want everything all you gotta do is play the three quests that you gotta do and spend 400,000 MGP at the gold saucer to get all of the orchestrian rolls and the card What did you think of the have you done the 16 event in 14 Angeles? Not yet. Not yet. Ooh Okay, and I will say this for those who have not played 16 but do play 14 the
00:25:32
Speaker
story of this does spoil the first two hours of 16. But if you've played 16, you kind of know all this stuff already, but it is a heads up. It will spoil the first two hours of you, which is what the demo of 16 is going to be, which is why I think they did it like this.
00:25:48
Speaker
Yeah, I was about to say it's probably the demo, too. Yeah, it's basically going to be the demo. But yeah, just just beware of that. The fight itself that you do do is really cool. It's a really cool fight with sort of like how in the 15 events you get the warp ability in the fight. You get a dodge roll. So you can dodge roll in 14. And I swear to God, if they don't implement this in their next field operation thing for Dawn Trail, I will be bad because I think the dodge roll in 14 is done
00:26:18
Speaker
surprisingly well. Which I never thought I would say. Things like it sounds like something good for Thankred, right? It does. It absolutely does. In Battle Royale slash live service shooter games, Cheech and Chong are coming to Call of Duty Warzone. Again, not on my bingo card. And also I didn't realize Cheech and Chong were doing anything recently. But apparently they're shooting it up in Warzone now.
00:26:46
Speaker
Good for them. And in Destiny 2 news, as part of the livestreams that they've been having to prepare people for the final shape, the announcements have wrapped up. They announced that the Brave's gun set will be available as drops and rewards for the onslaught mode.
00:27:09
Speaker
leading all the way leading up to the final shape. And also they're adding a new social space to the tower called the Hall of Champions. As for what it looks like, I don't know, I haven't touched Destiny 2 in years, but we still cover it. And we'll probably have a full report from our Destiny Insider Jackson once the final shape is released. Looking at the world of esports and Apex Legends, we now turn to our Apex Reporter Mist.
00:27:38
Speaker
It's ya boi, Mist here, with Peter updating to all things Apex Legends related. This week is a bit of a shorter update, with not much going on. Now if you remember from last podcast, you will recall that I said that the NA regional finals did not take place yet due to hacking and issues security wise. They have since released a bunch of security updates, and so do not worry, the game is safe to play. However, the NA finals have happened, but they did it offline in the midst of all the crisis to avoid any potential issues.
00:28:05
Speaker
The 12 teams from NA that have qualified for LAN are Dark Zero, Moist Esports, TSM, Legacy, Disguised, Elevate Gaming, Space Station Gaming, Luminosity Gaming, Complexity, Furia, Cloud9, and Oxygen Esports.
00:28:21
Speaker
Most 12 teams will join the other 28 teams from the other regions at our LAN in Los Angeles. The LAN will be taking place May 2nd through 5th, so tune in to play Apex if you're curious to see how those go. This has been your week of Apex Legends updates. Signing off, Legends.
00:28:36
Speaker
Thanks for that mist. In the world of TCG, starting with Pokรฉmon Twilight Masquerade drops on May 24th. In the world of Yu-Gi-Oh!, starting with our Master Duel updates. A new Band List update is coming April 11th, in which PerformaPal 5 Ringo Magician will be limited.
00:28:53
Speaker
Kachira Unicorn, Kachira Birth, Super Heavy Samurai Wagon, and the Deer Servant become semi-limited, and Armageddon Night and Pearly Pretty Memory are going to be unlimited. Also, the Volcanic Arena Selection Pack has been added, and we have 60 million download campaign bonuses available right now for players.
00:29:16
Speaker
In the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, Legacy of Destruction comes out April 26th. And the 25th Anniversary Rari Collection 2 Pack releases on May 22nd. And also, as a housekeeping note, this is the last week that we're gonna kind of cover Master Duel updates. It's getting hard to just kind of keep up with it. Considering not much happens some weeks, but then some weeks, there's a lot of stuff. Back when this was a weekly format podcast, it was much easier, but we are gonna drop Master Duel after this week.

In Magic the Gathering, Outlaws of Thunder Junction released April 19th, and the Universes Beyond Assassin's Creed set releases sometime in July. And in Disney Lorekana, Ursula's Return, the next pack, releases May 31st. And lastly, in tabletop news, a Bugsnax card game is being funded through Kickstarter until May 1st. They have currently raised $15,000 for the card game.
00:30:14
Speaker
Any final thoughts on any of those stories there Angeles? Let me take a quick review here No, I mean, I mean the best I can tag say is obviously the 14 stuff I'm definitely excited for that. And uh, yeah, I wonder when I quit. Did you pre-order Don trail yet? I have not yet. I will really well, the thing is I don't I am I'm not too much into the collector's edition. I don't collect things
00:30:42
Speaker
And also, you know, let someone else is going to really enjoy it to take it. So in that case, I didn't I didn't I didn't jump into it. So I'll just order whenever I need to. But I definitely will pre-order it at some point because I just get the I just get the standard digital for myself. That does remind me with the collector's edition, there is a digital version and a physical version. The physical version comes with a statue of the the Warrior of Light as a viper.
00:31:08
Speaker
A leather map the Never-ending journey journal and I think it came with something else that I can't remember But there is like an actual physical bundle that you can get as well as the stuff that I labeled in the digital edition Because I completely forgot to write that down It's all good
00:31:28
Speaker
But I'm glad that you said that. I'm glad you said those specific words because that triggered my brain to remember that. Dan on my 14, that's why. Exactly. Well, with that then, it's time for us to now dive into what games are coming out and what should be on your radar from April 8th to 21st. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar.
00:31:57
Speaker
And again, in one breath, here's what's coming out. Here's what's coming out soon. On the 9th, nothing releases on the 8th. On the 9th, Botany Manor releases on the Series X, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Children of the Sun releases on the PC. Gigantic, Rampage Edition releases on everything but the Switch and Final Factory, not to be confused with Final Fantasy, releases on the PC.
00:32:21
Speaker
On the 10th, House Flipper releases for the PlayStation 5 and Series X. Inkbound comes to the PC as well as Erebon, Shadow Legacy, and Planet Crafter. On Thursday, the 11th, Let's Revolution comes to all the consoles. Goons, Legends, and Mayhems releases on everything, and Revival Recolonization comes to the PC. On the 12th, Anomaly Collapse is the only game coming to the PC.
00:32:44
Speaker
On the 16th, Grounded makes its way to both playstations and the Switch. Harold Halibut comes out on the PlayStation 5, Series X, and PC. Planet of Lana comes to both playstations and the Switch as well. And Biogun, Europa, and Life Eater come to the PC.
00:33:00
Speaker
On the 17th, Kingsgrave comes to the PC, and on the 18th, Final Fantasy XVI, The Rising Tide DLC, makes its way to the PlayStation 5. Scare Ritual comes to the PS5, Series X and PC, and Soul Covenant comes to the Quest, PSVR2, and PCVR systems.
00:33:19
Speaker
And that's everything coming out in the next two weeks that you should care about. With the biggest stuff, mostly being in the second week, Grounded, finally making its way off of Xbox exclusivity. And of course, for Final Fantasy fans, FF16 The Rising Tide, which I am very, very excited for.
00:33:41
Speaker
We got a nice little trailer where we got to see what abilities Leviathan will give Clive, as well as just some other things, some fights, a bit of a tease of the Leviathan fight. It looks so good. It looks so, so good. I am so ready to jump back into Valesthea. And that one has a, it's going to have like a Brogue Light mode too, right?
00:34:06
Speaker
Is it I can't remember if it is or not and it is I'll definitely play it because I mean if I have every other achievement in that game So I'll do whatever it takes to get whatever achievements I still need But yeah super exciting for that I of course still need to Finish FF 7 rebirth though. I'm 13 hours in on that and that's uh, I'm nowhere close. I'm nowhere close. I
00:34:33
Speaker
I'll be 15 hours by the end of today because when I get home from work I'm gonna put the two hours. I'll have into playing more rebirth It's not even 1% Yeah, it's not even 1% It's not a lot it ain't much but it works Well with that it's time for us to now dive into our main focus this week Here's what we're talking about this week in the game. Wow
00:34:59
Speaker
Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. And our first topic of the day, well, it's kind of Angeles' bread and butter. Deep dungeons. So I want to start off with this, is what got you into Final Fantasy XIV and then what got you into the deep dungeoning specifically?
00:35:25
Speaker
Uh, 14 for me was the natural progression from me originally playing Final Fantasy XI.
00:35:33
Speaker
Um, funny enough, I almost debated on getting into 1.0, but at the time of that release, which is what, like 2003, right? No, no, no, I'm sorry. 2013 to know it's like 2012 1.0. Yeah. It was like 20. It would have been because when they calculate the tech, because 14 is celebrating 10 years. Yeah. But do they count the 1.0 release in that 10 years?
00:36:01
Speaker
No, they don't. I think it's on 2.0. They don't. Then in that case, I think it was either 2012 or 2013. Yeah. Because 2014 is what 2.0 came out. Yeah. And around that time, I was still playing it like a laptop. So 1.0 was just not viable for me to even play that game. And I actually even got the collector's edition. I didn't do anything with it. And me and a couple of my friends in FF11 had intentions of trying out 14, but it kind of just fell through because no one could really play it.
00:36:30
Speaker
So I was still on 11 and then eventually I did reach kind of the end of my 10 year in 11, which I had played for like seven years. And then I was kind of on break for I guess a year and a half without an MMO and then 14 2.0 started making the waves. So I'm like, okay.
00:36:46
Speaker
Let me try this one. They had a Phi Beta, it was workable on my laptop, and I had a bunch of my FF11 friends interested in it too. So that's where it got mean to 14. So I would say it probably was definitely aided by me playing FF11 for so long and knowing that vibe of a Final Fantasy MMO, even though this 14 is very different from 11. Yeah, I've heard.
00:37:12
Speaker
I've heard many differences, like even looking at when I see FF11 stuff, I'm like, man, this looks so like it definitely looks dated. You can tell that just because of like graphics and all that stuff. But it looks so different and it plays very I've heard people say that like Eureka feels a lot like FF11. Is that a fair, accurate statement? It's like it's like FF11 super, super late. Yeah. OK, that's my part of.
00:37:42
Speaker
But funny enough, I had tried FF11 again more recently on the private servers. And initially the combat, I mean, you compare going backwards, right? And the combat was so slow because it was like their...
00:37:57
Speaker
their look on like trying to make a turn-based game into an MMO kind of thing. Yeah. Then I had remembered like in some of the other fights, there were times when you had you have crowd control, like studying, silencing, so on and so forth. And honestly, at that reaction time, you need an FF11. It's superior to what you need in 14, in my opinion. It actually takes more skill in 11 to actually do some of the crowd control.
00:38:21
Speaker
trying to remember how to do that. It was pretty, it was like, oh wow, like actually the content is not that slow when you have to worry about some of these things. But no, it is pretty dated. And 14 is definitely more your modern, present day MMO or 11. It has the old school grindy type of vibe to it, but it was great for its time when it released and when I played it.
00:38:49
Speaker
And then going into your next question about Deep Dungeon, the thing I still very vividly remember what pulled me in was I remember reading the patch notes. I think it was 3.35 when they first introduced Palace of the Dead. And I had read in the patch notes that this was going to be, you know, it's a roguelike. Not actually they didn't say that, but it was more like, you know, randomized levels, you know,
00:39:12
Speaker
X amount of floors, but you can go in solo and it had leaderboard. And that was two things that pulled me in, the leaderboard especially. And honestly, if it didn't have the leaderboard, I don't know if I'd be as interested in the content as I am now, because I really remember even on its first release when it was only one to 50 that I just wanted my name on the leaderboard, you know, just solo it. And you had a solo leaderboard as opposed to only the other party leaderboard.
00:39:36
Speaker
And just to get my name on that leaderboard was like motivation enough for me to keep running and keep running and keep running. And then I just kept with it ever since it first released. So how much time would you say you spent doing deep dungeons in Final Fantasy 14 then? I mean, I played it since release. So now we're talking like, I think, man, I think that was July.
00:39:56
Speaker
2014 if I remember correctly no july no july 2016 I think it released so now we're talking close eight years that's That's a lot of hours. That's a lot of hours. Yes I think if anything
00:40:14
Speaker
It's incredible that you think of any game out there that exists, right? And especially like for maybe some of us who's played games for decades or years to have stuck with a game mode in a game for that long and it's still
00:40:30
Speaker
You look forward to doing it says a lot about the content my opinion. I'm still doing it regularly I'm waiting very excitedly for the expansion to come out because it's almost like a fresh start I still got lots and lots of plans coming up from here till dawn trail for the content So it really says a lot about the content at least for me
00:40:48
Speaker
So give us a history of the deep dungeon both like the how people reacted to it initially and like the soloing community aspect of it to give us a history of this because this I am Super interested in all of this cuz I like I've done each deep dungeon once but I only really scratched the surface of them Yeah, I mean I it's it it's both
00:41:11
Speaker
almost like a blur, but also it's been wild to know that I have obviously seen it from the very beginning and I've seen it grow from literally nothing into what it is now where it has almost this very respectable and positive reputation. I love when people, whenever they talk about Deep Dungeon or their accomplishments, they always say thank you to the Deep Dungeon community as a whole.
00:41:40
Speaker
It's like a combination of individuals, not just one person or two people that are helping you out. It's like an entire community that helped you into whatever information you needed. And that is, again, that's what it is now. But before, again, it was just for nothing. The early days of attempting to go for necromancer was just like,
00:42:01
Speaker
four or five people that were actively going for it. And you knew about that because you looked at the leaderboard, you checked every week, you would see updates on the leaderboard of this person got to this floor and that floor. But it's like we were doing everything just apart from each other, right? And never really talked to each other, not in a regular basis. We just knew of each other's existence and trying to figure out the content with just whatever we found because you didn't have really anyone doing the content.
00:42:31
Speaker
And my original thinking and why it evolved into being kind of a content creator in general for this category is I thought the title being so hard and taking so long to even accomplish and no one doing it.
00:42:46
Speaker
that it must be completely unbelievable if someone were to just have the title, just show up one day, you go to the PF, you have this title over your head, and then it's like you had nothing to show for it. No video, no picture, no nothing. So I always thought, okay, well, I got to record my thing. I got to record this, I got to have it on video so that if I ever get this thing,
00:43:08
Speaker
It's here. Here's the evidence that I had it. I can't dispute it. It's unedited. It's everything. And so that formulated into explaining myself about how I do things, about how do I do these runs? How do I go through these things? And sometimes it's actually just me thinking out loud. It really is.
00:43:25
Speaker
I'm just playing the game, talking out loud, but it then became into something that people can pull information from, that they're going through their own runs, that they're trying to get through the same type of challenge. And then it slowly evolved into trying to formulating that thought process into, well, if you do this, then try to do this, try to do that. If you have this instance, try to do that. So it became into that guide form, but it kind of organically evolved into that type of thing. And then now,
00:43:52
Speaker
As in with the community, it's all, I guess the best way I can put it is it's all just paying it forward. You know, like my information or someone else's information helped this one person and now they're trying to get people to try the content and now they have the knowledge because they got the clear and now they're sharing their information to that next person and it's just, it keeps cycling. It keeps cycling up to up to present day and it's been so awesome to see.
00:44:13
Speaker
I remember in my Discord when we were first starting it off, I was very present and trying to answer people's questions, trying to give advice and everything. And now it's almost like I just sit back and just watch because people are just doing that themselves. They're excited. They either just got the clear or they're going through the thing and they're sharing their fails or their accomplishments. And they're the ones giving the information and all the information.
00:44:35
Speaker
The information in Deep Dungeon for the most part is like guidelines, not rules. Whereas like, oh, this is what worked for me. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's the right answer, but it worked for me. And you can decide from there if you want to take that chat or not. And then you have, you know, kind of debates on, you know, how to do this, how to do that. And then it becomes like a, just a really cool conversation. And that's where the community is at now. And that's how it kind of started off into what it is now. It's awesome.
00:44:59
Speaker
Nice. So when you first got your Necromancer, how long was the gap from when like the deep dungeons came out to you getting Necromancer and what job was it that you got it with first? So it's always such a weird question when people ask me that because in present day, people are if they engage in the title, it's like that's their focus.
00:45:20
Speaker
But it's like, okay, I'm going to go for necromancers. I'm going to work on this thing. For me, it was like, I was kind of working on it. I probably wasn't working on it as heavily as I did, like say heaven on high, um, when that first came out. But it was like, I think it was like a year and a half from, from when the title kind of released. Um, because it came out what I say, July, 2016, I think. Um, and then I got it in March of 2019.
00:45:49
Speaker
And to be fair, when it first released, it didn't have the title. The title came in through Stormblood when they also introduced wet niche. And that was when you really would consider that the actual viable.
00:46:00
Speaker
like, like chance that we had to actually get the clear. And anyway, the title didn't exist before then. Yeah, because when it came out, when when Palace of the Dead originally came out, it was only 50 or 100 floors, 50 floors, and you could only get your arm and arm into 30, which meant which was hard because you actually have a higher cap now in those floors, but 30, 30. And it was tough to get 50. So. Wow.
00:46:28
Speaker
Then later they released the later floors after that. But even then, the title didn't exist back then. But yeah, Red Mage came later and it was on Red Mage that I got the title. And I took a little bit of a break. I always say actually I rage quit out of that at a palace for a little bit. But I had two things I was dabbling with. I was dabbling with that and I was also pretty good in PvP at the time with Feast.
00:46:54
Speaker
So I couldn't do both like I had to I wanted to commit more time into feast So I had to dump my time from deep dungeon at the moment and I did great I did great in PvP at the time But yeah, it sacrificed deep dungeon for a little bit then I finally came back to it actually when heaven on high came up And kind of rededicated my efforts into that Nice, okay, and you've cleared
00:47:19
Speaker
multiple runs of Palace Solo with multiple classes, correct? A few. A few, sure. How many is it exactly for Palace and then for the others as well? So, honestly, the numbers are a little off because I've kind of lost track here and there. But for Palace, I've done all 19 jobs up to now.
00:47:45
Speaker
And then we've cleared Palace about 50 to 53 times solo. For Heaven on High, we've done all 19 there, and I think I'm up to about close to 80 clears now, solo. 75-80 clears around there. And EO is sitting around 23 or 24, because I didn't do too many outside of the Omni Clear, but it's around 23-24, soloing Eureka Orthos.
00:48:12
Speaker
Okay, wow. It's all nutty. Which of the three is your favorite to run nowadays? Palace. And we're going to get to that later, but Palace has just a lot of great memories to it for me from the beginning, from what we've done recently. So it's almost like a biased answer.
00:48:30
Speaker
Because I can't be like, there's just too much, there's just too much. It's like, it's your first child. It is. And it's almost like, not only is it like the first child, it's also the one that you watched go through college almost, you know? There's just a lot of memories to it that it's just hard to just not pick that as the choice for that question.
00:48:50
Speaker
Okay, so with how much you've run, have you received and earned every exclusive mountain minion from all of the deep dungeons with how much you've run all this stuff? Funny enough, it's a little bit of a meme that I don't open my intuition sex.
00:49:08
Speaker
So I've gotten quite a bit, but I don't really get much. I don't even have the Ubiq Orthos mounts, both of them. I didn't bother getting them. I could. I probably could just open my stacks and get one, but it's just not really a priority. I actually had a long time ago when I got my Twitch partner, I did a little bit of a sub-a-thon.
00:49:27
Speaker
And we kind of structured the subathon where when gift subs came in I would then open X amount of intuition sacks So we open like a thousand intuition sacks and then we gave away some of the mounts that way too Um, so in terms of number I couldn't really tell you I don't really keep track of that one But it's safe to say that I definitely either have access to or have gotten um all of like the the special mounts in there and so on and so forth do you have a favorite mount from the uh deep dungeon series um
00:49:57
Speaker
If I had to pick, it's probably heaven on high with the dodo mount. Um, cause that's just the very silly bird to, to, to be the silly bird that whenever you look on the market board, you see it's worth 6 million Gil. Yeah. You know, there's, there's a little bit of fun, uh, heaven on high fact about the dodo bird, but I always love to tell if you want to hear that. Yeah, absolutely. So did you know that that bird shows up in heaven on high?
00:50:21
Speaker
It just shows up So so this it's really cool. So I don't know if you so you said you've done the 3d so I have done floors 1 to 100 of Palace we we would we could have had it like a run that went past but we wiped on floor 90 It was sad. We documented it. It was it was a sad day. We've done
00:50:44
Speaker
And we didn't know that you couldn't go past if you had wiped on a prior floor. We had no clue either. So it was like, no! I've only done the first 30 floors of Heaven on High and I've done the first 30 floors of EO. Okay, so Heaven on High lore is that the tower is meant to be almost like a combat simulator for allagan warriors.
00:51:10
Speaker
So everything you see there, I think outside of maybe the first 30, but I think maybe all of it is essentially a simulation. It's just a computer AI simulation.
00:51:19
Speaker
When you get to 100 on the top, there's a shrine, but there's a giant tree with a nest, but then the nest is empty, but it's just there. So it's just like, okay, well there's a nest. So there's a little bit, I don't even wanna call it like an Easter egg, but there's a small chance that on specifically floor 99, you will see the dodo walking around as a patrol enemy. And it is one of the more dangerous enemies to actually fight. Like it's advisable for anyone going for their title just to not pull it because it will kick your ass.
00:51:48
Speaker
But it's really interesting because, one, it's a random counter, kind of. It only appears in 99. And I guess the lore for that is that, you know, they get to just walk down one floor just to check out what's going on and then, you know, goes up. So it's like the one thing that I guess is not a simulation in the entirety of Heaven on High. And then that's your mount that you get. Oh, intuitions.
00:52:09
Speaker
That's that's that's actually a really cool piece of that. That's cool. Wow. Yeah. I mean, it would be nice to hear, I guess, from from the dev team to see what is that bird actually. But that's kind of what we go with. Right. I mean, the nest is there. So it makes sense that, you know, it would actually exist. So.
00:52:29
Speaker
Yeah, it's great. It's really cool because I hadn't seen it for like, I don't know, for like a number of my runs. I didn't know it was a thing. And then it's all of a sudden like, oh, there's this bird I've never seen before walking around here like it owns the place. Because it does. Because it does and it kicks your ass. Yeah. Yeah. But that dodo, it got up there because that dodo has successfully cleared all 100 floors of heaven on high. Yeah. And just has a home there. It's a canon event, Miles. You can't stop it.
00:52:59
Speaker
So when Beast Tamer is released then, I hope that however it works, that you have to go to Heaven on High to catch that fucking dodo then. Because I feel like that has to happen now. That would be insane. Especially when you're talking about like, you know, like Pokemon Chinese, you know, rare encounters.
00:53:24
Speaker
Don't see it all the time when you're up there like you have to get all the way to 99 and you're not you're not always gonna see it. Yeah That would be that would be crazy. It would be hilarious if it is Realistically probably won't but if they do if there's that slight 0.1 percent chance that
00:53:41
Speaker
Yoshi P and the dev team do this. I feel honestly I feel like if anyone was to do this as like a joke it would be because of Koji Fox that it happens because I mean the band gave us fucking cocking balls and
00:54:00
Speaker
That was a 16 thing for those who don't know and obviously for those who do know Thal's balls and so much other shit that he's given us in just translation stuff I feel like it's a Koji Fox level joke right there waiting to happen Yeah, I agree God that that's that's incredible so
00:54:22
Speaker
How do each of the deep dungeons compare to each other? Obviously you have a palace is your favorite, but when you do run each of the three, what things do you have to go in mentally for each of the three? Is there similarities, differences? How does your mental game work? Or what do you do to prepare for each of them?
00:54:43
Speaker
Palace and Palace and Heaven and High are definitely similar to each other. They are going to be different in terms of what you're going to encounter. Palace for sure, it's the marathon, it's Behemoth, it's Godfather. Those are like the three main points that you have to really worry about. Many, many people are get tired and bored of the first couple of one to 150, but it is like the thing I say is everyone has to do it. You know, you can't skip it. So it's part of the challenge. You just have to just find a way to deal with it.
00:55:10
Speaker
And sometimes that can be rough, trying to maintain focus for that many floors. I mean, you're talking a maximum of 20 hours, probably looking at an average of 13 to 15 on a regular gamer's clear attempts. That's a lot of time to play relatively good, to maintain that, because if you die at any point, you're back to zero, you're back to one.
00:55:34
Speaker
have it on high, the enemies hit you harder, the bosses are a little bit easier, but then it's 100 floors. So no matter how you look at it, it's going to be half the time that you'll spend probably in Palace, more than likely. EO though is a little bit more of a change from the first two, where the challenge presented to you is more mechanical.
00:55:55
Speaker
know the AOE's, dodge the AOE's, auto attacks are not really going to bother you. Boss mechanics are definitely rougher than the first two. So it challenges you in a different way. Looking at the community, the community definitely, I would say the veterans prefer the older two.
00:56:12
Speaker
But EO could be a good entry point and how I kind of advertise it is like, you know, if you're someone who is a big raider in Endwalker, you've done savages, you've done the extremes, so on and so forth. EO might be a good jumping point because it'll feel familiar. You're at your full kit currently, mechanics are going to be roughly
00:56:31
Speaker
similar to what you've dealt with so far. Whereas the other two, Palace in Heaven on High, and sometimes some of the criticism there is that, oh, I play with my 60 kit, I play with my 70 kit, things hit too hard. And fair, it's a challenge. In my opinion, it offers a more unique challenge, but it's still a different challenge that it presents the gamers.
00:56:51
Speaker
So people are going to have preferences. They're going to like the mechanics. They're going to hate the mechanics. You could even throw into the one thing that I've been currently working on is the oceanic region coming from Heine and ping issues. So ping issues can affect you in palace against behemoth. It can affect you potentially in euica orthos trying to dodge AOEs. So you have a variance of different criteria that can then affect any individual player. So it comes down to, you know,
00:57:18
Speaker
what's gonna work out for you best of what might be more difficult or not difficult for you. Okay, when it comes to new players attempting this and going for the solo, what advice would you give them? Whether it's just simple advice or even class advice, like if there was a certain job class that you would recommend for first timers, what would that job be?
00:57:42
Speaker
So I always say that you're going to die in there. Just don't feel bad about it. I think that the best stories are like when someone feels like they did something really stupid, like, oh man, I died to this dumbest thing. It's so easy. And you shared with the community, you'll get like 10 people who are like, oh yeah, I did that yesterday.
00:58:01
Speaker
It's really not a big deal. You die to a silver chest explosion. You feel like you're so dumb that this is such a simplest thing, but people do it all the time. So don't feel bad about that. It's okay. These are the kind of mistakes that happen, but what's really good about the solo part of it and the fact that it's a challenge and everything is you're only just answering to yourself.
00:58:21
Speaker
You don't have to talk to your seven other teammates or your three other teammates that you just made this mistake that were in their experience or whatever take they're gonna have, right? It's just on you. So you just have to just be able to look at the mirror and be okay with it. And I think that's one of the greatest parts of this challenge is that Deep Dungeon is hard. Not a lot of people have the title.
00:58:40
Speaker
So you're getting a satisfactory type of a challenge, but it's just on you. The pressure is just on you so you don't have to worry about outside influences or outside pressures or social pressures on it. And I think that helps a lot of people kind of get through. In terms of classes, I actually, we do have
00:59:02
Speaker
kind of classes that have been popularized because of their either clear rates or people doing them so on so forth so each each of the deep dungeons will have that but usually like how you propose it you know what class you recommend which hobby recommend I always tell them try the class that you're good on first
00:59:20
Speaker
Because if you've played X job for years, it's a lot better for you to play that job that you know, like the back of your hand, and then learn deep dungeon mechanics. Because deep dungeon mechanics is very different than what you may have done in parties and stuff. So if I threw you a recommended job that you've never played before, never unlocked, and then you try to hop into deep dungeon, it's like you're trying to learn two things at once. And not to say you're incapable of it.
00:59:44
Speaker
But I think it's just a lot better to start off at your main job and then kind of veer off if you feel like you're uncomfortable, it doesn't feel that good. Because sometimes people ask me that, it's like, I'm playing this one job and I want to try this other job. Do you think it's a good idea? And I always say like, well, I don't know how you play. I don't know your preferences. I have never seen you play the game. The only way you're going to know that answer is to try it yourself.
01:00:08
Speaker
And that's why a lot of times I say, try your main job, because that gives you a jumping point, right? Do you, even if you're a healer, see, if you like the healer, there are people who have gotten the titles on healer, they stuck to it. It may have taken a longer time per se versus another job, but that's your main job. And there's meaning to that.
01:00:25
Speaker
So I say, you know, start with the main job, see if you like it or not. And then and then the experience will carry over no matter what job and then you can take the recommendations of what we tell you are popular, this job, that job, so on and so forth. OK, now let's say you're talking to somebody who has mastered their craft with every class. Which one would you say they go in with? If you had to pick one.
01:00:53
Speaker
So they're completely like a blank slate. I probably would lean them into like, okay, for palace, the top jobs there are currently like machinist warrior, and you can argue Sage as well for healers. And so that would at least help them narrow it down to maybe picking those. You can go Fizz range, tank, healer. Heaven on High, it's usually the tanks that are pretty popular, although the DPS, at least the Fizz range can certainly put some work into it. EO, that was special because I think EO,
01:01:20
Speaker
Outside of healers, you're not really gonna have a problem with really any class. I think melees are perfectly fine too in EO. I mean, samurai was a popular job for people to get their first clears. So yeah, if you're working on someone who's kind of the jack of all trades, that's where I would kind of lean them into. To at least give them something to look at and still kind of, you know, frame it as in like, look, you can pick any job you want, just know that these jobs have the most clears, like objectively speaking, people like these jobs, so on and so forth.
01:01:47
Speaker
OK, good to know. Now I have a question. This is a very personal question for me as a guy whose goal in this game is to do every side quest known that's available in the game. How many side quests are locked behind progress of each of the deep dungeons? Palace is like.
01:02:09
Speaker
Like what you're talking, like per NPC almost? No, like NPC quests that appear after you reach certain floors. Now, because the ones that I'm aware of are the ones that I've done, which is the one after floor 50 and 100 in Palace and after floor 30 in Avadon High at EO. Are there any other ones that pop after other points in those?
01:02:31
Speaker
It's a palace would have that initial quest that opens up the initial deep dungeons and then I think it sends you to Quarry Mill and then you unlock it initially and then you get to one point you got to do a follow-up quest like you said so like palace has two follow-up quests just to unlock this stuff but it's not much at all heaven on high has aside from the initial quest that you get
01:02:51
Speaker
at 61, which is required, by the way, I think both Heaven on High and Eureka Orthos both need you to get Palace of the Dead to at least 50 and to finish that quest, so at least that's a requirement for the next two. But Heaven on High is at 61 quests and then the one after when you clear 30, so that's two over there. EO actually does not need Heaven on High at all, so you can actually just completely skip Heaven on High if you want to. You just need Palace up to 50 and that quest completed.
01:03:18
Speaker
And I don't remember the EO, but I think it's probably just like one that unlocks EO and then probably another one that unlocks past 30. And then you have actually at the final bit when you finish 100 EO, you have a final quest that kind of caps the story. And that actually is very interesting because it gives a ton of lore on Allagan and Crystal Tower stuff.
01:03:42
Speaker
Like a lot. It explains all the bosses. It explains why things are there way more than the other two deep dungeons. That's one thing that was actually kind of cool, that it really, really gave so much story. And I believe the the the. The prison had worked on Heaven Sword had worked on the Eureka Orthos. So that's why it's cool. It's it's in depth. So that's cool. That's cool. So only only EO has like a floor 100 quest after you clear everything.
01:04:12
Speaker
Um...
01:04:15
Speaker
Does it heaven on high? Don't or does heaven on high have one, too? I don't think heaven on high has a post 100 one. I mean, it has a post 100 thing you can do to get the Judy Mount. Oh, yeah. Well, you have to clear it four times and you get the pieces of armor to show to the guy. And yeah, I don't think that's I don't think that's not really a question. That's more. Yeah, it just exists. Yeah. I'm talking like there's a quest marker on an NPC that needs. Yeah. That you that you should go.
01:04:45
Speaker
Yeah, and I think EO is the only one that actually has like a post quests kind of clearing kind of thing All right, so I got a grind EO good to know if you like lower and if you like Lori, it's a good one I just want my The never-ending journey to have every quest in in it. That's that's my end goal with Final Fantasy 14
01:05:07
Speaker
And if you're wondering how it's going to those who are curious, I got my classes I'm working on, I'm working on Summoner and Scholar, just got them to level 50. I've got Eureka that I'm working on, Baja's taking a while, and I still need to do Island Sanctuary stuff.
01:05:28
Speaker
Those are my big ones. And then of course I have the very infamous fishing quest that requires you to catch legendary fish. And the reward is 99 aether tickets. And I'm like, oh, that's a cool reward. Oh, I need to actually like pay attention to where I fish and weather and all that stuff. I corumba. So that's gonna be like the last quest I ever do. That's what I've told myself at least. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll just be like, fuck it, we're fishing.
01:05:58
Speaker
Moving on to a other aspect of the Deep Dungeons. Games done quick. You were at... It was A or S GDQ? A GDQ. A GDQ 2023. So what made you decide to submit for GDQ? And was this your first time applying for the marathons? Tell us the story of how you got Final Fantasy XIV into games done quick.
01:06:25
Speaker
luck. I did actually submit Palace of the Dead, I think a 1-100 a couple years back, just YOLO, because I had just been working on it. Not with the intents of sending to GDQ, just, you know, it was speedruns, so I submitted it. Didn't get in, that's okay, I was not expecting that to get in. But the question that you had, like, what made me decide to submit to GDQ? I mean, I submitted like a pretty older video, like one of my tutorials that I had.
01:06:52
Speaker
Um, so it was just videos that I already just had sitting there, but it was one of their, um, updates to their guidelines. Uh, I don't know if it was updated on the 2023 one or if it hadn't been like the one before the one before that, um, that they were accepting challenge runs and submissions where the game specifically did not have to be completed or you didn't have to see credit credits. Because a lot of the games that they had there for speedruns were like beginning to end, right? You start the game, finish the game.
01:07:22
Speaker
So I'm like, oh, okay. Well, that puts me in the category of being able to submit this thing because I'm not seeing credits. There is a, there is a, an end. There is a, you know, the stop point. And then I also thought that, okay, one hour, or I think I submitted a, I think I had it at one hour, but then my, my thing was like 45 minutes. I was allotting 45 for that. But the floor sits an hour and it's, it's the clock that ticks down. So.
01:07:47
Speaker
I'm like, yeah, let's just try this out. I'll bring out my best. I submitted a Machinist 71 to 80, which is the one that got accepted. I submitted an 81 to 190. I submitted a Ninja 81 to 190, and a Black Mage 171 to 180, because you can submit up to four in the same category. And yeah, they just accepted it. I mean, it was really just literally YOLO, let's just see what happens. And it was really a surprise.
01:08:17
Speaker
I was very excited. It was one of my goals to really get onto GDQ. I'd actually been starting to work on actual speedruns. My first speedrun game that I would say I officially tried on was Stranger Paradise, with the intent of trying to get good. And I did try to submit to, I think, RPG Limit Break at one point, which got close to getting in. But they submitted another one of the same game.
01:08:41
Speaker
And then I tried doing Stray, which I also actually submitted on the same event as a relay race. We were doing a Any% Glitchless Stray thing and we had like two other gamers that we were proposing to do like a race or something. And then I submitted 14 as the other one, but they accepted the 14. So yeah, it was just, you know, it's just one of those things where really when they say
01:09:07
Speaker
Just put it in there. You don't know what they might choose. You don't know what they're going to say. Don't feel like your run isn't good enough. Just let them decide. As long as it fits their guidelines, just let them decide. Let them take a look at the run. Just have good commentary, good gameplay, and then let them figure it out. And that's just my mentality with it. Nice. And specifically, it was floors 171 to 180 that you got in.
01:09:36
Speaker
Yeah, and I get it because it's probably behemoth being the highlight if I were to, you know, make a bet on why they picked that set. Yeah, which is good because it's it's it's definitely a highlight for sure. But the twist to this, though, was you did this whole thing mouseless. Yeah. So if you want to call into it.
01:09:59
Speaker
Most gamers, yeah, it's probably it was for me. It's just like any day of the office. But yeah, that was one of the ways I kind of advertised it to, you know, knowing that keyboard mouse is probably very common for players. So I put that in the category as well as that I wasn't doing it without with with the mouse. But, you know, the actuality is that's how I typically play 14 and really FF 11 started off in F11, but that's how I play 14 without a mouse.
01:10:25
Speaker
OK, and how how would you rate your overall run at a LGBTQ? How would you how would you rate how it went? The actual the actual run in game was good. And actually, I would say even better than great, only because I had to deal with those tech issues. So it's for me to be able to maintain my composure and my focus while also trying to do tech issues while the timer is ticking down and still being able to get everything in
01:10:53
Speaker
that we had hoped to play in and the timing wise and everything was, you know, good because I could have crumbled there. I could have just died randomly and really made a mess of their own. But there was a lot of there. I mean, I had known I know that one literally like the back of my hand. So I had a lot of insurances. I like essentially when you go through a clear attempt 200 you're trying to
01:11:18
Speaker
You're trying to conserve your your pro managers and your power ups so that you'd have a lot by the last 10. But I was essentially handing handling that set like it was my last 10. So I was willing to dump everything just to make this work. So there is a lot of insurance that if I needed to, I could keep the run moving and stay on time. And then it's whatever. Like, who cares? Who cares after who cares after that floor set? I just need to care about this one.
01:11:45
Speaker
And it was a big, and a big help to that was, was who was on my couch, my, my buddy, Frossey Mogg-Born, who, um,
01:11:52
Speaker
Like we had done practice attempts. We had done like two or three practice attempts where he's there asking me questions. We're going through like a semi-pseudo script. And man, he was such a big help keeping me focused. He would just like, you know, riff off some questions like, oh, you know, what happened to this? And it kept me on pace because we had something every floor. Like we were going to do something every single floor. And then I was essentially starting on like the fourth floor and we haven't talked about anything.
01:12:16
Speaker
But yeah, we kept the show moving and I did a couple things that I wanted to demonstrate, which was great. We had some random things that most of the time doesn't work and we were able to showcase that, so it was great. The community showing up was fantastic, even at the end when they had the
01:12:56
Speaker
in that lobby. And to get there, I mean, it takes work. You have to climb all the way up. You can start from 51, but you have to climb all the way past the 170, whether in a party or a solo, be specifically on Cactaur to show up on the stream for GDQ. And there are a couple of people who didn't make it because they disconnected or they just had an unfortunate thing. But still, you had so many people there. It's awesome to see. Incredible. That's awesome. That's super awesome.
01:12:59
Speaker
the airship meme.
01:13:27
Speaker
Do you think you'll be submitting something to GDQ again anytime soon? Anytime soon, probably not soon. I'd like to. The thing that I was mentioning the tech issues before, I think I know a solution to why the tech issues happen. And I would love to have just a clean run go through. But I'll completely be honest, that was a bucket list thing to hit. And we hit the bucket list. So kind of the motivation to
01:13:51
Speaker
We submit is not as strong as it was for the first time, but it's not off the table. I would love to when the time is right. I feel like I have to submit something better than what I did before and being a little bit, little, little critical of myself to think about what would be better. And I should almost take the advice I just mentioned earlier, just submit, see what happens. But when the time is right, I would love to.
01:14:13
Speaker
But it's been fun. You know, ever since that run, I've seen a multitude of people try to submit their own runs, whether it's GDQ or various other speedruns. So seeing Deep Dungeon become almost like a speedrun category is almost insane to me because I don't even consider it. I really don't consider it a speedrun category.
01:14:30
Speaker
the grand scheme of things it is. You're chasing a timer. You have to do it in a speedy amount of time. And you do have people doing legit speedruns of Deep Dungeon, like actually getting fast times. So it's cool that it's getting kind of a little bit of a branch off in traction in that department and people recognizing it as something that is skillful
01:14:49
Speaker
And still like like really cool to watch, you know. OK, biggest question here. Do you think that sometime in the Dawn Trail seven point X patches, we will see a fourth deep dungeon? If I was if I was leaning into optimism, yeah, the only reason I would say that is because the way they phrased it in the in the keynotes was weird.
01:15:16
Speaker
because I quote, they said, new plans for Deep Dungeon. And it's pretty ambiguous into how you can interpret it. My only kind of takeaway from that comment or from rather the thing that was on the keynote, like that's what it is. It's like, you wouldn't put something on the keynote if you didn't have something that you were planning that was pretty big. I mean, we've had recent updates in Deep Dungeon where they extended the regen potions from 15 second duration to 30 second duration.
01:15:44
Speaker
Which is great, but if that's all you're doing in Dawn Trail, you're not going to put that in Keynote, right? So that's how I'm viewing it, that something's happening. And if you were to expect the Deep Dungeon, you're looking at it from a year from now, because they usually put it on the 0.35 patch. So I would say yes, you're probably going to see one. I can't say that 100%, but something's going to happen with Deep Dungeon.
01:16:09
Speaker
Okay. I think if it's not a new deep dungeon, I think we might see another 100 floors come to have it on high. That would be cool. Have you ever played a Castlevania Symphonies of the Night? No, I have never played a Castlevania game. I want to, I want to. I've heard great things of Symphony of the Night as well. And I have a friend who's told me to play Symphony of the Night, but I have not played it.
01:16:38
Speaker
Well, this this will be spoilers, but that's fine. It's an old game. I remember playing that game way back when it was almost released and I beat the game kind of. It's like the bad ending. Oh, yeah, the where you beat the boss, the final boss at the end, but it's like, oh, wait, there's another tower.
01:17:00
Speaker
Yeah, whatever it was. So like it's like one of the main characters that you kill because he's possessed, but you're supposed to figure out how to get him on possessed. And when I figure that out after my second playthrough and you know, you save him, blah, blah, blah.
01:17:14
Speaker
And then, like, you have the entire castle of Dracula, and all of a sudden, a whole other castle appears upside down on top of the main castle. It's completely reversed. Like, the whole stage, the whole map is upside down. But it's the same tower. And I thought that was the most mind-blowing thing to me. I was like, oh my god, I only beat half the game.
01:17:34
Speaker
And I think that's how I would envision Heaven on High being another 100 floors, is that it's just like a reflection of the main tower. It's upside down and you're going up, technically you're going down, but you're going up just upside down.
01:17:47
Speaker
That would be cool. That's definitely the way to do that as well. You make your way to the top, you see the shrine, but then you see a reflection of it upside down. It's like you see the Warrior of Light reach out to it and then boom, you got to now work your way down in this reflection of it. That would be really cool actually to see how that would play.
01:18:11
Speaker
Yeah, and you're like if you'd be like on the literal ceiling and you look up, I'm like, oh my God, this is this is how this would look if I'm upside down. Like that would be. Oh, that would be sick. Oh, that would be a really creative way. Oh, that that I kind of want that, you know, it's like you will something into like a potential existence. You're just like, it would just be cool if they did this now. What would it be? Mm hmm.

Final Fantasy 14 Deep Dive

01:18:36
Speaker
Okay, well, I think to wrap up the FF 14 stuff we're gonna rapid-fire some Questions that you know, just basic FF 14 And then we'll get into our second topic. Sure. All right. So aside from deep dungeons How would you rank all all the other content in the game from side content wise? So Eureka Baja Island sanctuary main story held a brand There's other content in the game
01:19:02
Speaker
I guess that's the question. Have you touched that other content? How long have you spent on that compared to the Deep Dungeons? Let me touch it. I've done a lot in the game. Jokes aside, I've done a lot of the game. Actually, one of my non-favorite Deep Dungeon content is the Boja Duels. I think I still would like the level of difficulty for the Boja Duels to be injected into Deep Dungeon because those were
01:19:31
Speaker
in my opinion, peak challenges for solo content. Well-designed, awesome mechanics. A lot of people will say, a lot of people won't enjoy those mechanics because they go through what I prefer to label it as speedrunning the duels. People will say, oh, you did the cheese strat. In my opinion, it's, I mean,
01:19:55
Speaker
I've looked at the cheese chat, it's not that easy. I mean, yeah, you're using like 20 different things, but like you have to get it all right and you have to hit all the buttons correctly. So it's like a speed run chat. But if you do the speed run chat, you're skipping all the mechanics. But I did those duels, like literally like you got it to like almost enrage. So you got to the end of the fight and the mechanics in those fights were awesome.
01:20:15
Speaker
And I'd love to see that in in the deep dungeon and eureka orthos I think was a nice step in the right direction for the bosses where they were definitely more more exciting than the previous deep dungeons So yeah, I would love to see more bozia dual like and and I know we're getting the open world coming in in Don show which yeah, we're getting a new field opera We're getting like a we're getting a new field operation and we're getting a new sanctuary thing as well
01:20:40
Speaker
Yeah, so if they do more duels like that, I'm all over it. I'm going to prog them blind and do that for sure. I used to be into crafting and I used to be into PvP. I've definitely stepped down from those. And I stick with the raid story. Actually, seeing where the areas are going for the raid, I actually would be very interested to see the story. I don't do Savage, but I'm in for the story. Nice. Favorite expansion and favorite character?
01:21:12
Speaker
Maybe expansion? I kind of like them all. I mean, the easy answer for me may be Heaven's Word only because the palace existed. I do like Shadowbringers because of the story, so I probably would put it between those two. Character. Character. I don't know. I don't know who I'd like for a character. I guess Shtola would be probably...
01:21:36
Speaker
pick for me um i've kind of liked her in the story a lot and i do play black mange kind of as my pve job so i guess there's a relation there so yeah it's not it's not hoary boulder man
01:21:52
Speaker
I just like his name. It's one of the best NPC names out there. Yeah, for sure. You got that and you got one name like two great NPCs there. Favorite class overall. See, it's interesting because I categorize them differently depending on what content you're talking to me about. So if I just stick at the deep dungeon, it's probably still kind of red mage the OG. I mean, it's my it's my profile pic on social media. I still kind of.
01:22:20
Speaker
Identify with like the red mage attire PV right now. It's still black major I think I'm still sticking with black mage when Don show comes in. So I'll go with those two. Okay, and And lastly, are you doing anything to prep yourself for Don trail within the game? Like um
01:22:38
Speaker
Not as a mandatory thing. I actually still need to do the story leading into the end of the patch cycle. But I'm going to save that to like closer to Dawn Trail at this point. I haven't been really worried about spoilers, so I'm like, yeah, just chill on it. I am planning to do, which I did last time for Endwalker Prep, was just running the classes that are going to be similar to the new classes that are coming out, because that's what I'm going to be doing on Early Access, is that we're going to run
01:23:06
Speaker
Viper and Pictomancer into the 3d dungeons. Oh, yeah So, you know if you if y'all if anyone needs a spoiler free stream I got you because we are not gonna touch the stores at all a spoiler free stream to check out those new classes Definitely go check that out. That's that's that's that's definitely a cool way to showcase them Yeah, and how they work at their lower levels too because they'll be still be still be starting even higher than what you'll have access to in palace and heaven on high and
01:23:35
Speaker
Yeah, and that's, that's a lot of the fun too is that you're learning a job on the fly and some of the hardest content. And it'll be interesting to see how it compares to Reaper and Sage because I remember when I did Reaper in Heaven on High, I was so confused because I'm looking at my, my hot bar and like,
01:23:52
Speaker
There's so many empty spaces here. Is this okay? Is this how I'm supposed to build this job? And that is because it's a lot more meant for 90 content, but it was an interesting view on how they structured the job for the six account, the seven account, the 80 account. And so I'll be interested to see that.
01:24:11
Speaker
And we'll be we'll be going for like the the non-official world first clear for the for the deep dungeons too, which I know a lot of the community will be interested in trying to do themselves. So heck be a lot of fun. Heck yeah. I'm excited for I'm excited for Viper because it's it's definitely like people are saying because it hasn't been confirmed yet, but people are saying it's most likely going to take the scouting gear that Ninja has.
01:24:36
Speaker
But like with how it looks, it looks more like a naming class, though, doesn't it? Like with how it seems to play, at least also not wrong. But I know people are relating it to Zidane. So it would be a little more thiefy, if you will.
01:24:54
Speaker
Yeah, so it makes sense to be scouting just on the distribution of gear, like logically speaking. Yeah, logically speaking, Ninja is the only one that uses scouting, so it makes sense to give the second scouting class for it. So yeah, definitely. All right. I think

And first thing I've got to ask, how was your experience with that test of a rebirth? You have finished the main story and you are currently just working on clean up for the platinum trophy, correct? That's right. Yeah. So how would you rank the story?
01:26:22
Speaker
Without spoilers, how would you rank this? Yeah, so unless you ask me something direct, I'll be very respectful on spoilers. There might be some small spoilers that are brought up here. If any spoilers are brought up, it'll probably be within the first 10 hours of the game, because that's how far I am. So that's the most spoilery stuff you'll probably get from this, just as a content warning. All right, you may continue.
01:26:50
Speaker
Um, I think easily I've been, I've said this to someone else. I think easily that game is like game of the year for me currently from what I played. Not that I played that much, but I mean, in terms of like, you know, how the game is, what, how much time I've put into that game, how much content is there, and just the overall experience has been mind blowing to me. I, I am eating it up and I'm almost, even though I put so much time into that, I'm still feeling like a little sad that I will reach the end. Although I do want to beat it by now, but
01:27:19
Speaker
I'm savoring every minute of it. Nice. How many hours do you have in this game? 155, currently. My God. And how much? I think I'm still two days away from finishing it. Two days? Okay, so that's like another 16 hours? Yeah, I hope it's less, but... Okay. I hope I finished it today, but I don't think so. What do you have left to do with 100%ing this game?
01:27:45
Speaker
Um, so let's assume yourself and like most of the audience probably played remake. Yes. I fully plot them to remake. So, so the best way I can put it is a child exists, right? So it's his extra challenges that I have left to do. Okay. So the simulation fights. Yeah. That's what I have left to do. Okay. That's not that bad. That's, that's really not that bad. How, how, how would you rank his, uh, do you have a favorite simulation fight so far? Um,
01:28:16
Speaker
Any of the summons? Yeah, not a spoiler. I won't say which one specifically because that'll be kind of spoilery in my opinion. But the summons have been probably my highlight. I took one of them. It's funny. There's one that I won't mention the name, but there's one a little bit later that you'll see that my interpretation of what I needed to do on the fight led me to believe that I needed to solo it. So I soldered it on Tifa and it took me like four hours to prog it.
01:28:43
Speaker
And we beat it. And it was on full might. It was on the most difficult version of it. To save spoilers, but to have people who have reset far, what...
01:28:55
Speaker
region of the world. I think that was I think that was an evil high. I believe. OK. OK. Good to know. Yeah, I have nowhere near that. I'm only in June on. And I want to point I want to point out, like, I don't think you need to do it solo. It's just that's how I interpreted. OK. But the fight told me. But it was fun. Like it was it was a blast. And that was that's going to be probably my last thing. Fight memory currently that I that I will remember from the game. That's cool. That's super cool. How would you compare Rebirth to Remake?
01:29:27
Speaker
Um, I don't know. They're very different. I mean, we make, we mentioned it earlier, right? We make is pretty, pretty straightforward and on the rails. I would say, I would say that like, well, yes, rebirth is kind of the same way where it's like linear in the story sense of like, you're going from region to region, but you have the, Oh, I can go explore things in between my, my linear story parts.
01:29:51
Speaker
Yeah, and it's like it's like open world light in a way, but the open world is very vast. You feel very free to do whatever the heck you want. Yeah. Kind of in almost any order kind of very vast story full of a lot of mini games I've heard.
01:30:08
Speaker
Yeah, it is mini game city. But I think our our our guest last week, Red Panda, he compared it like if you like Yakuza, you're going to like this with just the amount of mini games that there are. Yeah, I.
01:30:26
Speaker
I don't know, I personally enjoyed it. It was, I mean, to me, some of like, okay, staying on the comparison of remake and rebirth, I think the difficulty has ramped up from remake, which was one thing I actually partially complained internally about remake before the DLC came in that I felt like things were just that easy. Got through a lot of things pretty quickly.
01:30:48
Speaker
And even the minigames are challenging. They're very hard. And some of the fights are really hard. So it's like it gives between the minigames and the fights. I think it gives a nice break between the two of them. You know, you get this kind of mental break of doing something completely different, which is still part of the game. And then you get back into the grind of like, you know, the fighting and the story and all that stuff. So I felt like it paced really, really well.
01:31:11
Speaker
And not to mention, you don't even have to do any of it. If you're tired of it, just skip them. Just go through the story. And I think that's what's great about the game, too, is that a lot of it isn't really mandatory. It's there if you want to. But yeah, and I think that's great about the game. You can probably wrap up the story in a couple dozen hours. I read this thing today. It's like 30, 40 hours is really all the story is.
01:31:33
Speaker
Yeah, and play it on easy if you want to. You'll still get a really good time for how much that game costs if you just want to play it super, super casual. I think that's what makes the game great. All righty. And lastly, aside from the one that you've given, what's another favorite non-spoiler moment in the game for you?
01:31:55
Speaker
Okay, let's assume you and the audience have probably played OG7. My favorite part was just anything involving the gold saucer. Alright. That was just a delight when I got to that part.
01:32:08
Speaker
Alrighty, good to know. Alright, I think we're going to leave our rebirth stuff there because again, it's still very fresh with people. We don't want to super spoil it. So with that, let's dive in to the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
01:32:27
Speaker
And starting off, we got This Week in Gaming History from April 8th to 21st. Here's what happened in the past major event-wise. On the 11th in 1983, Nintendo's Minoru Arakawa and Howard Lincoln begin negotiations with Atari on the manufacturing distribution of a Nintendo-designed video game system. Nintendo demonstrates a prototype family computer running Donkey Kong and Popeye.
01:32:52
Speaker
On the 15th of 1997, Disney Interactive laid off about 20% of its workforce ending in-house productions of video games. On the 15th of 1999, Sega of America announced the Dreamcast video game system will be released in the US on September 9th for retail price of about $199. The company will spend $100 million marketing the system.
01:33:18
Speaker
And in 2000, on April 21st, Sonic Team was founded in Tokyo, Japan. As for games celebrating some birthdays during these next two weeks, on the ninth Super Super Paper Mario turns 17. On the 10th, Final Fantasy VII Remake turns four years old. On the 13th, Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past turns 32.
01:33:46
Speaker
On the 15th, Breath of Fire 2 for the Game Boy Advance turns 22. On the 18th, Brain Age turns, hold on, math, 4, 14, 18. Brain Age can start drinking in Canada at least. On the 19th in 82, Dig Dug, which is 18 plus 24, that makes 40.
01:34:12
Speaker
Two. 42. I'm good at my maths. I'm good at my mental maths. I'm doing good. This is the best I've ever done. April 19th as well. Psychonauts turns 19. And on the 20th, Pokรฉmon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness both turn 16. Those are some game birthdays for you that you can keep an eye out for.
01:34:38
Speaker
You know about Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I kind of forgot that it was April 10th, but I knew it was four years from now. I had a viewer come like we're just talking off and they're like, do you realize that when the third installment of seven comes out will be an 8.0 and 14? I'm like, you're right. Yeah, holy shit. That's crazy. That's going to be wild when that happens. That's going to be nuts. Yeah.
01:35:06
Speaker
All right, we know about the top five. This was for Angeles here. Top five floor bosses of the deep dungeons. Top one behemoth easily. It's just the one that most the community will fear that we always instill fear on people to worry about, even though it's gotten easier with the years over the expansions. It's still one that will will get people considering that.
01:35:31
Speaker
You have to spend nearly 10 hours to get there, and then you have to spend another 10 hours to try it again. And it tests things that are not tangible.

Challenging Boss Fights and Emotional Storylines

01:35:40
Speaker
It's not really so much the rotation. It's actually monitoring your nerves and anxiety levels and whatever it might be. It's just something that just does, I think, something very special in 14 that nothing else does, that one boss.
01:35:54
Speaker
And then I probably would put Godfather second in floor 190 because that will also trip up depending on the job that you're doing. He's, he hits hard. He does not, he does not let you breathe a lot of times and trying to master that fight will take a while. It's very intimidating for melee, but really good fight. Um, now three, four and five, I'd probably put, um,
01:36:17
Speaker
I probably would put a floor 90 in Eureka Orthos. That's actually my favorite boss in Eureka Orthos, the administrator, which is a very fast fight, kind of mechanically heavy, but it's a fast fight. And I really enjoy that. Like it has mechanics where you have to kind of already like, like it presents all the mechanics to you. You have to kind of figure out what it's going to do and then adjust the strategy as it starts firing off things one at a time.
01:36:41
Speaker
The surprise 99 boss and Eureka Orthos which was great to see and I hope they continue that in any future deep dungeons Because even pallets and heaven on high sometimes the last 10 can be a little bit of a victory lap for some people So to still have to worry about a stressful thing at the final floor really good fit boss I don't know maybe floor 90 heaven on high and
01:37:03
Speaker
I mean, the initial product for that boss to figure out the strats over time was fun. I mean, doing the boss now is kind of a little bit walk in the park only because the strats have just been secure. But if I was to give it credit for from the day it was released into figuring out strats, that was a fun fight. All right. We now move on to head to head. Two games enter, one game leaves.
01:37:30
Speaker
Did a little bit of digging to figure out what two games I could put that aren't final Aren't file fantasy, but we still ended up with a file fantasy on there, but it's very different than a lot of the others So we got near replicant versus stranger of paradise Angeles which one of these two games wins? That's hard. I think I actually lean into near okay near Just has a really emotional story um
01:37:56
Speaker
And that was one that last that definitely sits with me. Stranger Paradise actually had a good story. Um, even though it was memed on initially, actually they, they, they memed on themselves. Um, but it was more than, it was more than just the chaos. I mean, the chaos was actually really just the first like the chaos was the friends we made along the way.
01:38:15
Speaker
Yeah, and actually the twist at the end was awesome and all the little bits of story in between. And actually going into a Team Ninja game, I was actually really concerned about the story because I was burnt on Dissidia NT because I played the old Dissidia in PSP and I thought the story, the way they handled the story and the combination of characters wishes.
01:38:33
Speaker
Afterpiece and then you go into the city NT and they're like wait, there's like plot holes everywhere I'm like, what happened to the story? Like this is the one thing I liked about the game So I was worried about going to strangers, but I thought they handled it awesome Did you play the DLC for it the what was it the bomb it and the
01:38:53
Speaker
What was that? Gilgamesh was the second one, I think. Yeah, I only did the first one. I got it. I kind of got a little burnt out on strangers because it was getting a little too grindy for me at the time that I was going for. Yeah, I grinded a certain level over and over again so I could get the platinum trophy. Yeah, like and that was all I did for like the postgame grinding when if you want to do the DLC properly, you got to grind so much more.
01:39:19
Speaker
Yeah, and it was rough, the DLC, but, you know, I still credit it for a pretty good story. And honestly, for an action RPG, which I typically don't, I typically stay away from, it was a lot of fun. Very fun game. But New Replicant, the story for there, the graphics were great, the voice acting was top-notch. Not to say The Strangers was bad voice acting, but they really had good ones there, and yeah, it was more memorable.
01:39:43
Speaker
All right, we now move on to Tony's game poll, which is a poll we have every season. Our question this season is, if a Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add a Disney Pixar world, what world would you add? A new one. If you're asking me, I have no idea. I don't play the Kingdom Hearts series, and I don't know what's already in there, so I really can't give a good answer. I mean, you can take a swing. I'll take anything, really. I'll let you know if it's been added as well.
01:40:13
Speaker
What's a recent Disney movie that came out? I don't even know. Yeah, I don't even know what came out recently, dude. I don't know, whatever is recent. I'm so out of the loop on that one. All right, fair enough. No, no results on this one, but that's okay. No, if you asked me like, you know, what they should put in like Final Fantasy.
01:40:40
Speaker
Because they have the Final Fantasy characters that sit in Kingdom Hearts, right? Yeah, actually, yeah. What Final Fantasy characters would you like to see in Kingdom Hearts? Funny, I would probably, the first thing that came to mind is probably each of Lightning, which they can rename as her, like, original name, which is like, player, I think, right?
01:40:56
Speaker
Um, because they like to rename those characters in kingdom hearts. I mean like something they gave they gave a lore reason on squall slash leon Which is what like I don't deserve to be called squall anymore Because I couldn't save my fucking town from the the heartless. So i'm just leon It's just like oh, okay. Cool
01:41:22
Speaker
Yeah, there's like a whole fucking more reason on that. It's just like, what tomorrow? What do you mean? At least it makes sense, I guess. I guess. But yeah, maybe lightning or Clive, one of those two. Clive would be Clive would be cool. I imagine. Imagine seeing Sora next to Clive. The vast difference. I killed my brother, Sora. Spoilers, by the way. Whoops. I mean, two hour spoilers. It's the fucking.
01:41:52
Speaker
The fucking first two hours. Play the demo. Put fucking... I killed my brother Sora. There's so much darkness in my heart. Clive, you gotta go to the light! You gotta follow the light in your heart there, Clive. Believe in friendship. Ah! And then Donald just says something. Yeah, Clive! Listen to Sora!
01:42:15
Speaker
That would be the weirdest thing to see, actually, now that I'm thinking about it, is 16 cross-kingdom hearts. Yeah, that'd be pretty interesting. Or even better, you put Jack from Stranger's and the anti-hero just doesn't care. Jack, we gotta go stop the Heartless. Sure, whatever. Chaos. Chaos is with the Heartless. I have to stop them.
01:42:42
Speaker
Okay, sure. Yeah, it'd be weird to say the least. I think it'd be hilarious. You know what? I feel like Nomura would put Jack in because he's like he just loves fucking plot hole. He just loves like just all that shit. I feel like it would be perfect for Nomura. Yeah.
01:43:02
Speaker
Our deals of the week on Epic, you can get the Outer Worlds, Spacers Choice Editions, and Thief the 2014 version until April 11th for free, and there is currently a Frontier publisher sale going on on Steam. The achievement of the week is South Park's Snow Day, the Green Seas, which is to make four enemies vomit at once, and the game of the week is going to Final Fantasy XVI's The Rising Tide DLC.
01:43:24
Speaker
And lastly our guest game recommendation if there is one video game Angeles in the world old or new That you would recommend to the audience to play what game would that be? Talk to bath traveler one and two both two then one I guess is to a prequel
01:43:41
Speaker
So how can I best explain this? You can think of Octopath. You can think of Octopath Traveler a little adjacent to Final Fantasy in the way they handle, I guess you can say, the numerical ones. It's in the universe, but they make literally almost like point like a one percent reference to the. Oh, gotcha. So it's actually hard to tell even it's in the future or the past. It's just it's like it's there.
01:44:07
Speaker
I think there's one bit at the very end of the game that has some reference to the first one, but it's still hard to decipher what the real connection is. So you can play two and just skip one, be completely fine. And two is actually just, I think mechanically, a lot more quality of life versus the first one, but both of them are fantastic. And I mentioned at the top, the soundtrack is literally top tier.
01:44:31
Speaker
