Season 3 Episode 14

In this episode we respond to a recent email from a fellow dreamer named Madelaine from Germany. Margaux explains intercession dreams: when we are observing the whole dream and not interacting in it at all. She also interprets two intercession dreams that Madelaine shared in the email to help hone in on the message from God for her. In these two dreams God used celebrity figures to speak about the nature of the characters and ends up unfolding a beautiful message from the heart of the Father to his beloved daughters! These two dreams were had at the same time and were closely linked, which is something we should apply as a general rule. When dreams come together, even if the content seems completely unrelated at face value, they are absolutely connected! Just jump in with the interpretation tools you’ve been learning, look for the threads and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal is voice to you. You got this!

Seeking Divine Wisdom

00:00:00
Speaker
We were designed to hunger for the deep things of God, to thrive on faith and wonder, to seek out divine wisdom that defies human logic. We were designed to unlock the mysteries of God. This is Breathing Underwater.

Hello,

Introduction to Margo's Passion

00:00:30
Speaker
hello. This is season three, episode 14 of Breathing Underwater. I'm your host. My name is Margo. I love talking about dreams and all things interpretation oriented and hearing God's voice. Today, we're going to do a little baby refresh of a concept that actually was brought to my attention by apparently my biggest fan in Germany. Madeline, thank you so much. for sending me that lovely email. I felt the Holy Spirit was really highlighting so much of what you were saying. And I wanted to speak to your questions for you. And for those of you who've been following and listening, this might answer some questions for you as well.

Dream Interpretation Approach

00:01:09
Speaker
And I'm going to do some live interpretation of a couple dreams that she sent me. Now, if you know me, I love to interpret in person. I love to have a conversation because the interpretation of the dream is really going to sit with the dreamer.
00:01:24
Speaker
God gave the dreamer that dream for a reason. He didn't give it to me. He gave it to them. And the keys to unlocking that dream are going to lie with the dreamer. Now, of course, I have been practicing dream interpretation and I have some history with it and some skills and tools that I'm passing on to you. And honestly, it's always helpful to bring someone else into the dream when you feel like you you don't quite know what God is talking about, so I'm happy to do it. But I just wanted to kind of refresh this conviction I have that the interpretation really is going to fall with the dreamer, but we get to help and and bring what we sense Holy Spirit is saying to help unlock what the dream is about.

Symbolism in Dreams

00:02:09
Speaker
Now, I actually think there's a great value in learning also to interpret blindly.
00:02:14
Speaker
And by blindly, I mean the person is not there and you're not getting feedback from them because then you're relying entirely on the structures that you've learned and the symbolic language that you've learned from God. Of course, there's more room for error or at least room to offer an interpretation and then that person can discern it more specifically to their life. And if I have learned anything,
00:02:40
Speaker
about dreams. It's that they can continue to unfold, continue to have layers of interpretation over months, over years, over decades.

Evolving Messages in Dreams

00:02:51
Speaker
When we're receiving intel from God through a dream, it's the Word of God and Scripture tells us that the Word of God is living and active.
00:02:59
Speaker
It is alive, right? And so there's going to be movement and elasticity, if you will, and it's going to have different meanings in different times and seasons. Now, if it's a literal dream and it actually came to pass, then usually that's that. But what I have found, especially with the more metaphorical, even though they do have a literal application and understanding in your life at that moment and purpose,
00:03:29
Speaker
is that they continue to have layers that bring insight over the years. So when I do this interpretation today, I'm going to bring what I sense that God is saying and really the discernment and the recognition of the interpretation is going to be up to Madeleine.

Madeline's Dreams Overview

00:03:48
Speaker
And I might offer something that's really different than she thought, but my interpretation could be accurate and so could hers. So there could be multi facets to it and
00:03:59
Speaker
There may be an interpretation for this that will come down the road. I have found that so often with my own dreams is that I get into it and I can interpret and there's a layer that I get, but then a few months down the road, boom, something happens. God reminds me of something. I read a scripture. I watch a movie. Something happens and it triggers that, that dream. And then it's like, aha, that is definitely the meaning now.

Patience in Interpretation

00:04:23
Speaker
Or it's,
00:04:24
Speaker
for another time. I always think that it's worth trying to interpret or getting some revelation for it in the moment. There are times when it's just completely veiled when you try to do that. And I would just say, don't try to get blood from a stone. Just if you are not getting anything and it feels like hard rock, it's probably not for that moment. The Holy Spirit is faithful to reveal what he's showing you in a dream because he wants to speak to you. He wants you to have that intel. He wants that intimacy. So if it's just not coming, leave it.
00:04:54
Speaker
However, I would always sit with the dream as soon as you can and get some interpretation for it, knowing that there is likely a time coming down the road as well where it'll be like, click! That's it. And it isn't necessarily one wrong and one right.
00:05:10
Speaker
there's so much to the living Word of God. Okay, I think we're on the same page here. I am going to say one last thing before I jump into the interpretation is when I say it doesn't mean that one is right and one is wrong, I'm still going to be really encouraging you to judge interpretation.

Judging Interpretations

00:05:31
Speaker
scripture tells us that we're meant to judge prophetic words based on scripture, based on what God is already saying in our lives, based on if we have a resonance and a witness in our spirit or not. Sometimes, especially when it's maybe a bigger deal or more complicated, we want to bring in ah mentors and other authorities in our life so that we can get their take on something. So I'm not saying don't judge it. If someone brings you the interpretation for a dream and it just feels totally wrong,
00:06:02
Speaker
judge that with the Holy Spirit that could easily be fruit saying this this wasn't the interpretation and that's okay because we're all practicing hearing the Word of God. It also might mean oh maybe I just don't really like that interpretation and so I'm gonna leave that and down the road it might end up having some truth.
00:06:24
Speaker
That is up for you to discern. And just remember that God is always for drawing us close to him. So if you have a dream and what you're interpreting makes you feel further away or separated or it makes you feel shame or it makes you feel afraid, do not receive that interpretation. Either flush it if you definitely know it's from the enemy or put it on the shelf and just wait and see what comes down the road.
00:07:07
Speaker
Hello, welcome

Themes of Reconnection and Pursuit

00:07:08
Speaker
back. We are going to jump in to this email that the lovely Madeline sent me from Germany. Thank you again for this email. I love it when you guys email me because I get a grid for your questions and what God's showing you and where you're at. It's very helpful for me and I just love to get to know you as well.
00:07:25
Speaker
So I'm going to first address a question that she has, which may be something that you're thinking about as well. I have taught on this before on the podcast, but this will just be a refresher. The question that she asked me is, what does it mean when you have a dream when you're the observer, not the participant? Like you're not actually participating in it. You're just watching the whole thing happen. This has a pretty specific meaning and it has to do with intercession.
00:07:51
Speaker
So one of the key questions we ask ourselves when we first sit down to interpret a dream is who or what is it about? And this is when we can discern is it about us or is it actually about someone else, which is usually a call to prayer. If you are interacting in the dream, if people are talking to you, if you have a role in it, then it is likely about you. Even in those situations where there's people you know in it and they they have a big part to play, it's tempting to think, oh, it's probably about them.
00:08:20
Speaker
If you are in it and you are interacting and you are a part of the whole thing, it is about you. I would just go with that each time. God can always correct you if that's wrong, but I would go with that. I know it's really hard too because sometimes like that doesn't make sense. But the people in our dreams aren't always literally them, right? They can be what their name represents. They could be a part of ourselves. But the vast majority of our dreams are about us. So that's mostly what you're going to see.
00:08:46
Speaker
When it's not that way, just like Madeline's dreams, where she's mostly observing, she's not in them at all, that would be an indicator that it's ah an intercession dream. And this is really God giving you insight into a situation, whether it's with people that you know or something that's personal to you, or it has to do with people you don't know that you'll never meet. It's just something he's corporately doing. This is him sharing his heart with you so that you partner in prayer to bring his purposes to pass in these situations.
00:09:16
Speaker
Okay, I hope that helps. Now both of these dreams that Madeline sent me, I am deducing through this email that she was just an observer in these. So I would say that these are intersession dreams. And there are two of them that came back to back. And so I'm really glad that she sent them with me together because they happened in the same moment in the same night, back to back, which means they're definitely related. And as we start to get into the content of it, I think it'll become more clear that there is a link here.
00:09:45
Speaker
So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna read both of the dreams that she sent me straight from her email. Then I'm gonna give interpretation for kind of both of them together. Okay, the first dream she called two sisters.

Dream of Two Sisters

00:09:59
Speaker
This is what she said. The first dream was about two sisters. One of the sisters was played by Jennifer Goodwin, who's from Once Upon a Time, and the other one was unfamiliar. The two sisters had lost their mother and had no contact with their father. They were under the care of a legal guardian played by Eugene Levy from Schitt's Creek, that TV show.
00:10:22
Speaker
Interestingly, when I recorded this dream, I used the word a guardian in English, which has multiple meanings, whereas the German word only has one meaning. In the dream, the father wanted to reconnect with his daughters, and a meeting between him and the younger sister was arranged.
00:10:39
Speaker
but he had to pay a few hundred dollars or euros. that The older sister and the guardian wanted the father to pay more as to test to see if he was serious about meeting the daughter. I think she demanded double or triple the amount.
00:10:55
Speaker
The father, who was played by Patrick Dempsey from Grey's Anatomy, didn't hesitate and agreed to pay the sum. Later there was a scene in which the father spoke with the guardian telling him that he had bought a house near the sisters who lived in some sort of orphanage. The father emphasized that he wanted to be a part of his daughter's lives and the guardian repeated that he just wanted to make sure that the sisters would be okay.
00:11:22
Speaker
Then she says, I'm not entirely sure, but I think the last scene showed the older sister dancing at some kind of a party. Okay. Dream two, she calls getting in touch.

False Pretenses in Dreams

00:11:34
Speaker
The second dream was about a policeman who was definitely younger than this woman, a woman played by Maya Rudolph from Bridesmaids.
00:11:44
Speaker
They met when the policeman was conducting a police operation in the woman's residential area. The woman wasn't sure whether the policeman was interested in her, but he was. He tried to get in touch with her under false pretenses. He orchestrated the woman's cat going missing and participated in the search for the cat in order to make contact with her. He also purposefully hurt himself on a car window, though I can't remember why.
00:12:10
Speaker
She goes on to say, regarding the cast in my dreams, I've never recalled a dream with so many celebrities in it, though no one of them are special to me. I just particularly enjoyed the shows with the Eugene Levy and Patrick Dempsey, but that's about it.
00:12:24
Speaker
Okay, such helpful information because Madeline, if you were sitting in front of me, one of my first questions would be, do you have any context with these celebrities that came up? Are they people that you really love? Are they from your favorite movies? Because that could definitely influence what God is saying to you.
00:12:44
Speaker
The first thing that I did when I was looking at these dreams is I saw the threads. I started to see the patterns and she even in the email recognized, oh, it stood out to her that in both dreams, there was this theme of getting in touch.

Celebrities as Symbols

00:12:58
Speaker
Even in the first one with the father who was estranged, getting in touch with the daughters. And in the second one, the policeman was trying to get in touch with this one and pursue her.
00:13:10
Speaker
My first thoughts were really about, okay, what, what do these celebrities represent? And if you've been watching the podcast, nope, not watching it. If you've been listening to the podcast, you know that when people show up in our dreams, there are many different ways we can interpret, or at least we want to investigate what they might mean. They could be literal, which in this case is not true. Definitely not a literal dream.
00:13:40
Speaker
um or they could have to do with who that character played in the movie and how is that significant to the plot. It's also really common for God to use someone whose name means something that would unlock some of the content or symbolism of the dream. So I was kind of going at this a couple different ways, waiting until the Holy Spirit was landing on something, and this is what I thought was really interesting.
00:14:09
Speaker
So both of the men in this dream, Eugene Levy and Patrick Dempsey, both of their first names have to do with nobility. One, Eugene's name means nobility and Patrick means nobleman.
00:14:25
Speaker
Okay, there's something there. Jennifer Goodwin, I didn't look up the meaning of her name because I felt like the Holy Spirit was showing me. Jennifer Goodwin in Once Upon a Time, she plays Snow White. And I thought that this was really speaking to righteousness of God's followers. So we have been washed white as snow, right? Even though our sins are scarlet.
00:14:49
Speaker
He has made us white as snow. And so I believe this is talking to the peer about the purity or the righteousness of the of these sisters, or at least of this one sister in particular. And then there's these two men who are both noble. Okay, that's really interesting.
00:15:06
Speaker
When we jump to the second dream, and I'm thinking about this man, policeman, and Maya Rudolph, I get a little bit of a different feeling. So Maya means honored or esteemed. So I think this is also talking to ah talking about a woman of Godly character, one of God's kids, someone that's following him.
00:15:28
Speaker
But the policemen, which if you remember, we've talked about authorities and dreams firemen, policemen, highway patrolmen, jailers, those kinds of people who are in a place of authority are often representing the angelic, whether it's positive or negative, because we know that there's negative angelic, right, that are principalities and powers, and there's positive that are principalities and powers. So the fact that this policeman was trying to get in touch with her under false pretenses is an indicator that this is not positive. So I would say, because God's angels would not do that, but fallen angels, a more demonic kind of authority, I could definitely see that happening. So here's already a contrast between this first dream and the second dream, where the authorities or the fathers, the authority figures are really different. They're contrasting.
00:16:27
Speaker
Okay, in the first dream, when she was talking about the two sisters who had lost their mother and had no contact with their father, and then their father reached out to them because he wanted to reconnect with them, I immediately thought of Father God.

Father Figure as God

00:16:43
Speaker
I immediately thought about how he goes out of his way to reconnect with us when we feel like orphans.
00:16:51
Speaker
And Romans even talks about a spirit of adoption, where when we receive Jesus, the Spirit of God...
00:17:01
Speaker
confirms within us and validates that we are children of God and that this the spirit of adoption come and it comes and makes us children of God because of what Jesus did. So because she mentioned an orphanage in here, I'm thinking, yeah, I think we're on track here. So if we're looking at this metaphorically, these women these women were spiritual Orphans. And God is, Father God, is wanting to pursue them. The fact that he had to pay a fee, that's what Jesus did. He literally paid the cost that was meant to be our cost so that we could be reconciled.
00:17:38
Speaker
And then with the second daughter, when she asked for double or triple the amount and he didn't even hesitate and agree to pay the sum, that sounds so much like the Lord, doesn't it? It's so much like the Father. It would be so easy in the natural with other humans to feel offended that the daughters would ask them to pay and like, what's that about? But isn't that something that we do so often with God? We're like, can you prove your trustworthiness to me?
00:18:07
Speaker
And each time he comes through, each time he's like, absolutely, I'm going to show you again and again who I am. Because he knows that we have orphan mentalities so often and we are relearning who we are and we're relearning who he is.
00:18:24
Speaker
So the sum of this first stream, I would say, overarchingly, is the father showing that he is pursuing his daughters, that he would pay any price, that he has paid the greatest price, but that he he is really wanting his daughters to know that they're not orphans and that he's a good father who wants to be close with them. That is the overarching interpretation that I would get.
00:18:48
Speaker
from this dream. Now, this Guardian is an interesting character. This Guardian, who is Eugene Levy, and his name means nobility,
00:19:00
Speaker
He is positive. So often if I would think of a guardian, I would definitely immediately think of the angelic, which may be true. However, when we get to the part of the dream where the guardian is a part of wanting the father to pay and being like, hey, can you prove your trustworthiness? That doesn't totally work out because the angelic knows God's angels, his messengers, they are in such a reverence of God and the father that they wouldn't need to be convinced of that, right? so Interesting. That doesn't totally fit, so I'm just getting curious. And what I thought of is this. So we often have self-protection, right? We often have parts of us that want to keep us safe because bad things have happened to us in the past. So we have parts of ourselves who want to protect us. I'm sure all of you have at one point in your life said,
00:19:54
Speaker
um i You know, I think this thing, but a part of me just doesn't know, I'm not sure I can trust them, or you've actually felt your guard come up. That's speaking to a part of us that's trying to protect us. And we do all kinds of things, healthy and unhealthy, to keep ourselves safe, right? And so in this case, because the guardian actually had a positive attribute. It was also talking about nobility. I think maybe this was meet the protection mechanism of daughters who have been hurt, who are wanting to make sure that this person who is pursuing them
00:20:33
Speaker
is actually who they say they are and is is trustworthy, which is a really good thing to do. And you can see in this dream that that father wasn't offended at all. He just paid what was meant to be paid. So my deduction is that this could be talking about something God is wanting to do corporately.
00:20:52
Speaker
Maybe specifically Madeline, this is in your community. Maybe this is something you're gonna see in ministry. Maybe this is something but that's going to be quite literal that you're gonna see play out with women. Maybe it's going to be a part of your calling is to pray for this or help women walk into this. I don't quite know yet, but I definitely think this is an invitation into knowing his heart more for his daughters.
00:21:18
Speaker
and what he's wanting to do in this hour to make sure that his daughters know that they're daughters, know that they're washed white as snow, know that they are noble, nobility, royalty. So I would take that to him and just ask.
00:21:34
Speaker
a little bit more. Ask more questions. How do you want me to pray? He could be revealing his heart to you just so that you pray, or he could just be revealing his heart to you so that you know him

God's Pursuit vs Deceptive Forces

00:21:44
Speaker
even better. But because you are observing, my sense is this is definitely an intercession type dream.
00:21:51
Speaker
I love that it also played out like a lot like a movie. And so that to me often makes me think too of an intercession. If you're watching something play out like, oh, look at all the characters. This is what's happening. I mean, that is definitely a God language. It is definitely like Jesus teaching parables. You know, that was maybe the modern day storytelling really at that point.
00:22:15
Speaker
And these days, movies are big, long parables full of metaphors. So it's definitely an indicator that it's a God language. It's a God dream. Now in the second one, like I said, they're really tied.
00:22:31
Speaker
But in the second one, again, the daughter, the woman, was esteemed, honored. I think that's just another indicator. It's a noble woman. It's a woman of God. But the policeman was operating under false pretenses, which makes me go, this is not good. This is him trying to pull the wool over her eyes or trying to get her affections through an unpure method, right?
00:22:59
Speaker
Now, why was it a policeman? I think probably just wanting to point out that there's even spiritual um assignments behind these things that are that are coming after God's daughters, trying to get their trust, but are actually in disguise and praying into women having the wherewithal to ask the questions, to be discerning, to not just take things and people at face value,
00:23:27
Speaker
But to unmask what's really happening in a situation. In the first dream, the doubters were like, I'm going to need you to pay so that you can show me, prove to me that you're trustworthy. In the second one, that would have been something pretty safe too, of asking for some sort of proof.
00:23:45
Speaker
investigating a little more to see if this person was trustworthy. So to me, I think these two dreams contrast where God may be showing you something at play that you're meant to pray into and that women and his daughters would be safe, that they would know who they are and what they're worth.
00:24:04
Speaker
when I think of women who myself included, especially when I was younger, would kind of believe anything when a man would come to me and share his affection or want to be where I i was. I was not secure enough in my worth. I wasn't secure enough in being able to trust that I could trust my discernment to actually ask the questions and make him actually prove his trustworthiness and earn my trust then I was stepping into all kinds of situations that were not helpful for me. But as I've gotten older and I've learned more and more about who I am and my value to God, I have a very different way of going about dating, a very different way about going about relationships. So I think that these two are definitely speaking to the same kind of dynamics and they're an invitation into
00:24:58
Speaker
prayer for God's daughters to really know their identity, to really know that their father loves them and who they belong to.

Invitation for Feedback

00:25:08
Speaker
Now, there might be so much more that will come out of this for you, Madeline. There might be so much more that will come out of it. There might be really specific things that happen in your life and you'll go,
00:25:17
Speaker
Oh, that's it. That's exactly it. But I'm just giving you my kind of overarching sense right now. So I am going to leave that with you. And I've already invited Madeline to please, once she listens to the podcast, email me, give me feedback, which I will bring back to you guys so that you can hear how accurate this was or not. And this is one of the things that's important to me too, is if I was off with that, I am really happy to own it because I am always wanting to learn as well.
00:25:45
Speaker
And if there's a more specific interpretation that applies to her life, I wanna know what that is. Okay, that's all I have for you today. I look forward to being with you again next time and I look forward to hearing from you, Madeline. Until then, happy dreaming and keep diving deeper.
