Speaker: We were designed to hunger for the deep things of God, to thrive on faith and wonder, to seek out divine wisdom that defies human logic. We were designed to unlock the mysteries of God.
Speaker: This is Breathing Underwater.
Speaker: Test, test, test. Is this mic on? Oh, good. Well, welcome back to Breathing Underwater. My name's Margo. I'm a little cheesy. I am your host. I'm very happy to be with you today.
Speaker: Welcome. The show we have today is going to be short and sweet, but I think it's going to bring a good amount of freedom and some clarity to some of you. I first want to address my saga dreamers out there. You know who you are. And when I say saga dreamers, I mean those of you who dream in sagas nightly.
Speaker: You have the longest dreams. You have incredibly detailed dreams. There's multiple scenes to your dreams. You may even have like a four to six part series happening while you're asleep.
Speaker: First of all, I just want to commend you. I don't dream that way, but I know many people that do, and it is not for the faint of heart. So here I am applauding you. Truly well done for sticking with dream interpretation when your dreams are as long as yours.
Speaker: Well done getting the hand cramp, writing down all of the details from your dream that you just had the night before. It is different for saga dreamers than it is for the rest of us.
Speaker: But what I wanted to highlight today is going to be especially applicable to those of you who dream in sagas and a million details, but not just to those of you who dream that way. Any of you who are getting bogged down in the details of your dream where you feel like you're in the muck and you cannot figure out what this dream is about, you don't know what to prioritize, this is what I want to talk about today.
Speaker: If you are a saga dreamer, it is probably because you're a very detail-oriented person, which is an absolute gift for sure. You've probably gotten flack from people, hurry up, can you just make a decision? You don't have to know all the details perfectly. And I just want to tell your sweetheart, first of all,
Speaker: It is so beautiful that you are so detail-oriented. God made you that way. There is nothing wrong with you. You are designed that way for a purpose that is actually very important.
Speaker: And if we're going to be real, there is no one more detail-oriented than God, okay? So this is not something that you need to feel bad about. But I know that it can be a little bit of a burden at times.
Speaker: And when you are learning to interpret your dreams, especially at the beginning, it can often feel like i don't even know where to start. What is the direction? What what is do I prioritize when I'm trying to interpret this dream?
Speaker: So I'm going to go back to some basics. If any of you have been listening since the first season, you will have heard this, but it never hurts to go back to the basics. I'm going to give you some basic rules and then three things that I think you can hone in on if you are a saga dreamer and or someone who just has so many details you don't really know what to prioritize.
Speaker: Going back to the basics, there are a handful of questions that we want to ask ourself anytime we sit down with a dream. We write down the date when we had it because sometimes that really matters.
Speaker: We give it a title because this will oftentimes, in hindsight, help us hone in on the meaning of the dream. For instance, if you were dreaming about being at a carnival and there were clowns there and elephants and then ah red sports car drove through, you might name that dream something like the red sports car at the circus.
Speaker: Now, that might seem like, what a silly title, but it really does hone in on what's important and what stood out in that dream. And we often do that without even knowing it. Okay. So we want to give it a title. And then we want to highlight if the emotions in the dream were positive or negative, mostly to help establish tone and inside the context, then we will know how to better interpret the symbols that we see or the details.
Speaker: But what I want to highlight for those of you today who are the detailers, the Saga dreamers, this is going to feel a little bit hard to do, especially if you have a dream that has multiple scenes, but listen to me, it can be done.
Speaker: And I really encourage you to exercise this muscle because it is going to save hours of your life, truly. The next thing we want to do is we want to choose three to five tops.
Speaker: Three to five tops of the symbols or details that feel like they stood out in the dream. Now this might be three to five moments or ah person stood out and then this symbol stood out and then this color stood out. That's great. It doesn't really matter what those look like. Just you being able to identify the three to five main pieces that felt like they were important to you that stood out.
Speaker: This is going to become easier and easier as you get in touch with your own heart. It's also going to become easier and easier as you learn common symbolic language, because there are common symbols that come up often in dreams.
Speaker: These are things that we see from scripture. These are also things that we've learned from past dreamers and dream interpreters who have written books and then God builds on that revelation. So you can get books on common symbols. I actually have a free PDF that I will put in the show notes, a link to that, that is by no means exhaustive.
Speaker: And hear me on this. We always want to be seeking God, the Holy Spirit, specifically for the unique interpretation for the symbols, for sure. There is always an exception, always.
Speaker: However, there are also very common symbols that God uses pretty consistently to speak to us about the same thing. That could be cars or different vehicles. That could be your house or your grandparents' house.
Speaker: That can be certain types of people showing up in your dreams that can end up being common to mankind. Like, oh, when I'm seeing authorities in my dream, like policemen or firemen, it's usually speaking to the angelic realm. And that is a common symbol for many people.
Speaker: If you're seeing cars in your dream, It has to do with your ministry or your life. If it's not your car, it's not your life or your ministry. This is an example of what im I'm giving as common symbols. Because the more you know the common symbols, the more quickly you're going to be able to pick those up in dreams that are going to jump out at you.
Speaker: And you'll know that those are important and are going to immediately help give you context for the dream. Okay? But what I want you to do is write down the three to five most important symbols to you in the dream.
Speaker: If you're like, I just cannot choose five, there's six, then okay, by all means. But what I do not want you to do is be like, but I'm so detailed. i have to choose 14. No, you don't have to choose 14.
Speaker: The details matter. They absolutely do. But some details matter more than others. And this is about a honing in on what those things are. So I'm going to challenge you. Just find the three to five symbols that feel the most important. You might want to ask yourself, if I took all the other symbols out, but these ones remained, would it still feel like the dream was intact?
Speaker: then those are the right ones. I also like to ask, and I'm very kind of sensing oriented, so I will think to myself, where did I feel the most weight, W-E-I-G-H-T, weight in the dream?
Speaker: Now that might actually be like there was a ah weighty spot, or I might have just felt something highlighted or something emphasized. That is important to note and write down, and that can be a part of what you focus on. That's an indicator that God is highlighting.
Speaker: putting his hand on that particular part of the dream. The second thing I think that is important to do is to bring someone else into it. If you're having a really hard time and there are so many details, you don't even know where to start, then I would say bring in a friend and tell them the dream. Obviously someone that you trust, someone that can go the distance with you, that can go the distance of your very long dream but with all of your details.
Speaker: They will often have a better ability to kind of get a helicopter view of it and go, this stood out, this stood out, this stood out, this stood out. If you need that help, by all means do it. And then you're going to want to look through those simples symbols and ask the Holy Spirit to start showing you what they mean.
Speaker: And eventually, one of those is going to be revealed and it's going to crack the whole thing open and you're going to go, oh, the dream is about this. That's it.
Speaker: When you are looking at these symbols, and this will be kind of the third thing tied into, yeah, maybe a fourth thing. But when you're looking at these symbols, I want you to now that you have the three to five chosen, if you need to pull in a friend, do that.
Speaker: But now that you have them chosen, look for any patterns. That means you might see a symbol more than once. Or it might not be the same symbol, but it might have a similar meaning. That is repetition.
Speaker: That is a pattern. And that is always an indicator that God is emphasizing something. Let me give you an example. I was helping a friend interpret a dream the other day and her dream was taking place in a hotel. And then a little bit later in the dream, there they were in the hallway in the hotel.
Speaker: And the number on the hotel room door included an 11. So I immediately saw that there was a pattern. I saw it after two, but then with the third piece, I'm like, this is definitely an emphasis that God is wanting to show us.
Speaker: How How are those related, you say? Okay, they're not the exact same symbol, right? It's not like we saw the 11 three times in the dream. But I know, because I know common symbols, that that hotels will often represent a transition or a transitional time or a transitional season, an in-between time.
Speaker: Why? Because hotels, you don't live there. They're usually someplace that you're just staying temporarily, right? before you're moving on. Same with hallways. You don't hang out and live in hallways. You're usually moving through a hallway to get to another room, a different destination.
Speaker: Okay, so transition. And I know that 11s will oftentimes represent transition in the spirit. So there is a pattern, even though those symbols were different. Those were had the same meaning. So we already know in that dream that God is emphasizing there's a time of transition.
Speaker: Okay, see how that goes? Another example, I've used this before in past podcasts. Maybe you had a flat tire in your dream. And then in your second part of your dream that feels totally unrelated, you're at the beach and there's a deflated beach ball. Okay.
Speaker: Now, at first glance, you're probably going to think, okay, these are completely unrelated dreams. We were in different places. Nothing that seems the same. But to both of those symbols, air is coming out of something. there Something is deflated, right?
Speaker: So you want to recognize that as a symbol. as a repetition. When looking at a dream that has many scenes, you're going to be tempted to go through the symbols in each one of those scenes.
Speaker: I don't want you to do that. I know, i know it's going to be hard and it's going to seem crazy, but I want to just challenge you to try this, to try to do three to five symbols from the whole thing And incorporating the question, is there a pattern here?
Speaker: Because there is often a pattern between the different dreams. It might be between the very first part of the dream and the very last part of the dream. There might be a couple in the middle, but there is often at least one.
Speaker: That might even just be, of the same person was with you in all four different scenes. Okay, so look for pattern. And when I'm asking you to look for three to five symbols in the whole dream, I do mean the whole dream.
Speaker: Again, if you got to do six, great. But I just don't want you to choose 15 because that would be what you would try to do. And then you're going to get even more bogged down because really the Lord it wants to get to the heart of the dream.
Speaker: And it doesn't take 15 symbols. It just doesn't. What I have found is that there's three to five. And even when you you find one or two that are like click, then the whole thing starts to make sense. And all the other details kind of interpret themselves.
Speaker: And then you can go back and dig into all of those juicy millions of details that will only add to it and emphasize, but they're not the ones that are necessarily going to break it open, if that makes sense.
Speaker: So to close this off, I'm going to give you a ah reminder that symbols or details are pretty much always symbols, meaning they are symbolic. There is metaphor happening.
Speaker: Now hear me, absolutely we have dreams that are literal and then we don't know it until it's playing out in life and we're like, oh, Oh my gosh, I thought that dog was a metaphor, but it was actually a dog that I met in real life.
Speaker: Totally, totally. But especially when you have that many details in a dream, it is likely that they are mostly symbols. So they are not actually representing what they look like.
Speaker: And for those of you who are saga dreamers, who are very detail oriented, you can also tend to be very literal. Again, not a bad thing. We just have to shift over to our less analytical, into our more childlike, into our more um visual,
Speaker: storytelling parable type mind to get God's language because symbols are usually going to represent something other than what they are. And that in and of itself, just reminding yourself to look at your dreams symbolically is going to help get you out of the muck and the mire.
Speaker: Now, if you have tried these steps and you are still on the muck the mire and you just can't make any sense of it, put that dream aside. Just do it. Just put it aside until the Holy Spirit brings it back up.
Speaker: Because he's more than able to give you the interpretation. He knows how to speak to you. The amount of times that I've set aside a dream and then later that day or a couple days later, something will happen just as I'm going about life that will trigger that dream or will give me interpretation for one of those details in my dream and I'll go, oh my gosh, that's it.
Speaker: There's no way I would have gotten that if I tried to interpret it on my own. I had to wait. I had to wait for God to reveal it as I went about my life. That is very common. And we do not interpret our dreams through stressing, through striving, through analyzing.
Speaker: It just doesn't happen that way. Because revelation comes from the Lord, comes from the spirit of revelation that scripture says is the Holy Spirit. That's one of his names is the spirit of revelation. He reveals revelation.
Speaker: So this should be something where we are lighthearted, where we are taking it to God, knowing that he is going to reveal, he is going to help us decide which three to five or six, if you need symbols, stand out.
Speaker: And he will give you the interpretation for those symbols. We like to be knowledgeable about common symbols. We like to pay attention to patterns that God puts in our dreams, but ultimately,
Speaker: The Holy Spirit is going to be the one that reveals it. So do not stress. Do not try to get blood from a stone. If it's not coming, put that thing aside until an appointed time. And the Lord will, without question, bring it back at the perfect time.
Speaker: Okay, I hope that helps. Please let me know how you are doing with this, especially you saga dreamers. I have seen this shift for people. I've absolutely seen it shift and I have interpreted many of these kinds of dreams where I am tempted to get bogged down in the mire of all the details, but I just keep that big bird's eye view and I just listen and wait to feel where I feel the most weight, the ones that I feel the most highlighted, if there's any patterns, and then I start there.
Speaker: Okay, I wish you guys all of the best. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you. Please reach out to me. Let me know if you have more questions. Let me know how your process goes. My email is in the show notes as well as that PDF that I promised.
