Disclaimer, all views expressed on this podcast represent the host and his guest and not the companies or agencies they are associated with. Welcome to Tony's Game Lounge, a biweekly podcast that covers everything in the world of video games, TCG, tabletop and more. Here's your host, Tony Fourteen.
00:00:22
Speaker
Hello everybody, and welcome back to another brand new episode of Tony's Game Lounge. I'm your host as always, Tony14. And joining me this week is the head of the Church of Ilf Vtuber Twitch streamer, Kerris Knight. Stop. Damn, I didn't think I was gonna get boasted on.
00:00:44
Speaker
How are you today, Carrots? Welcome to the podcast. I'm doing pretty good. I can just sit here in my cozy little area, drink a cup of tea. I'm doing great. Hell yeah. We love a cozy little cup of tea. I haven't had tea forever. It's been a hot minute since I've had a cup of tea. Now that you've brought that up.
00:01:03
Speaker
See, I love tea and my problem is I will make a cup in the morning and then I will make a cup after stream and then I will make a cup in the evening and then I'll make another cup and my poor little heart can't handle all the caffeine. So I'm like, I need to cut back as I drink five more cups of tea. You don't need that. Well, I mean, part of tea is water if you think about it.
00:01:26
Speaker
Yeah, but like my pots tells me otherwise. Fair enough. That is fair enough.

Guest Introduction and Gaming Preferences

00:01:34
Speaker
Well, since you're brand new here in the Game Lounge on the podcast, we get to start with two very fun games to get to know you a bit. So our first is the loading screen where you get to give us your favorite video game, video game character and video game soundtrack.
00:01:49
Speaker
So whenever you're ready, take it away. Oh, that is a tough one. So favorite video game of all time would have to be Castlevania Symphony of the Night for the PlayStation. I grew up around the PlayStation, the PlayStation 2, the 64, and I could honestly play Castlevania backwards and forwards. Like there's always new things to discover in that you're always trying to get like 200%, but you can't.
00:02:17
Speaker
favorite character of all time would probably have to be Alundra from Alundra, also a PlayStation game. Just the fact that you are a dreamwalker going into other people's dreams are really cool. And as much as that soundtrack freaks me out, I love the Alundra soundtrack. It sounds so, so good. Like I could sleep to it to the point that it's like, oh man, I hear one tune and I'm just out.
00:02:47
Speaker
That's fair. That's good choices there. Symphony of the Night is a great game that I still need to play. Honestly, like it is one of those that being a Metroidvania style game, like you pick up like if you're going to pick it up, I highly recommend
00:03:09
Speaker
doing a couple different runs where you do the right side up castle, then the right side up upside down castle and then upside down castle. Cause it's always going to get progressively harder. No, absolutely. And our second intro game that we have here is hot takes where you get to give your hottest video game take that you have.
00:03:35
Speaker
Ooh, I feel like personally the PlayStation is very, it doesn't get enough love as it should. Because I feel like once you get a PS2 with its backward compatibility, you don't need the PlayStation more. Once you get a PlayStation 3, you don't need the PlayStation 2 anymore. Once you get the PlayStation 4, like it just upgrades from there.
00:03:58
Speaker
It does. But I feel like it's going to reach the point that when you get the next upgraded PS, whatever, that there's going to be no backwards compatibility. And whatever PlayStation game you put in it, it's just going to look like garbage and sound like garbage.
00:04:20
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, as you bring that up, it's like kind of starting to slowly happen as PlayStation five. I mean, like PlayStation five's backwards compatibility is essentially subscribe to PlayStation Plus to get access to the retro collection. And there there was one game that a very good friend of mine gave me their PlayStation three to try. And it was a
00:04:47
Speaker
It was somewhat of an inspiration behind my VTuber model. It is a Japanese exclusive game that they finally brought out to the PlayStation store called Vib Ribbon. And it is a rhythm game where you air a
00:05:06
Speaker
like almost chalk outline of a rabbit dancing across a like line. And you can put your own music in like you would do with Dance Dance Revolution and stuff like that. And you only have like four buttons you play with and things get wild. I highly recommend checking out some of the YouTube videos of different songs.
00:05:28
Speaker
Because there's something so funny about a rabbit trying to dance through the fire and the flames. And then the rabbit just go nuts. I'm like, I feel that on a personal level.
00:05:39
Speaker
Yeah, I've seen Vib Ribbon on some TikToks originally. That's where I first, that's where I knew of this game. Like, oh, this sounds familiar to that. Yeah. So I saw it on TikToks and yeah, it's like only four buttons. It's a very interesting looking game. I didn't know that you could upload your own songs to it. Yeah.
00:05:59
Speaker
I actually had a Vib ribbon cosplay where I painted over the shoes. I got little slip on shoes that I painted all the symbols on. I took three days to make my own set of ears, which I still have, but they're kind of painted for a different cosplay. And I walked around in a dress and I had one person figure out where I was and I'm like, yes, one is enough.
00:06:26
Speaker
More than that is a plus, but one person noticed me! Let's go. Let's go. Just having that one person know where your thing is from, it's always the best.
00:06:38
Speaker
Mm hmm. Because it's hard to take like a flat creature and make it 3D and you're like, how do I do this? How do I do this without like, those like, I don't know if you've seen those Halloween, those like custom Halloween costumes that are like glow in the dark stick figures, where it's like a black suit and then it's like, like essentially glow stick-esque things to make them look like stick figures and then like in the darkness, they're just the stick figure that you see.
00:07:06
Speaker
That's great at like nighttime, but not at a convention. Yeah. Where you're walking around with a bunch of other people and you still go to elbow and you're like, notice me, please. I mean, it can probably done. Maybe you just got to inverse the colors, the white background, white. It's like a full sheets or like white spandex, whole suit and then the black blackers, just black sticks.
00:07:34
Speaker
All over you to make it work. I'm surviving got three monsters and a

Console News and Discussions

00:07:39
Speaker
pack of Oreos. I got this exactly Well with that it's time for us to now look into our headline of the week Which is a pretty big deal considering it came from the horse's mouth itself Nintendo has officially said That the new system the next to Nintendo console will be revealed within this fiscal year
00:08:04
Speaker
Which means that they have until March 2025 to make this announcement. So sometime between now and then, Nintendo will announce the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Now in doing so, they also did confirm that there is going to be a Nintendo Direct in June, which we all kind of know knew was going to happen anyway, because Summer Games Fest, that's usually when Nintendo will put out a big direct anyways. But it's always nice to know that it's like, OK, the next one is going to be in June.
00:08:34
Speaker
Always great to know that. We don't know the exact date of when it's gonna be, but we know it's gonna be soon. Now, reports suggest that this new console, which again, it's reports, speculation, but it's gonna feature detachable Joy-Con controllers like the Switch, but this time with a magnetic attachment system as well as more buttons and a dock similar to the original Switches.
00:08:58
Speaker
So the reports are saying that it's going to be another hybrid console, but different from the Switch, or it might just be a new Switch mod. It will be the Switch 2, or whatever it's going to be. A Switch 2 is like a Switch play. Exactly. And there's a very strong and good chance that this will have backwards compatibility to the original Switch game catalog as well.
00:09:24
Speaker
What are your thoughts on all this, Kerris? What are you hoping to see from the new Nintendo system? Now, I am curious about that because I know a few people in my life that have autistic children. And when it comes to them and explosive outbursts of not understanding things, they will they will throw things. So I wonder if it will be more durable than the regular switch, because I've seen
00:09:53
Speaker
so many switch joy cons and controllers and docs themselves just get Destroyed and it's like man if you're gonna build something You got to make it so that if I'm gonna rage quit and throw it against the wall. It's got to survive
00:10:10
Speaker
Yeah, I guess that's one thing that like we never really it's never really discussed in like a main thing of like a Durability of a console itself because nine time like controllers sure durability of a controller definitely is talked about because we've seen what people have done to Some controllers in the past through very famous twitch streams twitch clips and the like But I
00:10:38
Speaker
I've thankfully never Destroyed a controller I've got imagine thrown one once or twice but against the couch because I'm like I don't want to dip my parents walls because they scare me but Humans are scary, but
00:10:58
Speaker
A console's durability itself is actually a very strong point to bring up, and hopefully it will be a more durable system as well. Because that would be a good thing for, as you said, kids who are on the spectrum that can throw things because of a lack of understanding and other things.
00:11:23
Speaker
Cause even with, even with when the, uh, Nintendo switch fairs came out, like, I think it was like the first year. There were so many issues with joy con drifting. Yeah. And there was a lot of people that were like, Oh, it's not a problem. No, it is. It's absolutely is. I have six joy cons. Four of them do have drift. Now it's too, like they're not, it's not like super bad, but you can tell that there is a drift.
00:11:51
Speaker
Yeah, because at that point, you're better off just getting the Nintendo Switch controller. But then when you're on the go, like it's easier to hold your Switch with the Joy-Cons attached in front of you, compared to having it connected to the TV where you have the controller in your hand.
00:12:14
Speaker
Yeah, it absolutely is. That's the whole reason I actually got a Pro Controller. It's because nine times out of ten when I am playing my Switch, it is on the TV docked. I only rarely bring it out of the dock.
00:12:32
Speaker
I mean, I would say it's like a 60 40 split nowadays because there are some nights at my job where it's like, I know it's going to be a slow night, slow day. So I'll bring my switch with me to kill some time at work while I do. Well, I push buttons on the radio because the other the other like.
00:12:54
Speaker
travel size of it is you have you have your you have your case for your switch that a lot of them already has like a little pocket for all your extra cords and controls and nonsense but when you're trying to travel with either a controller
00:13:11
Speaker
or the dock controller that usually you can pick up, which is separate. It's so bulky that where you're going to put it, you're going to have to get a much bigger case to carry everything that you need. Exactly. No, it absolutely is the case. So it'll be interesting to see what Nintendo brings to the table with the new console. Again, we won't have any details until they're like, hey,
00:13:35
Speaker
The direct for it's coming out soon. I'm predicting that it's going to be this fall that we see the reveal business meeting or whatever it is, because that's when we saw it last time was in the fall. So that's my prediction at least. And if we don't see it then, then who knows when we'll see it's probably the new year.
00:13:57
Speaker
I hope that they do like the Steam Deck does, and you can connect it to your Steam, where you can play some Steam games. Because there is some really good Steam games that I feel would be really good on the Switch, but also have access to your save files. Because I don't want to buy Stardew Valley for my Switch and then start over, OK? Yeah, no, absolutely. I don't want to do that from Stardew Valley.
00:14:23
Speaker
Absolutely. Having a data transfer system between these switches would be nice as well. Instead of just, oh yeah, you can transfer your file or your profile, but you can't do anything else aside from like, here's your profile. You get access to all your games, but your save files are here. So having access to the save files would be a nice bonus to that as well.
00:14:52
Speaker
And I also hope that they come up with more Switch games instead of just making... Now, there's nothing wrong with them taking, like, remastering some games to the Switch, like, making it look better or making it feel better when you play. But I feel like they need to come up with a little bit more... They need to come up with more for the Switch, honestly.
00:15:16
Speaker
And we do have that June direct, so hopefully that will reveal some cool new things for the switch. So hopefully during that we can see that, but again only time will tell with what Nintendo chooses to do.
00:15:32
Speaker
Also, please Nintendo, for the love of God, you need to lower your prices because if a game has been on the market for like more than a couple years, I'm not spending 60 bucks, okay? It's... no.
00:15:50
Speaker
Yeah, the tendos- Make it cheaper, please. The tendos, I think you should all- Yeah, like when you're getting- You do what other game devs do and lower the price once it's been a couple years, please. Mario Party's still $60! Is it? Jesus. Yes!
00:16:06
Speaker
my god like please i just i want to get me topia but again i'm not spending 60 bucks for a game i'm probably gonna stream and then give up okay make it worth my money
00:16:22
Speaker
Yeah. Well, there's a lot more that happened in this past week, aside from Nintendo's big announcement. And we're going to get to all of that right now with The Week in Review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's The Week in Review.
00:16:42
Speaker
And to kick it off, of course, some of these past two weeks, major game releases we had were Prison Architect 2, Animal Well, which was produced by Video Game Donkey, V Rising, which had its full release out of early access,
00:16:58
Speaker
Little Kitty, Big City, Homeworld 3, and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, which was one of the games showcased in the Nintendo Indie World Direct that most recently happened.

Video Game Casting and Industry News

00:17:10
Speaker
With, of course, the surprise in there being Animal Well, being a full Metroidvidia-esque game and Discovery-esque game.
00:17:20
Speaker
uh that's been doing surprisingly well kind of came under the radar a bit for those who weren't following this game for a while i don't think i've heard of that one it's it's surprisingly it's been doing it's been getting a lot of great reviews and it kind of just it didn't shadow drop like another game that shadow dropped as well this actually past week that i should bring up right now hades 2 shadow dropped
00:17:47
Speaker
and it's in early access right now and everyone's uh everybody is uh horny for gods so what's funny about that is um i
00:18:01
Speaker
I love Hades. I really do. Great game. Like, just if you ever get a chance to see me throw myself what all the gods and goddesses you know. But my boyfriend had bought in Hades too. And I'm like, oh, yeah, just, you know, blah, blah, blah. I'll play it eventually. I'm afraid if I pick that up, I won't put that down.
00:18:24
Speaker
I'm like, no, you gotta focus. You got, you got all the games you picked out. You gotta play these, you gotta stay focused. And I'm like, but like, but like, come on. But like, sexy gods.
00:18:36
Speaker
But like horny, but like after dating, but like, God damn it. Exactly. I hate myself, but like I'm holding off. I'm pretty good about it. I'm holding on. You see, I'm also I'm also holding off. I'm purchasing it only because I am still playing through Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and I want to finish that before I pick up any other new games. And as much as I love to pick up Hades 2 and play through it,
00:19:05
Speaker
I I'm like, no, I got to wait. I got to. I want to finish everything. I feel like if it's still an early access, it is. Yes, it is still a lot of bugs. So I would wait until like it's completely done because I've seen someone that was playing it recently that was just running around where their character was literally running across the entire like area.
00:19:28
Speaker
and nothing in that area was moving. Like no lights were flickering, no nothing. And it's like, hmm.
00:19:37
Speaker
That's a little broken a little bit. Yeah. So, of course, it is an early access still. So there will be some issues. They are constantly updating it, but we don't actually know when the full release will be out. But it also just does. It also does mean that if you do start to play it now, more content will be added to this game in the future. We don't know what the form of that content will be or tweaks, but you can kiss a frog. You can kiss a frog.
00:20:03
Speaker
You can kiss a frog before you leave. Before you even think about leaving the area, you have to give this chunky little frog a forehead smooch. Chunky? Hell yeah. Is that chunky frog? I'm like, yes, I'm sold on this game. Oh, all the sexy like remaster gods, goddesses, layouts, main protagonists. No, do it for the frog. I think if you kiss the frog enough, he'll turn into a prince.
00:20:29
Speaker
I hope so. Or princess. Or princess. Well, whatever you need, whatever you need. I'm just going off of the story of the princess and the frog, which to be fair, when you think of kissing a frog, you think of it turning into a dashing young man.
00:21:02
Speaker
If a world of video game news kicking it off dead by daylight They're getting a brand new D&D DLC adding Vecna as the brand new killer and two elven bards as survivors It officially releases on June 3rd, but you can try it right now in the test realms
00:21:21
Speaker
Do you play any Dead by Daylight at all? Sadly, I can't do to flash me lights and motion sickness. I've seen a couple people play it. But now. The people that I've seen it play like it seems to be one of those hate to say it, a toxic community. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's my daylight. Bring the right thing. People are like, oh, it's like.
00:21:50
Speaker
Cool. I don't want to do this anymore. Yeah, that really is, uh, it is very toxic. I've played it once with a group of friends and that's it because we just had a fun messing around with it. There was no meta builds or whatever. It was just a good time of screaming, running and quick time events.
00:22:14
Speaker
Why can't we just play games where we just, you know, scream at our friends, test friendships and be like, I'm not going to talk to you anymore. Then five minutes later, be like, hey, you want a snack? I'm sorry. It wasn't me when I was hungry. I had a Snickers. I'm normal now. Yeah. I went to KFC. It's OK. We could be friends again.
00:22:37
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. In multi-versus news, the Joker is coming to multi-versus when it relaunches with Mark Hamill voicing him. And also the Powerpuff Girls are going to be a character as well, as they slightly teased them in the trailer for the Joker as well. Weird choice to put like the Powerpuff Girls and the Joker together.
00:23:00
Speaker
A little bit, but you know, multiverses is a little weird with everything that they've been doing. So, I mean, you can now see Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup beat up Bugs Bunny and Superman. I can't pick you, that just doesn't make any sense. Yeah, it doesn't have to make sense. That's the glory of fiction, is it doesn't have to make sense.
00:23:27
Speaker
Oh, I love. I'm going to be honest, you can't go wrong with them. They really make not get it out of here. The old one, even better. Hey, an update to the biggest story that we covered in the previous episode of the podcast that legit two days after we recorded it. And I think it was before it came out. This happened. Sony and PlayStation and Helldivers, too. Well,
00:23:54
Speaker
Sony pulled the plug and they said, hey guys, we've heard your feedback and all those negative reviews that you've been leaving on Helldivers 2. We give up. We're not going to force you guys to require a PlayStation Network account to play Helldivers 2 anymore.
00:24:09
Speaker
Now, the game is still currently banned in a few countries that don't have PSN accounts and they're working on unbending the game there. So until that actually happens, please leave your negative reviews on the game so that way they can get doing that faster.
00:24:29
Speaker
You know, we did that with the Sonic movie. We did. We're going to do it without fibers. We did, yeah. Speaking of the Sonic movie, what do you think of Keanu Reeves being the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog?
00:24:46
Speaker
I saw the first Sonic movie, which I really like. I do like that they picked a really good choice for Shadow the Hedgehog. I like Shadow the Hedgehog, mostly for his color design, because it reminds me of Venom from Spider-Man. And I feel like they're going to do a good job. Now, for anybody who doesn't know the Shadow franchise, if you haven't played the game,
00:25:11
Speaker
There's a child that gets taken down within like the first five minutes, like if you're going to Atlanta in the movie. I mean, they are. I mean, the Biebs have already said it's like. Exactly. It's the Biebs, me sitting in the watching Oppenheimer very calmly, me going absolutely batshit crazy, seeing a child get worked in the first five minutes of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
00:25:37
Speaker
Is is a canon of edge shadow is like the back story like oh befriended, you know this I don't know professor daughter or whatever. I don't know. I I attempted to play shadow the hedgehog Once oh like the standalone game of shadow the hedgehog with guns and and it the first stage Uh, you know you decide if you want to be good. You were no neutral, you know, depending on the route you take them blah blah blah the game I got from a
00:26:07
Speaker
family video back when they had PlayStation 2 games. The game was so scratched, it glitched out and I could not physically get past level one. It kept going to a black screen and I'm like, I've stayed up all night trying to do this. I'm pulling in all night to play this game and I can't even play, I don't even wanna switch this, I'm going to bed.
00:26:34
Speaker
Oof, that's rough. I think Shadow the Hedgehog is like one of the only few Sonic games that I've never actually like gotten the true ending for. Only because, you know, there's 14 endings to the game and that you got to get first. And it takes a bit of time. I don't have patience for that.
00:26:59
Speaker
I just don't have the time for it, man. I just don't have the time for it. You're a gamer. Who has time? A gamer with a job. You see, if I didn't have a job, I'd have all the time in the world.
00:27:16
Speaker
Listen, I don't have a job and I can assure you like my streaming is I'm doing my best as until I get one and I can assure you I'm like too many goddamn games. And they still not enough time to play it. Too many games, not enough time. Too many games.
00:27:37
Speaker
In Square Enix news, Square Enix has seen... So, in a recent interview, they're like, hey, Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Foam Stars, they didn't meet our expectations for sales. Now, granted, Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth were two very high-selling games.
00:27:57
Speaker
Square Enix just has too high of a standard, apparently. Because, let's be real, Foam Stars wasn't going to do well regardless, and it didn't do that well. So the Foam Stars make sense for that statement. 16 and 7 Rebirth have done fantastic, despite being console exclusives, which is also probably why they're like, it's too high of a standard because they're only console exclusives. You need to put them on other things if you want to see that higher number.
00:28:24
Speaker
So, they've said that they're now going to, quote, aggressively pursue a multi-platform strategy for its biggest games across Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation, and Windows PC, and they're gonna, like, focus no longer on exclusivity. Which would be a great move for Square Enix! Because I think a lot of people would like to see Square Enix stop having PlayStation exclusivity.
00:28:51
Speaker
Listen, we are, there's PC master race and then there's like console peasants. Okay. I'm a mix of two, but I can assure you, uh, the council's, I don't have the funds to get a new console every goddamn year. Yeah. Yeah. I converted back to being PC master.
00:29:12
Speaker
Yeah, so, and we do know that Final Fantasy 16 is getting a PC port soon. We don't know when, but YoshiP has said that it's going, the process for it is going smoother than they expected it to. So, sometime soon, we will be getting 16 on PC Rebirth, who knows when. Yeah, I've been trying to play through all of the Final Fantasy games and
00:29:40
Speaker
I am sadly hooked on Final Fantasy Online, and I feel like once you buy the subscription for that, you can't put it down. Once you upgrade your free trial for the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. Up to level 70. Up to level 70. The first two expansions with unlimited no restriction on playtime.
00:30:07
Speaker
yeah it's great it is great it's great i have 1700 hours in the game i don't know how many i've had but i've gone to the website and i haven't played it for like two or three months because like listen i don't have i mean i don't like throw away like that that's fair that is fair it's like damn do i buy a pizza today or do i
00:30:29
Speaker
Play Final Fantasy and run around as the opera. Do I spend my entire time at the Golden Saucer and do the leap of faith? Yeah, but that pizza, though. Yeah, exactly. Do I want pizza or do I want a month of Final Fantasy online? Decisions. Decisions.
00:30:48

In Critical Role news, Critical Role announced two things recently.

Memberships and Studio Closures

00:30:52
Speaker
First, The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 will be releasing this fall, but we don't have a specific date quite yet. And also, Critical Role is launching Beacon, a new membership program that promises to be the most direct way to support Critical Role. It's going to offer a wide range of exclusive and early access programming,
00:31:11
Speaker
Among its member perks and crucially let Critical Role bypass third-party video services like YouTube and Twitch, where most of its content is streamed and hosted, but just because they're gonna have this doesn't mean they're gonna stop posting content on YouTube and Twitch. They're still gonna do that there. I think Beacon is just their way to get- it's like their, hey, if you pay for this, you get it like a week or something early.
00:31:35
Speaker
Which we've seen what happened to Rooster Teeth with this thing, but also Rooster Teeth was bought out by a major conglomerate and then shut down by said major conglomerate, which is why their whole thing happened. But we saw how people reacted to Watcher trying to do this. So I don't know what the public reaction was to this.
00:32:00
Speaker
Uh, but yeah, I think it's because it's critical role that they're like, Oh yeah, sure. Cause the critical role, throw your money at that. Yeah. Cause the critical role community kind of does that a lot. I find like an animated series about that. I'm like, yeah, that's, uh, that's the legends of Vox Machina.
00:32:22
Speaker
I've seen bits and pieces of it. I'm like, yeah, I should watch this. And then I tried watching a little bit of like, fantasy high. I'm like, yeah, I should listen to this. And then you put it down, you're like, where did you go?
00:32:37
Speaker
Exactly. It's like trying to make a soup and you put your spatula in the soup and the soup's gone and you're like, all right, well, I don't want the soup there. Exactly. In makeup news, which is weird to say, ColourPop Cosmetics have released its latest crossover collaboration with Pokemon.
00:32:57
Speaker
So you could now sell a whole Pokemon line of cosmetics. So all the lipsticks, blushes, palettes that they have are based off of Pokemon. Now, those look cute, though. I've seen a couple people on TikTok that have been like showing them off and I'm like, yeah, they're nowhere near the stores that I met. Thanks. I'm.
00:33:20
Speaker
I don't wear makeup. I'm a basic white man. I've never had to wear makeup before. I've done some theater stuff, but I never had to wear makeup for that. I know there's some people who do, but I've never had to. I can't really give an opinion on this because I don't wear it. It's just like, it's a thing.
00:33:46
Speaker
I only ever do it for cosplays and I haven't done a cosplay in a long time. And even then a lot of people don't realize makeup expires. It has an expiration date on it. If you don't use it within like a year or 24 months or 36 months, you got to trash it. So I mean, that's a, that's a, that's a pretty long expiry date though. At least like it's a long expiry date. Like I didn't know like it had one, but I'm glad to know at least it's not like.
00:34:12
Speaker
Oh, yeah, no, it's like six months for this like stick. It's like a month for the stick of lipstick. Yeah. You got to use it while you can. Don't be like me and put lipstick on your face thinking it would make great eyeshadow. It is a pain in the ass to get off. And I've spent like 30 minutes in the shower before scrubbing my face. Yeah, I did it for a Okami cosplay. Oh, yeah. I could do this. I just put, you know, makeup on my lipstick on my face because I didn't have anything else. And I'm like,
00:34:39
Speaker
This is impossible to get off. And a few other stories really quickly. Sega announced Sonic Rumble, a brand new mobile fall guy style party game. They'll be hosting a closed beta from May 24th through 26th. You can sign up on the official website for said beta. It looks all right. A lot of the Sonic content creators are like that trailer is a bit rough there with the frame rate and all of that.
00:35:08
Speaker
Um, so we'll wait and see what happens with that. Uh, and in bigger news, probably the biggest news this week, Microsoft's closed three Bethesda studios, Arkane Austin, who gave us Redfall, which to be fair, you kind of saw that one coming because Redfall, not good. Alpha Dogs Studios, who gave us Mighty Doom, and the one that shocked everybody, Tango Gameworks, who gave us Hi-Fi Rush and the Evil Within series.
00:35:38
Speaker
They're shut down. Can you still play evil with them, though? Yes, you can. All those games are still available on the store, but it is absolutely shocking that they fucking shut them down. Also, they shut down roundhouse games, but they're merging roundhouse games with Zenimax online to work on Elder Scrolls online. But yeah, Microsoft did that and the Internet was rightfully pissed off at them.
00:36:06
Speaker
Because guess what? Hi-Fi Rush got Microsoft a lot of fucking money, but apparently not enough money. So, yeah, they released one final patch for Hi-Fi Rush before officially shutting down. And yeah, it sucks. So listen, CEO got to eat. Yeah. Uh-huh. The CEOs got to eat. You know what? The CEO can eat these nuts.
00:36:37
Speaker
Respectfully, respectfully. They at least have to buy you dinner first. That is the rule. No, I'm going to shove, I'm going to figure out what nut allergy they have and shove it right in their mouth. Peanuts, walnuts. Then we'll find a way. They could take me out to dinner and I'll actually shove these nuts in their mouth and see how they like it.
00:37:01
Speaker
Listen, they take you to the finest McDonald's and you're like, man, I don't even want McDonald's. I can't even eat McDonald's. OK, I'm going to say this hot take here on McDonald's. It tastes like it tastes like cardboard.
00:37:14
Speaker
I have a gluten allergy, so I have to be careful, right? And I can assure you, when you... And I discovered this gluten allergy about, I want to say, two or three years ago, where I actually had to see a doctor about it. And they're like, yeah, this is probably what's causing a lot of your health issues. And I'm like, wish I knew that from childbirth.
00:37:40
Speaker
Yeah. Wow. So listen, when you can't see in Pizza Hut and McDonald's and then you have to look at it, you're like, OK, the only thing I can eat off your menu is ice cream. And I don't even want ice cream. The machine's always broken. Exactly. If I want it's like, man, I would love to eat at your establishment. Can I get an EpiPen on the side? Yeah. Please, I don't want to die. Like I miss your food. Uh-huh. Exactly.
00:38:10
Speaker
Hey, it's some modding news. Modding and warfare. So there's a brand new mod that came out for Hearts of Iron IV that basically gives a 1% chance of Five Nights at Freddy's, very own Freddy Fazbear coming out of nowhere and jumpscaring you. What? Why?
00:38:33
Speaker
I don't know. It's just it's just a thing now. And it's like, OK, I believe it's called like Hearts of Five Nights at Hearts of Freddy's Four or Five Nights of Iron Four or whatever the mod is called. I feel like that's like those jump scares are so overly used. Oh, they are. They absolutely are. You have people that are making like fan games based off the franchise that are like, oh, yeah, jump scare. And it's like.
00:39:02
Speaker
do something else anything else please like give me actual horror where I feel creeped out the entire time and if I see something I don't want to move forward because I'm frozen in fear yeah make it so that there's no monster in the entire game but there's the presence of a monster or something oh sort of like that terrifying like that new pools game that came out I think it's a free game to play
00:39:26
Speaker
Uh, it's not free. Okay. It's relatively cheap. Yeah. But it's like, I want to say it's like a three or four hour game. Yeah. And a friend of mine bought it for me and I'm like, can you join me in that? I'm scared. I'm scared of little spaces. Listen, I played SCP. I usually bring SCP.
00:39:46
Speaker
Containment breach I bring all my friends into that like that. That's easy. I know I know those folks in the Scaries in the raw in that but like pools. No, I need a buddy. I need a fucking whole crew. I'm like If I'm drowning we're all trying to together we need Yes
00:40:08
Speaker
In a leak news, there's some new evidence suggesting that Red Dead Redemption 2's PC port is imminent.

Game Ports and Character Design Critiques

00:40:17
Speaker
Fame's GTA data miner Tez2 posted new code from the Rockstar launcher site a few days ago, and it doesn't leave much room for interpretation.
00:40:26
Speaker
Among the code is the following quote, journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption and its zombie horror companion Undead Nightmare, now playable on PC. Also, I said Red Dead Redemption 2, I meant the first Red Dead Redemption. Okay, because it's like, listen, I have Red Dead 2 and I don't know. Yeah. It's a great game, but I feel like I need to start over because I don't know what I'm doing.
00:40:52
Speaker
Yeah, thankfully Red Dead 2 and Red Dead 1 are two separate entities that you can play either of either of them in any order. Uh, but they're such long games that like, the second you get sidetracked for hours, it's like, what was I supposed to do again? Oh, right. Get Dutch money for his big plan. Dutch is like, hey, go get money. Like, I'm too busy trying to feed this camp, sir. You get off your ass and go try to feed the camp and catch some fish there, Dutch.
00:41:23
Speaker
Because I have picked it up because someone had recommended it for me, and they bought me the game. And I'm like, oh, this is really cool, blah, blah, blah. And so I'm playing it.
00:41:31
Speaker
I have my campsite and I'm too busy hunting deer and skinning squirrels to be like, what do I do with this game? Yeah, I feel that. That game is too big for me to even try to touch, honestly. It's like a GTA. You pick a direction and you just go and then you get sidetracked and then you go and you get the sidetracked and then you go and you're like, oh, squirrel.
00:41:54
Speaker
I feel like GTA is a bit better, though, because it's like, yeah, I could do all this side stuff, but like the story is like much I feel like the story is like just much more easier to digest than Red Dead's is at times. Oh, the ambiance music they have. And if you if you have yourself a really good set of headphones, like you can completely immerse yourself in the game.
00:42:19
Speaker
So I will say I have shot several people on the side of the road because they have shot me first. OK. Me, I'm going to take you down or I don't point a gun out. Hey, they used to get it, man. They shot me first. Here's the bullet hole. Yeah. Yeah. Like I just ate a can of beans and now I'm healed. I don't know how that would be.
00:42:40
Speaker
It's like Popeye with spinach. You just eat beans. You're like, I'm full of ham. Exactly. In big Ubisoft news, Assassin's Creed Shadows was given its first full release trailer. It's going to take place in feudal era Japan, giving you two protagonists to play as, sort of like Assassin's Creed Syndicate. And the game releases November 15th. Assassin's Creed is hard. Ah.
00:43:11
Speaker
Depends on the game, I find. Now, what was it? The first Assassin's Creed game. Yes, I absolutely agree that that game is hard, but it's also limited. They also had it so limited on what you could and couldn't do in that game. Now, Black Waters is really good. Oh, Black Flag. Yeah, Black Flag. Yeah, Black Flag. Something like that. Something. Black Ocean. Yeah, Black Ocean. Yeah.
00:43:39
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. The new sea of these before. Black Ocean Online, the new counterpart to Black Desert online. Oh, I love I love sailing the sea and like the ship. I've seen a couple of people play it and like the sea shanties is what got me for it. I can't play it myself because I'm like, yeah, but like I watch someone play that. Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely. Um.
00:44:09
Speaker
Also in Ubisoft news, three years after announcing it as an all new perspective on the division series, Ubisoft has quietly pulled the plug on the division heartland, saying it's decided to focus its efforts on other games instead, which as a guy who didn't really play the division, cool, I really don't care that a division game got canceled. They weren't that great of games anyway, from what I understood, they lacked a lot of potential.
00:44:39
Speaker
In games coming to services very soon, Nintendo Switch Online is bringing Super Mario Land to the service, along with Alleyway and Nintendo Baseball. This is to the regular Game Boy catalog. And PlayStation Plus is getting Red Dead Redemption 2 back to the service, along with Cat Quest 1 and 2.
00:44:59
Speaker
And a game that I will say, if you ever want to play this game, it better be fucking free. And it is going to be free. Crime Boss Rock A City, the worst game I played last year.
00:45:13
Speaker
Do not play Crime Boss Rock-A-City. The game is awful. But it stars like Michael Rooker and Chuck Norris and Vanilla Ice. Oh, no. No, no. Don't play this game called Shazam or something. No, Shaq. There's a game called Shaq that actually had Shaq in it. Shaq-Fu. Shaq-Fu. And then Shaq-Fu, too, wasn't as great either. But Shaq-Fu, too, gave us Obama and Kanye West.
00:45:45
Speaker
Uh, but yeah, uh, if you want to play crime boss, rock a city, uh, that was your chance to, cause it'll be free. You're not going to enjoy it. You're going to hate yourself, but you get mine as well. If you wish you need something to do, that's absolutely brain dead and you don't like yourself. Go play crime boss, Rocky. Damn. How bored are you? They're like, there's nothing to play. There's nothing to do. I just want to like.
00:46:09
Speaker
I just want to play a payday ripoff that's not as good. And it has Michael Rooker, the guy who played Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Vanilla Ice, the famous rapper, and Danny Trejo, the famous machete guy. That just sounds awful. You're not selling the game right now.
00:46:32
Speaker
I don't know if you saw the original trailer for this game at the game awards when it for two years ago now when it was first showing off but it was a it was like a a fucking what like one loose one like fucking wacky trailer and they promoted it's like oh yeah vanilla ice and Chuck Norris are both here as well it's like what
00:47:00
Speaker
Huh? But listen, if you're going to listen, just no, just no. Yep. Just to know. And lastly, in the world of video game news filming for season two of The Last of Us has begun in Vancouver and the first images from the show were released.
00:47:21
Speaker
i have seen so many people go crazy for the last of us two because of what they did and how they did it and people were screaming at one of the characters because it was a character that was like too buff to be a girl and i'm like fuck you i mean look if you didn't like the character because of an action they pulled at the beginning of the game
00:47:45
Speaker
I understand that if it's for any other reason it's like okay well now you're it's getting like it's not like an actual valid criticism on how the characters are written then sure but like if you're just going on design or shit or other shit like that it's like no but no come on like they make make your things valid like how the characters written thought I can absolute that's an absolute valid criticism
00:48:10
Speaker
what the character did for her actions. Valid, very valid criticism of why it's like the the person playing the character. No, don't shit on them because I've seen. Oh, yeah. Like, because it's Laura Bailey. It's everybody loves Laura Bailey.
00:48:25
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely incredible. I've seen people go off on, what was it, Horizon Zero Dawn because of the design they did with Ayla. And a lot of people out there were like, oh, that's a feminine character. She used to wear makeup and have one.
00:48:42
Speaker
and skip the outfit and blah, blah, blah. I'm like, I'm sorry. And that time I am not taking time out of my day to put makeup on to wear short armor. I want I want my body covered. I want to be protected. I will put mud on my face so I can't be seen. Also, the apocalypse for monsters, the apocalypse happened. I don't think makeup really exists anymore. Like.
00:49:11
Speaker
I'm a brawling woman. I'm an independent woman taking down the mechanical beasts. Fuck you. It's dying. Yeah. Now, if you want to say Horizon Zero Dawn is a very boring game, I absolutely agree with you there because I do not like Horizon Zero Dawn because I found it absolutely boring.
00:49:29
Speaker
And I could not get past like I got past the tutorial area and I'm like, I'm done with this game. I am bored out of my mind with everything playing it. I just could not finish it. I knew a friend that was like obsessed with it and had an incredible.
00:49:47
Speaker
handmade Ayla cosplay that they would wear all the time to conventions and sadly they kept getting hit on by either people that were like a little under the age or like people who were in their 40s and they're like I am uncomfortable I'm like I believe you huh well okay then
00:50:12
Speaker
I think they ended up getting they were talking with somebody and they're like exchanging like gamer tags and they're like, oh, that person was 17 going to block them instantly. Yep. I'm like, yeah, you probably should. Jeez.
00:50:29
Speaker
Moving on to the world of live service game news, starting off with this week's Final Fantasy XIV news. First off, Dawn Trail releases July 2nd, early access on June 28th if you pre-ordered the expansion. Also, in current events in the game, the Mughal Tombstone event is on now until June 24th. And I don't have money.
00:50:51
Speaker
The Make It Rain campaign is on until May 31st, where you can get yourself a Kappa outfit and earn 50% more MGP at the Gold Saucer. The Dragon Quest X event is on June 5th to 20th. And also, there was a live letter from the producer, Day of Recording this today, where we got the official job action trailers. So they showed off what the new level 100 abilities are going to be for all the classes, gave us a more in-depth look to Viper and Pictomancer's abilities.
00:51:21
Speaker
Uh, they talked about the update to the benchmark, which will be coming out ideally around late May. All players will be getting a free Fantasia through a quest as well. And they're also going to be adding a grace period for when you use a Fantasia of, I believe, uh, six.
00:51:38
Speaker
an hour, an hour, six hours or so. I can't remember what the grace period they said was, but they're going to implement a grace period for like after you use the Fantasia. If you don't like how something looks like as you're playing with it, you can then go back and undo the Fantasia.
00:51:55
Speaker
I guess that makes it a lot easier, but I feel like as someone who spent almost two hours creating a character and then creating a second character, I don't want to do it again.
00:52:10
Speaker
I mean, I find Fantasias are for people who like to, who are very species fluid in the game and like playing as everything. And honestly, this is actually kind of nice because this will give people the ability to, this is giving people, they're like, hey guys, I know you want, this is Yoshi P saying, hello, Final Fantasy 14 gamers.
00:52:33
Speaker
I know you want to play as a female Hrothgar, so we're going to give you all a free Fantasia so you can change it to the female Hrothgar. Because let's be real, that's what this is going to do for people. It's the people who want to play as the Febroth. They can do that without spending some money.
00:52:49
Speaker
But then there's like different outfits that go to like different genders. And it's it's such a hassle. Yeah, granted my I love my aura. Her name is Zarya Primrose. I made one of the bunny races after myself. And I'm like, I'm done. Too is enough. Honestly, too much.
00:53:10
Speaker
Two characters are enough. I actually finally just made an alt account over in the Oceania data centers because I'm like, well, I'll need access to Oceania eventually because that's right now the grand data center where all data centers can travel to. So I made an Aora girl because Aora supremacy. Oh, yeah. Cat girls are overrated on the Aora train, ladies and gentlemen.
00:53:37
Speaker
So my my favorite thing to do when it comes to Final Fantasy and playing it is I Never pronounce the characters names correctly I will always call them something else like the otter eyes gonna be the lizard people you have the cat people It drives my boyfriend insane because he got me into this game and I'm like, you know what? I'm gonna mess with you You've got me addicted now. It's your problem
00:54:04
Speaker
It's your, I mean, shout out to Red, shout out to Red Panda, our gamer RPG. Great guests we've had on. He called Stinian Eisenstein, and I'm just like, oh, that one hurts. I call him Einstein. I love Einstein. No! He's designed so cool. And his outfit, I love his red outfit.
00:54:25
Speaker
And then, let's see. There was, there was, I cannot remember his name, but it starts with an H. It's a really long name. Harshefahrt? Yes, I call him Hassenfeffer. Hassenfeffer. It's German for rabbit stew. I mean, he looks so wet, truth be told. It looks like he's like constantly in the state of like having a rain cloud over him.
00:54:55
Speaker
And I won't give spoilers for, like, the scene that happens, but at that particular moment, in that part in the game where that thing happens to him, I had a soda, like, explode around me. So I was taking care of a mess, and I turn around, and I see the scene happen, and you can hear me in the background going, what the fuck is going on? There's soda everywhere! Are you stupid? What is going on?
00:55:36
Speaker
That's actually pretty fucking funny not gonna lie. That's hilarious. I love amaric though. He's my favorite. Amaric is great. Amaric is great
00:55:45
Speaker
In Battle Royale and live service game news, Apex Legends released a brand new character, Alter, for season 21. And also in Fortnite news, the Yoda back accessory in Fortnite has been banned from the game as doing certain emotes with this equipped will crash the game and turn Yoda into string cheese.
00:56:08
Speaker
I'm sorry, I was drinking water with my nose. How? So the one the the doing the Zoidberg emote with the Yoda backpack equipped, something doesn't register right with the Yoda backpack and, you know, like he starts to glitch out like straight like, you know, when you see like things glitch and they'll turn into long thin lines.
00:56:36
Speaker
Yeah, that kind of happens. And because of that, the game crashes. Have a crash issue with Apex, though. I don't know. I don't. I don't know. We know the biggest thing with Apex was people like hacking.

Gaming Issues and Nostalgia

00:56:52
Speaker
Oh, especially if you're streaming it and you're like a heavy, heavy apex streamer. And I'm like, granted.
00:56:59
Speaker
I like I only played a little bit of it and I can only play a little bit of it, but I really love Bloodhound and I'm like, I'm going to get back into this and play like maybe 45 minutes. But like at the same time, I don't want someone getting in my computer. Yeah, I believe it's I believe it was the big target attack of what our apex reporter missed said it was it was on the
00:57:25
Speaker
It wasn't like purse. It was like they were able to get in through I honestly don't remember what they got through But if you go listen back a couple weeks, we are apex reporter missed it did cover it all Definitely go listen to that for that, but it's been Handled for now, but apex is it'll get hacked again the future like it's kind of just
00:57:47
Speaker
They haven't done much. Also, speaking of Apex, we actually now go to our Apex reporter, Mist, with this week's Apex report. It's ya boy, Mist here, with your update into all things Apex Legends related. So it's been a while since the us heard from me, but that was because we just had our split one global playoffs. This series took place in Los Angeles and saw reject winnity from the APAC region taking home first place.
00:58:17
Speaker
This is awesome because it marks the first time a non-North American team won. Former world champions Dark Zero and TSM finished 2nd and 17th place respectively. That's right, the highest rated team only got 17th place this land, and marks their worst performance to date.
00:58:32
Speaker
With the first split over and the Esports World Cup around the corner, Team rosters are being shook up every day. Imperial Hal has left TSM and his 5 year duel of reps and decided to team up with Dark Zero players Jen Burton and Zero. Hal has not signed to Dark Zero though, so rumors are flying like crazy as to what this org will be.
00:58:48
Speaker
and what team they will join. They have been nicknamed by the community as a super team with 3 of the best players to ever grace apex, teaming together. Split 2 for competitive will be starting May 31st. With this split, Respawn is deploying a new landing system specifically for competitive. Every week teams will go through a snake draft and choose a POI, and when they launch through that game, a dropship will land them right above their POI. What this means is no more contesting. It says POIs can only be claimed by one team, and it is first come first serve in the draft.
00:59:15
Speaker
For the average viewer, this should be really good to see how teams adapt. You know, no longer will TSM only be playing from lava siphon. It can be playing from Mirage Voyage or from anywhere on the map. However, many teams worked hard to secure POI and they are not happy that they're going to have to be dealing with random chance as to what POI they might get.
00:59:33
Speaker
Apex season 21 has just launched, featuring a new legend by the name of Alter. This legend is crazy, she's got portals like Wraith and she can travel through dimensions as the lore behind her. The latest lore videos hint that they and Horizon have something in common. What it is, is yet to be revealed. This new season also brought along some amazing map changes to Broken Moon, taking a once hated map by much of the community to a number one map contender for most. Well, that is your Apex news for this week. Stay tuned to hear how Split 2 kicks off.
01:00:03
Speaker
Until then, stay legendary.
01:00:10
Speaker
Thanks for that mist. We now dive into the world of TCG, where in Pokรฉmon, Twilight Masquerade releases pretty soon, actually. May 24th is when Twilight Masquerade drops. In Yu-Gi-Oh!, the 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection 2 drops on May 22nd. Battles of Legend and Terminal Revenge on June 21st. The Infinite Forbidden on July 19th. And the 25th Anniversary 10 Dueling Mirrors on September 20th.
01:00:37
Speaker
In Magic the Gathering, Modern Horizons 3 drops on June 14th, Universes Beyond Assassin's Creed releases on July 5th, Bloomborough on August 2nd, pre-orders are now live for the Hatsune Miku Secret Lair cards, and also in just general Magic the Gathering news, a Black Lotus card, the most expensive card in Magic the Gathering,
01:01:01
Speaker
That's sold on auction for a new record breaking $3 million USD. And it's just a card. This was a beta, a beta, an old, I don't remember what year, beta version, beta card of Black Lotus and 3 million bucks. And also it's like, it was like PSA 10 as well. So like that's the other reason it was so goddamn expensive.
01:01:32
Speaker
I had a couple of, I used to be into magic, I had a couple of really good decks. I had a, I started with a Freelis deck when I first started getting into it. And then someone upgraded me to a Carametra deck, which I love Carametra, I wanted to do a cosplay ever. And then I got a Leliana deck.
01:01:52
Speaker
I have those commanders, and then my roommate just recently made me a deck. I don't remember what the commander is, but I'm like, cool. I have no one to play with. You've made me a deck of cards. There, now paperweights.
01:02:09
Speaker
I haven't played magic in a bit. I just finished my week in hell of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and playing that again. I love Yu-Gi-Oh! I love the card game so much. I hate the current meta of Master Duel because it's tier zero decks. It's decks that are all annoying to deal with.
01:02:33
Speaker
I love snake eyes. I absolutely love the snake eyes format. I hate I just hate master duel and ranked
01:02:41
Speaker
Love just dueling in master duel with friends. I mean hell like if you go back to a mutual streamer friend for both of us some mellow fellow like some of the first videos that he put on his YouTube channel when the game lounge crew was kind of first established was our journey through Yu-Gi-Oh! Master duel and it was such a blast that era is still peak for me of the game lounge It's still peak and also, you know, it's also what turned dr. Doofish marks into a let's player
01:03:16
Speaker
Why is that so funny to picture? Because you see the tri-state area isn't ready for my appliance serviacroid deck Because they actually don't synchronize very well at all and Perry the Platypus destroyed me with a exodia So don't know how he got all five cards
01:03:37
Speaker
Like just I feel like it's now gonna be like absolute cannon the like dupe inspirits and Perry the Patipus Just play Yu-Gi-Oh like when they're not beating each other up. They're like, listen, I'm tired. You're tired You just have a seat. I got some snacks. Let's play some doofish birds also plays Microsoft Sudoku I love Sudoku listen
01:04:01
Speaker
I think those are the jokes. I've made with two fish birds in bellows videos. Go check them out Go shout outs to some mellow fellow. He is of course also our hoyo game reporter here in the game lounge podcast so whenever So don't know when the next hoyo report will be probably next week considering it's been a couple weeks since we've had one so Look out for a new hoyo report coming soon. Also in Magic the Gathering news, Viz Media has announced the first volume of The Magic Manga. Destroy all humans, they can't be regenerated. That will receive an official English language release in Fall 2024. And in Lorkana news, Ursula's return releases at the end of the month on May 31st.
01:04:47
Speaker
I forgot they had booklets. They had actual story behind Magic the Gallery because I remember somebody going off about those. I'm like, uh-huh, uh-huh. Card go bird. I mean, yeah. Card go bird. That is how it be. Thank you. Listen, I am a cosmetic girlie, so if something looks really cute, but the stats are trash, I'm going to put it in.
01:05:11
Speaker
I want to look cute when I'm beating up a boss so my deck is gonna be full of like cute big beefy monsters and like pretty elves and like flying spiders and I'm like these all suck but you know what I look good.
01:05:28
Speaker
But that's it for everything in the Week in Review. That was all the major stories that happened in these past two weeks. Looking ahead at what's to come, here are the games that should be on your radar from May 20th to May 31st. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar.
01:05:52
Speaker
Alright, and to kick it off in good old game lounge fashion, we're gonna rapid fire these off and then talk about them after the fact. Starting off! On Monday the 20th, Songs of Conquest releases for the PC. On the 21st, Gestalt, Steam, and Cinder releases for the PC. Paper Trail releases on everything. Senua Saga, Hellblade 2 releases on the Series X and PC.
01:06:15
Speaker
System Shock comes to both PlayStation and Xboxes, and X Defiant releases for the PS5, Series X, and PC. No games on the 22nd, but on the 23rd, Brad and Fred releases on the Switch. Duck Detective, the secret salami, comes to the Switch and PC. Eternal Threads comes to all the consoles. Haunty comes to the PC. Paper Mario, and a thousand year door, comes to the Switch. World of Goo 2 also comes to the Switch and PC. On the 24th, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 releases for the PlayStation 5, Series X, and Switch.
01:06:44
Speaker
On Monday the 27th, the Rogue Prince of Persia releases on PC. Tuesday the 28th, Multiverse releases on everything but the Switch. On the 29th, Nine Souls comes to the PC. On the 30th, Aster, Blade of the Monolith comes out on everything. And Humanity makes its way to the Xbox systems. And on the 31st, F1-24 releases on everything but the Switch. And Hypercharge Unbox releases on the Series X and Xbox One.
01:07:13
Speaker
Those are some good games. I am a huge fan of Hellblade. I actually played that twice. One when I first started streaming and one for a birthday stream. And I can assure you the the small indie like group that made that took the time to actually do the research behind schizophrenia and the idea
01:07:40
Speaker
It's just outstanding and I cannot wait to play the second one. I've heard a lot of amazing things about that. I won't play it specifically just because I'm not a fan of the setting of the game. Those types of games never really just appealed to me where it's kind of set and whatnot.
01:08:03
Speaker
And it just never appealed to me. But like, fuck these games. I've heard so many great things of the games and how they represent schizophrenia. And that is the game that you want the best pair of headsets for, because you're going to need to be able to not only hear all the little voices, but the twig snapping, the leaves rustling, like the sound of like
01:08:27
Speaker
metal on metal type of deal and it is just like you can hear your character breathing as you are walking around like it is a eight hour game you could probably beat it in a shorter time depending on how you go and stuff
01:08:45
Speaker
But like just just the if you ever get a chance to just watch the intro scene of Senua in her little bowl, it is just it is. It blows me away every time I get chills just watching it. Like I will keep playing that just so I can beat up the fucking vulvar oven vulture because I hate him so much. They made a VR version that if you buy the game, you get the VR version for free.
01:09:13
Speaker
I want to do that so bad, but like motion sickness and like probably like 10 minutes and we've been like, I don't go throw up on the carpet. Some of the other games that you can look forward to. Duck Detective, The Secret Salami. I mean, I want that so bad. That looks so cute. I've seen it all over TikTok. I'm like, I'm already sold. You get to be a duck and you quack.
01:09:35
Speaker
You quack, you solvent murders. There's salami involved, which we just actually put out a brand new YouTube video. If you're listening to this on the Monday, on Friday, we put out a new YouTube video and it involves the salami in a little bit. And you should go watch it to figure out why there's salami in Final Fantasy 14.
01:09:56
Speaker
be honest, I used to really love salami. And my aunt, anytime I babysit like her kids, she would pay me with like a pound of salami. And then after like a couple weeks, I'm like, I don't want to see salami again. A pound of salami. Like pound to two pounds of salami. And listen, as a teenager in high school, I'm like, oh, it's so good. But once you get that every day, you're like, no. Yeah. Please.
01:10:25
Speaker
Remember, kids, there's a difference between being in and on the salami. Be safe about it. Be safe about your salami consumption. Yeah, don't overdo it. Obviously, the big Nintendo game coming up, Paper Mario Thousand Year Door, the classic RPG, now HD-ified and really re-graphiced to the Switch's standards and it looks amazing.
01:10:53
Speaker
And I played the first one. My roommate has gone off about the second one. And he's like, as soon as it comes out, I'm taking the whole day off, blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, I've never seen this game in my life. I don't know what you're talking about.
01:11:08
Speaker
I have it on the GameCube as a GameCube collector. It's actually one of the most recent additions to my collection just because of how expensive it is. But I do have it, thankfully. It looks good. I love the first one. My only complaint that if you have the Nintendo Switch and you have the 64 expansion that the
01:11:35
Speaker
a design of Papermarrow 64 on that looks like hot trash compared to actually physically owning it on the 64. Oh, actually, goddamn. Yes, I have. I have pointed it out. I've complained about it because like the the the graphics, even if you have like a graphics card or not, it's just there is a distinct difference between how everything looks
01:12:00
Speaker
Granted, it's the same game start to finish and it plays the same way, but like you can see subtle differences where you're like a colors off or an outlines off and you're like, I hate this, but I need to play it. Wow. It's like a hundred dollars. Yeah. Yeah, it is. And of course, the last really the really big, big one multiverse is re-releasing because
01:12:28
Speaker
It just left the marketplace. You couldn't play it anymore after it left. And now it's coming back with all the fixes that they made. And we'll see how viable it is as a platform fighter and see where it goes.
01:12:43
Speaker
Platform a platform fighter games are okay. I mean, they're they're good But like the two that do it, right are one smash bros. It's essentially what every other platform fighter tries to be And the second one that I think did it pretty damn close was
01:13:02
Speaker
Oh, no, I'm blanking on the name. Hold on. I got a Google. Oh, what's this called? Oh, what's what does it look like? Is I got it's the it's the one that has the orca and rivals of aether. Thank you. Alpha Rad YouTube channel. I don't think I've seen that one.
01:13:24
Speaker
Rivals of Aether, that is probably the one that I would say does it the closest to the Smash Bros physics wise. Oh, yeah, you can't go wrong with like Smash Bros and you can't like you can't compete with it. Honestly, like the the original is always going to be the best. And I have had too many friends that are far too good at those fighting games. They'll absolutely destroy you and like. Well, I don't want to play with you.
01:13:54
Speaker
You need like a like a KFC family meal for how hangry you are, right? Oh, no. Not the KFC bucket meals. Oh, no. Like 20 family members. You're like, this is what you need. OK. Oh, wow. But those are all the games that are coming out within the next two weeks. And with that, it's time for us to now dive into our main focus. And here's what we're discussing this week.
01:14:24
Speaker
Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. And kicking it off, our first topic of the day are the 90s. Whoo! Which is when I was born in the 90s. I was born in 93, if it makes you feel better. I was born in 97. Oh, yeah.
01:14:52
Speaker
So yeah, I'm totally a 90s kid, guys. Yeah, I haven't hit 2,000 yet. It was okay. Close enough. Yeah. So while it doesn't really apply to me a whole lot, Caris, you did get to grow up in the 90s a little bit there. So you have a good seven years compared to my three years. So.
01:15:16
Speaker
How does the video game scene in the 90s compared to the video game scene now? So there is there is a huge difference, at least graphic wise, when it comes to pixelation and smooth textures with what they have now. Because my first, if you would believe it, my very first video game I ever got when I was young was Pokemon Yellow. Classic.
01:15:45
Speaker
and my older brother had Pokemon Red and my other older brother had Pokemon Blue and there's just such a big difference between getting Game Boys and trying to like sit really close to your grandma's lamp to like try and play and having like this really long really long cord to like trade Pokemon
01:16:09
Speaker
Compared to now where it's like, oh, I just got to put my switch against yours. Boom. Have a Pokemon good Here is a is a is a pooch as a good as a magic car, but it's a magic up It's got it knows hyper beam how I hacked it obviously And even even like
01:16:32
Speaker
Even now, when it comes to technology, truth be told, having a system and fighting with your games trying to work and your controllers failing on you and you having to get a thin PS2 or a thick PS2 or a PlayStation
01:16:53
Speaker
it's it's so different compared to now where at least with steam boom you can buy a game where it's like no i want to go to like family video and rent it or heaven forbid blockbuster that was a thing yeah little little blockbuster oh but
01:17:16
Speaker
I know a lot of a lot of companies now are trying to do like remaster of games or put like a new spin on what they were. But I'm sorry. I like I like it the way it was. If you ever remember Snowboard of Kids for the 64, that game is almost two hundred dollars. Jesus.
01:17:42
Speaker
Yeah, and I remember playing that and Snow or Murder Kids 2 with my brothers and fighting over it constantly to rent it at family video like every time. Holy Bully. Because I bought, I bought, I used to play Pokemon Puzzle League with my mom religiously.
01:18:06
Speaker
And I bought her a copy of it. It cost me $100 and I had to sell a lot of games for it. You know, the first thing she didn't do, she didn't even play it. I'm like, what the fuck? I was so mad. I'm like, oh, childhood game. It's collecting dust. What the hell? Ah, yes.
01:18:34
Speaker
And also back back in at least like the 90s and growing up, a lot of games had not only boxes with them, but some games you got collectibles. Oh, yeah. They have now with like digital stuff. No, no, no. All right. Lunar and Lunar 2 was around the 90s.
01:18:58
Speaker
Lunar 2, not only do you get a copy of both the discs, you get a little booklet that gives you a step by step within the first chapter. You also get music for both the games.
01:19:16
Speaker
as well as Lunar 2, you have a special little cloth map with little pop-up figures of all the characters in the game, as well as Luna's actual locket from the game. And I'm like, man, back in the day, it was like 40 bucks. Inflation is the worst.
01:19:42
Speaker
Yeah. Gotta love how the world turns out. Lunar, I'm actually not very familiar with the Lunar games. It is an RPG.
01:19:56
Speaker
that focuses around Alex and Luna. And they are the group together, you know, with childhood friends and you learn, you know, what happens to them later down the line. And it's one of those games where you can you can grind for ages just fighting monsters and you can see the monsters on the map because they will go after you. They will not leave you alone. Oh, oh, no.
01:20:24
Speaker
But what I love about it is just like any RPG out there, the more you level up, the more spells you get, the powerful you get. Each town has like new weapons, but they're more expensive. So with Lunar, every character can only hold 8 items.
01:20:45
Speaker
So you have to decide between healing potions, magic potions, bringing your people back to life, carrying them from poison. You actually have to do some inventory management and your little buddy that follows you can only carry so many items. So you've got to decide what's important. And if you're going to make it to the final boss,
01:21:15
Speaker
Interesting. That's a huge thing with older RPGs is the inventory management with much more limited spots and inventory space. It changes with Lunar too, if I'm not mistaken.
01:21:32
Speaker
But there's there's a lot of games out there when it comes to like managing your items. That's like you've got to decide if you're going to spend like a thousand dollars on like a bunch of like cheap potions. By the time you get to the next town, you have the mega potions and you're like, God damn it, there goes my money. I can't sell these for cheap because by the time I sell all these, I can get like one mega potion.
01:22:01
Speaker
Yeah, that's definitely a thing you don't see much of anymore with RPGs. There was one called Rhapsody of the Musical Adventure that they did a remaster for the Nintendo DS, if I'm not mistaken. And the Nintendo DS one plays a little bit compared to the PlayStation one.
01:22:29
Speaker
Because in the Nintendo DS version, you basically go around collecting dolls. And each doll has its own backstory. If it works with other dolls, and the more you level up that certain doll, the more spells you get. Or in the PlayStation version, you don't get that. You don't get the extra spells.
01:22:54
Speaker
Why would you? I could crush people with pancakes, but I can't like throw confetti at them. I don't understand. You got a choice. Confetti your pancakes.
01:23:11
Speaker
You can't go wrong with pancakes. I mean, no one could go wrong with pancakes. I mean, you get you can get sick of pancakes, which I mean, which my city does every week, every 10 days in July because of an event we hold where every day there's like multiple pancake breakfasts being held all across the city. Yeah.
01:23:35
Speaker
No, it's all the same pancakes though. It's the same pancakes. You could do like potato pancakes. You can do like fish cakes. You could do like, I feel like pancakes is such like a wine.
01:23:52
Speaker
word like salad, you know, or nachos like, yeah, no, it's all, it's just plain pancakes with maple syrup. It's because we're cowboys. Okay. It's the Yeehaw festival that happens every 10 days here.
01:24:11
Speaker
I mean it's like yeah sure there's a Midway in concerts and shit but it's just pancakes and sausage and more pancakes! I don't want to be stuck living my Red Dead Redemption 2 dream. We'll just eat pancakes at the side of the road. I mean legit that's how it works. It's on the side of the road too. That always sounds awesome!
01:24:38
Speaker
Uh, uh, yeah. Anyways. Um, do you think with where we are for where video games are, do you think we could ever like go back to like with where the nineties excelled with like, uh, games, like, especially like with like physical, like with those physical bonuses that you would sometimes get with games. You think we would ever go back to that, like, or reach that point again?
01:25:05
Speaker
I don't know, because I feel like with how video games are evolving, I feel like they're always going to move forward. And it's never going to be that chance where someone's going to look at Chrono Trigger and be like, oh, I like a game with many different endings. And it's choose your own adventure, because there's far too many people that are like, either I'm going to beat this once
01:25:33
Speaker
or I'm going to like a achievement hunt for all the things and that I'm never going to play it again. Yeah. You're

Gaming References and Reminiscing

01:25:44
Speaker
one of two. You're one of two wolves. You either play it once or you play forever. There's no in between. Yeah, there really isn't. Yeah, you're absolutely right about that. It's one and done or it's like, yep, this is my life now.
01:26:00
Speaker
Because there's a good chunk of games that will take reference to others. There's one thing I love seeing the most is Easter eggs of other games and other games. Like Stardew Valley, Abigail has, if I'm not mistaken, a poster of Chrono from Chrono Trigger in her room. And I love little nods like that.
01:26:30
Speaker
compared to like every single Pokemon game usually has like the current system in there. Like, uh, I think one of them had like the 64, like the game Q were like a quote unquote PlayStation system. I'm like, Oh, that's cool. Too bad. I'm 11. And I'm going on an adventure with a bunch of pocket monsters getting beat up by other pocket monsters. Mm hmm.
01:26:57
Speaker
Yeah, Easter eggs. I love a good Easter egg. Oh, God, I can't even think of any good ones, though, at the top of my mind. I've seen a few good ones. I can't remember any. Why can't I? Once you see it, once you hear it, you're like, oh, man, now I remember. Yeah. Listen, you're from the 90s. You don't need to remember that. We're old and ancient at this point.
01:27:27
Speaker
Yeah. Uh-huh. You're born in the 90s. You now officially get a certificate in the mail saying that you're too old. Oh, excellent. That's just what I wanted. You're already turned into dust. It's OK. Not dust. Yeah, you're reaching that point. You're reaching that point that you're dust. People always call you an old person. I don't want to be dust. I want to be flesh. You'll reach it soon.
01:27:58
Speaker
So aside from some of the games that you've listed already, what other games stand out to you from this era and what genres define your gaming experience in the 90s? So I really love I really love RPGs because there's something about like spending an entire day just collecting and fighting monsters.
01:28:26
Speaker
to get money to get the next best equipment. There's a lot of games from my childhood that I would sit there with my mom and have good family time. When you have someone that introduces you to a game and you get addicted, and then you can play it forever, and then you can pass it down to the next generation.
01:28:54
Speaker
The main one being Castlevania Symphony of the Night. Yeah, I know that backwards and forwards. I still, to this day, cannot get 200% in that game. Because there's specific areas that you need to do certain things to get into, like this weird backwards, upside-down, flippy bullshit that you're like, yeah!
01:29:18
Speaker
And the only difference between getting 100%, 150%, 200% is the female character in the game is like, oh, yeah, I'm going to, you know, stay here and watch this castle fall apart or I'm going to stay here with my brother or I'm going to go chase after like Alucard, you know, nothing else changes in the game.
01:29:46
Speaker
But, but every day I work towards trying to get Maria to follow me and I'm like, you know, I, you're cute. I met you like five minutes ago, but like, I can't win you over. I saved you probably. That's the best thing. Yeah. Plus with games like that, there's one thing that I really love and I wish more games would do is different names that you put in and will do different things.
01:30:15
Speaker
Like if you put in, you could run around as a little axe guy. You could run around as the different characters from the other Castlevania games. You could run around as a bunch of stuff, but there's a course, you know, pros and cons of that. If you're going to run around as one of the axe characters from the game itself, you can only jump two inches off the ground and there's a lot of jumping in the game. Good luck. You're going to fall.
01:30:46
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely. Like, you can't get the jump boots because, well, you're happened two inches and you're like, man, you're not going anywhere. Have fun fighting Dragula now.

Collaborations and Console Transitions

01:31:05
Speaker
Yeah, I gotta before we get back to the topic. I just got a DM from a friend. This is breaking news. Final Fantasy 14 starting turns out it started today. Final Fantasy 14 has collaborated with Mountain Dew. No.
01:31:27
Speaker
Yeah, no, I mean, it's it means that there's you can get Mountain Dew rewards in the U.S. only. By going to like, I got to check out what the fuck. Mountain Dew gaming dot com slash FF 14 Dawn Trail.
01:31:54
Speaker
Please take me to this okay. I can't access the site cuz I'm not I'm Canadian Fuck you Mountain Dew It's real and they there's a mountain you so it looks like it looks like you can get points by finding specific models and under the caps there's codes you can get Get of special
01:32:23
Speaker
No! There's a limited edition PC you could possibly win. There's some merch you can get. And the big thing is the Mountain Zoo mount. Oh my god! No!
01:32:43
Speaker
It's the U.S. only because of Quebec, because Quebec has a law that prevents this shit from entering Canada anymore. And it's stupid, because I would totally buy fucking Mountain Dews to get the Mountain Zoo. I hate this. TC, if you're listening to this podcast somehow,
01:33:06
Speaker
You better get the Mountain Zoo mouse so that way we can experience what this is. It's just a dragon. That's all it is. It's a big bird. It's just a dragon bird whose antennas are on its chin instead of his head and his wings kind of look like Baja Blast. That is the dumbest thing I am I refuse. At least we didn't get the Baja Blast.
01:33:37
Speaker
I can't believe this is real. What is this timeline? Listen, I like Mountain Dew. I like Mountain Dew code red, but like I'm not. No, no, no, no, come on. A lot of fantasy style, please. Making a fool of yourself.
01:33:55
Speaker
Well, that's our breaking news report right there in the middle of the podcast. I hate this. I hate this so much. Why? I'm in pain. You're in pain.
01:34:19
Speaker
I didn't pay. OK, I don't play Final Fantasy anymore. It's like, all right, my character is down for it. I don't I don't own like a guild. It's OK. I won't lose a house. I got an apartment. I got a room and a guild. It's OK. How many long and once I'll have my boyfriend do it. But I'm like, no, not for me no more. I'm out. Oh, my God. Wow.
01:34:50
Speaker
All right, well back to the topic at hand after that amazing derail from Yoshi P himself I will never forgive the man Yoshi P for that. Oh my god Unbelievable
01:35:03
Speaker
So from there, Carrots, so you grew up with the PlayStation and I guess you got to live through the transition period from PS1 to the PS2. So what was that like going through that period? Oh, so I remember when the PS2
01:35:28
Speaker
came out that for anybody who doesn't know what a boob tube is, it's just a really, really, really thick TV. And that's when they started changing the style of the TV to go with the style of the new system.
01:35:47
Speaker
And I remember going nuts for the PS2 because it opened a world for new games and the start of the backwards compatibility because now you don't need the PlayStation to play PlayStation games. You can just get a PS2 and play PlayStation games. And I remember
01:36:11
Speaker
there there was there was there was two little tricks for the the ps2 because it came out with a thicker version and a thinner version with a thicker one you could stain it up on its side because it had this
01:36:27
Speaker
Weird, like, I don't even know how to explain it. It almost looked like a strange looking taco that you put your PS2 in that you can connect four controllers in. And it's really good when you have siblings and you all want to play together. Because if it's just you and your other sibling and then you got another sibling, like the three of you, you can't play games together.
01:36:55
Speaker
So it made things a little bit easier, but then everybody kept saying, don't put your PS2 on the side. It can mess with it, blah, blah, blah. And we would all go nuts for everybody had their own special controllers. And the worst brand of controller out there was called the Wildcat controllers. They were very cheap.
01:37:22
Speaker
they sucked and they were very clunky and chunky and like the the nubs of it felt like gel so holding it you're like you feel like your hands are melting if you have sensory issues and those are easily breakable, truth be told. You put it down once it gets nervous and just like malfunctions okay?
01:37:46
Speaker
And then one of my favorite tricks is the little icon on the PS2 itself. You can turn it in any direction that you want. So you could have it upside down sideways to show which direction your PlayStation is facing. And I think that's really cool.
01:38:06
Speaker
But I loved the PS2 so much better because of not only all the chords that it came with, all the games, like the different colored memory cards, but
01:38:25
Speaker
Just seeing the progression of like a weird sandwich to like, I don't even know what the PS2 would look like now. How would you describe it? This funky little like computer that you're like, oh, it's lighter. You know, I feel like I can just shake it violently and it will still work. Which it does, surprisingly.
01:38:49
Speaker
But then you do have the downside of if you get the thinner one, which is more built for travel, it's also a little bit more fragile. So if you accidentally step on it, the thing's gone. You're gonna have to buy a new one. Like...
01:39:13
Speaker
So switching from something that has a harder case to a more softer one, you have to take an account of where is it going to go? Is it going in a cabinet? Is it going on the floor? How am I going to position this so everybody can play?
01:39:33
Speaker
I much prefer it, you know, and I remember growing up and playing the Resident Evil games with my grandpa and sitting there and having access to like the walkthrough and helping him through and being like, oh, there's a zombie and then me not paying attention because I'm too busy with it.
01:39:58
Speaker
Which I love, like listen, you learn, you got great motor skills, you learn how to read, it's great. Who needs school? Just get a PS2. Who needs, who needs school? Just play video games. You'll get all of your basic things ever in any, every, in any video game that exists.

Accessibility in Gaming

01:40:20
Speaker
Oh no.
01:40:22
Speaker
Bless you. Bless you. Thank you. You'll just get you get everything you need. You're like, oh, it was coming. I could have like always happening. It's going to happen. Because what's great, too, is a lot of PlayStation games have like a blue color to it where a lot of
01:40:48
Speaker
like other PlayStation case have like a clear color to it. So some games are going to work better in a PS2 than others. Hmm. Yeah. Oh, OK. Is there anything else you want to add from to the 90s in general that with the video game scene or the PlayStation or any of the games at all before we move on to the second topic of the day?
01:41:17
Speaker
I feel like if anybody has a chance to go back and relive their childhood games they need to, because looking at a younger perspective with rose-colored glasses and looking at it now, you're probably going to be like, man, I either don't remember this part, or I've had somebody beat this level, or I didn't realize how hard and frustrating this is.
01:41:46
Speaker
learner one and uh as a kid trying to play that uh i couldn't i couldn't beat the final boss took me 10 years to beat the final boss and i did it for a stream and i beat it in under 20 minutes and i'm like i am so mad at myself young me gave up although me is like i hate myself
01:42:11
Speaker
Yeah. No, I, I, I understand that feeling greatly with a few old games that I never beat as a child. And when I came back to him, like, wow, that was surprisingly easy.
01:42:23
Speaker
Because you have walkthroughs now. You have people that have played it and you can look up on the internet and be like, oh, these are the key things I need to have to beat this. Or as a kid, you couldn't do that. If you wanted a walkthrough, you had to print out like 50 to 60 pages. Okay. Now we have booklets and now we have the internet. Like back then, no, that was not a thing.
01:42:48
Speaker
Yeah, no, definitely. And also just I feel like your skill set and understanding like the depths of the games and their workings develop more as an adult than a child. Mm hmm. But yeah, I noticed this and you're like, because I was probably fine. Yeah. Uh huh. Exactly. I was a child.
01:43:11
Speaker
Yeah. My brain was smooth. Now my brain is lumpy. No, my brain is still smooth. I can still like button go burn. You're like, it doesn't work.
01:43:27
Speaker
Well, moving on to our second topic of the day, accessibility in games, but more specifically, flashing light accessibility. Because accessibility has come a long way and it's actually been like with where accessibility is now to where it was years ago, it's actually much
01:43:45
Speaker
It's it's come a long way and it like you have access for color blindness You have access for here those hearing impaired Visually impaired there's some stuff for that as well depending on the game But one that is like still Like because when you brought it up, I'm like, huh there's really not a lot being done for Sensitivity to flashing lights. Mm-hmm
01:44:16
Speaker
So where how can this accessibility be implemented? Like, walk us through. Walk us through what you would do, Carrots, to help implement this more in video games. So there are a few.
01:44:36
Speaker
games out there that do have accessibility so that you can turn the screen shaking off, the flashing lights off, but a lot of it doesn't do that much. It's like putting a Band-Aid over an open wound. It's not going to make it heal faster.
01:44:55
Speaker
A really, really good example of that is Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation. There isn't that many flashing lights to it. There's no problems. You still have some summons where it's like a little lightning here or there. The Final Fantasy remake that they made for Steam, you can turn the flashing lights off.
01:45:23
Speaker
But there is the subtle blinding flash of like Barrett's gun shooting or Clown Sword colliding with somebody that you can't turn those off. I have spent like months messing with settings and mods for that game, but there's no way of turning that off.
01:45:48
Speaker
So it makes it very, very hard for people who have those issues that it's like, I have this $60 game that I played an hour into it. And the only thing I want to do is throw up. Like.
01:46:06
Speaker
There's more out there for people with blindness or people who can't hear than it is for people who are like a thunderstorm is going to make me hit the floor.
01:46:20
Speaker
Which sucks. Yeah, it sucks so much. I can go driving up to the store on a beautiful sunny day and I can see the trees out of the corner of my eye. But that subtle flashing is what sets my brain off. And it's like I'm weak throughout the entire day. It's terrible. And there's a lot of really good games that I really want to play.
01:46:49
Speaker
But I can't, I am like that one part of that little group where it's like, cool, new game. I want it, but you're not accommodating me. Yeah.
01:47:03
Speaker
Are there like third party tools that could exist to help with that? Like a like a screen protector to help lower the intense. Is it the intensity of the flashes that does it or is it just like the flash in general? Like if it was intensified less, would that help at all? It's usually depending, depending on people's severity.
01:47:29
Speaker
There's some people who have seizures or epilepsy or like me who is weakened by not only high-pitched noises but also flashlights to even if we got one of those
01:47:44
Speaker
I've seen them off of Amazon. There is, if there's special glasses you can get, which kind of defeats the purpose when you actually have glasses and you have a headset and you have another pair of glasses on top of that, like your face is just crushed, or there's a blue screen that you can like tape over your computer or your TV.
01:48:07
Speaker
that uh might work for some might work for others there's different tricks you can do like turning down the brightness of your own game or turning down the brightness of your computer which has helped me in the past but when you're when you don't realize when when you turn down the brightness of a game and you get so into it that you've been sitting there for
01:48:35
Speaker
three or four hours and you just get lost in it. And then when you look away, you're like, I'm blinded again. You don't realize when you get so hyper focused on something that you really love, that your, your body starts to hurt and you end up ignoring it, that you're like, why do I feel really sick right now?
01:48:58
Speaker
So it's a blessing and a curse you find something that works but it affects you in the long run So there's no real balance
01:49:09
Speaker
I see. So what steps can game devs take towards making it more accessible to that? Because this is comparatively to other accessibility options when it comes to the hearing impaired and the color blindness. Light sensitivity is
01:49:31
Speaker
is a much smaller demographic for this kind of thing in games. So, but what steps can devs take to help with this?
01:49:42
Speaker
I feel like if game developers actually worked with, like, or had people on their staff that suffer from epilepsy, that have seizures and stuff like that, to understand, okay, if a little, like, if a little in your face flash grenade is gonna affect this person and cause them to go into a
01:50:12
Speaker
episode, you know, to take that away because you can still do like maybe instead of like a white flash, you could do like a purple or you could do like a gold or a different color. That would also work. Or allowing those kinds of options. Yeah. A bright white flashing light is very blinding for anybody. And for somebody who's photosensitive, it's like
01:50:41
Speaker
fireworks going off in your eyes my god i can't even imagine that like that's because depending on the severity of people's epilepsy uh a subtle like one second isn't that bad but when it goes on for like longer than a second that's when it takes a wear and tear on your brain
01:51:05
Speaker
And Dead Cells, as a really good example, has accessibility in their game where you can turn up the brightness, change the colors of the monsters, yourself, the items, so you can see things.
01:51:21
Speaker
as well as taking out the flashing lights you can put on different music so it's not all high pitching it could be like higher lower to whatever you need you can take off music for different areas you can even like uh even work with like the screen shaking or the motion and stuff like that
01:51:46
Speaker
companies really need to like do a deep dive of what really makes those with seizures tick and make it better for them. Because sure, I could spend like 30, 40 bucks to put a blue screen over my computer, but I don't have a computer. I work off of a TV because a bigger screen also makes it easier for a
01:52:13
Speaker
playing games as well. And it depends on depends on the person to maybe multiple screens, maybe one big one, maybe one small one. So a $30, $40 screen is not going to be enough to cover the entire surface of what I mean.
01:52:30
Speaker
Yeah, that was, that's, uh, that would be, uh, quite the purchase of a massive strip of blue screening. Yeah. That actually works. Yeah, exactly. You're, you're spending money on what might may not even work for you. That's yeah. That's a very valid point to bring up as well.
01:52:53
Speaker
Because it's another reason why I much prefer playing on console, because a lot of computers now have
01:53:05
Speaker
fancy gimmicks with like their keyboards or their PCs where it's little subtle like uh, rainbow changes and the tubing or the keyboard automatically like Pulses with the rainbow color. Okay. Well no need to call me out Listen mine does that too It also does a solid mode where it's one solid color
01:53:29
Speaker
and it's one of those for anybody out there that's easy but out of the corner of my eye that's constantly in my vision that's also going to set me off and i feel like if you just work with more people with uh with seizures and epilepsy of different various levels just instead of being a white bright flashing light or a high-pitched irritating noise change into something a little bit more subtle or just change the color or
01:53:59
Speaker
make better settings so we can just physically take it out entirely because you really don't need flashing unless you're playing like a Call of Duty game or a first-person shooter you can you can damn it a bit yeah no absolutely absolutely and like when it comes to like
01:54:16
Speaker
When it comes to modern games now, at least then again, I kind of just I might just be blind to it because I don't notice a whole lot of that. But then again, I also don't play a lot of like like I'm mostly playing RPGs and not a lot of like really like hard action based games as much anymore. So.
01:54:38
Speaker
Because it limits you to when you have this type of like disability and they come out with this brand new game and you have to watch the trailer for it. But even the trailer sets you off. Yeah. And it's like, damn, I can't have one nice thing now, can I? Yeah, like what the fuck? I just wanted to watch a YouTube video. Oh, it looks like I'm on the floor.
01:55:07
Speaker
Yeah, I gotta go call my caretaker, be like, I'm free. Help me. Because the hardest thing with me, especially with how I am with flashing lights is I could play a roguelike for hours and just suffer through those flashing lights. And then after I'm done and I relax, I'll have an episode. And it's like.
01:55:38
Speaker
half the time you always tell yourself listen to your body you listen to your triggers you know what's gonna affect you but goddamn do i not love this game and i just i can't put it down and it becomes very addicting where you put yourself in those positions where it's like i'm injuring myself to have fun but i'm having fun and i'm forgetting that i'm injuring myself
01:56:04
Speaker
Now, you also have pots. Yes. Does that affect your gaming in any way as well alongside with the photosensitivity? Yes. So my episodes are are strangely triggered between a lot of people have the same when it comes to pots. You're not eating enough. You're not drinking enough.
01:56:31
Speaker
You're not getting enough salt in your system. You're eating too big of a meal. Um, I'm also affected by subtle flashing lights, repeated high pitched noises. Like I have to wear compression stockings wherever I go, which doesn't seem too bad. It's like someone constantly hugging your legs or your thighs or your feet. But I can assure you putting them on in the morning is just, I'm sitting down. I'm not going anywhere. Why do I need them on type of thing?
01:57:00
Speaker
But if you're sitting for a long period of time and you don't constantly get up, like all the all that blood is just in your feet. And then once you get up and you get lightheaded, you're either sitting down, whacking your head on something or you're on the floor. So I have to
01:57:28
Speaker
constantly take breaks every hour when I stream or every hour and a half depending on what I'm doing to Get food walk upstairs use the bathroom even though I don't gotta go like you you have to force yourself to Be like, okay. I've been sitting for four hours. I'm working. I need to move I
01:57:52
Speaker
But I don't want to move. I don't want food. I want to keep enjoying my game. But like, I don't want to die later. But I also don't want people to hear me like crunching on some really loud ass chips. So like, I don't want to mute because I want to keep talking. It sucks as a streamer.
01:58:21
Speaker
Like, what do you do? Like, I'm just... I'm fucking dust here at this point. Um... Get... Oh, what is it? Get that filter that Doritos made. The anti-crunch filter.
01:58:33
Speaker
that you didn't hear it. I hate that so much. You never heard of it. Have you heard of this? No. So I'm pretty sure it was Doritos. They made this application that you can install is basically like a filter for your microphone that basically if you crunch right into the mic, it doesn't pick it up. I'm in I'm in this weird boat where like I'm perfectly OK with listening to like all my friends eat.
01:59:02
Speaker
But like, if I'm streaming and I'm eating, I'm like so subconscious of like how loud I'm eating because I'll eat everything between like healthy chips or like a bowl of cereal or like crunchy vegetables. And I'm like, man, I've never been so self-conscious of what I'm doing that I have a mic so close. Yeah, it's Doritos crunch cancellation. That's what it's called. That's so dumb.
01:59:33
Speaker
I've never hated something more in my life. Yeah, I saw it was a software to help stop the crunch. Food Network even made an article on it. That's crazy. Of course, Food Network. Of course they did. Of course they did.
02:00:00
Speaker
Well, you also don't realize too, like, if you're if you're sitting there, and you get in the zone, you don't realize how long you've been playing video games. Oh, yeah. It's like four in the morning. You're like, I should go to sleep. Yeah, no, you absolutely lose track of time. It is a very much a thing that happens all the time. Mm hmm.
02:00:19
Speaker
Because it flies by when you're having fun. And what I do for my streaming is I usually sit cross legged. Oh, fuck. I table. Oh, fuck. I do it, too. I legit have to constantly like during this whole recording, I was I'd like I'd like I'll bring my feet up cross legged. I'm like, no, football is fucking.
02:00:45
Speaker
those fucking things down. Stop it. I'm scared of the ground. OK, my feet, one foot goes on the ground or both. And if it's both, I'm standing up. I blame my elementary school teachers for making me sit crisscross applesauce. It's their fault. Oh, my gosh. So I have a little table that I stream on with my mic and everything. And like.
02:01:07
Speaker
It's the best position for me. It's the most comfortable one. And you don't realize how your bones get stuck when you're bent this way until you get up and you're like, oh, crack it like a glow stick. Oh, that's a concerning amount of cracks. Listen, listen between the pots
02:01:29
Speaker
and the like flashing lights and the fucking chronic pain. I'm just all okay. I have accepted it. I accepted it at 30. I'm accepting it at 31. Oh no.
02:01:44
Speaker
Well, hopefully in the future more games and game devs will become better with the tools to help people with photosensitivity moving on. Just work with people who have seizures. Work with people who have grandma seizures. That's all you need to do.
02:02:06
Speaker
Grandma seizures? They're called grandmaul. Grandmaul seizures. Okay, I misheard that so bad. Oh my god. So that is like the worst case scenario where someone has to put, someone has to hold your head to the side so you don't throw up.
02:02:29
Speaker
have to make sure your jaw doesn't lock. That's one of those you were going to the hospital for. Oh, so the the Porygon incident type C. Pretty much. Gotcha. I hated the I hated as a one downside about Pokemon is that episode. That one episode in the whole reason Porygon was never shown in the anime or its evolution line ever again.
02:02:52
Speaker
I cannot stand the lavender town music because that is a good example of sound that sets me off. Granted it's good but it's like an ice pick in my head where it's like I have to
02:03:10
Speaker
I have to, I have to go outside and touch grass, okay? And that's how bad it is. Ah, so that's, well, I mean, to be fair, you guys. And I'm gonna go pick us up in the grass.
02:03:25
Speaker
Well, time to touch the grass. Puts on Lavender Town. Deem runs outside. There's some grass to touch. Comes back inside. Lavender Town stops playing. It starts playing applause. You touched grass today. Good job. We'll be back tomorrow for your Daily Touching Grass ritual.
02:03:47
Speaker
We actually, I used to work at this Home Depot, and there's someone that left a little fake grass patch that someone was going to take and put in their home. So I took it home because it looked like a little coaster, and I'm like, guys, I can touch grass inside. Boom, it's right next to me. Fuck you. Check it out, bitch. Check it out. Now what? Not the fake grass at TwitchCon. No. Yeah.
02:04:16
Speaker
Uh, well, is there anything else you would like to add to this topic? I don't care. It's before we head on to the bonus level. Uh, no. All right. Well, my whole heart in the man, your whole heart and it's still beaten and we're still sitting upright or lightly slouched or whatever position. We also like sure. Okay.
02:04:43
Speaker
They tell you to set up and you do it, but you're like, I'm going back to shrimp mode. My spine is broken. You're telling me a shrimp fried this rice? I love that joke. That was my favorite. It is. It really is. Well, with that, it's time for us to now start closing things out and head on into the

Gaming History and Culinary Preferences

02:05:03
Speaker
bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals and recap in gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
02:05:13
Speaker
And to kick it off, we, of course, have this week in gaming history from May 20th to June 2nd. Here's some things that happened in the past, starting with the major events on May 20th in 1985. Nintendo of America counter claimed counterclaims versus Universal Studios in court over Donkey Kong infringement suit of 1982, because there was that whole universal versus Nintendo on Donkey Kong, King Kong properties.
02:05:43
Speaker
And that was a historic moment there. On May 21st, 1984, Atari discontinued the Atari 5200 video game system.
02:05:53
Speaker
Which if you remember the 5200 and you're listening to this podcast, you're old. Sorry to say it's like we were talking about 30 being old. Now you're fucking in the 40s there. You're old. Wasn't that when like no, you game came out and they had like a brilliant copry. Oh, yeah, that they burned in a land. Yeah. Yeah. Everyone's like, oh, it is great. No, that's garbage. Yeah. The game is garbage movies. Movie is a cinematic masterpiece.
02:06:21
Speaker
Yeah, the movie's not that bad except for like that one finger toy at the head. Oh, you don't know this. They had a they had a toy that was like E.T.'s finger, you know, the whole phone home thing. Yeah. Had a little light at the end. And if I'm not mistaken, it also like.
02:06:44
Speaker
Don't quote on me because I don't know. I believe it vibrated too. And there was like a massive recall on it because it was like totally inappropriate.
02:06:55
Speaker
Oh, I have so many jokes I could make right now. It's like it's like they did with when Harry Potter first came out and they had like the Nimitz 2000 broomstick and they like it was the actual broomstick from the movie. They recalled it because, you know, and it was inappropriate for children.
02:07:16
Speaker
A lot of people had a sexual awakening in those eras. Yes. Unlike the soccer boppers where you just like gave your brother a black eye. You know, it's fine. You're fucking 90s wild. Yeah. 90s toy companies. Black guys. AOK. Sexual awakenings. Nope. No, no, no. You get that from anime. They're like, no, it's not going to be us fans. Sailor Moon's got us covered.
02:07:44
Speaker
Oh, listen, Sailor Moon wasn't it for me. Nightwalker on the other end. Nightwalker, the midnight detective and the vampire detective. I was 13 when I saw it. I'm like, I like vampires. All of a sudden, I like vampires. I kept getting it every time we would go to Black Buster. I was like, rated M. I would pass it off to my mom. I'm like, uh-huh. She was like, you've seen this. I'm like, uh-huh. M? It's like a beautiful. There's something about the moe-style anime.
02:08:13
Speaker
where it's the design, it's the softness of the colors, it's the way it looks. You're like, damn, I want to be a sailor scout. May 26, 1984, in Houston, Texas, 14 top scorers from 14 regions of the United States competed in the grand national finals of Konami's track and field arcade game. The top three would play in Japan in June against Japan's top three players.
02:08:44
Speaker
And on June 1st in 1998, Nintendo released the Game Boy Camera and Game Boy Printer in the U.S. Oh, I remember that. That was a lot of fun. Very small. Pictures were terrible. Oh, yeah. Yeah, they were. Yeah. As for some games, they're celebrating some birthdays upcoming. First, Minecraft. Shout out to Minecraft. Minecraft turned 15 years old.
02:09:13
Speaker
No, no, that can't be right.
02:09:15
Speaker
No, it did. It did. They're actually doing huge celebrations with the game right now, adding some new things, doing some sales with the game stuff. So, yeah, it's 15 years old. Jesus. As for some other games to make you all feel old, on May 22nd to May 22nd, Perfect Dark turns 24. Also on May 22nd, Odin Sphere turns 17.
02:09:43
Speaker
May 23rd, Fire Emblem, The Sacred Stones in North America turns 19. It turns 20 in Japan because that's when it was actually released. Also on May 23rd, Super Mario Galaxy 2 turns 14. That's a good game. It is. It is great. I'm still a bit more biased towards the first one, but I do enjoy Mario Galaxy 2 as well.
02:10:12
Speaker
Uh, may 24th dirt three turns 14 years. Uh, sorry. 13 years old. Uh, may 25th Mario versus Donkey Kong. The original one turns 20. Uh, yeah. And may 29th Mario party eight turns 17. Oh, I love out of all the Mario party games, like,
02:10:41
Speaker
Nothing will be the classic, but I feel like the third one's the best. I never played the original three. Like the most experience I have with the original three is the newest Mario Party game on the switch. But the superstar one. Yeah. Mario Party is all the games. Yeah. Honestly, I feel like that is a really, really great concept for a game where you have a series
02:11:08
Speaker
that takes all the mini games or all the games from the previous ones and mashes it into one. Because then you can not only relive your childhood, but also it just looks better. My favorite was there's this little Shy Guy game where you're supposed to rotate the joystick really, really fast.
02:11:31
Speaker
and doing it on the 64 with how weird the controller is, you almost have to like brace it between your knees to like really get it going.
02:11:38
Speaker
And now when you do it for the superstar, it has a little Papa boarding. That's like, Hey, don't go like crazy violent on your joystick. Like you really don't get injured. Like that one video. No, ignore the warning. Don't cause yourself to get injured. Like the tug of war main game did with the first Mario Hardy game. Please don't do that to us. Like we, we learned from back in the day, if you didn't have an imprint on your hand, you're not playing games.
02:12:08
Speaker
You got safety stuff on like all the little knobs and you can't like grind your hand into it. It's not the same. In my opinion, I think Mario Party 6 is the best Mario Party game there is. I don't think I played that one. It's a solid one. The GameCube era, like the four GameCube era GameCube Mario Party games, I rank it as six, seven, four and five for like best to worst.
02:12:37
Speaker
Isn't, uh, wasn't that the one with the microphone? Uh, six and seven had microphone. Yeah. That's a weird concept. The game game microphone was a weird concept. Uh, the fact that there's an entire game based around it called Odama, which is pinball, but you also control an army with the microphone is very weird.
02:12:57
Speaker
I feel like that goes back to like the one game on the 64 of like Hey You Pikachu. Hey You Pikachu. Pikachu. If you pick up Nintendo dogs and you're screaming the dog's name and the dog just looks at you like hi. You're like just I name you biscuit.
02:13:20
Speaker
But I just come here. Yeah, exactly. Moving on to our next segment in the bonus level is top five, where I give the guest a list that they have to fill out. And I play a lot of you play a lot of played up carrots, as I've noticed. So I can't do SCP containment anymore, but I got played up. It's the new SCP. I'm drinking so many people. So what are the top five played up dishes?
02:13:49
Speaker
Oh, OK. Are we counting all the mods that I have? Yes, I will. I will. I will. Absolutely. Because I use them to. Am I. Does this include somebody with me or is this like a solo play? It can include people with you. OK, personally, the ones that I like doing the most is
02:14:11
Speaker
The pizza, I personally love pizza, cheese pizza. Cheese and mushroom pizza have always been my favorite. So I'm gonna be biased pizza number one. Turkey is also really good whether you have somebody with you or not, you get like four portions there, you just gotta deal with the carcass. One of the mods that I really like is the sweets where you do candy, cotton candy, lollipop, that can get a little bit crazy depending on what you do.
02:14:39
Speaker
There's also like caramel apples to that. I also really like running around and doing the coffee. You could get you can the coffee. OK, crazy coffee story I have, because this whole past week was Chef Tony week where he played some cooking games. So day one, me and my boy Mack Ryan Mack were the first two that were the two and they were ready for a few others. But I'm like, let's do let's just do a round, see how far we get. And I'm like, let's see. The most reasonable thing we have here is coffee. So let's give that a try.
02:15:08
Speaker
And I kid you not, it was the fucking best run of played up I have ever had in the whole time I played that game where we actually went five days overtime. Because you you don't get a lot of money with coffee. You really don't. But once you get going, you could like you could, as I say, you could like really break the game.
02:15:27
Speaker
Yeah, no, coffee is a fan, is a fantastic one to have. If you want, uh, survival, survivability wise, if you play your cards right on tables and equipment, it is probably one of the best survivability options out there.
02:15:43
Speaker
Oh yeah. The one, uh, the one that I don't like is when that adds like affogatos cause then it's like, no, I'm done. Yeah. If it's one of those double brew or 50% chance of spilling, I'm out skip the run. I don't care if it's day four, I'm out.
02:16:01
Speaker
The one I really like doing with friends has to be like burgers. You can't go wrong with like a good burger. You can't. No. And like a burger with cheese. Like that's all you need. Anything else? No, it's too much. Good old, good old beef burgers.
02:16:18
Speaker
Good on bees triggers. All right. Well, that's top five. We now move on to head to head where I put two games head to head and you have to decide which one wins. And so looking again, because this was the first this is like the first time you and I have ever really met aside from me lurking in your streams here and there.
02:16:38
Speaker
Just to try to get some to figure you out, figure out what what makes you tick. A lot of things. The two games I have put for you that go head to head are Cult of the Lamb and Enter the Gungeon. Oh, personally, see, if I'm playing with somebody else, I really like Enter the Gungeon only because I like playing player two.
02:17:09
Speaker
And with player two, you get to be the cultist and the cultist. I like to call pillowcase because they look like a pillowcase and they have a friendship cookie. So they can bring somebody to get back, but like nobody will talk to them. And they're just so cute. But truth be told, I like called the lamb more because not only do you have, uh, like little animals that you can turn into your friends.
02:17:36
Speaker
but the Twitch integration for that is a lot of fun because you can have everybody in your chat fighting to like join your cult and then bitch and complain when they die. And then beg you to be resurrected and you're like, listen, I can't, I just, I don't have enough for you. I'm just going to put you in the dirt and like feed you to other people. Oh,
02:17:58
Speaker
and with the new update they they have like Cult of the Lamb also has like more updates to it compared to Enter the Gungeon like with the new like uh sex and one and uh like listen sex holding hands before marriage okay but
02:18:19
Speaker
I really prefer the design, the layout, the color, the sound. There's no flashing lights in Call of the Lambs, so I can literally just play there for hours and not be affected. And also, there's something cute about running around as a little lamb with like a little bell on you and just jingles when you walk.
02:18:40
Speaker
Fair enough. The only thing that I will never understand is people taking massive shits behind my church. And I can assure you, we have a fucking bathroom and an assigned a go piss girl station. Okay. Complete with porter parties and beautiful glass, like windows and fountains for you to wash your hands and offering areas for you to like pay the toll.
02:19:05
Speaker
But no, the fact that you shit behind my church pisses me off. That was actually the running joke on my channel of people when I first don't call the lamb because everybody just kept shitting behind the church. So that became a thing where we just shit behind the church and we shit in the confessional booth. And I'm like, fuckers, we have a bathroom.
02:19:30
Speaker
It's like go into the mall and going into a dressing room and be like there's no toilet paper here and then you sleep Well, okay then
02:19:37
Speaker
Just just confuse the work. Just confuse them. Exactly. Moving on to the next one, Tony's game poll. This is a game poll that we have every season. Going forward, we ask one question all season long and we'll figure out what the most voted for answer is within the topic.

Future of Gaming and Episode Closure

02:19:55
Speaker
And this this season's poll of Kingdom Hearts four was to add another Disney Pixar world that they haven't added before. What world would you like to see?
02:20:05
Speaker
Oh, so I played Kingdom Hearts two. I have not played three. I think four, they're making a movie. I actually thought about this. There's rumors there's going to be a movie. Rumors that there's a movie going to be in the works. So there's I'm a huge Disney fan, Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, those type of animations.
02:20:29
Speaker
I feel like and I feel like this is gonna be like a big big hit big like spicy topic here I don't know if you've seen the new movie wish I Haven't but I also just don't go watch movies and theaters anymore. Well If you have if you have like voodoo, uh, you can buy movies that way you usually get them for pretty cheap now I
02:20:57
Speaker
There was a big discussion with Wish with a lot of the songs being created by like AI and the flow of the movie for the first half of it is really good. Like the concept of a sorcerer keeping everybody's wishes, granting them as he pleases,
02:21:17
Speaker
and like running this whole city and the main protagonist making a wish upon the star and her wish actually coming true to where she's helping everybody. The end of the movie, don't care. Really don't care. There's only like a few good, good parts in the movie.
02:21:36
Speaker
But I feel like if they change just a couple of things about that, they could add that in Kingdom Hearts, because by the end of the movie, you learn where the Blue Fairy starts and where magic starts. Oh, so I feel like that would be a little bit interesting to add into Kingdom Hearts, because truth be told, do they ever explain where the magic come from? Ah.
02:22:07
Speaker
The crystals. Yeah, see. Light and darkness. Final fantasy. Oh, yeah. Final fantasy. Yeah, yeah. They got a lot of final fantasy. But evil final fantasy. Where does the magic come from? Yeah, no, it's I don't think they really ever explain it. Either that or I think it'd be really cool to. I don't I don't know if they did like a Sleeping Beauty one. Oh, they did. Sleeping Beauty was in Birth by Sleep.
02:22:38
Speaker
That that are they can do. I think it'd be cute to do like a princess of the frog one. That would be a good one, too. I feel like they don't get that one doesn't get a lot of like recognition, but this they did make a princess in the frog ride. So yeah, they did. It looks really cool with it with the animatronics that they have for it. Yeah, isn't it? That's what's replacing Splash Mountain. Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
02:23:07
Speaker
Though I think I would rather go to like Tokyo, Disney, because they have a Frozen one. Oh, yeah, I saw the videos coming out from that. And they have a Tinkerbell one. I'm a huge Tinkerbell fan. Nice. I lost my mind when I saw it. I'm like, oh, let's go. Drops everything, books flight to Japan. Later, guys.
02:23:35
Speaker
Moving on to the next thing, your Deals of the Week. Not a lot. Devolver's having their 15th year anniversary sale. So that's going until the middle of the week right now. And also your Epic Free Game until May 23rd is Dragon Age Inquisition. Game of the Year edition. So grab that on the Epic Game Store for free.
02:24:01
Speaker
The achievement of the week is in Little City, Little Kitty, Big City. It's dumpster diving, which is to investigate 10 trash cans. And that game of the week is Paper Mario, The Thousand Year Door remake for the switch. And lastly, our guest game recommendation carrots. If there is one game old or new that you would recommend to the listeners of this episode, what game would that be? Oh, that is a hard one. Oh, that is a hard one. Um,
02:24:32
Speaker
So for any system out there, if anybody has a Wii, I would highly recommend Wario Smooth Moves because it is one of those get up on your feet type of games. And I feel like with the actions that you have to do to really work like the Wiimote,
02:24:58
Speaker
Like it's a full body workout. Truth be told, it does so much better than ring fit, which I have ring fit. Ring fit five minutes in is too much. And that's like a 20 minute workout, but smooth moves. Like it has an endless mode where you could be working out and you could just be sweating and it feels a lot more fun.
02:25:27
Speaker
They have one for the switch, which isn't as good. But I would highly recommend just getting your Wii, getting that and just working out for like as long as you can go. All right. Well, with that, that is that's it for this week. Another episode in the books. Carrots, thank you for coming on today.
02:25:56
Speaker
Oh, thanks for having me. Honestly, all praise to Mello for like taking down your door and be like, I didn't want carrots. And I'm like, what's going on? I mean, the corner drinking my soup, like with a fork. Yeah, fork soup. Yummy. No one can judge me. It's my fork. OK, where do we find you on the Internet?
02:26:22
Speaker
So I do Twitch. I have a YouTube channel. I have a TikTok. I have a Twitter. It's all under Carrots Night or Carrots Z Night. It's a little play on words I have. But I also have a merch line, also under the same name. Listen, I'm trying to get everywhere at this point.
02:26:44
Speaker
