Mr. Pop.
00:01:08
Speaker
all right waiting and on Oh my goodness, we are fucking back. not know the length way It's one what months, like no, 11 months later and we're back for the second episode of 2020. Uh, in all seriousness though, um, it was a good, nice, long break. Um, talking to myself,
00:01:37
Speaker
into a microphone is I enjoy it because I can talk about whatever the hell I want to walk, whatever the hell I want to talk about. However, uh, coming up with ideas and not having anybody to bounce off of can be a little frustrating sometimes. So I'm going to keep running with it though. I've been hanging out with some, some more coaster friends and I've been wanting to, to get back into recording. So, um, yeah, this'll be, this'll be, uh, this'll be a good time.
00:02:08
Speaker
So welcome back to the single

Coaster Off-Season Reflections

00:02:10
Speaker
rider line. Good to have you guys back. Good to have you all here as we're entering into the dreaded off season of the roller coaster community. A time where depression and sadness runs rampant as it is no longer warm outside here in the northern hemisphere. Cold, dark times where Coasters are not open. Okay northern hemisphere if you live anywhere north of Kentucky um You know everybody down south is lucky because of their parks. They open all year round so Go fuck you guys because I'm jealous um And the best way to deal with jealousy is by projecting it onto others um Not really obviously, but I did at least one of them
00:03:07
Speaker
start this off with a good joke. So how you guys been doing? Hopefully, hopefully you've been doing good. Hopefully you've had some good, and some good trips this summer. I've had a number of which I was kind of thinking of which one do I start with because I could start with my New York trip.

Holiday World Visit Highlights

00:03:30
Speaker
That was pretty good. However, yesterday, well, I guess technically two date days ago now,
00:03:36
Speaker
I'm recording this at 12 44 AM on October 29th of 24. And on Sunday I was at holiday world for the first time ever on their closing day. It was a good time. You know what? Since, since we're on the topic, well, you know what? Let's just go through both. We haven't been back in forever. So we're going to go, we're going to go through both. So we'll start with,
00:04:05
Speaker
We start with holiday world since that's the freshest. I was there. On Sunday. October 27th, 2024. That's a great park, man. It's. I'm so used to corporate parks or Cedar Fair or Six Flags in this case now. With Cedar Point, Kings Island is my home park.
00:04:31
Speaker
um you know, carowinds, just the parks i I tend to frequent, even places like Dollywood. Um, Dollywood's a nice park, but it's also a corporate park owned by good old Hershand. So going to the middle of nowhere, Indiana to go to an amusement park for, and then I get there and I didn't know they had free parking. So they have free parking there. That's nice.
00:05:00
Speaker
Um, tickets were cheap, granted it was closing day, but still there were only 45 bucks, uh, after tax. So that's not bad in the slightest. Um, free soft drinks for every guest. You don't have to buy a pass. You don't have to do anything. Just free soft drinks. Um, their food prices there are incredibly reasonable. I mean,
00:05:29
Speaker
It for amusement parks, I should say anyways. It's not going to be the cheapest thing in the world, obviously, because, you know, they got to make money somehow, but still incredibly reasonable food prices. Their merchandise prices are incredibly reasonable. bull Every single shirt I saw there, $20, full price, $20. Um, that doesn't count the stuff that was on sale either for 12, 13, $14, you know,
00:05:58
Speaker
20 bucks. That's it. So I got myself two shirts. I got myself a good gravy shirt and I got myself just a traditional, traditional holiday world shirt. I was thinking a quick sip of my Coca-Cola zero sugar. Thanks for the sponsorship Coke. We appreciate it here at the single rider line. Um, obviously not actually sponsored, but,
00:06:29
Speaker
All right, that was pretty good. My mouth was a little dry. Had to wet the tongue or that sounded kind of inappropriate. ah not that That's ever bothered me on this podcast. But what would be the correct word? Loosen the vocals. I don't know. But yeah, pricing there incredibly, incredibly good. but Also, for those of you who don't know me personally,
00:06:58
Speaker
fun fact about lance um I have what is called celiac disease so I'm one of those people that has to eat gluten free because otherwise it will kill me um essentially what it does is if I eat gluten or wheat um then my body can't process it properly and it destroys the lining in my intestines that lets me absorb nutrients from food. So if I were to eat enough bread, ah you know, whatever, um then eventually my intestines would be so fucked up that I could eat as much food as I wanted and I would die of starvation because my body can't absorb it.
00:07:56
Speaker
It would just pass through me and do absolutely nothing. So.
00:08:03
Speaker
Having Cook probably wasn't a good idea, because now I now I might burp. That's I don't want to have to edit that out. It's a little gross. But anyways, Holiday World has so, so, so many gluten-free options compared to places like Kings Island and Cedar Point. Not saying that they don't have gluten-free options, however, they are few and far between. Holiday world, gluten-free funnel cake, which is, for those of you who are not familiar with how hard it is to find gluten-free food, gluten-free funnel cake is unheard of. You never, never
00:08:44
Speaker
here of gluten free funnel cake. If you want to get gluten free funnel cake, you got to go to a specialty place. And those exist.
00:08:55
Speaker
I live in Dayton and I cannot find a single bakery in the general area of Dayton, Cincinnati um or Columbus that does gluten free funnel cakes. So gluten free funnel cake, gluten free pizza,
00:09:15
Speaker
That's far more common to find. Majority of places have that, but still, I'm glad they have it. Gluten-free pretzel bites, which is also unheard of. Gluten-free pretzels are pretty easy to find. You can find those in a majority of of stories. You can go to you can go to Walmart and buy some gluten-free pretzels. Gluten-free pretzel bites?
00:09:35
Speaker
Absolutely not. You are not finding gluten-free pretzel bites anywhere, um but holiday world, for some mysterious reason has gluten-free pretzel bites. I am not complaining in the slightest. Those were pretty damn good. Gluten-free burger buns so that I can actually have a burger and I don't have to say, yeah, hold the bun and give me a fork and a knife so I can cut it like it's a salad. No, I can have an actual burger. um Those are also becoming a bit more common. Shout outs.
00:10:12
Speaker
Shoutouts to Chick-fil-A and to Culver's for having gluten-free burger buns ah Wendy's McDonald's Burger King ah ah Go fuck yourselves Come on guys, it's not that hard. They're like specialty packaged so you don't have to worry that much about cross-contamination Do what Domino's does Domino's has gluten-free pizza and just say It's gluten-free, but we can't guarantee it's gluten-free. We can't guarantee there's no cross-contamination. Just do that so then you can't get sued and give me gluten-free buns. Please, I will pay extra for it. I will gladly pay two to three dollars extra for a gluten-free bun. Just give me the option, please. So, Holiday World, kick an ass in the food department for
00:11:08
Speaker
us gluten folk. um As far as traditional food goes, like just overall food quality, quality was all right. It's it's about what you expect out of amusement park food. um My only gripe with it is the like they have a lot of options for us gluten-free people. However, um options as far as like what you can get um is is pretty limited, at least from what I saw.
00:11:36
Speaker
it was closing day. So, you know, maybe that that affected things. It definitely did. Now that I think about it, but, um, yeah, while I was there options wise for majority of guests was relatively small, but again, closing day. So that probably makes a big difference. Um, coasters, I've been talking about food this whole time and I haven't even gotten to the coasters.

Coaster Experiences and Comparison

00:12:02
Speaker
Well, I'll start off, I walked in and there had a sign up saying that the legend was going to be closed all day that day, which kind of made me sad because I was hoping to hit just everything there. They only have five coasters. So what being down one is a massive blow. It's not like and this is a mega park where one coaster being down. It's like, ah yeah, you know, that sucks. But it's not the end of the world. um It wasn't the end of the world here, but I still wanted to get the credit and
00:12:33
Speaker
Now I have to go back, but I don't know when that's going to happen. They'd have to get something new and considering they just got good gravy, I have a feeling it's going to be a hot second before they get another coaster.
00:12:46
Speaker
um So walked into the park. Got there prior to rope drop, so I waited at the ropes for a bit. um Rope drop happens and I booked it booked it over to good gravy.
00:13:02
Speaker
Um, because that's a one train coaster. I knew that it was a Sunday, probably going to be a lot of kids. Uh, so I'm going to get the credit, get off and go. Uh, that was, that was a pretty good coaster. A cute little, cute little coaster for the family. The queue is very well done. Mad respect for, for the holiday world team for getting that up and going and looking as good as it does. There's so much detail in it that wasn't necessary. like they they've They understood the assignment. They understood that this is kind of a like kind of a dumb concept and they're playing into it. They're playing into the joke. It's great. So you know you've got the moving pictures there or the TVs that have a picture frame around them. So it looks like it's a moving picture.
00:14:00
Speaker
you got grandma and grandpa talking about. Going to make more gravy um and how they're out of gravy, so. You go through, there's a there's a kitchen in there with a whole bunch of stuff set up, obviously not a real one, just for props, but. And then you get into the station. Station isn't anything super, super special. um You get into your gravy boat.
00:14:29
Speaker
As it's ah as it's called, I didn't even know that's what they were called until they announced until they until the announcement trailer. um Back on the topic of food, ah gravy actually has wheat in it. A majority of the time it's used as a thickening agent. So gluten free gravy, ah not too common for me. um You know, it's ah it's a Vekoma family boomerang. It's a good time. You know, you can't really you can't really go wrong with those things.
00:14:58
Speaker
um You go through all the all the kitchen elements and that sort of thing. I know that was a custom layout for.
00:15:09
Speaker
For that ah for that boomerang, but I still prefer the the cookie cutter one that Kings Island got this year with soapbox racers. um It's just a bit more. It's a tighter layout and the turns are taking a bit tighter while good gravy is very like stretched out.
00:15:27
Speaker
Uh, not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just that, uh, it's a bit more intense on Snoopy. Not that, so not that, you know, it's designed to be intense or anything or that it's an super intense coaster. but It's just got a bit more forces going on. Good gravy. You kind of just meander through it, um, unlike the other ones. So overall good coaster though. Still good enough to but get me to buy a shirt.
00:15:56
Speaker
um And I also just like that. It's a ridiculous concept. So that makes it more fun as well Got off of good gravy went on over to the voyage um Got a back row ride and I don't understand why That the voyage and the bees get compared so often um I didn't get a voyage or night ride while I was there because they were only open until five. But I can see immediately that the voyage is a far superior coaster and night ride compared to the Beast. The Beast is longer. The Beast has more track. um However, the voyage and its layout
00:16:53
Speaker
kicks ass. That is an amazing layout. It does not let up whatsoever. Um, I'm not trying to downplay beast night rides. I absolutely love beast night rides. They're so good. However, I do need to get back to holiday world to get a voyage night ride at some point. I know Hollywood nights. Everybody loves Hollywood nights. I still need to get out there at some point, but God, that layout is so good. It keeps going and going and going and going. It just does not end. Even whenever you even with the trims on, because the trims were on while I was there on the mid course, it doesn't. It's so little of a slow up. It doesn't make that big a difference. It's a five, not even five seconds. It's a two second break.
00:17:49
Speaker
to, and it like gives gives you a breather almost before the second half of the coaster. Cause this thing is hauling ass through its layout every single time. And it was, it wasn't the warmest of days. I mean, it was 50 ish degrees or so 50, 55, 60, probably whenever I was riding it. Um, but man, this thing was flying. It was in the morning too. It was probably within the, it was within the first 15 minutes of the park opening.
00:18:18
Speaker
because again I did rope drop so you know everything was ah was just getting started up for the day but man Beast has been knocked off its throne in my opinion for I don't know what throne it was sitting on best wooden coaster I don't think it was the best wooden coaster but between the two yeah there we go between the two voyage is amazing. like um Voyage very well may be my best wooden, my favorite wooden coaster now. I have to think about that. Mystic is still pretty good, but that's really short. Thunderhead is really good.
00:19:05
Speaker
Altoro is great, but it needs some serious track work. That thing beat the shit out of me. um
00:19:14
Speaker
i I'm probably going to have to say the voyage is my favorite wooden coaster now. It was so, so, so good. And I just can't say that enough. I know you hear ever every enthusiast and their mom talking about all the voyage is way better than the beast. It's the best wooden wooden coaster night ride. ah You know, what I'm part of that group now. Just just straight up. I'm part of that group, so.
00:19:41
Speaker
Like it or not, I'm now one of the annoying annoying enthusiasts that won't shut the fuck off about that coaster. So. um Got off the voyage, went over to ah Thunderbird. I was really excited to ride a launched wing coaster because that's the only one in the in North America, I believe. So. Hopped on that, waited for front row.
00:20:11
Speaker
That's a really nice wing coaster. It's ah not I don't think it's the best wing coaster in the country, but I do think it's number two. I think it is just a touch behind the gatekeeper. If I had to do my rankings, I'd say gatekeeper Thunderhead or Thunderhead God ah Thunderbird and then X-Flight and then. ah Wild Eagle trying to think of if I've been on anymore.
00:20:40
Speaker
No, that's yeah, that's it. But um it's just a touch too short. It has a lot of momentum going into the brake run, and it could have used that for probably another element or two, but really well put together. I love the launch launch is pretty punchy. It's ah it's an LSM launch, so it's not like it's. You know, the quickest thing in the world, but it's still it's still decently decent enough, you know,
00:21:09
Speaker
I think LSM launches get way too much shit for no reason. um I heard a lot of people call Copperhead Strikes launch a push rather than a launch, which I get where they're coming from. But it was, I don't know. I don't see whether I don't I don't see that. I don't see how that you would consider that a push. I mean, by definition, I guess you could consider a push. You're getting pushed by the magnetic forces, but That's. It's just not the same, you know, I think Copperheads and Thunderheads thought God, I keep saying Thunderheads. It's not Thunderhead. So Thunderbird Thunderbird Lance Thunderbird.
00:21:59
Speaker
um
00:22:02
Speaker
But I think those launches are pretty similar. I'd have to I'd have to put Thunderbird, I almost said Thunderhead again. I should put Thunderbirds ahead of Copperheads, but they're roughly the same. um The elements hold out pretty well. I love that inline twist at the end of the ride. It's a great one. um But again, just too short, too short of a coaster. Considering how expensive B and&Ms are, though, that's probably that's probably why. I mean, that's a family owned park. It's not like they have
00:22:37
Speaker
a ton of cash that they can burn on any given notice. So they probably had to cut that ride a touch short or make it a bit smaller just to stay within a reasonable budget. I mean, B and M's are, you know, anywhere from 15 to 30 million, depending on what you get. Let me see how much thunder. I said it again. Thunderbird cost.
00:23:07
Speaker
No, not the car.
00:23:12
Speaker
Thunderbird a Holiday World. Building, if this is cost, if this is even public numbers, twenty two million dollars. Twenty two million dollars. Holy shit. For a family park, that is ridiculous. So.
00:23:35
Speaker
you know, give them an extra give them an extra eight million. um And they could build a giga pre pandemic. um
00:23:48
Speaker
That's really pricey. So if if a coaster that short, we're a bit longer. My guess is. At least 28. If they wanted to add a few more elements could be wrong, but just ah just theory so.
00:24:06
Speaker
um Got off of Thunder Bird, almost said head again. God, I need to I need to work on that. Went over to Raven. Decent, decent family woody, if you would call it that. It's like a mild thrill coaster. It's ah it needs some track work is what it needs.
00:24:29
Speaker
there's a There's one spot, especially towards the end of the ride, where this thing jackhammers the shit out of you. It is so incredibly rough. um It's cool that it goes by the lake. That's really pretty, really neat. um It needs and need some track work, though. Call gravity group, get them back in here, and have them retract that coaster, because it is in desperate need of a retract.
00:24:57
Speaker
um it's It's not as bad as pre-pandemic 2019-2018 beast, but it's it's still pretty bad. um
00:25:10
Speaker
I'd say it's like Viper at ah Great America right now. It's just so, so bad. ah Overall, though, like roughness aside, it's not bad for what it is. It's a good coaster. um Not going to be winning any awards, but it's it's good for for younger for younger people and their families to to hop hop on. If they're a bit too a bit too scared of Thunderbird or or the voyage, and I don't blame them. One last thing about the voyage, the air time on that kicks ass, dude, those first two air time hills.
00:25:52
Speaker
It's like not ejector, but almost there sort of thing. I'll call it. ah How do I'll call it? ah Aggressive floater, for lack of a better word, it's like aggressive floater airtime. It's awesome. um So, yeah, that's how my rides on everything went. ah Got a funnel cake, got a burger,
00:26:20
Speaker
Uh, I got some merchandise, took it out to my car, came back in, got some rerides on everything except for, except for good gravy, because I was right. I got back to good gravy later that day. The line was full. Q was massive. It was surprisingly busy. Um, later in the day, like around two or three or so. Um, my guess is everybody just got done with church, went home and they're like, do you want to go to holiday world? Sure.
00:26:50
Speaker
So as a self-proclaimed atheist, um I don't go to church. So got to get there early. While the churchgoers are worshipping, I will be riding. For those of you who who who do believe in that, though, I know. No, i nothing towards you. That's not what I'm that's not what I'm getting at. Just making a joke. So um overall pretty good day at at holiday world but I don't really see a reason to go back uh aside from holiday uh Hollywood nights and uh for the legend so it won't be at the top of my priority list but that is my day at holiday world I said I was going to do both but I'm actually I'm actually just going to do one uh you know what no we will we will do both we will do both
00:27:49
Speaker
We'll do, we won't do New York because that's a long trip. That was seven five, no, from Wednesday through Thursday or Wednesday through Tuesday. So that was six days long trip. That's, that could have its own 45 minute segment. um We'll do, we'll do Hershey park. I went to Hershey park with my girlfriend ah back in August. It was the first week of August. Um,
00:28:14
Speaker
had some plans for Cedar Point fall through. And last minute, since I'd already taken the time off work, I was like, Hey, do you want to go? Do you want to go to Hershey Park? And she was like, Fuck it, why not? So we went to Hershey Park. First time going there as well. And it's a great that's such a good park. I've then buy it um whenever I was real young with my parents. And we never went. I don't think my parents were aware that they were roller coasters there.
00:28:49
Speaker
um But I'm glad I finally got to go back to that park 10 years later and get to ride everything. So hot take incoming. First thing we did, we got to the park.
00:29:09
Speaker
ah We were there for two days. We went to go ride Skyrush because again, nobody will shut the fuck up about Skyrush. I got its new restraints this year. I waited in line. Thankfully, the lines are pretty short for for both days there. Nothing was was too bad. Waited in line. Got in line for the back row. Got in the middle back row. That coaster is so incredibly. Overrated.
00:29:40
Speaker
I don't understand the hype. The airtime was good. I'll give it that. But it just kind of meanders. It doesn't really do anything.
00:29:52
Speaker
um
00:29:56
Speaker
It's just ejector airtime and it's a hyper I get the same. Feeling with Magnum, I think Magnum is a better coaster than the sky rushes, honestly. um Because. It's just got it just doesn't have it's like steel vengeance if you got rid of. The if it was essentially just the last airtime hills, but you kind of spread them out a little bit, you know. It doesn't do anything.
00:30:29
Speaker
it does not do anything. Anyways, i I think that Sky Rush is probably not the worst coaster at Hershey Park because Wild Mouse is pretty bad too. um I'd say it's like third to last behind Wild Mouse and Super Duper Looper.
00:30:55
Speaker
o No, we'll say fourth because I think Great Bear is just a touch under Sky Rush as well. Yeah, I'd say fourth the last. um So anyways, we went and rode Sky Rush. Complained about it for the rest of the day. um Went over to, we kind of just did our way around the park. We went over to Storm Runner.
00:31:18
Speaker
For those of you who have listened to the show before, you know how much I absolutely love hydraulic launching coasters and compressed air launch coasters. Those things are my jam. I fucking love them. um Powerful launches is what I live for on roller coasters. I don't care if they're rolling launches. I don't care if they're from a dead stop. Powerful launches is what I'm looking for.
00:31:44
Speaker
um Top thrill to its first launch does absolutely nothing for me. It's third launch after you've come down the the spike. Amazing. It's got the same exact feeling from from Storm Runner. So. Storm Runner, incredibly short, but its elements are incredibly good. It flies through them. It's such a short ride, but man, it uses.
00:32:14
Speaker
every piece of that track to the best of its ability. um
00:32:22
Speaker
I guess this is where the term size doesn't matter. It's about how you use it comes into play. ah that's That's what Stormrunner is. he may not He may not be the biggest, but he sure does know how to use it.
00:32:43
Speaker
ah I'm sorry. I'm not sorry, but I'm sorry. I'll shut up now. um Got multiple night rides on Stormrunner. It was just so good.
00:32:57
Speaker
um And the line was so short, too, since the lines but since the place was basically dead for some reason on a Friday night in early August. Don't ask me how that works. um Yeah, we just wrote it and wrote it and wrote it and wrote it. It was great. um Went over to.
00:33:19
Speaker
ah Wildcat's Revenge got a ride on that. um Not my favorite RMC in the world, but definitely up there. Uh, got a back row and a front row ride. Or did we get a front row ride? I know we got a back row ride. I'm trying to think if we did front at all. I don't, I don't remember. I remember back row though because it's, it's what you expect out of an RMC, you know, you got a near vertical drop or vertical drop. That one doesn't have a vertical, but it's close enough. Um, it's,
00:33:56
Speaker
twisty elements with ridiculous names that nobody knows how to pronounce. Um, it's just, it's just an RMC. It's an RMC. Um, it's very compact and granted, uh, wildcat was a compact GCI. I never wrote the original wildcat unfortunately. So I can't really compare it to the old one. Not that they were really comparable in the first place. You can't compare RMCs to their,
00:34:26
Speaker
former to their former coasters but the the one thing that I especially remember with that is not really the right the ride layout but Flying into the brakes. I don't know what they were on whenever they built that but oh my god, does it destroy your thighs and whenever you slam into the brakes on wildcats revenge. It's so painful.
00:34:56
Speaker
It's such a good ride. And then you hit the brakes and it's like a gut punch almost. I should say it's not i okay. I should say your thighs, your pelvic. There you go. Just your pelvic area just gets beat into oblivion by the break run and break run transition. It's, it's kind of brutal. It's not awful. It's just like, man, that kind of hurts. You know, maybe, maybe I'm too much of a wuss, but that's just, just my experience and, and my girlfriends as well. We both like kind of did the whole ah thing. You know, whenever you,
00:35:43
Speaker
Get attacked there or what's not attacked? What the fuck am I thinking just hit there in general attacked? Yeah, I got attacked by a roller coaster guys So overall though great coaster we wrote on multiple times as well just the brake run man yikes um That seems to be happening with a lot of modern RMC sets how it was on Airy force one those last bunny hills into the brake run and Same thing. The the bunny hills destroy your thighs, and then the brake run destroys your pelvic. I don't know if RMC is into that sort of thing. I don't know if they're if they're masochists or what.
00:36:25
Speaker
um But I'm starting to get that impression. So Alan Schilke, don't put your so put your fantasies into making roller coasters.
00:36:40
Speaker
um So that was the end of our first day. We couldn't get a whole lot done because we didn't get there until probably five or so and they close at 10. Uh, we actually, we did get quite a bit done for our first day. Now I think about it. Um, it was humid as fuck there. It was probably 70 or 80% humidity. Uh, it wasn't too, too hot outside, thankfully, but, uh, again, ridiculously humid, but, uh, came back the next day around one or so we slept in.
00:37:12
Speaker
because we could. And we got the rest of everything done. Super duper looper. It had rained before we got there and the water was pooling in the train. So our shoes got soaked. um That wasn't fun. Got on Great Bear. That is such a strange invert. Great Bear is probably the strangest invert I've ever been on. It's like. You're playing roller coaster tycoon or a planet coaster and you want to build a new coaster.
00:37:43
Speaker
But you have to build around everything else just to get something to work. And you have this weird ass layout that makes no sense whatsoever. And that's essentially what Hershey Park did. It's got that like spinny first. It's got that helix on the first drop and then it goes into the first drop.
00:38:06
Speaker
Uh, before you turn into the first vertical loop, it's just built around everything. Nothing flows there. I mean, it it works, but it's very, it looks very piecemeal. You know, we, it's like, yeah, we, we can fit this. You know, they hit up B and M they're like, ah, what the fuck do you want us to do here? All right. Uh, he likes first drop. You guys cool with that? You know, Hey, Hershey, you guys.
00:38:36
Speaker
You guys fine with that? yeah Yeah, sure. Yeah, that works fine. All right, whatever. We'll build it. And they built it. And now it's just kind of there. It burns through people because it's a B and&M, but still very, very strange coaster. Not a bad one, just very odd. um Got on Great Bear, got on Wild Mouse, got on Laugh track. Oh, shit. I forgot about laugh track. God, that coaster is ass. That's not that bad, but it's just a spinning. It's a spinning family coaster. um It's OK. Got a lightning racer, both sides. I like rightlet lightning racer a lot. It's got string lights on both sides of.

Hershey Park Recap

00:39:24
Speaker
It's. ah It's got string lights on both sides of the track for both sides of the coaster.
00:39:31
Speaker
And it does some pretty neat stuff. It does some some cool lighting effects there. I do like that. um that ah What else did we get on? or what We wrote everything there. I'm trying to remember everything that is there. Yeah, we got on. We got on pretty much everything. Oh yeah, Jolly Rancher remix. The smells were pretty cool.
00:39:53
Speaker
um
00:39:56
Speaker
Yeah, just overall overall a good trip and. I won't be back there anytime soon until they get something new. I feel like I've kind of done everything. Canimodium, oh yeah, Canimodium, forgot about that. That was great as well. ah Me and my girlfriend got a picture in front of the Kisses fountain prior to prior to us leaving. It was a good time. Canimodium is a pretty good hyper. I don't think it's as good as Diamondback or as Raging Bull, but I think it gets way too much, way too much shit. And I think it's way better than the Sky Rush. I like it. It's a good time. It's got some fun colors to it. I like that every train is some form of Hershey's candy. So that's always, that's always neat. But, but yeah, overall, good park. Would recommend if you have the chance, go to Hershey. So, all right, we got some news to cover. You guys know how these work.
00:40:56
Speaker
We got quite a bit that's happened over the summer. We're not going to hit all of that right now, but we're going to hit all the big stuff that's happened as of late. So today is October 29th, 2024. What is the news for this week since we are going back to weekly recordings? Um, here's what we got going on. Uh, Kings Dominion has announced that project three Oh five will now be renamed to, um, Pantherian.

Kings Dominion Developments

00:41:26
Speaker
I think that's how you pronounce it. It's going to have orange track with black supports and it's ah it's I 305. That's that's it. That's all. They haven't said anything about the theming or anything like that. um I mean, they have it to be a part of the jungle expedition. They haven't said like what they're going to do with the station or the general area or the queue. um That's not really their main focus this year.
00:41:57
Speaker
Their main focus is Raptera, which looks awesome. The second launch wing coaster in the States, which I will definitely be going out to ride at some point next season. But. Pantherian, I don't know if you guys have seen the logo for Pantherian, but the logo looks great. The design language that they have with the whole jungle expedition area is very well put together.
00:42:22
Speaker
All of the logos fit within the area, but also fit for their specific ride. um If you go and look at the Pantherian logo, the dead space in the inns are on the inn in Pantherian. The first inn makes up the teeth for the panther in the background of the logo, which is so, so well done that Scratched an itch in my brain and I love looking at it. It's just It's so well thought out and it's clever and it looks good. I like it um So, yeah pantherian it's intimidating 305 not a whole lot's changing just colors and theme it's uh, they pulled a Rougarou, but they're not even giving it new trains So it's just gonna be I'm assuming that the trains are going to be rethemed if they did that'd be the most
00:43:20
Speaker
Six Flags pre-merger thing ever. That'd be early 2000s Six Flags level of ah level of quality.
00:43:34
Speaker
Speaking of King's Dominion, Raptera, their latest coaster coming to the park in 2025, the second launched wing coaster,
00:43:47
Speaker
If the theming that they have in the POV or in the animation is the same as what they're going to have in real life, this is going to be a pretty cool. A a pretty cool. Pretty cool ride. It looks short. I mean, it is. It's only going to have a two trains. So it's going to be 145 feet tall at its highest point on the wing over.
00:44:16
Speaker
um So the layout is going to be 0 to 65 miles per hour. You'll hit that in four seconds. You're going to go up into that 145 wing over turn to the right. You're going to drop back down. You're going to go into a dive loop. ah You're going to come back up towards the wing over and you're going to hit an S turn. That S turn I don't know if if you guys haven't seen the animation. It looks a lot like the. um Looks a lot like that turn on. Fuck, what's in that coaster? I want to say Coast Rider, but that's not it's not Coast Rider. Sea World Orlando's new B&M surf coaster.
00:45:08
Speaker
I don't know why I'm blanking on it. Yeah, that that ride. um It looks a lot like that. It's probably the same element. um Pipeline. Yes. There we go. God, I'm an idiot. um So you go to the S turn. You go into what's called a wingslide, which looks like just an overbank. It doesn't look like anything too special. And then you go into a flat spin corkscrew, which is just a corkscrew.
00:45:39
Speaker
um You go then turn into an airtime hill over the first launch. Then you go into a 360 degree Raptor roll is what they're calling it. It's a, it's a zero G roll. I mean, not a zero G roll a, uh, yeah, it is a zero G roll. Nevermind. Yeah. It's just, ah it's just a zero G roll. It's nothing. It's something special. And then you turn up into the brakes. It looks like a B and M.
00:46:10
Speaker
It looks like a safe B&M. It'll probably be a great ride. It'll probably be a fun ride. I'm going to go check it out. I like the color scheme with the teal and the, uh, what is that? Black supports. Yeah. Black supports. They look good, but, uh, it's safe, safe stuff. B and&M. I'm not, I'm not particularly nothing particularly mind blowing or ground, ground shaking. So.
00:46:40
Speaker
Uh, yeah. 145 feet tall, 65 miles per hour. Going to be 3,086 feet and a duration of 89 seconds. I think that's a little generous. Um, my guess is probably more like 60 because they probably count you dispatching from the station, sitting on the launch track and then break run all the way back into the station. Um, two trains, 20 people per train. It does have the shorter.
00:47:10
Speaker
wing coaster trains. So I'm assuming we'll find out what those trains look like at IAPA this year, or at least get to see them proper in person and hopefully sit in them because we haven't they haven't revealed what the front of them looks like. um They just have a generic design on their website as of now, just like something you'd find in Planet Coaster 2 or something.

Theme Park Gaming and Rumors

00:47:37
Speaker
Speaking of which Planet Coaster 2 That is set to be released on November 6th, 2024. I am so incredibly excited. I'll be streaming that on Twitch for a little bit. Opening opening day. um You know what? Yeah, we'll call opening day. Opening day of Planet Coaster 2, October 6th. They will be having water parks added to the game. They are redoing the roller coaster system to make it easier to work with. They're redoing the smoothing system.
00:48:09
Speaker
They're adding weather to the game. There's a whole bunch of stuff. Go check out. um
00:48:17
Speaker
Go check it out online. It looks pretty looks pretty cool. um All right, to car King King Dica. Nothing official has been announced, but the rumors are circulating that this thing is going to be gone by at the absolute latest end of next season.
00:48:38
Speaker
um earliest that it could be gone is December or sorry, uh, closing day of great adventure for 2024. Um, yeah, please for the love of God, do not, do not go anywhere. to You are the only hydraulic strata we have left.
00:49:07
Speaker
And if Cedar Fair and Tony Clark, it's not Tony. I just like blaming Tony Clark for for stuff that happens within Cedar Fair. It's funny. So if Cedar Fair and Tony Clark want to get rid of you, we got a riot. You know, we got to we got to show up to King. I will say King's Dominion. We got to show up to King Dica. We got to show up to Great Adventure. We'll do we'll like lay on the track.
00:49:36
Speaker
so that they can't they can't take it down because then it'll be. Threatening our lives or or something I don't know but go right King the cop if you can go watch a total Ryan's video he made a great breakdown of it I'm not going to get into it here because you want to explain it way better than I can. But um if you have the chance to write King the cop do it now.
00:49:58
Speaker
um with the amount of rumors going around, you know, better safe than sorry. And hey, if all of these turn out to be fake men, you got to ride King to cob bunch of times. How tragic. So fingers crossed that King to caustic surround, but I'm not going to hold my breath. um I wouldn't be surprised if this thing is is gone within within 365 days or at least announced to be gone. So we will find out sooner rather than later.
00:50:31
Speaker
Speaking of great adventure, Green Lantern is also rumored to be going with King Dica. The speculation isn't as strong, but it's definitely there. Now that the merger has happened between Six Flags and Cedar Fair, now that they're just the Six Flags Corporation, um Cedar Fair is the one running the show behind the scenes. They have 51% majority in the company, so it's not like that they're just ah so it's not like the old Six Flags is Calling all the shots here. This is ah this is definitely a Cedar Fair thing. So um I be sad if Green Lantern bites the dust at great adventure. That's a pretty shitty coaster um I will get into that trip probably next week or the week after but it's a stand-up it's a B and&M stand-up my
00:51:29
Speaker
Balls don't like it. My legs don't like it. It's ah it just sucks. It's painful. I don't want to write it. I wrote it for the credit. And if it goes, I won't shed a tear. I could care less if this thing gets removed. So.

00:51:45
Speaker
That is all of the recent news that has been happening within the past week or so. Raptor wasn't really as recent, but still something I wanted to discuss since we were talking about Pantherian.

Speaker
So I did at least want to discuss that. It feels good to be back. We got a nice, longer episode, not too terribly long, but decent enough to send us off into the new season. What is it? New season? No, we won't call it that. Just we're back. We're fucking back.
