Speaker: Oh, God. Welcome back to the Singular Rider line. my name My name is Lance. My name is Lunaris, whatever the hell you want to call me. I don't particularly care. ah Rest in peace, Skyflyer. I know we talked about this last episode, but that was my home ride.
Speaker: That was the ride I worked whenever I was a ride operator at Kings Island. And it's sad to see it go. I haven't been to the park yet this year as of recording. That will change here on ah on Friday, the 18th of April, as that is their passholder preview day. I will be there.

Speaker: ah It's sad I won't be able to work you ever again. But those are all kind of going going by the wayside in the in the Cedar Fair chain. There Six Flags chain now. God, it's... a Times are changing, man.
Speaker: things are Things are going their own way. So what they're going to replace it with, I have genuinely genuinely no idea. ah I'm guessing it may be that a family thrill ride they were talking about.
Speaker: i feel like that's probably a better better spot for something like that rather than... You know, Skyflyer. Skyflyer was very much a holdover from the Paramount era and just did not look right in the area.
Speaker: It's just a giant metal arch and you've got Bat and you've got Banshee next to it and Drop Tower and Bat and Banshee make sense next to each other. You know, kind of of spooky, spooky themed.
Speaker: Now, if we could get something that's also spooky themed over there, just redo the whole area, honestly. ah rename drop drop drop tower to i i don't know demon drop or whatever ah name whatever that family thrill ride is make it kind of spooky themed and just kind of have like a haunted section of the park all year round that'd be that'd be kind of cool don't don't have actors there all the time obviously that's that's a little out outlandish but um That'd be pretty neat.

Speaker: We are less than a week away from opening day here at here in Ohio for for our roller coaster season. I know you spoiled people over in Pennsylvania have had Hershey Park for a few weeks now.
Speaker: I know Kennywood is open. Let me see when their opening day was. Kennywood opening day.
Speaker: They opened. Okay, they just opened yesterday. Yeah, happy pretty opening day to Kennywood. ah has you Have you guys fixed your you' i your little Steelers coaster yet?
Speaker: Or is that still is that still up in the air? um but ah um Let me check real quick.

Speaker: if it is still on there.
Speaker: Is Steel Curtain still still being worked on? Click here for the most up-to-date Steel Curtain update. It says it's set to return in 2025.
Speaker: Okay, here we go. Steel Curtain update. a Steel Curtain will make its grand return this season. The work to add the additional columns to the ride is ah approximately 90% complete and the two trains have been added back on the track. Next, our team in partnership with third-party experts will begin several rounds of test runs. We expect... ah We're excited...
Speaker: God, we are excited. Our guests may even see these test runs during their first visits to the park this spring. An opening day for the ride will will be announced in the coming weeks. Okay, so it'll be it'll be reopened here soon, which is good.
Speaker: I've been wanting to go to Kennywood, and the whole only reason I didn't go is because that park is very small as is, and I'm not going to miss out on a credit unless absolutely necessary.
Speaker: So glad that'll be... That'll be reopened because I'm definitely, it's only like three hours from Dayton. So make it, do like a two day thing or do like a one day, like ah like rope drop Kennywood and then hop on over to Cedar Point once you've hit all your ah your credits, I feel like.
Speaker: Is that a good idea or no? I just throwing shit at the wall? That's kind of the whole Midwest or um just the whole Eastern half of the United States starting to get into opening day season.
Speaker: 2025 has got the green flag or the 2025 coaster season has the green flag. And ah we're off and running here shortly. but Let me see.
Speaker: I've done no research prior going in to going going into this episode. God, I can't talk right now. I've found that ah people seem to like whenever I do things on the fly. At least that's what I have been told.
Speaker: And, ah you know, if people if people like that, then... Hell yeah. um ah So Great Adventure had their opening day. know Flash had

Speaker: I feel like I should really come more prepared to these, but I also know.

Speaker: boomerang to a park that gets ridiculous attendance and is you know 45 minutes outside of new york city ah why is my question i mean it looks good i'll give him that but i think that this park deserved something far better than then ah this not far better than a clone just give them even if it's only two trains give them a two train Vekoma, ground up Vekoma, launched, and you will be you'll be all good.
Speaker: You don't have to worry about it. just I still don't understand this. i also think it's strange that they're still using the promotional pictures that they had prior to the ride opening. The CG, yeah, there we go.
Speaker: They're still using the CG ones instead of actual pictures of the ride.
Speaker: Even though they already exists so uh i don't know i don't uh i don't make that call but congrats great adventure on your opening day i hope that uh i'm curious to see what your guys's past sales are going to be like for this year because i bet they're going to be fucking awful now that you've taken out uh not all of your coasters but it sure does feel like it's sometimes you know the whole implosion and all that
Speaker: Are we allowed to talk about that? I don't know. um So Kennywood had its opening day. Great Adventure has its opening day. Kings Islands is this upcoming Saturday, ah Friday, if you're a pass holder. They got their racing water coaster coming, if I believe.
Speaker: First Soak City.
Speaker: Kings Island water coaster. There we go. It's just called River Racers. It looks okay. It looks not too bad.
Speaker: I'm looking at the promotional pictures for it and it's ah like they did a really shitty job with like adding one of these tubes onto the, I mean, not that it's a, not that it matters, but
Speaker: Yeah, they just didn't do a very good job with it. But yeah, that'll be opening later this summer with Soak City and the water park. That opens... They didn't give ah an official opening date. They just gave a They just said summer 2025.
Speaker: My guess is that it will open with Soak City. I'd be surprised if it didn't. But we will... We will see.
Speaker: So King's Island, it's got there. we're just Is this just going to turn into a recap of like what's opening this year? Fuck it. Why not? ah Cedar Point, Siren's Curse.
Speaker: That's not opening until summer as well. No date given as of now.
Speaker: But I think it's interesting that the, if you look, the they use the same technique for Photoshopping people's faces onto the the CG characters on um both Cedar Point and Six Flags' website.
Speaker: It's like kind of really bad looking if you look too closely. You can tell they did this like kind of on whim. This lady's... Okay, for those of you who have access to Your Front website right now, go to their website, go on the front page.
Speaker: There's a lady sitting on the right side of the train She has brown hair. Her face is like very clearly just a JPEG.
Speaker: Just moved over top of the of the CG character's face. That's all of them actually. They're all just JPEGs with drop shadows on them.
Speaker: that's kind of That's kind of hilarious. I'm not going to lie. um Regardless though, I've been keeping track of the Siren's Curse. ah construction It's coming along pretty nicely.
Speaker: ah Been told some stuff that I won't share about the construction and the tunnel that apparently isn't going as smoothly as they would like. But, you know, well I'll leave it at that because I don't want to get any trouble anybody in trouble and I won't i won't drop names. So,
Speaker: um but we should be we should be good so uh siren's curse excited to have another coaster coming to cedar point as if they needed another i will still it die on this hill that this should have been sent to king's island and i know that they don't have a super flat plot of land at king's island you can make it fucking work come on guys just fabricate some more supports And you don't have to worry about it.
Speaker: it's This would take an extra three months of work to survey the land and you know get it get it done. This would be a million times better at Kings Island than here.
Speaker: Because they already have a dive coaster. They already have so many things that ah move or that goes to 90 degrees or beyond. so But regardless, that point is mute.
Speaker: the What's happening happening is happening. And we're getting a tilt coaster at Cedar Point.
Speaker: Cedar Point capped off. What else is new? We've got... Isn't there that straddle coaster coming to Six Flags America?

Speaker: ah don't, I don't know. Or is it Six Flags New England?
Speaker: It's the new Intamin one.
Speaker: You know what talking about. Six Flags New England. Yeah, here we go. Quantum Accelerator. The Intamin family straddle coaster.
Speaker: It's the same shit with the pictures. It's just like... This one's even worse, though. They don't even have CG models. It's just... Okay, there is some CG models.
Speaker: But they're just... It's like they took people to jump. They took a JPEG of people jumping and just threw it on where the train is. And then there's one... It's not even a guy jumping. It's just like him with his hands in his pockets looking down.
Speaker: This is so bad.
Speaker: not. Oh, this is hilarious, dude.
Speaker: if you want a good time 11 o'clock at night on a sunday just go look at promotional images for new coasters for 2025 this is this is this is something dude so uh you got a double launch it's only 30 miles an hour they're sorry 45 miles an hour um nothing uh nothing super special, but I'm glad they're getting something new. They haven't gotten something new in forever and they, they could definitely use it more than some other parks in, in, in the chain.
Speaker: So, uh, am I forgetting anything? Is Leron getting anything? I don't believe they are.
Speaker: Is LeRond getting anything new? No. No, they are not. Okay. What is getting something new is Canada's Wonderland.
Speaker: Alpenfury.
Speaker: i am super excited for this coaster. I've been looking forward to this for for quite a while. The construction is coming along pretty good. Hopefully open by they They typically don't have their coasters open by opening day. Within the first couple days or a couple first couple weeks of opening day would be pretty good, guys.
Speaker: This layout looks awesome. They have it done really, really well. And it just kind of floats over over pathways and through the old Skyflyer plot.
Speaker: ah Speaking of which, there's an inversion on this thing because they used to have a ah Skyflyer there as well. Also a Skycoaster. a sky coaster model and they have an inversion called the sky flyer it's called the sky flyer loop i don't know but it looks like the treble clef element on fury but if you turned the top of the treble clef like once you crest it you turned it into an inversion that's essentially what this is i'm super excited for that inversion that looks wild premiere is it premiere is cooking up something good and
Speaker: And I have a feeling this is probably going to win a bunch of awards for best new coaster and and all that shit. But this thing, hell yeah. good Good job, Canada's Wonderland. This is looking beautiful.
Speaker: um I'll be there in late July, early August. So that will be, I'm sure you guys will get a live trip report then. Speaking of live trip reports, okay, two things left actually.
Speaker: Live trip report. I will be at Kings Island this ah ah at king's island this Saturday. or sorry, this Friday. I'll be doing a live trip report there.
Speaker: ah short little episode. So you guys will see that probably Saturday night, I think. um Or Saturday morning. One of the two. And then for those of you, for some reason, who have been living under a rock We are doing a meetup. I've been talking about this on social media for forever now.
Speaker: But we are doing a meetup later this year. August 13th through the 18th. That's a Thursday through a Monday. You don't have to attend all the days. But if you want to come to Ohio and head to Kings Island and head to Cedar Point with us, this is the time to do it. We already have three people going.
Speaker: um Group housing is available. So if you don't want to spend a ton of money on... you know, getting Airbnbs and that sort of thing, and you want to split the cost, this is your chance to do so. So, um, I will put the link in the description of this, or just go over to my Twitter and get the form filled out. Even if you're not staying in group housing, please fill this out so that I can get a head count on how many people are going.
Speaker: Um, We'll be able to split driving, you know, ride together, do whatever we got do to make this as cheap as possible for you. So you can come get on top thrill too. So you can come get on sirens curse. So you can come get on everything at King's Island, and get all those credits.
Speaker: If you haven't been out here in a while, this is the time to go. um Speaking of which, Top Thrill 2 testing is going extremely well and not official yet, but there should be a should be good by opening day or at least very shortly after.
Speaker: um You do have to be over the age of 18 to come to this event for obvious reasons or sorry, over the age of 18 to stay in group housing. um you know If you're under the age of 18, you're more than welcome to come hang out, but you know you can't be ah you can't be staying with everybody else at the at the group housing for, I think, pretty obvious reasons.
Speaker: um
Speaker: But yeah, again, August 13th through the 18th. If you want to qualify for group housing, you must have this filled out by April 31st. Or sorry, April 30th. There is no 31st this year.
Speaker: And that is a Wednesday because I want to get this booked ASAP p so that it's cheaper for everybody. um So yeah, come join us. If you haven't been to the Ohio parks, this is a great time to do so and a cheaper method of doing so.
