Introduction to Record-Breaking Coaster

00:00:04
Speaker
Sunday, Sunday! you ready for the highest and fastest coaster in the world? Are you ready for... This um island dares you to come face to face with the beast.
00:00:19
Speaker
The beast. 7,000 feet. You um
00:00:26
Speaker
hear my voice. The Loch Ness Monster. It's Andy Can Andy.
00:00:37
Speaker
wow Oh, no. Mr. Pop. Ready to go.

Unexpected Delays and Host's Determination

00:01:08
Speaker
All riders waiting and on top of the tractor, we are currently experiencing a mechanical issue and we do not know the length of the delay. And welcome back to the single rider line.
00:01:20
Speaker
i am your host, Lance, and I have a voice that is gone, but, you know, I say it was thinking, just just fuck it. well We're going to record an episode.
00:01:32
Speaker
It's been... ah coming up on two weeks now and if i don't put an up out an episode today this is gonna be a problem so if my voice sounds weird that is the reason why um i was at cedar point for opening day yesterday and and waited just shy of 10 hours for top thrill 2 not due to a line and but due to rain So i don't know if that's contributing to it or if it's just from me yelling my head off on the rides.
00:02:05
Speaker
i don't I don't know. But again, welcome back. good Good to have you guys.

New Amusement Park Review Series Launch

00:02:13
Speaker
ah This week, I've got an idea for a new like sub-series that we're going to start.
00:02:21
Speaker
It is called ah Review Review. So what I'm going to be doing is I have... listed almost every park I've been to on a picker wheel on picker wheel.com. Um, I've made a few exceptions, stuff like, uh, theme parks or parks that are more focused on, um, like family attractions and that sort of thing, like Disneyland are not on here, but I've listed every single,
00:02:54
Speaker
um amusement park roller coaster focused park that I've been to on this list and what we are going to do is spin the wheel and whatever it lands on ah we are going to go over to Google reviews and find the worst rated review we can that's like well put together and we're going to review said review we're going to see if that review is justified or not if that's you know something that you should expect when you're going or if they're just full of it so i'm gonna pick a few out after i spend this thing i'm gonna make a cut in the audio obviously
00:03:34
Speaker
So here is what we have listed. We have, and I was thinking of doing one of these like what once a month. We got Cedar Point, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, California's Great America, Carowinds, Dollywood, Fun Spot Atlanta, Hershey Park, Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, King's Dominion, King's Island, Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Great America,
00:04:03
Speaker
and six flags magic mountain. So these are all of the parks that I have been to that are roller coaster focused. I've been to other ones like Disneyland and some real small parks, um, like some, like so with some, uh, mountain coasters, but we're not going to worry about those.

Knott's Berry Farm Review Begins

00:04:23
Speaker
So I actually, I'm actually going to go ahead and remove, um, fun spot atlanta actually no i'm gonna leave fun spot america on there atlanta whatever you want to call it ah so let's go ahead and spin the wheel what is this week's episode going to be what park are we going to be checking out and the wheel has been spun stopping stopping stopping and we are taking a look at knots berry farm
00:04:57
Speaker
So I am going to go ahead and pause the recording and i will come back once I have found a few be right back. And we are back through the magical power air of Zencaster and editing.
00:05:14
Speaker
We have found some Knott's Berry Farm ah ah um bullshit on here.

Negative Reviews and Host's Counterpoints

00:05:22
Speaker
So I found some negative reviews.
00:05:25
Speaker
We're going to ah go ahead and read them off and see if these are accurate. So first one we have, they visited on the weekend. This was three months ago by Christopher Prescott.
00:05:39
Speaker
He gave one star. He said, save your money or just go once. No point in buying an annual pass when they close at 6 p.m. most of the time. What amusement, what God, what amusement is that?
00:05:55
Speaker
Other than a joke. Monday through Thursday, they close at 6 p.m. Friday, they close at 8 p.m. Saturday at 10 p.m. And Sundays at 9 p.m. So disappointing and such a waste of money for an annual pass.
00:06:09
Speaker
We bought it during Christmas, which the only month which the only which is the only month that they are actually open all week until 10 p.m. I would have rather just paid to go one day during the week and called it a trip.
00:06:24
Speaker
Totally whack. Not to mention they have the worst Amusement Park employees I have ever experienced. Amusement Park employees are usually miserable. However, Knott's employees are so rude and collectively miserable.
00:06:37
Speaker
You throw in unorganized, scattered parking all over Vienna Park, and you'll have a huge disappointment. Knott's is whack. I wouldn't call it whack.
00:06:48
Speaker
what are we thinking about this, guys? I would say whack is a bit of a ah but definitely... but Definitely a bit too far. I can i can't speak for his ah ah stuff about the employees. you know Maybe he had a bad bad experience with them.
00:07:06
Speaker
I personally didn't, but that's not to say that he didn't whatsoever. i I think Knott's was pretty nice. Knott's is definitely one of the higher quality Cedar Fair Park's ah Half of this complaint is just about the hours, which i mean, I kind of get complaining about them closing at six Monday through Thursday, because if you work till five, you know, hypothetically, you get off work directly at five, go straight to the park.
00:07:33
Speaker
You have less than an hour to ride anything or do anything, which is not optimal. um So i kind of get that. i get I get why he's complaining there.
00:07:46
Speaker
i don't think that's not worth buying an annual pass for because if I check Knott's website, I'm pretty sure during the summer they are 10 to 10 every day. Let me let me double check that.
00:08:06
Speaker
ah to
00:08:11
Speaker
Monthly. All right. So June, they are 10 to 8, Monday through Thursday, and then 10 to 10 Friday, and then actually 10 to 11 Saturday, and then 10 to 10 Sunday.
00:08:29
Speaker
And then that's and that's the first two weeks of June. And then this and then once the 16th rolls around, they are 10 to 10 every single weekday.
00:08:41
Speaker
except for Saturdays where they're told 11 and then Sundays back to 10 PM closes. And then July 10 to 10, 10 to 11, yeah, 10 to 10 through the week, 10 to 11 Saturday. And then they keep that, um, and all the way through august all the way through 9th of August, they keep or the 10th of August, they keep that schedule.
00:09:08
Speaker
And then the 11th of August, they switch it back to 10 to 6, and then stay at 11 p.m. on Saturdays, and actually on Sundays as well. Huh. but um
00:09:25
Speaker
But, yeah, I think, I mean, I think the hours are kind of dumb to complain about. I mean, they have to compensate for... their workforce being mostly school-age kids. So I do kind of get that whenever, you know, it's the middle of the school year. And it's like, oh, yeah, Knott's Berry Farm didn't let me get off work until 11 p.m. And then I have school the next morning at 7. You know, like, that that's not exactly fair to them.
00:09:55
Speaker
So I do kind of, I do think the hours are kind of dumb to complain about, So I'm going to go ahead and rank this.

Evaluating Review Viability

00:10:04
Speaker
We'll start ranking these on a scale of viability of 1 to 10. 10 being the most viable, 1 being the least viable. I'm going to have to give this like 3.
00:10:13
Speaker
i I kind of get complaining about the hours, but I mean, and I do kind of get the whole parking thing, but that's that's not a reason to not get a pass considering they're open every single day of the year except for Christmas.
00:10:27
Speaker
Or are they open Christmas? Is Knott's Berry Farm open Christmas Day?
00:10:34
Speaker
Let's find out.
00:10:38
Speaker
December 25th. No, that's the only day they are not open, is Christmas Day. And that's understandable. why would you you know why Why would you be open Christmas Day?
00:10:52
Speaker
Shit, they're even open Thanksgiving. Like... it they're open Thanksgiving, they're open Halloween. Are they open 4th of July? They're definitely open 4th of July. They're open for every single holiday except for... Yeah, they are 364 days a year. There is not a day they're not open except for Christmas Day.
00:11:16
Speaker
That's a pretty good deal if you ask me, considering how cheap Knott's Passes are. So I'm going to give that a 3 out of 10. Definitely...
00:11:27
Speaker
definitely gonna disagree with that one all right cecilia rice writes beware went to not scary farm with my husband on 8 25 24 thank you for giving me a date because it's gonna make this a lot easier all right so before we before we even get even further into this not scary farm i've never been but apparently it's a shit show with the amount of people there Went to Not Scary Far with my husband, 82524, and our car was stolen from the parking lot. What the fuck?
00:12:00
Speaker
We paid to park at the amusement park and enjoyed a couple of hours at Nott's before heading back to our car, and it was completely gone. Shattered glass was where we had our car parked from someone breaking into the window to steal our car.
00:12:14
Speaker
We got a hold of so security patrol, and they kept saying we probably forgot where we parked and claimed they had no cameras in the parking lot and that it was not their responsibility. oh my Holy shit.
00:12:25
Speaker
Our car was legit gone. We had to file police report for our stolen car and pay over $100 to Uber Home. They didn't even refund our $40 parking ticket. Like, why do we pay to park a car that was taken? Never going back again. Please be careful if you go.
00:12:41
Speaker
Not a safe amusement park or area. All right. i is not really a review of, like, the park itself. More so a review of the employees. All right. I will be honest with you. The security employees are kind of just...
00:12:57
Speaker
They're kind of just there to try and scare people off. They don't really do anything. um If we're being honest with ourselves here, no cameras in the parking lot. That's kind of sad. Why do you not have cameras in the parking lot in Southern California?
00:13:11
Speaker
I'm really sorry for this lady. I feel awful. Have your car stolen? Like walking out and your car is just not there. That's, that's gotta fucking suck on more levels than I can count.
00:13:25
Speaker
What is Knott's parking policy? I'm curious as to know this now. Knott's Berry Farm parking policy.
00:13:35
Speaker
Is that stated in the prime fine print?
00:13:40
Speaker
That they're not, um
00:13:46
Speaker
that they're not, you know, allowed to do that hold on i'm checking i'm looking for
00:14:00
Speaker
gonna read the terms uh let me read the terms of conditions let me guess this is buried in the buried in the uh terms and conditions for release of liability assumption of risk um
00:14:27
Speaker
to to to I'm looking. I'm not seeing
00:14:34
Speaker
loss of property.
00:14:39
Speaker
Six Flags is not responsible for loss or stolen property of a pass holder or ticket holder. I mean, I'm not saying that that's okay. That, like, That's such a shitty way to go about it. Like, I'm not saying that not should have replaced her car or paid for it or anything like that, but they could have at least like that. You could at least have cameras there or, ah you know, have somebody keep a better eye on this sort of thing.
00:15:06
Speaker
I can't really defend the park whenever it comes to this, because that's just like, that's such a shitty thing to do is, you know, park in the knots parking lot and just,
00:15:18
Speaker
have somebody break in steal it. And nobody was there to see it.
00:15:23
Speaker
I wouldn't say it's not a safe amusement park or area. I'd say it's a generally safe area of, of Southern California, but that's, that's fucking awful. That that was terribly handled, at least according to her story.
00:15:35
Speaker
ah I'm going to give this a nine out of 10. I mean, that's, Getting your car stolen is like the worst thing you can you can have at an amusement park, aside from losing your keys and and other things like that.
00:15:50
Speaker
um
00:15:54
Speaker
Yeah, I'm really sorry, Cecilia. I hope that that car situation got fixed out, but I hope that at least your time at the park was was was decent. They said they enjoyed a couple hours at Knott's, so that's that's good at least.
00:16:10
Speaker
All right, we got DC Tibb. I don't know what that means, but that's ah this guy's name on Google.

Concerns About Park Experience

00:16:16
Speaker
He gave it. He gave not Barry Farmer one star. He said the lines are ridiculously slow here and terribly inefficient. they Yeah, depends.
00:16:25
Speaker
Every ride has fast lane and every line is extremely inefficient, is managed extremely inefficiently. They have the fast lane merge at the station rather than a little further back, which causes major delays in loading because the staff have to keep track of fast lane guests and the regular guests and keep track of a number of seats taken by fast lane guests and regular and the regular guests and to keep track of the number. home Holy shit.
00:16:49
Speaker
That was the, he totally fucked up typing this part. Other than that, the park is fine, but the lines make it unbearable without fast lane with an extra hundred dollars. um which is, ah without a fast lane, which is an extra $100 a day or $750 when added to a season pass.
00:17:07
Speaker
Expect to only ride about three to four significant rides in an entire day. to be four To be fair, there's only about three or four significant rides there. i I do kind of get, he doesn't mention when he was going.
00:17:21
Speaker
It says that he caught he posted this a month ago. So I'm guessing he posts that he went during, What spring break? I'm guessing. So i could definitely see that.
00:17:34
Speaker
I can't speak for their fast lane. i haven't tried it. Whenever I was there, the lines weren't too bad. um
00:17:42
Speaker
We never waited more than an hour for anything. I don't know what he can. What do you consider a long line? Like, do you consider 45 minutes a long line? Because that's not super long.
00:17:53
Speaker
Or do you consider two hours long line? Two hours is unbearable, as he says. 45 minutes is fine. I'm going to have to give this a 5 out of 10 because I don't know, like, what this guy considers long lines.
00:18:10
Speaker
I do kind of get what he says about the but fast lane merging. As somebody who has worked ah plenty of roller coasters, count keeping track of fast lane guests is not hard.
00:18:24
Speaker
You just have a clicker and you just click it per person you see. If you're even keeping track of that in the first place. um
00:18:35
Speaker
Yeah, we'll give it a five out of ten, just like it like an in-between in the road, and in the middle of the road. So we'll leave we'll leave it believed at that.
00:18:45
Speaker
All right. Jacob and Adam's adventures says it was not fun at all. It was more busy than Disneyland. Ridiculous. With no single riders and with two to three hours of weights per ride, it wasn't fun at all and not worth your money.
00:19:01
Speaker
And buying food is more money than Disneyland. My son begged me to go there and we were very, very disappointed. Two to three hours. that's that's pretty That's pretty ridiculous. Yeah, I will say the no single rider line thing is a little annoying.
00:19:15
Speaker
I wish more parks had that. Speaking of which, there's this really cool podcast. i don't know if you guys heard of it before. It's called The Single Rider Line. I'll shut up. um
00:19:25
Speaker
ah I wonder if this guy is just a Disneyland fan or not.
00:19:31
Speaker
I'm looking at his other reviews right now.
00:19:36
Speaker
He's left reviews, man. He's left reviews. All you can click on people's profiles and see where they've left reviews at.
00:19:44
Speaker
He gave knots, uh, what the fuck? He gave knots a two, a one-star review and he gave magic mountain.
00:19:55
Speaker
He gave magic mountain a three-star review.
00:20:00
Speaker
Huh?
00:20:02
Speaker
Okay. I'm getting off. I'm getting off track here. Um, I'll give this like a four. i don't know when he went. It says he went on a weekend four months ago. So four months ago was January.
00:20:17
Speaker
So, um no, february February, late January. That's like a perfect time to go. Two to three hours going based on off whenever he posted this. If he posted this around the same time he went, I don't think two to three hours is very accurate. We're going to give this a four out of 10 stars.
00:20:35
Speaker
as far as reviews go. um Kind of sounds like a Disneyland fan. We'll see.
00:20:44
Speaker
All right. ah We got Lester Williams Jr. He gave not to one star. He says worst theme park visit ever went on a Saturday and the teens have a routine where they skip the lines. I did see that.
00:20:56
Speaker
That is i I saw that multiple times where people tried to jump the lines. Thankfully, employees stopped them. But yeah, I did notice that two ladies next to me got into a physical alter altercation over it. Jesus Christ.
00:21:10
Speaker
The part doesn't do anything to stop the behavior and security is of no help. I'm going to disagree with that, at least whenever I was there. Extremely frustrating. The one star is for the attendant at the ticket counter who resolved an issue with my season pass.
00:21:24
Speaker
She was great. Oh, so he would have left at zero stars, but that's it. Okay. He doesn't clarify, aside from the the people jumping the lines, which maybe the employees while he was there didn't do it.
00:21:42
Speaker
I'm not going put that past them. They definitely should have. So if the employees didn't ah drop, if they dropped the ball, then that's kind of their fault. um
00:21:56
Speaker
he He didn't really talk about the park at all. He just talked about the people there and that's it. I'm going to give this like ah like a four stars as well, just because the line jumpers were definitely real.
00:22:07
Speaker
um Whether the um the employees helped or not, I don't know. so we're going to give a four stars and we're going to move on. Oh, here we go. This is three paragraphs long. Shadow Nico when ah visited three months ago on a weekend.
00:22:26
Speaker
He says, or she says, one of the two. I had high hopes for Knott's Berry Farm, but unfortunately, our visit was far from enjoyable. The park seemed oversold, particularly with meal plans, which led to severe overcrowding.
00:22:41
Speaker
Wait times for rides were extremely long, some exceeding two hours, and even dining was a challenge, with food lines stretching to an hour. Jesus Christ. To make matters worse, the food was overpriced and had, frankly, underwhelming in quality.

Security and Privacy Issues at the Park

00:22:54
Speaker
A particularly upsetting moment came when I interacted with staff. i understand the need for an ID verification. I had expressed concerns about scanning my ID for fraud for privacy reasons.
00:23:05
Speaker
Despite this, my ID was scanned anyways. And after it was verified, I was still questioned about whether the ID belonged to me. As a 60 year old, this felt unnecessarily invasive and disrespectful.
00:23:16
Speaker
The interaction left me feeling humiliated and fairly unfairly judged. It's truly frustrating to spend so much money on tickets, parking, and food, only to leave the park feeling stressed and deeply deeply disappointed.
00:23:28
Speaker
I had hoped for a fun and memorable day, but sadly the experience had far and fell fell short of expectations. Regrettably, I don't see myself returning anytime soon. All right. So lines I can't speak for, so I'm going to give him the benefit and say that those were accurate.
00:23:45
Speaker
Where in the park do you need your ID to be scanned? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but where... Do you have to get your ID scanned to get into the the park or to do anything? Even if you're buying alcohol, they don't have to scan your ID.
00:24:03
Speaker
I'm question. I very well could be wrong, but where, where does this happen? I don't, I don't know. Let me, let me Google this.
00:24:15
Speaker
ID scanning. Knott's Berry farm.
00:24:25
Speaker
i
00:24:34
Speaker
the I mean, they have their chaperone policy
00:24:42
Speaker
to scan your ID, but like where... So did he bring people with him to
00:24:52
Speaker
to bring like people under the age of 16 and I'm very confused as to
00:25:02
Speaker
where he had to scan his ID.
00:25:06
Speaker
i mean, showing somebody your ID isn't like the the biggest, the biggest deal. i mean, you got to do it anytime you want to buy alcohol. So doing it for their chaperone policy, I don't think is a, is a big deal.
00:25:18
Speaker
Um,
00:25:21
Speaker
Spending so much money on food and tickets. Yeah. Yeah. they They do. They do charge quite a bit if you don't have a season pass. So I'll give this, I'll give this a three at like a three as well.
00:25:34
Speaker
Cause the lines, the lines thing. Yeah. I, I can, I can see that's always frustrating. um The ID thing, I don't know what that interaction was like, but they don't scan your ID as far as I'm aware for for anything.
00:25:53
Speaker
You just show it to them. um So three out of ten.
00:26:02
Speaker
All right. ah Let's find another one. Okay.
00:26:09
Speaker
ah Jamie Israel writes, she has, ah gave it a one star. She said horrible experience. Damn near all the rides were closed. A few games where you can win a prize were open.
00:26:23
Speaker
Excuse me.
00:26:25
Speaker
The funnel cakes were off. No sweetness to them. the The bear ride was a joke and very unorganized. The bear ride?
00:26:36
Speaker
What? The bear ride? Uh... What's the bear ride? Hold on. I'm looking at my... my is It's probably not coaster.
00:26:50
Speaker
Bear ride. Knott's Berry Farm.
00:26:58
Speaker
Bear ride at Knott's Berry Farm. Berry Tales?
00:27:03
Speaker
Is that what she's talking about? Bear Ride was a joke and very unorganized. I'm guessing that's what she was talking about.
00:27:15
Speaker
It was, i mean, it was it was fine. and It stopped counting. it It was kind of unorganized. so i will i will give her that. The chicken basket meal was cold and the hamburger meal. They had no barbecue dipping sauce and the cashier said they have been out for weeks now.
00:27:31
Speaker
They usually have people in front to take a group photo of you. Nobody was there. In all, I would never go to the park again. a lot of this seems kind of petty. I'll give her with the food.
00:27:43
Speaker
Half the rides being, I i don't know.
00:27:48
Speaker
All the rides were close. When did you go? Visited on a weekday a month ago. So. We'll say.
00:28:01
Speaker
Late March, early April.
00:28:06
Speaker
i don't know if you had a if you were there on a bad day. She very well could just put in there been there on a bad day. I don't know what what rides were closed. The bear. ride Are you talking about Berry Tales?
00:28:18
Speaker
I'm guessing that's what you were talking about.
00:28:22
Speaker
That ride was kind of mid.
00:28:26
Speaker
I'm
00:28:30
Speaker
going to umnna have to give this ah ah three stars as well. Like a three three out of ten. because The food being cold, that's a fair complaint.
00:28:41
Speaker
ah No barbecue dipping sauce, that's a fair complaint. That's like such a... like Not saying that's not important, but that's a small part of the entire park experience. The funnel cakes being off.
00:28:54
Speaker
I can't speak for funnel cakes. I have celiac disease. I can't eat those.

Final Thoughts and Episode Conclusion

00:28:57
Speaker
um I don't know about the rides. What rides are you trying to ride? i i don't know.
00:29:06
Speaker
All right. ah We'll do one more and we will we will wrap it. We will wrap it there. And I'll do one of these next month as well. I took knots off the list, so we won't get that one again.
00:29:19
Speaker
And we'll get a different park next time. All right, here we go. Cheryl c gave it a one star. She says, we got there on 12-27-
00:29:30
Speaker
Right at opening, we had a great time for the first hour, getting a few rides with minimal wait times. Around 11 a.m., m the floodgates opened and every ride was over a two-hour wait. We ended up leaving early because we could hardly walk through the park due to overcrowding.

We came from out of the state and really expected a better experience. The people at the pizza restaurant were so rude and abrupt. Many of the rides closed down for a period of time due to technical issues. We were likely skipped We will likely skip Knott's for our next California vacation.

I don't think it's worth skipping again. I'm going to give this a three. no I'm give it a two because I think that that the pizza restaurant complaint was fine. Overcrowding, I get, but also you chose to go during Christmas and everybody goes during Christmas.

Speaker
That's more of a just that's not just a knots thing. That's a any sort of event thing. If you're going during Christmas break when everybody's kids are off and it's a family environment, it's going to be busy as fuck.
