Reunion and Storytelling Pace

00:00:00
Speaker
Omega and Crosshair are already back with Wrecker and Hunter, and we got a little reunion there at the end. I want to ask you, Scotty, do you feel like we're moving a little too fast? Well, we're going fast and hard, and I'm not going to complain about that. So I'm cool with it. I get you. I get you. I mean, for me, I was like, oh, Babatch, take me out to dinner first.

Podcast Introduction and Episode Delays

00:00:27
Speaker
Welcome back to This Is The Way Seekers, a podcast for Star Wars fans, by Star Wars fans. My name's Austin SWE. I'm here with my co-host, as always, Scotty Holiday. Scotty, how are you doing this week? It's been a long week. It's been a good week. Yeah, yeah, I think it's been a long week for both of us because we're only getting this Bad Batch episode out five days later, only five days later. We're super early here talking about Bad Batch episode four, right?
00:00:57
Speaker
Uh, no, we're actually, we're going to be talking about episode five today. We've already seen it. It's how early we are now. Um, but yeah, better late than never. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And we're going to get back on track because this is the way seekers bad batch episodes release every Thursday at 8am central time. So episode five, 8am central time, we're not playing, we're not making room for Deborah Wilson next week. So we don't have to change the schedule up.
00:01:24
Speaker
I'll always change my schedule for Deborah Wilson. Like, yes, yes, anything for her. She is a gem of a human.

Bad Batch Episode 4 Discussion

00:01:32
Speaker
Oh, my gosh. Yes. Yes. If you haven't checked out the Deborah Wilson interview that we did last Friday with Sierra Junda herself, Deborah Wilson, please check that out. It was a great conversation about Jedi fallen order and survivor and the spiritual side of the force. Sierra Junda, Deborah Wilson is one of the biggest Star Wars fans.
00:01:49
Speaker
I know, honestly, after that interview, so check it out for sure. Definitely. But as exciting as that was, Scotty, what are we talking about today? Because I'm still excited to be talking about this. Yes, today we're going to be talking about episode four of the Bad Batch season three, a different approach.
00:02:07
Speaker
Yes, yes, a different approach. Honestly, one of my favorite episodes of the Bad Batch because as we know from last week, I've been loving this crosshair redemption arc. And now it's just it's going real fast. It's going straightforward to the point where Omega and crosshair are already back with Wrecker and Hunter. And we got a little reunion there at the end. I want to ask you, Scotty, do you feel like we're moving a little too fast or you like in this pace that we're going with the Bad Batch season three?
00:02:37
Speaker
Well, we're going fast and hard and I'm not going to complain about that. So I'm cool with it. I get you. I get you. I mean, for me at the start, I was like, oh, that batch take me out to dinner first. But I'm not worried about it right now because I thought about it and we got three episodes that first week. And so, yeah, we're kind of moving fast from season two and Omega being on Mount Tantus.
00:03:03
Speaker
she's already off she's already escaped already back with record and hunter yeah that went fast but think about it the bad batch has had 32 episodes up until this point to tell this story and to get us to this point so i feel like we deserve to go this fast and i feel like
00:03:20
Speaker
At this point, since we're going so fast, is the Bad Batch, what is happening in these next, what is it, eight episodes? 11 episodes. What is going to happen in these next 11 episodes to the Bad Batch since we are already at this point four episodes in?

Lore Expansion and Character Growth

00:03:37
Speaker
Uh, it's gonna, uh, they're gonna team up with Ventress and that's just going to be the rest of the season. I got, I got the screeners for the whole season. She's just in the rest of it. Great. Yeah. Yeah. If only. Yeah. No, I know you're holding out for Ventress, but we'll get there. We'll get there because we still have so much to celebrate going on in this season. Like I said last week,
00:04:03
Speaker
This is some of the best Star Wars I feel like we've gotten at least in recent times. I've just been enjoying these last four episodes and the Bad Batch altogether. I'm just like, hell, yes, Bad Batch. And I think it really shows, too, that they've had so much story to get us to this point because they're able to reference so much from the past, from these past two seasons. Like, for example, this episode, we're seeing Omega trying to swindle her way through the spaceport. We see that she learned that from Sid and Fi
00:04:32
Speaker
You know, kind of her mentors in the past, which he was so much better of a mentor for Omega than Sid. She's coming. She's coming. She's coming. We saw her in the trailer and we hope hopefully Pablo is going to show up because I mean, I guess they already went back to Pablo, right? Because they dropped those clone cadets off.
00:04:51
Speaker
I mean, they could just be asleep in the ship. Who knows? Maybe we'll find out. We're I'm sure we're not. This isn't the last time we're going to see the children regs like they're going to be back. We're going to see them when we go back to Pablo. 100 percent, 100 percent. But yeah, not only the spaceport, but then we're seeing her gamble, which she also learned from Fi and Sid.

Episode Design and Accents

00:05:12
Speaker
Well, Scotty, how are you feeling about Bad Batch season three, episode four and kind of where we're at at this point in the story? You feeling as excited as I am?
00:05:20
Speaker
I don't know if I would say I'm as excited as you are, but I am still really excited about the show. I really like this episode because the the planet that they were on Lao, the city that they were in, I don't know what it was. I really liked the design of the city and how lived in that it felt. And I don't know if you could tell, but there was like faint sounds of like wind in the background. And it was reminding me of like being on Zepho and Jedi Fallen Order, which
00:05:48
Speaker
Granted, it's not like Zeffo and this planet were anything similar, but it was still a really cool vibe that I liked and to be in this cool, like windy city and it should just be so lived in. And there was lots of different accents on this planet, too, which was cool because because we're so used to, you know, just a regular English accent in Star Wars or what do they call it? The basic.
00:06:13
Speaker
basic. There's like a special name for it. I can't remember what it's called. We're not real fans. But like the droid in the cantina had a cool accent. I think it was like an Irish accent. There was like the little kid outside of the cantina was giving like a little like paperboy cockney accent. Like it was it was it was a really cool place. I really liked it. I wish we could have stuck around a little bit longer. But, you know, like we already said, the story's moving and we're moving with it.
00:06:42
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I totally agree with you about the overall design of Lao, the attention to detail. You know, it's a cold planet. You could tell it's cold because of their breath and everything. They're like breathing all over the place with that little detail. That was such a good one, too. Yeah. Yeah. Because I feel like in past Star Wars, it's like they want to have a cold planet, you know, just make a snow planet, you know. So it was kind of cool to see that. And it did give me the same vibes as Zepho from Jedi Fallen Order.
00:07:10
Speaker
I feel like the animation video game side of things where it's like they build it from the ground up, none of it's real. They have the best world building in Star Wars. And that's why I always say animated Star Wars, best Star Wars, because think of these last four episodes, just the amount of lore that's been added to the Star Wars canon just from four episodes of the bad batch. You know, we got a monarchy. We have
00:07:33
Speaker
a new imperial base that got ruined by slither vines, you know, things like that. I'm like, this is just cool shit to me. I don't know how anybody could be disappointed.
00:07:44
Speaker
Yeah. And I mean, I don't want to get too ahead, but like I cried at the end. So like this, this was a great episode. This has been some great storytelling, only four episodes. And I'm sure we're going to get a great filler episode, filler episode next week. So I can't wait. Well, you think so? You think so? Because I feel like I mean, maybe, you know, it's bad batch and I honestly wouldn't mind them to like maybe slow down a little bit with an episode. But I feel like with the pace they're going, I'm like,
00:08:12
Speaker
For them to have done all of this in four episodes, get Omega back, get Crosshair back to the Bad Batch. Are they even going to have time? I feel like these next 11 episodes just gonna be nonstop. Just go, go, go, go, go.
00:08:30
Speaker
Well, only time will tell. Yes, yes, 100 percent.

Speculation and Emotional Stakes

00:08:34
Speaker
You know, one thing I thought was pretty interesting, though, about this episode was at the start, after they crash land on Lao, Omega and Crosshair kind of have a conversation about what's next, you know, and Crosshair is just kind of like, we need to get off this planet. But Omega wants to go back to Mount Tantis to rescue the clones in there, because as she said, last three episodes, no clone belongs in that facility.
00:08:56
Speaker
And that kind of surprised me, but also not at the same time, because I think something that we've talked about on this podcast, something that a lot of people have theorized is that clone rebellion. And I really feel like that's leading up to Omega possibly leading that clone rebellion to get everyone out of Mount Tantus.
00:09:14
Speaker
Yeah, well, it's so funny because I was right with crosshair. I was like, you want to go back to Tantus? I felt like Finn in The Force Awakens being like, why does everybody want to go back to Mount Tantus? Why do you want to go back there? You just left. But I do agree that I think it's really going to build up to
00:09:36
Speaker
some kind of big prison break rebellion. But, you know, we don't know yet, but they're definitely planting the seeds for that already, clearly. Yeah, yeah, 100 percent. I think she needs to build up to it first. You know, I think in her mind, she's just like, we need to get them out. We don't have time to plan or anything, but kind of like
00:09:56
Speaker
the interaction that Wrecker and Hunter had in episode two where it's like, no, we shouldn't just go in and go back to Mount Tantus and try to rescue everyone. Let's go get some reinforcements. You know, we've been seeing these last two seasons that there's these clones in the background that are starting to come together that are waking up and realizing, hey,
00:10:18
Speaker
This is fucked up. Everything that's gone on to this point. What the fuck? We need to do something about this. Either way, I feel like that ending is going to be so emotional no matter what, even if it's not even just sad emotions, you know, even if it's just happy through the roof, like, oh, my gosh, so excited. Either way, that that episode is going to make me probably feel every emotion. As long as there's not a I can't swim moment, I think I think we'll be good. Oh, Mike is going to be like, oh, I can't swim.
00:10:48
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, they're all loud. They need a way off. So like we said earlier, Omega tries to kind of bribe her way through with the spaceport administrator kind of being like, well, we can take care of you if you let us through. And I think kind of the whole vibe of this planet is everyone is kind of looking to everyone's a little greedy here. There's a lot of gambling vibes and everything greedy, skeezy. Like, yeah, there's there's a lot of things that are going on under the radar.
00:11:17
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. And so it wasn't very difficult for Omega to convince this administrator to be like, all right, we'll do it for 30,000 credits, which of course, at that point, I'm like, oh, my God, 30,000 credits. But who knows what credits are like in Star Wars, how much that actually means, because they were able to acquire their 30,000 and over 30,000 in
00:11:39
Speaker
What an hour two hours? I was thinking the same thing I was like, is this like pennies? Right. Is that is that how they're doing this? Because, you know, she went like almost 50,000 credits just gambling. Now it's like and then they're having to give away 10,000 credits. I'm like, that feels like a lot of money. Yeah. But there's like, oh, OK, fine. Like a 10,000 credit fine.
00:12:03
Speaker
That sounds expensive, but who knows? We don't know how the currency works. We won't even get into Mon Calamari flaunt, but. Yeah, how does that all fit in? But yeah, one thing I want to say is that I feel like Crosshair and Omega putting these two characters together, I think was the best decision that the Bad Batch has done.

Relationship Dynamics and Comparisons

00:12:22
Speaker
And looking back, I'm like, this was this was probably the only way they really could have gone after those first two seasons. And
00:12:30
Speaker
I feel like the Bad Batch is really becoming about Omega and Crosshair. Yeah, it's about the whole Bad Batch, but I feel like at the end of the day, those two characters are going to have the biggest arcs throughout the full three seasons. And those two are going to be the main characters of this season. And I don't know, how do you feel about their kind of being put together and kind of being forced to be together?
00:12:54
Speaker
No, I really love the dynamic and it's funny because like I was rewatching it with my best friend a couple of days ago and I was like, this feels like me and you in the sense of that, of course, I'm crosshair because she'll be like, oh, come on. Like we really need to do this. Like it's the right thing to do. And like me begrudgingly, I'm like, oh, you're right.
00:13:17
Speaker
Yeah, so I guess I'll do it because I don't want to be a shitty person. I mean, granted, it doesn't happen all the time, but it'll be like, oh, like, let's go help like do this thing. And I'm like, I really don't want to, but I guess I will. And that feels like a lot of the every time that crosshair and Omega have like
00:13:37
Speaker
a little tiff about, you know, what the next plan or the next point of their plan is. It really feels like that. And the dynamics really fun. It'd be really interesting to see, like, like you said, if they are the main characters of the season, which they're definitely set up like they could be. Right. If they both make it out alive. Yeah, yeah, 100 percent.
00:13:59
Speaker
Yeah, their relationship's really humanizing crosshair, I feel like. You know, all the other bad bachelors we saw got to have their dad arc and become better dads. And now we're kind of seeing crosshair do that. Or even like Batcher, you know, we've kind of see Batcher chasing crosshair around the ship. And then by the end of it, they're more at least friends or tolerate each other. You know, crosshair isn't like,
00:14:23
Speaker
You know, you know, crosshair goes in and saves Batcher with Omega at the end of the at the end of the grudgingly, begrudgingly. But yeah, he does. And I'm sure he's happy he did. Yeah, no, I agree. And that was one of the main things, because like Bestie has the dog. I'm like, I really don't want to deal with the dog. And she's like, but it's the right thing to do. And I'm like,
00:14:47
Speaker
Oh, OK. So like I really was like feeling it. It was just a really fun dynamic. I like. Have you seen? Have you seen up the Pixar movie up? No. Oh, what? Anyways, it's the same vibes where old man Carl and then the younger kid seems like Russell or something like that.
00:15:10
Speaker
And it's the same exact vibe. He's just like, you know, there's a dog out there and he's like, we need to save the dog. And he's like, come on, we need to go. It's the same exact vibes. But then exactly like crosshair at the end, he chooses to do the right thing. You know, he wanted to do the right thing. He's just a little grumpy asshole. So yeah. But speaking of grumpy assholes, Captain Man here, this imperial that comes in, wants to gamble and then loses.
00:15:39
Speaker
And all of a sudden, gambling's fucking illegal now. I know. He's such a asshole. Dick like. Oh, my God. He kind of looks like like a weeble wobble like those toys that like. Oh, my God. Right. And I was just like, Oh, I hate this guy. He's such a dick. He's very fat and satisfied. Like they said back in Andor talking about the inferior officers. I was like, Oh, look at this pompous asshole.
00:16:09
Speaker
Right, which I have a gripe because as as someone who's bigger themselves as someone, you know Who who would be considered fat? I'm like, why is every fat person in Star Wars a fucking Imperial and it's like the worst Imperial you've ever seen who's just a total dickhead for no fucking repair reason at all I'm like damn. Yeah, here comes in dude with a double chin and of course, he's a fucking bad guy and
00:16:35
Speaker
The only fat person that we get is fucking Anto Krieger from Andor in a goddamn holocrom. Oh, my God, I was literally going to say, don't forget the one person I can cosplay, Anto Krieger from fucking Andor, the bald bearded one. And I'm like.
00:16:53
Speaker
I don't want to be into a Krieger and he's dead anyway. So Sucker fucked him over. We saw his little fucking video game 3D model in the hologram. And that's our representation right there. But Krieger probably doesn't even have an actor. He was probably just like created digitally.
00:17:13
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. But but all jokes aside, yeah, fuck this guy, Captain Man. He was the one that came in. He was like, put the dog away as if the dog was bothering him and then make sure to capture the dog. And, you know, meanwhile, this whole time we know that Hemlock and Hemlock's little bitches, what do you call them? The commandos are figuring out that they're on Lao crosshair and Omega and
00:17:42
Speaker
So then there's all that where now Captain Man is working for Hemlock and trying to wait for Hemlock to come in. I'm like, fuck this empire. The empire already took over the planet, but now it's all this bullshit. They just can't catch a break. But somehow they all do.
00:17:58
Speaker
That's the thing too is I don't know if while you were watching if you were feeling this way too but I was kind of like waiting for Captain Man to reveal that like he knew who Omega and Crosshair were or at least knew that they were you know clones who had escaped an Imperial facility and
00:18:15
Speaker
I kept waiting for him to reveal that or to try to like make a comment eluding to it. And it's crazy because it doesn't happen until the end when they get to the docks to go find bachelor. And at that point, he's even like, oh, well, you know, here on Lao, there's also fines when you don't have your animal registered. And by the way, you might as well give me all my money back because it's going to be even worse for you when Hemlock gets here. Right. And at that point, it's like, are you fucking kidding me?
00:18:44
Speaker
Are you kidding me? Like he just gets worse and worse the longer we see him. Yeah. Yeah. Which is the point. But I'm just like, Oh, fuck this guy.

Grim Fates and Game References

00:18:55
Speaker
Right. I just realized I can't remember what happens to him. Oh, I remember.
00:19:02
Speaker
You want me to tell you what happens to him because he gets his just desserts. So I don't know if it's confirmed, but he eventually after, you know, the scuffle in the I guess the the cargo port, he gets pulled into one of the containers and it looks like it's by a Rathtar.
00:19:21
Speaker
Oh, right. You know, I do remember that now. I remember that now. I'm like sitting here like what? I've watched that episode a few times and I'm like, I don't remember what happened to him. But that makes sense. I do remember that him. I'm pretty sure it's a Rathtar like the little appendage that comes out and pulls him in.
00:19:39
Speaker
I was just like, oh, no, because like, and that's so funny because I've referenced The Force Awakens already. And then this also had what I'm pretty sure is a wrath star in that episode. I was like, they had a million, a million references to Star Wars creatures out there. Have you heard they got my porgs out there? Really? I didn't even see any. All I saw was like the giraffe looking one. It was just I'm pretty sure it was just the sound like the sounds, the chirping or whatever.
00:20:08
Speaker
I was trying to look when they were all running, trying to see the different creatures, but they're all the same. I know. They try to make it seem like there's a variety, but they're all the same. So I know it was like three different designs, just like copied and pasted and multiplied, but.
00:20:24
Speaker
I mean it didn't really matter because the whole point was like it was not only did they free the animals who were locked up in cages but you know it caused a good distraction to make or to give the upper hand to crosshair and omega as they tried to
00:20:41
Speaker
get their way out of the cargo port and get to the ship. One thing I wanted to point out, too, because we keep talking about different Star Wars things that are referenced in this episode, it was reminding me actually of Knights of the Old Republic, too, because when you first arrive on the planet Onderon, they have a bunch of animals in cages like at the spaceport. And I don't remember exactly what animals they are, but it's like a big thing is like they're exporting animals from the planet and
00:21:11
Speaker
at one point, like one of the animals, like escapes and starts attacking somebody and you have to kill them and whatever. So I was just like, it's so funny, all these little callbacks that we're getting and even I mean, I know you haven't played Nancy, the old republic, but hopefully if anybody else has, please let me know that I'm not the only person on Iran.
00:21:30
Speaker
Well, did you see that Babak promo where record says something like there's always a big creature? I'm like, yeah, there there literally is always a big creature that comes in that's got to you got to fight them off. And they're either there to help in the end, but they still attack at the beginning or they just straight up assholes. But they never start off nice. They never start off as nice creatures.
00:21:55
Speaker
But yeah, after Crosshair and Omega's adventures and Crosshair becomes a better person visited by three ghosts and whatnot, they both go back to Wrecker and Hunter. And that's at that point, I was like, damn, like already? And I kind of going into it, I was like, damn, I really don't know how they're going to react Wrecker and Hunter towards Crosshair, because correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the last time they saw each other at the end of season one?
00:22:23
Speaker
I think so. I didn't think about the fact that Hunter and Rucker and Crosshair might be standoffish towards each other or there's still be like bad blood or like unsolved issues, especially because, you know, Omega doesn't have any. She's so compassionate. She's going to see the good in everybody.
00:22:42
Speaker
And I also realized in talking about it, I was like, oh, and of course, we as the audience have seen the journey that Crosshair has gone on and went through in season two. But Hunter and Rector did not. So they don't know what we know. But I also was kind of irritated because I was like, why are y'all being such dicks? You're being men. Right. I was like, you're acting like fucking men. And you'd be like, huh?
00:23:08
Speaker
We're still mad at you. And I'm like, can you wipe that nasty ass look off your face? Right, right. And I know they're trying to dramatize it because, you know, it's a big cliffhanger for next episode. But I was kind of I was like, well, why isn't there first thought, you know, oh, he got Omega back here. You know, exactly. Because she's like, yeah, I had help. And then I can crosshairs just like.
00:23:35
Speaker
Yeah, the wrecker, his fucking mean mug, like that was that was funny. But yeah, I was like, I was I was surprised by the reactions, but I guess not. I really guess it's just a case of we have to see what happens next week. But I really wonder how that relationship is going to be. And we talked about last week, like is Crosshair just going to eventually put on his old armor and be back with the bad batch, you know, as normal? Like,
00:24:03
Speaker
Like we said, we saw those shots in the trailer where he's like just a little glimpse of someone in crosshairs armor working with the bad batch and fee. Yeah. Do you think he's just going to be coming? Oh, my God. Do you think that he's just going to be coming back regularly and well, not regularly, but do you think that sometime soon he's just going to make his way back into the bad batch, put on his armor? And that's just that.
00:24:33
Speaker
Well, I'm mad because I was going to ask you this question, but I'll go ahead and I'll go ahead and get both. I would like to think that there might be a little bit of an uneasy kind of tension at first, but I would like to see them kind of fall into their old ways. As I was kind of thinking about this, I was also like.
00:24:56
Speaker
is crosshair. Does he even want to go back to the bad batch or is he going to be like, yeah, here's the kid. Nice seeing you. Right. Later and get back on the cargo ship and go somewhere else. So I don't we don't even know what his intentions are. Well, because mind you, he he doesn't even know probably because his idea was I'm just going to rot on tantis and be done with it. He didn't.
00:25:19
Speaker
Want saved he didn't want to be out of there He felt like he deserved to be there because of his betrayal and so

Crosshair's Struggles and Self-Worth

00:25:25
Speaker
I feel like even for him like in this moment He comes out with a mean mug and it's like for him. I don't know if it's necessarily because he feels some type of way or if it's because he literally just never thought that he would get to this point of seeing them again and now it's like I
00:25:42

Holy fuck, what do I do? What do I say? Do I like these guys? Do they like me? That that's me. Anytime I'm on a dating app, I'm like, I like these guys. So they like me. But as we talked about earlier, crosshair is just like grumpy. And so he's going to look pissy regardless. But like I said, Hunter and record, I was like, can you all not write? Right.
00:26:07
Speaker
But what do you think? What do you think is going to happen from here? What do you want to happen? Well, you probably want to join the batch. Yeah, I want them to join the batch. But I think what needs to happen is we need to have a few episodes where I think next week we should get like some sort of filler episode where we're more focusing on these character arcs. And so like they go on some sort of side mission where, you know, they're they're just trying to get money or something or like, oh, we have
00:26:34
Speaker
all these people and a dog now we need to get food from somewhere so they go on some sort of bounty mission or something that feels like it's really nothing but by the end of it crosshair is able to prove himself that he belongs here and that he should be there and maybe you know he'll feel more welcome too and more like oh this is the good old days you know this is how things work and so i feel like that's what's going to happen it's it's not just going to be you know next episode they're all
00:27:02
Speaker
Buddy, buddy again. But I do think that after a few episodes, Crosshair is going to be able to prove himself and we'll be we'll be on par with a happy family who has just one missing member. Yeah, I kind of hope that episode five kind of picks up from the moment where they met on the plane and kind of picks up from the end of this episode, because I want to see that fall out. I want to see what happens and how they
00:27:27
Speaker
move forward. I want to I want to hear those discussions. Right. Yes. Please do not skip over them. You already know, though, that next week we're going to go into the episode. And even if it picks up from that moment, there's still going to be something we're going to get a hemlock and Nala say cold open before we get to that point. There's going to be some sort of scene first before we get back to them. And the whole time we're going to be like, oh, fuck, we have to wait another week to figure out what happened next.
00:27:56
Speaker
Yeah, Emory is going to be like doing some tests and her and Hemlock are going to be like having a little chat. I'm a little worried about Nala say because she's like behind bars and Hemlock was questioning her and she was just like, I don't know what happened to.
00:28:11
Speaker
Omega and crosshair. Right. Oh, they escaped. How crazy. So I'm like, are they even going to keep her around? Right. Not being worried about Nala say. I know. I thought you said that your best friend, Kendra, we talked about her a few times here. You said that she's a Nala say stand. Can you explain on her behalf?
00:28:34
Speaker
She was just like, I love the way she talks. I love the way they move. I want her to just like read me a bedtime story. And I'm like, OK, that I could I could I could see.
00:28:45
Speaker
Well, and the best part about it was is, you know, we're doing Dark Disciple Book Club in my discord. And I was like, imagine her trying to read You Dark Disciple at night. And she's like, she could see him eyeing her derriere. And I'm like, like, that's what you want. That's what you want. OK. Let's see a little ASMR. I'm sure there's some sort of Kaminoan ASMR out there. Someone had to have done that.
00:29:14
Speaker
Who knows? Who knows? Yeah. I said this last time, but I think Nala Se is kind of, I'm in the same boat as you where it's like, do I care about Nala Se? Because I just always saw the Kaminoans as part of the evil plot of Palpatine that I guess I'd just never considered to be like, oh, maybe they're not so bad.
00:29:36
Speaker
So I'm learning here. I'm learning to humanize the Kaminoans, even if they may be a little different. I'm learning to not be prejudiced towards the Kaminoans. Justice, justice for the Kaminoans. 100 percent. Especially the old smoker one who was the senator of Kamino. I don't remember what her name is, but we saw her in season two and she's just a fucking gem. Yes, yes. I'm worried about everybody. It's like,
00:30:06
Speaker
The stakes here are really high compared to at least some of the other recent Star Wars projects. Like there are real stakes here. I don't think anyone's safe. And I think that's a big reason why they killed off tech last season or just tried, you know, had a major death

High Stakes and Future Uncertainties

00:30:22
Speaker
there. Because at this point, it's like, we don't know, you know, some of the other shows, it's like, oh, they're not going to kill off the main characters, the main group of characters. But with.
00:30:32
Speaker
this. It's like, we don't have any future stories with them. In fact, the future stories that would probably involve them don't have them. So it's like, what's going to happen? Nobody's safe. And so I'm liking that. And that's why I feel like the impact hits so much more when they're able to escape.
00:30:49
Speaker
And, you know, when Crosshair and Omega are forced to work together and the batch is back together, it's like these are real things to be excited about and worried about each week and stressing over and being excited over the next episode. I'm loving it. I don't know what the fuck. I just didn't expect the bad batch to be like one of my top Star Wars series from season one. But fuck it, I'm there.
00:31:15
Speaker
Yeah. And I mean, we've talked about this on previous episodes, but you and I both love Star Wars animation and season two was a real highlight. So I'm just glad that the season or the series has just continued to go up and up with its storytelling. It's been it's been really fun. And like you said, I did not expect from season one to be like, oh, I really love the bad batch like right.
00:31:38
Speaker
Yeah. You know, I'm a Clone Wars girl and I'm like, it's a sequel series, so I should love it. And now I feel like I'm getting to that point. Yeah. Yeah, it's fantastic. Stand out characters from these episodes are stand out characters. Do you have one that you want to go first? Yeah. But I am obsessed with the Stormtrooper in the poncho. Oh, I was there only one.
00:32:07
Speaker
I don't know if it was just one, but I love the Stormtrooper in the poncho. It was just so. I don't know. It's a good design. I just really liked that person. And I loved the little scream that they let out when the cargo ship blasted off and he got like hit with the ship's engines was like.
00:32:25
Speaker
Like it was really great. And we already talked about, you know, fallen order references with Zepho. Now we're going to poncho. Like I really liked the poncho storm trooper, but did you have a standout character or just a character you really liked?
00:32:41
Speaker
Yeah, I think for me, this episode is Batcher because I really liked the, like I said before, the dynamic between crosshair and Batcher and kind of crosshair being like, fuck this damn dog. We do not care to them being like, come on, we got to go save her. Well, I guess he wasn't that enthusiastic about it, but he was like,
00:33:02
Speaker
All right. Come on. Let's go save her. Like I know. And it was funny in that scene, too. You could just tell he was like, God damn it. Guess we're going to say fucking betcha. Yeah. Yeah. Well, from posting this, we're only going to have, what, two days to wait until the next episode of The Bad Batch. So until then, Scotty, why don't you send us out of here?
