But we both have very strong opinions about the lightsabers we love, the characters that wield the lightsabers we love.

Skywalker vs. Vader: Lightsaber Showdown

Let's get into it. This is the lightsaber lunacy, the battle of the Star Wars lightsabers. And we're going to start off with the classics.

The Skywalker lightsaber versus Darth Vader's lightsaber. So we have the lightsaber hilt that Anakin wielded, Luke wielded and Rey wielded the Skywalker lightsaber and then Darth Vader's lightsaber from the original trilogy.

I'm going to be honest, I'm such a ah fiend for the original. I love the Graflex lightsaber. Okay, for those of us who don't know hilts like you do, which one is the Graphlex lightsaber? The Graphlex lightsaber is Anakin's lightsaber, and they call it that because it comes from Graphlex camera flash hilt.

Mace Windu vs. Kylo Ren: Aesthetic Appeal

Moving on to the next round, we have two interesting characters, Mace Windu versus Kylo Ren.

And right off the bat, I'm not a huge fan of gold on lightsabers, but for me, Mace Windu. Interesting. I am inclined to agree with you, but also Kylo Ren. I love him as a character and I have to give it points because it's unique and new. It's so unique and new that it caused controversy from the first second it was released.

But. o See, I am a fan of gold on lightsabers, so you know what? Mace Windu wins. And keep in mind, Mace is also unique. He was the first purple. So yeah, very true.
Palpatine vs. Darksaber: Unique Blade Designs

All right. And for the next round, we have two very unique lightsaber designs, Palpatine's and the dark saber of the Mandalorians. This one is hard. ah I think it's going to be easy for you because I know that you don't like the gold and we make fun of the chode lightsaber that Palpatine has.

But I think his lightsaber design is elegant. I really like it. But at the same time, I don't know if it fits his character now that I think of it. So I'm to to go dark saber. Well, I'm going to screw this all up because i think the darksaber hilt is really ugly. really?

Yeah, the blade's super cool, but I hate the hilt. So i was thinking Palpatine, and I think it fits him perfectly for the persona he puts on. Yeah, but at the same time, it's like he's ah he's a Sith, right? So the persona he puts on is to cover up the Sith thing, like his cover-up. It's not like he's covering up as a Jedi, you know what I mean?

but I guess that's true. Yeah, I think i agree with you. I think Palpatine, i can I can I can. Thinking of the hilt, if we're just focusing on the hilt, for me, it's Palpatine. If it was blade included, then obviously Darksaber would probably take it because the blade's just so cool.

Kanan vs. Obi-Wan: Sleek vs. Classic

right, so this round is ah interesting when we have two characters that I feel like are kind of in similar paths on their journeys, or at least close ah with these two designs. So we've got Kanan Jarrus versus Obi-Wan from the Phantom Menace.

And this is a really hard one for me because I don't really love either of these designs. Interesting. ah um I really don't like. the like lightsabers with a lot of black on them going back to the Vader one. It always gives me kind of like toy because it's not metal, I guess. So for me, I guess I'll have to go with Kanan.

And I do really like the emitter on Kanan's saber. Yeah. See, the thing for me is I really love Kanan's lightsaber. I love the design. It looks very sleek. i also really am a fan of lightsabers that are unique and Kanan has a very unique color.

Obi-Wan's Phantom Menace lightsaber, probably my least favorite lightsaber in all of Star Wars. I can't lie. I hate the nub bullshit. So... Yeah, that's an easy one. All right, for our next one, we have the Temple Guard dual bladed lightsaber versus Ahsoka's two lightsabers from the Clone Wars.
Temple Guard vs. Ahsoka: Unique Designs

I'm not going to lie. I think Ahsoka's lightsabers are kind of boring in themselves. You know, it's cool that she has two lightsabers, but the design itself doesn't even compare to the very unique design that the Temple Guard lightsaber has.

You know, it's funny going back to last round. She kind of has that same nub that the Obi-Wan Phantom Menace lightsaber has on the end of hers. It's a lot more aesthetically pleasing on her sabers. And as much as I do like these sabers, you're right. They are very, they're not very intricate at all. They're very plain.

Ezra vs. Ben Solo: Innovation in Design

This round starts off with two characters and their Padawan stage. We've got Ezra Bridger from Rebel Season 1 and 2 versus Ben Solo. And i really like Ben Solo's lightsaber.

Ben Solo's for me. See, I hate thick lightsabers. I love Ben Solo, but his thick ass lightsaber does not work for me. It works much better when he has the cross guards, but this it's so big and fucking bulky. I'm just like, how does that work?

Whereas Ezra's lightsaber, It not only looks cool to me, it has an actual story to it because Ezra, as we know, is a very unconventional Jedi. And we know that Jedi do not use blasters. We know that from a New Hope, the very first movie, Obi-Wan hated blasters.

So the fact that he went from having this blaster lightsaber and then in later seasons having a regular lightsaber... I struggle so hard to accept that Ben Solo could win this round.

I mean, he's got to have a thick blade for his sexy big hands. So I guess it's not as thick as the Acolyte lightsabers and definitely not as thick as the ah Galaxy's Edge ones. I think it's just as thick as the Acolyte lightsabers. I think that when Leslie Hedlund was looking at lightsaber designs, she saw Ben Solo's. and it was that one That's the one.

they honestly looking at them side by side look very similar honestly i know unconventional jedi very true also maybe the best versions of jedi right so here's the thing ezra's lightsaber goes through two phases there's the one from rebels which i really like because it has like that kind of cool emitter that luke's lightsaber from return of the jedi has the very thin neck and i'm a big fan of that But Sabine adds this big, cute, bulky fucking ugly piece to the lightsaber.

i I, really like Ezra's lightsaber, but mentioning the piece about the emitter, you're right. I do like his emitter before Sabine takes over the lightsaber and Qui-Gon for the nostalgia of it all. Yeah. I mean, when this, when episode one came out, I was obsessed with Qui-Gon and I, I had this lightsaber. Hell yeah. so and this is the only one that has the black that looks good.

This is rude. um ah So we have ah two of my favorite characters pinned up against each other. We've got Asajj Ventress's lightsabers from the Clone Wars versus Ahsoka Tano's Rebels and Ahsoka series lightsabers.

and funny enough as much as i love both of these characters it's so easy for me it's got to be ahsoka's lightsabers i'm kind of mentioning the thickness with ventris it's got those black accents which you know i don't love either and i'm just i don't know the reveal of ahsoka's new lightsabers and rebels and not even the white blade the white blade's super fun and exciting and new but the design of it being less cylindrical and kind of more flat i don't know it just really worked for me Yeah. And, you know, Dave Filoni, he uses samurai a lot for inspiration with Ahsoka, you know, samurai film, samurai aesthetics.

Count Dooku, what the fuck? Like it's the curved tilt. It's rounded. i love that design and it it's cool how it ties into not only Dooku's ability to fight, but also Christopher Lee. He was a fencer.

So, you know, he was part of that whole design. malls lightsaber to me so basic it's just regular and if you look at the prequel lightsabers literally every single lightsaber is fucking based on this design right here and so every jedi member or jedi council member has like the same lightsaber just like reversed i also don't understand why there's so many buttons on it yeah um So yeah, I'm going to agree. I've got to go with Dooku. I think my only complaint about Dooku is just that giant like button to turn it on.

I mean, looking at it now, like it's cool. It has those fucking things at the end, the pikes or whatever. But Luke's lightsaber is so iconic. And as I said before, that thin bottleneck um cap that they have on these lightsabers like Obi Wan's saber, Luke's saber.

Gungi vs. Cal Kestis: Wooden Elegance vs. Bulkiness
