Introduction and Trade Deadline Preview

00:00:14
Speaker
What is up, Gold Line listeners? We are back with a special midweek edition of the Gold Line. We wanted to let the dust settle on the trade deadline. So we're recording on Tuesday night instead of our usual Monday. And we just want to make sure that we were recording on a clear night when there was absolutely nothing else of historical significance happening.
00:00:34
Speaker
Yeah, what's going on with you, man? I mean, nothing of any other significance is happening tonight. So that's good. But yeah, it was a good week of football. And there were some trades that happened at the deadline. But overall, NFL trade deadline doesn't hold a candle to NBA or MLB.
00:00:52
Speaker
Yeah, I think it's just a lot of that has to do with just the nature of football, man. Every once in a while, dude, you get somebody like a Christian McCaffrey that moves at the trade deadline. That's a real big difference maker. But it's a cliche, but it's really true. And they say football is the ultimate team sport. And it's just a whole different level of challenge, integrating somebody mid-season. It's really kind of almost shocking to me how much D-hops are you doing with the Chiefs? Yeah.
00:01:18
Speaker
I mean, I knew he'd fit in there and he definitely has. So yeah, it just, it takes a while for these new players to get integrated. Ari was asking about like why the trade deadlines this early and stuff. And I'm like, I mean, they got to make sure these players are integrated with their team. So it's tough.
00:01:35
Speaker
Yeah, the and the other thing that the NFL players, you know, the league wanted to push the trade deadline back, but NFL players know they're not guaranteed contracts anyways. So that was kind of like a big bargaining point for them. They did not want the later trade deadline because, you know, that's these guys still got lives and families and stuff and everything. And I think stability is a big part of making a team. You know, you don't get kicked to another team with like five weeks up in the season where you barely even have a chance to kind of establish yourself. You know, you're almost like a disposable asset to them at that point.
00:02:03
Speaker
Yeah, it's tough. All right.

Team Performances and Playoff Outlooks

00:02:07
Speaker
Quick housekeeping. I want to remind you guys, the Arlington Tigers, we finished the season undefeated, winning 31-6 in our last game of the season. We're heading to the playoffs, man. The playoffs start tomorrow night. We're playing a team that we beat 34-6 in the regular season. Brett had to pick six against them.
00:02:25
Speaker
You know, as long as we handle our business, it should be smooth sailing to the second round. But yes, if you guys are out there listening prior to Wednesday night about 6 p.m. Eastern or 6 p.m. Central, make sure you guys toss some good vibes our way. Jordan, you got any housekeeping notes before we dive into this weekend football? No, I think we're good, man.
00:02:50
Speaker
All right, let's start with some college football. We'll obviously start with the Huskers. This season has just completely fucking derailed at this point. I don't know what else to say, man. Losing to a bad UCLA team is just on your home field is absolutely embarrassing.
00:03:10
Speaker
I don't know. I just, I do not have the same good vibes I had even three weeks ago about this team. It's just, it's all gone, man. They were five and one, now they're five and four. Got to buy this week and then they go to USC. It's just, it's not good. Are you selling off your, your Riola stock? No, I'm not selling it off. They need a better offensive coordinator. The offensive coordinator is doing him no favors, but
00:03:36
Speaker
I mean, still got to play better. Like there's no excuse for losing to UCLA. That's just, that's not a good football team. So yeah, it's, uh, Oh man. I felt like they were really on their way to a nice season, man. A couple, you know, about three or four weeks ago when we were discussing it, but it's gone down downhill, uh, pretty rapidly, man. So hopefully they turned around and you can get, you know, the arrow pointed up for the season ends, but it's not looking good in, uh, in, in cord land. No, not good at all. Um,
00:04:06
Speaker
Vols on the other hand, they handled business. They didn't look great at times. You even texted me, you're like, there's a game they're going to lose. And I'm like, dude, they're going to win. There's, I just, I think that team is just fucking good. I'm not saying start, if they could get a half decent first half of football, they'd be great, man, but they're just, they're a slow starting team, man, but they definitely are.
00:04:27
Speaker
you know, they show a lot of grit, they play great in the second half. And the defense is just really freaking awesome. Do you like you think balls, you think Josh Hypell office, you know, you got the flashy Nico quarterback, you think this is going to be like a high flying team? No, this is like a smash mouth football team. Yeah, the beginning of the season, this is not what I thought Tennessee was. They're just they play good defense, they they run the ball. Well, the problem is, dude,
00:04:56
Speaker
when it comes to playing like the bigger teams, I just I don't know if they can sustain that against like Georgia or Ohio State or teams like that. Like I just, I don't know, man, I thought that team, I really thought this team was like an actual, I mean, they're still a title contender because they're in the top 10, but
00:05:16
Speaker
I just, I don't know if that's like a sustainable method against the better teams. You know what I mean? Like they're, they're definitely in the second group of contenders. I don't think they're, they're not on the fringes of the playoffs, man. I think they're a solid playoff team, but they're definitely not up there with, you know, the Ohio States, the organs of the world, man. It's a, uh, uh, you know, I think this game against Georgia man is going to be a big one that tells us a lot. Yeah.

College Football Playoff Bracket Analysis

00:05:41
Speaker
Um, let's talk about, we got the first playoff, uh, bracket today, tonight, they re they revealed the top 12 teams. So, uh, at one, we got Oregon, no surprise. Georgia's two, no surprise there. Miami three, uh, BYU four. So, I mean, that's why you, that's your four buys as of right now. I, I keep, I mean, there's nothing to really argue about there. That's the team on top of their conferences. So.
00:06:10
Speaker
Who's the weakest of those at EMA and BYU in Miami? Because I think I would actually take BYU against my I do not. I'm not that impressed. I do not like Miami, dude. They fall behind so much every game. It's going to bite them. It's great. But but yeah, man, I do not think that you know, James is probably like our buddy James Mosley, huge Kane's fans, probably punched in the air hearing us say this, dude. But I think they're pretenders, man, all the way. I see them going one and done. They may they very well may finish up undefeated for the regular season, but I see them get bounced first playoff game.
00:06:40
Speaker
Yeah. Um, you got Ohio state at five, even though they're ranked number two, just cause Oregon is the number one seed, which is wild dude, two big 10 teams on top of the rankings. Who would have fucking thought, uh, and the conference champs are guaranteed to get the top four seeds. So you're only ever going to, any, any, basically each conference is only going to get one by there. You're not going to have to buy. So those are the buys. Then you got Ohio state at five playing number 12 Boise state.
00:07:06
Speaker
That'd be a fun game. You got the 8-9 matchup. Tennessee would be the home team against Indiana. I like that, dude. I like that matchup, man. That'd be a good game, dude. I like that. Indiana's tough, man. Indiana is legit. But I don't know if they're a legit contender, dude. I think they're a legit top 20. I think they're a legit top 15 team. We're about to find out in two weeks, dude. They play at Ohio State. So we'll find out a lot about that team in two weeks. Yeah. And they don't even need to win. They just need to play competitive, man. Yeah.
00:07:35
Speaker
Uh, the 11 six matchup right now is Alabama at Texas. That'd be fun.
00:07:41
Speaker
And then your 10 seven matchup, um, I'm going to yawn at this one Notre Dame at Penn state. Jesus Christ. I can see the 13 to 10 finish from here, man. I can see disgusting football. Um, also cool though. Um, somebody put out like what the projected lines would be for those first four games. So they have Texas has a seven and a half point favorite. They have Penn state at three and a half Tennessee at six and a half and Ohio state at 17 and a half.
00:08:10
Speaker
Interesting. I thought that was kind of cool that they put that out. Yeah. I wonder if you can go and you probably wouldn't want to bet on that, right? Because then you'd have to hope that that matchup actually stays. Well, they would just have to cancel the bet because if it doesn't get played, they just cancel. So they're not going to do that. Okay. Let's talk about, uh, do you have anything else you want to talk about in college football? I just, I thought this was just kind of a normal week. I mean, there wasn't really a ton. There was a lot of upsets and stuff, but.
00:08:38
Speaker
nothing that affected the really top of the rankings. Yeah, I agree. Okay, let's talk about our NFL teams.

NFL Surprises and Skepticism

00:08:46
Speaker
We'll start with the Falcons.
00:08:49
Speaker
They keep winning, even though I don't think they look impressive. And everybody keeps telling me, dude, it does not matter. They're playing good football. They're winning the games they should. They're beating the teams that they should. That's all you should be focused on. I get it, but also in the back of my head, I just keep thinking, when is the other shoe going to drop for this team? And they're just going to go to shit.
00:09:11
Speaker
I don't think they are, dude. I think they're legit, man. I watched a lot of football and I watched a lot of Falcons football over the years, man. This is a good team, dude. And the good thing is the rest of the NFC South is crumbling a little bit, man. So I don't think they're going to... They need to really pile it on and try to get one seed or at least get the two seed. That way you know you're guaranteed to get that divisional playoff game at home if you handle your business. Well, they need to go four and four
00:09:37
Speaker
Uh, the rest of the way to win the NFC South. And then that would require the bucks to go seven and one, which I don't see happening, or it would require the Panthers to go eight. No, new Orleans is already out of the running for the division. So it'd be interesting. Um, but yeah, I mean, overall they handled business at home against a team that's floundering. The Cowboys are not good. That's a bad football team.
00:10:02
Speaker
It's nuts just how far they've fallen in the last, the last year, man, just some serious decay on that roster. They haven't had any, I mean, they're banged up, but they haven't had any like critical, you know, out for the season type injuries, man. It's just, the team has just fallen off. What are they going to do is the problem.
00:10:20
Speaker
Like, dude, they got to move. Yeah. They can't do anything. Like there's nothing they can do. I mean, they got Dak and CD locked up for the next five years and that's taken up the majority or cap and they still got to pay Parsons. I got, what the fuck is that team going to do? They're going to have three guys, three guys and a bunch of draft picks, but you undrafted three. At this point, I think they got to let Parsons go. Like you can't just take up all your cap space on three guys. Like the team's not good. The rest of that team is bad.
00:10:51
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I don't know, dude, I, the salary caps definitely still a thing. I feel like teams can always find a way to wheeze a lot of, you know what I mean? The Saints are paying the Piper for it now, but I feel like the Saints kicked the can on the salary cap for about a decade there. Yeah, but now, you know, keeping a contender on the field. Now they got, you see what it looks like. Yeah. Now they got to eat all this dead cap and they're just fucked now. And now they have a terrible quarterback and,
00:11:13
Speaker
Yeah, that's not good. Um, let's talk about the Titans. Uh, a team that you said would not win another game this season and goes against you and wins. They did their best man. They did their bet. And the Patriots would have just nutted up and went for two at the end of regulation, dude. I think they would have won. I don't know how you don't did you got a rookie quarterback? You're on the road. Why not just go for two after you get that crazy Hail Mary play? Like how are you not confident that you can punch it in from two yards after you see Drake may make a play like that, man? Yeah, I don't.
00:11:44
Speaker
The two point conversion thing, like weets me and you text a little bit about it last night. I just, I don't understand what these teams are doing. Like Tampa should have went for two last night. I just, I don't get it, man. I just, there's
00:11:59
Speaker
It's just kind of nutless, you know? The thing is, you know you're only going to be in that kind of situation, like, you know, maybe not even the whole season, but at most two or three times, dude. So, dude, get your offensive coordinator, cook up two or three, just straight up money plays, like, can't miss that, you know, you don't run them at all the rest of the season, so nobody's got any film on them, they don't know what's coming.
00:12:18
Speaker
and punching it from the two yard line to win a game. I feel like that's just almost, unless you've got Patrick Mahomes, dude, I feel like that's always gonna give you your highest chance of winning. And I get it. You can lose it on that play too, right? If you're in a down by one type situation. So I get it. Maybe you just don't wanna make a decision where one of the outcomes is you can lose, but dude, the other thing is, the other outcome of it is you can win. You know what I mean? There's no way you're guaranteeing victory by going to overtime. You can guarantee victory on some of these two point conversion plays, man.
00:12:48
Speaker
Yeah, dude, that's the thing, especially last night. I mean, when me and you were texting, like, there's no way I would risk getting, giving the ball back to Kansas city. Like, dude, just try to win it at that point. I know that we're going to get the ball back with 27 seconds left, but dude, just, you got to go for the win. You cannot rely on your defense to stop Patrick moms. Like how many times does this have to happen until people realize like,
00:13:12
Speaker
It's not gonna happen, you know, yeah your defense, you know played I mean they gave up some points dude But they kept it, you know, they kept it within punching distance, right? They kept it close for four quarters on a muggy wet night down in Tampa, dude And then you know, you're gonna send them out there dude deadass tired to try to stop Andy Reid in that offense one last time It's just it's not happening again was in Kansas City by the way Yeah
00:13:37
Speaker
It was raining though, dude. I thought rain was a lot of rain in my mind. I was thinking it was back in Tampa, but yeah, in KC. Okay. Let's, uh, since today was a trade deadline, let's just go over the final 2024 trade

NFL Trade Deadline Recap and Impact

00:13:50
Speaker
tally. This is straight from Adam Schefter. So, uh, Marshawn Lattimore went to the commanders. That's a great trade for the commanders. They need to go all in and I'm glad they are.
00:14:01
Speaker
Uh, Devontae Adams obviously went to the jets, DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas city, and Mark Cooper to Buffalo. Deontae Johnson to Baltimore. Mike Williams to Pittsburgh. Preston Smith to Pittsburgh. Zadaria Smith to Detroit in the worst kept secret for the last week. Khalil Davis to San Francisco. Jonathan Mingo to Dallas. Dallas paid a fourth round pick to get a receiver who has not even been able to stay on the field in a year that they're just not going to win anything. Fucking stupid.
00:14:29
Speaker
uh josh yeah i don't know what the i don't know what the motivation at all was for that that was a stupid move josh uchi to the chiefs cam robinson to the vikings tradavius white to the ravens baron browning to the cardinals cam acres to the vikings kaleel herbert to the bangles earnest jones of seattle roy robertson harris to seattle and jerome baker to tennessee that is your final tally of trade deadline moves
00:14:55
Speaker
I think, uh, Lattimore to the commanders is definitely the most significant one, both just, as far as a quality player and being an addition to a team that's really kind of, you know, getting the mojo rolling right now. Um, they're, they're going to be a force dude. Obviously, Detroit's getting all the love. They're playing the best in the NFL right now.
00:15:13
Speaker
but, uh, you know, Dan Quinn knows how to, to motivate men. They got a rookie quarterback who has got a little bit of magic to him. And yeah, man, I think there's, you know, there's a world out there where we ended up seeing the commanders with the rookie QB playing in the super bowl this year. Yeah, I just, I mean, I'm not saying it's 100% going to happen, but I mean, they gotta go for it. You know, it's like the team is,
00:15:37
Speaker
The team is there like they got a good enough team and we talked about it before the season. Dan Quinn knows how to get those guys fired up and they are definitely fired up to play football. So you can just never take this stuff for granted to you when you start to get a season going like this where it feels like we really got something because.
00:15:53
Speaker
You just never know, man. It's so fleeting and the windows closed so quickly in NFL. Look at like the Seahawks, dude. Like, yeah, they had a prolonged run of relevancy, but, you know, they won the Super Bowl in Russell Wilson second year. And dude, you felt like we're going to be seeing these guys, you know, in like Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, you know, we're going to be seeing these guys in four or five, six Super Bowls over the next 10 to 15 years. But, you know, they made it back the very next year and then they never got back to the Super Bowl, man.
00:16:19
Speaker
It's a, you just, you really gotta go. I'm with you, man. You gotta go all in. Like the year the Rams did when they got Stafford, dude, like they're going and grabbing Vaughn Miller, grabbing Odell Beckham. Like if you gotta, if you think you can do it, do it. Cause the, it's, if you win the super bowl, it's all going to be worth it. Whether you end up in cap hell or whatever long-term success you sacrifice, man. If you somehow are able to add a Lombardi trophy, it's always worth it. No matter what you did. Agreed. Yeah. So yeah, not much to talk about on the trade front, but
00:16:48
Speaker
Let's talk about this week in the NFL.

Challenges Facing the Chicago Bears

00:16:50
Speaker
Um, I, I'm not putting this in any order. We're just going to start here. Let's start with the bears. Um, the, it feels like that team is quitting on, uh, Matt Eberfluis. Uh, they, they posted a stat that Matt Eberfluis is three and 17 on the road and his head coaching career. And he has never won a road game on a Sunday.
00:17:14
Speaker
Yeah, we, we've been calling the Bears pretenders all season long, dude. Like it's just, I think it's worse than what we were saying though. Their offensive line is literally an absolute sit. They can't block anybody, dude. I mean, we'll never find out if Caleb Williams is good or not behind that offensive line. Like there's just no way to see what they are.
00:17:35
Speaker
Um, it's very bad in Chicago right now. We're going to save the lions and Packers for last, obviously. Cause I feel like that was the best game of the week, but we have not talked about this team much at all. And I feel like we definitely need to, the bills are now seven and two the season that me and you are at our, I mean, you had them in the playoffs. I didn't, but we were, this is the lowest we've ever been going into a season on the bill since we started talking football, uh, on podcasts.
00:18:01
Speaker
Dude, they're good, man. They don't turn the ball over. That's the biggest thing. Like I feel like that was always Josh Allen's biggest gripe about him was that he couldn't hold onto the ball. Like you would throw picks in bad situations. Well, I mean, now that he stopped doing that, this team looks really good.
00:18:18
Speaker
I'm right there with you, dude. I think they could totally go, man. Obviously, they're not going to have any fear of the Chiefs, dude. They know what that heartbreak feels like. They've lost to the Chiefs in Kansas City. They've lost to them in Buffalo, man. So they're not going to be afraid playing those guys. I think they could totally go toe to toe with the Ravens in the playoffs, man. I think Josh Allen's built for January football a little bit more than Lamar Jackson. So I'm right there with you, dude. I think they're probably just below the Chiefs and Ravens for the top contenders in the AFC right now.
00:18:48
Speaker
Yeah, they're they're playing really good ball and their defense is way better than their defense is way better than what I thought it was going to be. So yeah, it's been interesting. Let's talk about we don't need to talk about the camp. Oh, the Panthers beating the Saints. I did not hear anybody saying that. And yeah, it's that was wild.
00:19:13
Speaker
I was cracking up. I saw cam Jordan throw out a tweet, basically like apologizing to saints fans that they lost to the Panthers. If you're the Panthers, you got to be like, what the hell do you wear? Where are we catching straight? We've only got a good, you know, had a nice solid victory as a team. And that's, you know, that's now like the rock bottom moment for NFL teams is when they lose to the Panthers. Dude, I, I obviously retweeted cam Jordan. I was like, fuck the saints fans. They deserve all of this.
00:19:39
Speaker
Yeah, screw the Saints, dude. I have no sympathy for them. Dude, what about Derek Carr? Just absolutely getting all of his receivers annihilated. Chris Olave has got like mashed potatoes for a brain at this point. I just I hate Michael Thomas, but him absolutely going in on Derek Carr on Twitter was hilarious. Like he just driving around just asking random New Orleans natives what they think of Derek Carr, dude. Like, yeah, he's bad. He's very bad.
00:20:07
Speaker
Um, okay. Let's talk about lions and Packers, dude. If you wanted me to stop glazing this team, it was just, it's not going to happen. The lions are for real, man. You can definitely tell that they are out for vengeance this year and they keep doing it every week, dude. And you talked about it last week, like watching the locker room videos after and watching Dan Quinn.
00:20:33
Speaker
It just seems like that team is just completely on the same page. They know what they expect from each other and they're just doing it. It's cool to watch, man. It's cool to watch a team connect this much.
00:20:46
Speaker
every time you glaze them dude the the nfl gods are putting like one more little beat on their abacus slid over to the heartbreak side dude like i'm telling you man i could see it clear as day dude the detroit lions are going to lose the nfc championship game on their home field man i i could just i could see it dude jared golf's gonna toss like three picks
00:21:07
Speaker
They're going to make a late run and Dan Campbell is going to, you know, go for it on fourth down or go for two for the win. Like we were just talking about or something, dude. And they ended up freaking going down in flames, man. I just, I can see it clear as a bell from here. Dude, I just don't see it, man. I get what you're saying. Like history has showed us that that's what the lions are going to do. But I just, they're not playing close games right now. They did somebody, a team would have to play them close for that to even be a thing at this point.
00:21:32
Speaker
I do they just run the ball so fucking well and Jared golf just takes care of the ball and
00:21:39
Speaker
The defense really, I'm sure they're missing him, but if they're missing Hutchinson, it hasn't showed up that much yet, man. Well, and not to mention, they just got Zadaria Smith today. That's going to put a back end for him. But dude, there's a couple of things I want to talk about from this game. In the last six games, the Lions have scored 28 touchdowns while Jared Goff has only had 24 incompletions. That's nuts, dude. That is an insane stat.
00:22:07
Speaker
Dude, it is also the other question. What the fuck were the Packers doing keeping Jordan love in that game? Then the game like he was clearly hurt. You could tell his hamstring was really bothering him. Yeah. I don't think we've seen him at 100% since week one this season. They were not going to win that game. The fourth quarter started. There was no chance they were winning that game, dude. Yeah. Detroit was just on another level. So I just I don't get it.
00:22:33
Speaker
Yeah, it didn't seem smart, especially when, you know, Malik Willis has looked totally competent as a Packer. Yeah, just it's, it's a weird thing that they just kept him out there and kept playing. I don't get it, man. It's just, it's absolutely wild to me that do some of these coaching decisions by these teams. That's really it for news from the NFL unless you've got anything. Uh, no, man. I mean, we're halfway through with the season, dude. Do you want to go ahead and run through some awards? Yeah, we can.
00:23:03
Speaker
Who do you got for, we'll just do the big ones, man. We'll do MVP and coach of the year so far. We'll save rookie. Cause I think Jayden Daniels is obviously right away with it on offense. And do you got to stand out for defensive rookie due? Cause I'm like, I'd have to get in and just start crunching some numbers here. There's nobody that like jumps to the front of my brain for, for defensive rookie of the year so far.
00:23:25
Speaker
No, nobody that really hasn't been a stand. I'm sure there's some guys out there doing their things that aren't just getting a ton of press, man. But nobody's definitely jumping out as like a rookie sensation, you know, like a like a sauce gardener or something like that. We'll go. We'll go coach of the year, man. Who's your coach of the year so far?
00:23:43
Speaker
I gotta go Dan Quinn, dude. Same, bro. DQ, baby. Let's go. Who else can you pick right now? I mean, dude, what he's doing is unheard of right now. I don't know how you could pick someone else at this point.
00:23:57
Speaker
If Andy Reid goes undefeated, you know, you still got him. Yeah, but that's, I kind of like getting it to the turn. I've always, I've always leaned towards giving coach of the year to the guy who engineers a big turnaround more so than just, you know, the coach of the best. It's Andy Reid and they're on the verge of a three-peat. He's not winning coach of the year, dude. Like they're going to give it to someone else.
00:24:16
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Coach of the Year is hugely, is a big narrative driven award for sure. Who's your pick for MVP so far? Dude, I don't even think it's close, right? I think Lamar is runaway MVP right now. He's way ahead of what he was doing last year when he won MVP.
00:24:32
Speaker
I mean, I get it. Like someone's always going to say someone else, but like, I guess you could put up, uh, Jared golf and my homes in there and burrow, but the best players on the best teams are going to be up there. Burrow's putting up crazy stats, man. Burrow may be working on a.
00:24:48
Speaker
Yeah, Josh Allen tube, uh, Joe burrow may be working on the, uh, the rare, you know, offensive player of the year on a losing team type deal. If the thing was ending today, I think MVP and offensive player of the year, both come to the Ravens. I think Derek Henry would get it if the season ended today, dude.
00:25:04
Speaker
I was going to say, dude, I think Lamar Jackson's biggest competition for MVP might be in his backfield, dude. Derek Henry has been so amazing for that team, man. You definitely got a little bit of a chicken and an egg situation on if it's been Derek Henry that's elevated Lamar to a whole other level or vice versa. I think the two of them just compliment each other so well, dude. It's freaking Reese's peanut butter and chocolate, man. Dude, Derek Henry is fucking good. I think people forgot about it.
00:25:30
Speaker
Yeah, I think people just ready to write them off you know because dude all the signs are there he's an old old running back ton of miles on those tires and going to a new team like we've seen this so many times over the years and it almost never ever pays off did you know never works out think about like the Daniel Thompson going to the Jets you know Stephen Jackson going to the Falcons.
00:25:49
Speaker
But this time, dude, it's for real, man. It's been so much fun to watch. I'm rooting for Derek Henry, man. I still don't like the Ravens, but I would not be mad at it if Derek Henry finally got himself a Super Bowl ring because he's damn sure earned it with his NFL career so far. No doubt. All right, you ready to go into uni watch? Yep, let's do it. Actually, my bad. Let's do college picks first.
00:26:30
Speaker
They told me bust out my AP, perfect timing Got them baguettes up on my neck, I stay shining It's never hot around my jury, change the climate
00:26:42
Speaker
All right, we got an extended cut of Shador perfect timing there with how I had to get the soundboard set up for the uni watch man I know you were feeling that Jordan. Hmm. Yeah feeling it All right, let's go to our college our ranked game so we got George has got a big one dude against Ole Miss man, you know Ole Miss definitely
00:27:04
Speaker
A little bit in desperation mode, dude. Do you think that they find a way to knock off Georgia who's gotten some seriously shaky play from their quarterback last few weeks?
00:27:14
Speaker
I don't think Ole Miss is that good, though, is the problem. They're not. They're definitely not, man, but they're just โ€“ I'm looking at it. It's in Oxford. You know they're going to be fired up, dude, and Ole Miss is playing for their playoff life, dude. If they lose, they're definitely done, whereas if they win, I think they're right back in the mix for one of those last couple spots. Nah, Georgia wins.
00:27:35
Speaker
Yeah, I think they probably get in and handle their business, dude. Look at the numbers for the QBs, though, dude. Carson Beck, 17 touchdowns, 11 interceptions. Jackson Dart, 21 touchdowns, three interceptions, man. Oh, Carson Beck has been godawful this season. I've never seen a draft stock deplete as much as I've watched his deplete this year. It's bad.
00:27:56
Speaker
Yeah, Ole Miss, they just, they need to do what they can to turn this thing into a shootout as quickly as possible, man. Cause I'm not sure Georgia would hang with him. Georgia's only a two and a half point favorite in this one, man. Is that surprising to you? No, I mean, it's an away game in the SEC. I mean, and Ole Miss is still a good team. They're top 25, but yeah, they're not good.
00:28:17
Speaker
All right, other than that, we got the big one. This is definitely a loser leaves town match, dude. Saturday night in Death Valley, we got number 11 Alabama at LSU. Like I said, dude, I don't think there's any way a three team, a three loss team is getting in the playoffs. So this one is, you know, it is basically a playoff game, dude. I think this is probably the first true playoff game we've had so far, this college football season, man.
00:28:42
Speaker
I think LSU gets it done, dude. I think it's at home, they're going to be fired up, dude. Alabama has just, you know, they're still a great, great team. Don't get me wrong, man. This is what we're talking about against the standard that Nick Saban set over the last 15 years there. They seem shaky, right? Compared to that standard. And I just, I don't think they're going to be able to get it done on the road against LSU Saturday night.
00:29:05
Speaker
I think them getting a bi-week last week was huge for them. I think they needed that bi-week playing Tennessee. I mean, dude, their schedule was brutal. I mean, starting on September 28, they play, played Georgia. They went to Vanderbilt and lost. That's a brutal loss. And they played South Carolina to a two point win. Then had to go to Knoxville and play Tennessee in a really good game. Then blew out number 21, Missouri at the time.
00:29:28
Speaker
And now they got to buy a week and they play at LSU. I just don't think LSU is that good, man. It's just another one of those things. Like I, I'm going to go Alabama by default. I think if Alabama wins this game, they don't lose again this season. As far as regular season, they got Mercer, Oklahoma, and Auburn left.
00:29:46
Speaker
I think they run the... How are they playing Mercer this late into the season? I hate SEC scheduling, dude. Every SEC team gets one cupcake at the end. Tennessee still plays UTEP. It's so stupid. At least UTEP's 1A, dude. At least that's a division 1A school. Yeah, barely. They're 1 and 8. I'm sure it's like a community college, dude. Yeah, they're 1 and 8, but yeah, it's not good.
00:30:12
Speaker
Yeah. All right, let's go to Uniwatch for real this time.
00:30:45
Speaker
All right. Three teams this week for the union watch start off in college. We got the vols rock in the dark mode, black jerseys. What'd you think of these Saturday night, Jordan? I'm not a fan. I just we talked about this last week. I just I prefer them to wear their classic unis. We don't we don't need the blackout for Tennessee.
00:31:06
Speaker
Yeah, I appreciate like the, we talked about last year too, the rollout was super cool, which, you know, Bragg was really, really into it, which kind of, that gave me more of a soft spot to it. I'm with you though, dude. It feels like a black jersey for a black jersey's sake. And the other thing that's weird about it is it's so similar to those Smokey Mountain alternates that they rocked earlier this year, which I think are infinitely cooler than these, dude. I think those Smokey Mountain jerseys are really, really cool compared to these, which is just a black and orange Tennessee jersey. Yeah, they're fine.
00:31:36
Speaker
All right, we saw the Packers for the second time this season rocking some different throwbacks. These were all green with the yellow helmet. It's kind of a weird look, man. Yeah. I don't love these jerseys. They've worn them quite a few times and I still don't love them. But I mean, just kind of is what it is. Again, like a lot of these unis are just kind of mad to me at this point.
00:31:59
Speaker
Just have an excuse to sell some more merch, man. Exactly. Did see the Eagles bring back the 90s style Kelly Green jerseys and everybody loves these and these do look really, really cool. I like these compared to the Eagles, you know, normal jerseys, man, even though they're normal jerseys, pretty dang sweet too.
00:32:14
Speaker
I just texted you a picture, Jordan. There's another Kelly Green Eagles jersey. So those ones they wore on Sunday were a tribute to the 80s and 90s Eagles. Back in around the 2010, 2011, they were wearing some jerseys that were from the 50s for the Eagles. So they don't got the actual Eagle logo. They just got the number on the sleeve. And I thought these were freaking awesome, dude, with the black cleats and the all green socks. Man, I sent a picture of Mike Vick in them from the 2010 season. I prefer that Kelly Green jersey if I'm getting super picky on my Eagles stuff.
00:32:44
Speaker
Yeah. We talked about these last year and yeah, I'm, I'm in the same boat as you. They're, they're both cool though. These are really good jerseys. I mean, you're just kind of splitting hairs at this point.
00:32:53
Speaker
Yeah, Eagles got top to bottom, probably one of the best sets of uniforms in the NFL. They're really kind of bulletproof, man. How about Saquon doing the backwards hurdle? How insane was that, dude? That was probably one of the most incredible things I think I've ever seen in a game in my life. And let's not take anything away from the spin move he did right before that. Yeah, it was like something like if they
00:33:16
Speaker
If you saw that in like a video game, you would be like, oh, well, that's just like the little like, you know, opening video. There's no way you could actually do that in the game, dude. Right. It looked like something from like The Matrix or like a John Woo movie, man. Yeah, he did it in a game. It was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. It was absolutely incredible. So.
00:33:33
Speaker
How much confidence do you got to have to bust out the backwards hurdle in the game? So much could have gone wrong on that, dude. That's like an ultimate heat check in football, dude. That's the equivalent of Steph pulling up from the logo on just a regular possession up court, man. Well, we had never seen it, so I didn't know what that was going to look like until now, and it was incredible.
00:33:58
Speaker
I don't really know what else is good. If we got any high school athletes listening, don't try that in the game, dude. I guarantee you, he's worked on that one before in practice, dude. That's not one you're going to just bust out and prompt, dude. I could just see somebody getting Brock Lesnar German suplex trying to do that, dude. That was nuts, though. I'm glad he did it, man. That's one that we're going to be seeing in highlight packages and stuff for years. I agree. Yeah, it was really cool. All right, you ready to get into week 10 picks? Let's do it.
00:34:43
Speaker
All right, man, we got we're officially halfway through the season, nine weeks down, nine weeks left to go. How did we do last week? So, good lord, dude, you absolutely crushed it. So you have 14 and one this weekend. Let's go. I went 11 and four.
00:34:59
Speaker
14 and one man, not bad, dude. The only game you mess with Houston on Thursday night. Really? Yeah. Wow. It's always good to go for Sunday and Monday. Nailed it, huh? Yep. All right. Let's get into our week 10 slate. Opening up, we got Thursday night pretty good. Thursday night game, man, Bengals and the Ravens in Baltimore.
00:35:25
Speaker
I watched Cincinnati again on Sunday. Their defense is still an issue for me. I'm going to go Ravens just because I think they are the better team and it's in. I'd love to pick the Bengals. You guys know there are my preseason AFC champion pick and I still think there are miles better than that four and five record shows man, but. I there's just no way I can pick him on a short weekend. Baltimore dude. I think Derek Henry East this week man and and they send the Bengals to four and six. It'll still be a good game though. I think it's going to be a really good game.
00:35:56
Speaker
Little payback for World War two. We got the Giants and the Panthers in Germany on Sunday morning, which the Giants are actually like a bad good team. I think they're actually they got a little bit of scrap to a man and the Panthers You know have looked at least functional dude. I think the Giants get it done though. Yeah Giants win this game
00:36:15
Speaker
Giants are five and a half point favorites, despite both teams have the same record. So yeah, I think everybody could see the Giants have been playing pretty decent football here recently. Broncos and Chiefs in Kansas City, Casey's eight point favorite. I see this one being close, man, just because close games are what the Chiefs do nowadays. And the Broncos, it's another team that's been playing, you know, they, up until Sunday, they had been playing pretty good football, man. They got their ass kicked Sunday, but I think the Broncos do play them close, but I think the Chiefs get to nine and freaking out, man.
00:36:45
Speaker
Yeah, chief win, but I agree. They just keep playing these close games like they're doing the exact opposite of what the Lions are doing. Like they're winning, but it's like not impressive and it's not.
00:36:58
Speaker
I don't know. It's just not like, you know what I mean? You know what I'm trying to say here. It's just, yeah, they're, they're playing. It seems like they just played to the level of your competition every week, man. Like you feel like if they played the lions or if they played the Panthers, like the game would look about the same. It's going to come down to, uh, you know, the last couple of possessions and see how it shakes out. There we go. I knew I could count on you to, to bring it up with what I was trying to say. I could not grasp what I was trying to say there. I'm like,
00:37:25
Speaker
But yeah they're like i said we need to work on a lot is sometimes you don't get your time time your brain just kind of disconnect from your mouth for a sec but yeah i think they're just that's where they're at and i don't know if it's just they're not quite as overpowering there's a band or their pace themselves to the playoffs but.
00:37:40
Speaker
You know, they still win it every game and you felt, I felt like even last night, dude, even as the bucks like are scoring to send to OT, I never had a doubt in my mind they were winning, man. I just, I have a utter a hundred percent confidence in that Patrick Mahomes is going to find a way to get it done for his team. Again, though, I do not understand why they did not go for two, dude. I just, I, that's always going to boggle my mind and I get it. Bulls is conservative, but
00:38:05
Speaker
There's just no way you have to win when you have a chance to win. You cannot give them the ball back. But again, I digress.
00:38:15
Speaker
All right, we got Steelers and commanders. I can't believe this game hasn't gotten flexed at least to the late window, dude. This is gonna be a damn good game, man. Washington's a three point favorite at home. I think the Steelers get after him, dude. I think the Steelers pull off the upset, man. I think that defense wrecks a little bit of havoc with Jayden Daniels, man. I think they do enough to win a tough low scoring game. I'm going Steelers on the road.
00:38:40
Speaker
It weird that I'm starting to get like more confident in the commanders. They got some good going. I feel like they've been playing a little bit above their level, dude. I feel like they I feel like they're going to have they're definitely going to be a solid playoff team. I think there's a damn good chance they end up winning the NFC East man. But I I just I feel like they're due for a gut check game, dude. They've been kind of like having this like semi-charmed season so far, man. And eventually the looks got to run out. And I think it's going to be a tough week against Pittsburgh. I'm going Washington.
00:39:10
Speaker
All right, let's go. I mean, I wouldn't be shocked, dude. This is going to be... That's the tallest game. Yeah, this is the tallest game. Yeah, I mean, Washington's three point favorites at home. So that lets you know Vegas thinks it's a coin flip game also, man. But yeah, we've got six and two Steelers and seven and two commanders. That's going to be a really, really good game in that early window. Vikings add Jaguars. I think Minnesota gets down and takes care of business and continues the Jacksonville season from now. Yeah, I'm going Vikings as well. There's not really much of a breakdown here. I just don't think Jacksonville is very good.
00:39:40
Speaker
Yeah, I was actually shocked they made as much of a game as they did on Sunday against Philly. Yeah. Well, Philly was doing some dumb shit too. Yeah, they kind of just went pretty, I think they went a little bit, the prevent a little bit too soft, a little bit too early and you know, Trevor Lawrence was able to start moving the ball on him and still doing absolutely atrocious interception when they had a chance to actually, actually win, man. Yeah.
00:40:03
Speaker
six and three Falcons against the two and seven Saints. I think the Falcons definitely win. I think the Falcons, they don't need to play around, dude. The Falcons need to make a statement game. We've still got doubters like you saying they're not that good, man. I want to see them go down there and just really drive a nail in the heart of the Saints. The one thing you got to worry about, dude, it happens every year. They'll see one team that gets a crazy win with the interim coach, dude. It's not always, but sometimes you'll see a team get a big boost from that first week with the interim coach.
00:40:31
Speaker
I don't think it's happening with the Saints this week, but that's probably the one kind of red flag that I'm looking at. If I'm the dirty birds heading into this one. Yeah. The Saints are just not a good team though, dude. I got, I say all this, I could see them winning. This is a rivalry game, dude. Anything can happen. You throw records out and like you just said, they fired their coach this week. So that makes it even more of a tough one, but get your, get your shit done, dude. Falcons win this game. They're going to win.
00:40:59
Speaker
All right, Niners and Bucks. It looks like as of now, Kristin McCaffrey is coming back to play. We got a Bucks team that's got to be feeling drained after that emotional loss Monday night. I'm going to let you go first on this one, man.
00:41:19
Speaker
I'm going 49ers. I just, dude, the bucks are just, I mean, they're a walking wounded team at this point. They have nobody left on offense. It's just, it's kind of a bummer because they were looking like a really fun team that first month, man. It had some good stuff going, but yeah, the injuries have just gotten to where they're, they're absolutely insurmountable at this point.
00:41:37
Speaker
the only one that is a little nervous about Christian McCaffrey playing? Like, I don't really feel confident that he's gonna make it maybe I mean, it was a it wasn't like an acute injury though, dude. It was a was an Achilles strain, right was the final dude, he has tendonitis and both of his fucking Achilles like that can't be fucking you're not in one in both like that can't be fucking good, dude.
00:42:02
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know, dude. I mean, I trust the... He went to Germany. There's no telling what he did. He probably has new Achilles put in, dude. We don't even know what he did. I trust the medical staff and Chris McCaffrey is a freak, man. Yeah. I think the Niners win, dude. Unfortunately, I think it could just be too little too late, dude. I think the Niners are definitely a step or two down from where they were.
00:42:21
Speaker
the last couple of seasons. I think they get a little glimmer of hope here, man. But if you're thinking about going on like some NFC West futures on the Niners, here's their schedule the rest of the way. So they got at Tampa, which is not going to be easy game. It's going to be a noon kickoff on the East coast against a Buck's team. That's still still pretty solid football team, man.
00:42:38
Speaker
And then they got the Seahawks coming to town. Then they go at Green Bay, at Buffalo, got the Bears coming to town. Then you got the Rams coming to town at Miami, which Miami is a good two and 16, man. Miami's just had a, they've had a season from L so far too. The Lions at San Francisco, and then they close at Arizona. Like dude, the Niners, I mean, I don't know if they get to nine wins, dude. It's going to be brutal down the stretch, man. It gets to the team that even getting Christian McCaffrey back, they're still, you know,
00:43:05
Speaker
there's still a banged up team, dude. It may just be a bad year for the Niners and they have to regroup for next season. Yeah.
00:43:15
Speaker
I'll be tough. There's not an easy game left. Not to mention the rest of the division outside. I don't have good feelings about Seahawks, but like cars, Seahawks are fading, but they're still going to be tough. You still got to punch his chance every week and the Cardinals and the Cardinals. Let me give you their schedule, dude. I was looking at the car. I was, I was kind of forecasting out the rest of the senior day, the Cardinals schedule.
00:43:36
Speaker
Alright, so next week they got the Jets coming to town and then they go at Seahawks at Vikings. Then after that you get the Seahawks in Arizona Patriots in Arizona. They go to Carolina got the Rams and then you got the Niners last week of the season. Like I feel like Arizona can go on cruise control and end up with 10 wins man. That's crazy. The Rams got a huge win on Sunday like that division is going to come down to the wire for sure.
00:44:00
Speaker
Yeah, I think the Niners end up being just squeezed out this year and, you know, they have the whole offseason to reflect. But I picked them to win on Sunday. I think they get it done in Tampa. Yeah, I do too. All right. After that, we got Bills and Colts in Indy. Buffalo's got to win this, right?
00:44:20
Speaker
They have to win this game, dude. If you want me to take you serious, this is a game you got to win. We didn't even talk about the Colts. What did they even do? At this point, what do you even do? They're just the biggest nothing burger of a team, dude. Their offense didn't look any better with Flacco. Yeah, he's not going to lose you a game.
00:44:44
Speaker
He does nothing though, dude. He'd be an awesome backup quarterback to have, man, but yeah, dude's ancient, man. Think about it, he came in the same year as Matt Ryan, dude. Could you imagine Matt Ryan back out there with the Colts right now? That's basically what they got, man. Yeah, dude, I think the Bills take care of him. Yep, I'm going to Bills as well.
00:45:06
Speaker
All right, Patriots and Bears in Chicago, dude. I think Patriots get it done, man. A lot of drama in Chicago, dude. We've kind of been on the Patriots all year for playing good football, even though they just have a very, very low amount of talent right now. Drake May looked awesome on Sunday against the Titans. Again, he's turned the ball over, but that's just because he's not playing safe. He's going out there and slinging it and playing aggressive, man. That last drive was just masterful. Love what you see out of the rookie QB there.
00:45:36
Speaker
I'm going, I'm going Patriots to go in Chicago and get it done. Dude, I just like this Patriots team more man. If the bears lose this game, I don't, I mean, like, what do you, I don't even know what you do from here. If you lose this game, dude, they still got all six divisional games left. They got to go to San Francisco and they got Seattle left. Like that's their remaining schedule. They might not win another game. If they lose this game, they are, they might not win another game the rest of the season.
00:46:06
Speaker
I feel like the start that they had, you know, they had so many like empty, yeah, they had so many empty wins. I think I kind of fucked up like the trajectory and like expectations level for the season. You know what I mean? Like if the Bears were sitting at two and seven right now and you'd seen kind of slow but steady progress from, from Caleb Williams, Caleb Williams, I think you'd be feeling okay. But the fact that, you know, they started whatever it was, you know, four and two, four and one, and then collapsed like this, man, it just, it makes things seem even more hopeless than, than being two and seven like the Patriots are.
00:46:34
Speaker
It feels like the Patriots have hope right now, where it feels like the Bears, their hope meter is empty. I'm gonna go Chicago. I just, I just refuse to believe they're gonna lose a new England at home.
00:46:46
Speaker
Yeah, fair enough. I mean that is pretty bad. I mean the Titans beat the Patriots at home So if the Titans could do it the bear should be able to do it, right? Yeah Speaking of which the same the resurgent Titans heading out west. This is a few lacking to Los Angeles Yeah, the Chargers seems like they may get in better and better every week, man They're gonna be a sneaky team in January to you man, like the Harbaugh's got a whole season to get these guys molded into his vision for him I think they're gonna be a problem, dude. I think I think they just straight up bludgeoned the Titans on Sunday
00:47:14
Speaker
This is going to be a massacre of a football game. Another massacre, dude. It feels like this could be the end for Mike McCarthy if it goes south quick, man. Eagles heading into Dallas, dude. You feel like they're definitely winning. Eagles have been looking red hot lately. Cowboys are ice cold. This feels like it could be like that.
00:47:33
Speaker
Yeah. This feels like it could really be a tipping point for, uh, for Dallas, man. Yeah. I'm going Philadelphia as well. I just doubt there is no good vibes about Dallas CD land's got an AC joint injury. Like the vibes for Dallas that are at an all time low right now. It feels like the Eagles are just picking up steam, dude. They're kind of operating in the shadow of the lions right now. Um, dude, but the Eagles are every bit, the team, they look, they're looking every bit, the team that went to the Superbowl and from the first half of last season, man, agreed.
00:48:04
Speaker
All right, Jets and Cardinals out in Arizona. Arizona, dude, they're none of those teams. Anything could happen any week, right? Everything is on the table with them. They're only a one and a half point favorite at home. Jets looked a little bit better last Thursday night, but it was against the Texans who were coming into that game beat up.
00:48:22
Speaker
It seemed like the Texans were just trying to get to the end of that one, man. It was a lack of fire, for sure, that we've been used to during Houston in the D'Amico-Ryan era. I think Kyler makes enough plays to get it done for him, though, man. I think the Cardinals win and get to 6-4. Tough one to pick, right?
00:48:42
Speaker
Arizona has been so up and down and the Jets mostly been down, but they did look up last week. The week we were both all completely off the Jets and thought they were dead. They be Houston. I just. I'm going to say the Jets win. I just I don't fully trust Arizona yet. You know, I mean, not that I trust the Jets, but it's just I don't know man. I just feel like the Jets. This is a must win for them.
00:49:08
Speaker
Yeah. All right. It's going to be a good game, man, or at least an interesting game, maybe not a good game. Lions and Texans, dude. I think the Lions go in there and kick the Texans' ass, man. I'm off the Texans big time. You know me, I've been a Texans' skeptic going all the way back to the offseason. To get smoked like they did against the hapless Jets, that was eye-opening for me again. Just look at...
00:49:28
Speaker
Point differential, man. I've been telling you guys for years, dude. That's the number one staff for NFL teams, dude. And Houston sucks, man. They are not a legit six and three team. I think the Lions go into Texas and beat them down on Sunday night. Yeah, Detroit is just way at a way different level. And Texas has got to get healthy, too. So yeah, yeah. Yeah, they're they're banged up for sure, man. I think so. You're picking the Lions as well. I am. Are you are you with me, man? I'm thinking this is like at least a 15 point victory game.
00:49:57
Speaker
Um, I think that God, dude, I don't want to say, no, I don't think the Texans keep it close. Yeah. I could easily see 14 a 14 point plus win.
00:50:08
Speaker
Alright, lastly, Monday night, we got the Dolphins and Rams in Los Angeles. The Dolphins just snake bit, man. They got off their slow start, Tua gets hurt. They played a damn good game against Buffalo, man. Their last three games, dude. So they're on a three game losing streak. The three games combined, they lost by 10 points, dude. They lost by six to the Colts, lost by one to the Cardinals, lost by three to the Bills, man.
00:50:35
Speaker
brutal season so far for, uh, for Miami, man. In addition to all the health concerns with Tua, um, feels like it's one of the, going to be one of those snake bit seasons. It just keeps going. I think they play a decent game, but, but the Rams are really starting to cook right now. So I think the Rams win to get above 500. I'm going Rams as well. I just feel bad for Miami, but in the same sense, it's like, dude, have you looked at like their usage of Tyree kill and jail and waddle the last two months is, I mean, it's,
00:51:02
Speaker
extremely concerning at this point. I just don't think they know what they're doing. Maybe the league figured Mike McDaniel out. I don't know. That's what I'm thinking, dude. I'm thinking, I think he's a good enough coach that he'll be able to do some, some tinkering and stuff, man, to come back. But it felt like, you know, the last two seasons, it felt like they were almost kind of ahead of the curve with what they were doing on offense on a week, you know, weekend and week out basis. They were definitely, you know, when they would play the tippy top defenses,
00:51:27
Speaker
it run out of steam, but it seemed like anytime they were going against an average to bad defense, they were just running them off the field. And that's definitely not the case this year. So they got to go back to the drawing board a little bit, but I don't think they're going to have time to do that between now and Monday night against the Rams. No, I agree with you.
00:51:45
Speaker
Excuse me, not the mailbag. We got million dollar bets. I don't even want to talk about this. I thought I had an insurmountable lead and now Jordan's coming back on me, man. We both split last week, but the one Jordan split on was big, big money, man. He hit that commander's money line. He threw down 200,000 to win.
00:52:03
Speaker
$314,000. So that took him up to 1.1 million, 495,000. Then he lost 100,000 on a, I told him this was a dumb bet, dude. I don't know why he loves betting he's over so much. Why do you like to bet these? I don't even think those are fun bets to bet, dude.
00:52:19
Speaker
No, they're really fun bets to bet. And they're, they're just, I like to watch for points. That's what, that's what I'm all about. I'm a point chaser and I think it's fun watching team score. So they are fun to bet. You just have to, I don't know. You just have to play with risk. And now that we're getting deeper into the season, it's harder and harder because a lot of teams are playing outside and it's snowing and raining. So you just have to hedge your bet and watch what you're doing.
00:52:43
Speaker
Would you say you're a slut for points? Oh, I love some good points. You're right. Slut. I had a Bengals, Bills, Ravens, Moneyline Parlay that I threw down $75,000. I won $155,000 on that hit. So that took me up to $1,525,000. And then I lost $25,000 on the Pats' Moneyline. The Titans fucked me over, man. So as of right now, I'm setting about $105,000 ahead of Jordan.
00:53:10
Speaker
at the halfway mark, well on my way to defending my million dollar bets championship. I'll go first with my first bet for this week. So I am going to be taking another parlay. I'm going to old school classic NFC West action, dude. I got the Falcons with the spread against the Saints. So that's Falcons minus three and a half against the Saints parlayed with the Niners minus five against the Bucks. And for a $50,000 bet that will pay out $187,429.
00:53:40
Speaker
Okay. Interesting. I like where your head's at there. Okay. For my first bet, I'm just going to do a single money line bet. I'm going to go with the chargers on the money line. I'm going to put down 400,000 to win $506,666. Oh my God, dude. Let's go fucking tight.
00:54:03
Speaker
Titan I will fucking I will cry if they win did one cuz I'll be fucking up their job position, but you cuz I'll be laughing so hard I I took the same bet dude. I didn't take the money line. I took the spread dude I got the chart I got action on that same one so great minds think alike I got the Chargers with the spread seven and a half points I wouldn't not phone as confident as you that dude. I threw down 50,000
00:54:24
Speaker
to win 94,000. The Titans are still playing hard, man. That's the scary thing about going all in against them, dude, is the team hasn't quit or checked out or anything, right? The team is still playing really, really hard. So you never know what could happen week to week, man. That's why I thought about doing just a big money, money line bet, but I was like, yeah, I don't want to fuck it, dude. Still the Chargers, dude. They could totally fuck you over.
00:54:46
Speaker
OK, and then my second one, I'm going to do a parlay. I'm going to take the Chiefs money line, the 49ers money line, the Falcons and Saints over 46 and then the Lions money line. I'm going to do seventy five thousand and that will pay three hundred and ninety six thousand three hundred and sixty five dollars.
00:55:05
Speaker
Jeez, okay. I didn't tough you hit this week. I'm gonna be back in the hole man with some ground to make up But luckily we got about eight weeks to cover. Yeah, that's how I think I can get it done All right. Let's hit the mailbag. We'll start off first with our buddy James Maud's Lee. He says
00:55:23
Speaker
Let me find it. All right. His, his upset bet for this week was is LSU to beat Alabama, which I think Alabama was actually the favorite upset. Yeah. And then he sent this yesterday. He said, I think we all know Tampa is going to win today that aged well. Then he says to the Jaguars trade, Trevor Lawrence.
00:55:40
Speaker
I say no, I know I'm way higher on Trevor Lawrence than you are, but I still think that he's shown us enough there to think that, you know, as bad as it's been the last season and a half, there's still, there's still an NFL franchise quarterback, man. I think if you got the right coach, right scheme, um, you can still get this guy turned around. And I think you could win a Superbowl with Trevor Lawrence as your QB. Yeah, it's not time to dump Trevor Lawrence yet. They're definitely going to need a new coach and everything next year. So we don't have to get off the Trevor Lawrence bandwagon just yet.
00:56:09
Speaker
All right, and then the lovely Ari, Jordan's wife, she got us a good one. She said, I got a question for you guys. In WWE fashion, what would be the most satisfying storyline for the Chiefs this season? Would them obviously be in the heels of the NFL? Dude, I think the Chiefs need to lose to the Lions and it needs to be the Chiefs getting fucked over by the refs for once. Since this seems like the refs are always on the Chiefs side, dude, giving them the big calls, the big moments, I think we need to see it finally swing against them with the Lions pulling off the upset.
00:56:38
Speaker
I don't want to see like a call that gives them the lines like pass interference, you know, at the one yard line, hands in the game. But maybe on a game winning drive, maybe, you know, maybe on a fourth down, you get a rough in the pass around Jared Goff and then, you know, they still got to go the last 50 yards on their own to make it happen. But I want to see the refs fuck over the Chiefs for once.
00:56:58
Speaker
Dude, could you even imagine like the Chiefs lose because of like a full start on like the last play of the game or something and they go into score a touchdown. They call it back because we'll fall start. I mean that right tackle fall starts every play, every play, dude. Yeah. There's a lot of right and left tackles across the league that are guilty of this, but the Chiefs, it's egregious dude. Like it's, you don't even got to be like a, you know, a hardcore football watcher like us. I feel like the people,
00:57:26
Speaker
you're sitting at home with your granny watch and she's going to notice like, why does this guy keep leaving early? Yeah, it's not good.
00:57:35
Speaker
What's your, what's your WWE storyline? You want to see manners at the same. You want to see the chiefs take the L. The chiefs are Roman Reigns right now, dude. They're, they're the juggernaut, dude, the unstoppable force man. So I feel like any team going against him is going to be the number one babyface team in the, uh, in the world. I'm going to be honest, dude. It's not that even that I just, I want them to lose. I just want them to lose in like a fashion. That's like the most heartbreaking thing ever. Like I just like,
00:58:01
Speaker
It would be like someone in the WWE coming back from a like a devastating injury. And then you think they're getting their moment at like WrestleMania or something. And they tear the other ACL and end up losing the match on the spot like I needed to be devastating.
00:58:18
Speaker
but I don't want to, I don't know on the head. No, no, no. I don't want anybody like getting hurt on the chiefs, but I just, I want it to be like a devastating loss. Like I just, I wanted to like leave no doubt. Like I want them just to get buried basically is what I want to see. You needed to, uh, you needed to come out during the bi-week in between the conference championship and the super bowl that like Taylor Swift is dumped Travis Kelsey. And then he like lets one bounce off his hands to win the game and, and
00:58:44
Speaker
And that's it. I need it more than that. I need like a convincing thing like Ultimate Warrior over Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6. I need it to be like convincingly that they won. Oh, so you want to see them like get a straight up ass whooping. Yeah.
00:58:58
Speaker
All right. Zach Hertzler says, any team that's been a total surprise for you on how they're playing this year? I think the commanders did. I would be straight up, man. I was dead ass wrong on Jayden Daniels. I did not think that his game was going to translate that well to the NFL and or he was going to be able to stay healthy. And I've always liked Dan Quinn as a coach, but I was a little bit skeptical of
00:59:18
Speaker
what he was going to be able to do with this Washington team that it feels like they've been bad forever, dude. Like they actually, it really wasn't that long ago when they had some success with Kirk Cousins. And, you know, they had a pretty decent year in 2020, you know, the combo of Alex Smith and, and Heineke in there, dude. They gave the Bucks a good run for their money in the playoffs on the Bucks Super Bowl run. But that team has been, that franchise has just been in the pits for decades now, man. And to see the crazy turnaround that the coach and the quarterback have brought, that's been my biggest surprise for sure.
00:59:48
Speaker
Yeah, it's been crazy. God, I just lost my train of thought. What were you just talking about? Sorry. Biggest surprise team.
00:59:59
Speaker
I'm going to say the Falcons, dude. I just, I never expected this team to be six and three coming off the schedule. They played to start the season the way they started against the Steelers and then losing to the chiefs. Like I just, I did not have a good feeling about this team. And the fact that they're six and three with Raheem Morris as their head coach cousins coming off an AC or Achilles injury, like
01:00:22
Speaker
I just, I'm gonna be, I did not expect this at all. Like I did not think they would be this good. I know a lot of people did, but I was not one of them. So I'll say the Falcons.
01:00:30
Speaker
Yeah, I expected the Falcons would be pretty dang successful this year, man. I think you're, I don't know if it's just your fanhood and you're too close to the flame on this one, man. I think they've been pretty damn good. It seems like Kirk Cousins has gotten healthy and healthier every week. And it seems like what they're doing is sustainable, man. Like I'm really confident and excited to see what they do the rest of the life. Great. All right. Tony Barker says, if you could have one walkout song for your football team's interest through the tunnel, what are you bumping?
01:00:58
Speaker
I mean, it's always we ready. Like Archie Evers Hall always got me ready to play football. He's a good one, dude. I just, I, I associate that one too much with bumping in the locker. That was from back in my high school days. It was really big. Yeah. When you enjoyed life, like this is what I'm talking about here. So come on. Like there was nothing better than walking out of the high school locker room. We would be bumping that dude. Like we ready. And then we'd go out and get smoked 47 to 15, bro. Yeah. We, we ready to go get our fucking teeth. We were ready to do. We were listening to that song.
01:01:28
Speaker
My team was not good, man. Like my sophomore year, we went 0 and 10. My junior year, we started off 4 and 0. You like that one? We were able to get our team kicked in. Yeah, we'd be bumping it pregame, getting hyped. We'd just go out and get our heads kicked in. I mean, my high school experience was no different than yours. I played in an awful high school, and they made the playoffs like two years after I left. It was like the first playoff appearance in like 15 years.
01:01:55
Speaker
My senior year, we went six and four, and we got the last seed in the playoffs for our region. Eight teams made it. We clinched the eighth seed when we won our last game of the season. I mean, it was a big deal for our school, because our school sucked, dude. Again, second time in school history, they made the playoffs. You would have thought we won the Super Bowl, though, dude. The fans stormed the field off us just making the playoffs, man. Looking back, it's kind of embarrassing at how excited we were for such modest success.
01:02:23
Speaker
Still a good memory. And then I still think I have a really great ending for my high school football career, because we almost beat the number one seed. The game ended with us throwing into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown, man. Obviously, we didn't complete it. But going down swinging against the one seed, I think, was a pretty cool way to wrap things up. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, because the team, we actually strangely matched up really well with the team that was the one seed. If we would have somehow knocked them off, gotten to the upset, we would have got drugged like 72 to nothing in the second round of the playoffs.
01:02:51
Speaker
Yeah, we went on a high note man. All right, dude for me man, obviously Sandman You can't go wrong with that dude that rocks. It's just it feels like it was made for a football walkout song But I'll go hell's bells ACDC a little bit a little bit more chill but also got kind of like a darker edge to it man So I think hell's bells you get the undertaker, you know bells going off at the start of it to kind of set it off man Yeah, hell's bells. Yep. All right
01:03:17
Speaker
Tony Barker says, what in tarnation are the Cowboys thinking as wires during the trade deadline? I feel like maybe Jerry Jones just felt the pressure. I think he told his underlings, go find us a fucking trade.

Pressure and Prospects for NFL Teams

01:03:28
Speaker
We got to do something. We can't just stand Pat. And they were like, we got Mingo. And he's like,
01:03:33
Speaker
Yeah, let's do it. Yeah, I think I was I think they felt the pressure to from their fan base that they had to do something. And that was kind of all they could muster. I mean, pretty they probably would have been better off just standing pat, dude, and just, you know, trying to fucking get in the bunker and figure out what we're going to do with the next three or four years, because it feels like they're in trouble. Yeah, it feels you know, the last couple of years, it felt like the Cowboys window has been there. But it seems like that is straight up slam shut over the last couple of months here. Yeah, they're in deep trouble.
01:04:03
Speaker
Can anything be done to salvage the Bears season or is it just rearranging chairs on the Titanic? You know, we talked about this a little bit earlier. I really think it was the start of the season that really fucked it up. The number one objective this year is obviously it's great, dude, to want to make the playoffs and go on a run and stuff, dude. But the most important thing for the Bears this season is finding out exactly where you're at with Caleb Williams. If we're in a spot to where we need to be going all in, like Jordan mentioned earlier in the show, if we need to be going all in for the next year because we think we got a chance we can really win one with the sky or if this is going to be
01:04:32
Speaker
More of a long-term project and we need to be thinking about what kind of weapons we can bring in to play with him, man So I still think that's number one priority man. I think the playoffs were always a pipe dream. I thought for the beer so I don't think it's We'll see what happens with the coach situation man if that continues to deteriorate But I don't think the bear season is the flaming disaster that it's being portrayed to be right now. I
01:04:54
Speaker
Yeah. The only thing that's a little concerning for me is like some of the moves they made in the off season to bring in certain guys. Like I never understood the Keenan Allen move. I just, I thought that was just a stupid decision. And going to the Chiefs would have made more sense, right? Like go one, you know, one or two more seasons with a team that's right on, you know, a solid contender instead of going to a rookie quarterback. I just didn't understand that at all. But yeah, I think they're fine. Like they need to fire you were flus. Like that's the first thing that needs
01:05:23
Speaker
happen. I still think they're going to be fine in the in the future, though. It's just this if you just gone backwards from this, it wouldn't be as bad if they had lost, you know, that they'd started off shitty and then got on a little winning streak, people would be fine with the four and four. But it's just, it's the way the four and four is look that I think it's got people ready to, you know, go jump into traffic. Yeah, if they would, like you said, if they wouldn't have started off like they did, they would have been fine.

Fantasy Football and Playoff Speculations

01:05:48
Speaker
Sam Rosenthal says, how are you doing on your fantasy teams? I only have one. I'm sitting at five and four, but I think I have the most points scored in the league. So I think I got some juice to maybe do something. Um, Jordan, I know, you know, me and Jordan are in a league together. It's, it's, it's an intense league, but it's definitely rec. I know Jordan's got some big money leagues he's in as well. I'm four and five in the set in the league that me and Seth are in together and I'm 19 points behind him.
01:06:11
Speaker
Um, we're in the same division every year for some odd reason. I don't know how that works out, but, uh, and then my other leagues, um, so the goal line league, my team is just dead. Like there's just, it's going nowhere. I'm two and seven. The team is just bad. Injuries killed me the season. Um,
01:06:31
Speaker
I'm doing pretty well on everything else. Like I, I'm six and three and one of my big money leagues. And then, uh, I got invited to a league where the winner gets a figure from every other person in the league and I'm seven and two in that league. So.
01:06:48
Speaker
Nice dude. All right, we got one last question. Also from Sam Rosenthal, do any of the under 500 teams make the playoffs? So pick a team that's under 500 right now, Jordan, that you think's got the best chance to get in the playoffs.
01:07:05
Speaker
I mean, the bangles are really the only one that I think has a chance of making the playoffs. That's under 500 right now. The rest of the teams that are under 500 are not good. I mean, let's see who's the Seahawks. Maybe Jordan, Jordan's a lot quicker to write, write a team off than I am bangles. Obviously there's still my super bowl pick in the AFC. They're going to find a way to get it. Yeah. No, no, no. Look at the rest of the teams.
01:07:28
Speaker
Yeah, true. Colts, Titans, Jags, no hope. Bengals, Browns, no hope. We can write those guys off. Raiders, we can write them off. The Jets possibly did. I can see the Jets, as much as it pains me to say it, I can see the Jets going on a little run to get their head above water. Cowboys, Giants, no. Seahawks, possibly, but I doubt it. I think the Seahawks are going to get beat up a lot more as they go through the division.
01:07:56
Speaker
And yeah, the bucks are too banged up, man. Yeah, I think the bangles are it, dude.
01:08:01
Speaker
All right. That's it for the mailbag, man. Another great episode of the goal line. Jordan, it was a pleasure as always, man. I always look forward to talking football with you every single week. Hit us with some closing thoughts, man. We're halfway done with the regular season, dude. Let us give us some closing thoughts and we'll get out of here. Depression's already starting to set in for me. We got four weeks of college football regular season left and yeah, halfway through NFL season. Dude, just enjoy every minute of football right now. I know college basketball and MBA are
01:08:27
Speaker
in full go now so that it gets me going. But yeah, enjoy your football week and we'll talk to you guys next week.
01:08:57
Speaker
Go watch me hand-off the chicken Yeah, I'm going down to the swamp Go watch me hand-off the chicken You know the hand-off make a music On a summer night, I'm looking on you
01:09:27
Speaker
Gonna catch every other one, maybe two Oh, if that's not the problem Gonna catch every other one, maybe two When the handouts start barking This handlock won't somehow see
