I'm good. we're you know It's currently 4.15 p.m. Central Standard Time, so I'm not super tired. we do it we do have the kids We do have the kids running around, so there may be there may be a run-in at some point. i think we had a run-in last episode from Stella, ah so that that may happen again. But ah overall, feeling good. Yeah, they just started a movie, though, and Jordan's got a little bit of a hard out, so this that we should be keeping brisk.

Life Updates and Personal Anecdotes

00:01:07
Speaker
For sure. and Jordan, what's good out in Omaha, dude?
00:01:09
Speaker
Nothing, man. Just ah wrapping up the month of May. And yeah, man, it's summer now. It doesn't feel like it here, but it is definitely summer. How are you going to the Omaha Lee? You just told us they just opened a Brazilian steakhouse in Omaha. mean, this is like our third one, to be fair. okay. I thought it was like new It's not like the first one ever, but apparently this one's above all of them. So it's called Terra Goucha, and we're going there tonight. Our anniversary was actually last week. We celebrated 15 years.
00:01:41
Speaker
Happy anniversary, Figa. Thank you. that that's dating anniversary, or you guys got married 2010? That's married anniversary. Wow. Wow, man. I know. We've been dating 19 years.
00:01:52
Speaker
So we we've known we've known Jordan and Ari since they were the beginning. That's pretty awesome, du That's about 12 or 13 years longer than most people stay married nowadays. So that's pretty badass, dude. 15 years, man. Yeah, it's a lot of work.
00:02:05
Speaker
really really put some thought into it before you get married ah it's it's a lot more work than you think it is i can't imagine

Marriage and Relationship Humor

00:02:11
Speaker
being married to anybody more chill than ari though so i mean you know i mean you've uh yeah but you you guys know like there's still things that god we're getting into like relationship advice now there' there's still things about you've entered youve entered the relationship portion the podcast there's still things about your spouse that will always annoy you no matter no matter what you do Why don't you list off your top three annoyances with No, don't talk about it. I will not allow slander on Ari's name in the um podcast. The other thing is whenever you've been with somebody that long, you know how to do like the tiniest, tiniest microaggression possible to just tweak them, right? if you can put the ta you You can put the smallest little inflection in your voice and you know it's just going to set them the fuck off, dude. Yeah.
00:02:53
Speaker
Seth and I, we've crossed the threshold where we've been together longer than we were alive. I have more days on Earth that I've been under the spell of Sheena than have not under her spell.
00:03:06
Speaker
That's a good way to put it, Seth. A great way to put it. and Oh,

Farm Life and Health Tips

00:03:11
Speaker
man. All right. Are you guys ready to talk some wrestling? You got to let us know what's new on the farm, dude. We're not going short shift our standard intro. Well, I just want to make sure, you know, we're on a time crunch. I don't want to keep, you know, Jordan and Ari from the freaking Brazilian steakhouse.
00:03:25
Speaker
You won't. Don't worry. I'll just bail. Just going to bail out. We, uh, I don't think anything's really new. Just been doing some gardening and, I, I renewed my milk kefir grains or kefir, whichever way you want to say it.
00:03:39
Speaker
Uh, it's basically like ah a drinkable yogurt. That's got, you know, a hundred times more probiotics than yogurt. So super gut healthy. And, um, so I'm firing those back up for the summertime to, uh, you know, get the gut health on point.
00:03:51
Speaker
Sounds great. It's going to be, it's wonderful.

Let's do it. Let's go.

Mariah May's Career Move Discussion

00:04:35
Speaker
right, so first off, we had some breaking news that hit just a couple hours before we went live today. Mariah May, it appears, is no longer with AEW, and she's expected to debut with WWE shortly. Me and Jordan discussed this one last night on that episode Turnbuckle Tavern when we recorded.
00:04:54
Speaker
I don't think we weren't really sure what she was going to do. We were offering more career, so you know some unsolicited career advice as opposed to predictions. so And we kind of agreement that we thought it made the most sense for her to stay AEW. Sheen, what do you think of this move, her jumping over to WWE?
00:05:09
Speaker
I mean... In my personal opinion, obviously everybody has their own career aspirations. I feel like if the if the WWE w e door opens, I feel like take it, dude, because the wwe WWE reach and the opportunities that are there are just, it's just, it's too good to pass up right?
00:05:26
Speaker
Also, the women in WWE w e right now are just freaking phenomenal. i mean, we're getting an all women's pay-per-view coming up. So it's just like, this is a good way time for her to debut. This is the perfect. Yeah, this is the perfect time for her to come over. um I just feel like the women are cooking with gas. And if she wants to be with the best women in the world, what I mean, why would she be

AEW vs WWE: Women's Wrestling Opportunities

00:05:45
Speaker
anywhere else?
00:05:45
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. ah You're never going to go wrong you know with jumping to WWE. You got to remember her whole wrestling journey started off as a um as an influencer for WWE Shop. you know I'm not sure she was training before that, but she was a pretty big big ah pretty big time influencer with WWE Shop. And so I think that's kind of always been her dream. That's something we've talked about before that's always going to be a disadvantage for AEW. It's like all things equal.
00:06:12
Speaker
Nobody at this point in time, nobody grew up wanting the main event all in. Nobody grew up the main event double or nothing. Having that WrestleMania moment, though, that's what everybody's thinking of. I got it pulled up now. showing Sheena this picture of her model and all the WWE merch from circa 2017, 2018. I was going to say, these photos are so 2017. Yeah, I'll send it to you as well, Jordan. But I just think...
00:06:34
Speaker
she's still super young, right? I think, I do think WWE will still be there for her next contract. I don't think it's a situation where, you know, this was her last shot to move over. And even though I think the top, ah you know, the, the, the peak of the AW women's division is kind of equal with the peak of WWE's.
00:06:51
Speaker
WWE's got a way more like dense division, right? It's way more stacked. There's a whole lot of traffic to get through to get to that top spot in WWE. Whereas AEW, I feel like she's right there with Mercedes and Tony as the top women's star in the company. True, but,
00:07:03
Speaker
It's no guarantee she's going to get to that level at WWE, I don't think. True, but there's no guarantee that she'll get to next year either. mean, the nature of wrestling, I mean, she's putting her body on the line every time she's in the ring, dude. Fair enough. So any bump could be your last. So I feel like if you have a dream, if you have aspiration, the opportunity is there. You've got to go for it.
00:07:21
Speaker
Jordan, you're the the women's wrestling aficionado, man. but Break this one down to us, man. Why why was this the wrong move for Mariah May? I mean, just to kind of echo some of your points, Seth, I just, she was on top of the AEW women's division. and And to be honest with you, like, yeah, there's a lot of really good women on the main roster of w WWE, but lot of them are so poorly used as is. and We can't pretend like there's there's not this elephant in the room of the people that have switched from AEW to w WWE. I mean, outside of a couple of them, like, where do most of these people go? They just end up on the mid card. And I'm sorry, man. We talked about this last night, too. The mid card of w WWE right now is not good. Like, there's miles of separation between the mid card and the main card.
00:08:10
Speaker
And if you don't if you don't end up in that main event scene, lot of these people are getting lost. Like right away. I mean, i hate to use this already, but Aleister Black and Rusev are right back to where they were when they left WWE

Talent Dynamics and Strategic Moves

00:08:24
Speaker
the first time. Yeah, they just slotted right back in and like the last four years. they ever had I do think if she goes to NXT right away, I think that'll be awesome because there's so many good women in NXT right now.
00:08:36
Speaker
But dude, the thing that always scares me is that NXT to WWE call up. the transition is way more flops than it is successes at this point. Like, it's just, don't know, man. WWE is just a different machine now with TKO behind them.
00:08:52
Speaker
And they're kind of in cruise control at this point where they're just, we talked about this too. Like they're kind of doing the same thing week in and week out again. Like it just, don't know, man. It's feeling like really cookie cutter WWE main roster is right now.
00:09:07
Speaker
NXT is not NXT is phenomenal. And I love the way they book it, but Main roster is very cookie cutter right now. But I feel like she, I mean, she picked, she had like an all timer of a match against freaking Toni Storm, dude. So it's just like, dude, when you're riding that high, I just feel like, and, and you know, just to play devil's advocate advocate to what you were kind of saying, dude, Toni has shown us time and time again, even if he does put, you know, the machine behind her,
00:09:33
Speaker
He's liable to just jump off that train and never pay anything off, dude. So it's like there's no guarantees. Even if he's like, you know, oh Mariah Mays, the the next it woman for our our division, dude. Like there's no promises there. She is the first AEW women's champion that's going to be jumping over yeah also as well. So there's that.
00:09:50
Speaker
And i think so I think they may be trying to make a statement with her. You know, I think this is going to be closer to, ah you know, Cody and Jade Cargill coming over than it will to Rusev or Errol Romero, you know. And I mean, Rusev and Alistair, I mean, they've just been back and forth.
00:10:06
Speaker
So I feel like it's just kind of like, eh. You know what I mean? Like, I was glad to see him back. She's making her debut. Yeah, it's fresh. Yeah, I think it's a it's a good time for be coming in if this truly does come to pass with Evolution coming up. do you Would you s save her for a so a surprise debut at at Evolution? Or do you you build that and and her debut match for WWE is one of your big selling points for that card?
00:10:28
Speaker
I mean, i'm I'm assuming she goes to NXT. So, yeah, i would put her in one of the NXT matches that'll be on Evolution. I mean, that makes the most sense to me, but never.
00:10:39
Speaker
ah do think I do think NXT is the right move. I don't think bringing her immediately up to the main roster is is beneficial. I do think having her make a stop in NXT. Because, I mean, we even saw for, like, you know, Julia and, you know, Stephanie Vaqueror, like...
00:10:53
Speaker
they They don't have to be there. They can just be there for a cup of coffee, yeah right? It doesn't have to be like these long, like, you know two, three year reigns. Like she could go there, just get her bearings, get her feet, get some cred, and then the main roster. I mean, there's also a chance that that's the best booking you get when you're under the WWE umbrella is when Sean's booking you. So, true I mean, at least we would get that. Because that's one thing.
00:11:15
Speaker
i know Jade is definitely over, but that's one thing I wish we would have got is like a Jade title run in NXT book by Sean Michael. Because I don't know what it is, and I'm not saying she's not a big deal because she definitely is.
00:11:29
Speaker
But for some reason now when I see her, like it just seems like that AEW stuff is so far in the rear view at this point. And what she's done in WWE is just, I don't know, just for me, it's just there at this point. like it's I don't know. I feel like she lost something not going to NXT. Yeah.
00:11:47
Speaker
Yeah, she she's really stood out in AEW because she had the full-on WWE presentation, and there weren't a lot of people that were getting that ah that level of like glitz and glamour in AEW when she was there.
00:11:58
Speaker
also think physically, i got need to see some side-by-side, but just the last couple times I've seen her, she's like she like she's definitely leaned out a little bit. She doesn't look like you know ah that the version... WWE schedule, dude. ain't got time to...
00:12:10
Speaker
Train as much. Yeah, maybe. I don't know. But she like to me, I feel like she looks like there's not that much difference between her and Bianca Belair when look at her now. Whereas in AEW, she seemed like an absolute, like ah somebody from the X-Men or something.
00:12:22
Speaker
um Yeah, it's it's really going to be interesting to see how she's used. This one's, to me, man, if I'm Tony Khan, this one stings bad because I feel like all indicators... we're pointing towards AEW as the right move for for her, and she still picked to go to WWE after you gave her this gigantic push over the last year. like um I'm down bad a little bit if I'm TK. We lost out on this one I don't understand why he only signed her to a two-year deal, especially when they ran a year storyline with Tony. like yeah That's insane to me. that
00:12:52
Speaker
That's the last time we're going to see her is arguably one of the best matches in AEW women's history. That's the last time we're going to see her. I mean... I think that's going to be a problem for Tony Khan, dude. I think, you know, anytime he pushes anybody to the moon and you know what mean? It's like you risk them getting too good and too much hype to where now they feel like they need to go to WWE. Like, I feel like, you know, this is just my personal opinion. I have no idea, but I feel like MJF regrets not going to WWE. Now he's back in this freaking faction with the damn Hurt Business or Hurt Syndicate or whatever. You know what mean? Exactly. run since he resigned yeah it's been a little he's back doing like stuff he was doing like the first year exactly dude and i feel like you know i feel like there's got to be a level of like regret there dude so i feel like from going forward people are going to just you know problem for mjf is adam cole got hurt because like the mjf thing was about to shoot to the moon after he resigned then adam cole got hurt and it just completely put a stop to it like i the whole the whole devil storyline was just one of the all-time cursed wrestling angles yeah yeah I seriously felt like that was, if Adam Cole wouldn't have got I felt like that was actually going to go somewhere for both of those guys. That's what brought, I think, wasn't that what brought you kind of back into, because you were kind of sour on AEW for a while, and then the, wasn't the Devil Storyline brought back in? was hyped on Devil Storyline, and then it ended up being just a wet fart of an Indian for, some stuff AEW had control of, some stuff was completely out their hands, and
00:14:17
Speaker
i think that I think between CM Punk leaving, coming back to WWE, and then the Devil storyline, I think that's what really kind of put AEW kind of down in the dumps for that about a year plus. that they're They're just now climbing back out of, man.
00:14:31
Speaker
But yeah, time will tell. we'll We'll see how this works out with Mariah May. Really big story. I would say for the AEW women's roster, hey, man, that's a huge chess piece that's off the board now. And somebody's got a chance to move up, man. If I'm Athena, I'm like i'm i'm having my people call up Tony Khan right now and say, what do I got to do to grab one of the main spots?
00:14:47
Speaker
on the main roster. Cause she's been, even though it's been cool that she's had this forever reign as eight as ring of honor, women's champ. To me, it's absolutely criminal that she's not in a featured role on, uh, on a W TV. I think they'll get her there. the The women's division is definitely going in the right division or right way in a W. I, I really do feel like this is, it's at its best point that it's been in a long time.
00:15:09
Speaker
Yeah. agree with that. You got some fun. It's been so low for a long time. It's like the bar, at the bar isn't that high. Hey, you know else we haven't mentioned, man, is Britt Baker. Where's she at, dude? That could be a good surprise for Evolution. Supposedly, I think she's just being a dentist now. Yeah, and Breaking up with Adam Cole really sent Britt Baker down to the... And everything everybody said about her after she got released was not a good look for her. Just apparently not a great backstage person. Yeah, pain in the butt to work with. Yeah, I don't think she... I mean, that's the problem. Is she good enough to overcome all that? Like, that's what you have to ask yourself.
00:15:44
Speaker
I don't know if she is at this point. and I mean, they brought CM Punk in. So i don't i think that may be I think they're confident they can handle the problem children. But I don't know if she's. Yeah, I don't know how how much of a star she seems like in WWE as opposed to to AEW.
00:15:58
Speaker
Adam Cole is such a good dude. To me, I got red flags. Somebody can't make it work with Adam Cole, man. He seems like one of the most genuinely nice people in the business. Again, like what point does WWE have way too many women on the main roster? i'm I'm not trying to be sexist. I'm just saying like there's, there's only so much time they devote to women's wrestling on WWE. Like it's, it's a, I'd argue both roster. I would argue both companies have bloated rosters right now. And they could use, i don't want to see anybody lose their job, but maybe if you sent some people on a rum spring, i had to go work the Indies for a year, you know, keep, keep them under contract, to let them go work the GCWs and TNAs and stuff of the world for a while.
00:16:33
Speaker
Um, You got to keep your options open, you know. Got to keep your options open. You're right. All right. You guys ready to move into a recap in the weekend? Let's go. So we started off with Saturday night's main event. i thought this was a fun enough show, man. We saw John Cena. you know, I really thought that we were going to see John Cena start to continue that sort of turn back to the light.
00:16:51
Speaker
Uh, that he hinted at it at the end of backlash, but he ended up just being more healed. Whatever. He doubled down on the heel turn the point. We're getting, Jay Uso and Cody against Logan Paul and John Cena at money in the bank. so Somebody left a WWE universe mode on random booking.
00:17:05
Speaker
And this is what it's true. It should be fun enough match. I mean, it, It makes sense. if you If you untangle the web enough, yeah it it makes sense, right? like you know John Cena did a good job making it make sense. He's going to ruin wrestling. Yeah, Logan Paul. Everybody hates Logan Paul. I'm going to get make sure he gets your championship. like it It makes sense. But yeah, it does feel like super random for John Cena to be in a tag team with with Logan Paul. Do you guys think we're heading to Cena and Cody Part 2 at SummerSlam?
00:17:35
Speaker
I don't know if it's SummerSlam. I think but down the road somewhere for sure, but I don't know i don't know if SummerSlam is going to be it. The problem is, is like I was thinking about this the other day, like at this point, who is Cena going to wrestle on the main roster that seems like a big enough deal for this run?
00:17:51
Speaker
I think it is Cody at SummerSlam at this point.
00:17:56
Speaker
Do you think they take the belt off him already? Like, i I don't know, man. This just feels like a failed experiment at this point. We've gone back and forth on it a couple of times. It really depends on what they want to do. I think the you kind of need to to backtrack and get course correct a little bit. If you want to have keep building to this, you know, I'm going to retire with the title thing. Yeah.
00:18:17
Speaker
if you're, if you know, going to take this all the way out to his last match in December, but I, I don't, I wouldn't have any issue with if if it's Cody taking the belt back off him at SummerSlam and he spent those last couple months on him redeeming himself back with the fans. Cause I think everybody's ready to embrace John Cena. I don't think it's going to take a whole lot of convincing and begging for him to get back in the good graces of the fans. Um,
00:18:38
Speaker
once Once we really close in on the end of this farewell tour. But yeah, I mean, they they already smoked through the match with um with Randy Orton. I don't see Seth getting back on like the babyface side of things to where it makes sense for him to have a match with Cena.
00:18:51
Speaker
And there's Roman. you know We don't know what Roman's going to be doing. You assume Roman's going to be doing something with Seth or and or Punk when he comes back. But yeah, I think Seth, Randy Orton, Cody, and CM Punk are really kind of only ones, man, that are sortre kind of in the mix there to to take on Cena.
00:19:09
Speaker
yeah Yeah. There's not many people at that level. They kind of backed themselves into a corner at this point with the Cena thing. Because, I mean, you have to have someone big enough to be in that match. Like, the R-Truth thing was cool enough for what it was, and it was funny. And just the whole thing was just kind of like, wrapping up that R-Truth story with Cena. It was cool, but...
00:19:29
Speaker
I mean, that's obviously not going to continue because ah now we're on to the tag match, which I don't really know how I feel about that. I could go either way on it. I mean, it just kind of is what it is.
00:19:39
Speaker
think it's wild having both champions wrapped up in a tag match that is really for nothing in i money in the bank of all places. I mean, that's their biggest pay-per-view.
00:19:51
Speaker
Yeah, I'm assuming that's the main event. I think it's kind of fun having both champions in one match with a fresh, a case fresh Mr. Money in the Bank hanging out, you know, so I'm sure we're going to get some sort of cash in or tease the cash in. I think Logan's going to wrestle twice that night.
00:20:07
Speaker
Yeah, I can see that. Yeah, imagine going to be in the Money in the Bank. Imagine if Logan Paul wins Money in the Bank in the opening and match, and then he's got the briefcase right there. I think he's going to win Money in the Bank, honestly. Yeah, that would be super fun. But yeah, be super fine but yeah i Yeah, I was kind of thinking Karrion Kross, but I could totally see.
00:20:26
Speaker
I'm kind of leaning towards now John Cena's losing that belt at SummerSlam. I don't think he holds it all the way to the end of the year because I just think we need something to freshen up, man. I don't think there's enough legs on this run unless unless he goes away for a little bit, and don't see that happen. I think he's going to be a pretty consistent presence for us. and They needed to get him cheered on the last couple months of this. Like, dude, I don't want the last like thing we see of John Cena is him losing his last match as a heel. Like, I want to see Cena get cheered and stuff again for the last couple People are still cheering Cena. The fans still want to see him too, man. Like you see the merch is still flying off the shelves. Like said, I think, dude, I don't think it's going to take much at all for that they're the crowd to flip and start cheering John Cena. I agree. I think everybody kind of understands. It's just something that, you know. It's a formality. If he wanted to try, he wanted to try once this last year and it just, it you know.
00:21:15
Speaker
people john He's just got too much goodwill in the bank, man. He didn't go far enough on the evil stuff, man. Yeah. He just didn't go far enough on the evil stuff at start the heels here. I think he's almost like a comedy heel instead some sort of super evil. And then everybody hated the rock out of this whole thing more than anything. I was going to say, it just didn't work. The execution wasn't there.
00:21:33
Speaker
You know what i mean? like Had had the the Cody and Cena match had a better ending or just something else. Um, I feel like maybe it had a chance, but after that I was like, yeah, we need to start.
00:21:47
Speaker
We need to change directions and figure out how to bring, wrap this up and bring it home, you know?
00:21:54
Speaker
Uh, anything else big off of Saturday night's main event? I was pretty surprised to see Zelina get the clean as a sheet win over, over Chelsea, man. That was, yeah I wonder what I'm assuming they're, uh, getting Chelsea set up to move on up the card for the, uh, to go for the, the big belt. But yeah, that, that one was surprising to me. i thought there was a decent chance Chelsea was one of that belt back. I was honestly a little surprised by the definitive win over a Drew McIntyre, dude. I know this is sending Drew off, you know, to be off TV for a little while, dude. But it was just, I mean, I just felt like, damn, dude. Yeah, with all the, like, the stray false reports that they've had in the ah the dirt sheets over the last, like, year and a half, really the entire Triple h era, I assumed that the Drew McIntyre injury stuff that was coming out late last week was all just, like, ah a red herring a little bit to kind of get us off the trail. But, no, it looks like that was...
00:22:41
Speaker
That was accurate. um What do you guys think of Bronson Reed joining up with ah with Seth and Braun? I like it. i think it's I think it's cool. I think it is a little weird having a Braun and a Bronson. They need to bring back Braun Strowman.
00:22:55
Speaker
Like, let's go, dude. What are we waiting on? Let's get all the Braun. Yeah, let's just dig in. If there's ever a chance for to make it another comeback, it'd be it's right now. Yeah, I do think bring big Bronson Reed.
00:23:06
Speaker
ah You know, because it seemed like, you know, Braun or... ah ah Bron Breaker was going to be like, kind of like the enforcer. Right. yeah And now he's a little bit watered down. Cause he's standing next to freaking Bronson Reed. And it's like, dude, he's, he looks like a freaking brick shithouse. You know what mean? Not that Bronson Reed is any, you know, small dude, but standing next to Bronson Reed. I think it's a good move for Bronson Reed. I think he definitely fits with him. I do agree. I think the loser at all this is Braun Breaker because it kind of, when it was just him, Seth, and Paul Heyman, it was kind of like ah you know a dark side Sith, like Master and Apprentice type deal between Braun and Seth.
00:23:42
Speaker
But now it's like, now he's a stormtrooper. Yeah, now he's more Bebop and Rocksteady to Seth Shredder. Yeah, that's a good that's a good analogy. Yeah. for keeping the pop culture, uh, crossovers going. So, I mean, Braun's such star. He'll still be fine, but yeah, I want him to add one more member. I really want Becky in this group, man. I think, I think a girl would set it off. Yeah. put Becky in a group, make it like a modern day dangerous Alliance type deal.
00:24:02
Speaker
I think that'd be pretty bad-ass. We'll see if it comes to pass, but the three of them now, yeah, I, I still think Seth's going to get that world heavyweight championship sooner rather than later. Um, but But yeah, it's cool. think Bronson Reed. Yeah, they are badass. um You know, it's it's giving shades of like um when Seth had the AOP. But like the AOP, they're so similar that it was just like they were just like the twins on Breaking Bad. yeah know what I mean? Like the twin cousins where it's just like, oh, God, like they're both badass. They're both going to kill me. But Bron and Bronson Reed are so distinctive in like their...
00:24:34
Speaker
wrestling styles and just like their characters and stuff that i feel like uh you know it's it's and we gotta figure like why why after seth and braun uh bronson have had i keep brought saying braun and bronson so many times yeah you're really you're really having a time here dude yeah is uh i feel like they beat the shit out of each other you know what i mean They did. But and that's why Seth's the architect, man. So that's why, you know, keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer to it. So instead of having this guy lurking out there, Seth just brought him into the family, man. It makes it makes it makes perfect sense. I guess. Yeah. With heel set. Yeah, you're right. This does. It's a lot of callback to like the the early Messiah run when he had that group with Buddy Murphy and AOP. And and I think Austin Theory was with him for a little bit.
00:25:16
Speaker
Jordan, what was your thoughts, man, on Bronson Reed joining this faction? Don't worry. You want to say Bronson Long? I'm sure he'll be Big Reed in like two weeks. I wouldn't worry about it. like Oh, no. They're not going to allow us to fumble the names very long. got It's got to. You saw how I was like, I had to like, my brain was like crossing. Pain the butt, dude. I had to like think like Braun, Breaker, Bronson Reed.
00:25:37
Speaker
They should have just brought it. Like, I think he's not as well established enough. i think the fans would just forgive him. Let it go. Let him go by Jonah. Like he did like his name in new Japan and on the Indies and stuff. Like just say, Hey, you know, big Bronson's dead. Here's Jonah. And I think it'll be so much more convenient for the fans. Yeah. Yeah.
00:25:52
Speaker
I like the faction. i kind of like what they're doing. You have two guys that um need to get more established with Bron and Bronson. um i agree with you. They definitely need to add a girl to the the faction.
00:26:06
Speaker
I really wish this would have been a tag team instead of Bronson, though. Like, I just... yeah I like having like one element from all parts of the show. on For sure. and like I feel like Braun was already the up-and-comer guy. that i mean Eventually, this thing is going to end with Braun and Seth wrestling. like that There's no other way that this ends other than that.
00:26:27
Speaker
Braun's going to get the title from Seth, which is makes it even more confusing why you added Bronson. That's why I just... Well, I think maybe that maybe that's the catalyst, right? Maybe like he's just like, dude, I thought we were in it. And then you want to fucking bring in Bronson Reed. You know what I mean? I think i think it's going to be a modern version of the Evolution storyline with Braun playing the Batista role and Seth in the Triple h i was kind of Jordan, let you mentioned bringing in a tag team. I was kind of fantasy booking and bringing the Street Street Profits would have been awesome, dude.
00:26:52
Speaker
I think Street Profits would have good with this group. They're kind of back in the all black. you know I think the aesthetics would look good. And yeah, dude, Seth, Braun... the street profits and Becky, that's like a God tier faction for me, man. That would have been sick. so I agree. A tag team would have been nice. Yeah.
00:27:06
Speaker
and I mean, it'll be good. Like it's, it's a cool, um, aesthetic seeing Bronson and Braun on, on the wings of Seth. Like it is, it does look really cool, but don't know.
00:27:17
Speaker
I just wish it would have been a tag team instead of Bronson, I guess. Anybody got any closing thoughts on Saturday night's main event before we move over to the NXT of it all? You didn't want to talk about the highlight of Saturday night's main event, the 70 minutes of commercials?
00:27:31
Speaker
It was ridiculous, bro. Sam Roberts, which we know he's on the payroll. He's a friend of the pod. He says if you go math it out, that it was the same. And maybe it was, but the way it was laid out, man, it felt like we'd get back and you'd see a couple moves and it'd be a commercial, man. And then like you said it was entrance and then a commercial, man. Yeah, he said it was 19 minutes of commercials. I'm thinking maybe it was, maybe for whatever reason, maybe they were doing more commercial breaks and they were just slightly shorter. But yeah, it felt like every time I turned around, they were going to, it's like they were either coming in from a commercial break or going out to a commercial break. Like, so yeah, I didn't go back and time it like that, but I'm right there with you, dude. It definitely felt like we were in nonstop commercial breaks, uh, during the show. Ridiculous.
00:28:10
Speaker
Um, NXT Battleground, really, really fun show. Went straight up head to head with Double or Nothing. I think Double or Nothing was is definitely the more you know critically acclaimed show and stuff. But I thought NXT more than held their own, man. It was a to it was a damn good night of wrestling on its own.
00:28:26
Speaker
um Shout out to Miles Bourne. Did a great job. Almost put off the upset against Obafemi. But I think obviously the big story coming out of this, Trick Williams is the TNA champion.
00:28:37
Speaker
Yeah, that was a not what I was expecting at all for the end of that show. I mean... i was surprised. Yeah, it was shocking to see him win it, but cool. I mean, I love tricks. I can't be mad at it at all.
00:28:49
Speaker
I was... what We were watching... I think you were out. so we You were watching everything kind of catching up Sunday, right, Jordan? Yeah, I watched a lot of stuff on um Monday as well. I just kind of watched highlights of everything on Monday. and oh yeah, Monday. That's what I meant. I forgot it was a Sunday night show and we had the holiday the next day. We... ah um we So we had both TVs going side by side. We were just alternating which one we had the sound going on.
00:29:11
Speaker
Literally, as ah Bodies by Drowning Pool was hitting during the Anarch in the Arena match, was that was right as Trick Williams was winning the TNA Championship. But that was just like a peak moment of ah of wrestling fandom right there. It was just super lit, man. The stuff happening on um both broadcasts at the same time. But yeah, pretty dang cool, man, for Trick to to win the belt. Yeah.
00:29:31
Speaker
Crazy, crazy last year in TNA wrestling. Moving on to Tuesday, we had a couple of shocking results. So Ethan Page beat Ricky Stark slash Ricky Saints for the North American Championship. And then the big shocker, J.C. Jane, after about five years in NXT, wins the women's championship from Stephanie Vakour.
00:29:49
Speaker
I cannot believe they took that belt off her, man. Like I just after she beat Jordan Grace, I just assumed, hey, this is going be a long run at this point. And then, nope, just ends that night.
00:30:01
Speaker
Yeah, supposedly she's debuting on the Raw roster very shortly. I'm kind of with you, man. like i I guess maybe they just want to give put one last feather in her cap by getting that clean win on Jordan Grace. and Maybe they want to save Jordan Grace's crowning moment for another time. But yeah, if if you know you're taking the belt off for this week, why not just put it on Jordan Grace instead of J.C. Jane? All respect to J.C. Jane. I like J.C. Jane. She's totally good, but I don't think she's anywhere close to the level of a Jordan Grace or Stephanie Becour.
00:30:29
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. Do you think maybe they're calling Jordan Grace up too? I don't know. Because, dude, theyre i mean they already snatched up Julia after about, what, less than six months. yeah Stephanie Vaquora is going to be less than a year.
00:30:42
Speaker
and They need to have somebody anchoring it. You know what i mean? If if if the plan is to take Mariah May and maybe they're clearing the deck a little bit, and maybe Mariah May and Jordan Grace are your two top ladies in NXT for the next year or so. so It's crowded on both sides. The main roster and NXT are both crowded in the women's divisions right now, but it seems like they've been clearing their deck a little bit from some of the top part of the card on NXT because they got some awesome ladies down there. Go watch that Soul Rucka-Kalani Jordan match. That was really good. Yes, that was insane as well. There's some decent prospects on the men's side, but I think the women's side is just the future so bright right now for WWE.
00:31:21
Speaker
Let's go to AEW, man. Jordan, what did you think of Double or Nothing? It was really good. um I didn't watch every single match, if I'm being honest. I watched kind of what Seth told me to watch, and then um just kind of from there... Neither did I. I was dozing in and out, dude. It was a long show. From there, I watched um just certain matches during the week. I just got on YouTube or Twitter and just found it. and Yeah, it was a good show, man. Yeah.
00:31:46
Speaker
I obviously didn't watch it live, so I don't know how the pacing was, which I assume it's the same as every AEW show. They always pace their shows really well. ah Main event was, I mean, that's going to be up there for match of the year for me at the end of this year. like Yeah, it's it may be number one right now. It really, I'm glad that they reestablished Hangman on top. Like, I didn't expect it, but I'm glad that they did it.
00:32:09
Speaker
Him and Ospreay just made magic. That match was awesome. Yeah, I audibly popped, ba when hey man, when Hangman got the three count. We were stoked. It was a great match, man. Me and Brett stayed up and watched to the end of it.
00:32:21
Speaker
Just two of the best in the world went out. is a great is They had a great story coming into the match. I thought there was some really great storytelling like within the way they worked the match. And yeah, Hangman's the dude, man. um I definitely cringed a little bit. Did you see that story that came out this week, Jordan, that they were both arguing about, you know, both were wanting put the other one over backstage?
00:32:41
Speaker
What? That should have never came out. That's so stupid. And maybe it's just the toxic side of me, dude. I get it. that Yeah, it's probably a good sign for the company. But, you know, I'm an attitude error kid. I remember Brett and Sean ready to kill each other over who's going to go over their matches. So I kind of...
00:32:56
Speaker
That's more kind of what I want to hear on backstage. I want my main event guys to want to be the guy. A story leaked this week, Sheen, that Hangman and Will Ospreay were both campaigning for the other one to win the match. Oh, God. I know. Like said, it's probably good thing to have. Again, as a parent, yes, I would love it. If I was like, oh, that's my son. He's such a good boy. But as a fan, I want both these guys to want to get that freaking dog, dude. them to be bloodthirsty they supposedly didn't decide who was winning that match until sunday afternoon so i mean yeah i don't think you could have went wrong either way i just i don't think that story needed to come out but you're right that is really good for backstage the fact that two of your top guys aren't arguing about this but yeah we grew up the attitude era where it was like kill or be killed like yeah Triple H coming up to the create. Am I fucking going over tonight? Hulk Hogan, that doesn't work for me, brother. Give me a little bit more of that, man. I want to know that behind the scenes, these guys are freaking dying to be the world champ. Or don't release the story.
00:33:59
Speaker
True. I don't think there's any doubt that both of these guys want to be world champ. I mean, dude, they're... Both incredible. And I mean, you don't get to this level without being a little bit cutthroat, right? At certain points. But yeah, when it's like something like that at one of your biggest shows and it's like one of the biggest matches you've had, it's like little bit more scattish. Maybe it wasn't so much that they were, you know, neither one wanted to be world champ. Maybe neither one them was wanting job to Mox at all in. True. You know, that's a scene in the future, like the tea leaves line There, you know, Mox is going to freaking come away with another one, man. You know, that's a very valid point. You take this one.
00:34:34
Speaker
You take this one, bro. go yeah You take this one, bro, and we'll what happens. That's a very valid point. I'm a little bit more confident after seeing how they played it on Wednesday night with like, it seems like we got, you know, the Power Rangers joining up to take down the Death Riders. I think...
00:34:48
Speaker
I think I'm leaning towards Mox is dropping this belt at all in and maybe Darby just, you know, gives the assist as opposed to Darby being and the one to to take the belt from him. see that would be okay with that Yeah. I think it was like, you know, don't bring Darby back. If he, but if he comes back and like gets the audience all hyped up and like, you know, is it, is an assistant to the win. I'm thinking he's like the closing part, you know, yeah it looks like the death riders finally got the numbers game once again, then Darby comes out to even the score. I think, yeah I think you still get your moment and you still put Darby over huge that way. Um,
00:35:16
Speaker
But yeah, i it's going to be a fun match, man. Mox's run, has it's been great, dude. I know a lot of people have been hating. We've never flinched, man. We're all in on Mox, dude. ah yeah And we'll see what happens. I wore a Mox shirt front row when he wrestled Edge in Omaha just so everybody knew my my alliances were with Mox. Everybody else is booing him. I'm like, keep going.
00:35:38
Speaker
I know, man. and It's gotten over this point, dude. Like said, it's not the bloodline, but I think it's the closest thing to the bloodline that AEW could get in less than a year. You know what I mean? Because blood the Death Riders haven't really been around that long.
00:35:50
Speaker
And they're already, I think they're going to be long a long time remembered heel act because people have just hated them so freaking much. that's me. I don't, I love mocks, dude. I just don't like the Death Riders, dude. I feel like it's just this this gang of misfits, which I'm sure that's the vibe they're going for, but but it's just. They lost little something when Pat got injured, dude. Pat being there, I leveled him up, dude, because I still think he's one of the best wrestlers in the world. And I really like Marina Shafir. I think she's got some serious, like, just aura. Yeah, cool.
00:36:16
Speaker
She's got, like, China vibes, dude. Yeah, I'm with you, dude. Claudio and Wheeler Yuda, if they're not in the Death Riders, they're not doing a whole lot for me, but I think it's part of the gig. Wheeler Yuda's hair, I just, oh, my God. I think the misfit thing helps, though, because it makes you hate him even more. It's like, why are these guys even here? Yeah.
00:36:32
Speaker
They're doing their job is it making me just like annoying me. One thing I will say is whenever Mox does lose the belt, the pop is going to be massive. And so Tony has done his job on the booking on that. Like the the massive pop that i'm I'm assuming as well that Hangman wins. I mean, i you can't.
00:36:50
Speaker
assume anything in AEW but I would assume Hangman wins this match and that pop is going to be incredible and yeah putting the Young Bucks with ah with the Death Riders was the best possible scenario for AEW because they booed them out of the building the entire match like they were getting booed the whole match I thought Anarchy in the arena was cool. They found a way to keep that concept going for least another year. There were still a lot of fresh spots and stuff.
00:37:16
Speaker
Women took a beating. We didn't escalate it in. Nobody got shot. you know That's what I've kind of mentioned in the past, man, that you know eventually these matches are getting so insane that it's going to somebody just pulling out a Glock underneath the ring and just shooting somebody in the thigh to before they get the three count. But I thought it was pretty cool. yeah and then The music was a nice little bit. Yeah, Willow and Shafir took some really bad bumps in that match. They did not hold back. was like, Same. um So let's you know we've done it every time there's been a big match. Let's call it.
00:37:48
Speaker
All in. Does Mox walk out as champion? No. No. I'll say yes, dude. I'll be the devil's advocate. You won't. You know you want Hangman to win the belt again, man.
00:38:00
Speaker
and Not over Mox, dude. Not over Mox, man. I'm rooting for Mox to keep it, man. I think there's more story to tell, dude. What happens if Hangman wins? It's going to feel good for a little bit, and then what do you do? Because whoever wins that is going to staring down the barrel of fighting Will Ospreay at ah Forbidden Door, dude. I don't know if Hangman can beat Mox and then beat Will Ospreay again if that's the way they go.
00:38:20
Speaker
you think You think they're pulling the trigger on that? I think it'll be a crossover match at Forbidden Door. I don't even know who's left in New Japan at this point, but I'm sure that's who... and i'm just I'm just saying, Hangman's going to wrestle whoever's left in New Japan or whoever else they do that show with. I just...
00:38:36
Speaker
True. they They very rarely do like just a straight-up AEW versus AEW guy at Forbidden Door. like It'll be some kind of crossover. Yeah, trying to I think you're 100% right. I don't think they have done AEW. I think it's always been versus New Japan or some sort of Fatal 4 way or something. Yeah.
00:38:54
Speaker
Yeah, we'll see. I think Monk's going to find a way to keep it going, though, man. Maybe maybe they really do go all the way with Darby winning the belt from him. Because if not, i don't know I don't really see another Darby world title opportunity bubbling up, man. That's I said to Sheena last week. I think Hangman or Will Ospreay, I think they're always going to be you know a couple degrees away from the world championship, no matter what. like You can kind of just, for whatever reason, give them a match on a random dynamite.
00:39:16
Speaker
And there's a reasonable chance they could be champ. Whereas Darby, I feel like you really kind of got to lay some groundwork and get the stars to align if you're going to make him a world champ. And I think they do have the groundwork set for that right now. it's just a matter of if they got the stomach to have Mox win another big pay-per-view.
00:39:30
Speaker
Both all in so far ended with a big baby face ending though. So that's why I'm expecting a happy ending on this one too. This is going to be most likely end up being the biggest show they've ever had in the States. So I don't think you want to send the fans home upset.
00:39:42
Speaker
True. Yeah. um Figure news, not really a lot this week. We mentioned it in the opening that Elite 118 is in stock at ah ringside. The other big thing is that the new Ultimate Edition Steve Austin is starting to show up on shelves. You seen this one, Jordan, with the that's got the soft goods Daisy Duke shorts? Yeah, this is a good figure.
00:40:01
Speaker
Yeah, I know. I'm not a huge fan of the soft, good shorts, man. But I think the actual as far as the actual build of the figure, it's some updated legs and arms on Steve Austin. I think it's probably the best just straight up Steve Austin figure ever, man. So I think yeah I'm probably tossing those denim shorts because I got a couple of good elites with the the the molded shorts.
00:40:19
Speaker
But I do think this is probably going to be my default Steve Austin. I don't think I'm going to go eBay, but if I see this one on the shelf, I'm definitely grabbing it. Man, what? We have, ah it's been a while since there's been something to go hunt at the stores. Like, this is this is a weird time to be a wrestling figure collector. we're just We're just kind of in a dead period right now. Yeah, it really has been, man. You know, we got the big burst of news at WrestleMania. We got...
00:40:42
Speaker
Comic-Con coming up around the corner, but as far as what's hitting the pegs, it's nothing. And, you know, Target's made it so easy, like, that you trade off the convenience of being able to just grab stuff from the app. You miss out on that that kind of thrill of the hunt, which, you know, Blasco beers has been more of the frustration of the hunt, but you still miss out on that because you can just find the stuff at your fingertips. And then even the Monday Night Wars, those have started to become available on Mattel Creations now, so Yeah, it's definitely dead period for sure. I think that's the best way to describe it. It's been the same way with the figure news. We haven't had enough to do a full-fledged figure segment in over a month now.
00:41:13
Speaker
um So we'll still wait and see. We know Jordan's got a hot-ass date to get to you. Sheena, do we got some listener mail? Yep.
00:41:28
Speaker
All right. First question from our boy, Johnny JB with Mercedes Monet challenging for the AEW title. Do you feel like this is where she should have been from, uh, been from her start at AEW and I'll piggyback Phil Dunnett also had a Monet question. He said, what do you think Monet has on TK to win all these titles?
00:41:44
Speaker
I think he's just in love with her, man. I think he knows that she was a crown jewel of WWE. WWE definitely wanted her back. I think they went very, very hard to try to get her back in the fold after Vince left and he won out on, you know she picked Tony, right? She chose him. So I think he's just smitten with her. I'm not a Mercedes fan. I never loved her in WWE. She definitely had some moments that were like legendary, but I was never a huge Sasha fan.
00:42:05
Speaker
And then it got personal with me. you know, Norfolk, Virginia was the city that she walked out on. She quit the day of Raw and, you know She may have been very well justified on doing that, but I know we were at SmackDown in Norfolk about six months prior to that, and she was one of the absolute most over people there.
00:42:20
Speaker
and It was especially with the little kids, man. The kids went crazy when Sasha Banks came out. so I know for a fact there were a lot of kids that were super excited in Norfolk. and you know It's one of me and Sheena's adopted homes, man. There were a lot of kids that were excited to see her that night. and She bailed on the day of the show.
00:42:36
Speaker
and ah For that, man, I just can't forgive her, dude. Yeah. uh i'm not a fucking fan dude like i i think so i don't think she should have been at the world championship i don't think she should have been the tbs champ man i think she should be on some freaking second rate show in a uh sumo hall in japan right now man dear god dear god dude That's my CEO. name That was like looking back on it at the time. I didn't really think anything of it, but that was a huge win for Tony getting her to play AEW because you're right. I mean, she's one of the four horsewomen like there. There's no denying it. I mean, Bailey and all them still love her and go to her matches and stuff. So there's got to be something to be said about that.
00:43:16
Speaker
I'm, for one, I'm glad that they didn't put her on the top of the card immediately. i do think Sasha's really talented, but I'm glad they let her burn for a little while before they put her this high.
00:43:27
Speaker
I think she wins, but that's just me. I don't think we got this far to just come this far. I agree. I think she wins. I hope she's ready for dude, because I, you know, who obviously we know nothing about this woman, right? We really don't. We we get a very tiny glimpse into what she lost publicly. But from what we see, man, I think she's got a little bit of a fragile psyche, a little bit of like CM Punk type thing, like, let you know let me be accepted. Yep.
00:43:52
Speaker
And I think that in her mind or maybe in Tony Khan's mind, maybe her and Tony Storm have this barn burner and it ends with, you know, both ladies standing up and she gets to do her thing where she cries after winning the championship and everybody's clapping a great match.
00:44:05
Speaker
Dude, I think if she beats Tony Storm for this belt, she's going to be hated more than ever, man. I think pete i don't think people are going to be. but I don't care if they have, you know, the greatest match we've ever seen, man. I think people are going to absolutely hate her if she takes the belt off of Tony. Yeah. I don't think they like her now. I think she's put on some decent enough matches where she begrudgingly gets some respect from the crowd.
00:44:24
Speaker
But if she thinks this is going to be the start of something where she's beloved by the AEW crowd, no. I think the hate is going to get turned up like 10 notches if she manages to beat Toni Storm for this belt. I really... and I know it's not going to happen, but...
00:44:35
Speaker
if they just killed the music and just gave her a different music, I think that would take away at least 30% of the CEO music. is like see It's miserable. The fake chance piped in and you see the crowd just sitting on their hands.
00:44:50
Speaker
So bad. what We have to say, dude, we've never seen Snoop Dogg in AEW, dude. He's never showed up with Sasha in AEW. Yeah, that's weird because he was Snoop did some stuff with AEW, but he did some stuff with Cody, right? Didn't Snoop come out with Cody once?
00:45:03
Speaker
Yeah. yeah He did a lot of stuff with with w WWE, but I think all that stuff's obviously over at this point. Yeah. um Yeah. you know I didn't pipe in much, but I was actually i was a Mercedes fan or a Sasha Banks fan. I liked Sasha Banks until the whole situation where she started all the backstage drama of saying that you know they didn't use her ride or da-da-da-da-da. was like, dude, she just had way too many moments that like women like never even sniffed. Man, first women's Hell in a Cell match. She's there.
00:45:32

First ever one-on-one women's match in a WrestleMania main event. You know numerous championships. Yeah, maybe she never had the Roman Reigns title run, but dude, she was used. I mean, honestly, if you just look at the stats, dude, it's probably Charlotte and maybe Becky are the only two women in WWE to ever have a better run than her.
00:45:48
Speaker
Exactly, dude. So it was just the lack of gratitude and like this, the total like tone deafness. First ever women's tag team champion. Yeah. To me, if anybody in the four horsemen women has a complaint, it's Bailey. Like the one who's been lesser than the other three. She gets used the worst out of the three. And I love Bailey still. Yeah.
00:46:05
Speaker
And Bailey's always trying to just make the best with what she's had, dude. You know what I mean? Like every gimmick she's had, she's really just tried to like give it her all. And I feel like Sasha is just ungrateful. carried SmackDown for a year or two with that role model gimmick. like Oh, yeah. And she never once complained about anything. Like, I love Bailey.
00:46:23
Speaker
Can never make me hate Bayley. Yeah, I i like Bayley. Tony Barker, with R-Truth's cosplay of John Cena at Saturday night's main event, who is your all-time favorite wrestling doppelganger?
00:46:35
Speaker
so i don't know if he means like doppelganger or if he means like... Hall dressed up as Sting, man. Too easy. Oh, it's Big Show dressed up as Hulk Hogan. Let me tell you something, Kurt Angle, dude. You know, you had Sean dressed up.
00:46:47
Speaker
and Sean did a good Hulk Hogan. thought you were going to say God. Velveteen Dream did a good Hulk Hogan. He did Red and Yellow Hulk, and he did Hollywood Hulk, man. Well, he who shall not be mentioned.
00:46:59
Speaker
Who's that? Velveteen Dream. We don't mention the name Velveteen Dream. That seems like, ah you know, not to pardon the pun, it seems like a fever dream his whole run, dude. Yeah, does. Because was like, he could have been the chosen one, dude. He had the look, the charisma, the in-ring, everything, and it just went up in smoke in the blink of an eye. crazy.
00:47:16
Speaker
yeah I thought about that the other day when I saw one of the Velveteen Dream figures on my shelf downstairs. He was so like, dude, that so over. was awful. awesome man he was awesome dude that awesome matches just the RO was there like everything gear was always on point ring gear and entrance was always on point uh there's been some good ones man i'm ah I'm always a sucker for this kind of thing I'm going back thinking about Seth SummerSlam 2020 when he dressed up as Rey Mysterio from uh uh Halloween Havoc 97 yeah what about Sting as Sting What do you mean? When he took off his mask. Oh yeah. It was underneath. He's done that a couple of times. We had, uh, he had Seth when he was dusty roads. Remember that one?
00:47:56
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're just talking about ring gear. There's, i mean, you could really go down the the rabbit hole. i feel like there's been a lot of, uh, it's still a crying shame that during that Seth and Cody feud, Seth never came out with the face paint of stardust, man.
00:48:08
Speaker
Yeah. Such a layup right there. yes wait man Or at least the suit at the very least. Yeah. Yeah. um Johnny JB, this last question. He says, is there a video game you loved as a kid, but when you played it as an adult, you hated it I feel like NFL blitz is aged poorly, man. I got a, uh, in 64. I haven't played it as an adult, but yeah as a kid, it was like one of the most fun video games ever, man. And I revisited a couple years back. I got N64 cartridge cause blitz was always the best with that N64 controller with a single analog stick. It was perfect for it.
00:48:41
Speaker
And dude, it just, it just did not translate, man. I don't know. Like if it was just being grown up or all the, all cause you wouldn't think it was never super realistic to begin with. So you wouldn't think like, um, It would have aged very poorly, right? it felt like something would age really well.
00:48:56
Speaker
But I just did not have fun with it at all when I tried to pick it back up. It was it was a bummer. It did not age the same as NBA Jam, that's for sure. NBA Jam still hits. Yeah, i don't know if it's just the plays or what, man. but yeah, I just got super frustrated trying to play Blitz as, ah you know, 25 years later. So yeah, and NBA Jam still hits like a mofo, man.
00:49:14
Speaker
I haven't played it as an adult, but I remember even, mean, I liked this game as a kid, but playing Crash Bandicoot when I was a kid, like the levels were really freaking hard. I feel like I would not have the same patience for it today because I love a good side-scroller. Well, it wasn't a side-scroller. It was a 3D platformer. It was where you'd into the screen. True, yeah. I think most of those 3D platformers from like the PS1,
00:49:35
Speaker
And like N64 era aged pretty poorly because they've they've been able to do those so well. Like the side scrollers, the the good side scrollers from back in the day, they're basically the same as like the good side scrollers. Yeah, you still go back and play Mario. But the 3D platform and has advanced so much farther in the...
00:49:51
Speaker
the last 20 years, that it makes those earlier ones look really rough. Like the Crash Bandicoots, the Mario 64s, games like that, man, are yeah really, really tough to go back to. just remember, because i was I'm like a coin... When I play something like that, I want to get all the coins, all the treasures, all the things. I'm a completionist.
00:50:05
Speaker
And I remember it being really freaking hard, dude. I'm like, you know, I don't think I would dig it today. I'm not saying this game's bad, but I did go back and play this about a month ago, and for some reason, it just does not hit the same anymore with Star Fox. Like, when... Dude, I was going to say Star Fox. I remember know they playing that game when I was a kid and just like being so enamored with it. Now it's just like, yeah don't know if it's the graphics or the control or something, but i played it for like 10 minutes. I'm like, okay, this is awful now. In my mind, Star Fox is freaking It's the coolest, man. Yeah. I think there's there's got to be... I'm going to do a deep dive on Reddit or just Google it afterwards. There's got to be some sort of science to it man, that why some games age so poorly. Because I'm with you, dude. I remember playing Star Fox as a kid, and like to me, it felt like it was from 10 years the future, right? Yeah. It was like, man, this is like unlike anything I played before, but now it's aged so crappily, dude. Yeah. It's like...
00:50:57
Speaker
I look back and I'm like, man, I'm like, what was I thinking, dude? But, but then, you know, games came out at the same time for you, like Donkey Kong Country, like Super Mario World. Donkey Kong still hits. They still hang, man. Like they're still like damn near just as much fun as they were playing them as a kid. But yeah, Star Fox feels like it might as well be something off ColecoVision now, man. Yeah, true. And I feel like not just aging poorly, but like, I feel like I remember in those games and even like in Crash Bandicoot, like there weren't, like you there was no saves. Like if you, if you got killed, like you had to just like start all the way to freak over, dude. It was just like, you know, damn, bro. Like,
00:51:26
Speaker
we I worked all damn day on this. Games today are so much easier also. I think that's another factor. day There was like, there was no forgiveness on the games of the past. Yeah. that That wraps up listener mail, but that was a great question. Yeah. Great question, Johnny JP. Another good batch. Um, that's about it for us, man. Definitely want to wish Jordan and Ari a happy anniversary. Jordan, we're going to need to follow up next week. Let us know what the, uh, the standout items were at the Brazilian steakhouse. I remember, uh,
00:51:51
Speaker
Fogo de Chow. That's the big one, right? That place is really good. Yeah. I always did. thing that stood out to me, even aside from all like the great beef cuts and stuff, they had this like wine soaked chicken that was like incredible, man. I used to always look forward to that. You know, I know it's kind of going against the grain.
00:52:07
Speaker
Um, liking the chicken stuff at the brazilian steakhouse but yeah that uh that place is good man there was a there was a brazilian steakhouse we'd go to in bahrain that also had bottomless margaritas and like i don't know if it was to maybe get you to drink more and like eat less of like the good stuff but like dude the waiters were very aggressive like you get like halfway through your margarita they're like topping you off and yeah there's another another peak dining experience right there yeah jordan do you just keep your do you just keep your little coaster flipped over to green the entire time yeah and just Keep it coming, dude. But apparently this one has like a really good um like salad bar and cold and a bunch of other stuff and shark. Don't what don't even waste. Don't even waste no gut space on that. No, I'm not going to.
00:52:50
Speaker
Yeah, that tell and tell all your friends. if You know, like six other girls are going to like go to the salad bar and all the guys will just have the green flipped over the entire time. Yeah, dude. You cannot. When you're going somewhere like that, especially nowadays where shit's so expensive, you got to save all of your belly room for meat. Next ah next time you come back to Tennessee, Jordan, we found a badass all-you-can-eat sushi place, man, that we'll take you to, dude.
00:53:14
Speaker
Oh, yeah. We'll do some freaking damage, man. I can house some sushi, man. Me too, dude. we always go this place here it's called hero and um we always get much juicy as possible and they bring out the boat and everybody like looks at us i'm like yeah we're gonna fucking eat it all just relax it's okay this is all you can eat they just come by every five minutes like what you want to order now and you get the whole menu at your disposal like it's uh it's good i do some real damage there they'll probably change the prices after i leave All right, Sheen, this was some closing thoughts and we'll get out of here. I just want to echo what you said. Happy anniversary to the fig god and his illustrious wife, Ari.
