Introduction and Game Preview

00:00:21
Speaker
Hello and welcome to the week 15 preview episode of the Ohana Packers edition podcast. I am Milojo and again I have no mic with me. So this is going to be a fun episode of me just talking to myself and hopefully I can get some information out to you guys for this upcoming game. So there is a game Seattle Seahawks week 15.
00:00:52
Speaker
7.20 p.m. Central Time in Seattle. And that's it. Thanks for listening.

Injury Reports Analysis

00:01:04
Speaker
Be sure to check us out at ohanapackers.org and see you next time.
00:01:13
Speaker
Oh, wait, you guys want more information? So, okay. Oh, I know that was a cheap shot at humor, but Give me a break here. i'm I'm on my own. So let's see what we can do here. So of course, like I said, week 15 Seattle Seahawks at Seattle. It is the Sunday night game.
00:01:44
Speaker
Let's start with
00:01:50
Speaker
Let's start with injury reports. So as everybody knows, the Packers is pretty long, but this is one of those rare instances where the Seahawks injury report is even longer. So not to go through all of them, but we will talk about some So big names would be Leonard Williams, who was, has a foot injury, but he was also on a rest day. He was not practicing. Tyler Lockett was not practicing for a rest day. Same for Jaren Reed. Uh, DK met Metcalf was a full participant with shoulder injury.
00:02:38
Speaker
Uh, you channel one zoo with, was a full participant with a thigh and Michael Dixon, the punter, uh, was limited with a back injury. Now that would be interesting to see what they do if he is not able to go. Cause without looking to see if they have anybody on the practice squad, you know, if he can't go, who's going to do punting, they got to hope that they don't have to punt.
00:03:10
Speaker
But really, I'm not seeing any that Trey Brown hamstring did not practice. Jarek Reed quadricep did not practice.
00:03:27
Speaker
And that was about it for any possibilities of not playing this week. Good news on the Packers front, Jair Alexander was full participant. Uh, Adrian Cooper was a limited Romeo Dobbs is still going through concussion protocol, but it has him listed as a full participant. Uh, Lucas van Ness Rashid Walker were full participants. Evan Williams is listed as a limited, but he's still going through the concussion protocol and.
00:04:04
Speaker
Luke Musgrave's window of being activated is open because he started practicing today, which as a recording, it'd be Wednesday. So that is good news.

Player Performances and Roles

00:04:17
Speaker
I did mention on the the post-game episode that is going to be interesting to see what they do with Musgraves with how well Kraft has really solidified his spot as the the starter for the Packers. Musgraves is a completely different type of tight end. He has a stretch of the field type of tight end.
00:04:41
Speaker
and not really a blocker or a contact type tight end. So there is a different use for him, but he's had trouble measuring in the offense. So it'll be interesting to see how he does when he comes back fully. Uh, like I said, the big, the troubling one is they're still listing Romeo as going through the concussion protocol. And this is weak.
00:05:10
Speaker
three since the injury and That's kind of concerning when they are still going through the concussion protocols through that time now bad news is Jevon Bullard was a do not participate or did not participate with a with an ankle injury I Would imagine they're gonna give him the rest of the week and he will be a game-time decision And You know
00:05:38
Speaker
don't rush him back, let him heal up the best he can. But if he can go, let him go. Cause he definitely needs to see the field and get some work in. But like I said, don't rush him back. Other than that,
00:05:54
Speaker
The list is pretty much normal foot for what we've dealt with the last few weeks. So no other big surprises, but it would be big to get Jair back. It would be big to get Musgrave back. It would be huge if we get Romeo back.
00:07:08
Speaker
So looking at the matchup, of course, you know, the big weapons for Seattle would be DK and Jackson Smith and Jigba, uh, Kenneth Walker Jr. Uh, even though he's, you know, he is listed as a DNP on the injury report. If he's out, that would be a huge loss for Seattle.
00:07:36
Speaker
same thing for DK, but it looked like DK was a full participant, even though he's going through an injury.
00:07:46
Speaker
So, you know, like I said, DK, Jackson Smith, and Jigva, uh,
00:08:03
Speaker
I guess I definitely got to talk about it because he's really stepped up. Everybody had him rode off for the longest time as a bath bus, but he's really stepped up for Seattle.
00:08:17
Speaker
He's not like the greatest quarterback in the world, but he has been so serviceable. He's not top 10, but you can definitely put him in the top 20 and G and that's Geno Smith. Like I said, for years to, he'd bounced around and he was with the jets. He didn't really do anything with the jets. Excuse me. Then he bounced around to the giants and the chargers, and then he ended up in Seattle.
00:08:45
Speaker
And he kind of really took over in Seattle and, you know, in 2022 2023 was voted to the pro bowl. And he actually got votes for MVP and or AP MVP and AP comeback player of the year. So, I mean, that's just shows you how much work he's put in to get back to being what they thought he was going to be when he was drafted. ah ah So.
00:09:15
Speaker
And he's a bit of a mobile guy. He can get outside the pocket. So you got to kind of watch for him to do that a little bit. Uh, he is a turnover machine. He's thrown 12 interceptions on the year to his 14 touchdowns. Uh, he has been getting hit a lot. So that shows that their lines and not the greatest. So hopefully this, this pass rush can.
00:09:44
Speaker
have one of its up games.

Defensive Strategies Discussion

00:09:49
Speaker
he's like I said he's a bit of a mobile guy so he has ran for 226 yards and two touchdowns on the year so you have to be careful of that and with as much as he's been hit as long as you can get pressure on him he is going to make a mistake and you know having Jair back will help out a lot because he'll be able to cover either I know this is where Mike would say probably not DK because of how much DK would overshadow him. But definitely on Smith and Jigba, but you would hope that the type of physical guy that Jair is, he would be able to handle DK a little bit. But. You know, I I've said it all year that even though. He has been he has had some down moments
00:10:42
Speaker
Stokes has looked pretty good this year. He has been... I think somebody put out the stat that... Let's see if I can pull it up.
00:10:57
Speaker
the Let's see here. Can I get to it real quick?
00:11:10
Speaker
Eric Stokes.
00:11:16
Speaker
No, I can't find it, but he's, he's not, his stats haven't been as bad as what people think he has been. So, you know, while this may be his last year in the league, and not in the league, but on the Packers, you know, he may be back on a cheap deal or whatever, but He has been serviceable again this year and he definitely hasn't looked like him when he his rookie year But he was definitely better than his sophomore slump year So it'll be interesting to see how well he does with Jair back. Of course you had Nixon who I'm not sold on as an outside guy, but You know the stats really don't lie on him Uh
00:12:09
Speaker
Then, like I said, what's going to hurt is not having Bullard and Williams if they both can't go. I have a feeling Williams is going to be an up to game time type deal because with it being a late game, they give him a little, you know, it'll give him a little bit longer for the concussion protocol call.
00:12:31
Speaker
And Bullard, I really don't know. I know he left the game with the ankle. I don't know how severe it was. I didn't get a chance to listen to any of the press conferences. So, you know, if it's a, if it's just a sprain, maybe they give him up to game time. If it's anything more than, you know, he's definitely going to be out. So it's the next man. Uh, God, I hope it's not Zane Anderson. Maybe they'll give Catan Oladapo a chance.
00:13:01
Speaker
Or I don't even know, do they have safeties on the pat the practice squad? I know they've got like Kaitlyn King and Hayden, but those guys are corners. They do have a couple of safeties or at least one safety on the practice squad. Omar Brown rookie out in Nebraska. I don't know much of about him, but you know, maybe
00:13:33
Speaker
Uh, you know, give them a shot. Cause I'm really not interested in seeing Zane Anderson on the defensive side of things. I'm not really interested in seeing Zane Anderson at all, but it is what it is. And you got to hope that your corners, maybe this is another week that they call up Kaylin King and they run more corners out there than they do safeties. But.
00:14:03
Speaker
You know, like I said, I'm not a big fan of having Zane Anderson out there at all on defense, but you got to just next man up mentality and hope somebody can hold down that middle of the field because it got torched and it will continue to get torched if they can't stop it.

Team Comparisons

00:14:23
Speaker
So looking at team rankings, uh, Packers are In points scored, Packers are 7th, Seattle is 15th. Points allowed per a game, Packers are 9th, Seattle is 11th. The takeaway difference is going to be the major thing. The Packers are plus 9 and Seattle is minus 4. So if they can get pressure on Gino, if they can cause turnovers,
00:14:56
Speaker
then the Packers should have a fairly good game and it should be a victory. i mean just Like I said, if the pass rush can step up and be like it was against Miami and not like it was against Detroit, yeah it should be there there should be no question about who's its going to come out but with the victory. So make sure you're getting pressure. Make sure you're you're your're what's word your' creating opportunities and you're taking advantage of those opportunities for turnovers. Passing yards per game, Packers are 10th, Seattle's third, so they do love to pass the ball more. That could also be you know junk time.
00:15:47
Speaker
Passing yards also. Uh, I mean, pack they've only got one more loss than a Packers. So yeah. Uh, but Gino has been throwing a ton. He's got 3,474 passing yards. That's almost a thousand yards more or no, 1300 yards more than what Jordan love has.
00:16:17
Speaker
Uh, rushing yards per game is the big difference. The Packers are fifth and Seattle is 27. So if they can hold down the run, cause the turnovers, you know, cause Gino to make the mistakes. Again, it should not be that bad of a game for the Packers.
00:16:40
Speaker
the big difference. And you got to hope with Jair coming back, if he is back this week, Packers defense, you know, defensive passing yards game your twenty per or a loud per game. They game. They're 21st and Seattle is 10th. So that means Seattle has had a lot better chances with throwing the ball than they have running the ball So that doesn't bode well for the middle of the field You got to hope with Jair back get some healthy bodies in there, you know, it'll it'll change hopefully like I said when I'm bowled or Williams will be There and that will help out tremendously. Otherwise, it's gonna be a long day for that secondary But what will help?
00:17:32
Speaker
Packers defensive rushing large yards is allowed to game their ninth and Seattle's 21st, which bodes well for the Packers with the amount of rushing yards that they they are allowed they they have per game. So I expect a healthy dose of Josh Jacobs, a healthy dose of Emmanuel Wilson, Chris Brooks,
00:17:58
Speaker
I would even open it up and send Malik Willis out there for some RPOs, ah ah some misdirections, even a wildcat or two, you know, really pull out the play boat.

Critique of Zadaria Smith's Remarks

00:18:15
Speaker
Uh, I'm not going to really do over unders just because I will be, I would be doing them against myself.
00:18:25
Speaker
I do have a couple of s STF use of that. They're just kind of soft ones that I did bring up a little bit during the.
00:18:38
Speaker
The postgame show, and that was the Darius Smith. And.
00:18:54
Speaker
And I don't know if I brought it up. I can't remember the pat of the lions fan that got in the comfort confrontation. Uh, with Matt left floor free game. So I'm trying to pull up the quote here real quick.
00:19:24
Speaker
Smith Zadaria said two years ago, I gave it to them. And once I got hurt, they sent me down like I was nothing, but I'm glad to be on the other side. Now, you know, I had a chance to go to the Vikings, get my revenge. And I came to Detroit and got my revenge again.
00:19:42
Speaker
You got to give it up, man. It really sounds like you take the blame for ah for anything. It's all somebody else's fault. And you seem to do that with everybody. When you've had your back injury or you, yes, you did get injured. Yes, whatever. And, you know, again, I don't know how captains are completely.
00:20:13
Speaker
selected I thought it used to be that they had the players vote on it so it was something in the locker room who did that caused the players not to want to vote US captain if that's the way it still goes if it's not then you know it was complete coach's choice but You can't always get what you want and you're having sour grates over it. You're making it sound like the Packers did you dirty. The Packers brought you in, made you the focal point of the defense. Yes, you got hurt.
00:20:51
Speaker
multiple times you weren't there and, and because you got hurt, you can't always blame that on you, but you weren't there when the Packers absolutely needed you. You got pissed off because of the whole captain's thing. There was a drift. It was just easier to cut ties than not. And you still holding a grudge over it.
00:21:15
Speaker
You know, I would have to say probably most of the players on the Packers right now You weren't even there when you were there. So for you to continue to have that kind of Mindset is ridiculous and for you to take it out on some of the players like the hits that you were doing on Jordan love That was ridiculous. So please shut the fuck up The other one is the Packer fan who got into it with Matt the floor
00:21:45
Speaker
you were You were John, and you were getting too close to the the players. And you brought it onto yourself. And I'm glad they finally did something. It's kind of ridiculous that they waited until halftime to kick you out.
00:22:09
Speaker
home
00:22:13
Speaker
But I did see today that you had your season tickets reviewed. So, sucks to be you.

Game Strategies and Predictions

00:22:21
Speaker
Shut the fuck up next time.
00:22:25
Speaker
oh So, I've rambled on for as long as I can. Really, like I said, the keys to the game would be just a heavy dose of rushing attack.
00:22:40
Speaker
open up the playbook a little bit more. We did see them go for a flea flicker that didn't succeed very well. But let's see a little bit more of it. Let's see some stuff go.
00:22:53
Speaker
Full send on this stuff. We're in the later part of the season, yeah you know playoffs are going to be on the line pretty quick. I know there's this weird scenario that the Packers could clinched their playoff berth now, but it involves, I think the 49ers and the Rams tying. And I just don't see that happening. ah So, you know, but you're from here on out, you're playing for your playoff life. This next stretch is not going to be pretty for the Packers.
00:23:29
Speaker
Well, it might be it. Yeah, it's not going to be pretty. You got Seattle. Then you got New Orleans, Minnesota and Chicago. Minnesota and Chicago will not be great games. Uh, the one at minute against Minnesota will be at Minnesota. So that's going to be hostile territory. The game against to the bears is at home. So that should be a little bit better for you. But with it, rivalry games, they are going to be played tough. The saints is going to be a question mark because I know
00:24:02
Speaker
car is injured it or broke his his left, his non throwing hand. So who knows how long he'll be out. And, you know, that'll be something that we'll talk about.
00:24:16
Speaker
Next week, hopefully Mike is back for that one. But I want to thank everybody for tuning in. Thank you for putting up with me by myself. It's been a struggle to come up with how to do these shows by myself, just because I don't have the back and forth and can't do some of the things like the over unders and things like that, just because I don't have that person to bounce back with.
00:24:44
Speaker
I guess I could give a real quick couple just on my own um um I'm gonna go over under for Josh Jacobs for 75 and a half yards. I'm gonna take the over on it. I think I and Let's just call them predictions. That way they're not over-unders. I think, like I said, Josh Jacobs is going to have over 75 and a half yards.
00:25:09
Speaker
of I do think the defense is going to have over, I think the defense is going to get at least one interception. So I'm going to put a one up there for them. And I think they're going to get ah ah over, I think they're going to at least get a one and a half sacks.
00:25:26
Speaker
just because that seems to be the motif for the Seattle Seahawks right now. And, you know, I think I'm going to go over, uh, Josh Jacobs is going to have more than two and a half touchdowns also. So, you know, if anybody's keeping track, let me know. It would be great to see how Mike and I are doing on over under. So if you are keeping track somehow, let me, let us know. Send us a comment, send us an email, you know, send us message something.
00:26:00
Speaker
Let us know how we're doing on these over unders. and Maybe I'll make Mike sit down and listen to all the shows again and and do a tally of them or something. And we can add that to our our annual award show for best not prognosticator.
00:26:21
Speaker
But again, thank you for joining me. Thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for dealing with me. oh You know, ah ah check out all our great articles over at ohanapackers.org.

Uh, please go over and, you know, get your shirt, get your hat, get your tumbler, get your coffee mug stickers. We got it all over there. Please get out the word, help us help our podcast grow.
00:27:31
Speaker
Uh, hopefully I'll have to talk to Brian, but there may be a post game since it's a Sunday night game. So be sure to tune in for that. It'll be live on YouTube, which, and probably Instagram, uh, you know, come check it out.
00:27:57
