Deanne's Job Transition

00:00:07
Speaker
Well, hello and welcome to this week's episode of the Purple Door Podcast, a friend's rewatch pod. I am one of your hosts, Alistair, alongside the tremendous Deanne. Deanne, how are you today?
00:00:20
Speaker
I'm doing all right, Al. I'm doing yeah all right. I'm a little sad. I'm a little sad. Why are we sad? My seasonal job. came to an end last night.
00:00:32
Speaker
Right. I'm still a little sad about it today. I'm waiting to find out if have a seasonal job for Christmas or not. Right.
00:00:44
Speaker
But it won't be with the same awesome people doing the same exact thing. So it was a very bittersweet night. Lots of fun, but very...
00:00:55
Speaker
That's sad. The people are what truly make a workplace. A good workplace. It does. For real. And also, though, so then, you know, I got to look for the things that we're looking forward to and excited about.

Improv Excitement

00:01:08
Speaker
And this Saturday, Al, what are we doing?
00:01:11
Speaker
We are improving it up. Yes! Yeah, we are. In the last couple of days, well, just today, would you believe the world of improv has come up in two conversations I've had?
00:01:24
Speaker
You're kidding. So random. You jumped on for a second. My friend Derek and I went live on Instagram for my other podcast. Yes. He, and and I know him well, we've known each other for years, so but something... seems like a cool dude.
00:01:39
Speaker
He's got some stories. He's awesome. Just tremendous guy. And he's he's got a sort of bravado about him. Like when he talks, people and listen. he can He can work a crowd well.
00:01:52
Speaker
He's just got that personality, which I just thought was a natural gift, which is half true. But he also worked in comedy clubs in Manhattan for years. so So, and he spoke to the comics and and learned from them how to really grasp a crowd and take them on a journey and this, that, and the other, and uses that when he's doing talks about the outdoors.
00:02:13
Speaker
Okay. Okay. which I found super interesting. And then I just recorded another episode of my other podcast and the lady did a six-week stand-up course.
00:02:24
Speaker
And the whole point was, yes, it's stand-up. Yes, it's comedy. But we're going to help you make like pitches for your business and things like that through this skill set. Huh.

Business Pitching with Stand-Up

00:02:35
Speaker
And that's something very similar to what we have talked about with our previous wonderful guest, Mary Gallagher. Yes. Yes. Wow. Yes. So it's like the world of stand-up is just...
00:02:48
Speaker
Coming around me saying, come on in, the water's fine. I'm just saying, i my dad, my parents popped over, so I'm a little bit late coming to meet with you, and I apologize for that.
00:03:00
Speaker
But ah my parents popped over, and so we were talking, and I brought up, you know, I was crying about last night and showing them pictures because we took pictures, and now I can post them and all that.
00:03:13
Speaker
and um And so we were talking, and I was like, yeah, but this Saturday, I'm super

Family and Improv

00:03:19
Speaker
excited. Al and I, and maybe Joseph. And Joseph was like, no, I'm not going. And I was like, so I invited my dad, but he, yeah and so I was reading him the description of what all it is. And he's like, that seems like a lot.
00:03:34
Speaker
ah No, I'm okay. He's like, my confidence is fine. <unk> fine ah Okay. Well, there you go we We are going to have a blast.
00:03:46
Speaker
Yes, I'm pumped. I'm excited. i'm I'm excited about feeling a little uncomfortable and, yeah you know, and but it'll be fun. It'll be a good thing.
00:03:56
Speaker
Yeah, we will post some pictures. We'll wear our purple door shirts. We will just have a blast. Done. I'm in. I'm in. I can't wait. Me here for it. Yep.
00:04:07
Speaker
Well, let's see. What

Discussing 'Friends' Episode

00:04:09
Speaker
do we have going on? We are doing the one with the bullies today. yeah And I have a decent amount of questions, I think. i oh really I've got about 15 questions. Oh, my God.
00:04:20
Speaker
I only have eight. Yeah, I feel like I've got a lot. I will probably have some of yours. So I don't know how I ended up with so many, but yet I do. Wow. I was just out on a roll.
00:04:33
Speaker
I guess so. Okay. All right. I'm nervous. Okay. No, you've got to. I've got get my life together. right. think it's going be okay. It's on for next week. It's I'm just saying.
00:04:43
Speaker
All right. You're you're coming at me with like 37 questions. Yeah, that's right. And it's going to be obscure things. like I love it. What was the color of whoever's socks?
00:04:54
Speaker
And I don't even know. I do have a color question buried in here. I'm sure you do. am sure you do. But we're not going to start off with a color question. We're going to start off with a word question.
00:05:06
Speaker
When Chandler has his hat taken, shirt has one word on it. What's that word? It's America. It is indeed. America. America. That's it.
00:05:17
Speaker
Nice. All right. Well, then here's this one. Yes. In the opening scene, Rachel is drinking a drink. What is she drinking?
00:05:28
Speaker
See, you thought I'd be- And it is very product placement aware. Okay. it's It's in her hand, and her hand is covering up.
00:05:40
Speaker
like almost all the letters, but you if you see it you're like, I see it. All right. I did not see any of it, so i'm just going to guess a Diet Coke.
00:05:51
Speaker
Ooh, that's a great guess, but that would be Monica. No, Rachel has a Sprite. You know what? That was going be my second guess. It covering up the R-I-T-E. Nice.
00:06:02
Speaker
But like you can see, it's the green can and the SP. See, I was funny. I was going to guess Sprite there. I thought, well, that's a bright green. i might have noticed that. Diet Coke's a bit more silvery. I'll go with that.
00:06:14
Speaker
Yes. Should have stuck with my gut. um But we will stick on a similar kind of culinary adventure here. What kind of side dish does Monica say she would be expected to make at the fifties diner?
00:06:28
Speaker
Oh, a Laverne and Curly Fries. It would be indeed, which is a great name. a great name. Yes. Okay. be or No, not really speaking of, but what's Phoebe's dad's dog's name?
00:06:45
Speaker
Oh, that's a good one. The family. Yeah, the yappy dog. um The one that's hanging out, that has the trampoline. He's got trampoline. I do love that line.
00:06:58
Speaker
I did not... I didn't catch his name. I'm 0 for 2. I do not know. Noodle. Noodle. It's a good name. It's a good name. a great name for a dog.
00:07:10
Speaker
one of my favorite names for a dog of all time also came from friends. And when later on when Chandler is scared of dogs, they're looking after clunkers, which i just makes me smile. Mr. Clunkers.
00:07:23
Speaker
I just, something great about clunkers, which i just I just love. But that that's a good one too. All right, I've got some catching up to do. Let's see if you get this one. I feel like you will.
00:07:33
Speaker
How much money does Monica say she has in her bank account? $127. She does it. You are three for three. Yes. yeah Look at you go. All right.
00:07:45
Speaker
What kind of sandwich does Joey bring with him in the cab? God damn it. i i was I wrote the question. Sorry, excuse me. What happened was i've watched the episode.
00:07:59
Speaker
What happened was, and then I wrote down some notes. And I was like, it's something in olive loaf, but no mayo because that would be disgusting. I bet Deanne's going to ask me that. I should go back and look what the something and olive loaf is because I don't even know what olive loaf is.
00:08:14
Speaker
And it was something kind of odd. Oh, it's so gross looking. Right. I have no idea. And I had this whole monologue in my head. and Did I go back? No, I did not. And I knew would And you wish you would have? More than you possibly know.
00:08:27
Speaker
This is all about following your gut at this point, Al. Come on, man. It's olive loaf and ham spread, but no mayo, because that's disgusting. That would ruin it. God bless it. I knew you would ask me that well.
00:08:44
Speaker
Lesson learned. All right. ah How many points did Monica see her stock could go up in the newspaper before she decided to invest?
00:08:56
Speaker
Oh. She said it's gone up something.

Monica's Financial Woes

00:09:02
Speaker
Was it three points? Oh, it's two points. Dang it! Okay, this is a good thing then, because I thought two, and then I was like, I don't think that was... Because I was working math out in my head whenever she was saying it And so, oh man, okay.
00:09:19
Speaker
See, and two points, we'll get into this maybe, if we care enough. I thought that maybe be meant 2%, but apparently actually means $2 if it goes up two points. So I was like, ah I don't know, I wonder how much is one share of...
00:09:33
Speaker
that company it like is that really that much i don't know yeah it depends but if you put all 127 in there and it goes up at two i mean yeah it could be more than you're making profit yeah all right
00:09:51
Speaker
It is your question. Yes. Okay. Yeah. I am speeding through these. Okay. I'm sorry. your What is Ross playing with on the bully before they pull the couch back?
00:10:04
Speaker
Playing with.
00:10:08
Speaker
Oh. On the couch? I was like, what? And then I had to look at what my answer was. So they're sitting on the couch. Yeah. And then Ross starts playing with something. and And Chandler's like,
00:10:21
Speaker
Don't play with that.
00:10:24
Speaker
I can picture the scene and. And then they pull the couch back. and Yeah. Let it go. Oh, it says out the ah the, I don't know what it's called, but the Western Thai thing.
00:10:38
Speaker
bully, what's it called? A bolo tie. A bolo tie. there Okay. So let me tell you how that conversation went at my house. So we were watching it and I was like, What?
00:10:48
Speaker
what And I was looking down typing and then I was like, what was he playing with? So I went back and I watched it and then I was like, oh, because he's just kind of flicking it back and forth because that guy's leaning over, you know?
00:11:01
Speaker
And then I was like, don't play with that. um ah But I was like, Joseph, what do you call that thing? What do you call that thing? My brother has one. And so he's like, don't know.
00:11:13
Speaker
every time my brother wears it, I make fun of him. But it's a bolo tie. bolo tie. so I almost called him to find out and then the word popped in my brain. but But it's funny. And that's exactly how I described it was, you know, that weird Western thing that my brother wears sometimes whenever he thinks.
00:11:31
Speaker
I'm not sure what he thinks. So I don't see your brother often, but next time I see him, can I just randomly say, hey, where's your bolo in conversation? Okay. You should. You should. And just see what happens.
00:11:42
Speaker
I like it. That will be done. Yeah. Or... ah perhaps he'll listen to this and then the next time that y'all see each other, he will be wearing it. Yes. So that would be great.
00:11:53
Speaker
I like it. I like it. Well, I thought you were going to ask my next question because it's worded very similarly. Okay. When Ross and Chandler are sitting in the coffee house and the bullies come back in, Ross is reading a magazine.
00:12:07
Speaker
What's it about?
00:12:11
Speaker
Think of the most obvious answer you... use Dinosaurs. Dinosaurs it is. He is reading a dinosaur magazine. Oh, how funny. Yeah. Like, huh, weird.
00:12:23
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. How many stitches did Noodle get?
00:12:28
Speaker
My gut says nine. it's so close. It's me. Oh, yikes. Dang. All right, it's been a close one. yeah um I like this question a lot. I had to Google it to make sure it was right.
00:12:42
Speaker
What, what, I'm trying to think how to phrase it because I phrased it one way and it's not right. There is a connection between Chandler and Gunther's attire in this episode.
00:12:55
Speaker
What is it? And that's not warranted very well, but I can't think how best to do it.
00:13:03
Speaker
Are they both wearing white shirts? They are not. Did you notice something fun that Gunther was wearing? No. He was wearing a tie with a very prominent cat in the hat on it.
00:13:16
Speaker
And Chandler, the hat that got stolen, had the Grinch on it. Two Dr. Seuss characters. Okay, I could not figure out for the life of me what that was the hat.
00:13:28
Speaker
Yeah, and I I could not figure it out. What a weird thing to be on a navy blue hat. Weird thing, and I thought it maybe was, so I Googled it, and sure enough, that's what the general consensus was. Dr. Seuss and the Grinch.
00:13:42
Speaker
Not Dr. Seuss. The Cat in the Hat and the Grinch. Huh. Well, there you go. Dr. Seuss. Yeah, there you go. I wonder when. okay Oh, it's my question. It's on done to you. Sorry.
00:13:54
Speaker
You're fine. All right. So what kind of diner does Monica end up getting a job at?

Work Experiences

00:13:58
Speaker
It's a 50s nostalgia diner. Yeah, I'm excited to talk about that later. Yes, yes, I'm looking forward to that one. the Speaking of Monica, she says three phrases regarding the stock market. we She says one, and then Joey says she said two.
00:14:16
Speaker
Do you know what they are? Uh-huh, uh-huh. Yeah, you do. ah Time is money. Yep. It takes money to make money. Yep. And then don't make me come down there and kick your Wall Street booty.
00:14:29
Speaker
That's right. but We'll go with that. Yes. yeah i See, I'll keep it PG. I did not. I lost my cool for a minute. i did You did. You did. I got rattled there. Bamboozled nothing to be toyed with. No, we don't play around in Bamboozled. I'll need to put like an e-warning on this episode when we release it. Sorry, kids.
00:14:48
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, it's terrible. I see, but I mean, even ah yours, it it wouldn't even get the E. It wouldn't even up the rating.
00:14:59
Speaker
All right. So, wait. Is it my turn? Let's see, so it's your turn. Okay. What song at the end do they dance to?
00:15:12
Speaker
Do the the staff at the diner dance to? The YMCA. Very good. I got a whole little thing about YMCA that I did not know about too.
00:15:24
Speaker
So apparently am really excited about these next few episodes while, or not, I mean, quite a few episodes where Monica's working at that diner.
00:15:36
Speaker
I love that diner. Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty cool. And I like, we spend a little time there. Yes. Um, Let's see. if Yeah, all right. it's on... Yeah, I'm asking you, right? Sorry, I've lost track. yep how much moneyy How much money did Monica say she made before breakfast?
00:16:00
Speaker
Was it $14? Oh, no! It wasn't. Because I told Joseph it was more than I make at my seasonal job. So was it $20? $18?
00:16:12
Speaker
was it twenty bucks eighteen but Oh, yeah, so close. Oh, man. $17. Dang it! Yeah.
00:16:24
Speaker
Yeah. Wow. Okay. Here is my last question. How sad. What did the bullies do for a living? All right.
00:16:35
Speaker
So one of them, I assume, is a real estate agent. Okay. Because he said something like, got show an apartment. Yes. The other one, I don't know.
00:16:46
Speaker
Okay. So I just assumed that they both were real estate agents because they seemed to know a lot about each, you know, I don't know. Their relationship seemed like they...
00:17:02
Speaker
work together o and and whenever they were looking at something and then he's like oh i wonder if you have to work at century 21 to get yes cool jackets and i just assumed that they were talking about the bullies that's a good point yeah that is a that connection there Interesting. I like it.
00:17:29
Speaker
Okay. We know how much money Monica made. How much did Joey save by having breakfast there
00:17:38
Speaker
there? $3.50? $3.50. you imagine paying $3.50 for breakfast? Well done. Yeah. Yeah. That would be awesome if breakfast only cost $3.50. In Manhattan as well. That would be Yeah.
00:17:53
Speaker
All right. I've got, yeah, I've got, I think, five five more for you. I'm here for it. Why did Monica buy stock in CHP? ah Because she had a crush on Eric Estrada.
00:18:06
Speaker
No. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes, she did. Yes. Nicely done. did you know that one of the bullies was on Chips? So I didn't until I saw it when I went on IMDb to have a look about Chandler's hat.
00:18:23
Speaker
Okay. See, I didn't see the thing. Okay. All right. Yeah. All right. When Chandler and Ross make their own coffee, you know and they're furiously starting.
00:18:34
Speaker
The cappuccinos with a K. Which I love. I love cappuccino with a K. What sports team is on the mug Chandler is drinking? I know. Buffalo Bills. No.
00:18:44
Speaker
Yes, it is. I don't believe it is. Let's have a look. Then is it, are you going to try to tell me it's the Giants? I am.
00:18:54
Speaker
Okay, because i wrote or I typed in Giants, and then I decided that it didn't say Giants, that it says Bills, that it's the Bible Bills. Look it up.
00:19:05
Speaker
i'm ah i'm I'm seeing if I can find... did did that do it no that's not it. Oh, here it is. ah Can I zoom in enough? All right.
00:19:18
Speaker
This might bleed through on the audio. I've turned it down now.
00:19:23
Speaker
It's not a very clear picture.
00:19:27
Speaker
But I got some bad news, Wolves, and that that is a giant No! Dang it! They're the same colors. They're both blue and red. Yeah, they definitely are.
00:19:38
Speaker
Yeah. man Man. Okay. It could easily have been a Bill's mug. Yeah. And see, and I thought... Dang. Okay. All right. That's okay, though, because you're to get this next one.
00:19:50
Speaker
I know you will. I hope so. Where is Joey going before he goes to Central Park to help Ross and Chandler out? Oh, to his niece's a christening. Indeed he is.
00:20:01
Speaker
um

Phoebe's Family Discovery

00:20:03
Speaker
We meet Frank. I'm going to quick fire these last two. We meet Frank in this episode, episode Phoebe's half-brother. He has a friend named what?
00:20:12
Speaker
Say that one more time. yeah Oh, Mark. Yes, Mark. Well done. And last but not least, it always feels unfair. When Ross and Chandler are in the coffee house and they're drinking super quickly, yeah what color are their mugs?
00:20:26
Speaker
Hold on, hold on. ah there I want to say yellow and green, but hang on. You have 50 for your half of it. Okay, it's blue. No.
00:20:37
Speaker
ah Hang on. oil Green and blue. Green and blue it is. Green and blue. Nicely done. Nicely done. Okay.
00:20:48
Speaker
Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. See, I even wrote down blue coffee mug, Buffalo bills. ran it But it wasn't. It wasn't. I had written down giants and then I erased it. And I like, if I use my little time thing.
00:21:05
Speaker
but I love the confidence. Should have been, should have been the bills. It should have been. Well, let's see. We get stuck in. We start off in the girls' apartment. They're watching the business channel because Monica is invested in our initials, which is, i believe, M-E-G?
00:21:23
Speaker
Yes. Yes. What does the E stand for? Do we remember? I thought it was Elaine. I've forgotten, to be honest. Yes. And then Phoebe goes on a very Phoebe-esque journey.
00:21:35
Speaker
long winded thing about all the signs to see her dad. I think it's to Frank's hot dog, a buffet. There's a spinning chicken in there somewhere. I don't quite remember what her whole spiel is, but she's, she needs to go and see her dad.
00:21:51
Speaker
She has decided. Yes, because, okay. Whenever he's like, um, EI EIO, or that's what, uh,
00:22:02
Speaker
Oh, it's cut out. I just pulled up the thing. Right. it' its Hamburger, McDonald's, Old McDonald, how to farm. My dad is a pharmacist. Yes. And then there's a joke that got cut out where Chandler goes, and E-I-E-I-O is what your mom said when your dad left her.
00:22:20
Speaker
And she goes, and and it the timing of it is so funny because she goes, yes. he goes, really? ah she goes, no. and then that's the end. But it's so funny. Like that one, it made Joseph laugh out loud. and I love it.
00:22:37
Speaker
yeah yeah it's such a such a phoebe thing to see all these cosmic signs and i love it i love it why don't you talk me through this next scene we're in central park i do love ross and chandler deciding not to play a racquetball what happened what happens after this Um, and then they sit down and then the bullies come in and they're like, or come over because they were already in there. I guess they were at the counter and they're like, ah you're in our seats and they're kind of going back and forth.
00:23:12
Speaker
And, um, the little guys like, you know, um, oh, you're supposed to be funny. And Chandler's like, no, um, actually I was just going for colorful,
00:23:24
Speaker
And they are not entertained by Chandler being funny at all, which is so sad, right? Because I think he's hilarious, but yeah then that's whenever he reaches over and he takes the hat and he's ah like, what just happened?
00:23:41
Speaker
Which is so funny, you know? um And then they go back and forth some more. And um Ross is such an idiot. Tell me why.
00:23:54
Speaker
Well, because he's like, yeah you know, um he's like, okay, you give him the hat back. And he's like, well, why should we? And so then Ross goes into that whole big long spiel.
00:24:06
Speaker
About, you know, well, he bought it because he was feeling really down. And I'm like, oh my gosh. And the channeler's like, could you just stop? And, you know, I

Humor in Cappuccino Making

00:24:17
Speaker
don't know. Because it was obvious at that point that these are not people that you can just reason with.
00:24:24
Speaker
Right. ah As an adult, have you ever been in a situation where somebody's just being... a jerk like that
00:24:36
Speaker
in my younger days i worked in a bar so you encountered that it's a it's a little different you know that kind of situation because you kind of expect it um yeah i must have outside of that where where again it's kind of you go into it knowing people are going to get get silly um
00:24:58
Speaker
But like... yeah There must be. There must have been a time. For some reason, I just can't think of it. Yeah. Yeah. i don't I don't... I don't feel like this is... nor I mean, obviously not normal behavior, but I feel like this is very out out there.
00:25:16
Speaker
because I felt like it was a stretch for a storyline myself. Like it was just... These guys came out of nowhere and act like idiots... Yeah. like For no reason. And yeah, it was very odd to me.
00:25:31
Speaker
Yeah. ah Very, very, very, very strange. Yeah. So, yeah. And so then they just come to the realization that they stole the hat.
00:25:43
Speaker
right and that's that was the end of that scene yeah and you know i just and to find out that they're in real estate at least one probably both are in real estate that's all about customer relations and getting your name out there like it's just very odd very ah odd to and then you know that one of them Is trying to start a family, so he's obviously married and, you know, like, like what is this? What is this? Who goes around?
00:26:13
Speaker
Who does that? Yeah, and then bitches, yeah. And that it it happens for multiple days is just bizarre. Yeah, it's a very odd, odd story, like...
00:26:25
Speaker
um Yeah, that's at the first of several encounters that we have there. But we go back to the girls' apartment. Monica comes back in from an interview.
00:26:36
Speaker
Oh, what miss? There's another. Well, because it's cut of doors. Right. So it whenever it comes over to the girls' apartment, Joey and Rachel are sitting there and they're talking.
00:26:49
Speaker
And Joey is telling Rachel about how he's done this with Phoebe

China and Tea Cups

00:26:55
Speaker
before. She needs a lot of support. or He calls it like dad hunting or father hunting or something like that.
00:27:03
Speaker
Right. And that it's a very traumatic, very hard for Phoebe. And so we've got to go and be supportive and crap is what he said. And then she goes, okay, well, you just let me know when it's time to do which.
00:27:17
Speaker
And it's a very funny, not Rachel-y line at all. Right. But when you just let me know when to do which because he said supportive and crap.
00:27:28
Speaker
it' Right. All right. So this is clearly one that I need to watch the DVD. Yes. Then Monica comes in. Right. And they're right sitting there and they're all like, hey, about that. Yes. And she's not and not happy about this situation because it's ah a 50s diner which we will come to love.
00:27:47
Speaker
And how did she not know that that's what she was going on an interview for? Right. You know, like in the ad, in the newspaper, it would say something along the lines of that you got to be able to perform or absolutely something, you know? Yeah, this is not a fine dining place. Yeah.
00:28:08
Speaker
there's not a fe dining place um Yeah, without a doubt. She must have known, but she knows she probably has to take it because she has $127 her name and times are getting tough.
00:28:21
Speaker
and times are getting tough
00:28:25
Speaker
Let's see, Ross and Chandler come in and they tellbo tell the guy, yeah, Ross is alive. And they both do it, though. They both, they're both in all their negative feelings at this point. They got picked on and bullied. Yeah.
00:28:43
Speaker
Which just, it's such a weird one. It really is. um and is it at this point, Monica picks up the paper and she sees that her stock has gone up two points. And she's like, yeah, I'm going to invest in myself.
00:28:56
Speaker
um Now, I must say, we're goingnna if you don't mind jumping to the next scene, I was thinking about asking you what the number on the side of Phoebe's taxi is.
00:29:07
Speaker
Oh. But I couldn't remember if we'd done that or not. and just We have done that. We did that the last time that she went hunting for her dad. I thought we did.
00:29:18
Speaker
And then i was I got thinking, I wonder if it... um I wonder if it was the same. It's three h or one But I don't remember you know don't remember what it was previously. I don't know. I'm sure it is.

Conflict Resolution Story

00:29:32
Speaker
And then my note below that, Joey Sandwich, olive loaf, something, no mayo. This is going to live with me for a little bit. Excellent. excellent Yeah, I do love that Joey brought the pillows, you know, from the back of the cab. Yes.
00:29:49
Speaker
Yes, no seat there. Because he's done this all before. Yeah, he knows what's going on. done this. He knows. Yeah. Yeah, I love it. um And this is where they encounter the dog. What was the dog's name again?
00:30:00
Speaker
noodle noodle good name yeah noodle and his trampoline I love that line so much I don't know why take away his trampoline yeah um well and then okay and then the line where she's like for the first time in my life I'm gonna say hi birth father like anybody would ever say that but it's so funny yes it's great It is. it ah It was an interesting situation. I meant to look to see... i assume it's the same house in both scenes, from the one where the dog is there to the... um when we see more of the house later on. Yeah.
00:30:39
Speaker
But ah yeah, as we've talked about before, Kate and I did a tour of the set. And it does look very like the houses on the set, but I don't know which one it was. You know, we saw a range of houses. We probably saw that one on the tour, but I don't know, to be honest.
00:30:56
Speaker
um We end up back in Central Park. Ross and Chandler are talking, and this is where the bullies come back in. Ross, I'm sure you will use use the word weenie here as he tells on them to Gunther.
00:31:10
Speaker
I had a feeling you might have some thoughts on that.
00:31:15
Speaker
Yeah. ah But, but in, and I had, very lightly say, and Ross's defense, but like, what is he going Like, I, I, I think that's what I was kind of trying to work out in my head. Like, what would you do in that situation?
00:31:39
Speaker
What would you do? Right. Yeah. and And it's, but it made me laugh whenever Chandler's like, you know, um we played that card too early. Yes. The Gunther card. Yes. Yes. We played the the Gunther card too early um because, you know, it's just so weird because I don't know that it's just so weenie. Yeah.
00:32:07
Speaker
It is. It is. And the thing is, is it's like I don't even โ€“ in that situation, i don't even think that it's necessary to be confrontational. Right.
00:32:18
Speaker
But I feel like they could have handled it in such a way like, are you being for real? Yeah. We're doing this. Like, ah like is this is this really โ€“ Are we 12?
00:32:35
Speaker
Like, I don't know. it's It's so bizarre. It really is. i can't I can't get my head quite around this storyline or situation. They do challenge Ross and Chandler to a fight outside.
00:32:49
Speaker
Yes. So, but of course, they they initially decline that offer, I think is kind of how it goes. They're like, we're not going to do that. um But Phoebe and... Am I right? Yes. Phoebe, Rachel and Joey are in the cab and Phoebe's still sitting outside. um And it's gotten dark.
00:33:09
Speaker
She's... a She's not ready to go in and um and see her dad again. And Joey especially. i think both of them, but Joey is supportive of this. So they decide to leave.
00:33:21
Speaker
And this is where Noodles gets involved in a little scrape under the tire of Grandma's cab. um I'm intrigued. We find that the injury involves stitches and then the ear won't grow back.
00:33:37
Speaker
What happened to the ear if they get it gets hit by a car? like How can you really injure an ear that way? I don't know where Okay. I spent some time thinking through this.
00:33:49
Speaker
Okay. Because if you have to think about are the logistics of what really happened here? Because what? what and like How did the ear?
00:34:05
Speaker
So then I wondered if it the ear didn't get ran over if it wasn't just like the ear and then right through his body because it looked like there was some you know on his back too right and so i don't know but like it it seems like the ear would have had to have been run over yeah must it must have i mean if it hadn't how would it end up being a bit of it A bit of it chopped off, you know, somehow.
00:34:37
Speaker
Right. Yeah. so so Something happened. Once in a full blue moon, an ear will grow back. It'll grow back. Well, you never know. you never know.
00:34:49
Speaker
Well, Monica's fortunes are looking a little better than noodles. She's bought some bought some shares in a couple of companies. um She's made $17. Joey has saved $3.50. I do love this phone call from Joey to Phoebe's dad ends up being, I guess, stepmom.
00:35:09
Speaker
Mrs. Buffet. I admit it. Why the boys? I couldn't tell you. Hard to tell. Yeah, whatever it is. It reminds me of the hombre guy that we've had we've already seen. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's just so good. It's so good.

Monica's Job Struggles

00:35:27
Speaker
um Why he uses a fake, I could see in a panicking moment doing that. I mean, it's so odd, but it's so funny. Yeah, it is But he's not...
00:35:40
Speaker
panicked i don't think like i don't know that joey really panics i don't think that's a character trait that he has no i i would agree um we do get now to possibly my favorite scene where ross and chandler are making their own coffee cappuccino with a k now but this drives does right they know how to make coffee they are two grown men they can make a cup of coffee at home they they have breakfast at home they there's no way they don't know Right. but
00:36:12
Speaker
But so be it. Okay. But. But. Uh-oh. you defending Ross again? no I'm defending Chandler. Okay. Good. Thank you. Okay.
00:36:24
Speaker
um But a cappuccino is quite different than coffee. That's a fair point. And I make my coffee every single morning.
00:36:35
Speaker
But if I have the chance to get a cappuccino while I'm out, I'm on it. I'm here for it, and I will pay stupid amount of money for a cappuccino.
00:36:46
Speaker
thats That's a very good point. I drink black coffee at home exclusively. It's all I drink, just no milk, no sugar, no nothing. if like Yeah, but if I go out, depending, and may get a black coffee, but I do like a cappuccino. I do like a mocha. Mocha's like a special treat.
00:37:03
Speaker
But I wouldn't attempt any that at home. See, is yeah. See, no, no, no, no. So like a cappuccino with a cake, guys, just have a coffee with some good creamer.
00:37:17
Speaker
You'd be all right. I think so. but But the cappuccino, like you got to have, I don't know. i think There's cappuccino machines, so I feel like it's a whole thing.
00:37:29
Speaker
It's a thing. And it's never going to be quite the same as the coffee shop down the street with the $7,000 cappuccino machine. Right. It's just not going to be. its It's just like a grilled cheese. I can make a grilled cheese, but it will never taste as good as a grilled cheese that was made for me.
00:37:47
Speaker
Indeed. oh yeah You bring some good points. i'm the The logic here. Yeah, I do see it. I do have a question for you, and this may be a first for this podcast that may you you may refuse to answer.
00:37:59
Speaker
Uh-oh. Have you ever been in a physical fight?
00:38:05
Speaker
And you don't have to answer if you don't want. I was just thinking about it
00:38:10
Speaker
Not, I fighting with siblings. My conversation would go much as Ross's. Well, yeah. But then, ah but not so much with my brother, right? Because he's 10 years younger than me.
00:38:26
Speaker
But like, whenever I was younger, like my cousin and I were we about six weeks apart. Right. You know, and and we grew up together. Like my mom babysat us whenever we were little. Yeah.
00:38:40
Speaker
And yeah, so I don't know that that really counts. I've slapped some people across the face. Good for you. um ah But other than that, nah.
00:38:51
Speaker
Nah. Okay, just... Have you? Not really. Like, I've got caught up in them. Like said, I worked in a bar, so broke up some fights. You know, kind of thing. And then you get the odds from it. None of it was directed at me.
00:39:05
Speaker
And getting beat by students doesn't really count. No, that we could have a whole couple of episodes on that. Yeah, that doesn't count because you don't fight back. pretty good at talking my way out of situations, I think.
00:39:21
Speaker
Okay, that's fair. When I was like 17, I was, it sounds dramatic and maybe it is, but it doesn't, it didn't feel, I was held at knife point. I was robbed at knife point.
00:39:32
Speaker
That is dramatic. Are you kidding? Yeah. Maybe. Oh my God. And I sort of talked my way out of it. I mean, it was, they just wanted my wallet to like, it was just one of those things.
00:39:45
Speaker
So did you get them your wallet? So what I did was i I did, there was really nothing in it. I was 17. So it's not like I had, you know, a couple of American Expresses in there or something. that was But I sort talked to them as I was slowly getting out my pocket. And I explained, I'm going to throw it really far and you can have it. I'm not going to hand it to you because you're too close with a knife.
00:40:09
Speaker
So are you good if I just chuck it and I'm going to walk the other direction? ah Just to try and get them to talk and get some information. like Because I knew I was going to up calling the police. Right. So they and they said, yeah, you throw over there and walk that way.
00:40:22
Speaker
Fine. I live that way. And so did that, called the police, and who knows what happened. They didn't tell you? No, they came and took a statement and off they went. And that was that.
00:40:36
Speaker
Yeah. Who knows? Yeah, wish I'd found out. I don't like that at all. Yeah, punks. There you go. they didn't They didn't steal my comic book that I'd written, you know, about Science Boy. Science Boy in the backpack.
00:40:52
Speaker
yeah That's right. oh I'm looking forward to that.
00:40:58
Speaker
Well, Monica is in a frenzy. She's in a โ€“ well, we didn't really finish it. Yeah, Joey is going to come and defend Ross and Chandler. And then Ross is kind of like, no. After the christening, of course. After the christening. goes to the christening. But Joey's like, yeah Ross, no, we're going to stand up for ourselves. it's like a rite of passage.
00:41:15
Speaker
Maybe you need to get beaten up. um But Monica is in a panic. She has lost $127. has all gone down the drain. Asked Rachel for $100, but she cannot do it.
00:41:28
Speaker
And Monica is going to have to take the job at the diner. Yes, she is. It's it's very sad. Have we talked about this before? i don't know. have you You worked in a bar.
00:41:41
Speaker
What was your job in the bar? ah Like a bartender. Just pulling pints behind the bar. Okay. yeah Have you ever worked in a restaurant? No. No.
00:41:53
Speaker
I always tried to avoid that. i felt it it It felt very intimidating to me. Yeah. um It was like being a cashier in a really busy store.
00:42:05
Speaker
I'm sure it's fine and people do it, but I think I'd find that, especially we're old enough to work, you know, a lot more people pay with card now, but

Diner Dance Scene Discussion

00:42:13
Speaker
counting change and like the, I think I would have felt a lot of pressure in my younger days, serving food and stuff.
00:42:21
Speaker
Now the bar I worked in, they served lunch and, We had to cook, but, you know, I'd be in charge of taking the food out. But that that's different. You know, that's not nearly as, you know, like working in a restaurant. Have you worked in a โ€“ you did, didn't you? you've I did for one summer, and I was awful.
00:42:39
Speaker
i was terrible at it. I was terrible at it, and I got to work as bartender for one night. Right. oh Well, I say that. I also got hired another time to work as a bartender at, like, a private party at a house.
00:42:54
Speaker
Right. and um And that was fun. That was fancy. Yeah, like, I i'm really enjoyed it. I just did it for a year or so, but I really enjoyed it. Like, I met some good people.
00:43:06
Speaker
Yeah. No. No. So, the... No. No. so the no no Not for you. No, no, no.
00:43:16
Speaker
Because, yeah, if I could just hang out and talk to people and that was it, great. yeah But, like, then you have hungry people and then you forget so like, parts of that job. I would struggle in a restaurant. It's not my skill set at all. I just... No.
00:43:36
Speaker
No. No. My cousin Amanda, I mean, like our teen years and then like through college and everything, she worked... As a waitress and then ah I think she managed too.
00:43:48
Speaker
Right. But at a restaurant called O'Charlie's, which is a whole like chain, but not here in Texas, but over in Tennessee and all right through there. I can't remember what their sister store here is.
00:44:03
Speaker
um But she worked there for years. And like, it was her jam. She, and she knew everybody in that town. Right. Everybody. You could not go somewhere that um Amanda did not know somebody.
00:44:18
Speaker
Um, ah but, uh, I don't know. Like my brain does not, it, it can't, can't do all that. Yeah, it does take a certain kind of person to be a good waiter, waitress, working in the service industry. So our hats off to them, those who are able to do it and do it well.
00:44:37
Speaker
um Phoebe ends up giving the dog back to, I forget her name. I was going to write it down, but I guess who's kind of Phoebe's. Mrs. Buffet. Is it just Mrs. Buffet?
00:44:49
Speaker
um She calls for Frank. Phoebe thinks this is going to be your dad, but ends up being Frank Jr., um i do I do enjoy Frank. Yes. And this is his first time as Frank Jr. Yes. Even though we have seen him before.
00:45:06
Speaker
have. Tell us. Tell us. ah It was whenever Phoebe was playing and he had thrown the condom into yeah her tip jar. And then he came back for it. And even that scene, which is 10 seconds, I love the the panicked way he ran away find, was it Justine or Christine or whatever the lady's name was? We don't see her. All I know is it wasn't Alice.
00:45:29
Speaker
It was not Alice. Not Alice. Not at all. But he takes off like he is on fire around the corner from Central Park, which I just love. But it's good. We get to see Frank, and he gives Phoebe a little bit of information on his dad, their dad.
00:45:47
Speaker
And Deanne, where was he always happiest? On his stilts? Wouldn't we all be? No! No, No.
00:45:58
Speaker
Okay. Have you ever walked on stilts? No, I can, ah in my time, I've done a couple of ah circusy things. We may have discussed that before, but still, I don't like heights at all.
00:46:12
Speaker
Yeah. um So I think it would be, even if I ah figured out the skill set to do it physically, mentally, I would end up face planting on the ground. ah Yeah. I don't know how people are able to do it And it's it's so crazy to me.
00:46:30
Speaker
Last year um at my seasonal job, there were people on stilts. And I would just watch them ah walk around and like go inside of buildings. and yeah And I'm just like, I'm not sure enough on my own two feet.
00:46:48
Speaker
ye And then you put me in high heels and it's just a train wreck. See. So. I was going to bring that up without revealing too much. i no no no had no I've never worn high heels in my life. saying i mean, just haven't.
00:47:06
Speaker
But I see women wearing them and I look at them and like, how do you do that? Like, even if it's just, you an inch or two, that that would throw off, i so I swear would throw off my whole sense of balance.
00:47:17
Speaker
ah You know, it just wouldn't be good. See, now I can do wedges. i can wear some wedges. Right. But like, yeah no, no.
00:47:28
Speaker
yeah People are talented. Shout out to all the stilt walkers out there. The stilt walking restaurateurs and waitresses and waiters. yeah All of them. All of them. we We admire you.
00:47:39
Speaker
What about stilt walking waiters and waitresses? One thing. That's where money is. want to be waited on by somebody on stilts. Yes. think Wherever that is, that's where we should go.
00:47:51
Speaker
Let us know. We'll take the podcast on the road. Yes. I'm in. He sent tippers. I'm in. We're good. We got this. Yeah. Yeah, we'll give you a shout out. I'm in. I'm in.
00:48:02
Speaker
um But we do we do find out that while he was happiest on the stilts, he maybe wasn't the most talented because he does whack his head off the gutter, which Frank goes to show Phoebe.
00:48:15
Speaker
Okay, I got a question. How often do you clean your brain gutters or your your your gutters? Well, the answer would be never because we don't have any. Now...
00:48:26
Speaker
You will go and shock and gasp. We've had a couple of companies come out. um if you The way our house is, all the water would just pour off the front and the back.
00:48:37
Speaker
And we have a patio on the front and the back. So it just hits the patio and kind of rolls off. Nice. the gutters would stop. The water pour, you know, if we go out our front door where the roof pitches out, it comes down there.
00:48:53
Speaker
But from like a foundational point of view, we don't really need it. That's awesome. Because at the sides of the house where it's grass, that's where the roof is is pitched and no water comes off there anyway.
00:49:07
Speaker
um Maybe one day we'll get them. Our neighbors did it themselves and like it's not too hard to do. Yeah. So we'll see. How about you? Do you have to clean yours out often? Yeah. Sir, sorry I am the lone female in my house.
00:49:22
Speaker
Sorry, that's true. I do clean the gutters. Good for you. Come on now. no. Good for you. No, no, no. That's a Mr. Woolison job up there on the ladder. Any of the Mr. Woolisons. Any or all. That's their Good for you for pulling rank, yeah as you should. Yes.
00:49:40
Speaker
Well, Joey and Chandler are about to to burn their mouths off by drinking their coffee very quickly in Central Park. um It reminded me of an Instagram reel I just saw the other day, and I never know if this stuff is true, but it made me think anyway.
00:49:54
Speaker
They said that China, the teacups don't have handles. Because the reason that people have handles on the teacups is so they can you drink it even when the cup is too hot.
00:50:06
Speaker
um But really, tea is to be savored and to be enjoyed, and if it's not ready, if the cup is too hot, you don't drink it yet. And it was made to be almost like a metaphor for life.
00:50:18
Speaker
And i don't know if it's true or not. Maybe all the teacups in China have handles. But this one claimed they did not, and it's deliberate. And so it's just to patient. I love that.
00:50:30
Speaker
No matter if it's true or false. Great, great. But I got a question. Yes. Okay, so I have... And and this might be stupid.
00:50:41
Speaker
So... We're going to go ahead and prepare for it to be just totally... You can explain to me. ah educate Educator hat on. Educate me. There's there's no no stupid questions.
00:50:54
Speaker
Okay. Why is China called China? Talking about like my grandmother's China set. I assume
00:51:05
Speaker
that
00:51:09
Speaker
The country China, the people in China won't call it China. That'll be the English name, I'm sure. Like Japan, in in Japan, the Japanese call Nippon.
00:51:21
Speaker
It's not Japan. So my assumption is porcelains and that kind of stuff came from what we know as China. So it was known as China. And this is a guess. This is not, yeah you know. Yeah, no, this is, ah that's what I'm saying.
00:51:36
Speaker
Because my thought is that all... I have a china set. Or I have two... I have... Well, I had. I gave one to Willow, my niece.
00:51:48
Speaker
I had two china sets from my grandmother. And I have one and she has one. Well, they all have handles and stuff like that. Interesting. so is it.
00:51:59
Speaker
And it was made in china. but If it's China, i don't know. Do you see where I'm like... I can hear myself sounding pretty stupid here.
00:52:11
Speaker
But at the same time... it seems like... We're both kind of right. The reason that the chain the the we call the country China is because that is where they invented high quality porcelain.
00:52:24
Speaker
That's where it comes from. where always come from. So it became known as China. I'm not sure where the word came from, but the country was synonymous with this material that came from this place. So not necessarily anything at all to do. So like a tea set.
00:52:44
Speaker
doesn't necessarily have anything at all to do with China, even though it is China. Yeah. And yet yeah, yeah. And like the people of China call China.
00:52:56
Speaker
i don't even know how to pronounce this. Yeah. It's definitely, you know, people China do not call China China.
00:53:07
Speaker
Yikes.
00:53:09
Speaker
Oh, we're going down. Oh,
00:53:13
Speaker
Okay, sorry, this is so dumb. You're fine. gotta stop. Tell me. Nothing. just thinking about this whole conversation of what in the world. But anyway, Instagram post.
00:53:27
Speaker
Yeah. I'm not sure how we got down this rabbit hole, but... I don't know. Zongu is what Chinese people call China. I'm butchering that, I am sure.
00:53:41
Speaker
But anyway, tea cups may or may not have handles. Yeah, we'll find out somebody educates us. We're just two lonely educators tired of a Monday night.
00:53:54
Speaker
Oh, God. Yeah, I don't even know. i don't even know how we got on this. So then let's move on to a fist fight in the middle of the street. Oh, that's right. Well, they were drinking their coffee very quickly, trying to get out of there. um And they end up going outside. Ross and Chandler, they're going to fight the bullies. And they put all their valuables in there in the hat.
00:54:17
Speaker
i do I do love the way Ross, what's the word? Where you're kind of bouncing back and forth. Oh, yeah. um Like jostling for position. Bobbing weaving. Bobbing weaving. Bobbing weaving before he even got started. I do like David Schwab's acting name, particularly.
00:54:36
Speaker
Yes. yeah But then suddenly... Okay, but where the street in New York where there's no cars...
00:54:47
Speaker
That they would be able to just stand in the middle of the street and pretend like they're going to fight. Like, where's that street in Manhattan? Yeah, in the village. One of those densely packed places in the country. Yeah. yeah anyway But suddenly, here come these two guys and they just, ah you know, make light of these things. Off they go. They've got the watches, the keys.
00:55:10
Speaker
And I was going ask you, why did Chandler not help? I was going to ask you what happened to Chandler's face. Yeah. The girl's, I'd call it a skipping rope. What's it called? jump rope. A skipping rope?
00:55:24
Speaker
Skipping rope. Yes. yeah and it's and and then And suddenly everyone's friends. Yeah. Suddenly they're all getting along with these jerks. It's all about ah what um what bonding over adrenaline, right?
00:55:40
Speaker
Maybe that's it. Common enemy, not each other anymore. Whatever. I don't buy it. But i would love for you to tell me about this final scene. You've brought up the diner. Oh!
00:55:51
Speaker
Yes. Where they go into... Okay. And they're all sitting in this adorable little diner, which... it's It's the Moon Dance Diner. that That's what it's called? Okay. Yes. It's the Moon Dance Diner. And it's actually a very famous diner that was in New York.
00:56:11
Speaker
And then they were going to close it. And so they physically moved it to, i think, Wyoming. or it was somewhere kind of obscure. and then it stayed open for ah very minuscule amount of time. But then the weather...
00:56:29

like just destroyed it. And so they closed it. Oh, but, but yes, like it's the cutest little fifties diner and it's got ah little like jukeboxes on the tables.
00:56:43
Speaker
And I remember whenever I was a kid going to a restaurant where they had the jukebox on the table and you could play the music, but you didn't have to use money, but you would like put in your request at your table and then it would play eventually, you know?
00:56:58
Speaker
Right. Um, Yeah. And then they thought they, they put in you know, they ah hoot and holler at her and everything and make fun of her flame retardant um ah body add in yes added, added parts.
00:57:13
Speaker
And then they put in a quarter and play YMCA. And as soon as the song starts, the entire staff's up there and they're dancing. And um ah i don't know. We were wondering and okay. Okay.
00:57:29
Speaker
There are so many 60s songs. So many. YMCA came out in 1978, I think.
00:57:43
Speaker
So why You know what I mean? Right. right Whenever my dad and I were in Italy, we went to a 50s diner. And it was called the American Diner.
00:57:54
Speaker
And it was so cute because the you know, they were dressed in like the, the girls were in poodle skirts and they were on roller skates. And then the guy was like, uh, wearing white and had the little like paper hat, you know, like, and, um, they thought it was really funny.
00:58:13
Speaker
They, they, they They teased us because we went and we were obviously Americans going into the American diner because we thought it was funny. But they had like Elvis and Marilyn Monroe and you know all these different things. um But that's what this diner is like for me. It's also like the in the Back to the Future where they go to the ah forward to 2000 whatever.
00:58:43
Speaker
And it's the 50s diner with Max Headroom and all of that. but I love, as we've talked about before, Back to the Future. Yes. It's just, I mean, so many people love it.
00:58:55
Speaker
Oh, it's it's unbelievably good. Yes. Well, and then Joey drops all the quarters all over the table to show, like, we are camped out. We are here for the night.
00:59:08
Speaker
Yes. And it made me excited because I'm like, so then I started thinking, like, I wonder what other songs that they play and dance to and all of that. And then I wonder why they chose...
00:59:22
Speaker
a seven like ymca because is it just because of the dents like to get monica up there i mean i'm with you it doesn't fit right right and there were so many so many other ones and they could have even done like grease and you know which is set then but like you know but i there was different choices Different choices that could have been made to stay on theme for the diner.
00:59:49
Speaker
Right. But I'm definitely thinking about that way too hard. but i No, I love it. i And we say this so many times. the The set, does I love the set of it. I love the way it's put together, of this diner.
01:00:03
Speaker
um i'm not sure how many times we see it but it's yeah the costumes of the but the costumes of all the all the people that work there yeah and and then okay and then they gave because joseph was trying to we were trying to like piece together the costumes that they were wearing and like what was the purpose and then we were like okay and so like monica's costume ah Why does she have the horn-rimmed glasses? Like, they're cute.
01:00:33
Speaker
Right. And they totally are ah Go with the outfit and all of that. But she doesn't wear glasses. Right. We're not ever going to see her in those glasses again. Like, I don't know.
01:00:46
Speaker
don't know. No, you're right. Because I thought, are are the people that dress up? But they're not. I think it's just a general theme. Yes. Like a very stereotypical, like, here's the biker chick with the big hair.
01:00:59
Speaker
And then here's the, you know, it's like that. so It's a shame what came to my mind, and this just shows that the middle-aged station of life I'm finding myself in. It's like, I thought about, did you ever see the film Coyote Ugly?
01:01:16
Speaker
Oh, yeah. ah Right, great film. Yes. So well done. Do not tell me you were thinking about them dancing on the bar. So what I was thinking about was in the bar situation, your standards are low. You're only drinking. You're not eating in a bar. Dance on the bar. That's acceptable. That's gross.
01:01:34
Speaker
and But in a diner, when they hop off after dancing to the YMCA, does somebody come through and scrub it down? i would hope so. I would hope so because a diner floor is probably not the cleanest. of you know You're walking back and forth from the kitchen and this and that. And and that's where my mind went.
01:01:53
Speaker
Well, and here's the deal. So whenever she came in from the interview and she told Rachel, you know, she has to wear fake this and that. And she has to dance on counters.
01:02:06
Speaker
But we're not ever going to see them dance on counters again. And you've been to restaurants like Babes and wherever where the people dance at different times, but they do it on the floor.
01:02:18
Speaker
And I think it would have been totally fine if they would have just danced between the bar and the booths and all of that. and I feel it would it would help the insurance policy of the restaurant as well. No workman's cough claims. Right. you're You're eating on a bar where people spilled coffee and God knows what. I mean, it seems like claims waiting to happen. Right, right. Right. so But again, that's showing my middle-agedness worried about the insurance and such.
01:02:45
Speaker
Right. Yeah. But I hear you. Yeah. But it's a we I guess we do see it a good few more times because we have Julio, Pete. you know So there's some you know important stuff that does happen in this diner.
01:03:01
Speaker
I think she works there until the middle of season three. Yeah. Okay. um I'm interested because I don't remember how long she worked there, but it must be a decent little amount of time.
01:03:11
Speaker
So the next time that the restaurant pops up, I'll i'll have more information about the Moonday. I like it. I like it. I'll be interested. Yeah. Well, how did you, well, let's see. No, before we get to the whole episode, your Gunther Central Park for this week.
01:03:26
Speaker
My Gunther Central Park for this week is Phoebe. Phoebe. Yep. Phoebe. E-I-E-I-O Phoebe. Yes. Yes. i I've got to be honest, I didn't feel there was really much standout-ness in this episode, but it's quite Phoebe-centric. I think she does well. Yeah.
01:03:50
Speaker
Chandler was second for me because some of his interactions and some of his one-liners, the way he falls when he grabs the hat back. You know, it's it's it's Matthew Perry at his physical comedy finest.
01:04:02
Speaker
But i am good it has to be Phoebe. I think it's a Phoebe-heavy episode. yeah Yes, yes. but And let's see, we're sitting down in the Moondance diner.
01:04:14
Speaker
We're getting our, I don't know, a chocolate malt. Milkshakes. Milkshakes. I love it. Malts. A malt. yeah A malt. We're in the malt store. But they're little ones, so we don't get a sore tummy. Yeah. But how many of these mini malts are you going to give this episode?
01:04:28
Speaker
I am going to have seven and half. I like it. I like it. Well, I'm going to stick with just seven, ah think, for this one.
01:04:39
Speaker
I think the actors did the best they could with, I don't think the storylines were great for me. Yeah. But i think the actors did well. But a solid seven. Seven is still good.
01:04:50
Speaker
Yes. But I'm excited that now we've got Frank in the scenes. I do enjoy Frank. Frank's here now. And ah the diner, like i said, I've got a real sweet spot for that diner.
01:05:03
Speaker
i love that diner. love that you do. It's nice when that stuff happens. Yes. So I'm looking forward you. whenever you that it's been coming.
01:05:14
Speaker
Yeah. and And now we're here. We're finally here. I'm looking forward to you digging into it and sharing with us your thoughts. I'm next week. I can't decide how I feel about this. I'll know once we dig into it It's the one with two parties.
01:05:30
Speaker
It's Rachel's birthday and mom and dad. of two I'll be, I'm looking forward to kind of going through this because I have feelings about it that are a bit contradictory to each other. So I'm looking forward to it.
01:05:43
Speaker
All right. Well, I am looking forward to it as well. Awesome. Awesome. Well, yes, next week, the one with two parties. But as always, thank you, everybody out there, for listening to the Purple Door podcast.
