Responsibilities? Ugh, who wants that am I right?! If we look closely though, responsibilities are the way that we learn the big lessons in life or get the biggest rewards that we never thought we could. Responsibilities help us break our shells so we can get out of our comfort zone and start challenging ourselves for bigger and better things. Disruptions in Planning

00:00:14
Speaker
Hey guys, so welcome to the podcast. So today I'm talking about something super exciting, but also something I didn't think that I would be talking about like today today. I thought like I had some time, you know, I feel like sometimes things don't work out the way you expect them to.
00:00:32
Speaker
You know when you have plans for the things that that's supposed to happen and you have like a timeline for it, then it either keeps being pushed back or just happens early all of a sudden.
00:00:46
Speaker
That's what's happened this past week and I've been dealing with it.

Buying a Tesla: A New Experience

00:00:52
Speaker
And what I'm talking about is everyone's gonna be like, what are you even saying? I think I mentioned this on my podcast earlier, back in February, I think, that I placed an order of Tesla back in February. Yes, back in February 28th or something.
00:01:10
Speaker
I know it exactly because I always go back and forth to see when I place the order because it's like it has been such a long time and like it was keep being pushed back until September but last week I think was Thursday right after even the episode I published it or maybe it was later in Thursday that I got a written number which is like in case you guys are not car person or
00:01:37
Speaker
had any car. It's the vehicle identification number, which is just essential, essentially meaning that like vehicles here. So and then you have to do a bunch of things. It's like this. I don't know how it works with a regular like when you buy a regular car. And not to say like in a weird way, just like buying a Tesla is such a different experience versus like buying a car from a

Tesla Purchase Challenges

00:02:00
Speaker
dealer. You know, you go to a dealer and you do all the things kind of there.
00:02:05
Speaker
very like in person experience, I guess like traditional car market or buying a regular car from a dealer. But this Tesla is such a different experience, like super different. Like everything is through the app and they give you like a bunch of tasks that you need to do.
00:02:25
Speaker
You know, based on like how you're doing, I don't want to make this like about that, but I'm just saying like it was such a big step for me. It was like, you know, like the financing if you're financing or cash and then after you have to do the insurance and some states you have to get the insurance way before to make sure.
00:02:44
Speaker
like your car is covered and that's the only way they accept it. Then you have a down payment or final payment.

Stress and Urban Living

00:02:50
Speaker
It's like everything is through the app and you have to go through that process. And that most absurd part is that like God forbid, like because I feel like mine was not due until August 26 and this happened like literally two weeks before.
00:03:04
Speaker
They put my delivery date like for this past Monday. I was like, I'm sorry. Like you sprung this upon on me on Friday because they assigned me the mid number on Thursday and on Friday we were like dealing about the issue and like the finance and the insurance. I was like, I can't do anything. It's literally going towards the weekend. So they're like, we'll put for Monday. I was like, can you put like later? They were so persistent. So I was able to push it to Wednesday.
00:03:33
Speaker
And I was able to, because today's such a bad day, I'm recording this Wednesday. I have campaigns due, I have things that I need to take care of. I was like, this is such an inconvenient time. And also it's like, guys, like I live in New York City. Like it's not like I have like a driveway or something. I'm like, oh yeah, it's so convenient. I'll just pick up the car and just put it in my driveway. It's just not like that. Also, I want to have like a full experience of like,
00:04:01
Speaker
I don't know, checking everything in the car, like I don't want to be rushing because, you know, it's a big, big purchase. And also I want to record it, everything, you know, it's going to be fun experience. So I was able to push it for the last time. They were like, you cannot do any more unless like we will have to release the win if you don't pick it up on Friday. So we're like, OK, I was able to push it for Friday. So I'm very excited.

Financial Commitment: Excitement vs Fear

00:04:26
Speaker
You guys are going to ask, why are you even talking about this? First of all, this is part of the update. So in case you're not familiar, if you're a new listener, that's what it is. This is the update process. But this is connected to today's episode because this is taking on more responsibilities.
00:04:44
Speaker
in some ways like it really is so and that's why it was like I even like came up with this topic because of this whole experience and I just feel like I don't know it's so exciting and terrifying at the same time to take big steps and I feel like buying a car is such a big step again this might seem like something simple for other people but

Financial Strategy Advice

00:05:14
Speaker
because I have always lived my life in like urban spaces especially like somewhere like New York City even before that it was like still a city like Washington DC is like you technically do
00:05:29
Speaker
need a car, but I was I was little and Again, I feel like people still get a car when they're 17 But like I did not have that privilege at that time And I don't think my aunt would have even let me drive that to drive her car Which again, it was a pretty pretty old car. Anyways, not the point I'm just saying I never had that experience until now
00:05:52
Speaker
So I am very very excited but also very terrified because I'm spending a lot of money guys. Like I know like this might seem so little for some people you know like some people spend a ton of money like but I feel like for middle income this is a lot of money even not even just that like I have to be honest guys
00:06:15
Speaker
the like if I were to buy this car I like if I I wish I bought this car like earlier because I would have probably saved at least maybe 5k on this car because of inflation and because of all the things I like the price definitely went up
00:06:34
Speaker
But again, I still got a decent deal because I ordered back in February because they did raise their prices after that, but I was able to lock in because I ordered earlier, but it's still expensive. And not to mention, because of any finance event,
00:06:51
Speaker
you cannot cover your financing, cannot cover the sales tax. So you still have to do that. Again, I was prepared for this, but I'm just saying it's not like peanuts. There's like registration fee, tire fee, like all this shit and the sales tax on top of it. So it's like you're looking, even if you don't have down payment, I mean like nothing, you're still looking for at least 4K, like at least 4K.
00:07:17
Speaker
So I'm just saying, I feel like sometimes people think they're like, oh my God, I can just get a car. It's like monthly payment. I think monthly payment isn't something that scares me, to be honest, because unless you're getting super expensive car, right, which is like sometimes it becomes up like 1K or I don't know, 1K something a month for financing or the lease. But this one is like I got a pretty decent deal. I worked on my credit during this past six months, guys, just for this reason.
00:07:45
Speaker
But I'm just saying usually like I feel like monthly payments doesn't scare me because it's like mine is like around six, seven hundred. But I feel like the times if it was over 1K, I'd be like, OK, that is kind of scary to come up with. But I feel like this this thing is like insurance or down payment or on top of it, if you have the sales tax, because I'm glad I don't have that much down payment.
00:08:12
Speaker
And this is one thing I

Growth through Responsibility

00:08:13
Speaker
would say. Again, this is not even the topic of today's thing, but I just learned from my accountant or family accountant that he was saying, like, don't use your money unless you have to use their money. So this is essentially what I'm trying to say. Like, even with the car, right?
00:08:31
Speaker
Yes, you should have the money for the car. That's not what I'm trying to say. Like if you can buy it in cash, I guess. But again, car is not like a house. It's a depreciating asset. So you don't want to put your cash in there because you can get a better value if you invested or did something else with it.
00:08:51
Speaker
Because think about it, like, again, it's not me, my family accountant said that, that like, whatever you're putting down in the car, it's essentially a waste because it's not contributing ton to your downpane, like to your principal or whatever. So like, don't put too much down, essentially. Again, this is like, I'm not trying to give financial advice, whatever. This is what I have been told.
00:09:15
Speaker
So because I initially had one offer from Tesla's itself But again, it's like through a different bank then I had another offer from like my bank I applied myself Because I have a relationship with them then another then I told Tesla I was like well Can you match it because apparently they used to match that which is a cool thing? But I was like, can you like do something else with it? Like I mean like can you help me like we cannot match it but can you give me another offer and they did give me more offer which I
00:09:43
Speaker
Again come to the point that like I am essentially not putting any down payment at all I'm just paying for sales tax and the registration fee and stuff, which is normal But again, this is what I'm trying to say is like yeah, you should have the money for the car But you don't want to put that down like you can pay them mostly payment and shit Because you essentially have the money for it, but you must have money, you know because you have to think about that Like I this is what I have been told
00:10:09
Speaker
use their money, don't use yours. Unless you really, really have to. And in my case, I didn't have to. So I'm glad for that. Because I have to be honest, I really didn't want it to even if I had because I had the money, but I just didn't want to put that much down payment. Like, because initially they were like asking me over, I don't know, like,
00:10:29
Speaker
I think Tesla was asking me, including the sales tax, it was like 20K. Without the sales tax, it would have been like maybe, I don't know, 14K or something, 14, 15K. But again, I was like, oh, no, I don't want to look though. I mean, if it was a house, that's a different story. But again, you'd be lucky if you're putting only 20K for a house these days.
00:10:50
Speaker
Like even that doesn't I didn't I mean I have heard like you can put 20% But like what is it? Okay? I'm not a good mass person, but I'm just saying like I feel like you would be lucky if you're putting even 20k for a house so Especially in today's market, so it's not happening
00:11:06
Speaker
Okay, so a little bit of the process. Finally, let's transition on to today's topic. Taking on more responsibilities sometimes seem like an optional thing. And let's be real, it's like, would you want to even take on more responsibilities? But I think we have to look at it like more closely on like what am I even saying and why that's even a necessary step.
00:11:30
Speaker
It's like one of those things that like, yet technically, when we get into the technicality, you don't need to take on more responsibilities. Like, not if you need to, you don't have to. Like, it's not a must thing. But if you want bigger, better things, or if you want growth in your life, you do need to take more responsibilities in life. And that's just a part of it.
00:11:57
Speaker
And that comes back to being in our comfort zone because I think, yes, sometimes we fall into this trap of being in our comfort zone and we like it because we are in comfort. We do the things we know we are doing and we just keep doing it every day and we're in just that bubble.
00:12:19
Speaker
Again, it's not necessarily a bad thing and it doesn't even sound like it's a bad thing but over time that becomes just

Embracing Challenges for Growth

00:12:27
Speaker
so constant that you are like What am I doing even in life? You know, like it just it doesn't become interesting anymore. It becomes so monotonous monotonous and
00:12:38
Speaker
Monotonous? I don't know. Guys, one sec. I have so Google this. Okay, I was right. It says monotonous. So I was right. Yeah. So it becomes like dull, tedious, repetitive, lacking in variety and interest. Not me. That's what Google is saying. But again, that's what I was trying to say. So I feel like that's what happens over time with us being in our comfort zone. It's just because we are used to it, right? Like we are used to doing this.
00:13:05
Speaker
Again, I feel like that is a thing that you might do for a bit, but you don't want to do that for the rest of your life. Then all of a sudden, when you are like older, you're just like, what have I done? I just have been doing the same thing over and over. Here are some examples that we can say.
00:13:22
Speaker
You know, and again, this is not to judge anyone or say anything because everyone has a different life. And the consequences are very different. So I cannot, you know, judge that. But I'm just using this as an example of my experience. Well, just experiences overall, you know, like sometimes people just stay in their hometown. They don't like move or they don't go anywhere.
00:13:49
Speaker
That's them essentially being comfortable in their own area.
00:13:56
Speaker
Again, not to say like this is a bad thing because maybe they're succeeding and they're doing what they really wanted to do. But again, this is their comfort zone because they have been there their whole life. It's your comfort zone. You know everyone or if it is that small town, you know your way around. You have built something there. But you need to take on bigger challenges. Hence, I'm seeing more responsibilities in this topic. I guess more challenges in a way.
00:14:23
Speaker
or in other aspect is that like what if you have been in a job for a while and like things are doing fine but like you just don't feel like this is this is it like it just becomes so tedious and monotonous it's like you have to take on new thing or there are times that like in your career you're like I mean career in your life
00:14:45
Speaker
Look, I have been doing this like this. There's not much new things happening to me. Maybe I need to move or maybe I need to get a dog or maybe I need to stop renting and buy a house.
00:15:01
Speaker
or I need to buy a new car or buy a car. In my case, I was just mentioning. These are all things essentially adding on more responsibilities. Again, they're not exactly compared to each other, but they're challenging things and the things that you might need to do that can add more responsibilities to your life like buying a house. God, like again, I'm not like I am completely familiar with it, but my boyfriend went through that process and I essentially
00:15:30
Speaker
saw him going through that process so I saw how complicated that process was and how long that process was. I'm just saying like there's so much to add to it and even after that process is like you have responsibilities of being a homeowner you know the insurance for it and the mortgage then there's maintenance HOA depending on where you live it's like
00:15:54
Speaker
When things are broken, you have to fix it yourself. It's like it's so complicated. But again, that's why I'm trying to say responsibilities or buying a car. I mentioned at the beginning of this episode as a part of updates. So I don't have to repeat that or adopting a puppy or thinking about kids, like even the puppy, like
00:16:15
Speaker
big big responsibility that puppy face and like then you have to take care of them you have to take them out for a walk is like it is something that is adding to your life but again this one I'm trying to say is like it will switch things up for you and change things for you because it is different
00:16:33
Speaker
you're no longer just by yourself, you have more responsibilities, you have things to take care of, or their life depends on you. Like when you think about kids or puppies, because yeah, they are, I mean, especially puppies, they're like beautiful creatures, love animals, but like, they really depend on you. So like, their livelihood is dependent on you, and that is a responsibility to take on.
00:16:57
Speaker
not so lightly,

Breaking Routines for Growth

00:16:58
Speaker
right? And that's what I'm saying, it literally changed your life upside down and it's a different life. But again, that's why it's so rewarding too, because things have to be like we need to break our shell in order to head on to bigger things and better things so we can have more valuable lessons in life. Because I mentioned in the beginning that like it's not like mustang,
00:17:20
Speaker
I don't I'm not saying that like everyone has to do it But it's like something that like I feel like you're realizing is like if your life is not challenging You have to make it challenging so it get big it becomes better and more rewarding I would compare this again. It might be a weird comparison but So when you go to gym, right?
00:17:41
Speaker
Yes, you can keep working out and do the workouts, right? Similar workouts or sets, right? But if you don't do at least every other set or like practically you should like ideally every set until failure, you're not really doing much. Yeah, like you're not taking on more like challenge. Like it has to be challenging.
00:18:07
Speaker
like if your workout is not challenging you don't have to be sweating because sometimes it just doesn't happen but it still has to be challenging it has to feel like you hit that failure and this is exactly what it is like if your life is so comfortable
00:18:23
Speaker
Like, there's nothing great going to come out of it. I'm not saying there's something bad might come out of it, not necessarily, but not something great is going to come out. Like, don't expect that. Like, I feel like sometimes we expect like, oh my God, we are doing everything. It's like great, this monotonous life. But like, you cannot expect so rewarding things. You have to take on challenges. You have to take on risks. And like, that's when the good, like great things happen.
00:18:50
Speaker
When you look at all these celebrities, I know this is not a lot of people believe that, but they have really accomplished something. They really have. And some of them really didn't even have a home when they even moved to Hollywood. They were sleeping in their car or something. I'm just saying, this is a very dramatic scenario, but I'm just saying that you have to break that cycle. You have to break your shell.

Responsibilities and Maturity

00:19:20
Speaker
so you can take on bigger things because taking on more responsibilities help us become more mature but also help us realize what steps need to be taken in order to learn and understand the next phase of our lives this definitely seemed like an optional step but it's the most important one for our growth
00:19:41
Speaker
And that's the last thing I want to say because I just think I have dwelled so much about it like talking about the more responsibilities, but I think that's the one thing that kind of connects us to Responsibilities and taking on challenges because I think with this way we kind of become mature and we kind of understand and
00:20:03
Speaker
what we want to do in life or what are some next steps that we need to do. And I feel like that's something that we cannot get in other way. We have to only do it by taking on more challenges and responsibilities. And that's, I think, like worth a lot. So that was episode for today. I hope you guys like this episode. If you do, please don't forget to rate us on Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast. And I'll see you guys next week with another episode. Bye guys.
