Ep 14 Vision Boards and Vino

S1 E14 · SEMI-PRECIOUS
Avatar
31 Plays2 months ago

If you need your spirits lifted by listening to two women laugh and talk over one another, then this episode is for you. Hector the horse gets a special mention as does the Argentinian stallion (also a horse despite Amber’s intimations).

The actual topic is vision boards, however we don’t do the process (which we both use in our professional lives) much justice. During the sharing of their vision board creations, Jade’s lack of metaphor or symbolism leaves amber to imagine knotted vulvas and other such hilarity. Which for the record were not very sound interpretations, she would make a terrible therapist.

Perhaps you will be inspired or a little curious, at the very least you will laugh along with us.

Speaker
Hello and welcome to semi-precious episode 14, Vision Boards and Vino on the Girls' Weekend. Yes, we are still here in sunny Kindton, Victoria. Yes, we are. Hello, everyone. Two episodes in two days is a record.
00:00:54
Speaker
yeah And for all those thousands of listeners, it's going to be waiting. And no, you'll waiting. I've been getting so many DMs just saying, when when girls, we love you. yeah Anyway, righty um firstly, just saying, we have ticked a lot of boxes over the last couple of days.
00:01:15
Speaker
We have. Let's run through one of the boxes. Didn't have notes. So one of them is, Amber petted Hector the horse through her car window. Yeah, I patted a horse through my car window. So that was pretty... Just any horse. Hector. Hector. Yeah. Hector's a great horse. Hector this morning is a very male horse.
00:01:35
Speaker
is maladies were out on show. on showing full display. And a child said, oh, I think he's doing a big poo. I'm like, hmm. No, no. And unless he's been holding that one for a year. So that's Hector. So this afternoon when I patted him, it was all PC. It was. Not XXX Hector. No. But if you Google XXX Hector,

Horse Riding and Creative Activities

00:02:00
Speaker
I'm sure... Don't Google that.
00:02:02
Speaker
um All right, sorry, what what else was there? We went horse riding. We did, yeahp not on Hector. I wish I hadn't come in with that one straight away.
00:02:18
Speaker
No, we did go on actual, no, that wasn't actual horses. We went on other horses. Not on this property. It was a trail ride. Trail ride in Dallas. And it was absolutely lovely. And I got to canter much to the surprise of my niece. She said, oh, you canter a horse. She didn't think I'd ever done anything with my life.
00:02:42
Speaker
no No, clearly we're just middle-aged women and that's how we're born. That's all we've been. I said yes and told her many tales of Argentinian stallions. I did say who you are to me. She's dead. To really, you know, think about these Argentinian stories because I've heard them. And yes, there were animal horses, but also Australians that were not animals. So can you keep the story to my daughter, PC? I'm trying to stick my wine. Hence the vino.
00:03:19
Speaker
Okay, so we went actual horse riding and that was actually fun and I did canter. We went to site this asada in darlesford a a cidery.

Book Club and Reading Habits

00:03:30
Speaker
We had a cider tasting puddle and some pizzas. What else did we save on to do that we have done? ah Well, I did some watercolour painting. You did some watercolour painting in a sketch. I did some watercolour painting in a sketch.
00:03:42
Speaker
Yeah, we didn't crochet anything, but nothing wrong with crocheting. Are we toasted marshmallows? We did. I made a fire. We were on bush walks. I think I've successfully put the fire out, but I might need to go down and check. The kids might be on fire. We'll see. What else did we do?
00:03:59
Speaker
went to a winery went to the hanging rock climbed some boulders we did climb some boulders i've read a book the book that i said i would have finished and then passed on to amra and she bought a new book i've been waiting to relaxively read my book while away but of course jade did you just say relaxfully Relaxingly. You said relax. I said something by just being relaxed. Okay, and you didn't get to because I still haven't finished my book. No. But I have joined a book club. About that book. And that's the book that we're going to be- You know you have to give me that book before we leave tomorrow. I don't need the actual- Do we need the hard copy when you go to a book club? I think so. Do you? You need to sit there with the book as demonstration. It's not a kindle party. I don't- I just walk in with your iChat. Kindle party.
00:04:46
Speaker
I did take some photos. I'm going to scroll to page 46 and read this excerpt for you. I did take some photos of some sections and take some quotes from the book. But every book club I've seen, they're all sitting around drinking

Vision Books and Creative Tools

00:05:00
Speaker
wine with the book in hand. And now everybody wants to know the book. It's the latest Liani Moriarty book. What the hell is it called? I don't know. Do you know a book? I haven't got the chance to read a book yet. I don't know. Do you know what it is?
00:05:15
Speaker
I'm terrible with titles, but it's a really good book. Anyway, you should read it. Okay. When I finish it, you get it. When you finish it, yes. So we've done lots, but we thought we would record an episode on vision boards. So recently I went for some Italian down Ligon Street in Melbourne. Reading's book shop there is one of my favourite bookshops. Whenever I go in there, I come out hundreds of dollars less because I buy tea towels and socks and books and... You bought socks again today. Any tea towels? I do buy socks. Really boring, boring songs. Well, they match my pants and I'm wearing now actually. Let's see how many books they've got. The book is called Here One Moment.
00:05:57
Speaker
Just a quick Google search to remember the book that I've been reading. For weeks. Yeah. You might want to kind of... No more than the title. The title you don't want to have to Google when you get to the book club. That's why you have it with you. That's why I have the book. Well, all right. We can't have it until Sunday then. What? I've got to take it to the book club. Oh, Jesus. I've just done myself a book. Anyway, what did you get from Reading School Shop?
00:06:26
Speaker
Um, a book on vision boarding.

Vision Board Critiques and Insights

00:06:30
Speaker
Now I do a lot of vision boarding in my branding client work using metaphors to help express a brand's future vision and current state. And we have done visioning, vision boards together in the past. But I also use it as a therapeutic tool in my counseling practice.
00:06:51
Speaker
not necessarily always creating a big vision board, but certainly using images and words and quotes and such to tap into what's happening for you, or what your intentions are, or any unconscious. So I bought some books from a small Carleton art gallery. Actually, they weren't that impressed, I like, they're only $6.50 each, I think, given the... And they can hear you playing with that book a lot, just coming through the mic, just letting you know. That's me. Do you want to just like... flick through it. So they are very lovely little paper books, but the book she actually bought from readings, I don't think you've actually described. Yeah, I said it's called The Vision Book. Oh, did you? Yeah, I'm sorry, I wasn't listening. Right. One of my intentions I'm sending is to listen. And so it is filled with pages and pages of collaged images that you basically cut up. So, I mean, it does- I used to just use magazines. Yeah, it does have a bit more detail, but there were lots of really cool
00:07:49
Speaker
uh vintage images and pages of you know copy and text and it was made somewhat less relaxing by the fact that we had two 10 year old girls also doing it squabbling and jumping around like frogs in socks but what we thought we would do is um critique each other's vision board and we will post up the visuals of what that looks like but I have not seen what Jade has done and Jade has only vaguely acknowledged my masterpiece. So... ah Feels like you're disappointed. and But I'm really excited to dig in and really understand what's happening for Amber. So what we thought we would do is, without explanation, Jade would ask me questions about things on my vision board.
00:08:35
Speaker
So we'll start with my cover that says Amber's vision hashtag living. Although you can't see the G's, it just looks like living. Living. I have one intention, family time, and then blank. Oh, is that your intentions page? Okay. She's got no other intentions. No. Okay. All right. Wow. There's, there's a lot happening. It's a double spread. Double spread. What jumps out first? Psychologically analyze what that means.
00:09:02
Speaker
Go for it. Ready? Ready. Lips. On a double-page spread, I just saw lips. And a rocket.
00:09:17
Speaker
He's going to be snorting it in his case. Lips, rocket. Don't say what he said. I just said that... Does that say just fuck? Yep. Right. Okay, that's what I saw next. Why does it say just fuck? So there's a bit that says...
00:09:31
Speaker
It's just a quote that said, so I said, just fuck right off. It was on a another line. It's a bit abstract. Okay. But the the rocket, the lips and the just fuck paint a picture um for you. All right. So now you get to Q and&A any part and I'll see if I can remember. Okay. I'm seeing these double hearts.
00:09:54
Speaker
and also look together like two bump like a bum cheek underneath. What is this bum cheek double heart scenario? Well, the double hearts, they're actually oysters. other oysters. Yeah. So they look like the earrings because it's a drawing of an oyster opening and then fully opened. I suppose oysters are a symbol of beauty, but also just fine dining, which I enjoy. I thought we were going to go deeper, but we didn't. and We didn't. We've gone crass and then just fine dining and looking good. Okay. But also, I do love pearls, so
00:10:29
Speaker
I thought we were going to get deeper into the metaphor of... ...reigniting life post-40s? Sure. Go there. There is a roller skating pink-haired girl with rainbow long socks on. What's happening? She just firstly looked like she was having fun, and that has been one of my mantras for this year, is just to have more fun.
00:10:54
Speaker
Oh, you had fun. Give less fucks and have more fun. I liked the fact that she

Family and Personal Growth Exploration

00:11:00
Speaker
was just fully confident in her blue crop top rainbow socks and pink hot pants and pink hair. I like the cheers. And the yellow headset.
00:11:09
Speaker
Yeah, her headset, um she looks flexible, so she looked like she'd been doing quite a bit of yoga because she's doing one of those one-legged down on the ground kind of samples. It is quite hard. That's why. She's having fun. She's having fun and gives Zero Fox. And I see the lips is now a telephone. It's a telephone, yeah. So why? What? I just like the retro vibe of that. With the roller skates, okay. They're just aligned. ah The rocket? Just because I'm always blowing shit up. Boss bitch, okay. the There's one on the top of Amber, she was sitting opposite me and she had the magazine.
00:11:45
Speaker
And I went to cut something out of the magazine by leaning over and realized it was actually stuck on her vision board. My vision board was so good that she thought it was the inspiration for the visual and went to start hacking it up. Amazing. It says theatre stage door. What's happening there? i'm Side note, if anyone follows Cindy Gallop, who is the next kind of marketing advertising genius. ah description of herself is she's the Michael Bay route of media and because she likes to blow shit up. So that's why I got the way she does. Right. So it's not about the stage door. note wo No, we're backtracking. Okay. Stage door. I decided, well, not only because I like doing podcasts.
00:12:29
Speaker
um

Therapeutic Benefits of Vision Boards

00:12:30
Speaker
But I want to learn how to do improv comedy. That's right. You did say that. And I was thinking I wanted to get back into doing theatre. Because there's one in the city. I know there's one in the city. All right. I'll go with you. Yeah. So what about Naked Lady covering herself with a... Oh, she is a symbol of creativity. Yes. Adobe user on Adobe Illustrator. Okay, cool.
00:12:54
Speaker
um She looks like her head's being eaten by a lobster. What's happening? Yes, again, um that was beautiful food in abundance to be enjoyed beautiful with people that I love. Yeah, I like that. It's got a very Tuscan vibe. There's a lobster. I do love lobster. Grapes, fruit. Some jars of lentils. You'll be pleased to know, Jay, no processed food exists on that. Good, mate.
00:13:21
Speaker
the cornucopia of nature. Riveting. i Vote for women. Yes, just continue on my famous activism. Yeah, there's a strong and empowered a bunch of women with their fists in the air behind. Do we have the Aurora Borealis Northern Lights down here? Yes, that is on my bucket list because I do really want to see those Northern Lights. and Whenever people send me pictures of the Southern Lights that were like in Victoria or or Tasmania, it really hurts my heart that I miss them.
00:13:51
Speaker
yeah You've got a lightning bolt at the top. That's my symbol that I'm going to get tattooed on my wrist. Not that exact one. No, that one

Cinema Snacks and Vision Parallels

00:14:00
Speaker
that you just sketched up yourself. You've got a... is that the strength lion one? Is that from a tarot deck? It is, yeah. I liked firstly the vintage illustration style, but also just the symbol of strength.
00:14:12
Speaker
All right, she's got activism. She's got sevens because I know she loves sevens. She's got an upside down country cottage. Not sure why it's upside down. I just felt like it was getting a bit predictable.
00:14:26
Speaker
I needed to mess some stuff up. Mess some stuff up. Okay. And the Country Cottage, is that the one you're buying me in Dalsford? Yes. That's the one we opened by. We just walked past a real estate agent and we just thought she should buy me one and then pretend to give it to her husband for his birthday. That's actually not a genuinely good idea, except he would see the large transaction being withdrawn from the accounts that he's also a signature to. Possibly.
00:14:55
Speaker
ah but ah What's 175 for? ah Well, it was actually only the 75 that I wanted because that was small. You know, you had scissors. You could have just cut the one out sleeping it up and she's got a princess crown. That seems fairly self-explanatory.
00:15:12
Speaker
She thinks she's royalty. You have a... Who's this woman that looks Marilyn Monroe-esque? Well, she looks like she's doing exercise, but she's in heels, so I sort of... Even though that's impractical, I like the spirit of which she's exercising. Is there anything else here that I haven't um

Podcast Personal Nature and Audience Engagement

00:15:30
Speaker
picked on that you would like? What's this Egyptian that looks like? A queen.
00:15:35
Speaker
It's all about power. Oh, what's her name? Is it Isis? Not like... No. Not that I... No, no, no, no. No? She's taking a dark turn. We'll be cut off the airwaves in about 36 minutes. Cheaper screens. She's got BOSS written there. Is it anything else? No. Wow, you worked well on that. It does look beautiful. There are a lot of metaphors in there. There are a lot of metaphors. All right. Jade's vision is on the front of this brown recycled with some watercolour organic Gorman-esque splotches. Oh, right, yes. Okay, page one. Oh, I was going to do the what do I see first. Well, hang on, because i so I decided just to put, we work differently. She did a double page spread. I did a word on like five different pages that kind of a maybe some values of mine or just words that I wanted to choose and did a little bit on each. So you get to choose. Joy is the first thing I saw.
00:16:29
Speaker
Okay, that's the actual, that's the title of the page. That one's the Joy page. Yep. Right. Go again. Okay. Ah, the bird. Oh, the bird. I've become a bit of a bird noticer recently, and I really like sketching birds and painting birds and trying to figure out what their names are. I've gotten to that age. Hey, cut this girl out. and up on you god and i How did it content.
00:16:59
Speaker
They don't know what it is. Anyway, there's a girl who looks like she's just walked into Woodstock in the 60s. She looks quite liberated for her. She's smiling. She's in the sun. It's joy. She looks joyful. Okay. The dancing 70s, 80s girl. I'd have thought that she's dancing. I really love just getting up and dancing.
00:17:22
Speaker
Even if, no, Dals like nobody's watching. Apple said, Apple said. She tried to Apple said, no, I tried to Apple said you today. Okay. I said that I really needed, we're in Dalsford. I really needed a honeypot. And she said, you can't say that.
00:17:41
Speaker
And I said, why? I need a honeypot. You know, with one of the little honey stirrer thingies. And then I didn't understand. I couldn't remember what a honeypot was. And then she told me a very graphic terms, what a honeypot was. I tried to apples at her. All right. ah The fish. There's a very elaborate goldfish. Goldfish. It's on the page for Joy. And the fish just is hilarious. Look at his eyeball and his face. Like, he's just funny. He looks a bit... He looks weary to me.
00:18:09
Speaker
Yeah, but I just found him... He's on the board of joy. I just found him amusing, so I put him there. What about the Chassellange? Ah, that's just because he brings me joy to lie around. Okay, okay, okay. And I've always wanted a Chassellange. Yeah. So not in that red velvet. I'd prefer like ah a green velvet. If you want to buy one, that's fine. your fifty s coming I have no idea what the puffin is. Shut up!
00:18:37
Speaker
Don't. What is with the... The puffin? Is it a puffin? The puffin. I don't know. He's just there because also... Maybe you're finally going to write a book? Maybe. That'll bring me joy. Yeah, I see. There's also wine on there and ladies in... What's with the emerald?
00:18:55
Speaker
Or is that a cheap citrine? I don't know. It's a sparkly version of Jade. It's a cut and polished Jade. Okay. Maybe I'm not... It's a vision board. So... All right. I'm looking at the next page page, and I'm picking up the first thing, the green paint splodging out. I think you you gave it to me, so I stuck it there. Okay.
00:19:17
Speaker
i gave it check because it was game The page is creativity, did we? All right, so you've got doilies here. Are you planning on joining the Country Women's Association? I thought I might. It's crocheting and I'd like to get back to crocheting. If you do, can you not give them to me for Christmas? No, I will, actually. My daughter has a really good one as a coaster next to her bed and it's really cute. That seems unstable.
00:19:42
Speaker
It's no. I mean, she's not drinking wine out of it. Like, she's not having champagne next to her bed. Yeah, that's creativity to get the art flow um happening. Okay. Cowhide? It was just a pattern that was left over from another thing I stuck on.
00:19:57
Speaker
Yeah, there's not a lot of metaphor going on on this page. Keep turning, keep turning. Talk to me about depth. What is the salt? I think it's lavender. I think I was just running out of motivation. Move on to one of more of that. Next one, black cat. What does that say about me? That's the first thing I saw. Which one's this? Family. That's just my cat. That's just your cat. Okay.
00:20:20
Speaker
um There's several cats, that's definitely true. I have room two cats, yeah. Is that Violet there with the rockets on her back? ah Yes, there's a child with rockets on the back that's Violet. Is that you hoping to be taken by a large wave on that rock?
00:20:35
Speaker
There's a girl sitting around. Please take me. Actually, it was meant to represent my daughter, but I don't want her to be taken no either. There is scuba diving and that is my daughter who has been scuba diving this week. What else is important here? Liberation, you've got some sort of... The future is female. The future is female. That's pretty much just my oldest daughter when she's all right now. The amethyst.
00:20:57
Speaker
That's kind of all for Violet. on that And then there's jars of herbs and such. Again, not a lot of metaphor. This is fairly transparent. Where are we going to get to the time to process, okay? I've got your husband's job, your daughter's hobbies.
00:21:26
Speaker
There's some fun looking old people dancing and jumping. like okay And there's emotional security and this one never got stuck down. Bubbles. We have a very strange... looks like a a corn eating something on a new page. She's on a new page and that is actually a page of growth and that is a butterfly coming out of its cocoon because I thought the butterfly in its full spread wings was lame. It was a bit cliche. A bit too cliche. I gotta tell you, I am going to photograph this because people need to see that. It's a really heinous looking
00:22:04
Speaker
um um We need change. Tell me about that. Well, because this page is growth, but it's not really just growth for me. I think it's growth for all of humanity, Amber. We need change. So you're getting more profound as we go. I'm getting more profound. there's There's growth. There's the moon. There's the planet. It's equilibrium.
00:22:24
Speaker
and i just a woman describing things i can see thank you thank you for the i good I'm better at this when I'm a therapist, okay? I really hope so.
00:22:42
Speaker
i want my anyway Anyway, you're just not doing a good job. Maybe you need to evoke these, the meaning of these things from within me. That would not make an amazing podcast if I did that. I've just used my subconscious here. Okay, I'm moving on to adventure. Adventure. There's a heart with, are they in real places? I don't know. It's like an old vintage map in the shape of a heart.
00:23:10
Speaker
Love on display, sentiment. I don't know. It just looked like and we were going traveling to where the heart calls. Yeah. Okay. I like it. Good. We're getting there. We're getting something here. We're getting something underneath. We've got some very cool sparkly boots Well, I just thought if I'm going on an adventure, then I should sparkle up. Yeah. You buy me a train, in international train trip for the My 50? Yes, there's an international train trip because I've never been on one. This is like the true sense of a vision board, isn't it? and i There's no depth there. There's a woman standing on the top of a mountain. Was that us on any rock a few days ago?
00:23:49
Speaker
Yeah, it was. With me saying, please don't stand so close to the edge. No, get down. No, don't go on. She was so risk adverse. For somebody who likes risks. Not risks and heights. They are not the two that I like risking with. We would have got a photo like that had I allowed you to raise your arms up. And not be gripping on for dear life. yeah and bos Again, I'm going to have to make it out because I haven't really looked, but I just stuck them into the prism of life. Right, but you see it's a butterfly behind it. I do. Yeah. So you're looking for the wings of a butterfly to a better future. This has got rude quickly. I'm skipping this. Just a naked woman. Peace and strawberries. Talk to me about this. Peace and strawberries. I really like peace and quiet. I have a very stressful
00:24:42
Speaker
job. And strawberries? And family. Yes, I like strawberries. I don't know. Just there. I like the strawberries. was where would My plants upside down. I'm not very good at keeping plants alive, and I've even killed it on my visual. Near the strawberries is a photo of a woman who looks like she's on a picnic, the wide-brimmed hat, and she's carrying a basket on her back that looks like she's about to put fruit in it. She's getting strawberries and upside-down ferns and maybe going to have a cup of tea. But the the house, you haven't mentioned my house. That is impressive. There is a beautiful mansion in the middle of a lake and
00:25:23
Speaker
Nobody can get to me. Like, this is zombie-free. Like, my husband would be really impressed. He likes to have the zombie getaway. Yeah. Well, that would be it. House. Even though... It does look beautiful. If it was a zombie apocalypse, we all know that I'd just... I'd just be the bait, really, the fodder. I can't be bothered. I don't want to live in a zombie apocalypse world. So you're saying you would just go first? I'd just go first. Yeah. I'll just buy them some time. Oh, I'll do that too. I don't want to be chased.
00:25:52
Speaker
And there's obviously a lot of slow chasing. So... Face is pressed up against the window. And that... Yeah. When she used to chase me when we were little, I would get so scared that I'd end up just either locking myself in the bathroom and then you would just... Or just bobbing down.
00:26:10
Speaker
I know. I used to go onto the couch and kick my legs over the air. I'm pretty sure sometimes I was actually just tripped over you because you turned into a ah mushroom. But I remember kicking my legs in the air. It's quite a good tactic to think about chasing someone and then they quickly bob down and you just flip over them.
00:26:27
Speaker
Okay, how do we get from piece to that? What's with carrots? Piece to zombies. I don't know, it just looks peaceful to grow something and not kill it. She looks happy. She looks proud of her carrots. She does look proud of her carrots. Trust. That's a vagina-shaped knot. What? It is. It's a heart shape. It's not a vagina. But you know what? It is sort of a heart shape. But if you knew the page, I remember the page that it was on and it was sort of the kinky bondage page. It's not an evolver. I think it is.
00:26:58
Speaker
I think the metaphor is vulva. Trust your vulva. I'm not trusting mine right now. No, not when you're doing menopause. No, I trust it to be trusted. Okay. It makes communication.
00:27:10
Speaker
The next word of communication seemed funnier. Oh, okay, Jess. Trusted communication with your vulva? Yes, that's what it is. and I have fully fleshed out this idea. I don't know, it was about holding and body and symbolizing. I don't know, shut up, move on. Your vulva's thriving though.
00:27:32
Speaker
others You got a cage. There's an icon. What is that for? we And We end on vulva. That's so great. You certainly got more risque. We started on birds and joy and ended on vulvas. We weren't vulvas until you got involved. So what have we learnt about ourselves? What have we learnt? Don't trust us in a professional setting because clearly we can't do vision books. No, we can. I just didn't actually have a lot of time to go into depth. What I was going to do is write some words and some intentions and
00:28:07
Speaker
make it make a bit more sense to me. Can you write that quickly so I can put it into the section? Yeah, sure. My intention is to not have a knotted vulva. We need to correct the knotted vulva. just have a lot of layers.
00:28:24

In general. In my Why did I think vision boards for fun? Well, firstly, because as we mentioned, both of us use them professionally, but also- Better than that. Better than that, we use them professionally.
00:28:46
Speaker
Yeah. If you're looking to book a workshop, it's definitely going to be better than that. You've you've lost my train of thought. I can talk if you feel like. I'll come back to you and you'll just talk over me. I once did a fabulous vision board workshop with women where I drew some just single line profile.
00:29:07

profile of women's faces and I had a whole heap for them to choose from. And we did a whole embodiment thing and they all got to choose a silhouette. And then I had painstakingly cut out words from magazines, a billion words. And then we all filled in the portrait with the words around whatever it is that we'd identified that we wanted to you know move towards. And I had mine up on my bedside table for about three or four years. Mum was about empowerment and yeah, she was fabulous. I loved her. I had one for, I did one before I met my now husband. They're actually just a good cathartic exercise to sit down, think about and in this book, obviously there's lots of different ways that you can
00:29:56
Speaker
start that practice. But ah they talk about doing the breathing, setting your intention, making sure that you've got all the tools around you to be able to build it so that you're not rummaging around trying to find stuff when thoughts or words or images come to mind. so Absolutely. And I think even though I didn't kind of do mine too well, it was a bit rushed and I did have children stealing scissors off me every five seconds, so it was a little bit irritating. To do it around family values, like we did ah about three years ago, my family and I sat down and did our family values articulated into one vision board together and we had it framed for a while. It's probably time to do
00:30:36
Speaker
sort another one. And then everybody kind of gets input on the values. And if you have it up, then it's a constant reminder of how how we want to treat one another and how we want to live and and what inspires us and what brings us together. and Is that working well for you? And my family? Yeah. No. No, out of failure, but no. I think it's just time to do it again. What's she saying about my family right now? I talk to you every day. So, and I see the memes that you send me.
00:31:11
Speaker
Not families. I think having a teenager and when you're going through perimenopause, it's just fun. Everything's annoying. It's just fun. Oh, really? Fun, is it? Fun. No. No. I said I wanted more fun, and it's not the fun that you're saying now. That was my intention every year. Oh, was to not be paramedopausal and have a teenager?
00:31:33
Speaker
On that note. On that note. All right, so do we have any semi-precious? I think we did one semi-precious ready honeypot scenario. Yeah, the honeypot. I can't think of any of those. We were talking about just generally things that annoy us. Oh, yes. I think that should also be one. Is when you go to the movies and the lights are still on, like they haven't been dimmed.
00:31:56
Speaker
and people walk in with their 300 rustling snacks and start eating before the screen has even turned on or at the beginning of the 25 minute. Who doesn't? Who is going to buy $45 worth of snacks and then consuming them before they've even got the opening credits on? See, I just don't trust people like that. No. If you're one of those people, I'm sorry, I don't trust you. But also, who gets there when the lights are still on and the cinemas? That's also It's too early. That's too early. I wait and the ice cream melts so it has to be meticulously timed.
00:32:29
Speaker
ah Yeah, and that's true. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I can't watch previews. I have to block my ears and close my eyes. So I do look a little bit strange in the cinema if I get there and there's still previews. Oh, can you watch previews? I feel like if they ruin too much and then I'll be bored. And it takes me a lot of emotional energy to sit through a movie and not be bored out of my brain. So if you give away the highlights, I'm not even going to bother showing out. Don't read blurbs on books.
00:32:57
Speaker
Well, I just assume so much apathy for a movie that it needs to entertain me in order to draw drag me into the movie because I won't watch it by virtue of what's probably going to be shared. So you need to watch? I need to watch it to then go, this is this is worth my time. I just need somebody to say you should watch this and then I can really just only blame them if it's crap.
00:33:23
Speaker
okay yeah Seems like mostly just your loved ones are going to recommend them and then you're just going to be spiteful towards those people. Possibly. But I mainly watch movies at home now because then I've got like a swinging chair and I can just swing like a five-year-old. And then sometimes I just get up and leave halfway through. I very rarely sit through an entire film. So I was talking about how other people are annoying, but then I realized I was just talking about Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, come on. Good job. Watch your passcode and she can show you the nights. And also we were telling the girls that they couldn't have their snacks while we were by the fire. They had to wait until the movie started, which is how we got onto the movie topic. And like, well, that doesn't really seem fair. Like, what if our wines were on the kitchen bench and they said, no, sorry, you can't have your wine. You can't sit and watch the fire and drink your wine. You need to wait until we restart it. Wait till you go inside.
00:34:25
Speaker
Would I wait? No. No. I'd say screw you. Give me my line. I'm going to drink my line. All right. So that was riveting. Anyway, the moral of the story is if you're feeling a bit stuck or procrastinating or in a state of confusion, get a rebrand. That's what I'm saying. Get a rebrand. Doing this exercise is a personal rebrand if you want it to be. It is.
00:34:53
Speaker
But honestly, the reason that most people come in to see me is because they're not living in line with the values that they have. And the values are what's important to you and how you want to live. And they help you set your boundaries and help you set your goals and reach your goals. If you're not living in line with those, then you're not setting good boundaries. You're not attaining your goals. But I'm just thinking about some of your pictures.
00:35:40

recently, so you know, there's not a lot of faith and trust in that right now. um But maybe reproductive health is something that you really aspire to. Exactly. Exactly. So that could go down on your vision board. You ruined the whole thing I was doing. Sorry. Trying to help people. Anyway, do your vision board. Don't do it. See if I can.
00:36:09
Speaker
I care. I do care. I really do care to all three of our listeners that are all related to us. I care about you. And I'm happy to do a vision board with you. Let's hold this. Yeah. Anyway. You just reminded me, I think we need to convert more of our Instagram followers to podcast listeners because there's more followers than listeners, so. That doesn't really add up. That is like seeing that we've got another podcast. Yeah, it all depends what you tag and what they're following as to how you come into the arena. I think you come creating them regularly is one way to engage an audience. Listenness and no dig.
