Welcome to the Chick Foley Show. are
00:00:22
Speaker
What is up, Foley fam? We are back with a special episode of the Chick Foley show. First time in a couple of weeks. I'll let Sheena catch you guys up, but we've been absolutely swamped over here, but things are finally starting to calm down at least a little bit for the the next couple of months. We're looking forward to get back into the podcasting mix. Before we go any further, let me introduce the star of the show, Chick Foley

Football Season Highlights and Reflections

00:00:44
Speaker
herself. Sheena, what's going on?
00:00:45
Speaker
Like you said, we're just kind of winding down a little bit. Um, we came off, did we talk about, um, our football season on the last episode? We were just starting to playoffs. Okay. All right, cool. So yeah, we, um, you know, we went through the playoffs, which was crazy because, you know, it's supposed to be spread out over the span of three weeks in five days. Yeah. And in true, uh, you know, just chaotic fashion, uh, we had some rain and they condensed it down to all like in the same week. So we had a playoff game. We had a practice on Monday. We had a playoff game on first round Tuesday, semi-finals Thursday, super bowl on Saturday. Yeah. And, um, we played a ah tough, we can't, you know, we were undefeated for the season. Played a tough team out of Tipton, the Tipton Titans. Another undefeated team. Yeah. The only other undefeated, the only other undefeated team in our, uh, in our league. This was like Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania six. Yeah. And you know, if you, it's, it's crazy. Cause if you just were looking at our team side by side, right? Like, you know, Tipton, they just, they had the size, they had this, the, you know, they were bigger and they looked older. yeah Like they had more kids. Like, yeah, they, uh,
00:01:45
Speaker
They look tough, but our little guys, they' they're a little pack of little line cubs, man. They really were, dude. They came out swinging. They took a 12-0 lead, tipped and came back and ah took the lead from them, which was just two minutes left which was just devastating. Yeah, two minutes left in the game. and Our guys hit an absolutely ... Something you would see in like a a football coming of age film, right? like They just hit this perfect pass play.
00:02:07
Speaker
Um, Anna to get the score. And then we had a minute left and our defense had to go out against that tough Tipton team and and hold them. Yeah. Just freaking stonewalled them. And we got the wind. So the, the Arlington Tigers are your municipal ah football champs for, for six years. So we we feel really excited because we started this journey way back in June, July 5th. Well, yeah, our team together started in July, but you know, Brett camp was June. Football camp was in June. And then, you know, we've been working together since July. And we just had the best the best group of parents and the best ah kids this year. And our organization is really cool. So it's really sad to see it over. But ah you know, when you're starting to build an undefeated season like that, like the pressure just builds a little bit every every game, you know what I mean? So for like, for those last like four or five games before the playoffs, I was just like, God, dude, like, you know, Are we are we going to win? Are we keeping this thing going? And when we finally got to the playoffs as the undefeated team, it just kind of felt like dang, dude.

Transitioning to Basketball and Family Updates

00:03:00
Speaker
Yeah. And that would be, that would eat up enough of your time if you're just a parent supporting your little fellow. But, you know, me and one of our friends, Richard, we're the two head coaches and then Sheena is the team mom. So it just, it really becomes all consuming, especially the, you know, the last little push of the, you know, the finals of the regular season yeah and then the playoffs. Because in conjunction with actually just playing the games, there's also all kinds of indices and festivities and stuff that we had to coordinate. and get set up everything. So it's been a lot of moving parts, but you know, I took off work this week. Um, and we're, we're back in the mix. So looking forward to getting back into, uh, just chilling out a little bit, man. Yeah. We rolled right into basketball season. Brett had his first basketball game the other day, but this is like total rec league basketball. Like could be a bigger change of pace. Yeah, because our league is really competitive. I mean, it is 6U, but I mean, it's a group of kids, you know, for all teams across all the teams. Pretty intense. Yeah. They want to get out there and play with the basketball. It's not like soccer, basketball, or you can tee ball. We can kind of just go out there and like show up and play like football. It takes a lot of work, just getting into the field. Yeah, Brett literally, like, you know, cause we were finishing up the playoffs. He hadn't been to a single practice and showed up to his first game and scored. You know what I mean? So it was, it's cool. We're shifting into basketball. This will be his first season and we're headed to Kentucky next week. So we said we got a busy week ahead of us, but it's all good stuff. I'm sure everybody else is busy as well, but yeah. And we got full gear this weekend and Seth's freaking, you know, entering a new era. He's turning 40 this, uh, this weekend. He's going to be Sunday. Yep.
00:04:30
Speaker
um Yeah, so we've seen you let them know what's new with the fam. let them new Let them know what's new on the farm. Nothing. I mean, nothing crazy is going on. Just kind of like, you know, as usual wrapping up garden stuff, I did order my seed garlic finally. um And so I got to get it put out before it gets too, too cold and you know, starts to freeze off. But other than that, just prepping the garden beds for ah for a long winter snap and um making the go ahead and making the garden plan for next year. And um yeah, that's pretty much it.
00:04:57
Speaker
You don't want to tell them about our guests that we had hanging around for about four or five days. well Yeah. I forgot we had, uh, this past week we had a pet possum that had joined the, had joined the, the farming that we have back there. They were, um,
00:05:10
Speaker
He came, we named him Vinny. He was a little baby guy, which literally came up on the porch. Seen him poking around on the porch a couple of times. Then one night, he literally was on our back window sill, like with the window open, like it was literally just a screen. He sat there for a good 15, 20 minutes just hanging out,

Promotion and Wrestling Community

00:05:24
Speaker
watching us. Yeah. And I kept like, you know, I put like a little pencil up there and you see, I'm going to see if you'd like snap at it or if he was like, you know, gentle and he just.
00:05:30
Speaker
You know breathing drooling like you they and i was we were reading that drooling is a sign of they just kinda do that to like make themselves an appealing to appear and i want to make themselves look sick so yeah for yeah we have possible all over our windowsill but he he moved on we haven't spent about a week now. Since we've seen him in reading about it so like possums kinda hang out there a little bit of nomads. Yeah. You know, it is, it was a little concerning cause possums can kill chickens and they do eat eggs. Uh, he was a little guy, so I don't know how he would fare against, you know, our, our big ladies and, you know, obviously our two roosters, but still I didn't want to, I didn't want to get in there and tangle up with them. So I was well, and he moved on and, you know.
00:06:08
Speaker
Yeah, it was just an interesting little blip. We'll keep an eye out in case he comes back. I want to remind you guys, use code CHICKFOLY to save 10% at Ringside Collectibles. AEW Full Gear Pay-Per-View Discussion

00:06:52
Speaker
Correct. All right. You ready to get into some wrestling chain? Let's go.
00:06:57
Speaker
All right. So this weekend we have a big AEW pay-per-view. We got full gear on the horizon. um What are your, what are your kind of like thoughts? We watched a little, I didn't get to watch much of it, but you watched dynamite last night. What what did you think of the go home show for um full gear? ah Did I, you know, I did a debate with the term vocal tavern your stay also so I'm kind of, you know, pegged out on a W right now. I think they they were kind of in agreement with me man that this is definitely a little bit of an inflection point for a W they've stumbled a little bit creatively the last couple months but there's still, there's still some good stuff there.
00:07:30
Speaker
um But they need to, you know, we need to see it take a turn and and start progressing in the right direction after this, specifically talking about ah John Moxley and the Death Riders, you know, with the AEW takeover. We feel, you know, my thoughts on it. I guess we'll really talk about that because that's the top storyline on the show right now. You know, they come in as just like really kind of dark edge version of the NWO, just violent, you know trying to murder Brian Danielson. They take the AW belt, just stick it in a duffel bag. We haven't even seen it since. They're rolling around in an old beat up Dodge Ram together, just looking tough.
00:08:05
Speaker
um But if it's a true takeover angle, it's just not, it's not, to it's not even taken over the the weekly TV, man. Like we talked, you think about like NWO when they were red hot, you know, the, like the first year of NWO when they were, before they were like the cool heels, when they were really just like bad guys taking shit over, like,
00:08:24
Speaker
Consume the entire weekly broadcast man like every segment at least had the NWO shadow Over it and it just took up all the oxygen out of it and that's what made it seem like such a big deal Whereas this like, you know, they kind of have their segment and then you still see the the comedy Jericho stuff You know everything else still happening basically unaffected by this um Two weeks ago, you know we had it hyped up with social media graphics and everything that John Moxley is going to take over TBS. Dude, I thought we were going to see like Mox and the the Death Riders hitting like the TBS towers and yeeting people off the control panels and stuff like that, but it was literally just an interview to open the show and that was it. Yeah, a little bit underwhelming. um and like you said i mean
00:09:06
Speaker
what's I mean, he's taking on Orange Cassidy, which is, you know, no shade to Orange Cassidy, but it just seems like, you know, if you're if you're trying to take over AEW, like, why are you picking off, like, Orange Cassidy? and Yeah, I mean, I feel like Orange Cassidy's kind of getting a little bit of a disservice here, too, because unless they really are just swerving us, I don't see Mox losing his first title defense, and I feel like OC could be one to take that belt off of him, but he's kind of going to be the first sacrificial lamb. I think we're going to see We're going to see Orange Cassidy get brutalized um on Saturday night.
00:09:38
Speaker
yeah it's ah it's It's just been a little bit awkward. I'm hoping we see some sort of angle, some sort of angle or some sort of big story progression. I hope it doesn't just end with Orange Cassidy getting beat up and left land there. I hope whether it's Shane McMahon showing up or some sort of turn of story to really crank this into the next gear because I love Mox. He's my favorite guy in AEW. But it's it's just kind of weird right now. You know, we saw the elite, they were they were doing a takeover earlier this year, right? Like with Okada and Jungle boy, you know, they beat up Tony Khan Tony Khan showing up to the NFL Draft with a freaking neck brace on and that went nowhere It kind of just fizzled out. They started to ignore it and then John Moxley's crew come shows up saying the same thing So it's just been a little bit weird. I'm still I mean, I'm still forking over my money to watch the show I'm still really excited for it. But
00:10:24
Speaker
Have Mox and the deck Death Riders, have they confronted like Tony at all? as it been like you know I'm a little bit... tony hasn't nearly He hasn't really been on TV yeah really at all since... ah He's had a couple little things. like I think he know he drove Darby back when Darby came back against ah Jack Perry and the Elite. um yeah He was a couple of sightings backstage, but it's it's not he's he's kept a low profile.
00:10:48
Speaker
All right. Well, yeah, I'm in agreement with you. I think there's no way that, uh, Mox is going to lose this match. I don't know where it's going to go or how it's going to end, but, um, like you, I hope it does open feeds into something else. like I hope it just doesn't lot of potential here, man. Yeah. aw they it And the thing is, dude, like.
00:11:04
Speaker
i to What I said on the debate, you know so apologies to folks that are diehard listeners of this and Tabern, you're going to hear the same thing twice. I feel like the big thing is that ah you know the ratings have have kind of been they've been on decline right for the last kind of year, year and three months or so. um And if I think that they're doing a little bit of just week to week booking, right? Like they're following the flavor of the week to try to like chase that number to keep it high. Dude, you already got your new TV deal, man. I say just commit to this and go all in. To me, I think the fact that this has been kind of like one foot in, one foot out with the elite takeover and now with this, is they don't want to get so deep into this to where there's no quick way to kind of backpedal out of it and just, you know, kind of men in black memory stick it away. Yeah, it feels like it's been like that for for so many things with AEW. Let's just jump real quick to MJF and Roderick Strong. We're getting MJF and Roddy on this match, and it's like, well, I mean, where are where's Adam Cole? You know what I mean? like Are we saving Adam Cole for a future? they like What are we doing? you know Because you're you're hedging your bets that he's going to stay healthy and you know not not injured. um Yeah, they just had him do the big... He did the big promo for the big show they're doing in Australia next year too, man. So it's like...
00:12:17
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. And it's like, yeah, you had that whole devil storyline, the whole, all of that. And it never really, and smoke it went up in smoke, dude. And the again, these are things that like people get invested in. They have so much potential. And then it's just like, you get they can't finish the story, dude. They do not know how to finish the story. Yeah, it all it always ends up fizzling out, it seems like. Like, dude, think about the bloodline, right? there Obviously, you have a ton of tremendously talented folks involved with that storyline, but the way it's been presented, they have been the biggest deal on SmackDown, going back to the middle of 2020 at this point. Like, they typically are opening the show, you're gonna see them in, you know, anywhere from two to four backstage segments through the night, and then they usually end up showing up, you know, have some sort of involvement in the main event, man. like
00:12:59
Speaker
they have been presented like consistently as the most important thing happening in WWE, right? Everything that happens in WWE runs through the bloodline. And that's what's something that's really helped to make them seem so important when they show up. And there's just you know there's just never been that kind of consistency from AEW.
00:13:16
Speaker
Yeah, it's almost just like, I mean, they and they're just quick to abandon ship, it seems like. And then they'll just like, they'll keep things loosely tied together. Like, yeah, we have this loose, loose connection between MJF and Roderick Strong now. You know what I mean? And it's like, it could have been something so much better and so much more, you know? Um, any other thoughts on the MJF Roderick Strong match?
00:13:36
Speaker
Um, ah you know, I I feel like its It should be a great match, right? Roger strong is a tremendous wrestler like as far when the bell rings He's one of the the best I think this match is gonna suffer a little bit from we know that nothing important is gonna happen There's the finish isn't gonna come, close you know, not gonna happen until Adam Cole shows up So I thought he's gonna be waiting for for him to appear Yep, I agree. um Let's move on to one of the other big matches of the night. We got JY versus Hangman Adam Page. This should be a banger. Yeah, Switchblade versus the Hangman. um Got a very good chance to end up being in the straight up match of the night as far as injury reaction goes. so I think it's interesting because you know you got Switchblade just coming back from injury. He feels like he can't lose. But then you got Hangman, dude. He ended the last pay-per-view, man, like going out on top, beating the hell out of Swerve.
00:14:25
Speaker
um I wonder if, you know I just wonder where he goes for it, because it feels like he can't take a loss. you know It feels like neither one of these guys can lose. So yeah my gut tells me Hangman finds a way to get the win here.
00:14:39
Speaker
ah Yeah, yeah, I keep going back and forth. I don't know if

Wrestling Storylines and Predictions

00:14:44
Speaker
I was like doing fully pix league I would I would probably go with hangman, but I mean I would not be surprised if if ah switch play just saw Like I said, it was it was two paper views ago man He ended the show looking like the baddest dude in a w so as much as I love switchblade. I just don't feel like he's been presented to the level to where, you know, he should be taking out hangman on here, but he's got, you know, he's got the whole bang, bang gang with him. So he's got help that they could, they could give him the assist on this one, but I'm leading hangman for sure.
00:15:12
Speaker
Yeah. And I'm hopeful. i mean I mean, hangman's one of my faves. So I'm hoping that hangman pulls it off too. Um, let's talk about swerve versus lashley. This is going to be this Brett. I don't, I don don't know what Brett, his head's going to explode. He likes, he likes both. He's not as into lashley as he once was. He used to be all about Bobby lashley.
00:15:31
Speaker
But maybe the nostalgia will come back, dude. Bobby was kind of off TV for a long time, so he kind of lost interest. you know I think it's going to be a good night for for Bobby Lashley, man. I do. I don't see any way they're bringing him in and losing his first pay-per-view match. He's going to have Shelton and and MVP rolling with him. So I think he's got a lot of stuff going in his favor. what What do you think of them just basically running back the hurt business as the hurt syndicate in AEW? I don't hate it. i think i mean I thought the hurt business was mage in WWE. so I feel like there's some revisionist history, dude. I hate to be a negative Nellie, dude. people People walk around online. They talk about the hurt business. Like it was like the 97 Heart Foundation, dude. I feel like it was something it was it was cool for it was cool for a couple of months on on raw, dude. I think during that time, you know, that late 2020, I think we were just wanting to grasp onto any sort of, you know, entertainment lifeline we could get. Cause it had been the first half of 2020 had been so just piss poor for wrestling and, you know, really just life in general.
00:16:27
Speaker
ah I don't know, man. I feel like there's some serious revisionist history on how good the herd business really was. I don't think it's necessarily revisionist history. I haven't seen that. I haven't seen people like putting it over, like you said, like the 97 Heart Foundation. But I mean, MVP was just absolutely excellent when it came to the herd business, dude. They were cool. I thought, yeah, he did such a good job putting them over, making them look like a million bucks, dude. like I mean, if you saw those guys lined up, you were just like, damn, they're here to freaking kick some ass and do some business, dude.
00:16:53
Speaker
um Do you think they're going to add anyone to the to the hurt syndicate? Do you think we're done you think it's like rounded out? There's got to be at least one person getting an attitude, to it man. there's ah cause you know they They didn't hand out all those business cards for nothing, right? Yeah. I'm thinking maybe Ricochet, dude. I think i feel like Ricochet is really in a bad spot. He already had the big match with Will Ospreay. Maybe I'm just being too hard on the guy. I feel like he's back in the exact same spot that he was in in WWE, right? Like mid card guy who can go out and do some really, really cool moves, but isn't really involved in anything of substance.
00:17:27
Speaker
Well, and let's, let's be clear. There's nothing wrong with that position, but I feel like Ricochet took this, because took this new opportunity as an opportunity to like be the, the, you know, yeah, top of the car there's nothing wrong with it. But if you're going to be in that position, wouldn't you rather be in WWE? Right? Exactly. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I mean, you know, who who knows? I don't know what. yeah I'm sure he's getting more money now, which is nice, but maybe working less. Yeah. but he And he also, you know, at least directly or indirectly influenced his, uh,
00:17:57
Speaker
his old lady to leave her job also. So now he's got that weight on him as well. Well, I don't know. I don't know if he, I mean, hit well, I mean, obviously- You don't think him leaving had anything to do. yeah If he stays with WWE, does Samantha Irvin still leave? yeah Well, no. I think, I think it does definitely expedited the situation. I don't think she left strictly because Ricochet left. I think she already, I mean, I know she already had other things that she was trying to pursue. And then yes, his, his exodus from the company definitely expedited like her getting out of there and just being like, okay, cool. Like I can let go of this branch.
00:18:27
Speaker
Um. But yeah, I wouldn't be mad at Ricochet being in the hurt syndicate. I think it would work. I think we need to see he'll ricochet. And dude, the cool thing is you could let an MVP do all the talking, man. We know one hundred percent MVP, e Ricochet, the mic skills just aren't there, man. They aren't. And at this point, you know he's been in the game for over a decade. I don't think, yeah maybe you can see some some mild improvement. I don't think he's suddenly going to turn into you know the The Rock at 15 years into his wrestling career. But I think him just says,
00:18:58
Speaker
Keep doing the cool flippy moves, but also add some mean, you know, a mean edge to it. he's You got some really good strikes. so I think I think you could pull off being a heel. um And we're overloaded with baby faces that can fly around like that in AW. So it's not like he's going to be the only guy with the cool moves that also happens to be the heel. Sean Michaels suffered from that in late 94, early 95 when he was really getting over as a heel. But the fans couldn't help but root for him because of the move set. So yeah, I think if I had to put somebody in that group, I'd go ricochet. Yeah. Speaking of baby faces that can fly around and do the flippy moves, let's go on to the Osprey and Kyle Fletcher.
00:19:34
Speaker
match. This is just the the Dave Meltzer invitational, dude. This is just going to be his absolute platonic idea of what wrestling should be, man. I think it's going to get like nine stars. um um Osprey is pretty, pretty giving as far as like putting folks over and stuff. So I wouldn't be surprised to see him put over his good buddy here, you know, just turn heel, shave that beautiful beautiful blonde locks, but it's Osprey, you know, he can win any time. So I think it's probably between this and hang man and switch blade for what's going to be match of the night. I think they're going to be two totally different matches, which is the great thing you get with AW. It really is like a smorgasbord of, uh, of wrestling. Um, but I'll probably go Osprey if I had to pick.
00:20:15
Speaker
Yeah, i would I would put my money. You don't want Osprey taking too many high profile losses. Yeah, I'll put my money on Osprey. I would not be surprised to see Kyle Fletcher get this one. Do you want to go speed around through the rest of these and just pick who we're... We'll go who we're rooting for and not who we're... Okay. I'm going for the Costco guys, man. Big boom, AJ, to take out QT Marshall. Yeah, big boom. This is this is legit been ah way more... if you get on Just get on YouTube and just search like AJ.
00:20:40
Speaker
ah it's Search Costco guys versus QT Marshall. like the They've been putting some serious effort in online and on social media to get this little pre-show feud over, man. there's There's some funny stuff out there. I'm talking like diss tracks, like all kinds of social media clips. You've got to respect the hustle. Yeah, and we're going to have the Rizzler coming in as the guest timekeeper, which is, yeah, that that you know this is probably going to end up getting more attention than anything else on the show tonight, strangely, for all the yeah all the people that are into going viral. MJF and Roderick Strong, I'm going for Roddy.
00:21:11
Speaker
Uh, Roddy. Yeah. Um, J. White versus Hangman. I'm going for Hangman. Of course. Hangman all the way. Uh, we got a four-way tag team match. Uh, we got Private Party, the Outrunners, Kings of Black, Kings of the Black Throne. I don't know. Why are they not just, this has puzzled me for two years since they've been doing this. Why are they not just House of Black? Do you remember when I told you those, they were Kings of the Black Throne and you told, you like, you're like, no, that's not what they're called. I was like, yes, it is. That's how little sense it was. I was confident that Sheena just got her wires crossed and was like thinking of something from Game of Thrones or something. Cause I'm like, no, their house, like, why would you, if you're a trio, I've never seen a trio that then, when they have a different name, when they go down to a tag team. Yeah. It's, it doesn't, it doesn't make sense, but I knew I was like, dude, I know I didn't just make that up. um And then they we got the acclaim. I'm rooting for the, the kings of the house of the black throne to to win this one. Yeah. I'm a house of the black throne as well, but I i think private party will probably win, but I'm rooting for black throne.
00:22:08
Speaker
ah Mercedes Monet versus Chris Statlander. Stat. Definitely rooting for Stat. Swerve versus Bobby. Rooting for Swerve. Rooting for Swerve. I feel like he has negative chance on this. Yeah, agreed. ah We got Jungle Jack Perry versus Daniel Garcia. Scapegoat. Yeah, scapegoat.
00:22:27
Speaker
And will Osprey versus Kyle Fletcher? Osprey. Going for Osprey. You already know the last match. Yeah. And then Mox versus Orange. Definitely got Mox in the bag. Mox, dude. The best wrestler in AEW. I don't care what they say about Osprey or Meg, anybody. Mox is still the man. ah Real quick, WWE check in before ah we move on to figure stuff. What are your thoughts on the absolute butchering they've done on this war games match. you know we We spent the last eight months building to Solo and his crew against Roman, Sammy, and the Usos. And now at the 11th hour, they're adding, it's not confirmed yet, but all the tea leaves, if you've been watching wrestling for any amount of time, you can see it coming from here. They're going to add Bronson to to Solo's team and add Seth Rollins to Roman's team just to make it a 5v5. We talked about this on the

WWE Storyline Critiques and Speculations

00:23:16

Tavern also. To me,

I feel like there's got to be something that somewhere that whether it was with like 2k for something they're doing with air marketing or with Mattel for some upcoming play set that they were like contractually obligated to present a five versus five match dude. Like there's no other way. There's no other explanation. nonensical Why you would see guys to we not get ah Bronson and Seth and some you know something else? Yeah, I do not get it. And it's really puzzling because like the one thing you could definitely say about Triple H is he took over. Everything has made sense, man. We've had so... I mean, if if I rack my brain, there's probably been... Maybe you find something here or there that was just like nonsense you know just nonsense, but
00:23:58
Speaker
this makes zero sense you have this perfect four on four match here and dude we love Seth we we like Bronson man but there's no reason whatsoever to muddy this picture up because now the story the last few weeks hasn't even been about this blood feud finally coming to a ah head with these guys like you managed to actually organically build a ah war games match, right? It's not like 2022 where you- Brand supremacy? Yeah, no, what that wasn't brand supremacy. The first war games on the main roster was the bloodline against the brawling brutes and Drew McIntyre, which made no sense. And then last year it was just like, you know, the baby face Avengers going against the Judgment Day, which was just, you know, you had to just hurry up. Like we actually have an organic need to do war games this time. um And yeah, it's it's like,
00:24:44
Speaker
Something that there's something that like forced them to say like do we have time to get it out of there? You think it's like it's uh, it's done deal I mean, it seems like I mean solo celebrate with Bronson Reed like And they've been talking like like the announcers have said like both teams got to find a fifth person Like it's in like the official WWE rules that you got to be 5v5 or something So it feels like something from like the Vince era, right? like Vince would do so many like just arbitrary things where like you had to He just had some in his mind and they were going to make the product fit it no matter what. I don't know, man. I would love to... I'd love to... If I could ask Triple H one thing right now, that's probably what I'd ask him. Why are we doing 5v5 when you get this perfect 4v4? And if they're going to do 5v5, dude, find a way to get the rock in there. Do you have Cody? You know what I mean? Yeah, exactly. Cody and the Rock. Cody and the Rock were the only things that made sense for 5v5.
00:25:36
Speaker
I don't know, man. It's weird. I mean, even Seth has a reach, but Bronson dude, like that's just like, Hey, you're Samoan. He's Simone. and He's got that. I mean, he looks the part. He's got that. But but yeah, it's like he's had no involvement with this whatsoever. And this feels like something that's been building up for for two years now. And I feel like Seth's going to lose a little bit of steam because Seth has been adamant on, you know, Sammy and the Usos have been trying to recruit him. For those that haven't been watching the the weekly TV religiously, Sammy and the Usos have been trying to recruit Seth. And he's been like adamant, like, no, i'm not I'll never team with Roman Reigns, which in wrestling means like they're probably going to be teamed up yeah two weeks later. so
00:26:12
Speaker
I don't know, man. I really, I know we we probably leaned a little bit negative on discussing some of the the stuff going on creatively with AW right now. So we got to balance it out and just.
00:26:23
Speaker
that I just feel like they've really, they fumbled at the goal line, right? They ran this bloodline storyline down to the two yard line. And you have it perfect, dude. You have four bloodline 2.0, four, but and dude, getting Sammy back was like the, you know, the shift's kiss, dude. It was just like, this is gonna be so perfect, dude, and then. Yeah, and now the storyline's not even about them feuding, it's just who's gonna be the the fifth person. Yeah. what do you ah What do you think of this Roman Reigns calling Paul Heyman and his number being disconnected? What do you think? I don't know, dude.
00:26:53
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know if if if they're getting like, you know was Paul Madden, is Paul like you know freaking sandbagged in a river somewhere? like what Where is Paul Heyman and what's what's the deal? you know It's got to be something big because you saw they presented it. like It was like the end scene of a Marvel movie, like a post credit scene or something. yeah I don't know. i think you know It would be cool if it came out that you know wouldn't the that the rock has got Paul Heyman under his spell right now. I could see that. always be what You always think about Brock, right? Anytime Paul and Roman are involved, your mind automatically goes to Brock. It could be a way to bring Brock back. I was not even thinking about Brock. That didn't even cross my mind. Maybe Brock called and checked on Paul Heyman because it seems like Roman. It seemed like that was the first time he's called him. So like you know right that would mean that would indicate, from what we've seen, that Roman never even checked on Paul Heyman after
00:27:43
Speaker
Yeah after the you know the the goons took him out yeah. Interesting yeah i i'm really curious to see where it goes because i mean. Paul Heyman, I mean, he's going to, he's going to elevate whoever he's with. I don't know how he would fit with the rock though. I feel like he's, him and the rock would just be a little bit too much together, right? No, they can make it

AEW Promotion and Collectibles Review

00:28:05
Speaker
work. I mean, yeah, they're both talkers, but I mean, Paul Heyman talked a but a lot less once he got with Roman also, you know what I mean? I think it'd be simple. All he'd have to do is just kind of stand there and gawk at the rock a little bit.
00:28:16
Speaker
um but to bounce back to AW, what did you think of the, you know, Tony, it made it a little bit cringe because he made such a big deal out of it when he got it, but it turned out being pretty cool that they paid to get the licensing for November reign to make the ah hype up video for full gear. It was epic. I thought it was so good. I mean, I've been kind of, you know, like out on, we've been busy Wednesday nights have been dedicated to football. So yes, game night.
00:28:39
Speaker
Um, so i've been missing a lot of aw here recently and dude I feel like I was like all the way caught up like I watched that november rain Music video and I was I was ready to go. I was ready for full gear. Did I want I was pumped up and november rain is just such an absolute classic So good Yeah, I really want them to start doing this for every pay-per-view from now on, man. That would be something I anticipate. What song are they picking for this one and watching it? Because yeah, you at least got the broad strokes of every single story going into this pay-per-view. Obviously, it focused a lot on OC and Mox, but everybody else got a little bit of time on there too, man. Really, really well done. And dude, shout out to Tony Khan. I fancy myself as the wrestling historian. He stumped me. I didn't realize until I got on Squared Circle on Reddit and was reading around that this was actually an homage to something that Paul Heyman to bring him up again. Them and ECW did back in 95 as a hype up video for ECW November to Remember that year. So really, really cool stuff. And like I said, you're never going to get mad when you hear a November rain coming on. One of the best rock songs ever. For sure. It was awesome. All right. You ready to talk figures? Oh, yeah.
00:30:16
Speaker
It's time for the figure four. I want to remind you that this segment and the entire show is brought to you by Ringside Collectibles. Use code Chick Foley to save 10% on all your purchases there. We'll start off with a quick review. ah We got the two newest AEW Ringside exclusives in today. Kenosuke Takeshita and... I think it's the first time I've nailed first name and last name with him. And the timeless Tony Storm figure. Which one do you want to start with, Shane?
00:30:43
Speaker
Let's start with Takeshita. I actually really like this soft goods robe. I think they did a really good job on the hoodie and everything. It fits well. The feel is really great too. A lot of the soft goods feel super lightweight and chintzy to use one of Sheena's favorite words. If you remember that Supreme Sting that came out earlier this year, this feels similar to that. It's got a weight to it and got a texture. It doesn't just feel like the cheapest material you've ever find. It's not that fake vinyl material. It's like actual like pleather on this thing, man. Really, really cool. Yeah. And they did two layers. Like it's like lined, you know what I mean? Like it's got like the little lining and stuff. They even got the detailing of the, you know, I'll say beauty mark. I don't want to call it a giant mole. Holy moly. Holy moly on his nose. Yeah. First I thought it was a scuff, man. I hadn't really paid a ton of attention to this one before.
00:31:35
Speaker
Uh, before we got here, you know, cause it's Takesh to figure he's kind of just like, you know, he's bad ass, but he's kind of just like rest. He doesn't got like a super memorable look. And then it came out of boxes like, dude, he's got a scuff on his nose. And then I started looking at the picture like, Oh no, Takesh has actually got like a little, uh, you know, little birthmark. Yeah.
00:31:51
Speaker
ah But yeah, black, white, silver, red trunks, or not trunks, but like the little ah hot boy pants, whatever you wanna call them. Yeah, if somebody knows, man, drop it in the the comments on the show post, what event this was from. I was looking, it's not for many of his big one-on-one,
00:32:06
Speaker
pay per view matches. So it may have just been from a random dynamite or you know, he was in a lot of six man before he started getting his one on one matches on pay per view. But I'm really happy with it. It's much better. You know, he's in the most recent I can't remember either unrivaled or unmatched line is one of the chase figures. This is the far superior figure that first one. It was just it was all black didn't come with any of the entrance gear or anything. But yeah, this is it's a must have if you're a w fan.
00:32:30
Speaker
And the box looks really cool if you're an MOC collector. The box is super duper cool. It looks like a Japanese like movie poster. kind of like It's got a ah really nice finish on it. AEW jazzwares always crushes it on the exclusive boxes. Speaking of exclusive boxes, we've got this AEW Tony storm thomas sony Storm. The box is absolutely incredible. It's got the Hollywood Hills and it's got the AEW instead of the Hollywood sign.
00:32:54
Speaker
Um, got the old like, you know, movie font, the timeless Tony storm on the front with a picture of her and all black and white with her red lips. The figure is awesome. so Like it just is such a cool, unique, um, you know, homage to, uh, to this whole, you know, in her entrance and everything.
00:33:12
Speaker
The, whatever you want to call this, the entrance dress, if you will. Smock. Smock is, it's like black lace, super frilly. All kinds of like frilly flourishes and stuff on it. And it's got, the other thing about soft goods, man, I'm really happy with these. You know, everybody shits on jazzwares because they're soft goods stain. I didn't have any staining with these, but there's like some elastic built into it to kind of help it like fit in the right places and kind of keep its shape a little bit. Because sometimes,
00:33:39
Speaker
Like if you got like the latest Million Dollar Man Ultimate Edition, I already know like that suit is never gonna go back on it the same way that it went, you know, when it came out of the box, yeah. But yeah, this is a really cool figure. I remember, I can't remember when we were talking about this, but we were talking about... We we fantasy booked this we fantasy booked this before it came out. And then when it actually, like it it delivered and in every way. I think it looks really, really great. Selfishly, i my OCD like figure brain, I feel like we have to have this exact figure in the actual like yeah color flesh and blood look to go along with it. You know what I mean? Maybe if you wanted to.
00:34:12
Speaker
um you could drop it just without the entrance gear, right, just make one of the mainline figures. so So definitely need that. But but either way, yeah, really, really cool. I'm all about, you know, something unique, something to experiment. This is going to stand out on any figure shelf, this black and white figure with the bright red lipsticks comes with the shoe accessory. I thought that was really fun. You know, that's a that's a first, as far as I can remember, a wrestler come with a high heel for a weapon.
00:34:34
Speaker
um And that's cool because you can use that for a lot. you know High heels have been used by a lot of female valets, managers, escorts over the years as a weapon. So that's that you got a little bit of versatility ah with that one for your figtography.
00:34:47
Speaker
Alright, what are you gonna talk about next? We had ringside fest. Yeah, let's get into ringside fest. um we'll We'll keep it brief. Obviously, you know, I want to encourage you guys to actually go to ringside's YouTube page and check it out because not only will you get to see the figures, but you can kind of hear um action figure attack and and sweaty bill um actually, you know, go through the thought process on why some of these decisions are made and some of the unique little touches that they've added to these figures.
00:35:11
Speaker
um Let's go to the ultimate editions. We saw a finished product of ah the updated fin, updated solo, and Bray Wyatt from the the pitch black match match. Yeah, the Mountain Dew pitch black match. We did get confirmation that that paint is treated for the blacklight effect. So if you got a blacklight, that Bray Wyatt is going to glow. um It's damn near like two figures in one. you know You get him with all the the glow paint and stuff that he had on. When he came out for his entrance, then you get the plain arms with with the face. And then you also have that mask that he put on towards the end of the mask. So really, really cool figure. um We got Solo. with He's going to come with a hoodie. And it's the first ah you know Elite or Ultimate Edition we've gotten with Solo in the boots. you know The ones we got so far. Barefoot. ben Barefoot. Obviously Solo is having an absolutely gigantic year this year. um So really excited to get Ultimate Solo. What's your thoughts on that one, Shane? I think it looks great. I i like Solo with the boots on. I think he looks you know like more badass. And then we're getting two Finns. So the mainline Finn's going to be in white. the The Chase is going to be in black. These look great. Finn Balor's a guy that, you know, he's one of Bill's favorite wrestlers, and you could tell because they knock every Finn out of the park. It seems to come with a soft goods jacket. Is that a bandana up there? Yep. It's got the ben like the ah bandana around the face. Finn's always looks super cool. like He's one of the coolest wrestlers. He's got a really neat Judgment Day shirt.
00:36:30
Speaker
three different head sculpts. I think the black one I don't know if there's a lot of meat on the bone if you've gotten the last few judgment day Finn ballers for the black one unless you're just an ultimate addition completeness but that white one is really really cool and I'm looking forward to adding that on the shelf. One thing they mentioned there's two sets of arms with this fin you know usually when we're getting the guys just that they got the ring gear or like the sockets jackets when we get one set of arms, we're getting two sets of arms one with the sleeves,
00:36:56
Speaker
The other ones are going to be, you know, Finn's gotten a he's got a little bit of a tattoo fetish going over the last year. So he's got a bunch of new tattoos on his arms and this is going to be the first figure um debuting them. So you're going to have you're going to have sleeved arms and bare arms showing off all his new tattoos. so That's cool.
00:37:12
Speaker
um We'll go to the next Ultimate Edition set after that. We're going to get another Jay, another Jimmy. These look great. We're getting the yeet glasses. you know the brand the brand new The last round of the the top picks and the new Elite Jay didn't come with the glasses. you know i'm kind of I'm rolling my eyes a little bit at Mattel. I feel like they knew that the glasses were a real must-have accessory.
00:37:32
Speaker
um And now you got to get the ultimate, right? Yeah. Because you got to have the yeet glasses, dude. Yeah. It's called the figure business, not the figure friendship. We're getting a Jimmy, which it looks fine. I got to see what additional accessories they pack in with this because I feel like I have five other Jimmys just like this, you know, with the long red pants. Yeah. So not super stoked. I am super stoked though ah about Drew. So this is Drew from WrestleMania this past year when he won the belt from Seth.
00:37:56
Speaker
Yeah, he's got the little arm that like the shredder style arm gauntlets. He's also going to come with a soft good skirt. The Drew McIntyre's. Yeah, Kilt, my bad. Sorry, I'm going to get a Claymore out of nowhere here in a second. But, you know, Drew is long overdue, man. It's kind of crazy that he hasn't got an ultimate addition to this point, but this one's really neat. I think this is going to be the best Drew McIntyre figure. I love the plaid knee pads. Yeah. He's got the head, the excited head sculpt from when he was talking trash to see him punk afterwards. Also, you know, right before he got cashed in.
00:38:23
Speaker
Really, really neat figure. We need Drew with a cell phone accessory from that match when he was texting mid-match. That was that match. That's what ass I'm saying, he needs a cell phone accessory. Yeah, they got cell phone accessories out there that you can hook them up with. um We'll go to Hornswoggle getting another figure. He's back on a Legends deal. So the old Elite Six Hornswoggle is getting re-released as part of the vault line. um We don't need to go through all the vault features because these are re-releases, but I will give Mattel and I know they're working with Ringside on these as well. Pretty much all of this latest round of vault releases has some significant improvements to add some meat on the bone. They aren't just straight re-releases, which is really cool because I still get a little bit aggravated by all the re-releases. Not that
00:39:06
Speaker
Not because I want my figures to be worth more. It's just because I wanted them spending time on new figures. Yeah, that's the thing. But they've been adamant that these aren't taken away from. They have extra staff and stuff working these. These aren't taken away from. From new development. Yeah, so it's not one pot, right? This is really cool. We're getting an ECW Paul Hammon with a trench coat. I love this. This is a long, long overview figure. I love this so much. Such an iconic look. Yeah, it looks awesome. Got the ponytail on the back. Yeah, that's going to be a cool figure. He's got the press pass around the neck, like really, really neat. We're going to get Kurt Angle from when he got his head shaved. So we're getting a lot of unique pieces to this. So there's going to be... We're getting wrestling head gear. Yeah, because after he got his head shaved, he came out with a wig, but it was a wrestling gear with a wig built in. He's going to have some shaving cream to go on top of his head. Really, really neat.
00:39:55
Speaker
see what else. Oh, yeah, that was really it for the highlights. They saw we saw a bunch of um early early models of you know, the first the Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, stuff like that. We're gonna get a solo in a suit.

Listener Mail and Closing Remarks

00:40:09
Speaker
It was really neat. But all in all, it was pretty good set of reveals. Like I said, we just want to touch on it real quick. Really, really want to encourage you guys to go and check out that ringside fest video on ringsides YouTube. Shane, do we got listener mail? Oh, yeah.
00:40:31
Speaker
All right, our first question comes in from Kevin Eugene. He says, what's your prediction for how many Jesse Ventura's we see on this Legends deal? So I think it's a lock that we're going to get a remake of the, uh, or not a remake, but a, an homage to the LJN in the Coliseum collection line. Like that's like stone cold lead pipe block, man. You could go and book that. And then I think we'll probably get, uh, I'm thinking of probably gonna live in the legends line, man. I don't see him being a mainline elite. I think we're going to get probably at least one wrestler and then one commentator, Jesse. Um,
00:41:04
Speaker
depending on how long this deal is, I could see us possibly getting referee Jesse from SummerSlam 99 as like a build a figure for a SummerSlam set one of these years coming up. um Phil Dunnett, who on earth are big boom and big justice? Are they just letting fans wrestle now? So obviously he's not a he's not a fan of the of the Costco kids. yeah yeah Check out the Rizzler, dude. It's impossible to look up the Rizzler and not be entertained, dude. I'm telling you guys, it's got this has got VLC show stealing potential.
00:41:34
Speaker
We'll see. Dougie Nunez, I got a question for you. that So swap city, Bish. Trade three AEW people for three WWE w e people. All must be top or mid-card talent and relevant on current TV. Who you swapping? I want to see Kenny Omega go to WWE. Okay. I want to see that Hangman go to WWE and Let me send some back. I'm going to send Sandpunk back to AW because I still don't... I've reluctantly been entertained by him over the past year, but I still don't need to see him at all on my screen on WWE. So send him back to AW. You can send Cody's punk ass back to AW also. Oh my God. We'll go to you. I'll leave one for you. No way, dude. No way.
00:42:22
Speaker
Um, I would send, I would send C and punk back to, uh, to WWE. Just one. I did. I did too. Oh, okay. So we got Cody, we already got Cody and punk going back to AWW and we got hang man and Kenny coming over. Oh man. I think I would send will Osprey to WWE. Okay. Um, and then I would send, I don't know who would send to AWW. Brock to AWW would be fun.
00:42:49
Speaker
Brock. Yeah, I think we're kind of breaking the parameters on Dougie Sting by saying they gotta be relevant on TV. Brock's always relevant, I think. Brock and A.W. would be neat. It would be neat. He would just stand out so much, dude. I thought he would just- I don't know, that's why it would be awesome. Yeah, he would just go in there and freaking clean house.
00:43:05
Speaker
um Last question. Oh, no, no. Zach Herschel's had a couple of ah food questions. Anything on the menu for full gear? So we're going to do wings. It says, like I said, it says 40th birthday on Sunday. forty So we're having cethelmania 40 and we're going to do wings for full gear. So we're kind of just all like hunkering down. We got we had a full day Saturday, but then we're going to come back on Saturday night and you know fire up the wings and then have a chill day on on Sunday. um So that's you know my world-class wings or what's on the menu for full gear. Zach also says,
00:43:37
Speaker
What's your favorite Thanksgiving leftovers to eat?
00:43:43
Speaker
Probably, if I had to pick one, probably a ham, dude. Leftover ham's usually pretty good. Leftover ham hits, because you can you can eat it pretty much cold and it's still it's still delicious. I would say my favorite leftovers I mean, I like all the sides, dude. Just make me a big plate of sides and warm them up. um I love me up a post Thanksgiving Sammy, you know what I mean? Just like. Mix everything together. Yeah, just mix everything together into like a big, you know, big pile and some bread. I figured we were gonna get some questions on Thanksgiving, because we always tend to get some culinary questions in there. So I got a quick Thanksgiving this or that for you to close out the show, Sheen. All right. All right, turkey or ham? Ham. Sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes? Sweet potatoes. Cranberry sauce or gravy?
00:44:25
Speaker
Oh, that's tough, dude.
00:44:30
Speaker
yeah Got to go cranberry sauce. You got to cut. No way, bro. You got to cut. The gravy is the most important part of the thing. The gravy is what ties the entire meal together. It ties the meal together. It's the theme of the essence of the meal. Also, Thanksgiving food, all of it has a very similar Taste profile right like you have a lot of sage and a lot of time and a lot of all of these like you know where you get the gravy ah I know but you need something like tangy like cranberry sauce to slice through all that and add a brightness to the meal you could totally have a satisfying Thanksgiving plate without cranberry sauce that's that's a
00:45:06
Speaker
Totally, dude. Your plate is dropping off a lot. You take it a lot off the table. You take the gravy out there. I love cranberry sauce. I mean, I agree with you, dude. If there was no gravy at Thanksgiving, I would be a sad sack, dude. I feel like I would. Would you be a sad sack with no cranberry sauce, though? I would, because it's the one time of year that I eat cranberry sauce, dude. Fair enough. Tina says cranberry sauce over gravy. Cornbread or dinner rolls? Dinner rolls.
00:45:34
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. I i like corn bread i like savory cornbread. I hate the sweet cornbread. I like feel like like the last 15, 20 years, I feel like the trend has been like really, really sweet cornbread. Almost like dessert. I like cornbread, but I like rolls for Thanksgiving. I like cornbread for other other type meals. All right, pumpkin pie or pecan pie? Ooh, pecan pie. Dressing or stuffing? um Dressing. Does anybody really make stuffing anymore? I feel like that's just completely falling out of fashion. Yeah, I don't think it's a thing. If you went to somebody's house, they said, yeah, this is like true stuffing.
00:46:04
Speaker
people would be a little bit skeeved out. yeah I would still eat it. I would probably still eat it, but um yeah, i I haven't seen anybody do stuffing in years. and Would you rather help cook dinner or help wash dishes? Dinner. Cook dinner, dude. That's way more fun. You get the anticipation, you get some snacks. Yeah. All right, so yeah, definitely let us know what Sheena got wrong on that one. I think you know the gravy one stands out pretty big. i just You can't do it. Shane, hit us with some closing thoughts and and we'll get out of here. As a little bonus, we do got November rain for the outro this week. That was a request by Sheena after we watched that video. She said we need to put it on the pod.
00:46:35
Speaker
Confession, we did not pay for it, so you know. Yeah, we'll see how long it stays out. It may it may be yeah and maybe be replaced by the traditional outro here in a couple days, we'll see. Yeah, I hope you all enjoy full gear and if I don't talk to you before then, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone. Eat lots of food and save lots of leftovers.
00:50:23
Speaker
Keep an open heart
