Happy New Year! 2025 is HERE.

SIKE

We have reflection work to do first!

Grab a notebook for this special edition episode in which Kailee and Jacob walk you through an impactful 40 minutes of reflection. 2024 may be over, but we still need to think back upon it so that we can understand where we are heading into 2025 and what we can build upon/grow from from the last year.

This episode will have 6 keep areas for you to reflect/write your own items for:

2) Challenges you overcame in 2024

3) Habits that served you well + habits you can leave behind in 2024

4) Physical health - how did you stay active/what brought you joy?

5) What gave you peace in 2024?

6) What relationships enriched your life?

As Kailee and Jacob walk through these questions, they will also share their own answers. Hope you enjoy the episode!

Introduction and Holiday Break

00:00:34
Jacob Oak
What up? We're back. Episode 22. Took a little hiatus last week because of the holidays, and our Wednesday fell on Christmas, so we figured we'd give ourselves and all of you a little listening and recording break. Yeah, so we fell off of our original goal of don't miss a single week for 100 episodes. Oh well, we're back. They're like the holidays. They don't count. They don't count.
00:01:03
Jacob Oak
Nobody knows what's going on right now. We're kind of in that weird in between. And this episode will come out on New Year's Day. So technically, this is going to be our first episode, 2025.

Listenership and Audience Engagement

00:01:15
Jacob Oak
Wow. So we did 21 episodes in 2024. Cool. I like that. We made it into new calendar year. Yeah. 2025. I mean, I was, we were looking through the episodes. I thought to myself,
00:01:28
Jacob Oak
We made it farther than most people do with the pod. And, you know, honestly, listenership is kind of dipped a little bit, but we're still getting consistent, like 20 people that care enough to listen every week. And then

Podcast Voice and Topic Suggestions

00:01:40
Jacob Oak
the guests bring on more usually. So yeah, ah I feel like people, I mean, I do this too, with the people that I was like the podcast I listened to, as you kind of fall behind for some weeks and then they slowly start to increase as time goes on. Right.
00:01:56
Jacob Oak
continuing to happen. Yeah. And I mean, we're still figuring out our voice and like what exactly we're trying to do with this podcast, you know, yeah which we talked about a little bit, but if there's listeners out there that are enjoying specific things we're talking about, feel free to let us know and you can text us or stop Kaylee at the gym or whatever. If there's things

Joking About Love Life

00:02:20
Jacob Oak
we're not talking about, like if you want to hear more about fitness or entrepreneurship or about our relationship or relationships in general. Yeah. I mean, that's one thing I know we talked about how we were going to talk about like our love life a little bit, like the romantic side. We haven't done that once. It's top secret. That's why. Yeah. Top secret.

Reflecting on 2024 and Goal Setting for 2025

00:02:40
Jacob Oak
Anyways. Just kidding. Welcome to 2025. Thanks for those of you who made it with us to the new year. Yeah. I'm excited about the next two episodes and
00:02:50
Jacob Oak
I think that it will be a good opportunity for listeners to follow along and potentially you know kind of copy what we're doing here. Kaylee and I just sat down for about an hour before this show. Definitely the most we've ever prepped for a show and did the exercise that we're about to walk people through and we'll do the same thing for next week. but
00:03:16
Jacob Oak
Essentially for this episode, it's going to be all about reflection on 2024. And next week's episode is going to all be all about our goals of 2025. And we're going to do this in a way that it's not just us talking about ourselves, right? We're going to use ourselves as examples, but, you know, Taylor and Christine do a good job on impact initiative where they use themselves as examples, as you know, we go through and follow on the curriculum. So as we're giving the prompts and whatnot, those are great opportunities to hit pause and fill it out on your notebook yourself. And we may also release
00:04:02
Jacob Oak
a document or more content about it as

Value of Reflection and Positivity

00:04:05
Jacob Oak
well on socials. So be on the lookout for that too. If that comes out, otherwise this podcast is highly secretive, I guess you're going to get the most as of right now from this pod. Maybe we, maybe we won't release anything. I don't know. but We'll see. So, but I'm just going to like side note. I think that new year's goals and reflections can sometimes get a bad rap. It's like, okay, well,
00:04:29
Jacob Oak
what's the big deal about doing this stuff? And you hear about everyone kind of falling off the bandwagon right away. I don't know the statistics, but like 90% of New Year's goals like go down the gutter in the first month. But that's why I think doing the reflection part of it too. And like the vision

Tracking Progress and Personal Growth

00:04:50
Jacob Oak
work is very impactful because I think sometimes we can look back on the year and be like, wow, it was a really hard year.
00:04:58
Jacob Oak
And I think that's okay, but then also finding me in like the little glimmers in the year too, like looking back at January of 2024, so a year ago, seeing where you were at that time. And I think now having a business too, it's very interesting because we have literal numbers to go by. And if you're an athlete, even looking at mileage for the year, I mean, there's so many different ways that you can kind of track your progress and it doesn't even have to be a numbers thing. It can even just be,
00:05:28
Jacob Oak
My relationships with others grew. My relationship with my partner grew. I learned about myself more. And I think that can kind of turn things around in a different light and

Personal and Business Achievements of 2024

00:05:40
Jacob Oak
be like, okay, there actually was a lot of work done. And if not, and you're like, wow, I really sucked this year. That's fine too. And it gives you kind of a baseline for the next year to be like, okay, these are things that I'd like to work on and maybe change or just dive deeper into? Yeah, I think reflecting is good for people like you and I, for example, because it kind of forces us to slow down and think for a second to you instead of just always thinking about the next thing. And you for example, too, something that's interesting is one of like the main goals I've been talking to you for 2025 is I want to hit
00:06:21
Jacob Oak
2250 to 2500 miles. I'm into ranges now. We'll talk about that in the next episode probably, but I'm big on ranges. But what's interesting is I've been telling you that I told Matt that my coach and I've been kind of starting to tell people that all out loud of like, that's one of my goals and like other things too. Right. And when I reflected, I'm not realizing I didn't write down one thing about 2024 that had to do with like the total amount of miles I ran. So then why?
00:06:45
Jacob Oak
It's just interesting. I, when I reflected on it, that wasn't something I thought was like cool that I did 2024, like around just under 2000 in 2024, but I didn't even highlight that. So then it's kind of like, Oh, does that number actually matter a whole lot in 2025? So it just kind of makes you think about like, when you're reflecting on the good and bad of the past year, you can use that then to propel you into 2025 and in a more realistic way, I guess, and realize what actually matters too. So, and getting out of like the day to day.
00:07:14
Jacob Oak
things and more so looking at the bigger picture saying as business owners too, I can be hard on myself for a week of like, okay, I had less patients this week. And then, you know, I was looking back at the number of patients I had last year. It's like, wow, that was a significant increase in like our, both of our revenues from this year compared to last year. And yeah, you should put this monthly thing you got on your notes of Patience last year, like per month versus this. So you put that on a bar chart. That should be on Instagram. Thank you.
00:07:54
Jacob Oak
Yeah, I think we can get so easily for people watching on YouTube. There's my patient numbers. This is not HIPAA. These are just numbers. Not being personal is being shared here.
00:08:09
Jacob Oak
um But yeah, I think just step taking a step back for a little bit and it just so happens that I feel like our society really values the end of the calendar year

Overcoming Challenges and Learning from the Past

00:08:20
Jacob Oak
as the time to do this stuff and might as well. yeah It's fun. It's fun. It's totally fun. My older brother once told me that because it's like, it's it's also kind of trendy to not set goals. yeah you know you're I used to not do that. You're like, oh, you're a nerd. You're setting goals. like whatever, you know, that's, it's almost like there's a trendy side of it too, which is fine, but I don't know. I think it's fun. I think it's cool to think about like 2025 and the next year and think about the last year. And so, yeah. So 2024 reflection, what are the five prompts that we're going to talk about? So we're going to talk about some of our top achievements this year, personal and business wise, we're going to talk about challenges. We are going to talk about.
00:09:06
Jacob Oak
habits that have served us well, things we leave behind. We're going to do a little body and wellness check-in, um, as well as talking about different mind, spirit things. And yeah, kind of talk about, I mean, you guys know that I love talking about more holistic things and looking up a whole person. That's kind of what we're doing, physical, mental, spiritual relationships and go from there.
00:09:33
Jacob Oak
So the first thing that we did was looking at our top three achievements for this year. And we did both personal and business, but this can be personal and professional or personal and career wise, whatever fits you. I mean, if you're, you know, stay at home parent, for example, like even, you know, personal and then what you're doing for like the family, things like that. So kind of tailor this to your specific situation, but we did personal and business. And we did three for each, and now's a great time to hit pause and write this out if you're following along. You can see top three achievements, little personal, business, underline. One, two, three, one, two, three, go!
00:10:20
Jacob Oak
All right, so Jacob, what were your top three personal achievements this year? So my three personal achievements, I put number one, I guess they're not in any specific order, but whatever. Number one, I put moving in with Kaylee.
00:10:36
Jacob Oak
Big deal. Relationship, right? We don't need to dive super deep into any of them, I guess. Cause I could probably talk about that for an hour. Number talk about that talk about me number two,
00:10:50
Jacob Oak
I put three 10 marathon. Again, we don't need to talk super and deep about that, but you could also put 2000 miles, but that number is cool to me. I'm pretty hyped about that. Number three, I put my Washington sabbatical and then I put slash work life dreams. Those are, that's another one. That's really kind of like the Colorado one. Just being able to do

Setting New Goals and Habit Changes

00:11:10
Jacob Oak
that. but What about you?
00:11:13
Jacob Oak
Um, I said completing cane break 200 miler. It's kind of crazy that that was still less than a year ago. It doesn't feel like that was this year. Yeah. Um, yeah, that was quite the all around battle and journey, but, um, did that. And then I said that I grew so much more confident in my athletic abilities and as a human.
00:11:43
Jacob Oak
Yeah. Confidence just grew tremendously with feeling like I actually have a place in the fitness world and that I can compete with people that I once thought were crazy far ahead of me. Um, and my third one, I said less people pleasing and grew into Kaylee as in like who I want to be and not doing things because of others or who I think others want me to be. Um, and just growing into the type of person that I want to be.

Wellness Practices and Mental Peace

00:12:21
Jacob Oak
Wow. What'd you put for your top three business? So now we're onto business. Um, so I had, this is kind of a numbers thing, but over four, 400 appointments just for my business and
00:12:34
Jacob Oak
either doubled to triple the amount of appointments I had per month compared to last year wow and hoping to continue doubling that into 2025, which I'll talk about next week, I guess, but, um, completed my first whole calendar year as a business owner, which is also exciting. Cause I feel like that doesn't always happen with people and grew my business as an entrepreneur and business owner. And.
00:13:04
Jacob Oak
really focusing on helping the people that want to be helped. I wrote that down at one point. Nice. Nice. So for my business, number one, I put fully self-employed as of August, which could also be a personal achievement, but that's, I feel pretty cool about that too. That's a pretty outstanding thing. Number two, my net sales increased this year by 300%. Hopefully I can do that again next year. That'd be cool. And then,
00:13:34
Jacob Oak
correct I said number three, number two, whatever that was. Number three, these are kind of numbers, but I'm going to rattle them off quick. I had 478 total training sessions, which is an average of nine per week. And if you think about like the first half of the year when I was still working at PRG and stuff, and then missing all of July.
00:13:54
Jacob Oak
Pretty happy about that. Plus it gives me a good metrics now metric now. It's like next year if I can, you know, increase that and get that to be like 15, 20. And it's kind of where it is right now going into the new year. So the run clients are what I'm more excited about though in this specific thing. And my run clients increased from four to 18.
00:14:16
Jacob Oak
This year. So that's cool. That one I'm pretty hyped about. Is that 400%? 350. And more importantly, I only lost four clients. So I'm ending the year with 18 run clients. And I picked up a total of 22 throughout the year. And I've lost four. And one of those people moved to strength instead.
00:14:44
Jacob Oak
One of them just was not a the right fit. One had just too much going on, and then the other one...
00:14:51
Jacob Oak
I think they only worked with me in January, actually. It was one of those like the, I didn't, I forgot about that when I was going to the metrics, but they were part of working with me in January. And so yeah, so yeah, I'm pretty excited about that. So that's as a run coach, looking at like your retention, you know, especially with a lot of clients typically falling off after races and stuff, being able to retain people is something I'm very proud of. That's huge. So that's top three achievements.
00:15:20
Jacob Oak
Those were kind of fun to look at. Yeah, I like those. ah Number two. What challenges did you overcome, and what did they teach you? Again, now's a good time to hit pause and write these out. What challenges did you overcome, and what did they teach you? Should we do like top two? Yeah, just pick whatever top ones you want to talk about. I actually only did two, I think.
00:15:47
Jacob Oak
um
00:15:50
Jacob Oak
Oh, man.
00:15:52
Jacob Oak
So I think probably the biggest one, this might be for both of us, I won't speak on your half, but I think, I wrote, don't be afraid or mad at yourself about your past. There's always work to be done, talk to people. I think that both of us had some trauma come out this year and I think it showed maturity on like the other end when we talked through it with each other.
00:16:14
Jacob Oak
and you know again kind of just like no matter what people see on the surface level you just don't know what people are going through and again both of us had different things that kind of popped up that
00:16:27
Jacob Oak
I think, yeah, we both handled it very well. Therapy's great. So I think, you know, working through past trauma and that was probably like my biggest challenge this year. And I'm still working through it obviously, but there's just

Relationships and Community Support

00:16:40
Jacob Oak
a lot that we go through in life and a lot of things that stay with us that are hard to completely overcome. So that's one, go ahead. I said,
00:16:51
Jacob Oak
old relationship patterns and understanding the past is the past, and that Jacob is a different person and human, and but together we're creating new patterns and relationships with each other. right Same idea. Yeah. I think that could be a good episode, honestly, at some point, if we're comfortable and ready to talk about that. Because there is there was a lot that happened on both ends where we had to kind of take a step back and go like, okay, Kaylee is Kaylee, Jacob is Jacob. You know what I mean? So that was number one. And then the other one's tough. I'm going to pick the other biggest like challenge was the injury slash like being forced to slow down back in the spring. And there's a lot, you know, to that, but I think overcoming that from a perspective of,
00:17:44
Jacob Oak
being humbled to realize that you're not gonna be able to do as much as you think you can all the time. God was working, wait, I had like... three, four jobs and it's just like I was doing too, I was stressing myself out way too much. And so like humbling myself in that perspective was really important to know that at some point, if you want to keep growing, you have to cut things out and you're not going to make everyone happy. But at the same time, when you cut people out, it sounds harsh, but like when you cut things out, the people that are actually on your team reveal themselves too, you know, so.
00:18:19
Jacob Oak
Uh, and then also just recovery, nutrition and all of that stuff too, because I gained like 20 pounds and I did not like how I felt. And then I got injured and I learned a lot of recovery, nutrition wise there and like weight and things like that. So take time off to take time off. And that's kind of also mine. It's weird that we're in a relationship relationship together with our similarities, but So I'm figuring out where and with who to give my attention and time. And that's something I'm definitely still working on, but Jacob is very good at it helping me with that. I am awesome. Yeah, you are.
00:19:04
Jacob Oak
um Okay. Then the next one we talked about is number three

Podcast Growth and Future Goals

00:19:10
Jacob Oak
which habits served you well this year and which ones would you like to leave behind?
00:19:17
Jacob Oak
So what have, what habits served you well this year? Like what do you want to keep and which habits would you like to leave behind? Take it or leave it. Um, so some habits that I thought served me well this year were exercising regularly. So given in both of our lives, um, and something that helps keep both of us sane with ourselves and each other.
00:19:47
Jacob Oak
Why are you laughing at that? Just talking about it today and it's very real. Doing things that bring me joy, always trying to focus on that. Cooking and something that's also a thing for me that I'm always working on is learning that it's okay to spend money on fun things and to not be so hard on myself about it.

Family Gatherings and Gratitude

00:20:10
Jacob Oak
Jacob's giving me a big head nod here. That's also something that you're helping me with because I kind of feel like I've been living like a broke college student for my entire life. And at some point you kind of need to get past that. Like there's a, this would be a good episode too about finances and our relationship too. But yes, live within your means live under your means, but also you have to enjoy life. And I'm very good at stressing myself out to the point where it's like not healthy when it's like, if I'd just gone out to eat and not
00:20:45
Jacob Oak
been so hard on myself, I would have enjoyed it way more.
00:20:51
Jacob Oak
Do you want to say yours? Yeah, I think the biggest thing I did well this year was learning. It's a practice, right? But learning to just be content. And my therapist and I talk a lot about just be.
00:21:04
Jacob Oak
That's the phrase I use just be not always having to move forward. Um, I think I, after the injury and stuff that was when that really started, but I think I've done a good job of that. Uh, and then I put consistent therapy again, even when you think you're doing well, or even when you are doing well, I think it's just beneficial to keep that going. And then, yeah, just keep stacking bricks, keep doing what's working, running in business and whatnot and focus on.
00:21:31
Jacob Oak
focus on what's working and just go all in on that. Keep, keep compounding. Things that I want to leave in the next year, um, doing things that I really don't want to or going places that I really don't want to. Again, there's only, I mean, there's compromise with things and this doesn't go for every single thing, but if it really like, if it's something you really don't want to do or like that,
00:21:59
Jacob Oak
is leaving more stress or like kind of like leaving that lump in your throat or you know is going to leave you way more drained than necessary. Don't do it. And another one I said is doing things just for the sake of not wanting to disappoint or let down others. That's something I've always done. And in the end, you're not really helping anyone because people know when you're not having a good time or when you're doing it like just to please other people. Um, and then also I want to leave the, the need to always feel like I need to be doing things. That's another thing that I do a lot is feeling like I always need to be busy again. I don't know if it's like the, I feel like I need to not let people down or to like prove myself, but I put that too. Nice. What else did you put?
00:22:56
Jacob Oak
So I put number one, trying to help everyone slash change everyone's mind, focus on those asking, and more importantly, now that we're growing, to focus on those that are paying. That's another important thing. And that's not really important to die for right now, but yeah, just help those that want our help. I think that's important and a big thing for entrepreneurs to remember.
00:23:20
Jacob Oak
Next thing, trying to be part of 50 different communities. Kind of goes back to the thing I just talked about that, you know,
00:23:31
Jacob Oak
being a part of those that are serving you. And I kind of lost my train of thought. I don't know what I was going to say. But yeah, trying to be part of 50 different communities. Don't do that. um Number three, I stole this one and the next one from Jay Shetty's podcast, avoid making mistakes. Mistakes can be good.
00:23:50
Jacob Oak
I'm gonna leave behind avoiding them. Number four, also Jay Shetty that I stole from him, belief that busy is good. Productivity, not busyness. And then last one, being perfect. Perfect coach, perfect friend, perfect partner, whatever. I'm gonna leave that behind because I'm not. You cannot be everything to everyone. Yeah. Because you can be the juiciest and write this peach on the tree. And some people still aren't going to like peaches. Yeah. It's a fact of the matter. Yeah. And then in those situations, focus on the people that like peaches, and but also don't piss off people who don't like peaches. You don't want them talking yeah bad about peaches to other people. They just don't need to pick you. yeah That's fine. Just have them move by you in the supermarket. Um, all right. Body and wellness check-in.
00:24:47
Jacob Oak
How did you nurture your physical health this year? And I'm gonna combine it, like what movement practices brought you joy? Number four. So how did you nurture your physical health this year? And what movement practices brought you joy? I just ran a lot, a lot. Did it bring you joy? I miss sometimes. And then I put the second one, high rocks, lifting, athletic moves, weights.
00:25:15
Jacob Oak
which is what I've been doing the past like two weeks of the year. So I'm gonna focus more on that in the new year and making sure I also do that.
00:25:27
Jacob Oak
That's all yours? Yeah. I put walks, something I need to do more often. I love walking. Sanas, trail runs, group runs, weightlifting, sleeping more than eight hours a night and resting when tired,
00:25:44
Jacob Oak
Not pushing through. I like that one. I should have put sauna. I liked our sauna time together. I forgot about that. Yeah, me too. And I didn't think about, you put group rounds. I didn't even think about that group. Yeah. all The bike rides with Caleb actually too. Those were awesome. Yeah. Mind and spirit. It's one of my favorite things. Number five. What brought you peace this year?
00:26:13
Jacob Oak
I like this one. I put, I got seven things here. Number one, I'm gonna go backwards this time. Sitting on the couch. You love sitting on the couch. My community, friendships, time out with them. Coffee, I love coffee. I got an espresso maker for New Year's, or for Christmas. Binge-watching shows, I really enjoyed doing that.
00:26:42
Jacob Oak
eating out, also really enjoyed doing that. And then ah the friendship one, you can put friendship and family, friends and family, time with them, going back to that. And then my last one, time with Bay, Kaylee. And like I said, I did that backwards. So the first one actually was time with Kaylee, you're saying. You were the first thought I had. Thanks Jacob. I said time with my grandmas, time with Jacob, weekends without plants.
00:27:12
Jacob Oak
which is another thing I'm trying to get better at and not just planning all of the things for weekends. Hiking and being outside, cooking at home, which is funny since yours was eat out. We already know that. I started meditating this year on, we're gonna say semi-irregularly, but when I do it, I love it. It makes me feel so much better after.
00:27:40
Jacob Oak
Um, again, running with friends in a community. And, um, my grandma Lori passed this year, a couple of weeks ago, but something that brought me a lot of peace was just kind of remembering that like her, like endless and unconditional love is everywhere. And that it's not like, and this, I mean, people have lots of different beliefs on this, right? But my belief with my grandma is that she's now everywhere with me.
00:28:09
Jacob Oak
and it's kind of like my guide and angel almost and like a lot of protection and if you haven't had Reiki before highly recommend because that's kind of where my whole perspective changed with this and I went from being in extreme grief mode to really coming to peace with her passing and I felt so much better after and now it's like Girl is just always here and she's youthful and yeah, it just brought a lot of peace. Um, so shout out Jennifer at Crocus Hill acupuncture for that Reiki session. Cause that was life-changing for me. Um,
00:28:56
Jacob Oak
listening to my body and not pushing 24 seven and sending time with my sister and her boyfriend.
00:29:06
Jacob Oak
And the last one, what relationships enriched your life? Also, this is the six. So we miscounted. Whoops. I didn't count. You counted. I miscounted. I'll take the blame. We don't really. Yeah. There's six things. What relationships enriched your life, Kaylee? Or listener. Go ahead and pause. Kaylee. My life partner and best friend, Jacob.

for all my holistic health peeps. And there were tons of other people. And these are just a few that immediately came to mind, but I really appreciate my entire community and relationships. And I feel like both of us are very good at spending time with people who do bring us joy and uplift us. So kind of anyone who we spend time with, but really appreciate you all. You?
00:31:04
Jacob Oak
So I have some names, but I'm gonna say first, everyone that's in the Oak Endurance community in some way is extremely, has extremely enriched my life. The other one I wanted to give a shout out to is the PRG community. Even though I don't work there anymore, I feel like I'm still a part of it. It's just a different, you know, role now. I'm not there as much, obviously, but everyone there, the trainers,
00:31:32
Jacob Oak
that were there when I was there, that may not be there now. now People were there currently. you know There's a lot of people there that have just really changed my life. so And then I put family and friends. Again, that's a pretty big category, but you know who you are, obviously. My family's kind of big, so. um Specific names, Kaley, Todd, Todd S, Jake and Jess Knight, and I put Caleb, Boykes, Taylor and Christine, Kyle, Peyton, Jack,
00:32:02
Jacob Oak
Matt Welch. Probably forgetting someone. I'm definitely forgetting. I feel kind of bad already. I apologize if I'm forgetting them. Maybe you shouldn't have given specifics. Maybe not. And everyone that's listening to this podcast right now, we love you. Oh, we get to do this community. We get to do this community. There's too many names of you, so we appreciate you all. I mean, there's so much good in the world, right? Should we talk about another people that we don't like?
00:32:29
Jacob Oak
Just kidding. Just kidding. Just kidding. Um, so with that, just a few really quickly reflecting on pod yeah from 2024. We started this in August of 2024. And again, it was something we had been talking about for a while. And then finally we're like, let's just do it. And.
00:32:54
Jacob Oak
I think sometimes in life you just need to dive in, even if you're not completely ready, but you just need to go for it and see where things, where it takes you. I think that's what we did with this. And so we sat and you want to share some of, we just have a few like, yeah, metrics, yeah fun stats. Yeah. So since we launched, we have 21 episodes. We've had about 575,000 plays.
00:33:20
Jacob Oak
572,000. Just kidding. But people probably thought that it was true at first. I've had 772 plays, so we'll probably hit 1,000 relatively soon. Our highest episode has 62 plays. So that's cool. We're averaging like...
00:33:37
Jacob Oak
30 and then actually get that number, but 30ish. And then we've had five guests on, five people wanting to come on the podcast and special shout outs to Taylor, Todd, Aaron, Ana, Jess, and honorable mention to David as well. Because he technically wasn't guest as well.
00:33:54
Jacob Oak
honorable mention. So and we'll talk about goals next week for the pod, but we wrote some fun ones and 21 episodes in 2024. And we only missed one week. Yeah. Right. The last last week for Christmas. And we had listeners in other countries too, a couple of different countries, which is cool. Yeah. Shout out. Shout out Europe for your listenership. Yeah.
00:34:20
Jacob Oak
A couple of TEC coaches are in Europe. So maybe that's where they're coming from. I don't know. Yeah, maybe Anna. Yeah. Thanks for listening, everyone. Um, but yeah, I highly, like we said at the beginning, I highly recommend recommend doing some kind of exercise. It doesn't mean the things we talked about, but just any kind of like journaling or.
00:34:39
Jacob Oak
I know there's another thing like even looking back on your year in pictures and writing down like a highlight or a little moment or whatever from each month and just kind of remembering that way is another good way to reflect and yeah and even just listening to the podcast a lot of times I'll do that with like Jay Shetty and just like hearing his thoughts on what he's leaving behind made me think about oh Yeah, I'm doing that too, you know? So even just thinking about this while you're on a run is a good idea. And we'll throw the, we'll throw the specific outline in the show notes too, so you can find it there. and Yeah. Jacob, what's been your, we get to do this moment lately.
00:35:22
Jacob Oak
I can go first. You go first, I'm thinking. My, we get to do this moment is the last week of holiday stuff. We have kind of three separate family functions that we got to go to. And yes, I was exhausted after those three days, but I just kept thinking. I mean, when we left, it was like, we know this is going to go by so fast these next three days. And I just feel very grateful to have three awesome families who all love us and that we love and really enjoy spending time with. And there wasn't any place that I was like dreading going to, which is
00:36:01
Jacob Oak
I feel like Kylie unusual. And yeah, just very grateful for all the time we spent with everyone, the meals shared, the laughs shared, all the games we played. And I was just extra grateful to be able to do it with you.
00:36:17
Jacob Oak
What's yours? Getting a tattoo. Do you want a show? This is why we get to do this moment. And you have to go on YouTube to see what the tattoo is, but it's on screen right now.
00:36:31
Jacob Oak
So let's just say he's getting really personal with the pod. I mean, yeah, I think that, that I had two different moments specifically. One was while I was at work this past Monday before Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve Eve. And I had like, I was straight from six to two with clients and I was kind of like dreading it a little bit. And then I reminded myself like Jacob.
00:37:00
Jacob Oak
Like this privilege, you know, um, and I've had a few different moments this month where I've just been busy with work and there is the side of it. Like, yeah, this is work now. So, you know, and that whole, like my job as my hobby kind of has worn off. Like it definitely feels like.
00:37:20
Jacob Oak
work in a job sometimes, but at the same time, I need to remind myself sometimes that like, one, there are a lot of trainers and coaches that would kill to have like the amount of people that trust in me. And then two, just the fact that I can do just this. I don't have to do any other job. and And that's really cool. And then I need to maybe like,
00:37:43
Jacob Oak
get help this year, you know? So thinking about that stuff. But I think that's a pretty big, we get to do this moment for me and not to say and another, but yeah, the family stuff. I personally struggle a lot around the holidays. i always The past few years have just with them like how different they are you know now versus how they were 10 years ago. so i'm deaf i I fall into the category of people that I don't really like the holidays a whole lot. i'm usually like ah In the past, I would always work through them and just try to get through them.
00:38:17
Jacob Oak
And it's changing a little bit, but it's still a struggle for me. But I do remember thinking about that a lot this year when we were bouncing around from place to place and just kind of thinking like, well, there's a lot of like grandparents and people in our lives that, you know, who knows who knows how much longer they'll be there for sure. And just kind of reminding like enjoying this family time because you don't get family time like this as often anymore. And it's going to continue to change as we get older. So yeah.
00:38:45
Jacob Oak
There's my ramble. We get to do this. sure We get to do this episode 20, 22 Taylor.
00:38:56
Jacob Oak
Yeah. you in twenty Did you just mess up a Taylor? No, no. Wow. I'm tired. Okay. Let's play the outro. Peace out everyone. Happy new year. Thanks for listening. Go bikes.
