If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your  commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site,  here:     https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year

Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site,   here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages

Today's reading will cover Jeremiah Chapter 7:1-11, 18-19, Chapter 13:1-11, 15-17, Chapter 18:1-8, 11-12, 15, 17-23, and Chapter 19:1-4, 10-11, and 14-15. Today we will read about the people continuing in their sin and yet claiming salvation, making God's house like a house of robbers. God contrasts this with how He intended His people to be: worshipers of God who tell others about Him. But the people have not listened. Despite their disobedience God reassures the people that He is still able to use them and make them into something good, the same way that a potter reshapes a pot that becomes disfigured while being made. The clay is not simply tossed back into a lump. Instead, the potter simply reshapes the clay as he sees best. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how God can do the same with us. If we have fallen away from God or wandered from Him we do not need to feel that we can't still be useful to Him. Like the potter, God will reshape us and mold us into someone useful for Him. We are never returned to the pile of unformed clay, declared useless and without purpose. If you need help finding YOUR purpose in life, feel free to head over to my site and leave me a message. I would love to connect with you and help you receive the name God has given you before you were even conceived. Why do this? Because once you know WHO you are then you will understand that being who God created you to be is your greatest gift to the world. Everything you do each day will be shaped by being who God made you to be and you will see God's purpose for your life unfold before your very eyes. Don't let the enemy tell you that you have no purpose or are useless, no matter how young or how old you are. leave me a message at www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com and let me know that you that you would like to learn the name that God has given you. This is completely free. It doesn't take very long. Helping people find their true identity is part of my purpose in life and I am happy to be useful, doing the work that God prepared for me to do. I look forward to hearing from YOU and helping you receive God's name for you. Sincerely, Robin.

Jeremiah's Prophecies and Metaphors

00:02:43
Speaker
So today we are going to continue in the book of Jeremiah.
00:02:47
Speaker
Here's a fun fact for you. Jeremiah is the longest book in the Bible. It is longer than the books of Genesis or Psalms or Ezekiel, which I didn't even know Ezekiel was that long, but apparently it is.
00:03:03
Speaker
And it is longer than Ezekiel. It is longer than Psalms and it is longer than Genesis. So we don't cover every single chapter in the book of Jeremiah to be able to get our big picture.
00:03:16
Speaker
But we are covering some really important stuff. And today is no different. Today we are going to see who it is we hurt when we don't follow God.
00:03:29
Speaker
So keep your ears open for that. There's a little bit of a... ah ver of a teaser for you there. Keep those ears open for who actually gets hurt when we don't follow God.
00:03:43
Speaker
All right, so let's get going today. Today's chapters cover chapter 7 and chapter 13, 18, and 19. and nineteen And as always, if you are hungry for more of God's word and want to look up these chapters in your big Bible, I put the description, I put these chapters in the description ah because I don't expect you to be able to have, you know, notes handy while you're listening or watching or,
00:04:08
Speaker
or um like that, but I do always put the reference for where these ah excerpts are taken from. And I also always have a description.
00:04:18
Speaker
So ah ah as to what it is we talked about in our daily application, in addition to where, what we read about.
00:04:29
Speaker
Here we go, starting with chapter seven, this section or this chapter is entitled, A Message at the Gate.
00:04:38
Speaker
God told Jeremiah to stand at the gate of God's worship house. He said to give the people this message. Hear God's word, you people of Judah.
00:04:50
Speaker
You come through these gates to worship God. But God says to change the way you act. Then he will let you live here. Don't trust lies.
00:05:04
Speaker
Don't just say, this is God's worship house. This is God's worship house. This is God's worship house. Instead, do what is right.
00:05:16
Speaker
Be kind to people from other lands. Be kind to children who have no fathers. Be kind to women whose husbands have died.
00:05:28
Speaker
Don't kill. Do not worship idols. or other gods. Then I will let you live here in this land. But you trust in lies.
00:05:42
Speaker
You steal. You kill. You leave the one you married. You lie. You worship idols. You stand in my worship house and you say, we're safe.
00:05:57
Speaker
Are you safe to do all these bad things? Is this a house for robbers? I have watched all of this, says God.
00:06:09
Speaker
The children go out and get wood, the fathers make a fire, and the women make cakes. Then they use these things to worship idols. These people make me angry, says God.
00:06:23
Speaker
But I'm not really the one they're hurting. says God. They are really hurting themselves. They make themselves look bad.
00:06:37
Speaker
Chapter 13 The Belt in the Rocks Here's what God told me. Go and buy a cloth belt. Put it around your middle, but don't let any water get on it.
00:06:52
Speaker
So I bought the belt, and I put it on. And then God said, Take the belt off and hide it in the rocks. So I hid the belt in the rocks and sometime later God said, Go back to the belt where you hid it.
00:07:09
Speaker
Go get it. So I went back and I dug up the belt I hid. But it was all dirty and torn and it was no good.
00:07:21
Speaker
God said, This is how I'll get rid of Judah's pride. My people won't listen to me. They don't care about me. They worship ah idols.
00:07:33
Speaker
So they will be like this belt. No good. A belt is tied around a person. So I tied Israel and Judah to myself, said God.
00:07:46
Speaker
I wanted them to be my people. I wanted them to praise and worship me. I wanted them to let others know about me. but they have not listened to me.
00:08:01
Speaker
Listen to God and think about this. Don't brag. Tell how great God is. If you don't listen, I'll cry in secret because you are so proud.
00:08:18
Speaker
God's people will be taken from their land.
00:08:23
Speaker
Chapter 18, The Potter's House God told Jeremiah to go and see the person who made clay pots. God said, I will give you my message there.
00:08:37
Speaker
So Jeremiah went to the potter's house, and the man was working with clay. But he messed up the pot he was making, so he made it into a different pot. He made it the way he thought was best.
00:08:53
Speaker
Then God said, Israel, Don't you see? i can do to you what this potter does to clay. You are like clay in my hands.
00:09:05
Speaker
Stop doing wrong and start doing right. Then I will change my mind and I won't bring the trouble I planned.
00:09:16
Speaker
Tell my people in Judah that I am getting trouble ready for them. So stop doing wrong. Start doing right. but they will say that they will follow their own plans.
00:09:29
Speaker
So here's what God says. A terrible thing has been done. My people have forgotten me. They worship idols, so I will turn my back on them when they are in trouble.
00:09:44
Speaker
Then people said, come on, let's get Jeremiah and we won't let him talk against us. Let's not listen to anything he says. So Jeremiah said, Listen, God, hear what these people say.
00:10:00
Speaker
Should you send me trouble for the good I have done? They have set a trap for me. Remember when I came to you and I spoke for them and I asked you to stop being angry at them.
00:10:14
Speaker
But now take their food away. Let fighting come. They're trying to catch me, and you know about their plans to kill me. So don't forgive them.
00:10:25
Speaker
Don't let them get away with their sins.
00:10:29
Speaker
Chapter 19. The Clay Jar God said, "'Go see the potter. Buy a clay jar from him. Then go out to the valley near the pot gate.' Take some leaders and priests with you.
00:10:46
Speaker
Tell them these words from me. Listen, I'm going to bring terrible trouble on this place. When people hear about it, their ears will feel hot.
00:10:57
Speaker
And it's all because they turned away from me. They made this a place for idols. Then God told me, Break your jar while the leaders watch.
00:11:10
Speaker
Tell them that God says he will break this nation and this city.
00:11:21
Speaker
They will break like a pot that breaks and can't be fixed.
00:11:26
Speaker
Then Jeremiah went to God's worship house and he stood there. He told the people what the God of all power had said. Listen, I'm going to bring all the trouble I told you about.
00:11:39
Speaker
And it's all because the people didn't care about me and they wouldn't listen to me.
00:11:46
Speaker
And that's the end of our reading today.
00:11:53
Speaker
There was a lot today. Let's go back to the beginning and see.

Living Righteously & Finding Purpose

00:11:59
Speaker
Remember yesterday we talked about that God said that if there was even one righteous person,
00:12:05
Speaker
in the city of Jerusalem, that he would save that city. And we see that in ah yesterday's that even the priests were not shepherding God's flock.
00:12:19
Speaker
they were not delivering truthful messages. They were telling people that everything was going to be fine and that they were doing it everything okay. And God said that you like it that way. Even your priests lie to you and you like it that way.
00:12:35
Speaker
They didn't wanna bad news. And Jeremiah told us yesterday that they didn't like Jeremiah's message because it didn't make the people feel good.
00:12:50
Speaker
And here we see that when they go into God's worship house, they think that everything is okay. They can behave however they want and just go in and go to church. And that's all that they need to do is just talk the talk.
00:13:06
Speaker
But here we see God is telling them that they are going into God's house and that they are liars. They are killers. They are doing bad things.
00:13:18
Speaker
They steal. They hurt other people. And he they so he says that the people go in and say, oh, we're saved. We are safe here. This is God's house. And God says, this is not a place for people who do wrong to live. This is not a den of robbers.
00:13:38
Speaker
And so the people think that they can just do whatever and nothing will happen. And God says, this is not a place for you to come and be saved and just be able to do whatever you want and just claim salvation.
00:13:52
Speaker
And we read about that actually a few weeks ago, or maybe it was a month or so ago, when we we looked at the New Testament and we read about, oh, I can't think it was Paul who was telling us that we can't just...
00:14:11
Speaker
keep living in our sin. The people wanted to just keep living in their sin and then accepting salvation and saying, I'm saved. And the same goes for us today as well.
00:14:25
Speaker
we can we have it We can have a tendency to take our salvation for granted and say, oh well, it doesn't matter what we do because God will forgive me no matter what.
00:14:36
Speaker
God says that is not what it's all about. Salvation itself is free, but it's taking advantage of the salvation that God has given us if we don't actually change our ways and go the way that God has taught us to go.
00:14:53
Speaker
As God said yesterday, come to the road where there are two ways and look down each road and see which one is right and take that way.
00:15:06
Speaker
And this is what God is saying here as well. And God tells us that when we take that bad road, when we do those wrong things, when we trust in lies, who is it we are actually hurting?
00:15:22
Speaker
That's right. It's ourselves that we are actually hurting.
00:15:28
Speaker
When we make wrong decisions, when we hurt other people, we suffer the consequences of those broken relationships. When we hurt other people, sometimes it can even involve going to jail. If we are stealing, then it can involve going to jail.
00:15:46
Speaker
And then we are the ones who are having to suffer the consequences for it. And that's not what God wants us to do. God tells us that they were trusting in lies.
00:15:56
Speaker
How do we trust in lies? What were the lies that they were trusting in? They were trusting in the lie of the idols. They were believing in the idols to help them, the false gods to help them.
00:16:10
Speaker
They were making wood and fires and cakes for these false gods and they were doing it and God could see it. God says, i see all of this. I've watched all of this.
00:16:23
Speaker
And it's they are making themselves look bad. When we talk the talk without walking the walk, we've talked about the fact that other people see us and they will think that it is okay and we are not to lead other people astray.
00:16:41
Speaker
We are instead to point them to God, to walk in righteousness, to do the right thing. And so when they were leading each other astray, they were living in lies. They were trusting in lies.
00:16:56
Speaker
None of those idols had the ability to care for the people. Only God cares for us. And God says here that he tied these people to him like a belt. And he wanted them to praise and worship him.
00:17:10
Speaker
He wanted them to let others know about him. Are we praising and worshiping God with our lips, but not with our heart by doing the things that are right and not taking our salvation for granted by just continuing in our sin and claiming forgiveness?
00:17:30
Speaker
Are we letting others know about God? When we follow God's ways and we trust in him to take us through difficult times, those become things that we experience with God.
00:17:42
Speaker
And as we've talked about many times, we then are to be witnesses to what God has done for us. They were not witnessing about God. We read in Isaiah that God calls us to be witnesses to him.
00:17:56
Speaker
They were not witnessing about him. They were not experiencing transformation with God and then sharing that with their neighbors. There was not one righteous person to be found.
00:18:08
Speaker
Even the priests were not following. And the priests said that, let's see, the people were, the people went to, um Let's see, where is that?
00:18:30
Speaker
It says the people said, come on, let's get Jeremiah. We won't let him talk against us. Let's not listen to anything he says. Now God tells us that he was sending people to warn them and warn them and warn them.
00:18:46
Speaker
And yet they wouldn't listen. And that's exactly what is going on there is that they wouldn't listen. And yet God issues a warning here too. And this is very important. He says, with the example of the potter who is making the clay pot, God is like the potter who is making the clay pot.
00:19:09
Speaker
And as he is forming us, we are imperfect. And we make choices and sometimes we don't end up doing the things that God wants us to do.
00:19:20
Speaker
But there is hope because God tells us here that like that clay pot, it doesn't just return as a lump of clay. Instead, it gets reformed by the potter into a different pot.
00:19:37
Speaker
He made it the way he thought was best. And God does that same work within us. When we make mistakes, it doesn't mean that we are worthless.
00:19:49
Speaker
It means that God takes us and he reshapes us. He doesn't give up on us. He doesn't just throw us back into the blobs of clay and say, I'm finished with it.
00:19:59
Speaker
It's nothing. Instead, God is telling us here that he will reshape us. We are still good and useful for him. So if you are here today listening and feeling that you have lost your way and that you are no longer purposeful or useful to God, don't let our enemy tell you that.
00:20:18
Speaker
Instead, take heart because God tells us that you still have purpose. He will reform you and reshape you, and he will make you into something new. and Isn't that beautiful?
00:20:36
Speaker
I love that. We actually talked about that this past Shabbat at church. I loved it. Our rabbi spoke about that. And I just thought that was so beautiful. And the fact that God's timing brings that to us right here tells me that God was teaching me so that I would be able to then share that message with you.
00:20:57
Speaker
I love that. And I love that our version of the Bible, although it is condensed, it is it is not without substance. These are not... preschool stories where they're just very, very shortened versions of snippets.
00:21:13
Speaker
This really is ah good version of the Bible that gives us a good overview. These are very important messages. So i hope that you are finding value in our daily application.
00:21:26
Speaker
to- Today, our daily application is that when we sin and when we turn away from God and follow lies, We are only hurting ourselves.
00:21:39
Speaker
But like the clay pot, those things do not cause us to be useless. When we turn back to God on our path, no matter how many times we turn back in our lives, God continues to reshape us and he continues to make us useful.
00:21:57
Speaker
We continue to become a different pot that he is making us into. So don't let the enemy discourage you. into making you feel like you are useless, that you have no purpose.
00:22:10
Speaker
I spoke with a woman this past weekend who believed that because she was older, she just wanted to not be around anymore because she said, how could I possibly have any purpose in life?
00:22:23
Speaker
And as long as you are here, God has purpose for you and he is not done reshaping your pot. So take heart, sisters and brothers. God absolutely has purpose for you.
00:22:36
Speaker
And if you want to talk more with me and about your purpose and how to find that, contact me on my site through my message center, and I will help you ah receive your identity in Christ. It's not something that, well, actually God's name for you is the way I should put it.
00:22:55
Speaker
God has a name for you if you don't already know what it is. And once you know the names that God has for you, you will understand better your purpose because then you are meant to be person that he made you to b Your name, my names, consist of obedient witness.
00:23:18
Speaker
And I've told you guys many a time that I am, one of my names is witness. So I am meant to experience things with God. and share them. And so that's part of what I do here in our daily event is I share the wonderful things and the ways that God is working in my life.
00:23:37
Speaker
And so when I do everything in my day, my eyes are open to who and what God brings me in my day, such as you, Patrick.
00:23:48
Speaker
Shout out to you, Patrick. Hello. i know you're listening out there. Thank you. Thank you for being here. God puts people in my path and he does so on purpose. And when he does, I speak to people as the obedient witness. When I hear God telling me to speak to people, I do.
00:24:10
Speaker
And I share with them just what God is taking me through and what God has taught me. And I am just simply being who God made me to be, but that is my purpose.
00:24:21
Speaker
And it makes my days so joyful. I'm so happy to be here. I'm happy to be at work. I'm happy to be doing whatever task I am given because I know that it is God who is placing me where I am. And it is to to be doing whatever he gives me to do with whomever he brings into my path.
00:24:41
Speaker
So if you too would like to have that same type of joy in everything that you do, then I will help you in community to hear your name that God gives you so that you can learn how to do that in everything you do, in every part of your day with the people that God brings into your life for you to be who God made you to be.
00:25:07
Speaker
because he is always making us into a beautiful, whatever he says. He says, whatever he thought, whatever he thinks is best, he is shaping us.
00:25:19
Speaker
So you have purpose. Don't let the enemy tell you otherwise, no matter how old you are or how young you are, Diamond. Diamond, you may be our youngest listener here, but you have so much purpose and you have a name that God has given to you.
00:25:36
Speaker
And we learned yesterday or two days ago that God knows us before we are even in our mama's tummies. He knew you before you were even in there.
00:25:47
Speaker
He knew his name for you. He knew your purpose. And one day you're going to learn what that is. And when you learn your name, share it with me.
00:25:58
Speaker
i want to see I want to hear it. And I want to see how you use the name and God gave you to be who he made you to be. So anybody listening, feel free to connect with me so that we can share how God is using who we are. And if you need help figuring out your name, I will walk you through that.
00:26:20
Speaker
It's nothing magical or special. It's just a process that's just a little bit more than what we do here in our daily reading. So I hope you have a fantastic day that you are just filled with God's light and love and that you go forth from this time being the light of the world, being the gift that God made you to be to the world because who he made you to be is your greatest gift to the world.
00:26:48
Speaker
And don't let the enemy take that away and tell you you have none. Because you do. So if you would be so kind after you are finished watching or listening, please click that light button that looks like a thumbs up or a heart.
00:27:03
Speaker
Let's attract people to God's light and spread the word about reading his word. And I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your day.
00:27:14
Speaker
And I will be here for everyone again tomorrow.
