Introduction and Excitement for Roller Coasters

00:00:04
Speaker
Sunday! Sunday! Are you ready for the highest and fastest poster in the world? Are you ready for the real thing? I don't dare you to come face to face with the beast. The beast. 7,000 feet. I can't hear my voice. The Loch Ness Monster lives. What's the name again, Andy?
00:00:40
Speaker
Oh no. Mr. Pop.
00:01:20
Speaker
I've had the I've had the Millennium Force theme stuck in my head for for quite a bit now.

Cedar Point Visit and Breakers Stay

00:01:28
Speaker
I've been at Cedar Point this past weekend for
00:01:32
Speaker
It was just for Saturday, but stayed in breakers. So I was there for all of Saturday and then into Sunday morning and it was a good trip. It was a, it was a good trip. Well, welcome back to the single writer line. I'm your host, Lunaris. It is July 25th at 1 44 AM. Uh,
00:02:00
Speaker
It's been it's been. It's been an interesting summer so far.

End of Coaster Season and Seasonal Preferences

00:02:05
Speaker
We're getting into the latter half of the coaster season. Well, let me rephrase that. We're getting into the latter half of the summer coaster season. We still got, you know, all of August and then. Well, about half about half of August and then
00:02:28
Speaker
You know we switch on over to weekends only for most for most parks and then we got our Halloween events and then we're pretty much done for the year. You get your Christmas events as well. Those are becoming more and more prevalent, so that's nice, but. It's low depressing man. I know we're in the peak of coaster season. We're starting to get towards announcement season as well, but.
00:02:54
Speaker
It's it makes me a bit sad every time this time of year rolls around. Because I know we still got plenty of time left until. Until God. Until the seasons over, but like I don't want it to end, man, not not just coaster season, but just the heat in general, I am.
00:03:21
Speaker
very much a summer person and I can't stand the cold whatsoever. I would rather have it be 95 degrees outside with 80% humidity than two degrees outside and a wind chill of negative two. Um,
00:03:48
Speaker
I just don't don't like the cold man. I know you can still ride coasters in the winter months, but it's just not. It's not the same, you know. At least for us Ohioans, we have to drive to.
00:04:04
Speaker
Carowinds basically. Carowinds is the nearest park. I take that back. Carowinds or Dollywood is basically your only shot in the offseason. That's relatively

Cedar Point and Kings Island Summer Plans

00:04:18
Speaker
close. We've got Hershey as well. You could book your ass out to Hershey if you wanted to for a weekend.
00:04:27
Speaker
I don't know man, but you know what? We're not going to focus on that right now. We're not going to focus on that right now because we still got. About. Four weeks, five weeks left of. Daily operations at most parks. From 10 to 10. For most amusement parks, so we're going to enjoy it. While it lasts, I need to get.
00:04:55
Speaker
a few more trips into Kings Island this summer before haunt starts rolling around. Because I've only been like I think I've only been 20 times this year, which is not a whole lot for me. I've capped out. I've last year I was there a little over 40 if I'm not wrong.
00:05:21
Speaker
So, but, you know, this is what happens whenever you get into a relationship, which I will gladly sacrifice time for. Speaking of which, Cedar Point. Yeah, I was there with my girlfriend on a Saturday, July 23rd. No, that was the Saturday, July 22nd. My bad. I just kind of want to talk about that trip. That was really damn good.
00:05:52
Speaker
That was it was it was a little. It was a little too perfect as far as as far as weather went and everything. It was 80 degrees. With the humidity, it was like eighty one, eighty two. It wasn't too, too hot. There were some clouds in the sky, but other than that, it was pretty much blue. Not a single chance of rain whatsoever.
00:06:21
Speaker
Which, if you've been to Cedar Point, you know planning a trip to Cedar Point any more than a week out is a pain in the ass. Not because of buying tickets or anything, but because the weather is such a coin flip there.
00:06:40
Speaker
it never decides, it never knows what it wants to do most of the time. So you'll get there and it's like, oh, it's a nice, beautiful day. And then a few hours later, it's pouring down rain, thunder and lightning, everything's closed. It's not fun. Not fun, man. But yeah, it was a good trip. We got there, we checked into Breakers. Breakers was completely booked out.
00:07:10
Speaker
100% full. I don't know how common that is, but I was able to sneakily get a room. I basically just sat on the Cedar Point page on my phone while I was at work. It just kind of clicked refresh every 15, 20 minutes or so until one became available.
00:07:34
Speaker
and immediately booked it. Um, breakers, not cheap, but if you do have the chance to stay there, would definitely recommend, um, just being able to get off your last ride of the night, you get off that steel vengeance and night ride or your Maverick night ride. It's like, damn, that was a really good day. And then you can just walk to your hotel room, order some pizza to your hotel room.
00:07:58
Speaker
Or head on down to the TJI Fridays, grab some cheese fries and some wings. It's a good time. It's really nice. It's really just nice. And not having to drive back either. Even if you live close. Just being able to walk to your hotel room and pass out is great. So definitely worth the
00:08:25
Speaker
extreme costs that breakers is. So we checked in and they said our room wasn't ready. So I was like, all right, fair enough. They're probably, you know, housekeeping has got to clean up, make sure the previous people are are out and didn't make a mess and weren't disgusting. So.
00:08:45
Speaker
We start off we start off our day. We head on over to Millennium Force for our first ride of the day. Classic can't go wrong with the Millennium Force ride. Orion is still better. I don't care what you guys say. Orion is still better.
00:09:04
Speaker
Nothing against Millennium Force. I think it's a great ride. I just think Orion has a more complete, has more complete elements. Millennium Force is a longer ride, yes, but its layout is just turn the ride. I mean, you get on the first drop, you go into an overbank turn, you level out and then go into another turn and then you go into a hill where you don't get any air time.
00:09:33
Speaker
And then you go into a right hand turn into a left hand turn into a right hand turn into another air time Hill, which you do get some air time on. And then you go into a tunnel, which has a left hand turn. You hit another tiny pop of air time.
00:09:53
Speaker
And then you go straight track and then you hit another turn. And then you hit the break. So it's fast. It's fun. It's just not as good. You know, the drop is better on Orion. The elements are better on Orion. It's a shorter ride, but more complete elements. So that is my case. For why Orion is better. Besides that.
00:10:21
Speaker
Still thinking of getting a Millennium Force tattoo. Because Millennium Force is more so the significance of Millennium Force. It was such a game changer in the roller coaster industry and it's still so iconic to this day. Definitely something I've considered. I want to get like the squiggle. Like no words on it. Just the squiggle on my back left shoulder blade. That's it. I want it to be something where like, if you know, you know.
00:10:51
Speaker
Um, it would be like super faint too. I don't want to be super big. I don't want it to be super big. Just enough for you, uh, just enough for you to see it. You know, if I have my shirt off or something. Uh, but anyways, we have Millennium Force and then we decided to walk on over to Maverick. Get our, we got our fast lanes, walked on over to Maverick. God, Maverick kicks ass, dude.
00:11:19
Speaker
It makes me wish that Cedar Fair worked with Intamin more. It's really sad that nothing else like that was built in the chain. Because Intamin has so, so many kick-ass coasters now, and Cedar Fair is just reluctant. Unless, unless by some miracle
00:11:43
Speaker
Um, dragster is done by Intamin, which I highly, highly, highly doubt. And we'll get into that too. Cause I have, I have, uh, some more to talk about when it comes to, when it comes to dragster, not necessarily, well, first off, we got some news about it later. And also just people in the community. I'm not going to name drop anybody, but I want to vent some shit. So, um, but yeah, Intamin, Jesus Christ.
00:12:10
Speaker
I'm at Cedar Point probably 10 times a year. Maverick every time, just I have never had a bad ride on that thing. Never it's.

Maverick Ride Highlights

00:12:21
Speaker
It's so good. That end of that being my girlfriend's favorite. Throughout the entire the entirety of the park, so I I don't blame her there. OK, her favorite coaster of all time. I'm not joking on this is Flight of Fear.
00:12:41
Speaker
at Kings Island. She is an enthusiast, so, you know, that's fine. But she got off Maverick and she got off Steel Vengeance and she said she still likes Flight of Fear more because she likes the launch. So I respect it, but I find it really hard to not like poke fun at her for it. Because it's it's Flight of Fear. It's it's it's just OK, you know.
00:13:09
Speaker
Sometimes you get a really bad ride and then the really good rides on Flight of Fear are just okay. But you know what, to each their own, I'm glad she's riding with me and glad we're able to spend time together. We got on Steel Vengeance afterwards. As always, Steel Vengeance, my number one, beautiful, rode great. She got stapled on that.
00:13:35
Speaker
She bruises easily. So we cut off Steel Vengeance and she was not not really feeling it in her legs because I don't know if you've been on an RMC, but they like to throw you into your lap bar quite a bit. It doesn't necessarily feel good.
00:13:56
Speaker
for her, I guess. But you know, that's understandable. That's not anything she can control. She said she still liked the ride. She just wanted to not have the lap bar so tight next time. So hopefully, hopefully she likes it more in the future. Fingers crossed. I'm going to try and get her back there during holo weekends and we'll see how that goes. We grabbed some food, Grand Pavilion. It was OK. It's it's it's park food. It's not bad. It's not world class, but it's not bad.
00:14:26
Speaker
I'd take it over fast food, I'll say that. We did that, got a gatekeeper ride. We tried to ride Raptor, the fast lane line was way, way too long. Okay, little thing about Cedar Point. Not only do they charge more for their fast lane, but they sell way, way, way too many fast lane passes.
00:14:54
Speaker
It's kind of nuts how many they sell. Why Cedar Point has this issue and Kings Island is beyond me, but I really just don't get it. Like at Kings Island, you can basically walk on anything with Fastlane. You have to wait
00:15:14
Speaker
Maybe maybe five minutes at the very very most at cedar point You're gonna wait a solid 15 minutes for pretty much everything with fast lane just because they sell too many I know that makes them a ton of money because fast lane on a weekend is like 200 bucks a pop but it's They just need to scale back how many they sell because at some points the fast lane line is like
00:15:44
Speaker
35 minute fast lane wait line guys, really? I understand it's a Saturday, but like, come on, you know, if I'm gonna drop that much money on it, it better be worth it. That's not, that's not really fair. You know? All right, fast lane rant over. Gatekeeper was pretty good. I have a huge soft spot for that coaster.
00:16:12
Speaker
It's my favorite wing. I'll be honest with you. It's probably my favorite B&M. Just hands down. It's just so graceful and so much fun. You can't go wrong with a Gatekeeper ride. It's nothing world class, but it's Gatekeeper. It's not the favorite child, but everybody likes it. We tried Raptor. I already mentioned that.
00:16:39
Speaker
We did not end up getting a Raptor ride just due to the fast lane line being that long. And then when we went back later to ride it, it was down and did not reopen from what I'm aware of. So Banshee is better anyways. So we went over to Valor even that fast lane line was way too damn long. We ended up going over to Magnum.
00:17:03
Speaker
Okay, another thing. Magnum, I don't care what anybody says. Magnum is absolutely ass. Everybody's like, ride this row, ride row three, ride row one, ride row 17. And they list off every single row at every single seat. And I give Magnum a chance multiple times every year. And every single year, what is Magnum?
00:17:28
Speaker
absolutely fucking ass i don't care stop it's not good i don't want to get off a roller coaster and feel like my balls just got cut off by the restraint from how awful the air time is on it i i don't i don't get it i don't understand it doesn't feel good it's not fun if you like it
00:17:58
Speaker
You know, more power to you. But don't try to convince me that it's good. It's not. I have very passionate feelings about Magnum. And then we decided to go hit another maverick ride. Good as always. Went to the hotel room, took a short nap, reapplied sunscreen.
00:18:28
Speaker
Went and hit Millennium Force again for like an evening ride. And then we went to... What else did we go to? We basically just did re-rides at that point. We were gonna hit Gemini, that was closed, and we didn't really think about it the rest of the night. It did reopen, but we just wasn't on our priority list. We hit Rougarou as well. It was okay. And overall, just a really good experience, and we wrapped up our night with a
00:18:59
Speaker
Maverick Night Ride. I will not complain whatsoever about a Maverick Night Ride. Getting, hitting that launch and launching out into the dark is such a, such a fun experience. It's such an intense launch too. So I, I really can't complain. And we ended off the night there. We've got a few more Steel Vengeance rides in as well.
00:19:24
Speaker
I feel really bad because after her second Steel Vengeance ride, she was already not feeling it in her legs after Magnum and Steel Vengeance. But after that, that just made things that much worse. So I kind of feel partially responsible because of it.
00:19:48
Speaker
She's used to Kings Island and everything there is pretty floaty. And I take her to Cedar Point and steal vengeance and Magnum just decide to beat the hell out of her legs. So hopefully, hopefully in the future that won't happen. And we'll be able to ride more. Went to bed, woke up on Sunday morning and went back home. And now we are here.
00:20:18
Speaker
So it's, uh, what it's Tuesday now, technically 2 or 3 AM. So that was my Cedar Point trip this past weekend. It was a good time. I was able to spend some time with my girlfriend and, uh, just wanted to get a little trip report for

Cedar Point Dragster News Tease

00:20:35
Speaker
you guys. All right. Speaking of Cedar Point dragster news, more teasers. Those exist. Yeah.
00:20:43
Speaker
They do indeed. I don't know what happened to my notes. They just decided to fall off the face of the earth. But we got some new teasers there. They've got signs all over the fence. So I'll go ahead and read them off. They say get revved up. So August 1st, 2023 is
00:21:06
Speaker
the date that they have announced. I'm assuming it's an announcement date. They haven't officially said that, but I mean, it's what else is it going to be? It's not going to reopen August 1st, 2023. But, uh, you know, for 2024 good announcement date, I will, uh, I will keep you guys posted on what happens there.
00:21:30
Speaker
Uh, the rev has three V's in it, which people are thinking me stands for the multi-launch as in the, you launch towards the backwards and launch forwards again. Another one says smoke the competition. Another one says a new formula for thrills, which we already saw in that, uh, teaser video back in January, February, one of the two.
00:21:53
Speaker
Another one says drive the sky and no one says accelerate your adrenaline. So cool, cool to see. And while we're on the topic of dragster, I want to talk about some people in the community that really under my skin, people who post videos talking about dragster in ways that is unrealistic.
00:22:16
Speaker
So there's quite a few YouTube channels. There's one in particular that I'm not going to mention, but there's quite a few YouTube channels that post quite a bit of dragster content and use the most just clickbaity of stuff. I do want to give one good example. Lake Erie Lifestyles, they post
00:22:40
Speaker
they tell you exactly what they are posting and they do not BS you whatsoever. And I absolutely love that. I understand whenever you have a YouTube channel, you need to get clicks, but don't post something that is super in gen, disingenuous. Like where I'm going to post a picture, like my thumb, like my dragster thumbnail about it taking the height and speed record back and it being,
00:23:09
Speaker
470 something feet tall and 150 miles an hour. Whenever I don't really believe that in the first place just to get clicks.
00:23:18
Speaker
Like, be honest with your audience. It's so scummy. And just don't, don't fucking do that. Please. I lose all respect for you whenever you do that. And I feel like a lot of people do as well. I know you need the clicks. I get it. But you can make a interesting thumbnail without being clickbaity.
00:23:46
Speaker
You can make an intriguing and interesting thumbnail without being clickbaity. You know it. I know it. So fucking stop. Please. The love of God. All right. Dragster rant. Dragster rant over. Just wanted to just want to talk about that because there is some YouTubers in the community that are making a lot of predictions.
00:24:14
Speaker
about theme parks, and it's just stupid. It's ridiculous. All right. Other news. My notes got deleted. I already said that, but that's a little frustrating. Fury has completed its 500 test cycles
00:24:39
Speaker
And the column has been replaced. No announcement date for when it is set to reopen, but. Still, that is some great news where we're getting places as as far as that goes. You know. It's a it's getting there, so hopefully hopefully it'll be reopened by like what August?

Fury Reopening Updates

00:25:06
Speaker
I would be surprised if it doesn't reopen in August,
00:25:09
Speaker
Fury has been making incredible strides to get this thing reopened. Apparently they're having issues with Nighthawk being down and Vortex is down as well. So really all you got open is as far as major coasters go is Intimidator and
00:25:31
Speaker
Copperhead strike which are two decent coasters, but it's not fury which is their headliner and what people go to carowinds for so I can see why the Russian to get this done and they have Gotten way more done way quicker than I thought they were going to I can tell you that right now Where are my notes about that park opening up? I've literally just just had this pulled up and now this is
00:26:02
Speaker
Now it's just gonna not work. It's just not gonna work. Wonderful. Now I gotta look it up. Because I just saw a post about it. Here we go.

New Amusement Park Announcement for Oklahoma

00:26:21
Speaker
American Heartland Theme Park and Resort announced for Northeastern Oklahoma
00:26:27
Speaker
slated to open in 2026. So we're getting a new amusement park. In the United States, Northeastern Oklahoma. Good to see the concept art they've posted. Is. It looks promising. That's going to be on Route 66. It's going to cost $2 billion going to be over 1000 acres.
00:26:54
Speaker
Uh, with the concept art they're showing, they're showing a wooden, they haven't, okay. They haven't mentioned any coaster specifically, but they, uh, there is a few coasters in the concept art. They have a, like a traditional wooden coaster. They have what looks like some sort of launch coaster, um, going through a building, going through a building. So that'll be fun.
00:27:20
Speaker
Apparently it's going to have six themed lands called Great Plains, Bayou Bay, Big Timber Falls, Stony Point Harbor, Liberty Village and Electropolis. So I can tell you right now that if this park is even somewhat promising, I'm going to be getting my butt out there in 2026 when it opens.
00:27:44
Speaker
They're going to have a 300 room hotel and an indoor water park as well. So. I mean, for $2 billion, you better be getting you better be getting your money's worth on this thing. So I'm glad we're finally getting something new. We haven't seen a whole lot of we haven't seen any parks open up for.
00:28:09
Speaker
quite a while here in the United States. So good to finally see it. That's pretty much it as far as news goes. Oh, I forgot to mention, oh yeah, Daugherty Park, sorry, Daugherty Park has an announcement coming up here as well. I totally forgot about that. Let me pull that up as well. I typically have a bunch of notes
00:28:35
Speaker
pre-planned for this and I don't know what the hell happened. So, you know, that's that's cool. Dornie Park announcement. As I accidentally enter full screen.

Dornie Park's Anticipated Announcement

00:29:00
Speaker
Yeah, here we go.
00:29:05
Speaker
Dornie Park put out a teaser that says August 10th on their social media. So I'm pretty sure, isn't this the dive coaster that El Toro Ryan talked about a while back whenever they had that whole meeting with the state of Pennsylvania?
00:29:26
Speaker
Pretty sure it is. I trust Altero Ryan's view on things. I mean he was looking up those footers and that's what he was saying and You know, I trust him. So I Will take his word for it. That's pretty much it as far as news goes though Not a whole lot Until until August once we start getting those announcements out we're gonna have a
00:29:50
Speaker
solidly long episodes once August starts to roll around. So I apologize for the late episode this week. I'm not, I'm not sorry. I really, I really, I'm really not sorry. I was having fun. Okay. I was riding coasters and spending time with my girlfriend. So, uh, I hope you all have a great week. This episode is going to be coming out on Tuesday and, uh, we will see you next time in the single rider.
