Introduction to Purple Door Podcast

00:00:05
Speaker
Well, hello and welcome to the latest episode of the Purple Door Podcast, a Friends Rewatch Pod. I'm your host, Alistair, alongside my good friend, Deanne. Deanne, how are you today?
00:00:16
Speaker
Just peachy keen. I'm excited to be recording, talking about some Friends episodes. It's just great. How are you, Al? Doing wonderful. Yeah, we haven't recorded in a couple of weeks. I was out of town last weekend.
00:00:31
Speaker
um So we've missed it. We've missed talking about friends. And we're both kind of running on empties. the end of the school year. We're both kind of drained. But this is a little pick-me-up for us today. So I'm pretty excited about that.
00:00:46
Speaker
um

Review of 'The One with the Fake Monica'

00:00:47
Speaker
Let's see. Yeah, today we're going to be reviewing the one with the fake Monica. So I'm pretty excited to get stuck into this way. It's certainly an episode that every Friends fan knows pretty well.
00:00:59
Speaker
um I want to talk about something before we get stuck into Bamboozled, because I will forget if we don't. I want to give a big shout out to Claudia Shear. She is the lady who plays what we know as fake Monica. She doesn't actually have, and we don't find out her real name.
00:01:16
Speaker
Or, you know, the character's name ever in the episode.

Spotlight on Claudia Shear

00:01:19
Speaker
But I reached out to her and she responded to me pretty quickly. She is unable to join us for an interview. um I'll tell you why just a second. But she sent several messages, now follows the podcast, I believe, on Instagram, but was really nice and just responded, took time out of her day.
00:01:38
Speaker
to send some replies. So we're super, super thankful for that. But she is really busy rehearsing for a new play called The Recipe that is going to be at, hope I get the pronunciation right, La Jolla Playhouse in Los Angeles in the 2026 season. and La Jolla. I was guessing it might be La Jolla after I said it. Yeah.
00:01:58
Speaker
La Jolla Playhouse. Okay. In the 2026 in LA. Awesome. It's called The Recipe and she wrote and created this play all about Julia Child. ah Wow! And she's a really interesting character in herself. So I can only imagine that this play is going to be phenomenal.
00:02:16
Speaker
um So definitely wanted to give a shout out to Claudia because she took the time ah to send us some messages and maybe one day we'll be able to get her on um on the podcast but we really really appreciate her taking the time um to be in touch so if you're in Los Angeles if you like going to plays check out the recipe at La Jolla next season 2026 man I think I want to take a trip to La Jolla love that area in California oh my goodness yes
00:02:48
Speaker
And what I wonder, there must be some truth to her amazing spirit and all that, right? Exactly. Nice, solid, smart lady. That's awesome. Exactly. Purple Door podcast road trip or something.
00:03:02
Speaker
Yes. Yeah. That could be so much fun. Right. Okay. We'll do the Warner Brothers tour studio and we'll go to this play and we'll do all sorts of amazing things. Yes.
00:03:14
Speaker
Oh, this is great. Okay. I'm going to start saving money now. I'm in. I'm in. Okay.

Friends Trivia Game

00:03:19
Speaker
All right. not save money, but in the meantime, let's do something that's free. Let's play a good game of bamboozled. That's my best segue I've got.
00:03:28
Speaker
i'm I'm just saying that was great. That was great. I appreciate it. We try. we try. All right. Can I go first? Please. ah yeah i go okay I think I have eight questions. I'd for you to go first.
00:03:40
Speaker
I've got nine. Excellent. so there you go first one First one. Which friend doesn't say goodbye to Marcel at the airport?
00:03:53
Speaker
That's a great question. all right I have to do a little process for elimination. I know Chandler is there.
00:04:02
Speaker
Obviously Ross is there. I know Phoebe's there.
00:04:09
Speaker
Rachel is there.
00:04:13
Speaker
So that leaves us Joey and Monica. I think I know who it is, but let me see. What did Joe? I feel like Joey was there. So that's going to make it Monica for me.
00:04:26
Speaker
That is correct. Nice job. Okay. oh hey And so for me, you remember whenever our Marcel very first shows up and then we had this whole conversation about Monica being scared of Marcel, yeah not a fan?
00:04:39
Speaker
I feel like it's not a coincidence. So she's at tap class, but I feel like it's not a coincidence that she missed that. She's not showing up for that. She doesn't have anything nice to say to Marcel. No, she does not. Right. All right Good question, though. I like that one.
00:04:56
Speaker
All right, my first one for you is when Chandler tricks Joey into changing his name to Joseph Stalin, which is brilliant. What two plays does he reference when announcing his new name?
00:05:08
Speaker
and That's one of mine. Oh, wait, no, it's not. ah It's Joseph Stalin is the fiddler on the roof. Yes. And Bye Bye Birdie. Sorry. Two for two. yeah Yes. And Bye Bye Birdie was at the end of that other episode.
00:05:23
Speaker
Whenever she was drawing the hand. Yes. That's a bird. Yes. So I thought that was a funny connection. Drew. That's right. I've forgotten about that connection.
00:05:35
Speaker
That's it. All right. Fire away. All right. What did Monica spend $70 on? All right.
00:05:44
Speaker
all right
00:05:48
Speaker
Let me think this through.
00:05:53
Speaker
I can't remember if I've got the right episode or not. is it's So my answer, I'll tell you in a second, is either what Monica bought or it's what Chandler bought and shows Kathy much later seen.
00:06:07
Speaker
So this must be the Wonder Mop. It is the Wonder Mop. The Wonder Mop. Nice job. And he calls her a geek. That's right. What geek over to that or something? That's right. I just i was thinking there's a scene later on where Chandler and Kathy watch the show at like three in the morning.
00:06:26
Speaker
And she's like, I love that broom or I love that something. And he has it. And I think it might be a mop as well. Oh, interesting. But we'll get to that. We'll get to that. Yeah, we will. Okay.
00:06:38
Speaker
All right. Complete this line for me. You don't observe a dance class. You dance a dance class. That's one of those things that goes around our house a bit.
00:06:51
Speaker
Yep. big Yes, yes. All right. This one's ugly and I am sorry. Okay. What color are Joey and Chandler's mugs? What colors are Joey and Chandler's mugs?
00:07:06
Speaker
When they're trying to come up with the stage name.
00:07:11
Speaker
I have no idea. They are. Go ahead. Oh, red and yellow. Red and yellow. I was going to guess. Oh, good guess. Green and blue. Oh, green and blue. Green and blue. they're They're in that scene so many times. And then everybody, you know, people are coming in and going out. And those mugs are there.
00:07:31
Speaker
And they're bright. So i they caught my eye. Noted. I like that question. All right. What does the instructor at the TAP class say was left lying around after the previous lesson?
00:07:47
Speaker
And then she goes, let's not make this happen again. i'm not letting Yeah. And then they're like, she could be you. Yes. um Was it, was bottles or boxes or, no you know, bags?
00:08:04
Speaker
No. i don't I give up. It was a little obscure. It was empty yogurt containers. Oh, how random. Yeah, well, a bit random. I could see maybe one, but it didn't seem like an after tap dance snack for most people.
00:08:20
Speaker
No, that's disgusting. Very after you've been sweating. That's gross. All right, so you've mentioned, we've mentioned two of the plays um that are brought up in this episode there are two more can you name either one of them wow okay
00:08:48
Speaker
so is one of them where joey auditions in the final scene do we have that yeah okay you know i've got no idea i didn't know what that then I should have. ka Do you remember where Monica and Manana, what they auditioned for? They're going to audition for Cats because that's one of my questions. Of course. yeah There you go.
00:09:13
Speaker
And then so Romeo and Juliet is in the last scene. like That's right. Mercutio. And then whenever the guy's talking about a glove and blah, blah, blah, that whole line from.
00:09:24
Speaker
That's right. I should have called that. I remember that now. Well, you've taken my my next question, so I'll skip on to the next one. What three zoos are mentioned in this episode? and Okay, there's San Diego.
00:09:41
Speaker
Yep. There's Miami. That's just two blocks from the beach. It's a total party zoo. Party zoo. And then Scranton. Yes. That was their safety zoo. Lovely foreshadowing to the office. Not intentional at all. Yes.
00:09:55
Speaker
Yes. Yeah. Who knew? wonder why they chose s Scranton of all places. All right. so Let's see. Go ahead. agree What Robin Williams movies are mentioned in this episode?
00:10:14
Speaker
Wow. Okay. I may have the wrong episode, but as Mrs. Doubtfire mentioned, okay, okay, I knew that was, the problem is I've watched two episodes of Friends today, my brain's all mush.
00:10:27
Speaker
Same, same. Right? Okay. So Robin Williams. I'm having some very, very intentionally compartmentalized. Yes. Oh, let's think. So there's that.
00:10:40
Speaker
So was it in the same scene? It was. Yeah. Okay. Because they they're talking. Whoa. The context has slightly escaped me. um They're talking along about why Monica, ah fake Monica is the way that fake Monica is.
00:10:59
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Because she watched this movie and then the fact she'd wasted time. Yeah. Two hours of her life. She'll never get back. Which is terrible because I loved this movie. You're going to have to tell me the name of the movie. Dead Poets Society. ah Did you see that?
00:11:16
Speaker
You already know I haven't seen it. I'm such a letdown when it comes to movies. Such a letdown. Okay, but that's okay. We're going to make you a list. and it's it Yes. this is A League of Their Own is on there. You've seen Mrs. Doubtfire?
00:11:33
Speaker
I have seen Mrs. Duckfire. Good, good. But we're going to put Dead Poets Society. Oh, have you seen the Ron Clark story? No, with ah Matthew Perry. i It's like, that's top of my list to see. ah mean Okay.
00:11:47
Speaker
I saw a clip from it today and I was like, God, that was such a good movie, man. And then I was thinking about it and everything. And I'm like, wait a minute, that's Matthew Perry. Oh my God.
00:11:58
Speaker
That's friends. Like there's that connection. But, like, that is one of, oh, man, it's a good one. Okay. Yeah, that's, like, i it's funny. Like, I don't read a lot of, like, teaching books and things for fun.
00:12:13
Speaker
Like, I read them if i'm researching or for work, of course. But I do like, like, good teaching-related movies. Like, um yeah oh, what's the poetry one with Jennifer Gardner? um Oh, ah Free...
00:12:26
Speaker
Freedom Writers, not poetry, Freedom Writers. Freedom Writers, yeah. And then there's the one that was set in the early 1900s, I think. It's ah like a historical black college with the poetry writers, I think, Denzel Washington.
00:12:42
Speaker
right. don't know that one. It's going to drive me crazy. Oh, no, it's The debating the Great Debaters, not poetry. Oh. Have you ever, you've never seen The Great Debaters? I haven't. That'll go on my list.
00:12:56
Speaker
powerful movie that's a great one i think it's all a true story i think it's true okay um and then did you see the one um lean on me nope not seen lean on me that one's so good too all right lena ah right i mean i'm adding to my list okay what the the debaters the great debaters If I recall, even though your kids are like a little older, probably still not a kid-friendly movie.
00:13:28
Speaker
If I recall, because they deal with some kind of tough issues in the South 100 plus years ago sort of thing. Yeah. If I recall correctly, I just remember being a super, super powerful movie.
00:13:43
Speaker
Okay. All right. Yeah, 2007 and pretty, yeah, it was inspired by a true story. Pretty much anything with Denzel Washington and i mean... Yeah, he's so good.
00:13:56
Speaker
So good. like there's some movies that are to me not necessarily great, but he just elevates them. oh Man on Fire, one of my favorite movies of all time. Yes.
00:14:06
Speaker
Have you seen that one? I have. It's not a fan. It's not a kind of movie. I love that. um well ah So many. So many. But that that's one that stands out to me.
00:14:17
Speaker
that Did you ever see the one where he's the cop? And he's, I'm trying to think, and he's trying to catch the serial killer.
00:14:29
Speaker
And it ends up being, oh, God, it was so scary. It was so good. don't think so. All right, I'll figure it out. I took us off on a silly rabbit trail.
00:14:41
Speaker
We were off on a tangent. God, there's one That song, time is on my side. Yes, it is. That song? And that's how you knew. and it ended up being a, well, I don't want to ruin it.
00:14:55
Speaker
Nevermind. Anyway, I'll send you another one. It's very creepy. It's great. And he is excellent. All right. All right. So yeah, last recommendation. Denzel Washington, the one where his son is in the hospital and needs a heart transplant.
00:15:11
Speaker
Oh, that one's so good too. So good. And he makes it. It's a great, it's good movie, but he, man, so good. But yeah, forget the name of it. That's just, just, all right. You can tell we haven't spoken in a couple of weeks.
00:15:23
Speaker
The movie recommendation podcast side chat. It's coming. It's coming. All right. I think it's your turn. All right. This one, I wish, going to ask you question. I wish we could dig into it a little more because I find this great.
00:15:38
Speaker
But when Ross is opening the letter from the Scranton Zoo, what is Phoebe doing on the couch?
00:15:49
Speaker
And this is this is a bit unfair. But she's not on the couch though. Isn't she sitting in the floor at the table? She's at the table. I thought she was on the couch. She was doing an activity.
00:16:03
Speaker
It wasn't a crossword puzzle, was it? It was not. This is on the level, if not worse, than your your cup question was fine. Oh, right yeah okay, great. Okay, then I'm not going to worry about this too much.
00:16:16
Speaker
Go, tell me. What is she doing? She was playing a Game Boy.
00:16:22
Speaker
like and um it It kind of looked like maybe Tetris in the back, but you couldn't really tell. And it was just nostalgia. Like the the old Game Boy? The gray rectangle.
00:16:33
Speaker
I can't believe I didn't see that. Right. When you see it, it jumps out at you because you're like, that's nostalgia overload. Wow. It's just playing on a Game Boy on the couch.
00:16:46
Speaker
Okay. All right.

Personal Anecdotes and Reflections

00:16:49
Speaker
All right. You're up. When Monica is drunk, Monana is drunk. Yes. What does she drink and where is it from?
00:17:02
Speaker
Water straight from the kitchen tap is what I'm thinking. That's right. That's it. Because water rules. what what Yes, it does, but where have you been? right, this question I think you'll know the answer to immediately, but I just love the the way it is said.
00:17:20
Speaker
What does Phoebe suggest would be a good stage name for Joey? Oh, Flame Boy. Flame Boy. I just love the way she says it. Yeah, because there's a perfect pause where she is like legitimately thinking about yeah about what a great stage name for him would be. 100%. Rainboy.
00:17:42
Speaker
Yeah, the delivery of it is epic. All right, your question. All right, where is fake Monica taken when she was arrested? She goes to, um um ahta I've got this, Riker Island, the prison, the penitentiary. So I remember seeing that and thinking, yeah, that's a real place. That's a real place. like that's a real A real deal.
00:18:08
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. Oh, yes. Your turn. I've got more question for you. Okay. All right. In the final scene in the dance studio, how many dancers are there, not including Monica or the instructor?
00:18:25
Speaker
And I'll give you one either way. Wow! Do you know that I, whenever I've watched this the second time, I was trying to count because there were more people in jeans in this episode than any other episode.
00:18:42
Speaker
And so I was like, oh, and then there's that tall guy. And, but yeah, that's so funny. Uh, eight.
00:18:54
Speaker
Well, the answer was nine, but said one either way. So that's, look at I will take it. Yes. Okay. In the final scene.
00:19:07
Speaker
Right. The final, final scene with the audition. How many people are casting? How many people are there casting for the parts?
00:19:20
Speaker
Well, I have comments on this and now I'm second guessing, but I know there is there's three, but there could be more. Is it just three? Okay. Yes. All right. All right. We will talk about that later on.
00:19:35
Speaker
Okay. I do have one more question and it's unfair, but it might not be unfair. So, you know, the scene where Monica and Rachel and Manana are there and they're talking about um how they got thrown out of the hotel and because the Lakers or whoever were there on the sixth floor.
00:20:00
Speaker
And then Monica in, or, and then Rachel's like, well, y'all, you know, whatever. And I'm going to go pour coffee for strangers. And she leaves. And then she goes, ah Monica, fake Monica goes into the whole thing about why she is the way that she is.
00:20:17
Speaker
Right. Right. ah I will say part of, part of that scene I didn't see. So that must be a DVD. Oh, really? About the Lakers. That's not on the street. Well, I don't know if it was the Lakers, but there was a,
00:20:30
Speaker
A whole basketball team. Yeah. definite Okay, well, then that'll make our conversation about that scene a little interesting. Good, but... um Okay, well, yeah, because then that means that the scene wasn't as long, so you may not have even noticed.
00:20:46
Speaker
But real Monica, what is she doing during that entire scene?
00:20:53
Speaker
I can picture her sitting at the kitchen table. Yeah, yeah. So... I don't know. What could she? I have no idea.
00:21:04
Speaker
I can picture She's buttering like Italian bread the entire time. Interesting. What is an interesting choice that they've made to have her do that. Right.
00:21:16
Speaker
Because fake Monica's cooking something at the stove. But if that scene was cut down, then it wouldn't have seemed so excessive.
00:21:28
Speaker
Right. It wouldn't have been anything that you noticed. But like for me, I was like, oh my God, why is it taking you so long to do that? Right, to butter this bread. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. i'll Again, we'll have to go back and have a look at that. We're bouncing between kind of the DVDs and the stream, just depending on kind of what we're doing.
00:21:48
Speaker
Yes. Now, I understand. Is that right? That I have an entire scene, you don't.
00:21:55
Speaker
Oh, forgot about that. I think so. I think this is one of those episodes where, yes, not just cut a few seconds. It's a whole scene. So we'll find out. All right. Yeah, so when we're going through the scenes, obviously jump in and interrupt me if I skip over an entire scene.
00:22:10
Speaker
Oh, don't you worry, Al. I've got no doubt. i have I've just turned over my notes and men I need to learn a lesson because my first comment is about the wonder mop um here. When you asked that question, I was struggling with it. It's in my notes.
00:22:25
Speaker
ah Yeah, because we start in the girls' apartment and they're going through Monica's. No, we don't. Okay, this it. No, don't. Talk to me. Talk All right. So in the opening scene on the DVD, right Monica is at lunch with her mom. That's it.
00:22:39
Speaker
And they just finished lunch and her and she's telling her mom, Basically, can we ever have any time where we aren't talking about my hair or the way I'm dressed or my career?
00:22:52
Speaker
And then her mom goes to start something and she's like, or who I'm dating. and um And then the guy comes over and Monica goes to pay. And then her mom starts to tell her, you know, well, I'll pay because what they pay you. And and she's just like, stop.
00:23:08
Speaker
Well, then the guy comes back and says that Monica's card has been declined. ah And that's how it it goes into the next scene where they're in the girl's apartment and they're talking about how I can't believe somebody stole my card.
00:23:24
Speaker
Interesting. But yeah, I mean, that that whole scene is just another one where Yeah, man, Judy's just judgy and... Not a fan of Judy, generally speaking.
00:23:39
Speaker
Yeah. yeah jack's Jack's my guy. I think Jack's awesome. Judy, not so much. they're They're a nice little compliment to each other. That's it. That's it. Yeah. But, um yeah, and they're at some little restaurant and it looks like a patio type thing but they're not outside like it's wicker furniture it's weird no but yeah nice fancy lunch so that was the first scene so that's the true first scene the uh the streaming first scene or second scene on the dvd yeah they're in the apartment going through monica's credit card statement and that's where chandler makes fun of the thief calls the thief a geek for spending 69.99 on the wonder mop yes
00:24:28
Speaker
Yeah, and Marcel is causing trouble. You know, we can see at the beginning that, yeah, he's starting to hump the lamp and then Rachel's curious George doll who's no longer curious. No longer curious. Now, my question for you, have you ever had your credit card stolen?
00:24:44
Speaker
Man, I'm scared to answer this. So I'm going to knock on wood. and I see. Witnessed you, knocked on wood. All right, good. Yeah. Yes, I have not, thank goodness.
00:24:55
Speaker
And I, oh, like I'm scared to even put out in the universe the things that I have managed to not, not, I've i've lost my credit cards plenty of times.
00:25:08
Speaker
Right. Which is terrible all on a whole different irresponsible level. Right. But thankfully, I did have somebody who hacked my Apple ID once and that was retail.
00:25:22
Speaker
They kept changing my name to something random and saying I lived in like Taiwan or somewhere. now interesting That is very rude. We don't need any of that.
00:25:33
Speaker
Now, mine was stolen years and years ago online, like, and mean, not too long after we started buying things online. Because on my statement, I saw um somebody in the UK went to a baker's and bought a lot of cakes, which is a really interesting choice, and then a TV.
00:25:56
Speaker
TV. They needed something to do while they ate their cakes. Yeah, I guess it was bizarre. And I'll never forget that. It was this local bakery and then, you know, the electronics place bought the TV, I think. And then somebody's stolen, I think,
00:26:13
Speaker
I think it might even been my Apple ID. We weren't really sure if it was that or the credit card. So we just kind of reset both. But suddenly I was having these Apple charges of just like a dollar or two every day, like enough so you don't really notice it.
00:26:28
Speaker
And suddenly I looked at my statement and I was like, there's $100 worth of charges here over six weeks. Wow. So, you know, just sort of cancelled and reset everything.
00:26:39
Speaker
But thankfully, that's it. But speaking of that, I mean, I guess this would result in a 30-second episode. But why doesn't Monica just cancel the card?
00:26:50
Speaker
Right. Right. She allows fake Monica to continue to use it. Yeah. ah Yeah. It's a good, valid question. Yeah. yeah i mean, but I guess if it's already maxed out,
00:27:05
Speaker
Oh, that's true. yeah that Well, because it gets declined at the restaurant. Yes, I didn't know that. So that kind of answers that question a bit. That's interesting because. Yeah, but I guess she had probably already paid for the tap classes.
00:27:24
Speaker
Yeah, because then. OK, huh? Yeah, that does kind of make sense now. Interesting. Well, we're still in the girl's apartment. Monica can't sleep. She's still reading her statement and is having, it's not exactly a midlife crisis, but she's saying that this lady or this person's life is better than own. She's living my life and she's doing it better than me. Right. You know, she's art supplies, classes at the new school.
00:27:52
Speaker
Right. Tickets to plays, clothing. living a good life. I think if somebody stole your credit card and was doing all these things, there would be a little part of you that would go, wonder what it would be like to do this stuff.
00:28:07
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Yeah, I could definitely see that. Watching, i was going to say, just even watching this episode and digging into it, I'm thinking, man, like, I need to do more of and, you know.
00:28:23
Speaker
Right. like wouldn't it be Wouldn't it be awesome just to have, I don't know. Yeah, that freedom spirit. Well, even like things like this podcast, that's why we started this year because i was like, this is the year to try new things.
00:28:37
Speaker
You know, we've just we've got to do that. We have to. live our life a little bit like fake Monica, but not steal people's credit cards or be a criminal. Yes. Yeah. yeah No, we won't do that. But no being being adventurous and taking chances are always a good thing.
00:28:53
Speaker
um We go on over to Central Park, might be my favorite scene of the show where Joey's trying to come up with his new name. You know, come up with the stage name. We we touched on this in Bamboozled, um where Chandler manages to, oh, he's not trying to trick him.
00:29:11
Speaker
But he just stumbles into this and goes with it. the The Stalin. swiz Switzerland wouldn't work. um It did occur to me. Joey doesn't have a stage name, I don't think, any point, even when he goes through all his acting things. He's just always Joey Trudy. Well, he does at the very last scene.
00:29:31
Speaker
That's right. He does. he does. yeah that's a good one. But yeah, Joseph Stalin. That's right. That one was cracking me up. that He needs something more neutral.
00:29:44
Speaker
And I love yeah like the look on Chandler's face when he realizes that Joey doesn't know Stalin. ahha Just brilliant acting. Absolutely fantastic.
00:29:55
Speaker
ah yeah might be one of might Might be my favorite scene actually in the episode. um We wander back upstairs to the girl's apartment and Phoebe and Rachel walk in and Monica finds out who or finds out that the person stole her card is doing the tap glasses.
00:30:11
Speaker
Okay. hey Let's talk about two things right here because I think that it was taken out of yours, but I could be mistaken. Right. But um whenever she's on the phone with the people and she says she's had a recent head injury. That was taken out.
00:30:29
Speaker
Okay. So she's like, you know, I was just wondering what classes is it that I'm taking? And then it's quiet. And then she says, well, um, Oh, what'd she say? She said, like, well, I've had a recent head injury and it makes me forget dates and times.
00:30:48
Speaker
And then she screams barbecue. And then she goes, oh, I'm sorry, see? i that's And then that's whatever they told her it was the tap class. Yeah, that few seconds was cut out.
00:31:00
Speaker
Yeah, it was funny, though, because I was like, that's quick thinking on her part, you know, to figure it out. Have you ever been to a dance class of any sort? I was hoping you were going to ask me that. I was going to ask you it if it if I didn't.
00:31:17
Speaker
And I have taken an adult tap class. Like whenever I was little, I took, you know, all the dance classes. Right. And then I got, and whenever I got to be a teenager, i focused on like drill team and the, that, that kind of dance and did that through high school. And then I, in college, I did aerobics and,
00:31:38
Speaker
you know, aerobic dancing and whatever. And then after, i think it was before I had George, but after I had Fred, um I took a tap class um over at the local dance studio, like, and it was so much fun and it was so silly. And um yeah do you you know, like Kyle and Mariah Wilbert?
00:32:03
Speaker
Oh yeah, I know that. Yes. no Okay. So Mariah took the class too. And so, and then and we took it and there was probably like six of us and I just would laugh the entire time, the whole time, because ah tap I had to take it since I was five, but I had my adult tap shoes and I was tapping and we did like a little thing at the recital and it was so fun.
00:32:32
Speaker
And then i went back to the next class, the next season, and then all of a sudden it was all these adults who are really good dancers. We don't want that. Yeah, no, i know I'm not here for that because, you know, I was just doing it for fun.
00:32:49
Speaker
And then what so one day we'll post a video of you flesh mobbing. Oh, and that. That's my men my most recent, and that's because of Kate.
00:33:01
Speaker
Yes, Kate got kate aol always wanted to do Flash Bob, got Deanne involved and some others. and yeah And yeah. Now I've done like four or five. Right. And so I'm ah patiently waiting for that season because I think we're going to do one in July.
00:33:18
Speaker
Right. and ah But yeah, i yeah. much fun. That's very true. Very true. Well, i want I'm going tell you very guys a very quick story that just happened to me. last well so So I went back to Scotland last week.
00:33:37
Speaker
And when I was in ah and London at Heathrow Airport, standing there charging my phone, and this lovely lady came up beside me and so and she plugged in her charger into the...
00:33:49
Speaker
charging port, the plug. And then kind of, she was funny because she was in her 80s and she kind of stuck it in her ear and went and looked at me and went, do you think this will work? Which I thought was a really funny thing to say.
00:34:00
Speaker
and she turned out to be this lovely, lovely sweet lady. who, an English lady, has lived in the Philadelphia area since the 60s. um Oddly enough, she is from CB's hometown, New Jersey.
00:34:13
Speaker
ah very yeah A complete coincidence. it's and but's from Well, she's from Newcastle in England. but um has lived in Cherry Hill, New Jersey for decades upon decades.
00:34:24
Speaker
um So when she was 60, her husband unfortunately passed away. And she said, you know, said to herself, like, this is either the beginning of the end for me or I can, you know, do something new in life.
00:34:37
Speaker
And she'd always wanted to ballroom dance. So she has now been ballroom dancing for over 20 years. Awesome. And this won't really mean anything to anyone outside the UK unless you've seen the film Shall We Dance that had Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez in it. Oh, yeah.
00:34:55
Speaker
Okay, so it's mentioned in there. She had recently just gone with her instructor to Blackpool which is like the the center of the universe for ballroom dancing, a town in northwest England, Blackpool.
00:35:08
Speaker
And she'd recently gone because they had the opportunity to dance on this famous floor underneath the famous chandelier. Wow. like Like it was a year or two ago, so about when she was 18, she showed me some pictures, and I took a picture of her picture.
00:35:23
Speaker
um But she was like, it was this new lease on life. She just, I'm going to learn how to dance. I've always wanted to learn. um there you go i love that yeah and she kind of accredits her health and sprightly attitude to just not slowing down when she could have so yeah complete tangent but it was just one of those ladies we had a five-minute conversation and i left going what just a wonderful person well and it affected yeah i love that and now we're telling the story um on the podcast
00:35:55
Speaker
She's so Good for her. Yeah, it was really just like, good people, good people. But she decides she's going to go, Monica, to the dance class, to the tap class.
00:36:05
Speaker
um And that's the next scene for me. um Because the girls, they want to just observe. And then the dancer says, you dance, so dance class. Yes. Phoebe's all into it in very Phoebe fashion. Yes, she is.
00:36:19
Speaker
Like the way she dances, huge flash forward, but not a plot twist or a spoiler. But when she dances for Chandler, when they're kind of, you know, kind it reminds me of that lot.
00:36:35
Speaker
Just her style. Well, she's so hippie-ish. I don't know if that's an accurate description of that, but just, you know, just, oh, I can't, like interpretive dance ah you've not seen romey and michelle's high school reunion no write it down write it down okay under me yep because that's another one where she there's a great scene in that movie where she's dancing and and yes but she is awesome and she's just like
00:37:11
Speaker
not looking like anybody else around her. I got this. It's like, yeah, yeah you do, girl. Yeah, you do. Go on. i love it. I do. Yeah, love Phoebe's, that hippie side that comes out.
00:37:27
Speaker
But ah the girls have to partner up and Monica gets left out until fake Monica comes in.

Exploration of Language and Travel

00:37:34
Speaker
um And then Monica has to pretend her name is Monana.
00:37:38
Speaker
yeah Pennsylvania dutch Dutch. This might be, well, it is. It's completely useless trivia that nobody cares about, but I thought it was interesting when I had learned this. You're in Pennsylvania, you're the Pennsylvania Dutch, like the word Dutch comes from?
00:37:54
Speaker
Like in this context? Because it's not it's not the Dutch, it's not actually Dutch. No. No, it's ah an alteration of Deutsch because it's German.
00:38:05
Speaker
So that's because that's what the Amish and they speak German. So it was originally Pennsylvania Deutsch, which makes a lot more sense. It's just blended sort over into Dutch, even though it's not Dutch at all.
00:38:18
Speaker
Wow! Huh! Yeah, oh i I always wondered why they were the Pennsylvania they Dutch when they don't speak Dutch. Now, I'm sure originally, if we go back a thousand years, Dutch and Deutsch, very similar words, and neighbouring countries.
00:38:33
Speaker
But, right yeah, it was they were the Pennsylvania Deutsch. Every day is Every day is a school day. School day. There you go. Yes. Yes.
00:38:46
Speaker
But I feel like I, did I interrupt you there? i feel maybe No, I thought you were going to say, because you know how then fake Monica says the line and it's in Dutch.
00:38:57
Speaker
yeah And did you know what she was saying? You know, I very quickly looked, saw thing that said it was real Dutch. You know, she wasn't, but don't remember what it was. I don't know if saw it. It was like, shall we dance? Or can I have this dance? Oh, beautiful. She was asking her to dance.
00:39:15
Speaker
Yeah, but we went we went to Holland last summer and I kind knew this already. It was really cool to see. Like, it would be very odd for her to live there for three years and learn the language unless you really wanted to.
00:39:29
Speaker
Because not only does everybody speak English, they don't expect you to speak Dutch or to learn it. Like in other countries, they would expect you to try and assimilate with the language a bit. but nice And we asked i asked a couple of Dutch people about this. They're like, no, it's a complicated, difficult language.
00:39:46
Speaker
We don't expect visitors or even people that move here to necessarily learn it. um just It was just a slightly different attitude than some other places where they're like, yeah, if you come to visit for a long time or you come you move here for a year, learn the language.
00:40:04
Speaker
There seems to be, no, no, we'll learn English. You're fine. which I just thought was, you don't want to generalize these things too much, but that was our experience. And that's what it is. ah So it's been 20 years now, but I went to Germany by myself to go in and meet a friend. Well, whenever I arrived, her mother was passing away.
00:40:28
Speaker
So she got on a plane and came back to the United States. And I was there for a week and a half all by myself. And so I like took the train and went around different places and ended up going to, I went to Stuttgart, um, in Germany and stayed there for a few days with a friend of mine that hadn't seen, you know, since high school.
00:40:51
Speaker
And then I met some people and we went to Amsterdam and, um, they had money and I obviously did not. So, um,
00:41:02
Speaker
That was my experience as well. Like I had no problem getting around. In Germany, depending on who you spoke to, they expected me to try. and But in Amsterdam and there and all around there, like everybody spoke English and nobody was trying to say anything other than What do you need and how much will you pay?
00:41:27
Speaker
Yeah, pretty much it. It was just, noticed, yeah, because we've been yet there too. And it was just, just an interesting cultural difference from our experience. <unk> So awesome. Yeah. kina' Big, big fans of the Netherlands.

Storylines and Character Growth

00:41:43
Speaker
um We go over to Central Park and we are full force Sad Sack Ross. Oh my God. Full force.
00:41:54
Speaker
Full force. The vet said that he's not going to stop his you know promiscuity or attempted promiscuity and he has to give up. by so I do feel a bit bad for him.
00:42:05
Speaker
no Not all the way. It's still SadSec Ross and you know he has an illegal pet that he knew was so You know, it's not like you a thing these things it's not like he had a puppy who got hit by a car. like it's and it's It's a bit different.
00:42:23
Speaker
Right. but yeah And I do feel sad. Because you think about whenever he took him to the hospital and he held his finger and all of that. But, yeah.
00:42:34
Speaker
and we're not We're not heartless. No. Not heartless. But, yeah. I mean, yeah. I felt that, too. yeah But I thought it was really cute whenever it kind of switched to the next scene, but they were still in the in the um ka ah central first.
00:42:52
Speaker
yeah They're sitting there with the see no evil. Hear no evil. yeah with them and And that cracked me up. Like I thought that was so that was just clever, the way that that was in there, you know?
00:43:05
Speaker
Yeah, I kind of wonder if that was dropped in at the last minute or if it was something they thought that'd be funny to do at some point when there's three people because there was no real need for it, but it was great.
00:43:15
Speaker
Like, I love that they did that funny little thing. Yeah, but they're talking about where Marcel might go, San Diego, Miami, the party zoo. Yeah. yeah How do you get a monkey in a zoo? And he's like, pops into a Volkswagen.
00:43:30
Speaker
That's right. that's That whole thing. And then whenever Phoebe pops in at the end, That's right. That's right. it's And it's one of those things that is it a funny joke. Not overly, but it's so well done. It's so well done. It makes it funny. delivery that they that they do.
00:43:49
Speaker
it's a oh it's great. um But yeah, the girls, Phoebe's there because the girls have taken fake Monica out to lunch and they're like, yeah, she's outstanding. hello Yeah, they're big fans of hers all of a sudden.
00:44:03
Speaker
um And this is... boom bra She probably stole it from a cheerleader thought whenever they were talking about her spirit and her personality. That's right. yeah He's not having this at all, which of course is smart. You know, he you shouldn't be...
00:44:19
Speaker
best friends with the lady who stole your credit card, I think. Now, this is the scene that's extended for you back in the girl's apartment. Fake Monica there making dinner. um Well, no, no, this wasn't one that was extended for you. No, that's right. She's just buttering the bread.
00:44:35
Speaker
Yeah, this is because it starts off where they're talking about they um and they they had crashed they had gone into like a party and then they asked who they were and they said that they were the gunnersons from room 617 but the basketball team had rented out all of the sixth floor and so they ended up getting thrown out and that was funny Yeah, that was it. That was the bit that was missing. Yeah, I've written down here to ask you if you like Dead Poets Society because I haven't seen it. But you've already answered that question. Yeah, with that was a whole aside just straight bamboo. That's right.
00:45:16
Speaker
Yeah, we were off on it. We were bouncing all over the place. um But yeah, that's when yeah Rachel has to leave. Don't wait up because she's off serve coffee to strangers.
00:45:27
Speaker
Now, one thing that I was going to ask you, I try to avoid, as I mentioned this a few times, you're digging too deeply into this before we talk. But they call, I think, the song Memory at some point and then Memories, plural, at others.
00:45:43
Speaker
And I haven't Googled I think it's memory. It's memory. Yes, singular. With the S. With the S, okay. I watched it. They call both the show. Because do you know that song?
00:45:54
Speaker
Do you know the I know the song, yes. Yeah, because, okay, so I don't know the whole song, but I know that it's memories, and there's an You what? I have some bad news for you.
00:46:06
Speaker
No! It's memory in the singular. Am I thinking of the right song? Definitely. The one from Cats. Andrew Lloyd Radford. Let's not pretend like I enjoy musicals.
00:46:20
Speaker
Let's not. Let's not. Yeah, I'll give you a second to Google that one because I know you're going to have to. i have to. They use both memory and memories to describe the song.
00:46:34
Speaker
I wonder if this is a common misconception because surely... Yeah, mean I didn't know. I know the song but heard you know many times and I wasn't sure. So I'm sure it's a very common. Oh, it is memory.
00:46:49
Speaker
Okay, but hang on. i need to see if it's the song that I'm thinking. dehydrated But here's a dehydrated dog commercial. Right.
00:47:05
Speaker
There you go. Deanne's jaw has just hit the table.
00:47:11
Speaker
have not. Let's not pretend. Like I said, but like that's one of the songs that you just everybody knows, even if you've never seen the musical or whatever. Absolutely.
00:47:24
Speaker
Always thought it was memories. I have memories in my notes. That's fantastic. i I think I would have thought it was memories as well.
00:47:35
Speaker
And then I just noticed this and suddenly I'm second guessing myself. So do cats like not have a good memory? What is this song even about? I can't. What is it? And are they smelly?
00:47:46
Speaker
We have lots of um I feel like we know the answer. Indeed. Indeed. um and Let's see. So we we do go over to the next scene. We're still in the girl's apartment.
00:47:58
Speaker
And this is where Ross reads the letter from Scranton. i wanted to oh Wait. What am I missing? What am I missing? Oh, oh, nothing, nothing. I'm with you. i Okay. Yeah. and This is where I wanted to ask you about your video game journey.
00:48:14
Speaker
Like, because this is where Phoebe has the Game Boy. And I was wondering if you ever had, like, as a child, did you have the Atari? Did you have something in your house? And kind of where are you? Where are you in this? day I'm not a big video game guy at all, but where are you?
00:48:27
Speaker
Okay. So whenever I was a kid, we did have an atari and my parents bought it and it was really cool because it had like this big long like thing and you had to plug it in and then you could sit in the floor and my parents enjoyed centipede yes which was the one with the ball and so they had that but like my parents were the ones who were who splurged and got this and i remember One time i was grounded and my uncle was in town and I didn't get to play.
00:49:04
Speaker
I had to watch the adults play before my brother was born. I was the only kid there. My uncle did not bring my cousins and I, I was grounded and my uncle kept saying, oh, come on, Sherry, Bill, you should just let her play. And they were like, no.
00:49:23
Speaker
Not having it. Yes. And I don't remember what it was that I did, but I'm sure I never did it again. we are peeling back the layers of Deanne's childhood trauma. I'm just saying. One leaf at a And then whenever our I was in fifth grade, I won and Nintendo in a drawing.
00:49:45
Speaker
item um And i had to walk halfway home carrying that big old box all Just more video game stuff, you know. That's awesome.
00:49:57
Speaker
But, and then my brother had like a Nintendo 64. I think I took the Nintendo to college with me, but I don't really remember. um And then Joseph and I, whenever we got married, we bought a Wii.
00:50:16
Speaker
So we could play Guitar Hero and then this Harry Potter game with the Wii. And that was super fun. but ah and you know And then the boys enjoy video games.
00:50:31
Speaker
And so we've got, ooh, I did buy a PlayStation whenever I was living in my apartment ah before I got married. But after I had my teaching job and I had a tiny bit of disposable income, the tiniest amount.
00:50:45
Speaker
um I bought it before or at the beginning of spring break so I could play The Sims and not spend money. And so for spring break, I think it was my second year teaching.
00:51:00
Speaker
i was at my apartment playing The Sims to save money. I like it. i like I remember The Sims a little bit.
00:51:11
Speaker
It's so fun. so I love it. So that's quite the good journey. I think we can kind of track things in our life through the computer gaming systems or whatever we we've had in our life. So that's good that's a lot fun.
00:51:26
Speaker
Yeah. And I had one of those big, thick Game Boys. Yeah. And then yeah yeah and then i Joseph bought me ah a little, I don't know, it's really pretty. it's a It's light blue, it's like a Game Boy Advance or something.
00:51:45
Speaker
before i Before I went on ah some trip, ah right after I moved ah to, and I was teaching at Providence, and I went to a conference.
00:51:58
Speaker
And so he bought it for me to play whenever we were driving to the conference. I love Yeah, it was really came with a little patent leather case is so cute and pretty feeling fancy. Yeah, I was so fancy. So that's awesome.
00:52:14
Speaker
Yeah, I love it. um Yeah, it was, like I said, and I want to Google this and see if there's any reason she has a game boy, if it's ever seen any at any other time.
00:52:26
Speaker
um Was it product placement for just one, but even though it was kind of in the background, um I don't know. I don't know. We'll see see what happens. And that was in the girl's apartment that she was playing.
00:52:39
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah. Okay. Okay. Yeah, because I was, whenever we were talking about that during Bamboozled, I was thinking about her sitting in the floor of the coffeehouse at that.
00:52:53
Speaker
ah Oh, right, right, right, right. No, this was definitely, it was when they're talking about not getting into the backup zoo, not into Sprint. Yeah. yeah is That was that. And that's the flame boy.
00:53:07
Speaker
That's right, because Joey's entered and he's irritated that Chandler didn't know there was a Joseph Stalin, which, again, brilliantly done. And then there was also a cut, a little bitty cut in this scene where they talked about Joey Heatherton.
00:53:25
Speaker
That was one of Chandler's suggestions to Joey. And he's like, no. then he says, i told you, I'm not going to go back to Joey.
00:53:39
Speaker
And i I was like, and I asked Joseph, I was like, who is Joey Heatherton? So I Googled and she was an actress, a very beautiful blonde actress from like the forties or sometime.
00:53:53
Speaker
And I was, and I wondered if they cut that because you wouldn't, nobody would have gotten that anyway. Yeah, I certainly wouldn't know that name, but maybe the writers thought we would.
00:54:05
Speaker
Yeah, well, and but it made me laugh because I was like, that's pretty, pretty funny. Now, we do, we go, I've got a question for you about this scene. So Ross meets the man who tries to get Marcel into what must just be animal fighting.

Guest Appearances and Episode Themes

00:54:23
Speaker
Yeah. Do you know who that guy is? No, but I recognize his voice. And that's why i had to Google him because I'm like, I know that voice from somewhere.
00:54:35
Speaker
Well, he is, he goes, his name is Harry Shearer and he does 21 of the voices on the Simpsons. ah Ah! Wow! I say I'm not a big ah sam'm not big Simpsons fan. I've got nothing against it. The stuff I've seen is funny.
00:54:53
Speaker
It's too late to start watching it, I think. It's like 30 years of... was going to say, you missed it if you didn't start whenever we were young. i think that's it. like I've missed the boat. It's too much of a commitment. But if it's on, I'll leave on because it's it's funny.
00:55:07
Speaker
But yeah, and as soon as I read that, I was like, yeah, I can hear a kind of Simpsons-esque timbre if you will in his voice that there was something uh something to it but that's who he is um yeah what a horrible horrible character though you know trying to get these animals to go after each other ah yeah i'll put them against a blind rabbit and give you 20 percent of the gate that's right mean What lunatic this guy must be.
00:55:36
Speaker
But yeah, then Joey and Chandler burst in and he's got in. They were going for their walk. I love the idea of Chandler and Joey just going for a walk. ah Just to get out of the house. um I don't think we ever see that, you know, going for a walk for the sake, for walking's sake.
00:55:52
Speaker
But they went with Marcel and yeah, he's in. He's into San Diego. um So great news all around. um But we go again back upstairs. mont Rachel is cleaning and Monica bursts into the apartment drunk, having crashed an embassy party of all things.
00:56:12
Speaker
um She's kind of fallen off the rails. She's not going to work. She's going to the Big Apple Circus instead. Yeah, which I looked at. Do you know about Big Apple Circus? I know of it.
00:56:24
Speaker
I don't know anything about it. I had never heard of it. I never, it is the equivalent of like Ringling Brothers. Only it stays there and it's a yearly thing that comes up. And I think this year is their 57th year.
00:56:41
Speaker
47th, 47th. 47th year. Yeah, I wouldn't have known anything about it. I just know it's a real thing, the Big Apple circus. Yeah, yeah.
00:56:52
Speaker
Yeah, she doesn't want to be herself anymore. She just wants to be nana. That's all she wants. um And at that moment, fortunately or unfortunately, the fake Monica has been arrested. She gets a phone call letting her know that um the person who stole a credit card has been arrested.
00:57:10
Speaker
I can't imagine that would happen in real life. I don't know. um But again, that's you would have had your card cancelled and stuff, so it's not really your business if they arrest the person.
00:57:22
Speaker
Yeah, that's it. Not quite sure how that would work. um Yeah, we go over to Rikers Island, which is a real prison. um think it's in Brooklyn, certainly New York City somewhere.
00:57:35
Speaker
um Monica and Fake Monica, they meet across the glass and Monica is very thankful. I don't quite get the Amish joke here. Like maybe there's something I'm missing, but Fake Monica says ah ah maybe it's the Amish thing.
00:57:50
Speaker
like why Monica's thankful or something. I can't remember quite why. I feel like it was because she was saying like, who's going to do all these things? Like I won't do them now. I don't know why I am the way that I am. And I think she was just saying that it's probably your Amish background as to why you're so conservative.
00:58:11
Speaker
Right. That makes right sense. I, that's the way I took it. I don't know. Yeah, no, that makes a bit more sense. um But yeah, she's done the the the fun journey with fake Monica is over.
00:58:25
Speaker
But Monica, good honor, goes to the dance class. And she's like, at least I'm doing it. At least she's trying. again So we're just there for a little bit. And she doesn't know what she's doing, but it doesn't matter at all. She is trying.

And doing that on your own is not easy. No, and not at all. And I feel like that teacher wouldn't have called her out like that if she didn't say anything to Phoebe whenever Phoebe was dancing all crazy. crazy And, you know, whatever.
00:59:00
Speaker
Yeah, just. But and for the sake of the drama, I think it was great. Yeah, absolutely. 100%. And that's where we kind of go to the last final seat prior to the theatre scene. We're at the airport with ah monica ab monica where a Marcel ah is being shipped off to San Diego.
00:59:20
Speaker
Back in the days where all your friends, your family, whoever you wanted could just stand at the gate when you walk in. Yeah. Very different times now, of course. But everybody's there.
00:59:31
Speaker
ah Phoebe wrote a poem. Chandler has words of advice. That's right. And Joey declares... See, again, i need to look at this stuff before we do bamboozled because I have them all here. Joey declares that he's hungry because what are going to say? It's a monkey.
00:59:45
Speaker
um Rachel brought him toy to do on the plane. The Curious George doll. That's all right. Oh, was it? Was it? The Curious George doll? So here's what's weird is it was the monkey that was in that scene, but curious George doesn't have a tail.
01:00:04
Speaker
It's so interesting. Okay. Well, let's see. And Ross tries to say goodbye, but Marcel's just too busy humping his leg. Again, feel sad for Ross at this moment. He just tells the handlers, whoever it is, just, just take them away. Take them away.
01:00:20
Speaker
um I do love the song, that song You're a Big Boy Now by John Sebastian that's playing in the background um when they're taking him away. I did not even, hey i've mentioned in other episodes that there's not a lot of times that they have songs playing in the background.
01:00:42
Speaker
I didn't even notice that one. Yeah, it's just got some kind of John Denver-y, you know, um almost heaven sweet Virginia, West Virginia kind of vibes to it. um You know, that kind of folksy country music. um so yeah okay just just just a song I like but then we go over to the theatre where Joey enters and declares his name as Olden McGroin um oh good see and once again written it down Joey auditioning for the role of Mercutio I've written it down I didn't get that in tribute now you asked me if there was three people who were auditioning or three people who were casting people do you know who they are
01:01:31
Speaker
No. Am I supposed to? Well, their their heads are turned, so why would you? Yeah, and they're you no they're smoking. Yeah, again I noticed that too. Again, something that ages and dates the show.
01:01:44
Speaker
But those three people are people you may know the name of. They are Kevin Bright, Marta Kaufman, and David Crane. Oh, that's fun. The executive producers of the show. It's their first appearance in it. I get i will i cheated. I looked that up because i thought, I wonder if, are those three just random people?
01:02:05
Speaker
um Because one of them spoke. So remember thinking that's a, you know, I don't know if that was really one of their voices or not. got no idea. But it was something that popped up that that was their first actual appearance.
01:02:17
Speaker
How fun. In front of the camera. So I don't if they appear again, to be fair. But yeah, so the producers of Friends were the producers of this play, which I just thought was a beautiful little touch.
01:02:30
Speaker
But that's at the end of this episode. Talk to me about your Gunther Central Park. Oh, my Dunther Central perk was Monica, hands down, Monica.
01:02:43
Speaker
um Yeah, she's so and neurotic and awesome and everything, but the fact that at the end of the episode, she' she's doing the tap class.
01:02:55
Speaker
I'm like, yes, Monica, yes. That's exact. I think mine is Monica too. It can't be anybody else. I don't think, I think she, well, she would have got to enemy, but you're right. That tap class scene, having the courage to do it, ah you know, definitely pushed her over the edge, um but it would probably be Monica regardless, I think.
01:03:17
Speaker
um So yeah, completely agree. And I talked to me about your coffee rating. um How many cups of coffee would you give this episode? I did seven and a half.
01:03:30
Speaker
Very nice. And then an espresso shot. yeahp um I gave a solid 7 I could be persuaded to seven and a 7.5 I like the main story I like the fake Monica stuff the Marcel stuff was okay for me looking at kind the B plot but a solid 7 I love the character fake Monica um I think um it's it's acted brilliantly and it brings out and a nice aspect of real Monica um she's you know it brings out a new kind bit side of her character which i i enjoyed seeing and yeah she was a thief and all that i do think she maybe had that she had some definite redeeming qualities in there too oh yeah they didn't yeah they didn't write this as this evil person has stolen your credit card what horrible human being i thought it was an interesting choice to play it um
01:04:26
Speaker
to cast as you know cast fake Monica as somebody who we could yeah kind of relate to or almost look up to in some odd, slightly weird ways. She did steal.
01:04:38
Speaker
Yeah. But like, it's weird to feel inspired, but you kind of do, right? Yeah, you can't do that. You can't help it. Feel inspired.

Speaker

01:04:52
Speaker
Yeah, du I kind of like Do the thing. garia and and all of that. So I like it. Just go for it. All right. Well, as we wrap this up, Eddie, that sounds like a pretty good final thought from you.
01:05:05
Speaker
um Yeah, I would echo that. it's ah It's odd to be inspired by somebody you know has stolen, but yet there was a lot of feel-good moments in this episode. But next week we will be looking at the one with the ick factor.
01:05:20
Speaker
And I didn't remember what this one was until I looked it up and then remembered it. And it's definitely icky. Definitely icky. Definitely icky. This title hits the nail on the head without a doubt.
