Introduction and Excitement for Friends Episode
00:00:04
Speaker
Well, hello, welcome to this week's episode of the Purple Door podcast, a friend's rewatch pod. I am one of your hosts, Alistair, alongside wonderful Deanne. Deanne, how are you today?
00:00:16
Speaker
I'm awesome, Al, and I am pumped to talk to you about this episode. Yes, they this is ah this is big time. we We're hitting one of the big episodes. i am excited to talk to you about it as well. This week, excuse me, I'm coughing away.
00:00:33
Speaker
We have combined on the on the stream, it's part one
Revealing 'The One After the Super Bowl'
00:00:37
Speaker
and part two. On the DVDs, it's all wrapped together. It is the one after the Super Bowl. um Both of us last week, it's fair to say we couldn't quite remember what one this was.
00:00:49
Speaker
Because we were thinking, well, they must show the Super Bowl football related. Or certainly I was. I couldn't remember what this episode was. But of course, it was shown after the actual Super Bowl.
00:01:01
Speaker
And that's why I called that. Yes. It totally escaped me. And I think, and I could be wrong and we'll talk about it, but I think the only part that has anything at all to do with football is in the one scene where Joey's holding a football.
00:01:19
Speaker
That's a very good point. I didn't think about that. Yeah. Yeah. Because I kept waiting for something, but no, there was nothing. Nothing that would have... Nothing that really referenced it.
Bamboozled Trivia Game Begins
00:01:31
Speaker
Well, I'm looking at it. We'll get stuck into that and um talk a little football while we're while we're at it. But it wouldn't be the Purple Door podcast if we did not start with a bumper-sized round, perhaps,
00:01:46
Speaker
of bamboozled this week although i say that and i think well but i've got nine questions so on the higher end of normal but it's about about nine questions okay so i have a little bit more i have 14 okay i thought i would end up with a lot more like i was telling diane before we recorded i watched this very early this morning so i may not have been on top four when i when i concocted my bamboozled questions um But I'm excited to hear yours. You've got more than me. Why don't you start off?
00:02:17
Speaker
All right. What's the name of the beer that Marcel is in the ads for? I believe that is Monkey Shine Beer. Nice job. Ding, ding, ding. dig Ding, ding. right. We're off to good start. Good start.
00:02:30
Speaker
Well, on that note, what's the slogan for Monkey Shine Beer?
00:02:37
Speaker
Oh, mm. On the commercial,
Joey's Stalker and Fan Mail
00:02:39
Speaker
there's monkey shine beer. When you can't get that monkey off your back or is something. It is not. Oh, that's the opening line of the commercial. It is. I think it is. But it's not the source the slogan for the beer.
00:02:54
Speaker
I have. I don't know. No idea. Well, it's monkey shine beer because it's a jungle out there. Oh, that's cute. Yes, it is. It's a good one.
00:03:05
Speaker
All right. What is the name of Joey's stalker? You know, I know her first name. It's Erica.
00:03:17
Speaker
Do we need her last name? No, I'll take Erica. Is Ford? It is Ford. Okay, Erica. I've written down Erica, but not Ford. Okay. Okay. Yeah, on her on her letter that she sends with the 14 eyelashes, she signs it with her full name.
00:03:36
Speaker
ah Well, my second question was, what does Erica put in the first fan mail to Joey? And you've just answered that question. Ding, ding, ding. 14 eyelashes it is.
00:03:48
Speaker
All right. You have to crazy world, that means you're married. That's right. good. All right. What two things did Joey and Chandler grab to protect themselves whenever Erica showed up at their apartment?
00:04:05
Speaker
I love this so much because of my next question. You and I are on the same wavelength. They grab, Joey grabs a frying pan and Chandler grabs a dishwashing liquid, dishwashing soap.
00:04:18
Speaker
Yeah, ah exactly. And I love that my third question for you is, what are the two colors of the washing up bottle that Chandler holds when Erica arrives?
00:04:30
Speaker
Oh, it's yellow and green? It is indeed. Well done. Yeah. we're We're obviously focusing in like on the same stuff for questions, which I think is kind of awesome. so Okay.
00:04:42
Speaker
Who does Chandler compare Erica to whenever he's describing her to Monica and Rachel?
00:04:50
Speaker
Oh, let's think. Who is he? I have no idea. I do not remember that scene. Okay. Does it help if I say it's while they're in the library waiting for ah and Phoebe's getting ready to start singing to the kids and everything. And so they're talking.
00:05:10
Speaker
And they're the back of the library. And we that Joey's gone out to lunch. And he says, you know, the complete opposite of her. I am not going to get it.
00:05:22
Speaker
I remember the scene, but yeah, hit me it. Okay. Kathy Bates and Misery, but the complete opposite. That's right. Did you ever see or read Misery? No.
00:05:33
Speaker
God, okay, man. Okay, so read it years ago and everything. And then whenever they turned it into a movie, my dad and I watched it.
00:05:44
Speaker
And like we went on a like a Stephen King movie kick for a while. But yeah, Kathy Bates, she was so creepy.
00:05:56
Speaker
it's so crazy i could see her being playing a creepy character very well she's got that man she does funny stuff so well too like kathy baits she is two thumbs up yeah oh she's out so the only it's funny i've never read a stephen king book yeah again for for no reason no reason the only thing i've really watched of his And it's one of those things, I'll be honest, wasn't probably that great, but it just stuck with me. It's something I loved.
00:06:26
Speaker
I think it's his only made-for-TV series, and it was called The Storm of the Century. Oh, he's got two. Oh, he's actually got three.
00:06:37
Speaker
Okay. This one was called The Storm of the Century, and it's 20 years old. And I just remember, like, i watched it years and years ago. Oh, there were four. There were four.
00:06:48
Speaker
Four? May, he's made more than we thought. Thinking about the series that there were books and they turned into. Now, Storm of the Century, is that? No, I'm thinking of the Langoliers, where they're inside the airport.
00:07:02
Speaker
Okay, yeah, i don't know that. Storm of the Century, they're on a small island off the coast of Maine. Okay. and And I remember looking for the book and then finding out it wasn't a book. You could buy the script.
00:07:14
Speaker
Oh, that may have been the only one that was made for TV. Yeah, it was just but it was a two-night thing, like three hours on one night, three hours the next. I remember.
00:07:25
Speaker
man it's good It's creepy. It's good stuff. Yeah. yeah But yeah, I need to do so read some Stephen King. Like, everybody reads Stephen King. Gosh. so there's Yeah, there's a movie that's going to be coming out soon, i think next summer, and it's based on his book.
00:07:45
Speaker
the Oh, God. It's about The Longest Walk. Okay. And it is a messed up book. um What was the other one? In my head, you said The Lumineers.
00:07:58
Speaker
Oh, Langoliers. Langoliers. Langoliers, yeah. But The Longest Walk is a messed up book, and it it's very, um like, dystopian type situation like in I had never read it and it was one of the first books that he wrote as Richard Bachman and it man it's just it's a messed up book and I read it my friend Bree ah recommended it to me and I read it and I was like wow like last year and right and then I saw it's coming out as a movie and I'm like that's gonna be a messed up movie you might still have to go and see it
00:08:43
Speaker
oh Yeah. Yeah. I love it. I think, yes, I think it's my question. yes No, no, no. We could have movie talk, book talk, all of the above.
00:08:55
Speaker
as a What airline does Ross use to fly to Los Angeles? We see the plane sort in between shots, like before we see him in the zoo.
00:09:08
Speaker
We do? Or at least I do. There's two or three seconds like in between the scenes like with a bit of music. They show a plane flying. Maybe not, though. This isn't the scene that I was told was cut. and I'm not disagreeing. I just don't remember that at all.
00:09:25
Speaker
Ah, it's a big plane that says United across the site. Okay. They've used United in other episodes, too. yes i do what Sometimes i wonder like I assume everything's deliberate.
00:09:37
Speaker
Oh, yeah. You know, you're not going to just randomly pick because they could have had American or Delta or. Right. Especially on such a high profile episode. a All right.
00:09:49
Speaker
This one, I feel like could be one of you. I'm going to skip it and I'm going to save it because I feel like I wrote this down because of that.
00:10:00
Speaker
What's the name of the movie that they're filming?
00:10:06
Speaker
Outbreak 2, The Virus Takes Manhattan. Yes. Yes. That was one of mine. Yes. Which we'll talk about that movie too. I've got something fun there. um
00:10:21
Speaker
What restaurant do Joey and Erica eat at? Is that it? but That's it. It's a real restaurant. I looked it up. I'm not surprised.
00:10:33
Speaker
Yeah, probablyly i give you yeah
Trivia: Real Restaurant in Friends?
00:10:36
Speaker
you you know me well. You know me well. I do enjoy seeing the names of the restaurants. Okay.
00:10:44
Speaker
What is Susan Susie Moss's job on set?
00:10:53
Speaker
Does she do makeup? She does. Okay. Okay. All right. And speaking of Susie, Where's Chandler going to take her on a date and at what time?
00:11:10
Speaker
She says something like how many times? arm. And he just basically goes, okay, this place at this time? Yeah, I have no idea where, at 8 o'clock or 4 o'clock.
00:11:22
Speaker
It is 8 o'clock. it's He says, oh, yeah, Ernie's at 8. Ernie's at 8. Ernie's at 8. All right.
00:11:33
Speaker
so and what color is the underwear that Chandler wears to dinner? All right.
00:11:45
Speaker
I don't remember, but I think it's going to be sort of stereotypically feminine. So I'm going to go pink or red. And we're going to go with red. Dang. Ah, pink.
00:11:56
Speaker
Yes! There we go. All right. All right. All right.
00:12:04
Speaker
Let's see. Okay, I've got two left. What two animals does that slightly unhinged zoo worker address? He talks to two of them before he... The bat?
00:12:16
Speaker
Yep. There are the bats and the... ah Oh, they're creepy. They crawl on the fence. ah Possum. Yes. we we Our back fence, we we we joke, is Possum Highway.
00:12:29
Speaker
Because especially when it gets colder, every night there's the least one... the did did did did did across the fence sends the dogs insane I'm sure yeah they're not a baby one for a while yeah well yeah that would go back if but we't we had a family that would use our fence because it was bigger ones smaller ones and we we assumed they were all related we we choose to believe they're happy little possum family somewhere way okay what have you got for me
00:13:01
Speaker
what does chris isaac or um whatever his name is in here um rob donnan rob yeah robbed rob donnan yep yep okay so what does he ask phoebe to play songs about barnyard animals very good right i had to dig a little for that one yes All right, my final question for you.
00:13:31
Speaker
What other celebrity did Rachel hang out with in addition to Jean-Claude Van Damme?
00:13:38
Speaker
I suddenly thought, is this actually Monica? No, I think it's Rachel.
00:13:44
Speaker
She says that the they saw somebody.
00:13:48
Speaker
And then it gets brought up later when Monica... Is it It is. She gets mentioned twice. Okay. Yeah. no ah I think...
00:13:59
Speaker
ah Well, okay, so Rachel tells Jean-Claude Van Damme that Monica wants to hang out with him and Drew Barrymore.
00:14:10
Speaker
Yes. And then at the end, he tells Monica that Drew Barrymore was very disappointed. That's right. I may have got that question muddled up. Speaking of which, before we forget, I just remembered I owe you an apology.
00:14:24
Speaker
Why? I do, because I messed up on a question on our previous episode. oh And I think you you kind of caught it, but I was quite sure I was right and I was wrong. There is no clock on that huge dragonfly thing.
00:14:38
Speaker
It is indeed just a piece of art. Oh, okay. Yes. All right. Because near the we see it somewhere. I went back. Anyway, definitely just a piece of art. It was this episode.
00:14:49
Speaker
Yeah, we see it in the background. Whenever he's setting up the dinner for Marcel. That's it. That's the scene. And saw it in the background, and I was like, there's that stupid dragonfly, I guess. Yeah, no no clock, just drag all dragonfly. No clock.
00:15:03
Speaker
Oh, well, there you go. Well, thanks, Al. I never would have even thought of that. Yeah, hey. No problem. All right, what have you got for me? What are two of the many things that Ross takes Marcel to do before putting Marcel back in the car?
00:15:28
Speaker
I remember... I'm confused the order of things. Does he take him to get ice cream or is that later on No, that's that's when I'm talking about. Yeah, I can picture the ice cream because it throws it away.
00:15:45
Speaker
I can't remember anything else though, unfortunately. Well, they it's like they're walking around looking inside of windows, like window shopping. Yeah, right. And they're reading newspapers.
00:15:58
Speaker
Yeah, now you say it. yeah And then they get that ice cream and then Marcel starts licking his ice cream. That's right. Yeah. There might be some other things.
00:16:09
Speaker
But it was just so silly. It was. It was. um Okay, so then I had a question of who's the star that was disappointed to have not spent time with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Monica.
00:16:21
Speaker
Drew Barrymore, yes. What are the other things that went missing the same time that Marcel got taken?
00:16:32
Speaker
What other thing? Oh, from the zoo? Mm-hmm. Because remember, he tells them it was an inside job. Yep. Do you believe everything the zoo tells you?
00:16:43
Speaker
I love that line. To fair, this is the only thing don't i forget ro hobs remember the scene, but that those details have escaped me.
00:16:58
Speaker
Okay, so we've got a snowy egret Which I had to look up and see what that is. Do you know what that is? Snowy egret. I would assume it's some kind of bird, but i don't know.
00:17:10
Speaker
is It is. Okay. Which I thought was strange because the other animal that went missing was a two-toed sloth and then three sweatshirts. Okay, about as diverse as it could be.
00:17:23
Speaker
Right. Well, sort of. Because I was like, okay, three sweatshirts, like maybe to hide some animals in. Right. Right. That would make sense. But then, and I'm like a two-toed sloth. Like, who would not want to take one of those? Who would not want to take the monkey? Absolutely. But then, what the heck are you going to do with this big white bird? Right. Like, it does not does not make any sense. So, I feel like like, I don't know why they would have stolen that.
00:17:53
Speaker
Right. That does seem like an odd thing. and but Yeah, that'd be difficult to sneak on out. I feel that would be that would be tricky.
00:18:04
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Yes. Do you have any more for me? I know you've got to be getting there. Maybe one more. Oh, yeah. What is Dr. Drake Ramore's twin's name?
00:18:16
Speaker
His evil twin Hans Ramore. Just yeah so many good things to say about that scene when we get there. It's a man alive. It cracks me up.
00:18:30
Speaker
um well like i i think i may have said this already as we're recording when i watched this very early this morning the dogs got me up and i feel this this these two episodes into one episode it moves very quickly there's a lot jumping around a lot of big stories so if i've missed a whole scene as i was scribbling note notes down you know let me know i need you to keep me on track here um But we certainly start off in the girls' apartment. Ross is, you know, the watching the commercial.
00:19:01
Speaker
And do they know that that's Marcel or it they don't, right? They just look like Marcel. It just makes him think about Marcel. Right. Yeah. And he's, yeah, poor Ross is is missing Marcel.
00:19:17
Speaker
i thought it was hilarious whenever he was talking about whenever he would joke and leave monkey raisins in his ass. Yes, yes. and then weirdo And then Chandler is like, Stuart, when he does it, he's cute or something. like Yeah.
00:19:32
Speaker
But then whenever I do it to my boss, is I have a big attitude. That's right. Like so gross. Gross, but starting off strong as Chandler.
00:19:44
Speaker
Absolutely. With the humor. um The first kind of main scene were over in Central Park where Joey is very excited because he's got this fan mail.
00:19:56
Speaker
and But better than that, he has a stalker because she hand-delivered this to his apartment. um we there yeah I thought the line after that, whenever you remember whenever we talked to about good thing, bad thing?
00:20:10
Speaker
This is a bad thing. Yes, it's a bad thing. tried to get... Go ahead. Go ahead. No, I was just saying it. He's so genuinely confused, you know.
00:20:22
Speaker
and that Right. Oh, Joey. Poor Joey. I feel like he thinks he's made it. You know, he's become a celebrity. He has this person. But i try I really do try. I try not to pull the curtain back and see the magic or, you know, appear behind the magic of the show.
00:20:41
Speaker
But if she doesn't believe or know who Joey Tribbiani is, how does she know where Where he lives. She probably followed him, right? i guess she maybe followed him. But yeah, Drake Ramore's name is not anything to do with that apartment.
00:20:56
Speaker
No. You're absolutely right. Maybe he followed her. She followed him. Yeah. Yeah. And on the thing, I don't... i Yeah. I don't know why it would say... Or have anything like how she would know which...
00:21:16
Speaker
Well, but if she followed him, if she is a stalker and she, you know, that that would that would track. is She's just following Drake back to Drake's apartment. Right.
00:21:28
Speaker
So like it she would have had to have randomly seen him out on the street or something. Yeah, she wouldn't have gone to the studio to find him and follow him from there.
00:21:39
Speaker
Right. Because, you know, they're in Salem. Right. that That again, a good point. That's right. Anyway, we don't want to pull the magic back, but there's one other one one other thing in this scene I've got a slight you know nitpick at, and I promise I won't do this again.
00:21:57
Speaker
But Rob Donan comes in and he flirts with Phoebe. And he says, I don't know anything about music. And he, A, schedules performers for the library, and B, and this is the scene that I've read is not on the DVD, but he's playing the guitar at the end.
00:22:16
Speaker
Oh, he is? He does. does not. No. Yeah, they duet at the end on the um the stream. Oh, yeah. ah That would not make any sense at all.
00:22:29
Speaker
Right. Wow. Yeah, and that scene is not on, on the DVD at all. but Well, discuss it's a very small scene. We'll discuss it when we get there, but surely know something about music, um I would think, I would hope.
00:22:47
Speaker
um Yeah, if he's scheduling people. um But yeah, he and Phoebe seemed to hit it off. They're definitely flirting quite a bit. to um Yeah, seems like it seemed like a good and have a good couple, but you know'm certainly hitting it off well.
00:23:07
Speaker
Yeah, and it wasn't the first time that that guy had been there. Ah, yeah. Because whenever, and because Rachel says to her that cute, that really cute guy is back again. course, that's right. Yes, she does. Good catch. um Well, let's see. We go up to the boys' apartment, Joey Chandler hanging out.
00:23:28
Speaker
What are we going to do for dinner? Guess we could cook for ourselves. And then they laugh. They laugh that off. Now, the only thing that I noticed in this season, I didn't i thought maybe the foosball table is different. It has a perspex flat top on it.
00:23:43
Speaker
It sure does. and And again, i feel like I've said this like every episode. I know somebody out there probably looked at the interior decorations of these two apartments and how they change.
00:23:55
Speaker
But at some point, that it doesn't have the Perspex top. Right. Well, I wonder if it's not removable. Right. Maybe it is. Maybe its that would be a good design feature.
00:24:07
Speaker
Yeah. And it could have been something that they created themselves. so that they could actually use it as a table since that's their table. Right. Yeah, that that'd be a good thought, having a removable one.
00:24:20
Speaker
But I do love this scene, this physical comedy in the hallway. So Erica comes, and then Joey's just going to walk right past her. She won't recognize her.
00:24:31
Speaker
But wait, they go and they knock on the door, and this is the one time they're not home. and And pretty much the one time they knock on the door and don't just walk in as well.
00:24:42
Speaker
Right. Where is Monica? Right. It's so, yeah. they yeah they they Monica's not home. They knock. um It's a very funny. And it's just the way Joey goes to run and then Chandler grabs him and he gets a physical comedy of Joey kind of flailing a little bit.
00:25:02
Speaker
yeah Yeah. Brilliantly, brilliantly done. Yeah. How does it go down? You'll remember, I think, the line like, you know, let me, you know, Joey grabs the frying pan. That's good. But what do we do if she's not a cartoon?
00:25:17
Speaker
Yes. you and That's exactly right. And then, but yeah, whenever he goes to run, he's like, and on the stairs, she won't know it's me.
00:25:29
Speaker
He's like, that's how radio starts. That's right. Oh, dang. good. so good ah Yes, and everything, it was just so fast and sporadic and panicky. Yes, yes. And you could feel that panic, like, oh, my gosh.
00:25:46
Speaker
And then, yeah you know, we knew it was Brooke Shields coming, but I imagine the very first time, you have no idea. and who knows what's about to show up at the door? Yeah, and that door opens, and then Chandler squeezing the bottle with it. I mean, just funny, funny stuff.
00:26:08
Speaker
But, yeah, I do wonder, like, the audience, if they covered it up so the audience couldn't see who it was, you know the live audience who were there watching the recording.
00:26:21
Speaker
So they were surprised when the door opened. um You know, I choose to believe that cause I think that'd be fun. But I wonder that works. Yeah.
00:26:33
Speaker
yeah But this is where it's it's from this scene on this on the stream. You see the United flight gliding through the clouds and we kind land in the zoo.
00:26:44
Speaker
um And then Ross finds out unfortunately, sort of, we find that Marcel has died. um And do you where do you recognize or what do you think of when you saw the zoo director guy?
00:26:59
Speaker
Does he jump out at you? and Yes, yes. He does. And he ah he reminded me, because I recognized him as being a dad an old sitcom. That's it for me as well.
00:27:17
Speaker
yeah He plays, i believe it's Amy's dad, who marries Robert, Ray Romano's brother, in Everybody Loves Raymond. Okay. Okay. There you go. He's definitely in that. And I think that's his daughter. I think her name was Amy. I've not seen that show in a long time.
00:27:35
Speaker
um But that's what I think of him um as the dad.
Fred Willard's Roles and Connections
00:27:41
Speaker
Not Ray's dad, but a a dad on that show. But I know he's been in a ton of other stuff. but Yes. yeah well And what's funny is that even the guy from the very first uh commercial was in a whole lot of stuff and actually the guy from the commercial at the very beginning was the one that sent me down the whole rabbit hole that got me to the free improv class in a couple interesting i do love these good rabbit holes that we end up yeah um going down yeah forget ah forget his name um
00:28:22
Speaker
It's Fred something. Is it Willard? Fred Willard? fred Willard. with That m sounds very close. Yes. Yeah, we'll go with that.
00:28:33
Speaker
But, excuse me, plays a quirky character very well. yeah The zoo director. I do like that line about you know the zoo dollars and then, what does he say, like, come and see the bird show for the macaws wear hats or something. Something ridiculous.
00:28:50
Speaker
um completely oblivious to Ross hurting at that moment. Well, not completely because he says, well, it's a lot cuter if your monkey has died.
00:29:02
Speaker
That's true. He does have some sympathy. You're right. Yes. um But yeah, the zoot is something about zoo dollars, like that's going to solve all the problems.
00:29:14
Speaker
Getting some free free money to spend at the zoo. When was the last time you went to a zoo?
00:29:21
Speaker
Okay, so I'm very picky about the zoo. I do not like to go whenever it's too hot because then the animals don't move and it smells bad. Yes, and it's just hot.
00:29:32
Speaker
Yes. And it's hot, and that sucks, you know. um I used to take, like, in the spring, I would always take the boys, um that like, starting whenever Fred was in a stroller.
00:29:46
Speaker
Right. Yeah. And then every year, whenever I taught kindergarten, I don't know that there was ever year that we didn't go to the zoo on our field trip.
00:30:01
Speaker
So it's probably been, it's probably been a couple of years. Not a whole long, well, I say that, I don't know that I have been since COVID. Yeah.
00:30:12
Speaker
Well, but i have been through a drive-through par or like a drive-through Right. Like in the last two years. Is that the one down in like Glen Rose?
00:30:24
Speaker
Like South Portland? Not that one. Okay. straight up 35, there's one called Arbuckle Wilderness. Yes. Yep. And we went to that one during COVID.
00:30:34
Speaker
And it was so much fun. And it was like everybody in the Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, region had decided to go there. So we waited in the world's longest line. Because it's one of the few things you could do. You could do. And everybody had money and wanted to get out of their house.
00:30:54
Speaker
Now that people who are listening, this is a very obscure connection. But people who watch Tiger King featuring Joe Exotic, the Arbuckle Wilderness gets a little nod in that.
00:31:06
Speaker
It does. It does indeed. Fun fact. hu Well, Oh, no, then I want to make that connection. Never mind. Right. Tiger King. Yeah, yeah yeah he's he's from not too far from where um we both live.
00:31:24
Speaker
um Has some connections to this area. But, yeah, it's kind of to be, I went to Portland, um Oregon, last week. Yeah, just last week.
00:31:36
Speaker
And I didn't go to the zoo, but I went to a park that a museum and bits and pieces. But the Portland Zoo is also there. It's kind of all in this one area. And it just got me thinking when I was there. I was like, I'm not going to the zoo.
00:31:48
Speaker
i i It's been many years, I think. my My kids are just a little older than Deanne's, a couple of years. But I don't think I've been to the zoo. It's definitely at least COVID.
00:32:00
Speaker
um Yeah. Yeah, same as you. Yeah. And we we would have gone to the Fort Worth Zoo. I think that would have been the last one that we went went to because that's kind of, that's it's a good zoo, the Fort Worth Zoo.
00:32:15
Speaker
It is. And Dallas Zoo has gotten good too. But then the one that we'd always take the kindergartners to um is in Gainesville. Yeah, Frank Buck. Frank Buck with the, but everything's a circle, so you're not going to miss anything.
00:32:31
Speaker
Right. I like that zoo too. that's kind of my speed. You get the this sort of animal fix and the kids love it, but it's not too huge. And you really knock on wood. I don't know if you ever lost a kid, but I don't think you can really lose a kid at Frank Buck Zoo. You know, it's, the kids are going in one enclosed circle.
00:32:49
Speaker
So. That's correct. Yeah. That was one of the reasons why we always went there for yeah kindergarten field trip because it was, you know, yep nobody was getting away.
00:33:02
Speaker
Yes, it's a very good, good place to visit. Big thing of the Frank Buck Zoo. Now, Outbreak, we said that Marcel's going to be in Outbreak too. Outbreak was a real movie.
00:33:15
Speaker
Yeah. I didn't know that. You never saw it? No, Katie, who plays Marcel, was in that movie. I didn't know that this was this was a real thing. Yeah. Yeah, okay, you knew that. And it came from, and in the movie, the way that the whole Outbreak starts,
00:33:32
Speaker
is there's a kid and he's in the backyard and the monkey comes up to him. Ah. And then that's where he gets the virus and then it just... Okay. Yeah, I just... It's a scary movie to be honest. Right? It'll get you.
00:33:51
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, I don't know. Like, we made a point whenever lockdown happened and everything to watch it. right yeah just because remember that movie let's watch this and be like oh dang let's actually scare the life out of everyone yeah one right real life well speaking of scaring people that's my segue over to the library nice one you like that one phoebe is getting ready she's nervous she's gonna play for the kids i love that chandler rachel and monica i think it is are there to support yeah yeah obviously ross is out of town um
00:34:29
Speaker
So, and Joey's having lunch with his stalker. So he's otherwise against, but love that they've shown up. They're there for Phoebe. rob Rob gives her a kiss. They have quite a little sweet moment.
00:34:40
Speaker
You know, they're definitely feeling each other at this point. um I kind of like the song. I kind of, I, I'm just from a like a musical standpoint, I could sit there and hum the song.
00:34:54
Speaker
Um, you know, but these grandparents dying, they've not gone to Peru. um Like, as you said, all of that, it's a so well written. Yes.
00:35:05
Speaker
And yeah, Phoebe just can't can' help herself. It's just, it's like well-meaning, but always inappropriate is what it seems. Yes.
00:35:18
Speaker
Good old Phoebe. And when, it's not after that song, but whenever they are all clapping, One was like, you know, ah great job or something and somebody informative and then not at all inappropriate.
00:35:33
Speaker
That's right. yeah But I think that's later. But yes that made me laugh too. Yeah. but So well done. um I just love it because I love was it.
00:35:44
Speaker
Yeah. Just the last episode, we saw everyone being supportive of Joey being on Days of Our Lives. And then everyone's being supportive of Phoebe. And we see it with like Ross at some point does like a lecture and people show up for him.
00:35:59
Speaker
I like that they do, they do make it a real effort to support each other on new ventures. yeah We do truly see how crazy Erica is in this next scene. have what You know, I know who Brooke Shields is, you know, recognize her. I don't know yeah much of, she plays this so well.
00:36:22
Speaker
Now, and apparently, apparently, I saw this online when I was doing a little digging into this episode. Gee, this episode was really used as her shoo-in to become the starring role on a sitcom called Suddenly Susan.
00:36:41
Speaker
Like they built this around her having seen this episode. um they were auditioning people, looking for people, the directors, whoever it was, saw this and said, she's the one.
00:36:53
Speaker
She's going to be suddenly Susan. yeah man she is She plays this part brilliantly. She's hilarious. And she was a child star.
00:37:04
Speaker
Oh, really? Okay. h She was a child star. She was in ah like there Blue Lagoon or Return to Blue Lagoon. I don't know, but it was about whenever she was very young, like a young teenager.
00:37:19
Speaker
and right And it's a story about these, these two kids that were marooned on an island. And she was, that was kind of her start.
00:37:32
Speaker
And often, you know, people are, and she was in a bunch of other things and then she kind of fell off. Okay. You know, as, as, they typically are it's not unusual for them too but then she's one that was able to come back and have have a a career yeah i sort of associate her more with non-acting like she she was was she married or just a long-term relationship with and andre agassi um i don't know see you know i don't know that yeah
00:38:07
Speaker
I think we're married. Might be wrong. But yeah, the way she's obsessed with Joey's hands. Oh, yeah. Bill, I mean, he was just reattaching a spinal cord.
00:38:18
Speaker
His hands save lives, Al. That's right. wouldn't Wouldn't we all be obsessed? Yes. Yeah. yeah Yes. Yeah. Oh, it's ah you just really get the picture of how out of touch from reality she is.
00:38:35
Speaker
Yeah. She's got no idea.
Brooke Shields as Erica
00:38:38
Speaker
And then that guy starts choking in the background and his cover's almost blown at this point. Well, she stands up and does her hand like, and and Dr. Drake Ramoy.
00:38:51
Speaker
Right. Renowned in Salem. That's so good. Oh, wow. Okay. How they don't crack is just beyond me.
00:39:02
Speaker
um and this point, we bounce back over to the San Diego Zoo and this is where the I guess he's like a custodian. He's sweeping away, approaches Ross and tells him to meet him at the nocturnal house.
00:39:15
Speaker
um Ross thinks he has other things on his mind. And he does it so nicely. He he does. shuts that man down very nicely.
00:39:26
Speaker
He does. He's taking care of the man. And then it's about your monkey. He's alive. Again, this guy, just not a big part, but plays it so well.
00:39:38
Speaker
Um, again, somebody I feel I recognize, uh, but I think he looks like a character in Frasier and but um it's not the same guy. Um, there's a guy, a character called Noel Shemsky in Frasier and he reminds me of him. And I think that I've just got those two kind of crossed.
00:39:57
Speaker
Um, cause it's not, not the same guy. Um, Noel actually appears in friends. Um, Do you remember the scene where Monica is like, not auditioning, that's not the one, but she's trying to get a job at a restaurant and she has to just make a simple salad and he's like, he's kind of pervy and he's like, no, i like it dirty.
00:40:21
Speaker
He's that gay That's Noel Shamsky from Frasier. And they just remind to me of each other, the way they look a bit. Yeah. And it looks like this guy, he is, oh, interesting.
00:40:34
Speaker
He's actually the dope. guy for Homer Simpson. Really? Uh-huh. That's the the zookeeper guy. the and And he's a voice actor.
00:40:47
Speaker
And it's not only a voice actor, but the majority of his things, he's a voice ah for an animated, different animated characters. So that's not, I know there's, I've forgotten the lady's name who plays Bont.
00:41:04
Speaker
yeah then this hanker area And and there's another. I forgot. you know They all play various roles. Dan Castanella. That's Castellaneta. Yes.
00:41:15
Speaker
Is that yeah that him? Uh-huh. Okay, so yeah he's one of the the main Simpsons voice actors. He sure is. and He's Homer Simpson. Right. And then he's Grandpa, Barney, Krusty the Clown, Sideshow Mel, Groundskeeper Willie, Mayor Quimby, and...
00:41:32
Speaker
I don't know who Hans Molman is. Now tell me, so again, we suddenly we're talking about the Frasier podcast quite
Simpsons and Friends Connections
00:41:39
Speaker
bit. The two guys that usually host that love The Simpsons.
00:41:43
Speaker
and and And they drop it in quite a bit like they've seen it all. and I want to love The Simpsons. I've watched the first season and it was really funny.
00:41:54
Speaker
But I find it almost like there's so much of it. I don't, can I commit to watching 30 seasons of The Simpsons? Because it looks really funny. but It is. Okay, I just know it from like pop culture rather than right knowing the references of what actually happens in the show.
00:42:09
Speaker
Okay, so... How you feel ah about The Simpsons? Okay, we watched it for years and years and years. Right. I was growing up and I will catch an episode here and there.
00:42:22
Speaker
ah you i or i don't think, I have not had the experience from The Simpsons that if you watch a random episode, you're like, what's going on? Who are You know? Right. So I highly recommend.
00:42:39
Speaker
And it's so funny because on our way to church this morning, we were talking about the Simpsons and that, um, you know because like, you know, family guy and, um, the family guy. And then there was another one that we were talking about and about how that humor,
00:42:59
Speaker
George wouldn't necessarily, he would be more offended than think it's funny. And so we were talking about the humor on the Simpsons.
00:43:10
Speaker
He would probably find more humorous. Okay. And um so that's so funny that the Simpsons came up again. Yes. But yeah, no. And I used to love watching all of the, the tree house horror films.
00:43:26
Speaker
ones, all the Halloween episodes. Ah, that's right up your alley. Yes, it's so funny. um And then the Christmas episodes and all of that. And the the first season is funny, but like the animation gets better.
00:43:42
Speaker
right oh yeah, when I watched that first season, I was like, this doesn't even, this is, you can tell. consist Yeah, and that's, so personally, i those first episodes and everything else, I've, those I normally won't watch them because I just don't like the animation.
00:43:59
Speaker
Okay. It's that picky. That sounds so snobby. But it is what it is. It is what it is. And you love The Simpsons nonetheless. Yeah, absolutely. So I would highly suggest just catching an episode or two here and there. Okay. And it's not as scary as you have to watch from the beginning to the end.
00:44:19
Speaker
Right, because that just seemed overwhelming. Like it was commitment. It was like... whenever i accidentally started graves anatomy and then i was like oh my gosh 10 seasons 20 seasons however many yeah it's what puts me off watching lost again loved lost it's a commitment so good we started watching that with fred it's so good but it's so long it is brilliant show We won't spoil the end to discuss it too much, but it's controversial towards the end.
Discussing TV Series 'Lost'
00:44:54
Speaker
100%. just as a holistic view of the whole show, brilliantly done, I think.
00:45:01
Speaker
Yes. So many talking points. i used to um watch it and and during the commercials, call my neighbor across the street, Dainey, who would watch it too. because she just could understand it better. like I'd be like, what's happening? why What was this secret number about? And she always knew.
00:45:19
Speaker
um So we'd have these quick talks during Lost. um That's funny. Yeah, but good to know about The Simpsons, because, yeah, it just seemed like i I've got to watch it from start to finish. That's a lot. I'd like to look at the cultural references and things, because i know it's got a lot of that kind of stuff.
00:45:38
Speaker
And then people start talking about how the Simpsons was predicting the future and things like that. Yeah. And the the reason comes up on the Fraser podcast, as well as the fact the hosts adore it, is there's an episode, I guess, maybe more than one, where they're going to build a monorail in Springfield and there's a monorail in Seattle. So if the monorail ever gets featured, they discuss that monorail episode.
00:46:06
Speaker
Um, so it's this little crossover kind of funny connections. Um, but, um, I've completely lost track of where we are. Let's see.
00:46:18
Speaker
The monkey is alive. monkey's alive. That's right. Ross has turned down the man. And then he tells him the monkey is alive. That's an inside job. Yes.
00:46:29
Speaker
And then it flips back over to Beko. Yes, but oh but with that I've just got to say it one more time. This is the look where they have the line, isn't it? Do you believe everything the zoo tells you?
00:46:39
Speaker
Oh. I mean, that to me is like a deep track. If you had that on a t-shirt, like sort you only like real friends enthusiasts would recognize that line.
00:46:50
Speaker
And I just love it. like it The ridiculousness of it, but he's so serious. Oh my gosh. That would be an amazing like deep ah deep tracks quotes.
00:47:04
Speaker
Yes. Yes. that one be Way up there. I love it. We go back to, uh, what was it called? Get Beppo, Bocco. What was it called? that but Yeah.
00:47:17
Speaker
And Joey, I think he's trying to tell Erica, right? If I remember rightly, Luke or Joey, you know, my name's, I'm not really him, but she's not having it at all and just kisses him. And then at that point it's over for Joey.
00:47:28
Speaker
Um, Yeah, but she is absolutely convinced. There's no doubt in her mind. This Dr. Drake Ramore. um We go from there back over to the library.
00:47:41
Speaker
And that's another thing that you don't want to do. Another great Phoebe song. it's just, you know, everybody and gets the kids singing along. And unfortunately, some of the parents are not too keen on the thematic um you know, goings on of the songs.
00:48:01
Speaker
This is where, as you said in Bamboozled, they want some barnyard animals. um Which ah suddenly I'm thinking, that's right. Yeah, she does sing about barnyard animals. That's coming up.
00:48:13
Speaker
um But let's see. Yeah, this is where I was like, hold on. Have I got all the notes? Because then we go back to the zoo again. in the nocturnal house. Right, that's it. In the nocturnal house.
00:48:26
Speaker
And this are Yeah, I think it maybe I was out of order. This is where the guy actually says that Marcel was stolen in the break-in. Yes, with the the snowy egret, the two-toed sloth, and three sweatshirts.
00:48:40
Speaker
I'm trying to think. of That's familiar. like Maybe I've seen that, but i've I've got a feeling that that might be cut on the stream. Oh, really? might be wrong. i made Again, I was um i've watched it early today, but I'm going to check that.
00:48:58
Speaker
um Because I do love that scene. i love that guy. yeah Again, just just kind of weird and weird enough to be a memorable character. But i love that he is somebody, I didn't realize that that is Dan Castaneda, whatever it is, the Simpsons guy. like Because he's just another star, another star.
00:49:19
Speaker
Yes, because there are so many in this episode. It's it's ridiculous. And then two of the directors, the producers are in there. And I mean, and all the like face stars. And then there's this guy who's the voice actor and he is a big star.
00:49:36
Speaker
Oh, another um Frasier connection is that, you know, Frasier, Kelsey Grammer is sexual Bob. Oh, he does the voice of sexual Bob. Just another, just, just remember that one.
00:49:49
Speaker
Is that right? Huh? Yeah. Yep. Sure. Sure. That's right. yeah go bill Yeah. Got to, got to get into that. um ah Again, we skip back to the library, right? I do like this joke. It's a simple joke, but what's the setup? But that's where Chandler's like, that's where I left my Clydesdales.
00:50:12
Speaker
Oh, whenever he comes in, he's like, it actually is the moonshine monkey. And then I'm going to go and they're filming here and whatever.
00:50:24
Speaker
wait oh what does he say yeah best something or i'm gonna call the beer or the company it's something about yes yes because he goes i know that's what i did when i lost my clydesdale that's right gonna call the beer company and see if i can see him or something yes i like that that clydesdale's joke was funny um but phoebe is saying about barnyard animals but still can't quite understand what is appropriate and what is not um She's on on the struggle bus with that.
00:50:54
Speaker
But that that kind of tracks for Phoebe, I think. Yeah. yeah And that's okay. Yeah, it's who she is. It's who she is, and we love her. um Let's see. And this, I feel like we're getting to This might be like the pinnacle scene the episode. I love this scene. Yes.
00:51:16
Speaker
It made me laugh both times. No, I'm lying. I was snapping during this part. The first time was funny. The first time was so funny and it burned into my memory.
00:51:30
Speaker
yeah So but the thing that I loved about it, we we'll talk about what happens quickly. see They're all watching Days of Our Lives um and then Erica shows up and she doesn't really understand how he's on the TV, gets mad at him.
00:51:44
Speaker
But it's the way that all the characters in the background break. Jennifer Aniston is I mean, she is on the struggle bus. Yeah. She is covering her mouth. can see her shaking. You can see Courtney Cox breaking.
00:51:58
Speaker
ah you see Matthew Perry breaking. Yeah. And Matthew Perry was not supposed to throw water at the boy. Really? Yeah.
00:52:09
Speaker
I thought I knew that, so I Googled it. That whole line about you leave the toilet seat up, and it was completely improvised on the spot. Okay, and that's why he looks so genuinely happy.
00:52:21
Speaker
Because it's... Yeah, that's one of the famous... Oh my gosh, that is so hilarious. Yeah, it's one of the sort of famous improvs of the whole show. It's brilliant.
00:52:35
Speaker
Oh, it is so funny. yeah Yeah, because she comes in and she's they're like, turn the TV off, and then she's you know, there, and then he's trying, she's looking for Sabrina.
00:52:48
Speaker
Right. And then she's in the water. And then Rachel's like, yeah, and throws the water. and I mean, i yeah it's, yeah, watching it again, ah because yeah this is one those scenes that I know this scene, so i love watching this the the actors that are in the background and because they're all dying.
00:53:08
Speaker
Like, it's so good. But they don't, but it doesn't, it's not out of because she comes in and she's so mad.
00:53:18
Speaker
Like, I feel like it's an appropriate reaction. Like, Oh my God, is this real life? You know? run And really it's, Oh my gosh, this is happening. And this is so silly.
00:53:32
Speaker
It's just brilliant. I mean, one of the best scenes of this season without a doubt, I think, um, We go back to Central Park. Phoebe's been fired from the library gig. It didn't last long.
00:53:46
Speaker
um But then I think Ross comes in and he's tracked down Marcel. He is in New York. He's on this movie set. Very excited. um Phoebe, I love this. Phoebe returns to playing in Central Park. But then the the kid comes in.
00:54:02
Speaker
He's like, are you the lady that tells the truth? Wait, wait, wait. Oh. No? let See, i got I may have things in the wrong order here.
00:54:15
Speaker
Let's see, what do you have?
00:54:25
Speaker
Well, I thought, okay, you know who the little boy is that comes in? I don't have in my notes that that's whenever the little kid walks in. Oh, there it is. Okay, never mind.
00:54:37
Speaker
okay. morris No, i don't know who that kid is. see Okay, okay. I'm going to tell you who that kid is, but hang on. Okay. So Chris Isaac is in there and he fires Phoebe.
00:54:49
Speaker
Right. And tells her all of that. Okay. And then she's like, what, you want me to be like a big, stupid purple dinosaur? Then he's like, no, I don't want you to be Barney. That's right. Who's Barney? Barney. Yes. And then um Ross comes in and he says, you know, that Marcel's happy and healthy and filming Outbreak 2, know, whatever, here in Manhattan. Yes.
00:55:13
Speaker
Well, then that's whenever the little boy walks in. That's right. Taj Mowry. Taj Mowry. Taj Mowry. Okay. And who is that? Yes. Do you know who Tia and ti Tamara Mowry are?
00:55:26
Speaker
Oh, I do. That was, ah don't tell me. Sister, sister? Sister, sister. Yes. This their little brother. Really? Uh-huh. And he's been in a lot of stuff. Okay. Yeah.
00:55:38
Speaker
Yeah. But I was like, I know that kid, but that's exactly who that was. Interesting. Yeah, have they continued to act? These two ladies?
00:55:50
Speaker
They did. Okay, and then they didn't for a long time. And then one of them got married and has a very American, normal you know husband and kids and all of that. And then the other sister went back into acting.
00:56:06
Speaker
so I couldn't tell you what all she's done. But um I know they had a reality or she had a reality show. And that's why I even know that is because I watched an episode. Right.
00:56:19
Speaker
I always thought they were just such nice girls. And evil right I wanted to see them like do great things. and Right. And hope things worked out for them. Yeah. Yeah. I love the way that all the kids come into Central Park.
00:56:33
Speaker
There's something kind of Annie-esque about it. Like all these kids watchd just wandering around Manhattan. And then they all descend on the lady us the truth. Yeah.
00:56:45
Speaker
I just love it. Um, and this is what, so after this, but i go to the film set and, um, they start singing, uh, you know, in the jungle, whatever it's actually called, um, to try and get Marcel's attention.
00:57:01
Speaker
This song has a very, very special place in my heart. Um, it's a stupid story, stupid memory. But when I left, when I went to college the first time, we all, a group of us who were friends at college all went out for a night out in Glasgow and we were walking down the street and everybody just started singing this song.
00:57:23
Speaker
And my friend, I mean, 15 people just all going a whim, a whim, walking down the street at one in the morning. like And my friend Craig breaks into the, like you know, the falsetto that Joey does.
00:57:37
Speaker
And it just, i' We'd had just enough and then beverages that night to find that very funny. And it was just, it was one of those core college memories, you know? know So every time I hear that that, I'm transported back to that funny, funny night.
00:57:55
Speaker
um But yeah, they get Marcel's attention. um And does Marcel then run to Ross at that moment? He does. And he runs up on his shoulder. Yep.
00:58:06
Speaker
That's right. Right after Joey starts hitting that falsetto. Now, does this where it ends? for Or I suppose it doesn't end for you at all. um Like the scene closes and then the new scene starts.
00:58:20
Speaker
And what's the new scene for you? Do you remember? Yeah. Hang on. So they were on the movie sets.
00:58:32
Speaker
And he says, you know, we're friends with the monkey. I brought Harry Elefante. And they're talking to the guy. and he's like, you know, he's under a lot of pressure with all the acting and things. Okay.
00:58:46
Speaker
And they were like, ah like is he famous? or you know And they said, in human terms, he's like Sybil Shepard. So in between... ros's ah Marcel jumping on Ross's shoulders and that scene I go back to Central Park where Phoebe teaches Rob Donan smelly cat whoa yeah no that does not happen And I've read a little bit about it, and I need to go back and check again. So basically, she sings Smelly Cat. He's playing the guitar too, which is why him saying that he doesn't know much about music is odd.
00:59:25
Speaker
But then he does this sort of falsetto thing, and she kind of teases him a little bit about, oh, you know you need to break it down an octave or two or something. But apparently what he is singing, ah guess he is a musician.
00:59:38
Speaker
This guy is Chris Isaac guy. You don't know who Chris Isaac is? I don't think so. Oh, okay. Am i missing out? All right. Yeah. Yeah. No, he is, I, you probably do.
00:59:50
Speaker
You just don't realize that you know who he is. Well, the, the kind of falsetto-y thing he does is one of his songs that gets featured in Friends at some point.
01:00:01
Speaker
Yeah. So I'm not sure what song it is, but he's not just making up something random. Um, It's, uh, he has some song. Is it Wicked Game?
01:00:14
Speaker
Could be. Because, like, that's his most favorite, or favorite, famous song. It could be. i I would need to hear the song. But it's just three or four seconds of this kind of falsetto-y thing that apparently it is featured in Friends, the actual song.
01:00:30
Speaker
Okay. Okay. But, yeah, that's funny that I've got that scene, which is very unusual, and then you don't. and So is that the end of the episode?
Phoebe and Chris Isaak's 'Smelly Cat'
01:00:40
Speaker
Is that like where they end it?
01:00:41
Speaker
i think I think that's the end of part one. ah hey from it is ok Okay. So I had to look. Yes, his song, it is Wicked Game.
01:00:53
Speaker
Okay. i And whenever you hear it, you'll know that song. like It was so famous. And the ah music video was a really big deal. Okay.
01:01:04
Speaker
And it was like black and white and they're walking on the beach. Okay. We'll have to look that one up. But anyway, yeah. So actually, like in about two episodes is whenever that song will play.
01:01:17
Speaker
Okay. so it's not far away. That's good. We'll look out for that. But you're right. Joey's trying to get a part on in the movie. youre like ya Yeah, he is. He grabs Phoebe, right? And he's like pretending to be all excited and Yes, and okay, and then the directors that are sitting there are the two guys that that work on the actual show, the actual guys. Yes, yes, David Crane and somebody.
01:01:42
Speaker
And Wright, is it Jerry Wright? I don't know, maybe I made that. Something. No, I can't remember the name of the other one. Kevin Bright. kevin Kevin Bright. Kevin Bright, Kevin Bright, that's it, well done. um Now, they're sitting there, and then...
01:02:01
Speaker
we We meet Susie and she's talking to somebody when we first see her. Do you know who she's talking to?
01:02:13
Speaker
No. It's the blonde lady, right? Okay, is it the lady who writes, friends? It is not. Okay. i well I have no idea then. The lady she's talking to is Julie Roberts' real life sister.
01:02:29
Speaker
Oh, really? Yep. A lady called Lisa Roberts Gillen. Gillian Gillen? Lisa Roberts. Okay. anyway So at this time that they were filming this episode,
01:02:40
Speaker
Matthew Perry and Julia Roberts were actually dating. I thought that, again, a book that I've read about friends. I didn't go and check that. It might have been Matthew Perry's autobiography because you read that one as well. Yes, it could have been Because it talks about that then. Right.
01:02:58
Speaker
Yeah. But, oh, yeah. Isn't that interesting? I love that. good. I'm not sure how I feel about what she did, but I love the character. i'd love how it played out.
01:03:10
Speaker
um it's kind of a long game and kind of leading him on a lot to get back. We'll discuss whatever we get in. Because I feel like you're baiting me right now. You know what? I think I unintentionally am.
01:03:29
Speaker
I'm not meaning to, but it does sound like that, you know, now that I step back from my words. So we'll we'll talk about that when we get to the end of the restaurant, will we? When Chandler walks out of the restaurant.
01:03:42
Speaker
um So let's see. Ross and Monica meet Jean-Claude Van Damme, I must tell you. Okay. ohbo Go, go. Yep. but Wait. Okay. Okay. So do you remember whenever she said that she walks up to she walks up to Chandler and she's like, you know, it's Susan Moss from fourth grade.
01:04:00
Speaker
you remember I would carry around an Animal Crackers box like it was a purse? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Okay. Did you all have Animal Cracker boxes like that? Oh, okay.
01:04:11
Speaker
They were so cute. I loved them. Right. did they They were little cardboard boxes. And they had a white string that like went around it. Okay. it looked like a it looked like a cage, like a circus animal cage because it was Barnum's Animal Crackers.
01:04:35
Speaker
Right. and um and But you could carry it and if you took out the animal crackers, it could be like a little purse. But whenever she said that, it made me laugh because I was like, oh, my gosh, I used to do that, too.
01:04:49
Speaker
I love that. No, I think I can picture the box, but not like with the string, but the the red and yellow. sure they don't have the string anymore because, oh, my gosh, probably somebody allowed their child to wrap it around their finger and their finger. Probably, and probably.
01:05:06
Speaker
So, but, yeah, but I just, that, whenever she said that, I was like, ah. I love that you've got that connection there. It's core thing, yeah.
01:05:17
Speaker
Yes. um As you know, and I've mentioned on this podcast before, earlier this year, it's right about when we started the podcast, Kate and I went out to Los Angeles at had a conference, but we did the Warner Brothers tour. And one of the stops on the trolley tour is the alleyway that Monica and Rachel dive into.
01:05:39
Speaker
um when they see jean-claude van damme and they say this is where they jump in and if you look this way you can see i mean you can see it's that that set um it's the same it's the same bit of street that they shot a lot of annie on incidentally um it's funny how they can dress it up so differently um the same place um uh but yeah so that was you know it was kind of like oh we've been there you know one of those moments because it's one of the things they point out Um, even though so many other bits of friends were filmed on that bit of the set.
01:06:12
Speaker
Um, but let's see Susie and Chandler, let's see. They do agree to go on a date. And then this is where she's like, how many more times i have to touch you on the arm before you ask me out?
01:06:25
Speaker
Um, and that's where he's like, yeah, was it our knees eight o'clock? He just says it kind of quickly. Um, But Susie ends up over at his apartment, right?
01:06:37
Speaker
And they're kind of making it out on the couch prior to dinner. And she asks him to wear her underwear. Wait, wait, wait. tell me Tell me where I'm going going off track. Okay. so they went and they talked to Jean-Claude Van Damme.
01:06:53
Speaker
And then he keeps asking Rachel out. Yes. Monica says... um So then Rachel walks over and she's like, you just kept asking me out. and Monica's like, well, you know, if you want to go. And and so she's like, okay, great.
01:07:08
Speaker
Thanks. Bye. That's right. And kind of thumbs up or waves or something. She said, yes, yes. Right. And then you go back to the coffee house and Rachel's talking about how her date with Jean-Claude Van Damme went.
01:07:23
Speaker
And then Monica or Rachel stands up and she's like, does anybody want anything? And Monica says, do you have this? I saw that.
01:07:34
Speaker
i didn't write it down. Yes. Okay. and And Monica's like, um never mind. I'll get it. Because if I ask you to get it, you'll drink it yourself. Right. Yes.
01:07:45
Speaker
And then Ross is blowing off Joey to hang hang out with the monkey. oh and then Chandler walks in and he says,
01:07:56
Speaker
you know, ah put a fork in me, I'm done. And Phoebe does not understand. That's right. What do you do to a vegetable or an eggplant or something? and then you yeah Fine, eat me. I'm done. That's right. Yes.
01:08:09
Speaker
Yes. Yeah. I forgot to write that whole scene down, but yes, that was very much in there. oh Then it goes over to, because then you have the idea that they were, they're already kind messing around.
01:08:22
Speaker
right and enthusiasmy and she's playing this long game about getting chandler to wear underwear yes so we yeah they do that and this is where when ross's apartment and i wrote my notes i was completely wrong dragonfly art it's not a clock it's big letters but because i want to make sure i brought that up um and what is it that ross is making something and joey's like ohh but then it's got meal one minute banana bread that's it banana bread with mealworm and because he's yeah important he's like oh no okay now have you ever been to ah now i'm trying to think where it was i went on a field trip somewhere with george or last year
01:09:13
Speaker
And inside of the insect, was it the pro maybe? I don't remember. But um we were walking through and it was set up like a cafeteria.
01:09:27
Speaker
But they were talking about how in food, like there's um there's always allowed to be a certain amount of bugs before they they can't package it to put it in the grocery store.
01:09:43
Speaker
And so they were saying, you know, like there's nothing wrong with eating crickets or flies or mealworms and things like that. And they had like cookies that were made with mealworms and all of this and you didn't pay for it, but you could walk through and then you would take it and eat it.
01:10:02
Speaker
Right. And so I'm with all these kids that are like, flip it out about it. And, you know, they had like salsa with, I don't know some kind of bug and cookie with some kind of bug and ah Sounds very Perot, like they would do that.
01:10:20
Speaker
I'm sure most listeners at this point know, but both Deanna and i live not too far from each other in North Texas in the Dallas area. The Perot Museum is a and get near downtown, right?
01:10:31
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Downtown Dallas. yeah So, ah yeah, great museum if you're ever in the Dallas area. yeah They put a lot of good exhibits. and Oh, yeah. lot of hand-off stuff. It's a good museum, the Perot.
01:10:46
Speaker
It's so much fun. So much fun. Yeah. um Yeah. So poor old Ross, he's not going to get to see Marcel after all. He's ah yeah he's a busy monkey. He's got things to do.
01:10:57
Speaker
um But we we go to the girls' apartment and Monica and Rachel are going at it about Jean-Claude Van Damme. It starts off with some arguing verbal gymnastics and then they start to flick each other in the forehead and it just descends into chaos.
01:11:14
Speaker
Did you see Monica take off Rachel's sock and start beating her with it? Beating her with her socks, yes. who was dying.
01:11:25
Speaker
thought that was so funny. was so well done. um And then, you know, Phoebe kind of has to mediate and the street side of, um, of Phoebe comes out and she grabs them both by the ear. It's just enough to art, regain control of the situation.
01:11:43
Speaker
Yeah. she does Yeah. Phoebe's not going to tolerate that nonsense. Um, then see We'll come back to that because the fighting is not finished.
01:11:53
Speaker
We'll come back to that in a little bit. um Let's see, Ross and Joey and one of the cast, somebody from the movie, are on this date with Chandler and Susie, which I initially thought was really weird. Of course, we have to have Ross and Joey there, like to set this whole thing up to, to, I mean, man, this just gets better and better, this storyline.
01:12:19
Speaker
So that gives us, it's weird. ah Well, and I thought it was weird too, that, okay, number one, did you notice Joey's jacket? Same from the wedding?
01:12:30
Speaker
Same from the wedding. And whenever he was on the date with, some what's her name, with Erica as well. And I was like, it's that terrible jacket. In both those scenes, he's wearing that ill-fitting jacket.
01:12:44
Speaker
I didn't catch it that it was on the date with Erica, too. I just noticed as the wedding jacket. Yes, yes. And then ah Phoebe's wearing her moose or reindeer moose sweater that she was wearing a couple of episodes ago. Right. That we talked about a lot.
01:13:04
Speaker
But I thought it was weird. There were two things about the fact that that woman was there. that I thought it was strange. Number one, that it was only one because she was from the movie set.
01:13:17
Speaker
She was from the movie set. So it was strange to me that she only brought one friend with her. It seems like you would have brought two. And they they were sitting at a table for six.
01:13:29
Speaker
So ye and that was strange. But then also at the end, whenever everything is said and done, that she's still there. Yes.
01:13:39
Speaker
It was an odd, I thought she might have more interaction with Joey, but basically she says, like, what is it? I've got nothing to with casting. Right. You know, that's like her only line. He doesn't want anything to do with her. Yeah. Yeah, it's a little odd.
01:13:56
Speaker
But Susie has gone into full force. I mean, it's beyond flirting at this point. She is making her intentions very clear to Chandler. And he follows suit by following her.
01:14:09
Speaker
Once he's like, I'm going to the bathroom now with this. Yes. Almost like boyhood excitement. um Very funny. And he makes the comment about, i went to an all boys high school and God's making it up to
Chandler's Comedic Revenge
01:14:23
Speaker
me now. Yes. and Yes. I had forgotten about that.
01:14:26
Speaker
This is God's way of of looking out for him at this point. ah But they end up, um without getting into too much detail, basically they end up in the in the bathroom, in the stall.
01:14:39
Speaker
Susie, this is her endgame. She ends up stealing all of Chandler's clothes. And I think this would be a good point for you to tell me what you think about this. I'm just saying.
01:14:50
Speaker
Okay, they were in fourth grade whenever this situation happened. Right. She was bullied about it. So she was probably nine Right.
01:15:02
Speaker
She was bullied about it for the next nine or ten years.
01:15:08
Speaker
Right. Susie Underpants until she was 18 and graduated and was able to leave. That is true. Chandler at this point he was there and then he left. He went to another high school. he has no idea what all.
01:15:23
Speaker
But she was tormented for all those years. I am not saying that it's right, like somebody does you wrong, so whatever.
01:15:34
Speaker
But man, it made for some good laughs because my favorite line was whenever she said, call me in 20 years and let me know if you're still upset about this.
01:15:46
Speaker
Right. Because she's like, how can you still be mad about that? You know? and so, it a little more than a little unhinged that she went through all of that?
01:15:59
Speaker
Yeah. Little psychotic, probably. But same as the lady that shot Phoebe in the butt with the dart.
01:16:11
Speaker
um am no am ah Louisa? Louisa, yes. Right. you know like Not to do you any favors. Yeah. Is it Chris Rock who does? Did she not do him any favors? Because she could have just been straight up hateful to him.
01:16:29
Speaker
Whenever they were on the she could have gotten him kicked off the set. Right. And that would have been. But she would ah she went a little touch psychotic like this is a little bit crazy.
01:16:42
Speaker
I think that's my thing. Like if there was a I know this situation, how could ever happen? But if she stumbled across Chandler and went, that's Chandler Bing, the guy that did that, and she had an opportunity in that moment to steal his clothes, I think I would fully support it.
01:16:57
Speaker
Like, I get it. You got to be able to close that door. It's the long game of it. Like, going up to his apartment, making out with him, all that stuff. That's where it goes out. This is, yeah, again, a touch psychotic.
01:17:10
Speaker
I think it's Chris Rock, might be Chris Rock, some well-known famous comedian does a whole bunch of skits and the whole and he ends every one of the mini sort of skits with, excuse me, I'm not saying it's right, but I understand.
01:17:25
Speaker
and that's And that's one of these situations where we're not necessarily condoning it, but we get it. Yeah. you know, you know. Yes, yes, yes, absolutely. Absolutely.
01:17:37
Speaker
But I'm sorry. Like, this was beautiful. Like, yeah that was... But let me also throw this out there. Of all the people that you see as an adult, I cannot say I would remember, especially as much as everybody's looks change.
Recognizing Childhood Faces as Adults
01:18:04
Speaker
Right. You run into somebody... And be like, oh, I know. You look just like you did whenever you were nine. No. Like, i look back at pictures of, like, Fred. Right. know, whenever he was nine.
01:18:21
Speaker
And then he is him now. But even ah ten more years from now, ah somebody who met him whenever he was in fourth grade and hasn't seen him since, they're not going to recognize him.
01:18:35
Speaker
No, and it's not like there's social media or things where you can kind of keep up with people. i mean, she will not have seen him and I mean, since he was, like said, about nine or 10.
01:18:47
Speaker
Right, right, right. Nine, right? Eight, is it? Yeah. Yeah, I think of people that I knew at that point I've not kept in touch with. I wouldn't recognize them at all.
01:19:00
Speaker
I mean, there's just no way. um So unless you know she heard Joey call his name ah something, you know it's an unusual name, but i but we don't see or hear that. but That's a good point.
01:19:14
Speaker
That might be the only way that that situation would play out. may I agree with you. But yeah, the fact that her brain immediately went to this is my long game plan.
Monica and Jean-Claude Van Damme's Interaction
01:19:30
Speaker
Wow. Yeah, quite something, Susie Moss. and Well, let's see. we we We're still on the set, I guess, or maybe it's later that night. Monica and Jean-Claude Van Damme are walking.
01:19:44
Speaker
I think they're walking through the set. Is that right? being rachels skinnna Yeah. let send them um Yeah, and he's still in his camo. Hopefully that's not what he would wear on a date.
01:19:56
Speaker
That's right. I would hope not. Um, and that's right. Cause that's what now causes the second fight back in the apartment. Um, where we end off with this sort of okay. Corral standoff in my mind with the sweater.
01:20:10
Speaker
Uh, what does Rachel say? It's her third date sweater. Uh, huh. And she has Monica's, um, bag and the, the, the sauce. Yeah. And it's, it's a standoff.
01:20:24
Speaker
Yeah, it's pretty pretty bad on both their parts because that sweater could could be expensive and it's obviously got some sentimental value. And then, i mean, who knows? i mean, Monica's parts and the contents could cost very little. It could cost hundreds.
01:20:41
Speaker
Could be a very expensive argument that they've just had. um But Phoebe to the rescue, once again. I just wrote that she helps break them up. I don't quite remember what happens.
01:20:53
Speaker
Look at your purse. Look at your sweater. Look at your... That's it. Look at yourselves. That's it. Yeah. Brilliantly done. Yes.
01:21:05
Speaker
um And this, yeah I mean, I hate to kind of rush through that scene, but again, we're getting to the pinnacle of the second part here. um The first episode, or the first part of this, ends on the high note in the boys' apartment.
01:21:21
Speaker
We're here in the bathroom, and this is where end up with Joey, with Ross, with Chandler, and this situation. And it's...
01:21:34
Speaker
uh what is it ross that goes like oh hey tushy yeah yeah and then joey says somebody's flossing that's right that's trying to remember what he says because it was funny yeah um and then that poor man walks in and they're both and and he had just said a let me have your underwear or i'll give you 50 bucks for your underwear something um and it's and i know it's in the opening credits for at least ah you know lots of episodes that where they all kind of jar their head around when that guy walks in like just funny physical comedy and the timing of that yeah perfect just brilliantly done and it kind of ends with chandler walking out with the door um just i mean it's just fantastic um
01:22:31
Speaker
Yeah, just, and there's kind of the, it's not slapstick music, but funny music playing over it.
Joey's Movie Role and Marcel's Appearance
01:22:39
Speaker
um Just kind of the hilarity of it all. Because, of course, I assume he is still naked on the other side.
01:22:46
Speaker
Or at least wearing Susie Moss's underwear. You know, there's not much going on behind the door. So the people on the other side... let's go, gave him his underwear. Does he? Well, I felt, oh you don't know.
01:22:59
Speaker
But I felt like he did because whenever a Ross walks back to the table, he looks very uncomfortable. And so I took that to mean that he gave him his underwear.
01:23:11
Speaker
That's a good, i didn't catch that. that that would That would kind of track because Chandler's walking, he's still walking through restaurant and people on the other side of the door.
01:23:24
Speaker
Right. And he's got his socks on, don't worry. He does. It's even like it's so silly, but just like where he kind of, in any other situation, would be a little rude, like getting the maitre d' of the waiter to open the door for him with that hand gesture.
01:23:39
Speaker
But what's he going to do? He's carrying a door. He needs some help and right to get at the door. ah And we do see Chandler in the next scene. He's at Central Park and Phoebe's teasing him. Yeah, that was funny.
01:23:55
Speaker
think He's got a few zingers, a few one-liners. know his willie Joey's very excited, though, because he enters and he got into the movie. he's He plays the part in the movie, which we'll see, i think, in the very final scene.
01:24:11
Speaker
But then Marcel shows up at Central Park in the glass.
01:24:16
Speaker
You know, meant to be a very sweet moment for Ross, but again, how's this monkey roaming around the city? I don't know. But... but it's sweet it's sweet and good for rocks gets it guess a little happiness um oh i wrote a whole list so they're walking around looking in windows reading newspapers took a picture with the poster ad ate ice cream and then they were playing with the elephant so that's right that's right from trivia from bamboozled
01:24:47
Speaker
uh-huh um and it kind of ends i feel this is a funny place to end because they're just suddenly back outside the movie set and phoebe makes a joke about borrowing chandler's g-string because the string and her guitar broke um do you have that you've got that yes yeah to me i mean it's like it's a funny joke you know there's the setup But then that's kind of where it ends for me, except for this last scene with the movie.
01:25:15
Speaker
Did you have the last scene with Jean-Claude Van Damme? Yeah, so we do have that one where they basically they're having to film this scene over and over and over again. no Oh, no. The one where Rachel is kissing him and then Monica's kissing him and then Rachel kisses him.
01:25:33
Speaker
No, see, that makes sense because I did think... this The only fault I've really got with this episode is it kind of whimpered out at the end because I thought this was an odd last scene.
01:25:44
Speaker
But we're missing at the last scene on the stream. Well, okay. So the way that it goes for me is that they're walking around, Ross is walking around with Marcel.
01:25:55
Speaker
And then it goes back to the movie set and it's the girls and Jean-Claude Van Damme. And Jean-Claude Van Damme tells Monica that Drew Barrymore was very disappointed that they weren't together.
01:26:08
Speaker
So then Rachel kisses Jean-Claude goodbye. And then Monica kisses Jean-Claude Van Damme goodbye. And then Rachel kisses him again. and then Monica like pulls him off. And then he's like, hey, ladies. And they're all like, no, we're good. bye Then it goes over and they they're putting Marcel into the car.
01:26:34
Speaker
No, see, that's my missing. saying Oh, okay. They put Marcel into the car and then he tells Marcel, you know, keep the people drinking the beer. And then they are, you know, Marcel's like looking out the window and they're watching him and then they turn around and then they're walking down the street. And then that's whenever Phoebe says, you know, can I borrow your G Street?
01:26:58
Speaker
See, that makes so much more sense. Excuse me, because they do, for me, they're just talking Central Park. And then it shows Ross hanging out with Marcel, and then it just cuts back to the movie set really for just this one joke about the G string.
01:27:15
Speaker
And then that's kind of it, except for the final scene with Joey. Wow. Yeah, I remember thinking that it's weird that they've cut back for this one line where they could have thrown that joke in at Central Park.
01:27:27
Speaker
So that makes a lot of sense. But we do finish with Joey having to do many, many, many takes of this last scene where it says what's the song called back then you sort of say this man is dying yeah can't you see this man is dying yes but joey's he's struggling he just can't quite get it and then ends up with being can you see this man is dead and they just cover him up It's a great ending.
01:27:59
Speaker
I thought it was great ending. That's a good ending. I'm really glad, though, that there was more to that previous scene. Yeah. Because thought that was just peculiar.
01:28:09
Speaker
They just, like, cut it off. So that kind of ends this big double bumper epi episode. um Now, it was Super Bowl XXX.
Super Bowl XXX and Becoming a Fan
01:28:21
Speaker
Do you happen to know who played and who won Super Bowl XXX on the night this premiered? I don't, but was it the Cowboys and the Bills and the Cowboys won? You're half right. It was the Cowboys won, but they beat the Steelers.
01:28:35
Speaker
Oh, there you go. I wouldn't i will wouldn't call myself a big Steelers fan, but the Steelers are my team. Oh, okay. Long story short, when I first came to the States, I stayed with a friend in Pittsburgh.
01:28:50
Speaker
Her brother taught me, kind we had a conversation about the game of football and he kind of taught me the rules and said, I'll teach you the rules, but have to be a Steelers fan for forever. So I said, sure.
01:29:01
Speaker
So I always look out for the Steelers and they're my team. If I want a team to win, I want it to be the Steelers. I really like, for me, football I like as more of a entertainment, social thing, watching the games on a Sunday, you know, all of that stuff rather than being, it doesn't ruin my day if the Steelers lose kind of thing.
01:29:20
Speaker
But I'm going to guess if you had a team, if you, I don't how passionate about football you are, but the Cowboys would be it. and Being a native of of Texas. So it's quite nice that we're talking about this and it was your team and my team playing.
01:29:33
Speaker
That is nice. You know, quite like that. And super nice that the Cowboys were the ones that won. Indeed. Oh, sorry about that. It's okay. Steelers have won more, I believe. in Wow.
01:29:47
Speaker
Not in the though. Not in the 90s. That was the That was the Cowboys. I would love the Steelers to win the Super Bowl. I've seen them win the Super Bowl. It's an amazing thing. I would like to see the – I know most people who don't love the Cowboys tend to hate them.

But that's not me. I'd like to see the Cowboys win the whole thing just because so many of my friends are Cowboys fans. And we live here. I think that would be an amazing thing to experience, to live somewhere where they win the Super Bowl. um Yeah.
01:30:17
Speaker
This is a big deal. It's a big deal whenever they would win because they would and like Dallas wouldn't have school. They would shut down school and they'd have the ticker tape parade. i know my mom took my brother down, but it was because he wasn't in school yet.
01:30:33
Speaker
Yeah, see, I think that would be a really cool thing to experience. Yeah. So here here's hoping that the Cowboys... Come on, Cowboys. Yes, we want the Cowboys to win this year. That would be good.
Best Performance Debate
01:30:44
Speaker
um So let's think. Yeah, this a big one. I honestly don't know my answer to the question. So throwing it over to you, your Gunther Central Park, for this big double bumper episode.
01:30:57
Speaker
Okay, I had a hard hi had a hard time out because I was like, everybody, everybody, like the main six, everybody was awesome.
01:31:09
Speaker
Everybody. To clarify, can we go, we can go with anybody, right? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. just And so I did not, didn't know why, because I, I couldn't pick one of the main six. Cause I was like, I, I cannot justify why one had a better storyline or was funnier or anything.
01:31:30
Speaker
right And so I was asking Joseph, you know, which one was your favorite? And he was like, oh, I think Brooke Shields. She was so funny. I'm like, she really was.
01:31:40
Speaker
But appreciated the complete crazy unhingedness of Susan Moss. Susie Moss.
01:31:51
Speaker
Susie Moss. I mean, as long as I can. And we had some. She was unhinged crazy, just like Brooke Shields was unhinged crazy. But um she was in touch with reality while ah Erica was not.
01:32:06
Speaker
So that's my... you know so that's my Gunther Central Park. I love it. And just as I asked you, I wrote down mine, and mine is also Susie.
01:32:20
Speaker
Again, I think now that, because I was kind of in between, honestly, yeah, Erica and Susie, I think the fact that you dropped in that they were dating at the time adds just another wrinkle to how great that acting is.
01:32:37
Speaker
You know, because there's obviously a personal relationship there. um And yeah, I don't agree with what Susie did, but I kind of like it. Like this part of me that's like, it makes for brilliant story.
01:32:51
Speaker
And the way she did, don't know, there is something redeeming about it, even though it's, you know, no, you shouldn't do that. that's Right. But that's the beauty of television. They can do all kinds of things that in real life probably is not the best.
01:33:06
Speaker
Right. But yeah, I like... ah Julie Roberts played a fantastic, and I quite like her as an actress. um I love the movie Notting Hill. um And I think she does a great job at that. um Now, let's see. We're sitting on the movie set. We're in our little collapsible directors-like chairs.
01:33:24
Speaker
and we're filming And we're filming late, so we've got the coffee going. How many cups of coffee would you award?
Rating the Episode
01:33:31
Speaker
I'm excited to hear you your answer for this one. I'm at nine.
01:33:35
Speaker
dying Or nine and a half. I think I'm going to do nine and a half. Right. So nine and an espresso shot. Nine espresso. I don't know how one would make this episode better, except for heart.
01:33:53
Speaker
Like with the exception of Ross and Marcel, you know, I'm a sucker for some really good heart in there. Yeah. But yeah, like nine and a half, nine ah nine mugs and an espresso shot. as I like it. We're pretty much on the same page. I've stuck with nine. Okay. I'm going with nine.
01:34:14
Speaker
ah Again, there's so much going for this. And it's, I mean, I i't yeah i know I've not given any a 10 or even a nine and a half. So we are two you know halfway through season two.
01:34:26
Speaker
And so this is either, i mean, my favorite or joint favorite so far, I think. I haven't gone back looked. And it yeah it's funny, it's you know obviously, the I think Friends was really coming into its own and they were making a huge push after the Super Bowl with all these celebrities.
01:34:45
Speaker
And it's not the celebrities that make it for me. um It's the storylines. Like it's so well written for the celebrities. And, you know, maybe Brooke Shields and Julia Roberts and Jean-Claude Van Damme, to lesser extent him, they pull off these storylines so well.
01:35:03
Speaker
Maybe there's something to that. um I just think the writing in this is so good and yeah so well done. It's a very, very strong day name for me.
01:35:15
Speaker
Yes, yes, absolutely. think but well Before we wrap this up, any final thoughts about the one after the Super Bowl? I think that this this is my favorite so far, for sure.
01:35:30
Speaker
And I'll tell you, yeah, the name and the high-profile people isn't what made it, but that's what would make somebody have tuned in to watch it originally. And so – but It's like that was your hook to watch it, but then it was just good, sir solid writing and good, solid humor. And there was just so much to keep you engaged.
01:35:56
Speaker
But, yeah. that's That's my thought. Yeah. Great stories all the way through. Strong plots from Marcel in the zoo to Susie Moss to Jean-Claude Van Damme, like all of Erica, all of it.
01:36:12
Speaker
If you had one of those per episode, they would be good episodes. So to have all of these things rolled in, um and great, great job by the crew. But all right, next week, it's, again, another important one in the world of friends. It's ah the one with the prom video.
01:36:29
Speaker
Oh, I love this one. I had a funny feeling this one might pull at your heartstrings. Oh, dang. Yeah, love this one. All right.
01:36:40
Speaker
So I'm excited. Yeah. It's a good one. and and This is a strong run of shows. The next four or five, six, I think is a very strong run.
01:36:53
Speaker
There's some people that are about to pop up that I adore. Um, So, yeah, looking forward to the one with the prom video coming out next Thursday morning, as always.
01:37:06
Speaker
But on that note, thank you guys all for tuning in to the Purple Door podcast.
