Criticism of 'Woke' Companies
00:00:00
Speaker
Have you noticed that the world has gone insane?
00:00:03
Speaker
For example, tell me if these headlines ring a bell for you. Bud Light makes a special commemorative can for trans girl, Dylan Mulvaney. Dove hires a Black Lives Matter activist and 400 pound body positivity model to promote their products. Target sells chest binders and tuck friendly undergarments for kids. Are you sick of living in clown world yet? Are you tired of spending your money with woke companies that hate your values?
00:00:33
Speaker
As good libertarians and free market capitalists, we all believe in the power of voting with your dollar. But where do you go when it seems like no matter where you turn, you're surrounded by woke companies or brands?

00:02:23
Speaker
All right, welcome back to another episode of Liberty Alliance Networks. What can we do? I am, of course, your sassy, funny, smart host, Hailey Heathman back at you with another solo cast episode today. So probably be a little bit shorter on the shorter side today. But what I do want to touch on, what I do want to talk about today is the importance of showing up.
00:02:51
Speaker
So of course the name of the show is What Can We Do? So I like to talk about solutions and you know, I think the theme and what I've gathered from obviously having done a couple dozen of these episodes now and talk to lots of people and
00:03:06
Speaker
You know, really, like there's no one right answer, clearly. I mean, there's a lot of different things that we can do. And basically, it all boils down to like show up.
Local Town Hall Experiences
00:03:17
Speaker
You have to show up. That's it. Just show up. It doesn't matter where or in what capacity. You just got to show up. And so on my Instagram page, if you follow me, I'm just at Haley dot Heathman on Instagram. So make sure you follow me there.
00:03:33
Speaker
Um, but yeah, so I've done, I've kind of done a couple of like a new segment, the reels, Instagram reels, um, lately with, um, uh, what can we do Wednesday? So I'm calling out, what can we do Wednesday? Where I come on on Wednesday, talk about what can we do and offer like, just like a little mini snippet or segment of, uh, a tip or an idea of what can we do? And so I've actually landed, I've done it two, two weeks in a row because it was so important.
00:04:00
Speaker
talking about the importance of showing up. And I gave some examples of, of me, you know, I'm somebody I like to walk the walk. I don't just like talk to, I don't just talk the talk. I want to walk the walk. I don't, I hate hypocrisy. I don't want to be a hypocrite. I just, I just, I believe fervently in your deeds, matching your words.
00:04:24
Speaker
And so I try, I'm not perfect, obviously, but I try very hard to walk the walk of the things that I talk about. And so recently, it was a couple weeks ago, there was a local town hall meet and greet with our local Florida state representatives and senator.
Discussion on Florida's Legislative Session
00:04:44
Speaker
And it was a friendly town hall, it was sponsored by one of the local Republican
00:04:53
Speaker
groups or organizations we've got here. To talk about, give an update on the legislative session that Florida just closed down in Florida. Ours is a short session. We go from January through April, I think, basically. They just bang it out in just a few months. They've only got a few months to get all this legislation passed and et cetera.
00:05:14
Speaker
They are state reps who are both Republican, both pretty good, pretty strong Republicans for the most part. And it was really interesting to hear them talk about some of the bills that got passed and some of the things that didn't get passed. And then also some of the things that
00:05:32
Speaker
particularly one, our state senator, he's like things that I introduced knowing it wasn't gonna get passed and why he did that. And so then of course at the end, there was a Q&A where you could ask some questions. And so I got my hand up there first and I was the first one to be able to ask a question. And so they handed me the microphone. And so I kind of started off the Q&A session. I said, okay, show of hands here in the room. How many people here got at least one COVID jab?
00:06:02
Speaker
And of course, almost all the hands in the room went up. And I said, okay, well, show of hands then if you know somebody who was injured or even died as a result of the COVID jab. And at least 60% of the hands stayed up. And so I turned to the representatives. I said, gentlemen, thank you so much for your updates.
00:06:23
Speaker
and for all your work up there but i'm one thing i haven't heard anything about is anything to do with medical freedom you know or any help or accountability for the vaccine injured or getting accountability for the greatest crimes against humanity we've ever seen in our lifetime and actually there are some people that.
Value of Public Inquiry
00:06:41
Speaker
Like a good number of the the people in the room actually started applauding that And I said, you know look, you know, there's some medical freedom bills that were that were introduced But they didn't even get out of committee. I mean, you know, we had last year I talked about the bill that got passed last year that was watered down they did pass about a Medical freedom bill here in Florida last year, but we got the bait and switch It wasn't the one that most medical freedom advocates wanted. It was kind of like a
00:07:09
Speaker
watered down, full of loopholes style piece of legislation. And so I asked, you know, like, why didn't we hear anything about medical freedom, health freedom, accountability for COVID? We can't just sweep it under the rug. And yeah, because you know, like, like, look, and even though, and so the one, the state senator, he's, he's like,
00:07:32
Speaker
I'm not sure. I don't think it's his first term. I think he's been in there for at least one other term. He's really good. He's kind of a firebrand type, maybe a slightly lesser version of a Matt Gaetz, but he's pretty based. He's good and he's like, yeah, I'll be honest. I got the COVID jabs and I'm really upset that I did because I have suffered some health. I never had COVID and
00:07:57
Speaker
Um, you know, as soon as I got that, that COVID jab, I was sick three times after that, you know, I'm very healthy and very health conscious and yada, yada, yada. And, um, so yeah, but you know, it still wasn't a great response, you know, Oh, just these things take time and.
00:08:16
Speaker
I don't know they didn't really give a good response but the point being i didn't really expect it wasn't so much about the response it was a little bit but it was about me showing up. And holding them accountable like letting them know. We haven't forgotten about this you guys you know talk a good game and yes thank you for some of the things that you did do cuz you guys did do this but let's not forget the elephant in the room.
00:08:39
Speaker
And so as a result of my showing up, I mean, maybe nobody else was there to ask that question. So I asked that question. I got an applause for asking that question. I don't know if anybody else was going to ask it or not. And so I'm holding my own rep, Republican representatives feet to the fire to let them know.
00:09:00
Speaker
Dude, what are you all gonna do? People are still suffering, you know? You saw how many hands went up and stayed up when I asked that question. So, like,
Role of Sheriffs in Constitutional Rights
00:09:11
Speaker
everybody here has been affected and we're just gonna, like, forget about it and pretend this didn't happen? Like, no, uh-uh.
00:09:19
Speaker
And so that just one example of the value of showing up because they have to know you have to make your voice heard. If you don't make your voice heard, somebody else is going to make their voice heard and it might not be something that you want them to be talking about or it might not be in the exact manner that you want them to talk about it either. Also, so then the following week or it was like somewhat like a week or two later,
00:09:47
Speaker
I'm part of the federated republican assemblies which is a just a basic republican judeo christian republican group basically that tries to impact elections and elect
00:10:03
Speaker
pro-christian and pro-god and pro-conservative republicans in office etc etc so they hosted a candidate forum because we're gearing up of course for the fall elections locally as well there's more than just one election going on which is again really important to know and start getting informed about.
00:10:26
Speaker
which is why I was there. They were holding a candidate forum for the sheriff, which is arguably one of the most important elected offices in the nation. It gets severely overlooked in terms of how important it is. The sheriff is described as the last line of defense against tyranny, both state or government.
Importance of Local Election Involvement
00:10:51
Speaker
Or federal tyranny and so it's an extremely important position, you know, you talk about like what happened in during COVID with the lockdowns I mean you had if you had a constitutional sheriff, you know, even if there was a statewide mandate if you had a constitutional sheriff they could just refuse to enforce that mandate so if you were
00:11:13
Speaker
Caught out you know after curfew or you weren't considered an essential employee and you know They could just choose to look the other way and not enforce it if they wanted to You know any of course, you know, we're always concerned about gun control laws same thing a constitutional sheriff can has the right to not enforce any of these unconstitutional gun laws and there was that governor and Was it Nevada? I think
00:11:39
Speaker
And this this story disappeared from the headlines real quick because it was such a cluster like a bad move. But I think the and I forget the details now, but basically the Democrat governor from Nevada, basically unilaterally declared that
00:11:58
Speaker
something to do with gun control like we're not gonna that they're gonna start banning weapons or something I don't know and even the left was like whoa whoa whoa whoa so I think she kind of just like went out and went rogue on her own and without the approval of the Democrat Party or whatever
00:12:16
Speaker
And she got smacked down into reality when a bunch of sheriffs and even judges were like, yeah, no, this isn't going to fly. We're not going to enforce this. So that impresses, again, the need for having these constitutional sheriffs. So we're having an election. And our current sheriff, he's very old. He's failing health. He's retiring. And he's been good. He's a good sheriff. But he needs a replacement. And I don't know anything about the current candidates. And so I want to find out.
00:12:45
Speaker
And so right now, I think there are four candidates running. And yeah, I just wanted to be informed. I was just there. I didn't have a question because honestly, I didn't really have enough knowledge to even think of there's a question. I really just wanted to sit there and listen and see what each of the candidates have to say. So I'm lucky in my neck of the woods where honestly, any of the candidates running for sheriff, I mean, I think we'd be fine with any of them. They all sounded
00:13:13
Speaker
There really wasn't much daylight between them in terms of their positions. They all are Republicans. They're all very conservative Republicans. They all have law enforcement or prior law enforcement experience. And there's very slight differences between them. But it's still, regardless, I want to show up and find out
00:13:37
Speaker
and here for myself because you know I see you can't just rely on okay who's got the most yard signs out you know I mean I know which candidate that is but is he the best candidate I don't know maybe there's another candidate that I actually agree with more even though he doesn't have as many yard signs out
00:13:54
Speaker
Again, it just showcases the value of showing up.
Influencing Decisions in Board Meetings
00:13:57
Speaker
I want to hear for myself and then that way I can make an informed opinion, especially for this, such an underrated elected office. Again, that's just the importance of showing up. What are some other things you can show up to board meetings? That can go for anything like school board. Obviously, that's been in the news a lot recently.
00:14:17
Speaker
on social media with things like libs of tiktok and gays against groomers posting videos of people showing up to school board meetings so that they can rail against these transgender policies or these books, the bathroom policies, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I mean, extremely important that you show up there. You know, one that's overlooked, and I can't say I've done it myself, but I know it has
00:14:42
Speaker
something we should look into more are hospital boards. I didn't even know that those were a thing. I didn't even know that hospital boards were something you could even run for. Like there are certain hospital boards you can try and like it's an elected position, I guess. But yeah, you can show up to hospital board meetings too. So again, you know, something that like during COVID and especially in the aftermath of COVID, like again, it's not over. We still have to hold these people to account and we still have to make changes.
00:15:09
Speaker
yada, yada, yada. And so that's another thing you can show up to. Of course, you know, health boards, your city council, anything like that, you know, you can show up to. I already mentioned the candidate forums, the meet and greets that I showed up to protests. I mean, that's pretty big right now. You know, I'm not taking a side in this. Israel, Palestine, Frakis.
00:15:36
Speaker
I'm but there is one side well actually on both sides there are people that are showing up i mean. Again i'm not i'm not this is one issue i don't
Proactive Community Engagement
00:15:46
Speaker
touch cuz i just i plead ignorance and i genuinely am so it's like my voice isn't needed on this because.
00:15:53
Speaker
Honestly I'm just ignorant about the subject and it's not my wheelhouse let's say I'm trying to stay in my lane but again that's something you show up to if that is something that you do feel strongly about and you do feel like you are knowledgeable about well then maybe you need to start to show up
00:16:09
Speaker
To show your support for one side or the other with this israel-palestine side of things The other thing kind of like I mentioned before i'm part of the Republican assembly of my local area of sumter county
00:16:25
Speaker
And yeah so just getting involved with my local group so you know that's kinda what I aim to do with this is show up where can you show up to there's lots there's no shortage of places where you can show up even like this doesn't have to be political but it sometimes is your HOA so like we have an HOA meeting actually next week.
00:16:47
Speaker
And i actually think i'm gonna show up to that too because we're having issues in our neighborhood with, you know, people getting letters of reprimand for having like two weeds in their weed bed and ridiculous things. It's like, oh, come on, you know, I mean, there's like, show me where that's not a real violation. I mean, and then there are other houses that have like, it looks like a jungle growing in them and stuff.
00:17:10
Speaker
So you know it doesn't have to be political sometimes it is but again your age away if you don't like what's going on in something in your life.
00:17:20
Speaker
Show up. Go do something about it. Let your voice be heard. You can't just sit there and take it. I don't know. I think we've just sat there and taken it for too long or just assumed that somebody else was going to solve the problem for us.
Political Involvement Across Generations
00:17:38
Speaker
That's what I'm here to tell you is that, no, nobody's coming to save us. Well, Jesus is, but we don't know when that is.
00:17:46
Speaker
So that could be tomorrow, that could be in 500 years. So in the meantime, we have to do the work ourselves and show up and speak with conviction and speak with the force of truth that we do have on our side for issues big and small. And again, you don't have to do everything.
00:18:05
Speaker
Pick your issue. Again, if it's the school board, if it's the health board, if it is your HOA, if it is Drag Queen Story Hour or gun control or pro-life or anything like that, find your niche, find your passion, whatever it is that your issue is that you are passionate about and start showing up.
00:18:31
Speaker
finding a group. So where do you find these groups or where do you find out about these meetings? Social media is really good. So usually they'll post social media. Either you can go to the official pages or like on Telegram groups, which I'm a part of, people will just like in some of the groups will post a flyer to this, that or the other about a protest that's coming up or about an event or a sign waving or
00:18:56
Speaker
a training that's happening, a first aid survival training or firearm training, something like that, that they'll post on just an individual telegram group. Or of course you can go to the social media pages, what to do, or the official pages of some of these political groups, et cetera.
00:19:22
Speaker
Obviously hopping on email list email lists are a good way to stay up to date if you don't like social media if you try and avoid social media i get it so then sign up for an email list where you can get reminded about the events that are going on again by the republican assembly club that i'm part of.
00:19:39
Speaker
We get emails all the time probably sometimes too many um but yeah that's how i did but that's how i get notified because actually they aren't really good at posting on their social media um and so that's how i found out about some of these like candidate um forums and other events that are going on that i'm like oh yeah actually i do want to go to this one and so i mark it on my calendar um speaking of calendars you can go just to the official government websites all these meetings are held on the same regular days so it's every
00:20:08
Speaker
Tuesday of the month at five o'clock at this building. So they have to publicize it, they have to put it out there, notify, let people know, and it's the same time every time. So just go on their official page, you know, .gov, whatever it is, and just look it up on there, on their calendar, and you'll be able to find it. So yeah, that's another way.
00:20:35
Speaker
And then, you know, something that I've kind of been seeing a little bit about on social media, and I'll admit I've got mixed feelings about it myself.
Balancing Sports and Community
00:20:47
Speaker
But, you know, thinking about like, what's preventing us? What's stopping us from showing up?
00:20:54
Speaker
And there could be lots of things, especially people, especially younger folks, you know, I mean, it's pretty well known now that the older generation and this has been fairly consistent, you know, over the decades is of course, it's the older generation that are more politically active that vote more, etc.
00:21:10
Speaker
And pretty easy to see why number one they have they have wealth basically so they can make donations number two they have time you know they retired especially i mean hey i live in the biggest retirement or just outside the biggest retirement city in the nation if not the world full of boomers you know they will always be boomers but i'm.
00:21:30
Speaker
whatever the older generation of that era is. But yeah, they're retired, they got time, they got money, and they want to get involved. So that's what they do. But what is it with us, our younger generation, people like working age,
00:21:49
Speaker
that prevents us from showing up. And of course, you know, the obvious answer is the kids. And it doesn't have to be the kids, though. It's not just the fact that you have kids. But something I've seen on social media being talked about a bit is the strain on families that all these sports, high-level sports put on families.
00:22:13
Speaker
And you know because they're talking about like hey your weekends i mean you're driving it's not like you're just driving down the street thirty minutes on time and you're driving one way two to three hours to an event or to a tournament. Or to a scrimmage or something your whole weekend is just absorbed for weeks in a row.
00:22:34
Speaker
And it's stressful on both parents and kids and you know it's it's expensive in most cases and you know we really have to start
00:22:45
Speaker
I think measuring the cost benefit of what these high level sports, if they're worth it. I say that as somebody who benefited from that. I was a collegiate athlete and I played soccer. I was a two sport athlete in high school. I played both soccer and tennis at a highly competitive level.
00:23:06
Speaker
Basically, on my team, I was always the best. I played number one in tennis. I was a lead scorer on my soccer team. I had to choose. I could have played either in college and I chose tennis. I chose to play tennis. I had a very successful collegiate career. I was a three-time All-American. I was runner-up in doubles and NCAA national championships my senior year. I was ranked as high as number three in the nation at one point my senior year, et cetera, et cetera.
00:23:33
Speaker
I say this as somebody who had a very rewarding and fulfilling athletic career. I can see my daughter, she's only four, but she's already got really good athletic ability. I am a little torn.
00:23:52
Speaker
about this because I do think I, again, believe in putting my money where my mouth is. I talk a lot about building community and I think that this is a barrier to building community, always driving around hours away, doing the sports stuff. Yes, it's fun, but especially, again, my daughter is four.
00:24:17
Speaker
I'm pretty anti college anyway so like if I don't really think I'm gonna send her to college or would really prefer that she explores other options who knows what the world's gonna look like in 14 years when she's ready for that but
00:24:31
Speaker
At this point, if I had a teenager right now, I would seriously be trying to push them towards other options besides college, especially if I had a girl. Especially if I had a girl, I would definitely be trying to steer them away from something other than college. And starting right now, if you do have a middle schooler or a young high schooler trying to prepare them for other paths beyond college, teaching them how to be an entrepreneur, teaching them
00:24:59
Speaker
Or alternative educational options you know rather than going to a four-year college maybe an AA or a specific like you know Training for specific for a certain skill So I don't know what it's going to look like in 14 years for my daughter and if if college for us isn't the goal and
00:25:21
Speaker
Then is it worth it? Should we really be spending all these weekends and all this money and all this time away from friends and family and church as well, your spiritual life and disconnecting rather than connecting?
00:25:38
Speaker
I'm torn and if you have any thoughts about that, I'd love to hear it. Because again, I benefited from it and so I don't want to necessarily steal that opportunity away from my daughter especially because she is showing
Value of Elite Sports Training
00:25:53
Speaker
and a talent for athletic ability. She really does have some natural athletic ability. And she's going to be even better than I am because she's going to be tall. You know, I did pretty good with my all five foot three inches I've made, but, you know, especially in tennis, you know, that held me back a little bit. But she's going to be tall. And so she's going to she could probably go even further and be even better than I am. But I mean, like, look, what are the chances she's going to go pro?
00:26:24
Speaker
And if she's not gonna go pro, you know, and she's not gonna play in college because we're not gonna take that route, what's the benefit of all this high-end elite athletic training?
00:26:37
Speaker
And that's something I personally am going to have to start considering very carefully here soon. And if you have any thoughts on that, let me know. I'd love to hear from Hailey. Just send me an email, Hailey at libertyalliancenetwork.com.
Economic Strains and Opportunities
00:26:51
Speaker
Let me know if you have any thoughts on that. But yeah, so because it does rip us away from so many other important things in our lives, you know, it does prevent us, hey, we can't show up.
00:27:03
Speaker
To these board meetings or to these protests or to whatever because we're always fearing and taxing our kids to and from practices one or recitals or tournaments or what have you classes.
00:27:19
Speaker
And we're not building that community where you know creating false community this is false community not tight knit. True community so these are just things we're gonna have to consider because you know look i think the easy answers are.
00:27:35
Speaker
Probably in the rear view mirror right now we're gonna have to start making some of these harder choices and these harder decisions because the world is changing very rapidly. Obviously this is gonna be 2024 pivotal year I think I'm already seeing signs of change in my own business we were super slow I'm seeing lots of.
00:27:56
Speaker
other businesses, both local and nationally, that are laying people off, that are filing for bankruptcy. Look, they wanna pretend that everything economically is hunky-dory, because of course, if they announce that there's a recession during election year, that's not gonna look good for Joe Biden. So they're gonna probably try and hide the fact, hide these economic headwinds for as long as possible. But we're all feeling it, I'm feeling it.
00:28:24
Speaker
And so, yeah, I think that the easy times, you know, it goes back to the weak men create hard times. I mean, I think we've been seeing it on the horizon for quite some time, but I think we're nearly there. We're really about to enter some hard times and the hard times mean some hard decisions are going to have to be made.
00:28:44
Speaker
I don't know what that's going to look like. So I'm here again just trying to give you solutions.
Support for Show Continuation
00:28:49
Speaker
As you know, one solution that I like to promote is that of the All-American Shopping Club. And especially if you are looking for income opportunities that don't require learning any really new additional skills or taking spending thousands of dollars on a course or anything like that, that's an opportunity. So in addition to swapping where you shop to a cleaner, safer, healthier,
00:29:14
Speaker
a non-toxic store that supports your values, and you don't have to. This is not mandatory, but if you are looking for an income opportunity there, that could help you out, especially because I know Bidenflation is kicking all of our asses and we're all looking for a side hustle or other ways to make money, and especially if I am right about these economic headwinds, that could be something that you should look into. So again, if you're interested in that.
00:29:42
Speaker
If you want to know more send me an email Haley at Liberty Alliance Network comm so Beyond that if you want to support the show support me go to buy me a coffee comm slash Liberty Alliance Network Help me keep the lights on around here. Help keep the show running again. We're running into economic headwinds and Time is finite. And so if I have to spend my time
00:30:06
Speaker
doing things that actually pay me, then this is going to have to take a backseat. And again, I don't want to have to do that. But hard choices might have to be made in the
00:30:19
Speaker
not so distant future. So if you do value what I'm doing and if you like my voice and you want me to continue using it, inspiring and encouraging others to take action and be part of the solution, then go to BuyMeACoffee.com slash Liberty Alliance Network. Show me some love. Show me some support. Help me keep doing this. Help me help you. And with that, I am going to say adieu, farewell, and we will catch you next time.
