Solocast: Is it time to rethink travel sports for kids?

Last week's Solocast apparently touched a nerve with some people when Haley mentioned travel sports as a possible barrier for many young, working people to be more involved in politics and their community.

So when you touch a third rail, that means it's time to go on and keep touching it! Haley dedicates the whole episode today to discussing whether these travel sports for kids are worth it and if there maybe aren't better ways we should be spending the 10 formative years of a kid's life.

Join Haley for this controversial Solocast episode!

Education or Indoctrination?

00:00:00
Speaker
Alright parents, listen up. I hate to say it, but the stuff they're teaching your kids in schools these days is pure garbage. If they're not busy trying to turn your kids gay, then they're trying to turn them into little Marxist revolutionaries instead. Your kids don't stand a chance if you're not countering the propaganda they're getting at schools with a heavy dose of the truth at home.
00:00:20
Speaker
And the people I know who are doing the best work countering the false ideas of leftism with the sound principles of liberty are the folks at the Tuttle Twins. The Tuttle Twins offers books and curriculum for kids of all ages, from as young as three all the way up to high school. All of their books are firmly grounded in real history, sound economics, and foundational principles of liberty as understood by our founding fathers.
00:00:47
Speaker
Last year, a 12-year-old boy named Jaden made headlines after a teacher tried to make him remove his Gadsden flag patch from his book bag, claiming it had origins with slavery. But, thanks to the Tuttle Twins books, Jaden successfully defended not just the true origins of the flag, which have nothing to do with slavery, but also his First Amendment rights to have the patch on his book bag in the first place.
00:01:10
Speaker
So if you want to raise a kid as based as Jaden, who knows his history and his rights and won't be pushed around by leftist bullies, then get your kids some Tuttle twins books today.

00:01:52
Speaker
All right, welcome back to another episode of Liberty Alliance Networks. What can we do? I am your courageous and audacious host, Hailey Heathman, back at you with another solo cast episode today.
00:02:08
Speaker
Oh boy, we have got one for you today. So wow, I guess I didn't realize it. Not really, maybe I had an inkling, but I touched a third rail apparently with my last solo cast episode. So if you missed it, I was talking about last time about
00:02:31
Speaker
The importance of showing up and you know after having done so many of these podcasts and my man on the street interviews and going to conferences and attending protests and rallies and etc all sorts of stuff and you know really you know the essence of the show what can we do.
00:02:48
Speaker
Really it boils down to just show up And that's kind of what I talked a lot about last week is the various ways in which we can show up And it doesn't there's not one right answer. I mean in a big big picture sense That's what we have to do. But then everybody's way of showing up is different and so at the end of last episode I talked about I
00:03:09
Speaker
You know just something that has been on my mind because I started seeing some. Posts and things about it on social media and it you know it it did cause me to take a step back and pause and think and contemplate you know is this true. I'm still you know deciding I haven't made any.
00:03:29
Speaker
Real conclusions firm conclusions yet i'm mulling over but i talked about what are the barriers to showing up especially for younger people are working age people you know people like with family aged i guess i'm because we're the ones that are less involved i mean young young young you know eighteen to twenty one-year-olds i mean they're in college and i guess they are uninvolved although even though they seems like they're involved it seems like they're voting rates are turnout is still really low.
00:03:55
Speaker
Even though that there is a small percentage of them that seem to be really vocal and then of course we all know the boomers are the older generation they have the highest voter turnout they are the most likely to be involved and then you got the people in between the family professional working age and you know trying to get people like us to to be engaged and to get organized and to show up and to fight back and you know I said well what's the what's stopping us why aren't we
00:04:26
Speaker
getting involved and everything.

The Opportunity Cost of Travel Sports

00:04:28
Speaker
And so I said the obvious answer is kids. We're parents. We've got kids. But as I kind of mentioned in my show and then I also sent out an email to my email list about this yesterday too because I'm still just
00:04:43
Speaker
you know, working through this. And so if you're not on my email list, you missed out and I think you should join. So go to libertyalliancenetwork.com. There should be a pop up. You get a free download with your pop with your with your join. So you get a little something something in there. So follow me, you know, keep up to date on my email list because I do talk about important things that I don't talk about here.
00:05:09
Speaker
Um, necessarily, although right now, obviously there's some crossover. So, um, yes. So what I was talking about is, um, you know, showing up and why kids, they don't have to be.
00:05:22
Speaker
necessarily the barrier for us to show up, but they are. But why? Why are they? And it's because the last couple generations, well, at least, yeah, definitely since my age and probably a little bit before, but because of this big emphasis on putting kids in all these
00:05:45
Speaker
Travel sports and elite sports and this focus on you know Travel sports elite sports or you know, like recitals dance, you know, if you're a dance mom or whatever dance theater things like that And it's because we're so busy faring and taxing our kids here there and everywhere and
00:06:08
Speaker
that we you know we don't have time you know practice you got practice at least two if not three nights a week if you got um multiple kids well then that means probably every night of your week because one one kid might have monday wednesday another kid might have tuesday thursday and then you got
00:06:24
Speaker
a tournament or whatever a game scheduled over the weekend and there you go that's it that's your whole week gone right there that doesn't and that doesn't even allow any any time for you barely you know and um so like that that's a huge a huge barrier and um you know i'm just contemplating and so i think i think i made a kind of i'll say a little bit of a mistake because in my last um
00:06:49
Speaker
In my last podcast, the way I was phrasing it is I said, well, what's the benefit of all these travel sports? And that might not be the right way of phrasing it, because I know the benefits. Because as I explained in my last podcast episode, I benefited. I was a collegiate athlete. So I know, personally, firsthand, the benefit that these travel sports, these elite sports can have.
00:07:13
Speaker
What i should have said and what i'm gonna say now and i think this my especially if you're one of my libertarian friends and you're out like kind of a. Austrian economics geek like you know i will say i am not a geek but you know i know enough about it but you know so that the proper. Way of phrasing it i think.
00:07:30
Speaker
is not what is the benefit of travel sports and all these recreational sports and activities and things like that. Because that's undeniable. I don't deny that there are huge, very, very, you know, that they're beneficial. The better way to put it though is what is the opportunity cost? What is the opportunity cost of these elite sports?
00:07:59
Speaker
Meaning we can only do one thing at a time. So is there, yes, there's benefit clearly clear benefits to kids and sports and things like that. And some of these activities, et cetera, not denying that, but at what cost, what are we trading off instead? And should we?
00:08:21
Speaker
Should we be putting all our eggs in this elite sport basket? So, you know, there is a trade off. There is a trade off. Is there something that our time and money and energy would be better spent on?
00:08:37
Speaker
besides travel sports because that just, it's all consuming. It's all consuming and it does put a huge strain on families, on budgets, on kids.

Is College Overrated?

00:08:51
Speaker
They get stressed out about it.
00:08:54
Speaker
And the point i brought up last time was like look you know so so i think the reason that people my age that this was a thing and even before then you know but especially i think definitely in the eighties and nineties i think it's kinda reach to pinnacle.
00:09:09
Speaker
is because we are pushing college so hard. I mean, we've been all college. That is the path to success in America. And the only way you can achieve success and make something of yourself is to go to college, go to college, go to college. And that's all they push in public schools. And the only way to go to college and what they really want to see on your resume or your admission forms or whatever is they want to see some sort of
00:09:38
Speaker
Achievement or aptitude and something and so that's why we get our kids. That's why we started Basically centering our family lives around the activities of our children is because we needed these activities in order to get them into these colleges and
00:09:58
Speaker
That's it. So like if you weren't, you know, a Dean's List student, if you weren't top of your class, but hey, maybe you're a really good violinist or, you know, played softball or whatever. I mean, they would find a way to get you in.
00:10:14
Speaker
And so that's what we started focusing all of our time and money and attention on is these after school activities and sports so that we could show something on our college applications that were well rounded, etc. And that we're the type of this is the type of kid you want in your school and want in your program.
00:10:32
Speaker
And so now now of course we see we look at the state of Higher education in America these days and I mean I've soured I soured on Higher education many many years ago. I think now finally some more people are you know, it's starting to wise up especially now what's going on with
00:10:52
Speaker
you know, this whole Israel-Palestine conflict and that's really starting to fracture even the left, you know, they're kind of pitting the left against the left, which I'm all for, you know, let them eat their own. But, you know, the rest of us are starting, really starting to open our eyes and be awakened to the value or lack thereof that a college, a four-year college education actually provides us. It's
00:11:22
Speaker
Significantly diminished over like the last Decade or two basically probably probably since I graduated I graduated in 2003 and I would say probably within about five years after that, you know, maybe by 2008 to 2010
00:11:37
Speaker
And since then, it just has really gone downhill. Of course, that's because, you know, it stopped being about academics and higher pursuit of knowledge. And it started to be really more overtly. I mean, it was always there, but it was just a little bit more covert. And now it seems like the sole one and only focus that that college is there for nowadays is
00:12:03
Speaker
To indoctrinate and you know put out foot soldiers for mouths red guard the current version of mouths red guard That's all they're there for so and it doesn't matter your merit or your achievement, and they've got these made up you know
00:12:18
Speaker
studies, you know, these gender studies and the queer theory studies and women, I mean, you know, like that, that provide no value. And of course, you know, the, the joke is, you know, all these women's studies majors being, you know, graduating college and working as a Starbucks barista, you know, like being $30,000 or $50,000 in debt because it's a useless degree.
00:12:39
Speaker
And so i think kinda so so so again if as i mentioned last episode if i don't think that college is gonna be the goal from my daughter i mean i can't foresee it right now but.
00:12:54
Speaker
I'm definitely not leaning that way right now. Maybe things will change. Who knows what's going to happen in the next 14 years? I mean, it is unpredictable. Impossible to predict. But let's just say like as of right now and if things keep trending in this direction, I mean, hell no. I'm not sending my daughter to any sort of four-year university.
00:13:14
Speaker
And so going back to the opportunity cost, if the goal isn't I have to show aptitude and achievement in these skills and endeavors and recreations and everything because I have to get my daughter or my child into a four-year university so they can graduate and go on and have a successful life, which is what we've been basically teaching our kids for the last four decades.
00:13:41
Speaker
Then what is the purpose of these high-end athletics? Because there is a cost to them. There is a cost. And that's what we need to start thinking about and re-examining. And, you know, it's kind of like, I think I touched a little bit of a third rail there and you know me, it's like, oh, I touched that rail, you know.
00:14:02
Speaker
Oh, did I touch a third rail there? Oh, well, you know what? I better just go on keep touching it. Yeah. Because, uh, we got to talk about that. Um, I think it is a sore spot within a lot of families and it's definitely, well, and I didn't even realize it was a sore spot in my family, but I def I actually got an angry email from my own mother who was very not happy with me about my stance and my take. And I won't even call it a stance. I'm just thinking out loud. I just, I'm mulling this over.
00:14:29
Speaker
Because as I said, there are benefits. I'm not saying there are no benefits to putting your kids into sports or activities or et cetera. There are certainly benefits. But again, at what cost? Now, when I was growing up, I do think it was the benefits far outweighed the cost. I think I do. That was the era that we were living in. But we have to recognize that we are
00:14:57
Speaker
in a different era, things have changed rapidly, especially over the last, especially six to seven years. I mean, it's been a rapid decline or well, we'll just say change. Maybe it's not a decline, but I mean, the world is almost unrecognizable. If you would have told me seven years ago that people would be getting fired and jailed and
00:15:24
Speaker
all sorts of other stuff for basically saying men can't be women and women can't be men, I would have thought you were crazy. Seven years ago, seven years ago, this was not controversial as recent as seven years ago. And now you really have to be careful because you could lose your job in certain countries, they are criminalizing the speech where you can get thrown in jail or have your kid taken away from you. So that's how rapidly this world is changing. So, you know, in the world I grew up in,
00:15:52
Speaker
Yeah, this route, what I did, all these sports and everything. Absolutely. I do believe in, you know, I'm not saying I regretted it or that I shouldn't have, I totally think that a hundred percent, that was the path. And that was, I was, I'm extremely grateful for my experiences with that.
00:16:10
Speaker
We live in a different world today and we can see that even the last seven years, things have changed so rapidly that does it make sense to do this? Aren't there, are there bigger things we need to be worrying about and bigger values or skills we need to start
00:16:28
Speaker
pushing our kids towards. Because if you think about it, I mean, this is 10 years of a kid's life, 10 years of a kid's life that you're going to spend faring them back and forth, back and forth, you know, at the expense of what? Family time with other family, at the expense of maybe learning another skill, you know, maybe teaching them to be an entrepreneur, starting up a business, you know, or a side hustle, teaching your kid how to have a side hustle and what it means to be an entrepreneur.
00:16:57
Speaker
at the expense of a spiritual or religious life. A lot of those tournaments that you go to, they go through the whole weekend. The final game is on Sunday. The championship game is on Sunday. Or they go the whole three-day weekend, if it's a three-day weekend.
00:17:14
Speaker
And so that's it. That's all consuming for 10 years of your kid's life spending at least half the year or more if they play, if you've got multiple kids or you, or your kids play multiple sports, just going from one sport to another to another.
00:17:30
Speaker
and never having time to like take a deep breath or to connect as a family to form a deeper relationship relationship as a family so you know you have to think about well what society are we trying to build now because it's not the one that we are trying to build when i was growing up
00:17:46
Speaker
You know, it's just kind of like how Mike Rowe has been on his crusade for quite a while now, 10, 15, 20 years now, basically kind of saying like, no, like, like talking about dirty jobs. We need these people to do these dirty jobs. And we've kind of like stigmatized blue collar workers.

Valuing Vocational Skills

00:18:03
Speaker
In favor of all these sending you out of send your kid to college I think we recognize now no not every kid needs to go to college because again the value proposition of a four-year degree anymore is Very low. I think you know I wish more people would more parents would realize it But it's very low the four-year proposition of a four-year degree and so as Mike Rowe says you can earn and you can be successful Doing these blue-collar dirty jobs that we try and like you know the elites
00:18:34
Speaker
Our betters, our overlords, who are just so much smarter than us, are trying to pretend that are beneath them. But, you know, electricians, they make good money. Plumbers, they make good money. Sanitation workers, they make good money. You know, a lot of these people, they're probably making better money than your women studies Starbucks barista. And so he's been on a crusade and people are starting to wise up that, yeah, college might not be the right path for everybody, especially when you think about the cost.
00:19:02
Speaker
How much does it cost? Even state schools can be exorbitant. And you know, so you're already starting behind, you know, how, how, how far in debt 20, 40, 50 thousand dollars in debt or more, depending, especially if you, if you do go to with advanced degrees, et cetera. And then, you know, you get the golden handcuffs. So it's like, okay, well, what if, yeah, but something, you know, I get the feedback. Well, some of these professions, you have to have that advanced degree. Yeah, you do. And, and, um,
00:19:32
Speaker
Again, I think it's a mistake. It's a mistake to, you know, personally because even like these law degrees, these med degrees, like I know veterinarians. Look, I know a couple that are veterinarians and they are combined $400,000 in student loan debt.
00:19:56
Speaker
That's insane. And so, you know, if you ever think like, hey, maybe this, if you decide all of a sudden that, hey, this isn't right for me, you're screwed, you know, because you get these higher level degrees. Oh, I want to be a lawyer. I want to go to med school because the payoff is I'm going to make a lot of money down the line and I'm going to be able to pay off these exorbitant loans. And not only that, they are like at warp speed, woke a fine.
00:20:19
Speaker
all of these higher level, higher education, med school, law school type things, you gotta bend the knee to this woke mob. And so again, it's a further chance at indoctrination because again, if you wanna get the degree and if you've already spent or are in X amount of dollars, so say you're halfway through med school and you're starting to realize, uh-oh, I don't know that I like this, but you're already,
00:20:46
Speaker
$100,000 in debt, and you're thinking, what am I going to do if I don't see this through? You're screwed. So I really don't think that the value proposition isn't there. So I like that Mike Rowe has been calling attention to this. And so now, if we're starting to understand and starting to realize that college is not the end all be all, then maybe it's also time to start realizing that these travel sports aren't the end all be all.

Sports vs. Family: Finding Balance

00:21:15
Speaker
I'm not saying, again, let's not put words in my mouth. I'm not saying that nobody should play sports or that these aren't at all beneficial. Again, just like some people, it probably is beneficial and it's good that they get a college degree, et cetera, et cetera. But I think we really need to start doing, it shouldn't be just taken for granted that we just need to put our kids in all these sports and recreation because there are
00:21:40
Speaker
Some downsides to it you know you like i like just like my own example here in my neighborhood my four-year-old she's she's not doing any sports she did soccer in the fall but she hasn't done any sports in the spring and she wants some kids to play with them in the neighborhood and it's like you know a lot of the kids that are around that are her age oh no that will hurt you know joey and danny they got
00:22:02
Speaker
Um, you know, they both are in softball and soccer and say they're, they're not going to be available until for another two or three weeks when it's over. And so it's like, she's like bored and like feeling left out because nobody's around to play. So like you remember when we were growing up, I mean, like that was the thing, like I couldn't wait to get home from school and ride my bike down the street and go play at somebody's house or in their front yard or whatever.
00:22:25
Speaker
And now we don't get this unstructured play. Everything is structured play. It has to be a play date, it has to be set, you know, a practice, something like that. And we are robbing, that is something, again, an opportunity cost. We are robbing our children of an authentic, organic childhood in favor of these, you know, inorganic, highly structured, where kids aren't taught autonomy. They're always constantly taught, you know, being talked to and taught at and, um,
00:22:52
Speaker
they don't get that joy of discovery and their own invention and following their own interests, you know, when they always have to follow the lead and interest of somebody else, somebody, a figure in authority. So, you know, again, yeah. And I think there's a happy medium to be found here. There's a definite gray area. There's a definite gray area.
00:23:18
Speaker
This isn't black and white. There is nuance here. I know nuance is basically dead in the advent of social media, but there is some nuance here. There can be a place for like, yes, I want my daughter to play some sports or take some lessons in a certain sport or do some recreational activities, but also not going over the over the top, like pretending she's going to be some, you know, pro athlete.
00:23:43
Speaker
And therefore taking every single weekend and every single free, you know, uh, season to do something. So like, you know, yeah, sure. Maybe if there's like in the fall, she likes to play, um, soccer, but then, you know, maybe the rest of the year she's not doing anything or Hey, maybe we do, um,
00:24:05
Speaker
you know, karate classes, you know, and do some of that where you're still honing some of these skills, you know, the discipline, the, you know, the athleticism, some of these physical skills and imparting, you know, that mentality of healthy, you know, awareness of your physical body, etc. Again, there's lots of benefits. So we can still do that. I'm not saying that, like, look, if I don't think that travel sports are like the way to go, that doesn't mean I think
00:24:31
Speaker
Sports in general are totally a waste of time. That's not what i'm saying There is still I think a time and a place but like like let's find that happy medium Let's find some balance and I think that's what's missing is balance um And then i'll bring this home with the um, you know talking about the spiritual side of things You know a lot of people a lot of christians are you know, we're talking about lamenting that, you know, we are in a spiritual warfare we are in a spiritual battlefield and we need
00:24:58
Speaker
to recruit more to our army or not lose them, basically. Part of what started this is because I follow a lot of Christian influencers on Instagram and stuff. It's not just them. I've seen it in other holistic or peaceful or Montessori-style parenting blogs as well.
00:25:17
Speaker
Kind of calling out this notion of needing to do these travel sports and so You know one Person one influencer that caught my eye one of his messages He says the chances of becoming a pro athlete point zero two percent
00:25:35
Speaker
The chances of standing before a holy God, 100%. Sports can be good for your kids, but they can't be God for your kids. Help them keep the right priorities in order. And that is so true. That is so true. And I think in my case, I mean, and there's lots of reasons for it, but yeah, the opportunity cost was
00:25:55
Speaker
that after a certain age, I didn't go to church anymore, and I didn't have that spiritual aspect to my life anymore. And I was not what I would say a practicing Christian, literally up until about four or five years ago. The birth of my daughter, which just also happened to coincide with COVID, which is this weird spiritual battle we're in,
00:26:21
Speaker
And that pushed me towards like, really, you know, strengthening my faith because I'm like, this is, there's something going on here, you know, recognizing what's going on. So yeah, I mean, and that was part of the opportunity cost for me and living, you know, because of that, you know, I spent a lot of many, many years living
00:26:42
Speaker
Of the world or living in the world i guess you know which is kinda what the christian is not supposed to do not supposed to be living in the world you're of this world but you're not in this world and i was too much in this world you know i'm.
00:26:55
Speaker
It is what it is. You live and you learn. So, you know, and then I think it goes back to, you know, I like what he said here, sports can be good for your kids, but they can't be God for your kids. And we have to be worrisome. Again, this goes to the Christians. So if you're not a believer, this probably isn't going to be like a very compelling argument to you.
00:27:15
Speaker
And that's okay. But if you are a person of faith, then, you know, you do have to start to be careful about these false idols.

Cultural Influences and Priorities

00:27:25
Speaker
And in the email I wrote yesterday, I talked about, you know, I gave the example of Taylor Swift, you know, oh my God, I'm so sick and tired of hearing about Taylor Swift.
00:27:33
Speaker
But i'm she actually just released a new album and i'm like a week or two ago and it's actually gotten really bad reviews it's been really pan cuz it was it's like a really. Dark weird album and i don't listen to it so bad i'm just kinda going and not just like the i mean i think the fans are okay but like a lot of other i'm seeing a lot of negativity around it because especially there's lots of her songs.
00:27:58
Speaker
that are expressly like anti-Christianity, anti-God. And I've talked about it before, both in my email list and on this podcast about the satanic nature of the music industry. And of course, Taylor Swift is a megastar and I think
00:28:14
Speaker
A lot up until probably now, she's had this like wholesome image, you know, she does have this wholesome kind of image and you think, oh, it's safe to follow her. Well, that's not really true. She's always had this side of her, you know, you look at some of her music videos when she's literally wearing like a devil mask and, you know, doing all sorts of weird satanic shit.

And now it's even more over with this new album and so a lot of these christians who follow her are starting to realize i better maybe need to reexamine. You know. My basically idolization of taylor swift my idolizing her.
00:28:56
Speaker
Above all else, you know, like you, again, you have to kind of deny yourself like, Hey, as much as I love Taylor, uh, I don't really love these. Anti-Christian, et cetera, demonic messages she's sending and Hey, maybe I need to take a step back. Um, you know, those things that are calling us away from God and away from.
00:29:19
Speaker
worship and godly activities etc and that's sports that can be one of them too you know again if your life is all consumed by sports and this goes from hey when we're adults to that love of sports that we used to play when we were kids and of course 99.99% of us don't make it
00:29:39
Speaker
in the professional leagues and so then but we become fans and so you you hear all about these like uber fans these super fans and these sports you know i've been a season ticket holder for you know 25 years and you know their life is just basically you know revolves around sunday football or whatever it is you know whatever their sport is
00:30:01
Speaker
And that's it. And again, that's a false idol. Because especially if it's done at the expense of a lot of other things, and this could be at the expense of a relationship with your wife or kids, at the expense of putting church on the back burner or worship on the back burner. So we have to start reexamining these things. And what is the opportunity cost?
00:30:27
Speaker
for some of these hobbies and recreations and interests. And I did get some other feedback from
00:30:36
Speaker
I did have a couple of replies to the email I sent out yesterday and kind of echoing what I'm saying that these travel sports that they've seen how it has become a burden and in some cases ripped families apart. And so it just seems like it's another war on the family. And again, with everything, the world is changing and we have to start to re-examine this.
00:31:04
Speaker
And there's room for nuance. Definitely. There's room for nuance. This is not black and white. There is room for shades of gray here. I'm not going to look down on anybody who thinks that sports is good and they want to put their kids in this. I mean, I still think there's value in it, but the question has to be compared to what, at what expense. And we've taken it for far too long that
00:31:30
Speaker
This is the highest value that we shouldn't have to reexamine this. So maybe I'm just a little bit early with like this thought process and that over time, over the maybe the next five, maybe 10 years, more and more people are going to start to kind of like
00:31:46
Speaker
Step back and also start to question this. It's kind of like, you know, the anti-vaxxers the quote anti-vaxxers, you know 10 years ago, of course, they were laughing stock and you know, very harshly ridiculed and now now ha ha ha laughs, you know, they're having the last laugh now, there's lots of prominent people out there who are not just questioning the COVID vaccine, but they're questioning all vaccines and That's due to the tireless
00:32:15
Speaker
you know, outspokenness of some of these, um, the vaccine injured even prior, you know, prior to the COVID vaccine, but you know, we'll just say anti-vaxxers for short, um, that they, they have suffered the slings and arrows and the name calling and the loss of friendships and the loss of status, you know, for being outspoken about this, even though it was not a popular opinion at the time, but now, now the world has come around. So I think,
00:32:42
Speaker
I could be wrong. I think we might start to see that a little bit with the notion of these travel sports.

Open Dialogue on Education and Sports

00:32:49
Speaker
I might be early. I might be on the early side of this. And again, I haven't made any firm decisions. I haven't.
00:32:58
Speaker
So I just want to put that out there. I'm just thinking out loud. I'm just thinking out loud. And that's why I want this to be a conversation because I am open to hearing perspectives and I, you know, open to having my mind changed and, you know, let's, let's talk about this. Let's talk this through. You know, I'm not just out here saying, you know, good, bad, good, bad, you know, so sometimes I do.
00:33:21
Speaker
This isn't one of those cases i'm open to discussion about this i'm open to hearing other thoughts and opinions and i would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this if this is something you had to deal with personally or witness or. You know have they been beneficial to your other things you wish you did differently do you wish you didn't have the burden do your kids feel about it.
00:33:44
Speaker
You know, um, some kids again, we, you know, like I know lots of girls I used to play tennis with and they were, they were no good, you know, but they would still show up to the, to the tennis tournaments and to the practices and everything. And I mean, it's one thing if it's just for fun, but like if your parents are making you and dragging you and
00:34:01
Speaker
Like, you know, you're losing in the first round of every tournament, but you still show up year after year. I mean, at some point it's like, why are you doing this? I mean, do you really love this? Do you really enjoy this? Or are you just doing it because your parent keeps dragging you around? I mean, whose dream is being fulfilled here?
00:34:16
Speaker
So yeah, I think that's all I got to say about that. Well, probably it's probably not all I got to say about it, but I'm going to leave it there. Because that was a lot. That was a lot. But yeah, if you do have any thoughts on this, send me an email, haley at libertyalliancenetwork.com.
00:34:35
Speaker
Definitely open to hearing about this. A mind's not made up. I'm just asking questions. And I think that's very important to have dialogue and ask some questions. And that's how we start to get closer to the truth is by asking these questions, having these conversations, bouncing ideas off of each other. Maybe there's something I haven't considered.
00:34:58
Speaker
I'm open to it and so I hope you will help me carry on this discussion by joining me. Also, make sure you sign up for my email list, go to libertyalliancenetwork.com. 00:35:21
Speaker
