In a historic feat, Donald Trump visited the Libertarian National Convention in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night and gave a speech courting Libertarian votes.

It resulted in a raucous and rowdy night as members of the LP and a handful of vocal Trump supporters verbally sparred before and during Trump's speech.

Haley discusses the good, the bad, and the ugly from President Trump's appearance at the Libertarian National Convention.

Preferences on Tasks

00:00:00
Speaker
Okay, tell me which of these things you would rather do. Would you rather walk five miles across town in the hot summer heat or hop in an air conditioned vehicle to get to your destination instead? Would you rather dig a pit with a shovel or use an excavator?
00:00:17
Speaker
Would you rather use an iron washboard to wash your clothes or throw it in the washing machine instead? If we're being honest, we'd all choose the second options. Everyone likes doing things the easy way rather than the hard way if they can help it.

All right, welcome back to another solo cast episode of Liberty Alliance Networks.

Trump at Libertarian National Convention

00:02:08
Speaker
What can we do? I am your fun, feisty, fearless host, Hailey Heathman.
00:02:18
Speaker
You hear that crowd? Crowd's going wild. Yeah. All right. Yeah. So big news. Big, big news day from last night, but I'm definitely going to weigh in on it today. But the big news was that Donald Trump made an appearance. He gave a speech at the Libertarian National Convention, which is just huge.
00:02:45
Speaker
Well, or it should be seen as huge. There is a certain contingency of Lulbertarians who don't think that that was such a good move or who weren't too thrilled to see Donald Trump in appearance. You know, the context gets lost. I mean, I think they think like just because Donald Trump is coming to speak to your party or organization that that's an endorsement of Donald Trump. No, he's coming to win your vote.
00:03:15
Speaker
You know, that's not an endorsement of him. He has to earn it. And I just like, like, what's the harm? And just even like, why wouldn't you want the former president of the United States coming to speak at your convention? And I said, that's like, that's like, um,
00:03:31
Speaker
I've been saying kudos to Angela McCardle, Dave Smith, Clint Russell, and others who have become some of the most visible mouthpieces of the libertarian movement in the recent years for basically making the libertarian party a party of relevance, a party that is worth pandering to for votes because that's exactly what Donald Trump did last night.
00:03:55
Speaker
And it really was he was pandering hard. He was pandering hard in his speech. I mean, you know, I like where's that? Where's that? I want that meme. I want somebody to make a meme, you know, that Steve Buscemi, where he's like dressed as a high school kid and he's like, hello, fellow high schoolers. And he's clearly like 45 years old or whatever.
00:04:14
Speaker
I want somebody to redo it with Donald Trump's face superimposed on there like, hello fellow libertarians, because that's what he tried to sound like. I mean, he didn't really describe himself as a libertarian, but he did try and highlight and showcase what in his estimate was some of the most libertarian track record that he could. What were some of the libertarian highlights and like try and highlight the
00:04:44
Speaker
commonality and the overlap to where, hey, we do overlap in a lot of areas. And here's what I did. A lot of it was good. Some of it wasn't, was not very good. And I think he didn't quite really, you know, so it's kind of funny, like, I don't think Donald Trump, you know, we've all kind of known he's not an intellectual sadly. And I think that's where he gets himself into trouble because he's got good instincts. But you know, it's like, he's got these surface level shallow
00:05:13
Speaker
instincts but you know whether you call it well it's the opposite of an inch wide or a mile deep he's like an inch deep at a mile wide so he's got good instincts on a lot of things but they really don't go below surface level and so he's got a surface level understanding he's got good instincts and he's gotten by yeah maybe you know obviously he knows real estate and things like that but then i think he's a little bit more um bluster on certain other issues so i
00:05:38
Speaker
I'm not sure if he fully knew what he was walking into last night and my first you know because it was rockets I mean they had some warm-up speeches from Dave Smith and Clint Russell and Dave did he did a really great job of trying to
00:05:56
Speaker
He was trying to make common cause and unite because there was a group of Trump loyalists that showed up too. It wasn't just the libertarian party, it was primarily them, but there was a contingency of just Trump, hardcore MAGA, Trump supporters that were there as well to show their support for President Trump, which is

Engagement and Advocacy at the Convention

00:06:13
Speaker
fine. Dave Smith was trying to talk to both sides of the room.
00:06:17
Speaker
OK, libertarians, can you just please like like dial down the autism for just one night and we're not those college kids? We are, you know, don't have delicate ears. We are allowed to hear opposing views and not screech and, you know, disrupt the speech, et cetera. You know, we're not going to shout them down or anything like that. We're not delicate snowflakes, right? But then he also tried to kind of like talk to the MAGA crowd about, look,
00:06:47
Speaker
Here's what we believe and we've been right about you know the wars and peace and prosperity and the Federal Reserve and sound money etc and Y'all probably should listen to us about a certain certain thing so he was trying to kind of like bring the two camps together and I think he did a
00:07:07
Speaker
a pretty amazing job. Clint Russell did. I mean, I always saw a little two-minute snip of Clint Russell. I'm not sure if he was up there for all that long, at least in the pre-Trump speech. I know he did do a quasi debate with The Vic on Friday night, which again, I always saw a couple of highlights of.
00:07:27
Speaker
But Clint did the same thing very short, sweet to the point, you know, like just, you know, peace, prosperity, free markets, free minds, et cetera, like made the pitch for the libertarian what should be the libertarian soundbite. Libertarians just can't help themselves, though. They just can't help themselves. So, you know, they were very angry. They were up in arms. They were caught, you know, like
00:07:48
Speaker
raucous, and there are some fireworks even before Donald Trump stepped on the stage. You get the MAGA wing like Laura Loomer, who's just a Donald Trump cultist. I mean, yeah, you got to take her with a grain of salt. She does occasionally some good reporting, but it's so colored by her worldview of
00:08:11
Speaker
trump good and and anybody who's not a trump loyalist is bad so like you can't really trust her reporting because it's just so colored with that worldview and so she was up there trying to say that oh there are some rfk plants there and they were trying like i don't even know what she was trying to say she just talks nonsense but i mean there were i think and i'm not sure if they're rfk plants they might have been
00:08:35
Speaker
LP members, and I don't know, I'm just speculating, there might have been LP members who were more inclined to, who are more sympathetic to Kennedy than to Trump. Let's put it that way. So, you know, I think, you know, the point is, is because the reason the LP votes are being courted.
00:08:50
Speaker
Even though we are the third largest political party in the nation and we have ballot access on all 50 ballots, etc., obviously our presidential candidate, whoever that is going to be, is not going to win.
00:09:07
Speaker
People are trying to say, look, I mean, I get it. It's a smart, smart move. Look, why waste your vote on a third party libertarian candidate when you could vote for me and you can make, as opposed to being the gadfly, the fly in the ointment this year, splitting the vote and, you know, kind of being the, you know, the stick in the mud. Why don't you throw your support behind a winning candidate or potentially winning candidate?
00:09:36
Speaker
Now, again, it's split in the libertarian party because, you know, there's lots of libertarians who really like what RFK has to say to particularly his stance on, you know, like the vaccines and COVID, etc. And that's where Donald Trump is the weakest is was that and thankfully,
00:09:55
Speaker
He was smart enough to not bring anything up about COVID or vaccine or Operation Warp Speed. Because then he really would have been proudly deservedly excoriated by the crowd. I mean, that would have just brought, I mean, not in a good way, brought the house down.
00:10:11
Speaker
So it was kind of like there was some sparring between the MAGA crowd and the libertarian crowd and the MAGA were doing chants, you know, USA, USA, or whatever. And then the libertarian crowd was doing in the Fed, in the Fed. And the great thing to see was in the crowd, there was a bunch of the whole crowd, or at least the libertarian part,
00:10:36
Speaker
A ton of signs saying free Ross free Ross free Ross and I say even before his speech even before that I said like I even posted in a group on a part of a mike look. You know when this had been announced that Donald trump is gonna be speaking I'm like okay well.
00:10:52
Speaker
This is great news, and anybody who says it's not is an idiot, which there are plenty of, again, Lulbertarians known for their autism who thought that this is awful, terrible, bad, whatever. I'm like, no, this is amazing. Because imagine if we can get some concessions out of Donald Trump. And I posted a poll in the MeWe group. I said, look, if Donald Trump were to agree to free Ross Ulbricht,
00:11:22
Speaker
would you vote for him? And so I kind of put like, I think three poll options and it was like, yes, begrudgingly. The second one was still a no for me dog. And the third one was, well, yeah, cause I'm going to probably vote for him anyway.
00:11:39
Speaker
And I would say it was about two-thirds to one-thirds were either, yes begrudgingly, or yes, I was going to vote for him. And then about a third were still like, nah, it's still a no from me dog. So at least in that particular group. Now, if you polled a different group of libertarians or libertarian people, you might get a different results, particularly those Lulbert's.
00:11:59
Speaker
Give all the libertarians a bad name and that we were trying to purge from the party with the Mises caucus takeover and yada yada I've never for the record. I have never been a member a big L libertarian party member. I've always been in the small L liberty minded Philosophically aligned libertarian but for the most part
00:12:25
Speaker
in as much as I vote, I tend to vote Republican or yeah. So like more of a Ron Paul libertarian who even though he's probably the most solid libertarian to, you know, in our lifetime, he was still a member of the Republican party and, you know, in line with Thomas Massey and Rand Paul. So I'm kind of more in that camp and I'm trying to, you know, maybe, and I had a great conversation a little while ago with Diego Rivera.
00:12:52
Speaker
who's been doing great work with bring our troops home and getting defend the guard legislation but we had a like an overall conversation about what we can do like what is the purpose of the libertarian party and you know the purpose really I mean like yes especially if we are a political party we probably do need it I think I'm not sure what the bylaws are and whatever but
00:13:11
Speaker
We probably have to run a presidential candidate, but we can be that that kingmaker, you know, like, look, our votes are up are up for grabs. So, you know, we need to be able to try and pull the Republican Party in a more liberty direction. That should be our role. And I think that's, you know, that's kind of what we managed to accomplish with Donald Trump.
00:13:33
Speaker
Showing up to the libertarian party to literally pander for votes I mean he was like, you know mentioned the word libertarian like so many times And at the end so he you know, it was a little bit lukewarm. Well that's probably the wrong word to say lukewarm is not right because it was a
00:13:50
Speaker
rowdy and raucous crowd from the get go. Um, and I think again, Trump didn't know what he was walking into because I think he's used to even like somewhat hostile crowds to kind of like be able to warm them up and bring them over to his side.
00:14:06
Speaker
And that was just not happening. They were, I mean, even though they weren't like heckling him per se, I mean, they were responding to the speech, parts of the speech, you know, so there were occasionally some boos.
00:14:21
Speaker
There were, of course, some cheers as well. The biggest, I think, probably the boo of the night was him talking about his record on inflation and things like that. I mean, when you're talking to a room full of libertarians who know about fiscal and monetary policy, at least more than probably your typical average Joe,
00:14:43
Speaker
Donald trump trying to get over them like his record on inflation is is not not gonna happen because this is a fair criticism of donald trump he signed into. Law the cares act which was the biggest money printing bonanza known to man ever you know and in lieu of of trump and this is where.
00:15:03
Speaker
he famously got into it with Thomas Massey calling Thomas Massey up on the phone because Thomas Massey literally drove back to Washington DC to try and at least get a voice vote as opposed to just a general, I don't know, roll call vote. But he tried to at least get on the record who's voting for this during the pandemic. And Donald Trump, and it held up the vote, I think. And he tried to make a case for it. And Donald Trump famously called him up, called him four times.
00:15:31
Speaker
nasty messages, started endorsing Thomas Massey's opponents, et cetera. And Thomas Massey, in hindsight, well, we knew it at the time, but it's definitely been shown in hindsight to have been right, because now this record inflation
00:15:50
Speaker
that we're experiencing today. Yeah, it's getting blamed on Biden because he's the one in office right now, but it started with Trump and his signing of the CARES Act.
00:16:06
Speaker
You come into a libertarian convention trying to tout your record. Oh, inflation was so low when I was in president and that is just going to go over like a lead balloon and it did. It was not good. Yeah, that got some audible jeers from the crowd. However, and you could tell I think, I mean, you could tell like Donald Trump was just like, he was a little put off.
00:16:30
Speaker
like compared to how he normally was because he couldn't again he couldn't get that rhythm he couldn't like you know normally he's got a he's known for his great sense of humor and you know he makes those barbs and those snide remarks that usually the MAGA crowd loves and those insults and everything um and he I think he tried but it just again it was just not going over and I kind of I tweeted last night I was like he got a warmer welcome in the Bronx New York than he is from this libertarian national convention so
00:16:57
Speaker
Like that's kinda that's how bad it was i mean in terms of just. It was hostile territory was more hostile than him going to the bronx where there is like lots of video footage of these you know. Typical bronx voters you know people of color basically all in on the maga trump train now.
00:17:15
Speaker
because they've seen how bad Joe Biden is and how Joe Biden has not done a dang thing for them or their community and things have only gotten worse under Biden. And so this is where there's the rub because I mean, look, I have criticized Trump. I think fairly, I'm not the one, you know, I think that's the problem. There are legitimate criticisms of Trump and then there are illegitimate criticisms of Trump. The illegitimate ones, I mean, we see what's going on with these kangaroo courts and these show trials that are going on.
00:17:45
Speaker
that are absolutely a travesty of justice. There is no way any of these trials should be happening. I've been following along a little bit with the trial up in New York with the supposed hush money payments. That's how the mainstream media likes to paint it, but that's not what's going on at all. I mean, the judge is awful, you know, railroading him, you know, sustaining all of the
00:18:11
Speaker
prosecutorial objections, not allowing the defense, you know, really being onerous and heavy handed with the defense and getting actually even combative with the witnesses for the defense, which is Donald Trump, etc. I mean, it is, I mean, it is a
00:18:28
Speaker
an absolute kangaroo court so you know when you look at that i mean that those are the illegitimate you know they're like oh he's been indicted for 91 crimes like no i mean but that's that that's the sound bite that's what the you know the msm msnbc sound bite is the hillary clinton talking point is these 91 indictments you know like wow that sounds really bad and the sad thing is is that even like political pundits even
00:18:53
Speaker
uh law school like jonathan turley who's you know pretty well known and he's he's like your stock standard democrat but even like your your stock standard mainstream democrats not your progressive ideologues but they are seeing this trial and they are like seeing what
00:19:10
Speaker
What a farce it is. It is absolutely ridiculous. And you even hear like pundits on like CNN saying like, oh, this is bad.

Trump's Trials and Libertarian Support

00:19:21
Speaker
However, it's going to become down to like, what does the jury think? And if they, if the jury convicted him on some bogus, well, he was never convicted on rape, but he was convicted of sexual assault for a woman who had no memory of what happened, when, where, how, et cetera. But yet.
00:19:38
Speaker
So he wasn't convicted on rape even though the media will tell you that but he did get convicted on sexual assault which again is just laughable so you know he's not enough he's in a unfavorable courtroom and unfavorable jury and so he's probably gonna get railroaded but of course that's probably gonna endear people more to his cause.
00:19:58
Speaker
Even more you know because i think there are a lot of mainstream just your regular every day type people who are starting to be like what is going on with this is there there kinda like. This is wrong i mean come on the sitting president is gonna get the sitting president sorry the former president of the united states of america they brought him to trial and he's gonna get in indicted for mislabeling some checks.
00:20:25
Speaker
Like, really? That's all you got? Now, as opposed, and this is what Dave Smith brings up constantly in his podcast, is he's like, look, like we can get him on the legitimate stuff. I mean, if you wanted to call him a war criminal and take him to trial for that, I would absolutely get down with that. Because even though he didn't start any new wars and he didn't,
00:20:46
Speaker
Nor did he really, well, he drew down some of the wars too, but like the war in Yemen, that's an egregious, on behalf of Saudi Arabia, the poorest country in the world, and we're sending arms and munitions and enabling Saudi Arabia to carry on some sort of terror operation to terrorize the world's poorest country, Yemen.
00:21:09
Speaker
For God knows why so that could be construed as a crime, you know war crime And sure if you wanted to put them on trial for that absolutely guilty or whatever just like Obama was before him just like George Bush was before him I mean like I'm an equal opportunity war criminalist, you know, they're all war criminals in that regard But for miss labeling some checks or whatever. I mean that is unreal
00:21:36
Speaker
So, you know, like there's these legitimate, but then you get the people with TDS and they don't differentiate between legitimate and illegitimate. And that's where some of the, some of the lol, you know, lol Bertarians, lol Bertarians come down on where they are just as, um, infected with TDS as your typical blue, you know, blue haired Democrat. Um, and you know, they're the ones that are fortunately the minority of the party now that Angela and Dave and others within the party have worked really hard to
00:22:05
Speaker
maybe not asked but at least make the party is on pallet palatable for those types of people as possible like look just go be a democrat go be gold go be a liberal where you probably belong you're not actual libertarian etc.
00:22:20
Speaker
So look, there are legitimate grievances against Trump. I think I did a whole solo cast episode a few weeks ago talking about my thoughts about Trump because I am kind of conflicted and I still am. So as far as what his speech was last night, I mean, did it move the needle for me? Well, we're going to talk about that.
00:22:39
Speaker
Because here's the thing, if you just looked at Trump, the Trump side of the ledger, and you said, yeah, well, definitely there are legitimate grievances against Trump, even though he did do some good things. And if that were it, then I would definitely be like, yeah, no, why would I vote for Trump? But you have to look at the other side. Who's the opponent? I mean, Joe Biden, this is what I said in my other solo cast when you talk about, will I be voting for Trump?
00:23:07
Speaker
If I were just focusing solely on Trump, it would probably be a no. I would be like, nah, there's not enough there there for me. And I haven't seen enough, I think, change of heart from him. I don't think he's learned his lessons from his first term.
00:23:29
Speaker
But you have to look at the other side of the coin. And this is Joe Biden. Joe Biden isn't Jimmy Carter. He's not just some daughtering old, you know, uh, you know, kindly old man who's just kind of losing his marbles. He is the epitome and maybe the crux or maybe not him specifically, but he represents the evil and the world that he and his family are.
00:23:56
Speaker
evil, literally. And I mentioned this in the last, and again, it's been corroborated again, even since that last podcast episode, but Ashley Biden herself has corroborated the diary that she wrote that James O'Keefe, you know, was raided, his home was raided for because they were trying to keep that out of the public eye. She has corroborated herself that that diary is real. And in that diary, she wrote about teenage
00:24:25
Speaker
Ashley Biden taking showers with her dad, talking about being sexualized at an early age. And you look at her, you know, her brother, Hunter Biden, well, you know, obviously he's a crackhead. He's got drug problems. I mean, that might be overlooked. I mean, maybe. But then you also look at like, again, his sexual proclivities, like he's clearly a sex maniac as well, hires hookers and prostitutes. And again, that indicates
00:24:51
Speaker
probably, you know, these kids who get sexualized at a young age, you know, they talk about, you know, victims of trauma, particularly sexual trauma, that rather than maybe dissuading them or kind of basically it kind of opens the door for promiscuity. And like the level of promiscuity we see with Hunter Biden suggests that there's more going on than just
00:25:22
Speaker
Look, I mean, if he's like Ashley Biden, which we have no reason to believe he's not, and they were sexualized from a very early age, that would explain his immense sexual appetite. Because the child brain, they just can't handle that dopamine. And so that's why we don't let young people dabble in cigarettes or alcohol. Because again, same thing with alcohol. Hey, if you start drinking alcohol, even a little bit,
00:25:50
Speaker
at the age of 9 or 10, well, you are way more likely to develop an addiction and become an alcoholic than if you had waited until your brain was fully formed until you were an adult where, you know, these addictive substances might not be able to take hold the way that they can when you are a child.
00:26:11
Speaker
So like and you know, you talk about the deep state Joe Biden is The deep state or he at least is the puppet for the deep state right now so everything that's going on in Ukraine connects back to Biden this whole war and You know, there's a lot like there's more than meets the eye with this Ukraine I think nobody really fully knows
00:26:32
Speaker
Exactly what's going on but some of the dots are like look there were bio labs in ukraine bio labs that could be connected to some of this gain of function research that led to. The covid virus being let out into the world etc their ukraine is well known for its sex trafficking it's their number one import and export sex trafficking child trafficking.
00:26:56
Speaker
So there's that layer there too. And the fervency, and this is my explain like why the deep state, Joe Biden is going so hard on, you know, Ukraine or bus, like they absolutely won't negotiate. They're just going to let every fighting aged man in Ukraine die. And they're going to basically wipe out, you know,
00:27:19
Speaker
The future of ukraine because they're just not gonna say die they're not gonna negotiate they're not going to come to the table with with russia nothing because i think this means if if ukraine falls the whole that might be like the linchpin of this deep state,
00:27:38
Speaker
Cabal something. I mean, look, there's something far more nefarious, far more under the surface that we are not being told. We have hints of it, but I still don't think we even fully have a full idea of
00:27:53
Speaker
The depravity that is going on through and with Ukraine. And that's why it's so important that these deep state Stooges, you know, Victoria Newland and Hunter Biden and Joe Biden and et cetera are fighting so hard to keep Ukraine out of Russian hands and to
00:28:10
Speaker
back zalinski etc it's gonna be a little fight to the death because otherwise if it falls than that they go down with it i think. And i can expose pride a lot more than we already even know about and it's gonna be ugly is gonna seriously ugly so like if this were just like jimmy jimmy carter just a kindly but probably misinformed.
00:28:36
Speaker
Old man who i just have some generic policy differences with then yeah probably i would i would probably just not vote for trump i may maybe i don't know i would probably leave it blank or maybe lp or whatever.
00:28:49
Speaker
But when we, and I know it's such a cliche, but I really think it's true this year that this is such a pivotal election because you just see like the world is at a boiling point. The world is at a boiling point because there's so much wrong with it. There's so much wrong. There's so much, you know, that has finally come to light and come to surface and the amount of evil and the pace at which it has done so.
00:29:11
Speaker
that we can't even really comprehend what is going on i just we don't know how it went from hey we were going to the mall and movies and enjoying this too they want to sexualize your kid they want to normalize pedophilia they want to turn boys girls and girls boys and um take away all our rights
00:29:31
Speaker
We're not allowed to eat meat. We're going to be eating the bugs, 15-minute cities, track and trace, AI, et cetera. The pace with which all this is changing is we can't even really comprehend that. Within our lifetime, within just the last 10 years, this has been like, what is going on? Joe Biden has already shown
00:29:54
Speaker
How quick you know like he did that title nine revision just with the stroke of a pen. You know all these dei like his pete buddha judge is trying to blame. You know these bridge crashes on racism and also i mean look so he's already done untold amounts of damage so this isn't just like your run of the mail or whatever this is like deeply deeply evil.
00:30:21
Speaker
And there's no other way to put it. So it's like, look, what is our other, what choice do we have?
00:30:27
Speaker
And I think that's how a lot of people see it. Now, if you don't believe that Joe Biden is some unique evil, if you do think of Joe Biden as just like, oh, whatever, just, you know, a kindly old man who just is, you know, a daughtering old fool, but really, you know, harmless, which is, I think, you know, possibly I've been, you know, heard that purposely. They want him there because they want him to see is like, oh, he's just this old fool, but he's not, he's basically harmless when that couldn't be further from the truth.
00:30:57
Speaker
Um, but if you do just see him as like this Jimmy Carter type, then no, you probably wouldn't think to vote for Donald Trump. Like, you know, of course not, you know, like I don't agree with, I don't agree with Biden. I don't agree with Trump. So therefore I'm not going to vote for either of them. So when you recognize, but when you start to look at this from this like literal battle of good versus evil, now look, I still think Donald Trump is a question mark.
00:31:22
Speaker
I still think he's a question mark. I mean, look, is he, we know unquestionably that Joe Biden, or I know, I will say, I know unquestionably, hopefully more people do, that Joe Biden is evil. How good is Trump? I don't know. That's still a question mark. If I were assured he were totally good, but he, again, he's got his own skeletons. He's got his own problems, not as big as Joe Biden. And that's why I said in the last, that solo cast, like,
00:31:52
Speaker
This is just such a terrible choice when we have to be forced to choose between a turd burger and a shit sandwich. But I don't know, maybe Joe Biden's a double turd burger with a side of shit sandwich, and Donald Trump is just a junior shit sandwich. I mean, I don't know. Now, the highlight of Trump's speech yesterday at the Libertarian National Convention was
00:32:20
Speaker
Finally he kinda got a little rhythm at the end when he really did start talking about not what he has done but what he plans on doing and so he actually did make some concessions like. I wanna get rid of the department of education return education back to the states and the parents where it belongs.
00:32:35
Speaker
I believe in the 10th Amendment and states' rights, which that was great too. I forget something else, but the big thing, we'll just get right to it. The big thing was he did commit to freeing or pardoning Ross Ulbricht if he gets elected, which is huge. Ross Ulbricht, if you're not familiar, he was the creator of the Silk Road website, which was basically kind of like a dark web online marketplace.
00:33:03
Speaker
But it was a dark web in terms of, look, because he was a voluntarist, libertarian, believed in the non-aggression principle, even if some of the things that, look, you were allowed to buy drugs on there with Bitcoin. And most of the drugs that was just small amounts of cannabis or weed or whatever, he wouldn't allow anything like there's no kiddie porn or anything like that, nothing that would violate the non-aggression principle.
00:33:32
Speaker
In essence that was allowed to be sold on there but there are things like fake ids and cannabis and they were being sold with bitcoin so it was anonymous and the government didn't wasn't involved in it and you know the government wants to stick its nose and every business transaction etc.
00:33:51
Speaker
And so, you know, so yeah, technically at the time weed is illegal, but really, you know, hey, like it's a one of those victimless crimes, as we say, so it's not a violation of the non-aggression principle, theoretically speaking. So all Ross did was create this website, this platform for which these peaceful voluntary transactions to occur. Ross himself
00:34:16
Speaker
Was not facilitating he did not commit any of these crimes he was not selling these things directly he just created the the exchange for which to do so. And he was one of the early adopters of bitcoin and so you know it's just like peter schiffner when shift you know like.
00:34:34
Speaker
the government hates competition, basically. And when you get on the rod, the biggest crime you could ever commit is a crime against the government. So basically they went after Ross, they shut down his website, his exchange, and then they tried to, of course, just like they're doing with Trump, they make shit up, they make up evidence. And then, and they try and get the media on their side and they try and
00:34:58
Speaker
malign him in the court of public opinion and write these false articles about him. So one of the false things that was said was he tried to hire some hit men to kill people. Well, it turns out that the cops that tried to fabricate the story after the fact were convicted on corruption. The feds, I should say, I don't think it was the cops, it was the feds.
00:35:18
Speaker
They were actually convicted on corruption, but none of this was, and so they tried to inject this theory that Ross hired a hitman. It wasn't allowed in the testimony, but they were still allowed to allude to it. The defense wasn't allowed to defend themselves against this. You saw this in things like Alex Jones, where he wasn't even allowed to mount a defense.
00:35:38
Speaker
You know, they talk about Alex Jones being the canary in the coal mine I think Ross was even before that with all his sham show trial that went on and so the so You know, you're like, okay. Well, whatever so he got convicted. Yeah, he got convicted for running a website and he was sentenced to a double life sentence plus 40 years and
00:36:04
Speaker
for running a website.

Ross Ulbricht's Case and Trump's Promises

00:36:06
Speaker
Ross never hurt anybody. He did not murder anybody. He did not rape anybody. He did not traffic or distribute any sort of child sexual material. He did not steal from anybody. In fact, the government stole his Bitcoin, which in today's dollars would be worth $3.8 billion.
00:36:27
Speaker
So this, and he was only 29 at the time. So he's already been in jail for 10 years. So he's 40, 11 years. He's 40 years old right now. And so he's serving a double life sentence. So he's got what, 30, 40 more years left in prison because he started a website.
00:36:42
Speaker
So this is huge you know that libertarians have been banging the drum to free Ross for quite some time for well a decade now in addition to pardoning Assange pardoning Snowden etc. Freeing Assange so these are like some of our top three issues and the fact that we managed to extract this sort of concession from Donald Trump is absolutely huge.
00:37:02
Speaker
And so, you know, when I paid, when I made that, um, poll on the me, we, I said, Hey, if we get this, are we going to vote for him? And there were some people who, yeah, be great. You know, there was some that were like, hi, I'm probably gonna vote for him anyway, but there were a substantial number. This is an informal poll, but there were a substantial number of people who say I would be grudgingly vote for him. So here you go. So just on that alone.
00:37:28
Speaker
Trump might have won some people over to his side, to Team Trump at least, maybe begrudgingly. I'm going to hold my nose because look, he's the only thing we have. What else do we have to fight back against the deep state? I mean, the literal evil deep state, we have nothing else. He's the only thing standing between us and whoever knows what kind of a nefarious agenda a lame duck Joe Biden presidency has up their sleeve. I don't know.
00:37:58
Speaker
I'm worried. With the great reset looming and UN agenda 2030, there's just so much going on. Is Trump an ace in the hole? No, because that's the other thing that people were saying was like, well, can we be assured that he's even going to stick to his promise? Well, I said, well,
00:38:20
Speaker
No, that's the concession. So in this hypothetical situation, you're going to have to take this into into consideration. Do you think Trump will make good on his promise that if he promises to free free Ross, that he's actually going to follow through with it? You know, that's a big if that's that's something you're just going to have to take into consideration and make your own determination if that's going to be enough for you to vote for him.
00:38:51
Speaker
And then let's see. Yeah. So, you know, the free, the free Ross side of things. Now look, that was huge for me, like definitely huge. I'm still waiting to see who his VP pick is before I make any ultimate decisions. And even then I'm still gonna, I'm still gonna write it out. So even though that was a huge.
00:39:12
Speaker
You know plus for team Trump on the ledger. It's not like a surefire. Yes. I'm gonna vote for him I'm still waiting to see who his VP pick is still lots of rumors that Tim Scott is gonna be his VP pick and if that's the case, I'm like, uh, I Don't think I can do it. I mean again that would show me once again that Donald Trump hasn't learned his lesson I mean Tim Scott he's another deep stab won't say deep state, but he's an establishment Republican. He's a
00:39:42
Speaker
You know not an icon not the icon of class that we need in this moment Now if he kind of pull if he gets JD Vance in there. All right. Okay game on I can um I can get down with a JD Vance um Vice presidency, uh, hey if he if he gets Vivek in there, I like Vivek. I know there there's again some um, uh
00:40:10
Speaker
disagreement amongst libertarians about our thoughts about Vivek, maybe because of his previous life as a pharmaceutical, some sort of pharmaceutical executive, and so people think he's not trustworthy. I like him. He says all the right things. I think his instincts are right. He's super talented. He's super smart. I like him. I'm glad that it looks like
00:40:40
Speaker
At least that Trump is listening, like Vivek is becoming somewhat of an advisor to Trump and being able to bend his ear a little, which is probably why he ended up going to the Libertarian National Convention to begin with. And I saw there too that he was sitting down for an interview while he was there with Tim Poole.
00:41:00
Speaker
And so again that's another very the vague move because the vague did it was very smart with his campaign where he just bypass the mainstream media almost entirely and went on the podcast circuit with any of them not just not just our side but he would go on like you know Charlamagne the God and all these other like some of these other leftist Podcasts and he would talk to anybody and that's why I like the vague because he could hold his own I mean he'd go into enemy territory and he would be able to have a
00:41:27
Speaker
you know, a very straightforward, you know, and hold his ground and not pander totally to them while elucidating and explaining his positions. And I really respect him for that. So I think, again, I think that shows that the Vakes influence on Trump. Yeah, he is. Trump's starting to get smart about this. He's going to have to reach beyond the MAGA base because the MAGA base is not enough to get him over the hump. You know, he doesn't have the suburban mom. Suburban moms still hate Trump for whatever reason.
00:41:58
Speaker
So, you know, he's got to start reaching out, building these coalitions, forming alliances. So yeah, we need these libertarian votes. It feels good to be needed for once. We need you. Yes, you do need us. You do need us. But you have to earn my vote just you just by showing up.
00:42:14
Speaker
by virtue of you showing up to the libertarian convention that's just not an automatic invitation and again he was really ballsy too because he didn't just show up and it's not just like well maybe you'll vote for me he actually asked for the nomination and again i could tell he was like you know he was out of his element that he was getting a lot of booze and jeers um yeah along with some some applause as well but definitely not what he was used to and so normally he can like elongate and you know stretch out these these um
00:42:41
Speaker
speeches and ad lib and things like that. He basically, I could tell he was just trying to get through his speech. I can almost tell he almost seemed a little awkward asking for not just your vote, but nominate me for your president. Wow, that's ballsy. It ain't going to happen again. I don't know if he really thought it was going to or maybe they did, which would be like,
00:43:06
Speaker
That's really silly because i promise you look even though there are mixed opinions about trump within the libertarian world ain't no way, even people who are somewhat receptive towards trump like dave smith and certain other like reasonable libertarians who live in the real world not and capstan in your head who would.
00:43:27
Speaker
Never, never, ever let him have the nomination for the Libertarian Party. They are still the Libertarian Party, and that's not going to change, even though Donald Trump did come and try and pander for their votes. So yeah, wow, super noteworthy. I am, I'm still putting myself in the undecided camp.
00:43:48
Speaker
There's still so much that can happen between now and election day, both good and bad. On both sides of the ledger, both with Trump and with Biden, I put out some reels and an email on my email list, which if you're not on my email list, you need to go to libertyalliancenetwork.com and click on there. You'll get a free download, a free gimme, and sign up for my email list.
00:44:12
Speaker
So you would have already seen my conspiracy theory that I put out this week via Instagram, my email list where I said, look, I've been trying to figure out why
00:44:22
Speaker
they have been allowing the mainstream media to start to admit that the COVID jabs have caused harm. So you've seen New York Times did an in-depth, very in-depth piece, even handed, fairly even handed about the vaccine injured. You've seen Chris Cuomo going on a media tour, kind of
00:44:45
Speaker
Halfway an apology to her but at least just something close to it. I'm the former cdc director himself robert redfield has kind of basically announced the shots were you know not not safe. Deborah burks the scarf lady has kind of sort of insinuated you know halfway that yeah maybe the shots were you know not great and i'm like okay like.
00:45:08
Speaker
my spidey sense is tingling. These are Democrat loyalists, these are DC Democrat loyalists, which is more likely that they just all of a sudden had a change of heart and they actually really are now finally following the science and just admitting something that probably if we're true would get almost all of them convicted of crimes against humanity.
00:45:29
Speaker
Or is there some other strategy at play here and so i'm thinking you are well there's some other strategy at play here but i'm like we'll try to figure out what is it what is the strategy here why are they now all of a sudden. Admitting to these covered injuries and everything.
00:45:47
Speaker
And then i started seeing other news agencies are in in figures like bill mauer start to come out and like bill mauer has been pretty he's been anti progressive he's like he wants to be just a normal same democrat not the woke progressive democrat that's kind of you know gone so far.
00:46:05
Speaker
Out in la la land. So he's trying to bring he's trying to reel the democrat party back in the liberals back in From this, you know destructive woke ism and so he basically directly on one of his recent shows called for Um, you know, can we replace biden because he ain't it like he's an embarrassment. He can't talk etc Well, then the usa today came out with an op-ed saying maybe biden should step down which is really a polite way of saying we need to replace biden because everybody's starting to recognize like he is
00:46:36
Speaker
Well, he ain't all there. It's pretty obvious. So I'm thinking, OK, I'm putting these now. I'm like, aha, now I'm trying to put these together. And like, so here's my conspiracy theory was that.
00:46:47
Speaker
They're going to try and maybe in a limited way make an issue out of these covid shots and operation warp speed and pin the covid shots on trump for his operation warp speed And in order to do that though, they they can't Still have biden in office because biden's just as guilty for mandating the shots
00:47:10
Speaker
So he mandated, even though Trump basically got the ball rolling with Operation Warp Speed, Biden's the one that mandated half the country get them via the ocean mandates and everything. So I'm thinking they might use this as an excuse to get Biden out of the way.
00:47:26
Speaker
Which means they'd also have to get Kamala Harris out of the way because she would also have culpability for that. Which also means they probably couldn't have Gavin Newsom either because, you know, he's he did awful on COVID himself as governor of California. So who is a viable dem that they can't directly tie to COVID so that they can basically pull Trump, pull votes away from Trump
00:47:50
Speaker
And also from rfk because that's you know that they have to kind of they're now they have to factor in rfk cuz rfk is solid on the on the shots and saw it on covid and he is taking votes away from joe biden so they're trying to hit trump where he's weak about his only weak spot you know compared to biden. Which is covid and operation warp speed and something that even republicans and liberty minded folks like will rightfully say look and he still hasn't apologized he hasn't you know.
00:48:20
Speaker
You know made it seem like he learned that lesson either so I'm thinking that they're gonna try and replace Biden
00:48:27
Speaker
Um With who i'm not sure but my my other now, this is a stretch I admit Okay, but i'm like look are they going to try and get hillary clinton? Is this how they're going to back door hillary clinton into? The white house so that she can claim her throne. Um god, I hope not But like I said, this is a wild year anything can happen So, um, you know and she's problematic in and of herself, but she wasn't directly involved in the covet stuff Even though she probably agreed with it, etc, etc, but she can
00:48:57
Speaker
You know, again, if it's a referendum on orange man bad and the Cheeto and, you know, Donald Trump has been indicted 91 times and might even have a conviction by then, um, you know, they, people might vote for holder and she's not senile like Joe Biden. She might be evil. She is evil, but she's not senile.
00:49:19
Speaker
So that might be enough to sway some voters back to Hillary again give her the edge and it's great makes a great storyline for now We get the you know, the real referendum. We've been waiting for Hillary v. Trump, you know And then she's gonna rightfully claim her throne. I don't know again. It's a conspiracy theory So going back to like look we've got a lot of election to be run that's not even certain
00:49:41
Speaker
that Biden's going to be ultimately the Democratic nominee. So I'm not saying anything. I'm withholding. I'm not saying yes or no or either. I'm still...
00:49:57
Speaker
Withholding judgment and waiting and seeing because there still can be a lot that can happen on both sides of the coin So that's where I'm at and and I will say look look also I understand arguments both for and against voting for Trump and I'm not advocating or like browbeating anybody into voting one way or the other I totally get both sides if you absolutely can't do it you can't vote for Trump and I've heard all the reasons why I
00:50:24
Speaker
I respect that. I get it. I do. Or if you think that the deep state is the greatest evil on the planet and we need to do something to stop it because what else do we have and you're going to vote for Trump?
00:50:40
Speaker
Or if you're just pro MAGA, I mean, look, I don't care. I get it. I'm not I'm not looking down on anybody, whichever side of the coin you come down on or whichever side of the ledger you come down on the issue, because I get it. I understand the arguments on both sides. I think there are good arguments on both sides. So I'm not sitting there trying to persuade anyone towards one side or the other. There are good arguments on both sides. This is not to me.
00:51:03
Speaker
a cut and dry issue there is some gray here there's some nuance there is a hierarchy of values there's some subjectivism going on here about your your priorities etc so i understand both sides and i'm not looking down and i'm not gonna you know necessarily try and persuade you one direction or the other i'm just out laying out the arguments and like we're all just gonna have to come to our own decision what do you think what's your priority at the end of the day is it being the most principled libertarian in the gulag
00:51:33
Speaker
Like most law libertarians want to be. They want to be the most principled libertarian in the gulag. That's great. Awesome. Or do you want to win? And that's kind of what Donald Trump said yesterday. Do you want to just keep getting 3%? Are you happy? And a lot of people weren't happy with that because he kind of basically insulted libertarians to their face.
00:51:50
Speaker
Basically, if you want to stay irrelevant, that's fine. Or if you want to join the winning team for once, you know, and play ball, we'll welcome you. But a lot of people saw that as like an insult and it kind of was. And a lot of libertarians didn't really appreciate that. I mean, he's not wrong in a way. So I don't know. I mean, again, I like, I want to like Trump. I think that's where I am. I want to like him.
00:52:17
Speaker
And I do to an extent, but like, again, he is problematic. There are some things about him that are problematic. So again, let's just, I'm just going to go with the wait and see approach. I'm still going to wait and see was a huge move though on his part. And I pray to God that, you know, um, something comes out of it for Ross, regardless of whether Trump gets in or not, that maybe we can.
00:52:40
Speaker
you know increase the advocacy and awareness of his plight and Something down the line even if it's with Trump or without can be done for him because it's just a travesty of justice to see this peaceful man Serve a double life sentence plus 40 years for creating a website that ultimately is what I hope comes out of his
00:53:05
Speaker
speech if nothing else is that we get advocacy and awareness for ross and that maybe someday an innocent man will be free from government tyranny and that would be the ultimate you know concrete win of the night oh and then sorry i can't because there's a lot here he did also uh vow to in the ukraine war which is huge as well like he's like nope ukraine's done we're gonna negotiate peace we're not going to be doing that etc and he does have the bona fides on foreign policy to say that because he was
00:53:35
Speaker
fairly solid on foreign policy.

Trump's Foreign Policy Commitments

00:53:37
Speaker
Again, not perfect, but compared to his predecessors, he was fairly solid on foreign policy during his first term. So that is something that he can hang his hat on, that he has a track record of libertarian
00:53:50
Speaker
success on his non-interventionism, etc. His instincts on that have been correct. He also vowed to put a libertarian in the office or in the cabinet. He didn't say who. And again, these are all just promises. Again, you have to take into consideration. Is he going to keep them? I don't know. We'll see. And he didn't specify which libertarian. He's also talking about, I'm going to put Nikki Haley back in cabinet too. And I'm like,
00:54:15
Speaker
Like this is why I just get so frustrated with Trump. Like why? No, she's awful. Have you not learned that yet? Like, or is he just saying it to try and keep her happy until he finally officially wins the nomination? I don't know. You know, this is always a thing with Trump. Oh, it's always 40 chests. I mean, sometimes it is though. In this case, there might be a, you know, an argument for like, okay, is there some 40 chests going on? Like he's trying to keep Nikki Haley happy to keep her and her donors at bay till he solidifies the nomination.
00:54:44
Speaker
But there's also a strong case to be made for he continues to pick all the worst people and he hasn't learned his lesson and he's still listening to the wrong people and letting them chirp in his ear and put these bad ideas and you know like hasn't figured out who's the swamp and who hasn't and if that's the case, God help us.
00:55:00
Speaker
Because if he still hasn't identified who's a swamp creature and who isn't, then how the hell is he going to drain it? So there's my argument against Trump. So you see me going back and forth. I vacillate. I don't know. So this is where I'm at. Love to hear your thoughts on

So I hope you found it informative thought-provoking enlightening and I do have some interviews set up for the next couple weeks with some returning guests one is Somewhat recent and more recent guests and the other one I haven't talked to in probably about a year and

Speaker
And so I think we're going to kind of continue the conversations we started on our first interviews. So I do have some interviews lined up, so stay tuned to that and I will catch you next time. Take care.
