Another Cabin In The Woods Movie

S2024 E70 · What We Saw Last Night
Avatar

The year is 2024. Enrique and Hector were chillen at some random house, talking to some girls. He hasn't seen Hector since he went to pee.

How was your Halloween? Did you do anything cool? Spooky? Does Luke Bryan know that his face is a corn maze? Did you know that "rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey, whiskey makes my baby feel a lil frisky"? Have you ever been to the Lincoln Hill Haunt in Manayunk? Frightland in Delaware? Is Ghostface too easy of a costume? Are cheesy, goofy movies good? Is "the cat out the box"? Would you be friends with Hector, and why? Would you have a wedding in the woods? Why is there always a single hot girl randomly in a friend group? is "Jay" the go-to name to call Hispanic men when you can't pronounce their name?

Shoutout to Joe Bandelli for early access to Another Cabin In The Woods Movie. Check it out on Tubi

He drops on him? No, no, no. What's with all the aggression? I had to put the straw on my diet coke. so yes this roll path That's like my water. Like how you have to go get water. That's the same. Okay. All right.

Special Episode Introduction

00:00:23
Speaker
Another episode of what we saw last night. This is a special episode.
00:00:27
Speaker
um because we're doing something that we've never done before. We'll get into that later.

Halloween Report Card

00:00:32
Speaker
But as always, we'll um we'll talk about our warm-up question, and which our warm-up question is, since we just got out of the Halloween season, let's give ourselves a Halloween report card. So go through and let's review our Halloween seasons and if we and give it a grade.

Halloween Highlights

00:00:50
Speaker
Tell us about what you did, what you didn't do, what you were going to do differently next year to have a better spooky season. Go. ah You want to start? You want me to start? Oh, I thought you were ready. No, no. these No, I'll go. I have notes. okay So um some of the highlights for my Halloween season was we went and saw several like decorated houses and

Thanksgiving Lights & Trick-or-Treating

00:01:16
Speaker
like home haunts with like really great Halloween decorations.
00:01:20
Speaker
That's always classic, I highly recommend. The website I use to find a lot of these houses is called the Lights and Sites of New Jersey. So that's my go-to because also um like Christmas, any any holiday, you can go to that website and there's lists of like all of the cool decorated houses in your area if you live in New Jersey. They even got a Thanksgiving lights.
00:01:49
Speaker
Yeah, Thanksgiving lights,

Halloween Activities

00:01:51
Speaker
but yeah, if you don't live in New Jersey, um I don't know what to tell you. Another highlight, we went trick or treating on Halloween. That's always, that was like, hit and miss, you know, some neighborhoods better than others. Haddon Heights is the place to go, but we accidentally went to Haddon Field and it was kind of a hot mess, but then we looped back around to Haddon Heights and it was chill. And then this past weekend, I think we did a corn maze at the Red Barn Farm in Hamilton and they have a great corn maze. It was Luke Bryan themed for some reason. um I don't know about all that. I don't really know Luke Bryan like that. The corn maze was like in the shape of him, but it was cool. I thought it was like the perfect like difficulty of maze. Not too sure, not too long. So I definitely recommend going to Red Barn Farm
00:02:49
Speaker
They also have like a snack stand with like snacks. They have like fire pits and stuff where you can kind of sit around a bonfire. There's like cool stuff to do. So if you're in that area, check out that farm. There's also like 17 almost identical farms next to it, so. We'll go to Red Barn because that's where we went. Yeah. Shout out to Red Barn Farm.

Luke Bryan Corn Maze

00:03:12
Speaker
We did the easy one in 20 minutes. We did the hard one in about 40 minutes. Yeah, they have like a baby maze for little kids. That one took maybe 20 minutes. Then the the regular Luke Bryan maze, that took about 40 minutes. I don't care whether Luke Bryan is aware of the situation. I think he's a type of guy that would actually sue if he didn't give consent. Yeah, because as far as I'm aware, he's like pretty famous.
00:03:42
Speaker
And they put his face on like all their flyers and stuff. And it's like the theming is very much. So I assume that this is really sponsored by Luke Bryan. I don't know if maybe he's, I don't think he's, he's not from the area. He's like, yeah I don't know. Like what is the relationship between Luke Bryan and Hamilton, New Jersey?
00:04:08
Speaker
Yeah. Brent barn owners, if you're listening, You're gonna get sued. I just thought of the fact, I i think I have the owner's cell phone number. Oh yeah, yeah, because they give you a number to call in case you get lost in the maze. They had a number like written on the wall and he's, but he was like, oh wait, um, she's not here right now.

Corn Maze Experiences

00:04:30
Speaker
I guess the person whose phone that is. So he was like, here, let me give you my number. And everyone else was like, nah, we're good and started to walk away. And I was like, hold up.
00:04:39
Speaker
The thing is he kept looking, he kept looking and we were just like, all right, cool. Yeah, we'll get it. He's like, yeah. Um, what do you say? Yeah. Good idea. And then like the, the other three people we were with were like, okay. And I was like, wait, no guys, I think we need this. And I was like, I'm going to take his phone number because yeah, it's just a corn maze, but like, what if we get lost? so According to the maze dot.com,
00:05:09
Speaker
There's only one officially licensed Luke Bryant corn maze, and that's in Alabama. I think it's like a weird specific corn maze to have. It's there's multiple with the fact that now that we know there's multiple of them. That's insane. Like, yeah, does he have a maybe he has a song about corn mazes. Maybe he he probably references one in one of his songs. Maybe that if you've seen this guy before, he gives off corn energy.
00:05:39
Speaker
He does. He looks like a piece of corn to me. Oh, yeah, he definitely looks like he looks like a piece of corn that instead of like he looks like a piece of corn that's been like ran over a few times. You know, like people be running and they hit the same corn stalk. He looks like that piece of corn. This man looks like he

Trick-or-Treating Experiences

00:05:59
Speaker
would fuck up some corn cobs. The the sweet white corn, New Jersey, like from here is not our state.
00:06:09
Speaker
thing is corn maybe it's one of the things you guys are really it's tomatoes of corn but that guy looks like he would fuck up some buttered corn like he would just go crazy he probably does this with his fingers when he sees a plate of corn anyway um but besides of the theming the the maze was honestly pretty good like i was happy with like the size of the maze and everything I was saying it took like the perfect amount of time. Like when I do an activity like that, I want it to take like roughly an hour, which the two mazes combined did.

Halloween Block Party

00:06:43
Speaker
Cause if you get through it super fast, that's disappointing. And then if you like get lost, lost in it, that is like annoying. Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey, whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky. That is why they made it.
00:07:01
Speaker
and luke bri for the pos Is that how a whiskey is made? I don't think I knew that. According to him, rain makes corn and corn makes whiskey and that makes his baby feel a little frisky.
00:07:14
Speaker
so I hate that because I thought of like an actual baby at first and I was like that's weird. So Julia forgot to mention about Haddonfield trick-or-treating ah Haddon Heights is the place to go. So if you guys want to go trick-or-treating in this immediate area, Haddon Heights is the place to go. um But also you should go in your neighborhood too because... Yeah, I was going to mention that. um I kind of feel bad for going to a different neighborhood. The thing is there is hardly any, there are no trick-or-treaters where I live um in the town I used to live in. There was no trick-or-treaters. This area, it's like really rough.
00:07:58
Speaker
But i like after Halloween, I did hear like people saying, like oh, I had candy and no one came. So I think there are there are like a few houses. I'm sure like whatever neighborhood you live in, they have some houses. You're not going to get candy like we got back in our day when we were kids, but you'll get some. But if your kids are the type that want to go like miles and they're getting bags and bags of candy,
00:08:25
Speaker
you might have to go to Haddon Heights, Collingswood area, where like pretty much every house is doing it. Around here, it's a lot more sparse.

Visit to Frightland

00:08:35
Speaker
Haddonfield had probably nine blacks closed off by the police and these whole like the whole street was just filled with people. It was something beyond anything I've ever seen in my life. Yeah, it was basically a block party in Haddonfield. And it was packed, packed with people. Some of the houses had little walkthrough elements, but the problem was, since it was this closed off area, every house had a line of people waiting, like a long line, like all the way to the curb, sometimes longer, waiting to get candy. And then if the house had like a walkthrough element, there's no way you're getting to it without waiting like 30 minutes.
00:09:19
Speaker
And then by the time we got there, most of the houses were out of candy because they just, people would just go around that one area, get all the candy. And it's like, it it was a cool place to go, but I'm like, they have no candy left, so what's the point? But then we went to Haddon Heights, and Haddon Heights is like, most people are participating, but ah it's not that huge crowd that Haddonfield has. Yeah, it's it's it's more of of what it used to be back in the day where almost like 95% of the houses have candy, you know, and that's the problem with areas like where, you know, like, like where we're at, because candy is expensive, you know, and a lot of people are like, I'm not buying candy for some fucking kids. Oh, and in a Haddonfield, someone was handing out high nunes. And I was like, Oh, that's really cool. But they were like,
00:10:16
Speaker
at the bottom of the hill and we weren't trying to walk to the bottom of the hill and then walk back up and then, but also that like, that's really cool. Like people that hand out alcohol, like I really appreciate those people. That's nice to do. Cause that is expensive. Like, and if you want like the goods like that, you have to go to these rich neighborhoods. Yeah. And unfortunately that just is what it is. No one believes in trick or treating anymore.
00:10:47
Speaker
But I guess the only other thing, because I do like to call names a lot, and I guess the only other thing that I like to highlight is I did get to go to the Manion Con, which first time we've been to it, and it was a lot of fun. And then Frightland is always a lot of fun. I went to Frightland with

Frightland Hayride

00:11:13
Speaker
God, who went with me? It was my family. My my my little sister, my my nieces, my nephew, his wife, we all went to Frightland. And Frightland is one of those places that if you have a family of somewhat older kids, maybe seven, maybe eight, maybe you know a little older than that, it's the perfect place because you can
00:11:36
Speaker
you knock out a lot of, like you're spending six hours at Frightland without even thinking about it, you're spending six hours at Frightland. And it's it's a you know it's it's a ah fun night activity to do, especially if it's not that cold. It was cold when we went, so everybody's complaining all the time, like always, but you know Frightland is a great place. It's in Delaware, it's kind of a hike for some people.
00:12:02
Speaker
But it's it's definitely worth, it's definitely worth the trip. They have rides, like they have amusement rides. They have carnival food. It's like a carnival, not a carnival, that's where clowns are. um It's like a harvest festival. Yeah, it was right. Is it carnival? Like, yeah. I've never actually seen a clown at a carnival. Oh, I thought carnivals had like clowns and elephants. No, that's a circus. That's a circus.
00:12:28
Speaker
yeah that's a circus oh well yeah so it's a carnival then and but that's the cool thing about it because when you go to haunt you pay so much money you pay 40 50 60 at these like eastern state and and penhurst and they're famous the thing is they've fallen in off they're not as good as they used to be there's still a lot of fun but frightened you get you're getting the snacks you're getting um the rides, if you're into that stuff, then they have another like Hornet, little Dante's Inferno kind of train ride and they have um hate the the the the hay ride and it's just- Their hay ride one of the is the best hay ride I've been on. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. And I used to think ice used have been Creamy Acres had

Halloween Costumes

00:13:17
Speaker
some of the best animatronics, but going again to Frightland
00:13:23
Speaker
It's just like, they're great. It's it's a long hayride. They're all pretty pretty long, but this one is long. This one's like a half an hour of a hayride, probably a little longer than that. And it's just it's just a lot of fun. It's it's it's cool too, because you're in the middle of the woods, in the middle of nowhere. So that makes it also kind of scary. But that's i mean that's pretty much the highlights of are Halloween. The only difference is like, I went to like a couple of horns, but the, the corn maze, the corn maze being like the beginning of November was a nice ending to, you know, spooky season, I think. Pat, what was your highlights? Um, I, I'm a one, the Lincoln Hill, the Manion Conk was amazing. Yeah.
00:14:19
Speaker
the that was That was awesome. and that they the The cast at Lincoln Hill was so cool and they were really just having the time of their life. So like that came out as a really great haunt. um I went to a a few plays. I saw Esme's Last Séance, which was an independent play at a very small playhouse that fit like 30 people. And um it's about the ah Ruth Doran and thing like she kills. It was loud a lady having a seance and about someone she killed with the intention of talking to them from beyond the grave. um There's like, it's like loosely taught based off of real events. It was a great like play. um ah I think I want to see more from that playwright. She did a great job for her first time.
00:15:14
Speaker
um I went and saw Frankenstein at the Walnut Street Theater. And that was also amazing. um One of the best iterations of Frankenstein that I've seen. Another independent playhouse. um They just happened to be in the Walnut Street Theater. So it's good to see like small playhouses and community movements like trying to portray horror in different ways.
00:15:38
Speaker
um I went to a lot of those like pop

Costume Rules & Inspirations

00:15:42
Speaker
up restaurants and um The best one of the season was ah the Nightmare on Elm Street one by Tradesman. They like just really went into it. um Food was really good. they The food had different elements from their regular food. So like they they really added things and they tried making it look disgusting or like their blood nachos were were like, like they they were able to like dye the cheese red and shit like that. It was cool. A lot of fun. um
00:16:14
Speaker
The other main highlight I had was I didn't go trick or treating, but I saw a lot of trick or treaters and that that was cool. um Just like the area where I work in, they do Halloween very seriously. So like just driving home that night, um seeing like hundreds of kids was like reassuring that in some small pockets, it still exists.
00:16:38
Speaker
um which overall, great time. I gave my Halloween season a 10 out of 10. I watched a lot of scary movies. I went to see scary movies in different like places that were doing them to embrace the Halloween season. So overall, great stuff. Wait, did you guys dress up? Oh, I wore a pumpkin shirt thing, like a poncho. I have ah like this big,
00:17:07
Speaker
poncho that's a pumpkin, so I wore that. um um it's so It's hard to do like costume costumes, because you never know the vibes. like I went to like a small party, but honestly, I hesitate to like do real costumes, because you'll go to like a Halloween party, and no one's dressed up. So that's not a... I don't know. like The Halloween parties that I went to, it was like, you have to arrive in costume or you're not in.
00:17:43
Speaker
Yeah, i don't I don't know. I don't have friends, so I don't go to Halloween parties. But I dressed up as um Virgil from Mahoning. And by that, i mean i will I wore a Mahoning shirt, and I wore black shorts, and I just forgot the headband. Not the headband, the bandana.

Creative Costumes

00:18:03
Speaker
You should have done Patrick Zwa.
00:18:05
Speaker
Well, honestly, I didn't have like a costume or anything in mind, but I wore my Mahoning shirt. And then I realized when I was walking, I was like, this is Virgil's outfit. So I was like, oh, wow. So when people would ask, what are you? I was like, I'm Virgil. And they're just like, OK, yeah, whatever. my My first, I did three costumes for three different events, because i that's what the occasion called for. um I was assigned the apple throwing tree from Wizard of Oz and um I made this like apple tree costume at a cardboard and now there's just apples like all over my office and um it's going to be probably like a year until I get them all out. there Most of them are fake.
00:18:56
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. But there's like, but there's like one real one. So it's like a fun surprise. when There's 15 real ones that are missing currently. Um, we'll find them as, as time goes by. There's like 47 apples that were fake that are missing. I've got three of them. Okay. Yeah. Um, great costume. My, my sister had too much time on her hands. So she made it for me.
00:19:26
Speaker
I made the half of it, she made the other half. um I was Philadelphia Scrooge ah for my villain party, and um that went over really well. and and my My final costume, I always wanted to be like, a me I went as Michael Myers, which was kind of very basic, but um I always wanted to be like a horror movie character, and I've never been one before. so That's what I wanted. You've never been Ghostface? Never. Wow. My mom's, my mom used to make my costumes and Ghostface was too easy. So she'd be like, pick something harder. That's fair. All right. That's fair. Yeah. I was like, I was always like a dinosaur firefighter or like a very ornate Dracula costume that my mom would make where I could be both a vampire and a guy at the same time. I don't know.
00:20:27
Speaker
Yeah, like you don't, like you kind of look and you look at the corner yeah the of the room where the shadow is and you're like, is that a guy or is that a vampire? Yeah. My mom was like, you're not going to be Ghostface. That's too easy. And it's like, all right. That was the only costume I fit in as a kid. So then the mask was literally everywhere. So as a kid, I was Ghostface like a thousand times. And I was lucky like a year ago, um ah Marlene Gitt got me a a Michael Myers mask, so I've been waiting to until like for a real occasion to use it. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah. Alright, let's move on. um we We were lucky to get reached out by Terror Films and they set us up with a screener for an upcoming movie from our

Terror Films Screener

00:21:20
Speaker
friend Joe Bendelli. Another cabin in the woods is the film. We're gonna get in that into that in a minute, but before we
00:21:28
Speaker
i'll Get into that, you know like Terra films a really solid Hard production company they make a lot of good things they distribute all over they got a lot of stuff on to be shutter prime Hulu pretty much any streaming platform you could find a Terra films production production. So um do you guys have any favorite films from terror films productions? so I looked it up and The only ones I think I've seen was Um, the hell house series and what's it called? The taking of that? I was going to say that one.

Movie Review: Another Cabin in the Woods

00:22:08
Speaker
Those are the only, here's the thing. I may have seen more because have you seen be my cat? I don't know. See the thing is I,
00:22:16
Speaker
i've I put on sometimes movies and I forget movies are on. And then like, you know how unless it's Netflix, it just keeps going and going and going and going. right So there's times when I'm like cleaning or doing something and then I'm like, oh, this movie looks pretty funny or this movie looks pretty good. So there might be a movie or two that I might have seen. Definitely. I know that we've watched.
00:22:39
Speaker
Right, right. That's what I'm saying. And I'm also really bad with remembering like names and stuff like that. So there's a possibility that I've probably seen a few of these movies. And i love the thing is, I love these type of movies. like A lot of the movies I saw in there, I was like, all right, these are like your cheesy, kind of like just really goofy movies. But I secretly like those movies.
00:23:06
Speaker
I watched the Wendigo and I liked it a lot. Well, yeah, it's not a secret anymore. The cat is out the box. but Julia, do you want to have any films or? um No, I was going to say The Taking of Deborah Logan is really solid. I'm going to check out some more of their films, though. i One thing I do appreciate is that a lot of them are on 2B and 2B is accessible for a lot of people. So I really appreciate that.
00:23:40
Speaker
Nice, yeah. um All right, cool, let's move on. So yeah, so they gave us a screener, um which gave us the ability to watch another Cabin in the Woods movie. um We're very thankful and grateful for that. That's awesome that they thought of us and sent it to us. um So we were able to watch it be before it hits. It's going to be hitting on 2B soon. um So ah definitely check it out, guys.
00:24:07
Speaker
Yeah, so before we we we get into that, have you guys seen the movie Cabin in the Woods? Yes. Yeah, this movie is not like it that at all, but I do enjoy um the title, Another Cabin in the Woods movie. It's definitely a reference to Cabin in the Woods, but it's also more so a parody of like every movie about a Cabin in the Woods because it's very much like the evil dead, it's giving like cabin fever. So it's not just specifically like.
00:24:41
Speaker
referencing Cabin in the Woods, it's that like genre. i like the I like the name that it's like another cat like cabin in the woods movie. Right. you know it's it's it's Very clever. Because it's a movie about a cabin that happens to be inside the woods. And I thought that was. All right, really, really quick. recommend another Recommend a Cabin in the Woods movie, not Cabin in the Woods, quick. First one you think of. OK, I'm going to recommend ah an episode of a show.
00:25:10
Speaker
um No, I said totally please okay. Um, sleep away. Okay. Pat go say, say he evil. Okay. Um, that's cheating because I already mentioned that, but, uh, what? All right. All right. Then, um, cabin fever. if but Okay.
00:25:38
Speaker
ah you give it one Oh, I'm going to recommend the movie honeymoon. That's a interesting cabin in the woods movie, but yeah, those are some, just so you get the general vibe of the film that we're talking about.
00:25:54
Speaker
Um, yeah the poster, I love the poster. It's got the cast. There's a bloody stump, some arrows, a hatchet in there. Um, overall good times are had.
00:26:08
Speaker
Love the ah poster for it. we'll put a thumb We'll put it as a thumbnail or something. Yeah. Do you want to give a quick brief spoiler free synopsis? Sure. um So the movie opens with like a title card that has a quote on it. And we love a title card. But it says, a successful marriage requires falling in love many times and never getting murdered at your own wedding.
00:26:39
Speaker
which the original quote says, um a successful marriage requires falling in love many times and always with the same person. And I think that's a really great quote, semi unrelated. That's an awesome quote, but I like that they put a spin on it. And you know they're like, this is something different. And you know, there's a wedding and there's gonna be some murders. And it looks like we're gonna have a whodunit on our hands.
00:27:07
Speaker
So the general synopsis of the movie, we have um Grant and his fiance, Sarah, they are headed to a cabin in the woods that they've rented an Airbnb to have their wedding at.

Character Dynamics & Mysteries

00:27:21
Speaker
So a little bit different. Usually we see like bachelor parties and like getaways pre-wedding. This is their having their wedding at the cabin this weekend. The wedding itself is happening there.
00:27:35
Speaker
um So they have some of their friends there. um For some reason, Grant's like really hot exes there. That he hasn't talked to in years, but for some reason she's there. A little bit weird. They got their other friends. There's a couple, Carter and Trish. um Their other single friend Beth. They're all there at the cabin. They hire this random guy.
00:28:06
Speaker
Um, to perform the wedding, which also a little bit strange. It's like none of your friends can get a marriage license. You just hired a stranger to meet you at a cabin in the woods. But yeah, there's this random guy, Hector, who's there to perform the wedding. And then you have Walter, who's like the stereotypical, like weird, creepy caretaker of the place. And they're all at this cabin in the woods for this like weird wedding. It's a little sketchy. You don't really know like.
00:28:37
Speaker
What's the backstory? It's like why it seems like the people there aren't their close friends and family. It's just like the people who were willing to show up. So from the jump we get that like, you get the vibe that Grant and Sarah's relationship is there's something off about it because it's like, why are they doing this quick janky wedding out in the woods? And why did they invite this random assortment of people? It almost seems as though like the people close to them would not have agreed to be there. And there's like a ah brief reference to like, Sarah says, oh, I wish our parents could all be here. And Grant's like, oh, I don't wanna talk about that. So it's like, what's going on with their parents? um Maybe his parents are just dead, but there's also a reason like why her parents aren't there. So that stuck out to me in the beginning. I was like, there's some, definitely some weirdness going on here. And then-
00:29:33
Speaker
One of the things I can't wait to talk to ah Joe about when we interview him. Yeah, because it's kind of, um, you, you never find out. Like, I don't think that's a spoiler, but, um, you never, you never do find out. And it's kind of a mystery as to like, what are all these people doing here? Like, how did they, how did this come about? But from,
00:29:56
Speaker
My guess is that it seems to me like there's something up with Sarah and Grant to where like their actual friends would not have agreed to be there. Also, it's a movie and it's, you know, it's a parody. It's got silly vibes. So it doesn't have to make total sense because for example, like his ex is there and they do say like he hasn't talked to his ex in forever and he just like randomly invites her to his actual wedding. Like what's that about? Well, I think he didn't invite her.
00:30:23
Speaker
Yeah, but then it's like, why did his buddy invite her? That's even weirder. Yeah, that was pretty weird. Um, but yeah, I can only assume that like, they either don't have real friends or also, I think we, his ex says she has been out of the country for two years, so she didn't know that he was engaged. So that leads me to believe that they've only been engaged or together in the past two years, I'm assuming.
00:30:52
Speaker
which to me is kind of a short relationship, maybe, maybe not, but I get the vibe that Grant and Sarah have met within the last two years are getting married, but that's really all we know. We don't know anything about these people, anything about their lives. All we see is that they're here for this wedding.
00:31:13
Speaker
At some point, and this isn't a spoiler either, but the, the the The reason, you know, Julia emphasized that everyone's wondering like what, you know, like, like, well everyone like us is wondering like, what's up with the with the couple because the hot X does at some point.
00:31:33
Speaker
um She does at some point ask, like do you think really think she's the one to their friend? Yeah, to Grant's friend. Yeah. um and he And he's just like, well, the thing is he makes a joke about it, but it's kind of like, fuck, I don't know and I don't care. you know It's like, this is my friend. He asked me to come to his wedding. um I'm here at his wedding.
00:31:57
Speaker
So I think that was- The thing is, cause not only, and her name's Danny in the movie, but not only was Danny invited strangely, but she showed up cause she, she must've been like, Oh, I'm about to see what this wedding is about. I'm going to see this Sarah girl. Cause they've never met before. And, but yeah, they're all there for the wedding and typical shenanigans ensue, um, people start getting, I don't think this is a spoiler. I have no clue how to do a spoiler-free synopsis, but people are getting killed. I think you know that based on like the- Yeah, it's a horror. If you watch the trailer and look at the cover and stuff, it's a whodunit, people start getting killed. and But from the from the jump, I mentioned like it really stuck out to me. like This combination of people is strange, so it really makes you think, and like it gets your gears turning, and like
00:32:54
Speaker
What's going on here? What is all of these people's relationship? Cause we don't even really know how any of them met, how any of them are friends. Like there's no context for like how these people know each other at all. And it seems like all of the individual friends have never met each other. They've only met the groom. Yeah. I

Comedic Elements in the Film

00:33:15
Speaker
don't even think any of them are like the bride's friends, which that's another kind of red flag. It's like, she's got no people. It's giving like Kill Bill.
00:33:24
Speaker
when Beatrix has like no um friends or family on her side of the chapel at her wedding. And it's kind of like, you know, red flag. How come you don't know anybody? How come no one's at your wedding? What's going on there? I only know her name is Danny, because the subtitles kept changing into Daddy. Oh, yeah. So. I can't hear without subtitles. I have been on the subtitles and. They are not s insane. They were. um Yeah, well, it was auto-generated subtitles, not like official subtitles. So there was some like goofy stuff going on with the subtitles, but yeah.
00:34:09
Speaker
Clearly though, we're like, okay, Sarah's really not all that. um Also, I'll mention like all of the characters kind of look to me like they're from different films or just have very different styles.
00:34:23
Speaker
Sarah is very much a caricature of 2010 Pinterest like white girl aesthetic. um And I don't know if you guys know what I mean by that, but like her fashions and her style like really stood out to me as being like very specific. And she was almost like a caricature. And a lot of people were like dressed normally. Some of them, their clothing seemed like old, but she was very much like Like Instagram, Pinterest, 2010, 2012. Like, like the color turquoise and like white and chevron patterns. I don't think she wore anything chevron in the movie, but like you could tell she owns a lot of stuff. and Yeah, it's in her luggage. Like coral. And you know, like a white lace top with like teal shorts. This means nothing to you. I know, but just
00:35:23
Speaker
If you know about fashion, like you'll know what I'm saying. That's the type of girl Sarah is. But yeah, that's my general synopsis without giving any spoilers.
00:35:36
Speaker
Yeah. um I liked it. What did you guys think? It was good. It was funny. um You know, um like, comedy, parody isn't always my favorite sub-genre, but I thought this was funny, honestly. It got a lot of laughs from me. There were a lot of bits that they kept going back to throughout the movie, and they stayed being funny. I i love, and I think I know what you're talking about. Well, I don't know. Maybe... Yeah, like, I don't know if I should mention, like, specific things, but there would be things they would keep going back to, and it was funny ever every time. It was never not funny for me.
00:36:16
Speaker
Maybe I shouldn't say it. No, no, I don't think they're- The title card, and i just it just crossed my mind, was like I guess the start of these bits. Because there's like the TVs on, the radios on, when they pick up the phone. There's like someone saying, and and it's it's funny to me because it's like,
00:36:43
Speaker
I'm just going to pretend in my little world that Joe may have added this stuff in because we mentioned last time to him how we were always like, you stupid bitch, why are you doing this and all that? And like on the phone, it's like, you you stupid asshole, why are you following the... like like You would hear... Yeah, so like anytime the radio's on, the anytime the TV's on, it's like they're basically narrating what's happening in the film.
00:37:10
Speaker
they're like you know there's a tv in the background and they're like The black guy's probably about to get killed. Here he is trying to get service on his phone. There's no service out here, dumbass. And like every- Yeah, it's like wait for the sequel. It's like maybe during the sequel. Or like they would pick up the phone and try to call somewhere and you'd get the like out of service tone. But then like the operator would be like, you dumbass. There's still no you service know, out here, asshole. there's a TV in Like you should the background have and known better. they're like, Like- Yeah, it's like why are you- One of the lines I think was like,
00:37:45
Speaker
there's like, oh, and there goes the goofy looking white guy. out the door and the like That's the kind of stuff that. And like, like, yeah, the radio would just be like, yeah, they're going to start getting killed any minute now. Yeah. Like that's, I love that. And it's, I thought it was funny because I watched it twice and a lot of those things you miss because in movies we tend to just like, you know, the radio is playing in the background. You might not really pay attention, but just the whole time watching this film, like every once in a while, like you'll, you'll stop and listen to what's actually being said.
00:38:20
Speaker
on the TV in the background. And it's always like funny it's always funny stuff like that, just narrating like exactly what's happening. um But one of the other bits that I thought was like so funny is how the they're obviously out in the woods. You'll hear like crickets and like maybe howling like a wolf or something like general animal noises but instead of that throughout the film like they had like all animal noises like you hear a monkey and oh wait it's like a dolphin and i just thought that was so funny but it continued being funny because they would use like different animals because then it would be like an elephant i was what but it was like it was always perfectly timed
00:39:04
Speaker
Yeah, because it would be like a tense moment and they would step outside and they're like looking out into the dark woods with like a a scared expression and it's like something really serious just happened. They're gazing off in the distance and you just hear like monkey noises instead of like crickets. Yeah, because I rewatched it also because I noticed near the middle towards the end of the movie yesterday. that yesterday Well, i we saw it yesterday and then or Tuesday, I don't fucking know. Yeah, we saw it Tuesday and then today's Thursday. We watched it again today.
00:39:37
Speaker
And near the end of the movie, the first time I saw it, I was like, wait a minute. What the fuck? like what's I don't understand this radio, what's happening? And then I got, I was like, oh my God. I was like, now I fucking understand why the TV kept saying like, and we see people playing football. What do you think? Oh, who knows? They were probably going to run and split up. And I'm like, what the fuck is going... But then near the end, I was like, oh my God, you fucking idiot.
00:40:03
Speaker
I was like, I get it now 100%. So when I rewatched it today, like a lot of hearing all that stuff um was funny. But it caught me off guard because the the one scene where you just hear the dolphin, I glanced away for two seconds because I was still at work watching it.
00:40:25
Speaker
And I glanced away for like two seconds cause I thought I saw somebody walk by at night and there was some weird shit happening yesterday. Probably the ghost. Probably the ghost or that fucking weird guy, but... And then I heard a dolphin noise and I was like, what the fuck? But then I remembered, I was like, there was a monkey here and there was like a whole bunch of other animals and I don't think there was one bird in the whole movie. but Yeah, like there's no bird

Character Interactions & Humor

00:40:48
Speaker
noise. That is funny though, especially cause it's getting dark really early.
00:40:53
Speaker
So, you know, we're at, we work late, not even that late, but it gets dark at like four o'clock. So you're, if you're like alone at work late and no one else is there, and then you're watching this like creepy movie and then you're like looking out the window, but then from the movie you just hear like a dolphin. And you know, for for like a silly, goofy movie, because you you knew it was going to be a silly, goofy movie the moment they were like, the the first moment in a car when they're like having a discussion and you you see the one resting bitch face girl and then you you get the the the one strangely just out of
00:41:37
Speaker
out of place, hu like hot girl. And then, you know, it's like, okay, this is going to be something. And for it to be like that, they did a good job. And it's funny too, because in the radio, like the little radio bit thing, there's a part where they say like, okay, this is just a character development portion. It's just a bunch of... That was great.
00:42:01
Speaker
They're like, here we go with the exposition. We're about to explain who every character is. Yeah. And and I like it because even though that's a fucking silly thing they threw in there, you they they did kind of develop these characters you know um briefly because there's not much to to develop in um in a movie like this. like You don't need stick like extra extreme backstories. But They did it enough to where you know she's his ex, and you know she's known him forever. So they're all like, do you still love him? I see how you how you look at him, and she's like, please, I don't fucking think about him. He's not my type. And it's like, OK, you know. They're best friends. they They got some kind of history. You know the, the what was his name? Carter, I think his name was. yeah um
00:42:54
Speaker
they They fight all the time. you know they're they're They're good friends, but they're they bicker through the whole movie. you know And it's it's like like Julia said, like you know they're friends, but how close are they? Because they're like bickering the whole movie. they don't I don't think they agreed at all, unless maybe they agreed in the beginning. But it's interesting because Danny was basically one of the groomsmen in the wedding.
00:43:21
Speaker
so yeah But I feel like that adds to, like I said, like we don't really get much backstory on these characters, but I feel like we get just enough. But I like that there's still that mystery to it, because it really adds to like the whodunit. Because you're like, wait, what the fuck is going on here? It's not really super obvious from the beginning. So you're really watching it. like What is about to happen? And I love out-of-pocket stuff.
00:43:47
Speaker
I have my youngest niece says jokes sometimes and people find it so like, it's it's usually awkward and I got to tell her like, hey, we're all like they're laughing on the inside. Believe me, that's just not appropriate. So I love like out of pocket stuff a lot. And Joe's character, which I'm going to call him Mexican,
00:44:08
Speaker
was he was just such a like like a fucking piece of shit pervert creep. And I love movies where they have like a pervert creep in it because they always do some awful the wall shit and and it it never fits and every movie there's like that one perverted creep like just asshole person it never like they're always the one person that never fits and I yeah because he was also the wedding officiant like I said like
00:44:41
Speaker
not only did they hire him to officiate the wedding, he stays for like the rest of the time they're there and like, cause they have the wedding basically like right away kind of shortly after they arrive or like right the next morning. But, and the characters named Hector, but they call him Jay. So ill I guess I'll say Jay like continues hanging out with them for like the rest of the time they're at the cabin. I'm like, why is he still here?
00:45:08
Speaker
Yeah, the thing is, i the first time I watched it, I thought they were friends. And then... he but no He's friend of like someone, because they said like he did like someone's cuz kid. Like a friend of a friend. Yeah. And they're like, oh yeah, my friend Jay. Funny thing is, um my name is Enrique, but this old witch I used to work with, used to call me Jay, because for whatever fucking reason, could not pronounce my name.
00:45:37
Speaker
So I wonder if that's... I wonder that I'm like, I don't know if that's like a standard, like, yeah, just like that they give Hispanic men when they can't say the name. um But this is not the first time we've seen it. So I don't know if that is like a, I got an actual trope. Yeah. But now the the the the movie overall, I love, I love having fun. And we mentioned it

Physical Comedy

00:46:01
Speaker
like throughout the year, there's been some like, pretty bad movies. And then there's been like some movies that didn't do well in the box office. But I like because they were just fun.
00:46:10
Speaker
And this is one of those movies that it's just fun, you know, it's it's a lot of a lot of silly bits that so anything is and again, this could just be me thinking it. There's a lot of hidden jokes. um So back in the day when we used to argue with people, you had to see the memes. It'd be like the shoulder of the shoulder and you're like, I'm saying though, I'm saying that and you just like shoulder to shoulder kind of like spinning around in circles. In real life? like Yeah, real life. Okay.
00:46:44
Speaker
and like Say it to my fucking face. Say it to my... There was that scene where he's just like... Oh yeah, there's there's a scene where he's like, say it to my face. And I forget the line, but he just keeps repeating. She ain't no Trish or something like that.
00:46:58
Speaker
He's like, say it one more time, but he just keeps saying, and he's like, say it again, and he just keeps saying it like over and over and over again. And that just- That was like the hold me back, I'm glad someone's holding, and like no one's holding them back. and and Yeah, it's like he's acting out being held back when no one's holding him. And the thing is like those kind of things, they might they might just like slit people's minds like, oh, you know, maybe that was just a tired bit.
00:47:25
Speaker
But that whole back and forth, that's how we used to fucking argue when we were kids. You know you'd you'd be you you would be to the point where you're like, say it to my fucking face. And it makes sense though, because when you you get mad, you're like, say that shit again. And they say it again, but you're like flustered, because you're like, wait, I didn't plan for this. Yeah. so Yeah, you do. I won't say it one more time. They used to fucking say it again to me, and they say it again. It's like, I swear to God, you fucking say it one more time.
00:47:53
Speaker
And it's like these these little these little jokes that get thrown in there are are great you know because to most people, it'll probably fly right over their heads, but like these little jokes are funny. you know um the The fucking scene where the where the old where the old like creepy white guy they're like talking and then he just like fucking falls down a hill or something and he just keeps the conversation going. I remember he falls and they're like, Walter, where are you? And he's like... The conversation's still going though. And I was like, what the fuck is... you know like these these little jokes These are little jokes that you know a lot of times you don't really... A lot of people don't so
00:48:41
Speaker
you you might throw like the narrative the the the narration, you might throw like some other stuff. But like there's a lot of like little stupid silliness that you appreciate. You appreciate like the the the stupid silliness of certain things. like That scene

Film's Twists & Surprises

00:49:01
Speaker
when he fucking... it's like It's like in the movies where they're walking and then somehow they they get to the end of the hill and they start rolling. But instead of going like, whoa, he just keeps having the same conversation. Like the conversation does not stop. It just keeps going. And he's like fucking falling and still having a conversation like I'm having, you know? And like those little things, maybe because I'm older now, but those little things are funny to me. It's like that. It's like it's like cartoon actions, you know? Yeah. And and that's why cartoons are funny because
00:49:36
Speaker
wrote like Wile E. Coyote would would run and then midway in the middle of the air after he ran off a cliff, he'd look and be like, oh my God, i I'm in midair. you know I'm not on land anymore. Then he falls. like It's that like funny, silly cartoon kind of comedy that they they they they don't really show in movies because most people would think it's dumb.
00:50:04
Speaker
You know, but when you when you... Yeah, the thing is, there's ah there's a time and a place for, like, stupid, silly bits, and this is that's what this movie is. Right. like And that's what makes it fun. Yeah, like, these are, like, really, really dumb jokes, but this is the time for dumb jokes. But, like, you can have a dumb joke if it's executed pretty well, and these are these land. They're executed pretty well.
00:50:32
Speaker
Then you throw in a few murders and you're trying to figure out who did it or why did they do it. Well, the thing is, you get a nice twist too in the end. You do get a nice twist at the end where you're like, Oh, okay. I i didn't see that comment. And then you're like, Oh, you really don't know. You get like a double twist. You kind of think, you know, and then you don't know.

Practical Effects & Makeup

00:50:56
Speaker
So like you really don't know what's about to happen. I'll say also the kills were killing. The kills were doing what they had to do. I really appreciate, they look good. um I really appreciate practical effects. And honestly, in my opinion, practical effects like 90% of the time always look good because it looks real. um And it's just like, there's a level of art into it. Like, you know, there's work.
00:51:24
Speaker
because it's like, I don't know what that wound would look like in real life. I'm never gonna know, but it looks like a real physical object on screen and not just like shitty pixels. So practical effects look real, whether they look real or not, if that makes sense. Yeah, there's one where there's like a hand being split and it just looks so split. Yeah, like that's what I was thinking. We can say they get shot in the hand, right?
00:51:53
Speaker
Yeah, with an arrow and then it splits. But that looked great, even though, honestly, like you see that the hand is split before the arrow goes through it. But at the end of the day, it still looks like a hand that's split in half. So it still like looked good to me. And it's so easy to even do practical effects and and then add some like digital blood splatter on top. And they didn't do that. And I really appreciate it. like the blood ah blood was blooding to me, like it looked good. Yeah. and And right off the jump, you get practical effects and that's like, okay, I see what you're doing here. I appreciate that. Um, I also thought like the makeup in general was good. There wasn't like, you know, there was like some like bruises and stuff, but there wasn't a ton of like special effects makeup going on. But in general, like makeup and hair is something that stands out to me a lot in movies. Sometimes they're just like,
00:52:53
Speaker
Goofiness going on with that and we didn't there was no silliness or goofiness going on here. The hair makeup was solid, which is something that I notice For for for some reason another thing that stood out to me was and it's kind of a it's kind of is a main point but um There's like every character has like their specific Every character kind of has like their specific, I guess, weakness. The the black guy was like in love with this one girl, but like we're not in love, but infatuated with this one girl that he's dating. So like she's his weakness. This, that, and that. One of them has fucking diabetes. And I was like... Oh yeah, everyone's got like their quirk.
00:53:42
Speaker
yeah and one has like diabetes and it's like it's like Beth just says diabetes like like Sarah has a mysterious past Grant is like a basic weird-looking white guy. There's like the stereotypical black guy in a scary movie um you have like the hot girl who like never has clothes on for some reason that's Trish and then Beth is like oh I got a go shoot my insulin right now. what one of the One of the funniest parts to me, one of the funniest running joke that they had, like it was short lived. Because like I mentioned, um Joe's character Hector was like a fucking creep, right? And he's like
00:54:30
Speaker
At one point, I think he like licks someone's cheek and like you know does this kind of stuff where he's just like, you're I fucking... Oh yeah, like he gra he tries to like he corners Trish and tries to hit on her, but then he like grabs her and licks her face. Yeah. Well, before that scene, they were all kind of hanging out and he's like, oh man, I'm basically like, oh man, these fucking girls are high. And they're like, once my wife, once his girlfriend, he's like, yeah, I don't give a fuck, what about her? And then he was just like, oh man, yeah, I'd sleep with anybody except that fucking Ginger, right?
00:54:59
Speaker
And a little bit a little bit after that, when he does like when he like grabs her and like licks her cheek and stuff, you know they get into like an argument and a fight and stuff. And then you know he just just he just got the shit beat out of him. So he's got like blood in his mouth. And you know it's like that whole like, well, I don't give a fuck. I'm going to run out. And then the, what's the girl Beth, right? The old diabetes? Yeah. the The ginger's name was Beth.
00:55:25
Speaker
And you can't be a ginger and have diabetes pick a straw. Yeah, i know but the the funny thing was like when he was telling them about the girls, she was he was just like, oh except for that ginger, he's like, oh you know, kind of discussed it. And after that part, she comes up to him like,
00:55:42
Speaker
with what seems like genuine care. And she's like, here, here you go. Are you okay? And she gives him a handkerchief and he's just like, fuck you. And like slaps it out her hand. And I don't know what I thought. It's like, she's the one that would, but he's not interested. Right, right. and And she was just like, oh, here, let me clean it off for you. Let's go to the back. You know, and in most movies, it's like, let's go to the bathroom. You clean it off. And you're like, hey, thank you. You know, most movies have like that cheesy line where it's just like,
00:56:10
Speaker
they're stitching him up and it's like, oh, you know, maybe you are right. And instead he just like slaps that out of hand. He's just like, fuck you. And he walks out and it just reminds me of the joke of when you like try to get a girl's number and she says no and you're like, bitch you ugly anyways and like walk away. I don't know. I just thought um that don't just that combination. I thought I was like, it's just that these little things were just funny to me.
00:56:37
Speaker
Overall, it was it was really solid. I was like pleasantly you know enjoying this. I can't wait for it to hit, to be to tell people about it or have them you know try to watch it. I think this is a movie that would be good watching it like in a group.
00:56:57
Speaker
Fun fact, it wasn't on letterboxed earlier today, but now it is because I mentioned to a friend like, oh, this movie comes out tomorrow. You should watch it it movie when it comes out. And he looked it up and he was like, oh, it's not on letterboxed. But then he went and added it because you can add movies to letterbox. So it's on there now. Good, because I also try I was going to.
00:57:23
Speaker
I was going to, um, I noticed it wasn't on letterbox. I was going to bring that up to Joe if it was still not on letterbox by the time we we talked to him. Yeah. I have a friend who's like really super into letterbox and I mentioned it to him and he like immediately he's like, Oh, when I get home, I'm going to add it. It's going to take a little while to show up, but you can refresh it and it'll be on there. And I was like, Oh, damn.
00:57:47
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I couldn't find it either. And I'm like, maybe I spelled it right. Maybe so. Because in letterbox, if you forget like a fucking S, it's not even popping up. Right. So I was like, i maybe I dab, whatever, whatever. But then today I checked and I was like, oh, it's really not on letterbox. Blood in and blood out also isn't on letterbox for some reason. You know, it makes you feel a little bit special whenever you watch a film that's not on letterbox. Yeah.
00:58:14
Speaker
Well, Blood and Blood Out's a great film. I think they should show that in schools, but for some reason that's not on letterbox. And then I noticed there's some movies that aren't, and I guess you have to add them now. I just realized that, so. Yeah, you can, there is an option to add stuff. Yeah, so that that's cool that you can just, it's a it's it's a great, the thing is this was ah this was a great,
00:58:41
Speaker
gift for us, I think. And and it truly was like something really cool. Yeah. like We really, really appreciated being able to watch this early. I got i saw Pat's text at like pat texts me and I saw the text at like five in the morning and I was like, what the fuck? I thought it was... I was so confused because I'm like, why are you texting me to watch this movie at like five in the morning? But you probably text me like at 10 and I probably saw that five. you No, I got the email at two.
00:59:06
Speaker
Right. well Well, then I went to the bathroom, I came back and then I looked at it again because I was like, well, I'm going to text back because I'm so confused. You know, you just wake up, you're so confused. And then, because I thought it was like, yo, you have to watch this movie. And um I was like, what is going on? Right. like it Is this like the greatest movie ever? I thought it was just like a random movie on shutter or something. But then I saw like the full text and it's like um Joe Bandelli wrote me and and was like, you know he's he's got this new movie coming out and he wants us to to take a look at it. And I was like, yeah, okay.
00:59:41

You know, like, let me wake up and re-see this message again. And then I saw it again in the morning and I was like, that is so fucking cool that, you know, we got this opportunity to take a look at this. take You know, it's it's it's cool to be able to have that in your resume of flexes of like, oh, yeah, I saw that movie already. um The director, writer, producer, actor.
01:00:08
Speaker
Joe Bandelli sent it to us. you know like That's a huge flex that now I have in my arsenal. Yeah, we really appreciate those who look out for the little guys. right because it's We're nobody.

Movie Franchise Endings

01:00:21
Speaker
We just have a little podcast from New Jersey and Philadelphia, yeah and he agreed to interview with us, and he sent us this screener because he's from the area. and It's always nice to see people like look out for where they're from. Yeah. Yeah. Can't wait to talk to him again. He'll be on, we'll be interviewing him on November or December 5th. That's his day off. He's currently on the set of Hell House LLC lineage. They are getting that done wrapping or they're they're in making the movie now. When we talk to him, they'll probably be wrapping it up.
01:01:04
Speaker
Um, which is exciting because that's we we've talked about that. It's one of our favorite, um, ah film franchises and this is the final film. Hopefully Joe and Steve, uh, the director of Hell House LLC continue to work together because we like what they make. It's, it's hard to keep something going because eventually it's like you have to give in to something. Well, it seems like, you know, and a lot of movie franchises, you know, there's, and say there's like eight movie, like, okay, the, the nightmare on Elm Street movies, right? Part two sucked. Part three was amazing. I liked part two. I did too, but I'm saying maybe it didn't suck. I did like part two. Part two wasn't as good. Oh, I watch it. Drink again, my bad. But Dream Warriors, I think it's one of the best.
01:01:59
Speaker
And then it's also like, there's, there's bad movies in that series. There's bad movies in almost every, Oh, maybe not. Maybe not the Jason series. Oh, the first one's bad. But the, the, the, the, the point I'm getting that is like, it's really hard to, to keep like a series going. And, you know, they, they, they do a good job at keeping these movies true to what they are. You know, the you don't need to switch them. You have.
01:02:28
Speaker
you have the right formula, like you don't need to like tweak things. And I've said it many times, carma Carmichael Manor legitimately terrified me. um Again, we were watching in the dark room in a place that I thought I still think is a little on it, but you know, it's like they they do such a great job. I just rewatched Hell House, the original, maybe like a few months ago, and you get back to, you know, you get back to these like original,
01:02:58
Speaker
feelings of when you first saw it you're like you know what this is a good movie you know and it's it's cool that it's cool that we're gonna experience the last one but it sucks because a few years down the line we always are like man i could go for one more you know for whatever movie it is yeah but then you just like re-watch True, true, true, true. Like when the Star Wars saga was supposed to be done, I was like, no you know, I could probably go for some more. And now there's a trilogy coming out and it's like, do we need that? But when it come out and be like, oh, hell yeah, I'm watching all three. But I look at it like it gives us something to look forward to the they'll end Hell House. And that's great because they they wanted to end this way. So they're going to end it this way.
01:03:53
Speaker
And then, but it's like, what are they going to do next? You know, they're going to make stuff. You know, we, we just watched, you know, another cabinet in the woods and we, oh, I enjoyed it. So there's going to be more content out there. Um, thankfully, you know, like people like Jones and other people in the, like the guy who does Terrifier, he's going to end Terrifier in a one or two movies. And then he's going to make other horror movies.
01:04:23
Speaker
And we're going to be living in a world where there's news horror coming out. I do appreciate that though. Ending on your terms, you know, a lot of movies and like a lot, again, going back to like franchises and stuff, a lot of them end because it's like.
01:04:43
Speaker
Dude, it's time to

Survival Logic in Horror Movies

01:04:44
Speaker
fucking end, man. Like, this is pretty bad. And you get some movies that end on their terms. I don't know if Friday the 13th ended on its own terms, but it ended with one of the best movies in the in the series. You know, and it's it's good for you, man. Finish it on your own fucking terms. And yeah, oh yeah, sorry. There was no end, nothing after the end. Anyone else have anything to say?
01:05:15
Speaker
Oh, one thing I think you put in the in the document, you put like the question, like when would you leave the house? like If you're at the cabin in the woods, at what point would you leave? um My answer to that would be like probably right away, but also probably not right away, because I'd be a victim of like groupthink. And I'm a get the hell out of there person. I don't mess with any of that stuff. If something shady is going on at a strange cabin in the woods, I'm leaving.
01:05:44
Speaker
But if I'm with like five other people and they're chilling, I'll probably chill too. But also my response to that is, I don't think you could leave because in this situation you're in a movie and the car is never going to start. So you're not leaving. and like in it But also, here's my thing. In every movie,
01:06:05
Speaker
They're like, oh, the tires are flat. The tires are flat. You could drive on the rims a little bit. You could drive on rims for a couple miles. I'm not saying. ah I don't think men can. I think only women can. I think cars only work. Don't ask me how I know that. Don't. But a woman's going to. And this is in all seriousness, like as a woman, like you're trained to like.
01:06:29
Speaker
If you pop a tire on like the middle of the highway at night, you drive on the rim to get off the exit. You don't just sit in your car and like wait for help. That's stupid. like You can just drive on the rim. Will you just give me a call and I'll pick you up? But yeah but am I wrong, though? like Would you not just drive on the rim? Listen, I'm fucking scared of everything. I would have just fucking left. I wouldn't have told nobody.
01:06:57
Speaker
good In this scenario because yeah, we're I'm not that cool with I'm saying me like you're like Oh someone slash the tires I'd be like so fucking what and I would drive on the car will move It's not gonna be pleasant, but the car will drive Just because the tires are flat if you're about to get murdered Yeah, anyway that's me going off on movie logic that happens in like every movie and every time I see it I'm like, but here's the I've gotten a flat tire and like I drove like a little bit further to like get to a safe spot and like pull into somewhere and not just sit on the side of the road. I agree. But then I always, and this is
01:07:42
Speaker
pro I don't believe in coincidence. It's just a coincidence that this is what pops up in my mind when this usually this scenario happens. But I think about what Joe said when I was like, why the fuck don't people do this or do that? or It's like you believe that... It's like the the the whole um you're in this place, like you do not know you're in a horror movie. Right. You know, it's like, and so so you's like I said, it's like, I would leave right away. But then if I'm with a bunch of people who aren't leaving, I'd probably just shut up and stay. Right, right. I did think it was really funny, though, because the one car they have won't start and the other one has all flat tires. So they're like, all right, the plan is to remove all of the tires and switch them onto the car that starts. And I'm like, there's a killer. Because then like half the group is i also
01:08:34
Speaker
It doesn't take that much to switch a tire. You might be able to get away. Here's the thing. and I think that they were switching all fourth. Here's the thing. I thought that was a fucking great idea. actually Yeah, same. I thought that was a brilliant idea. I can't. like like We're going to switch the tires. I'm like, holy fuck. genius i'm like fucking that's That's people watching a movie logic.
01:08:59
Speaker
That's not fucking horror movie logic. I would have just drove on the rims because it's like, how far is it to like the nearest store or whatever? But also like the other couple is like, oh, we can just hold up in the house. And it's like the killer is inside the house already. The killer has been in and out of the house. That's another like horror movie logic thing is they're like, we'll lock all the doors and we'll just stay inside and wait for help when the killer has already been inside at some point and yeah still be. I'm just saying.
01:09:28
Speaker
According to the internet, changing a tire can take as little as ten minutes seven to 10 minutes to a few hours. No fucking way, man. So you're ty you're talking minutes minimum to change all of the tires? No, no, no. like In NASCAR, they do it in seconds.
01:09:50
Speaker
It does not take it. well There was like four people left at that point. So I think if all four of them took one tire, the thing is, the thing is it would take to get all four tires off of that car. And all you got to do, all you got to do is you do two tires at a time, move the jack, do two tires at a time. And then every car, if you, if you're real friends and like you've watched NASCAR, you practice,
01:10:20
Speaker
This is like stuff you practice, though. There are people that practice changing tires. Did you say if you're a man? No, he said- Like a NASCAR man. He said if you watch NASCAR, you practice changing a tire fast and tying yourself. I don't watch true crime and then go out and practice committing crimes. I'm gonna be so fucking serious. Yeah, you should not commit crimes.
01:10:44
Speaker
I'm going to be so for real and you guys know this, but I do not change tires. I have never changed a tire. I probably never will. Cause what business do I have? Um, I, yeah, I changed the tire last year. Um, that being said, if you're in danger, like active danger, do not like sit and wait in your car, like,
01:11:12
Speaker
It's not gonna, like if if you're in danger of like life or death, just drive on the flat tire. I promise it'll be okay. The thing is, you don't drive on rooms if you plan on, like if you plan on keeping that room. You, you, you. Mine's, my rooms are. The thing is, if it's it fits down to life or death, you're riding on that fucking rim. Right, that's what I'm saying. If you're just pay more money you get another rent in danger of death,
01:11:39
Speaker
um Put a fucking donut on it. My rims are fine, though. ah Listen. the average I'm just saying the average NASCAR pit crew is 12 seconds to change four tires. Yeah, um I don't know about you guys. I don't fucking know anybody that's on a NASCAR pit crew. I feel like Luke Bryan watches NASCAR. So imagine it's the three of us at this cabin in the woods. Realistically, how quickly do you think the tire is getting changed? I you change i can change. Eight minutes. About 15 minutes.
01:12:11
Speaker
to Say we could have it knocked out. Hey, we'll be on the road me and Pat Yeah, me and Pat we if we I'll hold the flashlight. Well, you would have to we would have to have some kind of money yeah Somebody's gonna have to put the light, you know, so I Know I know what you think but we can't do it all like No, i listen, i there is a job for me. There is always... there's no That's my contribution. Someone has to hold the flashlight. The thing is, there is we would we would be realistically a mile away in 15 minutes. like Tires changed a mile away driving safely. I'm just saying, driving on the rim will get you at least a mile. Yeah, but we could drive several miles.
01:13:03
Speaker
but yeah do We don't need to stop at the next town, because we're safe. Like, we're good. We're out of land. Yeah, once you get the road, you just kind of... You good. Even in horror movies, I feel like in horror movies, once you get to the road, that's it. The movie's done. Like, you're good. You try to get to the road. But then sometimes there's that trope of, like, the killer pulling up in a car. Like, you run out into the road, and then you see headlights, but it's the killer. It didn't happen on in the violent nature.
01:13:33
Speaker
Yeah, well, also realistically, I'm not saying somewhere that's like more than a mile or so out from civilization. Like I don't mind camping. I don't mind the woods, but it's like, what business do I have being more than a mile from civilization? Like I want to be within like an hour's walk of like, if I have to go on foot to get help, I don't want it to take more than an hour on foot to get help.
01:14:03
Speaker
I'm not staying anywhere that's like miles out in the woods personally.
01:14:10
Speaker
You can walk a little more than a mile an hour. No, I'm, no, I'm not saying like, definitely you can an hour. That's like two, three miles at least, but that's like maximum. I'm not ideally like a 20, 30 minute walk because that's fair. Like,
01:14:29
Speaker
I don't live in a movie, but,

Final Reflections & Recommendations

01:14:31
Speaker
you know, emergencies happen and I don't want to be in an emergency, especially when there's no cell phone service. Cause these places never have cell service. I don't want to be that far from civilization with no cell phone.
01:14:47
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. All right. Anything anyone got anything else? Nope. I think that's it. I watched another cabin in the woods movie on to be Drops November 8th, so it'll be out by the time we post this Mm-hmm. Let us know what you think. Yep. I don't have any final words and That's all folks. All right
