Speaker: All right, Pat, we're ready.

Speaker: All right, cool. Another episode of what we saw last night, or a minute-sode. As we go through our bracket, our updated bracket, we are in the Shocking 16, and we are going into the... I had something for Elite 8. I don't know, Elite 8.

Speaker: I'll come up with a horror name for Elite 8 while we're doing this. So here's how we're going to do this. We will go through, we'll say the movies and then we will read the winning quote because everyone's already seen in that.

Speaker: And we will talk about the and a new, um, the new matchups. right, let's get into it. All right. We'll start with the first matchup.

Speaker: Just say the movie and then, uh, the winning quote. Well, we don't, we don't have the, Oh, okay. Um, you don't, Oh, I let you all in. okay um so I got it.

Speaker: I was going to say... first I mean, we can read the quotes, and then you can say which one won, but we don't have the results.

Speaker: Oh, okay. Really? My bad. I thought I shared it with you guys. Yeah, we can do that. Alright, let me pull up the bracket then. ah Just say the two movies to save time, because everyone already heard the quotes, and I'll tell you which one won and then we'll... Alright, hold on.

Speaker: Oh, go ahead, Julia, go ahead. Yeah, i already have it up, so I'll just go. um We had Bodies, Bodies, Bodies versus When a Stranger Calls. And the winner was Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. It was relatively close, maybe like four votes off.

Speaker: So that was pretty good. Alright, next is Poltergeist versus The Strangers. And the quote from The Strangers one, also similar margin of difference. The Strangers had a little bit bigger, larger of a margin than Bodies, Bodies, Bodies did.

Speaker: All right, next is Pet Sematary versus Get Out. This one's actually tied dead even. oh um I am texting someone right now and hopefully that I know didn't vote.

Speaker: So I hope they respond within the next couple of moments. If not, I guess we do, what do we do it? A coin flip? There's a, and I don't know if you can see, but there's a chance I accidentally voted twice. Cause I, I don't think I voted. So I went on and did it real quick before this, but then I'm like, maybe I voted earlier and forgot.

Speaker: Um, I can't see that. Right. Yeah. I mean, that's fine anyway. Yeah, that's fine. I just feel as though my vote should count as two. Alright.

Speaker: Alright, next is The Shining versus Candyman. Candyman in a fairly large margin. Okay. Okay.

Speaker: Jaws versus Night of the Living Dead. Our largest margin of victory, Jaws. Makes sense.

Speaker: Nightmare on Elm Street versus Black Christmas. um nightmare i don't know um Black Christmas narrowly pulls it out. Interesting.

Speaker: And then House on Haunted Hill versus Frankenstein. Also on Haunted Hill, also a narrow margin of victory.

Speaker: And then last was Scream versus Hellraiser. This is the largest mar or not the largest the second largest margin of victory and probably the most interesting result.

Speaker: And that's Hellraiser 1. Oh, wow. When you said it was a huge margin, i thought Scream definitely would have won...

Speaker: Yeah, I don't know. 78%. I don't even think of that as like an iconic quote from Hellraiser. Hellraiser is good, and there's like good quotes from it, but that's not even one that like stands out to me.

Speaker: it's It's used a lot in memes. like it's I that's why I kind of took it. It's like popularized a lot. It's used a lot. like um I see memes of it all the time, and like It's talked a lot in the Hellraiser forums.

Speaker: But like I don't know if we have many. like um None of my friends are like big. Only like one's a big Hellraiser fan. Yeah, that that's interesting. That Hellraiser beat it that that much. I mean, how how many votes did Scream get?

Speaker: um Well, they got 22%. um I'm not doing the math. um ah so What is that? 11 votes? 11. No, no, no.

Speaker: Wait minute. I think it's where had 22. Okay. Well, I voted for it, so... I voted for Hellraiser because i'm a I like that quote better than... like Scream has a lot. I don't I also thought Hellraiser was going to lose, so I voted for them as like a... I didn't want it to be a complete blowout where it'd be 100% Scream.

Speaker: No, I mean, that's that's fair. I mean, you should vote for what your heart says, but... I didn't think it would be that. That's our biggest shocker. Alright, let's do the match-ups and we will read the quotes.

Speaker: Well, we're waiting on one of them. Oh, yeah,

Speaker: shit. Give me one second. here Did we flip a coin for this? I was going to say, which one was it? Maybe we should re-vote right now and just decide based off... Okay.

Speaker: My votes get out. Sometimes dead is better versus, by the way, I would have voted for Obama a third time. I want to break this down real quick. um ah The delivery on sometimes dead is better is very powerful um it's like more polarizing than the Obama quote, but they, and both, both quotes hold prevalence to the movie.

Speaker: um But I think the delivery on the Obama quote is so like, he like says it throw away ish. Like, Oh, but like he was, and like, it just, it's so well written, such foreshadowing. It also feels real.

Speaker: So, i'm I'm kind of torn, so I'm still thinking about it. Julia, what's your vote? I don't know. I'm thinking about changing my vote. I originally voted for Pet Sematary, but now I'm on the fence because I do think the the Obama line is very, very funny. I just kind of feel like they could have said something else funny in that moment and it still would have worked.

Speaker: There could have been like a similar joke made. i I think i'm goingnna go I'm going to go with the Obama quote. um Only on the grounds of like, that is the perfect thing that like a white person would say in that situation that like, don't know, it paints that character and like the vibe and everything that's going on in the movie so well.

Speaker: And but like the the but moral impact of sometimes dead is better meaning like hey don't go bury this person in the indian graveyard don't i'm gonna go with the obama quote what do you got yeah i'm going same yeah i was gonna say we might as well just pick that one as the winner all right that one's gonna move on um which good for pet cemetery like because i think also people don't think of pet cemetery as like a

Speaker: all the time. I feel like it's like in the B tier of like horror, the horror panthalons. I think it was last year, i forget what occasion it was, but I had like a party and we watched the new Pet Sematary Bloodlines and there was one person at the party that had never seen Pet Sematary and did not know the concept.

Speaker: So i was like talking out loud and like discussing the the sequel, like as it's happening, trying to like figure out the plot. And I just mentioned, I was like, oh, like I know they come back, but like how does, how does, oh no, it was a prequel. It wasn't a sequel.

Speaker: But I was like, yeah, I know like the people and stuff come back after you bury them. But I was like, I wonder how this works. And my friend turns around and is like, wait, what? Like she did not know the plot to Pet Sematary.

Speaker: And even though this was supposed to be a prequel, it like very much did not work if you haven't seen Pet Sematary. You cannot watch them in chronological order. So that was fun.

Speaker: Still don't think she's ever seen Pet Sematary. but but think it was Halloween. Yeah, something like that. Yeah, I think it was Halloween. It was like October. Alright, so...

Speaker: It's Bodies, Bodies, Bodies versus The Strangers. Get Out versus Kidding. Should we read the quote? or just we I mean, like they can also see it on the bracket.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah. Just to make it easy, let's just go through what it is. um Jaws versus Black Christmas somehow.

Speaker: I mean, which one did you think was going to win? Black Christmas or... I thought Nightmare on Elm Street was going to win. yeah It is going up against the biggest Jaws quote. and But right now, vs. Black Christmas, I think Jaws is going to blow that out of the water.

Speaker: Yeah. Get it? Yeah. um House on Haunted Hill... Versus Hellraiser, which that might be the Cinderella story.

Speaker: The matchup with two Cinderellas.

Speaker: Yeah. ah Yeah, kind of, yeah. Well, it was kind of in a weak little... yeah But it made it.

Speaker: Still doing, yeah. I mean, Hellraiser beat out Halloween. Hellraiser beat out Scream. Kind of impressive. Yeah. right. What is your guys, what do you think? and I think like both of you guys make a big, like a bold prediction. which What's our biggest upset?

Speaker: or Are there going to be any upsets next round? And um what's your lock? Like your 100% lock that you bet the whole house on?

Speaker: Well, define upsets. Are we talking like... Personal upsets. Get Out is Candyman is 15. I think Candyman is going to beat it. i mean, that's technically an upset, but I feel like Candyman is the stronger quote.

Speaker: Yeah. All right. All right. Julia, what do you got for the biggest upset? Or most shocking result of the next round?

Speaker: I don't really because I don't have the like... results in front of me and I don't remember. Like, I don't know what the matchups are. also still don't really know what an upset is.

Speaker: like something that you don't expect to happen. Like, that, like, people would be shocked at. Kind of like how we' we're shocked at, like, Hellraiser advancing. Um... Let me see.

Speaker: Hold on, I'm looking at the bracket. I don't know, I feel it i feel like everything... Everything's an upset. okay that's that's fair. like they're all We're at the point where all of them are very large and important quotes.

Speaker: I just feel like everything so far has been unexpected. like There are certain things that I voted for that one but I didn't expect it to. like i felt like i was I felt like I was doing a hot take, but it turns out it's not a hot take. It's like a wildly popular take.

Speaker: And that's the upset. Okay. thats That's fair. Does that make you better? Sorry, it is raining so hard and there's like a crazy storm outside. It's very distracting.

Speaker: Go ahead. Does that make you feel better that like people think like you?

Speaker: Yeah, I guess, because I'm used to having hot takes. So, you know, sometimes it's funny. Sometimes I feel like I definitely do it as a bit. Like, it is my honest opinion, but also it's it's fun to, like, shake things up with a hot take.

Speaker: But then sometimes it's a pleasant surprise when some of them, like, I can tell it's still a hot take, but there are people that share the hot take with me. And I appreciate that.

Speaker: Okay. All right, Enrique, what's your lock? Like... Jaws. Jaws? Okay, that's that's fair.

Speaker: My lock is... Okay, I'm going to say this. My lock is Jaws. My upset is Black Christmas. Alright, that's I would be genuine... Well, that's not my upset. Sorry.

Speaker: Let me rephrase that. That's the one I would be really shocked if that one won. Alright, Julia, what's your lock?

Speaker: I have no idea. Alright. Since you said Jaws, I'm not going to say Jaws. I'm going to say Candyman.

Speaker: No, because Candyman is going up against Jaws, right? No. Candyman is going up against Get Out. Oh, yeah. oh Candyman. 100%. I think Candyman is going to win by a massive margin.

Speaker: Okay. Alright, well... I'll update the

Speaker: i'll update the bracket. I'll send you the bracket. I'll upload this episode soon-ish. And we'll see who makes it to the final four. oh What happens when we get to the final winner?

Speaker: Do we have to watch that movie? We all have to We all have to say the quote in our best accent. oh and What if the person doesn't have an accent? Do we just make one up?

Speaker: Sure. Alright, sounds good. then um The final four should be interesting, so I'm kind of curious how that's going to go. Alright, I'll be working on my accents.

Speaker: Okay. good I've been working on my my British, like, cochini accent.

Speaker: I'll work on speaking normal, and that's more so an accent for me. actually took a class about this in college, so. All right, well, we'll see.

Speaker: We got time to practice, I guess. All right, any final thoughts? Nope. All right, cool.
