The year was 2024. The Grinch thought he stole this episode but he forgot that it’s 2024 and all technology is backed up on the cloud.

What’s your favorite winter movie? Does snow make movies cooler? If you were producing a Christmas special, who would you get to host? Is having a special on FX a wild thing to do? Did you see A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter? Did the special not use the guest to their full potential? Is Sabrina Carpenter & Chappell Roan beefing? Why Spongebob references? Did a middle aged man write this? Barry Keoghan… I don’t even know him! What does a brother-in-law look like? How long did you think it would be before Enrique said “I don’t know what a …. is”? Does Enrique know anything? Did this fall short? Is “I hate peppermint” a hot take? What’s your favorite holiday media? What are your thoughts on the NJ drones? Are they aliens or Google Maps? Would you trust somebody if they’re telling you about aliens if they have “facts”?

Happy New Years and we hope you enjoy!

Introduction: Holiday Extravaganza Preview

00:00:06
Speaker
Hi, cool. Hey, everybody. Welcome to another episode of What We Saw Last Night. I'm Pat, and I'm with Julia and Enrique. Today is our horrific holiday extravaganza. This episode will be giving you holiday recommendations on how to celebrate the holiday seasons as well as what to watch. We'll also be reviewing Sabrina Carpenter's holiday Christmas special, a nonsense Christmas, I think that's what it was called.
00:00:32
Speaker
and We're going to be talking about the drones that are terrorizing New Jersey. As always, we'll get into it with a warm up question.

Conceptualizing a Holiday Special

00:00:40
Speaker
If you guys were to produce a holiday special that would be aired on either network TV or a major streaming platform, who would you get to host and how would it go? Oh, like, um, this is a, uh, this is a curve ball. All right. If I were to get, uh,
00:01:03
Speaker
ah Probably USA I'll probably do USA USA or FX I I feel like FX plays a lot of bad Santa and I would want something more like bad Santa Who'd you get in it like who who's your host? Uh Let's see who's a fucking Who's a like a nice asshole Probably I'll probably get somebody like James Franco. I feel like he gives off a those kind of vibes. Okay, Julia, um who do you got? that is Those are some insane answers. I'm trying to recover from that. Well, that question came out of nowhere, so I wasn't ready for it. Yeah, I guess that's what makes it a warm up question. But I was gonna say I would make it like a horror themes, but I feel like
00:02:00
Speaker
And I have no idea, but I assume Shutter like already does this or like Bloody Disgusting or something has like a holiday special. I'm sure it exists. I know like Joe Bob Briggs does it, but I was going to say, I almost said Shutter exclusive, but that's, like I said, I'm sure they already have their own. So I feel like I can't do that. So I think I would make it like only available on 2B so that it's like, it's all to everyone.
00:02:29
Speaker
Okay. ah And Shutter does the, they do both the Boulay brothers and they do, um, the, uh, Joe Bob Riggs does something. So they, they do two things. Right. And I think I would host, well, I would have like all horror, like adjacent hosts and make it.
00:02:52
Speaker
I don't know, but that's also, wait, is it, does it have to be, it's musical also, right? Or not? I mean, you can have music in it. Traditionally, these things have music. Right. Um, I have a pitch for a horror one. What's your pitch? So, um, one, you have, um, ah David Daspoche.
00:03:16
Speaker
That was my answer. I mean, like um he's so good. But then I hesitated because I assume it it like it's so well-fitting that I assume that he's already done it. And that's why I hesitated to say it. I don't think he's done it yet. And he should do it. And like for musical guests, I would have like guar and ghost and like bring in some scream queens and have them do like some jingle bells.
00:03:44
Speaker
Like bring in like Felicia Rose and have them sing like some Christmas carols. I think they'd be a lot of fun. Yeah. That's, that's kind of like pretty much exactly what I was envisioning. I just, it seems like it should already exist.
00:04:04
Speaker
I don't know if it exists yet. Well, there you go. We just, I bet it'll come out next year. and we'll get zero credit for it. We will. And it'll be produced by someone who is like a guest on our show. We'll whatever. I was, I was also thinking of including in it, like podcast hosts. I was thinking specifically, I recently started listening to the dead meat podcast and I feel like that's something they would do is they would be featured in like a special like that. We've been watching them steal our idea. Yeah.
00:04:42
Speaker
All right. Next question.

Blind Ranking of Holiday Horror Movies

00:04:44
Speaker
We're going to blind rank some holiday horror movies. I'll give you a movie and you rank it one through five. Okay. ah First one, the watch. Wait is, I'm sorry. Is one the best or the worst? I do this every time. One's the best one.
00:05:05
Speaker
The lodge four.
00:05:12
Speaker
Um, the Gremlins. One. You just did the watch. It was one. Oh, I meant i meant five. Alright, um... Yeah, I'll go... I'll go three. Okay. Anna and the Apocalypse. I haven't seen it, so I'm gonna go four.
00:05:40
Speaker
Okay. It's on my list. I haven't seen it, so I'm going five. Enrique, you were the one that recommended it to me. You said that this movie is so good and you told me to watch it. Yes. Did I see it? Yes. Oh, shit. Last year, you were like, this is really good. You need to watch this. And I did. It's been a long year. um I'm still going five because I don't remember it. All right.
00:06:10
Speaker
ah Yeah, well you should watch because you you've missed you you were really hyped about it. Alright, so it's all my Christmas list. I'm a black Christmas. Oh, sorry, it's my turn. Yeah. I gotta go with two because one is already taken.
00:06:32
Speaker
oh What do I have so far? I got 453. I'll do two. Okay. And then finally a Christmas horror story. So you put that at one. Yeah, that would be my one. I've never even heard of that. So it's, I mean, it's gotta go at three, but I've never even heard of it. It's, it's a really fun watch. I recommend it. It's on, it's on Netflix. Is it? Yeah. I mean, I believe you. I just haven't seen it on there.
00:07:07
Speaker
Oh yeah, yeah no definitely check it out. I think all of these movies are pretty solid horror movies. Check them out guys. Yeah,

Review: Sabrina Carpenter's Christmas Special

00:07:17
Speaker
let's get into it. So we we did, um we all watched a nonsense Christmas with s Sabrina Carpenter, Netflix greening like this in the summer and they gave her a large budget. I couldn't find actual like, um,
00:07:33
Speaker
Quotes on the budget, but it it was like a sizable one. It had an all-star studded cast, including Tyler, Quinta Brunson, Sean Ashton, Chapel Run, Sonaya Twain, Nico Hagera, who's from the movie Sweethearts, and a bunch of others.
00:07:51
Speaker
The way that this movie, this came about was she's wanting to do this and she kept pitching into different execs and coming up with different skits. And eventually Netflix is like, all right, fine, we'll do it. And um yeah, it got 2.2 million views in the first week, which was kind of a flop, but the people who liked it like the people who saw it apparently really liked it. There's a lot of like positive trends um on socials and there's a strong demand for the soundtrack to be released on Spotify. um So yeah, what did you guys think about it? First of all, I think it makes a lot of sense that Sabrina like pitched to this many times because she's kind of been
00:08:36
Speaker
semi-famous like her entire life like she was a child star so she probably like for years was like let me do a Christmas special but this is kind of like her year where she's like popping off so now like people actually know who she is and she's not just like some kid that you would only know from the Disney Channel so Netflix finally let her have it um I also looked up and tried to find the budget for it and could not find it at all I don't know if that's like normal for Netflix, like Netflix originals. It is so apparently it's it's normal like eventually it will get released. It's just it's so soon. they I kept reading that it was like a big budget and they even reference it like in the special they had a huge budget for it but I'm like it's weird that you're saying that but you won't name the budget.
00:09:29
Speaker
Anyway, i I wanted to like this a lot. I really like the concept of it. I just feel like it missed the mark in a lot of ways, but I really, I liked like the aesthetic. I liked kind of like the setup for it, the skits. Some of the skits, like a few of them were like really, really funny, but overall it just like, I also think it was too short, honestly, for a holiday special.
00:09:57
Speaker
And I will also say that I did read that it kind of flopped when it first came out, but the thing is, this is like a Christmas special. And this is something that I personally would normally watch like Christmas Eve, Christmas day, or even like, this is something that you don't really watch until like December 20th. And as we're recording this now, it's the 12th. So like. Did they drop it too soon?
00:10:26
Speaker
Yeah, exactly because it they dropped it December 6th Who's who's watching this on December 6th this special? I think it's perfect to put on TV at Christmas party. I Just I just feel like that's Like I said, I didn't love it. It kind of missed the mark for me. I didn't think it was great It did kind of flop but I think they set themselves up because I Yeah, it's this isn't nobody's watching it right now, because why would you? It doesn't make any sense.
00:11:03
Speaker
I totally agree. like yeah They dropped it way too soon, whereas is like it should have been a little bit longer. And it's tough to say that, because I do think it also dropped, flopped, and was a little bit didn't meet expectations. like It should have been like longer and dropped the week before Christmas. Right. i And I'm interested to see like how it does in the coming weeks. But like right now, we're still 12 days out from Christmas as we're recording this. And it feels like too soon for me. I feel like this time of year, a lot of people are watching Christmas movies. But a Christmas special, it's not the same as a Christmas movie. A Christmas special, you really watch within days of Christmas, either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, pretty much. like
00:11:55
Speaker
You can watch Rudolph and like Frosty the Snowman and stuff right now. You can watch the Santa Claus, but you're not watching like a holiday dedicated special on Descent. I also want to throw out um um that is battra my Patrick, my other answer for the warm up question would have been Glen Powell to host. Oh, I like that. Just like someone.
00:12:23
Speaker
ah I would do him and Sydney Sweeney. Yeah, that would be so much fun. Yeah, he he gives off host energy. And he's just generally like a fuck like he the movie season generally like fun is charming. You want someone who people are gonna like and people do like s Sabrina Carpenter. Yeah, I think this special was like just under an hour. I think it was 50 minutes. And it really felt like I mean, when, when I got to the end of it, I was like, really it's over. Like that's it. I feel like a holiday special needs to be one hour minimum. So what did you guys think? Um, how did, how did you guys think of the songs? I thought some of the songs were really good. I think there was a few like original songs in it and I was surprised like when I was reading about it earlier and I know you already mentioned, um,
00:13:17
Speaker
They didn't put, they didn't make an album of this, which is strange. I assume they will in the future, but I don't know. You would think they would. So there's probably some legalities that are stopping it. I just feel like they really should have planned for this. They got like the biggest pop star of the moment to host a special with like a lot of original music.
00:13:43
Speaker
She ad-libbed most of it. like She made up, came up with it. But it's like they didn't they didn't expect people to want that. like People are going to want it. Yeah, no, you're right. And I forget where I was going.
00:14:00
Speaker
Anyway. What do you guys think of the celebrity appearances? um They started off with Tyler. I like her a lot. so And she's also a massive star in She's South African. Her album is like massive in parts that are not the US, but she's getting a lot of traction in the US.
00:14:24
Speaker
I think they had, the guests they had were good. A lot of them, I just wish their segments were longer. I wish they were in an extra skit or so. like I think Tyler only got a song. She wasn't really in a skit.
00:14:41
Speaker
Just in general, I feel like every part of this special, I wished it was longer, but also, the parts that were there weren't that great, so it's like, at the same time, I don't want it dragged out. I just wish that there were, like, better segments added in between. I'd be interested to see, like, if they cut a lot of stuff out of it. And I kind of assumed that they did.
00:15:09
Speaker
I love that they had Quinta Brunson in. I love Abbott Elementary. Yeah, I feel like she was also underutilized. Like you could barely, she was in like one skit. That skit was like, I would say out of the skits that were in the special, that one was like medium funny.
00:15:32
Speaker
I don't know. She just wasn't really featured. like you don't They weren't really utilizing the guests well. She was in it for like two seconds, had like a couple lines. You can't even really like notice her too much. like And she's arguably like the most famous person in the special. Yeah, she's like the hottest person in the special right now, like massive TV show. And it did. It fought it fell short. um And same with like chapel. like you bring in the second biggest like musician right now and she was in it for like 30 seconds I can only assume that they have beef like and I don't know that like but the only reason I'm like why would chapel room not be in it more and it's like because they're sworn enemies I think it's like I think it's just bad planning like whoever directed this did a terrible job
00:16:32
Speaker
honestly chapel grown is probably extremely busy being the other hottest pop star of today but but like she was on set for the whole thing so you have all these people on set for a full day and it seems like okay a question i have is how how real was this like was it actually filmed in front of a live audience or was it like faked to look like that i don't know um I would assume it was faked, but I do know that they filmed it, like they filmed it in a day's time. To me, it just felt so fake. And I don't, it's hard to explain like, or describe, like, I just wish it felt more like homemade. I wish it felt more like. Like a normal Christmas. Yeah. had Like live. In a studio audience. like Yeah. Like.
00:17:32
Speaker
And then like the, the Shania Twain bit was like nice, but like, I don't know. And it's like, they had bloopers, but it's like very obvious that they're like. Staged. Yeah. Staged bloopers. And it's like, just use real ones. And then if you don't have real ones, do something else. Like a lot of it, like the writing just wasn't funny. Unfortunately, like they, they hired really bad writers for this, unfortunately.
00:18:00
Speaker
I think s Sabrina Carpenter is capable of being really funny. She's a good actress. She's been an actress for like decades at this point. She has really good comedic timing. like Some of her jokes were very funny, but like they just didn't give her enough funny jokes to say, to like even utilize Sabrina Carpenter correctly in her own special. do Do you think they were trying too hard to appeal to like everyone? I absolutely do.
00:18:31
Speaker
because I was gonna say it's also very confusing as to who this is for because like immediately in the like first scene of the special they make like a Spongebob reference and I was like oh that's interesting and they also make a reference to like this obscure like Hilary Duff commercial like public service announcement from like the early 2000s and it's like Okay, this is very, very clearly made for like Sabrina's demographic, like 25 year old women, but then like, I don't know, like some of it's just like, it feels like s Sabrina Carpenter had her hands in this, but that it was like her and like a middle aged man and no one else trying to bridge that gap.
00:19:28
Speaker
I totally agree. Yeah, like something felt off and like either they had too many people in the room or not enough. Right. It just feels like like an old man wrote this and then they added like Spongebob references to it. And not even good ones. Right. Like.
00:19:51
Speaker
The part that I thought that absolute funniest, my favorite part is the part where she's dating Santa Claus. That whole skit was so funny to me. And especially- Oh, that- Oh, go ahead. I was gonna say, that was great. The the jokes, they kind they also threw some shade at on Barry Keogan. Yeah. Not that like I just like Barry Keogan, but that was just really funny. The way that they were like, you were expecting like Barry Keogan to come out and it was,
00:20:19
Speaker
yeah Santa. That was actually really funny. And I feel like this special dropped at like the perfect time. like Unfortunately, they just broke up. I mean, maybe that is fortunate. I don't know. But it just ended up being like good timing because you know you're expecting that. And it's like, oh, here's your new boyfriend. But that skit specifically, I felt like Sabrina's acting was really great. like i think Yeah. To like what her friends were saying. They're like, he's clearly Santa Claus. And she's like,
00:20:50
Speaker
what a fucked up thing to say and like her reactions and they're like the white beard and she's like, he did no shade November. That was so fun. Like those lines were so funny. It's almost like, I kind of wish they like went back and referenced that throughout the special, but it's just, anyway, that was the best scene. The other one I liked,
00:21:19
Speaker
was like the song where it's like, what do I get my brother in law for Christmas? That was pretty funny.
00:21:27
Speaker
That actually was, um, relatable for a lot of people. She's like listening off all of the Christmas present she's giving everyone. And then she's like, what the fuck do I buy my brother in law? Like, I don't even know this guy who's been married to my sister for 10 years, but like, I don't really know him like that. I liked that one. Um, the, uh,
00:21:49
Speaker
The guy who played the brother-in-law looked like a brother-in-law. He did. Like he wasn't, he didn't take away, like he wasn't like noteworthy. He was just like such an average looking person. It was perfect. Like what does a brother-in-law look like? Just curious. Like not noteworthy. Okay. Just a guy in a room.
00:22:15
Speaker
Yeah, like the most average guy in the room. Who would say that? Cause the guy looked like the exact opposite of what your brother-in-law looks like. Well, that's what I was kind of curious. Cause like I'm a brother-in-law. It's like, you only know what you're so confused right now. Cause you have a brother-in-law and he doesn't look like that. Yeah. So it's like, it's, it it is a little confusing cause he, um,
00:22:44
Speaker
demands attention in a crowd. So it's it's... And I guess you're the brother. Oh, there's okay. So I'm um'm the loser. I'm the loser that just happens to be in a room. um Okay. that That makes sense. now That actually does make sense. Yeah. Okay. So Julia, did you like any outfits or did any outfits particularly stand out? You know what?
00:23:09
Speaker
I liked a lot of them. None of them really stood out. I think I liked the her like Santa Claus fit like during the opening song. Her outfit during the dating Santa scene was good, but overall, I didn't really notice many of her outfits. oh Also in the opening, she wears um like a mar and one Marilyn Monroe reference dress. It's a reference to Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend. That was cool, but it's like, who's that for?
00:23:39
Speaker
It's for her. This is like a very random comment that will mean nothing to you. But s Sabrina Carpenter ah rarely dresses in her color palette and it can be frustrating. yeah Her hair and makeup are never in her color palette. I want to say I agree, but. She's like a soft summer, but is always giving like warm autumn.
00:24:10
Speaker
I get that. She needs to stick to cool tones. That's why she wears a lot of blue. But like her hair is a little too warm. And her makeup's like a little too bronzy for her for her color season. and that I get what you're saying. I haven't noticed. Just because I think I don't see a lot of s Sabrina Carpenter.
00:24:39
Speaker
I don't know how to not see things like that. That's true. And I'll be honest with you, I don't know what a Sabrina Carpenter is. I and you know what, I forgot to say it in the beginning when I was going to say, how long do we think it's going to be before you make that comment? Because I knew you were going to say those exact words. I don't know. The thing is, you guys always say the name like chapel Rome.
00:25:09
Speaker
And I have no clue what that is. Like, I don't know what any, I didn't know probably 90% of the people ever. Like, it just, I'm so out of tune with current reality. And it's not, you know, it's my fault, but like I'm so out of tune with current reality that I, I, if you showed me Florence Pugh and you showed me Sabrina Carpenter, I would not know who is who. They do look similar if that means anything to you. They have like a similar build and everything. Like very round face, blonde hair, and like like in you you should know Florence Pugh, you've seen her in enough things. Right, right, right. But like,
00:26:04
Speaker
I, the whole time, was thinking, when is this like Sabrina Carpenter character coming out? And the whole time, it was her. Well, that's the gift that keeps on giving. You learn something. Yeah. Yeah, overall, um I'm not a huge Sabrina Carpenter fan. I prefer Chapel Roan. But maybe Sabrina Carpenter is a little more like marketable.
00:26:31
Speaker
But then I guess not because this special flop on Netflix. She wanted to do this. She's very popular. She was going to do it. Yeah. And it is difficult because the one I guess criticism you see a lot for s Sabrina Carpenter is that like her music and her image are very like sexualized.
00:26:56
Speaker
which is fine because she's a 25 year old woman but she's also like a former Disney Channel star so it's that you know we get the same old story of a lot of young children are fans of her but she makes like very adult content and it's like that's fine like people have criticized her for like doing sexual things at her concerts and it's like she's an adult the music is adults don't bring your kids if you don't want them to see you but at the same time like kids are fans of her like like nine-year-old girls love Sabrina Carpenter it just is what it is so it's like again who's this special for I don't really know and I just feel like it wasn't funny enough to be good for anyone because
00:27:49
Speaker
I don't know, a lot of parents watch let their kids watch whatever. I was allowed to watch whatever, so like if I was a young girl and a fan of Sabrina Carpenter, I would watch this, but I just wish it was like a lot funnier, like get like a good comedian to write the jokes. Yeah, it fell short, but it was there. That's all I could. Like I said, she has really great comedic timing. I wish this was
00:28:19
Speaker
I wish it made me laugh because I feel like that's what it wanted to be. It wanted to be a comedy special, but like there was no point throughout it where I was laughing. There were just points where I was like, Oh, that's funny.

Transition to Holiday Recommendations

00:28:32
Speaker
Yeah. Let's move on to some holiday recommendations. We've talked enough about Sabrina Carpenter, um, streamer music. If you like her, if you haven't listened to her, listen to some of her songs, I guess, I don't know, but let's move in holiday recommendations.
00:28:47
Speaker
First, let's start off with food. What are the top fruits for y'all to eat in the holiday season? Oh, damn. I did not think of this. I feel like desserts of any kind. Yeah, it's ah it's a sweet kind of thing. Do you go peppermint? I hot take. Get ready for it. I hate anything peppermint.
00:29:19
Speaker
That's not that hot man, I just You know don't Don't start a witch hunt, but I don't enjoy eating toothpaste like so many people so I'll just leave it at that You can yeah your chocolate chip toothpaste to yourselves if I could hate pepper it's it's such a terror like Ruiner of things but it is like the holiday um Center Taste the thing is I like mint like I enjoy mints and mint gum and things like that, but I feel like mint Is always associated with like a lot of things you're not really supposed to eat or swallow like mouthwash like mint is almost like the flavor that they make things and
00:30:11
Speaker
so that you'll know it's poison and not to swallow it. And it's like, why would I want to eat that with like chocolate mixed in? Fair.
00:30:21
Speaker
i That's my holiday. I agree with Enrique. It is a sweets-based holiday. It doesn't have to be a peppermint-based holiday. But it can be. It can be. And that's that's perfectly fine. I went to Longwood Gardens yesterday, and they had a room filled with peppermint. And it was a lot.
00:30:41
Speaker
Peppermint what? Like the plant? Yes. Oh, that makes sense. At first I envisioned like peppermint candies, but then I realized longwood gardens, it was probably like actual plants. That makes a lot more sense. Yeah. And Peppermint Patty loves Charlie Brown. And if she does yeah and I always feel like that's that's a good thing to keep in mind when you guys are thinking of Mint and how much you hate Mint. Think of how much she loves Charlie Brown.
00:31:10
Speaker
And Charlie Brown deserves the love. Yeah, of course. All right, speaking of Peppermint, Patty, Christmas specials. What are your top Christmas specials? Christmas specials? Hold on. So I don't know Christmas. like you You mean like shows, like specials, like? A show. Oh, OK, OK, OK. I thought you meant like a TV, live TV. um and I mean, if you have one, there are one. like so boba said i I don't, I've never was into Christmas growing up. I always thought it was like a waste of time. I just recently started getting into Christmas, but I do have movies that somehow, some way fall into the Christmas um category.
00:32:04
Speaker
I guess I'll say it. We're going to get into the the movies in a minute, but do you have any shows? um I do. I do like Bob's burger. Oh, yeah. i I do. I do like Bob's burgers during the Thanksgiving. They had Thanksgiving and Christmas specials on there. So a candy cane one. Yeah. And and and when when um ah Linda loses the treat and it gets her hands stuck and yeah, it's like I'd rather have my hand chopped off than lose this tree. So I like that. And um
00:32:41
Speaker
I like perfect. They are. They really are. And I always loved all of the psych holiday specials because they they're they base it off of movies. They're like parodies of movies. There's one of like Black of Bad Santa um that I really like. So I guess I would have to if if I had to pick a show to watch a Christmas special on, it would probably be one of those two. OK.
00:33:10
Speaker
I feel like every year I want to watch a new Christmas special. That's probably why I watched the Sabrina Carpenter one because I feel like if so if there's any like shows coming out with like a new holiday episode um I'm always interested to watch that any a given year but other than that I really just watch like the same they're called specials but I don't know if you consider it like the same kind of holiday special but like <unk>ph the headno man year and even how sco These are like my favorite two I would say they do they counted they might be movies. No, I think Rudolph is a show I think we'll kind of we'll count this They call it a special but I don't but In this case, we'll call it special. Yeah, they call it that but I know it's not like the same one We're really talking about but they're also like under an hour. So yeah thirty minutes or something but
00:34:05
Speaker
And I think it's classified as a TV movie. All right, look at them. They are classic, like all of the ranking bass. You can't go wrong. Yeah. Um, I have all 18 of them on DVD. If anyone wants to arm them. Did you find them? Actually, no, they're still missing. Oh, okay. Last year we watched most of them, or did we watch all of them? Yeah, we watched most of them last year.
00:34:35
Speaker
That was great. But now it's like a holiday tradition that my DVD box set goes missing every year because last year I remember specifically we had to stream them all even though I had them on DVD. another miss like ah have ah I had a lot of fun doing that and and it was a lot of fun doing so I'm glad that we did that.
00:34:59
Speaker
But yeah, other than holiday specials, i want to like I feel like a live studio audience audience style special that's like made that year is always like good to watch. Any thoughts on the, um yeah I would say, the Charlie Brown? I love it. The Last Christmas Tree. I'm not that familiar with it. Yeah, I think Charlie Brown's.
00:35:25
Speaker
i think all I remember the great pumpkin. I remember Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving. um pick I know that what the Charlie Brown Christmas tree looks like, but I don't remember anything from the Christmas special aside from the tree. You know, I've watched it and it is, I forgot how good it is. I also love that like he's just super depressed and his therapist is like, who also is his friend is like, look, we're going to help you out. And it's wholesome. It's funny.
00:35:58
Speaker
Charlie Brown's a really fucking sad kid. I think that's why I liked him a lot when I was growing up.
00:36:06
Speaker
I was in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, the musical 10 years ago. It's a good musical. It is. He is a good man. He is. All right. Let's get into it. Holiday movies. Well, what are the tops that you guys want to watch?
00:36:26
Speaker
um And if you wanna break him into like old school and modern, feel free to. Okay. I think, go ahead, go I'm sorry, go ahead. Okay. This is a movie that I've never sat down and like truly, truly watched, but I know that it's so good and I hear so many great things about it. I really need to sit down and watch The Muppet's Christmas Carol. Like I've seen it, but I haven't seen it. Julia, you should go to jail.
00:36:56
Speaker
That's what um I'm saying though, I'm gonna watch it. Like I've seen it, but I haven't seen it. know I'm gonna watch it, I'm telling you right now. That's why it's on my list.
00:37:10
Speaker
it's also It's also, they're performing live at the Forest Theater of the Muppets. It was on at a party that I went to on Sunday. And I will say that like the three ghosts are terrifying.
00:37:25
Speaker
Everything about it is great. You should watch it. What else do you got? This is a joke and also it might count more under the specials category, but as a joke I was gonna say the Folgers incest commercial That aired at Christmas time Say it again Yeah, I was gonna say like is the joke like you being silent I I'm just gonna skip to the next one. On my list, I have a lot of like, not Christmas movies, but like, Christmas energy, so I have Little Women 1994 because I feel like that has Christmas energy. But then because I put that on my list, I thought of The Crucible from 1996, which also has Winona Ryder in it, and I feel like
00:38:21
Speaker
I don't know, it just had similar ener energy so I added that to the list and that is not Christmas vibes at all. I just think it's funny because the other day i um the Crucible was on and I watched it for like three minutes thinking that it was little women because I saw Winona Ryder in like old timey clothing. And then I like thought about it for like two seconds when I was like, this is not little women, this is the Crucible.
00:38:49
Speaker
yeah oh Batman Returns, classic Christmas movie.
00:38:59
Speaker
Rent another holiday classic. We're doing a lot of like Broadway and musical themed ones, I guess. The Lodge, winter classic. If you're talking about The Lodge, you might as well say The Shining while you're at it.
00:39:19
Speaker
Well, no, no, because the lodge takes place over Christmas break. Yeah, but since I'm kind of throwing in like winter movies, like it just made me think of The Shining. So like, because The Shining takes place over Christmas. Yeah, but it takes place from like Thanksgiving to Christmas or to... I have this disease where like I have to recommend movies in double feature form. All right.
00:39:45
Speaker
So like, if I'm recommending that someone watch The Lodge, I recommend that they watch it with The Shining. Like, I'm physically incapable of selecting one film at a time. But I think the last one on my list, I'll give you a hint, starring Nicolas Cage. It's another holiday classic. Do you want to guess what it is? Family Man? Yes. Christmas classic.

Exploring Classic and Contemporary Holiday Films

00:40:11
Speaker
Yeah, um that's on my list.
00:40:14
Speaker
i Basically a remake of it's a wonderful life just starring Nicolas Cage.
00:40:22
Speaker
I Love it. I I just rewatched it recently Such a great such a great one. I honestly haven't watched it recently But this is kind of like my personal watch list for this year a lot of these I haven't seen in a while But like this is what I'm gonna be watching this Christmas All right, okay, what do you got?
00:40:42
Speaker
So I kind of categorized them. I don't know how you want them. Go for it. Start from the top. All right, so Nightmare Before Christmas, obviously,
00:40:55
Speaker
so how the Grinch stole Christmas. Gotta love it. Which one? um It doesn't, man. The Jim Carrey one, and more more specifically. OK. And a Charlie Brown Christmas, right?
00:41:12
Speaker
Those are so the first group of three. um Jingle All The Way, great classic. Yes. Can't go wrong with that. Home Alone and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which it was one of like three VHSs we had that I would watch over and over and over and over.
00:41:35
Speaker
um The next one, Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. Serendipity with John Cusack and Family Man with Nicolas Cage. And the reason I just mentioned the male leads and not the female leads is because if you put all three of them together, you'll have probably a really bad but really good Christmas movie. I feel like those three guys
00:42:06
Speaker
Together we'll give you like a cheesy maybe not so interesting Christmas movie, but it would be great and My last one is you watch this basically at the end of the night ah Bad Santa fucking fantastic movie. It's actually a It's actually really sad. that Bad Santa is actually ah one of those movies that, like, the older you get you, it's not like just funny. It's actually really fucking sad. Friday After Next, which I completely forgot that was a Christmas movie. It is. Yeah, I know. And Violent Night. Great Christmas movie made me believe that's Bad Santa again. It it is.
00:42:56
Speaker
um That's a good list. I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm taking the ones that I'm going to try to take the ones off my list that you say, because we have so much overlap. Um, instead of jingle all the way, or jingle the way I would put, um, what I'll be home for Christmas, the Jonathan Taylor Thomas movie, where it's, they give us 16 year old, like a Porsche. If he comes home for Christmas and on his ju's journey of hitchhiking across America, he discovers the true meaning of Christmas. It's so stupid. It's so funny. I like a lot of classicals, like it's a wonderful life. And I think that i don't want to say Christmas Carol, because I have a Christmas Carol related question. So like any like old timey, like black and white Christmas movie, I'm kind of a sucker for. I love a Hallmark movie. So like and it doesn't matter which one, because they're all the same.
00:43:56
Speaker
So like any Hallmark movie, I think people should watch at least one. um This year they came out with Hot Frosty on Netflix. It follows the formula. It's great. So I'll say like Hot Frosty or a true Hallmark movie. Got to do a Vince Vaughn movie. So either Fred Claus or Four Christmases. They're not good. They're just a lot of fun. In my mind, I can't comprehend that those are two different movies.
00:44:26
Speaker
The thing is I watch them back to back and they're very different. He's because one Lindsay Lohan, it's like the Vince Vaughn holiday, you know cinematic universe. Yeah. And it's a blast, but you only need to see one a year. Um, I want to throw, I want to throw the holdovers in there. I really liked that movie a lot. Um, it was really good.
00:44:53
Speaker
Yeah, there's ah the the one thing too i I like about Christmas movies, and I was doing something, sorry, I was doing something the beginning of the month, but I got so fucking burnt out, but I was trying to watch every single like cheesy um holiday movie, like Christmas movie, and I was just trying to
00:45:23
Speaker
figure some things out, because I had a just a fucking, it was a rabbit hole of curiosity. um But I noticed there's a lot of Christmas movies that I don't put on, because I'm like, oh, it's Christmas. I don't care. But there's a lot of new ones that were good. um There was one with Christina Milian that I forget what it was. That was like, meet me at Christmas or meet me on Christmas. Did you see that? Yeah, of course.
00:45:53
Speaker
Okay, so um I thought that movie was really good. I thought it was like really good as like a movie and also as like a rom-com. I was like, wow, this completely threw me off. Cause this movie was like genuinely good. Like if if it wasn't about Christmas, it would have still been like a good movie. And I started to realize, although a lot of these movies are literally the same exact movie,
00:46:24
Speaker
I got to agree with Pat, those Hallmark movies, ah they're fucking cheesy and kind of bad, but I mean- They had moments where they're just perfect. Yeah. i saw the I saw a lot of like the newer ones that Netflix had. um i have Actually, I have a Christmas list and I won't take too long, but I'm just going to name like, ah of what is it? of of Merry Scottish Christmas.
00:46:50
Speaker
um Fucking, I don't understand it what that was about. ah Let me see what, oh, haul out the holly, haul out the holly too. um Hot Frosty. I thought she was great. It's the same actress. She's in like a thousand ah ah Christmas movies. I don't know what the equivalent,
00:47:17
Speaker
of a Scream Queen is for Christmas, but that's that that's who she is. she She came a long way from a mean girl, a very long way. like It's impressive to see all the movies she has and then be like, holy shit, it's the same fucking movie. But I literally sat through each one of them. Crazy, unhinged of me.
00:47:44
Speaker
I also have on on my list, Edward Scissorhands. I'm counting it as a Christmas movie. Yeah, I guess we can. I also do want to say, if if you happen to be listening to this, I really highly recommend you go back and listen to our holiday recommendations from last year because I'm specifically leaving out a ton of stuff because I mentioned, I know I mentioned it last year. So if you listen to the holiday episode from last year, those are probably like my actual favorite Christmas movies of all time. Like the top, like best Christmas movies and like all just Christmas recommendations. I just didn't want to like mention the same stuff twice. yeah So I specifically left out most of the stuff I mentioned in that episode. So that's fair.
00:48:39
Speaker
Right now I'm more so concentrating on stuff that like I plan on watching and doing this year. What did you guys like? And this is just like a dumb question, a side question. Did you guys like the, uh, uh, what was the Tim Santa Claus? Yeah, the Santa Claus. I don't like him at all. So I don't, I don't like him as the person and I don't like the Santa Claus.
00:49:06
Speaker
For some reason, I've always had a grudge against that movie. And anytime it was on TV, I always skipped it for some reason. Like I would, I would never watch it. Like, I guess I just looked dumb. So I never. A lot of like my friends and people that I know don't like that movie and I've never liked it. and I have seen it. I have seen it. And oh yeah I just,
00:49:34
Speaker
i fucking think that movie sucks and I don't know if it's because I hate him or just because it really does suck but Fucking and there's like 10 of them and there's so many of them Yeah um Not a lot of people saw it. but I saw a red one and it was a lot of fun It's true. I think if it's streaming for free, I recommend people check it out. Yeah, I think it's streaming already I'm gonna because I I saw it recently. It's like stream now and I was like, Oh cool. I'm going to watch that this weekend. If it's up for free, watch it. Um, and so here's with my question for you guys. So this, this Christmas, um, holiday season, I'm trying to do a hundred versions of, um, a Christmas Carol. And, um, I want to know what are some of your favorite renditions?
00:50:29
Speaker
Definitely the mr. Magoo Animated Christmas Carol. That's the one that I grew up with and I think it was a fever dream because I've never met another person who's seen it in real life I'm gonna save the one that we did at work Yeah, I Mean talk about range We did show a lot of range in there and it's like fine man that's that's why I'm doing it so there's a lot of them that range from like five minutes to an hour. So this, this goal is very achievable. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Definitely. Yeah. I do want to watch several renditions of the Christmas Carol this year, because I have a theory that Scrooge is actually the villain the entire time and remains the villain. Wait, no, I feel like I lied. My theory is that he was never the villain. I don't know. It depends on the version.
00:51:28
Speaker
He's not like a great guy. And I don't think he's a great guy in the end. He's also not a bad guy. There's a lot to be said. So like Bob Cratchit, yeah, he should do some personal responsibility because he technically makes a living wage, but not a living wage for a person with um like six kids. um So there's that he was underpaid, but slightly underpaid for the time. Um,
00:51:57
Speaker
Yeah, but who the fuck is it? It comes down to that. Scrooge is like a cheapskate who does rip off a lot of people. He's like hey he's a shady businessman. He's not like a good person, um but he's doing what most people do like when when you get rich. That's what you do. You screw people over. like
00:52:23
Speaker
He, he's, he has the equivalent to like billions of dollars or now, and he pays his one employee like $40,000 is the equivalent. So take it for what it is. Yeah. They didn't have healthcare or anything. So he doesn't need to pay him benefits. So whatever. And then he didn't, they didn't worked 60 hours a week, but Scrooge wanted Marley to work more, or not Marley, um, Cratchit to work more. I don't, I don't think he was a bad guy. There's a lot of like little differences between the variations. Like some, he has a, he like had a wife or a girlfriend or love interest. Other ones he didn't.
00:53:15
Speaker
That's the biggest one from, from rendition to rendition. Also the thing, like the the animal that they eat in the original, it's a pheasant, I think. But in some, some of them it's a turkey and some of them it's a goose. I don't believe in like changing the animal. I feel like it's like dumbing it down for kids who like don't know what a pheasant is. And it's like,
00:53:42
Speaker
they'll be okay. You don't have to change it to a turkey or a goose. Like kids can just figure out what a pheasant is, give them a dictionary. I think it also like it was like the size, like it's just a big, they they get the biggest thing in the butcher shop. That's, that's all they need to know. Yeah. Like it's, it's also just a bird. Yeah. They eat a bird on Christmas. Good for them. Um, one of the funnier things, uh, I did notice was, um,
00:54:13
Speaker
The Tiny Tim's injury, it is pretty consistent. and He is like death, but a lot of like, if you, I started paying attention to like, what, what he like, in something like can't walk and something he's like hobbling around with like a makeshift crutch. And it's always funny to see this little injured kid. Yeah. He just plays like a little freak in every, in every version. And we love him. Yeah. In some versions.
00:54:38
Speaker
They take it like very seriously and then others are tongue in cheek. My biggest takeaway is that the christmas one the Mickey Mouse one is really poorly casted. I feel like like they did good with Scrooge McDuck and Donald being the nephew. But outside of that, the whole thing's a mess. I just feel like it's hilarious to refer to it as like casting when it's literally like goofy and Mickey and Pluto.
00:55:04
Speaker
yeah Yeah, and Goofy goofy is is Jacob Marley, and he would never be Jacob Marley. Yeah, I have to agree with you there. Yeah, no, and then like go go back, on well, don't go back and watch it, because it's not like not a good one. The christmas like perfect casting is The Muppets. That is a perfectly cast movie. Yeah, I saw that with Brian. He fucking loves them. i Yeah, let's move into Holiday Horror, we talked a lot about it, but what are some of your favorite? Enrique, me and you, I know like we've watched a lot together.

Favorite Holiday Horror Films

00:55:43
Speaker
And um Julia, I know that sometimes you don't love Holiday Horror, but you do like horror movies, so go for it. Well, I honestly have to say Black Christmas and The Lodge. Those are like two of my favorite movies in general. Black Christmas definitely is like one of my all-time favorite movies, the original.
00:56:04
Speaker
um The original is perfect. Yeah, it it truly is. And I, I could, I always say like, if I ever taught a film class, I would have like a whole thing ah about just on black Christmas. I could write like an essay on it.
00:56:22
Speaker
Like none of the slashers we have today would exist without black Christmas. Agreed.
00:56:36
Speaker
I am going to bring up two movies that I'm claiming are Christmas movies, even though they're not technically Christmas movies. But I don't care, because that's what just what I do. Werewolves Within, I'm officially declaring that a Christmas movie because it takes place in a snowstorm. All right. And No Exit.
00:57:05
Speaker
Oh, actually no exit might be because they might have had Christmas lights up. So those are my two two movies that I'm officially declaring as Christmas movies. All right. I was, i I really liked Christmas, Bloody Christmas. Yeah. I have that. I have, um, Santa's sleigh. Oh God, I love that movie so much. And, and there was another one.
00:57:34
Speaker
what was the one with the they were like outside the police station and it doesn't matter but there's a lot of good ones on shutter if you go on shutter i don't know if this counts but violent night oh yeah yeah violent night i don't know if it's horror it's more like it's thriller it count but i really enjoyed that we saw it when it came out Yeah, that's a great, I think that's a great, we'll call it Christmas horror movie. You know, the sacrifice game by our friend, John Wexler. I really enjoyed that. Yeah, that's on my list also. And I put the holdovers, but not as like a Christmas horror, but when I, when i like, because those two, we talked about how like, similar they are. Yeah. Not like that they're the same movie, but like, ah you know, a school, the snow and
00:58:31
Speaker
Yeah, I would say that one's more of a psychological thriller. It is going to be interesting to see when, when and everything like settles down and people have the availability to like, if people are going to end up watching Terrifier 3 around the holidays. Oh yeah. I would, if I was with someone and they wanted to watch Terrifier 3, I would watch it with them. I wouldn't put it on by myself.
00:58:59
Speaker
But I would put it on and like leave the room because I want to support everyone that worked on that movie. Like, like, I like Art the Clown so much. He's a silly guy. And when, in some of the scenes, like when he like sees Santa and goes like like, it's really funny. But yeah, I don't want to watch the whole thing. So if someone wanted to watch it and it was like, he was I'm not against it. I would watch it. I would probably add it to this list.
00:59:29
Speaker
especially if you're talking horror because there's so you could say some are psychological, you could say more some are this, some are that. You cannot say anything else about Terrifier 3 other than it's like, it is horror, it's a slasher. Like there is no nothing you know else. So like, yeah, I would add that to the list. Perfect.
00:59:55
Speaker
um I want to throw a side note just maybe acknowledging that this year we had two New Year's Eve horror movies with Y2K and I'm going to throw the substance in as a New Year's Eve horror movie because of they place on the New Year's holiday and and the whole like New Year's Eve special definitely.
01:00:21
Speaker
yeah So just a side note, and I think that's really cool because we don't get a lot of New Year's Eve power. um
01:00:31
Speaker
Yeah, so that that kind of wraps up. Does anyone else have any holiday recommendations what people should watch? on I didn't mention it because I'm pretty sure I mentioned it last year, but I will be watching Emmett Autor's Jug Band Christmas, which would go well as a double feature probably with the Muppets Christmas Carol.
01:00:54
Speaker
So I'll probably watch like on Christmas or like at my Christmas party. That's what I personally will be watching is a double feature of those two. Okay. Also- I will say- Oh, on Christmas day Nosferatu is out. So if I can, I will be going to see that on Christmas day. I know. i'm I'm thinking of seeing it late night Christmas day or going Black Friday or um Boxing Day after work. Yeah, I'd like to see it on a Christmas Day. It's also, I feel like it's discrimination that we have to work Boxing Day. Yeah. As an English person, I personally personally am offended. And as somebody who knows white people, I'm offended myself. Thank you for your solidarity. Yeah. i'm i'm
01:01:52
Speaker
ah trying to show empathy. I do have something to say though. um You had a icebreaker on here that I took a lot of time into, so bear with me for like two minutes. You asked, Santa asked you to put together a movie marathon for the days after christmas for the day after Christmas when he's just laying in bed and tired. um He wants to watch something. How did I say that? It's on the thing. It's it's literally on the thing.
01:02:23
Speaker
Oh shit. I bet this, you know what? I forgot that my bad. Go. But, but, but, so I put together for Santa. So saying, if you're listening, I put together a movie marathon. That's 23 minutes and 28 seconds, which leaves him 32 minutes in between to kind of do his thing. You know, you go to the bathroom, get something to eat, feed, feed the reindeer, or whatever. All right. I'll be quick. Freeway and fear.
01:02:52
Speaker
Two Reese Witherspoon movies. These are all double features too. Shout out to Julia's obsession with double features. Freeway and fear with a total of three hours and 27 minutes between both of them. Cruel intentions and wild things. That is three hours and 32 minutes total between both of them. Point break and speed, three hours, 58 minutes total.
01:03:21
Speaker
Rush hour one, rush hour two, three hours, eight minutes total. The Net, an enemy of the state, four hours and 14 minutes total. Gladiator, one. And Troy, five hours, 18 minutes total. If, Santa, if you watch all of these movies and only give yourself 32 minutes, wherever,
01:03:49
Speaker
you can knock it out in 24 hours. Nice. I'm impressed with that. um That's actually a really good list. they The thing is, they're all great double features. I mean, Freeway and Cyr are like the first Reese Witherspoon movies. And in Freeway, she's just like like this like wild, skanky girl. But it's like, she's also like, I'll take any shit.
01:04:19
Speaker
Fear is just like Marky Mark's just a piece of shit, you know? um But they go together. Cruel intentions, wild things. they like all Obviously Rush Hour 1, Rush Hour 2 go together. ah All of these movies have... like that All of them, you have to watch them with double feature. I think Santa would be happy. He'll laugh a little. He'll gasp a little. um He'll probably want to fight a little, you know?
01:04:49
Speaker
I love that. Um, next year I'm pitching that we do a, um, Krampus, um, movie watching thing where we, we really indulge in the world of Krampus. Yeah. Cool me. Cool. Let's wrap it up, Julia. So, um, I asked you, I mean, well, you, so like New Jersey's been being, getting like bombarded with drones.

Mystery of New Jersey Drones

01:05:16
Speaker
Um,
01:05:18
Speaker
Feel free to catch us up to speed on what's been going on. I trust you. Yeah, so I do you have a little bit of notes on this. um I'll skip to like the real answer is, honestly, at this point, no one has any clue what they are. like still Some stuff has come out and then been debunked, but like as of where we are right now,
01:05:43
Speaker
people have been seeing, and apparently the sightings go back to like mid-November, and I saw claims that they were like bike-sized, I saw claims that they're car-sized, drones in the sky with like various colors of lights. People still know, and this is, the sightings are all over New Jersey specifically. um I personally have not seen these drones myself in person, and the reason for that is because I have a job and I have responsibilities that require me to be inside. But for people who are chilling outside in like November, December, at nighttime for whatever reason, they have been seeing a shit ton of stuff popping off in the sky. Just like big ass drones up there. About a week ago, this New Jersey representative came out and was like,
01:06:36
Speaker
Oh, it's an Iranian mothership off the coast of New Jersey. Like my mom sent me an article about that because we had been talking about it and at the time no one knew what it was. And then my mom texted me and they were like, oh, it's an Iranian ship. But then it turns out that guy is just crazy and he was literally just like saying that, like making shit up. Um, and I also, when you Google this, the first article that pops up, the headline says,
01:07:05
Speaker
Pentagon shoots down Iran mothership claim amid New Jersey drone mystery. Now, when you see that headline in the first half, it says Pentagon shoots down. And I'm like, oh shit, they shot down the drones. But um reading comprehension is dead, but also so is journalistic integrity. like They knew what they were doing by writing that headline and like misleading people.
01:07:35
Speaker
that's definitely like clickbait but they didn't shoot down any Iranian mothership because there is no Iranian mothership that was just that like turns out that New Jersey representative is just crazy.
01:07:52
Speaker
Some of the theories have been that it's like government surveillance just basic because people are saying like If the government truly did not know what it was, they would have shot it down by now, which is fair. I think they're flying like in controlled airspace and they're also drones above a certain size. I think it's like 55 pounds have to be registered and have to have like ID and they're not registered as far as we know. Um, like every single government entity has come out and said, we have no clue what it is.

the governor, Phil Murphy came out and was like, I have no idea what they are, but also do not be afraid. So a lot of people are saying like, it's just the government or it's the military. If it wasn't the government or the military, they would have taken them out by now. The other theory I saw is that it's just like mapping. Like, there's like, it's called lie LiDAR mapping, where they like, just send signals to the earth to kind of like,
01:08:56
Speaker
digitally like graph I'm not good at explaining things and like technology and science, but you know what I mean? They're just like scanning the distance from like the sky to the ground to create like a 3d map And people speculate it could be like Google Earth doing it or just like Whoever that wants like a 3d map of New Jersey Like I said, I read into this this morning and i was doing some research and basically no one has any idea what they are basically there's people have theories but as of right now there's no clear answer i guess like this has been like a hot topic of conversation with a bunch of people around the wawa that i go to and the bus stop that i stand at so i ask people what they think about it and i have a few quotes
01:09:55
Speaker
i'm One, um I'm gonna not say their name because I don't want people to insinuate things one way or another. She said, um I don't like it, I don't trust it. Good thing I don't know anybody in New Jersey because I would be worried about them. I think it's the government trying to spy on us. And she thinks that it's also tied to Elon Musk or another big like Elon Musk or Zuckerberg And um she also went on to say that she would try to shoot them down if she could, even if that meant firing into an open crowd. So take that for that. I did see at least one person say that it's like a false flag to distract people from certain other things that are happening in the news right now. I can say it. I talked to one guy
01:10:56
Speaker
His name was Rabbit, and Rabbit said that it's most likely aliens. Aliens are in the ocean, not in the sky, and we have to fear them. There's SUV things flying around New Jersey, and everyone's acting normal. He thinks it's aliens, and aliens are basically going to overtake the US. I can see that. but I feel like my toxic trait is that I don't believe in aliens at all.
01:11:27
Speaker
People think I'm crazy for this, but like I just have a hard time like thinking of aliens.
01:11:35
Speaker
Don't get me wrong, I think there's life on other planets, but I don't think that they're beings like us and I don't think they have like spacecraft. I'm also like well out of my conspiracy theorist phase. so like I just don't know, like, I don't really get excited about stuff like this. I'm like, yeah, they're drones. We don't know what the fuck they are. But I'm like, who cares? Clearly somebody made them. And it's, in my opinion, definitely not alien related. So like, rabbit's a very paranoid person. I encountered this person a lot. um And he's, he is very into conspiracy theories. And he has this little like,
01:12:19
Speaker
ammunition hole and he's ready for war if he needs to be. I try not to laugh like because like, when I'm talking to him, because like, I'm just like, Hey, what do you think about these like, these drones? And he's like, they're fucking aliens are coming out of the water. They're the size of cars. And like, I didn't hear that before, like, that they're that big. So like, I'm just picturing like a Jetson mobile flying around.
01:12:47
Speaker
yeah like and I do think it's pretty interesting that they're so large like I have heard they're like car size like I said I haven't seen them I also like my thing is I'm not very smart and I don't know what like any aircraft looks like if I'm being completely honest with you any anything I see in the sky I'm like what the fuck is that because I don't really know what airplanes look like at night I don't pay attention so like At this point, anything I see in the sky, I just assume it's a normal ass airplane because whether it was or not, I don't really know what I'm looking at. So I'm not gonna assume that it's aliens when like, I don't know, like when I was a teenager, I was like, oh my God, look, it's like a spacecraft. And someone was like, that's an airplane, you idiot. And ever since then, I'm just like, it's probably an airplane and I just don't know what I'm looking at. Right, yeah, like,
01:13:45
Speaker
ah I don't know well enough to like say one thing or another. I think it's an aircraft. The people that I've talked to, they think it's either a tech firm, like they think it's either US s based or China or Russia spying on us. I'm only one ah yeah so only one person definitively said that it was aliens. I don't think it's aliens. I mean, it's, uh,
01:14:15
Speaker
fucking drone um I don't I don't want you to think though that I don't believe that it possibly could be aliens cuz he's not that far off as far as I'm concerned but these are probably just drones the the problem the the biggest problem we have is ah Social media is just fucking stupid and we get so we get so like fucking sucked into literally everything and It's really hard to face the reality of stuff the reality of stuff being that like there probably wasn't that many there probably weren't that big I mean I can see it being
01:15:06
Speaker
Google maps, I can see it being some kind of weather ah tracker kind of thing. I can see it probably happened in fucking a shit hole, Iowa. And, you know, they just are just like, ah, who gives a fuck, you know? So I think a little bit is is is that where it's just like, it's fun to just kind of get on social media and talk about it. And it's fun to get on social media and read about it. But if somebody came up to me, hypothetically speaking, if somebody came up to me and gave me this long, elaborate, like just detailed reason why it could possibly be aliens, I would never tell them like, go fuck off. Because at the end of the day, I'm still
01:16:05
Speaker
curious. so I'm not saying it is, but like if this rabbit guy came up to me and was like, look man, check this out. I'm about to talk to you for a whole fucking hour, 60 minutes, no more, no less, and give you like all the details in the world, I'll listen for that hour. you know like That's what I did. I wasn't like i I went up to him like we were talking and I was like, what do you think of this? And I just let him go. And I I've I'm not telling him one thing or another because I don't want to be rude to him. But like i let it. here No, no. And I didn't mean it. I didn't mean it like that. But I meant it more so like I know it's probably something else. But if somebody came up to me to say it, I'd listen and I'd be curious. Like if you gave me
01:16:58
Speaker
And I say the word facts, but like anybody, you could believe anything. Like people believe in, like Christians believe in the Bible and that's a fact to them, you know? So like, as far as I'm concerned, if that's a fact to you, that's a fact to you, you know? And if this guy came up to me or any, anybody, anybody in general came up to me and said, hey, look, man, I got the whole fucking story. I know everything that happened. I know the person that's,
01:17:28
Speaker
fucking started it. I know exactly what their motives are. I'll listen to them genuinely and put, I'll put thought into it to where I'll be like, I know it's probably Google earth, but kind of makes sense. You know? Yeah. I, I understand exactly what you mean. Like I'm always interested to hear like hypothesis on it. And you know, you take that information and it's like, you listen to the theory and it's like,
01:17:56
Speaker
Is it plausible? Is it not plausible? Like you're not just taking people's like opinions as facts. You're like. and And I think it's, I think it's a little bit of what you said before, where it's, I also don't kind of believe in a lot of conspiracies and stuff like that anymore either, but it's fun. And sometimes we just want to have fun.
01:18:23
Speaker
yeah I was just gonna say that like even though I don't believe in a lot of this stuff I'm always interested and like that guy rabbit I would love to hear his theories on it like or just someone like that like Someone going off about it saying it's aliens I just think that's interesting to listen to and like hear their thought process on it like My thing with rabbit is so he doesn't like believe in the internet like he doesn't have a computer does have a phone um So like I don't know where he's getting his information from, but when he speaks, he's very competent. So I'm just like, you know what? I trust you. Yeah. And that's someone that does like other research, you know, stick mean you have to listen to a source before you decide whether it's credible or not. So like, you've got to hear these people out before you just dismiss them. But yeah, that being said, he has a genuine concern. Um,
01:19:20
Speaker
and So one other person kind of jumped in and they said that apparently if you like Shoot at it or like look at it It turns off like apparently like the glow around it turns off or like it's smart enough to know when to like Turn off. So like I don't know anything about that and I haven't found anything again, it's like I Wonder about the demographic of people that's like spending a lot of time outside at night in December
01:19:51
Speaker
Like I wonder, like, is there a certain type of people doing that? Because like, I am old like, I am genuinely interested in these things. I just haven't been able to see them because I'm not sitting outside at night. I mean, I don't, they're probably not visible from my house where I live, but still like. And I'll tell you, they're not visible from mine because I'm out late.
01:20:16
Speaker
almost every night and I don't fucking see anything. so we we have There's a lot of light pollution, but I'm also just not spending enough time outside at night to where I would see them. I have noticed on local Facebook groups, I've seen a lot of posts about, there was one specifically where someone's like, someone posted in this group and was like, I know everybody's talking about the drones, but I've been seeing these three glowing lights in a vertical line like every night this week in the same spot. And all the comments are just like, that's Orion's belt. Like, that has always been in there. So yeah, you have to question like, I don't know how to I don't want to say intelligence or like literacy, but you have to question like the credibility of people. I think it's really important to
01:21:12
Speaker
come to an understanding with yourself. Like I said, I have, we're like, I don't know what stuff in the sky looks like. So when I look up at the sky and see something that's strange to me, I just assume that it's something I don't know about yet. I don't assume that it's like extraterrestrial. It's like so to sit back and be like, I don't know enough to know about this. And it doesn't mean paranormal or anything. It just means it's like some shit you don't know about.
01:21:41
Speaker
What's your threat level at? Like what what are we putting this at? I don't know. Like I said, it's pretty intriguing. Like I didn't realize at first when I heard them, like in my mind a drone is like the little tiny ones that you can like hold in your hand. But then I saw that these were like vehicle size and I'm like, that's kind of crazy. But also I don't feel any type of fear about it.
01:22:11
Speaker
Another like quick thing that I will say is interesting. I feel like we've gotten a lot of like UFO news this year and a lot of like it kind of keeps getting brushed over and I think it's really funny but I think just as a society like we keep finding evidence of aliens and everyone's just so busy that they don't care about it because it's like it's like yeah like big ships in the sky that are unidentified that's pretty spooky but also like my rent's due on the first. So like, what do you want me to do about this? Right. It's like, I, I'm thinking about like, I gotta get home and get this Instacart delivery off my porch and like put my groceries in the fridge. I'm thinking about like, I gotta go home and vacuum. Like, like we just, I blame capitalism.
01:23:06
Speaker
But I feel like just as a society, we don't have time to worry about it. And. Well, that's kind of like, even if we did, like we we can't do anything. What are we going to think? We don't have, but yeah, I say all that to say like, I don't feel scared of them. It is pretty wild though. Like how big they are. So we'll put it at our official threat level at blue. Sure. Yeah. Blue is guarded. General risk of.
01:23:37
Speaker
terrorist attack. I didn't like vet the source but like one of the things I did see was that like they plotted it and showed that they were like moving in like a tracking formation and that's where like the 3d mapping theories came from because they're just moving like serpentine in like a grid formation basically like a like just like straight lines back and forth so it makes sense that they're either surveilling the area or they're mapping the area, it's gotta be one of those two. Who is surveilling or mapping New Jersey specifically? No clue. I do think this is very New Jersey coded and I feel a little bit proud, I have to say. Do you think that they should be making efforts to figure out who's doing it? I kinda, I mean, I read like that theory earlier that people were like,
01:24:37
Speaker
If the government didn't know what it was, they would have shot it down by now. And again, I'm not smart enough to like know a ton about this stuff, but that sounds right to me. So I assume that they're correct. Like if if they genuinely did not know what these like big car size drones were doing in like protected airspace, I think something would have been done by now. I agree. Yeah. So I think like.
01:25:03
Speaker
out of like all of the government entities in the military, somebody must know what they are. So I'm not really, can like they wouldn't have let it go on this long. The sighting started in mid November, we're now mid December, like someone would have done something. And I hope this isn't like an ad for like wild robot too. I feel like this could be like the,
01:25:32
Speaker
the glyph Gritty is like a Philadelphia thing, but I feel like this could be like a New Jersey mascot. The drones like make a caricature of it, make it like a cute. Has anyone made like fan art of of the drones yet with like? Not yet. With like cute eyes and like a little pink bow. Like the googly eyes from everything. everywhere hello Sure. I mean, I'm sure somebody's done that.
01:26:02
Speaker
Like where are the memes? I haven't seen any memes about it yet. Well, that's I guess that's part of the fun is that because there's no memes, there's no information, there's no this, there's no that, we can say maybe it is being covered up, you know? That's where like the fun comes in. Kind of like we, and this isn't anything related to this, but I came across a car accident And it like the car was on fire and it was just this crazy sequence of maybe five, 10 minutes. And I mentioned it to Julia because she's the tea getter and no, ah nothing, absolutely nothing, nothing, nothing is out about it. And it, it was a significantly big fire and nothing is out about it. So it's fun to,
01:27:01
Speaker
make up stuff, you know, in that scenario. and And with this, like, there's no memes, no one's really like, people talk about it. And then the posts kind of disappear. Not that they get erased, but like, what I mean by the post disappears, like the, the algorithm stops showing it. And boom, there you go. Now we can, now we can have fun with, oh, well, maybe they are trying to cover it up. Maybe um
01:27:33
Speaker
Some you know like that that's where the fun comes in I think Yeah, you're right. Yeah Well, if anything happens on this front, we will keep you guys updated check our Instagram page for Terror levels right now. We're on blue Yep, pretty calm anyone else have anything? No, Yeah, I
