Introduction to Star Wars Characters and Themes

That poor that poor kid from the beginning taken from his mom. I hate it. Like, I mean, I think it's good storytelling, but, you know, I hate it. I hate watching. And yeah, I mean, fuck you. Fuck you, Cad Bane. OK, but more of also fuck that lady's neighbor. Oh, yeah. Added her out, who literally lived next door. Asshole. You know who he'd be great friends with?

About 'This is the Way Seekers' Podcast

00:00:37
Speaker
Welcome back to This is the Way Seekers, a podcast for Star Wars fans by Star Wars fans. My name is Austin SWE. I'm here in my co-host Scotty Holiday to be discussing more bad, bad Scotty. How are you doing this week? I'm good. I'm feeling oddly energized on a Monday night. How are you? Yes. Yes. Oddly energized, oddly energized. And can we point out that we are recording this on a Monday night because
00:01:02
Speaker
We've been a little behind recently with our Bad Batch coverage, talking about the Bad Batch. We literally just uploaded our Ventress episode today. And then this is going to go up tomorrow, today, for the people listening. So we did just want to start by apologizing to everybody for our lack of posting, but we're happy to be back on schedule, right, Scotty? For sure. Awesome, awesome. Well, Scotty, what episodes of the Bad Batch are we discussing today? And notice how I said episodes.

Exploring Themes in Bad Batch Episodes 10 and 11

00:01:31
Speaker
yeah we got a two-parter again the second two-parter of the season episode 10 identity crisis and episode 11 point of no return ooh scary honestly great episodes i was on the edge of my seat once again but this time especially like just
00:01:49
Speaker
the anxiety watching these these two episodes and also the heartbreak. There's some great moments and I really think it has to do with how well this season has been setting up these last few episodes. Well, something we talked about off the air is about like which episode we thought we'd talk more about. And I said episode 10 and you said episode 11. So I'm very interested to see where the conversation goes with these episodes.
00:02:19
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I'm really interested to see why because I'm assuming you you liked episode 10 more than episode 11 then because you would have more to say or I Think I liked episode 10 more as I watched it a second time I think what I realized is that I may or may not be subconsciously rooting for Emery to be better
00:02:42
Speaker
Yeah, well, here's the thing.

Emery's Redemption and Moral Dilemmas

00:02:44
Speaker
I 100% agree with you because if you watch back at some of the old episodes while we're discussing season three, I mentioned, I said, Emery's getting a redemption arc.
00:02:54
Speaker
Yeah. And here it is, here it fucking is. And I think I chose her as like my character of the week for the first three episodes too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I picked her and I was like, oh, Emery. Yes, yes, Emery broke my heart in these episodes because she's in that position that I think a lot of us have been in before where it's like, you want to do more, you want to do better. I mean, obviously for Emery, it's literally like children.
00:03:23
Speaker
And well, I mean, captivity, but like compared to something like with a genocide going on in the Middle East or just political issues in general, things that go on in our country and in other countries where we feel like we're powerless and we can't do anything, but we want to do something. And sometimes it's hard to just think of what can I do to make a difference? And I feel like Emory on obviously a more different scale because this is in Star Wars.
00:03:51
Speaker
But she's kind of hit with that question, too. And even when she goes to Nala say, she's she says, I have no power. And she's like, what could I possibly do? And Nala says, like, don't you?
00:04:02
Speaker
don't you have power because there's no one above Emory at least that's going to do something so it means that Emory is literally the person that has the most power to do something but also like think about being in them has in that position like Emory doesn't have a family or a home you know it's not like she can
00:04:21
Speaker
exactly relate to these kids but then in a way she can because it's like it's all she's known and i think it's starting to wake her up kind of being like yo wait a second they're locked in here which means i'm locked in here means everybody's locked in here
00:04:38
Speaker
like Omega said, nobody deserves to be at Mount Tantus.

Real-world Parallels in Star Wars

00:04:42
Speaker
And I think that, you know, these episodes are really showing that I'm really loving, really rooting for every right now. I know people like hated her last season and hated her at the beginning of the season, but I don't know. I don't know. Even when she calls the child, like when she calls the child her real name, I can't remember her real name or her code name, Ava.
00:05:04
Speaker
Ava yes when when she doesn't want to talk to her and then she's like Ava and then she starts talking to her just amazing moments but you mentioned the the conflict in the Middle East and I think that that's really important to bring up because Star Wars once again reminds us
00:05:22
Speaker
of the real world, because not only the connections with Emory, but think about Pabu getting attacked and just people at their homes, you know, and the empire has problems with what, three, four people on Pabu. And they're taking it out on everybody and destroying, livelihoods, killing people for no reason. And that's something that I wrote down in my notes too.
00:05:45
Speaker
Wow, that is a really great comparison to take what, you know, something in fiction into what's going on in the real world, because Star Wars has always been political. But yeah, because the empire comes in, doesn't give a shit about anything is going after maybe a couple of people taking it out on everybody. And like, even Shep is like, you're destroying our livelihood. And they and who is it? CX to who's like, I can do worse. Right. Or I've barely done anything yet. Fucking bitch.
00:06:15
Speaker
But yeah, I think it's really important to remember that, that feeling that you feel watching that, watching Pabu get attacked and people's livelihoods just being destroyed like that, it's happening in the real world. And we're powerless, but there's things we can do. We can spread awareness. Well, that's the thing.
00:06:34
Speaker
We're not powerless. We may feel powerless, but we can do more than we may realize. And we should.

Speculations on Emery and Omega's Backstories

00:06:43
Speaker
Exactly. Exactly. So we're going to put a few links down in the description, because I think that we should use this use this time to share some resources for what people can do for sure.
00:06:54
Speaker
something I wanted to bring up speaking on Nala say and Emory's conversation and I wrote down the quote because I the first time I read it it's the quote where she says their children like I was was your plan to discard them too and at first
00:07:14
Speaker
I was like, OK, they're talking about Omega because she's like, oh, you discarded Omega and Nala says like, no, I had to let her get away. I was protecting her. But then the second time around, I'm like, is there more that meets the eye into Emery's past where maybe you think so? I mean, there has to be right. I mean, I think the fact that she is a female clone of Jango Fett means that there has to be more to her.
00:07:41
Speaker
I mean I agree and the fact that she says their children like I was like was your plan to discard them too and I'm like don't tell me that Emory was like the Omega before Omega came into the picture and Nala say was like bye girl sorry you don't have an m count
00:07:59
Speaker
right i thought about that or like you know maybe uh because omega has like the slowing age or like age is the same as boba fat if i yeah they just they don't have accelerated aging exactly so i wonder if emery does have the accelerated aging and maybe
00:08:16
Speaker
I don't know, maybe Nala Se doesn't see those clones to be useful after they're not young kids, which has weird negative connotations, but you know, it's Nala Se.

Star Wars' Socio-Political Influence

00:08:31
Speaker
And speaking of Nala say and the kids, like the fact that she was doing what she could, as she puts it, and as we learn from just Emory short conversation with Ava, just when she's like, oh, now she said she was going to check on it for me. And she's like, yeah, to see when I could go home. Let me tell you, Ava was the star of episode 10 because she made me cry.
00:08:55
Speaker
Almost three times. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Same. First, go ahead. Well, you were about to name the the the times that she made you cry. I'm sure one of them was, you know, her being like, is he going to get in trouble? No, like that. That hurt me. And then and then. Well, I guess that wasn't what hurt me when I realized that it was out of Emory's control and Emory's finding out, like,
00:09:23
Speaker
So what happened to him and the droids like it's standard that for two rotations they're left out for

Character Motivations and Allegiances

00:09:30
Speaker
punishment and I'm just like oh I just felt like the the frustration not even left out they're in solitary confinement they put a child in a cell presumably with nothing for two days
00:09:44
Speaker
right it's just fucked up it's fucked up how they treat all the kids in these episodes i mean the kids that are in confinement already that poor that poor fucking kid from the beginning taken from his mom i hate it like i i mean i think it's good storytelling but you know i hate it i hate watching oh yes stunned and yeah
00:10:06
Speaker
Fuck you. Fuck you, Cad Bane. OK, but more of also fuck that lady's neighbor. Oh, yeah, added her out, who literally lived next door. I was like, you fucking little piece of shit. Fucking asshole. You know who he'd be great friends with?
00:10:22
Speaker
fucking tim from andor besties best friends but but well i was gonna say at least tim had an excuse i mean he didn't but tim thought he was protecting his little girlfriend or whatever or was like jealous what the fuck was this person's reason did he just think like money he wanted the credits true because he's a piece of shit
00:10:43
Speaker
Yeah, little fucking bit. He's probably an alcoholic. He's going to go spend it at the cantina. True. I almost thought it may have may have had like a deeper thing and this might just me be reaching. But, you know, like, you know, you know, when you see people that are like.
00:10:59
Speaker
gay people against trans people or like gay not queer, what's it called? Like LGB, blah, blah, blah, where it's like their mindset is basically, oh, well, if I side with the people that are attacking trans people, they'll think me as a queer person is one of the good ones. And I almost thought that maybe it was the same situation here where because he's an alien and you know how the empire feels about aliens. Maybe he's sitting here thinking, trying to get a little favor.
00:11:28
Speaker
Yeah, if I if I tell that maybe they'll think I'm one of the good ones. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know what his deal was. I really think he just wanted the money. But I like I like that idea that he was just trying to save his own ass because the empire already doesn't like him because he's not a human. So I like that. But I will say, yeah, it was really
00:11:51
Speaker
I feel like we as the audience, well, we were we were exposed to what was going on and what the specimens really were, as Emory was, which it was crazy because we were kind of going through

Omega's Origins and Potential Force Abilities

00:12:02
Speaker
the same thing. And something I wrote down when I was taking notes on it, I was like, she just got the worst promotion in the world that she thought she really wanted. Right.
00:12:11
Speaker
I was like she when when Hemlock said like oh research isn't continuing she's like let me do it you know just update my codes and I can do it like put me in charge put me in coach and he was like okay immediately and then she gets in there and she's like this is not what I thought I was signing up for
00:12:32
Speaker
And I personally think I mean, we already talked a little bit about Emery redemption, but I honestly think her getting promoted by Hemlock is only going to radicalize her against him. It's going to it's going to bite him in the ass because something I just thought about while you were talking about this and I don't know why I didn't pieces together. This may have been obvious for people may have been obvious for you, but. Emery is getting radicalized. Meanwhile, Omega is on her way to Tantus.
00:13:03
Speaker
Who's probably going to interact with Omega when she gets to Tantus? Emery. Of course. Which means that Emery is probably going to be a huge part of how Omega escapes.
00:13:14
Speaker
And I would love that at this point. I'm rooting for her. I don't want it to turn into a girl. I was rooting for you. We were all rooting for you. How dare you? I want I want like a yes. Yes. Like that's what I want. I don't want it to be a Tyra Banks. I've never yelled at a girl like this. Right.
00:13:33
Speaker
But yeah, it's going to be really interesting to see how these next few episodes play out. And you're right, because if we make or not, Omega, if Emery's already in charge of the kind of swing of the vault where the the M count kids are, I don't know what else to call them, the M count kids. Omega is going to go right there and Hemlock.
00:13:55
Speaker
He hasn't deleted her file out of the system. Like all of the stuff for Omega is there. And he even says in episode 10, like we have to prepare for her return. It's like you don't even know where she is right now. Exactly. It's crazy. It's so funny. And speaking of Omega going back to Mount Tantis, I meant to bring this up during the Ventress episode, but I want to talk about make us account for a second because I have a theory and I want to know your thoughts on it.
00:14:23
Speaker
Okay, because I think that right now, everybody's assumption is that Omega has midichlorians because of some sort of science experiment, something Nala say did clone experiment something to do with you know how she's just one of the defective clones like the batch.
00:14:40
Speaker
I think that's a lot of people's theories. It's kind of what Hemlock thinks, right? Because he wants Omega back at Mount Tantus for that reason, because he's trying to do what Omega's existence is, which is a clone with midichlorians. I don't think that Omega has midichlorians because of any type of science experiment.
00:14:59
Speaker
i think that omega naturally has midichlorians that she was gifted with by the force when she was born created just like any other human or person would any living being would so you could say she was born this way baby
00:15:15
Speaker
Yes, yes, going this way, except for Omega. But think about it. Think about how interesting that would be, because, like I said, Hemlock thinks that Omega is going to be the key to all of this. But if she naturally has midichlorians, then is going to fuck it all up, because Omega's existence isn't any type of science experiment. And I think it also is backed up a little bit by the rise of Skywalker novel.
00:15:42
Speaker
because in there they talk about Rey and you know she's born from a clone of Palpatine but the clone of Palpatine doesn't have midichlorians doesn't have the force which means that neither of Rey's parents are gifted I mean we don't exactly know about her mom but the assumption is she probably doesn't have a high m count either yeah
00:16:02
Speaker
But in the book it explains that Rey's power isn't because of Palpatine, it's because she was naturally gifted with the Force. The Force just gave her midichlorians, just like it would for any living person, any living being. So it could really be the same instance here.
00:16:20
Speaker
And Nala say, you know, could just be protecting her because she knows that even if it was a natural occurrence, that it's still going to she's still going to be tested and still going to be experimented on, which is why she realized like, no, we got to.
00:16:35
Speaker
you gotta let her go. But I don't know. Do you think it's possible or are you more on the side of it's a science experiment and that's why she has midichlorians? I thought about it in the past, like that she could have just been gifted when she was created. But then the more I thought about it as you were talking, I was like, well, why would Nala say like,
00:16:57
Speaker
want to protect her from being experimented on, because that just goes back to what Emory was saying. Like, so you only care about Omega, but you didn't care about the other kids. Right. So I'm like, I do feel like there's some there's something there's some wild card with Omega that the other kids don't

Cloning Complexities in Star Wars

00:17:14
Speaker
have. And I'm not even going to lie. I even tried to like look at, you know, when Emory is like going through their little files and her iPad. And I tried to like look to see if there was like a big difference between any of them.
00:17:26
Speaker
And it's not really like they all look pretty in the same range. So I don't know. I don't know. Something's different about Omega, but we don't know what. And maybe it is just that she has clone DNA. So her DNA is genetically modified to begin with. So even if she was given like, even if she was gifted with a high metachlorian count because she has that kind of manufactured DNA, it makes it easier to manipulate. I don't know. True.
00:17:54
Speaker
Not to be like, yeah, your theory is probably wrong, bro. No, no, I totally get it because it's been something that's been on my mind because I just I just imagine the moment where like Hemlock and all his little bitches are like doing all these experiments on Omega and they just literally cannot figure the fuck out what happened.
00:18:13
Speaker
and they cannot get it out of nala say because nala say doesn't know and i still do kind of think that nala say would protect her no matter what yeah because it's like like i said she realizes either way that she has midichlorians and maybe this is something she realized after the fact after omega already left with the bad batch and was like oh no we do need to get her out of here but
00:18:35
Speaker
I don't know. Could go both ways. I think you are on to something, though, because it is alluded by Tarkin in this episode that like if.

Political Dynamics in Star Wars Animations

00:18:44
Speaker
Yeah, literally, he's like, I know, but he's like, well, Hamlock, if your experiment doesn't go well, it's going to be really bad for you. So good luck, bitch, since you won't tell me what it is. You know, Hamlock thinks he's so cool. He's like, oh, it's classified between me and the emperor. You can't know.
00:19:02
Speaker
But then I think to myself, what the fuck is Hemlock getting out of this? Yeah, just fun. Oh, no, I think it would be the opposite way around. Maybe he has a big crush on Palpatine because because Palpatine.
00:19:39
Speaker
is between the emperor and the person that he's arguing with and what are the chances that if Hemlock were to be successful that Tarkin would take credit for
00:19:42
Speaker
He's a dictator. He ain't got on his knees for nobody.
00:19:51
Speaker
the project just like he did for the Death Star and Thrawn's tie advances. Yeah, typical Tarkin. I'm just like I like that he like I like that the writers noticed the pattern and we're like, well, if we're going to include Tarkin might as well. I know. And he's so snooty the way he's like, well, maybe I could be of some help if you just let me know what you needed all this money for. You don't know what I could help it out and do and add to it. And, you know, Hemlock's like, I'm sorry, Governor, that's going to be classified.
00:20:21
Speaker
right talking must have just been bored because his little stormtrooper that he has the fling with with the mouse droid that keeps going back and forth is probably busy so he's on his janitorial shift yeah
00:20:35
Speaker
So I have to point this out because you're a solo girlie. And how much did you love the species that was introduced in solo got brought into this animated show as the mom and the little kid, the Tarla far species? Did you love that? Did you recognize them?
00:20:53
Speaker
Absolutely. Yes, I did. And I'm glad that you brought it up because I was going to bring it up earlier, but we moved on with the conversation. I was like, it's OK. It's not that important. Oh, no. It's important. Exactly. And I knew that. And that's why I was like, I have to bring it up. Yes. I'm a huge solo girlie. And I noticed noticed the species. I also feel like the species was in resistance. But don't quote me on that. Well, we don't talk about that show.
00:21:17
Speaker
your favorite show, your favorite Star Wars show, your favorite cast. I know. I was bringing it up the other day back two episodes ago or whatever, so I should shut up now. Yeah. No, but I always love the solo connections and it's also really cool.

Cad Bane's Role and Character Insights

00:21:32
Speaker
I think that we can attest to this with like the Tales of the Empire trailer. It's just cool seeing characters in the Clone Wars animation. Even if they were characters that were already from animation, seeing them in the Clone Wars animation, it's just like,
00:21:46
Speaker
I don't know, it's kind of cool like seeing how it all fits. No, I agree. Piece it all together. I agree. Yeah. Oh, and one final thing that I think we should mention about this episode is Cad Bane. I think it's so funny that they like put him in the trailer and it was like, oh, we're going to get more Cad Bane. And then he was at like two scenes.
00:22:08
Speaker
I know, I know. I literally thought to myself as I was rewatching the episode for a second time, I was like, they just had his asset already. And we're like, we need a bounty hunter. And they're like, OK, who's one that doesn't have a ton of ties to anything going on in this era? Cad Bane. OK. Well, you know, pull up his file, insert him into this episode.
00:22:29
Speaker
I agree. I think that's exactly. But I will say I did love when he made the comment to Emory, like you give away more than you think when she was asking him all those questions, like, oh, how many of these kids have you found? And at first, you know, he's like, I'm good at my job. And then she's like, where did this child come from? And he's like, girl.
00:22:48
Speaker
Right. I know exactly what you're doing. Like until. And you are not being sneaky in the whole time, too, when she's talking to Nala say, I'm like, there's a commando like a clone commando right outside. And she's like, I have no power. What can I do? I was like, did he not hear? But I'm like, oh, maybe it's just like standard for them to just not listen or put on the sound canceling option in their AirPods. I was going to say they've got their AirPods and they're listening to something inside the helmet.
00:23:19
Speaker
Yes, yes. But episode 10, I liked it. But honestly, I liked episode 11 more. So I'm interested to get into it. 10 just wrecked me emotionally. Like I said, poor Ava. Every time she was like, I want to go home. See, 11 just didn't hit for me like that. But it still had a lot of emotion and anxiety. So I'm excited to talk about it as well.
00:23:42
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Episode 11 had me on the edge of my seat. It's like, um, I mean, you always get on me for watching football. I wore my Kansas city hat today because I wanted to make the comparison that crosshair missing that shot at the end is exactly like watching football. That was exactly.
00:23:59
Speaker
Yeah, it's exactly like the Buffalo Bills being up three points with a few seconds left. And Patrick Mahomes has a few seconds to score a touchdown. He scores it, but Qadari's Tony is offsides. So they lose the game. People are disliking and unsubscribing as the longer you speak about this. They're like, ew. What? It literally, it's exactly

Star Wars Ship Designs and Storytelling Elements

00:24:21
Speaker
the same. It's exactly the same where it's like, oh, you have a few seconds to score. And it just doesn't happen. And they're just hoping.
00:24:33
Speaker
That was actually honestly, though, not to relate this to my experience in sports. But every time I played a soccer game and I had the chance to like actually make it up to like score a goal, I always missed every single time, every single time, either that or like I barely like could be running too fast. So my legs would be too extended and then I wouldn't be able to kick the ball hard enough. So it every time.
00:24:54
Speaker
I just thought of that when crosshair did that and missed and I was just like
00:25:00
Speaker
Unless it was like a really shitty team and then, you know, I could score a goal at that point. But like period. Yeah. Every time it was my moment. So I guess that's a good comparison because I can I can relate to that unfortunately as well. And it was really sad watching his little thing go. Yes. And even just like his face, like even under the helmet, like which the clones are also expressive. And the animators do such a good job. I mean, think of that shot where
00:25:26
Speaker
Hunter realizes that they're being attacked. And it's just like a 360 shot of his helmet. And he's just like. Oh, my God. Good. Well, fucking good. I feel like that's a good. I feel like that's a good jumping off point to kind of get into the episode, because when we start the episode and you've made these comparisons, people make these comparisons online. Pablo is just getting darker and darker and the skies are getting darker and darker. So when after the ship is blown up.
00:25:55
Speaker
And we hear the kind of rumble. I'm just thinking, oh, they're going to make it even more depressing and it's going to start raining. But it's even worse because they turn. It's a fucking star to show the most terrifying imagery. It's like the most terrifying imagery in Star Wars. I feel like you could put Darth Vader at the end of the hallway. And that's pretty terrifying. But like when you're in a big open area and you see a star destroyer pop up above you, it's fucking game over.
00:26:23
Speaker
Right. And I told you that a big ass Star Destroyer, big badass Star Destroyer was going to pop up on Pabu any day now. And here it was. And it did. And it was carrying my one of my favorite ships, all the LA 80s, all the gunships. Loved that. That was great. That made me happy as my little Attack of the Clones fan.
00:26:46
Speaker
Yeah, I thought about that. I always love seeing just like the like Bad Batch is a really cool show to me because it shows like the transition between the Republic and the Empire. I think it's I think it's a really cool transition to see. Well, speaking of Attack of the Clones, too, as I was watching it, I was like the the CX like clone assassin ship is very similar to a Jedi starfighter.
00:27:12
Speaker
which I thought was very interesting in like the shape, the landing gear. I mean, obviously they're not exactly the same, but then I also kind of thought it drew inspiration from first order ships. So I feel like this is a really cool era, like you were saying, where they can kind of pull from lots of different things because it doesn't look a ton like any other imperial ships, maybe the inquisitorious ships. But yeah, yeah, those also feel very first order.
00:27:39
Speaker
yeah i guess i didn't think about that i'm trying to picture in my head like the the comparison i i just thought that his ship looked like a dorito and also just like looked really futuristic for an imperial ship how can i lie well jedi star fighter meets final order final order first order yeah don't worry while you're editing you can pull up the clip and look at it
00:28:02
Speaker
wait a second you just connected dots in my head because palpatine the final order the final order right what he had in the rise of skywalker and exit goal and exit goal is connected to project necromancer through hemlock's doing so is it possible
00:28:19
Speaker
that that ship actually could be like not that it's from the final order but you know same manufacturer Palpatine's making sure that these people working on project necromancer have the best of the best which is what he gave to the final order
00:28:34
Speaker
That is very true.

Omega's Growth and Future in Star Wars

00:28:36
Speaker
I like that idea. He's like, this is my special shipping or like shipbuilding company. We're not using dumbass Morgan Ellsbyth on Corvus. We're going to use. We're not using Corellia like Boo. Fuck them. We don't want their old ass models. We want something new. We're using the Mon Calamari. Fuck them. Their ships are all bulbous.
00:28:58
Speaker
we're using this futuristic uh you know final exit building company look at us we're just like off the off the rip with these theories that we didn't even think about beforehand this is why i love star wars and everyone wants to complain and be like they shouldn't be fixing the sequel trilogy but it's like they're just tying things together they're just weaving things in and out and that's like my favorite thing in storytelling
00:29:29
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. And nobody complains when Tales of the Jedi is connecting to Saifo Diaz and how Dooku was able to erase a whole ass planet, you know, literally about that by pushing some buttons that had no markings on them. And then it was just like gone. Right. Which is insane, but that's a different episode. But Omega, can we talk about Omega and just like
00:29:57
Speaker
the sacrifice she made when she came out there and was like, stop, I surrender, leave them alone. I was like, ooh, bad bitch. I knew it was coming. I mean, yeah, I knew it was coming. I knew that's exactly what she was going to do. I was like, her bitch ass is going to surrender because she's going to feel bad that the empire is taking it out on everybody on Pabu. And she's like, it's my fault. Right. Well, yeah, I thought the same like when like even before it happened, I'm like, Omega, why don't you just like go
00:30:26
Speaker
surrender yourself and then they'll like follow you or whatever, or you know, I don't know. But Omega leaving and escaping, do you think- I'm gonna call it escaping. Escaping, being taken, whatever the fuck you wanna call it. Do you think that Omega has something else on her, like another track or something? Because when she took off her hat at the end, I really thought that they were about to show something inside her hat.
00:30:54
Speaker
i did think the second time around after they found the one tracker they stopped scanning her so like she could easily have one in her boot yeah it would not cx2 either he'd be so creepy i'm like i hate that dude me too asshole and do you think it's still possible that
00:31:15
Speaker
he is some like i don't know i just feel like i know people keep saying like oh he's just a new character give it up give it up and i agree and i don't mind if he's a new character i'm not going to sit here and like let that ruin the show for me but they put a lot of importance on him way more than cx1 and the fact that we haven't seen him without the mask is really there's gotta be something right
00:31:39
Speaker
So here's the thing. There's multiple lines, this episode where he sounds exactly like crosshair, like inflections, exactly the same sound like Jango fat and okay. Well, neither do any of them, but, but you know what I mean? Like he doesn't sound like yes, it's a normal average. He's got that kind of like, like, yeah.
00:31:59
Speaker
When he says like, I've got eyes on the target, he's got the kind of like growly, almost like it's like a lethargic, I guess lethargic and pointed or kind of antonyms, but whatever. It's a weird mix of the two. And it sounded just like crosshair multiple times in the episode. And I will say, I think it's it's during episode 10 where or no, maybe it is episode 11.
00:32:28
Speaker
During one of the episodes, Hemlock is looking into a tank and I'm pretty. But yeah. And if you look at his data pad, it has one of the CX clone assassins on it. Yes, yes, it does.
00:32:44
Speaker
And, you know, when we originally saw even in the trailer and we saw a shot of one of the CX people coming out of whatever that little room is. So there's some weird conditioning that goes on in that room and there's some kind of tank that these that these clones go in for this reconditioning.
00:33:04
Speaker
And it's purposefully not revealed what he's looking at. We are inside the tank looking at Hemlock. Hemlock is looking into and I don't even know if it's like a tank. It's almost like a stasis type thing, I feel like.
00:33:15
Speaker
Yeah, incubators or maybe it's like one of the cool back to tanks they have with like, you know, the walls go down and the water just like dissolves in a drain at the bottom, which I love those the best. Those just look the coolest. But there is some like kind of bubbly sounding. There's lots of like hissing and smoking. And I'm like, what is in there? And then I thought, is that where the CX clone people come from?
00:33:39
Speaker
Right. I think so because it's like the obvious answer.

Weaving Complex Star Wars Narratives

00:33:43
Speaker
I don't know how obvious it is. If you have a full context of like why the sky walking everything. I feel like it's pretty obvious.
00:33:49
Speaker
that it would be like a Palpatine clone or Snoke or some shit, right? But I do, like you said, on his data pad, it's one of the CX clones. It has to be something. I know people, you know, I talked about how I feel like it's, if it is somebody I want it to be crosshair, like not, I want it to be a clone of crosshair. I hate the idea that the crosshair we're seeing now is like the clone, I would rather be vice versa where it's,
00:34:17
Speaker
CX is the clone of crosshair but people brought up well the whole reason that they need Omega and Boba Fett is because they can't clone Jango Fett clones and I'm like yeah they did establish that but they also established that they can't clone midichlorians and now Omega has the force so
00:34:33
Speaker
yeah and on top of that they haven't tried to clone they haven't tried to clone one of the defective clones either exactly exactly so but i know like anybody who mentions tech kind of gets like dragged and i get it like
00:34:51
Speaker
we let let tech be dead but I mean there there there still is like a possibility that it is a clone of tech or it is tech especially because there's some good foreshadowing there with like text goggles being left on pabu full
00:35:08
Speaker
You bring that up, something that I thought was not only was it kind of a final resting place for tech by leaving the goggles there, but also with Omega leaving her Tuka doll there, it was really it was like a sign of her and her maturity, which we see later in the episode. It's like she's saying goodbye to, you know, I don't want to say her child is childish ways that. Oops. Yeah, it's just like her
00:35:37
Speaker
It were visually seeing that she's growing up and she's like becoming more mature. And that was kind of like a final goodbye to, you know, the naive child that she was. Now she's taking a step into a wider galaxy. And she does make that adult decision later in the episode. And she even like cuts cross hair down and is like, it's my choice.
00:35:58
Speaker
Yeah, and that shuts him up not to get completely off topic, but you know No, I think that was a final goodbye to omega's kind of like naive childhood And then it was also a final goodbye for tech which I feel like maybe if we had another season This wasn't

Character Dynamics and Potential Fates

00:36:14
Speaker
the final season. They'd have time to do a whole tech Uh kind of dark trooper whatever clone assassin, but just like we don't even have time for that. Yeah, that that's the thing is like
00:36:26
Speaker
There's like no time for cx2 to be like anybody. There's four episodes left unless they're gonna start upping the runtime I do think it's possible that the finale Especially because I don't think the finale is a two-parter. That's sure possible that it'll be like an hour because it was an hour
00:36:46
Speaker
And how season one and two had 16 episodes and the season only has 15. Yeah. You know, they had to pay for a little extra for Tales of the Empire. So they said, we're just going to cut it down to 15 episodes this season.
00:37:01
Speaker
Yeah, with that fire ass animation. But you brought up Crosshair and Omega's conversation. Something I keep thinking about ever since I watched the episodes. And think about how it's been brewing. People keep telling Hunter, you can't trust Crosshair. You can't trust Crosshair. And Crosshair has proven himself time and time again. But what's Hunter's reaction going to be?
00:37:27
Speaker
not knowing what happened. Is he going to think that crosshair was just like, oh, bye, Omega. Bye. See you later. Yeah. Well, that's that's something really something really big to point out because I didn't even think of that because that could just rehash whatever progress. Well, and on top of that, we don't know what's going on with record. He's down for the count. So it's just literally like crosshair.
00:37:54
Speaker
I kind of wanted him to just die, but. No, I mean, yes, but no, I don't know why I know what you mean. Like, yeah, I like that this show, like with tech and such, if tech's actually gone, which I really do think he is, I like that it's like the one Star Wars show besides and or that's willing to make deaths permanent and make you scared and up the stakes by killing characters. Well, I'm like.
00:38:23
Speaker
We can't have just tech die. Like, why'd he have to be the sacrifice out of the six of them? Like. But that's the autistic one. You know how Star Wars feels about marginalized people? Well, they like Thrawn.
00:38:38
Speaker
Yeah, true. They did bring thrown to live action. So I guess I guess. And the empire likes people and the empire. Well, they like him enough. True. True. For an for an alien. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's a whole part of his story. But that's that's for another time when we have MJ back on. So we did a whole PowerPoint about it. We'll link it in the cards. Go check it out. MJ chimera chats. Amazing. So MJ.
00:39:06
Speaker
But Scottie, you prepared some questions to kind of theorize for these next few episodes. So why don't you take us into those?
00:39:13
Speaker
Yes. So the first thing, and it's a pretty obvious question, I feel like we've already gone over it. Do you think Emery is going to defect? I do. Absolutely. Why not? So moving on.

Speculations on Omega's Rescue and Allies

00:39:26
Speaker
There's something that I was already thinking about, and I feel like a lot of people are thinking about how is the batch going to find Omega and Mount Tantus? And I know we kind of talked about it already, like she could have a second tracker, but then there's also kind of what she's using the force to call out to somebody. What do you think?
00:39:42
Speaker
Yeah, I think that's the more likely scenario because I feel like maybe I'm just remembering. She puts on her meditation face. Yeah, yeah. She starts meditating. I think it's just a matter of who will she reach out to because I think that whoever receives it would have to have the force, right? Like, would she be able to just reach out to Hunter and Hunter would be like, Oh, my God. Or does it have to be Ventress?
00:40:08
Speaker
Well, what? Maybe it's going to be maybe it'll be Plo Koon and he'll finally get his chance to shine after they faked him out with the Mandalorian with Grogu. I tried to call it to somebody. God, I would I would love that. We ain't got time for Plo Koon though. I mean, it could be it could be Gunji like. Oh, true. They get the band back together. We got Gunji. We got Ventress. We get V. Yeah.
00:40:35
Speaker
So Fennec Shand, who knows? But like I said, I feel like it has to be somebody who has the force. I agree. And immediately I want to think Ventress, but. I don't necessarily I don't know if she would be the one.
00:40:53
Speaker
I just don't know who else it would be. And I think that, I don't know. I just really liked the idea that, because like we mentioned in the Ventress episode, having Ventress was great, but it felt a little incomplete. And maybe that's just because we know that she's gonna be having her own series. Sorry, let me manifest for a bit. But come on, it's possible that they could also be continuing her story a little bit within this season, because it's like,
00:41:21
Speaker
it would also be cool for her to like go back to Hunter and crosshair and wrecker if he's alive and be like hey like Omega reached out to me y'all and we gotta go
00:41:35
Speaker
Well, that's something we had talked about. And when we talked about the Ventress episode is Hunter needing some kind of epiphany to trust Ventress because he never had the chance to. So a Ventress, if, you know, Omega does reach out and Ventress hears her call like and she would be the one going to the batch to be like, I know how to get to Omega.
00:41:56
Speaker
That would be that olive branch between Hunter and Ventress. And not only that, but it would give Ventress a really big hero moment, which, you know, that I would really love. And see, the Ventress episode didn't make me cry, but given her a big hero moment, I would cry. Yeah. And like, also, we need somebody with a lightsaber at the Mount Tantis, Narkeena five escape to fuck it up. Yes. Who's going to slash open those stupid tanks in the vault? Yes. And I hope that she beheads Hemlock.
00:42:29
Speaker
Not and my parents the bad batch I don't know I think parents might be okay with that one But yeah, do you have another question or is that that it I
00:42:50
Speaker
Well, I mean, we kind of talked about it already, but like, what do you think is going to happen with record? Is he going to die? Is he going to be OK? Is he going to be in a horrible neck brace again, like at the end of season two? I think that no matter what's going to be fucked up because crosshair and Hunter aren't going to want to leave without record.
00:43:13
Speaker
but he's also gonna be a huge liability. The Empire's on Pabu. Yeah, they're not gonna be able to carry his ass. How are they gonna get off Pabu? The Marauder's blown up.
00:43:24
Speaker
true and they blew up even they blew up even the boats i was like what why you had to blow up their boats what the fuck are they gonna do with the boats i guess i guess ventris is gonna have to come pick him up and her kind of b wing shit that makes cool noises the noises are cool the ship design is ugly maybe our good friend shep and his daughter liana who finally appeared in this episode will have like a fancy ship that it comes out of the core of the island into their cool tower
00:43:54
Speaker
Shout out to Shep. Yeah. He's like, I'm the mayor of this town. I was like bestie. They don't care that you're the mayor. They do not care. They're not going to stop. Yeah, but good on him for standing up. But good on Shep. We always knew he was a real one.
00:44:14
Speaker
Yeah. One thing I one thing I want to mention though before we go is that even though we have four episodes left, I kind of think we're going to still get a filler episode. Oh yeah. Because the trailer that shot or that scene where it's like they're on that mountain and it looks like from solo. It's just and they're on a juggernaut and fees there. Oh God. He's going to pick them up. Yeah. I was about to say it's going to be fee heading back to Pablo.
00:44:44
Speaker
yep you are and her ship is ugly too oh my god they really got a ship for no reason they really gave up on ship designs fennec shan ships horrible fee ship is horrible i feel like there was another ship that was really horrible cadmaine ship i've always thought was ugly yeah they just said we're just making these ugly these ugly ships now we ran out of ideas where's doug cheng
00:45:13
Speaker
It'd be like that. But Scotty, if we have nothing else left, why don't you send us out of here? As always, make sure to follow us on social media at WaySeeker's pod so you never miss an episode or any of our bad batch coverage. Thank you all so much for watching and may the force be with you always. We're back on track, bitches!
