And my answer to that originally was, you know what it what is an important trait of a master Smith? And at the time I said, it was um attention to detail. I actually think it's effort, just plain and simple effort. Cause when I, sure there's a skill thing there, but They just, like, if I if i look at, I'll use Kyle Royer, he spends so many hours on the tiniest detail. So I've already puzzle pieced. the guard onto the handle which took many hours of like sanding and filing and you know took a long time but I haven't slotted the guard yet okay and it's an inch and ah it was complicated a lot of milling it probably took me at least a couple hours on the mill to slot this thing and without going into a ton of detail but basically I'm slotting it with a an eighth inch end mill And then I measure the knife and I'm like, okay, what's the thickness of the knife? um Minus an eighth divided by two, which was seven thousandths of an inch. So I have to mill off seven thousandths of an inch on either side of that slot.

Well, dumbass is, you know, if you, if you're, you know, flying by instruments, something pilots do, but you're not actually looking at what you're doing, you're flying by your instruments. So instead of taking seven thousandths off, I took 70,000ths off.

So I now have a slot that is a sixteenth of an inch too big on either side after doing probably eight hours of work between the guard and the handle.
