Disney World Updates and Nostalgia
00:00:13
Speaker
We're going to play a little game we call Spill the Tea.
00:00:21
Speaker
Hello, everybody, and welcome to another episode of Thrills, Chills, and Spills, where we spill the tea on all things theme parks, special events, and especially the spooky season.
00:00:35
Speaker
And we actually have some official news this time, finally, which we'll get into later on.
00:00:39
Speaker
But of course, starting off, we have some spills.
00:00:45
Speaker
In typical Disney mom fashion, I have a Disney World spill today.
00:00:51
Speaker
So Disney Parks released a little bit more information about their reimagined Frontierland, which is going to be called Piston Peak National Park.
00:01:01
Speaker
I guess coming to Frontierland, they say, inspired by the history and iconic sites of American frontier.
00:01:06
Speaker
And then they posted a picture.
00:01:11
Speaker
And I just wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts about it.
00:01:16
Speaker
Who pissed on Pete?
00:01:18
Speaker
Why'd they do that?
00:01:24
Speaker
Is this because you're drinking wine?
00:01:27
Speaker
Podcasts are supposed to be entertaining.
00:01:31
Speaker
So I have some thoughts and the thoughts are that people on Twitter are wild, which is basically my spiel like every freaking episode at this point.
00:01:39
Speaker
But like the vitriol over...
00:01:43
Speaker
And I'm not a Disney adult by any means.
00:01:46
Speaker
Like I'm happy to be critical of their decision making.
00:01:49
Speaker
However, the amount of people that are like canceling my season pass never will go back again, blah, blah, blah, because they removed like a water feature and a slow moving boat.
00:02:01
Speaker
That's ridiculous.
00:02:03
Speaker
Like I get nostalgia and I get that that's why a lot of people are reacting the way they're reacting because it's like I grew up with the park looking like this.
00:02:10
Speaker
It's a pleasant, like calm, relaxing area of the park and the boat ride is a nice, calm, relaxing thing to do.
00:02:17
Speaker
And you probably have like memories being a kid on it.
00:02:20
Speaker
I've been on that Liberty Bell boat as a kid and I remember doing it.
00:02:23
Speaker
But theme parks can't stay static forever.
00:02:26
Speaker
There's only so much land that they have, and then eventually they have to update.
00:02:30
Speaker
And I don't know how much kids nowadays care about an old-fashioned steamboat.
00:02:38
Speaker
I was bored by it when I was
00:02:40
Speaker
and I'm bored by it when I'm 35.
00:02:43
Speaker
So it's like, here's the thing.
00:02:45
Speaker
It would be different if the concept art was bad, but it's not.
00:02:51
Speaker
There's still water.
00:02:52
Speaker
Yeah, there's so much water.
00:02:54
Speaker
There's so much water.
00:02:56
Speaker
Everyone's so concerned about them getting rid of Rivers of America.
00:02:59
Speaker
Look at, there's more water.
00:03:01
Speaker
It looks like it attaches to the water.
00:03:02
Speaker
It looks really nice.
00:03:04
Speaker
They're going to be able to incorporate cars and the cars attraction super well.
00:03:09
Speaker
There's all kinds of natural elements.
00:03:11
Speaker
If you zoom in on this picture, it looks very like Fort wilderness esque in some areas.
00:03:17
Speaker
They've got like some geysers.
00:03:19
Speaker
They've got some hot spring looking things.
00:03:24
Speaker
It looks really nice.
00:03:27
Speaker
We love to celebrate Walt and Walt's vision or we wouldn't have Disney world at all.
00:03:32
Speaker
But like Joey said, things need to evolve.
00:03:34
Speaker
Parks need to grow and change.
00:03:37
Speaker
If they're not gonna open a fifth park, they need to change things in the parks that exist.
00:03:45
Speaker
All of us 30 plus year olds that have nostalgia to Disney World from 25 years ago, we're gonna be dead and our kids are gonna be going to Disney World and they don't know what any of this is.
00:04:01
Speaker
This is gonna be a sassy episode, I can tell.
00:04:04
Speaker
Very sassy, the toot is there.
00:04:08
Speaker
Well, I'm glad to hear that you're in agreement, Kelly.
00:04:11
Speaker
I wasn't sure how you were going to feel about it.
00:04:12
Speaker
You thought I was going to go the other way?
00:04:14
Speaker
No, not necessarily, but... I love me some Tom Sawyer Island.
00:04:18
Speaker
I like that it's nice and quiet and a resting place, but I've probably actually done it one time when I was a child and one time as an adult.
00:04:26
Speaker
My kids don't want to go there.
00:04:28
Speaker
I say to them, hey, we're spending the day in Magic Kingdom.
00:04:30
Speaker
Do you want to go take this tiny little boat over to this island where you can run around?
00:04:36
Speaker
Do you want to go ride...
00:04:38
Speaker
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
00:04:40
Speaker
Like, what are they going to pick?
00:04:44
Speaker
I feel like they're just hating at this point.
00:04:46
Speaker
Like, if you're not happy with it, like, you're just trying to be a hater at this point.
00:04:49
Speaker
Because it looks really nice.
00:04:50
Speaker
It needs an upgrade.
00:04:51
Speaker
And like you said, if you're not going to make a fifth park, make
00:04:55
Speaker
the best out of what you have already.
00:04:57
Speaker
And that's where this is going with that.
00:04:59
Speaker
Well, that's the wild part is like, usually like it's on Twitter.
00:05:02
Speaker
It's like the Disney and the universal people yelling at each other.
00:05:04
Speaker
But in this case, like the Disney people are yelling at themselves.
00:05:08
Speaker
They're like, why am I doing this?
00:05:11
Speaker
And like, we know that it takes, and some of this might've been COVID, but like the Disney, the major Disney changes as of late have certainly taken over
00:05:22
Speaker
Like, you know, the attractions they were building during the pandemic took a lot of time, but like, look at what they can do when they reimagine lands.
00:05:29
Speaker
There are new things.
00:05:30
Speaker
Galaxy's Edge, beautiful.
00:05:32
Speaker
If you even go back to Toy Story, beautiful.
00:05:35
Speaker
Even the new Fantasyland at Disney is really cute.
00:05:37
Speaker
Like if you spend some time back there, not just like the old part where it's like in between the tents, but like the back where there's like, you know, Beauty and Beast's castle and
00:05:48
Speaker
like the new reimagined Dumbo area, all of that stuff.
00:05:53
Speaker
I'm purposely calling them by the attractions because I feel like our listeners might know more what I'm talking about than if I was Disneyland now.
00:06:00
Speaker
I just think we can trust Disney to do a good job.
00:06:03
Speaker
It might not be ready a year from now or two years from now, but they're going to be reimagining Frontierland and then they're going to put villains in there somewhere and it's going to look great, I think.
00:06:13
Speaker
And I'm excited and I will continue to go as often as I possibly can.
00:06:18
Speaker
Now, one thing we can criticize is that, isn't that, this is being announced in closure, is it July?
00:06:25
Speaker
Was that the date?
00:06:26
Speaker
I believe July, yeah.
00:06:28
Speaker
So, like, I understand.
00:06:30
Speaker
Not all of Frontierland.
00:06:33
Speaker
Just the island and the hope.
00:06:38
Speaker
doing a refurb, a pretty prolonged refurb on Big Thunder Mountain.
00:06:42
Speaker
And that's actually opening the last day of my Disney trip, LFG.
00:06:47
Speaker
And we're going to Magic Kingdom that day.
00:06:52
Speaker
Everybody's going to be rope dropping that ride.
00:06:55
Speaker
I'm going to adjust my plans.
00:06:58
Speaker
So it's like, I think part of the negative reaction is maybe the fact that they're closing it, you know, soon.
00:07:05
Speaker
And the replacement for those is probably going to take a long time.
Personal Park Experiences
00:07:11
Speaker
So it's unfortunate that a section of the park that, you know, hosts people capacity is going to be gone for a while and it's probably going to be behind a wall or whatever.
00:07:19
Speaker
And yeah, I can see that being frustrating.
00:07:22
Speaker
There's so much to do at Magic Kingdom, though.
00:07:24
Speaker
So you're not going to really feel it as much as if it were a smaller park.
00:07:31
Speaker
I mean, they had Splash Mountain closed for a while while it was becoming Tiana's, and then they just had Thunder Mountain closed for a while.
00:07:37
Speaker
So they're not closing the whole land.
00:07:41
Speaker
Everyone will survive.
00:07:42
Speaker
That Liberty boat thing, Liberty Bell, it's empty all the time.
00:07:49
Speaker
Nobody goes on it.
00:07:51
Speaker
When this opens, they're all going to love it anyway, which is so funny.
00:07:55
Speaker
They're so pissed about this.
00:07:57
Speaker
Maybe now people will be on it.
00:07:58
Speaker
I'm going to send you guys pictures of what the boat looks like.
00:08:02
Speaker
Will people be on it?
00:08:03
Speaker
It's going to be full on the last day.
00:08:08
Speaker
Everybody was arguing on Twitter about it, you said?
00:08:10
Speaker
All the Disney people?
00:08:11
Speaker
Yeah, the Disney people were mad at Disney.
00:08:15
Speaker
I'm just like imagining Wallen Wallen smirking in the corner, just like rubbing his hands.
00:08:20
Speaker
Oh no, Wallen Wallen is one of the Disney people who's angry about this.
00:08:24
Speaker
He loves Rivers of America.
00:08:28
Speaker
That checks out actually.
00:08:35
Speaker
Walt's dream and vision.
00:08:37
Speaker
Don't trample on my frontier land.
00:08:42
Speaker
I hope he doesn't listen.
00:08:43
Speaker
But if you are, well, and we love you, this isn't jest.
00:08:48
Speaker
We know you don't sound like that.
00:08:58
Speaker
Are you going to make me say it?
00:08:59
Speaker
Nobody else has anything?
00:09:03
Speaker
Everything is perfect in my theme park world.
00:09:06
Speaker
We're talking trash today, everyone.
00:09:11
Speaker
Okay, so I just think it's interesting three weeks before a major international trip that you have paid hundreds, sorry, thousands of dollars for to just be like, I'm not going.
00:09:28
Speaker
Y'all, that's interesting.
00:09:30
Speaker
That's all I've got to say there.
00:09:32
Speaker
If you've already spent $500, just go.
00:09:39
Speaker
Just so you know, though, it's not causing any extra work for us.
00:09:44
Speaker
So in case you were concerned about the events team, we're fine.
00:09:52
Speaker
We're doing nothing.
Kelly's Theme Park Journey
00:09:54
Speaker
So if you don't want to come, but that's wild.
00:10:02
Speaker
Anyway, very excited to go to UK.
00:10:05
Speaker
Completely irrelevant.
00:10:05
Speaker
It's still going to be great for us.
00:10:10
Speaker
So nothing else before we jump on to the next?
00:10:14
Speaker
I don't think we should.
00:10:14
Speaker
Joey's like, please stop me right now.
00:10:20
Speaker
So once again, as we did in the past two episodes, we've interviewed, you know, one of us.
00:10:27
Speaker
Just so you guys can get to know us a little bit more as theme park slash coaster enthusiasts.
00:10:32
Speaker
And this week we'll be asking Kelly some questions to see who she is, I guess.
00:10:39
Speaker
This is me and my whole personality.
00:10:43
Speaker
All right, let's do it.
00:10:44
Speaker
So first question, of course, is not part of the lightning round.
00:10:46
Speaker
So you take your time with that one.
00:10:48
Speaker
So when and why did you become a theme park and roller coaster enthusiast?
00:10:54
Speaker
This is a hard question.
00:10:55
Speaker
This is really the only one I thought about.
00:10:57
Speaker
I don't think there was like a specific...
00:11:00
Speaker
Like I've only really called myself an enthusiast for the past couple of years, like since I've known you guys, but I really enjoyed amusement parks and rides from a very young age.
00:11:10
Speaker
I remember like my parents taking us to all the local fairs and I would go to Ocean City, Maryland every year as our like family vacation.
00:11:19
Speaker
We had a condo there and
00:11:21
Speaker
as much as I love the beach, like I was always asking like, when are we going to go to the boardwalk?
00:11:24
Speaker
Like I want to ride rides.
00:11:25
Speaker
Like even when I was super little, there's like tons of pictures of me on like rides with my dad.
00:11:30
Speaker
And I just really enjoyed like experiencing the feeling of being on things that were fast, I guess, when I was little.
00:11:41
Speaker
I remember riding my first roller coaster at Dorney park.
00:11:44
Speaker
I went with my friend and her dad and it was like a dragon wagon.
00:11:52
Speaker
It doesn't even exist there anymore.
00:11:53
Speaker
But I just remember loving that.
00:11:56
Speaker
And then as soon as I realized I was tall enough, which I was very tall, very young, I know that's probably not shocking.
00:12:02
Speaker
So I could go on a lot of things at a young age.
00:12:06
Speaker
So I rode like Thunderhawk.
00:12:07
Speaker
And then my aunt was really into roller coasters.
00:12:11
Speaker
So we would like go to Hershey and Great Adventure and
00:12:14
Speaker
she would get me on bigger and bigger rides.
00:12:16
Speaker
And I would say like towards the end of elementary school, I started to find like RCDB and I would do like really nerdy things like print out the pages from RCDB and like make little booklets.
00:12:29
Speaker
And my friend and I would like look through them.
00:12:32
Speaker
And that tracks so hard.
00:12:36
Speaker
I have some of them still.
00:12:38
Speaker
I have a Cedar Point one and a Doherty and a Hershey and a Great Adventure one because those are like
00:12:42
Speaker
the parks that I had access to really.
00:12:45
Speaker
And then I rode Steel Forest.
00:12:48
Speaker
That was like the first coaster that I was like, okay, I like really like this.
00:12:52
Speaker
I want to see like what else is out there that's like this.
00:12:56
Speaker
So I started looking on RCDB, like what are the tallest roller coasters?
00:13:01
Speaker
And I found Millennium Forest and convinced my family when I was in
00:13:06
Speaker
fifth or sixth grade, like we need to take our family vacation to this place in Ohio because I need to ride these rides.
00:13:16
Speaker
We went, my family went and we brought my friend who was my best friend at the time and also into roller coasters and went there when I was like 12.
00:13:25
Speaker
And then I just continued like enjoying theme parks.
00:13:29
Speaker
I was always a Disney person to kind of would go there intermittently with my family as a child.
00:13:37
Speaker
I worked at Doherty Park in high school.
00:13:40
Speaker
And then I kind of like took a step back from all of those things as life went on.
00:13:46
Speaker
And I was like busy in school and stuff.
00:13:49
Speaker
Got back into it a little bit in medical school when I lived in Tampa because I lived like two feet away from BGT.
00:14:00
Speaker
I guess probably like 2019 ish.
00:14:04
Speaker
I like started finding more like coaster related media.
00:14:09
Speaker
Like I found some coaster YouTube and found some podcasts and like just started learning more and realized that there like was a community of these people.
00:14:17
Speaker
And then you guys know the rest of the story.
00:14:20
Speaker
I went to a random event that wasn't even an event, met all of you, joined Buzzbars and that was it.
00:14:30
Speaker
Like three years later now?
00:14:32
Speaker
That was in the beginning of 2022.
00:14:41
Speaker
So now time for the lightning round.
00:14:55
Speaker
My favorite coaster now is Stardust Racers.
00:14:59
Speaker
favorite theme park um fantasia land the next park you're visiting um epic universe oh all right uh what are steel i feel like i have to say steel because if you look at my like top whatever it's mostly steel but i really enjoy like a good wooden coaster too but steel i guess
00:15:24
Speaker
And so would you always skip over spooky season or would you only wait, what is it?
00:15:30
Speaker
You can only ride coasters built in 2000 and earlier.
00:15:32
Speaker
I'm never skipping spooky season ever.
00:15:39
Speaker
Number one hobby outside of coasters.
00:15:42
Speaker
I guess growing up it was dance.
00:15:44
Speaker
I danced like my whole life.
00:15:46
Speaker
Now I'm a dance mom.
00:15:47
Speaker
Now I don't dance.
00:15:50
Speaker
Sometimes I enjoy dancing.
00:15:56
Speaker
Anything with rum.
00:15:59
Speaker
Best pizza topping.
00:16:03
Speaker
That's controversial.
00:16:08
Speaker
Bucket list travel destination.
00:16:12
Speaker
Um, this one's really hard because I have like so many places on my list.
00:16:15
Speaker
I've always been kind of like enamored with what Santorini looks like, like all the white buildings and the water.
00:16:21
Speaker
I also want to see the lagoons in Iceland.
00:16:25
Speaker
I also want to stay in one of those like over water huts in like the Maldives.
00:16:30
Speaker
Yeah, those look really cool.
00:16:31
Speaker
Those look so sick.
00:16:33
Speaker
Anything water related.
00:16:36
Speaker
I'm with you on that.
00:16:37
Speaker
What's your go to karaoke song?
00:16:40
Speaker
I do not do karaoke.
00:16:41
Speaker
I never will unless I'm very inebriated.
00:16:44
Speaker
Um, but I do sing in the car and it's usually whatever my kids want to listen to.
00:16:49
Speaker
So it's been wicked because Amelia is obsessed.
00:16:53
Speaker
And then what is your rollercoaster hot take?
00:16:57
Speaker
I don't have one and I didn't think about it.
00:16:59
Speaker
Um, it used to be that voyage was mid, but I've come around.
00:17:08
Speaker
Do I have any hot takes now?
00:17:11
Speaker
Yellow over green is a little bit of a hot take.
00:17:14
Speaker
Lately I've been seeing people really like green.
00:17:17
Speaker
I guess I need to give it more tries.
00:17:18
Speaker
I've ridden yellow a lot more than green.
00:17:21
Speaker
So I'll give that a try.
00:17:23
Speaker
Yeah, that's why I like yellow more too, because I didn't get many green rides.
00:17:27
Speaker
But everyone's saying green.
00:17:29
Speaker
Everyone is saying green.
00:17:30
Speaker
One that I've seen come up a little bit lately, I guess because people have been like,
00:17:34
Speaker
Traveling after Hollywood nights.
00:17:36
Speaker
A lot of people were at six like St.
00:17:37
Speaker
Louis and like raving about, um, Mr. Freeze.
00:17:41
Speaker
I don't like anything from here except icebreaker.
00:17:45
Speaker
I like icebreaker, but I do not like, I do.
00:17:49
Speaker
I do not like the Mr. Freeze's at all.
00:17:51
Speaker
It's probably the backward.
00:17:57
Speaker
And can you let us let everybody know your socials?
00:18:01
Speaker
Yeah, I don't really use them.
00:18:04
Speaker
I'm Kel Nicole on Twitter.
00:18:06
Speaker
I probably use that the most.
00:18:08
Speaker
Exploring underscore forces on Instagram.
00:18:11
Speaker
We like are never on there.
00:18:14
Speaker
I think that's it.
00:18:17
Speaker
I have a personal Instagram that I that you guys all know.
00:18:27
Speaker
So moving on to our recent events, which we have plenty to talk about this time, actually.
00:18:34
Speaker
Two weeks ago on Memorial Day weekend, you guys were in Virginia for Virginia is for Stumbles the Revenge.
00:18:42
Speaker
Tell us how that go.
00:18:44
Speaker
Major FOMO for me.
00:18:45
Speaker
So I need to hear all about it.
00:18:47
Speaker
I know we missed you.
00:18:52
Speaker
I had a birthday and it was a great day.
00:18:57
Speaker
And then I died, actually.
00:19:04
Speaker
I like fully, Rafa, I don't know how much you know about how my weekend went, but the next day I like woke up feeling not good at all.
00:19:12
Speaker
And the whole day people were blaming it on me being out all night.
00:19:15
Speaker
Like, you're not sick.
00:19:16
Speaker
You were just like out screaming, I guess, was the concern.
00:19:21
Speaker
But no, I got really sick.
00:19:23
Speaker
Like Saturday night, I had like full chills and body aches.
00:19:29
Speaker
It was not a good time for me.
00:19:30
Speaker
And it was tough because like my kids were there, which was fun.
00:19:33
Speaker
It was really fun riding rides with them.
00:19:34
Speaker
But like I could not function as like a leader of a club, a parent and a sick person.
00:19:40
Speaker
It was really hard.
00:19:42
Speaker
But you guys were so great.
00:19:44
Speaker
You helped so much.
00:19:47
Speaker
Let's talk about the event.
00:19:49
Speaker
Well, Friday night we started off a little kickoff event at the Vail Brewing in downtown or close to downtown Richmond.
00:19:58
Speaker
Probably had, what, like 30 people show up to that?
00:20:04
Speaker
Yeah, around that.
00:20:05
Speaker
We had a little private area there in the back room, which was nice.
00:20:09
Speaker
Just met some new people, hung out.
00:20:12
Speaker
kicked off the event.
00:20:14
Speaker
The kids were checking people in.
00:20:18
Speaker
Oh, that's awesome.
00:20:19
Speaker
Amelia was writing down little hearts for the dotted eyes and stuff.
00:20:25
Speaker
She was calling the lanyards lanyards the whole weekend.
00:20:30
Speaker
It was lanyards that weekend.
00:20:35
Speaker
I didn't have any.
00:20:38
Speaker
I didn't, I didn't have a drink there.
00:20:40
Speaker
I did, but it wasn't beer.
00:20:44
Speaker
I had old fashions and they were apparently very strong.
00:20:47
Speaker
Was that the only spot that you guys went to that day?
00:20:56
Speaker
But we're like maybe 15 minutes in and I look over and Kelly is double fisting drinks.
00:21:02
Speaker
I'm like, oh my gosh.
00:21:04
Speaker
Listeners and friends, this is not โ let everyone beep beep back up.
00:21:11
Speaker
I do not do this often.
00:21:13
Speaker
I do not do this often.
00:21:14
Speaker
It was my birthday.
00:21:15
Speaker
Why are you apologizing for your birthday?
00:21:17
Speaker
It was your birthday.
00:21:18
Speaker
Yeah, it's your birthday.
00:21:19
Speaker
It's excused on that day.
00:21:23
Speaker
I'm not an alcoholic.
00:21:25
Speaker
I was giving the drinks.
00:21:29
Speaker
And then once she gets a little bit buzzy, she's like, let's take pictures.
00:21:33
Speaker
We took so many pictures.
00:21:37
Speaker
That was the only time.
00:21:38
Speaker
The rest of the weekend, I have no pictures.
00:21:40
Speaker
All of my pictures are from within a 20-minute period at the Vale.
00:21:44
Speaker
We actually do have one where Rafa is Photoshopped in.
00:21:47
Speaker
I have to go find that.
00:21:49
Speaker
Yeah, it's really funny.
00:21:52
Speaker
Oh, we'll post it.
00:21:55
Speaker
I think Tom posted it in like our events team chat and not in TCS.
00:22:04
Speaker
Yeah, that was fun.
00:22:06
Speaker
Spent a couple hours there.
00:22:07
Speaker
Then we kind of, the group kind of split up.
00:22:10
Speaker
I think people maybe went and got some food and did different things.
00:22:13
Speaker
And we met back up at, um,
00:22:16
Speaker
Social 52, just another bar.
00:22:19
Speaker
Bunch of people showed up.
00:22:20
Speaker
It was super crowded in there.
00:22:22
Speaker
Kelly's shrugging her shoulders.
00:22:26
Speaker
It's been like an hour there.
00:22:29
Speaker
I guess he had a couple at the Vale.
00:22:34
Speaker
Didn't say you were late.
00:22:37
Speaker
I mean, you showed up like ready to party.
00:22:43
Speaker
I had three old fashions.
00:22:45
Speaker
I think only one of them I bought.
00:22:47
Speaker
And yeah, they got me good.
00:22:50
Speaker
A memory just came back to me.
00:22:52
Speaker
Sitting in the corner with Ryan.
00:22:58
Speaker
yes we took over going on in the corner we were judging people from the corner it was great yeah yeah and it was so loud in there everybody was like screaming to talk over each other and then scott i know you're listening to this of course he's listening he's there he came back with a tray of like
00:23:23
Speaker
15 women drop, I think was the first one that he got and just handed them out.
00:23:29
Speaker
Brought some shots, by the way.
00:23:33
Speaker
These were like cups full of like a normal size cup, like a third of the way full.
00:23:40
Speaker
Scott is dangerous.
00:23:41
Speaker
Like we got like the rise of like a new hobby right now, especially if he's bringing a team.
00:23:49
Speaker
Javi will come at you with one and then Scott will sneak up with another one.
00:23:54
Speaker
He's like, wait, no, you didn't take one.
00:23:56
Speaker
That's going to get everybody.
00:24:00
Speaker
They're both going to the UK.
00:24:02
Speaker
Everyone look out.
00:24:03
Speaker
So it's going to be a mess.
00:24:07
Speaker
Yeah, I spent, I don't know, not super long, maybe an hour and a half or so before we went to the next spot.
00:24:15
Speaker
I was not really drinking much.
00:24:18
Speaker
So I was just kind of trying to corral this herd of Buzz Bars members and get them safely down the sidewalk and across the street, which was a task by itself.
00:24:30
Speaker
We went to New York Deli.
00:24:31
Speaker
They had a DJ and some dancing.
00:24:32
Speaker
Which is a highly misleading name.
00:24:36
Speaker
Yeah, I'm from Richmond, so I was picking the places pretty much.
00:24:41
Speaker
And everybody's like, I'm not hungry.
00:24:43
Speaker
Why are we going to a deli?
00:24:46
Speaker
Well, guess who was hungry?
00:24:49
Speaker
Nate dancing on the middle of the dance floor with a freaking to-go box sandwich.
00:24:56
Speaker
I didn't remember that at all.
00:24:59
Speaker
For at least half an hour.
00:25:00
Speaker
Yeah, we had a full sandwich just dancing in the middle of the dance floor.
00:25:05
Speaker
He's like offering people chips out of it while he's dancing.
00:25:09
Speaker
You were better than me, I guess.
00:25:15
Speaker
And that's where we ended the night.
00:25:16
Speaker
I don't really know.
00:25:19
Speaker
I don't really know what other people did, honestly.
00:25:20
Speaker
Did people stay for a long time?
00:25:25
Speaker
She doesn't remember.
00:25:26
Speaker
Yeah, I had no idea.
00:25:43
Speaker
You guys even make it the next day.
00:25:50
Speaker
Well, I threw up twice, but... In various King's Dominion bathrooms.
00:25:55
Speaker
Thank you, King's Dominion.
00:25:58
Speaker
Before or after Raptor?
00:26:00
Speaker
I was putting on a brave face for the kids, you know?
00:26:03
Speaker
I was having to gunkle, so... I went and just disappeared and did my business, and I was fine.
00:26:13
Speaker
Because we started out the day with our ERT at Raptorra,
00:26:20
Speaker
And Amelia wrote it, which is awesome.
00:26:28
Speaker
She got off and immediately wanted to go back on again.
00:26:30
Speaker
So she wrote both with me and all.
00:26:33
Speaker
Can we back up to the awkwardness, though, of walking in the park?
00:26:38
Speaker
Like, everybody was waiting.
00:26:40
Speaker
Lines were almost to security.
00:26:42
Speaker
And we just walked past everybody and walked through for our ERT.
00:26:46
Speaker
We were getting the dirtiest.
00:26:48
Speaker
Yeah, that was kind of funny how they did that.
00:26:52
Speaker
Everybody was looking at us like, why are you allowed in right now?
00:26:58
Speaker
That's all you got to do.
00:27:01
Speaker
So what did you think of the ride?
00:27:05
Speaker
It was better than I expected it to be because I feel like the reviews were like, it's like not as good as Thunderbird.
00:27:11
Speaker
I feel like it's pretty close, to be honest.
00:27:13
Speaker
Like the launch was punchy.
00:27:16
Speaker
Um, I feel like the inversions were pretty nice and floaty.
00:27:20
Speaker
I was on an outside.
00:27:22
Speaker
I only wrote it once.
00:27:23
Speaker
I was on an outside seat on the left in the second row.
00:27:27
Speaker
And I didn't really feel like the like rattly bouncy stuff that's been happening with the new BNMs.
00:27:32
Speaker
I know other people did, but I was also like paying only attention to my child.
00:27:37
Speaker
Like I wasn't like, is she okay?
00:27:39
Speaker
Um, but I really liked it.
00:27:42
Speaker
And I love the color of it and how it looks and the theming of that whole area is just beautifully done.
00:27:47
Speaker
The, the walk up to it and the theming and the queue is, is very well executed and they somehow got away with having a bare bone station by making it look like archeological and it kind of works.
00:27:58
Speaker
So good for them for making a budget thing kind of work.
00:28:04
Speaker
I also agree that I thought it was better than I expected, especially given the track record of B&M recently.
00:28:12
Speaker
I will say that I guess I prefer it closer to the front because I got a couple rides and the ride I had in the back of the train was the one that was kind of like rattly and a little jarring.
00:28:22
Speaker
But the ones in the front were like nice and smooth and felt good and everything.
00:28:26
Speaker
I don't think the launch is as good as Thunderbird just because Thunderbird starts from zero.
00:28:30
Speaker
And so you get like a punch at the beginning, but it's still a nice launch.
00:28:35
Speaker
It has like more float than probably any of the wing coasters, I think, like which is nice to have that.
00:28:42
Speaker
And then it has that signature like inline roll at the end, which all of them kind of do, which is I like those.
00:28:52
Speaker
I think I talked about it a few episodes ago since I wrote it for opening day, but I hope they add some shade to the QI and that's going to be rough this summer.
00:29:03
Speaker
It's pretty exposed.
00:29:05
Speaker
I can't imagine waiting in it.
00:29:07
Speaker
To be honest, it was nice to walk right through.
00:29:10
Speaker
I think I got four rides, I think.
00:29:14
Speaker
So yeah, it was pretty good.
00:29:16
Speaker
And we were about 10 minutes late by the time we finally got all the way back there too.
00:29:21
Speaker
Yeah, and it kind of went a little bit longer, I think, than actual opening.
00:29:25
Speaker
Yeah, I was a little stressed.
00:29:26
Speaker
I was a little stressed when we were walking back, watching the time go by, but it ended up being fine.
00:29:32
Speaker
Yeah, it was fine.
00:29:33
Speaker
I think if they open the front gates at 11, it still takes people 10 minutes to walk all the way back there, so it really gives us a couple extra minutes.
00:29:44
Speaker
Yeah, that was nice.
00:29:46
Speaker
We just kind of bebopped around for the rest of the day and, you know, row various things.
00:29:50
Speaker
We went and rowed Reptilian with the kids.
00:29:53
Speaker
We rowed Great Pumpkin Coaster plus one.
00:29:57
Speaker
Kelly, what did Ben say about Tom on Great Pumpkin Coaster?
00:30:07
Speaker
If you listen, I'm pretty sure it was on TDR.
00:30:10
Speaker
I think Tom talked about it.
00:30:12
Speaker
Um, we all rode the train before Tom and we were all like, my children prefer to ride with Tyler and Joey, not with me.
00:30:21
Speaker
So I sat by myself while my children sat with my friends.
00:30:26
Speaker
Um, and then Tom was on the next train and Ben's like, why are you on there?
00:30:30
Speaker
Why are you sitting like that?
00:30:37
Speaker
You're hanging out or you're like hanging over.
00:30:41
Speaker
You're poking out.
00:30:42
Speaker
He like screamed that in front of a full queue.
00:30:44
Speaker
He said you're poking out.
00:30:47
Speaker
Literally like the entire station queue like started laughing.
00:30:54
Speaker
He just roasted him in front of everybody over here.
00:30:57
Speaker
This child lives for a roast.
00:31:00
Speaker
If he can make you laugh, like, that is his happiest self.
00:31:04
Speaker
Like, he loves that kind of attention.
00:31:08
Speaker
So he was just on cloud nine.
00:31:11
Speaker
Yeah, that was fun.
00:31:14
Speaker
And then we, I think we did Woodstock after that, or nearby to that.
00:31:17
Speaker
That's kind of fun.
00:31:19
Speaker
Like, I forgot how, like, fun those little guys are.
00:31:21
Speaker
Yeah, they're nice.
00:31:25
Speaker
I think after that we headed back to Timbers, didn't we?
00:31:29
Speaker
We tried to ride Apple's Apple.
00:31:32
Speaker
And then tell us about Amelia on Twisted Timbers.
00:31:36
Speaker
Well, we rode Twisted Timbers, and then we had a meetup for everybody at Twisted Timbers at 2 o'clock.
00:31:41
Speaker
And she didn't ride the first ride.
00:31:42
Speaker
She's tall enough for, like, the RMCs that are 48 inches.
00:31:46
Speaker
And we had talked to her about it.
00:31:47
Speaker
She's been pretty brave lately.
00:31:48
Speaker
Like, she rode Rapterra.
00:31:49
Speaker
She rode Stardust Racers.
00:31:50
Speaker
That didn't go great, but...
00:31:52
Speaker
She's been riding bigger rides and I try to keep it really low key with her because the way that she is, is like, if we talk about something for a while, she gets anxious and starts to panic.
00:32:03
Speaker
So I was just like, yes.
00:32:05
Speaker
So I'm like, okay, like we're all getting in line.
00:32:08
Speaker
Do you want to go or not?
00:32:08
Speaker
She's like, no, I don't.
00:32:09
Speaker
And then she goes, actually, I'm going to come.
00:32:11
Speaker
Cause she like saw everybody getting in line.
00:32:12
Speaker
And then she goes, oh, no, I'm not.
00:32:14
Speaker
And I'm like, okay, Amelia, I'm getting in line.
00:32:16
Speaker
So like you decide what you want to do.
00:32:18
Speaker
She goes, okay, I'm going to ride it.
00:32:19
Speaker
So she like gets in line all nonchalant.
00:32:21
Speaker
It also helped that Kim and Dex, their kids were there and their older son is like the same height as Amelia.
00:32:28
Speaker
He's a little bit older than her, but like he was riding.
00:32:30
Speaker
So she saw him and she's like, okay, like I can do it.
00:32:34
Speaker
And we were standing in line with them and talking to them and he was like encouraging her.
00:32:38
Speaker
It was so, so cute.
00:32:42
Speaker
I saw her start to go down.
00:32:44
Speaker
She was starting to spiral a little bit as like we were in the station, like in the like cues we were like next to get on.
00:32:50
Speaker
And I saw her start to like, she does this thing where she like starts to hyperventilate a little bit.
00:32:55
Speaker
And I'm like, it's okay.
00:32:56
Speaker
Like, it's going to be fine.
00:32:59
Speaker
We get in the train.
00:33:01
Speaker
we are going up the hill and she's like breathing like freaking a hundred beats a minute.
00:33:10
Speaker
It's really going to be okay.
00:33:11
Speaker
And like Dex sees her doing it.
00:33:13
Speaker
He's like, it's okay.
00:33:15
Speaker
Like his son is like being so encouraging, chilling right behind us.
00:33:19
Speaker
We start to go down.
00:33:20
Speaker
She knows what the ride does.
00:33:21
Speaker
Cause she watched it.
00:33:22
Speaker
She's like, I don't think I like it.
00:33:24
Speaker
And then all of a sudden just cried, cried the entire ride.
00:33:28
Speaker
And it wasn't even just like, it was like,
00:33:34
Speaker
I'm like roasting my own child.
00:33:35
Speaker
She, she was not okay.
00:33:39
Speaker
And we get back into the station and everyone like knew that she was riding her first RMC and was like looking for her reaction.
00:33:45
Speaker
And she's just crying.
00:33:46
Speaker
I'm like, thumbs down.
00:33:49
Speaker
So we get off the ride and she runs over and hugs Tom and says, I was really scared.
00:33:57
Speaker
I didn't know what to expect.
00:33:58
Speaker
It was just a lot, which it is.
00:34:00
Speaker
It is for a six-year-old.
00:34:01
Speaker
Yeah, I was going to say, it's pretty violent.
00:34:05
Speaker
But not 60 seconds later, she was doing cartwheels.
00:34:08
Speaker
So it really wasn't.
00:34:10
Speaker
She's like, I'm over it.
00:34:13
Speaker
And then not to jump ahead, but...
00:34:15
Speaker
we rode it again with her later.
00:34:17
Speaker
She's like, I'm going to ride it again.
00:34:18
Speaker
Can I ride with Tyler?
00:34:21
Speaker
So she's talking about it for literally hours.
00:34:23
Speaker
She's like, I want to ride Twisted Timbers with Tyler.
00:34:25
Speaker
I want to ride it.
00:34:27
Speaker
But remember like when you cry, like you didn't like it.
00:34:30
Speaker
She's like, I know what to expect now.
00:34:32
Speaker
So I'm going to be fine.
00:34:32
Speaker
And she was, and she put her hands up.
00:34:36
Speaker
Yeah, that was crazy.
00:34:38
Speaker
And then we asked her, I asked her later, what was your favorite of the day?
00:34:41
Speaker
And she said Twisted Timbers.
00:34:44
Speaker
No, no, it's not just Twisted Timbers.
00:34:46
Speaker
It's Twisted Timbers with Tyler.
00:34:48
Speaker
Yeah, she doesn't want it if Tyler's not there.
00:34:51
Speaker
It's a terrifying ride if Tyler's not there.
00:34:55
Speaker
And she ranks her creds and it's number two now.
00:35:01
Speaker
Guardians of the Galaxy.
00:35:07
Speaker
That's about my child.
00:35:09
Speaker
That was a lot of mom bragging.
00:35:13
Speaker
I'm proud of her for going on it again.
00:35:15
Speaker
I'm very proud of her.
00:35:18
Speaker
I thought it was all talk.
00:35:21
Speaker
This is the same child who last year at Disney didn't want to ride Slinky Dog Dash.
00:35:29
Speaker
If she won't ride that, you've got to be like, girl.
00:35:30
Speaker
You've got a problem.
00:35:34
Speaker
We'll see how this trip goes.
00:35:36
Speaker
But we had a tailgate.
00:35:38
Speaker
I was not feeling well.
00:35:40
Speaker
And I was trying to keep eyeballs on my children.
00:35:42
Speaker
But it looked like everyone had a great time.
00:35:46
Speaker
I think it was a good tailgate for sure.
00:35:48
Speaker
Yeah, it was a good time.
00:35:50
Speaker
The kids occupied themselves by throwing pine cones over the fence.
00:35:54
Speaker
And then they built a pine cone wall.
00:35:59
Speaker
And Ben was doing like the buzz bars call.
00:36:03
Speaker
Ben was, Ben was on.
00:36:07
Speaker
Like four or five times.
00:36:09
Speaker
It was good, though, because we didn't just have it in the middle of the parking lot.
00:36:12
Speaker
We took over a picnic shelter, which was perfect for us.
00:36:15
Speaker
We should definitely try to do that more in the future if that's available.
00:36:19
Speaker
Yeah, we played a game.
00:36:22
Speaker
We stuck roller coasters on each other's heads and like how to, you know, try to guess.
00:36:27
Speaker
Have have you guess what your sticky note was on your head?
00:36:30
Speaker
Yeah, nobody really explained the directions.
00:36:33
Speaker
So well, everybody else got like what's on my head?
00:36:38
Speaker
I think that was probably my job, to be honest, because I made the sticky notes, but it really hurt at that point for me to talk.
00:36:43
Speaker
So I was just like, here they are.
00:36:47
Speaker
People figured it out.
00:36:51
Speaker
I don't really remember the order after that.
00:36:54
Speaker
We went back in the park.
00:36:58
Speaker
That's when we rode Twisted Timbers with Amelia and Log Flume.
00:37:08
Speaker
Grizzly's so good.
00:37:09
Speaker
I need to get back on it.
00:37:12
Speaker
I haven't ridden since the retruck.
00:37:16
Speaker
I wish I could have ridden it like 20 times and been happy.
00:37:23
Speaker
Thanks, Gravity Group.
00:37:25
Speaker
I also went in the Eiffel Tower for the first time ever.
00:37:30
Speaker
That's a good view up there.
00:37:33
Speaker
I just did a picture of my child only.
00:37:36
Speaker
The park is like, I think it's because I've been to King's Island more recently than King's Dominion.
00:37:42
Speaker
Going back there, I was like, oh yeah, this park is so much nicer.
00:37:46
Speaker
There's more trees and shade.
00:37:47
Speaker
I love King's Dominion.
00:37:51
Speaker
You don't realize how wooded the surrounding area is until you get up in the Eiffel Tower.
00:37:55
Speaker
It's just woods as far as you can see.
00:37:58
Speaker
And we were up there for sunset also.
00:38:00
Speaker
The park has trees everywhere.
00:38:02
Speaker
And like that whole side with the log flume.
00:38:05
Speaker
You can't even see the log flume hardly from there.
00:38:10
Speaker
But we were up there right around sunset.
00:38:19
Speaker
But I think I was slipping into potential fever land also.
00:38:26
Speaker
Oh, we also tried a special event.
00:38:29
Speaker
So it was their 50th anniversary and they had blue ice cream because of that.
00:38:38
Speaker
I thought it was good, but I haven't had the Kings Island blue ice cream in a while.
00:38:41
Speaker
So, which is apparently better.
00:38:45
Speaker
It was way too watery.
00:38:46
Speaker
It almost tasted like a mix between a snow cone and ice cream or something.
00:38:57
Speaker
There was something about it that wasn't quite right, but I, of course, ate it anyways.
00:39:04
Speaker
I think I left around like eight maybe, so not quite till part closing.
00:39:11
Speaker
But as I was walking out, they're doing some sort of light
00:39:16
Speaker
music type of show around the Eiffel Tower.
00:39:18
Speaker
I don't really know exactly what it is.
00:39:20
Speaker
I think that was the first weekend of it.
00:39:21
Speaker
So I need to go back and check it out.
00:39:24
Speaker
Something for the 50th though.
00:39:27
Speaker
She was dancing, doing her cartwheels.
00:39:29
Speaker
Yeah, I definitely need to get back there and check out the full thing.
00:39:34
Speaker
But I was just beat.
00:39:35
Speaker
I was ready to get home.
00:39:37
Speaker
Yeah, I left right after the tailgate with Javi and we went and played Rummikyu with my grandma.
00:39:44
Speaker
oh my gosh i didn't know that yeah we went to my parents house well we stayed with my parents for this trip um because they live in williamsburg and we got we got home and my mom and dad have like this charcuterie spread out and they're like do you want any snacks
00:40:03
Speaker
obviously your mother the sweetest woman i've ever met in my life yeah she's so nice that's day two yeah she got to come with us to to um bush gardens the next day which is her home park because it's my home park so that was nice yeah yeah yeah so we done with king's dominion
00:40:28
Speaker
That was a pretty chill day, I think, for most people.
00:40:31
Speaker
Bush Gardens, we got there super early.
00:40:35
Speaker
Some of the first people in line for the toll booths and we had a little tailgate right there at the toll booth.
00:40:41
Speaker
We had donuts and bagels and what else did we have?
00:40:53
Speaker
I was like, wait, what kind of tailgate?
00:40:56
Speaker
We're not that degenerate.
00:40:57
Speaker
I was like, damn, what are you guys doing?
00:41:02
Speaker
It was perfect, honestly, because we were like the first cars to go in once it opened.
00:41:05
Speaker
The notoriously slow Busch Gardens Stowe Plaza.
00:41:09
Speaker
But we had food before.
00:41:11
Speaker
Kelly, I had to go and peek my head in her car to see if she was alive.
00:41:17
Speaker
I was not at that point.
00:41:19
Speaker
I actually panicked.
00:41:20
Speaker
Well, I saw every half hour of the clock that whole night because I was very unwell and did not sleep.
00:41:26
Speaker
So when my alarm went off to get up and I tried to get up and I couldn't function, I was like, SOS, what do I do?
00:41:35
Speaker
So I got in the car with a mask because I thought I was dying and I didn't want to infect the rest of my family that I had just slept in a hotel room with and probably infected anyways.
00:41:46
Speaker
I rolled up to this tailgate in a mask.
00:41:48
Speaker
I looked heinous, I'm sure, but I slept at least on the way to the park.
00:41:53
Speaker
And then once we got through the toll plaza, everybody kind of went to like a little picnic area with the rest of the food and was kind of finishing up.
00:42:03
Speaker
And I quick did a COVID and flu test up the little nose ski to make sure that I wasn't giving people those diseases.
00:42:13
Speaker
I took some meds and came alive enough to function.
00:42:18
Speaker
Meanwhile, meanwhile, the uncles, I was just you at that point.
00:42:25
Speaker
Yeah, that's true.
00:42:26
Speaker
Me and Tom were a cute little gay couple with the kids.
00:42:30
Speaker
And my mom, actually.
00:42:33
Speaker
And we were heading back to, we rope dropped Big Bad Wolf, obviously the new ride, which I figured kind of most of the people would be heading for to try to beat the line, which we did.
00:42:43
Speaker
I think we waited like 10 minutes for it.
00:42:45
Speaker
So it worked out pretty well for us.
00:42:48
Speaker
We all got in line together.
00:42:50
Speaker
Ben is tall enough to ride it.
00:42:52
Speaker
But unfortunately, I think he got he didn't like the dangly feet, right?
00:42:56
Speaker
He kind of got a little psyched out by that aspect and didn't want to ride last minute.
00:43:01
Speaker
So Amelia, he's in the age of fear.
00:43:04
Speaker
So like last year, he would ride anything and Amelia was kind of in the age of fear.
00:43:08
Speaker
Now she's coming out of it.
00:43:10
Speaker
And he's going into like, I am aware enough to be afraid of these things.
00:43:14
Speaker
He's like thinking about it now.
00:43:18
Speaker
Even for Woodstock before he's like, is there air time?
00:43:21
Speaker
Like he wants to know how much there is.
00:43:22
Speaker
And you have to be like, just little, not too much.
00:43:25
Speaker
He's always like, is it a medium drop?
00:43:30
Speaker
I mean, he definitely could have handled it, but I get why it looks intimidating.
00:43:37
Speaker
I'm excited to see how he does in Disney because he has like most of those rides.
00:43:40
Speaker
I think like that will help him because there are none of them are that like bigger scary.
00:43:44
Speaker
So I think it'll make him like like it again.
00:43:46
Speaker
Well, he kept asking about airtime.
00:43:48
Speaker
I forget when they're riding.
00:43:49
Speaker
Was it did he ride grizzly?
00:43:55
Speaker
invader yeah oh yeah yeah he was like tom is there air time is there air time on this and then he's like no no no air time and then we're going up the lift he's like okay there might be a little air time yeah he wasn't thrilled on that but he like didn't love it it stopped he's like yeah but we also rode big bad wolf first week i was functional enough to help clean up the tailgate we did have to kind of wait a while though
00:44:23
Speaker
by the time we got there yeah there was some stragglers well and it broke down while yeah amelia and tom were on it so you had to wade through that too what did we think i thought like the the theming was really well executed like the whole village looks cute like the village on the ride the theming like is better than anything i didn't even know it had two lifts until i saw like the pov recently i'm like wait what i was like i had no idea this was a thing
00:44:49
Speaker
It was better than Phoenix rising, but I also liked Phoenix rising.
00:44:52
Speaker
I was like, this is like kind of cute for a family coaster and not, um, big bad wolf had like zero rattle.
00:45:03
Speaker
And I actually like after having ridden it, I wanted to ride it again.
00:45:07
Speaker
Like I wasn't going to wait, you know, like over an hour for it.
00:45:10
Speaker
But I was like, I would ride that again.
00:45:11
Speaker
It's not like a one and done, especially at night.
00:45:14
Speaker
I would love to go back and ride it at night because the on the zero car, the wolf eyes light up.
00:45:20
Speaker
So at night, like the eyes illuminate the village as you're going through and everything.
00:45:23
Speaker
That's super cool.
00:45:24
Speaker
That's really cool.
00:45:28
Speaker
Yeah, good for Busch Gardens.
00:45:29
Speaker
It felt like for me, it felt like a return to form, like the way that they used to theme rides like for Bolton was super well done.
00:45:36
Speaker
And it kind of feels like that more than it does Pantheon or and Dark Coaster was like kind of on the way to being a better like themed attraction.
00:45:44
Speaker
And Bip Godwolf kind of like brought it back to where it should be, I think.
00:45:49
Speaker
Yeah, I enjoyed it.
00:45:50
Speaker
It's a good family ride.
00:45:51
Speaker
My only complaint is they have so much room back there and they could have done something so much bigger and better.
00:45:58
Speaker
And now it's that room's gone, which it's a good ride.
00:46:02
Speaker
But I just I can't help but think of what if, you know, what if they could have that R&C that was rumored.
00:46:10
Speaker
And now it's like now that it's there and you see how little space is actually left.
00:46:14
Speaker
All they can really do is add a couple of flats, which I think they should do.
00:46:18
Speaker
scream and swing or something like that i think they should like kind of they already have a scream and swing i was gonna say it was like wait don't they have one i forgot about that i've never ride it yeah but even like a drop tower or like i don't know some kind of spinny something just to fill it out because right now it's the only thing back there and you kind of have to walk far to get back there so if there was another attraction it would really help yeah they gotta add some area yeah
00:46:44
Speaker
It was food and wine.
00:46:45
Speaker
I went over to dark coaster with Amelia and we waited a long time for that while my mom hung out with Benny in the arcade and playing with swords.
00:46:54
Speaker
Uh, and we finally got on it.
00:46:56
Speaker
We were still in line for Big Bad Wolf during that.
00:47:00
Speaker
Although you did get off of it before we got out of dark coaster because it took us.
00:47:04
Speaker
Um, and yeah, she did not love the ghosts.
00:47:14
Speaker
She's still a spooky girl in training.
00:47:19
Speaker
She liked Monsters and Chains, so it's there.
00:47:21
Speaker
I know, that's the wild thing.
00:47:24
Speaker
I'm excited to see what she... They don't know we're going to Disney.
00:47:28
Speaker
They don't know we're doing anything.
00:47:30
Speaker
They don't know about the trip upcoming, so they don't know that we're going back to Epic.
00:47:33
Speaker
She's like, when we go back to Epic one day, I'm like, girl, it's going to happen.
00:47:38
Speaker
It's sooner than you think.
00:47:40
Speaker
Yeah, we're still...
00:47:42
Speaker
Listeners, if you have any great ideas on how to surprise my kids, right now the working plan is we're going to pick them up from their dad's house and just have the stuff in the car and be like, if you guys could go anywhere right now, where would you want to go?
00:47:57
Speaker
Because 100% Amelia is saying Disney World, 100% of the time.
00:48:00
Speaker
And then I'm just going to be like, okay, let's go.
00:48:02
Speaker
And then we go to the airport.
00:48:03
Speaker
But if you have a better idea, let us know.
00:48:05
Speaker
I'm going to try to film it.
00:48:08
Speaker
Just have a mommy moment.
00:48:10
Speaker
I've always loved those videos of people surprising their kids with Disney trips and my kids know everything.
00:48:14
Speaker
So the fact that I've made it this far without spilling,
00:48:18
Speaker
Yeah, you got to do it that way then.
00:48:21
Speaker
Yeah, I'm pretty sure my parents did that one time.
00:48:23
Speaker
Like, they didn't tell us where we were driving.
00:48:25
Speaker
And then we just drove through like the Disney World marquee sign on the road.
00:48:30
Speaker
And we were like, what?
00:48:33
Speaker
I think they said we were going to Florida, but like to the beach or something.
00:48:36
Speaker
They like threw us off.
00:48:38
Speaker
Okay, whatever the beach.
00:48:40
Speaker
I was gonna say, did you guys not ask any questions for 12 hours?
00:48:46
Speaker
I mean, honestly, at that age, we probably fell asleep.
00:48:50
Speaker
It's going to be great.
00:48:55
Speaker
We saw Celtic fire.
00:49:05
Speaker
Isn't like food and wine going on right now, too?
00:49:07
Speaker
Did you guys try anything?
00:49:09
Speaker
We tried one thing.
00:49:14
Speaker
We had pierogies from Poland that were... I made the joke.
00:49:19
Speaker
I was like, watch, they're probably only going to give us three pierogies.
00:49:23
Speaker
Like, completely joking.
00:49:24
Speaker
And then we walk in and we see them and we get two pierogies.
00:49:31
Speaker
And the actual, like, part where it's, like, the pierogi, like, the inside was so small.
00:49:35
Speaker
It was mostly, like, the outer, like...
00:49:41
Speaker
I didn't eat anything until we ate that at like, what time was that?
00:49:43
Speaker
So I was, I was ready to eat anything, anything.
00:49:49
Speaker
It was, it was fine.
00:49:51
Speaker
And those are like, I think $7.
00:49:54
Speaker
I think I had my, my pass perks, the free food and wine with your platinum pass.
00:49:58
Speaker
So I wasn't too upset about it, but if I paid six or $7, I would have been very annoyed with two pierogies.
00:50:05
Speaker
What was the other thing you got?
00:50:07
Speaker
Amelia got cookies that we also made her share with us.
00:50:14
Speaker
So it was your cookies.
00:50:15
Speaker
That was part of food and wine?
00:50:17
Speaker
Yeah, the cookie was good.
00:50:19
Speaker
There was like, what were the fillings?
00:50:22
Speaker
One was raspberry, right?
00:50:23
Speaker
Raspberry and apricot.
00:50:26
Speaker
It was kind of like Kiffle style.
00:50:30
Speaker
Do you guys know Kiffles?
00:50:31
Speaker
Is that a Pennsylvania Dutch thing?
00:50:33
Speaker
I've never heard of it as
00:50:35
Speaker
If you guys know, if you listeners, all 24 of you know what a Kiffle is.
00:50:39
Speaker
It's a very Pennsylvania thing.
00:50:40
Speaker
It tasted like that.
00:50:42
Speaker
Which booth was that?
00:50:45
Speaker
Oh, that was Poland too.
00:50:48
Speaker
My mom and I, I didn't get any food.
00:50:51
Speaker
My mom and I went to, because Javi told me that I had to get my mom a drink.
00:50:59
Speaker
So we went to the, the sangria booth over in, by the Italy pavilion.
00:51:05
Speaker
And we both got the blood orange sangria.
00:51:08
Speaker
It was quite tasty.
00:51:10
Speaker
And we enjoyed it.
00:51:14
Speaker
We had a group ride takeover at Pompeii, which was a fail because it broke.
00:51:18
Speaker
And then they started doing an evac.
00:51:22
Speaker
People were stuck on the lift.
00:51:27
Speaker
We had a picnic for dinner.
00:51:29
Speaker
I think the overall feeling is that a dinner picnic is a win over a lunch picnic.
00:51:35
Speaker
This particular picnic was not our best picnic.
00:51:42
Speaker
What did they have?
00:51:44
Speaker
What we did right after the picnic was kind of iconic.
00:51:49
Speaker
Cause we went over to the bumper cars and took them over and it was perfect.
00:51:56
Speaker
Yeah, so picnic-wise, we had little fajita-style...
00:52:02
Speaker
What would you call those?
00:52:03
Speaker
Pork fajitas, yeah.
00:52:04
Speaker
They were just pork fajitas, kind of, with some veggies and cheese.
00:52:09
Speaker
We thought we were having orange chicken, but in fact, we had boiled hot dogs.
00:52:17
Speaker
That's such a downgrade.
00:52:18
Speaker
The bait and switch.
00:52:21
Speaker
We had mac and cheese, which was not as good as the BGT mac and cheese.
00:52:24
Speaker
Not even on the same playing field.
00:52:28
Speaker
I still can't believe the boiled hot dogs, though.
00:52:33
Speaker
They couldn't even grill them.
00:52:36
Speaker
They were, they didn't, no, they were like kind of grayish looking.
00:52:47
Speaker
And then I personally left at this point to take my children to shower and rest because I was still not feeling great.
00:52:55
Speaker
And I was kind of keeping my distance from people anyways.
00:52:58
Speaker
And I wanted Tom to be able to enjoy the rest of the event because he had helped me out.
00:53:03
Speaker
He let me go out for my birthday and was helping a lot with the kids, obviously.
00:53:06
Speaker
So I said, I'm tired.
00:53:08
Speaker
Why don't you enjoy the rest of the day?
00:53:14
Speaker
And he went out with you, so he missed the bumper car takeover.
00:53:17
Speaker
He missed the bumper cars.
00:53:18
Speaker
He wanted to do the bumper cars when he got back in the park, but everyone else was moving on.
00:53:22
Speaker
We were like, we just did that.
00:53:24
Speaker
Arafa, you were there for it.
00:53:27
Speaker
Tyler, were you there too?
00:53:32
Speaker
For the bumper cars?
00:53:34
Speaker
I left before the picnic.
00:53:39
Speaker
It was my dad's birthday.
00:53:40
Speaker
So it was just Rafa and I that were there, but it was a good time.
00:53:42
Speaker
Wait, what are you talking about?
00:53:44
Speaker
We wasn't even at the event.
00:53:45
Speaker
Oh, what am I thinking?
00:53:50
Speaker
I was like, wait, what are you talking about?
00:53:52
Speaker
That's how it went.
00:53:53
Speaker
People were getting ready.
00:53:54
Speaker
I think it's because Bethany and Caleb are right there and you're always with them.
00:53:59
Speaker
So I was just like, yep, you were there.
00:54:00
Speaker
I did do it with everybody last year in Hollywood Nights.
00:54:04
Speaker
That's where we have those great pictures.
00:54:07
Speaker
I'm not a bumper cars girly.
00:54:08
Speaker
I hate bumper cars.
00:54:11
Speaker
But our group was so big that three rounds, there were three rounds of bumper cars that happened.
00:54:17
Speaker
And then like in the middle round, people were just randomly chanting people's names.
00:54:20
Speaker
And it was, and that was the round where he was driving around with a drink.
00:54:31
Speaker
I've never seen something like that.
00:54:40
Speaker
Did you get to ride other stuff?
00:54:43
Speaker
Because I rode nothing.
00:54:45
Speaker
Well, I. So I went around with my mom and we did like Griffin, Alpengeist, Apollo, with the single rider lines.
00:54:54
Speaker
And then after the bumper cars, I found Tom and we went and did.
00:55:01
Speaker
First, I got all this beer.
00:55:03
Speaker
And then we went over to Apollo and rode that again just before our Pantheon ERT started, which was an experience.
00:55:15
Speaker
I'm just seeing the picture now.
00:55:17
Speaker
I just saw it, too.
00:55:23
Speaker
Why does it look so good?
00:55:27
Speaker
It looks like I'm actually behind you.
00:55:29
Speaker
Is that just your face?
00:55:31
Speaker
Like the jean jacket isn't that part behind you?
00:55:33
Speaker
No, that's my outfit.
00:55:36
Speaker
That's my whole body there.
00:55:40
Speaker
The funny part is that you look good and the rest of us are washed out.
00:55:46
Speaker
We need to post that on Trills, Trills, and Spills, please.
00:55:54
Speaker
Also, where's the rest of my leg?
00:55:57
Speaker
Oh my God, just notice, where is your leg?
00:56:01
Speaker
Kelly Smith's leg.
00:56:05
Speaker
Oh wait, are you like holding it up?
00:56:06
Speaker
Are you flamingoing?
00:56:10
Speaker
Like it looks like they cut.
00:56:13
Speaker
It looks like it was cut off in the picture.
00:56:17
Speaker
This is a cursed image.
00:56:19
Speaker
Also, like I pointed this out before, but look at Tom squatting in the background.
00:56:28
Speaker
I need to know, is your leg bent up or is this just... I don't know.
00:56:32
Speaker
I'm pretty sure she has it picked up, I think.
00:56:36
Speaker
That is kind of what I do.
00:56:38
Speaker
I definitely do that.
00:56:40
Speaker
I definitely pick up my leg when I'm drinking.
00:56:42
Speaker
I'm just seeing myself.
00:56:44
Speaker
Because look at the floor.
00:56:45
Speaker
Like, I don't think...
00:56:49
Speaker
Like the floor where her leg should be looks correct.
00:56:52
Speaker
So I don't think that was like AI'd out.
00:56:56
Speaker
People are going to be like, what the heck are you even talking about?
00:56:59
Speaker
We need to post it.
00:57:00
Speaker
We will post this on our Instagram.
00:57:06
Speaker
We have to post it on there.
00:57:09
Speaker
I'm literally coughing into the mic and crying.
00:57:13
Speaker
Everything's fine.
00:57:19
Speaker
uh pantheon ert um i guess i was the only one there so uh it was fun it's a fun ride um it's fun at night it was running fast um the middle the middle of our ert got interrupted by horses
00:57:38
Speaker
that needed to like, they needed to walk them through the, the, the, the plaza of the ride to get them to their pastor.
00:57:45
Speaker
And they didn't want them to like jump and, and get scared by the sounds of the ride.
00:57:49
Speaker
So they like stopped operations for like 10 minutes to walk some horses around.
00:57:53
Speaker
But yeah, it was really fun.
00:57:55
Speaker
It was very hype energy in the station.
00:57:58
Speaker
Some wild things were said, which I will repeat here.
00:58:02
Speaker
Yeah, it was really fun.
00:58:08
Speaker
I wish I was there.
00:58:10
Speaker
And then I think we all went home.
00:58:13
Speaker
Did anything happen like the day after everyone just went their way, their own ways.
00:58:16
Speaker
Like right after the back.
00:58:20
Speaker
It was a long drive.
00:58:23
Speaker
And Tyler, I think some people stopped in King's minion again.
00:58:29
Speaker
I think we're like, went to us.
00:58:31
Speaker
Some people went to go carts plus, which has a little plus one.
00:58:36
Speaker
Some people went to Colonial Williamsburg.
00:58:41
Speaker
I don't think there was much going on.
00:58:43
Speaker
It was, it was fun though.
00:58:44
Speaker
It was, so we've only been like doing these event surveys for three events so far, but it's our highest rated event of the year.
00:58:54
Speaker
So I think everybody had a good time.
00:58:55
Speaker
It looked like a good time.
00:58:58
Speaker
It's kind of nice to have two parks in one event.
00:59:02
Speaker
The extended weekend helped us a lot with that, but yeah.
00:59:06
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like our organized activities went pretty smoothly.
00:59:09
Speaker
Everything, there were no major issues or hiccups, which is nice from a planning perspective, too.
00:59:19
Speaker
Well, unfortunately, I didn't have you guys with me at Hollywood Nights the following week.
00:59:25
Speaker
I wish some of you were there.
00:59:28
Speaker
Kelly, I thought you had gotten tickets.
00:59:33
Speaker
Well, we got the code or whatever, but then because I'm taking so much time off in June, I knew that I was going to be put on the schedule to work, and I just couldn't know in enough time whether or not which weekend it was going to be.
00:59:47
Speaker
So I probably, we could have gone.
00:59:48
Speaker
I'm glad I didn't.
00:59:50
Speaker
I worked actually this coming weekend, so I could have gone.
00:59:52
Speaker
It would have been crammed, though.
00:59:54
Speaker
Yeah, it was just a lot, and I was still not feeling the best this past weekend, so I don't know if it would have been the best time.
01:00:01
Speaker
Well, I was off and I tried to get tickets, but apparently people get codes and then don't use them.
01:00:08
Speaker
So I couldn't get a ticket.
01:00:12
Speaker
I would have loved to be there, Rafa.
01:00:18
Speaker
You did not want to go.
01:00:20
Speaker
I tried to get a ticket at the beginning.
01:00:23
Speaker
At the beginning with everyone else.
01:00:26
Speaker
I do want to go soon though.
01:00:27
Speaker
Like hopefully next year.
01:00:29
Speaker
I would like to go next year, but yeah, this year I was like, let me give other people a chance.
01:00:33
Speaker
It's not an every year event for me, but like every three years I think is pretty good.
01:00:38
Speaker
But we still had, I think like 22 ish, like buzz bars people there, which is great.
01:00:43
Speaker
It felt really small though.
01:00:45
Speaker
Everybody was kind of spread out.
01:00:46
Speaker
Um, everybody was kind of doing their own thing.
01:00:50
Speaker
Like it was just like a bunch of like little groups and we all were together, um, during the Thanksgiving dinner on that second night.
01:00:59
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, it was, it went really well.
01:01:01
Speaker
It was a lot of fun.
01:01:02
Speaker
The first day when we got there, we got to the park a little bit later.
01:01:06
Speaker
We arrived around two o'clock and it was storming.
01:01:10
Speaker
So we had to like wait at one of the restaurants at the front.
01:01:15
Speaker
And, and yeah, we didn't start writing until, well, we tried doing the walk back tour when we got there, but they kept pushing it back.
01:01:22
Speaker
Like it kept, it was like, okay, a half hour, another half hour.
01:01:25
Speaker
Now we're going to wait an hour.
01:01:26
Speaker
And eventually we were going to go and then we're like, you know what, maybe it might not be the best idea because it just started pouring again.
01:01:33
Speaker
And we just know that it's going to be super muddy in that area.
01:01:36
Speaker
So we were like, forget it.
01:01:40
Speaker
But besides that, I mean, the weather was great for the rest of the weekend.
01:01:45
Speaker
That night, I didn't do water park ERT because I didn't want to freeze my ass off.
01:01:50
Speaker
I was going to ask.
01:01:52
Speaker
Yeah, it was like colder than normal this year.
01:01:54
Speaker
And last year I was freezing and I was like, I don't think I could do it this year again.
01:01:58
Speaker
Like that was too cold for me.
01:02:00
Speaker
I don't think I want to do it.
01:02:02
Speaker
I did do water park.
01:02:03
Speaker
I did do the water park slides the following day when it was a lot warmer.
01:02:08
Speaker
But that ERT time, I know no way I was going to do that.
01:02:11
Speaker
And I didn't see too many people do it either because of the weather.
01:02:15
Speaker
I think it was like lower 60s.
01:02:18
Speaker
Yeah, not it was in it was not a good temperature for me, at least that there's no way I'm doing that.
01:02:26
Speaker
But yeah, ERT was great.
01:02:27
Speaker
I mean, there's nothing new to the event.
01:02:29
Speaker
I mean, it's Hollywood Nights.
01:02:31
Speaker
It's the same, just a new theme, really.
01:02:36
Speaker
It was spooky themed, but I feel like, I think this is my one little complaint, and I understand that, like...
01:02:42
Speaker
Hollywood Nights isn't meant... The theme is not what brings people in.
01:02:47
Speaker
It's the coaster ERT.
01:02:50
Speaker
It's very, very light.
01:02:52
Speaker
But I feel like... I don't know.
01:02:54
Speaker
I feel like they could have done something with the Beetlejuice.
01:02:58
Speaker
You at least hear the music because they usually play the music in the park.
01:03:01
Speaker
That was one thing that I don't know if I just wasn't paying attention, but I didn't hear it much.
01:03:07
Speaker
But I do remember hearing the soundtrack music from Hunger Games last year.
01:03:11
Speaker
That's, I heard that a lot, but this year I didn't really hear the Beetlejuice music that much.
01:03:16
Speaker
Maybe I wasn't paying attention.
01:03:18
Speaker
Um, but yeah, I don't know.
01:03:19
Speaker
I feel like this year I was hoping for them to do a little more with the Beetlejuice theme, maybe like put the music in more places.
01:03:27
Speaker
Cause I, there were areas that were kind of quiet.
01:03:31
Speaker
But yeah, besides that, it was pretty fun.
01:03:33
Speaker
It was a good weekend.
01:03:36
Speaker
Day two was pretty smooth because the weather was perfect.
01:03:43
Speaker
How's Voyage running?
01:03:45
Speaker
Oh, it's running great.
01:03:47
Speaker
It doesn't have that kink anymore, like right before the midcourse.
01:03:51
Speaker
Which I was worried about.
01:03:52
Speaker
That was the only reason why I didn't ride with my hands up last year at all.
01:03:56
Speaker
Because I was like, I'm trying to brace myself because it hurts.
01:04:00
Speaker
But yeah, this year I was able to, you know, arms up without any problem, without any issues.
01:04:06
Speaker
So that was fixed.
01:04:07
Speaker
So it feels great.
01:04:10
Speaker
Besides that, I mean, Raven is... A lot of people were complaining about Raven.
01:04:15
Speaker
I thought it was great.
01:04:17
Speaker
I didn't see a problem with it, but some people felt it kind of rough.
01:04:23
Speaker
And Thunderbird is... Thunderbird is my second favorite dark ride there, like night ride there.
01:04:30
Speaker
I love Thunderbird.
01:04:31
Speaker
I feel like people sleep on it because it's so far back and nobody goes there.
01:04:36
Speaker
But I love that thing.
01:04:38
Speaker
But that was great.
01:04:40
Speaker
And, and yeah, and at the very end, we got the little, little like Hollywood Knights, like pins that they always give out, but it was like Beetlejuice themed.
01:04:49
Speaker
which was pretty cute.
01:04:51
Speaker
But yeah, besides that, that was about it.
01:04:54
Speaker
There wasn't much, there wasn't anything new about this year's event.
01:04:57
Speaker
It's the same event as always, really just a new theme.
01:04:59
Speaker
The only thing I noticed was it looked like Voyage got busier than normal or like than the last couple years.
01:05:06
Speaker
It felt busier than last year.
01:05:06
Speaker
They don't usually open the basement like that.
01:05:08
Speaker
And I was like, oh gosh, they're down there.
01:05:10
Speaker
And they opened it this year and I was like, oh, I was like, okay, I wasn't expecting that.
01:05:14
Speaker
Yeah, interesting.
01:05:15
Speaker
They were running, they were going very quickly.
01:05:18
Speaker
So I wasn't too...
01:05:19
Speaker
I wasn't too worried about that.
01:05:21
Speaker
But yeah, pretty good, solid year this year.
01:05:24
Speaker
I have no complaints.
01:05:27
Speaker
Missed you guys there.
01:05:28
Speaker
But yeah, I did tell myself, I was like, you know what?
01:05:31
Speaker
I was like, I don't think I'll go next year.
01:05:32
Speaker
And then I was like, damn it.
01:05:33
Speaker
I think I'll go next year.
01:05:34
Speaker
Because then I'm going to have FOMO because then you three are going to get tickets and I won't have tickets.
01:05:40
Speaker
So I need to... I will not probably go.
01:05:43
Speaker
Okay, well, right.
01:05:46
Speaker
Just in case, maybe two of you will be there, but I just don't want that FOMO.
01:05:52
Speaker
And it's a good time.
01:05:52
Speaker
It was a great time, so I'll definitely go back.
01:05:54
Speaker
I'll probably try for next year.
01:05:56
Speaker
I hope to be there.
01:05:57
Speaker
I really need to do a Midwest park cleanup.
01:06:00
Speaker
Nice long road trip.
01:06:01
Speaker
Hopefully next summer.
01:06:04
Speaker
This year, my Hollywood Nights is just in October.
01:06:10
Speaker
Which the weather should be great.
01:06:13
Speaker
I mean, we did it last year and it was so much fun that I was like, let's just do it again next year.
01:06:20
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, when it comes to the event itself, I really don't have much else to add on to it.
01:06:24
Speaker
It's the same event as every year.
01:06:26
Speaker
But it was a good time.
01:06:27
Speaker
It was nice to see a couple of Buzzbars people.
01:06:32
Speaker
But yeah, hope to go back next year.
01:06:35
Speaker
And I did get to go to King's Island for the first time.
01:06:38
Speaker
I had never gone before.
01:06:40
Speaker
Yeah, that was my first time going to that park.
01:06:43
Speaker
And I really enjoyed it.
01:06:44
Speaker
I thought it was fine.
01:06:46
Speaker
It felt very Cedar Fair.
01:06:48
Speaker
It was my first time.
01:06:49
Speaker
And I was like, okay, I kind of...
01:06:51
Speaker
I'm starting to see the similarities.
01:06:53
Speaker
But like you guys were saying, King's Dominion, I do love the greenery all around the park and all the trees and everything.
01:07:01
Speaker
Over here, it feels so open and kind of city-like because there's not many trees, at least in that main area.
01:07:08
Speaker
A lot of concrete.
01:07:10
Speaker
A lot of concrete, yeah.
01:07:11
Speaker
So it doesn't feel like... It doesn't have that same vibe as King's Dominion.
01:07:18
Speaker
But I did enjoy it.
01:07:23
Speaker
I was dead that day.
01:07:24
Speaker
After two days of Hollywood Nights, I didn't have much energy.
01:07:27
Speaker
So I didn't get all the creds there, but I got most of them.
01:07:32
Speaker
Mystic was my favorite, of course.
01:07:35
Speaker
And Adventure Express.
01:07:38
Speaker
I love Adventure Express.
01:07:40
Speaker
It's the cutest, like, mine train.
01:07:47
Speaker
I was surprised by that.
01:07:48
Speaker
I didn't know anything about it going into it.
01:07:50
Speaker
I have a hot take.
01:07:53
Speaker
I have a Kings Island hot take.
01:07:54
Speaker
This should have been my coaster hot take.
01:07:57
Speaker
My favorite ride at Kings Island is Banshee.
01:08:06
Speaker
How did you love it?
01:08:07
Speaker
Oh my god, it's so good.
01:08:09
Speaker
No, it was so rough.
Coaster Expectations and European Trip Plans
01:08:12
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know.
01:08:13
Speaker
I wanted to love it so bad.
01:08:16
Speaker
The layout looks cool.
01:08:18
Speaker
The drop is so good.
01:08:20
Speaker
The drop was the only part that I liked.
01:08:28
Speaker
The rest of it, I was like, what is going on?
01:08:30
Speaker
This feels way too rough.
01:08:31
Speaker
Like, I don't know.
01:08:32
Speaker
I just, it wasn't for me.
01:08:34
Speaker
I really wanted to like it.
01:08:36
Speaker
I'll be in an inverts or mid.
01:08:37
Speaker
You're both wrong.
01:08:43
Speaker
If we have any haters listening, I stand by this.
01:08:47
Speaker
Although I will say Banshee is like top five of the mid.
01:08:57
Speaker
Amongst the 20 Batman clones or however you are.
01:08:59
Speaker
You're getting it started.
01:09:05
Speaker
Vanshee, I really wanted to love it, but I didn't, unfortunately.
01:09:08
Speaker
But yeah, fun park.
01:09:10
Speaker
I had a very good time there.
01:09:13
Speaker
But like I said, I was beat.
01:09:14
Speaker
So I was like, you know what?
01:09:16
Speaker
I'm going to get the creds that I can get.
01:09:19
Speaker
I'll be back eventually.
01:09:21
Speaker
So because of that, I won't be milestone-ing in Fantasjaland anymore.
01:09:24
Speaker
It'll be in Chessington.
01:09:26
Speaker
So it's a European cred anyway.
01:09:29
Speaker
So I'm happy with it.
01:09:31
Speaker
Mine might happen there too.
01:09:37
Speaker
But then moving on, we do have...
01:09:42
Speaker
Europe, Europe coming soon has, you know, good little segue.
01:09:46
Speaker
Now that I mentioned that I won't be milestoneing and infantage land, but what do we have to say about the upcoming stumble?
01:09:56
Speaker
It's like big consuming my life.
01:10:00
Speaker
I think we're ready.
01:10:03
Speaker
We have planned this event for a year.
01:10:08
Speaker
It's crazy how long that we've been working on this and that the fact that it's like three weeks away is kind of crazy.
01:10:12
Speaker
And the amount of like effort is more for this trip than any other event like combining them.
01:10:21
Speaker
The spreadsheets are wild.
01:10:23
Speaker
Hopefully everything goes okay.
01:10:25
Speaker
Yeah, we're just going to cross our fingers and hope for the best.
01:10:29
Speaker
It's going to be great.
01:10:31
Speaker
70 something of us will be going to the UK.
01:10:35
Speaker
Rafa, you guys are doing some fun stuff beforehand at Parks I Wish I was going to.
01:10:42
Speaker
We'll be there for a couple days.
01:10:44
Speaker
I was actually looking here.
01:10:45
Speaker
We fly out in 13 days, which is so crazy to say.
01:10:49
Speaker
Are you staying on property?
01:10:51
Speaker
We, yeah, we're staying at, um, at the Charles Lindbergh.
01:10:55
Speaker
Oh, you're doing Lindbergh.
01:10:57
Speaker
We're staying there.
01:10:58
Speaker
We're staying in Cologne for the first few nights.
01:11:01
Speaker
Um, cause we arrived on that Thursday, the Thursday before the stumble.
01:11:06
Speaker
And then we check in, we're only staying for one night.
01:11:09
Speaker
That's the way to do it.
01:11:11
Speaker
We're only doing one night so we can get our two park days.
01:11:14
Speaker
Um, and then after that, we're going to stay at an, um, at a hotel closer to the airport.
01:11:20
Speaker
And then after that, we'll meet up with everybody over in London.
01:11:23
Speaker
Don't skip breakfast.
01:11:24
Speaker
Oh, no, no, I'm not skipping any of it.
01:11:26
Speaker
Oh, don't skip the spreads at breakfast specifically.
01:11:31
Speaker
There's like a, it's not Nutella, but there is some kind of chocolate, something spread down there.
01:11:41
Speaker
Do you like crepes?
01:11:44
Speaker
Kelly's about to say something about crepes.
01:11:48
Speaker
The Nutella triggered the thought.
01:11:51
Speaker
Over in Klukheim, right next to Taryn, there's like a little beer garden area.
01:11:57
Speaker
There's a crepe stand.
01:11:58
Speaker
You all have to get them.
01:12:01
Speaker
Okay, we'll definitely go there.
01:12:07
Speaker
I'm so excited to go.
01:12:08
Speaker
It's my second favorite crepe I've ever had.
01:12:12
Speaker
Wait, you said it's Nutella?
01:12:13
Speaker
It's a Nutella one?
01:12:15
Speaker
There's various ones.
01:12:17
Speaker
I got a savory one and it was good.
01:12:19
Speaker
Like ham and something, cheese, I think.
01:12:21
Speaker
Yeah, it was good.
01:12:22
Speaker
And then the ice cream place.
01:12:23
Speaker
You can't skip the ice cream place.
01:12:25
Speaker
The only bad thing that I consistently hear about food there, because most of it's really good, is the focaccias.
01:12:30
Speaker
Do not get a focaccia.
01:12:32
Speaker
No, they're not good?
01:12:34
Speaker
They look good in the case.
01:12:36
Speaker
They're not great.
01:12:37
Speaker
It's like fine, but I wouldn't get it.
01:12:40
Speaker
It tasted like Chef Boyardee sauce or something.
01:12:46
Speaker
Not the Chef Boyardee.
01:12:49
Speaker
Yeah, everything else is good.
01:12:51
Speaker
I just hope that going to such a good park doesn't ruin other parks for you towards the end of the trip.
01:12:59
Speaker
It doesn't get better than that, Rafa.
01:13:02
Speaker
I'm going into this expecting that, but I'm excited.
01:13:06
Speaker
I can't wait to hear all of your thoughts.
01:13:08
Speaker
Obviously, we'll talk about your thoughts on here, but I can't wait to see all your thoughts in real time, too.
01:13:19
Speaker
And then some of us before that official stumble are also going to Ireland and Emerald Park.
01:13:25
Speaker
Very excited for that.
01:13:27
Speaker
I am excited for that.
01:13:28
Speaker
Actually, they're two bigger coasters.
01:13:30
Speaker
Both look excellent.
01:13:34
Speaker
And then we're going to...
01:13:36
Speaker
Chessington and Paul Tins and Thorpe and Alton and Blackpool Pleasure Beach as part of the official stumble.
01:13:43
Speaker
And then some people are going to Drayton Manor and Linamaki and everywhere else.
01:13:49
Speaker
People are going all over the place.
01:13:52
Speaker
We'll talk, I guess, about our stuff after.
01:13:55
Speaker
We're going to have multiple episodes.
01:13:56
Speaker
We're going to have to.
01:13:58
Speaker
No way one episode is going to be.
01:14:01
Speaker
We'll probably do like a stumble only episode and then the rest of our other extraneous stuff.
01:14:08
Speaker
We'll figure out how to organize it.
01:14:10
Speaker
I'm just glad we're all going though.
01:14:13
Speaker
Yes, I won't be making it.
01:14:15
Speaker
We're going to be together.
01:14:16
Speaker
For the first time since January, we're going to be all together.
01:14:19
Speaker
Since January, that is crazy.
01:14:21
Speaker
There will be photos.
01:14:23
Speaker
Yes, there will be plenty.
01:14:25
Speaker
No Photoshop photos with Kelly's missing leg.
01:14:27
Speaker
We'll do some spooky Stonehenge photos.
01:14:32
Speaker
We'll do some spooky attraction photos.
01:14:34
Speaker
There are some spooky attractions.
01:14:36
Speaker
The UK loves their spooky stuff.
01:14:37
Speaker
We'll have that to cover.
01:14:41
Speaker
What are you guys most excited for out of the entire trip?
Halloween Horror Nights Speculation
01:14:47
Speaker
I think Alton, just the park in general.
01:14:51
Speaker
Alton out of the parks, Hyperia for the coasters.
01:14:57
Speaker
I know you guys are a bunch of B&M invert haters, but I'm really excited for Nemesis.
01:15:03
Speaker
Very, very excited.
01:15:04
Speaker
I don't want to get overhyped, so I'm just like leaving it there.
01:15:09
Speaker
Very excited for that.
01:15:14
Speaker
But yes, enough about our future trips, but we finally have some HHN updates.
01:15:22
Speaker
Starting off with a static video that the official HHN page released, which was...
01:15:30
Speaker
Do we want to call it a hint or something?
01:15:32
Speaker
Because I didn't see anything.
01:15:34
Speaker
People were decoding it.
01:15:35
Speaker
And I'm like, what are we decoding?
01:15:37
Speaker
Because I don't see anything.
01:15:38
Speaker
I tried to so hard.
01:15:40
Speaker
It's like they did a teaser like this last year.
01:15:42
Speaker
And you could like kind of pick out little things in it.
01:15:45
Speaker
Somebody was able to like it does look in the middle of the screen with the static like words sometimes or like letters.
01:15:52
Speaker
And people were able to like freeze frame it and read some text.
01:15:57
Speaker
I was trying to take pictures of screenshots of it on the desktop and then like enhance them, but I didn't save them.
01:16:04
Speaker
And then I was like, well, I just wasted 40 minutes of my life that I'm not going to do over.
01:16:09
Speaker
So it's not that important.
01:16:11
Speaker
People were saying on the internet that they could like hear certain things or I don't know.
01:16:16
Speaker
I don't think these videos are ever really helpful, but I'm happy that they are engaging with the people.
01:16:24
Speaker
And I feel like, I don't know, when I first saw it, like, everybody went into thinking that, oh, it has to do with a specific IP that we might be getting.
01:16:32
Speaker
But I just feel like this is just, like, to add to, like, the theme of the year.
01:16:36
Speaker
Or, like, for, like, the trailer and the TV commercials, like, you know, for this year.
01:16:40
Speaker
I don't really see it as, like, a theme to a house or anything like that.
01:16:44
Speaker
We might be able to go back and find something after the fact.
01:16:47
Speaker
But I feel like it's more of just, like, a...
01:16:50
Speaker
hello, is everybody listening because things are going to happen soon type of thing.
01:16:55
Speaker
The Horror Nights accounts are alive.
01:17:00
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like they were doing that and they were prepping for an announcement, but then shortly after it was leaked by Blumhouse, right?
01:17:14
Speaker
There's a panel in Mexico City that Blumhouse was doing.
01:17:19
Speaker
So it was leaked that Five Nights at Freddy's was coming to HHN, which we've been predicting.
01:17:25
Speaker
But now we have some confirmation on that because they are not saying that it's a haunted house or a maze.
01:17:34
Speaker
They're calling it like a brand new experience.
01:17:37
Speaker
Which I don't know that.
01:17:41
Speaker
Like a brand new way or something like that.
01:17:43
Speaker
Also posted at 8.37pm on a Sunday.
01:17:49
Speaker
I called it out on Twitter and they responded to me.
01:17:53
Speaker
That Horror Nights account responded to me.
01:17:55
Speaker
We don't follow the rules.
01:18:00
Speaker
You don't or Blumhouse panels don't.
01:18:04
Speaker
Which I kind of called it last time because I did, I remember mentioning that there's always a situation that it's leaked.
01:18:11
Speaker
One of the IPs are leaked early on and ended up happening.
01:18:16
Speaker
It's not surprising that it's Five Nights at Freddy's because that's, you know, the new Blumhouse movie coming out later on.
01:18:22
Speaker
So it makes sense for it to have been leaked.
01:18:25
Speaker
I mean, I'm not surprised.
01:18:27
Speaker
I watched the movie last night.
01:18:29
Speaker
I did my homework.
01:18:36
Speaker
To me, it was very corny.
01:18:39
Speaker
So here are my thoughts.
01:18:42
Speaker
The movie started.
01:18:43
Speaker
I was like, Josh Hutcherson, my sweet PETA, is the main guy in this movie?
01:18:49
Speaker
Not the sweet PETA.
01:18:50
Speaker
I didn't know that.
01:18:54
Speaker
um love me love me some Josh Hutcherson um but after that the acting he did fine but the rest of the acting was terrible yeah terrible and like I can get behind the theme of like a haunted Chucky Cheese I'm here for that but like I don't know I just feel like
01:19:18
Speaker
I don't know how much I can see this being like a house.
01:19:20
Speaker
I also don't really understand why this is like the pop culture horror reference amongst the teenage population right now.
01:19:27
Speaker
I think it's more because of the games and the movie.
01:19:28
Speaker
That's what I was going to say because of the video game.
01:19:32
Speaker
Did you guys see this wild post on Reddit?
01:19:35
Speaker
Does anyone know what I'm talking about from the teenager?
01:19:39
Speaker
I'm going to read it.
01:19:40
Speaker
I'm going to read it.
01:19:43
Speaker
hold on scrolling this movie has a 32 on rotten tomatoes by the way it's not very good it's not good it's not good it's not good like i could see the characters being in a house but i feel like this should have if it's gonna be its own house i don't see it as like i don't see it being that great it should have been like a split thing with like megan or whatever yeah it's enough to hold its own
01:20:08
Speaker
Especially in a soundstage, which is where the most recent version of the map had it.
01:20:12
Speaker
That's really been bothering me.
01:20:13
Speaker
I can see this in Fast and Furious more than anything else.
01:20:18
Speaker
It literally, the movie screams that location.
01:20:22
Speaker
Okay, listen to this.
01:20:24
Speaker
The post says, how can I convince my mom to let me go to HHN?
01:20:30
Speaker
So I'm 14 and right now five nights at Freddy's is the most important media to me and has been for a couple of years.
01:20:37
Speaker
In short, if I don't go this year, I will regret it for the rest of my life.
01:20:40
Speaker
My mother thinks that I'm crazy for wanting to go.
01:20:42
Speaker
She literally thinks I'll die of a heart attack.
01:20:44
Speaker
I know she wants to protect me, but I really think it's doing more harm than good ideas.
01:20:57
Speaker
We have annual passes.
01:20:58
Speaker
I'd be going with my adult sister and her friends or with my father.
01:21:01
Speaker
I share my location at all times.
01:21:03
Speaker
I have medium scare tolerance and I enjoy the feeling.
01:21:06
Speaker
My father would be driving.
01:21:08
Speaker
I won't regret it for the rest of my life.
01:21:11
Speaker
By the way, I know that won't do me any good.
01:21:16
Speaker
This is what we are going to get at HHN because of this IP.
01:21:21
Speaker
That is hilarious.
01:21:24
Speaker
What are the comments?
01:21:25
Speaker
That's what I need to know.
01:21:26
Speaker
What are the ideas, the suggestions?
01:21:28
Speaker
Yeah, what's the top idea?
01:21:32
Speaker
Get an Uber, 14-year-old.
01:21:43
Speaker
He's going to regret it for his whole life.
01:21:48
Speaker
It's a medium scare tolerance for me.
01:21:51
Speaker
Medium scare tolerance.
01:21:53
Speaker
You're leaving out a lot of important details.
01:21:56
Speaker
Does your family have?
01:21:56
Speaker
Okay, so he answered that.
01:21:58
Speaker
Would you be going alone?
01:21:59
Speaker
Does your mom worry about you going alone?
01:22:01
Speaker
Can you handle scares?
01:22:02
Speaker
Was your mom right about that?
01:22:03
Speaker
The event ends at 2 a.m.
01:22:04
Speaker
That's not a reasonable drive home for most.
01:22:08
Speaker
That's past your bedtime, 14-year-old.
01:22:11
Speaker
Yeah, not that a 14-year-old's driving anyway.
01:22:13
Speaker
You need to think about and discuss with your mom her comfort level as well.
01:22:17
Speaker
It's also not fair to or safe to ask a parent to drive two hours back home after an event ends at 2 a.m.
01:22:22
Speaker
Bring someone you trust.
01:22:24
Speaker
Mom took the never go alone tagline too seriously.
01:22:32
Speaker
This feels really mean.
01:22:34
Speaker
I see myself saying some shit like that when I was 14.
01:22:40
Speaker
Bless you, 14-year-old wanting to go to HHN.
01:22:43
Speaker
It's going to be great.
01:22:44
Speaker
Yeah, you should go.
01:22:45
Speaker
Just go and do Five Nights at Freddy's and just go back home.
01:22:49
Speaker
You'll make it home early.
01:22:52
Speaker
Don't do Terrifier, please.
01:22:56
Speaker
Mom would lose it.
01:22:57
Speaker
Mom would not be okay.
01:23:01
Speaker
So what do we think about the third bench?
01:23:05
Speaker
So I went back on Twitter and I looked back to their announcement last year and their first house and the subsequent ones.
01:23:13
Speaker
They specifically said house announcement.
01:23:16
Speaker
And this one, they did not say anything like that.
01:23:18
Speaker
So I thought that was really interesting.
01:23:21
Speaker
Like everything points to it being a house that we've seen, except for this announcement.
01:23:27
Speaker
And like there's somebody on Reddit.
01:23:28
Speaker
Maybe it was part of the scramble though.
01:23:30
Speaker
Maybe it was part of just like the, oh my God, we have to like,
01:23:34
Speaker
Somebody else pointed out that it was a photo op at the event last year.
01:23:41
Speaker
So a new way could be referring to a different way than it's been at HHN before because it has.
01:23:49
Speaker
I remember two years ago they had a Chucky exhibit, like photo op exhibit in Cabana Bay.
01:23:57
Speaker
And I was thinking maybe they're going to do something similar to that for Five Nights at Freddy's.
01:24:02
Speaker
I think that's what it was.
01:24:05
Speaker
I think that's what they did.
01:24:07
Speaker
with it before oh probably yeah i mean i didn't i i remember the chucky one but i don't remember the five nights i'll have to double check on that but yeah i mean and there's somebody who claims to have intel on reddit on the halloween horror nights reddit that's claiming that they're basically like it's a house it's a house and like for me that's just kind of the occam's razor of it all is like the most simplest solution is it and that would be that it's a house but if it's not that would be kind of interesting
01:24:35
Speaker
Yeah, maybe they're doing like, it might still be in the Fast and Furious area.
01:24:41
Speaker
And what if it's like a Blumhouse?
01:24:43
Speaker
It very well could be.
01:24:44
Speaker
Those locations are not good.
01:24:45
Speaker
And it's just maybe it leads into the scare zone.
01:24:47
Speaker
Like maybe it like extends its way out to the scare zone where it kind of fits in.
01:24:52
Speaker
Like you're exiting the house.
01:24:54
Speaker
But then you go into the zone and it's like the Five Nights at Freddy's or something like that.
01:24:58
Speaker
Because there are several Blumhouse movies coming out this year.
01:25:01
Speaker
Like you have Megan, you have Five Nights at Freddy's, and Black Phone 2 comes out, I think, later this year as well.
01:25:08
Speaker
So maybe it could be a Blumhouse.
01:25:11
Speaker
And thinking back to the very first spec map, that's where they had that toy chest with the doll on it for Megan.
01:25:18
Speaker
And then there was a rabbit and everybody, now I get it, the yellow rabbit thing could, I don't know.
01:25:24
Speaker
It might still be possible.
01:25:25
Speaker
I would... I feel like I would feel better with that in that location.
01:25:30
Speaker
What was in the... Oh, the campfire was there on the most recent version.
01:25:38
Speaker
Those should flip.
01:25:40
Speaker
If those two IPs are both coming, they should flip locations.
01:25:47
Speaker
I have no idea what this is.
01:25:48
Speaker
I don't know what they mean by that.
01:25:49
Speaker
I'm surprised that they would go about it that way and it being a house.
01:25:52
Speaker
Because it's like...
01:25:54
Speaker
Like you're saying like in an all new way, but you're not going to say house announcement.
01:25:59
Speaker
Like, but then people are claiming that it is a house, but I don't know.
01:26:03
Speaker
Maybe they just, because they announced it early, they have their like order of the way they want to announce the houses and it will come be an announcement later.
01:26:11
Speaker
Like where it says house announcement.
01:26:13
Speaker
Maybe it was just, I mean, that was the other rumor.
01:26:15
Speaker
Was it like tomorrow, which presumably this is going to release tomorrow.
01:26:20
Speaker
So today on June 5th,
01:26:22
Speaker
there is going to be an HHN house announcement is the rumor.
01:26:26
Speaker
And also the rumor says that it was not supposed to be Five Nights at Freddy's.
01:26:30
Speaker
So it probably is going to be a different house.
01:26:32
Speaker
What do you guys think?
01:26:34
Speaker
What do you guys think it's going to be?
01:26:36
Speaker
I think Friday the 13th because of Friday the 13th being next week.
01:26:42
Speaker
But what if they announced that on Friday the 13th?
01:26:46
Speaker
That's why, I don't know, I have a feeling that's going to be the first announcement.
01:26:49
Speaker
I don't think anything's coming soon.
01:26:51
Speaker
Before that, but who knows?
01:26:54
Speaker
I could get on board with Fallout, especially with some of that cryptic stuff that's going on on Reddit.
01:27:01
Speaker
And especially since like Five Nights at Freddy's, I don't know that they would go ahead and do like Terrifier right away.
01:27:07
Speaker
Like I feel like they're going to want to space out their big movie IPs, but who knows?
01:27:11
Speaker
Who knows what they are going to do?
01:27:12
Speaker
Yeah, I could see Terrifier being like the last one that they announce.
01:27:16
Speaker
I could see that being closer to when they put tickets on sale.
01:27:23
Speaker
People were saying the WWE thing, they expect that to be released pretty late because like, I guess SummerSlam is like later in the summer and they would think that that might like coincide with it.
01:27:35
Speaker
Just what I have been hearing on podcasts.
01:27:37
Speaker
So it'll be interesting.
01:27:40
Speaker
There's not a lot of time before the event for them to, I mean, they could drop it all in a week like they did last year, but we will see.
01:27:49
Speaker
We will talk about it as soon as we know what's going on and are available to record about it.
01:27:57
Speaker
But at least we have
Travel Advice and Park Speculation
01:27:58
Speaker
some sort of confirmation that five nights of Freddie's is for sure coming to the event in some way, whether it's a house, a scare zone, or just an exhibit, it's, it's coming to the event.
01:28:09
Speaker
So it's in both coasts and both Orlando and Hollywood.
01:28:14
Speaker
That's the other thing that makes me think it's a house.
01:28:21
Speaker
It's kind of weird.
01:28:23
Speaker
Like if, if they just said Orlando, then I would think that it were like just a little photo op thing, but yeah, it's gotta, it's gotta be a house.
01:28:34
Speaker
But anything else you guys want to add on HHN updates?
01:28:41
Speaker
So moving on to questions, which we have quite a bit of questions this week.
01:28:46
Speaker
So thank you guys for that.
01:28:48
Speaker
Starting off with Gary's question.
01:28:51
Speaker
He wants to know, how would you all feel about a Shaun of the Dead or The World Ends Haunt?
01:28:57
Speaker
I've never seen them.
01:28:58
Speaker
I've never seen them either.
01:29:01
Speaker
Not all of us not even knowing these references.
01:29:04
Speaker
I know Shaun of the Dead is like a spoof of like a zombie thing.
01:29:11
Speaker
And I know that they've rumored Shaun of the Dead many times in the past and we've never gotten it.
01:29:16
Speaker
So it's not going to happen.
01:29:18
Speaker
The kids now don't know what that is.
01:29:21
Speaker
Yeah, we're too old.
01:29:24
Speaker
So, yeah, so I, I wish I knew.
01:29:28
Speaker
I wish I knew what you were talking about, but I have no idea what that's about.
01:29:32
Speaker
So Carl wants to know.
01:29:36
Speaker
And I second this question as well.
01:29:39
Speaker
What is, what's the biggest tip you can give for someone's first time doing a big international trip?
01:29:48
Speaker
This is my first big international trip as well.
01:29:50
Speaker
So I'm going to need this information too.
01:29:56
Speaker
This is going to be very low key.
01:29:58
Speaker
They speak English.
01:29:59
Speaker
I mean, you'll see in Germany, it's a little bit.
01:30:02
Speaker
I think that's the biggest thing is the language.
01:30:06
Speaker
But like, it's the simple things like don't forget your passport.
01:30:10
Speaker
Don't forget an international outlet converter.
01:30:14
Speaker
Um, yeah, think about your cell coverage, like just those kinds of things are, which are different than domestic travel.
01:30:20
Speaker
That's kind of the key.
01:30:21
Speaker
And then also just don't go crazy packing.
01:30:25
Speaker
Like I, I sometimes like to overpack when I'm traveling domestically cause I have space for it, but it's difficult to pack for that.
01:30:32
Speaker
And then especially if you want to get merch at these parks that we're going to, and you're going to get shirts and stuff and you're going to be filling your suitcase.
01:30:39
Speaker
So like leave space and don't go crazy packing.
01:30:43
Speaker
Layers, layers are good.
01:30:45
Speaker
I think one that's helpful is when you're anticipating jet lag, when there's like a significant time difference, don't do anything different to try to pre prepare for it.
01:30:58
Speaker
I have done things where I'm like, I'm going to stay up really late.
01:31:01
Speaker
So I get tired and then I'm going to sleep on the plane and then I'm not going to have jet.
01:31:05
Speaker
Like, like literally don't do any of that.
01:31:07
Speaker
Just do your normal stuff.
01:31:08
Speaker
If you can sleep on the plane, great.
01:31:09
Speaker
But the best thing is you just power through that first day, go to bed, have a full night of sleep and you'll adjust sooner.
01:31:16
Speaker
Cause you'll be tired that first day, no matter what.
01:31:18
Speaker
And then you just push through and then you sleep well at the end of the day and you're good.
01:31:23
Speaker
I was just going to say don't overthink it.
01:31:25
Speaker
I mean, there are plenty of differences between the US and UK and Ireland, but they're not that different.
01:31:31
Speaker
And especially because they speak English.
01:31:34
Speaker
And you got to remember, like, if you're struggling or something, just ask somebody.
01:31:39
Speaker
Think about when you see people here that obviously aren't from here.
01:31:43
Speaker
Like you want to help them.
01:31:44
Speaker
You want to, you know, show them that your country is full of kind of people.
01:31:49
Speaker
Like they're the same way.
01:31:51
Speaker
People will help you if you're, you know, trying to figure out where to go in the tube or whatever.
01:31:56
Speaker
Like just ask somebody.
01:32:00
Speaker
And we'll be together.
01:32:02
Speaker
So we'll have a bunch of us to ask if anything.
01:32:07
Speaker
Alright, so moving on to Murph's question.
01:32:10
Speaker
With Five Nights at Freddy's being announced, but in a whole new way, are we looking at more than a house?
01:32:16
Speaker
Which I think we went over that already.
01:32:18
Speaker
Yeah, we think it may be a house.
01:32:23
Speaker
We really don't know, but it's most likely a house.
01:32:28
Speaker
Tim wants to know, what other family-owned park could you see throwing a successful I think
01:32:35
Speaker
hollywood nights event for the enthusiast community you put hhn here so i was like wait oh did he put hhn i think no he put hollywood nights because i remember i remember reading it yeah so okay so he's asking what other family-owned park do could you see throwing a successful hollywood nights event like event for the enthusiast community there's not very many family-owned parks left yeah
01:32:58
Speaker
I was trying to think of another one and the only thing I could come up with is like, do we consider Hersh and family owned?
01:33:06
Speaker
I guess the family still does own it.
01:33:08
Speaker
It's a private company, not public, but those types of parks won't do that.
01:33:14
Speaker
So I'm assuming he means like single.
01:33:18
Speaker
I mean, I would say they already have one.
01:33:23
Speaker
And Indiana Beach, I love that place.
01:33:25
Speaker
They have that hops and coaster drops, but I freaking love that place.
01:33:29
Speaker
And I think it's the hops and drops thing seems very successful.
01:33:32
Speaker
And it's, I mean, it's not really an enthusiast event, but it kind of is because a lot of enthusiasts go to it.
01:33:38
Speaker
Mike loves it, I know.
01:33:42
Speaker
I'm trying to think of other independent parks.
01:33:47
Speaker
That's a tough one.
01:33:49
Speaker
It would be nice if Lagoon would do that because it's very expensive to get in.
01:33:54
Speaker
What about Silverwood?
01:33:56
Speaker
Silverwood would be cool.
01:33:59
Speaker
Hard to get to, but same vibes kind of.
01:34:02
Speaker
We pretty much just named all of them.
01:34:13
Speaker
So Mike's brother's friend.
01:34:16
Speaker
I don't know what I typed here.
01:34:17
Speaker
It's not making any sense.
01:34:26
Speaker
Let me pull up the actual question here.
01:34:28
Speaker
I don't even know what you guys are saying.
01:34:31
Speaker
I was talking to you guys and typing at the same time.
01:34:34
Speaker
Let me pull it up here and then.
01:34:36
Speaker
By the way, before we even answer this, we kind of forgot to talk about this.
01:34:41
Speaker
This would have been a good spill.
01:34:42
Speaker
Oh, about Rip Ride Breakfast?
01:34:45
Speaker
Yes, out of nowhere.
01:34:46
Speaker
It's closing August 19th now.
01:34:51
Speaker
And a lot of people are not happy about that either.
01:34:57
Speaker
It makes more sense, honestly.
01:35:02
Speaker
yeah like no one we talked about that like three episodes ago we were like why are they closing it in the middle of hhn that makes no yeah it didn't make any sense this makes so much more sense yeah 100 um but yeah the question that we were on was will hollywood rip ride rocket reopen
01:35:19
Speaker
and reanimate for HHN as Hollywood.
01:35:24
Speaker
Wait, it's all right.
01:35:26
Speaker
I have, what is it?
01:35:28
Speaker
Well, Hollywood rip ride rocket reopen slash reanimate for HHN as Hollywood RIP ride rocket featuring the zombie of Sid vinyl and various horror soundtracks.
01:35:42
Speaker
missed opportunity good question Nick don't know what that is but I'm sure RIP Rip Ride Rocket sounds pretty cool though but I don't know what you're talking about I mean that's a brilliant idea they should have done that this whole time
01:35:55
Speaker
Like, Rift Ride Rocket should have had more sound effects.
01:35:58
Speaker
That would be great.
01:35:59
Speaker
They could have done, like, a Final Destination 3 thing, the one with the roller coaster scene.
01:36:06
Speaker
Like, just, no, it's not in motion.
01:36:08
Speaker
So that would have been pretty cool.
01:36:10
Speaker
Well, Nick, that's a great idea, but unfortunately, it will be dead.
01:36:13
Speaker
We appreciate your pun, but we have no idea what you're talking about.
01:36:25
Speaker
Thorpe and Alton both embrace a spooky.
01:36:31
Speaker
Which of their thrilling and chilling attractions are you most excited for and why?
01:36:36
Speaker
I know I'm not going to like it, but I'm kind of excited for Saw.
01:36:41
Speaker
You don't think you'll like it?
01:36:42
Speaker
I don't think I'm going to like it.
01:36:45
Speaker
I just have a feeling I'm not going to like it, but I do love the theme of it.
01:36:49
Speaker
I do like the movie.
01:36:49
Speaker
I do like the movie.
01:36:51
Speaker
huh it's a rough gerstlauer but i think that's why i don't think i'm gonna like it but i mean i love the ip so that's what i'm excited about i'm excited for the curse at alton manor i'm curious about that that was gonna be my answer too yeah yeah that seems like the most actually spooky kind of right ride
01:37:16
Speaker
There's also like Nemesis Subterra.
01:37:18
Speaker
I've heard things about being pretty good.
01:37:20
Speaker
It's like a walkthrough and like a ride attraction.
01:37:25
Speaker
It's spooky, I think.
01:37:28
Speaker
I'm going into this sort of like how I do for a lot of these new parks.
01:37:32
Speaker
Like I know the e-tickets, but I don't know all of the supporting attractions.
01:37:36
Speaker
So hopefully I can be a little bit pleasantly surprised with some things.
01:37:41
Speaker
I've been doing the same.
01:37:41
Speaker
I kind of want to go in and just take everything in.
01:37:46
Speaker
like as brand new.
01:37:51
Speaker
And then C pred would like to know how much of Epic universe is theming comes into play for ride rankings.
01:37:58
Speaker
For example, if hiccups, wind gliders, coaster was minions or Simpsons themed, would it be ranked as high or be that good?
01:38:06
Speaker
For instance, he put, I'd still put lost coaster top five.
01:38:11
Speaker
If it were in, in a field somewhere in Williamsburg, the ride is great, but the theming just enhances it.
01:38:17
Speaker
I think the theming, yeah, I love hiccups.
01:38:20
Speaker
I do, but it's an IP thing.
01:38:23
Speaker
It's a great family coaster, but it's the theming.
01:38:28
Speaker
I don't think it would be as popular or as loved if there was no onboard audio, there was no animatronics or anything like that.
01:38:38
Speaker
I think it's the whole experience that makes it so special.
01:38:42
Speaker
Well, it's a tough question to answer because hiccups couldn't even exist without the theming because it wouldn't make sense what the ride's doing.
01:38:50
Speaker
It would just be why isn't stopping and doing all that stuff.
01:38:55
Speaker
So it's a tough question to answer because they're just so intertwined.
01:39:00
Speaker
I think especially for that one, like I think if you think about like Stardust versus Velocicoaster, that's been like a common topic.
01:39:07
Speaker
Like, yeah, I think it depends on how you rank coasters.
01:39:10
Speaker
Like, do you rank them?
01:39:11
Speaker
Can you can you separate the theme?
01:39:13
Speaker
And do you rank solely based on just the ride experience itself?
01:39:17
Speaker
Or do you look at the whole picture as a whole and rank that way?
01:39:20
Speaker
everything just depends on the person yeah i think everything's holistic it just really depends on the specific experience and then also different people have different opinions like if you have no attachment to the hiccup ip well i've even seen people that actually don't really know how to train your dragon that much but who really like that ride because they feel like it's well executed
01:39:37
Speaker
And I do agree that particularly for that ride, it is significantly elevated by the theming and like the water interactions and the block break storytelling and all of that.
01:39:49
Speaker
And if you plop that in a field, I'd be like, okay, that's fine.
01:39:54
Speaker
So it really does for that.
01:39:55
Speaker
But then you take something like Stardust and you could get rid of the theming, which in my opinion is just kind of light already anyway.
01:40:01
Speaker
And it really wouldn't make that much of a difference.
01:40:05
Speaker
But I don't know if I agree, like, yes, Velocicoaster would still be really good in a field, but would it have the same impact without the lead up to it and the queue and like the paddock?
01:40:18
Speaker
I don't think it would.
01:40:20
Speaker
So I really just think that it actually like has a pretty significant impact.
01:40:26
Speaker
That being said, Donkey Kong's still kind of a bad coaster, even though it has good things.
Ride Theming and Future Park Developments
01:40:34
Speaker
Alright, so next Dex wants to know what should go in the plot where the Rapids were at Holiday World.
01:40:44
Speaker
He puts that it looks like they could fit in a GCI or a Raptor.
01:40:48
Speaker
They don't need more wood at Holiday World.
01:40:54
Speaker
Wood is already good.
01:40:55
Speaker
Yeah, I would use the GCI there.
01:40:57
Speaker
And I'm kind of over a Raptors.
01:41:01
Speaker
Yeah, I'm not here for a Raptor, honestly.
01:41:05
Speaker
Honestly, like they could put another Rapids in just a more high tech version, like Mystic River Falls or.
01:41:13
Speaker
That would be pretty cool.
01:41:14
Speaker
Something like that.
01:41:17
Speaker
Cause they already have a log flume.
01:41:18
Speaker
So it would be kind of redundant to do like the new generation log flume, like Carowinds is doing.
01:41:23
Speaker
Hey, they can put two log flims.
01:41:25
Speaker
I mean, I would be here for that.
01:41:26
Speaker
I think it would be kind of cool.
01:41:30
Speaker
That being said, I don't know how much they are going to care about replacing the water ride because they have the water park.
01:41:36
Speaker
And so it's like, and that's kind of the big pull for their, you know, for that side of the park and getting wet and everything is over there.
01:41:45
Speaker
I'm really curious, but I, I feel like Jack hinted at one point that the next development isn't going to be in that plot.
01:41:54
Speaker
I thought it was going to be over by the Good Gravy, maybe, area.
01:41:59
Speaker
We'll have to see.
01:41:59
Speaker
That park always has a lot in their plans, but it's spaced out over several years, so you don't really see what's going to happen soon.
01:42:08
Speaker
I would love to see a stupid, but like a Vekoma flyer.
01:42:13
Speaker
That would be cool.
01:42:18
Speaker
They have a relationship with Vekoma now, so.
01:42:20
Speaker
That's what I'm saying.
01:42:21
Speaker
That would be pretty sick.
01:42:24
Speaker
All right, Scott wants to know, he added another question.
01:42:29
Speaker
He asks, are you worried that HHN Orlando will suffer due to Epic from a budgeting standpoint, or do you think it will benefit due to dispersion standpoint?
01:42:40
Speaker
I know it is a separate team slash entity within unique creative, but still it seems like Hollywood is actively building multiple sets, et cetera, but not much has been seen other than the yellow beetle captured by, by bio reconstruct in Orlando.
01:42:57
Speaker
I don't, I don't think Epic is hurting the budget of HHN.
01:43:04
Speaker
No, I don't really see that being the case.
01:43:08
Speaker
And as for the active construction, it's just...
01:43:11
Speaker
the placement of the park obviously like florida is flat so you're not going to really be able to see as much whereas in hollywood you can a lot easier to see some of the construction in motion um in florida you don't really see much going on except for the facades like about a month prior a month or two prior even that is pretty minimal because there's no facade in the sound stages which is half the houses you walk in and then you see the facade the tents even as
01:43:39
Speaker
is pretty minimal.
01:43:40
Speaker
We kind of talked about this when we were complaining about like how there's like lack of atmosphere in the queues and how they could make that better.
01:43:48
Speaker
Hollywood just does a better job of that.
01:43:50
Speaker
There's always like facades.
01:43:51
Speaker
So I feel like it's so much easier to know what's going on there just because there's more construction that actually happens.
01:43:57
Speaker
everything is happening inside in Orlando and we can't see it obviously.
01:44:01
Speaker
Aren't, aren't more there like actual, the built, like the facility housing it is temporary.
01:44:07
Speaker
They're more than in Orlando.
01:44:10
Speaker
Oh, I have no idea.
01:44:12
Speaker
Or they're, they use sound stages as well.
01:44:18
Speaker
There's usually like,
01:44:20
Speaker
a facade though that you can see from the outside at least from what i've seen in pictures i've never been that's the difference yeah if they do a facade on the sound stage then you'll see that happening but i mean orlando can do stuff in the sound stages with nobody knowing right yeah they're definitely more outdoor facades in hollywood
01:44:37
Speaker
I don't see it affecting the budget, though.
01:44:38
Speaker
I mean, if anything, I feel like we would have seen those in the last couple years when construction was really ramping up for Epic.
01:44:45
Speaker
But now that it's open, they're actually getting some money back.
01:44:49
Speaker
So I don't think we'll notice any sort of difference.
01:44:52
Speaker
Well, and Epic is CapEx too.
01:44:53
Speaker
And like HHN is just OpEx, like regular operating budget that's allocated every year for this event.
01:44:59
Speaker
So it's not, they're like completely separate things, I would think.
01:45:03
Speaker
And HHN just prints money.
01:45:05
Speaker
I mean, they can do whatever they want with it and they're going to make money on it.
01:45:08
Speaker
I don't think anybody will worry about that.
01:45:11
Speaker
And also like, I think he mentioned the creative resources.
01:45:14
Speaker
I mean, I like those creative teams from what I know, cause I know a couple of people in universal creative are completely different.
01:45:21
Speaker
Like the HHN team is over there and the team that work at Epic is over here.
01:45:25
Speaker
So like the creative resources were not being strained because of that.
01:45:29
Speaker
Cause the HHN group, I mean, that's a full time group.
01:45:33
Speaker
Like they're working on, they're probably starting like creative stuff for next year already.
01:45:39
Speaker
Like right now it's like, it's ongoing.
01:45:43
Speaker
But, but yeah, but then he wanted to all Scott wanted to add also what are our thoughts on Blumhouse being leaked?
01:45:53
Speaker
Did that force their hand when it came to that late night announcement on Sunday?
01:45:58
Speaker
I mean, I don't think that was planned.
01:46:00
Speaker
It wasn't planned.
01:46:03
Speaker
Even by them saying that it's being brought to the parks in a new way, like if it feels like they didn't have like a full description to release just yet of like what the house or whatever the experience is.
01:46:15
Speaker
So, yeah, I don't that's that was not planned at all.
01:46:20
Speaker
Thanks for your questions, everybody.
01:46:25
Speaker
And before we go, we do have, as we were talking earlier, we do have stumble across the pond coming up in two, three weeks.
01:46:36
Speaker
Two and a half or so.
01:46:37
Speaker
Two and a half weeks.
01:46:39
Speaker
Very, very, very soon.
01:46:41
Speaker
So we'll have a lot to talk about the next time that we record, but yeah, any, any final thoughts guys?
01:46:49
Speaker
We might do a quick episode if we get some good HHN updates, maybe right before we head across the pond, but we'll see.
01:47:05
Speaker
I think that's everything.
01:47:07
Speaker
Thanks for listening.
01:47:09
Speaker
And again, we will try to be more active on socials because we know that we're not pretty good at that.
01:47:15
Speaker
But if you want to see Kelly with one leg, follow us on Instagram.
01:47:21
Speaker
Yes, that'll be on there.
01:47:22
Speaker
Me photoshopped on to last week's event.
01:47:27
Speaker
One and a half legs.
