We're going to play a little game we call Spill the Tea.
00:00:15
Speaker
Hey everybody, welcome back to Thrills, Chills, and Spills, where we spill the tea on all things theme parks, special events, and specially spooky season. I'm Tyler.
00:00:26
Speaker
I'm Joey. I'm Kelly with a voice. And I'm Rafa. And tonight we do have a special guest, Scott. Welcome back. Hello, I'm Scott. Hello. We had to have our number one fan on here again, of course. So we're glad to have you, Scott.
00:00:42
Speaker
Absolutely. I'm glad to be back. Thanks, guys. Reporting live from the West Coast. Oh, yeah. Yes, indeed. PST. All right. So we do have some spills tonight, as always. Joey, you want to start it off?
00:00:56
Speaker
Sure. So I'll get into some more details about this a little bit later. But this weekend I was at Holiday World with a bunch of friends. and And by the end of the weekend, I my whole body was aching and I getting old sucks.
00:01:16
Speaker
That's my spell. And the older I get, i can feel my my sensibilities trending towards the Golden Ticket Awards, where I'm going to like Fury 325 more because it's smooth and like Phoenix because it's smooth. And Voyage is going to go down because I can't ride it more than two times without falling into pieces.
00:01:36
Speaker
And that makes me sad. I think we can all agree with that.

Theme Park Trends and Experiences

00:01:40
Speaker
I know for me, once you hit midnight on an HHN night, when you went to stay in Scream, my back, oh my gosh, and my legs, I don't even think about the walk back to the hotel. Yeah.
00:01:55
Speaker
One night we actually did walk back to Cabana Bay after that. Oh, you didn't take the bus? Oh my goodness. You guys are crazy. yeah At that point, maybe standing was worse. You didn't want to wait. I was shuffling hard.
00:02:11
Speaker
Oh, yeah. That's like Scott and I, when we did early park admission and we stayed all the way until the end of HHN. but no no Yeah. don't know if I've ever felt as old as I did that day. like like By the time 7 o'clock hit, I had already been awake for 36 hours and we like we stayed the whole night of HHN. Ugh. Why? Yeah.
00:02:32
Speaker
Yeah. yeah We were talking about universal passes earlier. ah feel like the highest tier, you should get a free massage the next day after your park day. includ and yeah I would buy it then.
00:02:46
Speaker
but you should just get one on the moving walkway on the way out. like Oh, for sure. The worst is when those moving walkways are turned off. Yeah, they just happen to move them off.
00:02:59
Speaker
know I feel like the ones going out, you know, especially if you're to like the lots on the left hand side are always off on the way out. Yeah. Yeah. I agree with you. Getting old does stink.
00:03:11
Speaker
And today I'm not the oldest person here. Wow. Wow. Catching straight. Damn. Yeah.
00:03:24
Speaker
Kelly, what do you have? I have two things. Should I do my show and tell first? It's less exciting. Okay. For all the makeup wearing people out here, I'm going to be a makeup influencer for the next 30 seconds.
00:03:37
Speaker
You guys, my bonus hit my bank account and I went straight to Ulta. Okay. because I've been waiting to get this. They have a haunted mansion. I know you guys listening can't see. They have a haunted mansion makeup line.
00:03:52
Speaker
It's ColourPop. I love ColourPop eyeshadow, so I got the eyeshadow palette. But look, you take it out, and then it says there's no turning back, and it's like the stretching room on the inside. Like, this packaging is beautiful, no?
00:04:06
Speaker
And then it's got like some of the ghosts from inside the attraction on it. And look how pretty. wow I know. Kelly is ready.
00:04:18
Speaker
She is ready. I'm ready. I'm packing this for next week already. Mm-hmm. That would have worked better in a video podcast, I think. but I know, but like I described it a little bit. Anyways, it really listening if you like makeup, check out ColourPop's Haunted Mansion line. is so cool. Okay, for my real spill, and I'll talk more about this when I talk about where I've been, but i for the first time, went to a haunt where the actors were allowed to touch us and...
00:04:49
Speaker
I dislike it. It makes me very uncomfortable. It takes the fun away from like being ready for jump scares because like, I'm just like, ew, who's going to touch me and like wear on my body because it was...
00:05:04
Speaker
incessant touching from these actors and i didn't like it at all yeah i don't know how i feel about that you could argue my parents were there and so i was worried about them being touched too oh no because i brought them it sounds like this is the scariest place you've been so far like scariest as in giving me like the constant ick yeah likeophobe stay away

Haunt Attractions: Expectations vs. Reality

00:05:30
Speaker
I'm not a fan.
00:05:31
Speaker
I feel like it's okay. Like if they're like maybe grabbing your ankles or something, but if they're like touching your face or no, that's gross. mean, you already know because I told you, but yeah, there was face touching involved.
00:05:44
Speaker
I'll talk more about it later. This will entice you to listen to our whole episode if you want to hear about the all the experiences I had where the actors could touch me, which to be fair, like I didn't really research this place to the fullest extent. So I didn't know this before we got there, actually. Like I went on the website afterwards and it's in their FAQ. I also signed a waiver going into the park.
00:06:09
Speaker
that did not mention it. Like I definitely read the waiver. So um I found out when I was like in a queue and they're like, these actors are trained to touch you and they will touch you.
00:06:19
Speaker
Please don't touch them. I was like, wait, what did I hear that right? Cause normally it's like, they're not going to touch you and you don't touch them. But ah yeah, I heard it right. There was touching a lot of touching involved. too Well, it's just so weird. i don't know you can still sue then if it wasn't in the waiver.
00:06:36
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. i was The whole entire time I was like, how is this like allowed? and yeah I don't like that. Yeah, i don't know how i would feel about that. I feel like I already get jump scared like so easily.
00:06:48
Speaker
I want to be jump scared. I don't want to be touched by strangers. I feel like it would like ruin it for me. it would like shock me out of it. you know I don't even like to be touched by not strangers. like No. Yeah, that's a different level of scary. Yeah. Yeah, just uncomfortable.
00:07:05
Speaker
Yes. Rafa, you have a spill? um Yeah, kind of. So feel like this kind of goes back to the age thing. so um Not in like an achy kind of way, but um lately on TikTok, I've been noticing that there have been people with beach balls in the HHN queues.
00:07:27
Speaker
And I think that's so annoying. I think that's really annoying. Like, why are we doing that as if we're in a concert? Like, I get it. We're trying to pass time and all, but it's like, why, why are we throwing around beach balls? Like, I don't know. It's kind of weird to me. And again, it's showing my age. Cause I'm like, Oh, a little old man saying stop that. But it's just so corny. Like, just don't, don't do that.
00:07:49
Speaker
Come on. Like there was that. And then um the other complaint that I have is that a lot of people online as well are, complaining about how how HHN isn't the same anymore and that this year isn't like other years. Like it, you know, like the quality has gone down so much. And I feel like, yeah, which is incredible to hear because it's just like, what are you talking about?
00:08:10
Speaker
Like, it's been such a solid year, but. I just feel like you have to ah like accept the fact that you're getting older and you gone to the you know you've gone to the event a lot now probably and you've seen it over the years and you're you're not going to react to it the same way you did 10 years ago or when you were a teen or were or or whenever, or your first time. like I feel like people are comparing it to that initial visit and it makes no sense to me. like like We can still appreciate the event for what it is and not say that it's trash just because it doesn't scare you as much as it did the first year you went.
00:08:43
Speaker
mean, there's also something to be said for like, if you're a person who goes to haunt events frequently, I feel like you're less likely to be scared in general. Yeah. Just like haunt saturation. Okay. But what's cringier, beach balls in a queue or the um people waving their wands and dancing before Nightmare Fuel?
00:09:02
Speaker
Wait, what? The beach balls. Hater. Okay. Okay. ah one The wand dancers are cringier. I'll be honest. Guys, I think the beach ball thing sounds kind of fun, honestly.
00:09:14
Speaker
What if the beach balls were spooky? I saw the beach ball video and I was jealous. I was jealous that they had beach balls because i was that cue is terrible. It was Five Nights at Freddy's to be specific. yeah I saw the video of and I was like, I wish there were beach balls bouncing around during when I was in that cue. I'm sorry. For me, it's a no for me. I don't know.
00:09:35
Speaker
Sorry, I guess we'll disagree on that. guys can be haters of Nightmare Field hype people. loved all I will be a hater. One of us is going show up next weekend with Beach Ball now.
00:09:47
Speaker
Yes. a being unionian thing about eyes The thing about people saying this year is different or whatever, I feel like there's people that say that every year. because i'm in yeah all those like Are you guys in in any of those connoisseur groups on Facebook?
00:10:05
Speaker
Like every park has a Busch Gardens connoisseur or whatever. And I feel like all the time some random person's like, blah, blah, blah, this happened, this happened. Back when it was โ€“ back when Paramount owned it, it was so much better. I'm never renewing my past again.
00:10:21
Speaker
Every year it's something. There's people saying that. So I think some people just are not going to be happy. And some people are just going have bad experiences, and they're going to say that. Yeah, whatever. I wonder how much to, like, if you go for years, then you don't really realize it, but you're only comparing the things you really remembered from the past years and the things you really liked.
00:10:43
Speaker
You know, like, you you lose some of the the stuff that didn't appeal to you as much in the time isn't going to stick in your memory as much. So like you get that bank built built up and then you're comparing like just this one year to all the best parts of your memories overall. Exactly. no Yeah. yeah I've been going since 09 and I cannot remember every single thing of, you know, each year.
00:11:04
Speaker
Like, yeah i'm only like you said, i'm going to compare it to my favorite things about each year, I guess. And sometimes I mix up all the years, too. How many times have we gotten like scare zones mixed up, like names mixed up and all that, you know?
00:11:17
Speaker
so How old were you in 2009? I was 14. So you were you were the teeny boppers. I was. yeah it was, but I went with my older cousin who did not let me do that.
00:11:32
Speaker
so Okay. Okay. Okay. She didn't let me do that. No, I wouldn't have allowed to have a baseball. All

Exploring Haunted Attractions and Events

00:11:41
Speaker
right. have a spill and you guys are probably sick of hearing about it. Cause I think this is the third time I've talked about it, but feel like I have to bring closure.
00:11:49
Speaker
The Cedar fair legacy parks charging for their haunts. They finally said for the rest of the season, there is no more charge to get into the houses. I think they were just doing that poorly They just dropped it mid-season to try to restore some sort of order to their haunt season. And I saw photos of King's Dominion on Saturday, which I think was the first Saturday that they stopped this.
00:12:17
Speaker
And the parking lot was not full for a haunt Saturday. So I don't know. Listen to me next time. Six Flags. I know what I'm talking about. I think have to like refund people that bought them early in the season then. like So what they did, if you bought the i mean if you bought the single night and you already used it, like you're out of luck.
00:12:37
Speaker
If you bought the all haunt season one, they upgraded to you automatically to the express version. So you can cut the line for the rest of the season. If you bought the express one, i don't know what they're doing.
00:12:50
Speaker
Probably nothing, but... That's such a raw deal. So... sort of I expected to be back next year, though. You think so? be up sorry I wouldn't be surprised, yeah yeah. They've set the precedent, and the precedent exists at all of the Six Flags parks. so i don't know.
00:13:09
Speaker
We'll see. and i don't even have a problem with it. My only problem, as I've said before, was them trying to introduce it after they already sold season passes, saying it was included, basically.
00:13:20
Speaker
If you tell me at the beginning of the year, it's going to be extra. That's fine. Scott? Yeah. any Oh, sorry, Kelly. No, no. I was just going to say, like, you'll have to tell me what you think. Because, I mean, we've talked about some of the Hanset Six Flags. Six Flags is, I mean, Joey, it sounded like over Georgia was better quality than normal. Dorney seemed exactly the same when I was there. Now, I didn't do everything. But I'm curious to see how if you go to KD...
00:13:47
Speaker
if it's similar quality or if there was an attempt to make it worth money or not, you know? Yeah. We'll see. I'm trying to get up there for a couple hours this week, so might be able to bring it up on next episode.
00:14:03
Speaker
Yeah. Scott, do you have a spill? wouldn't really say it's a spill just, you know, I wish that, uh, I wish that Orlando had a TerraTram or that you guys came out here this year, one of the two. yeah I've always been jealous of the TerraTram. I want that experience here, but I just don't think it would work as well.
00:14:26
Speaker
But it just looks like a pretty cool concept. Yeah, i think it's it's obviously unique to to this park out here and the way that it's laid out, but... You know, in the middle of an HHN night, it's nice to just like get on a moving thing for a little while.
00:14:40
Speaker
It's like, you know, you get to sit, you get some air in your face and then, you know, I'll go into the details whenever we talk about that. But it's it's a great way to like break up the night, I guess, outside of like sitting in a show.
00:14:53
Speaker
Yeah. Have any of you guys done it or am I the only other one that's done it? Um, have you done it yeah, I feel like the concept is better than the execution. Like you said, Scott, it's good to get off your feet for a while and just kind of get on a little ride, but then it sort of just drops you off into a half-assed scare zone. I feel like, don't I can't speak for prior years, but it's pretty well done this year. what they I mean, but, but it is just like a big scare zone, but it, you know, yeah, we'll, we'll go over it. But yeah. Um,
00:15:24
Speaker
um I think a better version of that is what Busch Gardens Williamsburg used to have, the haunted train. So it took you around in the entire park, like a 20, 25 minute loop.
00:15:36
Speaker
And then you went by all the different scenes, people interacting with the trains and everything. um I think that'd kind of be better for Terror Tram, honestly. Yeah. Yeah, and it's unique because like where you walk through is where it drives during normal operation.
00:15:52
Speaker
you know who it yeah It's not like some crazy routing or anything. You just get off and and walk across the same cement that it drives on when you're doing it during regular park hours. so Yeah, right. And I do love the sign at the end, though.
00:16:05
Speaker
Yeah, the Hollywood sign super cool. Yeah, yeah there's they they actually had a few. um That was one thing I didn't even expect, but they had like a photo op with Megan right in front of the Hollywood sign, and then...
00:16:16
Speaker
There's like a photo op with like a Norman Bates right in front of the psycho mansion set, which, you know, a couple of cool, as you're walking back to the tram, you get a couple of cool little photo ops. so Yeah, for sure.
00:16:28
Speaker
ah I think it's good. I think it could be better for sure. But that kind of brings us into our recent spooky events that we've been to. I think Scott, you're up first here. If you want to just keep going into your HHN Hollywood experience.
00:16:45
Speaker
Yeah. um So obviously, you know, 10 miles away from Universal Studios Hollywood, I made the the jump to get the Frequent Fear Pass out here. i have been a total of, i think, five times so far and plan to go again a couple more times this weekend, and at least one more time this weekend. um and you know, overall, it ah i because Universal Studios Hollywood is...
00:17:13
Speaker
It's just not quite what Universal Orlando is. I didn't really know what to expect from HHN, you know. um But I will say that they definitely stepped their game up for this event. And I think that the...
00:17:26
Speaker
The kind of the narrowness of the walkways in the upper lot where all the scare zones are just kind of lends to the atmosphere. You know, like it's pretty loud in there. They got a lot of lights, like a lot of fog in, you know, it's crowded and it's narrow. And so people can you can really get jump scared by scare actors. They can sneak up on you, you know, so like that, that part of it's pretty cool. Yeah.
00:17:47
Speaker
Do you want to over, like, should I go through houses or just? Yeah, I don't even know how many there are. i know there's less. Whatever you want to do. you just want to do the highlights or go through each one, however want to do it.
00:17:59
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. So um there are eight houses. And i guess I'll just go kind of like... upper per lot than lower lot.
00:18:09
Speaker
um So like when you go into the left is where you're going to find your fallout and your monstrous three house. So fallout initially had a really kind of like low on my rankings. Didn't really love it.
00:18:23
Speaker
This, the later runs that I've gotten have pushed it way up in my rank. Like it's honestly, It surprised me each time the second, third time that I went through it, like how much I liked it compared to the first run. So, you know, that'll be a theme kind of with how much it seems to change like run to run. But there's, you know, spoilers, you know, for anybody who doesn't want them there. There's like a really cool animatronic bear that I don't know if it's in Orlando or not like a really, really big.
00:18:53
Speaker
huge animatronic that kind of, it doesn't swing at you, but it comes out at you out of the wall. And it's, it's like, you know, it's very big, um, pretty cool, pretty cool moment in that house. Um,
00:19:06
Speaker
Monstrous 3 is like it's top tier in my opinion. I absolutely love it. it ah It might be my number one overall across both events to be honest. But it's it's definite it's definitely yeah it's definitely between that and Hatchet for me as number one overall.
00:19:22
Speaker
um I'm looking forward to getting more runs in the Orlando houses, or at least one more run through the Orlando houses. But there's one scene in... It's just the same thing, Monsters of Latin America. There's like the... I don't know the actual names of them, but there's like... They're the same ones?
00:19:37
Speaker
The same monsters? there's three There's three monsters that this one seems to be based... There's like a Crypt Keeper kind of character that kind of is in a few rooms in the house, one of which... It a really cool effect where he like comes out and asks if you're afraid of the dark and then like the lights drop and everything about the set that you can see becomes transparent. And there's like a whole nother depth of set behind that.
00:20:00
Speaker
don't really know how they do it, but it's a pretty cool illusion. um But yeah, there's like the... There's like the distressed mom, like haunted, like mother thing with like the kids that die. and and I don't know exactly what the story is. Yeah, the blood sucking die.
00:20:16
Speaker
Yeah. And then there's like yeah the one lady with the huge teeth and like the horse, like the horse head thing. So it's like the same three kind of like historic, you know, monsters, but...
00:20:28
Speaker
There's one, it's just a really well done house. you know like What did you think of um the Monstros house at Orlando last year? So I went back and watched a walkthrough of it just so that I could compare. And i feel like that one didn't have as much of like a flow as this one does.
00:20:46
Speaker
Like the... it's when you go into this house, the first section is definitely related to one of the, of those three monsters.
00:20:56
Speaker
Then the next section is related to the second. And then the third, you actually go outside and then come back inside in the house. And the outside scene is really, really cool. Um, And then at the end, they kind of ping pong you through this like chicane of black curtains where like you get there's like six characters in there. You never know how many are you going to actually jump at you. But you get you get like you kind of ravaged right at the end of the house. It's pretty cool.
00:21:21
Speaker
um But really big animatronics in there, too, you know, like including one where like. A lady's like a scare actor. Well, not even just an actor is like half of her body is like in the mouth of this giant thing that's like biting her in half and like tear like throwing her around. It's kind of crazy that it's a real person.
00:21:38
Speaker
and like The first time I went, it was just a dummy in the in the bed. And the next time I went, it was a real person. And she like rolled over and reached at me. And it's it's got me so good just because I expected it to be ah a mannequin again, you know.
00:21:50
Speaker
Yeah. They really love this IP or this original, you know, IP so much to make a third house. I kind of like rolled my eyes when I heard about it. I'm like, oh, my God, they're still keeping this going. Like and it's so many like back to back years. I was like, why are they still doing this?
00:22:06
Speaker
And like personally, last year for Orlando, I was really hyped for Monstros because it had such a good reputation and one house of the year in Hollywood the year prior. that I was like so excited for it. And it was like one of my lowest ranked houses, but it sounds like this is definitely better than that.
00:22:23
Speaker
So that's cool. Definitely. really what with There is more like into the idea probably then compared to like a team that we have down here in Florida. Yeah, and I mean, it's it's Southern California, you know. like it's I'm pretty sure that upwards of 40% of the population is Latin here, you know. So, like, it it just... it like They know the cemetery a little bit better.
00:22:44
Speaker
Yeah, and there's an entire... Like, what's another thing that's cool about it is you walk right out into a scare zone. The exit of the house dumps you directly into the... Notre de Brujas scare zone, and like which is also probably my favorite scare zone not ah out of the whole... Nice. Both events, too. So, very cool. Then they have, like, a bar area in the middle of the upper lot that has, like...
00:23:08
Speaker
you know, kind of the Dilo, Duelas Muertes. I'm sorry if I'm not saying that right. Like skull mask, stilt dancers. There's like a couple, like kind of like reminds me of Coco. know oh yeah There's like a male and a female and and they're really funny in the way that they like kind of sneak up behind groups that are taking photos and stuff like that. So props to those, to those two, uh, scare actors for sure.
00:23:31
Speaker
Then on the far side of Hogwarts, you go down. i don't know if, you know, for those of you who have been, you leave the upper lot and walk down a huge hill to get to where two of the houses are kind of adjacent to the parking structure. That's where terrifier and poltergeist are.
00:23:45
Speaker
Um, I haven't seen the movies from what I understand. Terrifier is more, uh, themed to the second movie, I believe. Um, You guys can maybe clarify, like there's a table saw scene and the, um, like the shower scene that everybody always talks about.
00:24:07
Speaker
So very, like you very much like walk through, walk through like, just like each, it's almost like each kill. Like every room is just like a different kill, you know, and the arts are super interactive. Big knock compared to Orlando is they all have masks. They don't have makeup.
00:24:23
Speaker
It's just like an art mask. So, like, they can't they can't make facial expressions like the ones in... At least I thought in Terrifier in Orlando, it was all makeup, right? like Yeah, it's prosthetics. Yeah, it's all... Yeah. yeah So, like...
00:24:36
Speaker
you know That was a little bit of a detractor, but the interaction between... You know like you come in the room and like he's got the guy on the table and he's like laughing and like pointing like, should he push him? me knows like I don't know. We had some pretty cool interactions with the arts in in that house. was It's like the Hollywood to be the ones with like the full-on makeup. and yeah like Swapped, basically. It's like masks.
00:24:59
Speaker
So is number two the Christmas one? No, three. The third one. Okay, so maybe I have this wrong then. Is Orlando based on the second movie? It's on all of them. Yeah. This one must be based on all of them. must have faulty info there. Because there's a Christmas section too.
00:25:14
Speaker
Where like, he art comes running out with a chainsaw and a Santa suit, you know? like Yeah. It sounds very much like the Orlando one. Okay. Like the first movie doesn't have any scenes. Did you do the Orlando one?
00:25:25
Speaker
I did, yes. I did. Yeah, it's okay. It's okay. You know, memory's a little foggy. But there's not like a wet and dry path option, at least that I saw. ah You just get forced to walk through like a heavily misted zone where like there's like these hanging like cloth like white like it's like a torn up sheet and it's soaking wet and you have to like push your way through it which I was not a huge fan of. That sounds disgusting. I know all right? Yeah so uh that means you you come out of it pretty pretty wet and with every room there's like a spray effect
00:26:04
Speaker
when he does, like, the... Whether it's the saw or the push the guy into the table into the table saw, like, you get hit with little spray effects in almost every one of the kill rooms, so... You need to watch the movies, Scott.
00:26:17
Speaker
I know. i know. i You know. You should. Me and watching horror movies alone, like, and i don't know. I'm you can just watch the kill movies. You don't have to watch the whole, like, all the movies. YouTube's art kill highlight reel.
00:26:30
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah? Isn't it, like, a kill count or something like that on... On YouTube? I don't know. I'm sure you can find all of that on there. Yeah. ah So the other house down there is Poltergeist.
00:26:41
Speaker
Uh... You know, for me as a ILM industrial light and magic, like super fan, that's kind of like just something that I love because that movie back in the day was kind of groundbreaking from a ah visual effects standpoint.
00:26:56
Speaker
And, the house is like the, the, the house you walk into the facade of the poltergeist house, you know, like the actual house that gets kind of like sucked into oblivion in the movie, if you've seen it. And,
00:27:09
Speaker
Really cool. Really cool house. Very well themed to the movie. One scene in particular that I don't remember from the movie, but it's like, you know, you have like a coffin room where there's probably 10, 12 scare actors all standing in coffins on either side.
00:27:25
Speaker
And you know you you never know which one's going to like jump out at you kind of thing. So they can get you pretty, pretty well in that room, which they definitely got me really, really well in that room. So highlight moment for that house for sure. It picked up a lot of pace.
00:27:39
Speaker
There was some kind of like just black curtain transitions from room to room where nothing happened. But so I don't know if we missed scares in there or not. um And then and the lower lot,
00:27:52
Speaker
FNAF is literally carbon copied from Orlando. It's the exact same blueprint walkthrough. They only have one animatronic though on the stage. I'm pretty sure. Yeah. They just have, they have the Freddie in the first room.
00:28:04
Speaker
ah and they Yeah. There's just Freddie. And then there's like a scare actor on the adjacent stage, but it's just the one animatronic in that first room. Yeah. So not, not much to add there. That's, that's number eight out of eight for me out here.
00:28:17
Speaker
Um, Then there's on that side is Slash or Scarecrow music by Slash, which is kind of the other original. ah Really cool soundtrack in the house, obviously. music Music's done by by Slash.
00:28:31
Speaker
Not a huge fan. This one was really high for me and then then went really low after return runs. um Just all the Scarecrow actors are just like burlap sacked Scarecrow guys, you know. So it just kind of gets repetitive. But there's pretty cool rooms where there's like a bunch of them in a line.
00:28:48
Speaker
And, you know, you never know which one's going to which one's going to get you in a pretty cool ping pong scare at the end of the house. um So that one. and then the other side of the lower lot over by Jurassic and the mummy is Jason.
00:29:02
Speaker
um The Jason house, very similar to... ah to Orlando's Jason house from what I remember. It was very, it's really cool. You know, it's, it's a fun house. Definitely not, you know, not lacking or anything, but doesn't really do too much for, for me.
00:29:17
Speaker
I'm not super familiar with the Jason IP outside of the, the rowboat scene. Does it end the same way? Like with like a bunch of different, yeah Yeah, pretty much. It's a little different because you you're not like walking in a straight line through a room. You're kind of going left to right through a chicane. but and but yeah they I don't know. You can kind of see where it's coming, though. like You can tell that it's like he's going to get you here and then he's going to run over there and try to get you again. You know what I mean? like kind of thing so um And then the Wyatt Sixth house is also down there.
00:29:49
Speaker
From what I understand, it is kind of like the Orlando one in reverse, like in which I did the Orlando one. It was, I think the last house we did though. Um, but yeah, it's, it was, it's great, you know, really cool scene with him, you know, the, we are here and he blows out the light and it looks like he's in a mirror and then he jumps out from behind you or he jumps out from in front of you, you know, you expect them to be around the corner.
00:30:10
Speaker
Um, kind of a cool effect. I'm not really sure how they, how they pull that off, but, uh, but yeah, really, really good house. Um, and I'm trying to think right down the main corridor of, of the upper lot, you have like your chainsaw clowns and then the carnival carnival of carnage, I think it's called right in the center spoke of the, of the park up there. And they've got a big, that's where they have their big trust. I guess you could say with like the fire and you know, every so often they do a little mosh pit thing in there.
00:30:43
Speaker
Um, which is cool. Then there's like a murder of crows scare zone where it's just like the huge crows on stilts walking around. But they're pretty sneaky, to be honest, you know, considering they're like 10 feet tall. You'd be surprised how how well they can spook you.
00:30:57
Speaker
And the Terra Tram, you know, again, for me, first time experiencing it, like it's all Blumhouse this year. It's a full Blumhouse Terra Tram. So you know, Megan takes over the little video interlude, which also side note, fallout has like a whole video storyline that plays in the queue before you go into the house that sets the stage for it, which I haven't done fallout in Orlando, but I heard there isn't any of that.
00:31:23
Speaker
So that maybe helps it a little bit more. Um, But yeah, the Terror Tram, you know, you get you get to the spot and then like all of the Blumhouse actors from like every Blumhouse movie all come running out at once, you know, in like a barrage scare zone type thing.
00:31:39
Speaker
And then you walk through, it was like Blackphone 2, Insidious, Poltergeist, The Purge. And each one is is like their own kind of like house slash scare zone. Both have indoor and outdoor rooms.
00:31:54
Speaker
And yeah. And it goes through the Bates Motel set. That's where like the insidious part was. so you know, you get that crazy guy jumping out of the windows of the Bates Motel. It's pretty cool.
00:32:06
Speaker
um Then the purge thing is set over the war of the worlds movie set where like the plane crashes. So they did a pretty cool job of theming that all to like a post-apocalyptic purge scenario, you know, with, with, i mean, it's literally a real plane that they, that they've used for the filming of that movie. So it's pretty easy to make that a cool set when such a great set already exists there. Right.
00:32:29
Speaker
So that was a speed run through hhn Hollywood. Yeah. Are there any um just sort of overarching differences that you see between Hollywood and Orlando?
00:32:43
Speaker
i wouldn't Outside of just the narrowness of the paths, in the upper lot, You know, you guys have all been there at least once, i'm sure or you've seen it. you like It's a pretty narrow walkway, and and there's pretty much like three spokes that go off of it outside of Hogsmeade, you know, and that's where the three scare zones are. So it just lends itself to...
00:33:05
Speaker
It's just a much more claustrophobic kind of scare zone environment, which I think helps with the ah of what a scare zone is supposed to be, for for lack of a better description. you know Yeah, because some of us had complaints about mutations in Orlando this year just being too wide and unable to get effective scares. Yeah.
00:33:25
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And then last year, like the carnival or the, I forget what it was um with the King and Queen, like the torture. torture Yeah. yeah but That, that like, I don't know. was I thought that was better than the toxic, the toxic twenties or whatever it's called this year. But yeah. yeah Yeah.
00:33:44
Speaker
ah But other than that, I mean, Food and drink, they've got some really cool really cool bar areas. A lot of the food is the same, I think. They have this like huge hot dog thing that's like 50 bucks out here that I don't feel like they have in Orlando. It's like two-foot-long hot dog or something like that.
00:34:00
Speaker
Oh, my gosh. But it's like to fla like all flaming Cheeto'd up and stuff. Oh, okay. Yeah. And there's like a, there's on the Jurassic, on the paddock above the Jurassic Park ride, there's like a slash bar, which is definitely a vibe, a pretty cool little area. They're playing music pretty loud. But only the only food I've had at the event is the tacos from up there. And it's all black lit.
00:34:24
Speaker
And so they have like this paste that I think they wanted to glow in the dark or like get picked up by the black lights. But it just looks like, like ah pale yellow paste on your taco. And it just, it doesn't taste good. It's yeah. It's just, ah it's a big mess. I get what they were trying to do with the picture. It looks awesome.
00:34:46
Speaker
But in reality, it's, it's nothing like that. So, um, but really good drinks. Good. Good. Can you definitively say which one you enjoy more?
00:34:59
Speaker
i Or are they both just different in their own way and you enjoy them differently? I would. So there, I have gone back and forth on this and I'm not trying to be contrary. I promise. I really like objectively.
00:35:12
Speaker
i think that the Wyatt house in Hollywood is better. ah think the terrifier house in Hollywood is better, even though they don't have the, even though they have the masks, I still enjoyed it more. yeah, And so I don't know. I think that it's, they're, they're, they're, they're very different events, I think is the best way I can describe it.
00:35:32
Speaker
It seems like you can't do HHN Hollywood in one night, unless you have express. It's literally impossible to do at least for, from what I can tell, it seems impossible to do five nights has like 180 minute queue almost all the time.
00:35:45
Speaker
Perifier gets up to 180 minutes. So it's like, it's a, it's busy, but it seems like you can have like a more, if you don't go into it with the attitude of doing more than three or four houses, which seems kind of like sacrilegious to say, but you can have a really, it's like a pretty cool vibe in the park ah for lack of a better way of describing it.
00:36:07
Speaker
um But I think Orlando overall is the better event. You know, you can't really, i mean, there's 10 houses. It's so, it's such a better park to begin with. You know, it just, I think that Hollywood drift next year, if that runs throughout all of HHN,
00:36:21
Speaker
We'll add a different element of energy to the whole park for sure. um But yeah, I would, I think at this point I would slightly give very, very, very slightly give the nod to Orlando.
00:36:33
Speaker
And I've definitely been on the opposite side of that take at times. Like when I was, when I was in Hollywood HHN, like, Oh, this is so awesome. you know Yeah. But I definitely agree that Hollywood builds a better atmosphere than Orlando does.
00:36:47
Speaker
Yeah, it's just like louder in there. And the fog is way thicker. And the lighting and the fire, they have fire blasting out of buildings everywhere. you know It's just a very cool vibe. but um you know But you i mean, it's Hollywood, right? They should amp some of those basic set design things up. It should be easier for them, too, at least.
00:37:05
Speaker
right Yeah, good point. mean, literally, therere you know the back lot is right there. yeah. Yeah. Cool. Sounds like we have to go sometime.
00:37:17
Speaker
I know it'll be right after I leave. I'm sure. Maybe a TCS meetup next year. Maybe. Yeah. By the way, i mean, by the looks of it, I'm going to be here forever. So of
00:37:31
Speaker
cool. All right, Joey, you did a couple of things. Yeah, um this past weekend, myself and a crew crew from Buzz Bars, I think we had somewhere in the range of 14 to 20 people went to Holiday World.
00:37:48
Speaker
um It was during their Happy Halloween Weekends event. That's not necessarily why we went. We went because the park is open until 10 p.m. and you can get night rides on the coasters there, which is not something you can typically do during the summer unless you're at Hollywood Nights.
00:38:05
Speaker
um And I personally had not been to Hollywood Nights this year, so it was a good opportunity to get out there and and ride the voyage and ride all of the other coasters and everything and have a good time with with everybody.
00:38:16
Speaker
um The park is cute for Happy Halloween Weekends. It's definitely a family-oriented event, which makes sense because the park itself is a family-oriented park. um We did participate in some of that. um We went out and we did the, this year it's dinosaur-themed, we did the dinosaur-themed corn maze. Yeah.
00:38:36
Speaker
um And so they had like large scale dinosaurs like Stegosaurus and Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops, all this in the middle of the corn maze. So you'd be going through it and picking directions and then run into Brachiosaur or whatever.
00:38:52
Speaker
um So that was cute. And we forced our friend Brayden to navigate the corn maze because he had never done one before. and he kept apologizing for going the wrong way.
00:39:05
Speaker
well That's pretty hilarious. um ah Luckily, while we were out there, it was actually 80 degrees that day, which is kind of wild um for for there. But luckily, we had cloud cover during that. So it was not quite as miserable as our last corn maze experience.
00:39:23
Speaker
um We also did. so they have. I struggle to call this a haunted house, but they have this thing called Carnival of Chaos, which is an indoor haunt-like attraction at Holiday World. I think it's designed to be a little bit more friendly for families, but it's also not like brightly lit or anything. It's it's ah a little spooky, so...
00:39:49
Speaker
Um, there was like a hall of mirrors aspect to it. There were a couple, ah strobe light, like, uh, pathway with a bunch of direction changes. Um, there was only one live actor that we saw.
00:40:02
Speaker
i think there were supposed to be maybe like three. i don't know if some people were on break or what. Um, and then there was also some kind of air compression triggered effect, you know, where it like shoots at you.
00:40:14
Speaker
Um, and that was probably the scariest part of it. um But it's cute that they have something at all because, you know, it's it's not really the focus focus of that event or anything. Where do they put these things in the park?
00:40:28
Speaker
So the corn maze, Holiday World owns a lot of property. um To the right of Thunderbird, there's this massive field and they spend months and months growing the corn out in that field.
00:40:40
Speaker
um So that's that's where the corn maze is. So you you basically go down to where Pilgrim's plunge Plunge used to be right next to Good Gravy. You kind of walk down that way towards the corn maze. And then the haunted house is up in um just this random building behind the Christmas restaurant.
00:40:57
Speaker
in the front yeah they also actually have another thing that we did not do which is like a 3d i think it's designed to be less spooky it's like a 3d walkthrough maze with the holiday world characters in it um and there was a long line for it so clearly the kids love it um and they do trick-or-treating at the wave pool um area so they have all kinds of like family friendly things to do it's it's a cute event um And yeah, we we had a good time. It was busier than it was last year when we did this a similar weekend to Holiday World, but we still had a good time.
00:41:31
Speaker
um Got to ride all the coasters, road voyage several times to the point of aching.
00:41:39
Speaker
Raven is still a little rough. a They actually retract like the first drop and first hill. um So it has more airtime than it used to, which is great. But they did not retract after the fifth drop yet, which still a little rough.
00:41:54
Speaker
So I hope that the Gravity Group or whoever gets out there to to fix that section soon. um Yeah. And then the scariest thing of all, a bunch of white people were getting drunk and singing karaoke in the middle of the night in Indiana.
00:42:11
Speaker
I may or may not have received some video evidence of that. did Oh no. What did you see Scott? I want to see the hobby, the hobby Scott spy network continues. Oh, I see. Yeah. I took some videos too. I'll have to dig them up, but it was, it was pretty hilarious.
00:42:32
Speaker
That's the second year that that's happened. um Shout out to John Mike. If you know, you know,
00:42:40
Speaker
um But yeah, and ah so that was great. And then on Sunday, actually, the so I flew back Sunday morning and then slept and felt my bones ache.
00:42:52
Speaker
And then ah we went to Netherworld with with Simon and Gooch and Seapred Sunday night. And we usually go, this is kind of Atlanta's premier non theme park related local haunt.
00:43:09
Speaker
And it's like nationally rated or whatever. It's um it's, it's a lot of fun. Last year, I wasn't as impressed with it as I had been like the first two times I went.
00:43:21
Speaker
um But, and so this year I was kind of going and being like, yeah, it's it'll be kind of, you know, it is what it is. um They have two houses and then they have a kind of outdoor area with food and like attractions and roaming characters and that kind of thing.
00:43:38
Speaker
um So the first house was significantly reskinned from previous years. So. I think it was largely the same pathways, but they had changed a lot of the props and the animatronics and and all of that. so that was great to see something new in there.
00:43:57
Speaker
um They also heavily incorporated the use of... Bungie this year which they've had before but they were there was a lot more of it this year and that is this haunt season is the most that I have been like I got got bad for the like the the worst time so far this season, because it was one of those things where you, you know, they have a curtain and you have to open the curtain to go through. i was in front of our little group um and i see this dark corner in front of me and I'm like, OK, I need to make a turn.
00:44:34
Speaker
But nothing was happening there. So I, you know, just kept moving. And then out of nowhere from this dark corner, just boing, this thing came out of nowhere. I was not prepared for that at all.
00:44:47
Speaker
It scared the crap out of me. um And there were a couple couple different moments like that. It wasn't just me. like Some of the others got got got by some of the bungee guys. and there's ah There's a couple of creative scares they do. like They'll have somebody on stilts and you just see them up there and you think, oh, there they are up there. And then something about their setup allows them to drop down to your level like extremely rapidly in your face and you're not prepared.
00:45:12
Speaker
um And so they hey had some better scares than I remember from previous years. um And that could have been because I was in front of our group. um Also is is because they pulse you through the house, which is nice. So it was basically just the four of us kind of going through and we we had space in front of us. So a lot of the scares timed out where we we got hit, like at least someone from our group got hit.
00:45:37
Speaker
With every single scare. um They are definitely experts in animatronics. That's kind of what Netherworld does. Like there, there must be somebody there who that's what they do all year is just build these crazy animatronics. They are,
00:45:54
Speaker
Some of them must be 30 to 40 feet tall. um They're always like above you and moving. There's a ton of animatronics that trigger as you walk past that get in your way or like there was this one that was like a crab claw and it literally came out and grabbed Simon like fully closed around him. but He was like, what do I do? And then released him.
00:46:16
Speaker
Um, so yeah, that's kind of their thing. Um, and the first house, I would say i it probably takes about 25 minutes to walk through maybe a little bit more. It's pretty long.
00:46:28
Speaker
Um, and there's just a lot going on in there. Um, then you exit into the, into that central area. We did the second house, um, which last year they kind of overlaid the whole thing with this clown theme,
00:46:41
Speaker
This year they took half of it and re skinned it pretty significantly again to like a evil doctor, like body mutation kind of thing. So there was a lot of gross stuff in there and like medical weird sciencey stuff.
00:46:57
Speaker
um And that was, that was good to see that they had changed it up quite a bit. Again, i didn't get got as got as much in this one, but Simon did. um And they were they were very aggressive for sure um in that house as well.
00:47:14
Speaker
But my favorite part that I want to call out is the ending of this house. um I think I had ended up back in front again at this point. I don't know how. um And it ends, it's this is the clown section, and it ends with a bunch of just like triangles, um like tall triangles in this wide open area. And so you get there and you're like, I have no idea which direction I'm supposed to go because there are now six different pathways I could take to get through all of these triangles that they've arranged like this.
00:47:47
Speaker
And it turns out it was a chainsaw gag. There were like four to five different chainsaw guys all hiding inside of these triangles. And you were just Trying to manipulate your way through not having any clue where the actual exit was.
00:48:00
Speaker
And they basically are just popping out left and right at you getting you from all directions until you finally figure out where the exit is. And that was super fun. Like I haven't seen that type of thing before. um And it would be cool to see more haunts kind of incorporate this whole like where am I even going aspect because it throws you off.
00:48:18
Speaker
Yeah, that's pretty much up what I've got for Netherworld. um Definitely my my best scare of the season so far. I think I still overall preferred um Lehigh Valley Screen Park for the variety of experiences that they had. But I was I was pretty impressed this year. um it's It's really cool. And if you haven't been before, I would highly recommend um checking it out if you happen to be in the Atlanta area.
00:48:41
Speaker
Yeah, i love Netherworld. Like you said, the animatronics are just incredible and there's so many of them. It's insane. It does seem a little repetitive after the first 20 minutes.
00:48:53
Speaker
ah Right. And that's the thing. Like, I think that's why I liked it a little bit better this year. i don't know if this is true, but it seems like there were more live actors than I have seen in previous years.
00:49:04
Speaker
So the animatronics were almost like the the setup for the scare because it would distract you over here. But then the live actor would come at you from the other direction. And I don't remember that as much from previous years.
00:49:15
Speaker
It seems like that you would go through like long sections without seeing a live actor in all animatronics, whereas this year there was a lot more live actors kind of put in through it. Gotcha.
00:49:28
Speaker
Cool. Kelly, you did a couple of spooky things, right? Yeah, I'll talk about Hershey first because it'll be really quick. um So I went to Hershey this past weekend during the day.
00:49:40
Speaker
um they have it's more family friendly during the day and they have an area where the kids can trick or treat. I didn't have the kids with me this weekend, so we didn't do any of that. And I did not stay for dark nights. I had been before and just like it wasn't my favorite ha event. Obviously, it can change, um but I wasn't planning to be there super long.
00:50:00
Speaker
And um honestly, we Got there and did two rides and literally left because I've never seen Hershey more crowded in my entire life. Like we pulled into the parking lot and I couldn't even see where the cars that were like not preferred parking were going. Like, like ah that was just completely full.
00:50:21
Speaker
um So we did one ride on Wildcats Revenge and one ride on Skyrush. And then that was it. Everything else had like a two to three hour wait, which I was not ready to do. yeah. That was my experience at Hershey. And I feel like Hershey in general is really been suffering from crowds all of the time. Like I remember a time where you could go to Hershey, you could get there early and knock out a bunch of rides, or you could go, like I would sometimes go on a weeknight after work for just a couple of hours and we'd be able to get through a bunch of rides. But I feel like every time I go to Hershey now, it's busy like that. And it's just like,
00:50:59
Speaker
miserable the ops ah shout out to the ops on wildcats revenge they had three trains running they have been for a little while this season and they were moving but everything else is like down to one train or maybe two trains and it's just so slow moving like the only reason we got on sky rush was because it was down and it reopened as we were walking toward it so just kind of abysmal um operations in general there and she feels like it's turning into a type of cedar point where it's ah feels like more of a resort there's a lot going on and it's always busy it's so busy and it and it's like you know it's not that far away but to drive an hour and a half you know two ways that takes three hours out of your day and then we're there for two or three hours and don't get to do very much of anything it just makes me not want to go and i you know
00:51:54
Speaker
i typically buy a Hershey season pass because we at least attempt to take the kids during each of the seasons, like the Halloween and the Christmas. And they didn't even get to go during Halloween season this year. And honestly, I don't feel like going back or even attempting to do it. And so I don't know, maybe we'll consider the,
00:52:11
Speaker
the um the the price of single day experiences next year over getting a pass. Cause it's just kind of feeling like a little bit played out. And I hate to say that cause I love Hershey park and i love they have such great rides, but like when you've been there as much as I have and just every experience feels busier and busier, the,
00:52:31
Speaker
the um drive to go there or the desire to go there is kind of dwindling. So ah That's that it was decorated nicely. They had a lot of themed food and beverage.
00:52:43
Speaker
um I got one of their labels, which is kind of like a knockoff um pliables like a acai bowl place, but they had some fall ones. So I got a harvest one that had like apples and bananas in it, but it had granola that was like fall themed and they had some cinnamon on top. It was yummy. It was good.
00:53:03
Speaker
So that was fun. Um, The day prior, so this past Friday night, I went to another private haunt called Reaper's Revenge, which is outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
00:53:16
Speaker
So for us, it was like ah a little more than an hour drive. um i went with Tom and my parents. um My parents had been begging to go to something spooky. My mom loves it, just like me. Obviously, she went to HHN with me this year, but they had been asking to go to Lehigh Valley Scream Park. And I'm like, I don't know if I want to go again. Like, I really enjoy it. But can we go next year?
00:53:39
Speaker
and she's like, we'll just find another haunt. So I like did some research on a bunch of haunts that were within driving distance. And one that I hadn't been to before was Reaper's Bench. So we went there. Um, I bought the ticket the night prior for all of us. And all that the ticket said was that it was a dated ticket, but it said enter between six and 10 PM.
00:54:00
Speaker
So we like stopped for dinner on the way thinking like, we don't need to get there right away. Like you have between six and 10 PM to enter. we got there probably at like seven 30, seven 45 and the parking area was full So they had an additional parking area where we had to drive like two miles down the road and then get on a school bus to drive to the event. So I was concerned at this point. I was like, oh my God, this is not good.
00:54:25
Speaker
and we had to pay to park in this secondary parking lot, $3. And they only accepted cash and none of us had cash. So we were like, uh, like we didn't know that this was a thing. She's like, it's okay. You could just park here. It's like, okay.
00:54:39
Speaker
Um, we get on this school bus, which is like completely decked out in Halloween decor, like stuff hanging from the ceiling, Halloween lights in it. They were playing Halloween music. Like I was like, okay, this is a vibe. I really like this.
00:54:50
Speaker
You know, I would prefer to not have to get on a school bus to get some, up but like, if I have to, this is how I would prefer it to be done. And then when we were driving like where they dropped us off at the haunt, we passed like a shed or like an old house um on the property. i don't really know much about like, this is like a 60 acre area of land. I don't really know. i did not do research. So I don't know who owns it, who runs it, whatever. but Tyler told me about this. They have the old hurler sign from, um, King's Dominion. And it was just like leaning up against the side of this like shack where I wouldn't have seen it if we didn't take the bus ride. Cause it was like not where the rest of the people were.
00:55:33
Speaker
So I was like looking for it. I thought it would be more like at the event, but it was just like next to the shack. And by the time I saw it, i had, we had gone too far to take a picture. I was like, damn. Um, but then we got there, they let us off. We signed this waiver.
00:55:47
Speaker
which I was like, that's weird. But not like, ah again, i read it. I mean, I skimmed it, but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary on this thing other than like, can we use your picture and social media? Can we, you know, it's going to be loud. It's going to be foggy strobe lights, like all that kind of stuff, like medical information.
00:56:08
Speaker
and then we entered the entrance was really cool. You kind of walk down this, like you walk under this archway and then like down this dirt kind of like gravel path where there's like a little pond on the side that looks very eerie and they're playing different versions of don't fear the reaper which is cool because it's called reaper's revenge i was like okay i get it so then we get there And I'm thinking like, I have to show our tickets.
00:56:34
Speaker
But no, you have to like get in the queue for the first attraction. And then right before you get on the Hayride, which is the first attraction, you show your tickets. So i was like, that's weird. So you go in and they have like this whole area very similar to Lehigh Valley Screen Park where there's like ah bonfire and there's like some food stands. It's actually a little bit smaller and less involved area than Leah Valley Screen Park, but I couldn't really even see it because we were like, oh, let's just like get in line for the hayride. They have five haunted attractions. The hayride was first. um
00:57:05
Speaker
We get in this queue and walk about 10 feet and there is a whiteboard that says, wait from this point, two hours to get in I was like, oh no, because I knew I had to get up early the next day. i also had to drive home. We also had to get back on a school bus to get back to our car. I was like, not this is not a good situation. And then like part of me was like, do we just like bail? And then i was like, no, I just paid so much money for these tickets. Like I already purchased them obviously. So I was like, I guess we're doing it. We're standing in this two hour line, which ended up being closer to probably like an hour 15. Like it wasn't the full two hours.
00:57:46
Speaker
And they did have some stuff in that they had like a big screen where they were playing old Addams Family episodes and they had like a singing pumpkin. They had like a snack stand. So they had stuff to break it up. But I was like, oh, my God, this could not be real life, especially because it said enter between six and ten. And in my head, I was like, oh, that just means like get there between that time and you'll get on. And I was getting scared that like, are we even going to get to this ticket booth before 10 a.m. m like in this or 10 p.m. in this line? And.
00:58:16
Speaker
um Luckily we did, but it was a little scary. There was also some roaming characters. I saw roaming Art the Clown. I literally summoned him because I heard the his little squeaker. And I was like, wait, that sounds like Art the Clown. was like, there's no way there's art here. And then I like look and I saw like the top of his little hat like far off in the distance. And I was literally like, Art, Art the Clown, calling him over. Because I was like, if I can't see this man at HHN, I'm going to see him here. And he took a picture with me. And he was kind of like...
00:58:45
Speaker
He was kind of like a discount Art the Clown, but he didn't have the same mannerisms down. But I was just happy to like be in his presence. I was like, the Clown, I love you. And he was like, okay.
00:58:57
Speaker
Not feeling it. Discount Art the Clown. He really was a discount art the clown. Literally. That's what I said. Have you still not seen a roaming art at HHN?
00:59:08
Speaker
I saw him on a like golf cart while I was... Where were we? like In the Fallout queue? Yeah, back by Fallout and Galkin. Yeah. Oh my god. So I have some notes.
00:59:22
Speaker
but No, go ahead, Scott. I was just... ah there's a lot of roaming arts in Hollywood and one of which like ran Ricky down in ah in like an alleyway and like did like a fake throat slash to him and Ricky like played the part and like went to the ground and everything it was so funny it was so cool I was trying to get my phone out in time but couldn't it was such a perfect moment so shout out Ricky for for that because it was awesome so that's all I wanted to say that's so Ricky too that is so Ricky
00:59:54
Speaker
he He saw it coming before anybody. He bought in. He executed. I love it. I love it. I know he listens. So hello, Ricky. um So after we finally get to like the area where they scan our tickets, they put us in these like numbered cattle pens to board the hayride. And while we were in these cattle pens, they were playing a video about the hayride. And that's when I found out that we were going to be touched at this event.
01:00:22
Speaker
And they as they were saying it, I looked back at Tom and he, in his eyes, looked like he wanted to kill me in that moment. Like he was so unwell about the fact that we were about to be touched, but like didn't want to show face. But I could just tell he was like looking into my soul like I'm going to kill you.
01:00:41
Speaker
And then my my mom thought it was hilarious because the entire time she's like, She gets nervous and scared and enjoys it, but she's like trying to divert to Tom being more scared than her. So she's like, oh, Tom's going to pee his pants, like making fun of him the whole time.
01:00:57
Speaker
So when we all found out we were being touched, she was just um she was just kind of making fun of him for a while. So we get on this hayride. I was really excited for it because the website and everywhere else says that this is like ah ah very highly rated hayride, like scariest in the U.S., best hayride in the U.S. So I'm like, okay, like let's see what this hayride's about.
01:01:14
Speaker
I was extremely underwhelmed with the hayride. Now don't get me wrong. The sets were incredible. Like you could tell this is so high budget. They had giant animatronics, multiple ones.
01:01:27
Speaker
The depth of the sets, like it would go back into the woods. Like as far as you could see, literally there were like lights and sets. There was really cool music. There were some set pieces that were like incorporated into some like buildings that were out there. Very similar to Leo Valley Screen Park. We would stop for like a minute at different areas when they would have like a little, a little like show kind of entertainment at that area.
01:01:50
Speaker
None of them were very scary. and There was one where these girls like, came onto the hayride and then jumped off and did like the thriller dance like in entirety like there was a disco ball that came down and they just like flash mob but it was only four girls doing the thriller dance and I was so unimpressed I probably had such a nasty face i was like what this is like the hayride Um, we got our first taste, taste of mild touching on the hayride. It was basically like people that were off the hayride.
01:02:22
Speaker
were facing inside like Leah Valley Screen Park, like the classic hayride and people would like reach out and touch your back as it was going by. So I was like, okay, if that's how I'm going to be touched, like that's fine. Um, but yeah, overall there were maybe like 10 to 12 different stops. Like it was very long.
01:02:39
Speaker
I was like, oh my God, this is going on forever, but overall not scary. And like, Really not that, I don't know. Maybe I was just crabby that I waited for like an hour and 15 minutes, but it just like, wasn't that good, but okay. So then we pulled up to the last like set piece and it was basically like, um, there was a police car and like a bunch of, was very confusing because they weren't police officers. They were like military esque. It was very much the same vibe as the guy outside of the, um, the house.
01:03:09
Speaker
I don't remember what it was called, whatever house at Leah Valley Screen Park that we did. That was like military whatever. Bio Purge. Yeah, it was that vibe. They were like yelling at us to get off the hayride. And then we went into this little trailer and it reminded me a lot of Ghost Train in um at Thorpe Park because they would like turn all the lights off and then they would come back on and there'd be like a scare actor like right in your face.
01:03:31
Speaker
Um, I think it was just to like kill some time. Like it was just a holding area, but the scares in there were like kind of well done and people were like screaming at you. So I was like, Oh, I don't like it.
01:03:42
Speaker
Um, and then we like left out the back of the trailer and went into what was the second attraction, which very similar to how Leah Valley screen park did. It was like partial indoor, partial outdoor, like long pathway.
01:03:55
Speaker
um and this one was called lost carnival. um I feel like this was maybe my favorite overall of the experiences.
01:04:06
Speaker
I feel like this theme is sometimes overdone. Like there's, you go to a ah haunt event and there's creepy clowns at like every single one, but this was more like giving abandoned carnival vibes. They had an old Ferris wheel and an old carousel running, but with nobody on, like you couldn't ride it It was just like running and like very eerie and creepy looking well lit.
01:04:30
Speaker
Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures. They didn't let you during the event. um But I really wanted to because it looked so cool. um There was like couple indoor sections. One was like a fun house that had like, you know, the tilted floors and the optical illusions. And then there was another like kind of like tent clown house where um there were a bunch of scare actors in there. This one, there were some scare actors like hiding, like their boo holes were on the ground and they would like reach out and like touch your legs, which was kind of cool. I was still on board with the touching at this point.
01:05:03
Speaker
Yeah. At the end of this path, though, I was so our whole entire group from the hayride like went through the path together. and I was the first I was the last person on the hayride and the first person off. So I was the first person leading this group of like 30 people.
01:05:18
Speaker
And I didn't mind my like my family and Tom like wanted me to go first and I was happy to do it. But I came up to this like scare actor who stopped us in the pathway and he got so close to my face. He was literally touching my nose like with his face.
01:05:31
Speaker
And like, just like snarling at me. And I was like, you are so like, you're spitting in my mouth. Like at this point, I'm like, I literally said, i'm like, I hope you're not sick. Because literally, he was in my face. Like, and and that's not scary to me. I'm like, this is not scary. It's just gross. Like, i don't like it. Like, back up. That's a no for me.
01:05:51
Speaker
And it wasn't like you it wasn't even like a jump scare thing. He was just standing there, walked up to me and was like right here in my face. And I was like, um excuse me, i don't like it. um So that was that experience. Very well themed.
01:06:06
Speaker
Lots of like old, creepy, like abandoned carnival vibes. it was It was just cool, visually really cool um Then the third attraction was called Delirium and we put on 3D glasses for this and I was wearing my glasses and i put the 3D glasses over my glasses and I don't think that was meant to be a thing. I've never worn dirt glasses wearing my glasses but I needed to like you know see in the dark so
01:06:37
Speaker
I had to do it this way. This was like a pretty short house, very akin to what I've seen at Six Flags where they do like the 3D paint houses. But this one actually had really good scares where the actors were painted and up against the wall and would like pop out at you.
01:06:50
Speaker
So I got a couple of actually like decent jump scares in there. um But the house overall was pretty short. um The fourth one was freaking wild, you guys. It was called something dark.
01:07:04
Speaker
Let me see. Dark. It's black. pitch black um okay so we're on the we I think we yes I think we had to get back on the hayride for a little bit just to be like taken to this one but we get out and there's like an option to skip this one like it says like skip this attraction here and like bunch of people were skipping and I was like what is about to happen they told me i think a lot of the reason I didn't get touched earlier like people were getting touched on the hayride like they were putting like
01:07:35
Speaker
Tom got it. They put like a black mark on his head and he's like, what is this? And it was like, but I don't know. Anyways, I had like a snow hat on and my glasses. So like not much of my face was out. And I was like, I think this was for the best. Like they're not going to touch me.
01:07:49
Speaker
They said, you have to remove your hats and glasses to go in this house. And I was like, ah but I like can't see. They're like, the point is you're not going to see anyways. So I like,
01:08:00
Speaker
so What did you buy tickets for? What is this? Okay, so we go in this house and it is so long. It is pitch black, completely pitch black. Can't see anything.
01:08:11
Speaker
You walk through these narrow hallways where the only way you know where to go is by feeling. And I had gloves on. It was cold, thank God, because I was touching everything to try it. I was first.
01:08:22
Speaker
I got, they purposely try to separate you. So you turn around and you're like, party isn't there. You're just in there by yourself in the dark, literally feeling where you're going. And the walls had all kinds of different, like,
01:08:34
Speaker
sensory things on them and there were things hanging that you would like walk into. And there were scare actors in there that like you would run into their bodies and then they would like scare you. it it was, it was a lot. It was a lot. And they also had some sound deprivation stuff going on in there. So there was like zero sensation other than just like me feeling these walls with my gloves on.
01:08:55
Speaker
Oh my God. um I was actually like scared in here, like just the sense of unease. um And then, of course, it had to end with a giant tunnel of blow-up walls that you had to crack. No! Your was just about to ask about that. I'm like, I feel like this is coming. I feel like this is something that this place would have. Oh, it sure did.
01:09:17
Speaker
It sure did. We got there, and there was a girl in front of me who was, like, a teenager who got separated from a group, and she was literally standing outside the blow-up walls, not understanding how to go. And she was, like, really upset. She's like, I don't... i And I'm like, we have to go through here. And she's like, you go first. and i was like, yes, I love this so much. and She like held on to me.
01:09:36
Speaker
Oh, God. Yeah, it wasn't great. I just and I don't like any of that. Like, I can see why people skipped it. But the last one was very similar theme to BioPurge. It was like another like.
01:09:50
Speaker
experimental mutation type situation. The house was kind of short. It was cool because you got to climb upstairs and like go around. But this is where I was touched the most. And I hated it. Somebody, as I was walking, put their hand like under my hair on the back of my neck and then like did this with my hair as I was walking, like just like messed with my hair. And I was like, ew, I don't like it And then at the end, this lady with very long fake nails was putting that, like scratching my, like lightly, was like touching my face with her nails. I was like, ah I'm going to throw up. Like I need, I literally sprayed my face with hand sanitizer. Okay. You guys know how I am with my hand sanitizer. i was like, this is disgusting. I can't handle it.
01:10:31
Speaker
And it kind of ruined that house for me. Cause I was just like, ew, like people are, and people were touching my parents. Like it, I just, yeah I just didn't like that at all. And I felt like it took, The constant concern of when I was going to be touched next and how took away from any enjoyment of like the traditional jump scare experience.
01:10:50
Speaker
So I am not for it. I will probably not do another haunt if I know that there's going to be that aspect included just because like, it wasn't even fun. It wasn't even scary. It didn't achieve anything other than just uncomfortable. I was just like, ah like, I don't want people touching me. I don't, like I said, i don't even like people I know touching me.
01:11:09
Speaker
If there's like, you know, at a buzz bars event when everyone's leaving and everyone's trying to hug everybody goodbye, I'm like deuces Irish goodbye. I don't like this. Like, I don't, I don't want, I don't want to be touched.
01:11:20
Speaker
So There's people that are going to listen to this and be like, oh my God, I never knew that. I'm sorry, Kelly. but Okay, listen, I won't hug you if I don't want to. So if we've hugged before, we're tight, okay? that won yeah I won't do it. I'll walk away. And don't be offended if I walk away from you now. Like if you're listening and I'm like, people are giving hugs and I'm out of there.
01:11:44
Speaker
Like i I just don't, I don't like to be touched. I just don't. It's just, I was never, a i was never a cuddly person. I just don't like it. and don't like it. i don't I especially don't like strangers working at a scare event touching me. Come on. Yeah.
01:12:00
Speaker
Caressing your face. That's a weird. It was weird. Immediately after touching somebody else's face. Yeah. Literally. I'm like, this is so gross.
01:12:11
Speaker
She's touching thousands of people in one night. and Yeah. How often is she washing her hands? Never. Very often. ah And think. ah ah No. You guys.
01:12:22
Speaker
No, I'm not okay thinking about it. I got in the car and I felt disgusting. Like I, I'm a little bit like germaphobe. Like I would say more than the normal, normal person just because of, yeah, Tom has appeared and he's shaking his head. Yes.
01:12:37
Speaker
Um, I am a germaphobe and it's because of what I've seen in my professional life. And I, I just couldn't with this. It wrecked the whole entire experience. I got in the car. I sat there like this the whole way home And as soon as I got home, I was in the shower with burning hot water, scalding my skin off.
01:12:56
Speaker
I'm done now. I'm done.
01:13:00
Speaker
Do not recommend. Will not return. Well, so were they successful because they scarred you for life? I don't know. and don't know. Yeah. Was that the goal? Did they succeed in what they wanted to do?
01:13:12
Speaker
i mean, maybe if they want to like gross people out, but like for me, The enjoyment is being scared or spooked, to not feeling like I have all kinds of germs on my body.
01:13:24
Speaker
And for them to have a higher budget, people must like it. For sure. But you were could to be me you were still thinking about it hours later. ah sure. I am.
01:13:36
Speaker
I'm still thinking about it now. don't know. Sounds like it works the way they intended.
01:13:42
Speaker
I never know how to feel about the house, like, the the touching thing, you know? Like, there's the... I don't know where it is, but it's, like, door 17 or something like that, where, like, you have to sign a waiver that says they can, like, cut your hair.
01:13:54
Speaker
Yeah. know yeah Or, like like, I've even heard... i haven't seen or verified, like but, like, there's even, like, a tooth pull room and stuff like that, and it's like, oh, my gosh, like...
01:14:06
Speaker
Yeah. You get like electrocuted or something in one of them. yeah i don't need to I don't need to endure pain. Okay. That's a fetish at this point. Like it's not even about spooky season anymore. Like you've got a fetish going on here.
01:14:18
Speaker
Yeah. she The kink house, not a haunted house. Exactly. We don't kink shame on TCS, but if you like that kind of thing,
01:14:33
Speaker
I'm sorry. just It's not spooky. No, that's a different, that's a whole different thing. We don't unless your kink is waving wands at nightmare fuel.
01:14:44
Speaker
Get of here. Or beach balls, apparently. Or beach balls, yeah. I'm no subjective in my wand waving hate. You know, it's it's very much like how much is the person, you know, who who's doing it?
01:15:02
Speaker
Play me all you want, but I'll die on that hill. Mixed feelings here about that, I think. All right. Speaking of that, real quick, I just want to shout out the Purge show.
01:15:15
Speaker
I didn't talk about that. The Purge show at Hollywood is awesome. It's on the Waterworld set. If you've seen Waterworld or know, it's probably the, you know, kind of like the gold standard for an amusement park, daytime, like, themed show type thing, you know, and they...
01:15:31
Speaker
It lends itself very, very well to a spooky style show with the pyrotechnics that they have built into that set. It's it's really wild. And they do some pretty cool, like, you know, movie making magic type stuff where it looks like people's bodies are coming apart, but they're not really, you know, yeah, it's it's it's really well done.
01:15:51
Speaker
So I just wanted to throw that in there real quick. I think I would like that. I mean, the Fuel Girls combined with the Purge show would be like the greatest HHN show of all time. love the Fuel Girls.
01:16:07
Speaker
I have to see Nightmare Fuel again. oh yeah. i love that We'll definitely see it. Yeah. Purge show is awesome. um So I haven't done anything traditionally spooky, but I did do ah hike yesterday that I guess turned out a little bit spookier than I thought it would be. Yeah.
01:16:27
Speaker
It's called the Blue Ridge Tunnel. Yeah, you saw it on Instagram? Yeah. um So it's the Blue Ridge Tunnel. It's outside of Waynesboro, Virginia. So it's like an hour and a half from me probably.
01:16:39
Speaker
um So basically it's an old rail tunnel that was built in 1858. At the time it was the longest tunnel in the country. So obviously built for a train to go through.
01:16:52
Speaker
They later on rerouted the train. I'm not sure why, but they, you know, took it a different direction. So then it was abandoned for a while. Uh, the County then bought the tunnel, took the tracks out and then made it into a hiking trail.
01:17:07
Speaker
So essentially it's just, uh, you start off with a regular hike and then you have the tunnel and then it ends as a regular hike too, unless you come all the way back. So, um,
01:17:18
Speaker
start the hike, get to the tunnel, just a normal hike. And I'm looking through the tunnel. I'm like, oh, that doesn't look very far because you can see the light at the end of it. I'm like, oh, that doesn't look too bad. turns out the tunnel is a mile long.
01:17:30
Speaker
It takes forever to get through. And then once you're in the middle of the tunnel, it is completely pitch black. You have to have a flashlight or you can't find your way through it. So you're in the tunnel for like 20 minutes, depending on how fast you walk.
01:17:45
Speaker
Saw a couple animals in there, a couple little mice scurrying around, um a little like, I don't know, like a crawdad thing. and don't know. There's some water in there. So I don't know. Some sort of cave delling caved dwelling crawdad. I'm not really sure.
01:18:03
Speaker
um And there's like a waterfall in the middle of the tunnel, which is kind of cool. But anyways, on the way back, I'm walking probably right in the middle of the tunnel. And it's pitch black. You know, you can't see anything except your flashlight and what's 10 feet in front of you with the, that's lit up by the flash.
01:18:21
Speaker
But I'm by myself, complete pitch black. And I hear a train horn. I'm like, oh my God, there's a ghost train coming at me. What do I do? Because the history of this,
01:18:35
Speaker
dozens of people died building this from like dynamite blows and collapsing and stuff. um Literally dozens of people, because it was the first of its kind. So like, this thing is haunted. There's a ghost train coming at me.
01:18:48
Speaker
Well, it turns out the way they rerouted the tracks, it was just right beside the tunnel. And there was a train coming on those tracks. But the way the sound came, it just came straight through the tunnel. So that freaked me out for about five seconds before I realized it. But Um, yeah, no so scare actors or anything in there. I guess unless the mouse was like a paid actor could have been.
01:19:12
Speaker
They could make it a haunt. I actually thought about that. Um, I don't know. I feel like it's spooky enough just with the history and everything, but.
01:19:23
Speaker
So that's nowhere to hide, really. That's when I get scared the most sometimes in terms of just like being on edge and being anxious, like by myself in the dark, weird sounds happening.
01:19:36
Speaker
It's yeah, it's hard to replicate that in haunted houses because there's so many people like around you and you know that it's fake. But if you're in the woods and then the leaves start rustling and you're like, like no one's getting paid here. Like this is like real shit right now. Yeah. yeah's Without a doubt, the most terrified I've ever been fly fishing in Colorado stayed out just like, you know, it's only like a 20 minute walk back to the car, but I mistimed it by just a little bit. Right. And got caught in this Canyon pitch black, had to cross the river twice to get back to my car. in Like I've never been more scared in my life than on that walk, you know? like well Yeah.
01:20:13
Speaker
When there's a real threat of death, that's when I'm the most scared. Outline, you know what I mean?
01:20:22
Speaker
But yeah, highly recommend it if you're in Western Virginia. Any other spooky things anybody did? I think that about covers it, right? Yeah.
01:20:33
Speaker
Cool. um We do have a couple questions. This is not the end of the podcast. We're just going to do our questions and we have another segment afterwards, despite us being an hour and 21 minutes into this.
01:20:46
Speaker
Yeah. But we Dex asked, which one of you scares the easiest? And do you enjoy being scared or watching others get scared more?
01:20:58
Speaker
It's Rafa. He gets scared the easiest. That's not true. Yeah, it's me. And I enjoy being scared more.
01:21:10
Speaker
i mean, it's fun to watch other people get scared, but like I want to be scared. Yeah, it's point where people like being behind me so they can see me get scared. I know what that life is like.
01:21:22
Speaker
Yeah. For me, it's kind of the combination of the two. Like, I want to get scared. And then I also want to see other people get scared. And it's fun if both are actually happening when you're in a house.
01:21:35
Speaker
Yeah. And I think that this just is just Dex core to begin with. Cause like, you know, every house we walked out of when we were there, he turned, he would turn around and be like, y'all get scared. you know yeah He just doesn't get jump scared very easily. You know, he got, I did see him get, get got one time in grave of flesh when we were down there.
01:21:53
Speaker
That was the one house I got him really good. Yeah. He got, he got good. So, you know, Rafa knows of, of plans to maybe change that, but.
01:22:04
Speaker
Yeah, we need to send him and into the tunnel with a faulty flashlight and let it go out. Yeah. All right. Brayden says, what is a non-haunt Halloween park event that you think should be more widely visited?
01:22:20
Speaker
And what's one that could use some improvement? um I think Kelly would say that Reaper's Revenge could be improved if they don't touch you. Yeah.
01:22:30
Speaker
Nothing. I feel like the ones that we have discussed on this podcast are the ones that we're you know we would recommend people to visit. There's just so many haunt attractions in the US that it's hard to hard to know. you would really like Almost in the way that you know people go out and collect coaster credits, you would have to go out and start like really going to all of these different haunt events to figure out what are the best ones out there.
01:22:55
Speaker
And I'm willing to bet it's not at a theme park. Like the theme park events are fun. And especially because you get a concentration of like multiple different houses and the atmosphere and everything. But I'm sure that, you know, the scariest events and most interesting are, are out there.
01:23:12
Speaker
Just where are they? agree. There's one in Detroit that I've never been to, but it's pretty well known called Erebus. That's like in an old warehouse that has multiple different, it's ah it's a pretty big deal in the city of Detroit every year.
01:23:24
Speaker
So, you know, didn't somebody else mention that one too recently? Like Jike or somebody on Discord? I don't remember. Maybe. and good I feel like that there's there's a decent amount of those.
01:23:37
Speaker
There's so many abandoned buildings in Detroit that it lends itself to yeah to the availability of good of good haunt houses. you know yeah Some of them you might have not have to even change that much.
01:23:52
Speaker
um So Brayden is saying non-haunt Halloween park event. So he was very specific about it. So I guess he's saying like daytime spooky vibes, but not haunted.
01:24:06
Speaker
i haven't been to very many. I mean, I've been to kids to like Dorney and Hershey. And I think, I think Dorney has improved over the past couple of years. They have a lot more, like it used to be just like a little trick or treat thing, but now they have it like very well themed with like different facades that the kids can go up to. They have arts and crafts out. They have little games that are added. Like,
01:24:29
Speaker
They've really gone out of their way to like make it a ah full experience, not just trick or treat added to a park. Whereas I feel like Hershey used to be better. Like now you just walk through the closed water park up to different people handing you Hershey candy, which like, don't get me wrong. I'm going to eat all that Hershey candy that my kids get.
01:24:48
Speaker
I'm going to tell them this is not healthy for you. You need to share with mom. But the like theming around it and just like that atmosphere is kind of not that great.
01:25:02
Speaker
So those would be two opposite experiences, I guess. I would say the best one is obviously Mickey's not so scary. I mean, that's gotta be at the top at least I've never been, but I've heard great things as far as non haunted events.
01:25:19
Speaker
that's what I don't know if it's called Mickey's Not So Scary, but whatever they do at CGA out here is sold out. like Every single night has been sold out all season long. And it seems very well done. The theming in the general ah like main concourse of CGA and stuff. Because been there during the day while the event was going on. It seems like it's pretty cool.
01:25:38
Speaker
um But I don't know if it's the same thing as Mickey's Not So Scary. I don't think it's called that. Yeah, I'm not sure. Because Mickey's Not So Scary is Magic Kingdom. so Does Disneyland do a separate one? No, it's all at CGA.
01:25:51
Speaker
Disneyland is not. yeah Disneyland has Oogie Boogie. Well, not Disneyland. It's actually at the other park. um What's that one called? Oogie Boogie Bash. Oogie Boogie Bash. Yeah. she yeah yeah Yeah. So that's the thing i'm talking about. It's the CGA Halloween event.
01:26:06
Speaker
um Oh, okay. Yeah. Oogie Boogie Bash. yeah I thought you meant the other CGA. No, no, no. California's Great Adventure. What's it called? don't even that park is called. Yeah. That park does nothing.
01:26:18
Speaker
Right. um I was thinking of, so the Hershend parks, like Dollywood and Silver Dollar City, both have family-friendly, i i can't remember what they're called, but they're basically pumpkin fest type events, and they do seem to stay open late, even though it's not a haunt, and they have like all of the lit pumpkins around the park. It usually looks pretty cool.
01:26:40
Speaker
I'm not really sure what they do beyond that, to be honest, um but they seem like... It's more of a scenery thing. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I've heard it's yeah but i've heard that it's like really Well done. Yeah. I've seen the Dollywood one. I mean, it's, that's pretty much all it is, is scenery, but it's better than having no decorations at all.
01:26:59
Speaker
DCA. My apologies. I always say CGA. Oh, DCA. Yeah. I knew what you meant, but. Yeah. It's like one of those things. I just never get it right. Yeah.

Spooky Draft Game and Strategies

01:27:19
Speaker
All right, we are now going to do a spooky draft. Surprise. So we have how many categories? sound so surprised. Well, I think there's 12 now.
01:27:31
Speaker
He was like, surprise. Well, I am not surprised. Surprise everybody else. You guys can't just always hear all the emotion in my voice at all times. Always. Always.
01:27:44
Speaker
So we have 12 categories. We're going to, I won't go through all of them, but we'll do some coasters, some rides, some HHN, some food. would be a fun time. So any questions about this at all?
01:27:57
Speaker
We're going to do like the, um, the snake, what's it called? That's it. We're just going to start at the beginning and then the person at the end gets to go first on the way back so that everybody gets. yeah And it's already been pre-randomized. Yes. yes all leded randomized alleged legend Allegedly. It is.
01:28:16
Speaker
Kelly did not have a witness when she randomized. Oh my gosh. Yes. The most valuable spot in the draft, but it was randomized guys. Okay, rules.
01:28:30
Speaker
You can choose any of the categories when it's your turn. Oh, we're not going in order? No. ah Okay, ka you can choose any of the categories when it is your turn, and there can be no repeats.
01:28:44
Speaker
If there's any other questions as it comes up, we'll figure it out. Cool. So what are the categories? um So we have spooky coaster. a Spooky Coaster 1 and Spooky Coaster 2. So two categories for Spooky Coaster.
01:28:59
Speaker
Spooky Flat Ride, Spooky Dark Ride, HHN IP House 1 and HHN IP House 2. And we have the same thing for the originals, two of those.
01:29:10
Speaker
We have New House Concept. What is that? Any house theme that you want. You just pick whatever theme you want? Yeah. Okay. Then we have HHN Scare Zone and Signature Food and Signature Beverage.
01:29:25
Speaker
ah We did say those don't have to be HHN, just any any sort of signature food from any park. Yeah. And we're trying to make a well-rounded haunt event, and then we'll put it in the Discord for you guys to vote which one is your favorite.
01:29:42
Speaker
Sweet. Well, I'm up first. yeah we go ahead. A wrench has been thrown into the works because I thought we were just going to go in order. And so now I'm having to look through these categories and figure out what I want to claim first. but That makes it more fun. And better for people who didn't prepare like me. Sure. um so i luckily a lot of my lists are pretty long so i got options i'm prepared but that being said i feel like one of like the categories that are more difficult maybe to pick top tier stuff are the flat rides and the dark rides so i'm trying to decide what i want to do there
01:30:22
Speaker
I feel like the highs of the dark ride one are a little bit more difficult. So I'm going to go ahead and claim for a spooky dark ride. There's unchained at Epic universe.
01:30:34
Speaker
feel like that's hard. Hard. There is another one that I have in mind that would also be great, but yeah. Rafa, you're up. um I'm going to claim the spooky flat ride and going to go with mystery castle in Fantagia land.
01:30:48
Speaker
Mm hmm. couldn't Yeah, that's a good one. We don't have to the same category after Joey chooses? um Nope. Any category. It's going to be the the theme. I bet people will follow that category, though.
01:31:02
Speaker
You know, it's like Jeopardy. um Oh, jeez. I'm sweating.
01:31:10
Speaker
I don't know. okay I'm going to stick with Spooky Dark Ride, and I'm going to with Nemesis Subterra. Relief yeah cascading across Kelly's face. Yeah, but I'm scared of Tyler.
01:31:21
Speaker
go I'm going to stay with Spooky Dark Ride. No. I think I'm doing it. I think it's. Curse of Alton Manor. oh There it is. That was my other one. I almost did it, but I was like, no, I'll be nice.
01:31:37
Speaker
This is going to literally keep happening this entire game. I love it. Okay, fine. I'm going to go with Tower of Terror, the OG at Hollywood Studios for Spooky Flat Ride. Dang it. my My favorite attraction at Walt Disney World, if you guys didn't know, more than Rise of the Resistance.
01:31:55
Speaker
Okay, and I get to go again. didn't even think about that as a flat. I'm getting a little nervous with how many we're choosing for Dark Ride. i and very bummed about Curse of Altman because that's like clearly the best and I don't want to i I don't want people to not vote for me because of the Disney bias, but I have to go with Haunted Mansion.
01:32:19
Speaker
That's a good one. I know. know. You're up. I'm going to start with spooky coaster and I'm going phantoms revenge.
01:32:31
Speaker
Scott. You're up. Okay. You know what? I'm going to plant my flag. and My first HHN original house being monstrous three, I guess.
01:32:41
Speaker
Or monstrous in general, if I could do that, but this I'm doing horrible draft already. No, Rafa, you're up. We're just getting started. Um,
01:32:53
Speaker
I'll go with, I'll take the first IP house and I'm going to go with um Insidious into the further. almost did that. ah
01:33:05
Speaker
Joey with the twofer. Oh boy. um Mostly because i you all have taken all of my other things and I only have one thing left and I don't want it to disappear. i'm going to do a fluke spooky flat ride.
01:33:18
Speaker
um i have Dr. Doom's Fearfall at Islands of Adventure because I literally can't think of anything else. um ah Okay. And now I get to pick something else. Let's see.
01:33:30
Speaker
Okay, I'm going to go ahead and steal my first HHN IP house, Terrifier. Yep. You're up, Rafa. um I'll go with first spooky coaster.
01:33:45
Speaker
I'll go with Legend Holiday World. That's a good one. Strong. So I need to clarify. It's Subterra. That's more of a flat than a dark, isn't it? i was going to say that, but I didn't want to fight. Yeah.
01:33:58
Speaker
yeah No, I mean, I didn't even really think about it. And macabre Dance Macabre is more of a flat than a dark, right? Yes. I would agree. Okay. All right. yeah i mean We're going to move Subterra there. Yeah, move Subterra to yeah Spooky Flat Ride then.
01:34:13
Speaker
Dark Ride, I would say, is anything on a track. Any kind of vehicle, but it's on a track. You know what? i'm I don't care about the haters. going to take the whatever the little haunted spooky ride was at Blackpool.
01:34:26
Speaker
Ghost train at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Ghost train at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Let's go. All right. I'm going to take my second spooky coaster and going to say Siren's Curse.
01:34:39
Speaker
I didn't even think about that. i didn't either. i didn't you know I didn't realize we were just going to name just had to imply spooky. a Was that on your list?
01:34:50
Speaker
Okay, moving on. i am a little nervous about some of these IP houses going. So I am going to take my first IP house um the weekend. And I guess I'll take a spooky coaster in case they start all going. I'm gonna do...
01:35:10
Speaker
no this is like I love this ride, but I know that people might not vote for it, so let me think. um The question becomes, do you want to win or do you want it to be your favorite list? mean, i am competitive and like to win.
01:35:26
Speaker
Freaking Siren's Curse, Tyler, seriously. ah I am going to choose, I'm going to just do it, Banshee at Kings Island. I love that ride.
01:35:37
Speaker
Solid. I won't share my opinion on it. No, I hate it. don't care. All right. right I'm going to take my first IP and say Stranger Things.
01:35:49
Speaker
Shocking.
01:35:52
Speaker
Spooky Coaster 1. Mummy Orlando. Nice. The one out here sucks. All right. I'm going to go for my second coaster, and I'm going go with Verbolten.
01:36:08
Speaker
Okay. Hmm. Where do I go next? All right. got to claim one of my coasters because I haven't done that yet. Will you guys find this debatable?
01:36:18
Speaker
um Because it does have a supernatural theme. Twisted Timbers. Nope, that counts. All right. Let's get that one. And I'm going to grab an IP because I'm running out of ones that I care about.
01:36:35
Speaker
And I'm going to go with WWE. Wyatt Six. What? All right, I'm going to go for my first original house, and I'm going to with Dead Man's Pier.
01:36:48
Speaker
Nice. I have a revision that I'll only offer if nobody else picks it, but second spooky coaster will be Ghost Rider for me. Yep. Ooh, that's good one.
01:36:58
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Yeah, that's good. right I'm going to stay with the theme of taking Kelly's answers. and I'm to go down to signature food and do the fried PB&T.
01:37:16
Speaker
ah Terrible. So rude. So rude. The worst is that he's right before me too. It's like, I'm almost there. I'm going to get it. Okay.
01:37:30
Speaker
Okay. Let me grab a coaster before there's no coasters. I really wanted to have them be different. Oh, do I do two?
01:37:42
Speaker
I'm going to do it. Kings Island fanboys, vote for me. his stick timbers Of course. All right. I'm going go for i give another one.
01:37:54
Speaker
Oh, sorry. I know. i know what I'm doing a little bit. um All right. I'm going to take darkest deal for an original.
01:38:07
Speaker
Nice. You just returned the favor, Kelly. I was literally about say that. All right. Well, I'll do my second one then. My original, I was going to say for the backup is blood moon.
01:38:21
Speaker
Okay. So I guess that means it's me. I am going to take the fried carrot cake for a Coming up to Rafa now.
01:38:33
Speaker
I think he's the only one of us that's actually tried it so far. That's a good point of somebody. That's really good. And as we know, I'm a carrot cake guy after Chicago, even though I never ate Okay, so I'll take the other original house, and going to go with ah go with Hatchet and Chains.
01:38:59
Speaker
i almost took that, unless I should have taken it. Oh, jeez. All right, I got to claim an original now because I'm running out. El Artista, maybe claim another original house.
01:39:12
Speaker
Yeah, let's do that. I'm going to claim Galkin for my second original. Sorry, Kelly. Still have an IP. Okay, so for my IP, know you guys haven't done this one, but Cabin in the Woods.
01:39:30
Speaker
You're up, Scott. Oh, God. um Man, I feel like my IP list is Struggle City right now. It would help if you had one. Yeah, I know.
01:39:44
Speaker
I don't have that much HHN experience, though. um I will go with... you know I'll go with a Poltergeist House. It was very cool. Solid. I'm going to start the Scare Zone category, and I'm going to say Trick or Treat.
01:40:00
Speaker
um remember what year that was, but... That's a really good one. Birthplace of Lil Boo. Okay. We are running out of good IPs, so I feel like I need to take one. I'm looking what I have ranked high versus what people care about.
01:40:16
Speaker
Okay, so i my next highest ranked IP from all time is A Quiet Place, but I feel like that was not a very popular opinion. So i think I'm going to go with the very first house that I ever did HHN, and it was Halloween.
01:40:34
Speaker
Nice. Everybody loves Michael Myers, so... And you get Oh, and I get another one. I feel like there's a lot of solid originals left. So I'm going to go to Scare Zone.
01:40:47
Speaker
And I'm going to actually choose Jungle of Doom. Yeah. That's a good one. So question for food and beverage. Is it spooky or is it just any signature?
01:41:00
Speaker
I think it could be anything you want for like a fall slash spooky event. Okay, but it has to be a fall type. Yeah, I think so. Okay. Never mind. What were you about to do? Like deep dish Chicago pizza?
01:41:13
Speaker
No, I was going to do butter. was going to butter beer. Oh, I mean, but i do hot butter beer. Make the argument. I guess it is literally, you know, it's perennially.
01:41:26
Speaker
I'll do that. Then you guys will allow it. We'll allow it. Thank you. Is it me again? Yeah. Oh my goodness. All right.
01:41:37
Speaker
I will do, you know, I'm with you, ah even though I don't care if people didn't like it. I'm going to do A Quiet Place for my second IP. I liked it. I thought it was great. I loved it. I loved that house. They could definitely do it again.
01:41:51
Speaker
you know like so Yeah. um I'm going to claim the Scare Zone. I'm going do Cat Lady. All right. I have to do two.
01:42:02
Speaker
um I'll go ahead and do a scare zone. So everybody has claimed all of the HHN scare zones that I cared about. Oh, but this is still HHN. It says specifically HHN scare zone. Crap.
01:42:13
Speaker
Okay. I was going to do a different one. um I'm going to have to come back to that because I have no idea. What's the masquerade? Let me do masquerade. Okay.
01:42:25
Speaker
And i kind of wanted to just create my own world here. So for my signature of food, i came up with butternut squash ravioli skulls.
01:42:39
Speaker
Because that sounded so good. Delicious. Who said it has to be HHN? Yeah. I'm not creative with that. So just put pizza fries for me. Okay. okay um All right, I'm going to Ghoul Juice Signature Bev.
01:42:58
Speaker
Rest in peace. R.I.P. I'm going to take my second IP. I feel like this didn't translate to the best house, but it's an IP that I really love, a Haunting of Hill house.
01:43:11
Speaker
I keep forgetting about that house, and that was such a good house, too. Yeah, I feel like he wasn't that popular, but I loved it Okay, I'm going to take, for the original, Yeti Campground Kills.
01:43:24
Speaker
Nice. That was on my list, too. So fun.
01:43:28
Speaker
And don't really know at this point. I'm going to Spiked Warm Apple Cider. Nice. haven't had that in so long. Such a classic fall drink. So good.
01:43:40
Speaker
Yeah. So fall. Captain, too. I don't know. At least for me. I think that's true. Yeah, it has to be. Yeah, okay, good. I'm glad I wasn't alone on that hill. All right, I'm doing some quick Googling because I don't have a list like everybody else, but I'm going to say for my original Dead Exposure, i think that's the one I'm thinking of.
01:44:01
Speaker
Is it me? I mean, I think I can do this. going to take the Terror Tramp for ScareZone. That's what it's listed as. Sure. yeah um Does Pirates of the Caribbean count as a dark ride?
01:44:15
Speaker
yeah Sure, yeah. of yeah dark right I'll go with that. yeah Magic Kingdom. Okay. I have to do two. For my signature beverage, I have a bloody gin and tonic.
01:44:26
Speaker
Another thing I'm making up, which has like a splash of cherry for the blood and it has a little bit of apple cider in it too. I've gotten into a really deep spooky drink algorithm.
01:44:38
Speaker
huh I have so many ideas. Well, love a gin and tonic. So well that's just me. What I want. um And then let's see my new house concept.
01:44:52
Speaker
um I'm going to go with an IP. Well, no. i So I was thinking about maybe sinners, um but I think this other one could translate better. So I'm going to go with pulling from HHN history. Mommy strippers unwrapped.
01:45:11
Speaker
no i don't know what to put as a drink. ah Just put the lacto cooler. I didn't like it. I know people did.
01:45:22
Speaker
Back to me, you know, i feel like I could look up like originals that I've never seen or been to, but that seems seems cheap. So I'm going to do Museum from last year because I liked it.
01:45:37
Speaker
Still one of the best scares I've seen at HHN. Yeah. Yeah. that's a fine one That's like the only thing I remember about it. I'm going to take the new house concept and say Death Eater house.
01:45:51
Speaker
Nice. Um, this is like very boring, but I'm just going to say s'mores for my food. You could theme it a billion different ways. Um, but it has to be with Hershey's chocolate.
01:46:04
Speaker
And then new house concept. I don't know. I didn't prepare for this. Um, a pitch black house where they touch you. Yeah, never. Never.
01:46:16
Speaker
I mean, there were some things that we talked about earlier this season that I really wanted to happen. Like I really wanted a Lady Gaga house. I feel like her stuff is so spooky. um We also talked about like some type of wicked house. um They would never be able to do like a Disney villains house because it's, you know, well, I guess it doesn't have to be.
01:46:38
Speaker
ah you stalling while you try to think of something? Yeah, well, I'm thinking I'm going do i'm gonna do a Maleficent house. o I know there's a lot of Disney happening in my list, but I just like put some Lana Del rey spooky music in there from the movie. I feel like that could be like really pretty too.
01:46:58
Speaker
Nice. All right, I got to finish up on spooky flat ride. Let me know if you guys think this counts, but I'm going to say ghost train at Thorpe.
01:47:10
Speaker
Is that a flat ride?
01:47:14
Speaker
her Yeah. I think so. yeah It doesn't really go anywhere. Part of it is at least. I would say. so New house is all I have left, right?
01:47:24
Speaker
um Yeah. i mean I want to go Gaga too because I think it would be so cool but I also just have I have this pipe dream slash my own idea for a house.
01:47:36
Speaker
And I don't know if you guys are familiar with Bobby Pickett. He's the guy that wrote the song Monster Mash. And he has a bunch of other like old school spooky songs like that. And I think a Bobby Pickett themed house with like old school universal monsters.
01:47:51
Speaker
Like mixed in, maybe not even universal monsters, but just like a Monster Mash slash Bobby Pickett house. That sounds like that. Yeah. I'm actually going to go the music route too. going to go with a Michael Jackson thriller house.
01:48:08
Speaker
Ooh. Yeah. I feel like I could never get the rights to that, but in our imaginary world, hell yeah. Okay. And this is the last one. My spooky coaster number two.
01:48:21
Speaker
If you think this counts, there is a spooky forest. Hagrid's motorbike adventure. Magical creatures, the longest name ever. Yeah. Yeah, um don't see why not. yeah It literally travels through the haunted forest.
01:48:35
Speaker
The forbidden forest, literally. forbidden forest, yeah. Yeah. and i had No offense to Verbolten, but i feel like that's a little better executed. yeah I didn't think Hagrid's would count. But it's true, it would count. 13 got left on the table too. so That's actually not a bad one, yeah.
01:48:55
Speaker
Can I change my dark ride to Indiana Jones at Disneyland since nobody else picked it? Sure, we're bending all the rules here. Yeah. I wouldn't have picked that. so i mean, it's better than it's at least more respectable than the Black Fool Haunted House. I couldn't think of anything.
01:49:11
Speaker
That was fun. I want to do some honorable mention dark rides. Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris. Castello de Medici at Europa Park, which is their very similar to Haunted Mansion ride. Do you remember that?

like there's some dark rides that we're missing for sure. Yeah, for sure. That's such a broad category and there's so many of them that it's hard to come up with. Yeah. Yeah, you did you did Dance Macabre, right, Joey?
01:49:49
Speaker
No, I actually had thought about that when I first saw this, and then I forgot to put it on my list because I totally would have claimed that as a flat ride. but Yeah, I just remembered it too. I think I even said it earlier in the draft, and then I forgot it.
01:50:01
Speaker
but was like It's much better than Dr. Toomes, but hey. But you you've been on it though, I meant. I have, yeah. Yeah, okay. Yeah, I just saw a video of it for the first time the other day. It looked really cool.

Kelly, you could have picked one of the Madhouse's I thought about it. ah Truly terrifying. Should have just picked Hex to make Kelly mad.
01:50:26
Speaker
That wasn't the one that killed me. yeah The Europa Park one killed me. ah You know what would have been good is Mystery Castle at Fantasialand. That got picked. I did.
01:50:36
Speaker
Who picked that? Me. Oh, I completely missed that. That's Rafa's flat ride. um but I had to claim that one right away. Yeah, that was on my list too, for sure. And Subterra, both of those. so i was like, dang.
01:50:47
Speaker
Yeah. You know, it's another good spooky drop tower is that one at Glenwood Caverns. Well, it used to be. Yeah. I mean, it was spooky when we did it. The crystals, you think? Yeah, yeah maybe a little bit. It's like a cave. Yeah.
01:51:00
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Cool. That was a lot of fun. So who do we think won? I'm looking at these lists. I don't know. Okay, coaster-wise, I feel like people will vote for Joey because there are Hagrid's lovers and Twisted Timbers is one of the better coasters on the list or Tyler. was to say, honestly, I think Tyler, like if I were voting, I would pick Tyler's for coasters, but... You did Phantom's Revenge and what was the other one?
01:51:27
