Introduction and Special Guest Shay
00:00:13
Speaker
We're going to play a little game we call Spill the Tea.
00:00:17
Speaker
Hi everyone, welcome back to Thrills, Chills and Spills where we spill the tea on all things theme parks, special events and especially spooky season.
00:00:33
Speaker
And today we are joined by a special guest.
00:00:48
Speaker
Have you ever listened to this podcast before?
00:00:58
Speaker
Well, I mean, technically I hear it going on the other end.
00:01:00
Speaker
Yeah, she hears it from the room.
00:01:02
Speaker
Honestly, close enough.
00:01:03
Speaker
You hear what he says, so that works.
00:01:06
Speaker
Well, welcome, welcome.
International Trip Success and Challenges
00:01:08
Speaker
So we're going to launch into our traditional spills to start off, and then we're going to do the interview that we've been doing with all the rest of us with Shay soon.
00:01:16
Speaker
But yeah, to start off, my spill is just, we have finished our international trip that we were planning for a year.
00:01:24
Speaker
It feels very strange to be over.
00:01:27
Speaker
Kind of not real that it actually happened and that it for the most part kind of went well.
00:01:33
Speaker
I think people, yeah.
00:01:35
Speaker
I was gonna say it's sad for me.
00:01:37
Speaker
You guys dealt with all the hard work, but.
00:01:40
Speaker
It's weird not to have such a massive thing on the horizon anymore when it's been there for so long.
00:01:46
Speaker
wait a minute oh right we do still have other events to plan but it was such a massive task and I'm really like we sent out a survey about what people thought and it's really nice to see a lot of good feedback coming in about how it went and obviously there's things that you know we're gonna improve on the next time we do one based on some of that feedback but by and large it's all like positive feedback and it sounds like people are being so nice I know it's really really good to read them
00:02:15
Speaker
Because for us, like we dealt with more stress than I think some of the people on the trip did as the leaders.
00:02:21
Speaker
And so it's nice that some of you guys still had an amazing time despite some of the hiccups speaking out.
00:02:31
Speaker
So if you were on this trip, you already know, but for anybody that was maybe on the MASH bus or anybody that's not in Buzz Bars that's listening out of our 20 listeners,
00:02:45
Speaker
Our recent trip through the UK, we hired a bus company to do our transportation everywhere the whole entire trip.
00:02:55
Speaker
And we had two buses, a large one that was called the Bangers bus and a small one that was called Mash bus.
00:03:03
Speaker
And when we were planning this trip, this was my greatest source of anxiety because I felt like the trip...
00:03:11
Speaker
Everything else kind of relied upon us getting places.
00:03:16
Speaker
So I just had this like what I thought was an irrational fear of the bus not showing up on the first day.
00:03:23
Speaker
But then that actually happened.
00:03:25
Speaker
So we had a little bit of drama on the bangers bus the first couple of days, which we later found just to be linked to the driver that was hired.
00:03:35
Speaker
To be fair, on that first day, neither of the buses were there.
00:03:40
Speaker
One deflected later than the other.
00:03:42
Speaker
Yeah, your driver, there was some traffic and your driver of the MASH bus was very apologetic and showed up early the rest of the trip as one would when they screw up.
00:03:56
Speaker
Yeah, we were told a couple minutes after the buses were supposed to arrive that they would be late and specifically the larger bus would be like an hour and a half late because of maintenance and traffic.
00:04:08
Speaker
But what I really think happened is just that Bro didn't care.
00:04:13
Speaker
Because he was kind of thrown under the bus by the other driver multiple times after that about not caring about clients and all this other hoopla.
00:04:22
Speaker
Yeah, so we had some difficulties with him showing up on time for the first two days of our trip.
00:04:29
Speaker
And it only gets worse from there because my guy was sleeping while he was driving.
00:04:37
Speaker
I don't know what you guys could see from where you were sitting.
00:04:42
Speaker
But when I was sitting in the front and I had full view of his little mirror situation, I
00:04:48
Speaker
His eyeballs were closed.
00:04:49
Speaker
He was smacking himself in the face.
00:04:52
Speaker
He was doing all the things that we all know what it feels like when you're tired and you're driving.
00:04:58
Speaker
And it was funny for like two seconds until I realized that we had like 50 people on the bus, multiple trips in this unsafe situation.
00:05:10
Speaker
So just to back up for a little transparency, we had a full-on Excel spreadsheet of bus companies when we were planning this trip a year ago.
00:05:19
Speaker
Like, I don't know how many were on there, 15 maybe.
00:05:24
Speaker
We did a lot of research.
00:05:26
Speaker
We did not choose, like, just the cheapest Joe Schmo company.
00:05:29
Speaker
This company had good reviews, and it was, like, price point probably middle of the road, middle of the pack.
00:05:36
Speaker
So we felt pretty confident in what we were getting ourselves into.
00:05:41
Speaker
And I think overall, I mean, there were some other issues with the company itself, but I think really the issues just came down to this one driver.
00:05:51
Speaker
we can look back on it and now that we're all safe and laugh now, like it's really funny to look in discord and people are still talking about bangers bus and wishing that they were still on the bangers bus.
00:06:03
Speaker
This will be an ongoing joke forever.
00:06:05
Speaker
This will be an inside joke.
00:06:07
Speaker
So now you all, our listeners are all in on, if you ever hear anything about the bangers bus, it was, it was a time that we experienced and yeah.
00:06:21
Speaker
I don't know what else we can say about that.
00:06:23
Speaker
I mean, I didn't, I didn't see his eyes closed cause I was all the way in the back or, or closer to the back.
00:06:29
Speaker
But I did, I think once I heard Tom say something about him falling asleep, I looked over at the mirror and I can only see like his body rocking like back and forth.
00:06:38
Speaker
And I'm like, okay.
00:06:39
Speaker
I was like, I've done that when I've been like dozing off on the road.
00:06:45
Speaker
But so, yeah, so it brought some anxiety, but I mean, luckily, you know,
00:06:50
Speaker
So it's just a funny story to tell now.
00:06:52
Speaker
But at the moment it was kind of very anxiety provoking.
00:06:55
Speaker
And we had multiple people try to talk to him.
00:06:57
Speaker
Like we weren't letting him just sleep.
00:06:59
Speaker
Like Tim said something, Scott said something.
00:07:02
Speaker
I was like trying to talk to him, but he was just like not answering me.
00:07:05
Speaker
Like he said like maybe two words to me the entire trip and they were both.
00:07:09
Speaker
So I was like, is this a language barrier?
00:07:11
Speaker
Or like, are you ignoring me?
00:07:13
Speaker
Like, I'm not really sure, but yeah.
00:07:15
Speaker
We did what any good coaster club would do in that situation, and we sang songs to keep them awake.
00:07:26
Speaker
We made it safely.
00:07:29
Speaker
Yeah, that was that was interesting.
00:07:31
Speaker
It's like the most buzz bars thing ever just singing songs at a driver to keep them awake.
00:07:36
Speaker
Yeah, I literally I it just came to me.
00:07:39
Speaker
I was like, what can we do other than talk to this guy?
00:07:43
Speaker
I'm like, can we be loud and obnoxious?
00:07:44
Speaker
And I was like, yes, that's what we do.
00:07:47
Speaker
And normally I'm like, I'm over being loud and obnoxious.
00:07:50
Speaker
But in that moment, it was the best tool we had in our toolkit, to be honest.
00:07:55
Speaker
And like the funniest was that the songs were all themed to being awake.
00:08:01
Speaker
Like all the songs we were singing for a little stretch there were about not falling asleep and being awake.
00:08:08
Speaker
Shay, any input on the bus situation?
00:08:11
Speaker
Oh, it has plenty of input.
00:08:16
Speaker
It was half that, but then I was also asleep for a good portion of the time.
00:08:20
Speaker
So it was like a good 50-50.
00:08:22
Speaker
But then I don't know if maybe he had hit the little side.
00:08:28
Speaker
Oh, so the emergency exit.
00:08:31
Speaker
I don't know why it flew open, but it did fly open on the road of the highway.
00:08:37
Speaker
And there's just something about waking up from a nap and just seeing straight highway.
00:08:41
Speaker
Wait, were you right next to it?
00:08:44
Speaker
Yeah, so we were directly next to it.
00:08:47
Speaker
Like it was our row and then the little steps that go down to the little bathroom pod or whatever that is.
00:08:53
Speaker
And out of nowhere, and mind you, Tyler and Kelly were sitting right, their row was like right behind that spot.
00:09:01
Speaker
We were on that side, the side of the door, and Rafa and Shay were on the opposite side.
Becoming Theme Park Enthusiasts
00:09:06
Speaker
We were on the opposite, right.
00:09:07
Speaker
So we were facing it.
00:09:08
Speaker
It was directly to our right.
00:09:10
Speaker
But yeah, out of nowhere.
00:09:13
Speaker
It's funny because we heard wind coming in.
00:09:16
Speaker
It was so loud when it hit the side.
00:09:19
Speaker
I was right there.
00:09:20
Speaker
But leading up to it, I was like, wait, did they roll down a window or something?
00:09:23
Speaker
It sounds like wind is coming into the door.
00:09:26
Speaker
Like, I don't know where it's coming from.
00:09:28
Speaker
And then all of a sudden it just like flew, you know, and swung right over.
00:09:31
Speaker
No, my intrusive thought, I kept looking at the door and I was like, what if it opened?
00:09:35
Speaker
I was like, no, no, no, it's not.
00:09:39
Speaker
And I was like, oh, I see, I see.
00:09:43
Speaker
You manifested that, Shay.
00:09:46
Speaker
I fully thought that we hit something.
00:09:48
Speaker
I was like, that's it.
00:09:49
Speaker
He sideswiped somebody.
00:09:50
Speaker
That's what it sounded like and felt like because I could feel it.
00:09:54
Speaker
When it came back, it hit next to where my seat was.
00:09:58
Speaker
I was like, yeah, we-
00:10:01
Speaker
I was just expecting there to be like, we got in an accident.
00:10:05
Speaker
He closed his eyes.
00:10:06
Speaker
We took out a small car.
00:10:10
Speaker
Then I like turned my head and I just saw Shay's hair.
00:10:21
Speaker
But he was also a little too chill about it.
00:10:24
Speaker
He didn't say like, oh my goodness, the door's open.
00:10:26
Speaker
But then we kept running for a couple minutes and I was like, this man has no idea the door's open.
00:10:30
Speaker
He was too chill about everything.
00:10:32
Speaker
When he showed up two hours late, I was like, he opened the bus door and I was like, hey, are you for Buzz Bars?
00:10:38
Speaker
And he looked at me and he goes, yep.
00:10:42
Speaker
I was like, okay, well, you're two hours late, so we're going to get on here and get out.
00:10:48
Speaker
Oh, and then the K turn in the parking lot.
00:10:51
Speaker
Oh, the 16-point turn.
00:10:56
Speaker
I want to point out that my driver also went down that wrong road, but he made his K turn in one motion.
00:11:03
Speaker
It was a shorter bus, to be fair.
00:11:05
Speaker
It was a smaller bus.
00:11:06
Speaker
I'll give it that.
00:11:07
Speaker
And then, you know, we successfully got a second driver who was the man.
00:11:11
Speaker
He was jamming out with us, wanted us to play music.
00:11:14
Speaker
Oh, he was incredible.
00:11:16
Speaker
But we did have a little snafu with him, too.
00:11:19
Speaker
We turned down a country road that lasted a good half hour.
00:11:25
Speaker
And it was like one lane for a giant bus that we shouldn't have been going down.
00:11:28
Speaker
And it was also terrifying.
00:11:31
Speaker
So, you know, just all the things on the Bangers bus.
00:11:35
Speaker
Literally a comedy film because we're watching this massive bus go down this tiny, narrow road.
00:11:42
Speaker
And I'm like, hold on, please stop to my driver.
00:11:44
Speaker
And I read a sign that says, no coaches go down this road, turn around and go back to the resort entrance.
00:11:54
Speaker
we're not following that.
00:11:57
Speaker
So we backed up and turned around and got to the hotel.
00:12:00
Speaker
Literally everybody's checked in, everybody's in, and I'm still just waiting there for another like 20 minutes for the other bus to show up because they had to go all the way down the road and then turn around and come back.
00:12:12
Speaker
And then Kareem, shout out to Kareem, he said he only was fearful one time.
00:12:17
Speaker
That whole crazy road.
00:12:20
Speaker
That guy, he passed the ultimate driver's test.
00:12:24
Speaker
Like that was incredible.
00:12:27
Speaker
I didn't see what was going on because I was in the back and I feel like the windows are tinted so I could not see anything.
00:12:31
Speaker
But I hear from everybody that was up front that he was doing the impossible driving that bus.
00:12:41
Speaker
I'm glad I was in the back then.
00:12:43
Speaker
Well, I was one of the few people that was awake, and I saw the sign that said no coaches.
00:12:48
Speaker
And apparently he didn't see it.
00:12:50
Speaker
And I thought, you know, maybe he knew what he was doing because, to be fair, our GPS was saying to go that way.
00:12:59
Speaker
I was looking at it.
00:13:00
Speaker
I was ready to get there.
00:13:01
Speaker
It did say go down that road, but I think โ
00:13:05
Speaker
you were supposed to go according to what it said through like the theme park entrance, which was not open.
00:13:12
Speaker
So you had to go through the resort entrance, which we did not know.
00:13:15
Speaker
But the funniest thing was 30 minutes later, after we got all the way back around, I thought everybody knew that we took the wrong way, but he pulls up to the resort entrance and he was like, Oh, we were already here.
00:13:30
Speaker
I'm like, oh my gosh, dude, you didn't realize that we took a wrong turn?
00:13:40
Speaker
We all have bus trauma.
00:13:43
Speaker
Yeah, it was great.
00:13:44
Speaker
Yeah, because then Joey, because then your buzz had a little bit of a mishap later on, too.
00:13:48
Speaker
I mean, we took some wrong turns, for sure.
00:13:52
Speaker
Well, the back was open.
00:13:53
Speaker
The luggage door opened.
00:13:56
Speaker
I think leaving Alton Towers, the entire back luggage door was open.
00:14:04
Speaker
uh i think i called you too i think that's how we found out i think so yeah it's just like how did that even happen because we had loaded the luggage like way earlier i don't know anyway i'm just glad all the luggage made it because that was a whole nother thing where we had to transfer it with a van that was unexpected yeah
00:14:22
Speaker
Well, we can laugh about it now, but I was not laughing that first day.
00:14:28
Speaker
It was very, very stressful.
00:14:31
Speaker
I almost didn't handle it.
00:14:32
Speaker
Sorry to all the people that missed out on Chessington ERT, but I will say that if there was one to miss out on, that's probably, you know, the one to miss out on because Vampire is fun, but it's not like Hyperia.
00:14:44
Speaker
Yeah, I rode it one time and I was like, you know what?
00:14:46
Speaker
It's okay that I waited.
00:14:47
Speaker
Waited on that second bus.
00:14:50
Speaker
The queue was the best part of the ride.
00:14:52
Speaker
The queue was great.
00:14:54
Speaker
Actually, all of the queues there were really cool.
00:14:56
Speaker
Anyway, we're getting ahead of ourselves.
00:14:58
Speaker
So we're going to do our little interview segment with Shay.
00:15:04
Speaker
uh so this is going to be an interesting question for you i think but i'll just ask it the way it's written and then you can kind of explain okay um when and why did you become a theme park and roller coaster enthusiast so i feel like okay from florida disney and universal have always been you know there but i think definitely rafa joined the club and i will never forget his first ever
00:15:29
Speaker
event i was like be free little bird have fun you got you got this and then he came back and he was like oh my god it's so fun and i was like okay i'll check out the next one and then you guys are so welcoming and nice and i was like okay so that's that's how i got into it rafa for sure what was the first event that you went to you hershey yeah oh nice so a hurricane
00:15:55
Speaker
Which was funny because she didn't, like, I feel like she didn't even get to meet everybody on that event because it was raining.
00:16:00
Speaker
So everybody was like kind of doing their own thing the majority of the time.
00:16:04
Speaker
So you probably started talking to everybody more.
00:16:08
Speaker
No, Silver Dollar City, I think.
00:16:10
Speaker
I think Silver Dollar City was when she started to get to meet and, you know, talk to other people.
00:16:15
Speaker
But yeah, that was your first event.
00:16:20
Speaker
We love adding members who aren't necessarily complete rollercoaster nerds.
00:16:24
Speaker
They're just along for the ride.
00:16:29
Speaker
So now we're doing our little lightning round.
00:16:32
Speaker
You don't have to answer crazy fast, but we just go through these ones pretty quick.
00:16:36
Speaker
So what's your rollercoaster count?
00:16:50
Speaker
Favorite theme park.
Orlando Family Vacation
00:16:53
Speaker
Love Silver Dollar City.
00:16:54
Speaker
I think she's gorgeous.
00:16:55
Speaker
However, Fantasialand did make me feel some things.
00:17:04
Speaker
Yeah, we'll talk about that more.
00:17:05
Speaker
Rafa, it's coming around to you next.
00:17:08
Speaker
We need to know if we have a clean suite.
00:17:12
Speaker
Next park visit planned, if you have one.
00:17:16
Speaker
I'm going to see Six Flags Over Georgia.
00:17:23
Speaker
I wrote for a while ago.
00:17:23
Speaker
I totally forgot to bring it up to you, but we will be there on Saturday.
00:17:28
Speaker
I should be around.
00:17:29
Speaker
I can come to the park.
00:17:33
Speaker
Wood or steel coasters?
00:17:36
Speaker
Oh, wood all the way.
00:17:40
Speaker
Okay, so I don't know how it's too nerdy, but this is a weird question.
00:17:46
Speaker
So would you always skip over spooky season so you don't get to do any of the Halloween stuff?
00:17:53
Speaker
Or you can only ride roller coasters that were built in 2000 and earlier and Voyage is 2006.
00:18:03
Speaker
My only fear is when you say that, like I have to skip out like horror movies, haunted house, like everything's got to be done.
00:18:12
Speaker
I, I think I can't skip out on spooky season.
00:18:13
Speaker
So I'm going to have to go with a miss out on the earlier coasters.
00:18:19
Speaker
That makes Kelly happy.
00:18:24
Speaker
And what is your number one hobby outside of all of this rollercoaster nonsense?
00:18:29
Speaker
I like attending music, like music, concerts.
00:18:33
Speaker
I like live music.
00:18:34
Speaker
Oh, that's awesome.
00:18:35
Speaker
What's your favorite artist or like your favorite concert that you've been to?
00:18:39
Speaker
I can't pick one, but if I had to, probably Celine Dion, chef's kiss.
00:18:44
Speaker
Adele was also chef's kiss.
00:18:47
Speaker
You've been to some good concerts.
00:18:52
Speaker
What is your go-to drink?
00:18:58
Speaker
You can add seltzer water, but you don't have to.
00:19:01
Speaker
That is so hardcore.
00:19:09
Speaker
Just straight, no ice.
00:19:12
Speaker
You could add things if you want.
00:19:13
Speaker
Forget the rest of it.
00:19:14
Speaker
Just give it a tequila.
00:19:19
Speaker
The best pizza topping.
00:19:24
Speaker
If I have to just choose one, mushrooms, because I feel like all the other ones feel incomplete, like on their own.
00:19:30
Speaker
But I feel like I also really like pepperoni and pineapple.
00:19:35
Speaker
All of those are solid.
00:19:38
Speaker
Bucket list travel destination.
00:19:44
Speaker
I feel like the Maldives is so beautiful.
00:19:47
Speaker
Ooh, that's a good one.
00:19:50
Speaker
Your karaoke song.
00:19:53
Speaker
I hate being in the spotlight, so I don't have one.
00:19:55
Speaker
However, if I had to choose, probably I'll be there by the Jackson 5.
00:19:58
Speaker
Ooh, that's a good one.
00:20:02
Speaker
And a rollercoaster hot take that you have.
00:20:05
Speaker
I think the mummy in Universal Orlando belongs in a top five.
00:20:11
Speaker
She's in my top five.
00:20:15
Speaker
I didn't know where that was going to go.
00:20:17
Speaker
That is a hot take, but I'm not mad about it.
00:20:19
Speaker
That is a hot take, yeah.
00:20:22
Speaker
So I did obviously warn her on these questions, when it comes to these questions.
00:20:25
Speaker
And she was like, I don't know what to say for my hot take.
00:20:27
Speaker
And she was saying things that I was like, no, that's not you.
00:20:30
Speaker
Say something like the mummy related.
00:20:32
Speaker
Because she's obsessed with the mummy.
00:20:36
Speaker
So that is like the perfect.
00:20:37
Speaker
The hard break, the same mammogram you get.
00:20:46
Speaker
I mean, that is one of the best like dark ride themed coasters for sure.
00:20:56
Speaker
Well, now we're moving on to this massive trip that we took.
00:21:02
Speaker
And before the core buzz bars part of it even started, some of us were doing all kinds of shenanigans before that.
00:21:11
Speaker
And Kelly started out with something I would consider ill-advised, but maybe it went well.
00:21:17
Speaker
So let's hear about your adventures for the whole week before our UK trip started.
00:21:24
Speaker
So I went on a family vacation to Orlando.
00:21:28
Speaker
We did a one day at Epic Universe, which...
00:21:31
Speaker
I don't really have much to add from that day onto whatever we've already talked about with Epic other than the capacity was higher that day.
00:21:41
Speaker
I think when I looked at Thrill Data on how many tickets were sold, it was around 20,000.
00:21:47
Speaker
And for both of my preview days, it was under 10.
00:21:50
Speaker
So I definitely noticed the...
00:21:53
Speaker
Crowds were higher.
00:21:56
Speaker
And it was 97 degrees.
00:22:00
Speaker
So the lack of shade I really felt compared to the other times I was there, like especially in Burke, like I literally think I was like a fried egg on that sidewalk.
00:22:10
Speaker
It was so unbearable.
00:22:11
Speaker
Like I had to, I continued to just get snacks and food so I could like be in air conditioning to survive.
00:22:18
Speaker
Like, and of course my children were there.
00:22:21
Speaker
They took a break actually.
00:22:22
Speaker
Tom took them out of the park for like three or four hours in the middle of like the hottest part of the day for a nap and to get cool.
00:22:30
Speaker
And I suffered and it was so hot, but, um, the rides are great.
00:22:35
Speaker
I didn't get to do everything, but I also didn't care because I'd already been, I skipped things.
00:22:39
Speaker
I didn't even go in Nintendo whatsoever because those lines were like heinous, but I rode monsters a bunch.
00:22:45
Speaker
That seems to be the shortest queue overall.
00:22:47
Speaker
Now it's like 10 minutes all the time.
00:22:48
Speaker
So you can kind of just churn through people.
00:22:54
Speaker
I made the decision first thing in the morning, um,
00:22:58
Speaker
My rope drop strategy was really down to the wire.
00:23:01
Speaker
I even texted you guys, some of you guys, to ask what to do, what you would do.
00:23:06
Speaker
So for early entry now that the park is open, they have added Dark Universe.
00:23:10
Speaker
So you can go to Nintendo, Dark, or Stardust Racers.
00:23:14
Speaker
And we did not know what to do and decided last minute that we were going to use early entry to queue up outside of ministry and see if we could not wait in a two hour line.
00:23:28
Speaker
We walked right up.
00:23:29
Speaker
They let us get right up to the queue prior to park open.
00:23:32
Speaker
Even like they opened the portal during early entry.
00:23:35
Speaker
I don't know if that's always the case or how I didn't know how it was going to go.
00:23:39
Speaker
But we basically...
00:23:41
Speaker
waited in the queue inside in the air conditioning during early entry and rode the ride before park even opened technically.
00:23:48
Speaker
So that really worked out in our favor.
00:23:49
Speaker
Hopefully that's what they continue to do and people can utilize that strategy if they have early entry and that's an important ride for them.
00:23:57
Speaker
I rode Stardust Racers a bunch and the rattle is increasing.
00:24:02
Speaker
And that's all I have to say about Epic.
00:24:06
Speaker
Also shout out Craig.
00:24:07
Speaker
Didn't have to wait for, for a hiccup.
00:24:13
Speaker
And then I did six days, five days, five days in Disney World with the kids.
00:24:20
Speaker
All I really have to say about that, because I just want to keep it brief, is I talked a little bit about Lightning Lane before, like on our last episode.
00:24:29
Speaker
Like there's, if you have young kids and you want to avoid standing in lines, like you can fully do it.
00:24:34
Speaker
You just have to be willing to pay, which is kind of BS.
00:24:37
Speaker
But if you're only going to Disney, you know, infrequently, less frequently, even than I go, like it is worth the investment because the way they do lightning lane now is you can choose three before your day even begins.
00:24:49
Speaker
And then as you use them, you get to pick new ones.
00:24:51
Speaker
So you can pretty much stack your whole day full of lightning lanes and you don't have to wait in a single line if you choose to do that.
00:24:57
Speaker
So we did that the whole trip.
00:24:59
Speaker
It was very helpful because it was super hot.
00:25:03
Speaker
I carried my child a lot because they refused to sit in a stroller.
00:25:11
Speaker
I ate a lot of food at Disney and still somehow lost weight.
00:25:14
Speaker
And the somehow is because I carried my toddler, I guess not a toddler, my child, my four-year-old giant child around in 90-something degree weather for a week.
00:25:24
Speaker
We had a good time.
00:25:25
Speaker
We stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort, which is a moderate resort for Disney.
00:25:30
Speaker
We've stayed there a bunch before.
00:25:32
Speaker
We like it a lot because it has access to the Skyliner, which is great for park transportation.
00:25:37
Speaker
We really like that.
00:25:38
Speaker
It wasn't as nice as it had been in previous days.
00:25:43
Speaker
We actually had to switch out of our first room because it was like super moldy smelling and very hot.
00:25:47
Speaker
Like the air conditioning wasn't working.
00:25:48
Speaker
And we found this out after our full day at Epic at 10.30 PM that we had to move all of our stuff and switch rooms.
00:25:55
Speaker
So that like, wasn't a great start.
00:25:57
Speaker
That's not very Disney.
00:25:59
Speaker
I mean, they definitely accommodated it right away.
00:26:01
Speaker
As soon as you like complained, they were like, yes, take a different room.
00:26:04
Speaker
But it was just like, ugh.
00:26:06
Speaker
It was hard work to do all that.
00:26:08
Speaker
And then my other major complaint was like the food overall.
00:26:15
Speaker
And I'm like pretty picky about where I eat in Disney.
00:26:18
Speaker
Like if I find a place I like, we often will make reservations there and eat there like every time that we go.
00:26:25
Speaker
But we tried some new places this time, including Space 220, which was like really not great at all.
00:26:30
Speaker
Would not recommend.
00:26:31
Speaker
We waited an hour past our reservation time to be seated at Sci-Fi Dine-In.
00:26:36
Speaker
for like, you know, mediocre cheeseburgers and milkshakes.
00:26:41
Speaker
There just like was a couple of things that like, and then, you know, the customer service you expect when things don't go great at Disney, like wasn't really happening.
00:26:49
Speaker
It was just like, not as magical as it normally feels.
00:26:53
Speaker
And maybe it was just like the summer vibe.
00:26:55
Speaker
I haven't been in the summer in a couple of years, but yeah.
00:26:59
Speaker
Of course, I will return.
00:27:01
Speaker
I will probably go back next year because I can't stay away.
00:27:04
Speaker
But overall, those are the kind of downsides of the Disney vacation.
00:27:09
Speaker
The rides and the memories were great.
00:27:12
Speaker
Did the kids ride anything new this time?
00:27:15
Speaker
So last year, Amelia was afraid of everything.
00:27:17
Speaker
She was in her afraid stage.
00:27:19
Speaker
So she rode Space Mountain for the first time, Tron, Slinky Dog Dash, Xenoblade.
00:27:27
Speaker
And Benny pretty much rode everything last year, except for he wasn't tall enough.
00:27:32
Speaker
Expedition Everest and Space Mountain, he rode for the first time this year.
00:27:36
Speaker
He could not ride, oh, and Amelia rode Rock and Roller Coaster too, I forgot.
00:27:40
Speaker
So she was like ready for everything.
00:27:42
Speaker
The only thing they both did not ride was Tower of Terror.
00:27:44
Speaker
Ben rode it last year when he was three years old, which was like probably poor parenting, but you know that.
00:27:53
Speaker
And we rode Tiana's for the first time, which I love.
00:27:57
Speaker
I don't get the hate.
00:27:58
Speaker
I get that Splash Mountain is nostalgic, but like, come on now, people.
00:28:02
Speaker
It was a very cute ride and it still feels exactly like Splash Mountain.
00:28:08
Speaker
It looks adorable.
00:28:09
Speaker
I don't get why people are hating on it.
00:28:11
Speaker
I haven't done it yet, but it looks really cute.
00:28:15
Speaker
Well, all of us except Ben.
00:28:17
Speaker
Ben is in like a log flume hate era right now.
00:28:20
Speaker
So he only did it once and he was like, I don't like the log flume.
00:28:23
Speaker
So he only heard it once.
00:28:25
Speaker
But overall, it was a great time.
00:28:28
Speaker
I was definitely tired going into our trip, which I knew I would be, but I would do it again and I probably will next year.
00:28:38
Speaker
So just to clarify, Amelia rode Stardust Racers before she rode Space Mountain.
00:28:44
Speaker
And Slinky Dog Dash.
00:28:49
Speaker
This thing that happens, I've realized when kids are really young.
00:28:53
Speaker
So I'm saying like my kids rode their first cred at like 18 months old because they're huge.
00:28:59
Speaker
Um, so like, you know, infancy when they're tall enough to ride a ride till like three and a half, they have no idea what the hell's going on.
00:29:08
Speaker
So they'll do whatever you say.
00:29:09
Speaker
Come, come, come ride this ride.
00:29:12
Speaker
I would love to ride this ride.
00:29:13
Speaker
I'm going to smile and have a good time.
00:29:14
Speaker
I'm not going to know what the hell is going on and I'm going to love it.
00:29:17
Speaker
Then like three and a half hits till like five, they start to understand fear.
00:29:25
Speaker
Amelia went through it.
00:29:26
Speaker
She like wouldn't ride anything last year when Ben would.
00:29:28
Speaker
And I did not understand.
00:29:30
Speaker
And now Amelia is on the other side.
00:29:31
Speaker
She is riding big roller coasters.
00:29:33
Speaker
Now she's taller than 48 inches and she will ride most things.
00:29:37
Speaker
Ben is now in the afraid stage.
00:29:39
Speaker
So I think we're going to be good.
00:29:40
Speaker
He's going to come out of it soon and we'll be ready to go.
00:29:44
Speaker
But yeah, there's like a period of time where they just like are afraid of everything.
00:29:49
Speaker
realization sets in their brains work in a different way.
00:29:52
Speaker
Like I should be afraid of this.
00:29:54
Speaker
I wonder if like the Tower of Terror thing is related to that too, because it's like spooky vibes and it's designed to look, you know, scary.
00:30:02
Speaker
Amelia is now in her spooky girl era.
00:30:05
Speaker
She loves monsters.
00:30:07
Speaker
She wants everything to do with Dark Universe.
00:30:08
Speaker
So I told her like Tower of Terror is spooky.
00:30:10
Speaker
Like it's a drop tower, but like you'll really like the theme.
00:30:13
Speaker
Like if you just, you'll like it.
00:30:15
Speaker
She's like, can I just like go in the line and then not ride the ride?
00:30:21
Speaker
I don't really know how that's going to work because I'm riding the ride, girl.
00:30:27
Speaker
Yeah, she'll get there.
00:30:29
Speaker
She definitely has a, she still has like a little bit of a fear of like the belly drop feeling that you get with some air time.
00:30:35
Speaker
So that, that might erect her.
00:30:39
Speaker
Good times in the, in the, in the mouse.
00:30:43
Speaker
Well, we also had another exciting pre-trip event happen.
Fantasia Land Adventures
00:30:48
Speaker
Rafa and Shay and Caleb, Bethany and Zach and Ryan and Em, is that the whole list?
00:30:54
Speaker
And Jill all visited one of my favorite, my favorite park in the world.
00:31:00
Speaker
So tell us about it.
00:31:01
Speaker
And my favorite park too.
00:31:06
Speaker
There's no, there's nothing that compares to it.
00:31:10
Speaker
It exceeds every expectation.
00:31:11
Speaker
Like I was expecting it to be amazing and it was even more amazing than that.
00:31:16
Speaker
What are we talking about?
00:31:18
Speaker
Before you start, do you agree that it cannot be overhyped?
00:31:23
Speaker
It's like one of the only things that it literally cannot.
00:31:26
Speaker
And I think like for me, like I think it was just how immersive it is.
00:31:30
Speaker
And not only like immersive because of like how great the theming is, it's just โ
00:31:34
Speaker
they do such a good job at like keeping the rest of the park so hidden from each land.
00:31:40
Speaker
And I think that's what really got me.
00:31:42
Speaker
I think the only time that you'll see, you know, other areas of the park from one attraction would be Colorado.
00:31:50
Speaker
Is it the Colorado adventure one?
00:31:52
Speaker
Like when you go up the hill, you kind of can see over and you can see other things.
00:31:56
Speaker
But besides that, everything is so like just interesting.
00:32:00
Speaker
in its own little bubble and you can't see anything outside of that.
00:32:04
Speaker
So that, that was something that I love, but yeah, so we went, so the stubble started on Tuesday, the 24th.
00:32:10
Speaker
We left Wednesday, Wednesday,
00:32:13
Speaker
the week prior and we flew into Frankfurt and then we took a train from there to Cologne.
00:32:18
Speaker
And then we took the train from there over to the park.
00:32:22
Speaker
Um, and it was public transportation was so easy to get around over there.
00:32:27
Speaker
Like it was, it was great.
00:32:28
Speaker
I've done the same thing before and it's easy.
00:32:33
Speaker
But yeah, we went over to the park and we actually stayed at the Charles Lindbergh hotel, which was very cool, but it was really hot.
00:32:43
Speaker
And during the summer, it was, I think the day that we arrived was what, like in the eighties, almost nineties, if anything, it was really hot.
00:32:54
Speaker
And when we went into the room after the park, we noticed that it was not cooling down, like
00:33:02
Speaker
Like, and that was all of our rooms.
00:33:03
Speaker
I thought maybe it was just our room.
00:33:04
Speaker
Maybe we're just having, you know, our own little issue, but no, all the rooms were feeling really hot.
00:33:09
Speaker
Um, so I, I, I had like maybe three hours of sleep the one night that we stayed there, but I mean, besides the temperature, it was obviously you get a lot for what you pay for.
00:33:21
Speaker
Um, so I'm not mad about that.
00:33:23
Speaker
Um, so yeah, I don't think they, I don't think they have air conditioning.
00:33:29
Speaker
I've actually only stayed there in like, so I stayed there in September, November.
00:33:33
Speaker
And even then I remember it being warm in the room.
00:33:35
Speaker
So all we did was open the bathroom window and it like brought some breeze in.
00:33:39
Speaker
And then I've been there during winter when the heating is on and you can tell that the heating is on.
00:33:43
Speaker
So yeah, I forgot about that aspect that Europe is like, what's air conditioning?
00:33:49
Speaker
And the funny thing, it's funny that you mentioned the window.
00:33:52
Speaker
So Shay was, were you in the shower?
00:33:55
Speaker
And, you know, something in me said, girl, put something on.
00:33:58
Speaker
Don't just open this window.
00:34:00
Speaker
And I put a towel and I opened the door and one of the workers underneath was like, hello.
00:34:05
Speaker
And I was like, oh.
00:34:11
Speaker
So no additional air is coming in here.
00:34:15
Speaker
So that was my only complaint with that.
00:34:18
Speaker
And it's really just because of the season that we went.
00:34:20
Speaker
I'm sure that it was a lot more.
00:34:22
Speaker
pleasant I guess when you go in the cooler months because you don't feel the heat as much there or at least it feels nice when it's cold out and you have a little bit of warmth in the room but yeah in our case it was just really hot but yeah so we checked in and right off the bat we rode fly fly was the first ride that we did and that was so cool I loved it I love fly it wasn't my favorite in the park though
00:34:46
Speaker
Was not my favorite, but I did love it.
00:34:49
Speaker
Shay tends to hate flyers.
00:34:51
Speaker
And even though she wasn't the biggest fan, I think you enjoyed this a little more than.
00:34:56
Speaker
I did because I like that it right when it's over, you go right back up to sitting upright.
00:35:01
Speaker
They don't just leave you dangling there.
00:35:03
Speaker
Which that makes me feel so nauseous.
00:35:05
Speaker
Yeah, you tend to get nauseous with that.
00:35:06
Speaker
I got a couple points for that.
00:35:10
Speaker
The theming is insane.
00:35:13
Speaker
And it's funny because I would try to record parts of the ride.
00:35:16
Speaker
And it's so hard to do that because you don't know where it's going in and where it's coming out from.
00:35:22
Speaker
But my favorite in the park was Taryn.
00:35:26
Speaker
That ride is insane.
00:35:31
Speaker
I think I expected to like fly more and this like blew it out of the water.
00:35:40
Speaker
So yeah, those two were the highlights.
00:35:42
Speaker
Chiapas was another highlight for us.
00:35:45
Speaker
Amazing ride, water ride.
00:35:47
Speaker
That was a lot of fun.
00:35:49
Speaker
But all in all, I mean, like the park is just incredible.
00:35:51
Speaker
Like the immersion, the, there's no bad ride there in my opinion.
00:35:56
Speaker
Like, even though like I don't love everything, like I wasn't crazy about crazy bats or I wasn't like crazy about the, the family boomerang.
00:36:07
Speaker
I wasn't crazy about that either just cause I don't like boomerang.
00:36:10
Speaker
So it was just a preference thing.
00:36:12
Speaker
But everything is just great at that park and they take such good care of everything.
00:36:18
Speaker
The customer service is incredible there.
00:36:21
Speaker
I had no complaints, honestly, besides the hot room in Charles Lindbergh, but that was out of their control, really.
00:36:27
Speaker
But what else did we do over there?
00:36:32
Speaker
Oh, Mystery Castle.
00:36:36
Speaker
I had going into it.
00:36:37
Speaker
Zach was like, Oh, you guys are going to love this.
00:36:40
Speaker
But he was being very shady about it.
00:36:43
Speaker
And Shay and Jill do not like drop towers.
00:36:45
Speaker
So they were like, we don't know what this is.
00:36:47
Speaker
We're kind of scared going into it.
00:36:50
Speaker
But they ended up loving it.
00:36:51
Speaker
You did it like four times, I think, that day.
00:36:56
Speaker
Which we got very lucky.
00:36:57
Speaker
The lines were actually pretty short when we went.
00:37:01
Speaker
So that was great.
00:37:01
Speaker
But yeah, Mystery Castle was great.
00:37:05
Speaker
What else was a surprise?
00:37:11
Speaker
We should have had Ryan M. join for that because he is the biggest fan.
00:37:15
Speaker
I saw that he loved it.
00:37:17
Speaker
He got the shirt and everything.
00:37:21
Speaker
Gripping for my life.
00:37:22
Speaker
And they zoomed, I think, was it you or Jill?
00:37:24
Speaker
I think Shay or one of them, Shay or Jill got a video of us.
00:37:28
Speaker
And they zoomed into my face.
00:37:29
Speaker
And I have my face so like, I was like squeezing my eyes shut and I was holding on for dear life.
00:37:35
Speaker
And it was mostly because I was worried that I was going to puke all over everybody.
00:37:39
Speaker
Like I got so sick.
00:37:43
Speaker
I love the theming.
00:37:45
Speaker
The water and the fire effects were super cool to look at, but it's a very photogenic ride and I don't need to ride it.
00:37:51
Speaker
I can look at it from the outside.
00:37:52
Speaker
It's like the last 10 seconds.
00:37:54
Speaker
The last 10 seconds, if they removed that, like two flips, it would maybe be okay.
00:38:01
Speaker
It just goes a little bit beyond what someone can handle.
00:38:04
Speaker
Yeah, the four flips in a row is wild.
00:38:06
Speaker
It's easily the most intense ride in that park.
00:38:08
Speaker
I was so uncomfortable.
00:38:09
Speaker
I was like, get me off of this thing right now.
00:38:12
Speaker
I could not wait to get off.
00:38:14
Speaker
I hated it so much, but I appreciate it.
00:38:17
Speaker
It looks very cool.
00:38:19
Speaker
I'm sure that if I were a teenager, I would be able to stomach that with no problem and I would love it.
00:38:24
Speaker
So I'm sure for the younger people and for those like Ryan M who are just crazy, it's great for them, but it wasn't for me.
00:38:34
Speaker
That's not for me.
00:38:36
Speaker
What did you eat there?
00:38:38
Speaker
So we went, okay, so I don't have a lot to cover on that.
00:38:41
Speaker
And that's because I don't know what was going on with my stomach.
00:38:45
Speaker
I was scared of eating everything because my first day when we were in Cologne, like everything that I ate was not sitting well with me.
00:38:52
Speaker
So I was like, man, you know what?
00:38:53
Speaker
Let me just be careful here.
00:38:54
Speaker
But we did go to, I forgot the name of the restaurant.
00:38:59
Speaker
It was inside, it's right by Taryn.
00:39:02
Speaker
Oh, the one in the tavern, Rutmore's?
00:39:05
Speaker
Yes, yes, that one.
00:39:07
Speaker
So we went there and I got, there was like a flatbread that I got there, which was really good.
00:39:12
Speaker
It had like, what did it have in it?
00:39:15
Speaker
It had like potatoes, had arugula.
00:39:18
Speaker
Like it was a very good flatbread.
00:39:20
Speaker
So that was really good.
00:39:21
Speaker
And then I also went to the, we also went to the, one of the Mexican restaurants.
00:39:28
Speaker
which I got, there was a chicken mango, a chicken mango quesadilla, which was very good.
00:39:35
Speaker
That was really good.
00:39:37
Speaker
But I didn't try the crepe.
00:39:38
Speaker
I know you were saying to try the crepe Kelly.
00:39:42
Speaker
I was about to ask Bethany and Zach, they both tried different crepes.
00:39:47
Speaker
I think Bethany got like sweet, like a strawberry marshmallow one and
00:39:53
Speaker
So she tried that one.
00:39:54
Speaker
She really loved that.
00:39:55
Speaker
And then Zach got a savory one, but I can't remember which one it was.
00:39:59
Speaker
It was prosciutto and yeah, it was more on the savory side, which looked really good as well.
00:40:05
Speaker
I just didn't want to take any chances with my stomach, but everything looked very, very good.
00:40:09
Speaker
And the gelato was really good.
00:40:13
Speaker
Which one did we get?
00:40:14
Speaker
There was a banana one.
00:40:16
Speaker
That one was so good.
00:40:20
Speaker
Everything looked great.
00:40:21
Speaker
And I was just like, I would love to try all of this, but we had to take a train back to Cologne and I don't want to be like running to the bathroom.
00:40:29
Speaker
But it was it was great.
00:40:31
Speaker
Like, but all in all, like the park is just incredible.
00:40:35
Speaker
The immersion is incredible.
00:40:36
Speaker
The rides like there's I enjoyed all of them except for Talacan, but that's OK.
00:40:42
Speaker
What about the spinner?
00:40:44
Speaker
The special surprise on the spinner.
00:40:47
Speaker
The... Are you talking about Whinges?
00:40:52
Speaker
That was a lot of fun too.
00:40:54
Speaker
That I did not expect to enjoy.
00:40:57
Speaker
I didn't know what to expect from that actually.
00:41:00
Speaker
But that was really cool.
00:41:01
Speaker
And the little surprise that they have on there is pretty fun.
00:41:04
Speaker
The first time I wrote it, I got off and I was like immediately Googling because I had no idea what just happened.
00:41:12
Speaker
That was really fun.
00:41:14
Speaker
I didn't even know that was physically possible on the coaster.
00:41:17
Speaker
So we tried the first day.
00:41:19
Speaker
We tried, no, it wasn't fear.
00:41:22
Speaker
We tried force on the first day, which I enjoyed more.
00:41:26
Speaker
That's a better one, I think.
00:41:29
Speaker
That's the one with the airtime hill, I think.
00:41:32
Speaker
That one was really fun.
00:41:33
Speaker
And then we tried fear on the second day.
00:41:35
Speaker
But yeah, both were great.
00:41:37
Speaker
It was a really fun one.
00:41:41
Speaker
But, um, but yeah, no, the park in general is just, it's, it's great.
00:41:44
Speaker
I, it, nothing compares to it.
00:41:46
Speaker
It's for sure my favorite.
00:41:49
Speaker
Um, but yeah, I can't wait to go back.
00:41:51
Speaker
I want to go back so bad.
00:41:53
Speaker
That's the thing you leave and you're like, yeah, I'm going to come back.
00:41:56
Speaker
So it's like, you don't experience all the food, but you're like, ah, it's fine.
00:41:59
Speaker
I'm going to come back.
00:42:01
Speaker
You know, I definitely will try more of the food when we come back, but it was like, we definitely want to come back.
00:42:08
Speaker
It's crazy because two days was more than enough for us because we, the crowds were very light.
00:42:14
Speaker
But, but it's still, I still wanted to be there for more time because it was just so cool.
00:42:19
Speaker
Like you've got to go for winter trauma now, now that you've been there for the summer.
00:42:24
Speaker
Now that I've been for the summer, like I really would like to go during a different time of year because that was just a little too brutal and that's coming from the Floridian.
00:42:32
Speaker
So for us, it was a lot.
00:42:34
Speaker
Yeah, I definitely would like to see it in the winter.
00:42:38
Speaker
And Black Mamba was open for you, right?
00:42:40
Speaker
Because it was closed, like, right before you got there.
00:42:43
Speaker
So we were worried about that.
00:42:44
Speaker
And then they opened the day before we went.
00:42:48
Speaker
And thank God it stayed that way, which I loved.
00:42:51
Speaker
I know you guys all say that, like, B&M inverts are mid, but this was the best invert, in my opinion.
00:42:57
Speaker
No, it's a good one.
00:42:58
Speaker
It's the immersion of it that makes it special, I think.
00:43:01
Speaker
It's so, like, it's incredible, like, how that
00:43:05
Speaker
goes in and out of every little area in there.
00:43:07
Speaker
Like you can't see it.
00:43:08
Speaker
You don't know where you're going the entire time.
00:43:10
Speaker
And then the break run is pitch dark and you're like, where am I?
00:43:13
Speaker
The whole time I'm like wondering like where, what's going to happen now?
00:43:16
Speaker
Like, what are we doing?
00:43:17
Speaker
But yeah, I loved it.
00:43:18
Speaker
And I'm so glad that it was opened because we were really worried about that going into it.
00:43:23
Speaker
But we found out literally just the day before that it was, it was running again.
00:43:27
Speaker
So that was great.
00:43:29
Speaker
I'm glad you guys had a great time.
00:43:31
Speaker
I was like, it was still when I was in the second half of my Disney trip, but I was like refreshing Instagram like a crazy person.
00:43:38
Speaker
Like all of you guys were like my first couple people on my stories because I was like clicking on your accounts like a thousand times a day.
00:43:46
Speaker
I was like, oh my gosh, what are they thinking?
00:43:49
Speaker
You know what I think sets Fantasialand apart aside from everything we've already talked about?
00:43:53
Speaker
I think the reason that they do their like separate area theming so well is they work really well with vertical space compared to other parks.
00:44:02
Speaker
They're like geographically so limited as far as area.
00:44:06
Speaker
Like everything is like kind of built like on top of each other, which is like a very different feel than a lot of other parks.
00:44:15
Speaker
And it looks so cool.
00:44:17
Speaker
Like everything about it.
00:44:19
Speaker
I can't wait to go back.
00:44:23
Speaker
We have another convert.
00:44:24
Speaker
We'll go sometime.
00:44:28
Speaker
Get some Taryn ERT.
00:44:31
Speaker
So I'm, yeah, I'm glad you guys had an amazing time there.
00:44:33
Speaker
It's kind of hard not to.
00:44:36
Speaker
So the last little piece of our pre stumble stuff is Ireland.
Exploring Ireland and Dublin
00:44:42
Speaker
I think Tyler, what day did you arrive?
00:44:45
Speaker
I got there Saturday morning.
00:44:48
Speaker
So did I. OK, so a lot of us, some of us arrived early, even before our Monday visit to Emerald Park.
00:44:56
Speaker
So we can just kind of quickly go over what happened there.
00:45:00
Speaker
So on Saturday, I was with a small crew of Buzzbars fam, including Gary, who kind of helped me piece together what we were doing.
00:45:10
Speaker
And we drove out to kind of crazy to do, but like we arrived in Dublin and then immediately drove like two hours to the West on the way to the other coast.
00:45:19
Speaker
And we stopped at a castle.
00:45:21
Speaker
called Bunratty Castle that is like preserved.
00:45:25
Speaker
And so we got to sort of see the village outside of it that's preserved and then walk through the whole castle and see the different parts of it.
00:45:33
Speaker
It was it was pretty cool.
00:45:34
Speaker
And we also had a really delicious lunch there at a restaurant that's like right around the corner from it.
00:45:40
Speaker
I had like a beef stew, very Irish, and it was so flavorful and delicious.
00:45:45
Speaker
And then we went out and drove the rest of the way to the West Coast to see the Cliffs of Moher, which were very beautiful.
00:45:54
Speaker
We lucked out because the weather there can sometimes be like completely cloud obstructed and you can't see anything.
00:46:01
Speaker
Um, but when we got there, it was like cloudy, but visible.
00:46:04
Speaker
And then the sun came out while we were there.
00:46:05
Speaker
And so we have all these stunning photos of the cliffs and the sea and, and all of that.
00:46:11
Speaker
And, um, I'm really glad that we made the time to go out there, even though it was a bit of a drive and it was kind of terrifying to drive because the roads are very narrow and I was driving on the wrong side of the road, which is weird for me.
00:46:26
Speaker
And then we had a little Verbo that night that I found that has like a medieval tower attached to it, which had the best spooky vibes.
00:46:36
Speaker
I put some pictures of it in the Discord, but there were literally like melted candles and bones and...
00:46:43
Speaker
Just rope weird stuff.
00:46:45
Speaker
Yeah, I saw all those pictures and I'm like, whoa, that looks really cool.
00:46:47
Speaker
Yeah, it was wild.
00:46:49
Speaker
Like I didn't realize that we could access that area.
00:46:51
Speaker
There were no pictures of it on the actual listing.
00:46:54
Speaker
So then I walked up to it and I was like, okay.
00:46:57
Speaker
Greg went up there and he was like, no, no, there are spirits here.
00:47:02
Speaker
are you sure you were supposed to access that area you mean the way they had it decorated yeah does craig listen to us no probably not but he said the funniest stuff to me this trip i've ever heard in my entire life this man is funny we could have taken some great podcast pictures there
00:47:29
Speaker
And then the next day we spent in Dublin.
00:47:32
Speaker
So we drove from that Verbo back to Dublin and then we did like a walking tour in the morning.
00:47:38
Speaker
That was really nice just to kind of get some context of the city and like the history behind it and everything and just seeing some of the sites like a
00:47:46
Speaker
castle and the library and the bank and all kinds of things like that.
00:47:51
Speaker
And then we went to we got some lunch and we went to a traditional pub that had like Irish music playing, which was really cool just to see like Irish people playing their music.
00:48:03
Speaker
And then we went to the Guinness tour.
00:48:05
Speaker
Tyler, did you do that?
00:48:06
Speaker
I can't even remember.
00:48:07
Speaker
I didn't do the tour.
00:48:08
Speaker
I met up with people afterwards.
00:48:12
Speaker
So what were you doing earlier that day?
00:48:13
Speaker
And then we can kind of... No, what did you do on Saturday?
00:48:15
Speaker
The most Irish thing you could possibly do when you get to Ireland.
00:48:24
Speaker
Yeah, so... But it wasn't an Irish concert.
00:48:26
Speaker
Like, let's be real here.
00:48:28
Speaker
It was not an Irish concert.
00:48:31
Speaker
I went to the Zach Bryan concert, one of my favorite artists.
00:48:33
Speaker
He just happened to be playing that same night that we were there.
00:48:37
Speaker
So obviously I had to go.
00:48:40
Speaker
How did I not know?
00:48:42
Speaker
This is so funny because we were confused on Sunday walking around Dublin and we were like, why are all these Irish people wearing cowboy hats?
00:48:52
Speaker
And then we finally saw somebody.
00:48:53
Speaker
I think Brent had said something about like seeing a bunch of people in cowboy hats.
00:48:57
Speaker
I think it was another concert of his that was in London.
00:48:59
Speaker
He was there like the whole weekend.
00:49:01
Speaker
I finally saw a t-shirt and we were like, wait, what, Zachary?
00:49:04
Speaker
That's why there's all these cowboy hats.
00:49:07
Speaker
He played Friday, Saturday, Sunday in Dublin.
00:49:10
Speaker
And then he played Saturday, Sunday in London when we were also there.
00:49:15
Speaker
So I literally saw a t-shirt on Monday at Emerald Park of somebody with the Zach Ryan shirt.
00:49:20
Speaker
Like they had been to that concert.
00:49:23
Speaker
Yeah, Irish people love him, apparently.
00:49:24
Speaker
Yeah, it was a great concert.
00:49:28
Speaker
It was in Phoenix Park, which is just a massive city park on the west side of the city.
00:49:33
Speaker
It was deep in the park.
00:49:36
Speaker
We did not realize.
00:49:37
Speaker
It was me and Erica that went to it.
00:49:39
Speaker
It was legitimately a three-mile walk from when you enter the park to get to the venue.
00:49:46
Speaker
It was absolutely insane.
00:49:51
Speaker
I mean, it's literally just a city park.
00:49:53
Speaker
I don't know if they generally have concerts there.
00:49:56
Speaker
It didn't seem like it, but it was just a big field in the park.
00:50:01
Speaker
But let me tell you, these Irish people, they know how to drink.
00:50:05
Speaker
And it showed during this concert and this walk, like literally three miles.
00:50:10
Speaker
Girls were like squatting in the bushes, peeing on the way.
00:50:14
Speaker
Like a guy was like trying to tip over a freaking porta potty.
00:50:19
Speaker
And this was like 4.30 in the afternoon when we were walking over there.
00:50:25
Speaker
And then it was even worse walking home.
00:50:27
Speaker
Yeah, it was a good concert.
00:50:29
Speaker
Definitely got my steps in that day.
00:50:32
Speaker
And then, yeah, Sunday just kind of slept in, met up with Scott.
00:50:36
Speaker
We got lunch at a little pub near Temple Bar.
00:50:41
Speaker
And then I was going to try to get on that Guinness tour sort of last minute, but I guess tickets had sold out.
00:50:48
Speaker
So I was not able to do that, but I met up with some people afterwards.
00:50:54
Speaker
Joey, were you in our group that went to the Brazen Head?
00:50:59
Speaker
No, I fully bailed after the Guinness tour.
00:51:01
Speaker
That was a great tour, by the way, actually.
00:51:03
Speaker
It was really well done.
00:51:05
Speaker
There was like projection mapping and stuff that kind of explained the process.
00:51:08
Speaker
And they had little things for you to smell and like taste along the way.
00:51:12
Speaker
And at the end, you do like shots, basically.
00:51:15
Speaker
I mean, you can sip them, but they have like the different types of Guinness to taste, which was cool.
00:51:20
Speaker
Yeah, I bailed immediately after that to go to the castle that I rented.
00:51:25
Speaker
Oh, yeah, that's right.
00:51:28
Speaker
But yes, I mean, some people went to the Brazen Head, which apparently is one of the oldest pubs in Dublin or Ireland.
00:51:37
Speaker
It's like three stories, had a cool outside area, had a nice dinner.
00:51:42
Speaker
And I think some people went out drinking in Temple Bar.
00:51:48
Speaker
Got to sleep early that night.
00:51:49
Speaker
But yeah, it was cool just exploring that area of Dublin.
00:51:53
Speaker
I will say I wish I did get out of Dublin a little bit because it is not the prettiest city I've ever seen.
00:52:00
Speaker
It's just kind of brown everywhere.
00:52:05
Speaker
The buildings are not anything special.
00:52:07
Speaker
So I would have loved to see the countryside a little bit, but I'm sure I'll be back at some point.
00:52:12
Speaker
Yeah, definitely recommend.
00:52:14
Speaker
I mean, I can't say I recommend the driving part of it because that was stressful.
00:52:17
Speaker
But getting out in the country, it's like part of the Ireland experience.
00:52:21
Speaker
It almost seemed like because we you just see like ruins along the way and sheep and cows.
00:52:26
Speaker
And it's just yeah, it's interesting to see.
00:52:30
Speaker
And that night, yeah, I rented a castle for I think about 19 people from Buzzbars stayed at this castle.
00:52:38
Speaker
I just happened to find it on VRBO and I was like, hey, we can probably fill this thing.
00:52:42
Speaker
And it was only like 15 minutes from Emerald Park, which was great.
00:52:47
Speaker
And we just we just hung out in the castle that night, basically, and and went to sleep before the park day where Kelly finally joined us in Ireland.
00:52:57
Speaker
Yep, got there nice and early Monday morning and Scott picked us up and we got his rental car and he was hilarious driving on the other side of the road.
00:53:08
Speaker
It was really funny.
00:53:09
Speaker
I would have been freaking out the entire time.
00:53:12
Speaker
Like looking at the bus, when we were on the bus and I was looking at them driving on there, I'm like, I don't know if I would be able to do that.
00:53:20
Speaker
I will say that the drive from the airport to Emerald Park is significantly less stressful than the driving out on the west coast of Ireland.
00:53:28
Speaker
The roads are wider.
00:53:29
Speaker
Yeah, so what did we think of Emerald Park?
Emerald Park Experience
00:53:33
Speaker
Not much, apparently.
00:53:38
Speaker
Definitely, there's like standout attractions and areas that have definitely had more work put into them, and there's...
00:53:49
Speaker
you know, it's a small park.
00:53:53
Speaker
Um, there's a zoo attached to it, which was actually kind of fun and nice.
00:53:57
Speaker
Um, yeah, I mean, not the, not the best park of the trip for sure, but for, for what it is and what it has, it was still like a fun day.
00:54:09
Speaker
It was nice, nice weather.
00:54:12
Speaker
Yeah, we kind of lucked out with the weather like it sprinkled a little bit, but the forecasted rain never really did downfall, which is kind of something you expect in Ireland.
00:54:21
Speaker
So we lucked out on that.
00:54:24
Speaker
It was like not, you know, the best park in the world, but I think it was maybe a little more interesting than I expected because of the zoo and because there were more theme, more, more theming on some of their older attractions than I expected.
00:54:37
Speaker
Like that, that Dino Chase, was it called Dino Chase?
00:54:40
Speaker
Yeah, the like family cruds were well themed.
00:54:42
Speaker
Yeah, like it had a geyser and like all these animatronics dinosaurs on it, which was cute.
00:54:50
Speaker
Obviously, the standout attractions are Kukolin and Nafina Force, which are the Gravity Group wooden coaster and the brand new Vekoma suspended thrill coaster.
00:55:03
Speaker
I really enjoyed Fina Force.
00:55:05
Speaker
It's better than the STC at Tripsteril because it has more airtime and it's a little bit more positive forceful.
00:55:16
Speaker
Also, the interactions that it has with the station for its accompanying family boomerang are super cool.
00:55:25
Speaker
Yeah, I also loved it.
00:55:26
Speaker
It was my favorite in the park.
00:55:28
Speaker
And I think it is like right around...
00:55:31
Speaker
my top 50, it might be like a little bit inside it.
00:55:35
Speaker
I loved the sensation of the airtime on a invert.
00:55:40
Speaker
Yeah, it's unusual for it to feel that violent on an invert.
00:55:45
Speaker
Was it mid, Tyler?
00:55:48
Speaker
It was because, as we know, all inverts are mid.
00:55:51
Speaker
I thought that was just B&M.
00:55:53
Speaker
Oh, no, it's all of them.
00:55:54
Speaker
All inverts, okay.
00:55:56
Speaker
But it's towards the top of the mid.
00:55:58
Speaker
No, I did enjoy it.
00:56:01
Speaker
The biggest damper on this day was the children.
00:56:06
Speaker
We were... I was waiting for someone to bring that up.
00:56:11
Speaker
What seemed like the only group in the park that was not with a school group, it was all what we would say probably middle school age, maybe some high school.
00:56:21
Speaker
Some even younger.
00:56:22
Speaker
Like when we were in line for the โ
00:56:25
Speaker
I don't know if it's a log or whatever.
00:56:28
Speaker
They were probably like 10, 11, 12.
00:56:32
Speaker
And they were out of control.
00:56:33
Speaker
Very few chaperones.
00:56:35
Speaker
These kids were just shoving each other in line, being so obnoxious, screaming, messing with the theming.
00:56:43
Speaker
I know one member of our group that day, he had Coke poured on him in line because the kids thought it was funny.
00:56:50
Speaker
These kids were out of control.
00:56:51
Speaker
And it really, I think, stressed some people out.
00:56:56
Speaker
Yeah, that was definitely a low point was the kids.
00:57:00
Speaker
And to be fair, we were warned about this.
00:57:02
Speaker
Emma told us that the school trips this time of year are insane.
00:57:07
Speaker
And I did not believe her.
00:57:08
Speaker
I've been to plenty of U.S. parks.
00:57:11
Speaker
I've seen the school trips on Fridays.
00:57:12
Speaker
It's like, oh, it's not that bad.
00:57:14
Speaker
No, she was 100 percent correct.
00:57:17
Speaker
It was the worst there, though.
00:57:18
Speaker
It was the worst there.
00:57:21
Speaker
They they like loaded that day.
00:57:23
Speaker
Like they must have reached out to schools and been like, come this day because there were so many.
00:57:30
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, luckily, I think a lot of us stayed most of the day at the park, actually.
00:57:36
Speaker
And towards the end of the day, they leave early.
00:57:38
Speaker
And so the queues kind of go down and they they get out of there, which that was nice.
00:57:43
Speaker
I did want to give a shout out to the food location there, the lodge.
00:57:48
Speaker
That was actually really good.
00:57:50
Speaker
I got like this chicken mac and cheese thing with roasted potatoes and those potatoes were so good.
00:57:57
Speaker
It was just unexpected for theme park food.
00:58:01
Speaker
I will say though that like that was really the only viable food option.
00:58:06
Speaker
Like the other, there were a couple of like stands that were open, but the lines were heinous for them.
00:58:12
Speaker
Like we would have never been able to get food quickly.
00:58:16
Speaker
So, and there were a lot of like food locations on the map that just weren't open.
00:58:19
Speaker
So that was like a little bit frustrating, but also I was probably hangry.
00:58:23
Speaker
We waited a little too long to eat probably.
00:58:26
Speaker
I was like, where is the food?
00:58:29
Speaker
I'm thinking the kids had the same little meal pass we did.
00:58:34
Speaker
I watched them using it.
00:58:36
Speaker
So that didn't help.
00:58:38
Speaker
What did we think of Kukolin?
00:58:41
Speaker
I was underwhelmed.
00:58:43
Speaker
I think it met my expectations because I had heard like that it was good, but not great.
00:58:49
Speaker
And that's kind of how I feel about it.
00:58:51
Speaker
Like there was some good airtime.
00:58:53
Speaker
It's a little rough, but not like terrible, in my opinion.
00:58:58
Speaker
But it does kind of lose some momentum at the end of the ride.
00:59:01
Speaker
And that brings it down for me a little bit.
00:59:04
Speaker
I rode in the back both times or towards the back.
00:59:07
Speaker
My second ride was much better than the earlier ride.
00:59:09
Speaker
So definitely like warmed up.
00:59:10
Speaker
Like the drop was really good in the back.
00:59:12
Speaker
And then I think just progressively doesn't keep its pacing up for the rest of the ride, like you said.
00:59:17
Speaker
But I think when you're the only wooden coaster in like a country, you know, you probably have a little bit of an inflated reputation.
00:59:26
Speaker
It's definitely a long ride.
00:59:27
Speaker
It was longer than I expected.
00:59:30
Speaker
It almost feels like it doesn't need to be that long because it just dies in those last 10 seconds or so.
00:59:36
Speaker
But like Kelly said, the first drop in the back row was really good, actually.
00:59:41
Speaker
But that was easily the highlight.
00:59:43
Speaker
It's just not too much after that, but...
00:59:49
Speaker
But I'm excited to see kind of where they go in the future because the new section that they added, the Tir Nanag Everlasting Youth or whatever it's called, is very well done.
01:00:00
Speaker
The way that the boomerang goes up a spike in a tower and the stations and everything look really cool.
01:00:06
Speaker
The landscaping is nice.
01:00:08
Speaker
And I imagine that if they do another edition, it'll be in that vein, which is quite nice.
01:00:14
Speaker
Yeah, really well done.
01:00:15
Speaker
Unclear what the heck the story is.
01:00:17
Speaker
We were trying to figure that out for a very long time, but the theming looked really nice.
01:00:23
Speaker
Did you, Joey, did you do the log flume thing?
01:00:26
Speaker
We kind of wanted to, but then just ended up not doing it.
01:00:30
Speaker
I feel like not many people did it.
01:00:32
Speaker
I really enjoyed it.
01:00:32
Speaker
There was like a backward section, a couple of drops.
01:00:36
Speaker
I mean, it looks good.
01:00:36
Speaker
That's why three drops.
01:00:40
Speaker
It was a bit of a soaker, I would say.
01:00:43
Speaker
Yeah, that's why we weren't prepared.
01:00:46
Speaker
And it was not the hottest day.
01:00:49
Speaker
And it was a little windy, too.
01:00:54
Speaker
Did you do anything between the park and the airport or no?
01:00:59
Speaker
No, I don't think so.
01:01:01
Speaker
We went to the beach.
01:01:05
Speaker
I think I saw those pictures you guys put, right?
01:01:08
Speaker
I think I saw that looks so nice.
01:01:12
Speaker
It was just nice to like do, like I knew that I wasn't going to have time to see much of the country because I was obviously there just for a couple of hours, but I was like, I need to get near water.
01:01:20
Speaker
So we just like looked where we could go.
01:01:22
Speaker
That was kind of near the airport and we just found a little beach.
01:01:28
Speaker
Did you get Guinness?
01:01:29
Speaker
Scott and Tom got Guinness and then we walked on the beach and that made me very happy.
01:01:36
Speaker
Yeah, I didn't have a Guinness, but yeah, we just found the beach.
01:01:41
Speaker
past the airport, but only by like 20 minutes, because we really didn't want to deal with Dublin traffic again.
01:01:46
Speaker
So like, what can we do to kill some time that's also fun without hitting the traffic?
01:01:51
Speaker
So it's only 20 minutes out of the way.
01:01:52
Speaker
It's super worth it, I would say.
01:01:54
Speaker
We found this little...
01:01:56
Speaker
This little pub, easily the youngest people there by 30 years.
01:02:02
Speaker
It was weird vibes in there.
01:02:03
Speaker
Yeah, kind of got stared at when we walked in a little bit.
01:02:11
Speaker
The beach was so beautiful.
01:02:12
Speaker
Like, it was like perfect weather.
01:02:15
Speaker
Like, that was honestly, if I'm thinking back over the whole trip, like one of the highlights for me, I think.
01:02:21
Speaker
But I'll always say that about a beach.
01:02:27
Speaker
I'm glad you had a little non theme park moment in that country.
01:02:31
Speaker
It was a moment before you had to leave.
01:02:35
Speaker
So then, yeah, like 54, I think of us crowded on a British Airways airplane and flew across the pond again to London that night and checked into our hotel kind of late.
01:02:51
Speaker
And Shay and Rafa, you guys, did you arrive that day earlier, though, right?
01:02:56
Speaker
Yeah, we arrived around noon, I think, or 11 o'clock.
01:03:03
Speaker
Yeah, it was pretty early, even though we did almost miss our flight.
01:03:07
Speaker
Yeah, that was a very stressful situation.
01:03:10
Speaker
So Shay and I got through security without any issues.
01:03:14
Speaker
And then the rest of the group, they were in a different line.
01:03:18
Speaker
And I guess that their machine was starting to have issues.
01:03:22
Speaker
It started pulling everyone's bag.
01:03:23
Speaker
Yeah, it started pulling everybody's bag to get checked.
01:03:27
Speaker
So they were like, wait, no, something's going wrong.
01:03:29
Speaker
So they had to recalibrate it.
01:03:31
Speaker
And while that's going on, I think Bethany's bag was in the machine still.
01:03:36
Speaker
Her bag was still in the machine.
01:03:37
Speaker
I think her bag was still in there along with Caleb's.
01:03:41
Speaker
Um, and that was, that was stressful because it took them like about an hour to get them through.
01:03:47
Speaker
They were waiting there for almost an hour.
01:03:49
Speaker
And at first we're like, okay, we're good.
01:03:51
Speaker
We have plenty of time.
01:03:52
Speaker
Yeah, because we're all on the same flight.
01:03:53
Speaker
So we're not going to wait.
01:03:55
Speaker
Wait, this is Frankfurt or Cologne?
01:03:56
Speaker
This was in Cologne.
01:03:59
Speaker
So we were there and Shay and I were just waiting there.
01:04:01
Speaker
We're like, okay, it's been some time, but we're still good on time.
01:04:04
Speaker
We still got about an hour to go.
01:04:06
Speaker
Eventually we were like reaching like 20 minutes until the flight was leaving.
01:04:11
Speaker
We were like, all right, well, you know what?
01:04:12
Speaker
Shay and I are just going to go and try to hold them off and tell them, hey, we have them.
01:04:15
Speaker
They're stuck at security.
01:04:17
Speaker
See if maybe we can try to hold off as much as possible.
01:04:22
Speaker
And we got there and they were like, yeah, but the pilot wants to leave already.
01:04:25
Speaker
They were telling us, no, we're not waiting for them.
01:04:28
Speaker
And I was like, oh my God.
01:04:29
Speaker
That would have sent me.
01:04:31
Speaker
No, and they were freaking out.
01:04:33
Speaker
And it's funny because Zach was trying to calm everybody down and he was like, we're good.
01:04:37
Speaker
I think we have time.
01:04:39
Speaker
But as he was saying that, he was like looking at his phone, looking at train options to like, you know, seven hour train ride.
01:04:48
Speaker
Like he was like figuring something out and
01:04:51
Speaker
It was so stressful, but we made it and we were the last ones on the plane.
01:04:55
Speaker
The pilot did not have to leave because he wasn't cleared to leave yet.
01:04:58
Speaker
So we still had an extra 45 minutes on the tarmac, which, you know, that's cool.
01:05:03
Speaker
Added stress for nothing, but we were literally the last ones that got into the plane.
01:05:08
Speaker
Probably about, I think I saw them walk through like 10, like, I think it was like, no, not even 10 minutes.
01:05:15
Speaker
I think like five minutes before takeoff and...
01:05:19
Speaker
Yeah, we got very lucky with that.
01:05:21
Speaker
But we almost missed the flight, but we made it... What was that?
01:05:24
Speaker
That's terrifying.
01:05:25
Speaker
We had, like, a little bit of a bag snafu in Ireland, too.
01:05:30
Speaker
We went through security, Tyler went through, I went through, and then Tom's bag got flagged.
01:05:36
Speaker
And like we went past, he said, go ahead.
01:05:38
Speaker
We like went to the bathroom, whatever.
01:05:40
Speaker
And we were like standing on the other side, waiting for him for like, how long do you think that was?
01:05:43
Speaker
At least like a half hour.
01:05:47
Speaker
And then he came through, imagine this man just looking so pissed.
01:05:52
Speaker
I'm like, oh my gosh, what is setting it off?
01:05:54
Speaker
Well, apparently it was like everyone's bag were setting it off and they just kept sending them back through, sending them back through, sending them back through.
01:06:01
Speaker
And it was like taking that long.
01:06:03
Speaker
Like, I don't, I'm sure there were other people on our trip that were affected by it too.
01:06:06
Speaker
Like something was wrong with the...
01:06:08
Speaker
with the system it was just like flagging everything yeah well they said it had to be recalibrated right that's that's where it kind of threw us off though because they were saying we got to recalibrate it but it's like okay but like you guys are whole literally they were just holding up our group there like everybody else was able to be moved over to another one another line so they can get their bags checked they were stuck there the entire time and we were just kind of like okay like it's kind of been almost an hour
01:06:32
Speaker
we're about to miss our flight like what's going on and eventually like i don't know what sped up the process but eventually they checked their bags and they were good to go but yeah we were running to that gate and um yeah that was that was in there it was a pretty far gate too so of course it was it wasn't a close one but we made it and um and yeah i mean at least we made it on time and we didn't have to look for
01:06:58
Speaker
an eight hour train or whatever Zach was looking at.
01:07:00
Speaker
But yeah, it was kind of stressful.
01:07:03
Speaker
But we made it over to London around noon and we just hung out there.
01:07:09
Speaker
We had- We found a petting zoo.
01:07:11
Speaker
We did, we found a petting zoo nearby.
01:07:14
Speaker
Yeah, we did that because we were gonna go to the city and then we were like, we kind of don't feel like doing that right now.
01:07:20
Speaker
We don't feel like traveling out and we were kind of exhausted from the past two days in Vintageland.
01:07:27
Speaker
Um, so yeah, we just chilled.
01:07:29
Speaker
We did the petting zoo and then we just hung out at the hotel for the rest of the day.
01:07:33
Speaker
We were going to wait on you guys, but, um, you guys showed up.
01:07:39
Speaker
Is that the night that you guys went to pheasant?
01:07:42
Speaker
That's actually what we did first.
01:07:43
Speaker
So when we checked in,
01:07:46
Speaker
I had fish and chips there, which was delicious.
01:07:49
Speaker
And then after that was when we went to the petting zoo.
01:07:53
Speaker
And after that, we just stayed at the hotel the rest of the day.
01:07:57
Speaker
Preserving energy.
01:07:58
Speaker
We love to do that.
01:08:00
Speaker
We were already exhausted and we're like, wow, we have like
01:08:03
Speaker
We have like a whole stumble ahead of us.
01:08:06
Speaker
We got to like chill for tonight.
01:08:08
Speaker
So at this point, everyone had arrived to London and we were officially starting Stumble Across the Pond.
01:08:16
Speaker
Our first day was at Chessington Worlds of Adventure.
01:08:21
Speaker
We already talked about the bus trauma.
01:08:24
Speaker
So my bus was late, but we still made it to the park in time for our morning ERT on Vampire, which was a fun time.
01:08:33
Speaker
You know, it's not the most thrilling coast in the world, but we still enjoyed it.
01:08:37
Speaker
And then I think eventually the bangers bush made it to the park, despite some wrong turns and some wacky turns and y'all made it.
01:08:47
Speaker
So and we stayed at the park, I think, until 3 p.m.
01:08:52
Speaker
So not the full day, but I don't think that we needed it.
01:08:54
Speaker
I don't know how you guys felt about it, but we had a shorter day there.
01:08:59
Speaker
And I don't I really enjoyed the park.
01:09:02
Speaker
It was I tried not to like overly research stuff so I wasn't spoiled kind of.
01:09:10
Speaker
And I thought the theming, although like some of it is aged, it's still there.
01:09:17
Speaker
The queues are very themed, even though some of them are super long.
01:09:21
Speaker
And the rides were not amazing, but they were fun.
01:09:25
Speaker
I enjoyed Mandrill Mayhem.
01:09:27
Speaker
It's kind of weird, but it was fun, especially in the back row.
01:09:33
Speaker
Oh, you don't like backwards.
01:09:34
Speaker
I did not know that it wants backwards.
01:09:40
Speaker
I did not know that it launched backwards.
01:09:42
Speaker
Oh, so you were like, what is it?
01:09:48
Speaker
I thought Dragon's Fury was fun.
01:09:51
Speaker
We did some of the other like non coaster rides that were cute.
01:09:56
Speaker
The little Gruffalo water ride.
01:09:59
Speaker
the Tutankhamen, not Tutankhamen.
Amusement Park Highlights
01:10:02
Speaker
The Tomb Pharaoh's Tomb something ride.
01:10:06
Speaker
It was Tomb Blasters.
01:10:08
Speaker
Yeah, that was really fun.
01:10:11
Speaker
I'm trying to think of what my, oh, the croc drop.
01:10:16
Speaker
That was an okay drop tower.
01:10:18
Speaker
It was, it was themed.
01:10:20
Speaker
Yeah, it was themed.
01:10:21
Speaker
It was very friendly.
01:10:23
Speaker
Yeah, it looks like for me was the Gruffalo little water ride and the queue of vampire.
01:10:30
Speaker
The queue for vampire was so cool.
01:10:34
Speaker
I feel like I didn't even get to like fully take it in because I was like, OK, we got to like get to the ride.
01:10:42
Speaker
Anything else from anybody else?
01:10:44
Speaker
Was that the one with all the cool animal exhibits?
01:10:48
Speaker
These parts are kind of like blending together in my mind.
01:10:53
Speaker
Yeah, it's kind of a zoo as well.
01:10:57
Speaker
What was the animal, Kelly?
01:10:58
Speaker
The squirrel monkey?
01:11:01
Speaker
No, it was not Emerald.
01:11:03
Speaker
We didn't see a lot of the animals at Chessington.
01:11:05
Speaker
We saw them at Poulton and Emerald.
01:11:07
Speaker
I was going to say, like, Poulton had animals, too.
01:11:10
Speaker
Did anybody do the safari there?
01:11:14
Speaker
I wanted to, but we ran out of time.
01:11:15
Speaker
Because I have, like, a Kilimanjaro safari-type ride where you get on a car and it drives around through the animals.
01:11:23
Speaker
But I did do one of the animal trails, and it was nice.
01:11:25
Speaker
Like, it was well done.
01:11:27
Speaker
I saw, like, the gorillas and a fox and some lions and stuff, and...
01:11:32
Speaker
they were that part like the zoo section was right where we entered the park and then all of the rides are kind of on the other side so it was very much like separated into two pieces almost so it was very easy to miss the zoo if you just stayed on the side with with the rides and stuff they're like big water ride was down the whole day which was kind of bummer because i would have ridden it it was warm that day yeah which one was that
01:11:56
Speaker
It was like in the back.
01:11:57
Speaker
Like it was like a raft, more of a raft water ride, I think.
01:12:01
Speaker
Because I think we looked to do the log flume.
01:12:03
Speaker
And that was closed.
01:12:04
Speaker
There was a small one.
01:12:05
Speaker
Yeah, there was a small one open.
01:12:07
Speaker
Wasn't the log flume closed also?
01:12:11
Speaker
That was supposed to be good.
01:12:13
Speaker
So we missed that.
01:12:14
Speaker
I'm pretty sure that's the one that just didn't even have any water in it.
01:12:20
Speaker
We were like, that's not going to happen.
01:12:22
Speaker
Middle of June and no water in your water ride.
01:12:27
Speaker
I think overall a little bit more of a positive experience than I anticipated.
01:12:33
Speaker
Rides not great, but the atmosphere and the theming.
01:12:36
Speaker
I mean, I think Europe just is seeming better everywhere.
01:12:40
Speaker
Yeah, it was it was a cute park.
01:12:42
Speaker
I mean, out of all the parks that we visited, this was my least favorite.
01:12:45
Speaker
But I'm not saying that like in a negative way, like that it's a bad park or anything like that.
01:12:49
Speaker
It's just my least favorite out of the ones that we did.
01:12:53
Speaker
But it was I think there's a lot of charm to it.
01:12:54
Speaker
I think there's a lot to do there, especially for the kids.
01:12:58
Speaker
So I think that was a really neat park.
01:13:00
Speaker
And for us, I feel like.
01:13:04
Speaker
staying until three was more than enough time, even though I would have liked to have seen, you know, the, what you just mentioned, the little safari thing and stuff like that.
01:13:13
Speaker
But all in all, I mean, we, we got to hit up everything that we wanted really.
London Sightseeing and Shows
01:13:21
Speaker
So we finished up our day at Chessington and took another bus ride into London directly from the park.
01:13:28
Speaker
We were dropped off at Westminster Pier.
01:13:32
Speaker
And I think all of us were on the boat, right?
01:13:35
Speaker
Yeah, so we took a Thames River cruise together with 60 plus of our Buzz Bars fam.
01:13:44
Speaker
And it was a memory I'll have seeing the queue of Buzz Bars members for the bar on the boat when we first got on.
01:13:53
Speaker
That was hilarious.
01:13:54
Speaker
And there was like, I think one bartender and it took them a while to get through all those people.
01:14:00
Speaker
But I'm glad that we did that.
01:14:01
Speaker
It was a nice way to kind of see some highlights without spending a lot of time walking.
01:14:09
Speaker
I really enjoyed it.
01:14:11
Speaker
Weather was great for London.
01:14:13
Speaker
And apparently a lot of you guys didn't, couldn't hear the announcer on the first boat ride, but he had the best dry British humor.
01:14:24
Speaker
He was very witty.
01:14:25
Speaker
Me and Eric were at the front of the boat and we were just dying laughing at some of his jokes.
01:14:31
Speaker
Yeah, I didn't hear him.
01:14:32
Speaker
We couldn't really hear him that well.
01:14:33
Speaker
I heard the guy on the way back.
01:14:34
Speaker
But yeah, the guy on the way back did it too.
01:14:38
Speaker
This guy was way funnier than the second guy.
01:14:40
Speaker
I'm sad you guys missed it.
01:14:43
Speaker
Yeah, we saw some cool sites.
01:14:44
Speaker
He was just pointing out different landmarks down the Thames River.
01:14:49
Speaker
Then we got off at one pier and spent, what, 15 minutes before we got back on again.
01:14:56
Speaker
It's always just funny to see people when we're in this group and we have to tell them a number and see their reaction when we tell them how many people are in our group.
01:15:07
Speaker
I just remember the guy, I think Kelly, you were leading and you were like, yeah, we have 63.
01:15:12
Speaker
And he was just like, okay, you're good.
01:15:15
Speaker
And didn't even check tickets.
01:15:18
Speaker
I was nervous about this because it was only one ticket.
01:15:21
Speaker
It was a group ticket, one barcode and like all of us.
01:15:25
Speaker
And I was like, we have to stay in a single file line so that like people don't get in between us.
01:15:29
Speaker
Like it's going to get screwed up if they're counting us.
01:15:31
Speaker
And then when they heard the number, they just did not give a single shit.
01:15:34
Speaker
They were like, whatever.
01:15:38
Speaker
I was like, okay, that was stress for no reason.
01:15:43
Speaker
Yeah, the weather actually, yeah, we all have like sunny pictures of Big Ben and the river and everything, which is kind of unusual for London.
01:15:51
Speaker
So it was a beautiful day.
01:15:53
Speaker
Lucked out for sure on that.
01:15:54
Speaker
And then after the boat, I think everybody kind of split off and did separate things in the city.
01:15:59
Speaker
I went to a show called Titanic, which is a Celine Dion spoof musical.
01:16:06
Speaker
And she's telling the story of Titanic.
01:16:08
Speaker
It's high like comedy ridiculousness.
01:16:12
Speaker
Um, and shout out to, let's see who came with me.
01:16:15
Speaker
You guys had a pretty big group there.
01:16:17
Speaker
We ended up with one and it was originally only me and Jillian that were going to go.
01:16:21
Speaker
And then somehow, um, Brett and Tony were like, wanted to come along.
01:16:26
Speaker
And then Don convinced Javi and, um, James Haley to come as well.
01:16:30
Speaker
So all of us went, we got drinks before we ran out of time for food.
01:16:34
Speaker
Um, but we loved it.
01:16:35
Speaker
I think everybody loved it and had a great time at that show.
01:16:38
Speaker
Um, and then we just went back to the bus.
01:16:40
Speaker
What did everybody else get up to?
01:16:42
Speaker
We did a Jack the Ripper tour.
01:16:46
Speaker
So we did that, which was, it was cool, but the lady that we had, like, showing us around, she was very...
01:16:55
Speaker
That was her passion.
01:16:56
Speaker
Yeah, she was very theatrical.
01:16:58
Speaker
She was very passionate about it.
01:16:59
Speaker
So it was kind of fun.
01:17:00
Speaker
It added to the experience.
01:17:04
Speaker
We were walking to each location that was significant to the story.
01:17:11
Speaker
I stopped paying attention halfway through, not going to lie.
01:17:13
Speaker
I was kind of like, okay, I think I'm good.
01:17:15
Speaker
I'm kind of tired now.
01:17:16
Speaker
But no, very cool tour.
01:17:18
Speaker
We got to visit a bunch of different areas.
01:17:22
Speaker
And then after that, I think we...
01:17:24
Speaker
I think that was all we did.
01:17:25
Speaker
Yeah, because it was like a two and a half hour tour, a two hour tour.
01:17:29
Speaker
It was a cool tour.
01:17:31
Speaker
How about you guys?
01:17:33
Speaker
Yeah, so I wanted to do the Jack the Ripper tour, but also it was my first time in London.
01:17:38
Speaker
So I wanted to see the sights with my limited time.
01:17:41
Speaker
So Kelly and I stuck together with...
01:17:45
Speaker
um let's see blake larson and grant and we just basically walked what five or six miles through london probably we walked more than they did they kind of quit but it started out great because on the other side of the river like there were a bunch of different like little food booths and like just different things that we all kind of tried by the london eye pieces of yeah yeah yeah
01:18:12
Speaker
And James and Blake had already been, so they kind of like were leading and it was, it was great.
01:18:18
Speaker
Like, cause they knew where to go and we were kind of just following.
01:18:20
Speaker
And then we got, we crossed the Harry Potter bridge and got back to the other side and did some sightseeing.
01:18:26
Speaker
And they eventually were like, yeah, we're going to go to a pub.
01:18:29
Speaker
And we just kept walking to see more, but we did a good job.
01:18:33
Speaker
We definitely walked a lot.
01:18:34
Speaker
It was probably over six miles by the end of it.
01:18:36
Speaker
Did you go past Buckingham palace?
01:18:41
Speaker
A little underwhelming.
01:18:44
Speaker
It was also kind of like dusk, so I feel like there wasn't much going on, obviously, at that time.
01:18:51
Speaker
But I'm glad we did it.
01:18:53
Speaker
I wish we had a little bit more time.
01:18:55
Speaker
I would have loved to do Jack the Ripper.
01:18:56
Speaker
I would have loved to see a show.
01:18:57
Speaker
If we had another day, I would have tried to do all of that stuff.
01:19:00
Speaker
But I felt like I needed to at least try to see some of the sights.
01:19:04
Speaker
My legs and my feet hurt after, but it was worth it.
01:19:08
Speaker
It's a theme of the trip.
01:19:09
Speaker
I would have loved
01:19:10
Speaker
another night in London, but I didn't realize how far out Heathrow is from the city.
01:19:18
Speaker
So just to get to the city, I mean, I didn't look at the two times, but I would imagine it's probably close to an hour.
01:19:28
Speaker
I would have loved another night just to,
01:19:31
Speaker
Well, and there you go.
01:19:32
Speaker
There's the reason why we didn't stay in the city because it would have taken us an hour just to get out of central London and then the additional time to get to these parks.
01:19:40
Speaker
So it made sense to base out of LHR.
01:19:42
Speaker
It just kind of sucked for getting into the central part of the city because it's, it's a bit of a, a journey.
01:19:48
Speaker
That's why we didn't do anything the first day that we arrived.
01:19:50
Speaker
We wanted to, and then we were like, yeah, it's hard.
01:19:53
Speaker
It's, it seems like a lot when you, and, and, you know, we could do this better too, but we packed the schedule pretty tight.
01:20:00
Speaker
um that's something we'll think about for the future is maybe adding um like for the people that are just relentless park people have a day for them to do one of the smaller parks like Chessington or Paltons and then just have it be a free open day in a city for everybody else that doesn't want to do that and just wants to do culture day yeah and ideally like in the middle of the trip not the first day um right nice but it's just kind of how the the parks are lined up in the UK that it kind of worked out this way but
01:20:28
Speaker
I think it was a cool first day.
01:20:29
Speaker
I mean, besides the, besides the bus trauma at the beginning, like it was cool to do kind of two things in one day.
01:20:35
Speaker
Like we had a little bit of park and then we had a little bit of like together time as a club on the boat and in the city.
01:20:42
Speaker
I really loved London.
01:20:46
Speaker
So that ended our day one.
01:20:49
Speaker
Of the official trip.
01:20:51
Speaker
We're also going to cover day two.
01:20:52
Speaker
And then we're leaving the rest for another podcast.
01:20:55
Speaker
So you'll have to wait.
Paultons Park Visit
01:20:57
Speaker
Day two started with some more.
01:21:01
Speaker
But we figured it out.
01:21:04
Speaker
And eventually made it to.
01:21:08
Speaker
which is very much like a family child oriented park.
01:21:13
Speaker
However, they have a lot of roller coasters actually.
01:21:16
Speaker
And so it takes some time to kind of get through it.
01:21:19
Speaker
What did you guys think about it?
01:21:21
Speaker
Really clean and cute and well-themed.
01:21:25
Speaker
Like you could tell some parks are older than others, but you could tell that there's a lot of effort put into keeping the park really nice, which I appreciated.
01:21:35
Speaker
The kids would have loved it.
01:21:36
Speaker
Like it definitely is very kid oriented.
01:21:38
Speaker
One thing that stuck out to me is that the staff were like really excited for us to be there.
01:21:43
Speaker
Everyone there was super friendly and like went out of their way to make sure we had a good day.
01:21:48
Speaker
So that was really nice.
01:21:50
Speaker
Oh gosh, I forgot his name, but he was Andrew.
01:21:55
Speaker
He made a little dig at Chessington about how old some of their theming was.
01:21:59
Speaker
And to be fair, like he's not wrong.
01:22:01
Speaker
Chessington stuff is like aging in some areas and comparatively, Haltons is a lot cleaner and like nicer and looks refreshed.
01:22:11
Speaker
And the garden was beautiful.
01:22:12
Speaker
I don't know if you, I don't know if you guys walked past that area.
01:22:17
Speaker
It's almost like it's divided into two halves and then there's this kind of garden slash not fully zoo, but like there are some animals in the middle.
01:22:26
Speaker
Birds and insects or something.
01:22:31
Speaker
What was the highlight coaster?
01:22:36
Speaker
I was waiting for someone to talk about the slide.
01:22:41
Speaker
It was so much fun.
01:22:43
Speaker
It was Storm Chaser, I think.
01:22:45
Speaker
It was their spinner.
01:22:46
Speaker
It was really fun.
01:22:47
Speaker
Also, their suspended coaster was good and fine.
01:22:52
Speaker
The slide was definitely that.
01:22:58
Speaker
It was the shooter.
01:23:00
Speaker
Oh, the spooky dark ride.
01:23:03
Speaker
That was their brand new, I think their newest attraction in the park.
01:23:06
Speaker
Andrew was saying that they were really proud of it.
01:23:08
Speaker
It's fascinating the system, the way that it works because it flips you between scenes so it can compress a longer ride into two spins of a turntable.
01:23:22
Speaker
Theoretically, I get it, but I still don't.
01:23:28
Speaker
I wrote it twice and then the second time my gun didn't work.
01:23:31
Speaker
So I was just trying to figure out how this system works.
01:23:34
Speaker
But like you said, Kelly, like I see how it works, but it's just not putting, I can't put it together in my brain to make it make sense.
01:23:45
Speaker
I really enjoyed that.
01:23:48
Speaker
It was it was unique.
01:23:49
Speaker
And it was more one of the more functional shooter games I've done like it kind of worked.
01:23:56
Speaker
Some of the older ones don't work as well.
01:23:58
Speaker
But besides Tyler's gun apparently.
01:24:07
Speaker
Yeah, I got my, was it 800 on Flight of the Pterosaur that day?
01:24:15
Speaker
I mean, it was a cute Vekoma.
01:24:18
Speaker
I'm trying to think.
01:24:19
Speaker
The other big ride there is Cobra, which is a Gerstlauer bobsled coaster.
01:24:24
Speaker
Not that kind of bobsled.
01:24:25
Speaker
It's just like a wild mouse style coaster.
01:24:28
Speaker
And that was interesting.
01:24:30
Speaker
I think it was pretty fun.
01:24:31
Speaker
It was pretty fun.
01:24:32
Speaker
It looks like they're going to theme that area with the addition of their new
01:24:39
Speaker
So that's exciting that they're getting a little bit more of a thrilling, no inversion Eurofighter, right?
01:24:45
Speaker
That's what it appears to be, which makes sense for the park not to have an inversion on it.
01:24:50
Speaker
And it's like the footers are there, the construction is actively happening while we were there.
01:24:55
Speaker
Literally in the station of Cobra, there's like jackhammers going off.
01:25:00
Speaker
But yeah, Cobra was the worst themed attraction there.
01:25:04
Speaker
So it's really nice that they are incorporating that into their new land, which I'm sure will look very nice considering how...
01:25:10
Speaker
Tornado Springs looks where Storm Chaser is.
01:25:12
Speaker
That's their other newest area, and it's very well done.
01:25:15
Speaker
So I imagine that this new area will be really nice, and Cobra will fit well into it once it's rethemed.
01:25:24
Speaker
Just overall a very pleasant park to be in.
01:25:28
Speaker
Yeah, I'm glad we included it.
01:25:31
Speaker
We went back and forth a little bit in the initial planning.
01:25:35
Speaker
I think that we made the right choice there because it was a more unique park than Legoland.
01:25:39
Speaker
We have a lot of Legolands in the U.S. And there were only like four coasters at the other Legoland and Windsor and Paulton's had more to offer, I think.
01:25:49
Speaker
Plus they were cool people.
01:25:50
Speaker
So we appreciate it.
Stonehenge and British Cuisine
01:25:56
Speaker
So we finished our day at Paulton's and then we drove out to Stonehenge.
01:26:02
Speaker
I should mention that today we were all wearing bus bar shirts or most of us were.
01:26:09
Speaker
So when we took our photo at Stonehenge, everybody was wearing similar shirts, which was kind of hilarious.
01:26:15
Speaker
This was when the bus drama really was at its peak.
01:26:19
Speaker
It was on the way there and on the way back.
01:26:26
Speaker
Stonehenge, it was pretty.
01:26:28
Speaker
It was cool to see in real life.
01:26:31
Speaker
I'm glad we did it.
01:26:40
Speaker
And all I could think about was how to get us back safely.
01:26:42
Speaker
So I was not really looking at the rocks.
01:26:45
Speaker
I was like, okay, let's get our pictures and let's get it going.
01:26:49
Speaker
I mean, we had planned the visit to be a short one because we knew that it wasn't going to be, oh my gosh, we're going to spend five hours at Stonehenge.
01:26:54
Speaker
We were like, we're going to see the rocks and leave.
01:26:58
Speaker
And this is when we were hoping that the bus driver would take a nap in the bus, but he was actually enjoying Stonehenge with us, which was interesting to see.
01:27:08
Speaker
And Scott was like, my guy, we're going to be here for like under an hour.
01:27:13
Speaker
Great time for a power nap, my guy.
01:27:15
Speaker
And he was kind of like, yeah, that's all he said.
01:27:18
Speaker
And we were like, okay, yeah, you should do that.
01:27:21
Speaker
And then we saw him walking around.
01:27:24
Speaker
He may have only had that one word in his vocabulary the whole time.
01:27:27
Speaker
Yeah, it was just, yeah.
01:27:30
Speaker
Well, you know, I thought maybe that was his only English word until I saw his Instagram.
01:27:39
Speaker
He's got a lot of English words.
01:27:40
Speaker
Yeah, it was, I thought it was cool to see it in person.
01:27:46
Speaker
I didn't think that we needed to spend that long there, but it was neat.
01:27:49
Speaker
Yeah, I kind of wish we did the little audio tour so I can know more about it, but we only had limited time.
01:27:56
Speaker
I will say I just hate this is such like a historic and iconic place, and I just hate the commercialization of it.
01:28:06
Speaker
It just doesn't feel authentic anymore when you have to exit through the gift shop where everything's marked up and so many t-shirts.
01:28:15
Speaker
I just like to enjoy the history of stuff sometimes without being sold stupid trinkets.
01:28:22
Speaker
I did buy a magnet though, so I guess it works.
01:28:25
Speaker
I hate this, but I'm participating in it.
01:28:27
Speaker
But I agree, though.
01:28:29
Speaker
I wasn't expecting for there to be a gift shop.
01:28:31
Speaker
Yeah, that was weird.
01:28:33
Speaker
Yeah, I was like, oh, okay.
01:28:35
Speaker
Like, I understood, like, taking, like, a shuttle bus over to the location, but not, like, a whole gift shop.
01:28:42
Speaker
Like, right there.
01:28:43
Speaker
That was kind of funny.
01:28:44
Speaker
I mean, you had to know that... I mean, you had to know that... I mean, you had to know that... Yeah, my name was on t-shirts because...
01:28:51
Speaker
That's where my name comes from, apparently.
01:28:53
Speaker
That area of England.
01:28:56
Speaker
I also hated... It was just so weird because it's in the middle of nowhere, but you had a mile and a half line of cars to get there.
01:29:05
Speaker
I know the farmer that was cutting his grass across the street gets pissed off at seeing those crowds.
01:29:19
Speaker
So then we went back to the hotel.
01:29:21
Speaker
This was a quote unquote early day for us.
01:29:23
Speaker
I think we got back at like 7, 730 ish.
01:29:27
Speaker
And at least myself and a group of I don't know, there were probably like 18 of us went to the Pheasant Inn, the same place that Rafa and Shay went to on the Monday Saturday.
01:29:38
Speaker
And we all had a really good time there.
01:29:41
Speaker
The food was great.
01:29:42
Speaker
I know that British food has a bad reputation, but we really enjoyed it.
01:29:46
Speaker
I got a shepherd's pie and it was delicious.
01:29:49
Speaker
We also got some sticky toffee pudding, also delicious.
01:29:53
Speaker
And I saw many other people enjoying the different meals that they got.
01:29:57
Speaker
So shout out to our two tables of all of these people who went out.
01:30:02
Speaker
Yeah, we were there that night, too, and we actually got, I think I got the salmon pasta, which was actually really good there, too.
01:30:08
Speaker
I forgot what you got.
01:30:12
Speaker
Like a stuffed chicken.
01:30:13
Speaker
Yeah, it was like a stuffed chicken with, like, mashed potatoes, I think.
01:30:17
Speaker
Yeah, it was like Thanksgiving.
01:30:19
Speaker
It was like Thanksgiving food.
01:30:20
Speaker
Really good, though.
01:30:21
Speaker
Very good restaurant.
01:30:23
Speaker
Did you crash, Kelly?
01:30:26
Speaker
Well, first we tried to do, you know me, first we tried to do laundry in the sink.
01:30:34
Speaker
That was really a special time.
01:30:38
Speaker
Allison and Mullet, shout out to them for lending us or I guess giving us the like little sheets of laundry detergent sheets.
01:30:51
Speaker
Shout out to them for another reason too.
01:30:58
Speaker
And then I was like, Hey, congrats.
01:31:00
Speaker
Can I borrow one of your laundry?
01:31:06
Speaker
I thought you were going to say shout out to their engagement.
01:31:08
Speaker
That's what I thought too.
01:31:10
Speaker
Not the washing machine.
01:31:12
Speaker
I thought it like three times while you were talking about Stonehenge and then ultimately forgot about it again.
01:31:18
Speaker
I'm sure they don't listen.
01:31:20
Speaker
They definitely don't listen because Mullet posts stuff that we discuss on our episode as like an HHN announcement.
01:31:26
Speaker
It's like, bro, we talked about it last week.
01:31:32
Speaker
That was really cute.
01:31:33
Speaker
I knew it was going to happen and I was very anxious.
01:31:36
Speaker
About the driver getting us back safe.
01:31:39
Speaker
It was going back and forth between like, oh my God, we got to get these people back safe.
01:31:43
Speaker
Like people are panicking.
01:31:44
Speaker
Like this is really anxiety provoking.
01:31:46
Speaker
And also like, when are you proposing?
01:31:48
Speaker
Because I need to make sure that I can see.
01:31:52
Speaker
the entire time at Stonehenge I'm like okay the rocks are cool we took our pictures what is going on here yeah shout out and shout out for the laundry sheet actually they gave us two and it was great yeah
01:32:07
Speaker
So that wraps up day two of the stumble across the pond trip.
Halloween Horror Nights Announcements
01:32:12
Speaker
More to come on that in future episodes, because that is far too much for one episode.
01:32:19
Speaker
Some more exciting parks coming, I think, or at least some bigger parks in the UK on the way that we can discuss.
01:32:26
Speaker
And then also some of the post trip nonsense that we all got up to, we'll discuss as well.
01:32:31
Speaker
So switching gears, of course, while we were all busy on this trip, Halloween Horror Nights was out here announcing stuff.
01:32:40
Speaker
So Kelly, many announcements.
01:32:42
Speaker
What's going on with HHN?
01:32:44
Speaker
So a lot of things were announced.
01:32:46
Speaker
We're going to talk about all of it, but we're going to spread it between our three recap episodes.
01:32:50
Speaker
So the first so when we left off,
01:32:53
Speaker
We knew that there was a fallout house and that something Five Nights at Freddy's was coming.
01:32:59
Speaker
We all know and think it's a house, but it hasn't been announced yet.
01:33:03
Speaker
The next announcement actually happened on Friday the 13th.
01:33:07
Speaker
So some of us were already on our way to the trip.
01:33:10
Speaker
I was in Disney, but they dropped the...
01:33:13
Speaker
The, I guess, technically second house, which is another IP and it is called Jason Universe, but there's a little 13 hidden in there for Friday the 13th.
01:33:26
Speaker
And this house was rumored on the last spec map to be in the Fast and Furious location.
01:33:34
Speaker
I guess it's still rumored to be there.
01:33:37
Speaker
What do you guys think about this?
01:33:39
Speaker
We talked about it and kind of knew ahead of time, but it was just confirmed.
01:33:44
Speaker
So I'm not a fan of the location, if that is the location after all.
01:33:50
Speaker
But I am very excited about it being the best of Jason Voorhees, as opposed to it being like a single film that they're basing it off of.
01:33:59
Speaker
So it's along the same lines as like Insidious from last year where we're getting the best of.
01:34:04
Speaker
So we're probably going to see very iconic kills from all of the movies, a bunch of different settings.
01:34:10
Speaker
I know that there was...
01:34:12
Speaker
which I'm not sure if they would even bring this up, but maybe they will.
01:34:14
Speaker
I know there was a Jason that was like themed in space.
01:34:17
Speaker
They might have some of those sets on there as well.
01:34:22
Speaker
But all in all, I'm pretty excited about that.
01:34:25
Speaker
The last time we saw Jason was when they did Freddy versus Jason, which was a while ago already.
01:34:31
Speaker
So this should be fun.
01:34:33
Speaker
I'm excited for it.
01:34:34
Speaker
Yeah, I'll read the little description.
01:34:36
Speaker
It does kind of give us a little bit as far as setting.
01:34:40
Speaker
It says, So sounds like we'll get...
01:34:51
Speaker
It's interesting because we talked about this before there being a lot of like outdoor scenes and how they would accomplish that.
01:34:57
Speaker
And they've definitely done that in some of the sound stages, like Yeti, I felt like was done really well.
01:35:01
Speaker
Like, yeah, like there were some parts that were outside, felt outside.
01:35:05
Speaker
So it'll be interesting to see what they do in that space.
01:35:07
Speaker
Cause it definitely doesn't feel at least like the past couple of houses.
01:35:11
Speaker
Like there was really like a place for it to feel like it was outdoors, but it sounds like we're going to be in the woods and at the summer camp.
01:35:18
Speaker
So I guess we'll see what they do.
01:35:20
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, if this is in the Fast and the Furious location, I mean, I don't think they'll do it, but I think it would be cool if they did play around with the portion of the queue that is outdoors.
01:35:32
Speaker
They do have the gated fences and stuff like that, so maybe they could play around with that.
01:35:39
Speaker
They might not because it kind of messes with the theming that's already there for the ride, but that would be pretty cool if they did do that.
01:35:46
Speaker
I would appreciate it.
01:35:48
Speaker
I have a lot of homework.
01:35:50
Speaker
I've never seen any Friday the 13th.
01:35:52
Speaker
I need to watch one of these movies.
01:35:55
Speaker
Also, I was so confused why Friday the 13th wasn't in the name at all.
01:35:59
Speaker
And then I realized I had to look it up and there's like some licensing thing.
01:36:02
Speaker
I was like, why is this called Jason Universe?
01:36:05
Speaker
Kind of an awkward name.
01:36:07
Speaker
But I guess the original film is a different license than Jason.
01:36:13
Speaker
So that's why it's called that.
01:36:15
Speaker
So they don't have the rights to use Friday the 13th's name.
01:36:20
Speaker
Rafa, what do you suggest we watch?
01:36:22
Speaker
Because I made a list and there's like 12 freaking movies.
01:36:24
Speaker
So what is most important?
01:36:27
Speaker
Okay, so obviously the OG, you got to go with that.
01:36:34
Speaker
There's like the remake of the OG too.
01:36:36
Speaker
Yes, which I would recommend that one as well.
01:36:38
Speaker
I actually really enjoyed it.
01:36:39
Speaker
A lot of people hate on that remake, but I actually really, really like it.
01:36:44
Speaker
But that one is pretty close to the overall theme.
01:36:49
Speaker
So I would definitely go with that.
01:36:52
Speaker
I think as long as you go with the original and then Friday the 13th part two and then three, I think those are set.
01:37:01
Speaker
on the general, like the most important, you know, scenes and settings of the, of the franchise.
01:37:07
Speaker
So definitely just go for like the original trilogy or there's four of them actually, I think.
01:37:14
Speaker
So yeah, watch those four.
01:37:15
Speaker
I think those will be the most important.
01:37:20
Speaker
You, you have plenty of time, but yeah, definitely the first four, I think go with that and the remake.
01:37:26
Speaker
I think you'll be good with that.
01:37:28
Speaker
Shay, are you a scary movie person?
01:37:31
Speaker
love scary movies I also really okay so what's weird is I love scary movies but if it's too scary then I have a hard time falling asleep however true crime that doesn't bother me at all which he's always like that's so weird because of cases like people are out here getting chopped up for realsies and I'm like oh good night that's good thanks that's like a comfort thing for her I'm like how can you watch half of these things like I can't
01:38:00
Speaker
Give me the spooky stuff, the fake spooky stuff.
01:38:02
Speaker
But the real stuff, no, I'm good.
01:38:04
Speaker
Like the conjuring?
01:38:06
Speaker
I have a little nightlight.
01:38:08
Speaker
I'm like, if I have to pee all night, I'm like, we have to pee.
01:38:13
Speaker
That reminds me of that TikTok sound.
01:38:15
Speaker
Rafa, I know you're a TikTok guy.
01:38:18
Speaker
Her eyes were cut off.
01:38:20
Speaker
Her legs were cut off.
01:38:24
Speaker
Her arms were cut off.
01:38:28
Speaker
But yeah, you're pretty big into spooky movies.
01:38:30
Speaker
More than me, probably.
01:38:32
Speaker
You're bigger into the movies, for sure.
01:38:34
Speaker
How do you feel about Jason being at HHN again?
01:38:38
Speaker
Are you a Jason fan?
01:38:42
Speaker
I think it's, and I just, I love the nostalgic feel of it.
01:38:45
Speaker
It's such an old vintage-y kind of like, it's like a little, you know, like you're going to summer camp to get murdered.
01:38:51
Speaker
Yeah, it's very old school.
01:38:52
Speaker
Is there one of the IPs that has been rumored for this year that you're more excited about?
01:38:58
Speaker
Like Fallout, Terrifier, Friday the 13th, WWE, and what's the other one?
01:39:06
Speaker
Five Nights at Freddy's.
01:39:08
Speaker
I think the terrified, I think terrified was so gross.
01:39:11
Speaker
I am kind of curious to see where they go with it because I'm like, it's, it's such an extra movie for no reason.
01:39:19
Speaker
And I'm like, we don't, why are we chopping people up into what we doing?
01:39:25
Speaker
I love Arthur clown.
01:39:28
Speaker
But yeah, that's going to be an interesting one to see.
01:39:32
Speaker
And I kind of am excited for five nights at Freddy.
01:39:34
Speaker
Cause it gives me,
01:39:35
Speaker
It gives me like Chuck E. Cheese vibes, you know?
01:39:37
Speaker
Like, oh, how growing up haunted little.
01:39:42
Speaker
Like the creepy version of that.
01:39:46
Speaker
So it'll be interesting to see what they announce next because following this announcement, they dropped all of the originals in one week, which we'll cover in our upcoming episodes.
01:39:56
Speaker
But I wonder what the plan is now for the other IPs.
01:40:00
Speaker
Yeah, we're still waiting.
01:40:03
Speaker
two more missing right well technically fried five nights of freddy's is needs an announcement but yeah but we don't have terrifier or the wwe yet and i feel like those are pretty confirmed at this point right seems like it yeah so we'll see i guess i wonder if they're saving terrifier for last i don't know i think so that's a pretty big i bought a terrifier shirt for one of my outfits really yeah i'll
01:40:34
Speaker
It's just art's face.
01:40:38
Speaker
It's a cute, a cutesy little, Oh, it was shipped.
01:40:48
Speaker
Well, I'm going to ask another question to Shay, because you've been going to, Oh, Oh, that's fun.
01:40:53
Speaker
Oh, it's like a heart.
01:40:58
Speaker
While we're on HHN, I was going to ask Shay, because you've been going for a couple of years, right?
01:41:04
Speaker
What is your favorite house or any element of the event that's happened over the last several years?
01:41:15
Speaker
That's a hard question.
01:41:19
Speaker
It sounds horrible, but I feel like all of the houses are starting to blur into one at this point.
01:41:23
Speaker
Because I'm like, oh, like this.
01:41:25
Speaker
But I think original house.
01:41:27
Speaker
I feel like original houses, some people sleep on them.
01:41:31
Speaker
But I feel like they will really, really, they'll really knock you on your ass, I feel.
01:41:36
Speaker
Like I feel like a lot of people overlook them.
01:41:39
Speaker
But some of them are truly terrifying.
01:41:41
Speaker
Like some of them are scarier.
01:41:42
Speaker
Than like the bigger names that they have.
01:41:47
Speaker
I like that they kind of have that creativity.
01:41:49
Speaker
To kind of go whichever way they want.
01:41:51
Speaker
And like even with some of like the monsters.
01:41:55
Speaker
Like, I think they did, which one was it?
01:41:57
Speaker
Like, they did, like, a pumpkin one one year.
01:41:58
Speaker
Oh, Wicked Growth.
01:41:59
Speaker
Yeah, that was, like, the big one.
01:42:01
Speaker
My ass actually touched.
01:42:02
Speaker
Like, I was on the ground.
01:42:04
Speaker
And then, like, the fear took over.
01:42:06
Speaker
And, like, I had a friend behind me, and he was like, we're going to keep, we got to keep moving.
01:42:11
Speaker
But I think it's, like, for sure.
01:42:15
Speaker
The original houses.
01:42:16
Speaker
The originals, yeah.
01:42:18
Speaker
I like the originals, too.
01:42:19
Speaker
I think my favorite two years ago was Blood Moon, and that was completely, like, yeah.
01:42:24
Speaker
I feel like it's the fact that you don't really know what to expect from it.
01:42:28
Speaker
Like when you watch like when you watch like an IP, like you kind of know what you're going to see.
01:42:32
Speaker
You know what scenes you're looking for and and what the monsters might look like.
01:42:37
Speaker
But when it comes to the original concepts, like you have no idea what's coming.
01:42:41
Speaker
So that's what I love about those.
01:42:42
Speaker
Yeah, I do have to say when they did Haunting of Hill House, that was such a good house.
01:42:47
Speaker
That was a very good IP.
01:42:50
Speaker
That one was very good, too.
01:42:54
Speaker
Not to be spoilery because we'll cover it, but I'm pretty excited for the range of originals that were announced.
01:43:02
Speaker
I think it's going to be a good year.
01:43:04
Speaker
I have some interesting ones.
01:43:09
Speaker
So we're moving on to the questions.
01:43:13
Speaker
We got a bunch of questions from you guys.
01:43:15
Speaker
And we kind of are going to split those up across the next couple episodes as well.
01:43:20
Speaker
So our first question comes from Carl.
01:43:23
Speaker
What's the best song to sing to keep a bus driver from falling asleep?
01:43:29
Speaker
I'll say whatever Angela was singing.
01:43:31
Speaker
Shout out to Angela.
01:43:33
Speaker
Yeah, she was screaming.
01:43:35
Speaker
And I had no idea what you guys were doing because I was back there.
01:43:38
Speaker
I'm like, I don't know why they're screaming up there.
01:43:41
Speaker
And I was like, oh, okay.
01:43:42
Speaker
I think I know what they're doing.
01:43:43
Speaker
I had to explain it to some people because like I was texting people at the front during it and people in the back were like, oh my God, why are they screaming?
01:43:52
Speaker
I'm trying to sleep.
01:43:53
Speaker
And I'm like, listen, it's for a reason.
01:43:59
Speaker
We're trying to make sure you can wake up.
Travel Anecdotes and Airline Experiences
01:44:04
Speaker
We got a little defying gravity in there, a little defying gravity moment.
01:44:08
Speaker
And I was living for that.
01:44:12
Speaker
I'm glad we didn't defy gravity off the side of the... I was trying to think of staying awake related things and I couldn't think of anything.
01:44:24
Speaker
What was being sung?
01:44:30
Speaker
Oh, was it Wide Awake?
01:44:36
Speaker
I didn't hear what he said.
01:44:38
Speaker
Scott was playing it out of his phone.
01:44:40
Speaker
He would just pick songs.
01:44:42
Speaker
I think he literally, Spotify, Googled whatever songs about being awake, and then would just play one, and then the people around would catch on, and then it would become the next song.
01:44:52
Speaker
And Angela was like, the girl could actually sing, because I heard her sing later, but she was like,
01:45:03
Speaker
I didn't know what to do.
01:45:04
Speaker
I was so stressed.
01:45:05
Speaker
There was nothing I could do but laugh.
01:45:07
Speaker
I'm like, is this actually real life right now?
01:45:12
Speaker
Are we on a bus with a man who is not able to stay awake driving all 50 of us to Stonehenge and these random songs are coming on the phone and we're all singing them?
01:45:27
Speaker
I'm just imagining that now.
01:45:30
Speaker
Driving on this country road.
01:45:32
Speaker
I wish I would have taken some.
01:45:35
Speaker
I wish I would have taken videos of that, but I was so dialed in because we decided at one point, like, we're going to take videos of this man sleeping so that we can send him to the bus company.
01:45:46
Speaker
So I have my phone.
01:45:48
Speaker
zoomed in to like 2.5 onto the like rear view mirror but I'm like trying to be not suspicious and I'm like is this allowed like am I allowed to be videotaping this guy anyways it was fine everything was good thank you for your question Carl thanks Carl I really have no idea what this one is about but this guy wants to know what's the deal with airline food is this a question for me because I work for Delta I don't
01:46:16
Speaker
It depends on the airline, my friend.
01:46:20
Speaker
Well, I flew play airlines, so we do not get any airline food.
01:46:26
Speaker
Wait, for an international, they don't even do that?
01:46:30
Speaker
They don't give it to you.
01:46:31
Speaker
It's not included.
01:46:34
Speaker
Talk about low cost.
01:46:36
Speaker
I flew American on the way there, and that was delicious.
01:46:38
Speaker
Their pasta is good.
01:46:40
Speaker
It's the same every single time.
01:46:41
Speaker
And then I flew KLM home, and it was not good.
01:46:49
Speaker
I was really let down by my two KLM flights.
01:46:51
Speaker
You guys really overhyped KLM.
01:46:56
Speaker
It was one person that overhyped it.
01:46:58
Speaker
I mean, yeah, that is true.
01:47:01
Speaker
We had a good KLM flight, though.
01:47:03
Speaker
They gave us banana bread and a little lemon thing.
01:47:07
Speaker
I mean, that was a short flight.
01:47:07
Speaker
It wasn't an overseas flight.
01:47:10
Speaker
We flew with Air Europa on the way up, and the food was disgusting.
01:47:15
Speaker
It was disgusting.
01:47:18
Speaker
And that flight alone was just a very uncomfortable flight for us.
01:47:23
Speaker
Like, it felt like we were like, we were stuffed in there like sardines.
01:47:28
Speaker
Like it was very crammed in that flight.
01:47:30
Speaker
So it was warm, like the
01:47:33
Speaker
It's like the air was not kicking.
01:47:34
Speaker
And the food was just... It's funny because they came up to us and they're like, oh, would you like chicken or pasta?
01:47:40
Speaker
And we're like, I was like, I'll go with chicken.
01:47:42
Speaker
And then she got pasta.
01:47:43
Speaker
They were both pasta.
01:47:45
Speaker
Just one had chicken and one didn't.
01:47:47
Speaker
So I was like, oh, okay.
01:47:49
Speaker
I guess that's what you mean by that.
01:47:51
Speaker
You want just pasta or the pasta with the chicken?
01:47:53
Speaker
And the chicken was disgusting.
01:47:56
Speaker
It just didn't taste good at all.
01:47:58
Speaker
I always go with the pasta just because...
01:48:01
Speaker
In my mind, like meat from the airline just kind of weirds me out a little bit.
01:48:07
Speaker
Just knowing it's been sitting in the warmer for hours, mass produced.
01:48:12
Speaker
There's just something about it.
01:48:13
Speaker
It's definitely like, it's definitely more concerning to pick the meat, but sometimes you get lucky.
01:48:23
Speaker
Like, well, and if you're in an upper class cabin, then it's usually great.
01:48:27
Speaker
Like there's a short rib that I've had in Delta One before that was so good.
01:48:32
Speaker
But our food, I think we had on the way over, I picked the pasta option, which was like this Mezzaluna that was really good.
01:48:37
Speaker
And then on the way back,
01:48:39
Speaker
I did pick the chicken because it was like a curry, a Thai curry chicken with rice.
01:48:44
Speaker
And it was actually also quite good.
01:48:47
Speaker
So shout out Delta for following up on your promise of being good, I guess.
01:48:53
Speaker
North Atlantic surprised us.
01:48:56
Speaker
I didn't know what to expect from it.
01:48:59
Speaker
I was reading a lot of reviews and everybody was talking pretty poorly of it.
01:49:03
Speaker
But it was such a comfortable flight.
01:49:06
Speaker
A lot of leg room.
01:49:08
Speaker
The food was actually good.
01:49:09
Speaker
It was like a chicken and mashed potatoes, I think.
01:49:12
Speaker
Tasted really good, actually.
01:49:13
Speaker
This was out of London?
01:49:15
Speaker
This was out of London.
01:49:17
Speaker
I've heard of Norris.
01:49:18
Speaker
I've heard good things.
01:49:19
Speaker
Yeah, I had no idea.
01:49:21
Speaker
I was kind of worried about that, and I wasn't worried about Aer Europa, but it ended up being the other way around.
01:49:27
Speaker
Which I'm glad, because at least my flight back was a lot more comfortable than the first flight going up.
01:49:33
Speaker
The food was pretty good there.
01:49:35
Speaker
I have a brief airplane complaint, which is really more of a Tom complaint.
01:49:39
Speaker
He does this thing.
01:49:40
Speaker
We have like very mild status with Americans.
01:49:43
Speaker
So like when on the day of when we check in for flights, we usually can like upgrade our seats, not to like anything crazy, but like better seats.
01:49:51
Speaker
And he does this thing every time because leg room is important to him, which I agree.
01:49:55
Speaker
I love my leg room.
01:49:58
Speaker
But he puts us in the very front of like the economy cabin where you have leg room.
01:50:03
Speaker
Hey, but you, you,
01:50:05
Speaker
Oh, I can't effing stand that seat.
01:50:09
Speaker
Because I have to now put both of my bags up in the overhead.
01:50:12
Speaker
I have no access to anything and I'm by the window.
01:50:15
Speaker
So every time I need anything out of my bag, I got to either anticipate it when I sit down.
01:50:19
Speaker
I'm like, okay, give me my pills.
01:50:20
Speaker
Give me my hand sanitizer.
01:50:21
Speaker
Give me my blanket.
01:50:22
Speaker
Give me like, I'm panicking because I don't want to disturb anyone.
01:50:26
Speaker
You know, like I got, and then I'm like sitting there with it on my lap because guess what?
01:50:30
Speaker
They don't have a fucking flap for me to put my shit in in front of me.
01:50:35
Speaker
We went way beyond PC.
01:50:37
Speaker
This is a spill now.
01:50:39
Speaker
And then you don't have your own freaking TV screen.
01:50:42
Speaker
You have the one giant one up on the wall in front of you.
01:50:45
Speaker
Like five feet in front of you.
01:50:46
Speaker
You have no control over it.
01:50:49
Speaker
That's what American does?
01:50:50
Speaker
They just put one screen on the wall?
01:50:53
Speaker
Oh, that's even worse.
01:50:54
Speaker
And all I care about on my screen is I want to see where my plane is.
01:50:58
Speaker
Where is my plane?
01:50:59
Speaker
How much time do I have left on this freaking flight where I have no access to anything because my bag is above me and I forgot to get something out of it and the lady on the aisle sleeping?
01:51:14
Speaker
That was so chaotic.
01:51:16
Speaker
When you sit in those freaking rows, your tray table is in the armrest.
01:51:20
Speaker
And so it's a solid wall armrest and your butt doesn't have space.
01:51:25
Speaker
And then I'm like trying to get the armrest or the thing out of the armrest, but I already have like everything on top of my lap because I have nowhere else to put it.
01:51:33
Speaker
Tom, I need help getting my freaking tray out so I can get some food.
01:51:37
Speaker
My tray was stuck.
01:51:38
Speaker
So I'm like, it was a whole thing.
01:51:40
Speaker
Head rows are not an upgrade.
01:51:43
Speaker
He loves sitting there.
01:51:44
Speaker
And every time he does this, he upgrades to that row.
01:51:47
Speaker
And I said, Tom, I know you love the extra leg room, but you can go up there yourself.
01:51:53
Speaker
I will, I will, all I care about is somewhere to put my stuff and like a window ideally so that I can sleep.
01:51:59
Speaker
I don't need all this extra leg room.
01:52:00
Speaker
And every single time, you know what he says to me?
01:52:02
Speaker
This isn't, this plane actually, like there is an under, there is like seats in front of you.
01:52:07
Speaker
You can put your stuff under.
01:52:08
Speaker
Like I checked, this plane will let you, you don't have to put your stuff above.
01:52:11
Speaker
He tells me it every single time.
01:52:12
Speaker
So we get to the row this time and he goes, Oh, oops.
01:52:20
Speaker
Now I got to put my stuff above and I got to,
01:52:24
Speaker
That's wild that they just put one screen on the bulkhead on American.
01:52:27
Speaker
Because Delta, you have video monitors.
01:52:29
Speaker
They're just like in the armrest and you have to pull them out.
01:52:31
Speaker
But it's at least one per person.
01:52:35
Speaker
That was only my tray.
01:52:39
Speaker
Kelly, I wish our listeners could see your face during that rant.
01:52:43
Speaker
That was so intense.
01:52:47
Speaker
I had no idea you felt that passionately about it.
01:52:51
Speaker
I can get behind a freaking rant about where I sit on a plane, let me tell you.
01:52:57
Speaker
There are fireworks happening.
01:52:58
Speaker
Sorry if you hear them.
01:52:59
Speaker
All this from just trying to talk about the food.
01:53:02
Speaker
Well, I was thinking about the food, and then I was thinking about how I had to eat the food on my lap, and then it triggered a whole...
01:53:11
Speaker
It went south from there.
01:53:20
Speaker
There's a rumored WWE house.
01:53:22
Speaker
What other sports would make a great house?
01:53:35
Speaker
Everything is just zombies.
01:53:37
Speaker
I feel like it could be any sport as long as you make them into zombies or something.
01:53:42
Speaker
But the thing is, WWE, some of the characters, I don't even know what to call them, wrestlers, have the spooky theme built in because there's the Undertaker and stuff.
01:53:53
Speaker
Are there any other sports that are even remotely like that?
01:53:59
Speaker
There are some dark sides of dance, let me tell you.
01:54:02
Speaker
What is that movie with...
01:54:11
Speaker
I mean, actually, though, that could be spooky.
01:54:14
Speaker
Play like the classical music, but do minor chords.
01:54:20
Speaker
A dressing room is spooky no matter where it is.
01:54:22
Speaker
That could kind of work.
01:54:27
Speaker
That is not a sport, but.
01:54:29
Speaker
Argue if it is or isn't.
01:54:30
Speaker
It realistically is physically more of a sport than race car driving.
01:54:38
Speaker
You know what else would make a really good freaking haunted house?
01:54:43
Speaker
Because it's the worst, most terrifying thing to spend your time doing watching.
01:54:54
Speaker
I'm like actually sweating too.
01:55:03
Speaker
Now I'm very warm.
01:55:04
Speaker
We just lost all of our soccer and NASCAR fans.
01:55:08
Speaker
I know you don't listen.
01:55:12
Speaker
Our last question.
Packing and Luggage Tips
01:55:16
Speaker
From Kim, how many days of travel can you realistically pack in a carry-on before it becomes too much or impractical?
01:55:26
Speaker
interesting question kudos to all of you guys that came with just carry-ons i we we knew we weren't gonna it wasn't gonna work for us so we just paid for the check bag but so many people showed up with their tiny carry-ons and i'm like how did you do it it was easy frankly really yes like i it's weird because when i travel domestically with just my backpack for a one or two day trip i overpack
01:55:52
Speaker
Because I'm like, oh, my God, I got so much space in here.
01:55:54
Speaker
Like I can put extra underwear.
01:55:56
Speaker
I can put, oh, what if it's cold?
01:55:58
Speaker
I'll just pack every possible combination.
01:56:00
Speaker
But for this trip, it was 16 days of clothes that I needed to pack.
01:56:06
Speaker
And I refuse to check luggage.
01:56:08
Speaker
It scares me because they lose shit.
01:56:10
Speaker
Sorry, I work for Delta.
01:56:11
Speaker
We lose stuff all the time.
01:56:13
Speaker
Not going to pretend that we don't.
01:56:15
Speaker
And the other thing about it is like, especially when I when I do my non rev travel with Delta, like, they'll send your bag and then you won't go and then you're not with it.
01:56:24
Speaker
So I'm just used to not doing that.
01:56:26
Speaker
But I was worried because I was like, this is a lot of days to fit in a carry on and a backpack.
01:56:32
Speaker
But because, you know, I knew that there would be some warm weather in Madrid and stuff.
01:56:37
Speaker
And then also I was like, okay, when I did this last time for winter, it was like full.
01:56:43
Speaker
So what I should do this time is just pack the t-shirts and then pack things that I can layer if I get cold.
01:56:50
Speaker
So I really like went kind of minimum on I had like two or three pairs of pants and two or three pairs of shorts for that whole time period because you can reuse those.
01:57:01
Speaker
And I had T-shirts for every day.
01:57:03
Speaker
And it fit in there without even using the extendable part of the carry on.
01:57:10
Speaker
Like I wasn't sitting on it to get it to close or anything.
01:57:13
Speaker
I was shocked because like when I finished packing, I was like, wow, wow.
01:57:16
Speaker
that zipped up so easily.
01:57:18
Speaker
Like I have extra space.
01:57:19
Speaker
And then my backpack just has like some jackets and some stuff that I needed for the, the buses and stuff in it.
01:57:26
Speaker
It was, I don't know.
01:57:27
Speaker
I don't know why it was so easy, but so from my experience, you can do 16 days in a carry on in a backpack.
01:57:34
Speaker
I obviously did much less, but I had a lot of buzz bars stuff too with my stuff.
01:57:39
Speaker
And I did okay with like a traditional carry on in a large backpack, but yeah,
01:57:43
Speaker
I always, I feel like I'm a pretty good packer by now.
01:57:45
Speaker
And I do like, I did bring some extra stuff.
01:57:48
Speaker
Like I always, I don't know about you guys, but like, I pretty much double the amount of underwear.
01:57:52
Speaker
Like, I don't know.
01:57:53
Speaker
I'm like, what if I run out of underwear?
01:57:54
Speaker
Like, I don't know.
01:57:55
Speaker
Or what if I'm Tom and I like, don't bring my underwear.
01:57:57
Speaker
I leave it at home.
01:58:00
Speaker
Um, but I will usually do like a sweatshirt or a coat, but not pack it.
01:58:04
Speaker
I'll like have it with me on the plane.
01:58:06
Speaker
And I have a plain blankie that I also don't pack.
01:58:08
Speaker
Those are like my bulkiest things that I just don't pack in the bag.
01:58:12
Speaker
I use some compression bags for this trip.
01:58:15
Speaker
Um, but for me, the hardest part is like my hair tools and my makeup stuff.
01:58:19
Speaker
It's heavy and it takes up the most space.
01:58:21
Speaker
And I was paranoid about the liquids because, you know, Europe is a little bit, or supposedly was going to be
01:58:27
Speaker
a little bit more stringent on liquids.
01:58:28
Speaker
So I'm like, what counts is mascara, a freaking liquid?
01:58:31
Speaker
Like, I don't know.
01:58:32
Speaker
Is my lip gloss a liquid?
01:58:33
Speaker
It's thick, but it's a liquid.
01:58:35
Speaker
So I like just didn't know what to separate out.
01:58:38
Speaker
But I think to answer the question, how many days of travel can you realistically pack me carry on?
01:58:42
Speaker
I think you can do a lot if you do it, if you do it in a smart way, more, more days than I was there for, I could have gotten a couple extra days out of my stuff, I think.
01:58:54
Speaker
One thing that I'll mention about the checked luggage situation, specifically in Europe, is that oftentimes, and maybe not so much with the bus trip, but oftentimes you are like taking public transit to a station and then going from that station and walking several blocks to a hotel or whatever.
01:59:11
Speaker
And having a big bag is kind of a pain in the ass for all of that, which I imagine you guys found on the trains and buses and cologne and stuff.
01:59:22
Speaker
Yeah, we were, that was a little bit of a mission, but I mean, we made it work, but yeah, it's doable.
01:59:29
Speaker
It's just not as comfortable.
01:59:31
Speaker
It's especially hard in Europe when you're pulling your suitcase over like cobblestone.
01:59:38
Speaker
And then it's just like flipping over as you do it.
01:59:41
Speaker
It's comical to watch people do that.
01:59:46
Speaker
Yeah, having the, obviously, like, we switched hotels frequently at the end, which is kind of a pain, like, having to unpack and repack multiple times, but it was a luxury to be able to, like, have the space to store it on the bus rather than, like, you know, have to carry our bags with us.
02:00:05
Speaker
So that wraps it up for questions.
02:00:08
Speaker
Our next episode, we'll be covering Thorpe Park, Alton Park, Alton Park, Alton Towers, and Blackpool Pleasure Beach from the trip.
